Requests for page history moves

This is the thread for requesting page moves when you want to preserve the page history.

A few rules:

• We do not handle wicks, indexes and custom titles here. If you ask for a page move, it's still your responsibility to handle these.
• We can't do page splits or mergers here.
• Please refrain from asking moves on pages with no useful history.
• The page mover tool requires that the destination page be nonexistent or cut. If you want to move a page to an existing redirect, please use the Cut List and ensure that the page is a Red Link before coming here.

~AudioSpeaks2 I can move it but keep in mind that we can only use the page mover if the target page doesn't exist on the wiki. I am going to cut it first in order to move the page history over. Moving a page manually and asking us to move it again make things a little harder for us.

The cut, and by extension the history move, can wait until all the wicks get migrated to the Website/ namespace.

Other than that, ok got it.

Ah I did the cut before I saw this post so I think I'll have to move forward with the move. You can still fix the wicks in the meantime.

This is as proposed on the Literature and ComicBook discussion pages a few days back, and the disambig thread here.

The comic page already has the disambig as a redirect, I'll just swap them.

Other subbages are either soft split, so will need to be disentangled, or don't have enough history to justify a move.

Please move the recently made WebAnimation.Musophobia 2012 to WebAnimation.Musophobia, as there's no other work with that name to warrant disambiguation (yet). The page creator has been informed, but can't get to mending this at the moment.

While examining some recap pages for possible fixes, I found two that needed to be moved (the episode numbers in each link were wrong):

So about a year or two ago under my previous account I moved DethroningMoment.Angry Joe to DethroningMoment.The Angry Joe Show, not realizing the page history would be lost in the process. Is there any way to recover it or is it too little too late?

Doing the page moves. I'm afraid that it's too late for the deleted history, but you can ask in Query Bugs or Query Wishlist I'd imagine.

If the new page name already exists as a redirect, can the page still be moved to it?

Or is it just simpler to swap original and redirect for that scenario?

The new page location can be cut right before the move.

Of course, if the new location has significant history itself, a swap a la the Other Wiki's procedure may be in order.

Can we move ComicBook.Hydra to Characters.Marvel Comics Hydra ?

There is no comic called Hydra, it's purely a faction/character page.

There's a separate Characters.Hydra page already, which we'll merge in after the move - but this one has a much longer change history and will have most of the "in general" examples.
