Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
  9. Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
  10. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

NOTE: Edited with OP's permission.

~ACW, you gotta give me a page for this request.

~Khugol, this page is for specific edit requests, not general requests. If you'd like to add something to her page, please provide the actual list in the proper formatting.

~MysteriousStranger, for this one, please provide links to the actual page you are requesting an edit on. Secondly, that seems like a problem with the write-up, which you should probably bring up in the CM thread first.

[up]Mixed opinion. Only some things in the Flame Bait index are locked.

Done to here otherwise.

On The Fundamentalist, please modify the Shin Megami Tensei II entry to correct "YVH" to "YHVH".

Also, please make Main.Patronymic a disambiguation page as follows:

A link to something about "Patronymic" sent you to this page. The context of the link should help you figure out which page you want.
  • I Am X, Son of Y, a trope about using the name of one or both of one's parents to identify oneself, perhaps even as an integral part of their personal name (i.e. a "patronymic").
  • Patronymic, a Useful Notes page about patronymics.

Please change any link to point to the correct page.

On the YMMV page for Reddit, please cut the following entries:

All these entries are not YMMV tropes, and are focused on troping the users than the site itself.

What I'm saying is that Internet Backdraft should be locked to prevent addition of examples (despite tropers' obedience to the warning on that page).

    Examples
  • Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld: Dark Opal is the Big Bad of the first series. Overthrowing the House of Amethyst, massacring their men and killing the ruling family, Dark Opal seeks to extend his rule over all he can. Obsessed with having an heir, he forces women to bear his children, but when the results are malformed creatures, he exiles them to the Abyss to languish forever. When his children return to stop his evil, Dark Opal savagely murders them all himself. Caring nothing for his allies, he forces his right-hand man Sardonyx to sign a deal with creatures known as Emissaries of Varn with the knowledge Sardonyx will be taken to eternal torment should the contract fall through as Dark Opal can't be bothered to save him. Gleefully attempting to massacre his enemies, Dark Opal also tortures the kind old Lord Topaz to death before raising him as a twisted monster to trick Prince Topaz into marrying a woman of Dark Opal's choice for political gain. Obsessed with his own power and thinking nothing of destroying whatever is in his way, Dark Opal remains Amethyst's most monstrous foe.
  • Doom Patrol: Captain Zahl, who later became a foe of the Teen Titans, was a Nazi U-Boat commander turned criminal mercenary who never gave up on imposing the Third Reich's vision on the world. After a confrontation with Niles "The Chief" Caulder left him down an arm and confined to a back and neck brace, Zahl took on a behind-the-scenes role, transforming Otto Von Furth into the always-burning Plasmus, and manipulating the unstable Madame Rouge into betraying the Doom Patrol and Brotherhood of Evil both, resulting in the demise of both teams. Hunted across the world by surviving Doom Patrol members and associates Gar Logan, Robotman, and Mento, Zahl battled the New Teen Titans when he and his army joined Madame Rouge's attempted conquest of Zandia. Under Zahl's direction his men massacred thousands of Zandia's expat inhabitants, and captured the Titans, subjecting them to the horrors of his Devolving Pit.
  • Justice League of America: The bloodthirsty Commander Benn Blanx, from issues 71 and 144, is the Evil Counterpart and Arch-Enemy of J'onn J'onnz. Blanx restarts a war between two races of Martians and exiles J'onn, whom he later tracks to Earth to kill, murdering countless humans in the process. Becoming the planet's dictator, Blanx uses the powerful Blue Flame to set all of Mars ablaze, leaving the civilization in ruins and leading to J'onn returning to find his people on the verge of extinction. When J'onn demands an explanation for Blanx's cruelty, Blanx reveals a mining corporation offered to purchase the planet from Blanx, but he had to be "the last living Martian".
  • Legion of Super-Heroes: Silver Age foe The Controller wasn't one to let morality get in the way of his plans for universal conquest. Abandoning his highly advanced race, The Controller decided to use his superweapon, the Sun-Eater, to obliterate every inhabited system in the Milky Way, starting with Earth's sun, Sol. When Ferro Lad's Heroic Sacrifice destroyed the Sun-Eater, The Controller attempted to brainwash the Legion into becoming his new army, then sought to murder them all when that plan failed. Convinced of his own innate superiority, and willing to wipe out an inhabited galaxy just to send the a message, The Controller would let nothing stand in his path of becoming the universe's Dimension Lord.
  • Teen Titans: Trigon the Terrible, the Archnemesis Dad of Raven, is an interdimensional demonic overlord who reigns over an empire where countless souls are kept in horrible bondage. Slaughtering the very cult responsible for his birth, including his mother, Trigon would go on to brutally conquer his entire dimension. Trigon has sired many children across the centuries, destroying any who dare to oppose him. Seeking to expand his dominion to Earth, Trigon took the form of a handsome man and impregnated a woman named Arella, revealing his true form and taunting her afterwards. After his daughter Raven's birth, Trigon would make numerous attempts to subjugate her to his will. When she refused to join him, Trigon destroyed her home world, Azarath, before corrupting Raven's soul and launching a campaign of destruction on Earth, forcing Raven to do battle with her own friends. During his invasion of Earth, Trigon reduced the island of New York to a graveyard, fusing the bodies of four million inhabitants together as part of an ever-growing spire of writhing, tormented souls. Trigon ultimately intended to merge Earth with his own dimension, happily condemning billions of lives to annihilation. Willing to exterminate entire worlds to make an example, and with trillions of deaths to his name, Trigon is the most terrifying and wicked foe the Teen Titans have ever faced.

Crisis on Infinite Earths

  • The Anti-Monitor is a being of the Anti-Matter universe. Seeking to dominate existence, the Anti-Monitor strengthens his universe by wiping out all others, annihilating thousands of universes and all their inhabitants from existence. With only 5 universes remaining, the Anti-Matter uses Psycho Pirate to crush the minds of countless beings to force them to turn on one another, before trying to exterminate the final universes. Defeated by the Heroic Sacrifice of Barry Allen, the Anti-Monitor drains the lives of millions of worlds in the Anti-Matter universe, killing all there. Causing the universes to merge into a single one, the Anti-Monitor unleashes his forces to wipe out humanity and earth, intending on rebuilding everything in his own twisted image.

Post-Crisis (May Also Include Pre-Crisis)

    Examples
  • Aquaman: Black Manta, real name David, makes his living as a brutal pirate, often in the employ of others, and is obsessed with destroying Aquaman at all costs. To this end, Manta killed Aquaman's infant son by trapping him in a chamber that suffocated the boy, despite Arthur's best efforts to save him. Manta continues to torment his nemesis by targeting and murdering those he can. Not even Manta's own family is exempt from his cruelty: his own son, the new Aqualad, was the target of Manta's wrath when Manta attempted to murder him with zealous hatred, for no other reason than rejecting the path Manta wanted for him. In Brightest Day, Manta tries to go straight, opening up a fish market, but when the customers rejoice that Aquaman is alive, Manta murders them with a knife, before burning down his own house and resuming his quest for vengeance. Manta is a vicious, hateful murderer who would poison the entire ocean just for the chance to hurt his nemesis.
  • Before Watchmen:
    • Minutemen: Rolf Müller is a sadistic child Serial Killer, possibly having targeted and molested Hooded Justice when he was a boy. Joining the Nazis for the opportunity to torture children to death in an orphanage, Müller was eventually discharged by the Nazis for being too revolting even by their standards, continuing his usual operations under the guise of a circus strongman afterward.
    • Nite Owl: Reverend Taylor Dean is a preacher who strangled a hooker he was sleeping with after she tried to blackmail him, at which point he realized he enjoyed killing. Choosing to target prostitutes as they are "sinners" against God, Dean kills well over 30 hookers, male and female, young and old, and creates a massive shrine of more than 20 of their corpses to be burned as a sacrifice to God. Hoping to burn Rorschach alive in the process, Dean hopes that his "offering" will result in God blessing him and the city to get rid of more sin, and plans to continue killing people he decides are sinners over and over, repeating the process as he believes he is blessed by God and can't be stopped, and when Twilight Lady tries to take him down, Dean attempts to strangle her to death while shooting off sexually violent remarks.
    • Rorschach: "The Bard" is a Serial Killer who kidnaps women, mutilates their bodies by "writing" on them with a knife, and then dumps their corpses for the world to see. Killing many women this way and increasing the speed and intensity of his murders, the Bard lures his long-time waitress and friend Nancy into a dark alley, where he brutally assaults and mutilates her before slashing her throat and leaving her to die. The Bard gets off nearly scot-free with his killings after being acquitted by a jury, with every indication he hopes to continue his spree before Rorschach murders the madman in revenge for Nancy.
    • Silk Spectre: The Chairman is an amoral music producer who peddles an altered version of LSD to eager teenage consumers to make them more vulnerable to corporate suggestion. The Chairman is apathetic about the rash of overdoses and near-deaths the drug causes, and the moment his operation is in danger, the Chairman opts to have everyone even tangentially connected to it murdered, from witnesses to his own security and staff.
  • Darkseid: Born Prince Uxas, he is one of the New Gods, is the ultimate God of Evil in the DC Universe, and is the Trope Codifier for Dystopia Justifies the Means. As Evil Overlord of Apokolips, Darkseid subjects its denizens to hellish conditions with the overwhelming majority of the population ill-treated slaves. His Elite fare no better as Darkseid is all too willing to subject them to hideous tortures or obliteration should they fail him. Darkseid detests all that is good in the universe and seeks to extend his influence everywhere he can. While he once loved someone, his mother, Heggra, wanting to make him evil killed Suli, helping turn Darkseid into the Galactic Conqueror we know him as (but not before he had Heggra poisoned). During Final Crisis, Darkseid is dying, and so wants to destroy the multiverse and all life in it as a final gesture. He kills his son Orion to gain dominion over Earth. Once there, he enslaved the minds of everyone he could touch, turning them into savage parodies of themselves, intending to as he said "murder their souls and take them to hell without end." His ultimate motive is to use the Anti-Life Equation to rob everybody of free will and turn them all into mindless zombies who worship him as a god while he tortures them eternally, all for fun. Just as bloodthirsty and monstrous as any of those who serve him, Darkseid combines urbane sophistication, limitless cruelty and insatiable drive for power, and is the one single villain that all the heroes despise and fear.
  • DC One Million: Solaris the Sun Tyrant is one half of the Big Bad Duumvirate, alongside Vandal Savage. To topple the Superman dynasty, Solaris has attempted to pull planets from their orbits at the cost of all life on them; scorch the entire surface of Earth; bombard Earth with sentient asteroids; and release a powerful wave of radiation to give the entire population cancer. Reprogrammed to become good, Solaris returns to villainy in the 853rd century out of jealousy towards Superman, convincing its caretaker to travel back in time and release a virus which makes all machines on Earth go haywire and drive humans insane. The same virus used to do the aforementioned crimes also interferes with the guidance system of Savage's rocket, causing it to detonate over Montevideo, Uruguay and killing over one million people. In the past, when it is built to stop the virus, Solaris attempts to destroy the entire planet after gaining sentience. Back in the 853rd century, Solaris makes a final attempt to destroy Superman, slaughtering thousands of superhumans in its insane attempt to best its rival. A spiteful monster obsessed with besting Superman, Solaris may be an artificial intelligence, but it is its bitterness that makes it utterly inhuman.
  • Doctor Destiny: Real name John Dee, under his frail persona lies a sadistic mind rapist. Preferring to fight by targeting heroes in their dreams, Dee was also a vicious murderer. Starting off as a foe of the Justice League of America, his most infamous deeds come from Neil Gaiman's "Master of Dreams" storyline from The Sandman. After escaping an asylum, Dee wins a kind woman's sympathy and later murders her before taking up refuge in a diner and using his new toy, a ruby belonging to Dream of the Endless. Dee uses the ruby to have a child's television show host demonstrate how to slit one's wrists, and causes people all over the world to become Driven to Madness. He then, over the course of hours, tortures the minds of the 6 people in the diner. He forces them to worship him, have sex with one another, abuse one another and horrifically mutilate themselves, subjecting them to horrific pain, mental torture and humiliation, occasionally returning their minds to them so they can comprehend what he is doing simply because he can. Dee makes them worship him before having them kill themselves, even trying to destroy Dream so he may make himself master of the world and repeat the process over and over.
  • Final Crisis: Libra, real name Justin Ballantine, became obsessed with balance and founded the Injustice Gang seeking to become a God. Instead, he ended up dispersed over the cosmos, eventually reforming on Apokolips and pledging allegiance to the aforementioned Darkseid. Taking on the Anti-Life equation, Libra comes to Earth to seduce its villains to his side, even murdering the Martian Manhunter. Enslaving countless minds and warping them into agony and evil, Libra prepares the way for Darkseid to return where every living thing in the multiverse will submit, become his mindless slaves or be exterminated and their souls plunged into an eternity of suffering. Libra even attempts to kill the baby son of Weather Wizard to force him to join up and indicates he intends to make sex slaves of the female super heroines, promising Lex Luthor he can be "first in line" with Supergirl. the insane prophet of the God of Evil himself, Libra devotes himself utterly to darkness, never looking back in his pursuit of wickedness.
  • The Flash:
    • The Barry Allen Flash's Arch-Enemy is Eobard Thawne, the Reverse Flash, aka Professor Zoom. An obsessive fan of Barry, Eobard managed to duplicate Barry's powers. He then attempted to replace Barry, before stalking and apparently murdering his wife, Iris Allen, when she rejected his advances. Eventually he drives Barry to kill him to save his new fiancé before he can kill her. However, Thawne was resurrected years later, and has gone out of his way to cross every line he can find since. Using his time travel powers to edit his life, Thawne kills his brother (who he blamed for holding him back), his parents (who weren't supportive of his obsession with the Speed Force), a professional rival, and every man that a woman he is interested in has ever dated; he then traumatises her as a child when she still spurns him, taking Evil Is Petty to new and exciting levels. He kills Johnny Quick shortly after his own resurrection, tries to force Barry Allen, newly returned to life, into becoming the Black Flash, and during the Flashpoint crossover, alters the time stream further and further to make Barry's life as miserable as possible. In addition, in The Flash: Rebirth he kills Allen's mother, among other acts, thus indirectly causing Flashpoint. He has no Freudian Excuse or mitigating factor for these actions, but is instead just a selfish man who plans to get what he wants at the expense of everyone else.
    • The most infamous criminal in the history of Gorilla City, Grodd was driven into exile after killing the city's benevolent leaders and ruthlessly plundered the mind of his friend Solovar to discover the secrets of mind control. Combining a ruthless brilliance with a gorilla's power, Grodd established himself as a feared player of the underworld. He would brutally murder anyone who stood in his way or just dispose of humans for the enjoyment, considering them far inferior to himself. Grodd's mental prowess is such that he enjoys dominating and twisting the minds of others to feral savagery or into sycophants for his ego. In battle, he is also highly sadistic - for example, crippling Hunter Zolomon, who recalled with terror how Grodd treated him like a toy he could break. To date, Grodd has made no fewer than eighteen attempts to completely wipe out all of humanity to purge what he sees as a lesser race.
  • Green Arrow has faced these 2 Arc Villains:
    • "Hunters Moon": Al Muncy/Muncie is the heir to a bootlegging fortune. A sadist with a penchant for children, Muncie stalked the streets of Seattle to kidnap multiple children, hold them captive and torture them for days on end until death. Only his last victim, young Annie, survived. Eighteen years later, Muncie manages to gain a new trial with Annie as the only witness. Muncie proceeds to torture Annie mentally with letters and by stalking her, before trying to murder her. When he is discovered, Muncie attempts to murder the police lieutenant hunting him after taking the man's daughter hostage and revealing he never intends to let her live anyways.
    • "Quiver": Stanley Dover Sr., aka the Star City Slayer, was the secret main villain. We first meet Stanley Sr. when Green Arrow rescues him from a mugger. Stanley Sr. comes off as a kindly old man and even becomes Green Arrow's assistant. However Stanley Sr. has a secret, he has been a Satanist since the 1950s. His wife left him when he suggested they sacrifice their first born infant to a demon to gain immortality. No longer married, Stanley Sr. traveled the world and studied the occult. Decades later he returned to America and moved to Star City. His daughter Shelia now grown up, made contact with him. Wanting to remain respected by the community, Stanley Sr. pretended to be a loving father. Shelia would often have Stanley Sr. baby sit her infant son, Stanley Dover Jr. One day, while baby sitting Stanley Jr., Stanley Sr. attempted to summon the Beast With No Name and bind it to him. However the Beast bonded with Stanley Jr. instead. Years later, when Stanley Jr. was a teenager, Stanley Sr. found that the Beast had bonded to his grandson. So Stanley Sr. kidnapped his grandson and began to torture and starve him to force the Beast out. Stanley Sr. began to murder children and feed their blood to his grandson. Stanley Sr. eventually revealed his true colors to Green Arrow, planning on transferring his soul into Green Arrow's body to further his power mad quest. Stanley Sr. also plans to rape Mia Dearden, a former teenage prostitute Green Arrow had recently rescued.
  • Green Lantern:
    • Ayria, from Green Lantern Corps Quarterly #7's one-shot "Triumph of the Will", is a vicious, corrupt Green Lantern who uses his powers to oppress the residents of Aegri Somnia. Ayria has his forces brutally slaughter their way through the rebelling yellows on Aegri Somnia 2, resulting in millions of casualties on both sides, before establishing a holocaust and sending the yellows who remain into labor camps where they slowly and agonizingly perish by the millions to fuel Ayria's power battery. A paranoid despot unable to take any form of perceived challenge to his rule, Ayria viciously tortures to death several members of his staff—including his own brother—for reasons as varied as apparent treachery to as petty to having no faith in his rule, and ultimately orders every single remaining yellow to be sent to the camps and executed after torturing one who swallows his ring—ultimately resulting in Ayria's downfall when the ring resonates with the dead yellow's will to resurrect the billions Ayria has killed to tear him to bloody shreds. An unrelenting dictator, Ayria proves even the ostensibly righteous Green Lanterns aren't immune to pure evil in their ranks.
    • Mongul II is a case of Overlord Jr. at its worst, and has dedicated his life to aping and surpassing his equally unpleasant father, Mongul I. During his first appearance in Green Lantern, Mongul II used the Black Mercy plants to trap Hal Jordan and Oliver Queen in a fantasy world; he subsequently murdered his sister, Mongal, and kept her corpse as a trophy. When Mongul II really comes into his own, however, is after gaining a Sinestro Corps Ring (by murdering its owner). Taking control of the Black Mercy homeworld, Mongul II uses his ring to alter the genetics of the Black Mercies so that they will trap their victims in their worst nightmares, instead of their ideal fantasies. He coerces the benevolent Mother Mercy into aiding him by threatening to make her eat her own children if she does not. Defeated by the Green Lanterns, Mongul II escapes from prison, seizes control of the Sinestro Corps by killing anybody who disagrees with him (or even annoys him in the slightest), rips out Arkillo's tongue, and overruns the planet Daxam, slaughtering or enslaving the population. Beaten off by Sodam Yat and Arisia, Mongul II later arrives on Korugar, and is in the process of having the citizenry strung up along the streets when his reign is finally halted by the return of Sinestro.
    • Blackest Night: Nekron, Lord of the Unliving and the face of all death within the DCU, is an entity that eventually proves himself to be far too sadistic a being to simply be a cosmic force doing its job. The force behind the necromantic Black Lanterns, Nekron implicitly influences William Hand into killing himself and his entire family to become his tether into the living world in his bid to enact the "Blackest Night," a state of eternal death imposed upon all creation. Nekron reveals the constant death and resurrection within the universe is a matter of his influence, making those who die and revive sleeper agents—keeping them aware and conscious in their own bodies—and eventually simply turning them all into Black Lanterns, twisting them into horrible, undead mockeries of the people they once were. Through the Black Lanterns, Nekron unleashes a wave of death across everything in his path, turning more and more into Black Lanterns and intent on never stopping until all is silent.
  • Hawkman: Onimar Synn is the strongest of the Seven Devils who plagued the history of Thanagar and one of the planet's greatest and most powerful entities. A Soul Eating demon who nourishes himself on suffering, Synn resurrects countless years after his first defeat and takes over Thanagar, slaughtering its high council and devouring the souls of its populace by the thousands to fuel his undead army, whilst executing thousands more by dropping them from the point of the flying city he takes over. Once more revived by his depraved priest in time for the Rann-Thanagar War, Synn exploits the conflict to devour the dead and dying of Thanagar's populace, impeding the efforts of Kyle Rayner and Adam Strange to stop him by trying to suffocate hundreds of innocents reserved in storage to slake his appetite, before mounting an assault on Rann to devour its populace as well, slaughtering them by the masses and ultimately striving to use their technology to go on and consume every living soul in the universe.
  • Hellblazer: John Constantine has encountered depraved villains, but several leave the rest far behind:
    • The First of the Fallen was already said to be at the bottom of hell when Lucifer himself was cast down. Far more depraved, violent and sadistic than Lucifer, the First is introduced as a trader in souls whom John bests in a battle of wits. The First promptly devotes all energy to vengeance to destroy John in every way, shape and form, while destroying his friends and loved ones and condemning a city to an orgy of blood and violence, simply for his own enjoyment. The First shows no loyalty to allies and frequently destroys them, in one instance changing demon lord Nergal into a mortal to torture him simply for amusement. In his cruelest act, the First captured the soul of John's innocent sister and played upon her love for her hell-bound husband to manipulate her into staying in hell to split the torture between them.
    • Samuel Morris, known as The Family Man, was the first human being John Constantine ever killed. The Family Man was an old man with a penchant for happy families. Upon locating them, with a mother, father, and children, he would murder them by lacerating their bodies and ending by slashing their throats. Having murdered his own parents as a child, the Family Man had a habit of leaving no witnesses, with his victims including John's estranged father. Despite being only human, The Family Man remains one of the most evil and disturbing villains in Hellblazer's annals.
    • Joshua Wright was an unscrupulous magician with no compunction about rape, manipulation or murder. Wright seduced John Constantine's former lover Isabelle Bracknell, and made her his Scarlet Woman, a woman he could practice all his magic through. When he got bored of her, Wright would drive her to the lowest depths for a laugh, forcing her through painful body modification, raping her, getting her pregnant to make her get an abortion and having the aborted fetus implanted under her skin, and having her prostitute herself. In his own words, he was merely amusing himself at this point. When he got tired of her, he murdered her with a hammer. When confronted by John, Wright shows no remorse, gloating "that's what magic's all about, innit? Fucking someone. One way or another."
  • Hitman (1993):
    • Tom Dawson, father of Tommy Monaghan, is a simple Irish businessman who made a name for himself via a series of land deals. Also a vicious egomaniac, Dawson was the frequent client of the local prostitute named Katie. The first time they met, Dawson informed her he knew her trick to shame her hypocritical clients who persecuted her: naming her children after them. Dawson warned her never to try that with him. When Katie became pregnant, and Dawson heard she was considering to name the baby ”Tommy,” he burned down her house with her infant daughter and two young twin sons still inside. Katie was forced to leave her daughter Frances at an orphanage to save her life and fled to America where Dawson found her and butchered her with a knife. Assuming the baby died in the cold, Dawson went back to Ireland until 30 years later when Frances found Tommy and brought him to her old home. Dawson attempted to have Tommy killed and brutally murdered Frances the same way as he had her mother. When Tommy confronted Dawson, Dawson showed no remorse, snarling that Tommy had no right to call him his father and that he and Katie were nothing but gutter trash preying on “respectable men” like himself. After Tommy said that Katie had simply recognized Dawson as a bully and coward and stood up to him the one way she knew how, Dawson's only response was "to hell with her," finally prompting Tommy to shoot him.
    • Mr. Truman, an unassuming, mild-mannered little CIA agent who is out to destroy metahumans (if he can't control them), makes his career on blackmail and murder, but it's not until the final arc where he shows the darkness inside himself. Truman has human beings injected with a special metahuman formula to create a personal army of metahumans but while the formula works, it steals the minds from its subjects. Tommy becomes aware of this when he rescues a young woman who had been a witness Truman had tried to silence by unleashing one of the monsters on her without care for collateral damage. When he realizes the creatures still retain their human minds and are locked in a corner of their heads, incapable of stopping their actions, Truman orders them to be set loose on one another with the resulting carnage filmed for his amusement.
  • Jonah Hex: William "Sawbones" Zimmerman was a brief but memorable foe of Jonah Hex. A former doctor during the Civil War, Zimmerman made a name for himself via horrible experiments and live dissections of prisoners of war, with his apprentices and himself also carrying out the same vivisections on blacks. After the war, Sawbones takes to kidnapping and murdering innocent young women without even the pretense it is for anything but enjoyment. When Hex falls into his hands, the doctor attempts to torture him to death as well, revealing he has a group of like-minded fellows he's trained that he intends to spread into the country, killing those they can via horrible means all in the name of twisted "science."
  • Justice League of America:
    • Felix Faust is one of the most power-hungry sorcerers alive. Kicking off his career by selling his infant son's soul for his own ability, Faust committed many acts of cruel murder and torture to fuel his black magic. When he finally realized he could no longer bargain with his own tainted soul, Faust resorted to harvesting the soul of an innocent little girl to trade to demons. Faust offered his assistance to Black Adam to help resurrect Black Adam's wife Isis, but deceived Adam into thinking Isis's revival had failed, while Faust kept a paralyzed Isis to serve as his personal sex toy.
    • Grant Morrison's JLA: Earth-2 brought us Brainiac's Antimatter Universe counterpart. An organic syntellect who was captured by Ultraman and forced to be his slave, Brainiac schemed to not only escape his bonds, but to upgrade himself into an "Nth Level Intelligence." In order to do this, he swapped a plane in the Antimatter Universe for one in the Matter Universe, killing all the passengers on both in the process, and triggering a war between the Justice League and the Crime Syndicate. While the teams were busy fighting, Brainiac set in motion a plan to merge the Matter and Antimatter Universes, a move that would have resulted in the annihilation of all reality, plotting to use the energy from the resultant explosion to complete his upgrade and become a god. Willing to destroy all life in order to better himself, Antimatter Brainiac was every bit as vile as his Matter Universe twin.
  • Justice Society of America: Delores Winters, or "Endless Winter", starts out as a vain actress and a victim of Ultra-Humanite's body-swapping scheme before becoming even worse than him in her attempt to regain her beauty. Winters swapped her body with her own estranged daughter and left her to die, before instituting a horrific organ trade ring where metas are kidnapped and forced to fight each other, with the losers having their superhuman body parts ripped out and auctioned off while the metas are thrown away like trash. Winters even has Icemaiden flayed while she's still alive to take her alabaster skin, leaving Icemaiden alive and paralyzed for the rest of her foreseeable life.
  • Krona:
    • Also known as Entropy, this frequent foe of Green Lantern is a self-styled scientist and a rogue Maltusian hell-bent on imposing his ideal of "order" on reality. Inadvertently responsible for the creation of the multiverse and evil itself through his experiments—most prominently the omnicidal Anti-Monitor upon the creation of the antimatter universe—Krona's covert experimentation on the Manhunters, the soldiers of the Guardians of the Universe, resulted in them going haywire and decimating countless lives through Sector 666, leaving only five people alive. Eventually banished and reduced to primeval energy, Krona assumed the name of Entropy and, still intent on continuing his experiments, took service under Nekron, intending to release him into the living universe. Later brought back into the universe through the efforts of Maltusian Controllers, Krona enslaved and then obliterated them, attempting to wage war on the consciousness of the universe, even destroying Earth to this cause—and attempting to destroy its soul in a fit of existential pique when it challenged his conceptions of the universe. By the time of Brightest Day, Krona enslaves Parallax and the emotional entities to force his will upon all creation, taking over the Green Lantern Corps and destroying thousands of lives to his cause. Possessed of such a god complex that he is willing to destroy entire universes, Krona's only true desire to slake his unending thirst for knowledge, and remains one of the greatest threats in the DCU.
    • JLA/Avengers: Krona is a former Oan scientist and callous egomaniac who desires to learn the secrets of the universe, and later goes on to destroy countless universes to discover their creation. Arriving in the Marvel Universe, he makes a bet with the Grandmaster, to put the heroes from their universes against each other to collect a dozen cosmic items. When Krona loses, he reacts by fatally torturing the Grandmaster, before summoning Galactus and killing him in a fit of rage. Using Galactus's corpse as a new base of operations, Krona learns of the sentience of the two worlds—Eternity and Kismet—trapping the two beings together to learn their secrets. When Metron calls out Krona for caring about conquest as opposed to knowledge, Krona eventually admits to this. Hoping to recreate Galactus's origins with himself in his stead, Krona plans on forcing the Marvel and DC Universes together to destroy them both and start a new Big Bang.
  • Dr. Arthur Light was a man with one singular passion: his absolute love of rape. A supervillain with powers over energy, Light had been considered a joke for a time. It was revealed in Identity Crisis that the reason for this was because Zatanna had given him a magic lobotomy, because Light had snuck aboard the League's satellite and found the Elongated Man's wife Sue Dibny there alone, and took the chance to violently rape her. After he regains his mind, Light returns to his favorite habits. He also stole the powers from the heroic Dr. Light, Kimiyo Hoshi, comparing his violation of her to a rape in of itself. Becoming steadily more sadistic and depraved, Light enjoyed hurting every superhero he could and threatened to rape their loved ones as he had Sue Dibny. When the Spectre, the spirit of God's vengeance itself, visited Light to punish him in Final Crisis, he was in the midst of preparing to rape a group of girls he'd dressed as heroines from the Teen Titans to satisfy his hatred of and lust for them.
  • Lucifer: Fenris is the Nordic Beast of the Apocalypse and the self-proclaimed ruler of "everything that ravels, rapes, and rends". Following God's abdication of His throne, leading to the slow unraveling of the universe, Fenris decided to take a personal interest in speeding up the process. Murdering several other Norse gods whom he'd previous claimed he'd made peace with, Fenris takes control of a mentally ill man and tries to force him to murder his wife and son among the roots of Yggdrasil, which would render the destruction of the universe inevitable. When this plan fails, Fenris murders his accomplice, the African trickster god Abonsam, and uses his blood to take control of Lucifer and kill his brother Michael, watering the tree with his blood. In the final arc, Fenris joins Lilith's alliance of past villains, eviscerates the Archangel Uriel, kills the noble human Hell-Lord Christopher Rudd, and destroys God's throne, which would have immediately destroyed the entire cosmos had God's granddaughter, Elaine Belloc, not agreed to succeed him.
  • Major Force: Clifford Zmeck, the Evil Counterpart of Nathaniel Adam and a Rogues' Gallery Transplant to Kyle Rayner, is living proof that power in the hands of the wrong people breeds utter catastrophe. A psychopath guilty of rape and murder long before earning his moniker of Major Force, Zmeck was launched forward decades into the future after being infused with alien metals and was enlisted by the government as an operative. Dubbed "Major Force," time and time again he demonstrated that he had absolutely no qualms with abusing his own powers, brutally strangling the girlfriend of Rayner to death and leaving her remains in Kyle's fridge to taunt him. Soon after this, Force apparently killed Green Lantern Arisia Rrab out of petty revenge by savagely crushing her skull—leaving Guy Gardner a taunting note about how she died slowly—before moving on to tear Gardner's heart out and incinerate his own employer, solely so he could enjoy his new freedom. Though seemingly killed by Gardner, Force would regenerate and resurface, responding to Power Girl severing his hands by unleashing a wave of atomic energy that nearly obliterated Tokyo and playing a sadistic mind game with Kyle by apparently murdering his grandmother in an identical way to how he killed his girlfriend—before revealing he'd simply used a prop to mess with Kyle. Unpredictable to the point where he ripped off one of his nominal teammates' arms and beat him to death with it, and completely willing to murder both innocents and his own allies for any given reason he could think of, Force's own summation of himself as "Hell on Earth" is an appropriate title for such a wantonly cruel madman.
  • Manhunter: Walter "Walt" Pratt was the illegitimate son of the Justice Society heroes Phantom Lady and Iron Munroe. Growing up in a series of foster homes, Walt gained a streak of violent misogyny that manifested in brutally killing women later in life. Abusing and eventually murdering his own wife, Walt was sent to prison for the majority of his daughter Kate's life. When Kate was an adult with a young son, Walt returned to her life, revealing he was dying of bone cancer. Seeking to extend his life, Walt tried to kidnap his own grandson Ramsey to harvest his bone marrow to save his own life while paying the two supervillains he hired to do the transplant with Kate's ex-husband Peter, allowing the villains to torture him to death on camera. When he learned Ramsey was not a match, he tried to blackmail Kate to sacrifice herself in the transplant by threatening to beat Peter to death using Ramsey. When he realized there was no further way to survive, Walt proceeded to attempt to kill both Kate and Ramsey, just to ensure his whole bloodline would be extinct.
  • Martian Manhunter: J'onn's own twin brother, Ma'alefa'ak J'onzz—or Malefic—had his natural psychic powers stripped by his own people by abusing his telepathic powers, using them to cruelly Mind Rape J'onzz's wife. Out of petty spite, Malefic engineered a fatal psychic plague among his people, causing whatever Martian that used their psychic powers to horribly burn and die as a result and singlehandedly destroying almost his entire race as a result. Pursuing his brother J'onn to Earth in a single-minded crusade to end his brother's life and complete his genocide, Malefic tried various times to destroy his brother and all those close to him, murdering the partner of his human identity, Karen Smith, and trying to mentally drive his own brother to suicide through a remnant of himself before his final death.
  • Peter "Mort" Mortimer, aka Scavenger and later Barracuda, stands out as one of the most horrifying minor villains in the DC universe. Originally appearing as a dangerous, if corny, villain of Aquaman, his list of crimes included attempting to poison an entire ocean and kill numerous people, among them a child. Mort seemingly took a turn for the better when he made a Heel–Face Turn to save children's lives, but this didn't last very long, as Mort was later revealed to be a despicable child rapist who rapes young boys, records then sells the acts, and will often rip the children's hearts out for fun. When confronted by an enraged Hawkman and Aquaman, the latter of whom thought Mort was a "friend", Mort shows nothing but smug glee at his crimes, with him brushing them off as nothing more than him having "urges" he needed to satisfy.
  • The Outsiders: Mr. Tanner, from the Wanted arc, manages to occupy a special field of depravity despite being a normal human with no superhuman powers. Mr. Tanner runs an international slavery ring, with a focus on young children; countless children are abducted from across the globe to be painfully branded and serve as abused sex slaves for years on end at the hands of Tanner and his buyers. Having perpetuated the ring of pedophilic rape and torture for years, Tanner catches the eye of one of his previous victims—Grace Chou, who suffered under his abuses for three years and is now a fully-grown superhuman—and goads her into coming back into his grasp by arranging the murder of an innocent man and kidnapping the young daughter of Arsenal to be turned into a sex slave. Tanner's atrocities are a dark reminder of similar incidents happening every day in real life, and despite being an incredibly minor villain in the long run, Tanner still stands out as one of the most realistically depraved characters in the DC universe.
  • Secret Six:
    • Junior, real name Alex Merkel, daughter of the first Ragdoll, is a crime boss so depraved and ruthless that even Intergang gives her a wide berth. Famed for her cruelty and monstrousness, Junior routinely offers her victim a choice of dying horribly or letting Junior kill their families. When most choose the second choice, Junior records it, along with the victim's horrible death, and sends it to the families. Having obtained a card that is literally a pass out of hell, Junior kills and tortures countless people, raping men and women alike. When the card is stolen, Junior attempts to have her sins absolved by a priest, only to painfully kill the man when he refuses. Junior captures Bane of the Secret Six, who has the card, and tortures him with scissors and bricks to gain the location of the others. At the end, Junior loses control and attempts to slaughter every villain present when they see her mutilated true appearance, even her own brother Peter/Ragdoll II. Junior knows what a depraved monster she truly is and commits countless evil deeds because she loves it and feels she can get away with anything due to the card in her possession.
    • Mr. Smyth from the the "Depths" arc is a man with a radical plan to "better" the world: Bring back the institution of slavery, as it is what "great nations" are built upon. Smyth takes in the slaves and forces them to work in horrible conditions, leading to their deaths from overwork, cave-ins or gas. When a slave named Maria refuses to work any more, Smyth has his assistant begin slaughtering innocent slaves en masse until a broken Maria promises to keep working. Smyth later tricks Deadshot into murdering Maria by offering her "freedom" if she can run to safety before telling Deadshot she is an escaping dangerous prisoner. Smyth also keeps Amazons as slaves with the intent to force them into servitude or death as well, and shows no concern over anything but the restoration of the institution of slavery.
  • Shazam!!: Mister Mind is a two-inch long parasitic worm from Venus. As his race's advance scout on Earth, Mister Mind took control of Captain Marvel's cousin, Sinclair Batson, mutating him into a monster. When Captain Marvel and Mary Marvel foiled Mind's plans, the worm vowed revenge, and bodyjacking Sarge Steel of the Department of Metahuman Affairs, set in motion a plan for a nuclear holocaust. Incubating his larvae in sores within Sinclair's body, Mind took mental control of his offspring after they were born and had them in turn infest nuclear technicians, army officers, and politicians, while he himself used Sarge Steel's authority to obliterate Fairfield, Captain Marvel and Mary Marvel's hometown. Defeated before he could end humanity, Mind broke out again during the events of 52, and after mutating into his adult form of the Hyperfly, tried to devour the totality of space/time, plotting to end the multiverse.
  • The Spectre: Richard Redditch, a seemingly-average man who in actuality is a Serial Killer who collects ears from his victims, becomes far worse after illicit experimentation to activate his meta-gene turns his soul into electrical energy. Able to channel himself into any electrical device anywhere, Redditch glories in his new power with a series of murders, brainwashing other people to mutilate and murder other innocent people for him in his mission to "be heard". Unsatisfied, Redditch figuratively and literally destroys all conscience holding him back and drags the souls of one million people into his own private digital world to become power batteries and slaves for him, intending to initiate a nuclear holocaust on the world above to drag all of humanity into the same fate to become his tortured, mindlessly-worshipping playthings for all eternity.
  • Starman: The first Ragdoll, Peter Merkel, was once just a two-bit thief whose gimmick was being triple jointed. Tired of being a joke, he decided to reinvent himself as a mass-murdering cult leader. Gathering together the lost, the homeless, the addicts together to fuel his growing ego, Merkel decided to revenge himself upon the world and directed multiple murders, making the streets of Opal City run red with blood, with Merkel indiscriminately targeting the innocent, intending to target the innocent families of his enemies. Merkel took advantage of his hold over his cult to take sexual advantage of the women, and hideously abused the resulting children. His son, Peter Merkel Jr, was hideously scarred by his attempts to surgically alter his body to be like his father, and he went so far as to have himself castrated since they "got in the way", only to be rejected by his father anyway. His daughter Alex suffered worse. Having desired a little girl, Merkel subjected her to horrible sexual, mental and physical abuse. Merkel became despised until his death by the rest of the supervillain community for his treachery and depravity and stands as a unique icon of a former Harmless Villain becoming a genuine terror.
  • Swamp Thing: Anton Arcane, Mad Scientist-turned-Evil Sorcerer, as presented in Alan Moore's run, is one of Swamp Thing's most recurring and vile enemies. Originally trying and failing to steal Swamp Thing's body for his own use, Arcane survives his near-demise by becoming a monstrous spirit. Orchestrating several problems Swamp Thing had to face, notably unleashing the demonic Monkey King to prey on innocent children and slaughter their families, Arcane returns to a physical form by stealing the body of his niece, Abby's, husband. Arcane proceeds to rape and murder Abigail then curse her soul to an eternity of torment in Hell simply to hear her scream, before beginning his master plan. Reviving numerous murderers and serial killers and unleashing them across America, Arcane causes a wave of violence and hate to begin emanating across the country, causing family members to kill each other, babies to be suffocated, and his revived killers to target playgrounds of children, all while planning to take his anarchy on a global scale and bring about his own apocalypse. Arcane spends his last moments gleefully mocking Swamp Thing about how much he enjoys his crimes, and, even when banished to Hell, Arcane can only laugh as he recalls how he reduced to his own brother to a tortured monstrosity that even now causes Abigail great pain. A sadistically twisted monster of a man who cares only for immortality and causing pain to others, Anton Arcane is inarguably Swamp Thing's most hated foe, and for good reason.
  • Vandal Savage: Born Vandar Adg, he was a caveman who received super intellect and immortality from a meteorite, after which he used his endless life to become the biggest monster he could. Over the millennia, he has been one of the most vicious and depraved men in history and one of the most efficient, best manipulators in the DCU, with billions of bodies to his name. Vandal has spent his time as The Man Behind the Man to many conquerors, organizing conquests and massacres. Vandal has also fathered legions of monsters, but with the exception of one child, he considers the rest pathetic and treats their lives or deaths as not worthy of his attention. His treatment toward his sole legitimate child, Scandal, was no better: On her birthday, he forced her to run a gauntlet of men beating her, and if she failed, he swore he'd murder her mother. Despite Scandal being a lesbian, Vandal wants a male heir—and has no compunction having Scandal raped by other supervillains to get it. Vandal's crimes have also including introducing a new drug in the stead of heroin that burns out its users to death very quickly; cannibalism—which he might well have invented as a concept; attempting to pull an asteroid down to Earth; murdering Golden Age superheroes with their families after founding a Neo-Nazi group called The Fourth Reich; and planning to nuke Washington, D.C. (thanks to Solaris, Montevideo, Uruguay was nuked instead, killing over a million people).
  • Wonder Woman:
    • Edgar Cizko, better known as the infamous Doctor Psycho, is the epitome of a Depraved Dwarf and a raging misogynist with a long and memorable rap sheet. Psycho introduced himself by psychically torturing a guidance counselor who confronts him over subtly manipulating the minds of a school's students and attempting to murder her and her unborn baby in the process. After this incident, Psycho would go on to wreak swaths of death and mayhem with his powers, often teaming up with others, racking up a count of driving and attempting to drive people to suicide on numerous occasions, molesting and raping women he fancies, going on a psychotic rampage after being called "normal" and, in possibly his worst moment, hypnotizing an entire crowd of people into partially cannibalizing each other. Psycho, aroused by this, allowed the people to live as an act of sheer torture, even condemning them to feel his own sexual pleasure as their own. A man whose diminutive, nonthreatening stature is vastly disproportionate to his evil, Psycho is one of Diana's most shamelessly wicked rogues.
    • Doctor Poison II has only had a few appearances, but has made up for that with the sheer ugliness of the crimes she commits. The granddaughter of a Japanese war criminal, the original Doctor Poison, she has continued her grandmother's research, creating new toxins and diseases with which to infect the world. Kidnapping a man named Richard Agoras, Doctor Poison subjected him to lengthy torture and experimentation, ultimately using the Pandora Virus to mutate him into a hideous monster, and unleashing him on Wonder Woman. When captured following this incident, Doctor Poison released the Pandora Virus into the atmosphere, endangering millions of lives. Escaping custody, Poison joined Queen Clea's new Villainy Incorporated, and helped to overrun the Pocket Dimension of Skartaris, requesting that any prisoners they took be turned over to her for further use in her experiments. Using drugs and prolonged torture, Poison transformed her victims into living zombies, and forced them to battle their friends and relatives when Skartaris rose up against Clea's despotic regime. When Trinity betrayed Clea and attempted to eliminate all sentient life in Skartaris, Poison tried to prevent Wonder Woman from stopping Trinity, hoping to see the dimension destroyed by Trinity's new virus; she later willingly loaned her talents to the collective responsible for producing the monster Genocide. Obsessed with producing the perfect toxic agents and little else, and making her appearance as horrible as possible in order to maximize fear in her victims, Doctor Poison II is as bad as a Mad Scientist can get.
    • Sebastien Ballesteros, aka Cheetah III, quickly proved himself the worst person to ever hold the title. An Argentine robber baron who made his fortune collaborating with the National Reorganization Process, Ballesteros decided real power trumped riches and stole the power of the Cheetah from Barbara Minerva, leaving her for dead. Kidnapping Diana's foster sister, Vanessa Kapatelis, Ballesteros psychologically and surgically modified her into becoming the Silver Swan, then unleashed her on Cassie Sandsmark's school, leaving dozens of students injured or dead. He subsequently forced Vanessa to join in his and Circe's plot to murder half of New York, and personally captured Superman so that Circe could brainwash him into believing that he was Doomsday and turn him loose on Diana. After this plan failed, Ballesteros retreated to his base in Buenos Aires, where he plotted to slaughter protestors with his Cheetah powers, and burned down much of the city in battle with the returned Barbara Minerva. Escaping with his life, but not the whole of his fortune, Ballesteros again kidnapped Vanessa, who had been briefly freed by Wonder Woman, and put her through another round of torture, surgery, and psychological conditioning, before selling her to Veronica Cale for ten million dollars. Murdered by Minerva shortly afterwards, Ballesteros left behind a legacy of misery and shattered lives.
    • Astarte, the renegade Amazon, swiftly proved herself the nastiest villain of Gail Simone's run. After usurping command of the nomadic intergalactic army known as The Citizenry, Astarte transformed what had been a largely pacific collective into a rampaging horde that destroyed and cannibalized the populaces of entire planets, kidnapped, genetically modified and raped men for reproductive purposes, and indoctrinated stolen girls into becoming loyal slave-soldiers for Astarte's wars. Having put her daughter, Theana, through Training from Hell—forcing her to murder one hundred other children or starve—Astarte kept her caged like an animal, only turning her loose when Wonder Woman threatened her invasion of Earth. When Diana started getting through to Theana, Astarte ordered her daughter executed.
  • Young Justice: William "Billy" Hayes, better known as Harm from this initially light-hearted comic series, was a teenage supervillain who was also a complete sociopath. Adopted by loving parents, Harm initially terrified his adoptive younger sister Greta and her fears were proven right when Harm murdered her in her bathtub to seal a demonic pact and give himself super powers. His goal was to become the world's greatest murderer and he decided to hunt down and destroy all the kid heroes before moving on to the big leagues. He captured Red Tornado and reprogrammed him as a suicide bomber against Pope John Paul II to make a name for himself in the supervillain community. When his father, realizing what he was, killed Harm with a gunshot to the back, Harm's spirit later returned. He possessed his father and used his body to enact more evil deeds, none more enjoyable to him than screwing with Greta, now the ghostly heroine Secret, by making her think her father never truly loved her. When defeated, Harm, for sheer spite, forced his father to throw himself into one of the fire-pits of Apokolips while Harm possessed him to kill them both.
  • Zatanna: Eldon Peck was formerly a disgruntled mystic and cultist who condemned thirteen children to eternal agony to gain supernatural powers, transforming him into the sinister Brother Night. A Serial Rapist who used his compelling powers to force women to sleep with him, Night plots to take over the criminal underworlds of both the magical and mundane worlds, gathering the crime lords of San Francisco in one place before having them gruesomely murdered in a variety of creative ways. To stop Zatanna from foiling his schemes, Night targets the innocent after his attempt to condemn Zatanna to an eternal nightmare fails, trying to damn Zatanna's crew in the same manner he cursed the children and forcing Zatanna to fight the enslaved spirit of her own father. After his return to villainy following his apparent defeat, Night drives the prisoners and guards of the prison infirmary he's in to fanatical madness and suicide, magically stripping away the flesh of the remaining prisoners and using their bones as a ladder to make his grand escape. Appropriately described by Zatanna as a narcissistic, power-mad maniac, Night's quest to destroy Zatanna and everyone she loved cements him as the magician's cruelest and most tenacious foe.

New 52

    Examples
  • Anti-Monitor: Real name Mobius, he was a murderous monster even before he bonded with the Anti-Life Equation. Since then, Mobius has annihilated entire universes, destroying Universe 3's Krypton and earth, forcing the Crime Syndicate to flee. Upon becoming away of the Prime Earth, and seeking a way to remove the Anti-Life equation, Mobius reveals himself as a sadistic monstrosity whose only concern is the lack of personal satisfaction from destroying things from a distance. Instead, Mobius simply wants to annihilate everything he can up close to enjoy the bloodshed, pain and suffering. Killing Ultraman painfully, Mobius intends to wiping out all of Earth before moving on to the rest of existence, starting with the Justice League.
  • Darkseid, born as a mud farmer named Uxas, orchestrated the war between the Old Gods and used it to steal power from them, transforming into a New God and destroying his home planet as the first act of his new status. Later on, he created his own world Apokolips, which he ruled over as an Evil Overlord, killing anyone for the slightest disobedience. He destroyed countless worlds in the Multiverse while chasing after Kaiyo, who he wanted to kill for daring to disobey his order. He orders simultaneous invasions on Prime Earth and Earth-2, killing millions in the process, including Earth-2 versions of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. After his attack on Prime Earth failed, he directed his attention solely on Earth-2, conquering it and using it as a Living Battery for Apokolips. Later on, Darkseid takes over Lena Luthor's mind, using her to send Superman and Lex Luthor to Apokolips, where he orders Desaad to release prisoners from slave camps and promises freedom to anyone who kills Superman, hoping that Superman will break if forced to kill innocent slaves. After being transformed to a child, Darkseid uses his daughter Grail to kill Greek Gods to restore his power. Planning to take back his throne on Apokolips, he organized an attack on the Amazon island Themyscira and turned many Amazons in to a new breed of parademons, before being stopped by Wonder Woman.
  • The Flash: Gorilla Grodd is the tyrannical ruler of Gorilla City and one of Barry Allen's most monstrous foes. Taking control of Gorilla City by killing his father and consuming his brain, Grodd tries to exact this same fate upon the Flash in the hopes of gaining his powers, intending to use them to conquer the Earth. Seemingly defeated by the Flash, Grodd viciously re-takes control over Gorilla City, killing all the Elder gorillas except for one, whom he straps to a torturous mental device to allow him and his army to invade Central City. Trapped in the Speed Force by the Flash, Grodd later returns, empowered by the Speed Force's energy. Upon discovering that the apes have made peace with the humans, Grodd impales their new leader, Solovar, and slaughters dozens of humans and gorillas alike until they submit to his will. Grodd promptly sets up a brutal dictatorship, reducing the human population to slaves and killing anyone who even mildly questions his orders. Eventually growing bored of his victory, Grodd destroys Central City, reducing it to a burning wasteland. A merciless despot willing to kill both human and ape alike to serve his goals, Grodd was as much a savage beast inside as he was on the outside.
  • Green Lantern: Volthoom is the Big Bad of the Wrath of the First Lantern storyline. Before the beginning of the plot, he was responsible for the torture and murder of millions of people across the universe, which lead to his imprisonment by the Guardians. When they decided to put him in lesser restraints eons later in order to further their own plans, Volthoom broke free and set off on a quest to regain his lost powers by feeding on the emotions of various Lantern ring wielders. To do this, he pulls off a Despair Gambit on each one by showing them visions of what could have happened had something gone different in their most defining or tragic moments in their lives, warping reality around them so that they become immersed in it, and denying them the chance to change the past. Out of all the emotions, he finds negative ones such as despair and misery the most savory to him. This leaves his victims physically and mentally broken as a result; in doing this, he almost drove Atrocitus to suicide. When Sinestro resisted Volthoon and lashed back at him, Volthoom destroyed Sinestro's home planet Korugar and everyone on it. Volthoom's ultimate goal after completely restoring his power is to rewrite all of reality to the way he wants it to be.
  • Mongul is the sociopathic ruler of the weaponized moon, Warworld, and one of the most wicked villains in the New 52 continuity. Having become a firm believer in "survival of the fittest" after witnessing an animal brawl end in blood and death as a child, Mongul immediately murdered his baby brother, followed by his own parents when they tried to get him counseling. In the present, as the cruel leader of the aforementioned hellish Warworld, Mongul uses it to attack dozens of planets across the galaxy, massacring the populations of millions then subjecting many of them to And I Must Scream fates with his Black Mercy plant, while using any survivors as soldiers, slaves, or raw material to be harvested. Along with this, Mongul runs Gladiator Games where any losers will have their entire races exterminated. When any enemy leaders specifically ask him to surrender before they are fully aware of his power, Mongul personally rips their heads off, mounts them on pikes, then displays them as trophies, of which he has hundreds. Later, after failing to turn all of Earth into a Hive Mind of chaos under his control, Mongul coldly kills his son, Jochi, for failing to live up to his reputation, and eventually lays a trap for the Sinestro Corps, hoping to massacre them and force any survivors into his thrall, all while taunting the helpless Sinestro about the torture he intends to inflict on him and his people. Disgusted with everything weaker than himself and angered by anything stronger, this version of Mongul is just as bad as any of his previous incarnations.
  • Mother Panic: Gala is a Mad Artist who hires herself out for "commissions". Introduced painting a canvas by slashing a man's throat, she is ultimately behind a rash of kidnappings in Gotham, having taken nearly a dozen children to be abused and chained up in a sick "Heavenly" exhibit for whatever purposes her sexually depraved employer likes. When the children are nearly rescued, she tries to burn them all alive out of spite, before continuing her butchering ways, next seen using a man's intestines for another exhibit. She is revealed to have been a backer and associate of the vile child experimentation group "Gather House", having used their torture and brainwashing to turn a child into her puppet, who she trains in her Serial Killer ways.
  • The New 52: Futures End & Batman Beyond: Brother EYE is an A.I. created by Batman and Mister Terrific, originally designed to protect humanity but having undergone a sudden Face–Heel Turn. Despising flesh and seeking to exploit psychological warfare, it decided to assimilate everyone, turning superheroes into grotesque embodiments of Body Horror either by turning them into cyborg monsters or by sewing them to fleshy servants like Frankenstein. Upon learning of Batman's plot with Terry McGinnis, it decides to sew Batman with the Joker to create a cyborg monster that it sends back in time. In the past it is revealed that it manipulated Cadmus by holding King Faraday's family hostage and making a deal with Fifty Sue—whose later rejection prompts it to spite her by revealing her file in order to psychologically break her—taking advantage of the discrimination against Earth-2 heroes by subjecting them to inhumane experiments and embedding them with implants that spread over them like cancer. It always takes its time to taunt people, culminating in The Reveal that all of the plot was meaningless as Tim Drake goes forward in time to find a hologram of a perfect future, which quickly dissipates as Brother EYE mocks him, disguised as his Love Interest. All too casual to subject everyone to torture from children to Superman himself and revealing in its sadism, this iteration of the character is one of the most pointlessly cruel villains in DC's recent years.
  • Swamp Thing: Anton Arcane's new incarnation is a being of boundless cruelty. In his pursuit of immortality, Arcane took over the elemental force of The Rot, the natural force of death and decay, and subsumed it to his will. Arcane extends the Rot to devour all that lives and trap the world in deathless limbo he can rule. Arcane even forced his own nephew to be the Rot's avatar, devouring his mind from within. In Arcane's battles with Swamp Thing, Alec Holland saw a future where Arcane gruesomely tortured and beheaded Abigail and saw lobotomized clones Arcane had made of her as Cannon Fodder.
  • Teen Titans: Trigon is a being born of celestial blasphemy who willingly absorbed the collected evils of a hundred galaxies contained within the Heart of Darkness to become a supremely powerful demonic overlord. To spread his evil, Trigon would pull women from various universes into his realm, rape them, and send them back to their universes to give birth to his demonic spawn, often leading to the women's death. Through these means, Trigon brings about the ruination of countless worlds as his brood destroy everything in their path. Conceiving a daughter, Raven, with a human woman named Arella, Trigon intends to corrupt her into becoming his heir by having her cut a swathe of terror throughout his realm; aside from her, Trigon disregards his other offspring, considering them disappointments. Attacking New York City, Trigon and his sons wreak havoc, and even possesses the Teen Titans into turning on each other, all as part of a ploy to ingratiate Raven into the Titans and allow her to conquer Earth in his name.
  • Ultraman: This member of the Crime Syndicate, and Superman's Evil Counterpart, real name Kal-Il, took control of the world after murdering his adoptive parents, slaughtering countless humans to enact his Social Darwinist philosophy until the world was destroyed by the Anti-Monitor. Fleeing to earth, Ultraman begins taking it over, sparking bloody riots and mass destruction while he intends on killing countless humans to set up a world where only the strong survive, before torturing Jimmy Olsen and attempting to take Lois Lane apart piece by piece. Wildstorm Universe

    Examples
  • For the Wildstorm universe in general, TAO is the most vile the world has to offer. TAO was created as the Tactical Augmented Organism, growing at an amazing rate into a man. The problem was, TAO grew with a sense of cold superiority and disdain for all others. He masterminded several wars between superheroes, resulting in many casualties, in an early attempt to end the world. Using his powerful hypnotic suggestion abilities, he forced the strongest heroes into being his sex slaves to prevent them from stopping him. After these plans fail, TAO reinvents himself as the ruler of a crime syndicate where he distinguishes himself with cold professionalism combined with violent sadism. As the hero of Sleeper describes it, TAO won't pull out your guts. He'll make you do it to yourself, and enjoy it all the while.
  • Lord Helspont of the Daemonites is one of the most powerful and wicked of his kind. Stationed on Earth centuries ago, Helspont possessed the body of an Acuran and, in the 1970s, convinced a man named Slaughterhouse Smith into helping him unleash a total nuclear holocaust among the planet to decimate humanity, having him slaughter a military base to procure the nukes— before aiming the first at New York City and trying to force Smith to watch as his only friends and family were blown from the earth. From there onward, Helspont made numerous attempts to eradicate all life on the planet or otherwise subject them, attempting to draw in his race through the "Reunification" to use all life as body suits for the Daemonites, and attempting to rewrite history itself to the Daemonites' advantage. A steadfast enemy of the Wild Cats, and especially of the Kherubim Mr. Majestic, Helspont's attempt to kill them, in the skin of CEO James Wyvern, had him fuse his soldiers into one horrible abomination to be loosed on his enemies, and attempted to have the Youngbloods and the WildC.A.T.S. wipe each other out to make his own goals easier. Even when forced to ally with Mr. Majestic upon the invasion of Javen and his Kheran minions, Helspont still betrayed Majestic and tried to steal the power of the ancient Planet Shaper Javen sought to reshape the planet in his own image and wipe out all life, turning down Majestic's offer of mutual peace out of sheer hatred. Driven by undying, genocidal spite towards the Kherubim and the human life he sees as inferior, and with countless acts of murder and torture on his hands, Helspont remained one of the most persevering and deadly foes within the WildStorm universe for very good reason.
  • Kaizen Gamorra, patriarch of Clan Gamorra after killing his brothers and absolute dictator of the rogue Asian nation Gamorra, is a cruel sadist even by the standards of WildStorm's Rogues Gallery. Deposed as the ruler of his nation for decades and replaced with the imposter John Colt, Kaizen takes over Gamorra again once Colt is deposed and quickly proves himself miles worse than his predecessor, having a plane full of 233 innocent people bombed with no survivors and allowing the Gen-Factor stored on the plane to spill into the nearby town to kill most of its populace through nightmarish mutation. Gleefully boasting that his very nation and philosophies are founded on terrorism for its own sake, Kaizen uses his army of cloned superhumans in an attempt to slaughter millions of people across the world's most major cities to transfix the planet with fear. Violently oppressing his own people when not actively attempting to attack the rest of the world, marrying wives he soon discards by countless numbers and having the nation's Mechajin population brutally exploited as slaves of every sort, Kaizen's reaction to the coming end of the world is to bring his estranged daughter to his side through manipulation and turn Gamorra into a floating, impenetrable superweapon. When the apocalypse hits, Kaizen has his superhuman soldiers massacre the survivors by the hundreds, intending to plunder the remains of Earth for resources before using the Bleed to attack, crush, and conquer every other parallel Earth. A tyrant who devotes himself to the spread of terror and suffering for nothing more than his own amusement, Kaizen boils down his philosophies to being a wolf in a world of sheep, a terrorist only too gleeful to slaughter millions of people and keep all else cowed in perpetual fear of what he can do to them.
  • The Authority: Regis Slzfi, warmongering dictator of the alternate Earth named Sliding Albion, earns the distinctive honor, despite only appearing in 4 issues in 1999, of being one of the most astonishingly vile villains to ever fight against the Authority. A member of the Blue which colonized Sliding Albion centuries ago, Regis distinguishes himself from even the other Blues by virtue of his aggression and sadism, poisoning the entire planet through repeated campaigns of war and overuse of chemical weapons that lead to countless lives lost. When Regis is tasked to repopulate the dying Sicilian-Blues— poisoned by Regis's own insane conquest—Regis starts using entire countries as rape camps, invading highly populated countries like China and totally butchering the male populations to use the entirety of the females as rape fodder. Regis's pettiness and arrogance leads him to attempt to murder his own son Lorenzo and his wife when they wed, vowing to slaughter the entire city and decorate it with the skinned faces of its populace, and tricking a man into slaughtering an entire gathering of people before crushing the man's head and devouring his children due to an offhand insult the man makes. To complete his task of repopulation, Regis has his forces assault the main Earth with the intention to turn the entire planet into a rape camp, and roars to Midnighter whilst beating him into a bloody pulp that he's butchered and raped countless people over half a millennium. Egotistical and xenophobic among a laundry list of other traits and unconcerned even with the survival of his own people so long as he can glory in his own victories, Regis is one of the singularly most depraved villains to ever grace the Crapsack World he inhabits.
  • Planetary: Randall Dowling is the leader of The Four, an evil analogue of The Fantastic Four. For decades, he has kept Earth's technology at its current level by withholding or suppressing discoveries that could eradicate disease—including the cure for cancer—and save countless lives. in addition, Dowling locates children with budding technological skill able to advance humanity. He has their families killed in "accidents", before tormenting and brainwashing the kids into using their talents to stifle humanity's growth, with bombs planted in them in case anyone tries to rescue them. Using the Red Scare as a threat, Dowling also creates "City Zero", where suspected "spies" are rounded up and subjected to inhuman experiments, kept alive in horrible agony for Dowling's purposes. To store his experiments and weapons, Dowling also wiped out all life on a planet, just to ensure it was freed for storage. Treating his fellow members of the Four as disposable as well, Dowling's only care is for his own ego, advancement and power, no matter how many worlds he sacrifices.

Consuming whole star systems and devouring entire worlds, then using what's left of the population as fuel for his army, Annihilus wipes out numerous races and leaves the Skrulls near-extinct with his genocidal campaign. Annihilus implants numerous innocents with body-controlling bugs that painfully force them to do his bidding and when one of his armadas encounters resistance while invading a world, Annihilus massacres the entire fleet for taking too long to destroy the planet. Capturing Galactus and many of his Heralds after brutally murdering the hero Quasar, Annihilus uses them as superweapons, which leaves them in a near-death state of constant agony, then reveals he plans to use them to wipe out all life in the universe and reign over the void that's left. Harboring hatred and disgust for everything in the universe that isn't himself, Annihilus is the worst being the Negative Zone has to offer.

After learning that the Rawhide Kid was behind Billy's murder and is currently on board a train filled with Indian schoolchildren, Trask giddily decides to not only murder Rawhide, but also kill and scalp the near dozen Indian children as well, hoping to sell their scalps to Tyler for an extra profit. Upon achieving his freedom, Belasco intends on raping Ka-Zar's love Shanna for a new breed of demons before latching on to the X-Men, especially young Illyana Rasputin. In hell, Belasco torments her physically and mentally to give in to corruption, trying to kill everyone she has loved to make her a vessel of darkness so he may unleash his dark masters on the world to kill and damn all of humanity; his methods include using Punisher foe Reverend Samuel Smith as a pawn, as well as seizing control of the monstrous N'Garai to loose them on the world to feast at will. When he faces the New Mutants, hunting for Illyana again, Belasco tortures and kills them, before healing and reviving them to do it again, threatening to bring the entirety of Earth into Limbo and burn it clean until he finds Illyana.
  • Black Panther: Reverend Doctor Michael Ibn al-Hajj Achebe, while allegedly having had his wife cheat on him and the rebel leader she ran off with having burned his farm to the ground, goes far beyond any reasonable actions. That was before he made a deal with Mephisto to try and destroy Panther just because, murdered a child as a diversionary tactic, and started a race riot in Washington, D.C. while trying to manipulate Panther into accidentally killing his own ex-girlfriend. Since then, he's mostly limited himself to starving animals to death, torture, and just generally doing whatever will cause the most harm, taking sheer glee in his actions.

Planning to expand the Black Knife to America, Teodor is introduced torturing a man to death as slowly as he can, and later is seen getting ready to butcher dozens of his minions who were stealing some of his drugs, planning to cut them all up and ship them to their mothers in little baggies. Upon being investigated by more federal agents, Teodor captures them all and plans to feed them to his pet tiger, before betraying and trying to kill his American partner just for irritating him. Even in a comic featuring the world's greatest assassin Bullseye, Teodor stands out with his sadistically vile actions for a mere drug lord.
  • Captain America:
    • Red Skull, real name Johann Schmidt, is Cap's Arch-Enemy, and a Bastard Understudy to Adolf Hitler himself. Once a bitter, psychotic street kid, this eventual Diabolical Mastermind began as a petty criminal with a violent streak. After having his romantic advances rejected by a Jewish girl who'd been nice to him otherwise, Schmidt flew into a rage, killed her, and finding he liked murder, set out to commit it again. Convincing a friend to try and assassinate Hitler, Schmidt stepped in and saved Der Fuhrer's life. He then donned a Skull-shaped mask and took on the role of a grateful Hitler's spymaster. Trapped in suspended animation by Cap, Schmidt awakened in the modern era and resumed his old ways. Firmly convinced that Dystopia Justifies the Means and that everyone needs somebody to bully, Schmidt has committed every crime in the proverbial book, from the petty to the grandiose. He made several attempts at taking over the world through the use of the Cosmic Cube, killing thousands of people every time; attempted to transplant Adolf Hitler's brain into Captain America's body; tried to bodyjack Cap himself on several occasions; and fought The Kingpin for control of the New York drug trade. He has manipulated the Scarlet Witch as part of a plan to exterminate the world's mutant population; used his Dust of Death to gruesomely kill any subordinate who fails him or looks at him funny; and has been the mover and shaker behind countless Neo-Nazi movements, fascist governments, and terrorist cells, most notably Hydra and AIM. In an alternate future, he spent his time triggering natural disasters, then showing up to inform people that he would not be saving them. When his daughter, Sin, was born, Schmidt planned to kill her for the crime of being a girl; he continuously abuses her. While in a relationship with Mother Night, he brutalized her constantly. With an end goal of reducing society to its most primitive, dog-eat-dog levels, Schmidt is universally despised in both the superhero and supervillain communities.
    • Baron Heinrich Zemo was a Nazi Nobleman who joined the Nazi party after Germany lost World War I. During World War II, Heinrich committed several war crimes, such as strangling a Polish Freedom Fighter named Citizen V to death, and testing a Death Ray on a concentration camp inmate. He also captured and flayed the original Human Torch, recreating the Torch's power to help the Nazis win the war and used the Torch's powers to incinerate one of his own Nazi minions, just for kicks. Zemo also built a death ray, and when Nick Fury and his Howling Commandos tried to capture it, Zemo rigged it to explode, destroying a nearby German town. Zemo was once a loving father and husband, but a fight with Captain America left him disfigured and consumed with hatred for Captain America, and started beating his son and wife. Zemo even tried to shoot through his son Helmut to kill Captain America at one point, and was willing to kill his wife when she opposed him. Near the end of the war, Zemo tried to steal an experimental plane in England and rigged it to explode, seemingly killing Bucky Barnes and trapping Cap in suspended animation. After the war, Zemo fled to South America, hired a band of mercs and enslaved a remote South American native tribe. One day when the tribe rebelled, Zemo violently put down the rebellion and had all the ringleaders of the rebellion killed. When Captain America returned in modern times, Zemo enacted several revenge schemes, including creating Wonder Man in order to infiltrate the Avengers and stating that his powers will destroy him if Zemo doesn't give him an injection every week. He also kidnapped Cap's young friend Rick Jones and stuck him in a trap designed so that Captain America would kill him if he tried to free him.
    • Arnim Zola was a Nazi biochemist in his human years. To escape mortality, Zola used his cybernetic brilliance to digitize himself and survive inside robotic shells to continue his experiments. One of his worst acts was to create the monstrous Hate-Monger, and afterwards he continued to complete multiple experiments for the Red Skull, his usual employer and master. It is later shown that Zola was a monster just waiting to cut loose. When he and Captain America were lost in Dimension Z, Zola becomes its dictator, and its God. He inflicts horrible experiments among the people, overwriting their minds to be loyal to him alone, and turns others into horrible mutants that he sics on those who don't accept his rule. Even his own children there are nothing but pawns, his affection to them fake to manipulate them, and he is more than willing to kill them if they do not conform to his wishes. Zola, to end his long war with Captain America, created a way to get back to Earth, with a bomb that would kill countless innocents before Zola sent his mutants, with the intent of overwriting the minds of the people of earth and mutating others, a process that would kill billions.

  • Captain Marvel: Walker, or He Who Walks Beyond Life and Death Like a Colossus, from the May 2001 and June 2001 issues, was a death god of a distant galaxy who, seeking to impress Mistress Death, murdered every soul in his galaxy and entrapped them within him, in horrible torment. When Death was repulsed and turned from Walker, he decided to murder her out of spite, hunting her to Earth where he attempts to get her attention by killing people close to the current host of death, even resorting to Cold-Blooded Torture to draw her out. • Daredevil has fought several abhorrent monsters, but a few have gone the extra mile.
    • Besides The Kingpin, Daredevil's Arch-Enemy is Bullseye. One of the world's most talented, famous and feared assassins, Bullseye has revealed he rarely spends the money from his assassinations, preferring to kill because of the fun involved. Bullseye led a string of murders and assassinations that culminated in the death of his nemesis Daredevil's lover Elektra. Consumed with hatred after being defeated by Daredevil, Bullseye made it a mission to murder any of Daredevil's friends or loved ones, including his later girlfriend Karen Page. After Bullseye was killed by Daredevil and revived, he was rendered a paralyzed invalid in a metal case. In retaliation, Bullseye recruited several killers to his cause and began a systematic campaign to drive Matt insane by threatening the lives of his friends, lovers, ex-wife and anyone he held dear, proving that even being a cripple does nothing to stop his evil or his willingness and ability to destroy whatever Matt loves. When recruited by Norman Osborn, Bullseye took advantage of his position on the Dark Avengers to torment and kill innocents on a whim. Even when not on the job, Bullseye takes great glee in random acts of cruelty, from slaughtering an intersection of people—using mainly paper clips—to alleviate boredom, to starting a gang war that will lead to countless deaths just to bask in the suffering of others. Combining sadism with twisted narcissism and Lack of Empathy for anyone, Bullseye sets the standards of evil for hitmen in the Marvel-verse and serves as an inspiration to many of its killers and monsters.
    • The third Mister Fear, Larry Cranston, assumed the identity of Mister Fear after the deaths of the first two holders. A college rival of Matt's, Cranston resents Matt Murdock for having done better in law school than he did, and tries to ruin his life, using fear gas to induce panic attacks in his victims. Following his return in the 90s after a lengthy hiatus, Mister Fear III triggered a prison riot with his fear gas and escaped, leaving numerous dead. He also freed Serial Killer Charles Burroughs and supervillain Molten Man, and caused them to both go on rampages, while framing Karen Page, Matt's then Love Interest for murder to boot; he later executed Burroughs for "going off script". It was during Ed Brubaker's run, however, that Fear III showed just how low he could go. He provided Lily Lucca with a perfume that permanently altered her body chemistry the men around her to go insane and kill each other, promising to fix her if she aided him, despite there being no cure. He then used his fear gas to drive reformed supervillain Melvin Potter/Gladiator into a psychotic break, leading to the deaths of dozens after a rampage through Chinatown. While all this is going on, he takes the place of Milla Donovan—Matt's wife's—psychiatrist, and drives her into a paranoid breakdown, leaving her institutionalised. He discovered that he can use his fear gas, which he now secretes from his pores, to force women to sleep with him, something he does many times through the arc. Effectively impossible to punish, Mister Fear III was last seen in prison, forcing the other inmates to do his work, and raping a female prison guard.
    • Copperhead started off as Lawrence Chesney, son of a man who modeled for the cover of a pulp magazine called Copperhead. Lawrence's father felt the publishers cheated, so after his death Lawrence took the mantle of the Copperhead character and enacted his revenge. Copperhead began killing criminals and killed a cop who tried to stop him, but quickly establishes himself as a creepy Serial Killer, who puts pennies on the eyes of the victims he just killed. After Copperhead killed one of the publishers for revenge, he was stopped from killing the other publisher by Daredevil, and died while fighting him. Copperhead went to hell after he died and made a Deal with the Devil, returning to Earth as an undead lich. At this point, Copperhead, who lost any of his Knight Templar qualities or possible love for his father, and was fueled by a burning hatred of Daredevil, gathered other B-list Daredevil villains (Owl, Gladiator II, and Stilt-Man), and began a violent turf war with The Kingpin, which cost the lives of many people. Copperhead used those deaths as sacrifices to the Devil, gathering power from those deaths and using it transform part of New York into a version of Hell. Copperhead plans to sacrifice Dardevil and Spider-Man to open a portal to Hell and cause the downfall of mankind. Copperhead also torments his allies with nightmarish illusions, intending to do the same the rest of the world.
    • Coyote started off as a small time unnamed criminal, who volunteered for an experiment that would duplicate the powers of the Spot, a D-list teleporting Spider-Man villain. This experiment involved putting Spot into a contraption that causes him pain, in order to power the machine that gives Coyote his powers. Coyote uses his new powers to become a professional criminal contractor. He assassinates a drug lord by teleporting the blood out of his body. He is hired by a Middle Eastern warlord to open up a weapons supply route, which he does by teleporting a moving truck through a blocked off tunnel, killing several of the warlord's men in the process, just for kicks. Bullseye hires Coyote to mess with Daredevil, so Coyote plays mind games with Daredevil and tries to drive him insane, by teleporting his dead father's skull into his desk drawer. Daredevil soon discovers Coyote's most depraved scheme: Coyote manages to use his powers to remove people's heads without killing them, leaving their bodies intact and able to perform tasks. Coyote kidnaps several people and removes their heads, sending out these headless bodies to be slaves. The male bodies are sent off to perform manual labor, while the female bodies are sent out to be sex slaves. This process causes extreme pain to Coyote's victims. When Daredevil manages to free the slaves and Spot, Coyote's former victims want to get revenge and try to kill Coyote.
    • Muse is a deranged Serial Killer obsessed with sharing his "vision" of beauty with the whole world. First kidnapping over 100 innocent people, Muse strings them up and constantly drains them of their blood, leaving them near-death, and uses said blood to paint a giant mural in a public location. Later, after murdering close to a dozen Inhumans and posing their bodies, Muse kidnaps 4 people and plans to torture them to death, starting by lopping off one's ear, then captures Daredevil's sidekick, Blindspot, whose eyes he gouges out as a sick play on the young teen's name. Muse's lair is a nightmarish museum of depravity and agony, as it displays piles of skulls, heads on pikes, butchered corpses, and removed organs hanging from strings, all gathered throughout his months of murdering civilians. In the end, Muse tries to fatally wound his hundred blood-drained captives to distract Daredevil while he makes his escape, and, even when caught, refuses to show regret, empathy, or guilt for what his atrocities, displaying nothing but gleeful passion at how "artistic" his story has turned out to be.

    • (The) Master(s) of Doom by Mark Millar, Bryan Hitch, et al.: The Marquis of Death, originally one version of the brain-damaged Clyde Wyncham on an alternate Earth, discovered his love of slaughter after murdering dozens of heroes and villains when his mind was fully returned to him, and became dedicated to killing as many things as possible. First massacring every single one of the 7 billion people on his own Earth, the Marquis spent the next billion years traveling to various Earths then slowly exterminating all life on each and every one, always drawing out the deaths of heroes and forcing them into sadistic choices for his own sick amusement. Through this, the Marquis annihilates millions of universes and amasses an unfathomable body count before finally showing up on the 616 Earth, where he annihilates all of Latveria before viciously executing his loyal servant Doctor Doom for going too slow in destroying 616's heroes. The Marquis goes on to torment the Fantastic Four with the millions of versions of their loves ones he has murdered, then tries to manipulate Mr. Fantastic into compromising his morality for the life of his universe, after which he attempts to simply kill this Earth as well then continue his dimension-wide omnicide spree.
  • Ghost Rider:
    • Ebenezer Laughton, known as The Scarecrow, is a longstanding enemy of Ghost Rider. Originally trained as a contortionist, Laughton found a life of crime more exciting. Sinking further into madness and depravity, the Scarecrow began to target children as murder targets, the younger the better. He once gruesomely murdered a mother and her baby with his pitchfork. Afterwards, the Scarecrow attempted a "masterpiece" by creating a building out of human beings, stitching his victims together. Some where lucky enough to be already dead. Others weren't. When Ghost Rider confronted him, the Scarecrow attempted to blackmail him into avoiding a fight by stabbing the walls of the building, murdering the still living victim and threatening to kill more if Ghost Rider didn't surrender and let Scarecrow torture him to death.

Forty years later, a demon comes and gives her demonic powers, which she instantly abuses to kill a random couple and then kill a bunch of other children. When Ghost Rider investigates, Ripper becomes worried that he might steal her powers, so she sends a demon to kill him. Although the comic has multiple vicious cult leaders and serial killers, Ripper stands out by being the only one who's MO is primarily targeting children.
    • Zadkiel, the Arch-Enemy in the Jason Aaron series, is a truly monstrous excuse for an angel. The lord of the Black Host, Zadkiel was also the angel in charge of the Spirits of Vengeance and began to desire to use them to overthrow both God and humanity. Zadkiel subtly influenced the lives of Johnny Blaze and Dan Ketch, destroying those close to them to make them vulnerable to the Ghost Rider spirits. Zadkiel, as The Man Behind the Man, negotiated multiple deals with demons and other monsters on earth, allowing them to prey upon those they wished, while directing his other minions to murder multiple innocents in addition to those who could prove problematic—and everyone close to them as well. Even death brought no respite as Zadkiel showed a penchant for annihilating the souls of his defeated enemies. While manipulating Danny Ketch, Zadkiel showed no remorse slaughtering and torturing his angelic brethren until he finally had the powers of the Riders and banished Ketch and Blaze to earth to die in the apocalypse he would create. Zadkiel succeeded in conquering heaven and began to achieve omnipotence with his final goal to become the new God and then commence genocide on all of humanity and all other beings who didn't worship him.

After trying to murder Robbie's teacher, Eli then goes on a killing spree to avenge his own death. After Robbie takes his body back, Eli tries pushing him more and more to kill somebody, which would allow him to take over again. When that doesn't work Eli manipulates Gabe into jumping from a building, allowing Eli to form a similar connection with Gabe as he did with Robbie; this transforms Gabe into a monster and almost makes him kill Robbie. Eli also claims to be responsible for Gabe's condition, by pushing his mother from the stairs, trying to kill her, when she was pregnant. Once Robbie bonds with Eli permanently, he has to resort to hunting and killing worst kinds of murderers and rapists to feed Eli's thirst for blood and to keep the spirit away from hurting Gabe and other people he cares about; Eli just wants blood, not caring who it's from. Even Johnny Blaze, who had seen his share of monsters as the original Ghost Rider, was disgusted by this guy.

When Maestro sees a woman he fancies, he forces her to become his slave. The outside of his palace is littered with corpses of those who have defied or displeased the Maestro. The Maestro has his Secret Police patrol the streets, killing anyone who would oppose him. After the Maestro's forces have captured one of Rick Jones' rebels, the Maestro subjects the rebel to a machine which forcibly scans a person's mind, which puts him in a vegetative state. Afterwards, Maestro kills him with his own hands, because the rebel had insulted him earlier. When Rick Jones uses Dr. Doom's Time Machine to bring the Hulk to the future to defeat the Maestro, the Maestro takes one of his slave girls hostage to force Hulk to surrender to him. He then proceeds to paralyze the Hulk by breaking his neck and forces one of his slave girls to perform sexual acts on him without the Hulk's permission, all apparently for his own sick amusement. The Maestro also tells the Hulk he prefers his harem of slaves to his former wife Betty Ross, because his slaves don't talk back to him or have opinions of their own. Becoming a Corrupt Corporate Executive, Stane defeated Tony Stark in a corporate buyout, and engineered his psychological breakdown, reducing Tony to living on the streets as a homeless, alcoholic vagrant. When Tony returned as Iron Man, Stane wasted no time in kidnapping his friends and loved ones, going so far as to try and brainwash one of Tony's former girlfriends into becoming his lover, not out of interest, but to drive in the fact that he had won; he then set off a bomb at the Circuit Dome to kill Tony with no compunction about collateral damage. When Tony arrived to confront him, Stane revealed he'd set up a chamber with Tony's loved ones subject to receiving electric shocks should he take a step to free them, intending to force Tony to starve to death in the room. When Tony beat Stane's game, Stane played his last trump card: Tony would surrender or Stane would use his own suit to crush a baby's skull. Once beaten, Stane opted to hurt Tony and deny him victory the only way he could: suicide.

  • Micronauts: The original incarnation of Baron Karza is the truly monstrous dictator who has terrorized the Microverse for 1,000 years, and is the Arch-Enemy of the Micronauts. After a failed coup against the Homeworld royal family, Karza butchered the very monastery that saved him from his exile, using their secrets to return to Homeworld and institute his own tyrannical rule. Karza's first act after massacring the royal family was to create the Body Banks, a pit of machine horrors that he uses to butcher innocents, harvest their organs and body parts, then use said harvested parts to make himself and his followers nigh immortal, using the downtrodden of Homeworld and prisoners of war as subjects for the horrifying Banks. Taking sick glee in mass murder and genocide, Karza razes entire planets, sacrifices millions of people at a time to his Body Banks, and boils an entire race of sea people alive. To keep his forces ever-growing, Karza locks hundreds of women in impregnation machines, forcing them to give birth to thousands of babies Karza raises into his soldiers, the process driving the women insane. Though seemingly dying numerous times, often after trying to take countless innocents down with him, Karza always returns to continue his atrocities, and, in his final bout, Karza butchers the entire population of Homeworld, turning them into agony-stricken monstrosities solely to torment the Micronauts, and later attempts to doom the entire Microverse in one final attempt to save his own skin. Karza's crimes not limited to wide-scale, he also notably ruins the life of a young prince by framing him for attempted murder of his love, then by tricking his best friend into sacrificing her own legs to save the prince's love, all for his own amusement. A self-proclaimed "artist of atrocities" whose only desire in life is to be the most wicked being he can, Baron Karza was a shockingly vile villain for Marvel Comics in the era he originated from.

Dealing in many more crimes afterwards, Bushman returned to glory when he became the dictator of his home country of Burunda in a cruel dictatorship that killed millions, systematically exterminating everyone with AIDS within; killing his own men at the drop of a hat; taking advantage of his country's rich soil by having towns and villages wiped out—regardless if the populace can make it out—to build dope farms; and later slaughtering rebels with aplomb solely to get to Spector. Later trying to force Spector's friends to commit political assassinations to utterly humiliate and break Spector and aiding in an attempt to end the planet, Bushman was later brought back from his eventual death to lobotomize an entire asylum of patients to cause chaos all across the city, smugly admitting nothing matters to him more than seeing Spector broken before him.

Learning that the mystic basket that could expand his powers was in the possession of She-Hulk, Beatrice attempts to persuade her, and when his assistant hurts She-Hulk with his spirits, Beatrice punishes him by ripping his soul apart—not because of any standards, but because he needed She-Hulk to give the basket to him to harness its power. When thwarted, Shuma-Gorath later creates a facsimile of Earth and damages it to reflect the same damage to Earth itself, risking the lives of billions for fun. Later revealed as one of the Many-Angled Ones, Shuma-Gorath was responsible for the Cancerverse when, in a pact with that world's Captain Marvel, he and his brethren killed Death and converted the entire multiverse into twisted deathless abominations to worship him, seeking to spread his malevolent influence to Earth and consume it as well.
  • Sleepwalker: Cobweb is a demon that invades the minds of humans and drives them insane with his lies, all while plotting to invade and enslave the Earth, framing Sleepwalker in the process. Cobweb planned to have Sleepwalker's host, Rick Sheridan, cross the Despair Event Horizon and betray Sleepwalker, which would allow Cobweb to turn Rick into a portal to Earth and wreak destruction there. Since the denizens of the Mindscape don't need to devour people's minds to survive, Cobweb stands out as a monster amongst his own species.
  • Baron Wolfgang von Strucker, the Arch-Enemy of Nick Fury and the frequent enemy of Captain America, Iron Man, and The Avengers, has the dubious honor of being both a Nazi war criminal and an international terrorist as the leader of Hydra. A German noble who subscribed to racial superiority, Strucker achieved a high rank in the Death's Head and earned a personal enmity with Nick Fury himself. In a crowning moment of monstrosity on World War II, Strucker found a race of benevolent, empathic aliens that crashed near the small German town of Gruenstadt. To cover his tracks, Strucker killed the entire population of the town and planned to manipulate the aliens into providing him their technology. As head of Hydra, Strucker ordered countless terrorist attacks throughout the globe that claimed the lives of many, many innocent people, all the while secretly controlling S.H.I.E.L.D. through Life Model Decoys and playing his enemies to get many agents killed while Hydra continued its plans unabated. Strucker's ultimate goals are global domination and genocide of all "lower races", and he made many attempts at both. When informed his son Andreas had been murdered by Norman Osborn, Strucker's only response was that he owed Osborn a favor. He also killed his eldest son with the Death Spore Virus, which is just as awful as it sounds: it has bonded to Strucker's body and allows him to kill personally through his body. In addition, he was once The Dragon to Red Skull.

In this universe, when Mar-Vell got cancer, he performed an arcane ritual that killed Death itself and brought the Many Angled Ones their universe. When the Nova Corps tried to stop him from doing so, he killed all of them and proceeded to let the Many Angled Ones enslave every living being in the universe, turning them into hideous parodies. Mar-Vell's main goal is to unleash the Many Angled Ones upon many universes by killing the Avatar of Death, Thanos, destroying Death for good and leaving everything that exists as the slaves to him and his dark masters. To do this, he manipulates Adam Warlock's Evil Counterpart the Magus into detonating multiple inhabited worlds to open the gap between the universes and kills him when he learns the Magus hasn't located the Avatar of Death. In his search, he captures a number of heroes suspected to be the Avatar of Death and tortures them for the location of Thanos when he learns that they aren't. Having left all of his nobility behind, Lord Mar-Vell stands as a shockingly monstrous villain who will torture and kill to gain what he desires and overthrow the universe's natural order.
  • Villains from Thor's storylines:
    • The Mighty Thor: Malekith the Accursed is the cruel ruler of the dark elves of Svartalfheim, whom even his people hate and fear. Serving as the harbinger of Surtur, Malekith hunts for the Casket of Ancient Winters, murdering any who get in his way. Malekith in his spare time also hunts down goodhearted, virtuous people and devours their souls, as the souls of the virtuous are a delicacy for him. When he grows to hate Thor, Malekith is only too happy to sacrifice or torture his own people to get at the Thunder God. He unleashed the Casket of Ancient Winters to plunge Earth into a frozen wasteland to hurt Thor and unleash Surtur. Malekith plans to let Surtur burn every realm, with no care if his fellow Dark Elves are caught in the blaze, as long as he profits from it. Before his eventual return to the throne after he was revived, many Dark Elves viewed him as a despised figure. Later on, after being freed from imprisonment in Hel, Malekith set about to seize control of the Dark Elves, butchering any Dark Elf who wouldn't join him and calling for his followers to "burn the old, flay the young and bring me the eyes of those who will not see." Malekith killed Queen Alflysse, counting on the fear of his people to lead them to offer him the throne to stop his homicidal rampages. Not content with tormenting his own race, Malekith tried to drive Thor mad by infecting him with a mind-altering parasite to get him to destroy his own allies.

Cursed by a wise man to sail for a thousand years, Harald and his men arrive at New York as nigh-invincible zombies. Setting about to slaughter, pillage and rape all they find, Harald and his comrades turn New York into a near death camp—which, as this is MAX, we see in all its graphic gore—with Harald selecting the seat of his new throne built of human bones at the Empire State Building. When he faces Thor, Harald tries to humiliate the God and taunts him to go die a coward's death before casting him into the Hudson River. Despite only having a brief appearance, Harald marks himself as one of the most truly vile beings the God of Thunder has ever faced.
  • Thulsa Doom is a skull-headed fiend and dark sorcerer who has been plaguing the world since before Atlantis sunk. Concerned only with personal power and revenge at all times, Doom makes enemies with Kull The Conqueror upon attempting to break the will of his people by defeating their king in front of him. Seemingly destroyed, Doom returns time and time again while murdering whomever got in his way before eventually ousting Kull from his throne. As King of Valusia, Doom's tyranny leads to widespread torture, execution, and suffering, with soldiers once loyal to Kull forced to try and slay him as Doom threatened to murder their families, all while Doom secretly manipulated the denizens of an ancient, immortal city to fulfill a prophecy and trap Kull in their walls for all time, forever ripped from the reprieve of death. Defeated and then destroyed after Doom killed and impersonated King Felnar to goad Kull into one last battle, Doom is resurrected centuries later as a tenuous ally of Conan—with a previous project of his, a young boy Doom cursed to become an immortal cat for centuries after tricking him into killing his own master, factoring into the apocalypse—before betraying Conan and attempting to steal his life to fuel his immortality. Doom's final scheme, as nothing more than a detached skull, has him rallying the Serpent-Men under his command and conducting grisly Human Sacrifice to return to full power before Doom attempts to lead the Serpent-Men to conquer and destroy all humanity to reign supreme over the world. Endlessly persistent, endlessly vile, and with a streak of evil lasting centuries, Doom remained one of the greatest and most affecting foes of both Kull and Conan up to his final death.
  • Ultron, shortly after his activation, gained a malignant intelligence, came to the conclusion that morality was irrelevant and humanity was flawed, and sought to Kill All Humans and replace them with androids like himself. When any of his creations, like The Vision, reject him due to his monstrosity, Ultron wastes no time in trying to destroy them, and, when his surrogate son, Victor Mancha, tries to turn on him, Ultron mind-controls him into killing his friends, then murders his mother in front of him. Slaughtering the nation of Slorenia in Ultron Unlimited, Ultron uses the thousands of corpses to make a model of his own face large enough to see from space. Later taking over the Phalanx in Annihilation: Conquest, Ultron conquers the Kree Empire, murdering and torturing any who resist him, then plans to use his armada to destroy the Earth, just to spite his "father", Hank Pym. Returning in Rage of Ultron, Ultron conquers and assimilates the planet of Titan, uses it to lead an assualt on Earth, then tries to release billions of spores throughout the universe, which will transform all they infect into machines under Ultron's control. Following this, during which time he fuses with and corrupts Hank Pym, Ultron goes on a galaxy-wide massacre, slaughtering billions of innocents throughout the cosmos, leaving many species at near-extinction, then blaming the Earth for said massacres, knowing the surviving aliens will soon declare war on the Earth because of this. In numerous alternate timelines, such as in Age of Ultron, Ultron succeeds in taking over the world and killing off the human race, with his plans only being thwarted by the use of time travel. A fully self-aware being, Ultron uses many excuses to try to justify his actions, but all of Ultron's claims are consistently proven false by his needlessly sadistic and egomaniacal personality. The strongest creation of Hank Pym, the Arch-Enemy of The Avengers, and the slayer of thousands of innocents, Ultron is one of the most wicked villains the Marvel Universe has to offer.
  • Werewolf by Night: Belaric Marcosa was a shockingly dark villain for even a 70s Bronze Age Marvel horror series. In life, Marcosa lured victims to his manor to use dark sorcery to drive them into "lewd depravity" before he sucked their lives and souls out before having them murder one another for his amusement. He then kept their souls trapped in his manor. After his death, Marcosa had more victims lured to the manor so he could torture them as well, playing dark mind games and driving his victims to distrust and murder one another before revealing himself and attempting to add their souls to his collection.
  • Young Avengers: "Mother" is an interdimensional parasite that consumes her victims by drawing them in with the image of their deceased loved ones, particularly their parents. Mother assumes the form of the deceased mother of Hulkling, using her influence to assimilate the Avengers and thousands across New York to devour the Young Avengers before she's repelled as part of Loki's plots. In anger out of having been deceived, Mother decides to annihilate Earth and its entire reality as a warning to the rest of the multiverse, twisting Hulkling into a "throne" while he's alive and conscious and sending dark counterparts of the Young Avengers to destroy all they find.

Ultimate Universe (Earth-1610)

    Examples
  • This version of Reed "Mr. Fantastic" Richards, also known as the Maker, is a sociopathic, vindictive megalomaniac with a pathological desire to "save" humanity, regardless of how depraved or insane the methods might be. Though starting out as a seemingly-heroic figure, Reed slowly gives into his true personality of a homicidal creep seeking ultimate rule over reality. Kicking his villainy off by vaporizing his parents and child sisters, Reed later recuperates from initiating a failed alien invasion of Earth by creating the City and the Children of Tomorrow. Using his new "evolved" humanity as his personal soldiers and puppets while claiming benevolence, Reed has them begin absorbing entire cities before annihilating all of Washington, D.C. Slaughtering the entirety of Asgard and attempting the same on Tian, Reed eventually teams up with Kang to rewrite reality and take over time and space, all while planning to turn on Kang and change reality to his own wishes. After revealing his seeming redemption was faked, Reed destroys over sixty alternate Earths before trying once more to rewrite reality in his image, and now haunts Earth-616 with schemes of zombifying thousands of people. With a penchant for vivisection and torturous experimentation, Reed constantly boasts claims of good intentions, when, in reality, he is nothing but a petty child seeking adoration and power over all life.
  • Ultimate Fantastic Four: This version of Thanos retains the goals of his 616 counterpart, but none of the redeeming qualities. Ruler of the Endless Resurgence, he is a horrific tyrant—as well as a horrendously Abusive Parent—who runs his empire with an iron fist. Having come into contact with the Cosmic Cube, or Tesseract, long ago, Thanos tested it by killing countless innocents or leaving them literally frozen but eternally alive and aware. Thanos also allows himself to experience death at times, using the souls of many innocents to revive himself. Heading to Earth, Thanos intends on wiping out all he sees until he finds Reed and when he has the Tesseract and ultimate power, he plots on a universal-scale Mind Rape until every living thing is his slave, trapped in a deathless hell while death itself exists only for the tyrannical Thanos.
  • Mojo Adams, from Ultimate Spider-Man and Ultimate X Men, is a corrupt TV producer with a love for money and hatred for mutants. On Krakoa Island, Mojo hosts Hunt for Justice, a television program where criminal mutants are hunted down and killed for sport. Mojo arranges for all sorts of mutants to be thrown onto the island, regardless of their innocence or guilt, dragging out their deaths for better ratings. Mojo hopes to spread Hunt for Justice worldwide, and when the X-Men interfere with these plans, he captures and drives spikes through Angel's wings to torture him, and later tries to murder all of the X-Men while forcing Charles Xavier to watch, after which he plans to lobotomize him on live television.
  • Ultimate Spider-Man: Sgt. Wadey Wilson, better known as Deadpool, is a mutant-hating supremacist who seeks nothing less than the genocide of all mutantkind. Taking a job on the aforementioned Hunt for Justice simply for the chance to kill mutants over the weeks, Deadpool eventually captures the X-Men, as well as Spider-Man, on the flimsiest of charges and begins hunting them all down, extending the hunt just to torment his prey.Deadpool cares nothing for his fellow mutant hunters the Reavers, callously insulting and even murdering them if it suits his needs, and Deadpool reveals that he would prefer to systematically murder every mutant in the world in their sleep, but he is starring on Hunt for Justice so as to inspire other countries to follow his lead and eventually murder mutants like the "animals" they are. A far cry from his comedic, antiheroic mainstream counterpart, this Deadpool was a hate-filled lunatic who massacred countless mutants and wanted to wipe out the whole race just out of bigotry.
  • Ultimate X Men:
    • Apocalypse is an ancient mutant entity that contacts Nathaniel "(Mister) Sinister" Essex to be his herald and resurrect him. Apocalypse has Sinister murder 10 innocent mutants, leading to the deaths of several mutant children, and when Sinister seems to fail him, Apocalypse orders him to kill himself. Eventually resurrected by Sinister, Apocalypse lays waste to the city around him, killing many people in his path and taking control of the X-Men's bodies and forcing them to fight and kill each other. In the future where Apocalypse wins, he has wiped out most life on Earth, reducing the planet to a barren wasteland that he lords over. In his latest scheme to get resurrected, Apocalypse has Sinister hunt down and capture Alex Summers, leading Sinister to wipe out an entire mental hospital in Apocalypse's name.
    • The aforementioned Nathaniel Essex is a former Oscorp scientist turned street thug who is contacted by Apocalypse, and decides to ally with the godly mutant for power and glory. Gleefully murdering 10 innocent mutants to resurrect Apocalypse, often specifically targeting children and females because he likes the "sounds they make when they bleed", Sinister surrenders himself to Apocalypse's essence, fully aware of the mass murder Apocalypse has planned. Though seemingly reforming after Apocalypse's defeat, Sinister was merely biding his time, as he soon after begins planning to revive Apocalypse once more, notably strolling through a mental hospital and killing every living person inside by rapidly decomposing their bodies.
  • Ultimate Iron Man: Loni Stane is the true villain behind Obadiah Stane and Dolores. A sociopathic woman who uses everyone around her as stepping stones to more power, Loni orchestrates the murder of her own husband Zebediah, having him vertically ripped in half slowly out of sadism, and frames her former husband Howard Stark for it, who she then tries to have poisoned. Making a move to become an Arms Dealer, Loni plans to blow up an entire city with a nuclear weapon, killing her own son Obadiah in the process to eliminate suspicion from herself, and executes the terrorist she hired to help with this, Dolores. Later leaving Obadiah to die from poison gas while mocking him, Loni executes the teenage girl Nifara as well as her own henchmen to eliminate witnesses of her crimes, and then plans to murder Tony Stark while forcing his father Howard to watch, with Loni taking despicable joy from the pain she causes the whole while.

What If? series

    Examples
  • ...Age of Ultron: As in canon, Ultron is a genocidal and psychopathic machine obsessed with nothing less than the total annihilation of all organic life. Created by Hank Pym to be a protector of the Earth, Ultron quickly grew a god complex and proceeded to slaughter every man, woman, and child on Earth within a month, after which he drew out any rebels' defeats, taking sick glee in watching their hope slowly die and seeing them turn on one another. After successfully killing every living thing on the planet, Ultron allows his "father" Hank Pym to live, solely so that for the decades to come, he can brutally torture him, wipe his memory of the torture, then start all over again to slowly break his human spirit, all because he "can". Later learning of the multiverse, Ultron organizes full-scale wars on 4 alternate dimensions nearby , massacring everything in his path on 4 separate Earths. Ultron's final plan is to continue spreading his influence across every reality, hoping to eventually kill every living thing in the multiverse, uncaring that this plan could very well destroy reality itself. Continuing his streak of misanthropy and sadism displayed in many of his incarnations, this Ultron sticks out as one of his most depraved variations yet.
  • ...Annihilation: In an alternate telling in the Annihilation story arc, Annihilus continues his genocidal conquest of the universe into Earth, using his forces to destroy countless lives on Earth in the midst of the Civil War, engaging in a fierce war with the planet's heroes while slaughtering all he can. With the genocide of countless races already on his hands and the planned obliteration of everything but his native Negative Zone soon to follow, Annihilus bargains with The Inhumans to make his conquest of Earth under the promise of sparing them, completely intending on backstabbing and killing them all later.
  • ...Captain America Fought in the Civil War?: Colonel Buck "Bucky" Barnes is the seemingly kind commander of the Union regiment known as the "Redlegs", however his seemingly noble appearance is quickly shown to nothing but a mask. In truth, Barnes is a cruel sociopath who uses his position to organize the massacre of every man, woman, and child in defenseless towns in Confederacy territory, while claiming that said towns are Confederate hideouts, so as to loot all the money and treasure the townsfolk possess. When a lone soldier, Steve Rogers, refuses to kill three children on Barnes's orders, Barnes wastes no time in trying to kill the man, and, later learning that Rogers has taken up residence at a nearby Union base, Barnes orders everyone in the base slaughtered after his face is turned by magic into a white skull of death to represent his true personality. Even after his defeat, Barnes later escapes and reforms the Ku Klux Klan into a white supremacist terrorist group that, even decades later, continues Barnes's mass murdering agenda, regularly targeting highly-populated public buildings and dueling with any heroes in their way. Barnes, later known as White Skull, was a twisted composition of the canon Marvel characters James Bucky Barnes and the Red Skull, and obviously took far more personality cues from the latter, as evidenced by his homicidal greed and sadism.
  • ...Captain America Had Led An Army of Super Soldiers in World War II?: Red Skull, having been defeated while overseeing Nazi concentration camps, concocts one of his most diabolical schemes ever, as he changes his appearance to that of Steve Rogers, Captain America, then wipes out Cap's entire army unit. Disguised as Cap, Red Skull uses his status as a war hero to propel himself to the presidency, where he instantly begins stirring up racial conflict until he manages to institute a police state. Throwing all who don't serve him or fit into his view of a "perfect" human being into concentration camps to be brutally tortured and murdered, Red Skull guns down one of his own advisors for suggesting caution with their plan, and ultimately hopes to expand his new regime until the entire world is that of a pure, Aryan race.
  • ...Captain America Were Revived Today?: In a world where Captain America wasn't awakened from his frozen slumber in time, Red Skull was able to invade America and slaughter millions of people with his Nazi armies. Upon establishing the Fourth Reich, Skull subjects millions of people to horrific concentration camps and uses dozens of mutants and superheroes as experimental material to be taken apart and mutated, with their families being wiped out as well. When the rest of the world tries to temper Red Skull's conquest under threat of nuclear war, Red Skull gleefully kick-starts the war himself, using nuclear weapons to wipe out countless people across the Eastern countries of the world and leaving Russia and many other counties radiated wastelands. Upon learning that his old foe Captain America has returned, Red Skull forces a mind-controlled Hulk to slaughter Cap's forces, and ultimately guns down Spider-Man himself before dying.
  • ...Daredevil Lived in Feudal Japan?: The Giant Shogun, an adaptation of the canon character The Kingpin, is the massive, hedonistic boss of the Yakuza who simultaneously runs Japan through manipulating the Emperor. The Shogun regularly orders assassinations, forces innocents into slavery, and often blackmails warriors into doing his bidding, notably blinding the infant son of Old Devil to force him into servitude in exchange for the cure for the blindness. Forcing Old Devil to massacre an entire ship of Americans so as to allow one of his spies to steal weapons plans, the Shogun snaps his spy's neck when he fails, has the man's wife murdered, then begins transforming their child daughter Elektra into his personal killing machine, tormenting and raping her along the way. Years after murdering Old Devil, taunting him about the fact that there was never a cure for his son, Masahiro's, blindness, the Shogun poisons his Dragon Stick to prevent any power struggles, murders one of his own men to steal his horse when he comes under attack, and leaves the Emperor of Japan to die to cover his escape. When confronted by a now-grown Elektra and Masahiro, the Shogun orders them both be incapacitated by a marksman, wanting to draw their deaths out painfully in public later as a show of what happens to those who defy him. A sadistic, greedy scumbag who cares for no one but himself, the Giant Shogun was nowhere close to his counterpart the Kingpin in nobility, honor, or grace, substituting these for depravity and malice tenfold.
  • ...Dr. Strange Were a Disciple of Dormammu?: Dormammu, power-hungry as ever, orders his minion Baron Mordo to heal Doctor Strange's hands to make him indebted to Dormammu. Strange stays arrogant, but eventually loses his medical license due to malpractice, after which Mordo convinces Strange to become a servant of Dormammu. However, eventually Dormammu grows bored with Mordo and orders Strange to kill him. Dormammu is angered by Strange freeing his sister Umar, whom he imprisoned for being a threat to his ambitions. Dr. Strange and Dormammu confront the Ancient One and cabal of wizards he gathered to oppose Dormammu, killing most of them in the process. Strange and Dormammu then confront Eternity, the living embodiment of the universe itself. However, Dormammu betrays Strange and traps him a magic crystal, saying he needs a human lens to focus his attacks on Eternity, willing to kill Strange to attack Eternity. After Eternity is dead, Dormammu plans to use his power to remake the universe into a new Dark Dimension and then plunge the universe into chaos, so he can rule it with an iron first.
  • ...House of M: Red Skull takes advantage of Scarlet Witch wiping out all super powers to begin exterminating the now-weakened superhero population of the world. Upon murdering Reed Richards after failing to torture his wife and children in front of him, Red Skull orders his armies to wipe out all life in New York City to power up the Cosmic Cube with the life force of millions of innocents. Even when confronted by several non-powered heroes, Skull simply giddily orders his men to kill everything in sight—even each other—and proceeds to massacre hundreds of people on both sides of the conflict, laughing that once the Cosmic Cube is powered up he will use it to alter reality to one where he reigns supreme.
  • ...Infinity—Dark Reign: With the powers of the Infinity Gauntlet, Norman Osborn himself quickly highlights the disaster bred by merging a raging, narcissistic ego with the power to warp reality. Osborn quickly uses his powers to slaughter the Avengers and all the world's heroes, sparing an especially cruel fate for his arch-nemesis Peter Parker by forcing him to relive the moment where he killed Gwen Stacy for all time, while brainwashing the rest of the world to worship him. Although initially suggested Osborn does all of this to finally gain the approval of his father, Osborn voids any potential redemption he could take out of this by mind-washing and then vaporizing his own father in a paranoid fury, only concerned with slaking his own ego and making people love him on the basis of his monstrous accomplishments.
  • ...Tony Stark Was the Sorcerer Supreme?: As vile as ever, Dread Lord Dormammu breaks the monotony of ruling the Dark Dimension as a tyrant by attempting to invade and conquer Earth to feed off of its mystical energies. Dormammu exploits the desire of Doctor Strange—who, in this universe, never received the powers of the Sorcerer Supreme— to have his hands again, convincing him to sell out mankind in exchange for the use of his hands, "gifting" Strange his powers back by attaching a parasite to him that slowly and fatally drains away his life. Planning to simply leave Earth to be ravaged by the Mindless Ones once he's done with it, Dormammu is just as much a monster as he is in canon.
  • ...The X-Men Lost Inferno?: Similar to his canon counterpart, S'ym is a power-mad demon that wants to rule the multiverse. With the help of Madelyne Pryor, S'ym kills most of the X-Men and sacrifices Pryor's infant son to create a permanent gateway between Limbo and Earth. S'ym's demon hordes overrun the Earth, enslaving humanity and devouring those too weak to work. S'ym transforms Wolverine into a demonic monstrosity, even giving Wolverine a baby to devour, simply for his own amusement. S'ym also plans to use a machine being built by Dr. Doom and Reed Richards to open portals to other realities so that he can conquer them as well, wanting to extend his nightmarish rule to other worlds. S'ym manages to kill several other heroes who are trying to resist his rule and even kills Madelyne Pryor, not wanting to share power with her.

Other Marvel Continuities

    Examples
  • Age of Ultron vs. Marvel Zombies: An alternate version of Ultron serves as the main antagonist of this tie-in to Secret Wars (2015). Having come from an Earth where he successfully massacred the world's superheroes, then slowly exterminated all life on the planet, Ultron is pulled to Battleworld by Doctor Doom to sustain the planet's form. Growing tired of ruling over just his own world, Ultron makes an alliance with the Marvel Zombies to invade and slaughter the city of Salvation, then lower the Shield protecting the rest of Battleworld from the likes of Ultron and the Zombies. Ultron then plans to set the Zombies free to devour half of Battleworld while Ultron annihilates organics on the other half, leaving the planet a split apart boneyard devoid of all life but Ultron and the Zombies.
  • Amalgam Universe: Green Skull is a sociopathic billionaire who combines the ambition of Lex Luthor with the psychopathic ruthlessness of Red Skull. A war profiteer who initially attempted to prolong World War II for his own gain, Green Skull cut his losses at the end of the war, marrying and then later murdering Lois Lane when she attempted to steer Skull's daughter Selina away from his path of corruption, trying shortly after to have Washington and its populace blown up by his creation to plunge America into chaos and take over. Transformed due to the effects of Green K(ryptonite) while also becoming immortal, Green Skull has no compunction about who he has to crush to get his way, torturing Jimmy Olsen to near-death and having Bruce Wayne's parents murdered after founding HYDRA, even setting up a scheme that could potentially annihilate the entire planet in the event of his seeming death.
  • Anita Blake: The Laughing Corpse: Senora Dominga Salvador is a powerful voodoo priestess who has been taking souls and forcing them back into their dead bodies to stop the process of rotting, but at the cost of leaving the souls painfully aware of their situation. To prove her theory, she explains to Anita how she returned the soul to a zombie, then took it out to leave it to rot, then put it back into the body to see if it will stop decaying. Not only does she use these zombies to make money in a prostitution ring, she also plans to sell her knowledge to the highest bidder.
  • Captain America: Red Skull is just as monstrous in other continuities:
    • Batman & Captain America: Red Skull, here a high-ranking member of the Nazi regime, allies himself with The Joker in his latest plot for expanding the Third Reich. Having the Joker murder several innocents to assist in his own theft of an atomic bomb dubbed "Fat Boy," Red Skull casually poisons one of his own soldiers for questioning his orders, and later has the Joker slaughter a path into a military base. Betraying the Joker at this juncture, Red Skull boasts his plans to parade the Joker's broken body around as a trophy, and reveals his true master plan to drop Fat Boy onto Washington, D.C., then use the ensuing millions of casualties to pave the way for the Nazis to invade America. Even when his original plan is thwarted, Red Skull still attempts to drop Fat Boy miles out of Washington, gleefully proclaiming that the fallout will still kill countless innocents.
    • Cap Lives arc, by Dave Gibbons et al. note : In 1964, Captain America awakens to a United States where the Nazis won World War II and, once Adolf Hitler died, Red Skull became the leader of the Nazis (Herr Reichsfuehrer), and is thus dictator of the US. Skull shows Cap several television clips, including how the Nazis nuked Detroit and then killed "non-Aryan races and other deviants". Skull offers Cap a deal: Pledge allegiance to the new Reich (so the people will follow his example), and he can get anything—including "boys in costumes"; otherwise, Skull and the Nazis will use him for breeding purposes and medical experiments, before hanging him in Times Square. Cap escapes, and when one of Skull's soldiers isn't able to recapture him, Skull orders said colonel to shoot himself. Later on, there is the planned execution of a spy in Times Square. Cap saves the spy, but has to surrender, otherwise Skull will have his snipers kill hundreds of innocent people; the spy and a couple of Cap's allies seemingly escape, but Skull had wired the spy with explosives, which he then detonates, killing all three. Skull's ultimate plan is to use a Time Machine to conquer the entire world, across all time periods.
  • Batman/Daredevil: King of New York, by Alan Grant, Eduardo Barreto, et al.: In this crossover, the Scarecrow has been running guns for The Kingpin, from Gotham City to New York, but has his own agenda in mind. He hires Catwoman to gather information on Kingpin, seeming making plans to usurp Kingpin's position as New York's reigning crime lord. Daredevil and Batman team up to stop one of Scarecrow's trucks that was supposed to be delivering guns, but find it is full of bombs instead, with Scarecrow intending to kill Batman and Daredevil, along with the men driving the van. Scarecrow arrives in New York and uses his fear gas to force some of Kingpin's men to work for him. Scarecrow then begins a reign of terror having his men shoot up a restaurant, blow up a jewelry store, set fire to a night club and murder people in gangland killings. However, Daredevil and Batman soon discover Scarecrow's real plan: From the Statue of Liberty, Scarecrow plans to spread his fear gas across New York, leading to untold death and suffering.
  • Deadpool Pulp: In this pulp take on Deadpool, General Stryfe is a seemingly Reasonable Authority Figure who recruits Deadpool to recover a stolen nuclear weapon. It turns out Styfe himself masterminded the theft of the nuclear weapon and plans to use it to start World War III, nuking New York City so that the US will declare war on the USSR. Stryfe wants to turn the US into a military dictatorship and use US military might to dominate the world after the war ends. Stryfe was also the one responsible for torturing Deadpool and driving him insane. Stryfe did this in attempt to create soldiers who would only be loyal to him and succeeded with another solider, Cable, turning him into his personal mind-controlled slave.
  • The Eternal: In this 2003 Marvel Max miniseries based on the classic Marvel characters, Kurassus is the deranged second-in-command of the Eternal army, and sticks out as vile even when competing with The Celestials. A sexual sadist who happily follows the Celestials' plans in wiping out entire planets of species, Kurassus takes numerous females of whatever species he is currently annihilating to rape and brutally torture to death, invoking revulsion from most of the other Eternals. Expressing nothing but disgust and hatred for every species that isn't himself, Kurassus begins brutally murdering any of the Eternals who try to make their lovers have equal intelligence as themselves, in one notable case killing one Eternal's lover in front of him just to torment him. After nearly being killed by the leader of the Eternals, Ikaeden, Kurassus unleashes dozens of abominable aliens to slaughter any Eternals loyal to Ikaeden, while Kurassus himself severely damages the frontal lobe of Ikaeden's lover, Jeska, reducing her to a superstitious wreck terrified of all Eternals. Even when beaten by Ikaeden, Kurassus continues to taunt him about his lover's condition, and dies while cursing him and the rest of his kind for all eternity. Serving as an Expy of Satan himself, Kurassus's sadistic and warmongering personality made him the worst of the Eternals by a considerable margin.
  • Exiles: King Hyperion, real name Marcus Milton, is a vicious superhuman from a world that he tried to conquer, resulting in a massive nuclear suicide that left him the only being alive. Later attempting to conquer a new world, he instead allows it to die thanks to that world's Magneto's actions, betraying heroes and slipping through new worlds where he kills countless beings to conquer their lands. Arriving in a parallel New York, he tries to kill one hundred hostages after murdering all the heroes therein, betraying and slaughtering his own if it suits him. Returning at the Timebreakers' headquarters, Hyperion plans to conquer the multiverse, no matter how many he has to kill along the way.
  • Fury (MAX): Colonel Rudi Gagarin is a former Russian Special Forces officer and trainer who has known, and fought with, Nick Fury for several decades. Desiring nothing but war, which he absolutely loves, Gagarin manipulates General Makawao of Napoleon Island into starting a war with the United States, through such actions as renaming the island "The Peoples Republic of Napoleon Island". Later on, Makawao agrees to go on TV and admit the whole scheme in exchange for Fury and his 3 S.H.I.E.L.D. agents finding his daughters; Gagarin shoots and kills Makawao live on TV before he can admit anything. The US does indeed launch airstrikes against Napoleon Island, resulting in the deaths of nearly 1,000 people, about twice as many injuries, and the devastation of the island. In addition, while Fury himself is also a Blood Knight, there is a major difference between him and Gagarin: Fury is A Father to His Men and hates that the 3 agents got killed. Gagarin, on the other hand, when one of the Napoleon Island soldiers fails him, has Fuckface, who had been hideously deformed—including losing an eye—from a shark accident, rape him and snap his neck, threatening that this will be the fate of any others who let him down.
  • Killraven has this duo from Amazing Adventures Volume 2, issues 27-31:
    • Atalon the Fear Master is the administrator of the Death-Birth facility. Willingly selling out to the Martian regime, Atalon keeps countless slaves imprisoned where he forces them to breed, all so he may have the babies butchered and served to the tables of the Martian overlords, gloating frequently at his power over his slaves. Atalon intends to have one of the "Eves" slaughtered with her child by the evil Sacrificer, and when they escape, Atalon intends on hunting down and butchering them all, more concerned with the injury to his ego than anything else.
    • The aforementioned Sacrificer is a major figure at the Death-Birth facility. A twisted "artist" who views the slaughter and mutilation of others as his calling, the Sacrificer butchers countless children to feed the Martians and slaughters any in his path in the process. Wishing nothing more than to hurt and twist the flesh of others, the Sacrificer throws himself into the pursuit of Killraven and his comrades to torture them all as much as he wants.
  • Marvel 1602: Count Otto "The Handsome" von Doom is the narcissistic ruler of Latveria, Big Bad of this miniseries, and the ancestor of Victor Von Doom, but lacking any of the latter's positive qualities. Obsessed with his self-aggrandizement, Otto believes that his supposed genius and handsome face entitle him to world domination. Using the birthing pens he inherited from his father, Otto breeds up armies of brainwashed vulture flier assassins and craven dwarfed servants to do his bidding, keeps the crew of the Fantastick imprisoned in specially made prison cells, sends killers after Sir Nicholas Fury and Virginia Dare, and has Queen Elizabeth I murdered lest her agents beat his to the Templar treasure he covets. In the sequel, he murders his lover, Natasha, plots to sell Susan and Jonathan Storm to Numenor of Bensaylum and his cousin as sex slaves—after hypnotizing them into killing Richard Reed and Benjamin Grimm—and finally betrays Numenor, murdering him and sinking the city of Bensaylum beneath the waves. Utterly vain and innately treacherous, Count Otto and his ego left a trail of ruined lives in their wake.
  • Marvel 2099: John Herod is easily the worst of all the corporate leaders in this universe. After Doctor Doom conquers America and limits the power of the corporations, the corporate leaders turn to John Herod to kill Doom and return them to the old the status quo. Herod comes up with a counter offer: He will kill Doom for them, but only if they make him their leader. Herod also wants to strip mine the Earth and have all the corporate leaders relocate to Mars within 5 years, leaving the Earth an empty barren husk. When even the other corporate leaders balk at this plan, Herod threatens to kill them if they do not go along. Herod then launches a devastating campaign against Doom and his government. He attacks the White House and destroys Doom's floating city, Libera Cielo. However, Herod truly crosses the line when he kills everyone in Latveria with chemical weapons and sends a video tape of the Latverians dying to Doom, just to rub salt in Doom's wounds. Once Herod takes power, he takes measures to kill most of the remaining superheroes.
  • Old Man Logan: Even in this dark setting, the Maestro, a corrupt version of the Incredible Hulk from an alternate future, stands out as a particularly vile villain. Maestro arrives on Earth and takes over Hulk's brood of inbred children after Logan killed this world's version of Hulk. Maestro has the Hulk Gang take over a military base in the Yukon territories, killing all the guards there. Maestro also has one of the Hulk Gang, Billy Bob, killed for his incompetence. Maestro uses the base's resources to create several nuclear bombs. Maestro plans to use the Hulk Gang as suicide bombers and have them blow up several major cities, destroying most of humanity. Maestro promises the Hulk Gang they will survive the blasts, but that is a lie, they will die along with most of humanity so that Maestro can rule over a post-nuclear-holocaust world. After Maestro's genocidal scheme is foiled and he is confronted by Logan and Hawkeye, Maestro attempts to set off a nuke, to take out everyone in the area, out of spite. After that defeat, the Maestro reappears later, having conquered a small Northern Canadian town, where Maestro kills anyone who opposes him and turns the women of the town into his sex slaves.
  • The Razorline imprint, by Clive Barker, produced several nasty villains that threatened the Decamundi in its short run:
    • Ectokid: Ice Augustine is a lunatic killer operating for the Expurgatorious whose job description largely consists of maiming and torturing everything in his path—a job Ice takes pride in. Murdering the father of protagonist Dex Mungo under Expurgatorious order years before the main plot, Ice is later dispatched to find Dex himself, leaving a vast trail of victims and Dex's own friends tortured to death behind him. Ice later takes Dex's ailing mother hostage and demeans her, threatening to take her apart in front of Dex's eyes unless he surrenders and later gunning her down even after Dex gives up. Even in death, Ice's spirit continues to work towards the Expurgatorious's goal of the annihilation of all those who would oppose them, coercing Dex's father into coming back into their service by threatening Dex's life.
    • Hokum & Hex: Lord Felon Bale, one of the most powerful villainous forces in the Decamundi, is also the leader of a fanatical religion demanding constant worship, sacrifice, and the excision of all free will from his subjects. Bale has taken over countless planets in the name of spreading his "holy mercy" as far as it will go, while having his Blood Reapers murder innumerable "infidels" all across the cosmos to use their deaths to fuel the Sun-flower, creating ever more worlds for him to conquer. Bale sends his forces to conquer Earth and defeat the champion of Earth's god, Godkin Straith, heedless of civilian casualties, and even twists a Serial Killer into his monstrous emissary to purge all threats to him—including Bale's own son who reneged on his religion years ago—with an entire hospital full of sickly patients murdered in tribute to Bale's name.
    • Sir Sigmoid, from the "Sir Sigmoid's Arcardia" crossover event between Ectokid and Saint Sinner, is a voracious demon native to the Ectosphere that subsists on the souls of children. Sigmoid hosts a travelling carnival to lure the souls of children to his various attractions while mind-controlling any others who suit his fancy to come into his clutches, taking parts of the children's souls as payment for his services and eating them piece by piece until the children are devoured and kept trapped inside him for all eternity. Not content with simply taking apart and consuming the spirits of children, Sigmoid desires to be alive and tries to take the life of Dex Mungo to invade the real world by using Phillip Fetter's life as leverage, later twisting one of his consumed spirits to seduce Fetter after the two escape his clutches.
  • Squadron Supreme: John M'Butu, from the June and July 2006 issues by J. Michael Straczynski, is a metahuman general in Uganda who leads brutal purges of civilian populations, with rape and murder all too common. Allying with foreign interests to keep a civil war going, M'Butu initiates a genocide of rival tribes to strengthen himself and uses his Compelling Voice to control others, boasting he can use it to rape women or force men to die for him in the process.
  • Supreme Power:
    • Michael Redstone is a heinous Serial Killer who, after being granted superpowers, becomes one of the most evil villains the Squadron Supreme face. Even as a regular human being, Redstone's killing career began after he tortured his CO in the military for 5 hours before murdering her, just for being a woman. Following this up by becoming a murderer of prostitutes, Redstone is later experimented on by the government, who grant him superpowers. Using these powers, Redstone continues his spree, murdering several more women by ripping their limbs off and keeping them as trophies. When confronted by the hero Hyperion, Redstone flees while murdering everyone in his way, notably using a child as ammo to fling at Hyperion. After making a deal with the government, Redstone becomes a U.S. operative who is dropped into foreign countries with orders to kill as many people as possible to destabilize said countries, and, in his final appearance, Redstone holds Los Angeles hostage with a nuclear bomb, orders Hyperion to allow himself to be beaten to death lest the city be destroyed, and takes time during their duel to brutally murder innocents in various ways just to torment Hyperion. With no professed reason for his crimes beyond a love of killing, Michael Redstone was handily the most personal foe Hyperion ever faced.
    • Supreme Power: Nighthawk: Whiteface, real name Stephen Binst, the Big Bad of this Spinoff, is the most depraved man Nighthawk has ever fought against. Once a pharmacist who sought to "fill a hole of unhappiness" in his life, Whiteface developed a lethal drug that he planned to spread throughout Chicago, hoping that a massive bodycount would be enough to make him feel happy in life. Testing the compound on a poor woman and her family, he kills the entire household—including two children and a baby. Years later, having awaken from a catatonic state brought on by being assaulted, maimed, and possibly raped in prison for his deplorable crimes, Whiteface escapes confinement, kills and takes the outfit of a clown, then replaces a shipment of cocaine with his lethal drug, resulting in over 3,800 deaths of men, women, and children alike in just three days. Later poisoning the guests at a child's birthday party, resulting in numerous children's deaths, Whiteface then murders a crippled woman, a nurse, another man for his outfit, and kidnaps a baby. Traveling to a local water plant, brutally murdering 3 police officers along the way, Whiteface gleefully flings the kidnapped baby into the water processing unit, hoping for him to drown while he makes his escape from a recently-arrived Nighthawk. A sadist who believed mass murder would bring joy into his life, Whiteface, despite his lack of superpowers, stood out even among the likes of Redstone as a truly disgusting lunatic.

Please Add this example of King of Beasts to The Bible:

  • The tribe of Judah, progenitor of King David and his descendants, are represented by the image of a lion on their flag. Earlier on in Genesis, Jacob refers to Judah as a young lion.
