• January 2: Mr. Boseman introduces himself to Alex Winston as their new boss, who is filling in for Dave, the instructor who got drunk for days. • January 6: The Miami Dolphins win the AFC Championship for the 1984-85 season. (Real Life) Ray Finkle is one of the players who earns an AFC Championship ring. (Ace Ventura)

  • The San Francisco 49ers defeat the Miami Dolphins 38-16 in Super Bowl XIX. (Real Life)
  • [Alternate Universe] the San Francisco 49ers defeat the New York Jets 43-10 in Super Bowl XIX. (Sliders)
  • The Dolphins' loss is caused because placekicker Ray Finkle misses a 26-yard field goal to win the game due to Dan Marino not turning the football's laces out. Finkle becomes a scapegoat as a result, and the constant harassment makes him go crazy. (Ace Ventura)
• February 1: Sam Beckett leaps into a television reporter named Dylan Powell in San Francisco. He is there to prevent a police psychic named Tamlyn Matsuda from becoming the seventh victim of the Chinatown Strangler. (Quantum Leap)
• February 2: Complications arise when Tamlyn determines who Sam really is and the two fall for each other. (Quantum Leap)
• February 14: Sam saves Tamlyn from the Strangler, fulfilling his mission, and the two part ways when Sam leaps. (Quantum Leap)

• Before March:

• March 29: Hiker Lois Einhorn is last seen at the entrance of the Tampa State Park before she disappears. The search for her body would be called off six days later. (Ace Ventura)

• March-April: The Gathering occurs; the last Immortals face off seeking "the Prize". Connor MacLeod, one of the immortals, finds the time to romance forensic scientist Brenda Wyatt. (Highlander)
• April 5: Ray Finkle sees an article about the search for missing hiker Lois Einhorn being called off. (Ace Ventura)
• April 6: Ray Finkle escapes the mental institution he's been committed to. He assumes Lois Einhorn's identity and spends the next couple of years transitioning into a woman as part of an elaborate revenge plot against Dan Marino. (Ace Ventura)
• April 9: A new resistance called Disrupt is taking place across the nation. ^{If the Mr. Snugglehugs tape is played}Jeremy Donaldson and Megan Wolfe interview a family who got traumatized by the Mr. Snugglehugs toy that crippled their son.^{If the Mr. Snugglehugs tape is not played}Robyn Sharp interviews the Somerset-Bentleys on the formerly rich protestors and the Sportsboard game. Patrick Bannon hosts the Sportsboard game that is being invaded by naked protestors; and Megan interviews Julia Salisbury and Peter Clement in an interview that is being beset by an Easter Tuesday thunderstorm, which has put Alex into a coma at the end of the broadcast (they eventually survive a day later). • Before April 15: Ben Song leaps into Aleyda Ramirez, a public defender in Queens, New York. He's there to prevent an innocent teenager from going to jail for murder. • April 25: Sam Beckett leaps into the sex therapist Dr. Ruth Westheimer in Manhattan. He is there to ensure that Annie Wilkins takes action against her former boss Jonathan who is sexually harassing and stalking her and that Doug Bridges and Debbie Schaefer get back together. While she is in the Waiting Room, Dr. Ruth gives Al Calavacci advice on his relationship with Tina. (Quantum Leap)
• April 28: Humanity is wiped out in a nuclear war. ("There Will Come Soft Rains")
• April: Johnny Truant is accepted to a boarding school. (House of Leaves)
• Early May: Director of Whalestoe arranges for a meeting between Johnny and Pelafina Truant. (House of Leaves)
• May 4: Sam Beckett leaps into an actor named Kyle Hart, who plays Dr. Craig Connor in the soap opera Moments to Live, in Los Angeles. Soon after his arrival, he is kidnapped by an obsessed fan, Norma Jean Pilcher, and her husband Hank. He is there to ensure that Kyle escapes from the Pilchers without getting shot. (Quantum Leap)
• May 16: Oliver Queen is born. (Arrow)
• May 21: Johnny and Pelafina Truant meet for the first time in seven years. (House of Leaves)
• May:
  • Brett Waits and Bethany Sloane graduate college, marry, and try to have kids. (Dogma: A Screenplay)
  • Rick Derris, Roddy, Steve-Dave Pulasti, Walter Flanagan, and Shannon Hamilton graduate from North High School. (Mallrats, Clerks)
• Summer:
  • Homer Simpson, Seymour Skinner, Apu Nahasapeemapetilon and Clancy Wiggum form a barbershop quartet and become a surprise hit with their song "Baby On Board". Wiggum is replaced by Barney Gumble before the group goes mainstream for being "too Village People", and they choose the name The Be Sharps. Over the course of "five and a half weeks", The Be Sharps perform at the Statue Of Liberty (with President Ronald Reagan in attendance), put out their second album, Bigger Than Jesus, and win a Grammy at the 29th Grammy Awards. However, cracks begin to form as the group starts to become burned out on performing and touring, which is only made worse when Barney Gumble wants to change direction to avant-garde music. The group decides to disband when Entertainment Weekly puts them on the "Not" list for their "Hot Or Not" feature, with the members returning to their former careers and lives. • June 1: A party of adventurers from the World of Greyhawk travels to London, England, in search of the legendary Mace of St. Cuthbert — which is currently on display in the Victoria and Albert Museum. (Dungeons & Dragons ^module"The City Beyond the Gate" (Dragon #100))
• June 27: Disrupt are becoming increasingly popular, while Advance's popularity is waning. Jeremy and Megan interview world leaders that consist of Peter, Prime Minister Ivan Vodovich, and Prime Minister Bjerg, and ask them about Advance's declining popularity. However, Ivan makes remarks about sex jokes and Teeny Weenies, which gets these world leaders into a spat against each other. Later, rapper J-Zuss makes a performance of his own "The Villain Sucks" Rap against Advance and Peter Clement, only for Jeremy to have him arrested afterward before going into a tirade with Megan. For the third act, they make an interview with Geoff Algebra and the others on how they're making a modified play about modern life for Advance. However, not everyone seems to agree, as Jeremy is growing more and more concerned and troubled about Advance and their growing control over the nation. (Not for Broadcast — "Day 232: The Silence")
• June:
  • Charles Danville is murdered in Philadelphia. (Cold Case)
  • Huey Lewis and the News performs their new song "The Power of Love", which they wrote for some new movie, at Uncle Charlie's in Corte Madera, California. Doc Brown shows up to see the performance; while he's distracted in the club, some clubgoers steal his DeLorean time machine and go for a joyride. ("The Power of Love" music video^{Justification}Date taken from when the music video was filmed.)
  • Ray Finkle rents a car from Avis. It's the last time his credit card is used. (Ace Ventura)
• June 28-July 4: A secret Soviet experiment brings the Mind Flayer back to Hawkins, Indiana, where it seeks revenge on Eleven. The town's residents and animals are posessed and eventually absorbed/transformed into a horrific creature. This culminates in the Battle of Starcourt Mall, where Hopper disappears and Eleven loses her powers. (Stranger Things)
• July 13: The Live Aid concerts occur in London and Philadelphia. (Real Life)
  • At the London side of the event, Queen performs what is considered their greatest live set. (Real Life, Bohemian Rhapsody)
  • After stepping into the quantum leap accelerator in 2022, Dr. Ben Song leaps into Nick Rounder, a getaway driver for some thieves. Ben is there to prevent a man named Ryan from dying in a jewelry heist later that evening. (Quantum Leap (2022))
• July 24: Pelafina Truant becomes convinced that something has gone horribly wrong with Johnny, and the director of Whalestoe has been replaced by someone else. (House of Leaves)
• July - August: Johnny Truant spends the summer working in a fish canning factory. (House of Leaves)
• August 8: Ebenezer Wright has a heart attack. (St. Elsewhere)
• August 23: Pelafina Truant sinks into paranoia. (House of Leaves)
• August 30: A war is going on across the nation, blockades are set up, and a heatwave is getting almost everyone scorched, including Jeremy, who becomes increasingly agitated as he talks about various interviews from other people including Megan and Patrick Bannon; his own interview with three people with medical conditions; and sports involving Cute Kittens going underway. During the first act, he's growing more and more troubled about the heat and about Advance's tightening grip on the nation before thinking up a plan of his own.^spoilerDuring an interview in Act II, in which one of these three people, Brian Trueman, is getting arrested by Andy the Community Cohesion Officer for exposing Advance's hypocrisy and corruption, Jeremy decides he's had enough before taking the handgun from Andy and holding the entire newsroom at gunpoint. He quickly releases the three "medically conditioned" people from custody before telling Jenny to lock the door and demanding that Alex play a Disrupt ad tape that had been sent to them. Regardless of whether or not the tape is played, the final act of the National Nightly News can result in Jeremy's arrest or death (either by suicide or by security), depending on which moment Alex cuts to the ad and when to do it. • August:
  • Joe Young is murdered in Philadelphia. (Cold Case)
  • Ray Finkle's rental car is located abandoned in South Miami. (Ace Ventura)
• Summer:
  • Archeron Hades begins kidnapping and ransoming characters from works of fiction. Thursday Next pursues him into Jane Eyre to finally stop him. After 100 years of on-again-off-again war, British troops finally pull out of the Crimea and end the war with Russia. (Thursday Next, The Eyre Affair)
  • Gary Wallace vomits in his sock drawer and blames it on the dog. (Weird Science)
  • Geoff Algebra is wed by gay marriage to Norm de Plume, thereby taking the name of "Geoff de Plume". (Not for Broadcast)
• September 5: Pelafina Truant has taken to plugging her ears with candle wax. Johnny Truant has his orientation day at boarding school. (House of Leaves)
• September 6-13: Johnny Truant writes to Pelafina to tell her about his current situation. (House of Leaves)
• September 8: Penny Robinson is born. (Lost in Space)
• September 9: Hank Anderson is born. (Detroit: Become Human)
• September 14: Pelafina Truant becomes convinced that the director is censoring mail between her and Johnny. (House of Leaves)
• September 15: Future president Cristina Warren is born. (Detroit: Become Human)
• September 19:
  • Pelafina Truant has an orderly smuggle out her latest letter, but the orderly shows it to the directory anyway. (House of Leaves)
  • A major earthquake strikes Mexico City, killing at least 5,000 people and destroying hundreds of buildings. (Real Life) Juanita Ocampo's house is among the many destroyed. Her mother sends her to Boston as an exchange student. (St. Elsewhere)
• September 30: Pelafina Truant thinks receives a letter from Johnny and thinks she can escape Whalestoe. (House of Leaves)
• September:
  • International tensions escalate into World War III. Housewife Penny, having recently found a mysterious necklace that allows her to freeze time to escape from her stressful family life, is left with the decision to either spend the rest of her life in a frozen, silent world, or face nuclear annihilation with the rest of humanity. (The Twilight Zone: A Little Peace and Quiet).
  • Artist Lil' C pens a new song to be performed in a few months. ^spoilerAlso: State funeral of British newscaster Jeremy Robert Donaldson (if Alex allowed him to die on national television in Day 296). (Not for Broadcast)
• October 4: Whalestoe director has a serious discussion with Pelafina Truant about her letters and changes her medication. (House of Leaves)
• October 6: Roleric Schuck disappears. (The 4400)
• October 10: Pelafina Truant thinks the director and staff at Whalestoe are keeping Johnny's letters from her. (House of Leaves)
• October 11:
  • Tonight, a Comedian died in New York City; Edward Blake, AKA "The Comedian", is murdered. (Watchmen)
  • Pelafina Truant demands the director hand over the letters from Johnny he has (not) received and is (not) hoarding. (House of Leaves)
• October 25: Marty McFly is late for school after blowing out Doc Brown's giant amplifier. Later, he fails his school's Battle of the Bands, and is discouraged when Biff Tannen totals the family car. (Back to the Future)
• October 26:
  • In the wee hours, Marty McFly and his eccentric friend Doc Brown successfully use a DeLorean as a time machine. (Back to the Future)
  • Later in the morning, Doc Brown asks Marty McFly to help him in the future. They return to 1985 later that evening to find that the timeline has changed. (Back to the Future Part II)
  • Helen Sharp takes a magic potion granting her eternal youth. It doesn't go as planned. (Death Becomes Her)
• October 27:
  • In the wee hours, Doc and Marty depart 1985 to repair the damage done to the timeline. (Back to the Future Part II)
  • Later that morning, Marty McFly returns to his own time after an adventure in 1885. The DeLorean is destroyed, but Doc Brown shows up in a new time machine built out of a train. (Back to the Future Part III)
• October 30: John Crichton arrives in Florida in his own past, and discovers he has to prevent his father from leading the Challenger mission. (Farscape)

• November 1:
  • Pelafina Truant comes to realise the Whalestoe staff aren't hoarding Johnny's letters and advises Johnny to take no notice of his teachers. (House of Leaves)
  • Bian, a Vietnamese refugee, injects herself with Adrian Veidt's semen and becomes pregnant with a daughter, Trieu. (Watchmen (2019))
• November 2:
  • Janet Lambert is murdered in Philadelphia. (Cold Case)
  • Ozymandias teleports a gigantic squid with psionic powers onto New York City, killing over three million people and traumatizing millions more. Nevertheless, the world population is convinced that it is an accidental Alien Invasion, and US and Soviet leaders end the Cold War in order to confront this greater threat. At Karnak, Ozymandias’s Supervillain Lair in Anarctica, Doctor Manhattan kills Rorschach to prevent Rorschach from exposing Ozymandias’s plot and then leaves Earth to create life elsewhere. • November 10: Sam Beckett leaps into Joey DeNardo, a pianist in witness protection living under the pseudonym Chuck Danner, in Tularosa, New Mexico. He is there to prevent Joey and his old girlfriend Lorraine from being killed by a Mafia hit man. (Quantum Leap)
• November 13: Advance's war is now entering into its twentieth week. ^{Meanwhile (A)...}Jeremy is under custody by Advance and is now awaiting trial in 18 months (if Alex had him arrested by cutting to the ad earlier under Jenny's orders)^{Meanwhile (B)...}Jeremy's gravestone is decorated with graffiti in Disrupt's effort to honor him as their "first martyr" (if Alex allowed him to die on national television before cutting to the ad) Megan interviews Peter on how the war is going^{Spoiler 1}while Alan James makes comments on the progress of Disrupt and on Jeremy; later, Lil' C makes a performance of "These Babies Gonna Bring You Home" (a song she had written two months earlier); and Geoff Algebra de Plume introduces the audience to a new sitcom called The Noticeboard^{Spoiler 2}which gets interrupted by four nuclear bombs being detonated, wiping out their respective foreign cities and resulting in millions of deaths everywhere; Julia claims credibility for the attacks, as Advance have become a dictatorship that has declared total war on the world, threatening to destroy many more of its citizens unless the world surrenders. • November 18:
  • During the second quarter of a Monday Night Football game between the New York Giants and Washington Redskins^note now Commanders, Washington quarterback Joe Theismann suffers a gruesome fracture of his lower right leg after being hit by Lawrence Taylor.^note The hit was fully legal, and would be today, even with its stricter rules regarding contact with QBs.   • Six-year old Calvin and his pet tiger Hobbes embark on incredible adventures across time, space, and his parents backyard, facing aliens, dinosaurs, supervillains, and schoolyard bullies. (Calvin and Hobbes).
• November 29: Civilization as we know it is buried beneath junk mail. (Motel of the Mysteries)
• November: Bully victim Danny Hayes encounters a ghostly entity called The Shadow Man living under his bed. (The Twilight Zone: The Shadow Man)
• December 24: Peter Clement dies of liver failure at age 62, six weeks after Liberation Night.^SpoilerHowever, it would later be revealed that Julia Salisbury sent someone to poison Peter under the suspicion that he may have joined Disrupt's cause. (Not for Broadcast)
• December 24: Alcoholic department store Santa Henry Corwin finds a magical sack that can magically produce real presents, and uses it to spread Christmas joy among the poor and downtrodden. In return for his selfless charity, Corwin's own wish comes true - he is chosen to be the new real Santa Claus. (The Twilight Zone (1985))
• The Anti-Monitor, ruler of the Anti-Matter Universe, tries to destroy the multiverse. All alternate universes are collapsed into one, and he is defeated. Supergirl and The Flash (Barry Allen) die during the crisis. (DC Comics)
• The city of Briarwood, California, with the aid of the Mystic Realm, fights off a demonic invasion. (Power Rangers Mystic Force)
• Megatron creates the Stunticons to counter the Autobot's command of the roads. In response, Alpha Trion and the other Autobots create the Aerialbots to challenge the Decepticons' air superiority. (Transformers: Generation 1, cartoon continuity)
• The original X-Men (including a no-longer-dead Jean Grey) reunite to form the original X-Factor. (Marvel Comics)

• Daniel Carrington makes contact with a Maian ship. The aliens are impressed with his proposal of gradual, peaceful contact between their two species, and allow him to introduce Maian technology through his research and development company, the Carrington Institute. (Perfect Dark)
• Dio Brando awakens from his hundred year sleep, and having stolen the body of his stepbrother, Jonathan Joestar, his awakening also activates the innate powers (Stands) of the rest of the Joestar family over time. (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure)
• Ghoulies are brought back to the world alongside with their former master. (Ghoulies)

• Cyberdyne begins using remains of the Terminator to construct SkyNet. (Terminator 2: Judgment Day)
• Mike Nelson is visited by a robot from the future while working in a cheese factory, who advises him to pursue a musical career with his band Sex Factory rather than continue a path of temp jobs. Seconds later, a second robot from the future gets into an argument with the first and encourages Mike to keep being mediocre. The second robot leaves, while the first robot is left behind to get a job at the cheese factory. (Mystery Science Theater 3000: Time Chasers)
• Galatea, Mister Mystic, Elphin and Feral join the Champions. (Soon I Will Be Invincible)
• Rocky Balboa defeats Ivan Drago in boxing ring. Various complications afterward force him to retire. (Rocky IV and Rocky V)
• Secret Service agent Richard Chance's partner Jimmy Hart dies couple days before his retirement. (To Live and Die in L.A.)
• Street vigilante Casey Jones begin his activities, and encounters fellow crime fighter Raphael for the first time. A series of events involving the alien Utroms leads to the Ninja Turtles being hurled across the galaxy, encountering The Fugitoid and The Triceratons for the first time. Upon their return to Earth, the TCRI building is destroyed as the Utroms make their escape. Their creation, the mutant alligator Leatherhead, is accidentally left behind. • Birth of Daisy to Will Navidson and Karen Green. (House of Leaves)
• Becky Saunders persuades Carol Butcher to leave he abusive husband. Later that year, Becky marries Billy Butcher. (The Boys)
• Hal and Lois Nolastname are married. (Malcolm in the Middle)
• In France, Hellboy rescues a young woman from a cult, and then hunts down the demon that kidnapped her, Asmodeus. (Hellboy: The Bride of Hell)
• Bobby Hanes campaigns to buy out the Los Angeles Dodgers from the Schmidt Conglomerate, which has itself just purchased the team from the O'Malley family. Hanes' bid is approved by the National League. (The Man Who Brought the Dodgers Back to Brooklyn)
• Abigail Morgan leaves her immortal husband Henry, as she gets jitters about the fact that she's growing older and he's perpetually 35.^MoreBefore she can return to Henry, Abigail indirectly tips off the evil immortal Adam to the existence of another immortal, but commits suicide to protect Henry's secret when Adam threatens her. Adam spends the next 29 years searching for the other immortal. (Forever)
• Debbie was gonna be an actress. She was gonna be a star. She was gonna shake her ass on the hood of Whitesnake's car. Also, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna (way before Nirvana), there was U2 and Blondie, and music still on MTV. ("1985")
• New York is troubled by a new street gang led by the histrionic criminal Zed. The new graduates from Commandant Lassard's academy are sent to take the gang down. (Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment)
• The Losers Club confront IT in the sewers underneath Derry. In the ensuing fight, Edward is killed but William manages to finally destroy the monstrous creature for good by tearing out it's heart. Simultaneously, the worst storm in Maine history tears through Derry, destroying most of the town. In the aftermath of IT's destruction, the Losers Club finds most of their memories of IT, Derry and each other begin to fade, as well as the physical records kept by Michael in his journal. (IT)
• Earth is devastated by a nuclear war. The survivors and their descendants refer to it as the Total War. It takes 200 years for Earth to rebuild. (The Twilight Zone (1959))
• A terrorist group called the November Squad is responsible for the destruction of the Golden Gate Bridge and a massacre at the United Nations Building in New York City. These attacks lead to the declaration of martial law in the United States. The 1988 presidential election is postponed indefinitely due to the recently introduced restrictions on mass public gatherings with the US government essentially being run by the directors of the CIA, FBI and NSA as a troika. As such, the United States is well on its way to becoming a fascist state. (Replay)
