If there is anything a writer can well expect, it is that no one in their audience will be perfect. Therefore, characters are usually given flaws to make them more realistic and relatable, with doing so being common writers' advice. Flaws are character traits that have a negative impact in the narrative, unless they are simply informed. They can also be exploited. See Good Flaws, Bad Flaws for a scale of flaw acceptability.

- Abusive Parents: Habitually violent and cruel to their own children, often because that's how they were raised.
- Acquainted with Emergency Services: Emergency Services already knows you from multiple previous incidents you caused.
- Adult Hater: Possesses an inexplicable hatred for, at least, most adults.
- Aesop Amnesia: Doesn't learn lessons.
- Afraid of Blood: Extreme fear of blood.
- Afraid of Doctors: Extreme fear of doctors.
- Afraid of Needles: Extreme fear of hypodermic needles, receiving an injection, etc.
- Afraid of Their Own Strength: Fear that their Super Strength will cause people harm.
- Age Insecurity: Insecurities about getting older.
- Aggressive Categorism: Judges people too quickly and/or by criteria that have no inherent bearing on their personal character, such as gender, ethnic background, or hairstyle.
- Aimlessly Seeking Happiness: Constantly looking for something that will make them happy and never quite contented.
- The Alcoholic: Drinks way too much and may not be aware that they're behaving like an addict.
- Allergic to Routine: Gets bored easily, needs to be entertained at all times.
- All Men Are Perverts: Men primarily think with their sexual organs.
- All Take and No Give: Someone who either manipulates others into giving them whatever they want or gives to people as a way to put them in their debt.
- All Women Are Lustful: Women will do anything for sex and damn the consequences.
- The Anti-Grinch: Loves Christmas so much, they end up destroying it trying to contribute to it.
- Anti-Mentor: Terrible at teaching even the simplest of lessons.
- Apologises a Lot: Apologizes all the time, even when not at fault.
- Athletically Challenged: A character is terrible at athletic endeavors, particularly sports.
- Attack! Attack! Attack!: Incapable of realizing when a fight is unwinnable or when to retreat for a shorter time.
- Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Has no attention span and is easily distracted.
- Attention Whore: Will do anything to be the center of attention, good or bad.
- Ax-Crazy: Psychologically unstable and presents a clear danger to others.
- Bad Boss: Treats their employees or underlings extremely badly.
- Bad Liar: Unable to lie in a convincing way and comes up with really silly lies that fool no one.
- Barred from Every Bar: Getting kicked out of multiple bars due to drunken misbehavior.
- Because I'm Good At It: Does a job because they can do it well, regardless of whether the job is ethical.
- Believing Their Own Lies: Self-deluded and blind to the way things really are.
- Berserk Button: This character will get extremely angry at one particular provocation.
- The Berserker: Throws themselves into battle with complete disregard for danger or consequences.
- Big Eater: Habitual excess in eating, a.k.a. gluttony.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Pretends to be nice when they're anything but.
- Black-and-White Insanity: Sees the world in black and white to the point of being not mentally well.
- Blinded by Rage: Is far too easily angered and baited, leading to mistakes that they would not otherwise make.
- Blind Obedience: Blindly follows those in authority without regard to the authority's fallibility or morality.
- Blood Knight: Loves to fight and by extension, hurt others.
- Blood Lust: Is gratified by the sight of someone else bleeding.
- Boomerang Bigot: Hates members of a group, even though they're a member of the group.
- The Bore: An incredibly dull person who's almost impossible to get rid of or get away from.
- Bratty Food Demand: Someone who rudely demands food.
- Bratty Half-Pint: A youngster who's bratty and self-important.
- Bratty Teenage Daughter: A whiny, self-involved adolescent girl.
- Bridezilla: Wedding planning brings out the worst in a bride-to-be.
- Brilliant, but Lazy: Has talent, but no drive to apply themselves.
- Brutal Honesty: Will tell you the truth even if it hurts your feelings.
- Boyfriend-Blocking Dad: A father with a tendency to intervene in his daughter's love life to an excessive extent.
- The Bully: Does harmful things to those (at least perceived as) weaker than themselves.
- Bystander Syndrome: Thinks that any given crisis isn't important and doesn't require their help because they're not personally involved and have no desire to get involved.
- Cannot Convey Sarcasm: Doesn't understand how to use sarcasm properly.
- Cannot Keep a Secret: Will reveal to others what you tell them in confidence.
- Cannot Spit It Out: Unable to voice their true feelings.
- Cannot Talk to Women: Is there a woman present? This person is now a gibbering wreck.
- Cannot Tell a Lie: Is completely truthful at all times, even when it would be better not to be.
- Cannot Tell Fiction from Reality: Unable to understand imaginary events and people compared to real-life.
- Can't Hold His Liquor: Is intoxicated very easily.
- Can't Take Criticism: Can't stand being criticized for their wrongs.
- Captain Oblivious: Completely unaware of the outside world in which things to them are different from others.
- Captain Obvious: Tends to point out the obvious.
- Cats Are Lazy: Cats are depicted as lazy creatures.
- Cats Are Mean: Cats are depicted as animal Jerkasses.
- Cats Are Superior: Cats are depicted as arrogant and believe their species is the best.
- Chaotic Stupid: Deprived of common sense and abidance to any code of conduct.
- Child Hater: Possesses a more inexplicable hatred for, at least, most children.
- Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: Constantly betrays others.
- Chronic Hero Syndrome: Wants to save everyone and right every wrong, even when it's not the wisest course.
- Chuunibyou: A teenager ignorant of the real world who acts like a know-it-all adult, or thinks they have special powers no one else has.
- Claustrophobia: Extreme fear of small enclosed spaces.
- Clingy Jealous Girl: Very possessive of her significant other.
- The Cobbler's Children Have No Shoes: A professional in a certain field can and will find time to help everyone — except those they love most.
- Combat Sadomasochist: Loves to feel pain and inflict it, too.
- Commitment Issues: Doesn't want to settle down in a relationship.
- Competition Freak: Treats every contest as Serious Business.
- Complexity Addiction: Never uses a simple plan when a multidimensional one will do.
- Compressed Abstinence: Making an effort to reduce the use of some indulgence without quitting it entirely.
- Compressed Vice: A flaw developed by a character out of nowhere for the sake of An Aesop.
- Compulsive Liar: Lies even when there is no advantage in doing so.
- Condescending Compassion: Feels sorry for someone who's not themselves but looks down on them with rudeness over mercy.
- Conditioned to Accept Horror: Desensitized to the horrific or traumatic things in their everyday life.
- Conspiracy Theorist: Sees ancient conspiracies behind everything.
- Control Freak: Obsessed with control over themselves, other people and their environment.
- Conversation Hog: Doesn't allow others to take turns in conversations and think only their word should be heard.
- Cordon Bleugh Chef: Has good cooking skills, but often creates recipes that sound and/or taste disgusting.
- Corrupt Corporate Executive: Will do terrible things just to make money.
- The Corrupter: Enjoys bringing out the worst in everyone around them.
- The Corruptible: Prone to being corrupted easily.
- Crazy Cat Lady: Possessing an extreme need to collect animals.
- Crazy Jealous Guy: Lets jealousy poison his relationships.
- Creature of Habit: A character that prefers sticking to everyday routine than trying something different.
- Crime Magnet: Unusually attractive to wrongdoers.
- Cultural Posturing: My culture is better than yours!
- Culture Justifies Anything: Uses their culture to justify their own vicious deeds.
- Cute and Psycho: Hides a scheming and unstable demeanor that can resurface at any time.
- Cute Clumsy Girl: Lacks physical coordination, but is at least endearing because of this.
- The Cynic: Believes that people are exclusively motivated by self-interest.
- Dandere: Shyness, sometimes to a fault.
- Deadpan Snarker: Prone to sarcastic and snide remarks.
- Deaf Composer: Inability to enjoy their own creation.
- Deathless and Debauched: An immortal too obsessed with having a good time to do anything productive with their eternal life.
- Deliberate Under-Performance: Would rather fly under the radar than be successful.
- Delinquents: School kid who breaks rules to the extreme.
- Desperately Craves Affection: Excessive desire to be loved.
- Desperately Looking for a Purpose in Life: Still doesn't know what to do with their life.
- Desperately Needs Orders: Inability to function without someone to tell them what to do.
- Determinator: Excessive persistence in a course of action, even when it would be better to give up.
- Detrimental Determination: Refusal to give up leads people into danger.
- Did I Just Say That Out Loud?: Prone to be Thinking Out Loud even though it's something they don't want others to hear.
- Dirty Coward: Shameless, selfish, and all too willing to put others in danger to save their own skin.
- Disability as an Excuse for Jerkassery: Uses their disability as an excuse to be a Jerkass.
- Dismotivation: Wants to keep things as they are and actively avoids doing anything that might change their life for the better.
- The Ditherer: Can't make decisions or make up their mind to save their life.
- The Ditz: The idiot.
- Ditzy Secretary: A secretary who is too stupid to have the job.
- Does Not Know His Own Strength: Has trouble gauging just how much of their considerable strength to apply to a specific task.
- Does Not Know How to Say "Thanks": Doesn't know how to express gratitude.
- Does Not Like Men: Dislikes men as a whole.
- Does Not Like Spam: Possesses an immense dislike for a particular food.
- Dogged Nice Guy: Doesn't know when to take a hint that their Love Interest is not interested.
- Domestic Abuse: Inclined to abuse their partners either mentally, sexually, verbally, physically, or emotionally.
- Don't Look At Me: Extreme dislike of being looked at.
- Don't You Dare Pity Me!: Too proud to appreciate sympathy or help.
- Drama Queen: Responds to situations in a melodramatic way.
- Dreadful Musician: Displays little talent for music, often to comical extremes.
- Drives Like Crazy: A danger to pretty much everyone on the road when behind the wheel.
- Drowning My Sorrows: Deals with sorrow by getting drunk.
- Drunk with Power: When given power, they abuse their underlings.
- Dry Crusader: Goes to extreme lengths to discourage alcohol consumption.
- Dumbass Teenage Son: A teenage boy who's unintelligent in many ways.
- Easily Swayed Population: A large group of people being unable to think for themselves, often because of their own stupidity.
- The Eeyore: Perpetually depressed; perpetually depressing.
- Embodiment of Vice: Exemplifies a certain moral deficiency to such an extent as to become a symbol of it.
- Emotionally Tongue-Tied: Has trouble uttering specific words or phrases, like "I love you" or "I'm sorry."
- Entitled Bastard: Treats people like crap, but still expects them to serve their interests.
- Entitled to Have You: Believes that they are entitled to the affections of their Love Interest simply for being part of a certain group, doing or not doing something, or simply for existing.
- Enraged by Idiocy: Can't cope with idiots.
- Etiquette Nazi: Obsessed with enforcing manners on everyone.
- Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Inability to comprehend good altruistic behavior because of an incredibly selfish and evil nature.
- Executive Excess: A character with a high-flying corporate job can't seem to focus on anything but partying and avoiding work.
- Expelled from Every Other School: A character is kicked out of multiple schools, for making trouble.
- Experience Entitlement: Using their age or amount of experience as a reason to put others down.
- Extreme Doormat: Unmotivated and has no drive, but freely bends to the will of others.
- Extreme Libido: A high libido can't be satisfied easily, mostly called as Nymphomania or Satyriasis.
- Extreme Omnisexual: They'll have sex with anything and everything.
- Extreme Omnivore: Tends to eat things that are not supposed to be edible.
- Fair-Weather Friend: Has a tendency to flake out when their "friends" need help.
- Fatal Flaw: A flaw that the character wrestles with on a consistent basis.
- Fearless Fool: Not scared of anything, even if it's dangerous.
- Fear of Thunder: Inordinate fear of thunderstorms.
- Felony Misdemeanor: Their reaction to a minor offense is ridiculously excessive.
- Female Misogynist: A woman who hates on other women/buys into sexist attitudes about her gender.
- The Finicky One: An incredibly nitpicky and uptight character.
- Flaw Exploitation: Exploiting someone's flaws for profit.
- Fool for Love: Can't help but to fall in love, even if their lives and past experiences have taught them better.
- Forgetful Jones: Incredibly forgetful.note
- Forgets to Eat: Notorious for ignoring their body's need for nutrition and has to be reminded to eat.
- Freudian Excuse: Bad things happened to this character in the past, so they use it as an excuse to do bad things to others.
- Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: No matter how pitiable their sad stories are, they shouldn't be given leniency for their actions.
- The Fundamentalist: Their beliefs are right and anyone who doesn't believe as they do is stupid, crazy, evil or all three.
- Fury-Fueled Foolishness: Lets their anger get the best of them, causing them to make mistakes.
- The Gambling Addict: Likes gambling, to the extent where it starts to cause problems.
- General Failure: An incompetent leader.
- Getting High on Their Own Supply: A drug dealer who uses their own product, most often to their detriment.
- Glasses Curiosity: Stealing or taking someone else's glasses.
- Glorified Sperm Donor: Fathers a baby, then leaves the woman he slept with to raise the baby herself, without taking any responsibility for that child.
- Glory Hound: Desire for glory at any cost.
- Glory Seeker: Driven by the need for glory.
- Glurge Addict: Extreme love for sickeningly sweet things.
- God Is Flawed: Not even supreme beings are perfect.
- Good Cannot Comprehend Evil: Inability to comprehend what motivates villains to commit evil deeds.
- Good Is Dumb: Some good guys are easily called stupid, or just lacking in intelligence.
- Good is Not Nice: Generally, if not terribly rude even when doing heroic deeds.
- Graceful in Their Element: Nimble in their field, awkward outside it.
- Grammar Nazi: An obsessive stickler about proper grammar.
- Grey-and-Gray Insanity: Thinks everyone is basically just as flawed as each other to the point of absurdity.
- The Grinch: Hates Christmas.
- Guilt Complex: Blames themselves for everything.
- Guilty Pleasure: Ashamed of what brings them pleasure because they think it's of low quality.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: This character will get extremely angry for many particular provocations — or has never learned how to control their temper.
- Hates Baths: Exactly What It Says on the Tin.
- Hates Being Alone: Possess an extensive fear of being left alone.
- Hates Being Touched: Dislikes physical contact.
- Hates Everyone Equally: Hates everyone, or just about.
- Hates Reading: Dislikes reading books.
- Hates Small Talk: Dislikes making small talk with others.
- Hates Their Parent: Outright despises at least one of their parents, sometimes for petty and selfish reasons.
- Heavy Sleeper: Almost impossible to wake up.
- The Hedonist: Only lives for pleasure, often at the expense of others.
- He-Man Woman Hater: Dislikes women as a whole.
- Heroic Comedic Sociopath: Loves to fight evil because it enables them to dispense pain.
- Heroic Self-Deprecation: No matter how amazing their accomplishments are, the hero thinks they are useless.
- He Who Fights Monsters: Lets their hatred for an evil enemy possess them, to the point of becoming more and more like that enemy over time.
- High Hopes, Zero Talent: They have the ambition, but not the skill.
- Hikikomori: Locks themselves away from the outside world as a result of intense social anxiety.
- His Own Worst Enemy: Self-sabotages their own doings.
- Honor Before Reason: Does what they feel is the right thing, even though it's not the smart thing.
- Hormone-Addled Teenager: Over-sexualized behavior of adolescents.
- Horrible Judge of Character: Trusts people who really shouldn't be trusted.
- Humans Are Bastards: Humanity is, at least demonstrated in such settings, prone to acts of cruelty.
- Humans Are Flawed: A saying passed down easily: "No one's perfect."
- Humans Are the Real Monsters: Humans are among the cruelest of all sapient species.
- Hypocrite: Espousing an ideal and/or holding others to a standard that they themselves don't follow. In short, not practicing what they preach.
- I'm a Man; I Can't Help It: Uses his biological urges as an excuse for his behavior.
- Implausible Deniability: Denies something even in front of unquestionable evidence.
- Inadequate Inheritor: When the character is unfit to fulfill heritage expectations.
- Ineffectual Loner: A loner whose capacity is reduced to the point of not being able to fulfill their goal because of their solitary nature.
- Inferiority Superiority Complex: Uses arrogance to mask low self-esteem.
- Informed Flaw: Flaws not really shown or followed up on.
- In Harm's Way: Thinks life is boring unless they put themselves in danger.
- In Love with Love: In love with the idea of being in a romantic relationship, which often leads to Looking for Love in All the Wrong Places.
- Innocent Bigot: Unknowingly offensive to strangers.
- Innocently Insensitive: Unknowingly offensive.
- Insecure Love Interest: Firmly believes they're not good enough as a Love Interest.
- Inspector Javert: Firmly believes that someone is pure evil and aggressively pursues them in order to punish them.
- Instant Taste Addiction: A character tries a new food and instantly develops an addiction to it.
- Insufferable Genius: Arrogant about their own impressive skills.
- Insufferable Imbecile: Mean person with a low I.Q.
- Intentional Heartbreaker: Dates people just to break up with them.
- Internalized Categorism: Possesses a nondestructive trait that causes self-hatred, which makes it destructive.
- I Reject Your Reality: Insists their beliefs are facts.
- Irrational Hatred: Hates someone for irrational reasons.
- It's All About Me: Cares only about themselves.
- I Work Alone: Inclined to do things by themselves and is dismissive of others' assistance.
- Jabba Table Manners: Has no or poor table manners.
- Jaded Washout: A cynical, washed-up loser.
- Jerkass: Treats other people like crap.
- Kids Are Cruel: Child prone to acts of cruelty.
- The Killjoy: A grump who wants to spoil everyone's fun.
- The Kindnapper: Someone who means to display benevolence by kidnapping those they intend to be nice to.
- The Klutz: Excessive clumsiness.
- Knight Templar: Vicious, but convinced of their own righteousness.
- Know-Nothing Know-It-All: Acts like a genius, but is anything but.
- Lack of Empathy: Doesn't have the ability to understand and share the feelings of others.
- Lack of Imagination: A character isn't very imaginative.
- Laborious Laziness: Working only to be lazy.
- Last-Second Showoff: Waiting because of skill.
- Lawful Pushover: A person of authority lacks the spine to use it.
- Lawful Stupid: Impractically pushes rules at the expense of reason.
- Lazy Bum: Profound laziness.
- Lazy Husband: Leeches off their spouse while not pulling any of their own weight.
- Leeroy Jenkins: Rushes into dangerous situations without thinking, often getting themselves or others hurt or worse.
- Legacy Seeker: A character is obsessed with leaving a lasting mark on the world.
- Lethal Chef: Has poor cooking skills, often to comical extremes.
- Lethal Klutz: Dangerously excessive clumsiness.
- Lethally Stupid: Stupid enough to endanger everyone around them.
- Literal-Minded: Doesn't understand figurative language.
- The Load: Contributes nothing to a group except weighing it down.
- Loony Fan: Follows someone everywhere out of obsessive admiration, either causing trouble or just creeping them out.
- Loser Protagonist: Whether it's because of circumstances within their control, or outside of it, they are considered a "loser" by the standards of the society and culture wherein they live.
- Lousy Lovers Are Losers: Being bad in bed is portrayed as a major character flaw.
- Love Hungry: Tries to force others to like or love them, not understanding that it doesn't work that way.
- Love Martyr: Willingly endures misery and abuse for love.
- Loves Only Gold: Obsessed with a particular form of wealth.
- Loving a Shadow: In love with the ideal of a person, rather than loving someone's true self.
- Lust: Driven by one's sex drives.
- Madonna-Whore Complex: Thinks all women are either promiscuous, immoral seductresses or sweet, naive ingenues. Also, that smart, capable, good women who enjoy sex don't exist.
- Manchild: An adult who possesses a very childlike or childish demeanor.
- Manipulative Bastard: Not above using and toying with others to get what they want.
- Married to the Job: Is so devoted to their career that it seriously affects their ability to hold any kind of relationship outside of it.
- Martyr Without a Cause: Will insist on making a Heroic Sacrifice even if it's unnecessary.
- Maternally Challenged: Not very good with kids.
- The Mentally Disturbed: Mental illnesses treated as mere character flaws.
- Miles Gloriosus: Makes themselves out to be the ultimate badass but proves to be a coward when faced with a real fight.
- The Millstone: The cause of most, if not all, of a group's failures.
- Minor Flaw, Major Breakup: Inability to accept partner's minor flaws.
- Misanthrope Supreme: A human character who hates the human race.
- Misery Trigger: This character will fall apart when pressed on a certain matter.
- Misplaced Sorrow: Prone to miss another character for shallow, selfish reasons, such as money.
- Mocking the Mourner: Using a character's loss as a means to antagonize them.
- Mood-Swinger: Has unstable emotions and acts unpredictably.
- Moral Myopia: Regularly does horrible things to other people, but gets offended when it's them who gets wronged.
- Moral Pragmatist: A character ignorantly does evil, until it's pointed out that doing good would help their cause much better.
- Motor Mouth: Speaks constantly or so quickly that it's hard to make out individual words.
- Mouthy Kid: Overly talkative, insolent, and loud child.
- Mr. Vice Guy: A Hero or morally good character with a character-defining negative trait.
- Ms. Red Ink: A spendthrift, wasting other people's money on self-satisfactory goods.
- Muse Abuse: Exploits their real life and the people around them for the sake of their art, with harmful results.
- Music/Age Dissonance: They listen to music outside their age demographic.
- My Beloved Smother: Thinks that she's being a good mom, but is actually holding her children back as people.
- Naïve Animal Lover: Wants to help animals, not realizing how dangerous some of them are.
- The Napoleon: Hot-blooded, aggressive, and extremely sensitive about their height.
- Narcissist: Extreme love and admiration for oneself.
- Neat Freak: Obsessed with cleanliness.
- Nervous Wreck: Panics over the slightest thing.
- Never Learned to Read: Being illiterate can severely limit one's understanding of the world.
- Never My Fault: Blames others for their own mistakes or misdeeds.
- Nobody Calls Me "Chicken"!: Can't turn down a challenge.
- No Indoor Voice: Talks more loudly than is usually considered appropriate.
- No Listening Skills: Terrible at listening.
- No Object Permanence: Inability to recognize that an object continues to exist even when you can't see, hear, or touch it.
- No Place for a Warrior: So used to being part of a military and leading a life of combat that they can't adjust to peacetime.
- No Sense of Direction: Gets lost easily.
- No Sense of Humor: Doesn't get jokes.
- No Sense of Personal Space: Gets way too close for comfort around others.
- No Social Skills: Ignorant of and confused by social customs.
- Nostalgia Filter: Believes that things of the past are better than things of the modern equivalents.
- No Sympathy: Doesn't feel pity or sorrow for other people's misfortunes.
- Not a Game: Doesn't take serious matters seriously.
- Not a Morning Person: Is unusually cranky and snippy when just woken up.
- Not-So-Well-Intentioned Extremist: Commits horrid acts for supposedly good causes, but actually does them for their own selfish reasons.
- Obliviously Evil: Can't comprehend that they're doing anything wrong.
- Oblivious to His Own Description: Unable to recognize a perfect definition of themselves.
- Oblivious to Love: Inability to notice any romantic intentions.
- Obsessed with Food: They pay more attention to food than anything else.
- Obsessively Organized: Obsessed with order, symmetry and following certain patterns of behavior.
- Old Windbag: Known for being an insufferable bore.
- Only in It for the Money: Doesn't care about anything except getting paid.
- Open Mouth, Insert Foot: Prone to vocal stupidity or self-incrimination.
- Opinion Flip Flop: Always agreeing with a flip-flopper instead of thinking for themselves.
- Opinion Myopia: Doesn't seem too keen on other peoples' opinions and shoves their own on others' throats.
- Paper Tiger: Looks and acts threatening and tough, but is anything but.
- Paralyzing Fear of Sexuality: Desires romance and/or sex, but is too afraid of sexuality.

- Seven Deadly Sins: A Christian classic interpretation of sin being composed of seven (sometimes eight) fundamental ones, each of which stands in for a character flaw.

- Shameless Fanservice Girl: Has no nudity taboo nor idea of modesty.
- Shipping Goggles: Sees every interaction between certain characters as signs of Ship Tease, even when there's no such thing involved.
- Shrinking Violet: Painfully shy.

- Stalker with a Crush: Expresses their love for someone by stalking them.
- Stopped Caring: Believes nothing really matters and only does what has to be done.
- Straw Nihilist: Considers life and existence to be meaningless and uses this as a justification for evil acts.
- Stupid Good: A character who's too nice for their own good.
- Sugar-and-Ice Personality: Acts aloof and apathetic despite really being sweet and kind.
- Super Gullible: Believes anything you tell them.
- Sympathetic Murder Backstory: Is a nice person, but once killed someone.
- Taking Advantage of Generosity: Demanding more of others who are being generous.
- Tall Poppy Syndrome: Holds contempt (or worse) for peers who are affluent, ambitious, talented or who otherwise stand out.
- Tautological Templar: Convinced that they're good to the point that everything they do is good by default.
- The Tease: Prone to tempt someone sexually with no intention of satisfying the desire aroused.
- Teen Hater: A character who possesses an inexplicable loathing of teenagers.
- Teens Are Monsters: Teenagers who act very cruel towards others.
- Terrible Artist: A character has comically bad artistic skills.
- Theory Tunnelvision: Holds on to their opinions even when they are contradicted by facts.
- Too Clever by Half: Very smart, but is irritatingly aware of it, they go beyond themselves, which often leads them to spectacular failures.
- Too Dumb to Live: Puts own life and limb at risk by doing things that no sane person would do.
- Too Hungry to Be Polite: The character has atrocious table manners because they're too hungry or don't know any better.
- Toxic Friend Influence: Gets friends into serious trouble or takes leave of their common sense when around a particular friend.
- Tragic Bigot: A character hates a group because of a painful/traumatic experience a member of the group inflicted upon them.
- Trash of the Titans: Extremely messy.
- Trash Talk: Prone to uttering insults intended to demoralize or intimidate someone.
- Trauma Button: Prone to breaking down when exposed to certain stimuli.
- Troll: Acts only to get a rise out of somebody else.
- Troubled Sympathetic Bigot: The character is sympathetic, but their views are not.
- Tsundere: Can't express their affection without getting angry.
- The Unapologetic: A character who doesn't apologize for their misdeeds.
- Undiscriminating Addict: An addict who will take anything to get high.
- The Unfettered: Will do anything to win.
- Unfit for Greatness: Wants to do good, but lacks the willpower, insight, and virtue to direct the power they've been given.
- Unintentionally Karmic: They mean well, but when it comes to helping bad guys, their efforts never go the way they plan.
- Ungrateful Bastard: Doesn't show appropriate gratitude.
- Unstoppable Rage: Don't make them angry. You won't like them when they're angry.
- Wangst: A character who laments on relatively minor things.
- Wants a Prize for Basic Decency: Demands praise for behaving in a situation like a decent human, disregarding that basic humanity is expected of others by default, rather than something above-and-beyond to be rewarded for.
- Wants to Be Hated: A character prefers to be hated rather than liked, and may do things to ensure that it happens.
- Wardrobe Flaw of Characterization: Tries to dress well, but can't quite pull it off.
- Weak-Willed: Easy to convince or brainwash.
- Weasel Co-Worker: Doesn't do their job and palms off the blame on others.
- Weight Woe: Obsessed with dieting.
- "Well Done, Dad!" Guy: Emotionally distant to someone who desperately wants their approval as a child or student.
- "Well Done, Son" Guy: Emotionally distant to someone who desperately wants their approval as a parent or a role model.
- Well-Intentioned Extremist: Someone who uses good ends to justify evil means.
- What You Are in the Dark: Fails to live up to their principles when no one is watching.
- Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Crippling and extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something, not necessarily snakes.
- Why We Can't Have Nice Things: Can't help but to destroy the greater things in their life.
- Wide-Eyed Idealist: Has a naive, rose-colored outlook in a world that's anything but.
- Wild Card: Unreliable, untrustworthy, and traitorous.
- With Us or Against Us: Views anyone who doesn't support them as an enemy. Often the trait of a fanatic.
- Workaholic: Compulsively works hard and long hours.
- Would Harm a Senior: No qualms about using violence against one or more elderly people.
