Assassins

Assassins have abilities within their primary skill kit that allows them to close the distance to their targets and eliminate them with high burst damage. Most, but not all, Assassins have relatively low hit points and rely on their skills to stay alive and get out of hairy situations - but not being dealt with, they can destroy the backline of an enemy team single handedly. Assassins are strong against Marksmen and Artillery and have a huge potential to carry the team on their backs, but they are hard countered by Tanks and need to be wary of Damage Dealers.

"Stand back! Trained professional here."
Buzz is the lifeguard at the Velocirapids water park and a real stickler for the rules. He clearly enjoys wielding the tiny bit of authority he has to the greatest degree possible.

A Mythic Brawler, and part of the currently incomplete Velocirapids trio along with Doug. He is a lifeguard in Starr Park's water park with an enthusiasm for saving people... even if he causes a ton of collateral damage in the process.

Buzz is a Brawler who strictly relies in positioning and map awareness to passively charge his Super and ambush the opposition without exposing himself too much. In addition, unlike his fellow Assassins, Buzz can go exceptionally well against Tanks due to his high health and ability to stun-lock his enemy.

  • Buzz's special Trait is a visible circular radius around him that lets Buzz charge 6.75% of his Super per second for each enemy inside the circle, including ones hidden inside bushes or being invisible.
  • His Attack, Buzz Off, has Buzz whistling his whistle to create a piercing soundwave in front of him in a strafing motion from left to right, dealing damage 5 times. This attack has a pretty slow unload speed.
  • His Super, Torpedo Throw, throws out a torpedo buoy a large distance in front of him that can hit enemies or walls, pulling himself to the target afterwards (provided he isn't disrupted by stuns, pulls or knockbacks). Buzz then stuns any nearby enemies where the buoy lands, and the duration is extended the further the buoy is (between 0.5 and 1.5 seconds). This also allows him to traverse past water.
  • His first Gadget, Reserve Buoy, instantly charges his Super, but it won't stun enemies upon landing in exchange.
  • His second Gadget, X-Ray-Shades, allows Buzz and his allies to see all enemies hiding in bushes within the circle of his Trait for 12 seconds.
  • His first Star Power, Tougher Torpedo, increases the minimum stun duration of his Super by 0.5 seconds.
  • His second Star Power, Eyes Sharp, increases the radius of his Trait by 33%.
  • His Hypercharge, Buzzwatch, grants Buzz infinite Supers while his Hypercharge is active as long as he keeps landing them onto walls, allowing him to rapidly swing across the map if timed correctly. He also gains 15% more damage, 25% more speed, and a 15% damage reduction shield.

  • Achilles' Heel: Depending of the Star Power he decides to use, Buzz can go exceptionally well or exceptionally bad against long-range Brawlers. This is because a Buzz without Eyes Sharp, which noticeably increases the range of his Trait, will often fall short of passively charging a Super if he's facing Brawlers who can out-range the normal radius of his Trait, which means he's forced to either use one of his limited Reserve Buoy Gadgets to hook an opponent (which lacks the stunning factor and thus they can still escape with the appropriate tool) or leave his hiding spot to try chase the enemy on foot, which will most likely result in Buzz himself feeding the enemy.
  • Added Alliterative Appeal: If Buzz is in the lead, one of his possible voicelines is "Daring diving dino defeats delinquents".
  • Agitated Item Stomping: He angrily stomps on his film roll in the defeat animation of his Director/Filmmaker skin.
  • Ambiguously Human: Some of his voicelines and parts of his design (such as the visible seams on his torso and Black Bead Eyes) heavily imply Buzz isn't an actual dinosaur, but a human lifeguard inside a dinosaur mascot suit.
  • Attack Animal: His Born Bad skin replaces his buoy with a dog he throws by its leash to hook opponents.
  • Black Bead Eyes: In the few animations where Buzz is seen without his Cool Shades, is shown he has these.
  • Breath Weapon: Attacks with this in his Godzilla skin.
  • Car Fu: His Godzilla skin replaces his buoy that he throws with an entire boat.
  • Canis Major: His Fenrir skin is based on the gigantic beast from Norse Mythology, and the Ragnarok loading screen shows him towering above his fellow Brawlers.
  • Chained by Fashion:
    • He uses a chain as a necklace in his Born Bad skin, which is also where his microphone is hanging from.
    • His Fenrir skin has a golden chain wrapped around his neck
  • Cool Shades: Bar his losing animations and when using his Fenrir skin, Buzz is always seen with a pair of these.
  • Cool Sword: Carries one around in his Fenrir skin, which he also throws for his Super.
  • Delinquent Hair: Sports a killer mohawk in his Born Bad skin.
  • Destructive Saviour: Buzz Saves the Day! shows him pretty much destroying his water park while saving Jessie's turret from sinking into a pool.
  • Difficult, but Awesome: Unlike other Assassins whose Supers don't need enemies to charge passively (Edgar), can actively charge it from a safe distance (Crow, Fang, Leon, Melodie), pretty much have no requirements at all to get one (Sam, Stu), or are faster and have better mobility tools than him despite their similarly short range (Cordelius, Mico, Mortis), Buzz is forced to actively chase enemies to at least get the chance to passively charge his own Super with his Trait, which may probe to be difficult if the foe knows how to play around it (and even if he does get it, the buoy's thin hitbox means missing it is a big real possibility). On the other hand, Buzz's ability to stun-lock enemies and continuously cycle Supers once he gets the first one means that, despite his shortcomings, a well-played Buzz can potentially be a devastating asset for any team, capable of executing multiple Total Party Kills and safely escape thereafter without breaking a sweat.
  • Discard and Draw: His Reserve Buoy Gadget instantly fills up his Super at the cost of not being able to stun enemies with it.
  • Drunk with Power: According to his official description, he "clearly enjoys wielding the tiny bit of authority he has to the greatest degree possible''.
  • Dungeon Bypass: Arguably the main purpose of his Hypercharge, which lets Buzz spam infinite Supers as long as he lands them onto walls instead of an enemy, letting him swing across the map in mere seconds if the situation calls for it (i.e. the enemy gem carrier is hiding on the other end of the map, or the opposing team's Heist safe is one hit away from being destroyed).
  • Edible Bludgeon: His Buzzette skin replaces the buoy from his Super with a macaroon (s)he uses as a yo-yo.
  • Face of a Thug: He's a Perpetual Frowner with a loud voice and enjoyment for Trash Talking his enemies, but he's shown to be a genuinely well-meaning lifeguard who wants to protect people from drowning and, if some of his defeat lines are anything to go by, is quite self-conscious about what others think of him.
  • Funny Animal: He's (possibly) an anthropomorphic dinosaur who woks as a water park lifeguard.
  • Gender Swap: His Buzzette skin turns Buzz into a Girly Girl who, according to its Brawl Talk announcement, goes by "she."
  • Grappling-Hook Pistol: How his Super basically works, as he throws his torpedo buoy forwards and, if it hits an enemy or a wall, he's dragged towards them as if it were a hook.
  • Half-Dressed Cartoon Animal: He's a dinosaur (possibly) whose only piece of clothing is a pair of beach shorts.
  • An Ice Person: He attacks with icy breath that leaves ice crystals on the ground in his Fenrir skin, while his Super also leaves an ice trail on Buzz's path.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Buzz attacks using a lifeguard whistle to produce sound waves and a torpedo buoy to hook opponents and drag himself towards them. His skins aren't any less weird, as he uses a microphone and a dog in his Born Bad skin, a megaphone and a film roll in his Director/Filmmaker skin, a macaroon in his Buzzette skin, and a boat' in his Godzilla skin.
  • Kaiju:
    • The theme of his aptly named Kaiju skin, which gives Buzz the palette of the Kaiju Boss from the Super City Rampage game mode.
    • His Godzilla skin transforms him into the eponymous legendary monster.
  • Lightning Bruiser: He hits hard, has high health for an Assassin, and possesses great mobility between his above average speed and his Super serving as a Grappling-Hook Pistol. This comes at the cost of him being restricted to melee range, though.
  • Make Some Noise: He attacks by producing sound waves with his whistle.
  • Maniac Tongue: Buzzette is never seen without his/her tongue hanging from his/her mouth.
  • Meaningful Name: Buzz uses a whistle to buzz at his opponents.
  • Musical Assassin: His Born Bad skin uses a microphone to sing at his opponents and deal damage.
  • Overly-Long Tongue: In his Buzzette skin. His/Her tongue is so long, in fact, he/she uses it to attack by blowing raspberries at his/her opponents.
  • Perpetual Frowner: He seems to be perpetually angry the entire time, which is likely from him being constantly on guard duty.
  • Prima Donna Director: Becomes one in his Director/Filmmaker skin, with his whistle being replaced by a megaphone and his buoy by a film roll.
  • Punk Rock: The theme of his Born Bad skin, which is part of a punk rock band called the Bad Randoms along with Poco and Stu.
  • Rhymes on a Dime: For some reason, he speaks with lots of rhymes in his voicelines. One of his defeat phrases has him declaring he used to be a trombone player, implying he likes music at least.
"Only a fool messes with my pool!"
    "I dive, people stay alive."
    "Resuscitation is my vocation."
  • Shout-Out:
  • Super-Senses: His Eyes Sharp Star Power implies that his Trait comes from him being able to see/sense Brawlers at a greater distance than everybody else, including if they're invisible or hiding inside a bush.
  • V-Sign: Does so in the winning animation of his Buzzette skin.
  • X-Ray Vision: With his X Ray Shades Gadget, Buzz can see enemies hiding inside bushes for 12 seconds as long as they're inside the radius of his Trait.

    Cordelius

Release Date: 03/07/2023
Voiced by: Nicholas Contreras
Alternate Skins: Poison Cap Cordelius, Sporemind Cordelius, Raider Cordelius, Odin Cordelius, True Silver/Gold Cordelius

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cordelius_bs_full_body.png
"You are going on the compost pile."
Gardener and caretaker of Enchanted Forest. Obsesses over mushrooms and is hostile towards strangers.

A Legendary Brawler, and part of the currently incomplete Enchanted Forest trio along with Lily. He's a gardener in Starr Park who, after having to deal with the toxicity of the Enchanted Forest for so long, eventually went mad and became a hostile hermit.

Cordelius is an Assassin strictly specialized in 1v1 combat, able to easily isolate targets at his own leisure and duel them to death without their allies being able to interrupt the fight or rescue their companion before Cordelius inevitable takes them out.

  • Cordelius' special Trait is a visible circular radius around him that lets Cordelius charge 6.75% of his Super per second for each enemy inside the circle, including ones hidden inside bushes or being invisible.
  • His Attack, Mushrooms, shoots two mushrooms from his leaf blower in quick succession and with a slight spread, meaning it's possible to hit an enemy with only one if not aligned correctly.
  • His Super, This Is My Domain, shoots a shadowy mushroom that can pass through walls and, upon hitting an enemy Brawler, will transport both Cordelius and the objective to the Shadow Realm for 8 seconds or until one of them dies. In this alternate reality, Cordelius has 20% higher movement speed and 30% reload speed, while enemies can't use either their Supers or Gadgets. The Shadow Realm's layout will depend on the map it's currently being played, Brawlers won't be able to hide in bushes inside of it, and no other Brawlers apart from Cordelius and his objective can interfere in the fight. Upon exiting the Shadow Realm, whoever survived the fight will simply appear where they are currently standing on the map. If there are two or more Cordelius in a single match, the Shadow Realm will be shared between them if they have their Supers active from different objectives at the same time. Neither Cordelius or his objective will be able to charge their Supers inside of the Shadow Realm.
  • His first Gadget, Replanting, makes Cordelius jump in the direction he's currently facing, allowing him to bypass obstacles, water, and even enemy attacks. Cordelius can't use this Gadget while in the Shadow Realm.
  • His second Gadget, Poison Mushroom, modifies his next attack to shoot a poisonous mushroom that deals damage and prevents enemies from attacking or using Gadgets for 1 second, including spawnables such as Nita's bear or Penny's cannon. This Gadget can't be activated while inside the Shadow Realm, but can be used if Cordelius activates it before using his Super.
  • His first Star Power, Comboshrooms, boosts the damage of the second mushroom from his main attack by 30% if the enemy is hit by the first one.
  • His second Star Power, Mushroom Kingdom, will summon 3 mushrooms at random spots whenever Cordelius and his enemy enter the Shadow Realm. Upon contact, these mushrooms will damage enemies and heal Cordelius equal to his main attack damage. Enemies who pick these mushrooms will receive the damage instantly, while Cordelius will heal for three ticks over the course of three seconds. Unpicked mushrooms will disappear once the Shadow Realm is exited.
  • His Hypercharge, Complete Darkness, will considerably slow down enemies trapped in the Shadow Realm, allowing Cordelius to hunt them down more easily. He also gains 25% more damage, 24% more speed, and a 5% damage reduction shield.

  • Ambiguously Human: It's not made clear if Cordelius is some sort of mushroom creature or a human being wearing a mushroom as a cap. The fact it's been stated he used to be a "normal" gardener before being Driven to Madness from the Enchanted Forest influence doesn't help, as he could also have been human before the Enchanted Forest changed that.
  • Angrish: Some of his voicelines when receiving damage of being defeated have him rambling in an incoherent manner.
  • Alternate Company Equivalent: For Mordekaiser, due to Cordelius' Shadow Realm being pretty much the Brawl Stars version of Mordekaiser's Realm of Death. In addition, minus the fact his gender and voicelines are discernible, he can be the Brawl Stars version of Pyro.
  • Bait-and-Switch Character Intro: The preview before the Enchanted Woods Brawl Talk made him look a lot more sinister than he actually was.
  • Brain in a Jar: The basis for his Sporemind skin, although the "brain" is actually a mushroom.
  • Caring Gardener: Despite being completely crazy, he still seems to care about his job as a gardener in the Enchanted Forest, particularly when taking care of his mushrooms.
  • Combos: If he has the Comboshrooms Star Power, Cordelius can deal extra damage with the second mushroom from his main attack if he manages to land the first one.
  • Creepy Crows: He carries a crow on his shoulder in his Odin skin. The crow is also used offensively in Cordelius' Super, as he "throws" it at enemies for them to be transported to the Shadow Realm.
  • Dark World: The Shadow Realm, a dimension only Cordelius can access to with the use of his Super, presents itself as a darkened version of the real world with no life present apart from him and whoever he decides to take there.
  • Discard and Draw: His Super lets Cordelius isolate any targets and prevent them from using their Gadgets and Supers to counter him, but Cordelius won't be able to use any of his Gadgets either in exchange.
  • Driven to Madness: According to his backstory, Cordelius used to be a fairly normal gardener working at Starr Park. However, the "toxic" effect of the Enchanted Forest took a toll on his sanity and drove him completely crazy.
  • Duel to the Death: With his Super, Cordelius can transport both himself and an enemy to the Shadow Realm, where only them will be present for a fight for 8 seconds. Cordelius will have the upper hand, though, as he'll get boosted movement and reload speed while his opponent won't be able to use their Super or Gadgets.
    • This trope can be averted if there are multiple Cordelius, as they share a shadow realm.
  • Explosive Instrumentation: In the defeat animation of his Raider skin, his flamethrower malfunctions before blowing up, leaving Cordelius sadly looking at the remaining parts.
  • Eyepatch of Power: Sports an eyepatch in his Odin skin, in reference to the one used by the eponymous War God.
  • Face of a Thug: Despite being a crazy, creepy-looking hermit, Cordelius seems to be quite amicable in some occasions, such as having no problem with Doug entering the Enchanted Forest and requesting a hot dog from him in the "One Hot Dog, Please!" animation.
  • The Faceless: The only visible part of his face are his eyes, as most of it is covered by his gas mask and the mushroom on his head.
  • Fragile Speedster: Cordelius has one of the fastest movement speeds in the game (and can be even faster if he's inside of the Shadow Realm), but has relatively low health to compensate.
  • Gas Mask Mooks: Has one both in his default appearance and skins.
  • Glass Cannon: He's got great damage at close range, but his HP isn't the best, giving opponents a fair chance at taking him out inside of the Shadow Realm.
  • The Hermit: Most likely as a result of the Enchanted Forest influence, Cordelius has decided to live there in isolation while taking care of it and the mushrooms he grows.
    "Just leave me alone!"
  • Homemade Flamethrower: In his Raider skin, Cordelius attacks using a flamethrower that wouldn't look out of place in The Apunkalypse.
  • Horns of Barbarism: In his Odin skin.
  • Humanoid Aliens: His Sporemind skin brings these to mind, gaining a more "technological" design and mushroom simulating a Brain in a Jar.
  • The Hyena: A lot of his voicelines have him laughing while he taunts and makes fun of his opponents. Doubles a Laughing Mad due to how unhinged it sounds.
  • Improbable Weapon User: He attacks with a leaf blower that shoots mushrooms. His Sporemind skin replaces the leaf blower with what appears to be a syringe-gun hybrid.
  • In a Single Bound: His Replanting Gadget allows Cordelius to momentarily jump in the air, letting him bypass obstacles and even Brawler attacks for a second.
  • Incendiary Exponent: He attacks with screws engulfed on fire in his Raider skin. The mushroom from his Super also gets replaced with a ball of burning metal scrap.
  • Inelegant Blubbering: Some of his possible defeat lines have him crying rather loudly while rambling about something, which isn't helped by the fact his voice already sounds distorted to begin with.
  • Javelin Thrower: He carries around a javelin in his Odin skin, with his main attack "shooting" javelin heads at his enemies.
  • Laughing Mad: He laughs a lot in his voicelines, and all of those laughs sound very unhinged due to Cordelius' non-existent sanity.
  • Leaning on the Furniture: Leans on his own flamethrower after turning it on in the win animation of his Raider skin.
  • Loon with a Heart of Gold: Downplayed Trope. He's certainly missing a few screws and is mostly hostile to people he considers invaders, but he's quite friendly to the other residents of the forest and Doug when he gets lost, even if his behavior still seems scary to outsiders.
  • Magic Mushroom: The mushrooms from his Mushroom Kingdom Star Power don't seem to be normal fungi, as they only seem to exist inside of the Shadow Realm and damage enemies while healing Cordelius.
  • Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane: The Shadow Realm. It's supposed to be an alternate dimension that only Cordelius and his targets are able to enter to, but certain elements also heavily imply it to be a hallucination Cordelius inflicts on his enemies with the use of mushrooms, as the realm is simply an alternate version of the current map it's being played, and changes in the real world map (e.g. walls getting destroyed) are also applied to the Shadow Realm as well.
  • Mushroom Man: His main inspiration, although whether he's really this or not is up for debate.
  • Mushroom Samba: His mushrooms cause this. It's strong enough to made him crazy.
  • Not the Intended Use: While the intended use of Cordelius' Super is for him to trap a victim inside the Shadow Realm and take them out without the rest of their team being able to save them, there exists some alternate strategy involving Cordelius not defeating whoever he has trapped inside the Shadow Realm, instead using his increased speed and inability to be detected to freely move around the map. That way, once the Shadow Realm is exited after the effect ends, Cordelius can choose where to spontaneously appear to wreck havoc in the real world, setting up ambushes against unsuspecting enemies or rushing towards the objective of the match undetected (e.g. being able to reach the Heist safe without having an entire team preventing him from advancing).
  • Odd Friendship: Cordelius, a creepy and loony hermit, seems to get along well with Doug, a laid-back hot dog vendor Surfer Dude, as shown in the One Hot Dog, Please! animation. They are even seen sharing some time together after Doug sells Cordelius a hot dog.
  • Post-Apunkalyptic Armor: His Raider skin gives him a more mechanical, post-apocalyptic look, with the front of his gas mask becoming a skull, his cap getting screws attached to it, and his leaf blower being replaced with a flamethrower.
  • Power Nullifier: Much like Otis' Super, his Poison Mushroom Gadget lets Cordelius' next attack silence an opponent for 1 second, preventing them from attacking and using Gadgets.
  • Pungeon Master: A good chunk of his lines have him speaking with mushroom-based puns.
    "Time for truffle."
    "Put a cap on it."
    "Spore you later, alligator."
  • Punny Name: His name most likely comes from the real name "Cornelius" mixed with the Cordyceps fungi.
  • Shout-Out: His Odin skin is directly based on the Norse God of the same name.
  • War God: His Odin skin is based on the eponymous war God from Norse Mythology.
  • Wingding Eyes: His eyes become spirals in his defeat animation after one of his mushrooms explode on his face.

    Crow

Release Date: 15/06/2017 (Original)
Alternate Skins: White Crow, Phoenix Crow, Mecha Crow (Normal, Night, and Gold), Captain Crow, Crowbone, True Silver/Gold Crow

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/crow_bs_full_body.png
"Don't mess with my crew."
Crow trusts no one and keeps to himself. The most anyone knows about him is that he's often found at the diner, hanging out with Bull and Bibi.

A Legendary Brawler, and part of the Retropolis trio along with Bull and Bibi. He's an anthropomorphic badass crow wearing a biker uniform.

Crow is a Brawler specialized in dealing Damage Over Time with his attacks, allowing him to play passively from a safe distance while constantly annoying his enemies with ineffective healing and debuffs.

  • His Attack, Switchblade, throws 3 poisonous daggers at once in a light spread, dealing 4 extra ticks of damage over 4 seconds (each one dealing 25% of the damage of his daggers) and reducing poisoned enemies' healing by 40%. The poison effect does not stack if an enemy is hit with multiple daggers.
  • His Super, Swoop, has Crow jumping high in the air towards a desired location, firing a ring of 14 daggers both before he leaps and after he lands. These daggers have the same effect as the ones fired from his regular attack. While in the air, Crow is completely immune to harm except for status effects and damage over time.
  • His first Gadget, Defense Booster, reduces all incoming damage by 40% for 3 seconds.
  • His second Gadget, Slowing Toxin, slows the movement speed of all poisoned opponents for 2 seconds, even the ones currently out of Crow's range of vision.
  • His first Star Power, Extra Toxic, reduces the damage of enemies by 15% while they're poisoned.
  • His second Star Power, Carrion Crow, makes both his daggers and their poison deal 40% extra damage to enemies that have less than half of their maximum health.
  • His Mythic Gear, Enduring Toxins, increases Crow's poison damage by 30%. This doesn't affect the damage from his daggers.
  • His Hypercharge, Utility Knives, allows the daggers from his Super to pierce through objectives and return to him as if they were boomerangs, meaning each one can potentially damage the same objective twice. He also gains 25% more damage, 24% more speed, and a 5% damage reduction shield.

  • Animal Species Accent: He's a crow who speaks in a raspy voice and occasional caws in his voicelines.
  • Anti-Regeneration: A secondary effect of his main attack and Super is that enemies will receive 40% less healing from all sources as long as they're poisoned, which adds to him slowly wearing his enemies with Damage Over Time.
  • All Bikers are Hells Angels: Oh yes.
  • Badass Armfold: Just look at him!
  • Badass Biker: His main motif, as with every other member of the Retropolis trio.
  • Badass Cape: Gains one both in his Captain and his Crowbone skin.
  • Boring, but Practical: Compared to every other Assassin, Crow's gameplay is mostly oriented towards the passive side, as his long range, debuffing capabilities, and Damage Over Time mechanic means he's much better suited to kite and annoy his opponents from a distance until they've been weakened enough for him to dive in with his Super to finish them off, running back to safety afterwards to start the whole process again. Not as exciting as directly storming the enemy side and wrecking absolute havoc like other Assassins tend to do, but definitely reliable enough for him to be a genuine option.
  • Damage Over Time: Crow specializes in slowly grinding his opponents with the poison inflicted by his daggers, as the weapons themselves have a rather low damage output.
  • Damage Reduction: His Defense Booster Gadget gives Crow a shield that protects him from 40% of all incoming damage for 3 seconds.
  • A Dog Named "Dog": His name is Crow, and he is basically an anthropomorphic crow.
  • Domino Mask: In his Captain skin.
  • Dub Name Change: He's called Corbac in French, Qua in Vietnamese, Kruk in Polish, and Corvo in both Italian and Portuguese.
  • Eyepatch of Power: Gets one in his White skin.
  • Fanning the Knives: Does so in the winning animation of his Captain skin before launching them to the ground.
  • Feather Flechettes: The daggers Crow throws as his main attack are shaped after feathers.
  • Fragile Speedster: He's fast, but has one of the lowest health pools in the game.
  • Fully-Dressed Cartoon Animal: He's a crow who fully goes dressed as a Badass Biker:
  • Funny Animal: He's bipedal and dresses like a Badass Biker, but has the head of a crow and his body seems to be covered in feathers.
  • Glass Cannon: Despite the low damage provided by his daggers, Crow can regardless rack up a lot of it pretty quickly thanks to his fast recharge time and poison providing Damage Over Time. However, he's very fragile and can't withstand many hits.
  • "Good Luck" Gesture: Does a "Thumbs Up" in his default winning animation. Inverted in his defeat animation, where he does a "Thumbs Down" instead.
  • In a Single Bound: His Super allows Crow to leap high into the air to a designated location, bypassing obstacles and showering his opponents with poison daggers for its duration.
  • Kick Them While They Are Down: If he has the Carrion Crow Star Power, Crow deals extra damage to opponents who have less than 50% of their health.
  • Meaningful Name: He's a crow named Crow.
  • Mugged for Disguise: The clothes Crow wears belonged to an unlucky punk customer at Starr Park, who he attacked and robbed just moments after becoming a humanoid crow.
  • Non-Health Damage: His Extra Toxic Star Power reduces all damage from poisoned enemies by 15%.
  • The Only One I Trust: Bibi and Bull seem to be this for him, as his official description states he trusts no one and prefers to keep for himself, but he still decides to hang out with them.
  • The Paralyzer: His Slowing Toxin Gadget lets Crow slow down all enemies inflicted with his poison for 2 seconds, even ones hiding inside bushes or out of his view.
  • The Phoenix: Becomes one in with Phoenix skin.
  • Playing with Fire: In his Phoenix skin, Crow is covered in fire and replaces his poisoned daggers with ones that set the enemy on fire instead. His Captain skin also sets enemies on fire, although he's not covered in fire there.
  • Poisoned Weapon: Both his main attack and Super consist of throwing poisoned daggers towards his targets.
  • Precision-Guided Boomerang: The knives from his Hypercharged Super will always come back to him even if they hit an enemy or a wall.
  • Red Is Heroic: Part of the superhero costume of his Captain skin is red-colored.
  • Robot Me: He has three skins that turn him into a robot: Mecha, Night Mecha, and Gold Mecha.
  • Sean Connery Is About to Shoot You: He does this with his dagger shooters in the winning animation of his Mecha skins.
  • Shock and Awe: In his Mecha skins, Crow replaces his poison effect with electricity instead.
  • Skeletons in the Coat Closet: In his Crowbone skin, he uses an avian skull (most likely from a vulture) as a mask.
  • The Stoic: He doesn't display a lot of emotion in his voicelines. Even the ones where he's receiving damage or being defeated have him whimpering or complaining in a low voice.
  • Superhero: The theme of his Captain skin, which gives him a Badass Cape and a Domino Mask to protect his identity.
  • Three-Point Landing: The winning animation of his Captain skin ends with Crow doing this after tossing his daggers onto the ground.
  • Uplifted Animal: He was once an ordinary crow who fell into a gem-filled crevice, turning him into the crow man he currently is.

    Edgar

Release Date: 19/12/2020
Voiced by: David Autovino
Alternate Skins: Quickdraw Edgar, Orochi Edgar, Doctor Edgar, Edgar Tata, Blackbird Edgar, Mecha Edgar (Normal, Unit 00, and Unit 01), Thief Edgar, True Silver/Gold Edgar

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/edgar_bs_full_body.png
"Ugh, can't believe I have to do this."
Edgar believes nobody understands him. Certainly not his mom, who thinks he's going through a phase. Only he knows the darkness in his soul is eternal.

An Epic Brawler, and part of the Gift Shop trio along with Colette and Griff. He's an edgy teenager who works stocking the shelves in Starr Park's gift shop, and seems to have found a magical scarf with the ability of feeling emotion and do the fighting for him.

Edgar is a Brawler with insane DPS and burst damage capable of melting even through the tankiest opposition in a matter of seconds if left unchecked, but comes at the cost of having one of the shortest ranges and health points in the game.

  • Edgar's special Trait allows him to passively charge his Super and Hypercharge without the need to deal damage. With 3.33% Super and 0.8% Hypercharge charged per second, it takes Edgar 30 seconds to fully charge a Super and 2 minutes and 5 seconds to fully charge a Hypercharge without other external factors.
  • His Attack, Fight Club, has him throw two rapid punches with the help of his sentient scarf, healing himself for 35% of the damage dealt per hit against enemy Brawlers, which scales with damage and health bonuses. This attack has a very short cooldown and unload speed.
  • His Super, Vault, lets him vault in a desired direction, even over obstacles. After landing, Edgar's speed will be boosted by 200 points (approximately 25%) for 2.5 seconds.
  • His first Gadget, Let's Fly, increases Edgar's Super charge speed by 525% for 4 seconds (70% of his Super over the Gadget's duration).
  • His second Gadget, Hardcore, grants Edgar a shield that possess 50% of his maximum health, although it decays for 5% maximum health every 0.5 seconds and, if his shield breaks from an attack, the remaining damage will be directed to Edgar himself.
  • His first Star Power, Hard Landing, allows him to deal damage equal to 125% of his main attack around him when landing from his Super.
  • His second Star Power, Fisticuffs, buffs the healing he receives from every punch he manages to hit from 35% to 43.75%.
  • His Hypercharge, Outburst, doubles his Super charge rate and reload speed for 5 seconds after using his Super. He also gains 15% more damage, 24% more speed, and a 15% damage reduction shield.

  • Amazing Technicolor Population: His skin becomes gray-colored in his Orochi skin.
  • Ascended Meme: The introduction of his Blackbird skin describes him as "watching you from a bush while charging his Super", which is a recurring joke among fans about what Edgar's gameplay basically boils down to, for better or worse.
  • Ass Kicking Pose: He makes one in the winning animation of his Orochi skin, which resembles Havik's Snake Kung Fu from Mortal Kombat: Deception.
  • Awesome, but Impractical: A non-Hypercharge Edgar is this as a whole. While his high burst damage and DPS, unique Life Drain mechanic, and automatically charging Super might make him seem like an enticing choice for any player, truth is, these qualities are unfortunately not enough to allow him stand side by side with other Assassins and Brawlers in general, especially after the lower ranks are cleared. His Life Drain, while not entirely useless, is often irrelevant when his ridiculously paper-thin defenses mean he'll most likely die from two or three hits after diving into enemy territory regardless of how much life he manages to steal, even with his Hardcore Gadget. In addition, his automatically charged Super will quickly stop looking like an advantage and more like a liability when you consider in takes a grand total of 30 seconds to charge without other factors such as his already limited Let's Fly Gadget (which, in fast-paced game modes such as Brawl Ball and Heist, can mean half of the match), forcing him to either camp in a bush/behind a wall and leave his teammates in a number disadvantage or try chase the enemy on foot, with the most likely outcome being Edgar getting obliterated before he can even come close to his objective. Finally, a ton of Supers, Gadgets, and Star Powers can disable him either permanently or temporarily and allow enemies to escape safely away from him, rendering the time it took him to charge a Super completely wasted. In short, for all the apparent advantages Edgar may have, they'll often fall short of outweighing his weaknesses and give any serious player a reason to use him over other more reliable options.
  • Battle Cry: All of his voicelines when using his Super have him screaming in fear. Justified, as the one jumping that high into the sky isn't Edgar himself, but his sentient scarf making him fly.
  • Big "WHAT?!": One of his possible defeat voicelines.
  • Botanical Abomination: His Doctor skin uses a mutant plant instead of a scarf, which is not only sapient as the rest of his weapons, but it also has teeth.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: He's one of the few Brawlers who seem to be aware they're inside a videogame, calling it by its name and blaming lag for him losing in a bunch of his voicelines.
  • Breakout Character: Among the non-Series Mascot Brawlers, Edgar is undoubtedly one of the most popular ones, with both young and older fans gravitating towards him in spite of his apparent shortcomings thanks to his interesting design, cool personality, fun mechanics, and memetic voicelines. The developers seem to be aware of this, as Edgar is one of the Brawlers that tend to get the most featured in official artwork and social media posts, making him some sort of secondary mascot to the game.
  • Combat Compliment: He may call his opponent awesome in one of his defeat voicelines.
  • Combat Tentacles: His scarf gets replaced with four robotic tentacles in his Mecha skin.
  • Cooldown Manipulation:
    • His Let's Fly Gadget momentarily increases Edgar's Super charge rate by 525% for 4 seconds.
    • His Hypercharge will double his Super charge rate and reload speed for 5 seconds whenever he uses his Super.
  • Clothing Combat: He attacks his targets by punching them with his scarf, which appears to be alive.
  • Cowboy: The theme of his Quickdraw skin, where Edgar gains a cowboy hat and replaces his scarf with a poncho.
  • Crutch Character: Thanks to his relatively low rarity, early availability in the Starr Road, and being one of the two free Epic Brawlers given to new players as a daily login reward, it isn't rare to see a novice player with Edgar as one of their first few Brawlers. At early ranks, Edgar is one of the best Brawlers for trophy pushing (particularly in Showdown) due to the abundance of other novice players not knowing how to deal with his very high damage and speed, plus the lack of maxed Brawlers (and thus Gadgets and Star Powers) making it very easy for Edgar to constantly Total Party Kill the opposing team or melt through an entire Showdown lobby in seconds. Is only around the 500 trophy mark that Edgar's weaknesses begin to get severely exploited by more experienced and savvy players aware of them and high level Brawlers start to become more and more common, which can easily counter Edgar either with their Gadgets and/or Star Powers or by mere brute force. Of course, this only applies if Edgar happens to not have a Hypercharge.
  • Damage Reduction: His Hardcore Gadget gives Edgar a shield that blocks up to half of his maximum health in damage, although it decays by 5% every 0.5 seconds.
  • Desert Bandits: His Thief skin turns him into an oriental thief
  • Dull Surprise: Notably, all of his voicelines whenever he defeats a Brawler have him reacting in a very neutral and uninterested manner, with the most notable one being a plain and simple "Eh."
  • The Eeyore: He seems to perpetually be in a bad mood at all times, with not even victory managing to cheer him up. Notably, he's one of the few Brawlers who doesn't smile in their Happy pin, and his Thanks pin (which in most Brawlers has them giving happy cat smile) has Edgar crying instead.
  • Emo Teen: His design seems influenced by this culture, right down to the hair and his description stating that "nobody understands the darkness in his soul".
  • Empathic Weapon: His scarf seems to have a mind of its own. When they lose a match, the scarf turns on Edgar, hitting his head like a bongo.
  • Fantastic Flora: In his Doctor skin, Edgar replaces his scarf with a sentient, creepy-looking plant that coils around his head if they lose.
  • Finger Gun: Not him, but rather his sentient poncho does this in the winning animation of his Quickdraw skin.
  • Fragile Speedster: He's fast, but incapable of tanking many hits.
  • Glass Cannon: Edgar has a lot of burst damage, but his health is paper-thin. He can somewhat remedy this thanks to the Life Drain from his main attack, but Brawlers with equal or superior burst damage are prone to outdamaging his healing.
  • Ground Punch: In the winning animation of his Mecha skin, his mechanical arms punch the ground hard enough to break through it
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Poor guy can't catch a break from his weapons in his defeat animations, as he's either repeatedly hit in the head like a bongo (standard), bit in the hands and thrown around by them (Orochi), or has his head swallowed by an oversized plant (Doctor). At least the poncho of his Quickdraw skin seems to care about him, as it tries to wake him up after Edgar faints by himself.
  • In a Single Bound: Edgar's Super allows him to vault over obstacles towards a desired location.
  • Irisless Eye Mask Of Mystery: Gets one in his Blackbird skin, which is modeled after the one sported by Nightwing.
  • Jive Turkey: Despite his The Eeyore Emo Teen personality, he may blurt out some Internet slang and memes in his voicelines.
    "CEO of Brawl Stars."
    "Big yikes."
    "Don't be salty."
    "I'm shook."
  • Kryptonite Is Everywhere: One of the main reasons Edgar is seen as an Awesome, but Impractical Crutch Character is due to his crippling weakness to lots of Superssuch as, Gadgetssuch as, and Star Powerssuch as in the game, all of which can either disable/defeat him before he can assassinate his objective, allow the enemy to flee after Edgar uses his Super on them, or even force Edgar himself to escape using his own Super, effectively wasting it. And that's not taking into account all the Brawlers with enough raw damage to defeat him with their main attacks alone before Edgar can do anything, such as Griff and Spike, or posses other mechanics that prevent Edgar from coming close, such as Bibi's Knockback and Angelo and Eve's Walk on Water Trait.
  • Life Drain: Edgar's main attack has the unique effect of healing him 35% of the damage dealt by each of his scarf's punches. If he has the Fisticuffs Star Power, this percentage is boosted to 43.75%.
  • Mad Scientist: The theme of his Doctor skin, which gives Edgar a lab coat and replaces his scarf by deadly experimental flowers.
  • Magic Carpet: In place of a scarf, he carries a sentient carpet around his neck in his Thief skin.
  • Multi-Armed and Dangerous: Gains four robotic tentacles in his Mecha skin.
  • Orochi: The theme of his Orochi skin. With it, Edgar replaces his living scarf with two serpents.
  • Punny Name: Edgar is an edgy teenager.
  • Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: Edgar's main attack. Interestingly, is not him dealing the punches, but his magical living scarf.
  • Robot Me: Becomes a tentacled robot in his Mecha skin.
  • Scarf of Asskicking: Wears a scarf that literally kicks ass.
  • Shockwave Stomp: If he has the Hard Landing Star Power, Edgar produces a shockwave around him upon landing with his Super, dealing damage to nearby enemies.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Snakes Are Sinister: In his Orochi skin, his scarf gets replaced by a pair of snakes that bite his opponents instead of punching them.
  • Skill Gate Characters: As detailed in Crutch Character above, Edgar is known to be the bane of novice players in lower ranks thanks to their inexperience at fighting an extremely fast, highly evasive, high DPS Brawler who can catch up and melt through their HP in seconds, to the point of considering Edgar to be one of the best Brawlers among the entire roster... that's it, until his glaring weaknesses to most abilities in the game being exploited and players gaining experience at better aiming their shots start becoming a commonplace, at which point Edgar will stop being the murder machine newbies know him for and turn into a liability for any serious team unfortunate enough to have him as a member.
  • Smoking Barrel Blowout: He does this with his poncho's Finger Gun in the win animation of his Quickdraw skin.
  • Supernatural Gold Eyes: Gains them both in his Orochi and his Doctor skins, the former being based in a Mythological monster and the latter being the product of a science experiment gone wrong.
  • This Looks Like a Job for Aquaman: Despite being the most infamous example of a Skill Gate Character in the game, Edgar is widely regarded as the best Brawler to use in the higher levels of the Boss Fight game mode, as his Life Drain (which scales with Power Cubes) allows him to keep up with the massive damage that the boss robot dishes out better than any other Brawler.
  • Three-Point Landing: In his standard winning animation.
  • V-Sign: In his Special pin.

    Fang

Release Date: 17/01/2022
Voiced by: Nicholas Contreras
Alternate Skins: Furious/Ferocious Fang, Octo Fang, Kabocha Fang, Blue Pitcher/Red Pitcher Fang, Fanguard, True Silver/Gold Fang

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fang_bs_full_body.png
"My foot, your face, it’s on!"
Fang has absorbed so many kung-fu movies he practically lives in one. He's confident, charming, and never uses his hands if he can kick instead!

A Mythic Brawler, and part of the Cinema trio along with Buster and Maisie. Fang is a popcorn vendor who aspires to be a Martial Arts Movie star, and is currently on his way to achieve his dream in Starr Park.

Fang is a close-ranged Brawler with the unique ability of being able to actively charge his Super from a distance thanks to his mechanics, making him a strong choice both in passive and aggressive gamemodes for any team in need of a reliable Assassin.

  • His Attack, Wu-Shoe, is a hefty kick in front of him that strikes a single target. If his attack misses, Fang sends his shoe flying for a medium-long distance in the same direction as his kick, dealing far less damage (approximately 25% of his normal kick) but giving him the same Super charge regardless.
  • His Super, Sneak Ahead, is a powerful kick that makes him dash forward at neck-breaking speed, and striking an enemy with the initial kick will cause Fang to bounce up to an additional 3 nearby enemies, including non-Brawler entities.
  • His first Gadget, Corn-Fu, throws 8 popcorn bags in the air, dropping 3 kernels per bag in a circular radius that explode on contact or after 2 seconds and deal 40% of his main attack damage per kernel.
  • His second Gadget, Roundhouse Kick, stuns all enemies around him for half a second. This Gadget also has the property of cancelling the animation of his main attack after the kick, allowing him to bypass its cooldown and unload two kicks in quick succession if timed properly.
  • His first Star Power, Fresh Kicks, restores his Super immediately if he defeats an enemy Brawler using it.
  • His second Star Power, Divine Soles, reduces damage from any incoming source by 8% every 3 seconds, with the maximum amount of blocked damage being 90%.
  • His Hypercharge, Dragon Kick, allows him to go through walls with his Super while also leaving a trail of popcorn behind him, up to four pieces scattered. This popcorn will explode after two seconds or until a an enemy walks over it, each one dealing half the damage his non-Hypercharged Super does. He also gains 15% more damage, 25% more speed, and a 15% damage reduction shield.

  • All Asians Know Martial Arts: Fang is explicitly stated to be Asian (most likely Chinese), and his moveset revolves around him knowing kung-fu.
  • Apparently Human Merfolk: His Octo skin is part of the Deep Sea Brawl skin set (shared with Sharktooth Colt and Coral Belle), all of which are humans who have been shown breathing underwater in promotional material.
  • Armor-Piercing Attack: His Hypercharge allows his Super to go through walls without breaking them.
  • Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: He's a martial artist, and a lot of his quotes are him bragging that no-one can defeat him, or demanding his opponent pay attention to him.
"Hey, enough about you! Let’s focus on me!"
  • Attack Animal: Instead of shoes, his Octo skin kicks medusae at the enemies.
  • Badass Longcoat: His Furious/Ferocious skins sport a gold/green-colored one.
  • Baseball Episode: His Pitcher skins turn him into a baseball player who, instead of tossing his shoe, throws fire-covered baseballs at his enemies.
  • Battle Cry: He might yell "DRAGOOOON FANG!!!" when using is Super.
  • Big Ol' Eyebrows: His eyebrows are almost as thick as his eyes are.
  • Blood Knight: He absolutely loves fighting, with most of his voicelines showing him excited about having a good brawl and complimenting his opponents for putting up a good fight against him, no matter if he's winning or losing.
  • Boisterous Bruiser: He's fast, powerful, and an easily excitable and friendly guy.
  • Bring It: Does this sign in his winning animation.
  • Combat Compliment: Some of his voicelines when receiving damage have him genuinely praise his opponents, calling their attacks impressive or saying they're worthy adversaries.
  • Combos: A particularly deadly combination Fang can use to destroy a lot of Brawlers in a 1v1 is using his Super on them, kick them with his main attack, rapidly use his Roundhouse Kick Gadget to stun them and cancel the cooldown of his main attack, then rapidly kick them again, hitting his target three times in the span of a single second. Unless the target has a lot of HP, some sort of Damage Reduction, or a way to reliably escape from him before he can perform this combo, they'll be dead in the blink of an eye.
  • Cooldown Manipulation: His Fresh Kicks Star Power can recharge his Super if he defeats an enemy with it.
  • Damage Reduction: With the Divine Soles Star Power, Fang receives a shied that reduces 8% of damage every 3 seconds, although it can't block more than 90% of the incoming attack.
  • Dash Attack: His Super makes him charge at one enemy, and he can potentially dash to up to three more enemies depending on positioning.
  • Dub Name Change: He's named Klet in Polish.
  • Edible Ammunition: His Corn-Fu Gadget scatters exploding popcorn, while his Kabocha skin kicks pumpkins for his main attack.
  • Elemental Punch: Or rather Elemental Kick, as his kicks become engulfed on fire in his Kabocha skin.
  • Extremity Extremist: Only uses his kicks in combat, never punches.
  • Glitch Entity: His Fanguard skin turns him into some sort of cyberspace humanoid who constantly glitches over the course of its winning animation.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: One of his possible lines when receiving damage is him yelling "Fang it!"
  • Handwraps of Awesome: In his Furious and Ferocious skins, he wears handwraps that reach up past his elbows.
  • Help, I'm Stuck!: He gets stuck to the floor in the defeat animation of his Octo skin, courtesy of his boots possessing suction cups
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: He's been described as having a bromance with his best friend Buster.
  • High-Tech Hexagons: When using his Super in his Fanguard skin, a shield-like construction made of hexagons will appear in front of Fang while dashing.
  • Hurricane Kick: In the winning animation of his Furious/Ferocious skin.
  • I Know Mortal Kombat: His official description implies he acquired his fighting skills by watching too many kung-fu movies.
  • Large Ham: Expect most of his voicelines to be full of yelling and emotions, specially if he's using his Super.
    "DRAAAGOOOOON FANG!!!!"
  • Lightning Bruiser: Fang is fast, hits hard, and has enough HP to survive a handful of hits from other designated attackers. However, he's limited to being a Close-Range Combatant if he wants to show his true potential, as the flying shoe from his main attack is quite weak.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: Fang has long hair in a ponytail and is pretty good-looking.
  • Pumpkin Person: His Kabocha skin gives him a mask designed after a pumpkin and has vines growing out of his arms and legs.
  • Pungeon Master: His dialogue is full of popcorn puns:
    "A-salt and buttery!"
    "You butter believe it!"
    "Buttery smooth moves!"
    "Woo! Pop and chop!"
    "You're so corny!"
    "I'm popping off, losers!"
  • Retcon: Upon his introduction, Fang was established as part of the Brawlywood trio along with Lola due to both of them being actors (or, in Fang's case, an aspiring one). However, Buster's introduction led the developers to split them apart and make Fang part of a movie theater-inspired trio.
  • Roundhouse Kick: One of his Gadgets, which is literally called Roundhouse Kick, has Fang kicking all enemies around him and stunning them for half a second.
  • Shoe Slap: If his kick doesn't strike a target, it launches a shoe that does less damage, but has a lot more range and charges the same amount of Super as his kick. This also happens to him in his defeat animation, where Fang throws a kick up that drops his shoe right onto his head, knocking him out cold.
  • Situational Damage Attack: The damage from his regular attack varies depending on whether he makes contact with the enemy or his flying shoe is the one that ends up hitting them. The former is stronger, but the latter has more range.
  • Technicolor Fire: His Kabocha skin kicks pumpkins covered in green fire at his enemies.
  • Third-Person Person: Some of his voicelines have Fang referring to himself in third person.
    "No one defeats the Fang!"
  • Total Party Kill: While technically every Brawler is capable of this, Fang deserves a special mention courtesy of his Fresh Kicks Star Power, which lets him to continuously chain his Supers if he defeats an enemy with them, allowing him to potentially wipe out the entire opposing team easily if they've been weakened enough.
  • Trademark Favourite Food: Popcorn. He eats it in his victory animation, his buttons and the badge on his hat look like kernels and a bag of popcorn respectively, and he uses it in his Corn-Fu Gadget. Fittingly, he works as a popcorn vendor in Starr Park Cinema.
  • Unmanly Secret: Secretly loves the movie The Princess Diaries 2, going as far as literally hiding his copy of it in a safe.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: As shown in Maisie's introduction video, he and Buster are prone to pranking each other while working, but are still very good friends.
  • Wall Run: The winning animation of his Fanguard skin has him casually walking up the wall.
  • Waxing Lyrical: One of his super quotes, "Can I kick it", references a song of the same name (released in 1990) by A Tribe Called Quest.
  • We Will Meet Again: One of his defeat quotes.

    Leon

Release Date: 05/12/2018
Voiced by: Thomas Hagena
Alternate Skins: Shark Leon, Werewolf Leon/White Wolf Leon, Sally Leon, Dino Leon, Trick or Treat Leon, Leon The Stray, Mecha Leon (Normal, Shadow, and Radiant), True Silver/Gold Leon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/7ep35xzoin421_179x300.png
"Sneaky time!"
Since Leon doesn't like hanging with other people much, his ability to become invisible comes in handy. Only his little sister, Nita, seems to get through him.

A Legendary Brawler, and part of the Shaman Tribe trio along with Bo and Nita. Leon is a sneaky child who is always sucking on a lollipop and staying out of the public eye. He's also Nita's big brother.

Leon is all about causing panic and a constant sense of insecurity on the enemy's side, being able to distract opponents with his stealthy kit for his teammates to take advantage of or simply ambush them when they least expect it, forcing them to be aware of his presence at all times.

  • His Attack, Spinner Blades, throws 4 spinner blades in a cone from left to right, dealing decreasing damage the farther they travel.
  • His Super, Smoke Bomb, allows Leon to become invisible and undetectable by spawnables for 6 seconds, but he can still be seen if he's near enemies and the invisibility is dispelled if he attacks during this period. Receiving damage and getting stunned or knocked back will only momentarily make him visible, but not dispel the invisibility altogether.
  • His first Gadget, Clone Projector, creates a harmless duplicate of himself to follow and distract his enemies, though it dissipates after 10 seconds, receives double the damage from attacks, and can't be healed.
  • His second Gadget, Lollipop Drop, deploys a lollipop on the ground that makes him and his team invisible in a radius around the object. The lollipop has 1500 health and decays 75 health per second, lasting up to 20 seconds if it doesn't take any damage. In addition, the lollipop has no effect on Leon's Star Powers.
  • His first Star Power, Smoke Trails, gives him a 30% speed boost while his Super is active.
  • His second Star Power, Invisiheal, allows him to recover 20% of his maximum health per second while he's invisible, for a total of 120% of his health regained if he remains invisible the full 6 seconds his Super lasts.
  • His Mythic Gear, Lingering Smoke, adds two extra seconds of duration to Leon's Super, going from 6 to 8 seconds.
  • His Hypercharge, Limbo, lets Leon stay invisible when attacking as long as his Hypercharge is active. He also gains 25% more damage, 20% more speed, and a 25% damage reduction shield.

  • Aloof Big Brother: He's noticeably calmer and more soft-spoken than his little sister Nita, although he still seems to care a lot about her.
  • Animal Motifs: Chameleons. His hoodie is designed after one (tail included), his main gimmick is turning invisible, and he's named Leon.
    • Except for his Trick or Treat skin, all of his alternate skins replace his chameleon motif with other animals: sharks, (were)wolves, ducks, dinosaurs, and cats.
  • Attack Animal: His spinner blades get replaced with mini sharks in his Shark skin.
  • Badass Native: As with the other members of his trio/family, Leon has Native American motifs and is a powerful Brawler on his own.
  • Bedsheet Ghost: His hoodie becomes modeled after one in his Trick or Treat skin.
  • Big "NO!": One of his possible defeat voicelines.
  • Blade Spam: He does this with his claws in the win animation of his Dino skin.
  • Chain Pain: His White Wolf skin shoots chains as his main attack.
  • Cool, but Inefficient: His Clone Projector Gadget. While it can serve as an alternate way to scout grass and find invisible enemies due to the clone always going after the nearest Brawler, the clone's low survivability and inability to fool experienced players who can differentiate between a real and a fake Leon make it an overall weak tool in high-level matches, especially since Lollipop Drop, his other Gadget, is generally agreed to be much more useful as well.
  • Cute Kitten: His hoodie becomes modeled after a kitten in his Leon The Stray skin.
  • Doppleganger Spin: His Clone Projector Gadget allows him to create a harmless copy of himself to wander around confusing the opponents and detect invisible enemies. This copy receives double damage and can't be healed by any means, so experienced players can easily figure out it's a fake.
  • Edible Ammunition: His Sally skin uses eggs to attack.
  • Enfant Terrible : While Jacky, Bull and Dynamike are the Unwitting Instigator of Doom, Leon intentionally handed Poco a brainwashing gem with the intention of making him a Brawler, immediately celebrating when it worked despite the fact this apparently killed Poco.
  • Healing Factor: If he has the Invisiheal Star Power, Leon can heal 20% of his maximum health per second while invisible. If he remains invisible the full 6 seconds his Super lasts, it'll be a total of 120% of his maximum health.
  • In the Hood: He wears a hoodie in all of his skins, each one with different Animal Motifs.
  • Invisibility: Leon's main gimmick and assassination tool is the ability to turn invisible with his Super, allowing him to sneak up and take out key targets for his team. Additional, he can turn his own teammates invisible with the Lollipop Drop Gadget, albeit within a limited area.
  • Invisible Introvert: His official description states his invisibility comes in handy due to the fact he doesn't like hanging out with other people that much.
  • Kids Love Dinosaurs: In his Dino skin, Leon's hoodie becomes dinosaur-themed.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Leon's health isn't actually that bad compared to other assassins, and he has plenty of speed and damage to be an effective one.
  • Ninja: While not explicitly called one, Leon's ability to turn invisible and his main attack throwing pseudo-ninja stars certainly brings one to mind.
  • Nitro Boost: His Super can turn into this if he has the Smoke Trails Star Power, as it boosts his speed by 30% as long as he's invisible from his Super.
  • No Social Skills: He doesn't like interacting with other people that much, which is why his Invisibility is an appropriate skill for him.
  • Ominous Visual Glitch: When Leon turns invisible in his Mecha skin, a glitch-like effect will surround him for the Super duration. As for the ominous part, let's say a Leon appearing out of nowhere can be scary for any enemy.
  • The Only One I Trust: Nita seems to be this, as his description states she's the only one who seems to get through him.
  • Oral Fixation: Leon is always seen sucking on a lollipop. His Lollipop Drop Gadget lets him plant it in the ground to turn his teammates invisible in a medium-sized radius around it.
  • Our Werewolves Are Different: In his Werewolf and White Wolf skins, Leon becomes a werewolf which has somehow acquired the ability to turn invisible.
  • Punny Name: Leon's Animal Motif is the chameleon.
  • Robot Me: Becomes a robotic version of himself in his Mecha skins.
  • Say My Name: One of his possible death lines is calling out for her sister Nita.
  • Scary Teeth: His teeth become sharp and pointy in his Werewolf, White Wolf, and Leon The Stray skins.
  • Shrug Take: He simply shrugs and looks away in his standard defeat animation.
  • Situational Damage Attack: Leon's spinner blades deal less damage the farther they travel before hitting an enemy.
  • Shout-Out: His Sally skin is directly inspired on the character of the same name from LINE FRIENDS.
  • Smoke Out: Leon actually turns invisible by throwing a smoke bomb to his feet, though he still remain in this state even after leaving the smoke bomb's radius.
  • Sticky Fingers: One of the security tapes show him sneakily stealing some of Mandy's candy while Nita distracts her.
  • Stock Ninja Weaponry: Leon attacks throwing spinner blades that strongly resemble ninja stars.
  • Sweet Tooth: Between his Oral Fixation being a lollipop and one of the security tapes showing him stealing a large amount of candy from Mandy's stand, it's safe to say that Leon really seems to like sweets.
  • Teleport Spam: The victory animation of his Mecha skin has him teleportin all over the place before settling for a Badass Back.
  • Threatening Shark: In his appropriately named Shark skin, Leon's hoodie becomes shark-themed.
  • Useless Useful Stealth: The fake Leon generated by his Clone Projector Gadget is useful for fooling and distracting players... in low-level matches. At high-level play, experienced players will immediately be able to differentiate between a clone and the real Leon almost instantly, making any attempts at doing sneaky plays with the Gadget fall flat most of the time.

    Lily

Release Date: TBA
Alternate Skins: Strawberry Lily, True Silver/Gold Lily

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wiki_completa_da_lily_brawler_brawl_stars.png
A nerd at heart and a total witchcraft buff, Lily's thirst for knowledge once led her into the Enchanted Woods, where an incident involving a firefly and a carnivorous plant would change her life forever...

A Mythic Brawler, and part of the currently incomplete Enchanted Forest trio along with Cordelius. She's a girl who once went into the Enchanted Forest to perform an unknown ritual but got eaten along a firefly by a magical carnivorous plant, transforming her into a human/firefly/plant hybrid.

  • Lily's special Trait is a visible circular radius around her that lets Lily charge 6.75% of her Super per second for each enemy inside the circle, including ones hidden inside bushes or being invisible.
  • Her Attack, Thorn in the Side, has Lily jab at enemies in front of her with a short-ranged thorn that can pierce through multiple targets. Lily only possesses a single ammo bar, meaning she can't spam this attack.
  • Her Super, Flourish, throws a long-ranged seed that, in addition to dealing damage, will teleport Lily towards the enemy Brawler it manages to hit, appearing right behind them. This seed isn't able to pass through walls and won't teleport Lily if an enemy Brawler isn't hit by it.
  • Her first Gadget, Vanish, teleports Lily into the Shadow Realm for 3 seconds. Unlike Cordelius, Lily won't be able to bring anyone into the Shadow Realm with her, but if she uses this Gadget while a Cordelius' Super is active, she'll be able to join the fight between him and his opponent.
  • Her second Gadget, Repot, turns her next Super into a projectile that can be lobbed over walls, dealing damage in a small radius around it and teleporting Lily towards the landing zone even if an enemy isn't hit.
  • Her first Star Power, Spiky, boosts Lily's next basic attack by 50% after teleporting with her Super. If Lily hits multiple targets with the boosted attack, only the first one hit will receive the extra damage. This Star Power is affected by Lily's Repot Gadget.
  • Her second Star Power, Vigilance, increases Lily's speed by 15% if an enemy Brawler is inside the radius of her Trait. The speed boost doesn't stack if there are multiple targets inside her Trait.

    Melodie

Release Date: 27/03/2024
Alternate Skins: Sif Melodie, True Silver/Gold Melodie

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/melodie_bs_full_body.png
"Melodians! Are you ready to rock?"
When it comes to Karaoke, Melodie shows no mercy. Armed with her kawaii looks and devilish set of pipes, she never fails to steal the limelight.

A Mythic Brawler, and current known member of the K-pop trio. She's a popular karaoke singer at Starr Park with a heavy mood swinging problem.

  • Her Attack, Monster Notes, shoots a single, long-ranged musical note from her microphone that deals rather low damage. If this attack connects, a musical note will spawn and begin to orbit around Melodie, which will damage anything it touches for double the damage her main attack deals. These musical notes last 8 seconds each, disappear in the order they were spawned, and can be replaced by new notes if Melodie manages to constantly hit her main attack, effectively resetting their cooldown. Melodie can only have a maximum of three musical notes orbiting around her.
  • Her Super, Catchy Chorus, grants Melodie three dashes that she can use to quickly move around the map and/or hit enemies with her orbiting musical notes. Melodie can use each dash individually, although she'll only begin to charge another Super once all three dashes have been used.
  • Her first Gadget, Perfect Pitch, increases the rotation speed of Melodie's musical notes by 25% and their radius by 60% for 5 seconds.
  • Her second Gadget, Interlude, gives Melodie a shield whose health will increase by 10% of her maximum health for each musical note orbiting around her, up to 30% for all three musical notes. This shield will decay by 5% every half a second, meaning the damage it can block decreases over time.
  • Her first Star Power, Fast Beats, boosts Melodie's movement speed by 6% for each musical note orbiting around her, up to 18% for all three musical notes.
  • Her second Star Power, Extended Mix, increases the duration of Melodie's musical notes by 2 seconds, going from 8 to 10 seconds.

  • invokedFan Community Nickname: In-universe, she calls her fans "Melodians".
  • Gratuitous Foreign Language: She has a handful of voicelines that are spoken in Korean. Fitting, as she's a K-pop idol.
  • Mood-Swinger: An Informed Flaw, according to her Brawl Talk announcement. She seems pretty stable in-game.
  • Musical Assassin: She attacks using musical notes.
  • Reverse Shrapnel: The Monster Notes that spawn around Melodie act like this, orbiting her clock-wise and dealing damage to anything they touch.
  • Video Game Dashing: Catchy Chorus lets Melodie dash a fair distance and can uniquely be used thrice for every time her super is charged, but her super charge is reset if she dies or if a round ends in a round-based game mode.
  • Villain Song: Her song, Amplify This Melodie counts as one, thanks to Melodie's demon motifs and sinister personality.
  • With Catlike Tread: She has the unique disadvantage of being almost unable to hide inside bushes while she has notes orbiting her, as they give her away whevener they're not also hidden.
  • Years Too Early: One of her voicelines for defeating an enemy echoes this sentiment.
"See you when you grow up."

    Mico

Release Date: 14/12/2023
Alternate Skins: Macaron Mico, Grouch Mico, Wukong Mico, True Silver/Gold Mico

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mico_bs_full_body_3.png
"I'm the chimp champ, baby!"
Mico's the sound guy in Brawlywood, but one could be forgiven for thinking he's actually a celebrity given all the bragging and name-dropping. Hot-tempered and unstable, he cannot take a joke. Don't ever call him funny...

A Mythic Brawler, and part of the Brawlywood trio along with Lola and Gray. He's a sapient monkey and wannabe movie director who's in charge of the boom mic in Brawlywood's movie productions.

Possessing some of the best mobility in the game courtesy of his main attack and Super, Mico is a Brawler designed to annoy, harass, and overall distract the opposition with his unmatched agility and ability to constantly become invulnerable to harm, giving his teammates plenty of openings to focus on the objective of the match as long as Mico can keep the pressure up.

  • His Attack, Mic BOOM!, is a small hop that allows Mico to jump over obstacles and projectiles in front of him, dealing damage to everything around wherever he lands by swiping at them with his boom mic. This attack has the slowest reload speed in the game.
  • His Super, Out of Frame, makes Mico jump high into the air for six seconds after a 1-second wind-up, disappearing out of the screen. During this time, Mico will be completely invulnerable and his presence will be replaced with a target that gradually becomes bigger until Mico lands onto the ground, dealing damage and knocking enemies back around the landing area. Mico can move over the entire battlefield while his Super is active, can't land from it prematurely, and will still be able to heal up and recharge while in the air. If Mico is defeated, stunned, or knocked back during the wind-up before the jump, the Super will be lost.
  • His first Gadget, Clipping Scream, will make Mico scream at the nearest target in the form of three very fast projectiles shoot with a slight, fan-shaped spread. Each projectile deals 25% the damage of his main attack and will slow down enemies hit by them for 2 seconds. The slowing effect from multiple projectiles doesn't stack.
  • His second Gadget, Presto, will increase the range of Mico's next jump by 34%.
  • His first Star Power, Monkey Business, gives Mico a bar that charges every 5 seconds and, when full, will steal a full ammo bar from each opponent he hits with his next main attack.
  • His second Star Power, Record Smash, doubles the damage he deals against non-Brawler targets from both his main attack and Super.
  • His Hypercharge, Sound Check, will stun enemies caught in his Super for 1.5 seconds. He also gains 25% more damage, 24% more speed, and a 5% damage reduction shield.

  • Agitated Item Stomping: His defeat animation has him repeatedly slamming his boom mic against the ground in frustration.
  • Animal Facial Hair: His Macaron skin gives him a mustache while his Grouch and Wukong skins give him beards instead.
  • Big Ol' Eyebrows: Kinda hard to notice thanks to his glasses, but they are there.
  • Bouncing Battler: Mico's main attack allows him to bounce and jump all over the battlefield, letting him bypass obstacles and hunt down Brawlers pretty easily.
  • Edible Bludgeon: His boom mic gets replaced with a candy cane in his Grouch skin.
  • Evil Costume Switch: In his Grouch skin, which turns him into a green-skinned, red-eyed, horned Grinch.
  • Fragile Speedster: He's got a very fast movement speed and an unmatched mobility courtesy of his main attack, but is extremely fragile.
  • French Jerk: His Macaron skin gives him an stereotypical Parisian look while retaining his abrasive personality.
  • Fully-Dressed Cartoon Animal: He's a monkey who goes dressed as any other person.
  • Funny Animal: He's a sapient talking monkey who works in the production of movies.
  • Furry Reminder: One of his voicelines has him making monkey noises before returning to his normal voice.
"Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh! ...Woah, that was primal."
  • Glass Cannon: Mico has great damage potential, but while his mobility and evasiveness can make landing a hit onto him pretty difficult, once he's caught off-guard or runs out of ammo in a tight situation, he's going down pretty easily.
  • Gratuitous Foreign Language: His Wukong skin has him speak completely in Chinese.
  • The Grinch: Becomes a green-skinned, Christmas-wrecking creature in his Grouch skin.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: His description calls him a hot-tempered guy who can't take a joke or being called funny.
  • An Ice Person: Both his main attack and his Super release ice/snow upon landing in his Grouch skin.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Mico whacks people with his huge boom mic.
  • In a Single Bound: His Super involves Mico jumping so high into the air it takes him six full seconds to land, during which he can freely move around the battlefield to choose the victim of his Goomba Stomp.
  • Invulnerable Attack: Zigzagged with his Super; the ability can be interrupted during the wind-up phase, but after Mico gets up in the air, he cannot be affected by anything barring status effects until he hits the ground again.
  • Mana Drain: His Monkey Business Star Power gives him a bar that charges every 5 seconds and, when full, will steal a full ammo bar of each enemy he hits with his next main attack.
  • Maniac Monkeys: Downplayed. He's an abrasive and short-tempered monkey unable to take jokes, but doesn't seem to be outright evil or violent.
  • Monkey King Lite: In his Wukong skin, obviously.
  • The Paralyzer: His Hypercharge allows his Super to stun enemies caught in its radius for 2 seconds, letting Mico finish them off easily.
  • Punny Name: Mico is in charge of the boom mic in movie productions.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Situational Damage Attack: His Record Smash Star Power will double any damage he deals against non-Brawler entities. This includes pets, turrets, and even the Heist safe.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: Acts like a big shot Brawlywood director when he's really just the sound guy.
  • Stock Animal Diet: His Thanks pin depicts him happily eating a banana.
  • Super-Scream: His Crippling Scream Gadget has him screaming at the nearest target, dealing damage and slowing them down for 2 seconds.

    Mortis

Release Date: 15/06/2017 (Original)
Voiced by: Ed Mace
Alternate Skins: Top Hat Mortis, Rockabilly Mortis, Night Witch Mortis, Rogue Mortis, Beach Time Mortis, Mecha Mortis (Normal, Light, and Dark), Hockey Mortis, Gala Mortis, True Silver/Gold Mortis

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mortis_bs_full_body.png
"Have much fear, Mortis is here!"
Mortis had great designs built around being a mortician and a vampire, but the fact that nobody is dying at Starr Park has put a huge damper on his plans.

A Mythic Brawler, and part of the Mortuary trio along with Frank and Emz. He's an agile vampire gravedigger and owner of the Mortuary environment in Starr Park.

Mortis is a special kind of Assassin that possesses very low DPS and inability to hold his own against most close-range Brawlers, but makes up for it with his extremely fast attacks and agility that allows him to infiltrate enemy territory and shred squishy Brawlers to bits before they can even react, making him a very potent counter against Marksmen and Artillery Brawlers in particular.

  • His Attack, Shovel Swing, has Mortis dashing towards his targets and swinging at them with his shovel, passing through the enemy along the way. These swings deal low damage and have a long recharge time (the second longest in the game, in fact), but can be unloaded very quickly and the extra movement they provide make up for it. Additionally, Mortis possesses a Dash Bar that fully charges after not attacking for 4.5 seconds; once it gets full, Mortis's next basic attack will gain 2 extra tiles of range.
  • His Super, Life Blood, summons a horde of bats in a long straight line in front of him that ignore obstacles, damaging enemies and restoring Mortis' health for 125% of the damage dealt per enemy hit.
  • His first Gadget, Combo Spinner, has him spinning his shovel around him, striking nearby targets and dealing damage equal to his main attack.
  • His second Gadget, Survival Shovel, doubles his reload speed for 4 seconds, going for 2.4 to 1.2 seconds per ammo bar. This doesn’t affect his Dash Bar's charge duration.
  • His first Star Power, Creepy Harvest, allows him to restore 20% of his max health after defeating another Brawler.
  • His second Star Power, Coiled Snake, decreases his Dash Bar's charge time from 4.5 to 2.5 seconds.
  • His Mythic Gear, Bat Storm, increases the speed of his Super's bats by 50%.

  • '50s Hair: Gains a pompadour in his Rockabilly skin.
  • Ambiguously Related: To Chuck due to their almost identical appearance and their playstyle involve dashing.
  • Badass Cape: Sports one in his default appearance.
  • Badass Fingersnap: Does one in the victory animation of his Hockey skin.
  • Barrage of Bats: His Super has him call out bats to attack his opponent and recover some health. He even provides the page image.
  • Beach Episode: His Beach Time skin gives Mortis a full-body swimsuit, a pair of Cool Shades, and his shovel and lantern get replaced with a beach shovel and a bucket.
  • Bloodsucking Bats: Most likely the reason why his Super, which is a Barrage of Bats, has the property of restoring Mortis' health for every enemy it manages to hit.
  • Breakout Character: Much like Edgar above, Mortis is one of the most popular and recognizable Brawlers in the game (to the point he has maintained himself as the most played Brawler for quite some time, if official stats are anything to go by), and the developers have acknowledged said popularity by making him some sort of secondary mascot to the game. He even has his own theme from the Bad Randoms titled "Mortis Game".
  • Charged Attack: Mortis possesses a special "Dash Bar" that charges in 4.5 seconds as long as he isn't attacking, which will make his next dash get extra range and thus travel a longer distance.
  • Cool Shades: Gains a pair in his Beach Time skin.
  • Cool Sword: His shovel gets replaced with a sword both in his Rogue and his Mecha skins.
  • Cooldown Manipulation: His Survival Shovel Gadget will double Mortis' reload speed for 4 seconds. Considering how slow Mortis' main attack reloads in the first place, it's an extremely useful Gadget to have.
  • Dash Attack: Mortis' main attack is a piercing dash that makes him move forward and damage anyone who gets caught in his path along the way. Coupled with his already very fast speed, this makes of him an extremely agile Brawler who can chase pretty much whoever he wants.
  • Deadly Dust Storm: His Rogue skin replaces the bats from his Super with a sand tornado.
  • Didn't Think This Through: According to his description, Mortis had plans to become a great mortician... in Starr Park, a location where Nobody Can Die.
  • Difficult, but Awesome: Mortis is, as a whole, one of the hardest Brawlers in the game to play, let alone master. Between his average health, unreliable auto-aim, low damage per dash, and slow reload speed, an inexperienced Mortis will find it very difficult to contribute much to his team without dying a lot and feeding the enemy in the process, making anyone wonder why a Brawler with such seemingly low stats would even be an option in the first place. On the other hand, experienced players who are able to look beyond Mortis' weaknesses and give him an opportunity will find out that his top-tier mobility, non-existent unload time, and powerful Life Drain tools to keep himself alive in the middle of the battlefield can make of him an extremely dangerous treat capable of slowly but surely chipping away even the tankiest Brawlers and outright destroy squishier ones while simply refusing to die, turning him into a major headache for any enemy team in the right hands.
  • Domino Mask: Gains one in his Gala skin.
  • Facepalm: Does one in the defeat animation of his Rockabilly skin.
  • Fragile Speedster: He has a very fast movement speed while his health is fairly average and his attacks deal low damage.
  • Gender Swap: In his Night Witch skin, which turns him into the aforementioned troop from Clash of Clans.
  • Hockey Fight: His Hockey skin transforms Mortis into a hockey player who attacks with a hockey stick in place of a shovel.
  • An Ice Person: His Hockey skin throws ice whenever Mortis dashes in a direction or throws his Super.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Apart from using a shovel in his standard model, Mortis attacks with a toy shovel in his Beach Time skin, a giant comb in his Rockabilly skin, and a hockey stick/hockey puck in his Hockey skin.
  • Life Drain: Both his Super and his Creepy Harvest Star Power allow Mortis to recover health by damaging enemies, although the latter requires him to outright defeat them for it to take effect.
  • Meaningful Name: Fittingly for a gravedigger, mortis is the Latin word for death.
  • Ninja Log: He switches places with a log in the defeat animation of his Mecha skins, most likely as a Screw This, I'm Outta Here.
  • Our Vampires Are Different: He's a vampire who prefers to attack by smacking enemies with a shovel and throwing bats at them rather than sucking their blood.
  • Robot Me: Becomes a robot in his Mecha skin and all of its variations.
  • Rockabilly: The theme of his aptly named Rockabilly skin, which gives Mortis some '50s Hair and a leather jacket for him to move around.
  • Shock and Awe: In his Mecha skins, Mortis throws a ball of electricity instead of bats during his Super.
  • Shout-Out: His Night Witch skin is directly based on the troops of the same name from Clash of Clans.
  • Shovel Strike: Mortis' main attack consists of him dashing forward with his shovel to strike whoever he manages to hit with it.
  • Spin Attack: His first Gadget, Combo Spinner, has Mortis spinning his shovel around him to damage enemies close to him for the same amount his main attack does.
  • Sword Plant: He does this in both the win and defeat animations of his Rogue skin, the former intentionally while the latter accidentally.
  • Vampire Vords: He's got a subtle Slavic accent.
  • Virtual Paper Doll: To a slightly greater extent than other Brawlers; Mortis has the option to wear his hat via the Top Hat skin, which is permanently free and automatically unlocked by having him as a Brawler. While just a miniscule change (hence it being free), it is unique as an innate customization option for a Brawler.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: He and Frank are always fighting (mainly because of Mortis' selfishness and idiocy), but they still live and hang out together as shown in the "Mortis' Mortuary!" animation.
  • Who Dares?: A possible line of him when receiving damage.
  • Your Soul Is Mine!: Says this word-for-word as a possible line when defeating an enemy.

    Sam

Release Date: 05/09/2022
Voiced by: Joe French
Alternate Skins: Caesar Sam, Yeti Sam, Sam The Teddy, Dark Clown Sam, True Silver/Gold Sam

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sam_bs_full_body.png
"Time to hit them with the old one-two!"
A former factory worker turned wanted member of the Goldarm Gang, Sam is always there to ensure Belle doesn't go too far on their latest heist!

An Epic Brawler, and part of the Goldarm Gang trio along with Belle and Pearl. He's an old factory worker-turned criminal with a strong hate for robots and a strong love for Belle, his literal partner in crime.

Sam is a very aggressive Brawler who can make use of his particularly high health and constantly boosted speed to quickly get in front of his enemies and beat them to a pulp in a matter of seconds, but requires very careful aiming and full knowledge of the battlefield terrain to make the most out of his unorthodox kit for an Assassin.

  • Sam's special Trait allows him to start a match or respawn with a fully charged Super.
  • His Attack, Heavy Haymakers, throws two short-ranged punches in a wide cone in front of Sam. If Sam has his Knuckle Busters equipped, this attack will deal double the damage, spread in a wider cone, and unload and reload slower than if he doesn't have them on.
  • His Super, Knuckle Busters, throws his Knuckle Busters in front of him, piercing through enemies along the way before landing on the ground and boosting his speed for 2 seconds. Without his Knuckle Busters, Sam can charge his Super by either dealing damage to enemies or by picking them up from the ground; if the former is done, his Super will make his Knuckle Busters fly back to him, piercing through enemies along the way and damaging them for half the damage they do when leaving Sam's hands. The Knuckle Busters stay on the ground until Sam picks them up, they fly back to him, or when Sam is defeated or a round is over in a round-based game mode.
  • His first Gadget, Magnetic Field, will make enemies within a small radius around Sam's Knuckle Busters to be pulled into them and momentarily immobilized. Sam can only activate this Gadget if his Knuckle Busters are on the ground.
  • His second Gadget, Pulse Repellent, will make Sam's next Super to knock back enemies around his Knuckle Busters when they land. Sam can only activate this Gadget if he has his Knuckle Busters on.
  • His first Star Power, Hearty Recovery, allows Sam to heal 20% of his missing health whenever he picks up his Knuckle Busters from the ground.
  • His second Star Power, Remote Charge, allows Sam to remotely charge his Super as long as there are enemies near his Knuckle Busters, with each enemy recharging 10% of it for every second they remain close.

  • Achilles' Heel: Wallbreakers. While most close-range Brawlers tend to suffer in open maps with little to no walls, Sam is arguably the one who has it the hardest, as a lack of walls means that he'll have a lot of trouble throwing his Knuckle Busters without them going too far away for him to reliably pick up. And since Sam requires to constantly throw and pick his Knuckle Busters to benefit for the speed boost they provide and the healing from his Hearty Recovery Star Power, this makes it hard for him to function in an open map where throwing his Knuckle Busters may mean losing them altogether.
  • Ancient Rome: The motif of his Caesar skin, which turns Sam into a Roman emperor with wolf heads as his Knuckle Busters.
  • Attack! Attack! Attack!: Thanks to his Knuckle Busters giving him an speed boost every time he throws them, the arguably most effective strategy with Sam is to constantly pressure the opponent by storming their spawn as fast as possible and beat them to a pulp with barrages of punches and throwing his Knuckle Busters at them, not needing to care about sneakiness or evade attacks like most other Assassins thanks to his Tank-levels of HP that let him withstand enemy fire with impunity.
  • Awesome Aussie: Has a thick Australian accent, and is a big buff bandit.
  • Bald Head of Toughness: He only has a single tuft of hair on his otherwise bald head, and he's a badass, powerful Brawler.
  • Bear Trap: His Knuckle Busters are actually made out of bear traps with batteries attached to them.
  • Bigotry Exception: Despite being an avid robot hater, his own daughter Pearl happens to be one of these, implying he's made an exception for her.
  • Boxing Battler: He attacks by throwing punches at his enemies, and some of his voicelines have him talking as if he were in a box match.
[Upon being defeated] "I'll get you next round!"
    "Throwing in the towel!"
  • Bigfoot, Sasquatch, and Yeti: In his Yeti skin, which transforms Sam into a big bulky yeti who attacks using skulls.
  • Combat Compliment: In one of his lines when receiving damage.
"Nice one! I'll give you that."
  • Cool Old Guy: He's quite an old man, and is shown to be friendly as long as no one ticks him off.
  • Difficult, but Awesome: In general, Sam is a Brawler who requires a lot of foresight to be used at its full potential. This is because Sam's mechanics are mainly oriented towards him constantly throwing his Knuckle Busters to benefit from the speed boost they provide and the potential recovery from his Hearty Recovery Star Power as well, meaning that the player must always be spamming Sam's Super and making sure it lands somewhere safe for the Knuckle Busters to be picked up fast enough to continue with the cycle. Not only that, Sam also needs to be aware of enemy position at all times to constantly chase them out with said boosted speed while making sure to not lose the Knuckle Busters in the first place, meaning that even the slightest mistake can make him a sitting duck if the Knuckle Busters happen to fly too far away. Finally, as with other close-range Brawlers, Sam isn't a fighter that can be picked in any map, as he requires a lot of walls for him to reliably throw this Knuckle Busters in the first place, making him particularly weak against enemies who can destroy covers. If one manages to master all of these attributes and overcome his weaknesses, Sam can be an unstoppable juggernaut capable of wrecking the opposition without them being able to react, but if not, he's easily counterable.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Although he's a morally questionable criminal, Sam avoids hurting bystanders, as seen in his debut trailer when he puts himself and Belle at risk to avoid running over a woman stuck on the tracks.
  • Evil Old Folks: He's an old man who also happens to be part of a gang dedicated to stealing banks across The Wild West, making him quite non-heroic.
  • Exorcist Head: Does this in the winning animation of his Dark Clown skin.
  • Fantastic Racism: He really hates robots (except for Pearl) so much. His introduction animation even shows him beating the crap out of a testing robot.
  • Good Old Fisticuffs: He mainly attacks by punching his enemies in quick succession, with the damage, reload, and unload speed depending on whether he has his Knuckle Busters equipped or not.
  • Happily Married: He is married to Belle, and is shown to love her a lot too.
    "This one's for Belle."
  • Healing Factor: If he has the Hearty Recovery Star Power, Sam will recover 20% of his missing health each time he picks up his Knuckle Busters from the ground, making him quite hard to kill if he's constantly spamming his Super near a wall.
  • Horned Humanoid: Gains a pair of horns in his Yeti skin.
  • Killer Teddy Bear: His Sam The Teddy skin transforms him into a massive, adorable looking teddy bear, but that doesn't change his strength or aggression.
  • Large Ham: Between his naturally manly and loud voice coupled with his carefree attitude, Sam just loves to chew the scenery in his voicelines.
  • Lightning Bruiser: He's naturally fast, can boost his speed even further with the use of his Knuckle Busters, possesses Tank-levels of HP, and can easily pummel his enemies to bits with quick, powerful moves.
  • Magnetism Manipulation: With his Magnetic Field Gadget, Sam can create a magnetic area around his Knuckle Busters if they are on the ground, pulling nearby enemies towards them and effectively stunning them until the effect ends.
  • Manly Facial Hair: He's big, beefy, and sports a killer mustache that covers most of his face. His Caesar skin gives him a full beard for even more manliness.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: He's the only Brawler in the game who starts the match with his Super already charged, and can quickly get it back without even damaging the enemy by simply picking his Knuckle Busters from the ground. As a result, Sam can potentially spend the whole match using his Super much more than his main attack, a feat that only him and Chuck can naturally pull off.
  • Megaton Punch: With the Pulse Repellent Gadget, Sam can knock back enemies and send them flying if he throws his Knuckle Busters at them.
  • Monster Clown: His Dark Clown skin transforms Sam into a creepy circus clown who can turn his head 180 degrees.
  • Muscles Are Meaningful: He's one of the most visibly buff and muscular Brawlers in the game, and he's got a massive HP that even puts designed Tanks like Bull and Ash to shame while being equally powerful.
  • Named After Somebody Famous: He is named after Sam Starr, Belle Starr's husband.
  • Noodle Incident: Whatever happened to make him quit his factory job and turn to a life of crime has never been stated, but apparently, it was enough for him to develop a massive hate towards robots.
  • Outlaw Couple: With Belle, both being Happily Married members of the Goldarm Gang thieves.
  • Power Fist: His Knuckle Busters, being glorified, metallic boxing gloves made out of bear traps that improve the punching power of Sam's fists and can even throw them at the enemy as if they were projectiles.
  • Primal Chest-Pound: Does this in the win animation of his Yeti skin.
  • Racist Grandpa: Of the Fantastic Racism variety. In an universe with sentient robots who behave like regular human beings, Sam's hatred for all machines (except for Pearl) means he pretty much has a disgust for an entire race of Starr Park inhabitants.
  • Retired Badass: He's a former robot factory worker who retired to start a life of crime as part of the Goldarm Gang.
  • Rugged Scar: In his Caesar skin, Sam has a scar over his left eye.
  • Say My Name: He might say Belle's name as a defeat line.
  • Scary Teeth: Not only Sam gets sharp and pointy teeth in his Dark Clown skin, but said skin also replaces his Knuckle Busters with creepy-looking oversized dentures.
  • Situational Damage Attack: The damage from his main attack depends whether Sam has his Knuckle Busters equipped or not, dealing more damage but having a slower attack and reload speed if he does.
  • Skeletons in the Coat Closet: His Knuckle Busters become animal jaws in his Yeti skin.
  • Tattooed Crook: He's covered in tattoos in his Dark Clown skin, which turns Sam into a Monster Clown.
  • Useless Useful Spell: His Remote Charge Star Power. Not only is the Star Power vastly inferior to the utility Hearty Recovery can provide, but Sam is generally much better picking up his Knuckle Busters from the ground (or, if they're unreachable, charging them by attacking enemies) than waiting for them to charge automatically, as a Sam without his Knuckle Busters available is extremely weak if not outright useless. Even then, experienced Sam players know how to keep his Knuckle Busters near him at all times, making this Star Power's utility near non-existent.

    Stu

Release Date: 15/03/2021
Voiced by: Kai Skrotzki
Alternate Skins: Superstar Stu, Wicked Stu, Headless Rider Stu, Jock Stu, Santa Stu, True Silver/Gold Stu

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/stu_bs_full_body.png
"Safety last, ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!"
A little punch-drunk from too many bumps, bruises, and gasoline fumes over his long stunt performing career, Stu is a bit wobbly on his wheel these days.

An Epic Brawler, and part of the Stuntshow trio along with Janet and Bonnie. He's a robotic stuntman who, as a result of the many crashes and accidents endured over the years, seems to have turned a bit broken both physically and mentally. He's also Janet and Bonnie's adoptive father.

Stu has the potential to be one of the most agile and slippery Brawlers in the entire game in spite of his average moving speed, capable of crossing entire maps in mere seconds while evading every single enemy attack if the situation allows it, but requires pinpoint reflexes and, in a meta sense, very good ping connection to be used effectively.

  • His Attack, Razzle Dazzle, shoots two pyrotechnic fireworks from his fingers in quick succession and in a straight line, each one dealing damage and fully charging his Super in one hit, potentially allowing Stu to get two Supers from a single ammo bar.
  • His Super, Nitro Boost, makes Stu dash a bit forward in any desired direction, leaving a trail of burning rubber on the ground. Enemies who touch this trail are set on fire and take damage every second over 4 seconds, and touching it multiple times will reset the burning duration. The fire won't charge Stu's Super.
  • His first Gadget, Speed Zone, drops a turret that boosts the movement speed of Stu and his allies around it. The turret has 1000 health and decays 30 health per second, lasting up to 34 seconds if it doesn't take any damage. The speed boost doesn't affect spawnables.
  • His second Gadget, Breakthrough, allows Stu's next Super to break any walls it dashes into. In addition, for every wall tile destroyed, 3 pieces of non-piercing debris will fly forward in a cone-shaped formation, with each piece dealing 20% the damage of his main attack if it hits an enemy.
  • His first Star Power, Zero Drag, increases the distance traveled by Stu's Super by 77%.
  • His second Star Power, Gaso-Heal, allows Stu to heal for 10% of his maximum health every time he uses his Super.

  • Abnormal Ammo: Shoots Christmas presents in his Santa skin.
  • All-Ghouls School: The main theme of his Jock skin.
  • Badass Cape: Sports one in his default model.
  • Badass Santa: In his Santa skin.
  • Barrier-Busting Blow: His Breakthrough Gadget allows Stu's next Super to break any walls he collides with, sending damaging pieces of debris towards the enemy in the process. Useful for surprising unsuspecting Brawlers hiding from him behind cover.
  • Christmas Episode: His Santa skin turns him into a Badass Santa whose wheel gets replaced with a sled.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: While not outright crazy, it seems like the constant crashes and accidents Stu has endured over his life as a stuntman have left him a bit on the nutsy side, often spouting nonsensical quotes in the middle of the battle as a result.
"Do-Do-Doin' it for all the lonely c-a-ats out there!"
"Winners munch on Col-Col-Colt Crunch. It's spectacular!"
  • Cool Helmet: Just like his daughters, Stu sports a helmet as part of his stunt show attire.
  • Cyber Cyclops: He's a robot with only one eye.
  • Difficult, but Awesome: While Stu is a somewhat easy Brawler to play decently, mastering him is a whole different story. Not only he is one of the few Brawlers in the game who is widely agreed to need a flawless Internet connection to unleash its full potential, but said potential requires the player to have flawless reflexes and dexterity as well, since being able to continuously cycle Supers while dashing all over the battlefield in the desired direction is pretty much the main appeal of Stu's gameplay, letting him be an unkillable nuisance capable of kitting and distracting the entire enemy team while his own team pushes forward. While casual Stu players are often able to make him work in mid-level play, there's no doubt that master-level Stu players are on a whole different league than them.
    • On that topic, getting a double Super with Stu (that's it, gaining two Supers from a single ammo bar) is considered to be one of, if not the hardest feat a Stu player can achieve, requiring perfect coordination between tapping the attack and Super button as well as impeccable timing to repeatedly pull off. There's expert Stu players who can dash thrice in a row by hitting their three pieces of ammo, and then there's expert Stu players who can dash six times in a row doing the exact same thing.
  • Electronic Speech Impediment: Most likely as a result of the many accidents endured as a stuntman, Stu's voice tends to stutter and break a lot. Coupled with the metallic filter he has, it makes his voicelines quite hard to understand sometimes.
  • Evil Costume Switch: His Jock skin completely erases any of Stu's lovable traits to make him a stereotypical college Jerk Jock. He's also an evil gorgon, but that's less important.
  • Face Plant: In the defeat animation of his Jock skin, he faceplants after accidentally falling.
  • Fatal Fireworks: He mainly attacks by shooting fireworks from his fingertips.
  • Finger Firearms: Stu's fingertips also serve as fireworks launchers he can open up at will to attack.
  • Fragile Speedster: Stu has rather low health and average damage, but his mobility can be nearly unmatched thanks to his Super (which only requires one projectile to charge) being a dash.
  • Green and Mean: Becomes a green-colored snake in his Jock skin.
  • Headless Horseman: The theme of his Headless Rider skin, which replaces Stu's head with a pumpkin and gives him ghostly green Technicolor Fire for his attacks.
  • Healing Factor: If he has the Gaso-Heal Star Power, Stu will heal 10% of his maximum health every time he uses his Super. This, combined with the great mobility said Super provides him with in the first place, can make Stu nigh-impossible to kill without the whole enemy team focusing on him.
  • Horns of Villainy: His Jock skin, which turns him into a Jerk Jock, has horns.
  • An Ice Person: In place of fire, he leaves a trail of snow that frosts his opponents in his Santa skin.
  • Jerk Jock: His Jock skin turns him into a stereotypical American jock wearing a varsity jacket, and his arrogant-sounding voicelines, plus some official artwork depicting him bullying Nerd Squeak, make him quite of a jerk.
  • Losing Your Head: He loses his pumpkin head in the defeat animation of his Headless Rider skin.
  • Man on Fire: Enemies who step in the burning rubber left behind by Stu's Super will catch fire for 4 seconds.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: Stu is the only Brawler in the game who can charge his Super with only one projectile, as his gameplay mainly revolves around him constantly dashing with the use of his Super to hunt his enemies and evade attacks.
  • Nitro Boost: His Speed Zone Gadget creates a turret that boost allies' movement speed as long as they stay in the area around it.
  • One-Wheeled Wonder: Stu is a robot who, instead of feet, moves around with a single motorcycle wheel attacked to him. This leads to him leaving tire marks on the ground whenever he moves.
  • Poisonous Person: His Jock skin replaces the fireworks from his main attack with toxic goo shoot from his hand mouths.
  • Punk Rock: The theme of his Wicked skin, which is part of a punk band called the Bad Randoms along with Buzz and Poco.
  • Punny Name: Stu is a stunt robot.
  • Raised by Robots: He is Janet and Bonnie's adoptive father.
  • Shout-Out: Along with the rest of the Brawl Academy skins, his Jock skin is one to Monsters University.
  • Snakes Are Sinister: His Jock skin turns him into a monstrous-looking horned snake.
  • Sssssnake Talk: His Jock skin, which turns him into snake, replaces his usual stuttering with this instead.
  • Spikes of Villainy: His tail is covered in spikes in his Jock skin.
  • Technicolor Fire: The fire left behind by his Super becomes green-colored in his Headless Rider skin.
  • Too Many Mouths: His Jock skin has mouths on his hands, which he uses to attack by spitting green goo.
  • Tragic Robot: Not as heavy as other examples of this trope, but some of Stu's voicelines imply him to be depressed and aware of how broken he's become over his years as a stuntman.
    "Fa-a-ailure... Builds character."
"If only I could feel-feel-feel pain."
[After defeating an enemy] "Oh, you get used to it."
  • Video Game Dashing: Stu's Super consist of a rather short dash (whose distance can be greatly increased with the Zero Drag Star Power) he can constantly spam thanks to it charging with only one projectile, giving Stu great mobility as long as he can constantly hit the enemy.
