Controllers

Controllers primary skills are built around the idea of controlling specific areas of the map, either by shutting down areas proactively or reactively with Area of Effect abilities, allowing their team to take advantage of displaced enemy positions. Controllers typically have a fair amount of hitpoints and have a fair bit of variation between burst and sustained damage.

    Amber

Release Date: 23/10/2020
Voiced by: Leah Arscott
Alternate Skins: Amber de la Vega, Frost Queen Amber, True Silver/Gold Amber

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/amber_bs_full_body.png
Amber brings the heat, literally! She's overconfident about her fire abilities despite being a bit of a klutz. With her, it's spectacle first, and safety last.

A Legendary Brawler, and part of the Mexican Entertainers trio along with El Primo and Poco. She's a passionate but clumsy performer who works in Starr Park giving firebreathing shows.

Amber is a Brawler who can proactively prevent enemies from advancing down her line as long as she has ammo thanks to her unique mechanics, while her Super can be used to discourage enemies from stepping onto a certain area unless they want to risk getting burned to crisp.

  • Her Attack, Dragon's Breath, has her shoot a continuous barrage of piercing flames if the player holds the attack button, or only one at a time if the attack button is tapped instead. Amber only possesses a single "ammo" bar that recharges while not attacking, allowing her to shoot her fire whenever she wants as long as she has enough ammo.
  • Her Super, Torch 'Em!, has Amber throw a flask of fire fluid onto the ground, forming a rather sizable puddle that can be lit with her main attack. If any enemy stands on the puddle when it's ignited, they're set on fire for four seconds. Bushes can also be destroyed by the fire, and only one puddle can be present on the field at the time.
  • Her first Gadget, Fire Starters, lets Amber run faster for three seconds while spilling a puddle of fire fluid behind her, which functions identically as the puddle created by her Super.
  • Her second Gadget, Dancing Flames, has Amber spawn three orbiting flames around her for 5 seconds, with each one dealing 500% of the damage each of her individual flames deal if they hit an enemy, or 50% of the damage she deals per second.
  • Her first Star Power, Wild Flames, lets Amber have two fire fluid puddles from her Super simultaneously. This also allows Amber to recharge her Super automatically as long as she's standing near one of her puddles. The oil puddle from her Fire Starters Gadget won't count towards the oil puddle limit for this Star Power.
  • Her second Star Power, Scorchin' Siphon, makes Amber reload 50% faster while she's near one of her fire fluid puddles.
  • Her Mythic Gear, Sticky Oil, will make her oil puddles slow down enemies caught on them by 10%.

  • Ash Face: In her losing animation, Amber gets set on fire by her own fire fluid, turning her entire body black with ashes.
  • An Ice Person: Becomes one in her Frost Queen skin.
  • Barely-Changed Dub Name: She's Ambre in the French localization, and Ambra in the Italian localization.
  • Badass Cape: Her Amber de la Vega skin sports one.
  • Battle Amongst the Flames: Amber can enforce this if she focuses on setting the battlefield on fire while her teammates fight the opposing team. If both teams have an Amber, expect this trope to fully come into play.
  • Breath Weapon: Her main attack has Amber breathe a continuous barrage of flames to her opponents.
  • Blue Means Cold: Her Frost Queen skin changes her fire-like orange/yellow color palette to icy shades of blue.
  • Calling Your Attacks: One of her possible lines when using her main attack is "¡Fuego!", which literally translates to "Fire!"
  • Cooldown Manipulation: Both of Amber's Star Powers affect the recharge time of either her normal attack or her Super in some form, requiring her to stay near one of her fire fluid puddles for them to take effect.
  • Death of a Thousand Cuts: Each of her individual flames deal very low damage (the lowest damage-dealing main attack in the game, in fact), but its Spam Attack mechanic that allows Amber to shot a non-stop barrage of them in quick succession makes it as effective taking out targets as any other move in the game.
  • Domino Mask: In her Amber de la Vega skin.
  • Enemy Compassion: One of her possible lines when defeating an enemy is seemingly mocking and telling them to apply cold water to their burns... before clarifying she's serious and they should get it checked.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: Her top only covers one shoulder, and she has different accessories on each arm.
  • Fiery Redhead: Obvious Pun aside, Amber is a very excitable and passionate redhead fond of making (and often yelling) fire-related puns.
  • Flaming Sword: She carries one around in her Amber de la Vega skin.
  • Gratuitous Spanish: A good chunk of her voicelines are said in Spanish, which makes sense since she's a Spicy Latina.
  • Jack of All Stats: She has a very high damage output coupled with average HP and speed.
  • Kaizo Trap: Amber's fire fluid puddles don't instantly burn up entirely upon being lit; rather, the flames will spread forwards from the point she ignited the puddle until reaching the border(s). This means that, unless you carefully watch your step, a defeated Amber can still bring you down if she manages to ignite one of the oil puddles you're standing on while battling her.
  • The Klutz: When even her official description calls her "a bit of a klutz", you know this is expected. Her official animation, This is fine... shows her accidentally burning an entire stage and causing chaos in her own show... without her even noticing the mayhem she's provoked.
    • This even extends towards her victory animation, where she throws her torch into the air and does a pirouette before catching it with her left hand, setting her right hand on fire in the process. After that, she desperately puts out the fire and pretends nothing happened.
  • Man on Fire: Not her normal attack, strangely enough, but the fire fluid puddles from her Super and Fire Starters Gadget can set enemy players on fire if they stand on them when Amber ignites them.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: Among Brawlers who possess a single ammo bar, Amber stands out due to her ammo bar doubling as an Overheating meter that allows her to continuously fire a barrage of projectiles without any unload time as long as she has ammo stored, possessing a whopping 40 projectiles (more than ten times the average Brawler) and the longest recharging time in the game as a "cooldown" meter.
  • Meaningful Name: Amber is pronounced similarly to "Ember."
  • Nitro Boost: In addition to creating a fire fluid puddle behind her, her Fire Starters Gadget also boosts her speed for three seconds, allowing her to cover a larger area with oil more effectively.
  • No Body Left Behind: She disappears into nothingness in the defeat animation of her Frost Queen skin, implying she melted due to being made of ice.
  • Orbiting Particle Shield: Her Dancing Flames Gadget creates three flames that orbit around Amber for a few seconds, dealing considerable damage to anything that gets caught in the fire, making it a rather effective tool against Close Range Combatants.
  • Overheating: This is especially prominent with her, as she has a single ammo bar (contrary to the standard three most other Brawlers have) that continually goes down when holding down the attack button and recharges shortly after she stops attacking.
  • Playing with Fire: She's a firebreather who attacks by breathing fire towards her opponents using her torch.
  • Pungeon Master: A good chunk of her voice lines have Amber speaking with fire-related puns.
    "I'm a-blazing!"
    "Guess I'm flamous now!"
    "Burn voyage!"
  • Sadistic Choice: Her fire fluid puddles can incite this on foes if placed rather strategically (e.g. on obligatory pathways/corridors, chokepoints, or objectives like the Hot Zone). Do they advance through the puddle and risk being set ablaze by Amber for a slow death? Or do they try to find an alternate, lengthier path that puts them at disadvantage due to being more time-consuming?
  • Shout-Out: Her Amber de la Vega skin is a clear reference to Zorro.
  • Spam Attack: Arguably the best way to use Amber is to get an enemy in her range, then just hold the attack button until either they're burnt to crisp or she runs out of ammo.
  • Spicy Latina: Her trio implies she's of Mexican origin, and she is literally fiery.
  • Sticky Situation: Her Mythic Gear will slow down enemies caught in her oil puddles. It's a rather small percentage, but it can help burning her opponents if they happen to not be fast enough to escape from the puddle when Amber ignites it.
  • You Are Already Dead: Are you a Brawler with equal or slower speed than Amber, insufficient burst damage to quickly bring her down, and your HP is on the average side? Then you better make sure to not get caught up in her range, because she will burn you to crisp if she does, as the speed she can spam her main attack pretty much makes it impossible to get away from it unless some sort of escape tool (i.e. a Super or a Gadget) is used.

    Bo

Release Date: 15/06/2017 (Original)
Voiced by: Brian Stivale
Alternate Skins: Mecha Bo (Normal, Gold, and Light), Horus Bo, Underworld Bo, Warrior Bo, Ho Ho Ho Bo, Wasp Bo, Supreme Bo/Brother Bo, True Silver/Gold Bo

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bo_bs_full_body.png
"One breath, one shot."
Bo has survived in the Rumble Jungle for a long time. It's all the more impressive considering he's been using toys he got on sale from the Gift Shop.

An Epic Brawler, and part of the Shaman Tribe Trio along with Nita and Leon. He's a brooding jungle warrior that attacks using a bow and arrows. He's also Nita and Leon's stepfather.

Bo's main appeal is his ability to deploy invisible mines that can either surprise unsuspecting opponents for massive damage or make them waste time carefully deactivating the traps to avoid stepping onto them, forcing his enemies to tread carefully around Bo and be conscious of his presence at all times.

  • His Attack, Eagle-Eyed, fires a burst of 3 explosive arrows with a slight spread from left to right, dealing Splash Damage to enemies close to each other.
  • His Super, Catch a Fox, throws 3 mines onto the ground that can momentarily be seen by the enemy while being deployed before turning completely invisible. When enemies step near these mines, they will beep and flash for 1.15 seconds before exploding, dealing damage, destroying obstacles, and knocking enemies in the explosion radius.
  • His first Gadget, Super Totem, places a totem that lets Bo and his allies charge their Supers 50% faster in a medium-sized area around it. The totem has 1000 health and decays 50 health per second until it's destroyed.
  • His second Gadget, Tripwire, triggers all of his mines after a 1.5 second-delay. The mines are completely undetectable by opponents until their explosion.
  • His first Star Power, Circling Eagle, allows Bo to see enemies hidden in bushes up to 5 tiles instead of the usual 2. Allied Brawlers can also see enemies in the radius around Bo.
  • His second Star Power, Snare a Bear, replaces the knockback from his Super's mines with a 2-second stun instead. The stun from multiple mines does not stack, but can reset the duration.

  • Amazing Technicolor Population: His Supreme skin turns him into a blue-skinned human.
  • Animal Motifs: His clothing and weapons have eagle motifs. His Wasp skin changes it to (duh) wasp-themed instead
  • Badass Native: He's a powerful Brawler who employs mines and even some Super-Senses to combat his enemies, and his dialogue and mannerism have him acting like a stereotypical Native American warrior.
  • Badass Santa: His Ho Ho Ho skin turns him into one, giving him a beard and replacing his eagle hat with a reindeer one.
  • Big Red Devil: His Underworld skin transforms Bo into one of these, also replacing his eagle hat with a horned skull.
  • Cooldown Manipulation: His Super Totem Gadget places a totem that will increase Super charge rate of both Bo and his allies by 50% if they stay within its area of effect.
  • Cycle of Hurting: The most likely outcome after getting hit by one of his mines, as the Knockback will probably push you right onto another one. If Bo catches you in the middle of this, expect him to finish you off while you're just trying to not receive the explosion.
  • Delayed Explosion: His Tripwire Gadget turns all his mines undetectable and makes them explode after a 1.5 second delay.
  • Earthy Barefoot Character: He's a Nature Hero who lives in a jungle and goes entirely barefoot.
  • Enemy Compassion: When defeating an enemy, Bo may show respect and tell them he hopes they find peace.
  • Fatal Fireworks: His arrows explode into fireworks in his Supreme and Brother skins.
  • Graceful Loser: He's one of the few (if not the only) Brawler who doesn't make a fuss or threats towards his opponents nor reacts in a dramatic manner in any of his defeat lines.
"There is no end, only new beginnings."
  • Jack of All Stats: Bo has average speed and above average health and damage, though his utility tends to get unmatched thanks to the area denial his mines provide.
  • Land Mine Goes "Click!": His Super deploys three landmines that, when stepped on, will momentarily flash and make a loud beeping noise before exploding, giving players with sharp reflexes or Brawlers with Fast speed the opportunity to escape from the incoming explosion.
  • Macross Missile Massacre: His Mecha Bo skin replaces his arrows with missiles from his hands. If one unloads all 3 ammo bars at once, that's 9 missiles the enemy has to worry about.
  • My Little Panzer: According to his description, Bo's bow and arrows are actually toys he got from Starr Park's gift shop, which doesn't make them any less deadly. It probably helps said arrows have bombs attached to them.
  • Nature Hero: He's a Badass Native who lives in a jungle, goes entirely barefoot, has a couple of nature-themed voicelines (e.g. "The wind speaks to me," "Live strong, as the mountains."), and most of his moveset is named after animals. Fittingly, his mastery title happens to be "One with Nature."
  • Only Sane Man: With Nita being an unintelligible Wild Child and Leon a reclusive child with a heavy troublemaker streak, Bo stands out as the only remotely normal member of his trio/family.
  • The Paralyzer: His Snare a Bear Star Power will replace the Knockback from his mines with a 2-second stun instead. While this means the chances of an enemy being knocked onto another mine are now next to zero, this will also make it harder for the enemy to fight back against Bo and his teammates.
  • Prophet Eyes: His eyes are entirely white, lacking any irises.
  • Punny Name: Bo uses a bow as his weapon.
  • Robot Me: His Mecha skins turn him into a robot, with three distinct color variations: Normal (Orange), Gold (Golden), and Light (White).
  • Screaming Warrior: One of his possible lines when spawning is a loud yell.
  • Shameful Shrinking: In the defeat animation of his Underworld skin, Bo shrinks until he's the size of a mouse. Then gets crushed by his own bow.
  • Shout-Out: His Supreme skin is directly based on Rama, the main protagonist of Ramayana. Likewise, its Brother Palette Swap skin is based on Lakshmana, Rama's brother.
  • The Stoic: Bo doesn't denote a lot of emotion in his voice lines, only lightly grunting when he takes damage and generally speaking in a very calm tone.
  • Super-Senses: His Circling Eagle Star Power lets Bo see farther away inside bushes than other Brawlers, making enemy ambushes easier to avoid.
  • Tipis and Totem Poles: Fitting for a Badass Native, his Super Totem Gadget creates a totem capable of doubling the amount of Super charged for him and his allies while near it.
  • Trap Master: His Super deploys three hidden mines that activate once an enemy steps near them, though they can also be evaded if the enemy manages to get away before they explode. He can also remotely activate them with his Tripwire Gadget, making them unavoidable after 1.5 seconds.
  • Trick Arrow: Arrows with nothing other than dynamite attached to them.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: In is Warrior skin, Bo completely ditches his vest to go with him resembling an Aztec warrior.
  • Wicked Wasps: The theme of his Wasp skin, which dresses him in wasp-like attire and transforms his mines into honey pots.

    Charlie

Release Date: 06/11/2023
Voiced by: Elsa Pérusin
Alternate Skins: Amazing Charlie, Rosie Charlie, Virus Charlie, True Silver/Gold Charlie

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/charlie_bs_full_body_5.png
"Let the carnival of carnage begin!"
Itsy bitsy Charlie
Put on a crazy show
She let down her hair
And made off with all your dough
In came the crowd
It filled up the circus tent
So Charlie weaved away while
Taking every cent!

A Mythic Brawler, and current known member of the Bizarre Circus trio. She's a spider-obsessed, former street urchin who was taken in by the Bizarre Circus after her abilities were discovered by them, quickly becoming their main attraction. As to what these abilities entail... well...

Charlie is a Brawler designed to be as much as possible of an annoyance and a distraction towards the enemy team, having means of non-lethally taking out key targets with the use of her Super to force foes rescue their trapped companions or use her spawnables to harass opponents while her own team pushes forward.

  • Her Attack, Yo-Yo, has Charlie using her hair as a yo-yo, sending it forward until it collides with an enemy, a wall, or it reaches max distance before returning to her, meaning that she will be able to attack faster the closer she's to an enemy. Charlie's yo-yo can't go through enemies on the way forward, only on the way back. Charlie only possesses a single ammo bar, so she must wait for her yo-yo to return before she can attack again.
  • Her Super, Cocoon, throws a spider silk-like hair that, upon hitting an enemy Brawler, will leave them wrapped in a cocoon and unable to take any kind of action such as moving or healing, effectively taking them out of the match. This cocoon has relatively high health, decays by 20% of its maximum health every second (lasting up to 5 seconds), and can be attacked by the victim's allies to make it break faster. Charlie can only have one active cocoon at the time, meaning the first one will despawn is she traps another enemy Brawler with her Super.
  • Her first Gadget, Spiders, releases three spiders in a triangular formation around Charlie that chase down and damage the nearest target. These spiders have roughly 16.67% of Charlie's maximum health each, deal half the damage Charlie deals with her main attack in front of them every second, and decay 10% of their health every second, lasting up to 10 seconds if they don't take any damage.
  • Her second Gadget, Personal Space, traps Charlie inside of a cocoon for 5 seconds, protecting her from all damage but preventing Charlie from taking any kind of action. This cocoon has the same health as her Super, decays 20% of its maximum health every second, and can still be attacked by enemies. Once the cocoon breaks and Charlie comes out, she'll be healed for 50% of her maximum health.
  • Her first Star Power, Digestive, will damage enemies for 25% of their current amount of health when they break free from her Super.
  • Her second Star Power, Slimy, will make Charlie's Super leave a slimy trail on its way when she shoots it, slowing down enemies who step on it. This trail lasts for 5 seconds and will still appear even if Charlie misses her Super.
  • Her Hypercharge, Pestilence, spawns three spiders in a triangular formation around cocooned enemies with the same health, damage, and range as her Spiders Gadget. She also gains 25% more damage, 26% more speed, and a 5% damage reduction shield.

  • All Webbed Up: Her Super involves Charlie trapping her opponents in a cocoon made out her own hair, leaving them trapped for a few seconds or until the cocoon is destroyed by their teammates. The Bizarre Circus Spectacle! also shows her doing this to her fellow performers at the circus.
  • Animal Motifs: Spiders, obviously.
  • Anime Hair: Her hair is shaped to look like a spider, with her bangs as the head and her bun looking like an abdomen. Doubles as Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance.
  • Badass Cape: Sports one designed after a spiderweb.
  • Circus Brat: She's a former Street Urchin performer who became the main attraction of the bizarre circus after being discovered by them.
  • Defend Command: Her Personal Space Gadget traps Charlie in a cocoon for 5 seconds, protecting her from all damage until she breaks free from it. This cocoon can be prematurely destroyed if enemies attack it, however.
  • Eaten Alive: Not a conventional example, but her Digestive Star Power implies opponents caught in her cocoon suffer from this, as they'll be damaged by 25% of their maximum damage upon breaking free from it.
  • Everything Sounds Sexier in French: Oh yes.
  • Fascinating Eyebrow: Her default model (which also serves as her page image) depicts her with one of these.
  • Gratuitous French: She's a French woman who often speaks full sentences in French in a chunk of her voicelines.
  • Heal Thyself: A secondary effect of her Personal Space Gadget is healing Charlie for 50% of her maximum health upon being released from her cocoon.
  • Irisless Eye Mask Of Mystery: Uses one in her Amazing skin.
  • Jack of All Stats: Charlie has normal speed, average hit points, and an acceptable damage output that can be increased if she manages to get close to an enemy to spam her main atack.
  • Killer Yo-Yo: Her main attack is basically this, returning to Charlie upon reaching maximum range, hitting an enemy, or colliding with an obstacle, damaging anything caught on the way back.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Not only is Charlie noticeably curvier than most other female Brawlers in the game, but she's also the only one to have a visible, exposed cleavage. Even her official animations and artwork tend to feature her in rather suggestive angles. Her French accent doesn't hurt, either.
  • Plant Person: Her Rosie skin turns her into one, attacking with a roll made out of petals and replacing her cocoons with roses.
  • Prehensile Hair: She uses her own hair to swing it like a yo-yo at her enemies. Her official artwork/animations and both her win and defeat animations show she can also use it like a rope to climb around.
  • Projectile Kiss: Both her icon and the Bizarre Circus loading screen show her doing one of these.
  • Seductive Spider: Her spider Animal Motif is combined with her being a Ms. Fanservice. As mentioned above, she's also rather fond of giving Projectile Kisses.
  • Scary Teeth: Her teeth are sharp and pointy, although they're only visible in her pins.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Her defeat animation has Charlie using her hair as a rope to climb towards the ceiling, leaving the scene in shame.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Spider Swarm: Both her Spiders Gadget and her Hypercharge summon a bunch of spiders that chase down the nearest enemy and deal damage.
  • Spiders Are Scary: She's got a spider Animal Motif, is a performer in a Circus of Fear, and has a rather mischievous personality.
  • Street Urchin: Her introduction claims she used to be a performer who lived in the streets before being taken in by the Bizarre Circus to serve as their main attraction.
"Straight from the streets with zero defeats!"
  • Sticky Fingers: Her official description and a bunch of extra material suggest this is her specialty, making use of her circus act (and most likely her looks too) as a distraction to steal money from the circus guests.
"Watch the string! I'll take your bling."note
  • Sticky Situation: Her Slimy Star Power will create a sticky trail behind her Super, slowing down enemies caught in it.

    Emz

Release Date: 23/10/2019
Voiced by: Sandra Espinoza
Alternate Skins: Mean Girl Emz, Super Fan Emz, DJ 3.M.Z, Harajuku Emz, True Silver/Gold Emz

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/emz_bs_full_body.png
"Hashtag I'm so gonna win everything."
Emz supposedly works for her uncle Mortis at the mortuary, but she rarely makes an appearance there. She's too busy hawking her hairspray brand online.

An Epic Brawler, and part of the Mortuary trio along with Mortis and Frank. She's a social butterfly mummy that attacks with her own homemade hair spray.

Emz is a Brawler who benefits from engaging in Hit-and-Run Tactics thanks to her attacks possessing a lingering effect and her Super slowing enemies down, allowing her to continuously blast the opposition away and prevent them from advancing behind the protection of a cover.

  • Her Attack, Spray, is a puff of hairspray that constantly damages anyone caught in the mist. Depending in what area of the spray they enemy is standing on, they'll take different amounts of damage ticks: one right in front of Emz, two at the very end of the cloud, or three in the middle of it.
  • Her Super, Caustic Charisma, creates a damaging aura in a large circular area around Emz that slows enemies down. Her Super lasts 5 seconds and can’t be interrupted by stuns, pulls, or knockbacks.
  • Her first Gadget, Friendzoner, pushes back all enemies around her while also dealing 65% of her main attack damage.
  • Her second Gadget, Acid Spray, allows her next attack to pierce through walls at the cost of a 10% damage penalty.
  • Her first Star Power, Bad Karma, causes enemies to take 25% more damage for each tick of damage they spend inside of her main attack's cloud.
  • Her second Star Power, Hype, allows her to heal 8% of her maximum health per second for every enemy inside her Super's range, capping at 40% maximum health regained for each opponent.

  • Achilles' Heel: Emz's main weakness is arguably the pathetic damage she deals up close, as enemies who manage to get right on her face will only receive a single tick of damage from her hairspray cloud, making her particularly weak against the premier Close Range Combatants of the game, Assassins and Tanks. She can somewhat remedy this with her Friendzoner Gadget, but its limited amounts will force Emz to play carefully around them.
  • Acid Attack: Her hairspray seems to be made of acid, as it's apparently "strong enough to melt your face."
  • All-Ghouls School: The theme of her Mean Girl skin.
  • Alpha Bitch: In her Mean Girl skin.
  • Area of Effect: Her Super creates a large toxic cloud around herself for her Super, damaging all enemies caught in its path while also slowing them down.
  • Armor-Piercing Attack: Or rather Wall-Piercing Attack, as her Acid Spray Gadget can make her next move pass through them at the cost of some damage.
  • Attention Whore: Her voicelines primarily consist of her praising herself, mocking her enemies for being lesser, and demanding views and upvotes.
  • Cute Monster Girl: Emz is a pretty teenage mummy zombie, helped by the fact she's only slightly covered by her bandages. Goes doubly so for her Mean Girl skin, which gives her horns and is part of a skin set based on monsters attending a high school.
  • Deadly Gas: Of the acidic hairspray variety, no less.
  • Dub Name Change: In the French localization, her name is Eliz@.
  • Dumb Blonde: Her Mean Girl skin swaps her purple hair color for a blonde one, and the Brawl Academy loading screen shows her getting an F on a test.
  • Expressive Mask: Her DJ 3.M.Z. skin uses a helmet with a pixelated screen mounted on the front, displaying various expressions and words with it.
  • Fangirl: In her Super Fan skin, she dressed in various Starr Shop merchandise featuring multiple Brawlers.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: Her hairstyle only covers half of her head, and she wears a single earring on the other side.
  • Gyaru Girl: The theme of her Harajuku skin, whose namesake, Harajuku, refers to a Tokyo district known for its youth culture and fashion.
  • Homemade Inventions: According to her description, her hairspray (which also serves her weapon) was created by Emz herself.
    "Try some Zom-bie, by me!"
  • Hit-and-Run Tactics: These work well for her due to her toxic clouds acting as traps that linger in the air for a few seconds. Thanks to this, Emz can comfortably sit behind a wall and periodically peek through a corner to blast her attack in the desired direction, preventing enemies from advancing lest they want to choke in a puff of hairspray.
  • Improbable Weapon User: She attack enemies using a can of hairspray which, as the description puts it, is strong enough to melt your face. Just how much chlorofluorocarbon is in that thing?
  • Jack of All Stats: Despite being a zombie-mummy hybrid, Emz isn't actually that fragile, and her attacks can deal good damage as long as she can properly position herself when blasting her enemies.
  • Life Drain: Her Hype Star Power recovers her health by 8% for each tick of damage she inflicts onto another Brawler with her Super. The healing from multiple objectives can even stack, making her nigh immortal if she's damaging a whole team at once.
  • Long-Range Fighter: Played With. Emz has an average range that puts her way above Close Range Combatants (but not on the same level as Marksmen); however, her attack's unique mechanic actually makes attacking at max distance not the best option for Emz, as it'll only deal two ticks of damage as opposed to hitting a target at medium distance, which deals three, forcing Emz to stay not too close but also not too far from her enemies to make the best out of her attacks.
  • Mummy: She is an undead who is wrapped in gauze, more or less making her this. She sure doesn't act like one, though.
  • Musical Assassin: Her DJ skin shoots stars that turn into musical notes for her main attack. Her Super also takes the appearance of a dance floor.
  • Phoneaholic Teenager: She's always carrying a cellphone she uses to constantly take photos of herself in her winning (and sometimes losing) animations. A lot of her voicelines also have Emz using social media terms, such as asking for likes or mentioning hashtags.
  • Pointy Ears: She has them.
  • Poisonous Person: If the stuff inside her hairspray is strong enough to deal damage (or melt one's face, as the description claims), it's probably very poisonous or at least Hollywood Acidic, making her this.
  • Ridiculously Alive Undead: She's a mummy who's very much part of The Undead, but acts like any other Valley Girl obsessed with social media.
  • Scary Teeth: Her teeth are pointy and sharp.
  • Scratch Damage:
    • Her main attack deals pitiful damage up close, with enemies only receiving a single tick of damage from her spray.
    • Her Super deals very low damage, as its main purpose is slowing enemies down for Emz to reliably blast with her main attack and prevent them from healing.
  • Selfie Fiend:
    • As a vain Phoneaholic Teenager, it'd be impossible for her not to be one. Her default winning animation even has Emz snapping a couple selfies of herself.
    • Her Super Fan skin exaggerates this tendency, giving her phone a selfie stick, rapid-fire posing for selfies during her winning animation, and defeatedly taking one during her losing animation.
  • Ship Tease: Gets some of this with Poco in promotional material. Willow's introduction video even shows them taking a ride through the Tunnel of Love together. In-game, Poco's face is displayed on her phone screen.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The victory animation of her Harajuku skin has her performing a dance that heavily resembles Wednesday Addam's memetic dance. The skin's introduction even mentions how she "dances with her hands."
    • Along with the rest of the Brawl Academy skins, her Mean Girl skin is one to Monsters University.
  • Situational Damage Attack: The poison cloud from her main attack deals damage depending on where the enemy is standing when receiving the blast: one hit in front of Emz, two at the end of the cloud, and three right in the middle of it.
  • Valley Girl: She fits this trope to a T. She's a shallow teenage girl who uses "like" all the time and has the speech pattern to match.
  • Visual Pun: She's an Attention Whore, and she's a Mummy, which means that she's wrapped up in gauze. She's wrapped up in herself.
  • Wrong Line of Work: She supposedly works for her uncle Mortis at the latter's mortuary, but Emz would rather spend her time online advertising her own homemade hairspray.

    Gale

Release Date: 13/05/2020
Voiced by: Dean Compoginis
Alternate Skins: Merchant Gale, Nutcracker Gale, Squeakbuster Gale, True Silver/Gold Gale

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gale_bs_full_body.png
"I may be slow, but I can sure make it snow!"
Gale's job is to use his snowblower to clear the areas around Mr. P's Snowtel. Nobody mentioned anything about stopping when the guests were around...

An Epic Brawler, and part of the Snowtel trio along with Mr. P and Lou. He's an old, tired handyman who works for Mr. P in the Snowtel with his trusty snowblower.

Gale is a Brawler strictly designed to keep enemies away from him and make it extremely hard for most Brawlers to approach objectives alike, making of him one of the premier counters to close-range Brawlers such as Assassins and Tanks.

  • His Attack, Polar Vortex, fires a row of 6 snowballs from his snowblower in a straight and wide line, each one dealing rather low damage. Due to this attack's width and spread, it's impossible to hit a Brawler with all 6 snowballs at once, even if Gale is firing them at point-blank. However, objectives with large hitboxes such as the Heist safe are except from this.
  • His Super, Gale Force!, shoots a massive blast of wind capable of passing through walls and obstacles. Enemies hit by this attack receive rather low damage, but will be pushed away to the furthers point of the wind blast's range or until they hit a wall.
  • His first Gadget, Spring Ejector, spawns a launch pad at Gale's feet in the direction he's currently facing. These launch pads can be used by both allies and enemies, be hidden inside bushes, and last indefinitely or until another round starts in any round-based game mode, but their launching power is cut in a half compared to regular launch pads. Gale can only have one launch pad on the field at the time, so using it again will make the previous one disappear.
  • His second Gadget, Twister, summons a small tornado over Gale that pushes enemies away for 5 seconds, effectively blocking the path for them until the tornado goes away. Gale can only have one tornado on the field at the time, so using it again will make the previous one disappear.
  • His first Star Power, Blustery Blow, will stun enemies for 1.25 seconds if they're pushed against an obstacle by Gale's Super.
  • His second Star Power, Freezing Snow, slows down enemies for half a second if they are hit by Gale's main attack.

  • An Ice Person: His primary attack consists of him shooting snowballs at his targets.
  • Big Ol' Eyebrows: Gale stands out as having the most prominent brows out of the entire roster. They're even visible through his hat!
  • Blow You Away: His Super consists of Gale blowing a massive barrage of wind that, while weak, will push enemies towards the blast's furthest point, making it an effective tool for keeping foes away and disengage from any Close Range Combatants that may have closed the gap between them and Gale.
  • Blue Means Cold: He's An Ice Person who works in a Christmas-themed, frozen hotel, and his janitor outfit is primarily blue.
  • Cool Old Guy: Pun aside, Gale is a kind and easygoing senior citizen with a really mellow attitude, a far cry from other elderly characters such as Byron, Belle, or Sam who cross into the Evil Old Folks territory.
  • Dub Name Change: In the Italian localization, his name is Gelindo. On the other hand, in the French localization he's called Gaël.
  • Edible Ammunition: His Nutcracker skin shoots nuts for his main attack.
  • Expressive Accessory: His hat will change expressions to match Gale's in his various pins.
  • Eyes Always Shut: Never seen without his eyes closed, not even when being scared by a Ghost Squeak in his Squeakbuster skin.
  • Feeling Their Age: He's old, works an assumedly difficult job at being a hotel janitor, and his voice is noticeably quieter and slower than other senior Brawlers, implying age is catching up with him.
[Upon being defeated] "I'm just gonna rest here for a minute."
  • Gag Nose: He has a noticeably big, red-colored nose that adds to his somewhat cartoony design.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: Tends to respond with these in some of his voicelines upon receiving damage or being defeated.
    "Dagnabbit!"
    "Ah shoot!"
  • Handy Man: He's an easygoing senior who works as a handyman and janitor in the Snowtel.
  • Harmless Freezing: His Freezing Snow Star Power will slow down enemies caught in his main attack for half a second, which is represented by them turning blue-colored as if they were frozen.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Interestingly, both of Gale's Gadgets can also be exploited by enemies for multiple purposes, as his Spring Ejector Gadget can be used regardless of who walks into it, while the Knockback from his Twister Gadget will make enemies temporarily airborne, which they can exploit as means of evading projectiles/attacks by repeatedly walking into the vortex.
  • Improbable Weapon User:
    • His main weapon is a snowblower he uses to shoot snowballs.
    • His Merchant skin attacks with a woven basked that throws sand.
  • Intrepid Merchant: The theme of his Merchant skin, which is modeled after a Bazaar of the Bizarre merchant carrying around a woven basket with a snake inside.
  • Jack of All Stats: Pretty good HP for an old man and a rather decent damage output for a snowball blower, but average speed.
  • Meaningful Name: A gale is a very strong wind, much like Gale's Super.
  • Mellow Fellow: He's a very kind and easygoing old man who never seems to lose his cool, only reacting with mild annoyance when receiving damage/being defeated.
  • Miniature Senior Citizens: Compared to other Brawlers of his age, Gale is very short, barely reaching the height of explicitly child Brawlers such as Nita or Gus.
  • The Paralyzer: His Blustery Blow Star Power will momentarily stun enemies who are pushed onto a wall by Gale's Super. He can even potentially stun-lock them if he manages to quickly cycle through his Supers while they're still immobile.
  • The Real Spoofbusters: The theme of his Squeakbuster skin, which is crearly inspired by Ghostbusters. Topped off with Night-Vision Goggles and his snowblower becoming what resembles the Ghost Sucker.
  • Sand Blaster: His Merchant skin replaces the snowballs from his main attack with balls of sand instead.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Slow and Steady Wins the Race: Says this word-by-word as a spawning line.
  • Snake Charmer: His Merchant skin carries around a snake inside the basket he uses to attack. Its winning animation also has Gale making the snake dance by playing a flute.
  • Soul Power: He shoots ghosts in his Squeakbuster skin, which are designed after Squeak's Ghost skin.
  • Spring Jump: His Spring Ejector Gadget will summon a launch pad at Gale's feet, which he, his teammates, and even his enemies can use as any other regular launch pad in the game, albeit with slightly less range.
  • Tornado Move: His Twister Gadget summons a harmless tornado where Gale is currently standing, which will push enemies who attempt to walk through it for a few seconds.

    Gene

Release Date: 15/02/2019
Alternate Skins: Pirate Gene, Evil Gene, Swamp Gene, Dark Samurai Gene, True Silver/Gold Gene

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gene_bs_full_body.png
Most people look at Gene and see a funny little guy in a costume. What they don't see is that his personality is split between his body and his teapot.

A Mythic Brawler, and part of the Mystic Wanderers trio along with Tara and Sandy. He's a genie carrying a sentient lamp called Lampy and whose voicelines mostly consist in him laughing maniacally and unintelligible gibberish.

Despite his low damage output, Gene can be an invaluable ally or a major annoyance thanks to his support-like capabilities that allow him to prevent enemies from healing up, escape, or kill his allies, using his chip damage to slowly but surely wear down the enemy for his team.

  • His Attack, Smoke Blast, shoots a ball of smoke from Gene's lamp that, if it doesn't hit an enemy after travelling for a while, will split into 6 smaller projectiles that spread out in a cone and travel for an additional distance equal to the initial shot. The damage and Super charge from the complete smoke ball will be split across these 6 projectiles.
  • His Super, Magic Hand, shoots a smoke hand that passes through obstacles and travels a fairly long distance. If an enemy Brawler or an spawnable is grabbed by this hand, they will be pulled towards Gene while destroying all obstacles in its path, though they won't receive any damage from it. Grabbed enemies won't be able to attack until they free themselves from Gene's Super, but Gene and his teammates will still be able to deal damage to enemies in the process of being dragged.
  • His first Gadget, Lamp Blowout, pushes away all enemies in a small radius around Gene. If an enemy Brawler is successfully pushed by this Gadget, Gene will also recover 10% of his max health.
  • His second Gadget, Vengeful Spirits, has Gene shoot spirits that act like homing missiles, targeting and chasing all visible enemies until the spirit either hits them or a wall. These spirits deal varying damage depending on how far they travel, with the minimum being 20% of Gene's non-split attack damage and the maximum 80% of it.
  • His first Star Power, Magic Puffs, heals allies in a small radius around Gene 8% of his maximum health every second. This effect doesn't affect Gene or spawnables.
  • His second Star Power, Spirit Slap, lets Gene's Super deal damage on contact. The damage dealt will be equal to one of Gene's non-split shots.
  • His Mythic Gear, Talk to the Hand, adds an extra tile of range to Gene's Super.
  • His Hypercharge, Hyper Hands, splits his Super into three different hands that can each grab a different enemy, with the first hand going straight and the other two at diagonal angles. He also gains 26% more speed, 25% more damage, and a 5% damage reduction shield.

  • Amazing Technicolor Population: He has purple skin.
  • Ambiguously Human: His description implies he might just be a guy in a costume instead of the mystical being he presents himself as.
  • Animate Inanimate Object: His lamp/teapot appears to be as alive as any other Brawler, showing emotions when either winning or losing. Gene's Angry pin also shows the lamp itself becoming angry instead of Gene himself.
  • Attack Animal: He attacks with some sort of fish/swamp creature in his Swamp skin, which shoots tadpoles for his main attack and a giant bass-looking fish for his Super.
  • I Call It "Vera": His lamp is affectionately named Lampy.
  • Death of a Thousand Cuts: Thanks to its relatively short range and thin hitbox, hitting an enemy with Gene's non-split main attack may occur just a handful of times over the course of a match. However, the longer range of his Spread Shots means Gene can reliably chip enemies' health from a distance and prevent them from ever healing up, slowly but surely poking them to death with Scratch Damage or leave them weakened enough for his teammates to finish off.
  • Death or Glory Attack: His Super. Widely agreed to be one of the most powerful and game-changing Supers in the whole game, a perfectly timed Gene hand against the right target (e.g. the opposing team's gem carrier in Gem Grab, or a foe with lots of stars in Bounty) can often mean the difference between winning or losing. On the other hand (pun not intended), its rather unimpressive hitbox, travel speed not enough to keep up with fast Brawlers, and how slow the process of charging one back from scratch is due to Gene's Spread Shot mechanic means that, if missed, then Gene's contribution to the whole match up to that point might as well been rendered moot, forcing him to play carefully around his pulls to make the best out of his potential.
  • Dub Name Change: He's called Eugênio in Portuguese, and Genio in Spanish.
  • Giant Hands of Doom: His Super is a giant hand Gene summons from his lamp to try catch and pull an enemy towards him and his team. The hand can become even more doomy if he has the Spirit Slap Star Power, as it'll deal a rather sizable amount of damage to anything it catches.
  • Homing Projectile: His Vengeful Spirits Gadget shoots spirits that act like these, with each objective in Gene's line of vision spawning a spirit that will chase them down until the target is hit or the spirit collides with an obstance.
  • Improbable Weapon User: If his description is to be believed, Gene's magic lamp is actually a teapot that somehow acquired sentience and the ability to attack.
  • Jackass Genie: His Evil skin removes all of his lovable and goofy qualities and turns him into a demonic-looking genie who attacks with flames. His voice even gets a filter that makes it sound creepy.
  • Literal Split Personality: His personality is stated to be divided between his body and his floating teapot/lamp, which occasionally displays emotion.
  • The Medic: Can potentially become this with the Healing Puffs Star Power, as Gene will heal allies around him each second as long as they remain close.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: His Spirit Slap Star Power. It isn't a bad ability by any means, as adding some hefty offense to a powerful Super that otherwise deals no damage can help Gene and his teammates confirm kills much more easily. However, Magic Puffs, which is a Star Power that functions throughout the whole match instead of requiring Gene to connect his rather inaccurate and difficult to charge Super and pretty much turns him into a mobile healing station for his teammates, is generally seen as a much better option for him in team-based modes.
  • Pirate: In his Pirate skin, where Gene (and his lamp too) gets an eyepatch, a Hook Hand, a Seadog Peg Leg, and his Super becomes a giant hook.
  • Situational Damage Attack: The damage from his Vengeful Spirits Gadget becomes stronger the more the projectiles travel before hitting an enemy.
  • Spread Shot: His main attack consists of a projectile that will split into six smaller projectiles after traveling for a while, each one dealing a sixth of the damage the first one would've inflicted but covering a much more wider area.
  • Stone Wall: He's got above average HP and tools to discourage enemies from coming close to him or his team, but low damage output courtesy of his Spread Shot mechanic.
  • Swamp Monster: The theme of his Swamp skin, which turns him into a green-colored swamp creature who attacks with bog animals.
  • The Unintelligible: All of his voicelines have him speaking in gibberish that roughly sound as if he's always laughing.
  • You Will Not Evade Me: The main purpose of his Super is dragging whatever enemy he's grabbed all the way towards him, leaving them defenseless against Gene and his team.

    Griff

Release Date: 23/07/2021
Voiced by: Roger Addis
Alternate Skins: Sleigher Griff, High Score Griff, Sunken Chest Griff, True Silver/Gold Griff

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/griff_bs_full_body.png
"Another day? Another dollar!"
Griff acts like a rich, successful entrepreneur, but his only business is the falling Starr Park Gift Shop. Oddly, he's never around when the bank calls.

An Epic Brawler, and part of the Gift Shop trio along with Colette and Edgar. Griff is the greedy proprietor of the gift shop in Starr Park and Colette and Edgar's rather unpleasant boss.

Griff is a Brawler characterized for its raw, almost unmatched damage at close range that becomes less precise at long distances, but makes up for it with the width of its attacks making for an effective zoning tool when fighting from afar.

  • His Attack, Coin Toss, shots a 3-wave salvo of 3 coins each that spread out in a cone, making it more effective up close. The full attack takes a whole second to complete.
  • His Super, Cashback, throws 5 sharp-edged banknotes forward in a wide cone that later return to him after spinning in place for 1 second, dealing more damage the farther they travel and possibly hitting the same target twice. The banknotes can travel through obstacles when returning, but not while being thrown.
  • His first Gadget, Piggy Bank, drops a firecracker-filled piggy bank that explodes after a 2.5 second-delay, dealing 250% damage each of his coins deal and knocking enemies back while also destroying obstacles around it.
  • His second Gadget, Coin Shower, adds an extra wave of coins to Griff's next main attack, making him fire 12 coins instead of the usual 9.
  • His first Star Power, Keep the Change, allows Griff to unload his attack 25% faster, down to 0.75 seconds.
  • His second Star Power, Business Resilience, heals Griff for 15% of his missing health every 2 seconds, so the less health he has, the more he will heal. Griff can heal even while attacking or receiving damage, unlike normal regeneration.

  • Ambiguously Human: At first look, Griff might appear to be some sort of human and cash register hybrid. However, a few frames of his pose show him to have a human-looking neck underneath the register. Coupled with the fact his "face" never changes expression beyond his toothy smile, it's implied Griff is actually a regular human wearing a cash register on his head.
  • Animate Inanimate Object: Appropriately for a shopkeeper, he's a living cash register. Probably.
  • Busman's Vocabulary: Pretty much all of his lines are related to money or sales. He threatens to take damage out of an attacker's paycheck, refuses refunds when defeating an enemy, etc.
  • Chest Monster: His Sunken Chest skin turns his head into one of these, complete with Scary Teeth.
  • Christmas Episode: In his Sleigher skin, where he gets a reindeer costume for his body and his head takes the appearance of a sleigh.
  • Improbable Weapon User: All of his attacks have him using unusual objects. These include coins, banknotes, and a piggy bank.
  • Jack of All Stats: Griff has moderate health and high damage output, but regular speed.
  • Large Ham: Even when he's taking damage or being defeated, Griff can't stop yelling at almost every opportunity.
  • Mean Boss: In a very petty way: the coins he uses for his main attack come from the Gift Shop (and, by extension, Colette and Edgar's) tip jar.
  • Money Mauling: His regular attack is made up of coins, his Super throws banknotes, and his Piggy Bank Gadget drops a bomb made out of a piggy bank.
  • Paper Master: His Super has Griff toss sharp banknotes.
  • Perpetual Smiler: He's always seen with a huge smile on her face, even during his defeat animation. This heavily implies the cash register isn't his actual head, but some sort of helmet/mask.
  • Pirate: Becomes a rather monstrous one in his Sunken Chest skin, complete with a Seadog Peg Leg.
  • Precision-Guided Boomerang: The banknotes from his Super will always return to Griff no matter how far he moves away from them.
  • Regenerating Health: His Business Resilience Star Power gives him percentage-based health regeneration on top of the game's default, vastly increasing his chances of surviving in the middle of battle. Uniquely, this regeneration will apply even if Griff is attacking or receiving damage.
  • Situational Damage Attack: His Super deals more damage the farther it travels when hitting an enemy.
  • Trick Bomb: His Piggy Bank Gadget drops a firecracker-filled piggy bank that blows up, deals damage, and destroys walls.
  • Useless Useful Spell: His Coin Shower Gadget. Not only is landing all of Griff's coins onto a single target a nearly impossible task thanks to his rather slow unload speed (even with his Keep the Change Star Power backing it up), but the massive utility and support that Piggy Bank provides means that Griff would rather go for his other more useful Gadget as well.
  • Video Arcade: The theme of his High Score skin, which turns Griff into an arcade machine that attacks with game cartridges.
  • When All You Have Is a Hammer…: Compared to other Brawlers of his class and rarity, Griff possesses a very basic kit between his main attack, Super, Gadgets, and Star Powers. However, the high damage output of his attacks and the immense utility provided by his other abilities can make of him an effective Controller and grant him plenty of area denial despite not having any flashy tools to work with.

    Jessie

Release Date: 15/06/2017 (Original)
Voiced by: Maya Tuttle
Alternate Skins: Summer Jessie, Dragon Knight/Shadow Knight Jessie, Tanuki Jessie, Red Dragon Jessie, Cat Burglar Jessie, Doll Jessie, Skadi Jessie, True Silver/Gold Jessie

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jessie_bs_full_body.png
"Jess will fix it!"
Jessie is a prodigy who builds guns and gadgets from parts she finds in the junkyard. Maybe one day her mother Pam will see she can fend for herself!

A Super Rare Brawler, and part of the Junker Family trio along with Pam and Nani. She's a young, quirky inventor who uses her own homemade gadgets, such a jerry-rigged experimental rifle and a robotic dog-turret hybrid, to attack.

Jessie's main utility comes from the fact her mere presence deters enemies from bunching up together, forcing them to split up and making their team composition weaker and more susceptible to Jessie's allies and turrets.

  • Her Attack, Shock Rifle, shoots electric orbs that can bounce between enemies and damage multiple targets in a bunch, though the orbs get slower, have their range decreased, and become 25% weaker with each bounce. These orbs can target enemies even if they're out of range, behind a wall, or hiding inside a bush, and can only bounce up to 2 times before disappearing after hitting a third enemy.
  • Her Super, Scrappy!, deploys Scrappy, a stationary turret (made of 100% recycled material!) which provides additional firepower, as well as locking on any enemy close enough. Scrappy's shots deal rather low damage, but makes up for it with its fast attack speed.
  • Her first Gadget, Spark Plug, emits a shockwave in a large area around Scrappy that slows down enemies caught in it for 4 seconds. Jessie needs to be within 12 tiles of Scrappy for her to activate this Gadget.
  • Her second Gadget, Recoil Spring, doubles Scrappy's attack speed for 5 seconds. Jessie needs to be within 12 tiles of Scrappy for her to activate this Gadget, and being defeated can prematurely cancel its duration.
  • Her first Star Power, Energize, allows Jessie to heal Scrappy by shooting at it with her basic attack, healing half of the damage done by her main attack. This also allows Jessie to bounce her shots off Scrappy, though they'll still be weakened as if an enemy was hit.
  • Her second Star Power, Shocky, replaces Scrappy's regular bullets with small energy orbs that can bounce up to 2 targets but otherwise retain the same range, speed, and damage as its normal bullets. The bullets' range and travel time is decreased after hitting an enemy, but the damage remains the same.
  • Her Hypercharge, Scrappy 2.0, will buff Scrappy if Jessie deploys it during her hypercharge duration, granting it 50% extra health and a 20% damage buff. Additionally, Scrappy will maintain these boosts even when Jessie's hypercharge runs out. She also gains 25% more damage, 26% more speed, and a 5% damage reduction shield.

  • Abnormal Ammo: She shoots energy orbs that bounce across enemies when they hit.
  • Alliterative Name: Her family name is Junker, so that makes her Jessie Junker.
  • Art Evolution: Like all older Brawlers, Jessie is subject to this, but is one of the most noticeable examples given that she was remodeled 3 times. A trend between her revisions is that she became cuter and her proportions became more Super-Deformed over time, making Jessie look younger overall.
  • Attack Animal: Her turret becomes an icy fox that shoots snowballs at enemies in her Skadi skin. Unlike other skins that simply give Scrappy an Animal Disguise to go with the theme, this fox appears to be completely real.
  • Automatic Crossbows: Her Dragon Knight, Shadow Knight, and Skadi skins replace her shock rifle with a crossbow capable of firing as fast as her regular weapon.
  • Beach Episode: Her Summer skin puts her in a bathing suit and life jacket, changes her gun to a water gun, and Scrappy takes the appearance of a rubber duck.
  • BFG: Scrappy becomes noticeably bigger when under the effects of Jessie's Hypercharge, becoming even bigger than Jessie herself.
  • Black Knight / Knight in Shining Armor: The theme of her Shadow Knight and Dragon Knight skins, respectively. In those, Jessie dons classic knight armors and attacks with Automatic Crossbows.
  • Braids of Action: Gains a pair of braids in her Skadi skin.
  • Classy Cat-Burglar: In her aptly named Cat Burglar skin, where Jessie gains a black stealth suit, a cat mask, and is depicted stealing the World Championship's trophy with a magnetic gun.
  • Dragon Tamer: In both of her Knight skins, Scrappy gets replaced with a dragon.
  • Dragons Up the Yin Yang: The theme of her Red Dragon skin. Unlike the more medieval, Western-inspired designs of her Dragon Knight and Shadow Knight skins, the dragon motifs of her Red Dragon skin are more akin to Chinese dragons, with her shock rifle taking the appearance of one. Fittingly, the skin was released to celebrate the launch of Brawl Stars in China.
  • The Engineer: Her weapon is hand-made by her own design, and she can build a turret to provide cover for her teammates.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Scrappy and her shock rifle were built by herself.
  • Glass Cannon: Jessie can deal a lot of damage thanks to her bouncing projectiles and turret providing support, but she has very low health.
  • An Ice Person: Her Skadi skin attacks with ice crystals, while her turret becomes an icy fox that attacks by spitting snowballs at enemies.
  • Living Toys: Her Doll skin turns Jessie into a living, button-eyed rag doll.
  • Making a Splash: In her Summer skin, Jessie replaces her electric orbs with ones made of water instead.
  • More Dakka: Her Recoil Spring Gadget doubles Scrappy's firepower for 5 seconds, vastly increasing the amount of bullets fired from the robotic dog.
  • Older Than She Looks: Implied. Jessie's original appearance made her appear far more older than she looks now, and with no implication that her age was changed between redesigns, it can be safely assumed she's, at the very least, a pre-teen/young teenager with the appearance of a small child.
  • The Paralyzer: Her Spark Plug Gadget will slow down enemies around Scrappy for 4 seconds, giving it, Jessie, or her teammates an opportunity to bring them down easier.
  • Percussive Maintenance: If she has the Energize Star Power, Jessie can fix Scrappy by shooting at it with her rifle. This also allows Jessie to bounce her shots off Scrappy, although they'll still be weakened.
  • Pin Ball Projectile: The energy bolts from her rifle bounce between enemies. The same goes from the bolts fired by Scrappy if Jessie has her Shocky Star Power.
  • Robot Dog: Scrappy is a robotic dog that helps Jessie in combat whenever available.
  • Shock and Awe: She mainly attacks by firing electrical orbs at her enemies. Scrappy can do this too if Jessie has the Shocky Star Power.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Southern-Fried Genius: Her older descriptions explicitly call her a "hillbilly genius girl", implying she and her family come from the American south.
  • Tanuki: In her aptly named Tanuki skin, Jessie uses a raccoon-themed hat, and Scrappy becomes a raccoon dog.
  • Teen Genius: She looks no older than 10, and yet she can already build a functioning turret and an energy weapon (made out of scraps, no less!).
  • The Turret Master: The game's earliest example, given that she was the only Brawler during beta/global release whose Super spawned a turret to help Jessie in combat.
  • Wrench Wench: She's a young engineer and inventor.

    Lou

Release Date: 23/11/2020
Voiced by: John Mondelli
Alternate Skins: King Lou, Smooth Lou, Burger Lou, Stone Troll Lou, True Silver/Gold Lou

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lou_bs_full_body.png
"A frosty treat that'll keep you on your feet!"
Lou is a robot snow cone salesman who's yet to make his first sale. Being located on a snowy mountain peak might have something to do with that.

A Mythic Brawler, and part of the Snowtel trio along with Mr. P and Gale. Lou is a cheerful, sentient ice-cream machine on legs who works at the Snowtel giving frozen treats to guests.

Lou is a Brawler with an unique freezing mechanic that allows him to constantly stun enemies with his main attack without having to rely on special abilities, but in exchange, his shots are notoriously difficult to land unless the enemy is at point-blank range or slowed down, making him an excellent counter to close-range Brawlers and an easy prey for long-ranged or speedy ones.

  • His Attack, Brain Freeze, shoots 3 snow cones in a straight line with a slight spread, each one dealing rather low damage. When an enemy is hit by this attack, a Frost meter will appear left of their name, with each cone filling up 15.73% of the meter for a total of 7 cones required to completely fill it up. When the Frost meter is full, the enemy will become stunned for 1.5 seconds, and the Frost meter will reset; if the Frost meter isn't filled at least every 2 seconds, however, it will begin to deplete by 5% every second.
  • His Super, Can-Do, creates a rather large circular area of frozen syrup on the ground that lasts 10 seconds. Enemies caught in this frozen area will have trouble maneuvering and escaping if they try to change direction while moving, in addition to dealing ticks of minimal damage and filling up their Frost meter by 12.6% every second. Lou can have more than one Super on the battlefield at the time.
  • His first Gadget, Ice Block, will make Lou completely immobile and unable to attack in exchange for granting him 1 second of total damage immunity.
  • His second Gadget, Cryo Syrup, instantly fills up the Frost meter of enemies inside his Super area by 50%.
  • His first Star Power, Supercool, makes his Super fill enemies' Frost meter 33% faster, going from 12.6% to 16.8% per second.
  • His second Star Power, Hypothermia, makes enemies lose 6.36% of their damage per tick of Frost meter, up to 50%.
  • His Hypercharge, Slushie Storm, will instantly freeze enemies who are caught in Lou's Super when he deploys it, although not enemies who walk into it. He also gains 25% more damage, 26% more speed, and a 5% damage reduction shield.

  • Attack Animal: He throws robins instead of snowcones in his Stone Troll skin.
  • Cute Machines: Has the design of a robotic snowcone machine, and given an admirable design.
  • Human Popsicle: Well, more so "Robot Popsicle", but his Ice Block Gadget allows him to become this, freezing himself which doesn't let him attack. However, he is immune to all sorts of damage thanks to this.
  • An Ice Person: Does this really need explaining? Just look at him and his lines full of ice puns.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Lou's attacks consist of throwing ice-cream cones at his targets. His opponents can eventually be stunned if they get hit by many cones in a certain period of time. They also turn into golden chalices in his King skin, microphones in his Smooth skin, French fry cartons in his Burger skin and robins in his Stone Troll skin.
  • Inelegant Blubbering: One of his defeated voice lines include him sobbing rather loudly.
  • Jazz: His Smooth skin transforms him into a romantic jazz singer, with his snowcones being exchanged with microphones.
  • Literally Shattered Lives: The losing animation of his Stone Troll skin depicts him gradually falling apart.
  • Musical Assassin: His Jazz-themed Smooth skin turns his weaponized Blizzballs into microphones.
  • Rock Monster: Becomes one in his Stone Troll skin.
  • Slippery Skid His super creates an area of ice that causes enemies that walk on it to slip until it disappears or until they manage to escape it.
  • Valentine's Day Episode: The main theme of his Smooth skin.

    Mr. P

Release Date: 23/01/2020
Voiced by: Martin Schjøler
Alternate Skins: Agent P, Count Pengula, Mr. Fly, Daruma Mr. P, True Silver/Gold Mr. P

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mr_p_bs_full_body.png
Mr. P is in over his head trying to run a hotel. He's always yelling at his employees to work faster, as if they could understand his gibberish!

A Mythic Brawler, and part of the Snowtel trio along with Gale and Lou. Mr P. is the owner of the Snowtel, a winter-themed hotel located in a snowy Starr Park mountain.

Mr. P is a Brawler who relies on his spawnables to constantly annoy the enemy by forcing them to waste their ammo on his little minions, providing constant opportunities for his team to gain the upper hand and advance towards the objectives of the match.

  • His Attack, Your Suitcase Sir!, hurls heavy suitcases towards the enemy, and should they hit anything or reach maximum range, the suitcase bounces a few extra tiles forward, dealing splash damage in small radius.
  • His Super, Porters! Attack!, has him placing a home base that spawns Robo-Porters: small and fast-moving robots that provide Mr. P and his teammates with additional firepower and harass nearby enemies, but posses low health and damage. However, only one Porter can be deployed at once, and the home base, apart from being destructible, can only spawn another after a 4-second delay.
  • His first Gadget, Service Bell, buffs his current Porter's attack power and health by 15% of Mr. P's attack damage and 20% of his maximum health, respectively, as long as Mr. P is within 12 tiles of it. This will also fully heal the Porter if it received damage beforehand. A buffed Porter will appear noticeably larger and brightly-colored than a regular one.
  • His second Gadget, Porter Reinforcements, has Mr. P's next suitcase spawn a Porter once it lands. This Porter can spawn even if there's another one present from Mr. P's Super or a previous Gadget, but it'll only have half the health and deal 77% the damage of a regular Porter.
  • His first Star Power, Handle With Care, gives Mr. P a bar that charges every 4 seconds and, when full, will increase the damage of his next main attack's Splash Damage by 40%.
  • His second Star Power, Revolving Door, gives the Robo-Porters from his Super 20% bonus health and 30% bonus damage.

    Otis

Release Date: 29/06/2022
Voiced by: Martin Schjøler
Alternate Skins: Pharaotis, Oni Otis, W Otis, True Silver/Gold Otis

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/otis_bs_full_body.png
Otis is a young street artist on the come-up who works by shooting ink at the walls. Nobody knows his true identity, which only adds to his mystique!

A Mythic Brawler, and part of the currently incomplete Deep Sea trio along with Hank. Otis is a street artist inside a diving suit that has made himself a home in the aquariums of Starr Park, hanging out with his starfish best friend Cil.

Otis is a Brawler with an unique silencing mechanic that allows him to reliably shut off key enemies and take down anyone attempting to rush him down as long as his Super is available, always discouraging enemies from getting too close to him.

  • His Attack, Inky Art, fires three paint blobs in a straight line with a slight spread.
  • His Super, Silent Seabed, has Otis throw Cil, his starfish friend, to a nearby enemy Brawler/spawnable, who'll grab onto them and prevent them from attacking or using Gadgets for 3 seconds. Brawlers grabbed by Cil will also receive ticks of damage for each second they remain with the starfish on them, but can still move and make use of their Star Powers if these don't affect their attacks or Supers. In addition, Brawlers caught by Cil won't be able to shoot the ball in Brawl Ball or Basket Brawl.
  • His first Gadget, Dormant Star, lets Otis throw Cil onto the ground, creating an invisible trap that'll put enemy Brawlers in his Super's effect if they step on it. Multiple starfishes can be present in the ground at the same time, though they'll all disappear if one is activated or if another round starts in any round-based game mode.
  • His second Gadget, Phat Splatter, makes Otis's next attack shoot an ink puddle that deals four ticks of damage over 3.8 seconds. The damage done by each tick will be equal to 125% of a single paint blob from Otis' main attack.
  • His first Star Power, Stencil Glue, increases the duration of Otis' Super from 3 to 4 seconds.
  • His second Star Power, Ink Refills, increases the paint blobs shoot by Otis' main attack from 3 to 4.

  • Ambiguously Human: Whether Otis is a human inside a diving suit or some kind of creature isn't made clear. It doesn't help that he's not shown to have arms (which could be inside the suit) and he apparently has only one eye.
  • Armless Biped: Otis isn't shown to have any arms, although they could just be compressed inside his diving suit.
  • Art Attacker: Otis primarily attacks by throwing paintballs at the enemy.
  • Equippable Ally: Cil, the starfish always seen with him, is also his best friend, and he uses him to attack during his Super.
  • Generic Graffiti: He's a graffiti artist who sprays his art all across Starr Park, with the help of his starfish friend Cil.
  • Improbable Weapon User: As if throwing paint wasn't weird enough, Otis' primary weapon is a tendril-like hose he uses to shot said paint out of. His Pharaotis skin replaces the hose with a cobra, for even more weirdness.
  • Jack of All Stats: All of his stats a pretty good balanced all-around.
  • Loyal Animal Companion: Otis has a starfish best friend who is always accompanying him.
  • Nepharious Pharaoh: His Pharaotis skin turns him into one of these, with Cil being replaced with a golden beetle.
  • Power Nullifier: His Super has Otis throw Cil onto the enemy, who'll grab onto them for 3 (or 4 with the Stencil Glue Star Power) seconds and prevent them from doing anything other than running away.
  • Snakes Are Sinister: His Pharaotis skin replaces his hose with a cobra covered in mummy bandages.
  • Trap Master: If he has the Dormant Star Gadget, Otis can use Cil as a trap by laying it on the ground, discouraging enemies from coming near it lest they get affected by his Super.
  • The Unintelligible: His voicelines are limited to gurgles that sound as if he was underwater.

    Sandy

Release Date: 18/09/2019
Voiced by: Patrick Pedraza
Alternate Skins: Sleepy Sandy, Sugar Rush Sandy, Lantern Sandy, Sandy Koya, Nightmare Sandy, True Silver/Gold Sandy

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sandy_bs_full_body.png
"Huh, I guess I'll have to do stuff..."
On the rare occasions Sandy wakes from his slumber, he tries to help his big sister Tara around their store. But it's never long before he falls asleep again.

A Legendary Brawler, and part of the Mystic Wanderers trio along with Tara and Gene. He's a sleep-deprived sandman who holds control over sand, allowing him to use it to both inflict damage and protect his allies.

Sandy's main strength comes from his ability to completely obscure sections of the map for him and his team to sneak around out of enemy view, making of him an excellent Brawler to set up ambushes or advance through the battlefield with minimal risk.

  • His Attack, Pebble Blast, throws a wave of 3 sand clouds in a wide cone formation that can pierce through multiple enemies, although an enemy can only be damaged once per ammo.
  • His Super, Sandstorm, summons a sandstorm that covers a very large circular area and lasts for 9 seconds. Both Sandy and allied Brawlers who remain inside the sandstorm will become invisible to enemy Brawlers as long as it's active, but can still be seen if they're too close to them.
  • His first Gadget, Sleep Stimulator, will make Sandy fall asleep in place for 1.5 seconds before fully restoring all health. Sandy can still take damage and be defeated while the Gadget is active, as well as be interrupted by knockbacks, pulls, and stuns.
  • His second Gadget, Sweet Dreams, will make his next attack put enemies to sleep for 1 second, effectively stunning them. However, if they’re damaged by any source during the sleep duration, they will wake up prematurely.
  • His first Star Power, Rude Sands, allows Sandy's Super to deal 12% of his main attack damage per second to enemies inside of it.
  • His second Star Power, Healing Winds, allows Sandy’s Super to heal him and allied Brawlers for 5% of Sandy's maximum health per second, up to 45% of his maximum health regained over 9 seconds.
  • His Mythic Gear, Exhausting Storm, will make enemies inside Sandy's Super to deal 20% less damage.
  • His Hypercharge, Swift Winds, increases his allies' movement speed in the sandstorm by 20% and prevents opponents inside it from attacking for 0.5 seconds. He also gains 25% more speed, 25% more damage, and a 5% damage reduction shield.

  • Dishing Out Dirt: He attacks enemies by flinging sand and sharp pebbles at them.
  • Dub Name Change: The French localization calls him Émeri.
  • Gender-Blender Name: Due to his name being a stereotypically feminine name, a few players have accidentally misgendered him, thinking he's a girl at first.
  • Exhausted Eye Bags: He has these; look carefully at his character model and you'll see them.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The name of his first Star Power, Rude Sands, may be a reference to the famous song Darude Sandstorm.
    • His character is a nod to the mythological Sandman, a being who puts people to sleep by sprinkling magical sand into their eyes. But instead of putting people to sleep, he's the one who is sleeping, and his sand hurts.
  • Sleepyhead: Well, duh.
  • Sleep Deprivation: He seems to have a bad case of this, constantly snoozing, even when in battle. Most of his voice lines sound tired and fatigued, and when he's dying, he outright says goodnight.
  • Snot Bubble: His idle animation always has this.

    Squeak

Release Date: 20/05/2021
Voiced by: Martin Schjøler
Alternate Skins: Ghost Squeak, Potato Squeak, Moon Bunny Squeak, First Blob Squeak, Nerd Squeak, Squeaky Note, True Silver/Gold Squeak

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/squeak_bs_full_body.png
Squeak is a blob of happy energy who loves his creator, Ruffs. He's a joy to be around, at least if you are unaware that he's made of dog slobber.

A Mythic Brawler, and part of the Starr Force trio along with Ruffs and Eve. He is a sapient, amicable blob of alien material and dog drool who loves to play fetch like a real dog.

Squeak is a Sticky Bomb Brawler who can constantly shut off areas of the map with his wide delayed explosions and pretty much convert enemies into walking Time Bombs with enough precision, but suffers from a lack of reliable DPS and burst damage that makes him susceptible to aggressive opponents.

  • His Attack, Sticky Blomb, throws a blob of goo that sticks to obstacles, the floor, and targets alike and then explodes after a 1.15 second delay, damaging anyone in a small radius around it. The explosion can even hit targets through walls and stack on obstacles until they detonate, but will explode instantly if an enemy with a bomb already attached is hit by another one, meaning an enemy Brawler can't have more than one bomb stuck to them at the time.
  • His Super, Big Blob, shoots a giant ball of goo that splits into six smaller blobs in a wide hexagon pattern, with each one exploding after a 1.33-second delay. The blobs from Squeak's Super can stick to enemy Brawlers similarly to the ones from his main attack.
  • His first Gadget, Windup, doubles the range of his next attack while also dealing 50% more damage.
  • His second Gadget, Residue, allows his next attack to leave a radius that covers the same area of his bombs wherever it explodes, revealing enemies in bushes to him and allies while also slowing down enemies inside of it. This radius lasts 6 seconds before disappearing, and more than one can be active on the field at the time.
  • His first Star Power, Chain Reaction, increases his main attack's damage for every enemy Brawler/spawnable inside its radius by 15% each. This Star Power still takes effect if there is only one enemy Brawler, giving Squeak at least a permanent 15% extra damage for every attack.
  • His second Star Power, Super Sticky, slows enemies hit by his Super's secondary blobs for 4 seconds.

  • All-Ghouls School: The main theme of his Nerd skin.
  • Bedsheet Ghost: His Ghost skin vaguely resembles one of these.
  • Blob Monster: He's a vaguely humanoid ball of blue slime made of Colonel Ruff's drool.
  • Cute Monster: Is an adorable Blob Monster made of dog saliva. This goes doubly so for his Nerd skin that turns him into a pink fluffy monster, also being part of an All-Ghouls School themed skin set.
  • Maniac Tongue: The silly/dimwitted version. His tongue is always hanging out of his big goofy grin
  • Recursive Ammo: His Super bomb splits into six smaller bombs.
  • Shout-Out: A double one in his Nerd skin, which is based on both Monsters University with the design and skin set he belongs to, and Dungeons & Dragons with the dice replacing his main weapon.
  • Stereotypical Nerd: Becomes one in his Nerd skin, complete with glasses.
  • Sticky Bomb: The drool that he throws glues onto surfaces and targets, exploding after some time ticking. As for where he gets all that drool though...
  • Sticky Situation: Both his Residue Gadget and Super Sticky Star Power allows Squeak to slow down enemies via this method, the former using his normal attack and the latter his Super.
  • Stone Wall: Squeak has a good amount of health points, but his attacks deal below average damage and are rather difficult to aim. For this reason, Squeak is best suited as a defender capable of blocking choke-points and important paths with his bombs while also slowing enemies down with his Gadgets and Star Powers.
  • The Unintelligible: All of his voicelines consist of squeaks and giggling.

    Willow

Release Date: 03/04/2023
Voiced by: Emma Rae
Alternate Skins: Axl Willow, Scorpion Willow, True Silver/Gold Willow

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/willow_bs_full_body.png
"In the creepy love tunnel, only I can hear you scream!"
Willow works as a gondoliera in the Love Swamp. She gives couples in search of a romantic evening the creepiest, most unsettling time they could imagine.

A Mythic Brawler, and part of the currently incomplete Swamp of Love trio along with Angelo. She's the proprietor of the Tunnel of Love, an abandoned attraction located next to Mortis' Mortuary and who appears to be infatuated with the eponymous gravedigger.

Willow is a Brawler who can function similarly to an Artillery Brawler thanks to her attacks being able to be lobbed over walls, allowing her to bombard enemies while staying protected behind cover and turn any enemy who manages to get too close to her into an ally.

  • Her Attack, Lantern's Curse, lobs a lantern full of noxious swamp water above obstacles that, upon touching the ground, will shatter and leave a puddle that poisons anyone who steps on it for three ticks of damage over 3 seconds. The puddle will only poison enemies upon impact, as it doesn't possesses a lingering effect.
  • Her Super, Hex, fires a tadpole in front of her that, upon hitting an enemy Brawler, will heal them for full health and allow Willow to take control over their minds for 4 seconds, letting the player move and attack enemies with them while Willow remains completely immobile with a shield that reduces 25% of the damage aimed at her. Mind-controlled Brawlers can't use or charge their Supers, can't be attacked by Willow's allies, can receive damage from own allies, and the effect will prematurely end if their health goes below 30% or if Willow is defeated. Against spawnables and non-Brawler targets, this Super will deal 1500 damage instead.
  • Her first Gadget, Spellbound, will make Willow's next attack deal all of its damage at once instead of three ticks of poison while also dealing extra damage in the process. The extra damage will be equal to 75% of a single tick of damage dealt by Willow's main attack.
  • Her second Gadget, Dive, will make Willow dive into a puddle, becoming completely immobile and unable to attack, but immune to all damage for 2 seconds.
  • Her first Star Power, Love Is Blind, decreases the reload speed of poisoned enemies by 33%.
  • Her second Star Power, Obsession, boosts the speed of mind-controlled foes by 33%.
