  • January 1:
    • After spending New Year's Eve at The Cross Hands, a local pub, Gary King, Steven Prince, Oliver Chamberlain and Peter Page convince their friend, Andy Knightley (who slept through the actual transition from '89 to '90) that he's been asleep for a year and it's 1991. Andy gets angry and punches a clock. (The World's End)
    • Trevor McPhee is returned to Earth after being abducted by the aliens for the fourth time. As before, ten years have passed and he has not aged a day. At 29, his son Mark is now four years older than he is. Trevor's ex-wife Theresa tells him that her second husband Ray Carter died of lung cancer in 1988 but that he recorded his theory about the cause of Trevor's time jumps on VHS before his death. Theresa hypnotizes Trevor to contact the alien being who has possessed his body and explains the concept of time to it. The aliens then return Trevor to his original time of January 1, 1950.   • February 3: Mitchell Bayes is murdered in Philadelphia. (Cold Case)
  • February: Bart Simpson, fed up with the constant harassment from local bully Nelson Muntz and his cronies, rallies the children of Springfield and trains them into a makeshift army with the help of war veterans Abraham "Grampa" Simpson and Herman Hermann. Muntz is dealt a humiliating, public defeat and agrees to sign an armistice treaty, reducing his bullying significantly. (The Simpsons: "Bart The General")

  • April 4: Honoka Yukishiro is born. (Futari wa Pretty Cure)
  • April 5: Advance confirms that the 20 Week War is to blame for the drop in birth-rates across the Territories. Meanwhile, it's also "Bring Your Daughter to Work Day", and Megan Wolfe is accompanied by her foster daughter Stacey, who has a tendency of bad-mouthing anyone. The Team Awards is underway, with many celebrities appearing on the red carpet, and their behavior there and whether or not how many more there will be depends on how Alex Winston fared years earlier. The Automated makes its premiere, and boy band HeatRash does a performance of "Pieces of My Heart". spoiler (Not for Broadcast — "Day 1975: The Sterility")
  • April 7: Mary Rutledge dies. (The 4400)
  • April 11:
    • Queen Maeve and three of her friends check into Doctor Peculiar's for drugs and lesbian sex. (The Boys)
    • Odile Goodman is born. (Star Cops)
  • April 29: Krusty the Clown is arrested and convicted of armed robbery. Bart Simpson discovers that Krusty was framed by his sidekick Sideshow Bob and Krusty is swiftly released. (The Simpsons: "Krusty Gets Busted")
  • April: Will Navidson moves his family to a house in Virginia and begins filming the project. (House of Leaves)
  • May 22: Nicki and Isabel Hoffman are born in Seattle, Washington. (American Girls Collection)
  • May: The night of the prom, Rene and Brodie share a motel room; Brodie asks Rene to sleep under the bed in case his mother walks in. (Mallrats)
  • June 13: Due to an accident on a secret U.S. military base, a human-made influenza virus spreads, causing a pandemic that wipes out approximately 99% of the population in a matter of weeks. (The Stand)
  • Early June: The Navidson family discovers that their house has obtained an extra door and is 3.2mm bigger on the inside. They call in Will's brother Tom, a professional builder, and Billy Reston, a professor of engineering, to investigate. (House of Leaves)
  • June 17: Katherine Hitchcock is born. (SeaQuest DSV)
  • June 22: Gary King and his four closest friends—Andy Knightley, Steven Prince, Oliver Chamberlain, and Peter Page—attempt the Golden Mile on the day of their graduation—an epic pub crawl in their hometown.more (The World's End)
  • June:
    • After six months in coma, East German communist Christiane Kerner awakes. Her son Alexander tries to conceal from her the fall of the Berlin Wall, in order to not give her another shock, which would be lethal for her. (Good Bye, Lenin!)
    • Heather Jones and Rene Mosier graduate from North High School while T.S. Quint, Brodie Bruce, Brandi Svenning, and Gwen Turner graduate from Henry Hudson High School. (Chasing Amy)
    • James Halliday and Ogden Morrow graduate from high school and move Gregarious Games to its first real office, a unit in a run-down strip mall. Morrow's girlfriend, Karen "Kira" Underwood, moves to America and joins the company as art director. (Ready Player One)
  • July 13: Birth of Soos Ramirez. (Gravity Falls)
  • Mid-July: By this time, Tom Navidson has left Virginia to get back to work. A mysterious hallway appears in the Navidson house. Chad and Daisy Navidson frighten their parents by exploring it. (House of Leaves)
  • Late July: Tom Navidson and Billy Retson return to the Navidson house to puzzle over the hallway. Tom installs a door with four different locks. (House of Leaves)

  • August 6: Sir Royston Merchant stages a takeover of Globelink News. (Drop the Dead Donkey)
  • August 11: The Navidsons' pets run into the hallway, end up outside the house. (House of Leaves)
  • Mid-September: Will Navidson brings in Holloway Roberts, Jed Leeder, and Wax Hook to investigate the hallway. (House of Leaves)
  • August 13: Sally Smedley joins Globelink News as a Newsreader. (Drop the Dead Donkey)
  • September 21: In Dexter, Oklahoma, Carl Jeppy forces Ronald Purnell, the son of his girlfriend Marcia Purnell, to drug and kidnap a seven-year-old boy named Billy Underwood. Jeppy later murders Billy and buries his body on his property. (The X-Files)
  • September 28: Holloway Roberts, Jed Leeder, and Wax Hook set out on their fourth exploration of the hallway. Roberts goes nuts and tries to kill the other two. (House of Leaves)
  • October 5: Will and Tom Navidson and Billy Retson enter the hallway to rescue the exploration team. (House of Leaves)
  • October 8: Tom Navidson rescues Billy Retson, Jed Leeder, and Wax Hook from the hallway, but Wax dies in the process. Will is trapped due to the staircase expanding. (House of Leaves)
  • October 10: Nagisa Misumi is born. (Futari wa Pretty Cure)
  • October 12: Will Navidson manages to escape the hallway. Everybody flees the house. more (House of Leaves)
  • Late October: Will Navidson leaves Karen Green for a while, allegedly to sort out some family affairs. In fact, he returns to the house. (House of Leaves)
  • October 31:
    • Noodle is born in Osaka, Japan. (Gorillaz)
    • Bart, Lisa, and Maggie Simpson spend Halloween night in their treehouse telling scary stories, including a reading of "The Raven". Though the kids are unaffected by the stories, Homer Simpson has listened in and is scared sleepless. (The Simpsons: "Treehouse Of Horror")
  • Early November: Karen Green begins editing and collating what footage of the house she has. Will Navidson takes samples from the hallway to a geological lab for analysis. (House of Leaves)
  • November 9: Rita Baxter is murdered in Philadelphia. (Cold Case)
  • November 17: The sheriff of Caledonia, Wisconsin discovers evidence of gruesome murders involving the removal of internal organs while serving an eviction warrant on Edward Skur, now the inhabitant of a dilapidated farm. He is attacked and forced to kill Skur in self-defence after Skur attacks him, but manages to catch Skur's final words: "Mulder." (The X-Files)
  • November 21-22: Special Agent Fox Mulder tries to interview Arthur Dale, now retired from the F.B.I, about his experiences with Edward Skur. Although Mulder initially receives a hostile, uncooperative response, Dale eventually relents and discusses the case, and the FBI's 'X-Files', with Mulder. (The X-Files)
  • November 23: Karen Green begins seeing Fowler again. (House of Leaves)
  • November 28: The SCP Foundation acquires a new item, and uses AMN-C227 as an amnestic on the local populace. (SCP Foundation)
  • December 25: David Platt is born. (Coronation Street)
  • December:
    • In Chicago, the large McCallister family hectically prepares for a Christmas vacation in Paris. Due to some family strife and a minor blackout that resets the alarm clocks, the youngest son Kevin is accidentally left home alone. During the days leading up to Christmas, Kevin learns to care for himself, and battles home invaders Harry and Marv, the so-called "Wet Bandits", with a little help from his neighbor, Old Man Marley. Meanwhile, his mother Kate fights tooth and nail to return home to her son despite the impassable holiday traffic. (Home Alone)
    • John McLane once again finds himself embroiled in an unexpected battle against criminals on Christmas Eve, this time the disgraced Colonel William Stuart, who hijacks the incoming air traffic at Dulles International Airport. (Die Hard 2)
  • Will Smith is sent to live with his aunt and uncle in Bel-Air. (The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air)
  • Killer spiders terrorize a small town. (Arachnophobia)
  • Giant subterranean worms terrorize a small town. (Tremors)
  • Peyton Westlake becomes Darkman. (Darkman)
  • Solid Snake joins the US Army and is sent to infiltrate western Iraq. (Metal Gear)
  • Storing organs indefinitely becomes possible. Organ banks set up to take organs donated by the recently deceased. (Known Space)
  • Kelly Bundy graduates high school. She gets her first job, playing "the slut" in a rock video. (Married... with Children)
  • Steve Rhoades leaves Marcy to become a park ranger at the Yosemite National Park, California. (Married... with Children)
  • Mad scientist Laurence Erhardt mysteriously vanishes. His former partner Clayton Forrester hires a former fast food worker known as TV's Frank to replace him. Meanwhile, Joel Robinson gives his robot Tom Servo a new voice. (Mystery Science Theater 3000: Rocketship X-M)
  • Acme Looniversity is founded by Bugs Bunny, with the faculty consisting of the classic Looney Tunes stars. (Tiny Toon Adventures)
  • Killer 7 defeats a large number of Rollout Heaven Smiles in France, but are themselves cut down by Samantha Sitbon. Harman Smith just manages to kill Samantha, who begins serving him as a maid. Killer 7 activities are suspended until Garcian can revive the other members. (killer7)
  • Following a botched attempt to assassinate Saddam Hussein, Special Operations Group Echo (Black Ops 9) is forced to go public. (Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn)
  • Command Keen battles the Vorticons. (Commander Keen)
  • Doctor Impossible creates his third Doomsday device, The Fungal Menace. (Soon I Will Be Invincible)
  • A new chief of police of Townsville is sworn in. The Powerpuff Girls attend the ceremony. (The Powerpuff Girls)
  • Holloway Roberts’s mapping expedition inside the Will Navidson house near Jamestown, Va. ends in a confirmed death and two disappearances. (House of Leaves)
  • In the timeline created by Minax's manipulations, Earth stands poised on the brink of a three-way nuclear war between America, Russia, and China. This may be the Avatar's home eraJustification. (Ultima II)
  • At Food City, a high school counselor begins a quest for the perfect egg carton. He is observed by employees Holden McNeil and Banky Edwards, who use the incident as a basis for a comic series. Around this time, a woman who manually masturbates caged animals for a living observes a similar incident at a supermarket. The two high school counselors are confirmed to be different people.   • The reactor on a nuclear submarine at the North Pole explodes, melting the ice cap and flooding Britain (and presumably other countries). (Disaster 1990!)
  • VHS copies of "The Five and a Half Minute Hallway" begin circulating. (House of Leaves)
  • The girl who will later be known as Vorona is born. (Durarara!!)
  • Hal Nolastname stops going to work on Friday. (Malcolm in the Middle)
  • James Bond is sent to investigate the destruction of a plane which was carrying several important people, and learns about an elusive organization calling themselves Children of the Last Days. (COLD)
  • Birth of Atuski Saijo, who would go on to become a member of FORT, and the other members of Kisaragi High School's Second Year Namely. (Lux-Pain)
  • Bobby Ewing and April Stevens are married. On their honeymoon in Paris, April is kidnapped and killed. (Dallas)
  • The Ghost is revived from suspended animation after 35 years. (The Flash (1990))
  • Kenny Li is born. (Supergirl (2015))
  • The Bronx is declared No Man's Land, and left to be ruled by criminal gangs. Soon after, the daughter of a MegaCorp's late president runs away to the area, and is protected from bounty hunters by one of the criminals. (1990: The Bronx Warriors)
  • Mariluz Santiago is born in Mexico. (Designated Survivor)
  • Time traveller James Cole tries to warn everybody about an apocalyptic plague coming in 1996, but is committed to a mental institution until his handlers bring him back to the future. (12 Monkeys)
  • Benedict Summerfield I is born. (Bernice Summerfield)
  • Three-year-olds Adam Rove and Grace Polk become friends. (Joan of Arcadia)
  • Lex Luthor plants an explosive device in the Sun, causing it to turn from yellow to red. Deadly waves of red radiation are emitted but Superman manages to convert them to harmless yellow rays before they can devastate Earth. However, his exposure to the red radiation causes him to rapidly age in appearance. This was Luthor's plan all along as he sought revenge for Superboy causing his hair to fall out when he was a teenager. (DC Comics)
  • Bobby Coleman is born. (Farscape)
  • Earth-Trisolaris Movement formally begins on a ship owned by Mike Evans. Evans provides financial backing, and Ye Wenjie serves as commander in chief. (The Three-Body Problem)
  • Garrett Gates breaks into Nevermore Academy on the night of the Rave'n Dance, and falls to his death from an exterior balcony with a stab wound in his chest. Gomez Addams, who was standing on the balcony with a sword, is accused of his murder, but the charges are dropped Spoilers. (Wednesday)
  • Firefighter Penny Morris, originally from Newtown, pays a visit to the Pontypandy Fire Station for the first time. She would later transfer there permanently. (Fireman Sam)

     1991 
  • January 5: James Horton gets a promotion in the Watchers' hierarchy. He becomes the Regional Coordinator of the United States Northwest. (Highlander: The Series, Watcher Chronicles CD-ROM)
  • February 9: US forces in Iraq use a mutant strain of necrotising fasciitis against Kurds. Emma Paris is the only survivor, and suffers serious facial scarring. To avoid scandal, Saddam Hussein forces America to withdraw. (Black Light)
  • Before February 28: Marcus Olsen is killed in the Gulf War. (Supergirl (2015))
  • February: Jared Svenning televises the disastrous Monmouth Governor's Ball, which is his last public offering before "Truth Or Date" the following year. (The Mallrats novelization.note )
  • March 7: June Mary Crawford is born. (Play for Tomorrow)
  • Before March 8: The Teller family, consisting of Edgar, Marilyn, Syndi and Marshall, move from New Jersey to Eerie, Indiana. (Eerie, Indiana)
  • March 8: Marshall Teller and Simon Holmes take a plaster cast mould of a Bigfoot footprint in Walter Funks' backyard in Eerie, Indiana. (Eerie, Indiana)
  • March 30: Test results on the material of the house indicate it is as old as the solar system. (House of Leaves)
  • March 31: Billy Reston advises Will Navidson to let other people explore the house. Will agrees, and the two get massively drunk. (House of Leaves)
  • ca. March: Shortly after the end of the Gulf War, Luke Watson is killed when he drives his truck over a mine. (Taken)
  • April 1: Will Navidson sets off on the fifth exploration of the hallway, leaving a letter for Karen Green. (House of Leaves)
  • April 2: Will Navidson discovers he is headed downhill no matter which direction he goes. (House of Leaves)
  • April 9: Karen Green returns to the house on Ash Tree Lane, but stops to talk to Alicia Rosenbaum first. That evening, the two go to the house. (House of Leaves)
  • April 10: Karen Green and Alicia Rosenbaum return to the house during the day to try and find Will Navidson. They discover the mysterious hallway has vanished. (House of Leaves)
  • April 13/14: Will Navidson reaches the abyss. (House of Leaves)
  • Mid-April: Karen Green begins living in the house and continuing to search for Will Navidson. Alicia Rosenbaum brings in several prospective buyers, but Karen refuses to sell. (House of Leaves)
  • April: Dante Hicks and Caitlin Bree break up. Caitlin will go on to have a serious relationship with Sang, an Asian design major, whom her mother loves. (Clerks)
  • May: Bart Simpson, Milhouse Van Houten and Martin Prince pool their money to purchase a copy of the rare comic book Radioactive Man #1, but quickly spiral into paranoia over ownership of the book. The comic book is destroyed in a storm and the boys reconcile. (The Simpsons: "Three Men And a Comic Book")
  • May 2: Doc Brown allows some tourists to tour his Institute of Future Technology. The Biff Tannen from 1955 manages to steal a DeLorean and go for a joyride; Doc sends the tourists after him in an 8-passenger DeLorean. (Back to the Future: The Ride)
  • May 4: Karen Green hears Will Navidson's voice somewhere in the house. (House of Leaves)
  • May 9: first recorded case of SCP-3553 note (SCP Foundation)

  • August 6: The World Wide Web goes public. (Real Life) The internet becomes all about robbing people of their privacy. (Futurama)
  • August 9: Max Paradys and Albert Starski enter suspended animation. They are supposed to awaken in 1994 but do not do so until March 8, 2044. (Sex Mission)
  • August:
    • Karen Green assembles a tape of reactions to "Exploration #4". (House of Leaves)
    • Homer Simpson discovers that he has a long-lost half-brother - Herb Powell, a self-made man and car manufacturer. While the two siblings initially bond, Herb makes the mistake of hiring Homer to help design his company's new flagship car, thinking that Homer, being an average American man, will create a design that rivals the popular Japanese brands. The resulting car is a disaster and bankrupts Powell Motors, and Herb blames Homer, disowning him. (The Simpsons: "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?")
    • The Earth ship Pilgrim I containing 113 people lands on the planet V9-Gamma. (The Twilight Zone (1959))
  • September 1: Harry Potter begins his first year at Hogwarts. (Harry Potter)
  • October 15:
    • Due to shop owner Leland Gaunt's machinations, violence breaks out in a Maine small town, Castle Rock, eventually destroying most of the town. (Needful Things)
    • Sophons One and Two reach Earth and begin screwing with particle accelerators. Justification(The Three-Body Problem)
  • October 31:
  • Between November 1-9: While skateboarding in the street in Eerie, Indiana, Devon Wilde is run over by a milk truck and killed. His heart is transplanted into his crush Melanie Monroe, who begins acting like him shortly afterwards. (Eerie, Indiana)
  • November 10: During a clearance sale at the Eerie Public Library, Marshall Teller finds an old letter addressed to Mary B. Carter. It was written by Tripp McConnell, who was about to deliver it to her house on November 9, 1929 when he was hit by a milk truck and killed. Tripp's ghost appears to Marshall and eventually persuades him to deliver the letter to Mary, albeit 62 years late. Although Mary believes that it is a prank at first, Marshall successfully convinces her that he is telling the truth on his second attempt at delivering the letter. He and Simon Holmes bring Mary to the World O'Stuff where she is reunited with Tripp. The next morning, Mary dies of heart failure and happily joins Tripp in the afterlife. (Eerie, Indiana)
  • November 11: Koriand'r is born on Tamaran. (Titans (2018))

  • December 23: What once was the National Nightly News has now devolved into The Nightly Show, with Megan joined by Robyn Shorte and Not-Patrick. The show goes into segments of "Pet Corner", "Into the Kitchen" with Jordan Rankly, and the "Visions of the Future" competition with its winners being announced; the second part goes into segments of "Wheel of Truth" (a game show hosted by a very special guest) and "Crafty Corner" (in which Megan shows the viewers how to make their own Leaders' Day gifts).   • December 25:
    • Harry Potter receives his father's Invisibility Cloak as a Christmas present. That night, he discovers the Mirror of Erised. (Harry Potter)
    • The USSR adopts numerous reforms while remaining fundamentally communistic. (Chrononauts)
    • Billy Lenz, having snapped from witnessing his mother kill his father, getting locked in an attic for years to keep the secret, and being raped to bear his sister, murders his mother and stepfather and disfigures his sister. He is promptly committed to an asylum. (Black Christmas (2006))
  • December 28: Miami, Hawaii and (possibly) many other cities in the USA are nuked as the presidents of Russia and the USA are killed by a terrorist organization. (Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number)
  • Mysterious people from the future come and claim that they can get rid of Godzilla once and for all. It is later revealed however, that they wish to destroy Tokyo since it somehow becomes a economic superpower in the future. Godzilla appears, now larger and more powerful than ever before, and faces off against a new enemy, King Ghidorah. (Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah)
  • Albert Wesker officially resigns from Umbrella and infiltrates the Raccoon City Police Department, working instead as an undercover agent. (Resident Evil)
  • Dante Hicks and Randal Graves lock themselves in a freezer at Quick Stop for a second time. (Clerks: The Animated Series)
  • William Birkin assigned a new lab to develop the G-virus. (Resident Evil 2)
  • First appearance of Deadpool. (Marvel Comics)
  • New Mutants become X-Force. (Marvel Comics)
  • Waverider travels back from the future to try and avert the rise of Monarch, but only partially succeeds. (DC Comics)
  • Complex Corporation purchases Mooby, The Golden Calf, and goes into production on the Mooby Fun-Time Hour, which spanws 16 records, two feature films, eight prime-time specials, a library of priced-to-own videos, bicoastal theme parks dubbed "MoobyWorld", and Mooby Magazine. Former Angel of Death Loki starts to plot the death of the executives of the corporation for idolatry. (Dogma)
  • The various godly pantheons go to war. (DC Comics)
  • Thanos acquires the Infinity Gems and kills half the universe to please death. The remaining heroes join forces to stop him and reverse what he's done. (Marvel Comics)
  • Brodie Bruce loses all ambition in life and engulfs himself into the world of comics and video games, which affects his relationship with his girlfriend, Rene Mosier. (Mallrats)
  • Human detective Matthew Sykes and Newcomer detective Sam Francisco team up to bust a Newcomer crime syndicate. (Alien Nation)
  • Michael Edwards recovers the artifact from the Forbidden City and delivers it to Edward Roivas. (Eternal Darkness)
  • Slacker Jeff "The Dude" Lebowski gets involved in the kidnapping of the wife of millionaire Jeffrey Lebowski. (The Big Lebowski)
  • A physics teacher and amateur pilot named Nick Miller invents time travel by hooking a Commodore 64 to his plane. He immediately sells this technology to a transparently evil company. (Time Chasers)
  • A physics teacher and amateur pilot named Nick Miller, after a very busy few days, destroys all of his research into time travel. (Time Chasers)
  • The time-traveling rebel Charles "Chuck" DeNomolos attempts to change the future by sending robot duplicates of Bill S. Preston Esq. and Ted "Theodore" Logan to kill and replace them. However, Bill and Ted return from the dead and defeat the robots and DeNomolos; ironically, his actions ensure that the world becomes aware of Bill and Ted's band Wyld Stallyns and their epic music, eventually creating the very utopia he rebelled against in the first place.   • Marcy gets drunk and wakes up married. Her new husband is Jefferson Milhouse D'Arcy, a former swindler and gigolo. She doesn't particularly like the sound of Marcy D'Arcy. (Married... with Children)
