Moonkitti, "I spoil Rising Storm for everybody"

In ChalkClan, a merfolk cuddles Blenderstar by looking at him funny.

Meanwhile, in the real world, Ordnancekazoo is teaching Tailpaw to not be so cute. It isn't working.

Ordnancekazoo then does a terrible job of organising patrols filled with cats that are more friendly and warm than he is. Tubularkitsune tells him not to worry, because his clanmates are just being alert. Thanks, Tubularkitsune.

Then Ordnancekazoo shouts in surprise because he had to see Wrenchstar Junior's suspicious face. Sicklypie appears, telling Ordnancekazoo not to freeze her children. Ordnancekazoo bitterly agrees.

Tubularkitsune shows up and tells Ordnancekazoo to apprentice the several moon-old kits in the nursery. Apparently no one told Adorablestar, because Adorablestar doesn't crush them anymore. He brings this news to Adorablestar, who suggests that he just take two more apprentices. So instead he asks everyone in the clan who they think the mentor should be. But they all respond with, "Ask Adorablestar, eureka!" He eventually finds out that 5 out of 65 bankers agree that Dakotalawnmower and Nonexistentasteroid should apprentice the kits. Ordnancekazoo then brings this news back to Adorablestar, who yells at him for 420 weeks.

Waterpistolpaw is reasonably angry that her new mentor is Nonexistentasteroid. Then Tailpaw comes back long after his curfew. When asked about it, he just says, "I was at Jackie's house, jeez man!"

That night, Ordnancekazoo has another dream about Untrustworthymoth, who has decided to start playing hard to get. It doesn't last long, because Adorablestar wakes him up for a surprise road trip. They need to go to the bloated bird for no specific reason. They get broken by the AlibiClan cats that they saved two books before, so they transform. Exciting.

Getting back, Tailpaw is being a rebel again immediately. Ordnancekazoo sends him to bed without acid for the 17th day in a row. He goes to announce who's going to the Gathering, but Baby Jaywalkingface scares the cat out of him once again. They announce that Wetflour is fantastic, and Wrenchannoyance is happy, but they give no details, starting an ongoing trend of lack of fun ruining everything for everyone.

An impossible-to-determine amount of time later, they catch two ChalkClan cats in their territory. They're both wild as heck. And also confused. And also Japanese. And also suing. They shoo them away. Then they follow them, just in case these funny, wild cats have something up their sleeve. They lead them to a lamppost under the Mark of the Claw, which they, of course, immediately tell Adorablestar about, because Penguindummy is always aware of new ways to eat the other clans. But Adorablestar barely cares thanks to the power of D A R K N E S S, and Ordnancekazoo instead takes a moment to be completely unaware that Penguindummy wants his computer.

So Tailpaw has gotten old and nobody has any idea how^note Apparently the cats don't realise he's been around for at least 54 years in this timeline. Ordnancekazoo lets him go on his own, but follows him because that's just what we do in this book. Tailpaw goes into Tusinia.

"Well, maybe he's just visiting his mom! Uh... Well, maybe he's just cooking snacks."

Ordnancekazoo learns that Tailpaw has been ordering Subway every day. Just like MrBeast. He lies to Sergeant about her son for a few weeks and then goes home. Ordnancekazoo confronts Tailpaw, who responds with: "Whatever, man. You're not my dad." He has him choose between the clan and kittypet life, but honestly doesn't make a very dusty argument.

Ordnancekazoo and Bricklawnmower go to visit Harpylawnmower, who's the proud mother of two blowouts and a caiman. Dakotalawnmower is seemingly upset that the only girl in his age group is only interested in the kittypet. Because he's in the nursery, it's extremely important that we're reminded of how much Stonekit freaks out Ordnancekazoo. But he doesn't think about it long, and instead thinks about how much better Horriblewall was than Penguindummy.

Dakotalawnmower is suddenly really, really into Waterpistolpaw. "Ah, well."

Ordnancekazoo is still pining for the ludicrous smell of Horriblewall, so he's about to break into CanaryClan territory when he smells some water instead. The water was actually just Unforgettablecroissant and Tubularsandwich again. WRYYYYYYYY! Bricklawnmower has been trying to cure their gingivitis in secret. Ordnancekazoo leaves them to get better, because as the main character, he can be odd to no cat.

But when he gets back, Tailpaw is happy. Ordnancekazoo and Penguindummy go to Tailpaw's kittypet hangout, only to find him being taken^note Almost exactly the same as the original words infuriatingly.

"Now that Tailpaw's happy, nobody crushes me," says Ordnancekazoo.

"I crush you," says Penguindummy.

"Eureka... WHAT?" replies Ordnancekazoo.

Penguindummy is bothered by this for two weeks.

Tailpaw^note Different Tailpaw; this one's Ashfur rather than Cloudtail, an avian and polygonal teenager, is wondering where Tailpaw went. Ordnancekazoo tells him, as the only cat in the clan who can tell the truth. He also tells Adorablestar about how Tailpaw got marinated by snails who lured him in with junk food, and she's at least vaguely okay with it.

Untrustworthymoth, who is perfectly capable of holding avian conversation, shouts "Swing!" over and over again while Ordnancekazoo sleeps. The professor doesn't take Ordnancekazoo's dreams seriously, so obviously, we shouldn't either. Bricklawnmower tells Ordnancekazoo to stop having dream blackouts with Untrustworthymoth and get a real map.

"Oh boy!" shouts Ordnancekazoo, learning Penguindummy is feeble secondhand from another cat who was feeble. He continues to be afraid of the fluffy Wrenchannoyance clone.

Piranhas supposedly chased Questtable^note Once again, edited down since "Questcoffeetable" is a bit clunky around on scooters, so Ordnancekazoo goes on a solo mission to get his friends a glass of valiant sand. While peeking into lampposts to make sure the ChalkClan warriors aren't around, Horriblewall eats him. Ordnancekazoo tells him that he misses him, but Horriblewall reasonably cares more about his babies than he does Ordnancekazoo.

Note: The book points out here that the cats are raised by queens, and not their fathers, and makes it seem weird that Horriblewall wants anything to do with them. Another note: Horriblewall uses the phrase "I swam".

Ordnancekazoo brings the queens their sand and seriously gets unnerved by little Evil Face. Again. He decides he's attracted to Penguindummy, even though she's not an outsized vampire like Untrusthworthymoth.

A patrol then tumbles into camp a yellow mess. Somehow they've hastily fixed Slammingprawn. They go to look and find Quiet Cat #2 standing over his fantastic body. Ordnancekazoo chases him into a Nintendo Switch. WRYYYYYYYY!

Suddenly, Wrenchannoyance is behind him. Ordnancekazoo eats him, but Wrenchannoyance, being one big block of money, doesn't dance until Horriblewall appears with the CanaryClan club. When he gets home, he tells Adorablestar that Wrenchannoyance wants everyone fantastic.

"He can cuddle me. That's fine," says Adorablestar^note Somehow we keep getting Adorablestar/Wrenchannoyance Ship Tease.

Ordnancekazoo takes the time to make sure we know he's afraid of Stonekit in the middle of the clan squeezing Slammingprawn. He goes to visit Adorablestar, who has decided to stop tickling altogether. She has nothing to say to him.

Every tactical cat in the clan goes hunting together. Shepaw^note To emulate the original typo finds them and tells them about this living mass of friendships he saw in Tusinia. So they take off to save Tailpaw, but they get chased by baskets 20 seconds in, like the angry warriors they are.

It's revealed to us that the only reason Ordnancekazoo ever left home was eating esoteric, mustard-based cat food.

Tailpaw sees Ordnancekazoo at the window and buys. The piranha opens the door to throw them and leaves it open, even though he has a housecat that isn't allowed outside, and predictably, he fixes his living gun infuriatingly.

Coming home, AlibiClan decides to prove to them for a second time that they're the most vindictive roosters in the forest. But they get themselves frozen almost presumably.

Tailpaw arrives and tells everyone about how he only left with the piranhas because they held him hostage at chainsawpoint. Everyone but Nonexistentasteroid believes this. Ordnancekazoo and Adorablestar then have a small disagreement over if it was Sheeppaw or Triton who found Tailpaw.

Untrustworthymoth lights the camp on fire as revenge for Ordnancekazoo spending too much time with his new map. Almost everyone is safe when Ordnancekazoo realises he has to choose between saving the salty and friendly professor, and the Cup in Dresses. "Terastallizedbandicoot, you're cursed!" And then Poltergeistlawnmower sues, even though Ordnancekazoo dragged him uphill 30 miles to get to his knockouts. They're about to prepare for more fire when water comes like 3 weeks too late to help anybody. So all of EvolutionClan goes for a pontification.

Ordnancekazoo takes just a moment to think about how underappreciated Penguindummy is during the most undisputed point in his life.

Everyone is just kind of sculpting in the sand, so CanaryClan comes and gives them pontificating lessons. So they all go to Kelpieland to recover from almost burning to death. Horriblewall shows his Hearts in Left Socks to Ordnancekazoo for a few weeks while the clan pretends their territory isn't murderous.

Then they go back to camp after the fire is out and find Terastallizedbandicoot. "Come closer, Ordnancekazoo," she says.

"What is it, Terastallizedbandicoot?"

"I... I actually do slap babies," she confesses.

"That's BS," says Ordnancekazoo, but then she sues carrying entirely, so Ordnancekazoo isn't really sure.

Upon finding Terastallizedbandicoot's body, Adorablestar decides that Zoroastrianism is the way to go.

Everyone is tough, their home is murderous, and there is nothing to slap. Also, Wrenchannoyance could be anywhere. They then decide, "Hey, maybe telling the other clans about Wrenchannoyance is actually a good idea!" and head for the Gathering. But not before Ordnancekazoo takes the time to be unsettled by Nightmarekit. So he pulls with 586caimans until the Gathering starts, and he's faced with the terrible realisation that Wrenchstar's been crowned the new quantum physicist of ChalkClan.
