  • January 1: Trevor McPhee is returned to Earth by the aliens who abducted him on December 31, 1949. He wakes up in a ditch with no knowledge that a decade has passed. Trevor receives a lift from a man named Ray Carter. His wife Theresa is shocked to see him as she believes that he abandoned her ten years earlier. He thinks that he may have amnesia and is examined by Dr. Golden to determine what's wrong with him. That night, Trevor and Theresa have sex and their son Mark is conceived as a result. The aliens then abduct Trevor for the second time. (The Outer Limits (1995))

Its lone survivor, a man known only as "Jack", discovers a lighthouse with a bathysphere leading to Rapture, and battles his way through the war-torn city to confront Andrew Ryan, guided by the mysterious revolutionary Atlas.     • A strange power outage in the small suburb of Maple Street quickly escalates into violence and paranoia as neighbors turn on each other.     • The US government announces the existence of Doctor Manhattan, the world's first genuine superhero. (Watchmen)
  • April 4:
  • April 25: Birth of Sodom in the United States. He would grow up to become a self-styled samurai and gang leader. (Final Fight, Street Fighter Alpha)
  • April 27: Sam Beckett leaps into Tom McBride, a newlywed cop from New York, on the Honeymoon Express. He is there to prevent Tom and his wife Diane from being murdered by her ex-husband Roget. (Quantum Leap)
  • Spring: Peggy Sue Bodell from 1985 wakes up as her younger self during her senior year of high school. She attempts to change her own past. (Peggy Sue Got Married)
  • May 1: The U-2 spy plane, piloted by Gary Powers, is shot down over the Soviet Union. (Real Life) In 1995, the US Senator Oversight Committee wanted Sam Beckett to change history by preventing the plane from being shot down as proof that he could travel through time. (Quantum Leap)
  • June: Don and Patricia Carter are married. (The Twilight Zone (1959))
  • July 1: Rick Eliot is born. (Knots Landing)
  • Before July 13: Jack Hamilton challenges Robert Stoney to a televised debate on the topic of whether machines will ever be able to think. Stoney wins, but learns that Hamilton's wife is dying of cancer. He offers to cure her with Helen's futuristic technology, but Hamilton rebuffs him and tells him his wife would refuse, because they believe Stoney's inventions are satanic. Stoney tells Hamilton that he got his knowledge from time travelers, not demons, but Hamilton calls him a liar. That night, Helen returns to her own time, saying her work is done. ("Oracle")
  • July 13: Jack Hamilton's wife Joyce dies. The night after her funeral, he is visited by a version of himself from an Alternate Universe, who tells him that Robert Stoney was right after all, and that he can see Joyce again if he lets himself merge with his alternate self.   • December 11: A postal worker named Richard Pavlick prepares to assassinate President-elect John F. Kennedy with a Buick packed with dynamite. However, Pavlick doesn't carry out the plan after seeing that Kennedy is with his children; the Secret Service arrests Pavlick four days later. (Real Life)
    • Pavlick's plan is carried out, and Kennedy is killed. Vice President-elect Lyndon B. Johnson will later become President in Kennedy's place. (What if...? Armageddon 1962)
  • December 12: After stealing $40,000 from her boss and fleeing, secretary Marion Crane stops at Bates Motel, where she's stabbed to death by hotel owner Norman Bates. (Psycho)
  • December 23: Birth of Guile in the United States. He would grow up to become an officer of the United States Air Force. (Street Fighter II)
  • December 24: Alcoholic department store Santa Henry Corwin finds a magical sack that can magically produce real presents, and uses it to spread Christmas joy among the poor and downtrodden. In return for his selfless charity, Corwin's own wish comes true - he is chosen to be the new real Santa Claus. (The Twilight Zone: Night Of the Meek)

  • Peter Maza, a Hopi, leaves Arizona to seek a better life in New York City. He would become a police officer. (Gargoyles)
  • Birth of Preston Vogel. He would grow up to become the executive assistant of Halcyon Renard. Puck would also use him as a template for his persona of Owen Burnett. (Gargoyles)
  • A Nigerian nursing student fails her exams, is rejected by her lover, and throws herself into the Thames to commit suicide. She becomes the new host for the spirit of Mother Thames and ruler of the Rivers Of London, quickly forgetting her old identity. (Rivers of London)

  • B.J. Blazkowicz awakens from his vegetative state after 14 years. Over the next few weeks, he assists the remaining resistance members with systematically crippling Nazi operations across Europe, including the destruction of the London Monitor, culminating in a final confrontation with Deathshead. Deathshead is killed but Blazkowicz is left badly injured. (Wolfenstein: The New Order)
  • B.J. Blazkowicz awakens after a 5-month coma and helps the Resistance overthrow the Nazi American occupiers and their collaborator allies, including his own abusive father Rip Blazkowicz. He also briefly meets an ailing, senile Adolf Hitler while undercover at a propaganda film shoot. Rallying the surviving American Resistance members, Blazkowicz executes his old enemy Frau Engel, the acting leader of the occupation, on live TV, and inspires a massive overnight uprising against the Nazis.   • January 24: Sam Beckett leaps into Bobo, a chimpanzee who is about to be launched into space, in Cape Canaveral. He is there to prevent Bobo and another chimpanzee named Cory from dying due to unethical animal testing. (Quantum Leap)
  • February 14: Harry Warden kills the negligent foremen who left him to die in a cave-in. (My Bloody Valentine)
  • February 23: Mark Armstrong disappears. (The 4400)
  • February: A Martian spaceship lands on Earth in a remote part of the United States. Its sole occupant is an advance scout who was spent to determine whether the area is suitable for colonization. However, he learns that the Venusians have not only already done so but have intercepted the Martian fleet. (The Twilight Zone (1959))
  • March 2: Aliens make first contact with MiB agents. (Men in Black)
  • March 11: Kevin Burkhoff is born. (The 4400)
  • March 12: Angela Rienti suffers a severe brain injury in a car accident and is brought to the emergency ward of East Side Hospital. Due to his heavy workload, Dr. Kurt J. Lewis fails to get to her in time to relieve pressure and she dies. This leads Oliver Crangle to consider him a murderer. He writes numerous letters to East Side Hospital calling for Dr. Lewis to be discharged. (The Twilight Zone (1959))
  • March 17: Nathan Bridger is born. (SeaQuest DSV)
  • March: Karl Riemeck is shot while attempting to cross from East to West Berlin after his mistress compromises him. The mistress is also assassinated. Alec Leamas returns to London on the heels of this failure. (The Spy Who Came in from the Cold)
  • April 12: Carmen Sandiego time-travels to this date to stash the ACME Chronoskimmer aboard Yuri Gagarin's Vostok 1 rocket. Time-traveling ACME agents arrive afterwards to correct history, making sure Vostok 1 blasts off on schedule and recovering the stolen Chronoskimmer. (Carmen Sandiego's Great Chase Through Time)
  • April 14: Peter Corrigan is sent back in time to April 14, 1865 and tries to prevent the assassination of U.S. President Abraham Lincoln. (The Twilight Zone (1959))
  • April 17:
    • The Bay of Pigs invasion fails to overthrow Fidel Castro's Communist regime in Cuba. (Real Life)
    • CIA operative Alex Mason is captured while helping his comrades escape after a failed assassination mission. Castro hands him over to his new Soviet allies as a goodwill gesture. (Call of Duty: Black Ops)
    • A married pair of CIA operatives, Lech and Olga Oseransky, are captured in the aftermath of the invasion. The CIA fakes their deaths and their seven-year-old son Victor Ehrlich is told that they were killed in a car accident. He is raised by his aunt Charise. Lech and Olga are imprisoned on the Isle of Pines until the US government manages to negotiate their release in 1987. (St. Elsewhere)
  • April:
    • Joshua Rush is born. (Knots Landing)
    • A cantankerous old bachelor named Ed Lindsay hates television so he brings his old radio up from the basement of the boarding house where he lives. He begins to hear radio broadcasts from radio's heyday of the 1930s and 1940s such as Tommy Dorsey singing "I'm Getting Sentimental Over You", the Major Bowes Amateur Hour and The Fred Allen Show. However, no one else can hear that his ex-fiancée Vinnie Brown and Professor Ackerman are concerned that he is suffering from delusions. Vinnie thinks that it is all a product of his imagination as they used to the listen to those programs together and he regrets not marrying her when he had the chance. Ed is eventually sent back in time to 1940. He intends to do things right the second time around and marry Vinnie. (The Twilight Zone (1959))
  • May 5: Capt. Carl Bell of the United States Space Agency becomes the first man in space, a claim disputed by China and the USSR. Bell orbits the Earth in twelve minutes, seven seconds, but dies when his capsule, Defiance 7, makes a crash landing. (Fallout)
  • May 12: An automobile failure leaves Perry Como stranded temporarily in the town of Shamokin, Pennsylvania. While there (partially due to a deception by a band member), he watches the band Forever Plaid perform and gifts them a golden cardigan. (Forever Plaid)
  • May: Ben Song leaps into Michael Allison, a CIA agent tasked with rescuing an informant on the East Germans. He runs into Hannah Carson for the third time. (Quantum Leap (2022))
  • June 2: Colonel Archie Taylor bets Jamie Tennyson $500,000 that he can go one year without speaking. (The Twilight Zone (1959))
  • June 6: Sam Beckett leaps into Cameron "Cam" Wilson, a nerdy 17-year-old boy, in Los Angeles. He is there to prevent Cam's elder sister Cheryl from marrying Bob Thompson, who will become an abusive alcoholic. (Quantum Leap)
  • June 15:
    • On a visit to Smallville, Kansas, the Kryptonian Jor-El falls in love with Louise McCallum, Lana Lang's great-aunt. (Smallville)
    • Aperture Science's Test Shaft 09 is condemned and sealed off. (Portal 2)
  • June 17: Sheriff William Tate hires Lachlan Luthor to murder Jor-El (who is claiming to a drifter named Joe) and frame Dex McCallum for the crime so that he can have Dex's wife Louise to himself. However, Louise is killed in the crossfire and Jor-El escapes, returning to Krypton. (Smallville)
  • June 19:
    • Birth of Charlie/Nash in the United States. He would grow up to become a special forces officer. (Street Fighter Alpha)
    • Claudio Borghi disappears. (The 4400)
  • Early summer:
    • An angry crowd occupies a municipality council in Norway, and forces them to solve a problem with an out-dated bus and a kind and popular bus driver, to the benefit of everyone involved. (The Bus)
    • Scotty Smalls moves to LA and meets Benny Rodriguez and the rest of the Sandlot gang. (The Sandlot)
  • July 4: The Sandlot gang plays a night game under the Independence Day fireworks. Benny is the only one who takes the baseball seriously; everyone else is too awed by the fireworks. (The Sandlot)
  • After July 4: Scotty hits his stepfather's autographed Babe Ruth baseball into the Beast's yard. After several failed attempts to retrieve it, Benny pickles the Beast. (The Sandlot)
  • August 4: Sam Beckett leaps into a brothel owner named Gilbert LaBonte in New Orleans. He is there to prevent Gina from being murdered by her abusive husband Jake Dorleac. (Quantum Leap)
  • August 6: Sam Beckett leaps into Lester "Doc" Fuller, a minor league baseball player, in Galveston, Texas. He is there to prevent Doc from drinking himself to death and to ensure that another player named Chucky Myerwich reaches the Major Leagues and reunites with his estranged father Warren.   • Summer: Mary Richards visits Amsterdam. (The Mary Tyler Moore Show)
  • Fall: A resident of Hawkins, Indiana commits suicide. This is the most recent suicide in the town by November 1983. (Stranger Things)
  • September:
    • A false nuclear attack alarm leads to the complete disintegration of social bonds in a small suburb as blind fear brings every ugly thought and suppressed anger to the surface. (The Twilight Zone (1959): The Shelter'')
    • While searching for a source of food and water for his wagon train in 1847, Chris Horn is transported forward in time to New Mexico. While in the future, he learns that his eight-year-old son Christian, who is dying of pneumonia in his time, will grow up to become an expert in childhood diseases in California. Chris returns to 1847 with penicillin to cure Christian and the knowledge that the wagon train will reach its destination. (The Twilight Zone (1959))
  • October 13: Fox Mulder is born. (The X-Files)
  • October 16: Sam Beckett leaps into a secretary named Samantha Stormer in Detroit. This is his first leap into a woman. He is there to prevent Samantha's best friend and roommate Gloria Collins from committing suicide when her lover Buddy Wright refuses to divorce his wealthy wife Gail. Sam also has to deal with Buddy's constant sexual harassment and Al's attraction to Samantha. (Quantum Leap)
  • November 2: Ellen "Ellie" Pendleton is born. (The Twilight Zone (1985))
  • November 17: Superman rescues the crew of a space capsule that crash-landed in the sea on its return to Earth. (DC Comics)
  • December 11: Mister Mxyzptlk alters reality to make everyone on Earth forget about Superman. The world is returned to normal when Superman tricks Mxyzptlk into saying his name backwards, sending him back to the fifth dimension. (DC Comics)
  • Reed Richards, Susan and Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm embark on an unauthorized test flight in an experimental rocket. The rockets radiation shields fail in orbit, mutating the crew and giving them amazing superpowers.   • April: An alien race called the Kanamites arrive on Earth and usher in an era of peace and prosperity by using their technology to end war, famine and disease. However, a scant few people manage to decode the Kanamites' documents, and realizes that the aliens intend to use humans as a food source, with their seeming benevolence is just to keep their "livestock" healthy and happy. The people who volunteered to visit the Kanamite homeworld are first on the menu. (The Twilight Zone: To Serve Man).

  • June 3: After winning the bet to go one year without speaking, Jamie Tennyson demands $500,000 from Colonel Archie Taylor.   • June 25: Jason Bernaides prevents Janet Boyce, the woman who received a telepathic message from a flying saucer in 1957, from committing suicide. (X Minus One)

    • On the day of Kennedy's speech, Ben Song gets stuck in a time loop while trying to prevent the explosion of an experimental new nuclear reactor, sequentially leaping into Colonel Jack Parker, Eugene Wagner, Mallory Yang, Dr. Edwin Woolsey, and Moe Murphy. (Quantum Leap (2022))
  • October 8:
    • While playing baseball at the Greenspan School in Missoula, Montana, Jacob Clarke uses his Psychic Powers to guide the ball to him. The effort causes him to collapse. While he is in the hospital, an alien posing as a doctor appears to him and tells him that he must be careful using his powers as he will either burn them out or die if he uses them too much. (Taken)
    • Jesse Keys is abducted by the aliens while he is cycling through his home town of Bement, Illinois. They create an image of a carny that frightened him as a child. His attempts to escape the aliens on his bike are unsuccessful. (Taken)
  • October 10: U.S. President John F. Kennedy visits the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Research Center in Ohio to see the alien bodies found in Pine Lodge, Roswell, New Mexico in 1947. He gives Colonel Owen Crawford one month to prove that the aliens are a clear and present danger to the United States or he will shut the UFO project down. (Taken)
  • October 16: Jesse Keys visits his father Russell at Kennelworth Garage in Taylorville, Illinois and suggests that they take what they know about the aliens to the Air Force. (Taken)
  • October 18: Russell and Jesse Keys go to the Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah to tell Lt. Wiley, whose late father flew with Russell during World War II, that they have been abducted by aliens multiple times. Later that day, Russell has a seizure at a diner. The doctors at the base's hospital determine that Russell has an inoperable tumor in his frontal lobe. At Jesse's request, they perform the same tests on him and discover that he has an identical tumor. Russell and Jesse realize that the aliens placed implants in their brains to keep track of them.   • October 20: Colonel Owen Crawford, Major Howard Bowen and Major Marty Erickson interview Buddy and Susan Parker in Shasta, California about their abduction by the aliens. Although Crawford gives Russell his word, he has Jesse arrested as a spy, claiming that he received secret information from Lt.
