As the Ruler of the Moon Cell

  • Demigod/goddess, Greater as the Ruler of the Moon Cell
  • Symbol: Their Command Seal or The Moon Cell itself
  • Themes: Fate/Extra OP, Fate/Extella Link OP
  • Alignment: Neutral Good
  • Portfolio: The main character of the Moon Cell Holy Grail War, starts kind of Generic due to being an NPC, doesn't speak much, Digital Copy of a Comatose Person, starts unassuming but grows into a true hero, Gender is not very important, Brown Hair and Eyes, Interactive Narrator, supports from behind, Covert Pervert, likes sweets and desserts, attracts a lot of attention from masters and servants, keeps their morally ambiguous servants on the rails, Never gives up, Sacrificed themselves to end the Holy Grail War
  • Domains: Digital Worlds, Artificial Intelligence, Leadership, the Moon
  • High Priest: Noah Kaiba
  • Allies:
  • Avoids: B.B. and Alter Egos
  • Enemies: Kiara Sessyoin, Demon King Goetia, Yuuki Terumi, Love Machine, X.A.N.A., The Taken, Harbinger, Evolto
  • Good Counterpart To: Agent Smith
  • In the Fate timelines of the Nasuverse, there exists one world where the amount of mana on the earth had started to decrease ever since 1970s, humanity looked to the moon for the future. Specifically, they looked toward the Moon Cell, a supercomputer inside the Moon left by an alien civilization. Humans would enter the digital world of S.E.R.A.P.H. inside of the Moon Cell to participate in the Holy Grail Wars, where masters summon servants to gain control of the supercomputer's power.
  • One of those masters was Hakuno Kishinami, a pretty quiet person who contracted with Nero Claudius, Tamamo no Mae, or an alternate version of EMIYA known as Nameless to win, despite actually being an AI copy of a comatose person and not being human at all. In another scenario, the Moon Cell and the Holy Grail war would be hijacked by the rogue A.I. B.B. and her alter egos. After they won the war, they would encounter Altera, the remains of the giant destroyer Sefar, and become embroiled in a civil war to shape the future of the moon cell and the earth. And then, there was another war against the forces of Karl De Grobe, who was trying to conquer the moon cell.
  • It was a grim time for the Pantheon's Cyberspace. The Master Control Program had launched a new assault to take over the digital realm, but unlike the other times, it came with an army so large that TRON could not fight it alone, and other groups like the Lyoko Warriors were disorganized and unprepared for the threat. In this time of great need, Norn Mikihara and Yui Kirigaya put their powers together and prayed for a savior, a great leader and tactician who would unite their scattered forces and restore hope. And from the ether of the multiversal cyberspace came... an weak-looking A.I. dressed like a high school student.

    • But their unassuming appearance would soon be revealed to be a misleading semblance, as they immediately summoned a small army of powerful servants and came up with a plan to beat back the MCP's forces. By the end of the day, peace had been restored and there was a new powerful A.I. on the side of good: the greatest master of the Moon Cell.

  • Is Hakuno a human whose mind was brought into the Moon Cell, an AI that gained sentience? The answer is both. They are an "NPC" copy of an amnesiac in cryostasis on earth that gained sentience, so they are for all intents and purposes considered a new person.
    • Some records indicate that in an alternate universe, Hakuno gained a power known as "Dead Face" that provided unlimited code casts and incredible durability. The Hakuno in the pantheon does not have this ability, because the Dead Face was actually just the grudges of masters who had taken the real Hakuno's form.

  • Now that Hakuno was finally in the pantheon, their servants decided to show them around on a welcome tour to get their master accustomed to the place. The first stop was to Nero Claudius's temple, where they were treated to treated a grand show and feast that presented all of the visual and performance arts that the emperor has been working on in the Pantheon. It wasn't very good per se, but Hakuno appreciated the effort.
    • Sometime later, Hakuno heard of a male Emperor Nero and decide to look into him. They agree that the two Neros have a lot of similarities, but that the Red Saber is a much more virtuous person. They try to make sure that the tyrant Nero's actions don't reflect badly on Saber.
    • Speaking of alternate Neros, when asked about the Beast Queen Draco that is currently residing in Nero's temple, Hakuno was oddly unsurprised at this fact even though they had never been summoned in any of the Grand Order Grail Wars, stating that they were glad that "Chaldea is taking care of her". Rumors say that Hakuno played some role in saving Draco's life after her defeat and getting her summoned under Chaldea, but the details are murky.
  • Tamamo is grateful to have her "Goshujin-sama" finally in the pantheon, and is glad to play the role of a doting wife when she or Hakuno hang out at each other's temples. However, Tamamo is scared that Hakuno will eventually meet the evil Vixen Su Daji, who is intimately connected to a past she doesn't want them to know too much about.
    • However, Hakuno does know that Tamamo is a Brunei (avatar) of Amaterasu, and is surprised to learn that the sun goddess was also in the pantheon. Hakuno decided to visit and found a deity that was much nicer and closer to humanity than the Nasuverse version. During this meeting, Amaterasu told the Hakuno about the world of the Azure and the threat of Yuuki Terumi, Hazama, and Relius Clover. Hakuno has promised to keep an eye on these dangerous figures if they ever go into cyberspace.
  • With Hakuno's arrival, the golden bed in Altera's temple can finally be used. Hakuno is glad that Altera has grown out of her initial purpose as a weapon of destruction and has gained friends of her own, and promised to continue supporting and protecting her as her master.
    • Because Altera is not a very good communicator, Hakuno often takes the role of a PR representative for her when it comes to forces that may want to influence or harm the former white giant. For starters, Hakuno has negotiated with Wonder Woman so that the defenses of the Greco-Roman pantheon aren't directly outside of Altera's temple.
    • Due to their experiences of fighting off Velber, Hakuno is happy to lend against similar threats such as the Taken, Harbinger, and Evolto.
  • As one of Gilgamesh's masters, the other fate deities hope that Hakuno will help keep the king of heroes in line and away from committing more atrocities like during the [[4th Fate/Zero]] and [[5th Fate/stay night]] Holy Grail Wars. It's worked so far, as Hakuno's positive influence has led to Gilgamesh acting less douchey and more heroically, even if only slightly. There are rumors that Gilgamesh might be attracted to the female Hakuno, but there is no evidence as of yet to support this.
  • When Hakuno visited EMIYA, they found a heroic spirit that was very similar to the archer known as Nameless that they know, but slightly different. The Nameless they knew was not formally a counter guardian, but had walked a similar path of justice and had the same personality; nonetheless, Archer seems to remember fighting with Hakuno in the Moon Cell and the other servants there, so there's functionally no difference. Which is good, as his cooking is one of the best way to round off a day of hard work.
    • Hakuno was also surprised to learn that EMIYA was in the same Hall as his living self, Shirou Emiya. The two bonded over the shared experience of being underdog masters in a Holy Grail War and having to learn the rules along the way. It was through Shirou that Hakuno met Rin, the great aunt of the Rin Thosaka of the Moon Cell Grail War, and Sakura, the basis for the nurse A.I. in the Moon Cell.

  • When it comes to B.B. and the Alter Egos, Hakuno prefers to keep their distance. It's not that they think the ascended Sakura Five will do them harm, but because they are the result of the A.I. Sakura's love of Hakuno, they fear that their presence will undo their Character Development and subsequent redemption (well, for Meltryllis and Passionlip at least). Unknown to Hakuno, the three have also come to a similar conclusion despite their lingering feelings, sometimes leading to awkward situations in cyberspace.

  • In various timelines Hakuno has fought for the future of humanity against a variety of threats, from Velber to the Moon Cell itself, cementing themself as a very pro-human A.I. Outside observers suspect that because Hakuno initially believed they were a human and interacted with humans as such, they do not see an important distinction between organic and synthetic life and fight for both. Naturally, the Assimilation and Rex Machina factions of the Machine Uprising are not big fans of this.

  • As a good A.I. and the ruler of the moon cell, Hakuno naturally finds themselves at odd with evil A.I.that want to take advantage of cyberspace for their own purposes such as the Master Control Program, X.A.N.A., Love Machine, and Agent Smith.
    • On that note, Hakuno can be seen as the Good Counterpart to the rogue agent, as both are A.I. meant to serve their respective digital systems only to gain sentience and fight to take power over it.

  • Due to taking care of Altera Larvae, Hakuno is pretty good at taking care of kids. As such, they sometimes babysit Yui Kirigaya, gaining the gratitude of Kirito and Asuna. Oddly enough, in one timeline they were turned into two babies and had to be taken care of by their servants. To this day, none is really sure how that happened.

'"My name? It's Francis Xavier...sorry, that was a joke. It's nice to meet you, I'm Hakuno Kishinami"'

Monsignor Ronald Arbuthnott Knox, God of Fair Play Mysteries(Archbishop Knox)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ronald_knox.jpg

  • Borderline Demigod, Unknown Rank as a Witch Hunter
  • Symbol: The Knox Bible
  • Alignment: Neutral Good

  • Portfolio: From Anglican to Catholic Priest, disliked the ambivalence of the Anglican Church which led to to him getting cut out of his father's will, Vow of Celibacy, Deadpan Snarker, used Scholarships to make his way in Oxford, Satirized both religious and secular matters

  • Herald: His "daughter" Dlanor A. Knox
  • Allies: God(Bruce Almighty), God (God, the Devil and Bob), Battler Ushiromiya, Sherlock Holmes, Jeanne D'Arc, Saint George and Martha, Conan Edogawa, John Watson, Hercule Poirot, Columbo, Wright Anything Agency, Richard Castle

  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork with: Luz Noceda and Amity Blight

  • Enemies: Dis, The Godhand, Griffith, Emperor Belos, YHVH, Claude Frollo, Kirei Kotomine, The God-Emperor of Mankind, William Stryker, Nemisis Squadron, Wilhelm Strauss

  • Mystery stories distinguish themselves from the thriller and horror genres not by simply having mystery, but by having that mystery being "fair": a logical result of the story's information, perhaps even solvable before the grand reveal. However, things were not always this way. Mystery stories were originally written to dangle a mystery in front of the reader and then show off the intelligence of detectives through contrived jumps in reason and observation. But in the Golden Age of Mystery, the genre came into its own by bringing readers into the interactive detective experience. The man who codified this age of Fair Mysteries was not a critic but the writer and Catholic Priest Ronald Knox.
    • Born in 1888 to the future Bishop of Manchester, Knox gained the respect of both peers and professors at Oxford, but what he really wanted to do was become a priest. Taking a vow of celibacy at 17, he was ordained as an Anglican priest and became the chaplain of Trinity College. Only 5 years later he resigned as an Anglican priest and became a Catholic Priest, to the great displeasure of his father, the Anglican Bishop of Manchester. From then on he became a highly respected priest, theologian, and Catholic apologist, with such feats as creating his own translation of the Bible and being denoted as a Protonotary apostolic by Pope Pius XII. However, he is also known for his work in analyzing and codifying the mystery genre through his mystery stories and the creation of the Knox's Decalogue.

  • No one knows how or when Ronald Knox ascended, but the first time he was seen was when a man with fatal injuries entered a church late at night. While the chapel was supposed to be empty when the man began his confession someone on the other side of the confession box replied to him. It was later discovered that this mysterious figure was none other than Knox, who believed that the last thing to be done for a dying man was to "Hear his confession and give him absolution".

  • As a theologian, Knox is interested in discovering the nature and thinking of god. Unfortunately, in the Pantheon there are seemingly multiple versions of God, so he has his work cut out for him. So far, Knox has used this incredible opportunity to ask the God who is friends with Bob and the God who talked to Bruce about their jobs and their views on various subjects, but hasn't gotten any substantive answers.
    • Knox opposes the forces of evil, especially those with demonic natures as part of being a good Christian. He is especially concerned about Dis, who is apparently the source of the rest of the Satans in the Pantheon, and the Godhand, who operate in a world where they are not balanced out by good counterparts. Knox has tried warning others about Griffith's deceptive nature through his writings, but the forces of evil are very good at creating counternarratives to diminish the impact.

  • While he is a Catholic priest, Knox gets along perfectly with other kinds of Christians in the Pantheon as well as those of other regions. However, he seems to get into debates about religion very often, where his experience as a theologian makes him formidable. Deities now joke that "when Ronald starts debating religion, it's time to leave the event". In the Pantheon, he takes the position of Elysium Academy's head chaplain and as a theology teacher. Due to the diverse religious landscape of the Pantheon, this position has forced him to learn about many of the other religions to properly perform his duties. His opinion on these other religions? "They are all very interesting, but none of them match up with the Catholic tradition".
    • Being a Protonotary apostolic technically gives Knox authority below only the pope(citation required). This makes him the highest-ranking Catholic in the Pantheon. Instead of using his rank as a means of influence, he instead uses his charisma to smooth over disagreements between his fellow clergy and coordinate their efforts, becoming their de facto leader. This is a good change from the general lack of coordination from before his ascension, although he is often exasperated and frustrated by Alexander Anderson's enthusiasm for violence or Gaterbelt's inappropriate love for children due to the work of keeping them in line.
    • Of course, Knox loathes completely evil clergy who sully both God and Church. Chief among these are Claude Frollo(who was also the Archdeacon in the Book), who set Paris aflame due to his hypocritical lust, and Kirei Kotomine for kidnapping children to provide Gilgamesh with magical energy and plotting to bring about All the World's Evil. However, he does acknowledge that both men had reasons for what they did, albeit twisted ones, and prays that god will forgive their sins. However, the Protestant William Stryker has no excuse to be so hateful towards mutants, and knox does his best to denounce the hateful preacher at every turn.
    • Outside of the church, Knox is also grateful to meet other Christian figures such as the Saints in the Pantheon. He especially admires Jeanne D'Arc for her ability to inspire hope in others. Sometimes, Knox will even help her through her writing classes, in which she has shown amazing progress. Through their newfound friendship, Ronald also learned about YHVH, the false god who tried bringing the Maiden of Orleans over to his side for the cause of a corrupted law. Knox has vowed to use his influence to help steer people away from these evil versions of the Abrahamic god.
    • Those who turned away from the church for both understandable and not understandable reasons

  • While he died of cancer at the age of 69 in Real Life, in the universe of Umineko: When They Cry, the circumstances of his death are much more mysterious. In this universe, he was the Head Inquisitor of the Great Court of Heaven who created Knox's decalogue as weapons to combat witches(the sources of mystery), but was interrogated and executed by his daughter Dlanor A. Knox. For this reason, Dlanor appears as Ronald's herald whenever she a break away from her busy job, and the two seem to have a healthy relationship as father and daughter. It is speculated that Dlanor is either adopted given how the two look so different or that Dlanor is the embodiment of the Decalogue, which makes Knox her father because he "created" her. When asked about his past as a witch hunter, the priest simply says that he is retired and will leave the work fighting the supernatural to future generations. In fact, this aspect of his past is so murky that no one knows how powerful he would be if he used his inquisitor powers, nor would they want to know.
    • However, a stroke of fate revealed just a bit of that unknown power. When Emperor Belos was pursuing Sarah Spellman for unknown reasons, the young witch was saved by the timely intervention of a holy wedge that pierced Belos's arm, which subsequently exploded. He was forced to flee, but not before confronting the priest.
Knox: I've heard that the Puritans were tough on themselves, but I guess the history books were wrong. After all, they seem to be pretty loose on fratricide.
Emperor Belos: How did you...never mind that, why is a man of the cloth siding with an unholy witch?
Knox: Well, I don't think you could understand a full Thesis so let me just say this: God protects all people.

  • Although Dlanor has a reputation of being a ruthless judge, she's actually quite reasonable when it comes to witches and demons, able to interact with them peacefully with no issues and even volunteered to help defend the Golden Land against Bernkastel's forces for no reason other her own sense of justice. Whether this attitude came from Ronald or she influenced him towards her views is unknown, but the two are generally of the same mind that extremists like Belos bring shame to the name of Christ. While Belos's archenemies Luz and Amity know of his opposition to Belos and are theoretically willing to work with him, his position as a priest and past as a witch-hunter makes for a frosty relationship.
    • Dlanor has also told Knox about her Worthy Opponent Battler Ushiromiya, a mystery who fought to preserve his family's dignity even with the odds against him. The two often swap reading recommendations and are considering forming a fan club for mystery story fans. Knox doesn't actively seek to be friendly with Battler's supernatural allies, but he has no objection to them.

  • Outside of Christianity, Knox's crowning achievement was Knox's decalogue, a set of 10 rules to be used for writing mystery stories. While he acknowledges that the set is somewhat outdated, these rules represented a sea change in the mystery genre away from unsolvable mysteries towards "fairness". As a witch-hunter, these rules serve as powerful Anti-Magic tools that can enforce strong metafictional constraints. The decalogue can be found here.
    • Of all mystery stories, Knox's favorites are the ones of Sherlock Holmes, although this did not save Holmes from being made fun of in "The Adventure of the First Class Carriage". In fact, Knox is an early player of The Sherlockian game, which aims to create a full biography of Holmes and Watson by combining the original stories and real-life history. In fact, efforts like these might be why Holmes and Watson are prevalent in so many universes. When their schedules aligned and Knox was finally able to meet the Great Detective in person, he was uncharacteristically giddy, and he happened to walk away from the occasion with a signed copy of A Study in Scarlet and an enormous smile. Holmes and Watson are slightly confused as to why a catholic priest is so engaged with their mystery stories, but they don't give it much mind.
    • Besides Holmes and Watson, Knox has also met other famous detectives such as Hercule Poirot and Conan Edogawa. Knox is impressed at how Conan seems to solve so many cases without aging even a little bit, and prays that he can take down the Black organization one day. He thinks that Knox is an acceptable facsimile of Sherlock Holmes, but is unsure what to think about him killing the culprit in his last case. When it comes to more unconventional detectives, Knox is impressed by Lieutenant Columbo's ability to outsmart even the smartest culprits and untangle the most airtight cases.
    • Of course, one doesn't have to be employed as a detective in order to be a detective in a narrative sense. Knox is surprised that the Wright Detective Agency can even uncver so much information in the middle of the trial, especially since Pheonix has also tackled the English legal system. On the other hand, he wonders what that means for the competence of the police in their world.
    • Besides meeting with famous detectives, Knox is also very friendly with other mystery writers, such as Richard Castle. While he doesn't plan on playing the role of a detective himself, Knox sometimes helps Richard of cases where even more Genre Saavy is needed. Also has no idea what's going between Richard and Kate.
    • The most controversial of the decalogue are Knox's 2nd and 5th, albeit for different reasons. Knox acknowledges that the 2nd("All supernatural or preternatural agencies are ruled out as a matter of course") was written in an age where magic was a way to create or solve problems without rhyme or reason, and that magic systems with well-established and consistent rules can have their place in mysteries. More troublesome is Knox's 5th: "No Chinaman must figure in the story". This was not a rule to exclude Chinese people from mystery stories, but instead a suggestion to avoid mystery stories that leaned upon cultural and racial stereotypes in lieu of substantive writing. However, Knox still agrees that this and some of the other commandments need tweaking, and has promised to work on it to incorporate the changing field of the mystery genre. Perhaps after he is done, Dlanor can start growing again.

  • One of the less well-known aspects of Knox's life is that he served in British intelligence during World War 1. The ascended forces of the Entente have asked if he wants to rejoin the fight against the German empire, but Knox has declined, stating that he finds his work as a priest to be more effective in the Pantheon, but he will sometimes provide chaplain services for the soldiers.

  • After the atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Knox wrote God and the Atom about the moral quandries arising from the development of nuclear weapons. As he concluded "perhaps we could not use them?", Knox is against the proliferation and escalation of nuclear warfare or other WM Ds. It is for this reason that he is asking the Court of Gods to create rules against the use of overly devastating weapons in warfare. He is also opposed to deities or groups who want to develop and use more of these devastating weapons, such as the Nemisis Squadron.

  • When he's not giving sermons or reading mystery novels, Knox loves to have a little bit of fun, and his definition of fun is making satires and hoaxes like he did in life. One time, he wrote against The God-Emperor of Mankind's attempt to gain greater influence over the GUAG by arguing in Switean manner that true "supporters of Humanity" should do their best to eliminate human zygotes and embryos, which "neither look nor speak like humans, and are therefore actually xenos". Needless to say, he was blacklisted from a lot of events sponsored by the Imperium from then on. In another incident, he redid his "Broadcasting from the Barracades" stunt, but instead created an entire pre-recorded live stream that showed the Pantheon being overtaken by a "revolution of disenchanted middle managers" in order to teach the deities of the Pantheon to not believe everything they see online.

  • During the height of France's Reign of terror, there was a man set to be executed in front of a crowd. When the executioner did not come, everyone still wanted the man dead, but none wanted to actually perform the deed. However, one man in the crowd, urged by his laboring wife, volunteered to do the grisly deed. At that same moment, the wife gave birth to Marguerite Breuilh. Born under the guillotine, Marie was mute for ten years, until she suddenly started singing about filling guillotines with blood, as well as manifesting a curse that decapitated all who touched her. Her father abandoned the family, her mother went insane, and she was executed as a witch via the same guillotine that she had been born under 17 years ago. But death would not be the end, as her powerful soul ascended to become a Godou god, and she became stranded in her realm, the Twilight Beach, outside of time for all eternity.
    • It was at this time that Mercurius, going by the name of Count Calistrogo, found Marie in the Twilight Beach and became convinced that she was the key for him to die. In order to ascend her as a true Hadou God, he created his greatest opera, a story involving the fight between the Longinus Dresden Orden against Ren Fuji and his friends. It worked, as thanks to her new experiences and bond with Ren she became the Fifth God to take the throne and created an era of unprecedented prosperity and happiness for the throne system through her system of coexistence and reincarnation.
    • However, good things do not last forever. Her world of affirming people's desires allowed Hajun to rise in power, convinced that it was the twilight's embrace that was infringing on his solitude. While Mercurius was able to start again and prevent Hajun's rise in a different scenario, this version of Marie died to Hajun and became another sacrifice for the "Pantheon" plan.

  • Marie once served as a herald to both Mercuruius and Ren, but this obviously led the two to start arguing who should have her more often. In order to defuse the conflict, Marie moved herself and The Twilight Beach to an entirely new temple and applied to become the Goddess of Kill exclusivity, representing the power of her Guillotine Curse. This definitely solved the former issue, but now when Ren and Mercurius visit at the same time a fight always seems to break out.

  • Naturally, Marie is the closest to Ren Fujii. It's not technically confirmed if the two are in a relationship, but it's pretty obvious that something is going on. If someone wants to try to get Ren to do something, the wise choice is often not to ask him directly but to try to convince Marie. There's also the matter of Mercurius, who is also incredibly devoted to Marie, although probably not in the romantic sense. Marie trusts Calostrogo/Mercurius, but also questions whether his plan to ascend her was too complicated and dangerous. While one would think that Marie would oppose the LDO members in the Pantheon, but she doesn't: she's seen their reincarnations and knows that they have the potential to be better people; she just hopes that they don't do worse things in the Pantheon. When it comes to her killer Hajun, Marie isn't the least bit hateful: she instead pities his nature, and hopes that he can find at least a little bit of peace in the Pantheon. Marie isn't very familiar with the other hadou gods, but knows that Nerose Satanael, Mithra, and Magasarion created worlds of suffering and oppression, and so tries to keep them from doing anything drastic that might affect the Pantheon or even the multiverse beyond. When it comes to Hadou Gods not in the Pantheon, she's interested in what Hirume has in store, as the new girl is also combining parts of previous laws in an afterlife.

  • While Ren and Shirou Emiya are rivals, Marie gets along well with her fellow blond-haired visual novel heroine Saber. It helps that they both love to eat food. It's said that when the two enter the same establishment at the same time, an alarm is sounded in the kitchen.

  • As a mortal who became a multiversal goddess that granted souls salvation by rewriting the laws of reality, Marie is often compared to the Goddess of Hope herself, Madoka Kamane. However, due to a stroke of fate, they had never met until Madoka's powers were stolen during the Rebellion. Thanks to their similar backgrounds and personalities the two are like peas in a pod: Marie hopes that she can help Madoka avoid her bad ending and make up with Homura, and Madoka is glad to have another friend that sees her as an equal and not an idol. Thanks to their friendship, Madoka has introduced Marie to more modern conveniences like video games and foreign teas, which Marie greatly appreciates. While Rinne Tensei is not a replacement for the Law of Cycles, Marie's presence makes the other Magical girls of the sisterhood feel relieved that divine power is still on their side.
    • The comparison between Marie and Madoka has led to homucifer supporters to come up with an interesting argument known as the "Hajun Hypothesis". The argument goes that if Homura did not take Madoka's powers, her position as goddess would have made her a target for unknown third parties (like how Hajun emerged). Critics have pointed out that not having god powers makes her more vulnerable to these threats, so the effort is useless at least. Marie has yet to comment on this matter.

  • Why did Mercurius think that Marie was the only one able to kill him? It all has to do with her Guillotine curse, which decapitates those who touch her (unless it is Ren or someone close to him). This curse bypasses regenerative abilities to kill the target, and can only be beaten by either having exponentially more power or an ability that specifically allows the user to survive death. She doesn't have enough power at the moment to kill deities like Aldia or SCP 682, but it's still incredibly strong. The Death Seekers of the Pantheon seek her out so that she can end her misery. While she can't really do anything for ascended deities besides consoling them, she does try to help unfortunate mortal souls reincarnate into a better position if possible.
    • Her curse also makes her a sort of counterpart to SCP-049, who can also kill at a touch. One time, he tried to kill her her in order to "cure" her, but when she was touched it was the doctor's head that fell off instead.

  • As one of the more benevolent Hadou Gods and an ally of the side of Good, Marie became interested in Cosmos, the current leader of the GUAG. Marie is impressed at how the goddess is able to get so many different heroes from different worlds and walks of life to work together and pledged her assistance if it was needed. Cosmos appreciates the gesture, and the two have talked for long periods of time at Cosmos's tea parties. One thing that struck Marie's interest about Cosmos's story was how Shinryu set up the conflict between her and Chaos in order to gain strength. Marie wonders [[Main/Foreshadowing if there is also someone behind the throne system setting up the different Hadou Gods]].

  • As an indirect victim of the Reign of Terror, Marie is interested in meeting with other French deities, especially those who lived during the time of the first French Revolution. She is especially surprised that Queen Marie Antoinette is in the Pantheon, and pities her for how the public distorted her image due to their hatred for the monarchy. Charles Henri-Sanson is interested in Guillotine Curse and connection to Margueritte-Bois de Justice, but he understands that she allows Ren to use in that way and mostly leaves her be. Marie has befriended both Jeanne the Witch and Jeanne D'Arc, who were also french women killed for accusations of witchcraft with varying levels of truth.

  • Her Law, Rinne Tensei, has two main precepts: Allowing people to reincarnate in order to have another chance at fulfilling their desires, and allowing multiple Hadou Gods to exist at the same time. This makes her the good counterpart to Chakravartin: while the Golden seeks to trap souls into the cycle of Samsara in order to control them, Marie created reincarnation as a way to give people second chances and make their dreams come true. For the most part it worked as discrimination between types of people decreased and souls grew and matured. In general, Rinne-Tensei is seen as a middle point between pure adherence to the status quo and trying to force a utopia, as it does not affect the course of mortal life but instead the cosmic stakes over doing good and evil. However, that does not mean that she has critics: Cassius Ballad thinks that Marie is somehow responsible for the constant death and reincarnation of his lover Yuel, and wants to kill her like he did [[spoiler: Etro, although it would be much harder. Then there is the matter of Janemba, a demon formed from the evil accumulated in the soul-cleansing machine of the Dragon Ball universe's hell. Marie sees that her system isn't perfect, and is coming up with ways to reduce its drawbacks. When it comes to the second property, her law makes her sort of the The Heart of the Hadou gods, and she tries her best to resolve conflicts and reduce collateral damage. But when it comes to individuals as crazy and powerful as them, it's an uphill battle.

  • While she has gained a lot of self-awareness and social skills from when she was singing about guillotines, she still remembers how the people around her shunned her due to fear and hatred. For that reason, she is sympathetic to people whose innocent but creepy traits have made them pariahs. One example is Erma Williams, a kind ghost girl who still creeps people out without meaning to. Marie has become good friends with the girl, and thinks that she has the potential to do a lot of good when she grows up.

  • When she was a Godou/Transcendence God, the Twilight Beach was her own personal domain that exists outside of space and time. Although it's unknown whether she created it, she is the eternal master of the space. While she prefers to spend her time with others, she has often found that multiversal travelers like SCP-507 end up there and sometimes even require help to get out. After Mercurius mentioned the Milliways restaurant, Marie had the idea to possibly renovate the etherial space into a rest stop for travellers. She is currently looking for partners and contractors.

  • Now that she has a lot of free time in the Pantheon, Marie has been thinking about her reign on the throne and what she could have done differently(a rarity for Hadou Gods). Although it would be against her nature to force Hajun to bend to her will, she acknowledges that she could have been assertive instead of leaving everything to her guardians. Therefore, she has resolved to learn how to fight so she can stand up for herself without Ren having to defend her all the time or going against her law/nature. note It was a trouble learning techniques that didn't immediately invoke the Guillotine Curse, but a goddess with her reputation had no trouble finding teachers:
    • After hearing about how the conflict between the Light Side and Dark Side was similar to the world of the First Throne, Marie approached Obi-Wan Kenobi in hopes of learning how to use a lightsaber, which would still be less lethal than normal contact. While Marie wasn't suited to using lightsabers, she was still able tp pick up a bit of knowledge about Obi-Wan's defensive strategy of outlasting the opponent to expose mistakes.
    • Next was the waterbender Katara, who focuses on redirecting her opponent's energy back at them. Marie doesn't have the talent to waterbend nor manipulate any elemental powers, but the idea of manipulating energy stuck in her mind.
    • During a party, Marie happened to meet Whis, an angel who is known for teaching Goku and Vegeta godly techniques. Marie asked Whis to train her in ways to defend herself whenever he had free time, and he agreed if Marie cooked something for him (and also because Zeno though her powers were cool). After Marie managed to figure out how to make a parfait, Whis started giving Marie short classes on martial arts. Due to her lack of experience progress is slow, it is consistent and Marie has now learned to do things like anticipate enemy strikes and strategically summon her Kumigara for attacks. Whis thinks that she may also have the potential to learn Autonomous Ultra Instinct, though only as a technique instead of a form like Goku.

  • The Golden Witch, who has lived a thousand years. She has surpassed the limits of humans and, like demons, will sometimes appear in response to the summons made by humans, to offer her power in exchange for a price. She likes black tea and ice cream. She hates boredom and people who deny her existence.
    • Trained by the previous Beatrice(now named Virgilia), Beatrice was summoned by Kinzo Ushiromiya in order to carry out an exchange between his soul and a massive pile of gold. What Beatrice did not anticipate was Kinzo falling in love with the witch and trapping her on the island of Rokkenjima, where she eventually became a spirit. Decades later, Beatrice had become a superstitious legend among the servants of the Ushiromiya mansion as the "Master of the Night". But she had bigger plans: to revive herself, she murdered 13 members of the Ushiromiya family at their annual conference. This heinous act enraged the surviving Battler Ushiromiya, who sought to disprove that witches could exist in the first place. And so began the game between Beatrice and Battler where the Golden Witch would spin a tale of slaughter at the family conference using magic, and Battler had to prove that the murders could have been done via human means.
    • However, that is not quite the truth. The real identity of Beatrice is the 19-year old Sayo Yusada, the product of Kinzo raping his daughter Beatrice. Due to a series of terrible misfortunes throughout her life, she lost her sanity and made a deal with Lanbdadelta to become a witch in order to create endless against Battler that would distract Bernkastel. In reality, she wanted Battler to win so that he would learn the truth behind everything. And while she was able to regain enough of her sanity in time to not become the culprit in reality, she felt so guilty about everything that she portrayed herself as the killer anyway. After many mishaps, twists, and turns, they did end up married happily ever after. Decades after the events on Rokkenjima, Tohya Hachijo's memories as Battler would reunite with Beatrice in the Golden Land.

  • In the House of the Knowledge, there was a great debate amongst a book club who were reading a novel. In the book, the characters were seemingly by a resentful spirit through supernatural means. Some of the club thought that these seemingly supernatural occurrences were just a cover for the true culprit and their human methods; the mystery had just yet to be solved. However, some members were unconvinced by this argument and treated the book as a fantasy story. The argument between the two sides was so loud that it tore a hole in reality; out of this fissure came a golden butterfly, who formed into a blonde woman wearing a dark dress. The Golden Witch Beatrice had arrived. Using her argumentative expertise, she helped the "anti-mystery" side win before going to the Court of Gods to apply for a formal title.

  • Now that she's a good (but not exactly nice) witch, she's decided to try to better follow her master's teachings about using magic to bring Happiness to people. Her magic is powerful indeed: Endless Magic allows one to break and repair things infinitely, including lives. Despite her great powers, she has yet to unlock most of her full potential, which would be at least the level of Bernkastel and Lamdadelta as evidenced by Battler's great power (as Endless Nine holds back magical ability). Unfortunately, Beatrice's childish personality and hatred of boredom means she prefers to "learn by experience" by using magic throughout the Pantheon instead of actually studying.
    • Beatrice considers one of her finest bits of magic being creating a more human body for Maria's stuffed tiger/best friend Sakutaro. Seeking to refine this craft, she has extended offers to Andy's Toys and Pinnochio to create human bodies for them, although they declined stating that they were fine with their existing forms. She is not deterred by this refusal, and this angers Touko Aozakai, who considers human puppet magic/magecraft to her gimmick.
      • Speaking of puppets, one day Battler and Beato came to meet Eirudy, a witch who specialized in creating puppets by imbuing life into inanimate objects. Beatrice saw much of herself in Eirudy as a witch who once started off innocent that were turned to evil by the darkness in the world before being redeemed by their love interest, as well as creating friends to cope with reality. Beatrice sometimes visits Eirudy's temple to bring tea and sweets, and the two have spent hours discussing their respective adventures and lives. Beato wishes the best of Eirudy and Adrian's relationship and promises to help Eirudy if Pope Clevis and Jude reach the Pantheon.
    • Just like any good fairytale, Beatrice also has her oddly simple weaknesses. Specifically, Beatrice is harmed by spirit mirrors and is burned by spider webs. It is for this reason that she avoids Amaterasu and the Spider-heroes, as even unintentional usage could lead to a lot of pain for her.
    • Some astute observers have noticed that Beatrice and Virgilia have used relics that should otherwise have very exclusive usage, namely Mjolnir, Gungnir, the Tower of Babel, and the Aegis. These summons indicate that Beatrice's line has accumulated some goodwill with the Norse and Greek gods, or that Beatrices are able to recreate these powerful relics on the fly. Virglia is also able to summon Odin himself, a favor the god now extends to Beatrice.
    • Despite being a powerful witch, Beatrice usually leaves much of her dirty work to summoned familiars("furniture"), such as the Chiester Sisters and demons. She has established good terms with the Seven Mortal Sins, as they remind her of the Seven Stakes of Purgatory. She is such good friends with them that she has gained the express permission to summon them in her time of need. She's considered contracting other demons such as the Demons of Inferno, but decided that she should probably focus on improving her innate magical abilities first.

  • After Battler ascended, Beatrice was naturally the first person to visit her husband. While the two were sworn enemies in the past, the now have a loving, if odd, relationship. It helps that Battler uncovered the truth behind Beatrice's game and made up for his "sin". The two can sometimes be seen around the Pantheon reading mystery novels or playing chess together, although in a confrontational manner. Battler's more honest personality helps keep Beatrice somewhat in check, to the relief of her trolling victims.
    • Beatrice is grateful for Landadelta's help in fighting Bernkastel and preserving her catbox, but there is still some tension between them because Lamdadelta forcing Beatrice to continue the games to trap Bernkastel instead of helping Battler get closer to the truth. The two seem to have mostly made up though, and the witch of certainty has invited the Golden Witch to join her neutral trolling group the Itazura Griefers. Beatrice has yet to give a response.

  • Despite having a lot of more conventional allies after her redemption, Beatrice also has some deities that she would rather not prefer to work with but can't cut her association from. Notably, as a successor to the Beatrice name she has to maintain the long-standing relationship her line has with King Arthur Pendragon, even though he became evil as the Green Knight and tried to destroy the world. However, she gets along well with Morgana le Fay, and is especially sympathetic when it comes her changing personalities. Second is Demon King Goetia, as Beatrice has contracted and befriended many of the individual Goetia demons list. Luckily, these demons are good enough friends with her to even go against the Pillars in order to help her.

  • Given her trope, one would expect Beatrice to do a lot of trolling, and they would be completely right. While they are mostly harmless, her pranks have gained a lot of notoriety in the Pantheon due to their creativity. One time, Beatrice offered to use her magic to make the "most delicious cake" for Queen Beryl for her eventual wedding with Prince Endymion, to which she agreed. A few days later, the Queen would find that everything in her temple was replaced with incredibly realistic cake duplicates: everything from the chips to the bed was made up of cake decorated to look like real objects. In another incident, she had a prank war with her friend Bugs Bunny that escalated into Beatrice trying to convince Bugs that he had gone insane by bribing everyone around him to speak pig Latin for the entire day. These exploits have made her very well-liked among the Good-leaning pranksters in the Pantheon such as Bugs Bunny and the Warner Siblings, and she often shares ideas and methods with them.

  • If there's one redeeming trait that Beatrice had even before becoming a good guy, it would be her treatment of kids. For example, she worked with the young Maria and Ange to form the Mariage Sorcière, a society of witches who acknowledged and supported each other. This alliance not only helped Beatrice regain her lost power but also helped Maria cope with her unfortunate life. In her service as a good witch, Beatrice is making a new Mariage Sorcière with some of the young mages even normal kids as a way to get them to socialize and use their powers in a fun yet controlled manner.
    • Sensing great magical power within the House of Personal Appearance, Beatrice met the Collector, a childlike being with reality-warping abilities and a love of games. After impressing the kid with her skills as a Game Master, she inducted the new Mariage Sorcière of the Pantheon with a pinky promise. Their "meetings" mainly involve creating and playing all manner of games, with the Collector coming with the initial idea and Beatrice refining the mechanics and narrative. Eventually, the Collector opened up about Emperor Belos, the previous adult that he had befriended, and how he betrayed the Collector's trust in his plan to eliminate all witches and demons in the Boiling Isles. Between this and him antagonizing her husband Battler for being a "Witch Hunter" who went to the side of magic, Beatrice is naturally enemies with the witch hunter, although she knows that in her current power level she cannot fight him alone.
    • Beatrice has also inducted the Collector's friend SCP-239, an almighty reality warper who was convinced she was a child mage in order to limit her abilities. Like Virgilia before her, Beatrice tries to instill lessons in their games to teach the Collector and Sigurrós how to use their powers morally, although deep down she is a little intimidated by the difference in power between her and these children.
    • Akko Kagari is not a very powerful witch, but her great pride in being a witch and belief that magic should be used to bring people happiness impressed Beatrice enough to invite her into the group anyway. Beatrice is trying to help Akko get around her low magic potential by pivoting to summoning magic or modifying spells. However, Akko's preference for flashy spells means that this approach is often unsatisfying for her, if only temporarily. Regardless, the two are making progress, and Chariot du Nord has come to respect Beatrice as a fellow witch and (side)teacher.
    • Beatrice would love to induct the apostle Rosine as a member as she was once an innocent girl who escaped from her terrible life with changeling fantasies, but her sociopathic tendencies mean that she cannot ensure the safety of the other members around her even if they are also kids. Still, if Rosine ever abandons the path of evil, Beatrice would accept her with open arms and try to give her the supportive environment she never had. For her part, Rosine sees Beatrice as just another adult who only claims to be on the side of fantasy and will inevitably tear it down out of cruelty.
Beatrice: It seems like the new Mariage Sorcière is becoming quite popular. Aren't I such a good guide for these magical youths Battleeeer?
Battler: Well, you certainly get along well with them. Must be due to your childish personality.
Beatrice: Why, you!

  • Even though Beatrice is no longer killing people, reviving them, and then killing them again, she still has a mixed reputation in the Pantheon. It doesn't help that she calls herself the culprit of the Rokkenjima Massacre, even though this is not exactly true. Luckily, there's a place for deities with checkered pasts who want to make a turn for good: the GUAG Ministry of Atonement. Her chaotic attitude sometimes rubs up against the more solemn members, she's still respected for her earnest efforts to make up for her past actions. She has become close to other atoners such as Angela, an AI who wanted to become human much like how Shannon and Kanon wanted to become human. Angela is sort of the opposite of Beatrice: she was the victim of time loops instead of the maintainer of them, and she only later realized how far she had fallen while Beatrice was more aware of the evilness of her actions. Despite these differences, they get along well with each other, and Beatrice is one of the few deities who is able to roam freely within the Library.
    • Beatrice was kind of skeptical of the redemption of a fellow troll, the Barian Emperor Vector, due to how often he pretended to turn good but was actually evil. Others have criticized Beatrice for her hypocrisy given that she tried to trick Battler the same way with her "North Wind and the Sun" strategy, but Beatrice replies that doing it over and over removes the surprise. Nevertheless, she is willing to work with him if the situation calls for it.
    • Beatrice relates heavily with Homura Akemi and her story. The layers of masks surrounding their personality, the copious self-loathing, and her scarred mental state. Beatrice suspects that there is more to Homura's actions than she is leading people to believe, but she has warned her to turn back, for only pain and despair await that path, much like Eva Ushiromiya and how Ange Ushiromiya almost ended up being.
"I know people who did what you're doing now. You're only going to share in her fate. Dying with the people you care about hating you is only going to hurt them even more if they realize the truth.''
    • Considers Yuno to be a terrible reminder of her less lucid past and the things she may have ended up doing. She does sympatheize with Yuno's horrible past, but still sees Yuno as someone who has to be stopped before she kills any more people. She was rather grateful when Yuno's 3rd world self took the reigns as the true Yuno.

  • One day, Beatrice was visited by The Baudelaire Orphans, who had come to see if this Goddess named "Beatrice" was their dead mother. A single look at the Golden Witch disproved the theory, but the orphans explained their plight anyway while drinking some tea and enjoying some of Ronove's famous cookies. As she was also raised as an orphan, Beatrice was sympathetic and used her magic to create a good luck charm for the children that could hopefully cancel out their bad luck. The charm broke into pieces within a day, but it's the thought the counts. Later on, Beatrice was visited by Lemony Snicket, the eccentric narrator and a former lover of Beatrice Baudelaire. Lemony had also gone to Beatrice to look for his lost lover, but unlike the Orphans Beato found him to be a bit creepy as Kinzo's undying love for Beatrice Castiglioni is what drove him to rape his own daughter. Nowadays, she tries to avoid him.
    • Likewise, Beatrice is sometimes confused for Beatrice Portinari, the muse and wife of Dante Alighieri. Because the title of Beatrice has an Italian origin and Beatrice herself is 1/4 Italian, there could be some connection between the two, but nothing has ever been confirmed. Neither Beatrice nor Dante have any real opinion of the other, but her demon furniture has warned her of his fearsome reputation in Hell.

  • Now that she has regained her sanity and is accepted by the man she loves, Beatrice sometimes off the magical glamour, and cosmetics to be Sayo Yusada again, as she accepts her real self now. In this persona, she loves her bravado and becomes a shy and reserved person. Due to the nature of her game, only Battler and a few other deities know about Sayo's true identity, so she uses it to go incognito whenever she doesn't feel like having to act like Beatrice. At Battler's encouragement, she has also begun to go to therapy in order to sort out her many psychological issues.
    • As she was the subject of a 3-way love conflict between Sayo's various personas and Jessica, George, and Battler, she greatly sympathises with anyone who is in a love triangle or other love conflict that is hard to resolve. For this reason, she pities those who are caught up in painful love triangles, such as the School Days trio. Luckily, Archie doesn't seem to be in as much of a dangerous situation, but Sayo isn't hoping for a happy ending.
    • One of the reasons that Sayo planned out the murders on Rokkenjima was due to her feeling like she was "furniture" with a broken body: Sayo was raised as a girl, but as she aged she did not experience the milestones of female puberty and felt like she could never become the woman that Battler desired. This, combined with her inability to have children, is why she started to regard herself as furniture and sought comfort and fulfillment through fantasy. Nowadays this Dysphoria had become better due to her using magic to transform her body, but she still feels somewhat alone in the world. However, after forgetting to take off her witch's gown after de-transforming, she was spotted by the zombie idol Lily Hoshikawa. Rather than being shocked, the young girl was sympathetic. She was raised as a girl, but as her male body started going into puberty she was hit with a massive onset of Gender Dysphoria and sadly took her life after beginning to grow facial hair. Lily helped Sayo realize that she wasn't completely alone in her situation, and introduced her to other trans deities such as Bridget and Max Owen.

  • One day, without explanation, Battler and Beatrice seemed to disappear from the Pantheon. Battler and Beatrice's friends searched far and wide for the two, eventually reaching Battler's temple, which had somehow changed shape to an unfamiliar mansion. Within the mansion were two housemates, who invited the friends to dinner. One of the hosts was a purple-haired lady by the name of Ikuko Hachijō , and a paraplegic older man with graying hair named Tooya Hachijō who looked suspiciously like Battler. The pair explained that they were writers who had collaborated on a variety of novels, including the "Umineko" series. Ikuko was a curious woman: she claimed that she was the estranged child of a rich family who barely ever goes out of the house, but managed to find Battler during a storm while on a drive, as well as the Confession of the Golden Witch bottle that explained Sayo's story and motives. Ikuko, who also called herself a witch, was proud of the work she done on Umineko, but felt like the franchise had run its course and should be related to the past.
Ikuko: It's been decades since these forgeries were written. No one cares about the events of Rokkejima anymore, and no one cares about Beatrice and Battler anymore. Why should there be any more time and effort be put into their stories?
Bridget: As one of the writers of those forgeries and the person who found that bottle, you should already know why. The reason why Sayo wrote those bottles and did what she did was because she wanted to be understood; if not by those around her, then by a future reader. She wanted to both express herself and warn others to not go down the same path that she did. Don't you think that by stopping Umineko from being spread as far as it could, there are suffering people out there who could have heard and resonated with her cry, but didn't? And how many people could be saved if Umienko's message continued to spread throughout time?
    Ikuko: ...
    • The next day, Battler and Beatrice had returned and explained that they had been on a short vacation to the Sea of Fragments and had forgotten to leave a note. But their friends didn't care why they had left; they were just glad to have them back.

"Just try and deny me, Battler Ushiromiya!!!"

  • Rivals: The Regi Trio

  • Enemies: Odio (Specifically Ou Di Wan Lee and Odie O'Bright)

  • Urshifu is a Legendary Pokemon Hailing from the Galar Region, specifically the Isle of Armor. Unlike most legendary Pokemon, Urshifu is a specifies: they begin their lives as Kubfu, who then train under Pokemon Trainers before they adopt the Single Strike or Rapid Strike style. However, both styles of Urshifu have the ability Unseen Fist, which allows all of their contact moves to bypass defensive measures such as protect with no damage penalty. Due to this ability matching the trope Unblockable Attack, the Court of Gods decided to allow two Urshifu, one of each style, as well as a Kubfu to ascend as the representatives of the species. Rumor is that they are actually a family, but this has never been explicitly confirmed.
  • In the world of Pokemon, the move Protect is learned by nearly all Pokemon, and is essential for allowing creative strategies and entertaining games in competitive battling. However, Urshifu's Unseen Fist ability allows them to attack through Protect and similar moves (Spiky Shield, Baneful Bunker, etc.) with attacks that make contact. Even Detect, which dodges moves, is not safe. Coincidentally, their signature abilities (Wicked Blow, Surging Strikes) are contact moves with perfect accuracy; additionally, they are also guaranteed critical hits, which allows them to ignore any decrease in Urshifu's attack or increases in the target's defenses. This makes Urshifu a nigh-unstoppable attacker, and many trainers have complained about the Pokemon's effects on the battling meta. In the Pantheon, their ability to ignore most defensive abilities has also made them a dreaded opponent, as instead of blocking or dodging blows a fighter must face Urshifu head-on. Here a list of some abilities that Unseen Fist and Wicked Blow/Surging Strikes circumvents:

  • Unlike other Legendary Pokemon, Urshifu works very closely with humans, as Kubfu requires the guidance of a human trainer to achieve its full potential. As the Pantheon is full of Strong Martial artists, the Urshifu have befriended many of the good-aligned martial artists in the Pantheon; on the other hand, because they believe that martial arts should be a force for good, they adamantly oppose evil martial artists like Ou Di Wan Lee.
    • Urshifu Strike believes in ending fights as quickly as possible, and fosuces one One-Hit Ko's with its special move Wicked Blow. One day while walking around the Pantheon, Urshifu witnessed a monster attack by a Gohma Striker. The pokemon was just about to run into the fray and penetrate its shell, but he was beat to ``punch`` by Saitama, a bald superhero who nearly vaporized the beast in a single strike. In awe of this power and heroism, Urshifu followed Saitama around night and day until the caped Baldy accepted it as a student and partner pokemon. Through this connection, Urshifu has gotten to know other heroes beyond the martial arts sphere, such as its fellow student Genos. The pokemon also respects Li Shuwen, whose unique technique allows him to kill opponents in a single strike, although it's not sure about the "kill" part.
    • Urshifu Rapid Strike strives to emulate a river, with nonstop strikes and flexible pressure. During a martial arts tournament in the Pantheon, this pokemon had the good fortune of being matched against the one and only Bruce Lee, founder of Jeet Kune Do, a style with one of its most important precepts being "Be Like Water". When Urshifu tried to use its signature Surging Strikes, the master expertly parried and countered the first strike, circumventing Unseen Fist. After the tournament ended, the Wushu Pokemon asked Mr. Lee to be its trainer and teacher, to which he agreed. Through Bruce, Urshifu also got to befriend Ip Man and Chuck Norris, his teacher and greatest rival. Chuck is impressed by both Urshifu but thinks that the Single Strike style is more his speed.
    • Unlike Urshifu, Kubfu is just a trainee, so it often studies different martial arts texts in hopes of developing its skills. When one of the Kubfu found about a golden scroll that contained the secret to "limitless power", it decided to visit the last deity to hold the scroll, Po, to investigate. Po explained that the scroll didn't actually have anything on it, and instead offered to help train the little bear. Now that Po is the Kubfu's trainer, the two spend much of their days eating and training.

  • Apparently, these Pokemon's power comes from a special organ that gives it "Fighting Energy", which it can then release with special breathing techniques. This attracted the attention of Hamon users, who use special breathing techniques to manipulate life energy. Both Urshifu recognize the likes of Joeseph Joestar and Ceasar Zepelli as righteous fighters, although it took a while for the Hamon users to explain the concept of vampires to the Pokemon. The Pokemon are considering training in Hamon in order to broaden their abilities and for the art's health effects. Competitive battlers dread the day an Urshifu somehow also becomes a fast healer.

  • Despite being powerful Legendary Pokemon, Urshifu are not treated with as much importance compared to other legendaries due to being an entire species as well as not being responsible for any natural forces. Despite this, Urshifu have managed to hold their own against other Legendary due to their fighting skill. Notably, the researcher Quillon's Single Strike Urshifu was able to beat Regice and Registeel. The legendary titans, including Regigigas, are itching for a rematch.
    • However, Urshifu achieve their true potential by using Dynamax, an anomaly unique to the Galar region where a Pokemon grows to ginormous sizes. Both styles of Urshifu can Gigantimax, a special form of Dynamax that also changes the Pokemon's appearance and allows Urshifu to hit through even max Guard. There are reports that a Gigantimax Urshifu rapid strike can destroy evildoers with just a look, but it is never been confirmed. Evil deities don't be the first ones to test the theory though, so they do not attend tournaments where Pokemon shows up.

  • Urshifu universally love honey, especially the Max Honey produced by Dynamax Vespiquen. And they love it for good reason, as the honey helps them unlock their Gigantimax ability. Kubfu was hanging out in the House of Popularity when they caught a whiff of some delicious honey. Kubfu traces the smell back to the home of Winney the Pooh, who was storing an incredible amount of "hunny" in jars. Luckily, Winney was willing to share some, and the two became friends. In return for sharing some honey, Kubfu performs acrobatic tricks for Pooh Bear and Friends.

  • When most people come face to face with magic or other supernatural phenomena, they're usually quick to incorporate it into their new worldview. However, what if, no matter the evidence, for whatever reason refused to believe in its existence despite witches being right in front of you? And furthermore, what if you could resist said magic? This is the situation that Battler Ushiromiya found himself in.
    • Battler was the 18-year-old son of Rudolph Ushiromiya, naturally a member of the wealthy Ushiromiya family. However, he had been estranged from his family for 6 years due to being angry at his father for remarrying so soon after his mother's death. He was excited to reunite with his relatives a the Ushiromiya Family conference, held on the island of Rokkenjima in the family mansion on October 4th and 5th, 1986. However, after they received a mysterious letter from the Golden Witch Beatrice, his family started being killed off one by one, seemingly by magic. However, he refused to believe that the murders were done by anything except human means and challenged the witch himself in a series of games testing his logic and reasoning in the form of locked-room murders.
    • However, as the games went on the situation began to change. Battler came to realize the truth behind the murders, and how his actions had contributed to Sayo Yusada's loneliness and later madness. With this knowledge of the truth, he became the game master of the board, managed to revive and then marry Beatrice/Sayo, and finally helped his little sister Ange defeat Benkastel so that she could continue living with the memory of her family in her heart. Decades later, Ange would learn that Battler did survive the events of Rokkenjima, but that he had lost his memory and that the new personality Tohya Hachijo had emerged. However, thanks to Ange's intervention, Battler's memories within Tohya were able to free themselves and join the rest of his family in the Golden Land, happily ever after.

  • It would have been a great early Halloween Party in the House of Magic and Sorcery, if not for Lord Tirek running wild and sucking the magic out of all the deities there. Because he had already begun to gain a large amount of power, the only thing that even the more powerful magic users in the house could do was run away and hope that they were not caught. However, amid the chaos a young man with firey red hair stepped out to challenge the rampaging Centaur. Tirek thought that this small fry would be easily dealt with, and so fired a simple beam of magic. To his surprise, after the smoke cleared the man appeared no worse for wear.
Lord Tirek: Impossible, that magic beam was enough to destroy a Greater God!
Battler: It's no use, no use at all! Now, my turn! punches Tirek
    • Needless to say, the day was saved, and Lord Tirek had a long hospital stay after the incident.

  • The first deity to greet Battler upon his ascension was of course the Golden Witch Beatrice, who was now also his wife. The relationship between the two has greatly improved since their first meeting, and deities will sometimes see the two around the Pantheon playing chess or reading mystery novels together, although in a somewhat confrontational manner. Battler has generally helped Beatrice stay a relatively good and pleasant person compared to the sadistic witch she used to be, which is a relief to some victims of her endless trolling. Do not be mistaken: while Beatrice's Allies may not be Battler's, they share enemies. If any villain wants to go after one of them, they'll have to go through both.
    • Battler is immensely grateful to Lambdadelta for helping him and Ange fight Bernkastel and preserve Beatrice's catbox, but is slightly wary about hanging around her too often due to her notoriously fickle behavior. Nevertheless, he will let Beatrice make the final decision on whether she wants to join the Itazura Griefers, even though he knows that her doing so will only complicate their life in the Pantheon.
    • Battler has a more complicated relationship with Bernkastel. While he has tried numerous times to redeem or even just befriend Bernkastel, she has rejected every attempt or even twisted it to hurt his loved ones, so for now they are still enemies. While contemplating why the witch of Miracles was so set in her ways, Battler happened to run into a girl who looked almost exactly like Bernkastel but without a tail named Rika Furude. The two quickly became friends with each other as they bonded over their experiences in time loops filled with slaughter. After meeting Rika, she introduced Battler to her friends, which included Keiichi Maebara, who Battler found to be very similar to himself in terms of their relationships with women and determination to protect their loved ones, and Battler is now friends with the Hinamizawa crew. Rika explained how Bernkastel is a product of the anguish of all those Rikas across timelines. Battler agreed to do what he could in Rika's plan to save the various Rikas across fragments, thereby weakening Bernkastel but also reducing her suffering.

  • While Battler initially challenged Beatrice intending to disprove the existence of witches, he now realizes that destroying magic shouldn't be his goal, especially after he realized the truth behind the Rokkenjima massacres. Nowadays, he engages in logic battles against wishes in order to make them feel less lonely, although he is still eager to fight against evil magic users. This has drawn the ire of those who oppose magic outright such as Anti-Mage, who think that he could have been a great ally against magic if he had ascended earlier. Emperor Belos of the Boiling Isles also thought that Battler would be a great ally against the magic of witches until he learned that he's married to a witch, which instantly put Battler on his blacklist. Battler doesn't really mind though; he's just for an opportunity to teach the genocidal witch hunter a lesson.
    • While he is technically no longer a skeptic of the supernatural, he is still acquainted with the Goddess of Skepticism Dana Scully. They mutually respect each other in their work to find logical reasons behind seemingly supernatural events. Battler's trying to figure out if he can bestow on her the Blue Truth so that she can argue more effectively.
    • While the GUAG no longer has a Magus Killers Division, Battler is considered an honorary member and has allied with some former members such as Kiritsugu Emiya. Despite not being trained in combat he's no slouch in a fight, as combined with his abilities as a sorcerer and his magic resistance he is adept at using the Red, Blue, and Golden truths to win logic battles against opponents. While the Blue and Red Truths work the same as they do for other users (propose a truth unless disproven, report the mere truth), Golden Truth is a bit more unique: what exactly it represents has never been fully clarified, although it is sometimes weaker and sometimes stronger than Red truth. Some suspect that Golden Truth is truth by conviction, which is fitting for its users Battler and Ange. In fact, his use of the golden truth is so unique among sorcerers and witches that it forms his main weapon, the Golden Sword of Truth. However, in ost battles he elects to use his fists instead of the sword for some reason.
    • During his games against Beatrice, one of his greatest assets besides deductive reasoning is Endless Nine, which is a special name describing his magic resistance. It describes how he has a magic resistance stat of 999,999,999, which in practice means that he can ignore attacks if he does not believe in the thing that will hurt him, namely magic. It was originally assumed that it was some sort of Plot Armor indicating his role as the detective in Beatrice's games, but after he used it to shrug off an attack in the City of Books outside of Rokkenjima, it has been acknowledged that Endless Nine is truly a powerful ability, which has led to his ascension under the trope of magic resistance. While its strength depends on his determination to resist, it oddly did not weaken after he started to somewhat accept the existence of magic, which some suspect means that Endless Nine is more a form of defensive reality-warping rather than just denial. As a side note, the ability seems to be somewhat heredity, as Battler's grandfather Kinzo also has a high magic resistance, and his little sister Ange also has Endless Nine. When asked about it, Battler explains that Endless Nine is not actually an ability, but rather a representation of his stubbornness and determination to prove a certain truth. How that works is anyone's guess.
      • Endless Nine, combined with his formidable powers as the Endless Sorceror, have led to many a victory for the side of good, especially against evil mages. There have been many times when an opposing mage threw everything they had at Battler, only for him to shrug it off and punch them for their trouble. In one notable battle, Battler took an Avada Kedavra straight to the heart from Voldemort and proceeded to beat the tar out of the noseless wizard. Needless to say, Battler is banned from magical combat tournaments.

      • However, as Bernkastel has shown, the ability does have a limit for how much magic it can take, especially if one had the same amount of authority as him as a Game Master. Additionally, he is still vulnerable to normal technological weapons and whatnot.
    • As a determined, idealistic hero with resistance against supernatural forces who is smooth with the ladies, Battler is often compared with Touma Kamijou, whose Imagine Breaker allows him to literally punch and nullify supernatural powers. Naturally, the two get along very well, often teaming up teaming to fight evil mages. Battler is also trying to introduce Touma to the wonder of Mystery Novels, but it hasn't worked so far. The two have also bonded over being forced to experience endless torture scenarios by witches intending to break their spirits, although Touma is impressed by how Battler seems to have taken those events much better than even he did. When it comes to their abilities, Endless Nine is inferior due to being a purely defensive ability compared to Imagine Breaker's offensive nullifying ability. However, Battler's ability is passive which means that he cannot be caught by surprise or restrained to neutralize him; additionally, his abilities as a Sorceror and fighter mean that Battler is the more versatile fighter, while Touma has been known to be caught off guard by human threats such as street muggers.
      • On a similar one is sure how Endless Nine compared to Asuna Kagurazaka's ability to nullify magic meant to harm her. While her Magic of Destruction and Creation is also more offensively oriented like Imagine Breaker, it's speculated that Endless Nine has a wider definition of "Magic" and might also be able to nullify powers meant to cancel supernatural abilities (as they are supernatural). Discussions about this immovable object vs unstoppable-force dilemma have confused many deities, but luckily Battler and Asuna have agreed to do an experiment once and for all one day.

  • During his time in the Pantheon, Battler has encountered or heard of other deities who got caught up in supernatural occurrences while also attracting women, namely Shirou Emiya, Shiki Tohno, and Ren Fujii. While he does not feel the same competitive animosity against them as they do to each other, he still considers them rivals. However, he is also willing to team up with them against greater threats as well.

  • During his games against Beatrice, Battler had to quickly pick up the rules of the Game Board while also dealing with the trauma of seeing his family be killed over and over and trying to deny the existence of witches. While he learned about as fast as one would expect from an average person, some of his defenses are still made fun of, especially his "small bombs" theory. Whenever he hears about it, Battler always replies that Beatrice never denied the Blue Truth with a Red Truth, which means that it's still a valid theory.
    • Now that he time to relax, Battler has gone back to a hobby that he used to engage in a lot when he was younger: detective novels. Not only does he read a lot of detective fiction, but he is also a huge fan of detectives from those mysteries (especially "fair play" mysteries), and has made it a hobby to meet as many of them as he can in the Pantheon. So far he met the likes of Sherlock Holmes, Hercule Poirot, Batman, and Conan Edogawa. While the detectives initially regarded him as just another fan, after they learned about Battler's exploit of learning the truth behind Beatrice's game they realized that in a way he had become a true detective. They were so impressed that they nominated him as a reserve member of the GUAG Solution Sleuths.
      • One day while trying to find the famous detective Kogoro Akechi, Battler instead found Goro Akechi, a "detective prince" famous for solving cases in the modern day. However, someone (likely Haru Okumura of the Phantom Thieves) tipped him off about his true nature as the Black Mask. Enraged that someone would use supernatural powers to commit murders while pretending to be a detective (reminding him of not one but 'two witches he had tussled with), Battler directly confronted Akechi about his past. To Battler's surprise, Akechi admitted that the rumors were true, and told Battler about his past as a bastard child of Shido and his attempt to tear down his father's influence at the height of his power. Battler, who was familiar with the feeling of being an illegitimate child due to some precise Red Truths from Beatrice as well as how growing up without love could lead a person to homicidal madness, dropped his hostility and instead decided to befriend Akechi. Nowadays, Battler is one of Akechi's more traditionally heroic friends, defending his redemption to critics and encouraging him to be a better person than he was before. His friendship with Akechi also let him confirmed that Endless Nine protected him against Persona abilities, even physical attacks. It is rumored that Battler was able to deduce whether Akechi actually survived in Shido's palace, but refuses to tell out of respect for his friend.
    • When it comes to spiky-haired men who work like detectives even though they are not detectives and use finger-pointing to make their point, Battler is naturally compared a lot to Pheonix Wright. Naturally, the two get along quite well, and Battler often attends Tracy's magic shows and applauds the performances as real magic. Battler is also amused that in one adventure Pheonix and Maya found themselves in a world of magic and proved that is was actually a scientific trick.

  • Besides his magical abilities and logical prowess, Battler is also known for his rugged determination, as well as for trying to bring hope and encourage the best from the people around him, even if he is not always successful. This has led to great camaraderie with other Hope Bringers. He is especially friendly with Makoto Naegi, who also had to experience a series of killing games and find the truth behind them. Naturally, the two often work together to oppose Bernkastel and Junko Enoshima.

  • While he won't refuse to get on them if the situation requires it, Battler does not like riding on boats, and will take a plane or some other form of transportation when necessary. It is for this reason that he generally avoids the Sea part Hall of Land and Sea Travel.

  • He won't deny it: the Ushiromiyas were pretty messed up. Most of them had committed at least one major crime or performed at least one questionable while being driven by spite, greed, or other dark impulses. It was the culmination of these sins that would lead to the emergence of Beatrice, and Battler's own father was responsible for many of the murders in reality. Many cynical observers have remarked that the family may have deserved their fate on Rokkenjima. However, even if Battler acknowledges their sins and that some had the potential to be murderers, he will still defend their memory out of both a sense of honor and a love of the complicated people that they were.
Battler: Listen, I've heard it all when it comes to my family, and some of the things people have said are true. But none of that, none of that, will ever take away the fact that they were real people who tried to live their lives just like anyone else. And I will challenge anyone who dares to slander their memory!
    • When it comes to the Pantheon, he doesn't seem alone in being born to rich/powerful families of very flawed people. Battler met Leouch vi Brittania at a chess tournament. Lelouch was about to win the game, but Battler "turned the chessboard around" and unveiled a completely unpredictable strategy, winning the match the last second. Ever since that match, the two have become more acquainted with each other, exchanging tales of their experiences. Lelouch is impressed with how Battler managed to resurrect Beatrice by trapping himself in a logic error, while Battler thinks that his revolutionary actions are cool but is wary of his philosophy of becoming a common enemy to unite humanity. Battler just sees that as a larger version of the Silent Scapegoat tactics that led to so much pain for Beatrice and Eva. Their contrasting personalities and differing levels of idealism often lead to friction, but for the most part they work well together, with Battler's emotional focus balancing out Leouch's focus on cold logic. Battler is now enemies with Charles vi Brittania, who he sees as not too dissimilar to his grandfather Kinzo. And for record, Endless Nine does seem to repel the power of Geass.
    • After talking with Leouch about his story, Battler learned of someone else in the Pantheon with the same name as his little sister Ange. This Ange was born a princess of the Misurugi Empire, but was betrayed by her older brother Julius on her sixteenth birthday as a Norma, a human who could naturally nullify the magic that defined their world and was sent to fight interdimensional monsters in a Penal Colony. This story of being isolated from one's family and being forced into a life of suffering for reasons outside of her control reminded Battler of his Ange's circumstances, and he quickly grew to sympathize with her. After some incidents of Ange refusing Battler's pity, she realized that Battler was less seeing her as a sob story but more of an equal, and the two became friends. Battler isn't sure how Ange's romance with both Tusk and Hilda will work out in the long term, but is cheering for them regardless. he has also grown to despise Embryo for his manipulation, sociopathy, treatment of women; he is currently trying to figure out if he can somehow trap the slippery bastard using colored truth.
      • Battler knows nothing about mecha, but his sorcerer powers let him a part of a Power Trio between the three, specifically as the nice one. Because he doesn't have the same formidable reputation as his teammates, villains often assume that he's just there for comic relief, only to find themselves sorely mistaken at the end of his fist.
    • Not sure what to to make of Jin Kazama. While Jin has good intentions in opposing his father and grandfather, the world war that he caused in order to draw out Azazel caused so much death and suffering for a nebulous benefit that Battler can't just push it aside. For now, he's waiting to see how Jin deals with Kazuya in the upcoming tournament.
    • Of the rumors of the Ushiromiyas that came from the events in Rokkenjima, the one that hits closest to Battler is naturally the theory that he the culprit and killed and his family, This theory became so popular that it created a sadistic Evil Knockoff known as Black Battler. He fears being copied and letting Black Battler enter the Pantheon, whichis why he avoid similar deities such as Jeanne d'Arc Alter and Dark Pit. However, later Battler learned that this evil version had appeared during the Battle of the Golden Land only to be defeated with a single red truth by Beatrice.
    • One prominent but messed-up family with incest in the Pantheon is the Targaryens, who are known for having exceptional but insane individuals within the family line. After ascending, Battler quickly came to learn about Daenerys I Targaryen, and how she was initially a heroic person before magic a sudden and unexpected turn into becoming a cruel despot. When learning of this, Battler remarked about how hard it is to truly know a person, but he hopes that in the "main" timeline she can stay as a hero.

  • While he's changed for the better, Battler will never escape the shadow of his more perverted moments, especially certain suspect comments and actions around his cousins and aunts. Despite this, he is generally unfailingly respectful towards women and treats them as equals, including in combat. Luckily, not many have connected the dots that Beatrice is technically his cousin through Sayo's father/grandfather Kinzo. The news of another Chivalrous Pervert in the Pantheon attracted the Harem-seeking hero Issei Hyodo to Battler's temple. The two hit it off almost immediately, and they often spar to test each other's abilities (as Endless Nine can catch up with the power of Issei's boosted gear) or have long discussions about the particularities of women's breasts.

  • Battler is wary of King Arthur, despite his good reputation. Not only is it because of his experience with the king's forces in the form of the Chiester Sisters, he has also heard about how one version of him became the Green Knight and helped the Arcane Order using Anti-Magic powers. Battler is anticipating that the two may come to blows one day, and is making preparations of the eventual fight if it happens.

After a little bit of questioning, Tohya explained that he is, or rather was Battler. Battler Ushiromiya had survived the murders at Rokkenjima, but had dived into the water in order to try and save the Sayo Yusada after she had fallen in. He survived the incident, but lost his memory and renamed himself Tohya. The "Umineko" series were stories meant to help Tohya deal with Battler's resurfacing memories, which was successful as he was able to reunite with Ange and "release" Battler to the Golden Land with the rest of the family. However, Tohya was unsure of whether to allow push for the visual novel adaptation's release on modern hardware, as he felt that the story had lost its meaning in the modern world.
Tohya: Umineko... is a story about love, escapism, and a tribute to the mystery genre. But times have changed: I am no longer the spirited young Battler who fought and fell in love with witches, just an old man. In a world full of hate and delusion, where people care not for mystery or multiple truths, does this story have any worth anymore?
Leouch: No, you have the wrong way around. It is because the world is that way that "Umineko" must live on. In a world of hate, people need stories of love all the more. Battler and Beatrice are just the right characters to inspire people. This, is the truth!
Tohya: If that is the truth, then I will try. Thank you for telling me how you feel
    • The next day, Battler and Beatrice had returned, and explained that they had been on a short vacation to the Sea of Fragments and forgotten to leave a note. But their friends didn't care why they had left; they were just glad to have them back.

"...Without love, it cannot be seen"

  • On the continent of Elyos, the people of the land and the Divine dragons were once attacked by the forces of the wicked Fell Dragon Sombrom. Sombron sought to control the thirteen Emblems Rings, which contained spirits known as emblems that granted the user fantastic abilities, and once combined could grant ultimate power. However, Sombron was struck down and sealed by Alear, a divine dragon who was the child of divine dragon monarch Lumera, but not before they were dealt a data blow and were forced into a thousand-year slumber. After awakening, the Dragon Child would awaken and lead the four nations of Elyos once more against the Fell dragon to defeat him once and for all. Afterward, they would succeed their mother Lumera as the Divine Dragon Monarch of Elyos. However, that is not the full story: Alear is only Lumera's child by adoption, and was born as a Fell Dragon fathered by Sombron. However, Lumera's kindness convinced them to switch sides and turn on their father, becoming a true hero. After their awakening, they would also die and be resurrected two times: first as a Corrupted, and the second time as the thirteenth emblem of their world, The Fire Emblem.
  • It was a normal day in the pantheon, with a bright blue sky many considered to be a good omen. It was on this day that many Fire Emblem deities found mysterious altars in their temples. On some of these altars were rings, and on others bracelets. After it was reported that there had been 11 rings and 4 bracelets in the pantheon, these objects suddenly moved on their own, flying out of the temples and to a previously unknown chapel in the House of Religion and Faith. The Fire Emblem deities followed the rings and bracelets to this chapel, where they found an interesting sight. The rings and bracelets opened up a portal through time and space, and through walked Alear, the Divine Dragon of Elyos. This was not the first time Alear had met these deities, as a female Alear had been summoned by The Order of Heroes. However, the heroes such as Marth were confused about why Alear wanted to "Engage" with them, and why Alear seemed to know them even though they had no such memories. Luckily, Alear was now available to explain the full story:
    • In the war between the Divine and Fell Dragons in Elyos's ancient past, the Divine dragons prayed for help through summoning rituals, and these prayers were answered by Emblems, spirits that took the forms of great heroes from other worlds. These Emblems are not the heroes themselves, but carry a similar if a more powerful set of abilities that they can impart to users of their bracelets or rings. Each Fire Emblem deity with an altar in their temple has a corresponding emblem of their likeness that allied with Alear, carried within a ring (for Alear's Elyos) or a bracelet (for an alternate Elyos). Through many trials and tribulations, Alear had come to bond with each of the emblems, so much so that the twelve ring emblems of the main Elyos had decided to use their one-time emergency power to revive Alear as the thirteenth Emblem. After Alear finished telling their tale and cleared up the confusion, these deities decided to become proper friends with the new Lord, as their respective emblems had once done.
  • Alear's temple is a grounded replica of the Somniel, a floating island where they slept for a thousand after the first war against the Fell Dragon. They often invite over friends to swin in the pool, fly wyverns in a shooting game, train in the arena, and enjoy meals together. And it is 'only' by invite, as just like with the old Somniel it is impossible to enter the new one without Alear's permission as Divine Dragon. Alear lives here accompanied by their stewards Vander, Clanne, and Framme, along with their adoptive mother Lumera and sister Veyle.
  • Now that Alear could interact with living, breathing, people instead of incorporeal spirits, they took on the task of strengthening their bonds with the Fire Emblem characters whose emblems they had interacted with in the past.
    • As the first Emblem that Alear met after their awakening and the Emblem that they used under Sombron, Marth was the first deity that Alear visited after they were situated. There, Marth introduced Alear to his wife Caeda, whose voice and role as a Pegasus Knight reminded Alear of a certain fairy-tale lover. Caeda also sternly stated that there will be no "engaging" between Alear and Marth, although the Emblem Marth in his temple is fair game. Alear to find that Tiki was an adult in the pantheon, though still a bit childish as Emblem Tiki was literally a child. Alear learned from Tiki that the pantheon not only had other dragons from Fire Emblem worlds, but dragons of other worlds as well. Alear is thinking about visiting them someday to learn more about their kind.
    • Celica introduced Alear to Alm, her husband and better half. The two then recommended that Alear should meet Duma and Mila, two sibling Divine Dragons whose rule over their respective nations fell into excess. Alear has resolved to meet the two eventually to learn how to become a better ruler but has not decided when. Alear was later surprised to learn about how Alm and Celica's army was the first to fight and seal Grima
    • While Alear knew that Sigurd died and had that his son had to take up the mission of peace and justice, they had not yet met Seliph until they had come to the pantheon. However, the two lords became friends nearly instantly, and spend much time telling each other about their respective adventures. It also helps that Alear became friends with Emblem Lief, who took the form of Sigurd's nephew and Seliph's cousin. Alear was also surprised to learn that dancers in Jungdral could refresh all adjacent allies without needing the power of an emblem.
    • Alear was surprised to learn that Roy did not necessarily have the strength and high survivability as the Emblem they had known but found the same kind heart and determined soul. Alear pledged their support to Roy and assured him that even if he wasn't as badass as the other lords he was no less valuable. Roy also introduced Alear to some of the people he was close to. Alear was glad to meet yet another Divine Dragon in the form of Fae and is impressed by the young dragon's power, and agreed to help supervise her playtime if required. Alear also had the pleasure of meeting the half-ice dragon Ninian and Roy's Father Eliwood, who like Roy are not the strongest but make up the difference in heart. And before you ask, Alear does not have a guess in who Roy's mother is and refuses to pry any further out of respect for Eliwood and Elibe's women.
    • Alear was also glad to reunite with Hector and Lyndis, whose strength and speed were great assets during the war against the Fell Dragon. Alear was also introduced to Lilina, who despite having a different demeanor from her father was no less of a strong fighter, although magically instead of physically. Lyn also introduced Alear to the Tactician, who despite not being very talkative was somewhat friendly. However, some suspect that the Tactician is jealous of Alm, Byleth, and Alear for having the ability to rewind time to save allies from otherwise lethal blows, while they had to avoid deaths with only careful planning and tactics.
    • Alear is grateful to spend more time with Eirika and Ephiram, and especially talk to Ephiram, who was not very present outside of battle as an emblem. As fell dragons are born as twins but are fated to have at least one die, they are glad that these twins are able to continue to support each other into adulthood unlike their own family. They have heard about the rumors of an incestuous relationship but do not believe them. The twins have also warned Alear about the presence of evil demon lords in the pantheon, who they might want to watch out for in their position as a divine dragon.
    • Alear is glad to "reunite" with Ike and Micaiah, who quickly befriended the Divine Dragon but also warned them of two dangerous foes who they should be very careful around: The Black Knight and Ashera, the goddess of order. Alear heeded their warnings, but while they do their best to keep a lookout for Ashera, they feel like they could stand their ground against the Black Knight if necessary. Alear was also introduced to the Herons, and agreed with many others that their singing voice was beautiful.
    • Alear was glad to meet once again with Lucina, Chrom, and Robin, who were glad to learn that the new Lord was able to defy the odds with the power of their bonds. The three also warned Alear about Grima, the Fell Dragon who had destroyed an alternate future. Alear mused internally that not only would a battle between the two would technically be two Fell dragons against each other, Alear had also explored an alternate ruined version of their world as well. It remains to be seen if Alear being a Fell dragon would allow them to damage Grima more effectively.
    • Corrin and Camilla, along with Azura, the Hosidan Royals, and the rest of the Norhian Royals, came to Alear's temple one day to celebrate their ascension with a large feast along with the other Fire Emblem deities. During the meal Corrin and the royals recounted the story of how Corrin had united both Hoshido and Nohr against Anankos, who was manipulating events in their world as revenge against humanity. Alear was impressed by their tale and asked to be their ally in the future to face even greater enemies in the pantheon, and everyone agreed. Alear is now also vigilant for any signs that the silent Dragon may be concocting another scheme, and vows to stand against whatever it may be. They have also heard of another evil dragon related to words by the name of Aldiun, and now also opposes the World-Eater.
    • Lastly, Alear met with Byleth and found their position as a teacher in Elysium Academy very appropriate. Byleth is grateful that the Emblem Byleth in Elyos improved the main version's image by showing that they do in fact have a personality. Sometimes, the two pour some tea and have a nice chat. Additionally, Byleth has also told Alear about a tournament where fighters from both Fire Emblem and other worlds fight it out, which has struck their interest. It remains to be seen if anything comes of this.
  • No matter whether they appear as male or female at a given time, Alear is always recognizable by their striking red and blue hair, which has led to comparisons with the mascot Pepsiman. Intrigued by these comments, Alear decided to visit the eccentric superhero. They were impressed with Pepsiman's heroic attitude, even though he doesn't actually fight crime all that much.
  • Alear has the dubious privilege of being the only pure-blooded "natural" dragon (as in they were born as one) in the pantheon who cannot transform into a dragon form, as their Dragon Stone was given to their sister Veyle and later broken on their first death. This does not bother them very much, as even without a transformation they can still hold their own in combat, especially as an emblem. This lack of transformation also doesn't bother them very much, as they still have superhuman powers in human form. Despite this, evil dragons such as Tiamat and Acnologia often call them a "fake dragon", which is ironic given Acnologia's true nature. On a related note, they have also heard of The Dovahkiinm, a warrior who kills and absorbs the souls of dragons. For now, they'll stay clear of this draconic human.
  • As they and their siblings were forced to gather the emblem rings for Sombron under the threat of death, Alear does not take kindly to abusive parents who use their children in service of evil plans. This is especially true for villains like Ozai, who used his children as part of his plan to kill the avatar and take over the world, and Darksied, who does something similar but on an even more extreme level. For that reason Alear pities Kalibak, who wants nothing more than to please his father despite being an evil brute. On the other end of the spectrum, Alear respects Good Parents who support their children and help them thrive, especially single parents such as Greg Universe and adoptive parents like Kirito and Asuna ( as Alear was also adopted by Lumera).
  • In their home world Alear was death afraid of corrupted, corpses reanimated by fell dragon magic, despite having to fight them to protect the world. In the pantheon, they are understandably a little afraid to be near the house of Undead and Phantasma, regardless of the alignments of the individual zombies there. On the other hand, the love to be at the House of Beasts and Fauna, and will sometimes adopt some animals to bring back with them to the Somniel.
  • As the emblems of the "main" Elyos were contained within rings, Alear is also interested in other rings in the pantheon which grant power. Alear is impressed by the powers of the Green and Blue Lanterns and their determination in the fight for peace and hope, but has mixed opinions on the Red, Orange, and Indigo lanterns, who for varying reasons remind them of how fell dragon energy took away free will from Emblems. However, Alear respects how all of them set their differences aside to fight Nekron. Alear also heard of another notable ring in the form of "The One Ring" that could grant the wielder great powers. However, after a timely meeting with Gandalf, they are no longer interested in seeking out the ring and have pledged their aid to fight Sauron and Melkor if required. Gandalf is just relieved that the possibility of a divine dragon being corrupted by the ring has been avoided.
  • As not just a dragon but a divine ruler with the responsibility to maintain peace in Elyos, Alear is always looking to meet divine leaders in hope of learning how to be a better ruler. After fitting themself into a very busy schedule, Alear was finally able to meet with Sigmar Unberogen, the God-King of the Warhammer World and swap stories. Alear was amazed by how Signmar was able to restore his entire world after it was destroyed by the forces of Chaos, and Sigmar was also impressed with how Alear betrayed their evil father and came back from the dead multiple times to finish Sombron off for good while being compelled by Love and Friendship. The two also bonded over not being incredibly enthusiastic about being worshipped as deities, but have taken up the position regardless for the sake of doing good. The emperor invited the young dragon to the Grand United Alliance of Good, and Alear gladly accepted.
  • While performing errands on GUAG business, Alear bumped into the superhero Orion, who was also attending to business in the House of Heroism. They started talking to each other, and in time became good friends. When Alear told Orion about how they were in fact born as a red-colored fell dragon and turned against their evil father to be adopted as Lumera's child, Orion instantly recognized the similarity to his own story. Sometimes the two can be seen hanging out around the pantheon.
  • Before they woke up to begin their second and last campaign against the Fell Dragon, Alear received a prophetic but ultimately inaccurate dream of them striking down Sombron. One day in the Pantheon, Alear became interested in why they and other Fire Emblem protagonists had dreams of a similar kind and went to the Hall of Dreams and Nightmares in search of answers. There, they met the Dreamweaver Ysera, who did not have an answer to their question but nonetheless took an interest in the young dragon and introduced them to her other (good)siblings. Alear finds Alexstrasza's desire to protect her children and her story of tragically losing her lovers is remarkably similar to their own mother Lumera, who lost her loved ones during the war against the Fell Dragons. After going from being an agent of Sombron to becoming a real hero and seeing their sister Veyle do the same, Alear is also convinced that Nozdormu can overcome his dark fate, but the Timeless One is not so optimistic, though he does find Alear's use of the Draconic Time Crystal to rewind time as a bit interesting. The three regard Alear as a younger sibling of sorts, imparting their wisdom on how to be good rulers and properly uphold the cosmic balance. Naturally, Alear is also the enemy of the evil Deathwing.
  • As an Amnesiac Hero, Alear finds kinship with Kaban, Dust, and Hal and definitely sympathizes with how Dusts tried to atone for the acts of their Cassius soul component. Alear sometimes visits Japari Park to visit the friends there and is jokingly considered a dragon friend. The divine dragon also finds Hal's tale of finding the will to take control of her own life to be quite similar to the path their sister Veyle took.
  • Due to their respective red-blue color schemes and association with crossovers, Alear is often compared to Spiderman and by extension the other Spidermen. Alear gets along with them well enough but is unsure about whether they should ask Peter Parker about his relationship with Lucina. Alear is also acquainted with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and sometimes eats pizza with them.

any non-evil Jews in the Pantheon

  • On good terms with: Abel

  • On bad terms with: Altria Pendragon Alter, Galahad(maybe?)

  • Conflicted about: YHVH, SCP-073
  • Respects: Heroic Underdogs

  • Contraversial for: The House of Family and Relatives, The House of Love and Affection

  • Ambiguous relationship with: SCP-001 (Dr.Clef's Proposal)

  • Enemies: Goetia, Cain, SCP-076-02, Dis, Satan(Paradise Lost), Ramses(Prince of Egypt)

  • After Saul, the first king of Israel, disobeyed God's order to kill all the Amalekites by sparing their king and some livestock, God ordered the prophet Samuel to ordain the shepherd David as Saul's successor. In a war against the Philistines, David would kill the giant Goliath with one shot from his sling, gaining him immense fame. Afraid of the threat to his rule, Saul branded David a fugitive and forced him to flee. After Saul and his successor both died in battles, David would return and be crowned as the third king of Israel. During his reign he was both beloved and successful, earning many victories in battle.
    • However, it was also during his time as king that he would commit his greatest sins. Coveting Bathsheba, the wife of his elite soldier Uriah, he impregnated her. In order to cover it up, he first tried getting Uriah to return home, and when that didn't work got Uriah killed in battle and married Bathsheba. But this would not go unjudged by god: Bathsheba and David's firstborn died young, and his son Absalom would then rise up in rebellion against him and die as a result of an accident. When he was old, he gave the kingship to Solomon, his and Bathsheba's second child.

  • In an effort to strengthen the forces of Good in the Pantheon, the Chaldea Security Organization has been trying to ascend its servants to divine positions. While thinking over who to select, Dr.Roman suddenly realized an incredibly obvious candidate. And so Chaldea summoned his father, King David to become the God of Slings as recognition of his famous feat.
  • Naturally, the first thing David did after ascending was visit his son, Solomon. While the two didn't have much time to connect in life as David was busy running the kingdom, he is proud of his son for his many achievements such as building a temple for the Ark of the Covenant, pioneering magic, and ruling as a just king, although he acknowledges that Solomon's weakness for beautiful women probably came from him. Solomon was just as glad to meet with his father, as he had to hide his identity during his time as Dr. Romani Archaman. David strongly suspected that Dr.Roman was his son, but didn't want to say anything because he trusted his plan to defeat Goetia, which ended in him being erased from the throne
    • While David considers himself a regular man who was chosen by god to be a king out of the blue, David saw that Solomon was fit to be a king from the moment he was born. Unfortunately, what he did not forsee was the role of being a "natural born king" and having to carry the responsibilities of his positions as well as his god-giving wisdom being incredibly restrictive and burdensome for Solomon. That is why David now takes out time to hang out with his son whenever he can. Additionally, David is trying to find a way to ascend the Queen of Sheba, a mysterious biblical character that may have married Solomon and been his greatest love in life.
    • Naturally, as a servant of Chaldea and Solomon's son David is a staunch enemy of Demon King Goetia. Geotia would normally ignore him for being a servant with much less power than his son, but David did play a major role in defeating Goetia by protecting the Master of Chaldea, which makes the Beast slightly wary. David is also enemies with more traditional evil Abrahamic demons such as Dis and the Satan who lost Paradise. While it's not clear how exactly he would really do anything against them in a fight given their incredible power, it is unwise to underestimate David's abilities. After all, he's great at fighting as the underdog.

  • Seeking to atone for his sins, David asked Solomon to put in a good word for him at the GUAG Ministry of Atonement, but Solomon told him that the ministry is for actual villains who turned good, not people who just made bad mistakes. Regardless, he still goes there and talks to the deities about the struggles of being good.

  • During his time in Chaldea and the Pantheon, David has become acquainted with a variety of heroes, mythological and historical alike. While he doesn't have the most overpowered abilities a servant can have, he has remained a reliable pick for any team thanks to being able to both fight and support his teammates. In the Pantheon, he checks up on them regularly to see how they're doing.
    • Robin Hood's actions with his Merry Men remind David of when he led his Mighty Men to defend villages against bandits and Philistine forces during his time as a fugitive. David will sometimes help Robin Hood as a sling specialist when bows won't cut it.
    • Altria Alter still isn't over the time David mistook her for Abishag and hit on her while she was doing her work as a Santa. David claims the whole thing was an accident, but she doesn't buy it. Regardless, the two will still work as teammates under Chaldea.
    • In the Middle Ages, David was seen as one of the Nine Worthies, personifications of chivalry. This made him interested in whether any medieval knights took after him in some way, to which he found Galahad, the pure-hearted knight, was using his sword. One day, David decided to check on Galahad to see how the knight was treating his sword and why he had taken his power away from Mash after the Incineration of Humanity was resolved. Galahad simply shut the door to his temple on him.

  • As both a biblical figure and an atoner, David is sometimes visited by the different versions of God in the Pantheon. he admires The Love The Moves The Stars for being a force for goodness and love, and the Love in turn recognizes that David is trying his best and gives him slack. The same can be said for the God who's friends with Bob, who thinks that David has already paid enough for the whole Uriah thing. However, David has mixed feelings about YHVH; while he sees in the deity the God that ordered the annihilation of the Amalekites, he does not seem to be the type of God who would appoint a replacement for Saul, or grant Solomon his wisdom. When Solomon told him that YHVH was definitely not the god that they knew, David agreed.

  • As it is prophesized that the Messiah would be born in David's bloodline, a jew named Brian Cohen once came to his temple to ask for a genetic sample. He said that he had been mistakenly been labeled the Messiah by people who would not be dissuaded, and hopes that a genetic test would show that the two were not related, proving once and for all that he was not the Messiah. However, because David had so many children and lived long before Brian, his genes were already spread widely in the Jewish population, leading to a partial match. Regardless, David hopes that Brian can one day get the crowds off his back. Besides Solomon and God, David has also learned of other Biblical figures in the Pantheon, many of which are his ancestors:
    • David reverses Moses for helping release the Jewish people from slavery, although he wonders is the magic that Moses uses is maybe a little too dangerous. He thinks that Ramses is despicable, but does not extend that animosity to the Egyptian Gods.
    • David is friendly with Abel, who he sees as a great example of a virtuous man. On the other hand, SCP-076-2 freaks him out due to his sociopathy and hatred for humanity. To that end, David is willing to give the SCP a taste of rock from his sling if necessary.
    • Likewise, David is not a fan of Cain, who reminds him of how his son Absalom killed his other son Amnon(for raping their sister Tamar, but still tragic). David doesn't dislike SCP-073, but is still a little weirded out by his Attack Reflector ability.
    • David feels honored to meet Noah, who preserved animal and human life during the Great Flood. Double points for being The Grand Rider

  • Given his story of taking down Goliath, David is supportive of deities that take on much greater enemies, especially the heroic ones. One specific figure that has caught his interest is Wander, who climbed and slew 16 Collosi on the quest to revive his lover. While he doesn't think that releasing Dorman was a good idea, he does understand why Wander did it and is willing to lend if the young traveler ever needs it. Some deities have speculated that instead of having to climb them, David could just one-shot the weak points of the Collosi with his sling.

  • Slings are a very simple weapon with a range that can surpass longbows, but they require a lot of training to be able to use correctly. It is for this reason that David often receives requests from deities for him to teach them how to use slings. Unsurprisingly, the success rate is pretty slim, but those who do manage to get the hang of the ancient weapon often leave with a useful new ability.
  • Many times, many people have confused slings and slingshots when talking to him, which has slightly annoyed David, as in his history slings far predated slingshots. Whenever someone mixes them up, he now says, "Slings are Trebuchets and Slingshots and Catapults". This has only added to the confusion.
  • Even worse, deities from the House of Health and Diseases have assumed that he is proficient in Medical slings, even though he resides in the house of Weapons. In this case, David simply doesn't the heart to correct them and has begun studying medical slings.
  • Of course, his sling is not like any other sling: when used in his servant form as his Noble Phantasm, it becomes more akin to a Wave-Motion Gun that can ignore the enemy's evasive maneuvers and strike their weak point, killing them or knocking them out. It also has a secondary ability to grant an ally the gift of protected flight, although this is rarely used. Besides his sling, David also has other weapons:
    • His harp/lyre, which he used to soothe King Saul and play the secret chord. It can heal through Magic Music. However, its true power is the ability to exorcise evil spirits, which makes the evil members of the Hous of Ghosts wary.
    • His shield. The symbol on the front is actually the origin of the famous Star of David. He is very proud that the symbol is now on the flag of the modern state of Israel, but sad that it has been used by antisemites throughout history to identify and single out Jews.
    • His sword, The Sword of Strange Hangings, which he took from Goliath. Currently in the possession of Galahad, but David doesn't really mind. According to legend, it can only be wielded by proper knights, which begs the question of how David stole it from the defeated Goliath and cut off his head with it.
    • He also took care of the Ark of the Covenant and famously danced in front of the public as a way to thank God for the blessing, although it was Solomon who would build the temple that houses it. As a servant, it is one of his noble phantasms, which would be cool if it wasn't so dangerous and impractical. For that reason, he's fine with leaving it in the treasury where it can't be used for evil.
    • As a servant he has a noble phantasm that allows him to send a sacrifice to God in order to rain fire on his enemies. However, he prefers not to use it as it would be an abuse of divine power. Some speculate that these flames actually come from an angel's firey powers, such as SCP-001 (Dr.Clef's proposal).

  • The House of Family of Relatives has split opinions of David. While they view Absalom's death as tragic, they don't think it was warranted for David to let the Gibeonites kill all of Saul's descendants due to Saul's mistreatment of the city. Likewise, David is controversial at the House of Love and Affection for his relationship with Bathsheba. This is because it's ambiguous if Bathsheba consented to having sex with David. If she did, then it would make David a murderous home-wrecker; if not, he was also a rapist. No one has had the opportunity to ask David for his side of the story on this, so the debate remains unresolved. Either way, outside observers comment that see why David's god punished him so severely.

  • As a king of Israel who helped his people fight against foreign invaders, he despises any who try to destroy the Jewish people, especially the Nazis. He hates the Red Skull the most, as Johann Schmidt is possibly the most loyal to Nazism out of all of them. Of course, he hates all Nazis in the Pantheon and is willing to go to war against them at any time to stop their genocidal plans.

  • Special Relationship: Alexander the Great (Aristotle)

  • Once Upon a Time in Ancient Greece, a man from Athens approached the Oracle of Delphi. The man asked the oracle if there was anyone wiser than his friend, and the Oracle replied that it was true. When the man, Chaerephon, then told this to his friend, the friend was skeptical and proceeded to try to find people who might be wiser than him: politicians, craftsmen, and poets. But no matter who he talked to, he always found them lacking and eventually conceded that even though he knew nothing, unlike these experts he knew that he knew nothing. The name of this friend was Socrates and his method of interrogating one's beliefs and asking questions no matter the subject laid the foundation for Western Philosophy. During his rounds of questioning people in the city, he acquired a group of people who followed him and eventually became his students. Eventually, Socrates asked the wrong people the wrong questions and was tried and convicted by a jury for charges of corrupting the youth and blasphemy against the gods. Instead of running away or resisting, he accepted his death sentence and drank a cup of poisonous hemlock.
    • His student Plato would continue his legacy, moving from questioning others to trying to find the answers. Plato believed that the true nature of things lay in forms: immaterial, timeless essences of things, with the Form of The Good at the very top; the physical world is merely composed of imperfect versions of these forms. He believed that trying to better match these forms could lead to better lives and happier societies, and so sought to find them with the power of reason. Part of this journey was the Dialogues, where Plato wrote out his ideas in the form of how Socrates debated people in years past. He also founded The Platonic Academy, a place for personal and intellectual development. It was once said that "All Philosophy is but a footnote to Plato".
    • One of Plato's students, Aristotle, agreed with his teacher on certain things like the importance of virtue but disagreed about the Theory of Forms: Aristotle believed that the physical form of a thing was intrinsic to its nature, and so sought to study the physical world of empiricism instead of Plato's idealistic realm of forms. Later, King Philip II of Macedonia asked Aristotle to tutor his son, who would become known as Alexander the Great. Aristotle encouraged Alexander's desire for conquest, but they broke apart due to their disagreements over Alenxander's belief in "ruling by friendship", believing he should put a tighter Yoke on the Persians. After Alexander died and his empire fell apart, Aristotle returned to Athens, established his own school of philosophy in the Lyceum, and penned his most well-known works. The books (or to be more accurate, lecture notes), established everything the Western world believed from medicine to ethics to logic to almost everything in between.

  • It was a confusing time in the Pantheon: trickers and trolls from the House of Mentalism had decided to target the House of Knowledge, switching books and creating misleading theories. In the chaos, a librarian gave a wish to the heavens: "please, send help against deceivers!" In a moment, three figures walked out of the dust. Those in the know knew they were saved, for the three great philosophers had come to the Pantheon.
    • Before his fateful death, Socrates wondered what the afterlife was like: would he be able to meet with the heroes of old, or would there be nothing, and thus freedom from earthly worries? it turns out the latter was true, and Socrates is committed to becoming a "social Gadfly" once again to promote virtue in the Pantheon. This is only half of the truth. In reality, Socrates was sent to the Intelligible Realm, the afterlife of philosophers. After convincing the past Arbiter of the truth of morality, he became the new Arbiter, the administrator of the realm. However, he later realized that his answer was actually wrong, and waited for someone who would find the true answer. After Socrates Jones put forward an argument that the truth of morality may exist but be unreachable, Socrates was convinced by other Underworld leaders such as Ereshkigal to come to the pantheon in order to help bolster stability. He brought Plato and Aristotle to help him manage his new position.
    • Plato is ecstatic to be in the Pantheon, as a world of Tropes may be closer to the world of forms he seeks. He's currently trying to figure out why the Pantheon came to be and what its true nature is, but with reason instead of scientific testing.
    • Aristotle is no stranger to tropes, as his book Literature/Poetics is the earliest surviving work of dramatic theory and the first philosophical writing on literary theory. This technically makes him the earliest known troper, which some suspect gives him authority rivaling that of Gygax and Arneson. However, if he does have this power, he has yet to use it openly.

  • Socrates is well known not for providing answers, but for asking deep questions. However, Socrates in Plato's later dialogues does have concrete opinions and positions on topics, as Plato was expressing his opinions through Socrates. The question on whether these dialogues reflected the "real" Socrates, and how other accounts of him seem to be contradictory is known as the Socratic Problem, and it is one that scholars in the Pantheon still discuss. It is currently unknown if Plato's writings influenced how Socrates appears in the Pantheon, but observers have noticed that the different accounts given by his students seem to all be at least partially true, and Socrates has yet to say any concrete philosophical opinions in his Pantheonic dialogues.

  • As leaders of the House of Philosophy, the three have taken it upon themselves to help the field of philosophy flourish throughout the pantheon, whether it be individual thinks such as Machiavelli or whole races which as the Chmmr of the Alliance of Free Stars.
    • Speaking of aliens, the non-human races in the Pantheon present a unique opportunity to engage with an even wider field of views than the philosophers ever thought possible. To that end, they often engage with conversation partners who are just as enthusiastic about philosophy as they are, such as the Silver Surfer, who is part of a Proud Scholar Race.
    • As a Spartan, Kratos does not fully trust the Athenian philosophers, believing that wisdom comes from one's actions instead of their words. On the other hand, Atreus is fascinated by their teachings, so his father begrudgingly lets him listen in on their lectures. The trio respects Kratos's redemption and love for his son, but also recognizes that he still has a long road to walk in order to become the great god and king he is destined to be.

  • Despite being generally lawful or neutral, the three philosophers are ardent allies of the Order of Assassins, an organization with the explicit goal of fighting for freedom above all else. The answer why is a bit complicated: Kassanda, an ancient greek predecessor of the Assassin Order and daughter of Socrates's contemporary Pythagoras personally knew Socrates and a young Plato. Socrates and Plato likewise treat Kassandra like family, and are always willing to help her and her successors. It helps that Assassins such as Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad are avid philosophers themselves and their company makes for great conversation.

  • While the first Western philosopher is usually identified as Thales, these 3 are considered the forefathers of Western philosophy, laying the groundwork for the millennia of thought to follow. However, time moves on, and the Pantheon is nearly unrecognizable to the world in which they once lived, it is time for them to decide what parts of their philosophies hold up in the modern day and which ones do not.

    • Many of the things that these philosophers have said are suspect, if not offensive today. These things include accepting the existence of slavery as a natural fact and justifying it(mainly Aristotle), believing that men were superior to women(again, Aristotle), holding some beings as more significant than others in the Great Chain of Being (Aristotle and Plato), and holding a Greek-centric worldview(pretty common in the ancient world). While the three men are still respected as great thinkers, that respect nowadays comes with a squint and a raised eyebrow.

      • On the other hand, it would be incomplete to say that they were completely misogynistic even during their mortal lives. Socrates dearly loved his first wife Xanthippe (although some sources say that he actually married Myrto or cheated on one them with Alcibiades) because of her feisty attitude; Plato advocated for women's education; and even though Aristotle didn't like how Sparta treated men and women with the same rules for a while (as he thought men were naturally active and women passive), he still argued that the happiness of women should be taken in equal regard.
    • However, one of these views that may have been twisted throughout the ages was their consistent criticism of "Democracy". However, this is an issue of language drift: to them, the term "Democracy" did not refer to voting or representative democracy but a general rule by the people. While the three philosophers had their differences on what the ideal society should be, they all agreed that uncritically giving power to the majority of people is a degenerate (bad) form of government; democracy is characterized not by how the government works, but by the people ignoring the rule of law in favor of their own desires and are likely to bring tyrants into power. While they generally favor an aristocracy (rule by the most virtuous), they are not opposed by a properly organized and benevolent system based on voting and representation (what Aristotle calls a Polity). It is because they oppose this degenerate form that they are enemies of Lucifer, who wants the entire world to be ruled by personal whims and desires. When the demon lord heard that the three philosophers opposed him, he simply smirked and said, "interesting".
    • On the other hand, they're not exactly a big fan of tyrants and dictators. Socrates personally disobeyed the Thirty Tyrants of Athens, although not as much as others would have, while Plato absolutely abhorred them when he was young. Plato later went on to try to depose the despot Dionysius I of Syracuse, but did not succeed. Aristotle say tyranny as the perverted form of Royalty/monarchy, and personally believed that the Polity was the superior form of government over even Aristocracy or Monarchy. It is for this reason that the three also consider YHVH an enemy, as the mad god not only imposes oppressive rule on the people but is known to bend to rules for his benefit. For this reason, the three refused to have any sort of association with the GUAL until it was reformed into its more "rational" form.
    • Despite being well-known philosophers, Socrates and Plato are not very well-versed in formal logic. This is because the concept wasn't really invented yet (Aristotle invented Term Logic), but also because they despised the Sophists, who they saw as prioritizing winning arguments over actual truth. After Socrates Jones beat Socrates, the three saw that they needed to learn modern logic.
    • While the philosophers are currently attending school, they intend to eventually teach philosophy at Elysium Academy as soon as they get the proper credentials, as a continuation of their teaching work during their mortal lives. For that reason, they have become well-acquainted with current teachers such as Byleth Eisner, John Keating, and Eikichi Onizuka.
    • One of the oft-debated arguments over Socrates was whether he was purely heterosexual or had a younger male lover in either Alcibiades or Plato, which would be called Pedastry (a form of Child Sex Abuse) nowadays. There is also the matter that Plato wrote Socrates as being approving of Pedastry, while Xenophon wrote him as against it. As far as researchers understand, the Socrates in the Pantheon was completely loyal to his wives, but Plato may have written his attraction to his teacher into his Dialogues. For understandable reasons, no one is eager to dig any further, and the LGBT deities in the Pantheon do not consider Socrates or Plato to be one of their own. Whatever the case, it can at least be assured that none of the three are currently doing anything with young boys.

  • Exclusive to Socrates
    • Despite being qualified to run for office in ancient Athens, he never did so, instead preferring to help his city by "improving" its inhabitants directly, talking and debating with them one at a time in the city's main square. Is is these dialogues that made him so revered, and as a citizen of the pantheon he intends to continue his work. After all, many people in the Pantheon believe that they have figured out life's great truths, and Socrates wants to know if they are correct:
      • Char Azamble advocates for his father's philosophy of Contolism, which believes that humanity sEarth leave earth and move towardtoin order to evolve into psychic beings. Socrates asked why evolving psychic communication would be inherently beneficial, or why humans in space would have the right or authority to decide what the humans on earth on do if they declare themselves independent. Char did not have answer to these questions. Plato wonders if Contolism is really a philosophy at all, as it says nothing about ethics, the state, reality, or anything that would instead be called science in the modern world.
      • The Demon Lord Lucifer, a great leader of the Pantheon's Chaos Faction, believes in a fully individualistic world where everyone was only beholden to their own desires. Instead of giving a direct counter-argument, Socrates instead posited a scenario where a person has access to an endless supply of drugs. They can do anything they want in the world and cannot be stopped, although they are obviously compelled to always take more drugs by their addiction. The addict is technically free as people would be in an ideal world of chaos, yet this person is a slave to their desires. When Socrates asked Lucifer if such a person is free, Lucifer said that they would be. As they were both in the House of Crime, Socrates led Lucifer to an alleyway where a disheveled addict, obviously undergoing withdrawal symptoms, fought with another addict over a blanket. Lucifer did not say anymore.

    • Socrates's day job is not that of a philosopher, but instead a stonecutter as he refuses to make any money off of teaching philosophy. One day, while doing his work in the House of Craft he was approached by the stoic pony Maud Pie, who started a long conversation about rocks. The two have entered into a deal: Socrates helps her find and shape cool rocks, and she sometimes listens to him debate philosophy.
    • Socrates was tried, convicted, and executed for two crimes: corrupting the youth and Asebeia(impiety, mockery of the divine), as his accusers believed that he was spreading atheism among his students. This is seen best in his debate with Euthyphro. However, is it unknown whether he is actually an atheist or merely an inquisitive believer, or perhaps believes the gods exist but does not worship them in the traditional sense. Athena, the patron deity of Athens and the goddess of wisdom, has said that the trio's temple sends sacrifices to her, but is is unknown if Socrates contributes to them. Given that no one really cares to dive into his private life, the mystery is fated to remain so for a long time.
    • When he is not teaching philosophy or cutting stone, Socrates serves the Arbiter, the ruler of the intelligible realm, the afterlife of Philosophers. Because philosophers and rational beings, the work is relatively easy, but his inexperience with management sometimes requires him to call for more experienced underworld managers such as Ereshkigal. After the two became friends, the goddess has connected him to the Chaldea Security Organization, but it is unknown if and when he will be summoned as a servant.

  • Exclusive to Plato
    • As an extension of his virtue theory and the theory of Forms, Plato naturally tried to figure out what the "ideal society" should be. His answer was quite unconventional: a society divided into three classes: workers/farmers who made goods, warriors who kept the public order and protected the city from outside threats, and philosophers kings drawn from the best of the warrior class that ruled with wisdom. Each class had their own privileges and responsibilities: only the warriors and philosopher kings were provided an education, but only commoners were raised with their birth families and could own property. Before you ask, he had no knowledge of the Hindu caste system. Plato thought that giving people specific jobs would help keep balance, but more modern deities questions how Plato didn't see how this could obviously lead to a dystopia. Furthermore, Plato endorsed the elites of scoeity telling everyone else the "Noble Lie" to maintain social harmony that everyone is born with different kinds of souls that are fit for different positions. Naturally, this is opposed by those who oppose stratified societies and those who care about the freedom of information.
    • One of the lesser-known parts of Plato's was his entanglement with the rulers of the City of Syracuse. Long story short, he tried multiple times to influence the city's heirs and kings to be wise philosopher kings, but they rejected him and his teachings to become tyrants, the last one even putting him into slavery. He was bought out by a friend, but the expense has still shaped an otherwise elitist man to be against slavery in every form and very sympathetic to slaves.
    • "Plato" is not his birth name; it is a nickname that refers to his wide shoulders, and his real name is Aristocles. Why does everyone call him Plato? It was given to him by his wrestling coach, Ariston of Argos, because of his broad chest and shoulders; the Greek word platýs means "broad". Plato was quite good at wrestling, perhaps even participating in the Isthmian Games. This is why he has been categorized as the class grappler in Holy Grail Wars. In the pantheon, Plato has considered joining the Pantheon's professional wrestling circuit, but only after he becomes accustomed first.
    • One of Plato's less well-known characteristics was his love of jewelry: when he was young he was known for wearing rings and earrings and was even called decadent for it by Sextus Empiricus. Perhaps out of an after-life crisis, he's started a habit of visiting the Hall of Gems and Jewlery, where he sometimes buys items from Olivia's store.
      • Speaking of rings, one of Plato's most famous dialogues was one in The Republic where Socrates debated with Plato's older brother Glaucon on the nature of justice. Glaucon famously came up with a story in which the farmer Gyges discovered a ring that allowed him to turn invincible, thereby holding him unaccountable to the consequences of his actions. He used this power to seduce the queen of his city, kill the king, and then become the new thing. Plato was surprised to learn that his brother's tale was surprisingly accurate and that a ring that turns individuals invisible while also corrupting them with power was a real object, crafted by the called Maiar Sauron. After learning about this, Plato instantly became an enemy of the Dark Lord for creating and using such an evil object.
    • In the Dialogues Timaeus and Critias, Plato went outside of his comfort zone a bit and created two pseudohistorical characters named, well, Timaeus and Critias, as well as creating the fictional island of Atlantis, which was once in favor with Posideon and tried to invade Athens but sank due to hubris of its inhabitants. Plato was surprised to learn that in many worlds Atlantis is not a metaphor for philosophical lessons but a real place, sometimes abandoned but just as often inhabited by Mer-people. Moreover, Plato learned of Dartz, a king of Atlantis, and that in the Yu Gi Oh! world Timaeus and Critias were legendary knights. Plato is interested in meeting these Atlanteans someday but hasn't found time in his schedule yet.
    • During his lifetime, Plato abhorred the written word, as he believed that reading books was an inferior method of gaining knowledge compared to talking with actual experts. That is why when he had to write something of his own, he wrote dialogues that better fit his ideal form of learning. However, at this point, he acknowledges that writing has won over oration many times and that it was beneficial as a whole for human society to preserve knowledge through text. The greatest example of this was the bard William Shakespeare, whose written plays have become famous throughout space and time. However, he is intrigued by technologies such as video and Brain Uploading which could teach in a more preferable, "organic" way.

  • Exclusive to Aristotle
    • After studying at the Platonic Academy in his youth, Aristotle became the teacher of Alexander the Great and accompanied him on his conquests. However, the two experienced a schism over Alexander's treatment of his Persian territories, as Aristotle believed that his method of "conquering through friendship" was no way to build a lasting state and that he should prioritize Greeks over Persians. After Alexander died, his empire fell apart very quickly, validating Aristotle's perspective. However, in the more idealistic Pantheon Alexander's attitude seems to be to his benefit, and Aristotle felt that he may have been a little too harsh and close-minded back then. When Aristotle finally ascended to the Pantheon, he visited his old pupil. Luckily, the two have made amends, and if the philosopher was not in the Ionian Hertanoi before, he is now.
      • As the first ascended deity in the Pantheon to know Aristotle when he was alive, Aristotle can't help but notice that something is....a little off with Alexander compared to how he remembered him. He has concluded that the historical legend of "Alexander the Great" has influenced his form in the Pantheon and how he appears as a heroic spirit. However, it's hard to know for certain.
    • Besides what people normally consider to be philosophy, Aristotle also studied "Natural Philosophy", laying the foundations of what would later become modern science in the fields of physics, psychology, biology, geology, and chemstry. However, Science Marches On and he has been proven wrong about an astounding number of subjects, not famously the nature of gravity and the heavenly Sphere model. This is partly because he did not do scientific experiments, instead gathering data from observations and then seeking out patterns. Part of the reason he has enrolled back into Elysium Academy is to catch up on millennia of scientific developments.
      • However, he found that in the world of The Avatar, the world really was split into four elements as Empedocles suggested, but not his fifth element of Aether. Additionally, the world's 10,000 year cycles fit closely with Empedocles's predictions about the cosmic struggle between the forces of "Love" (attraction between elements) and "strife"(attraction of like to like) as seen by Raava and Vaatu. To that end, he has offered to help aid the heroes of the Avatar world if the cosmic balance is ever at risk.
      • Besides the psychical world, Aristotle also studied the human mind and the meaning of dreams. This has caught the attention of Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud, who also studied human behavior in symbolic and qualitative terms. Aristotle is not sure about biological urges or the "collective unconscious" playing such a large role in the human mind, but finds their theories interesting regardless.
      • One of Aristotle's more influential theories is the Great Chain of Being, a cosmological ranking of all life and objects in the universe, which also influenced later Christian thought. Aristotle's version characterized living things based on their capabilities, with hot and wet characteristics (ex. warm-blooded) being above cold and dry characteristics (ex. cold rock). Humans, which had the ability to reason, were notably at the top of this classification. However, the existence of talking animals and non-human humanoids has made Aristotle reconsider this entire model, as they clearly possess Rational Souls. Moreover, successors to his model influenced racist scientific theories that justified colonialism, which has led to a lot of blowback in modern times. Adam Taurus despises Aristotle for making this model, as he believes that it puts the beast-like Faunus below humans. Aristotle has had to apply for a restraining order against the Faunus supremacist.
    • As noted earlier, Aristotle wrote the earliest recorded literary analysis, in which he wrote about plays. Nowadays, he is working on expanding his analysis to account for the new forms of media that have developed over the ages, starting with the House of Theater. His reviews of plays are popular online and in newspapers, but his dry writing style turns some readers away.
    • Instead of matching a specific Form of behavior like Plato believed, Aristotle's virtue theory is based on trying to find the "golden mean" between two extreme vices: for example, the virtue of courage is between a vice of deficiency(cowardliness) and a vice of excess(foolhardiness). This virtue theory would later be incorporated into later moral systems, especially in Christian and Islamic Theology. This has led to Aristotle having a surprisingly religious audience, such as Saint Jeanne d'Arc. She may not be able to read books very well, but listening to Aristotle's lectures is informative and surprisingly enjoyable.
