- All Work vs. All Play: One character works hard while the other slacks off.
- Ambitious, but Lazy: Someone tries to achieve great things without having to work.
- Basement-Dweller: A character who still lives with their parents and hasn’t applied for a job.
- Beauty Breeds Laziness: An attractive character is lazy because of the perks of their good looks.
- Brilliant, but Lazy: A smart character who is too lazy to apply their knowledge.
- Cats Are Lazy: Cats are depicted as lazy.
- Creature of Habit: A character whose laziness might be why they prefer to stick to routine.
- Deliberate Under-Performance: A character intentionally performs below everyone's standards for them.
- Diligent Hero, Slothful Villain: A hard-working hero is contrasted with a lazy villain.
- Dismotivation: A character doesn't have the drive to succeed. Often a reason why they're lazy.
- Fat Slob: Overweight people are depicted as lazy and unhygienic.
- The Gods Must Be Lazy: Lazy divine beings.
- Idle Rich: Rich people who hardly do anything.

- Lethal Negligence: People are endangered, harmed, or killed because of a another character's laziness.
- NEET: A character who doesn't attend school and/or is not employed at a job.
- Playing Games at Work: Someone's goofing off at work and not doing their job.
- Pretty Freeloaders: Female character(s) who live with a male character and are too lazy to get a job.
- Professional Slacker: A lazy employee.
- Ridiculous Procrastinator: Someone who ridiculously puts off something 'til the last minute.
- Sleepyhead: A chronically drowsy character.
- The Slacker: A character who is determined to get by with as little effort as possible.
- Sluggish Seal: Seals, walruses, and sea lions stereotyped as lazy or slow creatures.
- Sluggish Sloths: The stereotype of sloths to be slow in everything as well as lazy in media.
- Surveillance Station Slacker: Someone who's meant to watch something is lazy and goofs off.
- Suspiciously Idle Officers: A corrupt employee is never seen doing their job.
- Too Proud for Lowly Work: A character refuses to do work that they feel is beneath them.
- The Watcher: A character who doesn't do much of anything except watch other characters and occasionally give advice.
- Wins by Doing Absolutely Nothing: Someone wins by doing nothing and letting their enemy(s) take themselves out.
