After momentarily losing his glasses, Gus finds himself much more popular with the other kids in school, causing him to adopt a new persona as "Guy."
Tropes:
- Acquired Situational Narcissism: Gus's ego really goes to his head as he becomes "Guy." He doesn't even care when he fails a paper because he wrote about green mints rather than Greek Myths.
- Armor-Piercing Question: "Who do you wanna be? Who?" This is Hector's question to Gus concerning whether he wants to remain the cool but "Scary Danger Man" Guy, or go back to being "Safety Man" Gus.
- Be Yourself: The take-away of the episode. Although Gus is more popular as the spectacle-less Guy, Hector gets him to realize it's better to be liked as himself than to endanger himself for the sake of popularity.
- Blind Without 'Em: After getting rid of his glasses, Gus has a number of mishaps due to his poor vision.
- He misreads an assignment about Greek Myths as "green mints" and gets an F.
- He gets an extremely unappetizing lunch that includes chocolate ice cream on spaghetti.
- He calls King Bob and his entourage "ladies." Fortunately, Bob finds him too cool to be punished.
- He nearly goes into the girl's bathroom, and still has a mishap in the boy's bathroom.
- Didn't Think This Through: At the end of the episode, Gus climbs onto the roof to get his glasses back, but becomes too scared when he's told to get down.
- The Glasses Gotta Go: Gus throws away his glasses in order to become popular.
- Look Both Ways: Gus and Hector are nearly hit by a car because Gus didn't notice it.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Hector gives one to Gus after they're nearly hit at a crosswalk.Hector: You yell at friends! You bump Hector! You cross street with no look! You not Safety Man!
