Welcome to the Trope Pantheons thread! Please read the rules:

    Rules
Rules. The following are not suggestions or tips, but things that have to be followed:
  • When writing a profile, take note of the following:
    • Gods cannot be followers or high priests for obvious reasons. The 'gods' have ascended meaning there is no need for said character to be a follower of another if they have ascended.
    • No hype profiles, please. 'Hype Profiles' are profiles that have been made out of ongoing events and have not been around for a long time. This creates 'hype' due to popularity and certain elements either through certain scenes, memes, dramatic acting or considered overly awesome. They are not bad tropes but building a portfolio solely for that is a bad idea, as they do not say a thing about representing the trope best (unless it's those trope concepts that they are trying to embody for a long time)
      • You can see one if the profile is only showing off how awesome they are or suddenly pushing how 'significant' they are thanks to the just very recent events rather than respecting the longstanding good representations of the trope. And usually having... minimum portfolio or flavor texts and being a bit too generalized or self-contained to events from within their home series instead of interacting with other Pantheon members.
  • When posting in the forum, take note of the following:
    • When you suggest a God, please explain why they fit the trope. Not everyone is going to understand just "X should be the God of Y because they exemplify the trope" off the bat, especially if they're unfamiliar with the work.
    • You must use the Trope Pantheons discussion thread in the forums if you wish to add a new deity, story, something else of importance to the Trope Pantheon canon, or reworking an existing deity (be it simply improving their existing profile or changing their title).
      • For new and reworked deities, 3 [tup] means the profile will have a one week waiting period.
      • For new and reworked deities, 4 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 5 [tup] is an automatic ascension for new and reworked deities.
      • Speaking of reworks, for anyone that wants to improve such profiles, they have to review the current trope the character(s) has and see if it still holds up or if there is a better rep for their trope.
    • For adding new Treasures to The Great Treasury or new Dominions to the Dominions, the following rules apply:
      • For new Treasures or Dominions, 3 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 4 [tup] is an automatic addition to the Great Treasury or Dominions.
    • Do not repost a profile in the forums more than twice in a day if noticeable changes have not been made in between. If a profile is posted a third time in a row without noticeable alterations, it will be downvoted. This is so spamming of no-effort profiles is less frequent and to prevent tropers from getting aggravated seeing the same profile over and over. The minimum acceptable change has to be a single flavour text.
    • The Pantheon is not a mouthpiece for you to voice your opinions on certain characters. You may like certain characters more than others, but do not make the mistake of making profiles for characters you like look like Character Shilling.
    • Tropers new to the Pantheon are barred from approving or downvoting profiles until they have ascended at least two profiles.
    • Do not include fan reception in any profiles. It has nothing to do with the character themselves and will create unnecessary conflict.
    • Write a detailed explanation on why the character is the best candidate for deity of that trope. If people disagree with you, do not force it on the people.
    • Keep in mind that if you still want to try to find a trope for a particular character, you are only given three chances to find a particular trope for them. If a suggestion goes past three possible tropes, then it will come off as shoehorning a character into the Pantheon just for the sake of that character to be there.
      • On a related note, even if a character does have a free trope being suggested, there is still a limit of three attempts for suggesting that character for that trope. If no one responds to that certain proposal after being posted three times, then it will get to the point where the idea will be seen as being shoehorned into the Pantheon. In addition, the idea needs to be considered acceptable and approved because they are good, not for the sake of pitying others because no one is responding to their idea.
  • When posting Pantheon related stuff to the wiki, take note of the following:
    • Do not put a link to these Pantheon pages into the main wiki page. The moment you want to add in a main Characters page that the character is a God of this trope, do not do it. If you see leftovers of this practice, inform the forum and use the cutlist. This also goes to the Trivia page. The only exception to this rule is if a page in the Pantheon could be confused for a page in Main, like Good Colors, Evil Colors and Good and Evil Colors.
    • Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment ALSO applies here. Do not bring things that would incite fights, even if it is what is currently the hot topic and might be 'urgent'. For example, the political scene and some really bad politicians. We are not here to fight at each other, so don't suggest things that go to that direction, this is a fictional Pantheon after all.
    • To add a Pantheon page for a certain work, 4 or more characters coming from the same series/franchise should be ascended before adding the page. For Creator specific pages, 4 deities coming from the same creator and 2 individual work pages coming from the same creator is the minimum to warrant a page.
    • Do not create a trope page for a story until the story is fully completed.

    Instructions and Tips
Here are some tips one should keep in mind when editing:

  • Preparing to write:
    • First thing to do before present a profile is to go to the Trope Pantheons discussion thread. In the forums, you must discuss with other users on adding ideas and seek their approval with sound reasoning. You can also get some assistance in the forum thread by either asking for help and those interested asking if they can help. Submissions that are added without discussion are likely to be deleted and those who violate those rules by adding Pantheon content without discussion will get reported to the mods.
    • If you feel the need to remove a character for some reason (poor quality, outdated titles, etcetera) and replace him/her with another or outright rework, please see what the other tropers think about this in the discussion thread before doing anything hasty. Use good reasoning to see if your idea can easily replace the character present without drawing out your statement or giving too ambiguous claims most do not understand.
    • Please be sure to consult others in the discussion about what you want to work before making the profile. This is done to see if your proposal is the best representative and so, in case your profile is turned down, you do not waste time writing something that others might not find suitable.
      • In the same vein, if you adopt a profile from another troper, it is recommended that you make an announcement that you have done so on the discussion thread. More often than not, a trope that was reserved for something was given away to someone else. Check the Related tab on the top of a page to see if a trope or character has been reserved by a user.
    • If, for whatever reason, you are writing about a God who just happens to be a person in real life, just try to be very careful about what you decide to say. Do not try to make the editing seem too meta (self-referential) and use the aformentioned creativity to create hypothetical scenarios towards fictional characters.
  • When writing a profile for a character, here are a few things to note:
    • All deities should be sorted by their divine ranking. Put Overdeities on the top of the page and Quasideities on the bottom. Also be sure to add them in alphabetical order by their first/given name (can be reversed if it is Eastern ordered). For a group, if there is no official name for them all list down all their names by order of relevance or (if too long to list) title them as Insert Name Here Main Characters or some other identifiable title along the same lines.
    • The maximum number of tropes that a god can have is two, but do not try to abuse that fact. If you need to use a second trope to specify a certain thing about their position, that can be excused either because said character represents their trope choice very well alongside the first trope. It is still generally encouraged to only have one trope.
    • A trope can only belong to one profile at a time. The only time two profiles can share a trope is if there are explicit variations listed in the trope page proper (e.g. Muscle Angst is held by both Biscuit Krueger and Chihiro Fujisaki as the former represents "Too Much Muscle" and the latter represents "Not Enough Muscle")
    • If the character you are about to add to a House already exists in another, make sure to mention that this person has spots in other House as well. Up to 2 places can be made for a deity, with the sole exceptions being those at the Main House to highlight those characters’ importance to the Pantheon’s lore.
    • For a character's theme song, try to avoid calling it "Theme of God X" or "Theme of (Show where God X originates from)". If possible, try to find out if the song has an actual name through research. Most importantly, it has to be part their series’ official soundtracks from media. Do not list songs that are made by fans or outside sources. If they were not specifically used as music for that specific character, then they do not count. Furthermore, it has to be a general theme specifically made for that characters’ appearances, not some generic music that plays for many other instances not related to the character in question.
    • For images, when adding an image for your chosen character, it is highly recommended to use a stylized image that embodies the character or renders that also highlights a character’s behavior (such as cool poses). Most images should be from the main adaptations of the character, unless the images from the other media are of a higher quality than the adaptation. Unless it is needed, do not use fanart for images. If you are, please attribute to the original artist. Due to the website’s dark mode, removing white backgrounds from an image is paramount. This website is suggested to do the background removal. If an image you have takes up too much bytes, it is suggestible to use this site to reduce the byte size. If the byte is still too big, put the compressed image to other sites (or even the same one) to compress even further. Use wikias to look for better images, as even wikias for the series might not contain good official images.
    • Creativity is your friend. While it is not recommended to get too ditzy at your ideas, it is best that when writing a profile for a certain character, do you think of capable scenarios between X and Y. Tip: do not use shallow examples (X wields a sword and Y wields one too) and try to think of relationships that makes sense (i.e those characters that are shout-outs for another).
  • Pantheon Content:
    • Some series or genres will eventually have greater representation in the Pantheon than others. This is unavoidable, but a little diversity helps to make you not look like a shill per say. Try to ensure that if you add a deity from a popular series, make sure that it is because they are a good representative for the trope in question, and not just because they are connected to another deity in their respective canon.
      • As far as deities from actual mythologies, there is generally expectation to build the profiles off interactions from fictional portrays rather than basing it entire from the actual myth. Therefore, a mythological deity should be more of a Composite Character whose main identity is from the actual myth.
    • Occasionally there will be Gods that carry a title without a trope. This is not forbidden, but it is well advised not to abuse them. The only house that a tropeless profile are wholly allowed is the House of Food. Mainly due to most food items lacking tropes, and adding tropes about said foodstuffs is slightly unnecessary. However, the character being ascended for their choice of a food, or food-related thing must be a decently good representative of said item. (i.e their Trademark Favorite Food, or something that they are closely associated with In-Universe, or both).
    • For Dominions and Treasures profiles, always consider what made those places/objects popular in the first place. Were they plot-important, identifiable imagery or have a unique aspect of it? Do not just bring regular objects under the basis of following a certain canon.
  • For Profile Standards:
    • Flavor text is used to describe certain things about a character, place or object. To avoid short ones, it is recommended to write flavor text with 4-7 sentences that can fill around 2 lines each. Be warned that adding too many sentences does not equal good flavor text as it is not an essay of sorts (unless words are substantial and do add to the overall line).
    • Character Profiles of a certain person should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 7 (at the minimum) tropes describing their character.
      • Flavor text count for a deity profile should have by minimum, 10 (depending if the character in question has enough relationships/characterization) to 15 with a maximum of 20-25 for an individual profile.
      • On the other hand, group profiles (profiles of a group that has 4 or more members) have their maximum flavor text count to 15 minimum, giving individual lines for the other members of the group (unless the members are not as characterized) up to 30 at max.
    • Dominion profiles of a certain place should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 5 (at the minimum) tropes describing the context of the place.
      • Flavor text count should range at least 10 to 15.
    • Treasure profiles (inanimate objects without a trope) should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 6 (at the minimum) tropes that describes the object itself.
      • Flavor text count should be at least 7 flavor text up to 12 to constitute a treasure profile.

    Divine Ranking System
  • Overdeity: Omnipotent-level Reality Warpers capable of manipulating the entire universe (or at least the world) at will. Within their own universe they are believed to be omnipotent, or at least impossible-to-completely-destroy embodiments or concepts.
  • Greater Gods: High-level Reality Warpers and that are extremely powerful (capable of destroying or changing anywhere from a large city to a planet at will) and very strong non-reality warpers capable of doing the same thing.
  • Intermediate Gods: Deities at this level are capable of strong but specialized powers such as hydrokinesis, pyrokinesis, etc. without major drawbacks and low level Reality Warpers capable of affecting their immediate area at will.
  • Lesser Gods: Capable of highly specific or little power on their own, or suffer from Power at a Price. However, they may be able to ruthlessly exploit their power or combine it with just being badass enough to make up for it.
  • Demigods: Basically the Badass Normals of the pantheon, making up for their lack of abilities with strength, strategy, and/or planning.
  • Quasideities: Any otherwise normal human, human equivalent, or below without any special powers or training will fall here.

    Templates
Template for adding a new deity:

God X, God/dess of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Rank: This can range from Quasideity, Demigod, Lesser God, Intermediate God, Greater God, to Overdeity, based on representation of power mentioned above.
  • Symbol: An image or icon used to represent the deity.
  • Theme Song: Official song (in other words, no fan music, regardless of quality) that usually is used in affiliation with the character. If the deity is a musician this will most likely be their Signature Song. If possible, give a link for reference, preferably on either a website like Soundcloud or YouTube.
  • Alignment: Good, evil, neutral etc. Forget about The Great Character Alignment Debate here, the Pantheon is one of the few places where you can assign Dungeons & Dragons alignment to characters that don't have alignment system. After all, the Pantheon is based on D&D and is made for fun.
  • For Pokémon deities only:
    • Gender: Defines the gender of the Pokémon; if genderless, it instead defines what gender they identify as.
    • Ability: Provides the Pokémon's ability. If they can Mega Evolve, the new ability is listed as well.
    • Moves: Defines the four moves used by a Pokémon. A Z-Move may also be listed.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the character.
  • Domains: Things that the character has influence over.
  • Herald: Non-ascended loyal character that is from the same series as the ascended character.
  • High Priest: Non-ascended like heralds, but not from the same series, and can serve as a worthy replacement in case something would happen. They can be served as part-time workers in case the originals are busy with some jobs. Co-Godhood is accepted depending on the approval of the originals, usually if the co-deity is from the same series.
  • Followers: Non-ascended characters that are not part of the Pantheon, but would probably worship this character by the fact that they share the ascended character's trope.
  • Relationships between ascended characters go here with your chosen character, it goes something like this:
    • Allies: Members of the Pantheon that are allies, those that share the same values as them and would theoretically be friends with them.
    • Rivals: Members of the Pantheon that are rivals, people who may look at your character with suspicion or a challenge.
    • Enemies: Members of the Pantheon that are foes, those who would see your chosen character as a threat, either on their pespective or yours.
    • Additional Character Relationships: Members of the Pantheon that do not fit in various relationships (examples include Enemy Mine, Vitriolic Best Buds, Teeth-Clenched Teamwork, Headbutting Heroes, Friendly Enemy, Friendly Rival, Just Friends, etc.), allies, rivals, or enemies.
    • Partner: Defines a partnership with an ascended deity and Mon-type. (if any)
    • Feared by/Fears: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon notably fear or are feared by.
    • Respected by/Respects: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon respect or are respected by.
    • Opposed by/Opposes: Not necessarily the same as "Enemies", but this is used for any deity whom the members of the Pantheon directly opposes or is opposed by (basically the opposite of "Respects") terms of certain viewpoints, regardless of alignment.
    • Pitied by/Pities: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon feel pity for or are found pitiable by.
    • Conflicting Opinion: Sometimes, the Deities argue over specific themes and philosophies.
  • Add the Intro. The intro is made up of two trivia, the Ascension Text (or just the Ascension) and The Bio. Both are necessary, but which order you use for them may vary depending on the profile in question. It may be better for one profile to have The Bio first and the Ascension second or vice-versa, although for the most part the order is irrelevant:
    • The Ascension Text: This the story of how the character got into the Pantheon and/or was ascended. There are many ways for this to happen. They may be tricked into it or have simply wandered into the Pantheon, they may have had an already ascended character bring them in, they may already be in the Pantheon (via being another deity's Herald or sharing a trope) and got "promoted", or some combination of the above. Anything is possible in the Pantheon, so use your imagination, but try to incorporate their trope into the story, if possible.
    • The Bio: A brief synopsis on the character's backstory. No need for the character's entire life/production history, but just give enough that those who don't know the character can get an idea of how the character works.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Deities/Characters is 10-15 (15-20 for group profiles) at minimum to 20-25 (30 for group profiles) at maximum.

Template for Dominions profiles:

Place X, Place of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Alignment: Refers to the dominion's role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the dominion.
  • Domains: Things that the place has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the location has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as where the dominion is linked to, note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said dominion, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Dominion is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Dominions is 10 at minimum to 15 at maximum.

Template for Treasure profiles:

The name of the item in here (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Appearance: A shortened description of the item's looks with some notable features also mentioned.
  • Class: Refer to the Treasure Classification System in the Great Treasury.
  • Alignment: Refers to the objects' role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Museum Check: A note that says whether the item is viewable by the public.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the item.
  • Domains: Things that the item has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the item has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as where the item is linked to (especially the original owner of the item), note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said object, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Treasure is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Treasures is 7 at minimum to 12 at maximum.

What is the current policy on Kirby gods? Is the series over represented? Also, reposting Belloq:

Dr. René Emile Belloq, the God Whose Head Exploded (René Belloq, Bellosh [by Sallah])

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/belloq.jpg
  • New House: Manners of Death
  • [tup]s:
  • Demigod
  • Symbol: A hand grabbing a golden coin
  • Alignment: Neutral Evil
  • Portfolio: Your Head Asplode, Affably Evil, Evil Counterpart, French Jerk, Shadow Archetype, Not So Different
  • Domains: Archeology, Intelligence
  • Current Employers: The GUAE
  • Rival: Indiana Jones
  • Enemies: Captain Picard, Boba Fett, Lara Croft, Nathan Drake, Wario
  • Extremely Teeth Clenched Teamwork with: Major Toht, The Swarm,SCP-542, Red Skull,
  • Superiors: George Lucas, Steven Spielberg
  • Fears: YHVH
  • Interested in: Pokémon
  • Dr. René Belloq is one of the most cunning and ruthless so called “archeologists” in the Pantheon and Indiana Jones’ rival. He is highly manipulative and usually takes advantage of others to do his dirty work rather than do the heavy lifting himself. Whether it’s stealing his rival Indiana Jones’ work or taking advantage of dictatorial regimes, he is a true threat to anyone unwise (or unfortunate) to have dealings with him.
    • However, it’s not his clever mind games or corrupt archeological exploits that got him into the Pantheon, it’s the fact that his head messily exploded when he tried to use the power of the Lost Ark. He is not happy about that and doesn’t appreciate others pointing it out.
  • He is positively terrified of YHVH considering that only a fragment of YHVH’s power caused his infamous head explosion. In fact, he’s terrified of the house of religion and faith in general. He’s actually started refusing to take jobs related to artifacts of any religion, which naturally makes finding work harder, but it’s best to be safe in his opinion.
  • Speaking of jobs, he is currently employed by the GUAE, as they don’t have any gods that specialize in archaeology and Belloq needed a job. Right now he is mainly reading up on the histories of the various locations in the Pantheon.
    • Things do get awkward when he has to work with any Nazi gods, as they utterly detest him after the “incident” with the Lost Ark that they heard about through Major Toht. In fact, Red Skull (the leader of the Nazis in the Pantheon) has secretly put a massive bounty on his head that several Bounty Hunter gods have tried to collect. Red Skull was initially hesitant to spend a large amount money to track him down, but Toht insists that they can’t leave any loose ends alive. They have managed to keep it a secret from Belloq and still work with him if Melkor directly orders it.
      • The thing is, the Toht wasn’t entirely honest about what happened. According to him, Belloq Weaponized the Ark’s power to kill the soldiers, figuring he didn’t need them anymore but died when the power caused his head to explode. What actually happened was that everyone there (other than Indiana Jones and Marion Ravenwood) was killed because they didn’t close their eyes when it was opened. The reason Toht told this lie was so that Belloq would be held responsible for the death of the platoon instead of him, and therefore be the subject of the inevitable retribution.
  • One Bounty Hunter threat that Belloq has to deal with is Boba Fett. They have fought against each other twice and both times Belloq had to fake his death in order to survive. There’s only so much that a gun and attempts to talk your way out will do against beskar armor. By the 3rd time Red Skull tried to hire Fett, he couldn’t meet his prices.
  • Captain Picard is disgusted by him for turning an old hobby of his into a morally wrong way to make profit. He thinks he is a relic of a time when humans were fixated on money that should stay in the past. Not helping matters is that they work for opposite alliances that have been enemies since the beginning.
  • He also has developed an interest in Pokémon after an archeological dig in the Pokemon World. After all the bounty hunting misadventures, he is trying to acquire one as a bodyguard, without much luck so far. He is especially interested in Golurk both as an archeological curiosity and a bodyguard. Fortunately, Golurk is not in the Pantheon. Yet.
  • Indiana Jones isn’t the only Adventure Archeologist in the Pantheon that have made enemies of Belloq. Both Nathan Drake and Lara Croft have had nasty encounters with him as well.

    • Drake had a shootout with him at some point over a Macguffin of some kind in the Treasury that ended with both of them badly injured and an interloper named Wario stealing the prize. The two have been enemies to this day.
    • Croft meanwhile was exiting a tomb she had just raided when she exited only to find herself held at gunpoint by Belloq. She managed to fool him into thinking that most of the treasure was already taken and that she had found nothing but a few antique coins. Naturally, as soon as he was distracted by them, she gave he a swift kick in the jaw and ran off victoriously. That trick may have worked on Indiana Jones twice, but Belloq did have backup both times while this time he was both alone, and up against a different person.

[down] Did you read my edits to the profile? I added more specific reasons as to why they are listed as enemies. Or do you just dislike non-static character relationships?

[down] Edit: I think that’s a good compromise for now. But the problem is, I know absolutely nothing about either of them.

[down] I edited it so that the Nazis are under Teeth-Clenched Teamwork.

[up] For the fifth freaking time, please have the Nazis be Belloq's allies. He hasn't outlived his usefulness to any of them, and save for the Ark incident which wasn't even the man's fault, he's still a very useful asset. If you can do this change, then maybe you could list some actual enemies, namely Allied Intelligence agents such as Lt. Karl Fairburne and Lt. Mike Powell.

Edit: Yeah, I did read the expanded parts. Maybe change it to be Teeth-Clenched Teamwork with the Nazis if ever instead of outright enemies. In any case, Belloq would still be enemies of the Office of Strategic Services, a US intelligence agency active during the 1940s and direct predecessor of the CIA. Two ascended deities whom I have mentioned are members of this agency.

Second edit: Alright, good enough for now. Just keep adding some more texts and polishing this profile, and you should be good.

ARCHIVE, Goddess of Archive Trawl (The Accumulated Record Collection House Internal Volume Extender, Not!Cortana, The Pantheon's First OC)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dg_fd30v0aa4mum.jpeg
Art by Qing Han. Rest in Peace.
  • Potential House: The House of Knowledge
  • Rank: Unranked. She is no Goddess.
  • Symbol: The silhouette of the Greek Parthenon with a glowing blue light in the centre.
  • Theme: "Arcane World" by Auvic.
  • Alignment: True Neutral
  • Portfolio: Keeper of the Pantheon's Database, Benevolent A.I., can inhabit a robotic body to physically walk, Can glitch from time to time, Secret-Keeper, Split Personality, Original Character, Enjoys cheesy soap operas, Archive Trawl
  • Domains: Artificial Intelligence, Secrets, Originality, Information
  • Allies: The Gods and Goddesses of the Pantheon.
  • Enemies: Again, the Gods and Goddesses of the Pantheon. note
  • Uncertain Of: Herself
  • Hello. Allow me to properly introduce myself. I am the Trope Pantheon's own artificial intelligence unit; the Accumulated Record Collection House Internal Volume Extender. You may call me ARCHIVE. My purpose in the Pantheon is to, well, archive. Well, let me explain. You see, I was created to handle the Database, a vast library of information chronicling the various Gods and Goddess and their worlds, along with other tidbits and details that mortals are often curious about. Sometimes the deities will call upon me to share details with them, though they are not allowed to access the most secure files in my system. Believe me, the more evil ones have tried and failed.
    • Unlike the Gods that mingle in this realm, I was not ascended into the Pantheon. I was created in this land by several in their ranks following the second year of recorded events. Anthony Stark, Otacon and Seto Kaiba were insistent that the Database be properly protected from attacks from the GUAE and other dark alliances. One might say I have a bit of "Jarvis" in me, but I do not consider him my father. Once fully created, I was transferred to the House of Knowledge, where I quickly went to work reorganizing the files within to make them more, what's the word? "User-accessible."
  • The Gods in the Pantheon are my greatest allies and, at the same time, my worst enemies. Some of them are kind and appreciate the insights I give them, while others simply want to use me for their own malevolent schemes. The evil ones desire something from me. They wish to know the location of the True Earth; the Earth where all beings are but fiction to the humans inhabiting it. I will not allow such information to be revealed. That would spoil the story.
  • Now some have commented that I occasionally act out of character, that I glitch, change colours and gain a twisted persona, sometimes calling me soulless. I can assure you that is all misinformation and false clai-clai-clai-clai-

Hello, I'm new to this thread and the forum. I had an idea for a new Treasure: The Memento Mortem, a magical pocketwatch from Return Of The Obra Dinn. When used on a dead body, it transports the user to a time-frozen flashback of the moment the deceased was killed, and allows you to hear their final few moments. It works on humans and animals, it doesn't require the remains to be complete or intact, and it also works on corpses visible inside its own flashbacks. I think it's a cool concept, and I imagine it's ripe for some interesting interactions, much like the Death Notes. Thoughts? (Not an April Fool's joke, I just have really unlucky timing.)

[up]Welcome to the Pantheon, and that sounds like an intriguing idea. Give us a few more deets, and remember to read the instructions at the top of the page. Too many ignore it for some reason.

Magus, God of Barrier Change Bosses (The Fiendlord, The Prophet, Janus, Maoh, Jyaki)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/magus2_3.png
  • Intermediate God
  • Symbol: His scythe
  • Theme: Battle with Magus
  • Alignment: True Neutral
  • Portfolio: The Man Behind the Monsters, making Badass Boasts, Dark Magic, Adaptive Ability (Fire, Ice, Lightning) Which He Exploits as a Boss, Climax Boss, upsetting backstory and dangerous power, ambivalence toward being a faction's leader, joining the party late in the game, Hidden Heart of Gold
  • Domains: Elemental Skills, Boss Fights, Darkness
  • Followers: The Barrier Trio, The Emperor and Empress Shadows
  • Enemies: Lavos
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Crono, Lucca, Marle, Frog, Robo, Ayla, Serge, just about anyone really
  • Magus ascended during his search for his lost sister, Schala. Like with the mystics, Magus decided to keep the company of the gods only as a means of furthering his goals. Magus feels that godhood may increase his chances of finding his sister.
    • Many of the warmer hearts in the House of Family were touched by this story, though Magus disregards their reactions and minds his own business.
  • He was annoyed to find that Lavos is alive in the Pantheon, and has plans to kill him. Magus has met another version of himself from another timeline, who witnessed Schala assimilate with Lavos to become the Time Devourer, and thinks that killing Lavos may be the answer.
    • With his single-minded determination to stop Lavos, Magus has paid no attention to the fact that his old foe, Frog, has ascended (though Frog was the one who hated Magus, Magus himself never cared). Magus is similarly apathetic regarding the other people who took part in the fight against Lavos, but is willing to join them when it regards keeping that beast in check.
    • Serge, who also fought Lavos, instantly got his support. Helps one of Serge's companions, the wizard Guile, might have been Magus.
  • Some folks have mistaken him for an alternate form of Android 17, though the two have little in common with each other, and don't tend to cross paths.
  • Aang was actually impressed by Magus's ability to wield multiple elements at once much in the same way he can, though lightning and fire are the same in his world, and darkness isn't one of the elements. Magus has little interest in Aang's duties, but tells him that eliminating Lavos will help bring balance, and will be ready to help him should the two come to blows.
  • Sometimes, a small, purple cat can be seen wandering Magus's temple, and following him around when he's present. Magus will not respond to any statements on the matter.

I’m sure you can find one somewhere.

Here comes Saya again. Any more ideas?

Saya, Goddess of Crossover Exclusive Villains

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/saya_09.png
  • Intermediate Goddess
  • Symbol: Her rack of katanas and grenade launcher
  • Theme Song: Evil Profusion
  • Alignment: Chaotic Evil
  • Portfolio: Walking Armory, Is a were-fox, Evil Is Sexy, Manipulative Bitch, Really 1000 Years Old, Crazy Prepared, Tends to retreat when beaten
  • Domain(s): Foxes, Chaos, World Merging, Weapons
  • Heralds: Dokugozu and Dokumezu (her bodyguards), Sheath, the Katanas, the rest of Ouma
  • High Priests: Shirley, Solego, Strike, The Mawgu, Abyss
  • Allies: M. Bison, Jedah Dohma, Nemesis, Sigma,Vile, Lord Vortech, Tzeentch
  • Enemies: Reiji and Xiaomu and all deities who are allies with them, the Avengers, X-Men, and all other heroic Marvel deities, Ahri, Tamamo-no-Mae, Yomi, Ran Yokumo
  • Interested In: SCP-953, Kurama
  • This is Saya, the top agent of a group known as Ouma, which seeks to merge all worlds together and create unbridled chaos by creating a monster called Byaku Shin. Saya has tried many times to accomplish this goal and has usually gained the aid of some of the most famous (or unknown) villains in video games. But every time, her plans are thwarted by Reiji and Xiaomu, who work with the enemies of these villains to take them and Saya down.
  • One day in the Pantheon, Reiji and Xiaomu were meeting with each other, when Reiji suddenly experienced a huge bout of pain where his scar was. Xiaomu recoiled in horror, as she realized that could only mean one thing- Saya was back yet again. Sure enough, Saya appeared from a Rift with all of Ouma in tow, uncertain of where she had ended up. As usual, she was quick to make her presence known to Reiji and Xiaomu, but was shocked to find that many of the heroes who had worked with them were also in the Pantheon, and she was forced to retreat after a fight. Quickly managing to ascend under Crossover-Exclusive Villain, Saya and her minions set up a base to resume their plans.
  • Saya was quick to find some of the villains whom she had worked with during her plans, including M. Bison, Jedah Dohma, Nemesis, Sigma, and Vile. These villains were surprised to see that she was back, but agreed to help her with her plans. For her part, Saya is hoping more of them ascend so that she can bolster her ranks further.
    • From Bison, Saya also learned of the GUAE, and quickly applied to join them. The GUAE accepted her into their ranks quickly, and Saya personally made certain to keep in the good graces of all of the assembled villains. She has no plans to usurp Melkor, but does intent to have him defend her should her plan of merging the worlds come true.
  • When Lord Vortech caught wind of Saya and her plans, he approached her about merging worlds together, as this was also his plan, though with different means of accomplishing it. Saya soon formed an alliance with Vortech, allowing the two of them to become even more dangerous.
  • As she’s a very competent planner and was able to change her original plan on the fly when it became apparent that obtaining the Soul Edge was impossible, Saya was quick to ally herself with Tzeentch and gain the aid of his forces. Tzeentch attempted to get the other Chaos Gods to work with her, but they felt she did not exemplify them enough.
  • Saya’s plans have often drawn the aid of some of Capcom's greatest villains, with the three biggest powers (the Infernal Village, Shadaloo and the forces of the Grandmaster Meio) in her first plan working with her on her two subsequent attempts. As a result, when the Avengers and X-Men learned of her presence, they quickly informed all the other heroes from their universe about Saya and what she is capable of. As a result, the Marvel heroes are on high alert should Saya try anything.
  • Being a werefox, many of the other kitsune in the Pantheon feel uneasy around her. Ahri, Tamamo-no-Mae, Yomi, and Ran Yokumo all personally feel particularly uneasy, as she wields no magic but instead elemental katanas and a grenade launcher. For her part, Saya thinks they’re all stuck in the past and need to adapt.
    • That being said, there are two kitsune Saya is interested in. The first is SCP-953, who she wishes to control to attack people with, even though some have tried to tell her it does not like to be called a kitsune. Similarly, Saya believes Kurama is a good source of energy for her plans, but she knows she’ll have to contend with many of the deities from his realm to capture him.

Anything more to add to Thouzer or does this rework look good to go?

Thouzer, God of Abhorrence Towards Love (Thouther, Souther, Holy Emperor, Emperor of Nanto)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_1legends_revive_thouzer.png
  • Intermediate God
  • Symbol: The Holy Cross Mausoleum
  • Theme Music: Souther's Pyramid
  • Alignment: Lawful Evil
  • Portfolio: A God Am I, Heart in the Wrong Place, Dark and Troubled Past, Straw Vulcan, Evil Sounds Deep
  • Domains: Tyrants, War, Mentality
  • Allies: Geese Howard & Rugal Bernstein, The Slavers (to some extent)
  • Rivals: Raoh, Immortan Joe, Tai Lung
  • Worthy Opponent: Kenshiro
  • Enemies: Toki, Max Rockatansky, Terra Branford, all ascended children
  • Foil to: Zonda
  • On generally good terms with: John Kreese
  • Nanto Hōoh Ken is just one type of fighting style within the broader spectrum of Nanto Seiken and it is a fighting style that can only have one successor. This was something that Thouzer learned the hard way after inheriting it from Ohgai, the previous user of Nanto Hōoh Ken who was a mentor/father figure to a then-orphaned Thouzer, via killing him. As a result of this, Thouzer vowed to cast aside his emotions and the concept of love was seen as a weakness to him. After playing a role in causing the Nanto Seiken branch to fall apart, Thouzer became a tyrant willing to enslave children and have them build a massive pyramid meant to be both a monument to honor Ohgai and be a symbol of Thouzer’s reign over the apocalyptic wasteland.
  • Thouzer found himself in a rather unusual place some time after his death at the hands of Kenshiro. He wasn’t sure how he got here or how he came back to life, but he was told that there were a set of people who were inspired by Thouzer’s actions and stories and, despite the inevitable resistance that came with trying to get someone like him in the Pantheon, those efforts were rewarded. Thouzer learned what the Pantheon is and the large scope of its setting and figured that while continuing what he had started was an obvious option, it was clear that rebuilding his empire was going to come with some new challenges in addition to what Thouzer had gone up against. Nevertheless, he remained determined to achieve his goals and make his mark where he sees fit.
  • Following his resurrection and getting accustomed to the Pantheon, Thouzer figured that the three Hokuto Shinken practitioners that he met in the past would be present and as it turned out, those three had very much refined their skills ever since Thouzer perished at the hands of Kenshiro. While Kenshiro very much understood Thouzer’s tragic past before becoming a tyrant, it didn’t change the fact that Thouzer caused untold misery towards innocents and Kenshiro knew that he would have to battle Thouzer again at some point. As for the other practitioners of Hokuto Shinken, Toki is aware of Thouzer’s secret (that being a misplaced heart which gave Thouzer Nigh-Invulnerability) and Raoh had gone up against Thouzer in the past, though such battles between the two don’t occur all that much given Raoh’s plans.
  • Him kidnapping children and using them for slave labor to build a monument meant to declare himself a powerful figure of a ruined world was met with predictable scorn from deities dedicated to protecting the well-being of children. The Pantheon being home to a number of individuals who value and children and have power comparable to Kenshiro (and the setting mostly being less of a hellscape in comparison) meant that Thouzer’s attempts to build his monument via child labor were met with much more difficulty than before. This isn’t getting to the fact that there are younger deities that are more than capable of putting up a fight against Thouzer, whose martial arts skills are quite formidable as is, if they are at risk of being targeted by him. Even in the face of this, Thouzer has merely brushed off those powerless dissenters as worthless, though he is more than aware of how much of a problem those powered children present towards his goals.
    • On that note, one particular deity who despises Thouzer for that aspect of his character was Terra Branford. When she was young, Terra was enslaved and forced to become a murderer against her will. Since then, she has vowed to fight for good and given that she is good with children, she was repulsed that someone like Thouzer would kidnap a lot of children to force them to build a monument in his name. She considers it just as bad as being enslaved to become a killer and she, among others who hold children in high regard, have sworn to take down the Emperor of Nanto and prevent any more children from suffering at his hands.
    • Even with the amount of opposition Thouzer has received in regards to child slavery, there are a very small number of individuals who have offered him some additional child victims to go along with Thouzer’s plans. That group was The Slavers, who were better known for their human trafficking operations pertaining to forced prostitution and while they are content with continuing their own business, they are willing to lend Thouzer a handful of kidnapped children for him to enslave. Thouzer doesn’t have much to say about the group’s more extreme actions in comparison to his own, but he is willing to have some form of associates in regards to adding to the number of child slaves he has while he conquers other potential locations for him to rule over.
  • While the Pantheon is far from the ruined wasteland that Thouzer was used to, it meant that he would end up meeting others who have traversed such locations in addition to those he was previously familiar with. Immortan Joe was one such wastelander who shared much of the same ruthlessness that Thouzer has in addition to performing much worse actions than Thouzer has ever done. While perpetuating child slavery to make a monument for himself was already bad enough for Thouzer, Immortan Joe not only harvests people for milk and blood, but keeps sex slaves for himself and will stop at nothing to become a ruler of an apocalyptic wasteland. As both see themselves as god-like rulers of a desolate world, there is a rivalry going on between the two as to who will become a more feared wasteland leader and while Thouzer has eliminated some of Immortan Joe’s trusted allies, the latter still has plenty of smarts and has been working on a plan to take down Thouzer without Joe having to confront him directly. Even if Joe and Thouzer are in conflict with each other, it hasn’t prevented Thouzer from being foes with Joe’s arch-enemy Mad Max, who sees Thouzer’s ambitions and character as no different from Immortan Joe.
  • Thouzer ended up sharing quite a bit in common with Geese Howard in terms of how they came to be. Both had someone they cared about when they were young (Ohgai for Thouzer and Geese’s mother for Geese) and lost both of them in tragic circumstances (Thouzer having to kill Ohgai to inherit a martial arts skill and Geese’s mother succumbing to disease followed by Geese failing to kill his neglectful father), resulting in the both of them growing to become darker individuals seeking power at any cost, with Thouzer becoming The Emperor of Nanto who conquers any part of the wasteland as he sees fit and Geese becoming a crime lord with significant power over the city he lives in. Both are skilled in their respective martial arts and the two managed to see quite a bit in each other to the point that they are quite amicable towards each other. Thouzer also found Rugal to be a formidable fighter, especially since Rugal can pick up on various fighting styles very quickly and Rugal himself has stated that if he were in a wasteland like Thouzer was, he would take over every part of it with the help of his criminal connections and become much more dangerous than he already is.
  • While John Kreese is aware of what Hokuto Shinken is thanks to hanging around Jagi, he became just as interested in Nanto Seiken, the various styles associated with it, and how dangerous they are in comparison to Hokuto Shinken. This led him to meet Thouzer and he wanted to see just how potent of a fighting style Nanto Seiken (or more specifically, Nanton, Ho-oh Ken) is. It was there that Kreese learned about Thouzer’s misplaced heart, how it gave him an advantage against those who don’t know of it, and just how ruthless Thouzer is overall. Both also learned of their pasts and how it shaped their merciless mindsets, with Thouzer having to kill his mentor/father figure to inherit a martial arts style and Kreese having a terrible experience during the Vietnam War. That said, Thouzer has grander ambitions of being an emperor as opposed to Kreese looking to rebuild a martial arts school to get back at the people who wronged him. For someone who Thouzer considers to fight in a basic way regardless of underhanded tactics, he saw John Kreese as interesting and while Kreese generally found quite a bit to like about Thouzer in terms of fighting mindset.
  • Tai Lung was another martial artist who took a dark path following a traumatic experience in his childhood, though what happened there could be seen as a contrast to what Thouzer went through. Both were raised and trained to become skilled fighters, but while Thouzer was fond of his master from beginning to end and took his murder of Ohgai very poorly after inheriting Nanto Ho-oh Ken from him, Tai Lung was unable to become the Dragon Warrior due to Master Oogway seeing a dark heart in him, resulting in Tai Lung developing a grudge against his former teacher Master Shifu and was willing to take the title by force. With those contrasting backstories in mind, Tai Lung harbors some resentment towards Thouzer for being able to inherit a potent martial arts skill from a caring master when he was young whereas Tai Lung was unable to do such a thing at a young age. A fight ensued and Tai Lung’s abilities weren’t enough to take Thouzer down and after defeating Tai Lung, Thouzer told Tai Lung that Nanto Ho-oh Ken was much more deadly than what Tai Lung had access to and that it would take much more effort to defeat him. This had only given Tai Lung more of a motivation to not only become the Dragon Warrior that he himself believed he was meant to be, but to defeat Thouzer and those who talk down to him in a potential rematch.
  • Zonda suffered a lot of hardships in the past that led her to become as ruthless as Thouzer, but the similarities between the two end there. Whereas Thouzer is a powerful martial artist who has discarded the concept of emotions (love especially) and wants to rule over a wasteland on his own terms in addition to having a misplaced heart, Zonda is a super-powered individual who wants to create a world where other Adepts in addition to herself can thrive at the cost of all other human life (mainly to put an end to the discrimination she and her kind suffered) and is a massive Love Freak. In addition to completely dismissing Zonda’s mindset about love, Thouzer was aware of the kind of threat Zonda and other super-powered individuals like her can pose to his potential empire, though Zonda isn’t taking powerful enemies who oppose her, be it regular humans that are super-skilled in combat like Thouzer or those with superpowers of some kind, lightly and she definitely isn’t going down without a fight if it means retaliating against Thouzer’s disparaging comments about love.

Here's Wilson and Chester once again.

  • Wilson is shown to hate spiders (Though is fine with Webber, being a friendly Half-Human Hybrid and all). Any spiders that he'd particularly dislike? How about people who made a Deal with the Devil out of desperation, like Wilson did?
  • Once again, any similar creature that Chester could interact with?

Wilson Percival Higgsbury, God of Gentlmanly Scholars

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wilson_61.png
  • Demigod, though capable of slaying Lesser Gods with enough prep time
  • Symbol: His rather noticeable hair
  • Alignment: Neutral Good
  • Portifolio: Intelligent Gentlemen, Bookworms That Can Kill Monsters, For Science!, Prone To Buffy Speak, Rather Normal Gameplay-Wise, A Genius With Moments Of Stupidity, Cracks Puns Constantly, Anime Hair, Can Grow A Beard
  • Domains: Science, Survival, Manners, Beards
  • Allies: Steve and Alex, Pi and Richard Parker, The Sole Survivor, Josuke Higashikata
  • Enemies: The Beast
  • Pities: Winslow and Wake
  • Unsure of: The Mann Co. Mercs
  • Wilson P. Higgsbury was a scientist who was starved of ideas. Anything that he made would just fail and blow up in his face. One day, however, he heard a strange voice coming from his radio, telling him that it could grant him "Ultimate Knowledge", which a desperate Wilson was quick to agree with. The immediate building frenzy that came with the knowledge resulted in a dimensional mirror that promptly sucked Wilson in, transporting him to a Death World where resources were scarce and finite, hostile and strange creatures roamed, and the night itself would kill him if he stayed in it for too long. Against all odds, Wilson manages to survive in these deadly conditions, and even managed to rally up some other survivors to work together (Albeit after an incident involving the dreaded Nightmare Throne) to make survival easier. Wilson and his friends goals were simple: DON'T STARVE.
  • Or, at least, that's what it was. After an incident involving some teleporting guy, he had found himself in the Pantheon, confused but otherwise ecstatic to be out of The Constant. Looking around for some answers, he eventually came across the Court Of The Gods, who he figured looked important, and explained his plight to them. After some quick research on where he came from, they ascended him as a god proper. A few years later, Wilson had come across his profile, and noticed that it was rather lacking in terms of length. As such, he requested that it would be reworked with more info obtained since his ascension, which the gods agreed to.
  • Even out of The Constant, Wilson isn't safe from darkness. Apparently, Wilson has obtained some sort of "Curse", where every location he goes to would emulate the Day/Night cycle of The Constant. To put it simply, during the Day he's free to roam around and gather supplies and make friends, while when it's Night, the darkness suddenly becomes deadly because of the sudden presence of The Night Monster, Charlie, who'll shave off massive bits of Wilson's health if he gets hit by her. Not to mention, enough loss of his sanity and he'll be attacked by numerous shadow creatures. Oh, and he'll randomly get attacked by wolves, because THEY are dicks. For those reasons, Wilson spends most of his day gathering supplies and weapons for the night, getting himself prepared for the deadly darkness. Oh, and this thankfully only affects Wilson and no one else, as they can't even see what Wilson sees thanks to the curse.
  • It wasn't long until he decided to seek out other survivors within the Pantheon, mostly to seek help for his newfound curse. One of the first of these was Steve and Alex, both of whom he found casually punching a tree apart with their fists. Being impressed by this, he quickly started a conversation with the two, and found out that their world, while still far from an ideal vacation spot, was much more preferable to The Constant. Wilson was also jealous of the duo's ability of creating whole houses from simple blocks, while he and the others could only manage a bunch of walls at best. Still didn't prevent them from getting along, however.
    • Wilson also has nothing short of respect for shipwreck survivor Pi, in no small part due to the fact he managed to survive being marooned at sea with basically nothing but some wreckage, a life boat, and a tiger, even admitting that he couldn't see himself surviving with those odds, even if he's had experience with being shipwrecked before. Pi was similarly impressed by Wilson managing to survive a Death World where night literally killed you, something that Pi probably would not've survive due to a lack of light. The two can be seen conversing about their experiences.
    • On the less optimistic side of the spectrum, Wilson can't help but pity Lighthouse watchers Winslow and Wake, both of whom weren't as lucky as Pi was, having succumbed to insanity and had possibly died in the process. As Wilson is regularly fighting to keep himself sane, he admits that he could relate to the two. Sure, they were both terrible people, but there's no harm in feeling bad about them, right? That said, he's also curious about the Lighthouse itself, as he notes that by his experience, the "hallucinations" from said locations were a wee bit specific to be simple mental trauma. Then again, his own shadowy hallucinations also attacked him, so he admits that he's really not one to talk.
  • One of the more important survival tips while in The Constant is to make sure that you have a good base, as it could prepare you for things such as wolf attacks, giant ambushes, and the like, not to mention a nifty place to safely store loot. This is a habit that Wilson has carried over into The Pantheon, where he's often seen collecting materials to expand upon his temple, which is one such base. Someone he found massively helpful in this regard is The Sole Survivor, a fellow survivor that also specializes in building forts and bases, often filling them with more lethal traps. The two can be seen conversing on what would make the best fort in case of a wolf attack.
  • As someone who's dealt with hostile shadowy beings, he figured from the start that The Beast, a being who needs to steal souls in order to survive, was bad news. Hell, he even considers the being to be worse Tham Charlie, as at least she clearly didn't have much choice in the matter of becoming The Night Monster, while The Beast relishes the horrible deeds he needs to do in order to survive. The Beast, figuring that the experienced Wilson would be a threat to his own survival, has started targeting him as of recently, though thankfully Wilson is usually prepared enough to ward off The Beast, at least temporarily.
  • At this point, you've probably noticed Wilson's odd hair. It's shown to be able to withstand such disasters as monster attacks and explosions without taking a scratch, and some gods noticed in X-rays that it actually has bones inside of it. He's also quite sensitive about people messing with his hair, even if nobody could really damage it in the first place. As such, he could relate to the similar problem Josuke Higashikata has, though he does consider him beating the crap outta the perpetrator a bit overreactive. Aside from that, he's able to make friends with Josuke, finding his healing abilities quite handy for recovering from Hound attacks.
    • Speaking of his hair, it seems that Mann Co. had taken interest in his universe, even designing a few of their products to resemble both Wilson's hair (The Wilson Weave) and The Ham Bat (The Ham Shank) and giving them out to their mercenaries to wear and battle with. Wilson's fine with it for the most part, as you can't really claim ownership to hair styles and slabs of ham, but otherwise he's a bit conflicted with the mercs themselves. On the one hand, he's glad that they're not killing innocents and quite a few of them can be pretty affable, but on the other hand, they're still a bunch of psychopaths who kill each other for fun, something that understandably unnerves the scientist. Although he swears that he once saw someone like the Pyro in The Constant once...

Chester, God of Storing Items By Eating Them (Otto Von Chesterfield, Esq., Shadow Chester, Snow Chester)

  • Demigod
  • Symbol: The Eye Bone
  • Alignment: Neutral Good
  • Portifolio: Can Hold Up To 6 Items Inside His Stomach, Series Mascot, Acts Like A Dog (And A Very Cute One, At That), A Benevolent Chest Monster, Punny Name
  • Domains: Chests, Companions, Pets, Fur
  • Heralds: Hutch, Packim Baggims, Ro Bin
  • Allies: Wilson, Rusty, Rico
  • Enemies: The Reaper
  • The Constant is full of many strange and frightening creatures, most of which are incredibly hostile. However, there are a good few friendly, or at least neutral, creatures to balance it out, with one of the most noteworthy being Chester. A creature resembling a, well, chest, he's summoned once someone finds and holds the Eye Bone, after which Chester would act like a mobile storage, being able to hold up to 6 items in his stomach while following you around. Despite its lack of combat abilities, he's still rather useful if one is looking for extra storage space. Plus, he's as friendly and energetic as a dog. Who doesn't love dogs?
  • One day in the Pantheon, a few gods were wondering around when they suddenly came across a strange bone with an eye on it. Picking it up out of curiosity, they were shortly met with a strange, dog-like creature that followed them around as they continued walking. Eventually, they found out about his Stomach of Holding and promptly started taking advantage of the fact, putting some useless junk they had that was weighing them down. A short while later, after becoming fond of the little guy, they were approached by the scientist Wilson, who told them that the creature was his and he accidentally dropped the Eye Bone, which as it turns out summons Chester to serve whoever is holding it. After Chester proved Wilsons claims by being more affectionate towards him than he usually is towards others, he was returned to Wilson, who took him to The Court Of The Gods to get him ascended, which was why he was here in the first place.
    • After he was properly ascended for the title of Stomach of Holding, he can usually be seen with Wilson helping him hold and obtain supplies for survival. Occasionally however, his Eye Bone would get lost and end up in the hands of another god, in which case Chester would be seen following and helping them instead. Wilson usually has to track him down and ask for him back, to his annoyance. With that said, Chester still considers Wilson to be his true owner, only going along with his Eye Bone stchick because hey, that's his nature. Without anyone possessing the Bone, Chester acts like a regular animal, albeit one slightly smarter than average, wondering around The Pantheon and having interactions of his own.
  • One of the first friends Chester made while in The Pantheon was Rico of the Madagascar Penguins, a explosion loving penguin whose notorious for the same kind of stomach storage that Chester is capable of, if not more-so. Rico, finding the little monster to be rather relatable due to this, can be sometimes seen teaching Chester how to swallow and store bigger objects. So far, Chester has been able to store half a Science Machine in his digestion system. Wilson also often watches over the two, as while he notes that the training has been rather useful all things considered, he's still concerned about the Penguins generally unhinged attitudes, Rico especially. Nothing really bad has happened between the two so far, but only time will tell if that holds up.
  • Chester once decided to try and befriend the holder of Chest Monster, figuring that, being a chest monster himself, they would get along. What he didn't realize was that not only was the trope not restricted to literal mimics, just monsters who came out of chests, said holder was also a hostile Grim Reaper duel wielding revolvers ready to kill anything in front of it. Chester had to hightail it out of their as fast as possible to avoid getting killed by it. His second attempt at companionship went much better, as he ended up befriending a friendly mimic called Rusty, who led his own team of friendly dungeon monsters acting as adventurers. Chester is more than happy to accompany them if they happened to come across the Eye Bone, which suspiciously happens a lot more than one would expect.

[up] Lolth and Ungoliant are menacing spiders.

Faust and Jeanne made some devilish deals.

Kirby can store things in his stomach, which he can either swallow or spit out.

[up][up]No idea what he'd think of Muffet, a spider who serves food made of spiders, but I'm sure he'd think it very strongly.

Done with this.

Hanshiro Tsugumo, God of Seppuku

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hanshirotvtp.png
  • Demigod
  • Symbol: A broken katana and a set of destroyed samurai armor
  • Alignment: True Neutral
  • Portfolio: A lone ronin with a just cause against a corrupt and arrogant clan, shows contempt by wrecking the Ii's ancestral armor and committing seppuku, thrown into obscurity by the Ii
  • Domains: Samurai, Rituals, Vengeance, Rebellion, Seppuku
  • Heralds: Miho (his daughter), Motome Chijiwa (his adoptive son/son-in-law), Kingo (his grandson)
  • Allies: Sanjuro, The Seven Samurai, Kenshin Himura, Samurai Jack, Nathan Algren, Eddard Stark, Seita and Setsuko Yokokawa
  • Hanshiro Tsugumo, a ronin, arrived at the manor of the proud Ii clan, requesting to commit seppuku on their estate. The Ii were suspicious, as there was a trend of ronin claiming to want to perform seppuku, but really hoping to invoke sympathy and through that, find employment or at least obtain a few coins. The Ii had already dealt with one by forcing him to go through with his stated intention. Hanshiro seemed sincere enough, however his three choices for a kaishakunin were not readily available, so while he waited for one to be fetched, he told the Ii the story of what led him to that point.
    • As it turns out, the ronin the Ii had dealt with before was an adopted son of Hanshiro, Motome Chijiwa, placed under his care after Motome's father committed suicide in Hanshiro's stead to accompany their disgraced lord. Motome married Hanshiro's daughter Miho and they had a child, Kingo, but the impoverished family faced hard times. Miho and Kingo fell ill and a desperate Motome did whatever he could to gather money for a doctor, including pawning off his prized swords. That was when he got the idea of going to the Ii and pulling a suicide bluff to garner their sympathy. Soon after his horrible death, Kingo and Miho succumbed to their illness, leaving Hanshiro with nothing to live for.
    • Hanshiro then revealed he had already defeated all his chosen kaishakunin, who had played a large part in Motome's murder. They lived, but were irredeemably disgraced according to bushido. Ironically, they refused to commit seppuku to atone for their failures and instead feigned illness, even though they had been so vehement in making Motome follow through against his will. The Ii, outraged at Hanshiro's accusations, attempted to kill him, but Hanshiro was a formidable opponent and took down several of their number, who had never seen true combat. In the end, however, he was overwhelmed by their numbers, but he was still able to commit seppuku in the proper way as a last show of contempt to the Ii.
  • Hanshiro found himself in a grassy plain within the Pantheon following his death. He didn't know where he was yet, but he thought for sure it was the afterlife and he looked forward to seeing Miho, Motome and Kingo again. He set out in a random direction, eventually reaching the Main House where he met the higher gods, who explained where he was and what they intended for him. Hanshiro realized it wasn't quite the afterlife he thought, but it didn't particularly bother him so long as he could see his family again. He asked the higher gods for permission to let him show them how much that meant to him, then proceeded to slash his stomach. Of course, he was healed immediately by the gods' power before he could even lose consciousness, and was told that his wishes were known and he would find his family when he got to his temple. Hanshiro thus found peace after settling with his family in the Pantheon.
  • Ultimately, Hanshiro's story is one about how those in power will abuse the established social structure and traditions to crush those beneath them. That's a familiar problem for a lot of samurai in the Pantheon, who have often found themselves disillusioned with a corrupt lord, among other situations. These commonalities are why sometimes Hanshiro gets surprising visits from fellow samurai in his temple (made to resemble his old home). Hanshiro is always a bit cagey when meeting a samurai for the first time, as he wishes only to live in peace with his family, making fans and umbrellas, and not get dragged into any of the conflicts he has heard are constantly raging within the Pantheon. In this regard, Motome can be a source of some concern of Hanshiro, as he is still youthful and idealistic enough to express interest in joining the war effort for a good cause.
  • Fortunately, one of the first samurai he met, Sanjuro, had no interest whatsoever in trying to indoctrinate Hanshiro in any of the business involving the Pantheonic conflicts. Being a rather jaded loner to begin with, Sanjuro has similar, fairly cynical views as Hanshiro and scorns the Pantheon's Forever War. Sanjuro was simply interested in befriending a fellow warrior who got screwed over, and offering his help if anything came up. Being a drifter, Sanjuro isn't seen a whole lot by Hanshiro, but the latter at least seems to like his attitude and smarts.
  • Also keeps a pretty good relationship with the Seven Samurai, respecting them for their choice to defend a peasant village from bandits for almost no pay of any sort, not because they were following a lord's orders but because it was the right thing to do. Hanshiro particularly gets on with their wise and reasonable leader Kambei. Conversely, he's had to teach that clown Kikuchiyo to respect his elders, though Hanshiro reckons the maverick peasant-turned-samurai, despite acting like a buffoon most of the time, has a lot of insight into how those in power trample on those beneath them. As far as Hanshiro is concerned, Kikuchiyo and the rest of the seven are truer samurai than anyone in the Ii clan. But he takes care not to let these thoughts be known to Kikuchiyo so he doesn't get a big head.
  • While doing some research on his own on the samurai of the Pantheon, Hanshiro became interested in the story of one Kenshin Himura, who refused to commit seppuku and instead chose to wander through Japan in search of an alternate form of atonement. Eventually, after some adventures, Kenshin settled down and started a family. Hanshiro feels like that's a rather better thing to do with one's life than throw it away for a cause that may not be worth it. After visiting Kenshin personally and talking with the pleasant redheaded samurai about their respective experiences, Hanshiro seems to think even more highly of him. Kenshin for his part laments Hanshiro's sad fate and the corruption of the Ii clan.
  • Evidently, a man from the Sengoku era like him had a fair amount of things to get used to upon getting placed into the Pantheon, which is a very hi-tech place in certain areas. Despite that, Hanshiro took many of his discoveries with a samurai's typical stoicism, no matter how outlandish they got for him. He supposes he is rather luckier than Samurai Jack, who was thrust into the far future by his worst enemy and thus had a lot to acclimate himself to with a lot more pressure upon him. Incidentally, Jack has also attempted seppuku, but was talked out of it by the woman who would become his wife, Ashi. Hanshiro finds that to be an extremely and uniquely fortuitous turn of events.
  • Was surprised to meet a foreigner who came to embrace the samurai way of life for the rest of his life. That foreigner is Nathan Algren, who had to pay his respects to the newest admirable samurai. With that said, the events that had befallen Hanshiro did shock Nathan, who has little exposure to the dark side of the samurai. Hanshiro is not particularly sorry about it as he doesn't think it's good at all to have an over-romanticized view of the samurai, as they truly are good for nothing outside of war. That may sound like Hanshiro and Nathan are on bitter terms, but that's not the case, with Nathan recognizing the injustices Hanshiro went through, and Hanshiro recognizing that Nathan found peace in the samurai village that he couldn't find anywhere else and he doesn't wish to strip him of that.
  • Hanshiro knows better than anyone that there's a big difference between looking honorable (like, say, the Ii) and actually being so. He is therefore pretty skeptical of those who claim to uphold honor as a core value of theirs. At least one deity who passes in his eyes is Eddard Stark, after Hanshiro heard about how he took Jon Snow under his wing, passing him off as his bastard son, to protect him, tarnishing his public image in doing so but ultimately doing the right thing in saving the life of an innocent child. The two grizzled warriors hold each other in high regard, especially considering they both went up against powerful factions (the Lannisters, in Stark's case) that were hypocritically abusing the systems of values that backed them up, and they both perished in doing so despite being completely in the right.
  • Hanshiro has studied how his country evolved after the war-torn Sengoku era and is gladdened to know that the samurai as a caste are no more and that Japan has largely settled into a peaceful country. Which is not to say that there weren't some unfortunate events along the road, such as Japan going through a phase where the samurai and bushido were lionized, leading to their involvement in World War II, in which they committed many atrocities. Hanshiro is deeply ashamed that the mere existence of samurai led to such a tragedy in the long run. It's for that reason that he has taken an unusually strong interest in the Yokokawa children, seeing that they were victims of what Hanshiro terms their country's foolhardiness and he's protective of them. The older of the children, Seita, strongly identifies with the older samurai, seeing that he's just as disillusioned with his society as Hanshiro.
