Pandora—daughter of Twilight Sparkle and Discord

"Feel like stirring up a little trouble, dearie?"

Cunning, self-absorbed, and eternally up to no-good, Pandora is the star of our show. The main character of the Pandoraverse, Pandora is the daughter of Twilight Sparkle and Discord. Like her father Discord, Pandora is a wily trickster with a mischief streak a mile wide. Because of this, she can come off as childish, bratty, and irreverent. This is done to cover up her insecurities regarding her purpose in life, as well as her relationship with her family, especially her mother. Has a pet chicken named Henrietta.

  • Alien Catnip: Poison Joke.
  • Amazon Chaser: Her relationship with Cupcake in a nutshell. She gets rather excited at seeing her in armor, too...
  • Anti-Hero: Pandora can and will do things that are less than ethical but ultimately tends to have at least decent intentions. And she's incredibly devoted to anyone who bothers to get close to her and/or she's come to care for.
  • Big Brother Worship: Pandora was really close to Spike, growing up.
  • Big Eater: Especially when stressed.
  • Be Yourself: After spending years trying to be the ideal princess her mother wanted, she failed to find it emotionally fulfilling, and still NOT being accepted was the last straw before embracing her role as the heir to chaos. Despite this, she is still not fully happy, implying there's some part of herself she may still be denying (in this case, the part of her that is like her mother.)
  • Breath Weapon: She can breathe fire, which is pink, sparkly, and, truth be told, rather unimpressive. She later develops a new one in the form of a Wave-Motion Gun.
  • Bullying a Dragon: Originally, she was on the receiving end of this and most of her personality is the result. It was retconned because it didn't make sense for them to be ostracized for her appearance when others like Discord, Thorax or others weren't. Instead, she was feared.
    • An alternate universe where she's undergone a Face–Heel Turn involved a mob adhering to this trope attempting to kill her, actually killing her Only Friend Cupcake and driving her to decide that she needed to make every pony in Equestria feel the pain of loosing their loved ones before burning it to the ground.
  • Cartoon Bomb: She's got a special version with comes with metal "ears" and a grinning face that she summons up when she needs to make something explode.
  • Cat Folk: Has many feline mannerisms. Lopoddity has referred to her, on numerous occasions, as "noodle cat".
    • One particular example is her tendency to act like a mother cat and hide her loved ones in blankets out of a need to protect them (seen in the alt-universe where she is a relationship with Aerostorm). Her son Oddball inherited this from her.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: With Cupcake.
    • In an alternate universe, she ends up in this with Aerostorm (having been confirmed to be friends since foalhood), even having a son.
    • Yet another alternate universe is where she ends up with this kind of relationship with Moondancer.
  • Creepy Child: Downplayed. While she really wasn't that creepy, she was definitely perceived as such by the denizens of Ponyville. According to Lopoddity, this is because it didn't make sense for Pandora to be ostracized or bullied for her appearance given how Ponykind has been accepted of many odd-looking individuals. Instead, they're scared of her because she has god-like power and all the naivete and carelessness of a child.
  • Comic-Book Fantasy Casting: According to this post here, she pictures Pandora to be voiced by Rachel Mc Farlene, who also voiced Eris, Goddess of Discord in Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy.
  • Cool Aunt: Was this to Jasper before the latter's removal from canon and is currently this for Spike and Thorax's son.
  • Cuteness Proximity:
    • Cannot resist the urge to pounce on Truffles and squish her cheeks whenever the poor filly is near.
    • Apparently when she was a baby, the Ponyville folk thought this about her... until her magic manifested.
  • Daddy's Girl: Absolutely adores Discord.
  • Dark Magical Girl: Sums up her personality. Dark, mischievous and seemingly uncaring, but deep down desperately craves her mother's approval and cares very much for her friends.
  • Dream Walker: She can travel through dreams when she's asleep, but not well, and usually not intentionally.
  • Expository Hairstyle Change: Growing up, she shared Twilight's hair style, switching to her present one after giving up on following her in princesshood in favor of chaos.
  • Extreme Omnivore: When stressed, Pandora will try to eat whatever's on hand, regardless of what it is. Diamonds, pillows, rocks, Cupcake’s measuring spoons, the Crystal Heart of the Crystal Empire...
  • Fantastic Arousal: Is fully capable of popping a wingboner.
  • Fantastic Racism: Now subverted via Retcon. Beforehand, she often found herself on the receiving end of this, from when she would be ostracized by other foals on the playground for her different appearance and powers to when pony society made it very clear that no matter how hard she worked, they never had any intention of accepting her as a princess. It's one of the main reasons she chose to leave her duties and embrace her father's chaos.
    • The above has now been retconned away since Lop noted ponies really don't judge being by appearances within the series. Instead, everypony generally avoided and feared her for her power and her... creepy tendecies.
    • In a Bad Ending, a mob goes after her and ends up killing Cupcake, leading Pandora to kill her father to gain his power before ravaging Equestria in vengeance.
  • Fear of Thunder: She's terrified of thunderstorms. Lightning strikes cause her to instinctively seek cover, be it under a table or between Cupcake's legs, which makes no sense considering she's supposedly immune to electrocution.
  • First Love: Turns out Magnolia May's was hers.
  • Friend to Bugs: Her singing attracts all sorts of creepy crawlies in the same manner that a "traditional" princess' singing attracts woodland creatures. In addition, she had a pet centipede named Jeff for a while before she got her pet chicken
  • Full-Name Ultimatum: When Twilight calls her daughter Pandora Eris Sparkle, that's when Pandora knows she's in trouble.
  • Fur Is Clothing: Her ruff is detachable, and she considers being seen without it on indecent.
  • Girls With Mustaches: She grows a pink, sparkly and very bushy mustache when she's feeling particularly fancy. Apparently, only female draconequi can grow mustaches.
  • Goo-Goo-Godlike: Being deconstructed. Word Of Lop more or less hints at this trope when it comes to a young Pandora. While downplayed because she isn't as strong as her father, she still could do quite alot and the townsfolk were understandably afraid of her.
  • Hero Insurance: Invoked. Any time she contracts out her powers, it includes liability wavers for the chaos she "inadvertently" causes in the process.
  • Hidden Depths: Her time training to be princess left her knowledgeable enough in Equestrian law to qualify as a lawyer if not for her chaotic nature. This is how she's able to avoid legal trouble for her escapades.
  • Hidden Heart of Gold: Pandora puts on a rather flippant and irreverent face to the world, which conceals some deep-seated Mommy Issues.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: Heartbreakingly demonstrated here is why she tried to be this:
Pandora: I'm tired of being a freak!
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She does care about others, even if it take a lot of effort to make her admit it.
  • King Incognito: She has a unicorn persona named Hijinx she adopts when she wants to keep a low profile while pulling her pranks.
  • Large Ham: This plays out mostly in the context of her Odd Couple relationship with Cupcake, with Pandora taking center stage to Cupcake's playing The Stoic.
  • Light Is Good: Pandora's coat turns a uniform white in particularly cold winters, something she considers a sign of good luck.
  • Lonely Together: More or less how the relationship between her and Bruce got started.
Lopoddity: Bruce and Pan dated in their very late teens, when they were still figuring out their places in the world. Pan was still dutifully training to be a princess, and Cupcake was off training to be her royal knight, leaving Pan quite stressed and lonely. Bruce’s friends were moving on with their lives, leaving him miserable and trapped working for his father, a fisherpony (Bruce’s passion is marine conservation). So both were lonely, and sort of lost.
  • Meaningful Name: She's a draconequus and she was conceived when the Princess of Friendship married the Lord of Disharmony. It's only fitting she be named after Pandora, who through an innocent act brought chaos into the world. That her middle name, Eris, is that of the goddess of strife doesn't hurt.
  • Mix-and-Match Critters: Being a draconequus, it comes with the territory. Unlike her dad, she's at least symmetrical (implied to be due to Twilight's genes).
    • As seen here, she was fond of doing this animals from Sweet Apple Acres. Ultimately this results in the animals being in great pain and Auntie Applejack and Rarity had to ban her from the farm for a bit.
  • Noble Demon: Pandora tends to do things because she finds them funny and will carefully write her contracts so she'll avoid legal trouble regardless of what she does but she dearly loves Cupcake (or whoever she's seeing in a given universe), her parents and her child and has an endearing soft spot for Truffles. She's also deeply regretful that her friendship with Moondancer fell apart.
  • No-Sell: Pandora, like Discord, is immune to the harmful effects of Poison Joke. That isn't to say it has no effect on them, though. She is also immune to electrocution.
  • Physical God: Her powers are essentially a toned-down version of Discord's. Canonically, she can more or less do anything Discord can, but badly, and with a greater emphasis on explosions.
    • In one now non-canon future timeline, she ends up taking over Discord's place as the God(dess) of Chaos.
  • The Prankster: She's Discord's daughter. What else needs to be said?
  • Precocious Crush: She used to have one on Flash Sentry.
  • Reality Warper: She's Discord's daughter (along with Twilight's). Whacha expect?
  • Reed Richards Is Useless: Averted. Magic users in Equestria often have their serves for hire, and she has some of the strongest magic in the setting.
  • Rule 63: Pandora's counterpart is Paradox, or Dox for short. Due to their reality-warping abilities, they meet and interact. One noncanon piece of art even had them have kids.
  • Shared Family Quirks: While this may not be seen initially with Twilight being the responsible and neurotic princess and Pandora being a layabout merry prankster, mother and daughter share the same dorky spaz dancing, the same geeky love of books (Pan has a super secret love of dusty old textbooks on Equestrian law), and the same tendency to descend into psychotic episodes at the drop of a hat.
  • Shipper on Deck: She supports her son Oddball with Truffles, despite the mare being older than Oddball.
  • Slasher Smile: She has her mother's pretty, twitchy smile, which comes out during times of stress.
  • Sour Outside, Sad Inside: She presents a cocky, arrogant and uncaring facade to the world, while hiding some serious self-esteem and mommy issues. Furthermore, she fails a great deal of
  • Stuff Blowing Up: Let's just say that if she were a pony, her special talent would likely be making things explode.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: Pandora was still impish and prone to mischief, but she was certainly sweeter and made more effort in reigning herself in, pursuing the grand destiny that she believed awaited her. Compare the most recent works she's in with her first appearance in the 'verse.
    • Played With. She was originally a sweet child, but one with incredible power and no idea of the consequences of her actions which terrified a lot of ponies. Now she is more snarky, seemingly uncaring and moody, but she has a better sense of the consequences of her actions and a great deal of guilt.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: While not known with Cupcake, it's subtly implied in the timeline where she is a couple with Aerostorm. Whenever Zipperflash attempts to make a crack at him, she zaps him with magic.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: As part of her nature as a Reality Warper, she can shapeshift with ease, and greatly enjoys doing so. Besides the pony form, Hijinx, that she takes when she wants to go incognito, she usually takes the form of large predators like lionesses or snakes, or sometimes of animals like chickens or gerbils for fun.
  • "Well Done, Daughter!" Girl: Pandora is a complicated case of this. She clearly is more similar to her father than her mother and may act like she doesn't care. However, she is seeking approval from everypony, and from her mom most of all. A good indication of this is the symbol she has hidden under her chest fur, resembling Twilight's cutie mark. As a teenager, she adored the mark as it gave her a connection with her mother as well as assurance that she wasn't a freak, but rather someone special and possessing a great magical destiny up ahead. However, Pandora's choices lead her to ditch being an official princess and thus now the mark only represents her failures as a true princess of Equestria... and in her own eyes, as a failure to Twilight.

Cuppetta "Cupcake" Diane Cake—eldest daughter of Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nextgen__cupcake_by_lopoddity_d9imd50png.jpeg
"Planning, mayhem, paperwork, arson, et cetera...I do whatever the boss needs. And I bake cupcakes."

Pandora's sidekick, partner-in-crime and later wife, Cupcake is the eldest daughter of Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich. Her demeanor is somewhat like a snarkier version of her aunt Maud, but she is a good pony at heart and does her best to help Pandora out while also reining her in.

  • Affectionate Nickname: Pandora calls her "Cuppy" or "Cups". She also called Cupcake “muffinbutt” when they began dating. Cupcake was unamused.
  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: Her duties as Pandora's henchpony—she does planning, mayhem, paperwork, arson... and bakes cupcakes. She also knows several ways to kill a stallion with her bare hooves, can make a quick weapon-grade bomb using only materials found in her kitchen cabinets, and makes fantastic vanilla buttercream cupcakes.
  • Badass Normal: Being able to stand up to Pandora while being a normal pony (by her family's standards) makes her this.
  • Big Sister Instinct: She loves her younger siblings just as much and anyone messing with them will find themselves in a solar system of hurt.
    • She gained this the moment she held them as infants, having given the nurse pony coming to check on them a very intimidating glare before her parents reassured her.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: With Pandora.
  • The Comically Serious: Especially notable when compared to the wacky, emotional Pandora as well as her own family.
  • Comic-Book Fantasy Casting: According to this post here, Cupcake would be voiced by Danielle Judovits, who voiced Big Patty, whom Cupcake is an Expy of.
  • Cool Big Sis: Her younger siblings, PB (Peanut Butter Sandwich), and J (Jamboree Sandwich) adore her and always want to make her smile and be around her. Cupcake rolls along with her younger siblings' antics or occasionally easily putting a stop to it. She is also very protective of them and anyone who find hurts them will certainly get their face smashed (which considering how sensitive the twins are, means one must choose their words well around them.)
    • Even the chance of anyone teasing or possibly hurting their feelings has her step up to the plate. Back when Pandora discovered PB's crush on her, she "thinks it's hilarious and gears up to go tease the hell out of him" before Cupcake stepped up. She flat-out tells Pandora if "she hurts PB's feelings, then Cupcake will wring her neck."
  • Daddy's Girl: Cupcake was this when she was a filly and still this as an adult. Before meeting Pandora and the birth of her siblings, she was closest to her parents, especially her dad. Cheese Sandwich always is there to comfort and support his daughter and the only pony who can always put a smile on her face without much effort. She also would always laugh at his "dad jokes."
  • Drill Sergeant Nasty: To her baking apprentice, Truffles. Cupcake will drag the poor filly out of bed at the crack of dawn to drag her to the bakery and learn the “Zen of whisking”, whatever that is, and her criticisms are nearly enough to drive the poor filly to tears. It's implied it's a holdover from her time in the military. That said, she knows when to tone it down.
    • She does this to Chakra when he starts working there. Besides shutting him up, it also ends up attracting him to her.
  • Expy: Word of God states her personality and trademark hair bow is based off Big Patty from Hey Arnold!
  • Friendly Rivalry: With Rosemary; the two are good friends... who occasionally like to beat the shit out of each other.
  • Genius Bruiser: Besides being extremely competent and physically fit, Cupcake is no slouch in the brains department. She got perfect grades as a filly and was accepted into the Academy of Magic Honors Branch, before dropping out to follow Pandora. She knows more about magic than any Earth Pony has a right to.
  • G-Rated Drug: Much like Mac from Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends, small amounts of sugar and or caffeine causes Cupcake to go completely off the rails. She goes off like an unrestrained version of her parents (a.k.a. her "party mode") and it's enough to frighten Pandora. As Word of Lop puts it:
Lopoddity: Cupcake has an unlockable "party mode" that kicks in if she takes in too much sugar or caffeine. During this hellish sugar rush she'll feel compelled to zip all around town with a manic, crazed urge to make friends, burst into song, and frantically decorate places and unsuspecting ponies with balloons, streamers, and confetti. It'll last roughly an hour until Cupcake eventually blacks out. She'll wake up groggy and with no memory of the sugar rush. This is why Cupcake is careful with her sweets consumption.
  • Hyper-Competent Sidekick: Very much has to keep her boss' plans from going awry and acts as the sane mare.
  • Informed Ability: Is supposedly very strong, but has yet to demonstrate it.
  • Mama Bear: Is extremely protective of Oddball. Also demonstrates this towards stepson Mako and daughter Fishcake in the Makoverse.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: In the same vein as her mother, her full name is Cuppetta Diane Cake, but everyone calls her Cupcake.
  • Rule 63: Beefcake is this for Cupcake. They are courteous to one another and tend to talk over tea.
  • Serious Business: She takes baking very seriously.
  • The Stoic: In contrast to Pandora's larger-than-life antics, Cupcake can rarely be pushed beyond a flat stare and monotone... unless someone messes with her family or she is exposed to certain amounts of sugar and or caffeine.
  • Shout-Out: Cupcake on a sugar rush is very reminiscent of a certain horror movie.
    Heeeere’s Cuppy!
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Shares her dad's color scheme, hairstyle and personality when she's cut loose. Personality-wise, she really channels her aunt Maud, whom Lopoddity seriously vacillated on being her mother.
  • Supreme Chef: Known for being an excellent cook, though baking is her specialty.
  • Took a Level in Badass: When she joined the Royal Military to become Pandora's knight.
  • Training from Hell: Went through this when she joined the Royal Military, especially from Tempest.
  • Wacky Parent, Serious Child: Her personality and mannerisms are the perfect opposite of her parents, unless under the effects of sugar and caffeine.
  • When She Smiles: Cupcake usually has a deadpan expression on her face in maintaining her stoic attitude. However, she has a wonderful smile, to the point where her siblings do everything they can to make her smile while their father Cheese Sandwich is able to do so quite easily.

Aerostorm—son and oldest child of Rainbow Dash and Dumbbell
Aerostorm is the oldest child and only son of Rainbow Dash and Dumbbell. Despite his massive flying potential, he is content to lay back, kick back and relax, much to her mother's chagrin at times. He ends up happily married with the stallion Bruce. They later have a daughter thanks to Pandora temporarily turning Bruce into a mare and a son thanks to Pandora turning Stormy himself into a mare. Secretly insecure about living up to Rainbow's ideal for him.

  • Afraid of Blood: Fainted when he saw Bruce butchering a fish and covered with blood.
  • Amicable Exes: With Peachy Keen, whom he used to date back when he worked on the Apple family farm, and also with Cuppa Joe. Subverted with his ex-boyfriend, Chakra Blossom.
  • Berserk Button: Don't call him stupid, even if you are his best friend; he won't take it well.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: While he has the All-Loving Hero sort of personality that comes with being a hippy, there have been a few occasions in Lop's art where he is clearly angry and very close to snapping, such as when he's forced to work with Bruce on a project and Bruce starts insulting him.
  • Blow You Away: He was born with a natural affinity for the air and wind, which allows him to create small tornadoes and to be able to navigate and somewhat control storms.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Aerostorm possesses both of his parents' intense flying abilities and he could easily outfly almost anyone, but prefers to lay back and relax rather than compete.
    • However, this is beginning to change upon meeting Zipperflash, the son of Lightning Dust. Upon seeing Zipperflash, Aero begins to feel inadequacy for the first time due to Zipperflash being seen as more of how a son of Rainbow Dash should have been. This prompts him to train to be a better flier.
  • Cool Big Bro: To his younger sister Cloudburst, though we haven't seen him interact with her yet. Phoenix Forge secretly looks up to Aerostorm, but her relationship with him is very tense because she regularly teased and mocked him as a filly, and Aerostorm doesn't trust her.
  • Covert Pervert: As beautifully shown here.
  • Eyes Out of Sight: His eyes are almost always covered by his hair.
  • Granola Guy: For a time during his life he decided to go "all natural" with personal hygiene, where he forewent everything except dust baths to keep himself clean. The realistic outcome occures when he got such a bad flea problem he had to have a bath and got the most mangy parts of his fur and feathers shaved off, leaving him a miserable wreck. He was much better at taking care of himself afterward. It later turned out that, of course, Chakra talked him into this.
  • In-Series Nickname: He prefers to be called "Stormy", but Rainbow Dash calls him "Fluffy" sometimes. When they were dating, Chakra called him "Daydreamer", which Stormy hates because he feels like Chakra was secretly calling him stupid.
  • "L" Is for "Dyslexia": Averted. While Aerostorm is dyslexic, it's fairly realistically done with Stormy struggling to recognize words and reading both slowly and clumsily. However, it's interesting that this was not discovered until he was a late teenager, withe everyone mistaking it as him just not being bright. Rainbow Dash was horrified and devastated that she did not catch this sooner.
  • Momma's Boy: Oh very much. He adores his mother Rainbow Dash and secretly worries about not living up to her expectations or making her proud. While Dash may be exasperated by her son's lack of drive in racing, she always shows him love and affection.
  • Mister Seahorse: The original plan to allow Bruce and Aerostorm to conceive a foal was to turn Stormy into a mare, but instead Bruce gets the mare treatment to carry their daughter Wave Rider. Later on, Stormy becomes a mare to carry their second foal, a colt they name Finn.
  • Nice Guy: The nicest guy of the next-gen and one of the nicest characters overall.
  • Precocious Crush: On Princess Cadence. Bruce is initially jealous but ultimately just enjoys watching Stormy look like a goof.
  • The Resenter: He really dislikes Chakra for having stuck with their abusive relationship for so long.
  • Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: Sensitive Guy to Bruce's Manly Man.
  • Spiders Are Scary: He's deathly afraid of spiders.
  • Too Good for This Sinful Earth: A variation, but in terms of the alt timelines presented thus far, Aerostorm has the highest death count (of admittedly two: one in the Makoverse and the other where he and Pandora end up together).
  • Understanding Boyfriend: Although we don't see much of this in his relationship with Bruce, it's implied he's this to Pandora in an alt timeline.

Rosemary—daughter of Fluttershy and Bulk Biceps
Fluttershy and Bulk Biceps' scatterbrained hippie of a daughter. A friendly mare, Rosemary is somewhat airheaded and flaky, but friendly and well-meaning. She is a fitness and yoga instructor and a health advocate. She is best friends forever with Aerostorm and has an bit of an Odd Friendship with Magnolia May. She is also good friends with Cupcake, and the two often meet up for some rather brutal sparring matches, which Rosemary rather enjoys, but keeps a careful guarded secret from everypony else, especially her mother.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Surprisingly competitive and loud at sporting events. Very much her father's daughter in that regard.
    • Best demonstrated when Rosemary meets Zipperflash. She puts a tight embrace in an attempt to get to cool down on messing with Zipperflash. She cheerfully mentions Aerostorm as her best friend before she flexes her muscles and Zipperflash feeling "an uncomfortable amount of pressure around his windpipe" in order to imply what'd happen if he doesn't stop.
    • Chakra is well-aware Rosemary would murder him if he hurt her older brother, Featherweight (though he remains one of the few ponies Chakra is amicable with, if only because he's family)
  • Big Sister Instinct: Age-inverted. She's fiercely protective of Featherweight and is well-known to be willing to murder anyone who messes with the dorky Pegasus.
  • Bully Hunter: Being badly bullied in her youth, Rosie herself doesn't tolerate any pony that bully others, best seen when she "gently threatens" Zipperflash to stop picking on Aerostorm, or else.
  • Cloud Cuckoo Lander: Not as bad as other examples, but she's rather scatterbrained.
  • Comic-Book Fantasy Casting: According to this post here, Lop pictures being voiced by Jennifer Tilly, in the same way she voiced Grace the Cow from Home On The Range.
  • Cute and Psycho: Despite being a Granola Girl hippie-chick, Rosemary has something of a fascination with violence. She and Cupcake like to get into "sparring matches" occasionally as an outlet for their destructive urges.
  • Dreaming of Things to Come: Occasionally, she has prophetic dreams.
  • Don't Tell Mama: She keeps Fluttershy in the dark about the less-than-peaceful side of her personality.
  • Everyone Has Standards: She's Chakra Blossom's cousin and even she gets annoyed with him.
  • Formerly Fat: She was chubby as a filly and was bullied a lot for it. She got her cutie-mark when she discovered her talent for physical fitness and self-care.
  • Granola Girl: Very much into yoga, body positivism, and veganism. Also runs a mares' self-defense class (alongside Cupcake) as well as an aerobics and a foalbirth and pregnancy course.
  • Odd Friendship: Surprisingly good friends with Bruce.
  • One True Threesome: She makes one with her Magnolia May and Zipperflash.
  • Secret Handshake: Has one with Aerostorm said to resemble "a cross between a peacock strut and a chicken having a seizure".
  • Seers: Can sometimes predict the future with tea leaves from her own dreadful home-made tea.

Magnolia May—daughter of Rarity and Applejack
A southern belle, Magnolia May is the daughter of AJ and Rarity. While she may seem prim and proper on the outside, she hides an intense and rough country core within. She has an Odd Friendship with Rosemary (with her being the only person Magnolia will let call her 'Maggie'). She is a hairdresser, but sees herself as a beauty artist (in the same way her mother is an artist) and loves nothing more than helping ponies look their best and glow with confidence
  • Alpha Bitch: As a teenager, she was this. She was a snooty and snobby pony who wanted to fit in and resorted to even tease Pandora. Needless to say, neither of her mothers were pleased in the slightest and Magnolia is ashamed of this past aspect.
  • Belligerent Sexual Tension: Had some with Zipperflash... back when they were dating Rosemary at the same time. Lampshaded by Rosemary who found it utterly hilarious... especially when they deny it.
Rosemary (while brandishing a butter knife): There's just so much sexual tension in the air, I was trying to see if I could physically cut it. Don't mind me, darlings.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: She's a lady. Ladies do not start fights... but they sure as hay can finish 'em!
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: During her bullying phase, Magnolia's methods were incredibly subtle and she hid her cruelty under a façade of Southern Belle sweetness, relying mostly on a Stealth Insult and manipulative behaviour to stay on top.
  • Do Not Call Me "Paul": She hates being called 'Maggie', but her cousin Peachy does anyway. Only her best friend Maggie can do it.
  • First Love: Turns out she was this toward Pandora.
  • Hidden Depths: Despite her prim and proper etiquette, she wrestles with her country background and that she is still a farm girl underneath. Despite her supposed disdain for the banjo, she is still very much capable of playing it (she was taught by her mother, Applejack.)
  • Hypocritical Heartwarming: Maggie may think Peachy Keen is a big clumsy doofus, but she still loves her cousin and is all too willing to stand up for her.
  • If It's You, It's Okay: Platonic variant where Rosemary is permitted to use the hated moniker "Maggie".
  • Lady Swearsalot: She can cuss like a sailor if prompted.
  • Lovable Alpha Bitch: Described being "made up of roughly 70% sass." Possessing Applejack's country sass along Rarity's high-class vanity, she knows she's better than you, but she is too much of a lady to tell you. Nonetheless, she is a good mare in her heart and close friends with Fluttershy's daughter, Rosemary. Furthermore, she loves to make other ponies look and feel good about themselves through her hairstyling, much like Rarity and her dresswork. In her own words:
Magnolia May: Now Darlin', I'm not sayin' I'm better than you — But I am thinkin' it mighty loudly.
    • Turns out there was a time she wasn't so lovable before her mothers snapped her out of it.
  • Odd Friendship: With Bruce of all ponies. And of course, her close friendship with Rosemary.
  • Pintsized Powerhouse: She's one of the shortest mares in the cast (not counting Cupcake), but she can access Applejack's earth pony strength when sufficiently pissed off.
  • Replacement Goldfish: When she was a filly, she was one to Spoiled Rich, who was badly missing her own daughter, Diamond Tiara and became something of a mentor figure to Magnolia. Unfortunately, this led to Magnolia becoming a Bitch in Sheep's Clothing Alpha Bitch and Spoiled couldn't understand Applejack and Rarity's objections to Magnolia's change in personality.
  • Super-Strength: She inherited Applejack's earth pony strength, although it only comes out when she's at her angriest.
  • Tomboy with a Girly Streak: Actually inverted; she's more like a Girly Girl with a Tomboy streak. When she was a filly, she was a lot like Applejack and frequently wrestled hogs; she developed her ladylike personality when she hit puberty, which was when she discovered her talent.
  • Youthful Freckles: Just like Applejack.

Important Relatives—the younger siblings and cousins of the mane cast.

Peanut Butter James Sandwich and Jamboree Jessie Sandwich (PB&J)—twin brother and sister, Cupcake's younger siblings
Pinkie and Cheese's twin children and Cupcake's beloved younger siblings, PB&J, as they're also known, form a two-pony comedy show, and are rarely seen apart.

Jamboree, the older twin by four minutes and smarter and more exuberant and outspoken than her shyer twin, generally acts as the leader the duo, and has a rather obvious attraction for Luna's offspring, Artemis, that she has no interest whatsoever in keeping anywhere near subtle.

Peanut Butter is a very chipper, happy-go-lucky, sweet pony, if somewhat shy. He's generally willing to let Jam handle running their show unless she's trying to con other ponies or something similarly sneaky, and tends to annoy his sister by insisting they do their show for free. He's also hopelessly smitten with Pandora.

  • Affectionate Nickname: Peebles or PB and Jammie or Jam, respectively.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Jam is silly and cheerful like Pinkie Pie, but she's also quite rude, self-centred and snide at times, such as her conversation with a depressed Skyla.
  • Comic-Book Fantasy Casting: According to this post here, Jam would sound like Harley Quinn (voiced by Arleen Sorkin) while PB would be voiced by Jack Mc Brayer (the voice of Wander from Wander over Yonder.)
  • Determinator: Just like Pinkie Pie, when Jamboree wants to befriend someone, there isn't much that will stop her.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: PB and Peachy Keen. Also Phoenix Forge and Jam.
  • Hopeless Suitor: Peanut Butter has a huge crush on Pandora. She doesn't reciprocate and isn't sure how to let him down properly.
    • Word of God mentions he would have an honest chance if he didn't place her on a pedestal.
    • To a lesser extent, there is Jamboree's pursuit of Artemis, resulting in the royal being flustered (though they are fond of Jam...)
      • Not so hopeless anymore as we see here.
  • Incorruptible Pure Pureness: PB is by far one of the most innocent characters in the 'verse and is the Morality Pet to a lot of characters. Midnight Abyss even went on a date with him once and beyond having a decent time, couldn't find in her to use a voodoo doll on him.
  • Official Couple: Against large odds, Jam ends up with heir of the night Artemis as more or less stated here.
  • Out of Focus: Jam gets a lot more screentime compared to PB, especially since she officially became Artemis' girlfriend.
  • Spider-Sense: They have a "Twinstinct" that lets them know if the other twin is in danger, hurt, or sad and in desperate need of ice cream.
  • Theme Twin Naming: Their initials spell PB&J, like the sandwich.
  • Those Two Guys: When they were first introduced, but lately Jam has been getting more focus on her because of her Ship Tease with Artemis.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, appropriately enough. Especially if their Cool Big Sis is making them.
  • Wholesome Crossdresser: Technically both of them are willing to wear clothing meant for the opposite gender but Jamboree does so more consistently.

Phoenix Forge— first daughter of Rainbow Dash and Dumbbell, younger sister of Aerostorm
Rainbow's first daughter and second child, Phoenix is also the younger sister of Aerostorm and the middle child of the family. After the fluffy, adorable disaster that was her first beloved bab, Rainbow still hoped for a more extreme daredevil of an offspring on her second attempt. Phoenix is certainly closer in personality to her parents than her big brother-she's strong, tough, confident, and views wrestling as a legitimate form of expressing affection (Stormy is a favorite target for painful, loving noogies). But alas, Phoenix gave Wonderbolt Academy an honest shot for her mom's sake, flunked out, then happily pursued her real passion, mechanical engineering. Phoenix is a blacksmith by trade (currently employed by the Canterlot Royal Guard), and feels perfectly at home in a blazing forge, crafting enchanted swords, armor, cannons, and the like. Best friends with Jam Sandwich.

  • Big Brother Bully: Age and gender inverted, when Phoenix was younger she was often rather cruel to her older brother, Aerostorm, such as stealing his diary. She would tease him and does a lot of rough stuff as a way of showing affection. However, Aerostorm was a sensitive colt and along with Phoenix's tendency of taking things too far, the two fought often as kids and they have a strained relationship as adults (namely Stormy does not trust her.)
  • Big Sister Instinct: She's fiercely protective of Cloudburst, her younger sister and the youngest child of the family.
    • Painfully subverted and inverted with her older brother, Aerostorm, whom she often teased when they were children. Unfortunately, she would often go too far and with Aerostorm's sensitivity, it led to a tense relationship between them as adults.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Somewhat subverted. While Rainbow Dash is apparently insisting that Phoenix could've made into the Wonderbolts if she put the effort. However,as Word Of Lop put it, Phoenix gave a genuine shot at Wonderbolt Academy, if for her mothers' sake. But, as mentioned prior, her real passion is being a mechanical engineer.
  • Butch Lesbian: Lop calls her one and says she has a "big butch crush" on Vogue.
  • Daddy's Girl: Adores spending time with her father.
  • Genius Ditz: Phoenix is very intelligent and capable when it comes to engineering, especially weaponry. However, she's not that bright in most other topics.
  • If You Ever Do Anything to Hurt Her...: Once gave a speech like this to Artemis when they began officially dating Jam, much to Artemis' bewilderment and Jam's amusement.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She actually loves her older brother a lot and deeply regrets how messed up their relationship is. She's also fiercely protective of those she cares for and nothing will stop her from telling you off if you mess with them.
  • The Lad-ette: Big time. Besides her rough physical displays of affection and her labor-intensive career, this is what Word of Lop says in regards: " She's very unladylike, with bad habits like spitting and scratching at herself like a dog."
  • Lady Looks Like a Dude: Word of God says she has a "complicated relationship with her femininity" and from her teens onwards she's regularly mistaken for a stallion.
  • Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: Arguably this trope is deconstructed in her relationship with Aerostorm, with Phoenix mocking him over his sensitive nature, puppy crush on Chakra Blossom and commenting that Aerostorm is more like a daughter than a son to Rainbow Dash. Though Phoenix is unaware of just how hurtful her remarks are, this strikes a nerve with Aerostorm. This has led to a strained relationship between them as adults and Phoenix carries alot of guilt over how she hurt her big brother.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Phoenix has this mentality with Aerostorm as her constant teasing has led to tension between them and while she has gotten better as an adult, Aerostorm doesn't trust her, something she wants to fix.
  • Wrench Wench: Her passion in life is engineering and she certainly has her fair share of scars from mishaps.

Cloudburst— second daughter of Rainbow Dash and Dumbbell, youngest sister of Aerostorm
The youngest daughter, Rainbow's third bab, a gentle, intelligent, well-mannered young lady. Cloud is a hipster, postmodern artist who likes to make weeping watercolor works out of rain, or paints using bits of liquid rainbow taken from the Cloudsdale weather factory. Her works fetch a handsome price on the art market nowadays, and she's enjoying some success in Canterlot as a model, sometimes seen in bizarre, eccentric outfits she fashions herself out of found objects. Cloudy isn't at all a good flier (she was born with dwarfism, her wings are very small and she can't fly for very long at all without overexerting herself), but Dash has resigned herself to her hippie-dippy kids at this point and very much loves her youngest daughter, taking great strides to defend her from bullying in Cloudy's youth. Dash might not understand all this "artsy-farty stuff", but you can bet she's there to cheer her daughter on (mortifyingly loud) at all her art shows and proudly displays Cloudy's trophies and awards (maybe she can't fly but she's still a winner)

  • Covert Pervert: Sure, she looks sweet and cute, but Lop says she also writes erotica under a pen name and her friends Vogue and Zee are two of her favourite muses. They are well aware she does this.
  • Hipster: Lopoddity describes her as such.
  • An Ice Person: The updated Cloudy now specialises in making ice-sculptures.
  • Irony: Cloudburst is the daughter of the legendary Rainbow Dash, fastest flier in Equestria and she was born with undersized wings.
  • Jock Dad, Nerd Son: Gender-flipped. Rainbow Dash is a very athletic individual. Her youngest daughter meanwhile is a successful artist while also being a model. Despite this, Rainbow is proud of what her youngest daughter is doing with her life and of her accomplishments.
  • Out of Focus: In-universe and out, poor Cloudburst doesn't get anywhere near the focus her siblings do, especially Aerostorm.
  • The Smart Guy: Of Rainbow Dash's kids, she's the most intellectual of the bunch.

Peachy Keen—daughter of Big Mc Intosh and Cheerilee, Magnolia May's cousin
The cheerful and upbeat daughter of Big Mac and Cheerilee. Very friendly and easygoing, she is always ready to support her friends in whatever they are doing. She has an extremely good relationship with her family, although her disinterest in apple farming does somewhat exasperate her auntie Applejack. Her boundless enthusiasm and can-do attitude allow her to weather nearly anything the world throws at her, but she has her breaking point, too...
  • Amicable Exes: She and Aerostorm used to date back in the day and are still friendly now.
  • Art Evolution: Her original design was more similar in build to an average background pony, and generally took more after Cheerilee. She was later redesigned to take after her dad in size.
  • Cool Big Sis: To her little cousin, Truffles.
  • Does Not Know Her Own Strength: Had trouble with this as a filly; it took her a while to learn how not to accidentally tear a door off its hinges, for instance.
  • Gentle Giant: Peachy Keen takes after her father in build, and towers over her cousins, but when confronted with direct emotional attacks she has the emotional fortitude of tissue paper.
    • Carries over to her human version, being a well-built farmgal.
  • Glass-Shattering Sound: Peachy is normally a very good singer, but sometimes she gets a tad too enthusiastic, and this trope happens.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: She very rarely uses even safe swear words; she considers blurting out "butterscotch" to be unacceptable profanity.
  • Green Thumb: Her talent is growing beautiful flowers.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: PB and Peachy Keen.
  • No Guy Wants an Amazon: According to Lop, Peachy's size and strength tends to frighten away potential suitors, much to her dismay.
  • Paper Tiger: She's big and monstrously strong, but she's actually sweet and sensitive and no good at standing up to bullies.
  • The Pollyanna: Peachy is notoriously cheerful and upbeat, even breaking into song, much to the mortification of her cousin Magnolia.
  • Super-Strength: The strongest pony in the cast, by a landslide. Hardly a surprise, considering who her father is.
  • Supreme Chef: Skyla, who is used to being served the finest food in Canterlot, calls Peachy's cobbler the best thing she's ever tasted.

Princess Skyla—daughter of Princess Cadance and Shining Armor, Pandora's cousin, younger sister of Flurry Heart.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nextgen_skyla_by_lopoddity_daga1h9png.jpeg
"Stressed out? Who's stressed out? I'm fine. This is fine. I haven't slept in two days. This is fine."
Princess Skyla, Princess Cadence and Shining Armor’s Pegasus daughter, is a stressed-out perfectionist (she got a particularly heavy dose of the Sparkle family’s issues with neurosis), obsessed with keeping up a properly regal and put-together image of herself. She is devoted to the Crystal Empire and her subjects, a major workaholic, and gets nowhere near as much sleep as she should. She desperately wants to be an Alicorn, and doesn’t get why Celestia won’t make her one. She also has some well-hidden emotional issues, and does not appear to be a particularly happy pony. She’s pen pals with Artemis, friends with Magnolia May, and has a crush on one of Pandora's friends (revealed to be Peachy Keen.)
  • Affectionate Nickname: Pandora used to call her "La-La”, back when she was still too little to pronounce her full name. Flurry Heart calls her this as well.
  • Always Someone Better: Being Flurry Heart's younger sister and a Pegasus while Flurry is an Alicorn is a source of huge insecurity for Skyla (this isn't helped by the fact that her paternal relatives are generally extremely powerful magic-users, something beyond Skyla's grasp); she's incredibly envious of her big sister but she admires her deeply as well.
  • Amazon Chaser: Her big secret crush is Peachy Keen, and one of the first things Skyla notices about her is how ripped the farmpony is.
  • Art Evolution: Starts as based off her toy (standard design in the fandom), then gets a lighter pink coat and a more unique design later.
  • Big Sister Instinct: Yes, while they may have strained relationships as young adults, Skyla still cares about Pandora in a big sisterly way. Best seen when she warns Moondancer she is very aware of how he really is as well as his thoughts and ambitions regarding Pandora. After getting a "The Reason You Suck" Speech from him, she counters back at him before giving him a firm warning.
Skyla: Or you’ll learn that I don’t need a horn to tear you to pieces.
The two glare at each other for a long moment. Skyla's wings flare open, making her appear regal, imposing, powerful. Moondancer eventually looks away.
Skyla: Do I make myself clear?
  • Broken Ace: Very dedicated and accomplished as a princess, but her relations with anyone other than her parents are stressed to lacking. Part of her rivalry with Pandora stems from the latter actually having friends. She also is on rough terms with Flurry Heart, her older sister, due to Flurry getting everything Skyla wanted yet rejected the life of a princess.
  • Comic-Book Fantasy Casting: According to this post here, Skyla would be voiced by Elastigirl's voice actress Holly Hunter.
  • Cool Big Sis: Pandora and Skyla actually got along very well when they were young children. Skyla also did her best to watch out for her and tried to teach her to be a proper princess. Nowadays, the two aren't on the best of terms, but they still care about each other, with Skyla still watching out for Pandora.
    • Considering that Skyla was fully helping Pandora with princess duties back as a teenager, the fallout most likely occurred soon after Pandora rejected her title of Princess.
    • Skyla's own big sister, Flurry Heart, tries to get Skyla to lighten up and relax. While Skyla can be exasperated by her older sister's nature, she does admire her and sometimes goes along with her to goof-off.
    • In the alternate timeline where Pandora was raised by Shining Armor and Cadance, Skyla is more so this and it's heavily implied that she is that Pandora's only friend.
  • Control Freak: As a side-effect of trying to present herself as a perfect princess, she is extremely bossy and demanding.
"All I request is complete and utter control and perfection at all times. Is that too much to ask?"
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Played With. At first glance, she's the Responsible to Flurry Heart's Foolish. She is working hard at wanting to be a princess and taking her duties seriously while Flurry Heart doesn't.
    • However, Flurry reveals her insecurities of being a princess and questions whether she really wants to do along with something she feels she may not be destined for. Meanwhile Skyla's obsession and neurosis is unhealthy and her drive to stride to what she thinks is a perfect princess has left her in virtual isolation and not in the best place. Furthermore, Skyla's drive with being seen as prim and proper seems to a variation of the adage of how wanting to appear as a grown-up is a sign of her own immaturity. Flurry Heart then has to help her younger sister lighten up.
  • Interspecies Romance: In two ways. Her first love was a merpony named Jin.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: Really, really wants to be an Alicorn, at least in part due to feelings of inadequacy from being born to two powerful magic-users while she, as a Pegasus, cannot actively use magic. The fact her big sister Flurry was born an Alicorn only rubs salt in the wound.
  • Lonely at the Top: Due to her being a princess and her duties, she actually lacks any friend friends or companions, only having "ladies-in-waiting, servants, or suck-ups." This makes her relationship with Pandora more troublesome as while she views Pandora as a troublemaker and failure of a princess, she realized that Pandora has actual friends unlike her.
  • Nice Girl: For the most part, yes. Though she has her neuroses, Lopoddity mentioned that while Skyla has occasional bitchy moments, she's actually a nice pony, but having Pandora as a cousin would drive anybody insane.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: She tries really hard to be a good princess and a responsible leader to her people, but she also has no true friends, a strained relationship with her family and suffered a lot of unrequited love. Compare and contrast that with the selfish Pandora and the flighty Flurry Heart, who both ditched their responsibilities. Pandora is in a much better place while it's not known how Flurry Heart is doing.
  • Not So Above It All: Not above teasing her cousin a lot nor pulling a retribution prank on them.
    • Also, she is not above joining her sister in some relaxing time, if only under her sister's begging.
  • The Perfectionist: Very much takes after her father's side of the family in that respect.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Gets one from Moondancer in regards to her ambitions in wanting to be a princess, however she immediately fires back with one of her own.
Moondancer: *nastily* I’m saying that you may have other ponies fooled, even yourself, but I know what you are. Parading about as a perfect pink pretty princess, wishing upon a star for a fancy new horn to pair with your wings...it’ll never happen. *raises head* You are not, nor will you ever be, Princess Flurry Heart.
    • After Skyla recovers, she starts one of her own by telling Moondancer that while she may never be her sister, he'll never be Starswirl:
Skyla: *sneering* So as long as we’re being completely frank with each other....I don’t like you. I am the heir to the princess of love...I am very talented at sensing emotions in ponies. I know how you look at Pandora. I see that jealous little gleam in your eye, I sense the malice in your mind, I know exactly what you desire in your rotten little heart, and for that, I have just one thing to say. *stands up straight to glower down at him* Stay away from my cousin, Moondancer.
  • The Resenter: Towards Flurry Heart, big time. Since Flurry was born with everything Skyla ever wanted and she chose to throw it all away, it's understandable.
  • The Rival: To Pandora, much like Moondancer. Unlike Moondancer, she still cares about Pandora and is well-aware of Moondancer's envy toward her cousin.
  • We Used to Be Friends: She and Pandora before their opposite personalities caused their friendship to fall apart, particularly when Pandora rejected her title as Princess, which Skyla used to mentor her about.
    • Her sister Flurry Heart used to be her best friend, even while Skyla envied her Born Lucky status. Then Flurry ran off, throwing it all away, and Skyla devolved into resenting her.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Skyla hates insects, which makes her relationship with Eerie rather... tense. She also doesn't like that Pandora's pet centipede likes to crawl out of her ear.

Apple Truffle—daughter of Apple Bloom and Snails, Magnolia May's cousin
  • The Apprentice: She’s learning the art of baking from Cupcake.
  • Breakout Character: Originally started out a one-shot character in a picture showing Rosemary at her job as a swim coach and quickly became popular with Lopoddity's watchers (and Lopoddity herself). A little later, she was made the next gen daughter of Apple Bloom and Snails and became a canon addition to the Pandoraverse.
  • Daddy's Girl: Snails absolutely adores his little "Truffle-Wuffle".
  • Hero-Worshipper: Tends to elevate ponies she admires to a sort of “senpai” status, most noticeably Cupcake.
  • In-Series Nickname: Truffles.
  • The Klutz: Much liker her oldest cousin, Peachy.
  • Motor Mouth: Will happily chatter excitedly and incessantly about anything that happens to interest her.
  • Precocious Crush: On Aerostorm. She hides whenever he's around.
    • Inverted as an adult, where she gains a crush on Oddball, despite being older. This causes her quite a bit of stress, especially given she knows that Cupcake would not be happy about it.
  • Serious Business: Baking, apparently.
  • Shrinking Violet: She tends to be a little shy around strangers, and it's implied she's teased by school ponies for being fat.

Prima Donna—daughter of Sweetie Belle and Rumble, Magnolia May's cousin.
The daughter of Sweetie Belle, Prima takes after her mother and is already a musical star and model at a young age. Because their fathers are brothers, she's also cousin to Zipperflash.
  • Adorably Precocious Child: So much so that she has difficulty interacting with ponies her age.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Truffles calls her "Donnie" and Zipperflash calls her "Don", but fans have been calling her "Prima" as well.
  • Brutal Honesty: She doesn't skirt over the fact that Truffles is fat — but counters that it doesn't matter at all and that Truffles is fine the way she is.
  • Child Prodigy: She's already a star as a filly and has her own dressing room, apparently.
  • Generation Xerox: She looks a lot like Sweetie Belle, except her mane has darker color tones.
  • The Prima Donna: It is her name. Averted as she's really a nice filly deep down.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Gives such a speech to Truffles in her first appearance, when the latter confesses to not liking the way she looks. It's also implied that this trope, as well as general positivism about one's self, is a core theme of her music.

Smokescreen — son of Thorax and Spike, Pandora's nephew
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Smokey is a polite and well-mannered youngster... who will pull out your teeth with pliers with a demure smile if you don't tell him what he's spying on you to find out.
  • Chameleon Camouflage: He has a unique magic in his scales that can allow him to blend into backgrounds and become virtually invisible.
  • Cute Mute: He can't speak, although this only applies to Equestrian (and presumably other languages that are based in similar speaking mechanisms such as dragon or griffin) — he's perfectly capable of speaking in Changeling, which is made up of rapid chitters and clicks of a changeling's retractable mandibles.
  • Don't Tell Mama: Spike and Thorax are oblivious to what he actually does for a living.
  • Kissing Cousins: He has a huge thing for Eerie, who is technically his aunt. He's aware of this and feels a lot of angst about it.
  • Stealthy Colossus: As an adult he's enormous, but is able to sneak around without making a sound.
  • Stealth Expert: His special talent is in espionage and as an adult he becomes a spy.

Friends, rivals and so on — friends, acquaintances and other potentially important characters not related to the Mane 6, but to other characters.

     Bruce—stallion, eventual husband of Aerostorm
Pandora's old schoolyard rival and fellow troublemaker. As a child, he endured a harsh childhood from an alcoholic mother and an abusive father and turned to being a bully to avid being picked on. As a teenager, he and Pandora actually had a relationship, but their natures meant it falling apart was inevitable. As an adult, he works as a marine biologist and is married to Aerostorm, with whom he had a daughter, Wave Rider, conceived when Pandora turned Bruce into a mare for the duration of a pregnancy—except that according to the agreement, she was supposed to turn Aerostorm into a mare. Again, Pandora and Bruce aren't on terribly good terms.

  • Abusive Parents: Not Bruce, himself, but his father, Captain Cutthroat, was emotionally abusive, generally ignoring his son and only acknowledging his existence to bark out orders, and to teach him how to kill the sea life Bruce was growing to love. His mother, Fey Ocean, tried to be a good parent, but her own issues with depression and alcoholism prevent her from giving Bruce the care he needed. It's later explained here that the origin of their abusive natures came from the untimely death of their first son, Butch.
  • Animal Motif: Sharks. His cutie mark is a shark jaw, he got the scar on his cheek in a fight with a shark, he's as a marine biologist and often works with sharks, and his full name is Bruce Charcharodon, as in the scientific name of the genus to which great white sharks belong.
  • Awesome Aussie: Was created in part as an homage to Steve Irwin, so it's kind of a given.
  • Berserk Button: He had a few when he was younger: don't imply his parents don't love him, and don't call him short.
  • The Bully: He was this during his school days for most of his life until a prank gone wrong got him sent to juvenile hall. Nowadays, however, he's Schoolyard Bully All Grown Up, being a marine conservationist with a husband and daughter, with a son later added as well.
  • Big Ol' Eyebrows: A whopping pair of thick, black man-brows.
  • Deadly Prank: Nearly. He deliberately sabotaged a classmate's science project as a joke. It caused a large explosion that broke the victim's arm and was serious enough in consequences to get him sent to juvie.
  • Doting Parent: To his and Aerostorm's daughter, Wave Rider.
  • Gayngst: Goes through a brief period of this when he realizes he is attracted to stallions. While technically bisexual (he did have a serious relationship with Pandora and an alt-future has him with Cupcake), it's still a great deal of pain because of his upbringing. He does move past this thanks to Magnolia's support.
  • Hated by All: Went through this a lot in his youth. His father massively resented him for not being his dead older brother, he was a bully in school who got ratted out after a prank gone wrong, was bullied himself in juvenile hall, was entirely friendless once he got out, and was basically alone until he finally started being nice to people.
  • Irony: As a very passionate marine conservationist, he's essentially become one of the nerds he used to pick on in school. The irony isn't lost on him.
  • Lonely Together: Something of a cornerstone of his and Pandora's relationship. Both weren't in the best of places, but had each other:
Lopoddity: Bruce and Pan dated in their very late teens, when they were still figuring out their places in the world. Pan was still dutifully training to be a princess, and Cupcake was off training to be her royal knight, leaving Pan quite stressed and lonely. Bruce’s friends were moving on with their lives, leaving him miserable and trapped working for his father, a fisherpony (Bruce’s passion is marine conservation). So both were lonely, and sort of lost.
  • Morality Pet: His seahawk Pearlie, later joined by Aerostorm. Later in life, his daughter joins them in this role.
  • Mister Seahorse: He carried Wave Rider (his and Aerostorm's filly); admittedly, this was after Pandora turned into a mare for the duration of the pregnancy.
  • Original Character: The only major next-gen character to not be related to any canon show character for quite some time until Nocturnus came along.
  • Odd Friendship: With Magnolia May, of all ponies. It started when she noticed his looks and was helping him not look raggedy, with him going on because of being oddly drawn to her charming nature.
    • Also with Rosemary. When you think about it, one could consider most of his friendships these, considering his attitude.
  • The Rival: To Pandora, especially when they were children. Even now, they don't get along, though the way their relationship ended also probably was a big element.
  • Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: Manly Man to Aerostorm's Sensitive Guy.
    • In an alternate timeline where his big brother Butch never died, he would've been the Sensitive Guy to his brother's Manly Man.
  • The Unfavorite: The reason his father treated him so cruelly was because Bruce was compared to Butch, his deceased older brother and felt Bruce could never catch up. However, Bruce seems unaware of Butch's existence and so grew up in the shadow of an older brother he never knew.
    • Word of God eventually revealed that this would have been true even if Butch hadn't died as Bruce's inherent nature and love of sharks and other marine life would have clashed with what his father believed "a real stallion" was.

Zipperflash—son of Lightning Dust and Thunderlane and rival to Aerostorm
Aerostorm's rival in racing, he came onto the scene with speed and breaking records. Cocky and a show-off, he is what many assumed a son of Rainbow Dash would be, causing Aerostorm to re-examine himself and for the first time, pushing himself. Despite his antagonism of Aerostorm, he secretly looks up to him.

  • Abusive Parents: A more downplayed version than some, but his mother, Lightning Dust, makes it very clear that Zipperflash must win everything to win Mom's love. Thunderlane did most of the actual parenting of Zipperflash.
  • The Ace: Fast like Aerostorm, but motivated. Though there are possibly cracks...
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Lopoddity mentioned Zipperflash tends to crush on just about anybody who gives him some positive attention.
  • Belligerent Sexual Tension: Had some with Magnolia May... back when they were dating Rosemary at the same time. Lampshaded by Rosemary who found it utterly hilarious... especially when they deny it.
Rosemary (while brandishing a butter knife): There's just so much sexual tension in the air, I was trying to see if I could physically cut it. Don't mind me, darlings.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Not technically her brother, but he's pretty close with his little cousin Prima, seeing her as a surrogate little sister and calling her "Don." She was the one who gave him the idea for his signature eyebrows.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Golden eyes to match his blonde mane and tail.
  • Desperately Craves Affection: Word of God states that Zipperflash tends to develop crushes on pretty much anyone who is nice to him.
  • Hidden Heart of Gold: He presents a very cocky and arrogant face to Aerostorm, but is secretly a huge fanboy of Aero's.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Referred to Bruce as "a yahoo with strange eyebrows" first time he saw him. This coming from a showy Pegasus with lightning-bolt shaped eyebrows. Possibly could be justified by the fact that Bruce's eyebrows are natural while Zipperflash's are stated to be plucked into shape.
  • The Rival: To Aerostorm, proudly picking up where their respective mothers left off.
  • Shadow Archetype: To Aerostorm, being The Ace he could be if he applied himself. That it's claimed Zipperflash should have been Rainbow Dash's son instead of Aerostorm is making the latter seriously second-guess his life choices and beginning to take seriously his racing.
    • He and Aero are also big mama's boys and want to make their mothers proud. However, while Rainbow is loving and supporting of her son regardless of his athletic performance, Lightning Dust has made it clear she expects Zipperflash to be nothing less than a winner.
  • Shock and Awe: He generates electricity as his speed trail.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: He is very foul-mouthed. Prima Donna tried to counteract by using a swear jar—every time he swears he has to put in a bit. By now the jar's so full she could probably use it as a future college fund.
  • Trash Talk: Absolutely loves doing this, all part of his Jerk Jock act.
  • Troll: He likes to rile up Aerostorm and in a would-be relationship with Bruce, ends up becoming publicly open with his displays of affection to get a rise out of him.
  • Unusual Eyebrows: They're shaped like lightning bolts. Turns out he plucks them into shape.

Moondancer—son of Trixie Lulamoon, adopted son of Maud Pie, biological son of Blueblood
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nextgen__moondancer_by_lopoddity_dage73dpng.jpeg
"You'll regret this."
The son of Trixie Lulamoon, he is a serious and studious unicorn with great ambitions on becoming a sorcerer. This derives from his desire to live up to the legacy of his ancestor, Starswirl the Bearded. However, this is also fueled by his envy and pride, having severed his friendship with Pandora, envying her for her power.

  • Ambition Is Evil: Lopoddity mentioned that "there's not a lot Moondancer wouldn't do for more power."
    • Skyla (who is just as ambitious as Moon is, but for selfless reasons), is very aware of this and Moondancer's feelings toward Pandora, warning Moondancer of the dire consequences should he try anything to her.
  • The Apprentice: His great talent for magic led to Twilight taking him on as a personal apprentice.
  • Big Bad: Seems to be shaping up to be the main antagonist of the Pandoraverse.
  • Body Horror: The most obvious symptoms of his eventual use of dark magic are the growths of massive purple crystals erupting throughout the upper left side of his body, ripping through his skin as they do so in what is apparently a rather painful process. It’s… ugly.
    • One not-entirely-canon outcome involves his experiments costing him an arm. He frankly refers to it as one of his more costly mistakes.
  • Child Prodigy: His talent for magic showed itself very early. Even as a foal, he was proficient enough for Twilight to train his as her apprentice.
  • Control Freak: Moondancer wants everything his way and boy is he pissed if it isn't. According to Word of God, he and Midnight Abyss have known each other since childhood owing to Trixie and Starlight Glimmer being friends and he was always very bossy and critical of Midnight, leading her to eventually ditch him.
  • The Corruption: In his search for power, Moondancer eventually absorbed King Sombra’s horn into himself to obtain his dark magic. While this did give him the great power he wanted, it also caused several large, purple crystalline growths to begin pushing through his skin, causing him great pain in the process, and growing the more he used the dark magic. Simply not using the magic wasn’t an option either by that point, since by then he had developed a drug-like addiction to its use.
  • Disappeared Dad: Moondancer's father, Prince Blueblood, has no interest in his son, and was unaware of his existence for a while. Trixie parted ways with him when she was still pregnant, and it took a long while for her to tell Moondancer who his father is. Even after Moondancer tracked him down, it was clear that Blueblood had no interest whatsoever in raising or even accepting his son.
  • Dramatic Irony: One reason for his envy towards Pandora is that he feels that, as a descendant of Starswirl the Bearded, he should be a more proficient magician than Pandora. Leaving aside that Pandora is the daughter of an Alicorn and a Draconequus, she is also a descendant of Starswirl through Twilight, something he may or may not be aware of. Lastly, Discord himself was a student of Starswirl, technically giving Pandora more claim to being Starswirl's heir than Moondancer.
    • Also, given the recent reveal that Starswirl was a Cool Old Lady instead of the regal (male) The Archmage most believe, Moondancer would be more like his idol if he acted more like Pandora.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: Looks enough like a mare that stallions keep hitting on him, to his great irritation.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: Not in canon, but in an alternate universe, he ends up in a happy relationship with Pandora and even marries and has a child.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: Pandora calls him 'Marshmallow' when she wants to piss him off. Which is all the time.
  • Entitled Bastard: Referred to "entitled" by Word of God, this is a variation of the trope; because he is descended from Starswirl, he believes he should be the best at magic, yet Pandora being so much better, drives him to envy and mania.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Lopoddity states that no matter power-hungry Moondancer gets, his soft spot for children renders him incapable of hurting a foal.
    • He briefly considered stealing the souls of Starlight Glimmer and Sunset Shimmer, viewing their domestic life as a waste of potential, but when Midnight pleads with him not to hurt them, he doesn't go through with it.
  • Famous Ancestor: Through his mother, he's a very distant descendant of none other than Starswirl the Bearded.
  • Fatal Flaw: Envy. He would do whatever it took to get more power, as long as he would surpass Pandora.
    • To a more subconscious extent, Pride. He places great Pride in being the descendant of Starswirl and it is what drives him to be the best at magic and surpassing Pandora, whom he doesn't see as worthy of her power (ironically enough, Pandora is also a descendant of Starswirl through Twilight, who is also an Alicorn and the Element of Magic, while Discord himself was mentored by Starswirl as a child).
  • Friend to All Children: He's very friendly towards children and even performs basic magic tricks for them, despite normally preferring not to use his talent for what he sees as "fake" magic.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Moondancer is very envious of Pandora's greater talent and potential of magic, even back when they were friends as kids.
    • He is also hugely jealous of Midnight Abyss having immense magical talent that actually surpasses his own. He was also jealous of Chakra Blossom's friendship with her.
  • It's All About Me: All he cares about is becoming more powerful so ponies will admire and respect him and gets incredibly pissy when people don't immediately drop what they're doing to help him achieve this, such as Midnight refusing to cast a decoding spell when he finds Trixie's diary, because how dare she have other things to do!
  • Like Father, Like Son: He shares quite a few personality traits with his biological father, an extreme sense of entitlement being the biggest one.
  • My Beloved Smother: Trixie is described as being "overbearing", but she means well.
  • Never My Fault: Word-for-word during his fight with his mother before he left home, when he refused to take blame for anything wrong with his life, blaming his mother instead for the perceived inadequacy of his magic and others' lack of respect for him.
  • Nonstandard Character Design: Has a "classic" unicorn look, with hairy fetlocks and a leonine tail.
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted, as he shares his name with Twilight's old friend, since he was created before Amending Fences came out.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech:
    • Gives one to Princess Skyla, mocking her for wanting to become an Alicorn princess and her envy of her sister, Flurry Heart. It backfires immensely when she fires back a speech of her own, hitting him right where it hurts.
    • After Skyla recovers, she starts one of her own by telling him that while she may never be her sister, he'll never be Starswirl the Bearded:
Skyla: *sneering* So as long as we’re being completely frank with each other....I don’t like you. I am the heir to the princess of love...I am very talented at sensing emotions in ponies. I know how you look at Pandora. I see that jealous little gleam in your eye, I sense the malice in your mind, I know exactly what you desire in your rotten little heart, and for that, I have just one thing to say. *stands up straight to glower down at him* Stay away from my cousin, Moondancer.
    • Also gives a nasty one to Trixie, who can only watch in tears as he storms out and doesn't come back.
  • The Reveal: He has a cutie mark, but he keeps it covered with a cloak. It's finally revealed here.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: Used to be a sweet, friendly, and cheerful foal before he was consumed by his obsession with being the most powerful sorcerer in the world and his envy of Pandora’s immense magical talent. Now, he’s a selfish, entitled, and borderline maniacal stallion. Finding out that his biological father not only wanted absolutely nothing to do with him but was willing to threaten Trixie to get Moondancer to leave him alone did not help.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Like Princess Skyla, he was good friends with Pandora before he became obsessed with surpassing her and becoming an ultimate sorcerer like Starswirl the Bearded. Despite Pandora actually attempting to patch things up and catch up (albeit in kind of a condescending way), he ultimately rebuffs her.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: Moondancer desperately wants to be acknowledged for his magical prowess, which may have something to do with Prince Blueblood rejecting him when they finally meet. Trixie tried to warn him what would happen, but poor Moondancer just didn't want to believe it.
  • Wouldn't Hurt a Child: Even at his absolute worst, Lopoddity says that Moondancer just cannot stomach harming a foal.
  • Your Soul Is Mine!: Eventually, the horn of King Sombra gives him the ability to literally suck the souls out of other ponies. He gains all of their magic power and adds it to his own, while his victims are left as inanimate crystal statues and their consciousness trapped and powerless inside his own mind.

Artemis—child of Princess Luna and Daedalus Ravenwing
The solitary and enigmatic child of the Princess of the Night and an unknown father (rumored to be a hippogriff). Heir to the moon. Does not identify as male or female, and prefers to be referred to as "they". Nocturnal by preference, Artemis doesn't enjoy being out and about in the day overmuch, and sunburns fairly easily. They're also gifted with one of the most impressive sets of fangs in Equestria, which results in a rather... unfortunate smile.

  • Ambiguous Gender: Artemis does not consider themselves male or female. Their biological sex has not been stated (and probably never will be).
  • Cannot Spit It Out: A variation. Artemis initially had trouble announcing that Jam was their special somepony. They then proceed to subvert it in a hilariously awesome way when Jam riles Artemis up.
  • Charm Person: They have the ability to hypnotize others through eye contact and compel them to do Artemis' will, something that derives from their mother's ability to enter the minds of sleeping ponies.
  • Comic-Book Fantasy Casting: According to this post here, Artemis' would be voiced by Dan Mitz, who also voices Tina Belcher, from Bob's Burgers.
  • Cuteness Proximity: They have a soft spot for baby animals.
  • Disappeared Dad: Their father is deceased, though his appearance has finally been revealed here as an owl-like hippogriff. His name has not been fully revealed, but given how his full name mentions being from "House Ravenwing", we can assume his father's surname was Ravenwing.
  • Hypnotic Eyes: They have the ability to hypnotize others' minds, something that requires steady, unbroken eye contact to take effect.
  • Nightmare Face: Not usually, but they have a rather... disturbing smile. The fangs don't exactly help. Sweet Faust, and when they eat...
  • No Sense of Humor: Enough to make other ponies uncomfortable.
  • No Social Skills: Implied by Word of God. Probably as a result of being sheltered and their unique appearance.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: They have a curved horn, unlike unicorns or other Alicorns.
  • Not a Morning Person: They are the heir to the Night, after all.
  • Official Couple: Heavily implied here that they have become one with Jamboree.
  • Opposites Attract: The serious and broody heir of the night with the bouncy and flirty Jamboree.
  • Overly Long Name: Their full name runs Artemis Tiberius Nocturnes Selena Sagitta, of Houses Lunarius Invictus & Ravenwing.
  • Power Perversion Potential: Subverted. Despite Pandora and Iridescence's suggestions, they are careful not to abuse their hypnotic powers.
  • Precocious Crush: When they were young and training to be the future Captain of the Guard, they were crushing fairly hard on Shining Armor.
  • Scary Teeth: A mouthful of sharp fangs; the creepiness factored is amplified since despite their mixed genealogy, there is no real reason for them to be on Artemis. Word of God has commented that it's meant to be a leftover from Nightmare Moon.
  • Shadow Walker: They can use their ability to magically control darkness to travel in and out of shadows, something most other people find quite creepy.
  • Tender Tears: According to Lopoddity, Artemis is usually moved to quiet tears whenever they read a letter that their deceased father left for them.
  • Uneven Hybrid: Being the child of a pony and a hippogriff (specifically stated to be a pony X griffon hybrid), they're a quarter griffon and three quarters pony.
  • The Un-Smile: Artemis is usually a very stoic pony, and not prone to showing much emotion. So one day, Jamboree decides to get them to smile. The results are predictably unpleasant.
  • We Named the Monkey "Jack": A "We Named the Dog Indiana" example; Princess Luna's beloved pet possum was also named Tiberius and and is presumably where the name came from in Artemis' full name.
  • When She Smiles: Played With. After Jamboree recovered from the initial shock of the fangs, she saw an endearing quality to the smile, describing it as "sort of cute, in a nightmarish sort of way". She also liked Artemis' laugh, despite said laugh being described as "sort of a cross between a school filly's bashful giggle and a hell demon's deep cackle."

Iridescence—daughter of Chrysalis and Princess Celestia
The rambunctious daughter of Princess Celestia and Chrysalis. Heir to the sun. Silly and fun. Enjoys bugging her cousin Artemis and Princess Skyla.

  • Art Evolution: She started out being brown with golden eyes and a white mane. Lopoddity resigned her to give a white pelt with a teal sort of mane resembling Celestia's and so on. According to Word of God, this is due to her finding that Iridescence's original design looked too much like Zipperflash and not enough like her parents (especially Celestia.) The white pelt also added to her deceptively innocent looks.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Bugaboo by Princess Celestia, much to Chrysalis' chagrin.
  • Dating What Daddy Hates: She's Friends With Benefits with Cuppa Joe, much to the disapproval of both her mother Chrysalis and Joe's godmother Zesty Gourmand.
  • Emotion Eater: Like her mother Chrysalis. While she prefers to feed off love, she can feed off all emotions (which all have different flavors). She can still eat regular food, but she needs to feed off emotion to survive.
  • Friend to Bugs: This is how she and Pandora first bonded. She's the one who gave Pandora her pet centipede Jeff.
  • Friends with Benefits: With Cuppa Joe. Also had a semi-serious relationship with Pandora.
  • The Gadfly: Likes to annoy her cousin, Artemis, because It Amused Me. Enjoys messing with Skyla for similar reasons.
  • Hartman Hips: In her human incarnation, she has a huge booty, which she apparently got from Celestia.
  • Hollywood Acid: Chrysalis says her "acid glands are already salivating" and her drool is described as melting the floor. As a newborn.
  • Horror Hunger: As part of being a royal changeling, she experiences hunger for love much more intensely than other changelings. If she goes too hungry for too long, she'll enter a feral, ravenous state, mindlessly seeking out ponies to suck dry of love.
  • In-Series Nickname: Eerie. It originally started as a name by rude school fillies, but she loves it and insists on being called it.
  • Insult Backfire: Loves being called "Eerie".
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She endlessly mocks and teases both Artemis and Skyla and is described as quite manipulative, but she's quite fond of and kind to Pandora, comforting her when she's upset and openly enjoying their time as Friends with Benefits.
  • Omniglot: She can speak pony and changeling.
  • The Slacker: She tends to shirk on her responsibilities as a Princess, which causes annoyance to Chrysalis.
  • Sweet Tooth: She's always eating something sugary or covered in frosting. She also likes to feed off love because it tastes the sweetest.
  • Uptown Girl: For Cuppa Joe, as Eerie is the heir to the throne of Canterlot while Joe is a commoner barista.

Cuppa Joe—son of Doughnut Joe and Cinnamon Chai

  • Amicable Exes: With Aerostorm.
  • Breakout Character: Much like Truffles, he started out as a one-time character but became a permanent addition after gaining positive reception.
  • The Charmer: He is a huge flirt and doesn't really mind if his target is male or female.
  • Friends with Benefits: With Princess Iridescence.
  • Kindhearted Cat Lover: He's quite fond of cats, and has a habit of adopting strays, which he names after types of coffee. He knits them tiny sweaters and plays them pretentious songs on his guitar.
  • Must Have Caffeine: Joe’s something of a coffee addict; he needs his morning cup to get through the day, and has a very low opinion of decaf coffee.
  • Odd Friendship: Friendship may be a strong word, but he does have a bond with Zesty Gourmand of all ponies. She was a friend of Cinnamon's and Cuppa's cooking mentor. It's a very... unique relationship as noted below.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Him and his former cooking mentor, Zesty Gourmand are very much this. Per Word Of Lop:
Lopoddity: Yep, Zesty and Joe hate each other.....but they love each other........but they hate each other.......but they meet up for a civil coffee every so often. Only Joe is allowed to call her a joyless hag, and only Zesty is allowed to call him a porcine oaf. Mentor and student, bonded forever~

Lucifer a.k.a. "Lucy"—daughter of King Sombra and Lord Tirek

Morning Glory (Midnight Abyss), daughter of Sunset Shimmer and Starlight Glimmer
  • And I Must Scream: After Moondancer consumes her soul, her mind is left trapped within his own, completely powerless to act or communicate with anyone besides Moondancer himself or stop him from endangering others.
  • Breakout Character: Not as much as Chakra Blossom, but she went from just a one off to another member of the cast and even got a zombie friend.
  • "Darkness von Gothick" Name: She changed her name from Morning Glory to Midnight Abyss and doesn't like being addressed by her old one.
  • Emo Teen: Ponyville's resident emo kid. She renamed herself Midnight Abyss (to reflect the darkness she feels in her soul) and would dye her coat black if her mums would allow her. Her moms don’t really take this attitude seriously, to her great annoyance.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Played for Laughs, but Word of God said this on shipping Morning with anypony:
Lopoddity: Ya’ll suggested pairing her with Cupcake, Moondancer, Rosemary, Chakra Blossom, Lucy (Lucifer), Truffles, Magnolia May, Skyla, PB Sandwich, Jam Sandwich, Pandora, Bruce, Artemis....like geez as though inflicting this little ball of sweet smiling sunshine and rainbows on anyone wouldn’t be a form of cruel and unusual punishment.
    • More thoroughly demonstrated when people started shipping Morning with her pet zombie. This culminated with Lop outright stating why I Love the Dead is both horribly disturbing and not useful for any sexual benefit before declaring her intent to dump bleach on her brain. Full details here.
    • On a lighter note, she may be an Emo Teen but she does love her mothers and is fond of her zombie assistant Bertram, the first corpse she ever managed to resurrect. And despite the fact it didn't end in romance, she enjoyed her date with PB and he is one of the few ponies she won't make a voodoo doll for.
    • And on a more serious topic, despite being a mare with a dark attitude, she still has a basic sense of decency. She wasn't happy to say the least with Chakra's treatment of Aerostorm during their relationship (despite finding Aerostorm annoying). This got so bad to where she ended her friendship with Chakra.
  • Fighting from the Inside: Though she's stuck trapped in Moondancer's head for now, she's still there dishing out the snark and calling him out on his atrocious acts. And Moondancer can't really do anything to shut her up.
  • Freudian Excuse: Her hostile perspective on friendship becomes somewhat understandable when you examine her two main friends were Chakra Blossom and Moondancer. She broke off with them when they ended up becoming unlikable ponies (though Chakra's was a bit more tragic than Moondancer due to circumstances.)
    • Her Emo Teen behaviour is given a lot more depth when it's explained that Starlight and Sunset are quite smothering as parents and care more about what they want Midnight Abyss to be rather than appreciating her for what she is.
  • Hidden Depths: It's mentioned that when Midnight was born, Sunset Shimmer and Starlight Glimmer named her Morning Glory because they wanted her to be their "sweet little ball of sunshine". A recent drawing of a filly Morning Glory shows she feels miserable being forced into this role and she changed her name to Midnight Abyss because she feels it reflects her true nature, not the person her mothers want her to be.
    • Also, while romantic entanglements don't interest her, she finds the notion of mistreating one's partner to be absolutely disgusting and broke off her friendship with Chakra because of how he treated Stormy. For added nobility, she didn't even like Stormy but couldn't stand the idea of him being abused by someone who claimed to love him.
  • Magic Music: In this case, her songs resurrect corpses.
  • Necromancer: As part of her special talent for witchcraft, she is quite skilled at necromancy, holding seances with the spirits of the deceased and reanimating corpses as zombies, most notably her closest friend, Bertram, the first corpse she ever reanimated.
  • Perpetual Frowner: She doesn't smile much. Even as a newborn filly.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Gives a great one to Moondancer:
Midnight Abyss: You're jealous! ...That's what this has always been about. Hasn't it? You were jealous that a little pink filly had stronger, superior magic than the mighty, great and powerful Moondancer. That's why you cooked up this whole 'brotherly guidance' thing, isn't it? Celestia above. For all that "my dear" this and "sweetheart" that...you never really cared about me at all, did you?
  • Sacrificial Lion: The first victim of Moondancer's soul absorption spell.
  • Sour Grapes: She doesn’t have any real friends, and so convinced herself that friendship is for sentimental weaklings.
  • Taken for Granite: Is left as nothing but a statue after Moondancer's soul absorption spell.
  • The Trickster: Like her mothers, she's very magically talented, but she uses it to brews up potions and bottle spells to sell to suckers.
  • Voodoo Doll: She owns several voodoo dolls of debatable effectiveness of people she doesn't care for, including Moondancer and Pandora.
  • We Used to Be Friends: She and Chakra Blossom had a sort-of friendship back in the day, with both of them in an unsuccessful band.
    • Their Odd Friendship was founded on their dual misery and how different they felt from the expectations of their parents. However, Chakra's increasing levels of jerkassness began ruining their friendship, especially when he was dating Aerostorm. Turns out his treatment of Stormy was what made her realize Chakra's jerkishness and she quit being friends with him.
  • Wise Beyond Their Years: Though Midnight is one of the younger members of the cast, she's shown to be a shrewd and intelligent character, such as seeing through Chakra's hippie façade, being able to discuss feelings of alienation and identity issues with Chakra Blossom as a filly and is magically talented and knowledgeable enough to raise the dead.

    Bertram, Morning Glory's zombie assistant
  • All Zombies Are Dogs: He acts very dog-like, enjoying walks, squeaky toys, and dog biscuits (despite not needing to eat), and has about the intelligence of one as well.
  • Intelligible Unintelligible: He only ever makes moaning noises, but Midnight seems to understand him perfectly well. Apparently, he's a tad sarcastic.
  • Mysterious Past: Lop's been completely mum about Bertram's backstory before becoming a zombie, leaving it up to the fans to decide what they want to believe about him.
  • Only Friend: To Midnight (not that she'd admit that).
  • Our Zombies Are Different: He doesn't have a hunger for brains, or wander aimlessly searching for memories of his past life. He also doesn't like zombie movies.
  • This Is My Mistress: Does this when particularly stubborn new zombies are in position to steal Midnight's attention from him.
  • Undying Loyalty: Is utterly devoted to Midnight even when there's no longer a magical reason to be and even lets out a Howl of Sorrow when it appears he's been permanently separated from his mistress.
  • Voodoo Zombie: Reanimated by Midnight's necromancy and about as intelligent as a small child, Bertram doesn't really engage in stereotypical zombie behavior like hungering for the flesh of the living. Mostly, he just helps Midnight out.

Chakra Blossom, son of Tree Hugger and Zephyr Breeze, cousin of Rosemary.
The child of Tree Hugger and Zephyr Breeze, born out of wedlock, Chakra Blossom seems, on first appearance, a charming, bright and harmless hippie fond of reciting New Age ideals. Deep down, however, it's all an act meant to mooch off of and take advantage of other ponies' kindness, Chakra not believing any of the hippie philosophy he recites, seeing it mainly as a way to make others lower their guard around him. and being himself a selfish and manipulative pony with very little respect for others, something due in no small part to the fact that Zephyr and Tree Hugger never had any business being parents, to say the least. Chakra doesn't get along with either his cousin Rosemary or his ex-boyfriend Aerostorm, but genuinely loves his aunt Fluttershy, who was the closest thing to a competent parent he had growing up.

  • Abhorrent Admirer: Even though they’ve broken up, Chakra is still clearly attracted to Stormy. Stormy strongly dislikes him and wants nothing to do with him.
  • Bastard Bastard: Chakra was born out of wedlock — Zephyr and Tree Hugger were never married — and he’s a pretty selfish character.
  • Breakout Character: Along with Midnight Abyss/Morning Glory, he became this when Lopoddity found he made a compelling antagonist as the anti-Rosemary.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Much like his father, he’s genuinely talented, in his case at singing and soothing others, but is too afraid of failure to develop this. Unlike Zephyr, he lacked proper family support and is much much more screwed up because he has many other issues.
  • Cassandra Truth: Eventually, after he shaped up and abandoned his old manipulative and selfish ways, he's the only one to catch on that Moondancer was responsible from Midnight Abyss' fate and is playing her grieving mothers for fools. Starlight thinks he's just throwing accusations at a dear family friend and throws him out of the house. When he was genuinely telling the truth and trying to help, his record as a manipulative and untrustworthy stallion ended up ruining it.
  • Comic-Book Fantasy Casting: According to this post here, Laurence Fishburne would voice him (in a similar manner he voiced Thrax from Osmosis Jones.)
  • Cool Big Bro: He used to act as one for Rosemary when they were little, but eventually his jealousy over her having loving parents and a stable home caused him to deliberately distance himself from her.
  • The Drifter: He travels a lot, in part because moving around while bumming off of others is easier than having to contemplate whether he's actually happy with his choices and his manipulative lifestyle.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: It's implied that his relationship with Nocturnus (the bat pony guard whom he ends up dating) helps him becoming a better stallion, especially when looking after his daughter Primrose. He gains a healthier understanding of people and at least is on the road of mending ties with Zephyr while also undergoing a Jerkass Realization. Lopoddity also confirms he does reconcile his friendship with Midnight.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Downplayed. Due to Chakra's childhood, he has a difficult time trusting other ponies. This ties into his manipulative nature and potential self-loathing. To him, he doesn't understand why someone would befriend him, if not for some ulterior motive?
    • This is particularly strong with his stepcousin Featherweight, who has an obvious crush on Chakra. Chakra has no idea how to deal with Featherweight's genuine friendliness and it unnerves and confuses him, though it seems like Featherweight isn't entirely respectful of the fact Chakra Hates Being Touched.
  • Freudian Excuse: Virtually all of (if not most of) his Jerkass nature can be blamed on Tree Hugger and Zephyr Breeze being crap parents. Zephyr didn't ever really try raising him, thinking that having a kid would "cramp his style", while Tree Hugger was very neglectful to say the least, sometimes even leaving him home alone while she went off to retreats. The only parental figure he had was Fluttershy, and even then, she wasn't around enough. Tragically, it's unsurprising why he became the stallion he is today, he didn't have anyone else to teach him better and one could trace his manipulative actions to this. He's trying to get what he thinks he wants, but he really can't and appears to have massive issues with getting close to anyone.
    • The only reason he didn't end up worse was because of Fluttershy babysitting him. He genuinely Used to Be a Sweet Kid and he helped around the house to repay the kindness and even babysat Rosemary when she was a baby. It's why she's the only pony he is openly and genuinely kind to. However, one wonders why Fluttershy didn't just simply adopt her nephew if she had concerns on how he was being raised (though it's possibly she was unaware of how bad it was.)
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: He's widely disliked by most who've gotten a chance to really know him. Even his cousin Rosemary finds him annoying.
  • Good with Numbers: Chakra has a surprising amount of skill with math and Lop has stated that if things were different, he might have become an accountant to spite his parents instead of making a mockery of Tree Hugger's way of life.
    • His dream of becoming an accountant was around since he was a schoolcolt though it was because he wanted to rather than as an attempt to spite his folks (not that it would've worked, Tree Hugger was still happy for her son when he became an accountant.)
  • Has a Type: He apparently likes dominant, authority figures who don't put up with his crap. Given his background and how he was raised, makes a surprising amount of sense.
  • Hates Being Touched: As Word of Lop puts it: "Sexual contact with other ponies is fine, but true intimacy, such as Auntie Fluttershy hugging him, or Uncle Bulk giving him a pat on the shoulder, makes Chakra tense up immediately and try to get away. He doesn’t like letting ponies get too close." He does, however, seem to make an exception for Midnight.
    • This ties into his fear of getting emotionally close anypony and his inability to comprehend good intentions.
  • Hidden Depths: Beneath the charming hippie act, he's a selfish, manipulative jerk. Beneath that, he's a deeply cynical and lonely pony who leads a drifting lifestyle to avoid having to contemplate the state of his life and his decisions while possibly being mentally stunted in growth. He also is scared of letting people in emotionally close It's telling the only pony he is openly and genuinely nice with is his Aunt Fluttershy, the closest thing he had to a real parent and the only pony shown to openly cares about his well-being. It's subtly implied that he is on good terms with Uncle Bulk Biceps, though if not as close as to Fluttershy. He is also shown to be amicable with his stepcousin Featherweight (though unnerved by the latter's attempts at befriending him to Chakra's serious issues. )
  • Hidden Heart of Gold: He's not a irredeemable louse; he treats his Auntie Fluttershy with genuine affection, and she's the only pony he is honest and open with. This is pretty much due to her being the only real parental figure he had and, in his mind, probably the only pony who really cares about him.
    • He is also shown to be amicable with other members of the family, namely Featherweight (though his attraction and friendly gestures unnerve Chakra, due to Chakra's serious trust issues) and subtly implied with Bulk Biceps, his uncle.
    • He also truly valued his friendship with Midnight and even when they're completely estranged, refuses to believe Moondancer's lies about how she turned into a statue. The same incident proved that he's a damn good judge of character, figuring out Moondancer's role in Midnight's misfortunes when even Twilight, Starlight and Sunset are totally bamboozled simply because he trusts that if Midnight didn't like Moondancer, she had a good reason not to.
  • Hypocrite: He preaches about free love and no responsibility and other New Age tenets, not so much out of genuine conviction as because they’re a convenient excuse not to do any work himself and to make himself appear wise and enlightened, which makes it easier to manipulate other ponies so as to mooch off of them.
    • This two-faced approach to this becomes more interesting when one sees the very shaky relationship he has with his parents. He seems to deep down detest these sort of principles and beliefs because he has come to associate them with his parents (or at least his mother), both of whom were very neglectful parents. His entire facade is implied to be one massive spite-filled Take That! to his mother's lifestyle, due to living with the consequences of it.
  • Informed Flaw: His manipulativeness - thus far, we have only seen him successfully manipulating Aerostorm, every single other character has called him out on it.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Though he was mostly saying it to drive a wedge between Aerostorm and Rosemary because he could, he does have a point when he says that Rosie doesn't trust Aerostorm's judgment and thinks of him as a sweet, naïve idiot she needs to protect. Rosie isn't wrong for thinking this, but Stormy is clearly hurt that his best friend also thinks of him as stupid, even if it's with the best intentions. Chakra also points out how childish Aerostorm and Rosemary are when they're together, as they still keep dream journals, have tea parties and watch "Sailor Mare" well into their teens.
  • Manipulative Bastard: To other ponies, he puts on the appearance of a friendly, easygoing mystic, speaking in hippie slang and talking about inner peace and freedom from responsibility. This, together with his charismatic, flirty personality and talent for soothing others through music, makes it easy for others to trust him. This is all a front. Beneath the act and the empty philosophy, he’s self-centered, vain and manipulative, using his ability to make others trust him in order to manipulate them into doing things for him and letting him mooch off of them.
    • This ties him into several of his flaws. He cannot understand ponies not being genuinely friendly outside of the purposes of manipulating others and this inability to trust others causes a vicious cycle.
    • Though beneath his manipulative side, he's a seriously screwed-up stallion who has no idea what he wants or how to get it and seems to be aware on some level his manipulation will get him no well.
  • The Nicknamer: He likes to give people nicknames - Aerostorm was "Daydreamer", Midnight Abyss is "Nighty" and he tried calling Cupcake "Cake-Pop" but she shut him down pretty quickly. He also gives Rosie various nicknames referring to the fact she was fat as a pre-teen.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: Zephyr ends up meeting his son as a young adult and understandably, Chakra ain't happy to see him. During their conversation, Zephyr pretty much sums one of Chakra's fatal flaws very well, because it's the same one Zephyr had:
Zephyr Breeze: "In the end, your mom didn't know why you decided to run away, but I did. You run away from your problems...just like me."
  • Parental Neglect: Hoo boy, is he a big victim of this. All of his negative traits and issues stem from suffering from this, directly or otherwise. Tree Hugger and Zephyr Breeze may have loved their son, but they were not competent parents at all and left their son very screwed up. Zephyr wasn’t terribly involved in his son’s life — he felt parenting “cramped his style” (only visiting his son on occasional weekends and only doing things that interested him no matter how Chakra begged for other things)– and Tree Hugger was a very irresponsible mother, sometimes simply leaving him at home alone while she went to hippie retreats. Chakra was raised by his Aunt Fluttershy as much as by either of them; while she was a capable parent, she was not around enough to fill the void or correct the deeply-ingrained problems that would lead to his growing Jerkass tendencies.
    • Chakra understandably holds an intense disdain toward his parents for this, often even referring to them by name rather than as Mom and Dad. Tree Hugger isn't affected by this and seems unaware of how her son has ended up (she ends up finding out as seen below). Surprisingly enough, Zephyr Breeze actually does seem a bit hurt by this and he later realizes that he screwed up big time, but by that point, it was too late and Chakra made it clear he didn't want anything to do with them.
  • Shadow Archetype: According to Lopoddity, he's supposed to be something like this for Stormy and Rosemary.
  • Sour Outside, Sad Inside: Underneath the second facade of being a large jerk who take advantage of people is a very sad, lonely and messed up stallion. He has severe issues with emotional intimacy, he has screwed up relations with his parents, has driven away two ponies formerly very close to him (Aerostorm as his ex and Midnight/Morning as his Only Friend), his formerly close relationship with Rosemary collapsed when he became a jerk and they are on strained relationships and overall he is a colossal mess underneath both his layers.
    • One example is where he meets up with Zephyr once more as a young adult. During their conversation, Zephyr apologizes for everything and the entire thing clearly rattles Chakra on an emotional level. When the filly he is caring for asks him if he misses his dad, Zephyr tearfully confesses he does, showing that beneath the cynicism and manipulative streak, there's a part of him that remains the young colt who just wanted to be with his dad.
    • In the same picture, Lop sums up Chakra pretty well:
"Chakra is a sad bastard and just wants his parents to care about him."
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: At a certain point as a young stallion, he ends up visiting Fluttershy the same time Tree Hugger is there. His attempts to leave are interrupted by her unwanted displays of affections and he finally unleashes all of his pent-up rage at Tree Hugger with a brutal, but admittedly deserved speech for her selfishness and chronic neglect of him as a kid. Turns out to be so devastating that it smashes Tree Hugger's spacey exterior and she breaks down crying into Fluttershy with the realization she screwed up badly.
    • At another point, he gives a calmer one to his father, Zephyr Breeze. Unlike with Tree Hugger though, Zephyr did understand his son's animosity and he realized he screwed up a lot sooner. Furthermore, Zephyr sincerely apologises to his son and says while he would like to try and mend their relationship, he understands if Chakra doesn't. Zephyr's tender and genuine apology moves Chakra.
    • Receives one here from a distraught Starlight and Sunset who claim that he corrupted their daughter. He fires back a short one about how he thinks he might have known their daughter better than they do...at which point they kick him out of the house.
  • The Resenter: Downplayed example, but it seems some part of him resents his cousin Rosemary on how she got to be raised by a caring and responsible mother like Fluttershy while he ended up with Tree Hugger, who, while she did love him, was a very neglectful mother to say the least, not to mention the comparisons between Bulk Biceps and Zephyr Breeze.
    • A huge one to his parents too, particularly Tree Hugger. Lopoddity stated she would be devastated were she ever to learn her only child despised her (which ended up happening when Chakra finally gave a massive "Reason You Suck" Speech onto her.). Zephyr Breeze seems to be more aware of how he screwed up.
  • The Rival: He has something of a rivalry with his cousin Rosemary, who is one of the few ponies who can reliably see through his charming hippie act.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: He was a very sweet foal in his youth, happily babysitting his cousin Rosemary and helping Fluttershy around the house to thank her for her care. Back as a schoolcolt, he was a dorky student who loved math and wanted to be an accountant, even befriending Morning Glory/Midnight Abyss.
    • Unfortunately, Fluttershy was not around enough to fully balance his life and wholly properly parent him so Chakra ended up becoming a very screwed up stallion, but with some good parts still within.
  • We Used to Be Friends: With Midnight Abyss, whom he used to be in a band with when the two of them were in school. However, his crap treatment of Aerostorm during their relationship disgusts Midnight to where she realizes how much of a jerk he's become and dropped their friendship.
    • Also with his cousin Rosemary back as children. He took care of her and it was implied he acted like a surrogate big brother. However, his Took a Level in Jerkass during his teenage years and growing resentment led to their embittered and strained relationship we see today.

Vogue — daughter of Fleur-de-Lis and Prince Blueblood
Fleur-de-Lis and Fancy Pants are a Happily Married couple in the Pandoraverse. At the time of Vogue's conception, Fleur revealed to Fancy Pants she had an affair with Prince Blueblood. Despite this, the couple worked things out and Fancy Pants raised Vogue as his own daughter.

  • Awful Truth: As a pre-teen, Vogue demands to know why Prince Blueblood knows so much about her and has made her his sole inheritor of his wealth and estate. She doesn't take his Luke, I Am Your Father moment well at all.
  • The Beautiful Elite: Like her mother, Vogue is considered very pretty and quite a few members of the cast have expressed an interest in her.
  • Gratuitous French: In her one line of dialogue, she exclaims "Merde, that's going to bother me all day!" when she passes Moondancer in the street.
  • Happily Adopted: She is not Fancy Pants' biological daughter, but she views him as more of a father figure than her actual one.
  • Heroic Bastard: Unlike the other illegitimate children in the 'Verse, Vogue is described as a kind, headstrong mare who regularly does charity work.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: Her best friend is Frenzied Beats.
  • Long Lost Sibling: She's actually Moondancer's half-sister, though neither of them are aware of it, mostly as he did not know who his father was until recently in the Pandoraverse timeline.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Vogue's rejection of Blueblood as her father is stated to be why Blueblood was so harsh to Moondancer. Downplayed though in that Blueblood probably would have been awful regardless.
  • Not Helping Your Case: She complains that Blueblood treats her like a child, but when he actually does tell her the Awful Truth, her immediate reaction is to burst into tears and go running off to Fancy Pants.
  • Odd Friendship: She's a mare who loves dancing, ballet, fashion, charity work, and reading. Her best friend loves hip-hop, beatboxing, rapping and she's a very wild and out there mare. Despite this, Vogue and Zee are besties.
  • Parental Favouritism: A complex case, but Prince Blueblood actively maintains a relationship with Vogue, (albeit an awkward, distant one) while he refused contact with Moondancer. While the initial reason seems to be because of class (Fleur is a noble and a model while Trixie is a civilian magician), awareness and timing also played a large part. Blueblood knew pretty much from the start about Vogue and he didn't find out about Moondancer until Moondancer was already a full-grown stallion. Blueblood rebuffed Moondancer due to the political scandals; also why Fleur never calls him Father (outside of her considering Fancy Pants her dad). The timing is reinforced when Lop presented an alternate scenario which revealed Blueblood raising Moondancer, presumably by himself (implied due to becoming aware much earlier on.)
  • Shared Family Quirks: According to Lop, she has her mother's love of fashion and her half-brother's temper.
  • You're Not My Father: When Blueblood reveals their relationship, Vogue whimpers "I want my daddy..." and runs off to find Fancy Pants while sobbing.

Butch — Deceased. Bruce's older brother
Before Bruce was born, there was another. Butch was the firstborn son of Captain Cutthroat and Fey Ocean. He was everything Cutthroat wanted in his son, but after death by drowning, the fragile marriage crumbled. As Lopoddity put it: "His death left Cutthroat ruined, and he channeled his grief into rage and cruelty, typically directed at his younger son Bruce, who could never measure up to perfect Butch. His mother Fey blamed herself for Butch’s death (he drowned on her watch), and grew more depressed and neglectful every day. So Bruce lived out his childhood in the shadow of a dead brother he never knew existed."

  • The Ace: In Lopoddity's own words: "Butch was everything his father, Cutthroat, could have ever wanted. Tough, smart, assertive, an excellent fisherpony, the perfect young colt."
  • Cool Big Bro: Downplayed example. Loppodity provided an alternate scenario where Butch lived; he is a somewhat decent older brother to Bruce who just lacks understanding of Bruce's tender side. While he does care about Bruce and gives him advice, he takes a lot after his dad and so is a traditionally very masculine stallion while not understanding why his younger brother would feel guilty about their fishing practices. He does mean well, but his attempts at helping Bruce... aren't always the best.
  • Manly Gay: Despite being the traditional masculine figure, he is attracted to stallions, as the AU where he ends up survivng has him be attracted to Moondancer (who's an exotic dancer who flirts with him.)
  • Parental Favoritism: His dad saw him as the best son and treated Bruce so harshly and with disdain since he felt Bruce would never match to Butch. However, since Butch died before Bruce was born, Bruce is unaware of this.
  • Posthumous Character: He died before Bruce was even born.

Nocturnus, Father Of Primrose, Eventual lover of Chakra Blossom. Trusted lieutenant to Artemis

Nocturnus is the de facto leader of the guard trio, and Artemis' trusted lieutenant. Noct is a brave, loyal, dependable, and quite a commanding presence-but not without a tendency toward playfulness and snark. He's the smallest pony in the group, but the best at any assignments involving stealth or combat-Noct is a pretty skilled fighter for a dude missing a significant chunk of depth perception. Noct likes midnight flights and lurking about in sketchy pubs....and also trading glitter stickers with his school-aged daughter, Primrose. Nocturnus lost his eye in an aerial skirmish with a griffin. His late wife, Willow, was a fellow Lunar Guard and his dearest friend, before she was tragically killed on a peace mission not long after the birth of their daughter. Noct is still grieving her and blames himself for her death.

He was first seen in a picture with Artemis; Artemis used their powers to figure out what bothered Nocturnus (the potential death of his ill daughter) before instructing them on how to save her life. He eventually ends up in a complicated relationship with Chakra Blossom.

  • Breakout Character: Started out as a small character in an Artemis pic before evolving to become a supporting character, namely being a stabilizing presence in Chakra's life.
  • Eye Scream: Lost his eye in a fight with a griffon. While he was recovering he met Willow, his future wife and Primrose's late mother.
  • Papa Wolf: Fiercely devoted to and protective of his daughter.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: He's actually pretty short but still the leader of his squadron and able to cow the much bigger Chakra Blossom.

     Primrose, Daughter of Nocturnus

The daughter of Nocturnus, she is a cute little filly who is her daddy's pride and joy. She is a disabled Pegasi and Artemis ended up saving her life thanks to their medical knowledge.

  • Art Evolution: She originally had a beige coat and a light blue mane and tail, she was recolored to an off-white coat and a pink mane and tail when she became an official Pandoraverse character to make her look more distinct.
  • Children Raise You: Being more or less her second dad has helped Chakra deal with his myriad of issues and becoming a better stallion as a result.
  • Morality Pet: To Chakra Blossom. Taking care of her has made Chakra Blossom into a better person and he is very fond of her.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: Intentionally invoked with her redesign, she's generally cheery and innocent.
  • Sweet Tooth: Gobbles fruit like nobody's business and never misses a chance to get ice cream. She is part bat.

Frenzied Beats—daughter of Sapphire Shores and Hayseed Turnip (via sperm donor). adopted daughter of Countess Coloratura
Frenzy was conceived when renown singer-songwriter Sapphire Shores wished to make a fabulous heir with her wife, Countess Coloratura. It would appear that Frenzy's anonymous father passed on a bit of donkey blood and the musical duo were quite surprised (and smitten), when their tiny, newborn, long-eared baby was placed in Mama Sapphire's arms.

Clever, sassy, and perceptive, Zee's self-confidence is very rarely shaken. She is a very talented mare, and she knows it, often acknowledging compliments made to her with a playful "Oh, I know, baby". Her personality and voice is often too loud and flavorful for her fellow wealthy Canterlot elites, but Zee pays them no mind and maintains quite a large fanbase, even while the stuffy aristocrats complain about her often explicit lyrics and dancing. Sometimes though, on the way to snatch one of their children out of Zee's concerts, the snobs will find themselves getting caught in Zee's flow and losing themselves dancing, which Zee smugly counts a victory.

  • Cool Big Sis: Ends up becoming this to her bunch of little half-siblings.
  • Friend to All Children: She adores spending time with children and also does her best to not swear around them. She has a good time meeting her half-siblings.
  • The Gadfly: She loves to tease the stuffy upper class people and messing with them. Exaggerated with Moondancer.
  • Hartman Hips: In anthro and presumably human verses, Zee's got a pretty sweet rear, which she considers one of her best features.
  • Hidden Depths: While most of her music is based on hip-hop, beatboxing, rapping and the associated, she is somewhat capable of playing the clarinet.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Vogue, her best friend.
  • Irony: Despite being a loud and bombastic mare, she becomes shy and sheepish when she meets her biological father, Hayseed Turnip, his wife Ms. Peachbottom and their kids (her half-siblings) who are all so dang excited to meet her.
    • Zee loves flustering Moondancer but when he gets drunk in an AU where they're a couple and flirts with her by crassly admiring her rear end, she's a blushing and stuttering mess.
    • Despite initially having no interest in meeting her bio dad, Frenzy met him back when she was just a filly, playfully commenting on his large teeth. She would end up getting some prominent teeth herself when she grew, likely from him.
  • Lady Swearsalot: She has explicit themes and words in her songs often and Word Of Lop explicitly says she has a potty mouth. However, she does hold back in the language in front of children.
  • Nice Gal: Yes she may be sassy and a tease, but she is actually a very nice mare.
  • Odd Friendship: This sassy, bombastic and wild-styled mare is BF Fs with Vogue, an upperclass mare who enjoys dancing, ballet, fashion, charity work, and reading. It helps that despite their different interests, they're both headstrong and kind mares.
  • The Tease: Very much so to Moondancer. She is definitely finds him handsome and likes to make him flustered. Her first encounter with him inspired her to make a song about him, with her usual levels of explicit themes and lyrics that embarrass Moondancer to no end. Each time they run into one another, she always winks at him, which causes the unicorn to lose his composure.
    • Is even worse in the AU where they're a couple.
  • Uneven Hybrid: Apparently, the father (revealed to be Hayseed) possessed mild amounts of donkey lineage that he passed to his daughter. While she's not a mule (and presumably the father isn't either), Zee does possess some donkey traits as a result such as her notably long ears. Her slight buck teeth (reminiscent of Timmy Turner's) is another thing that could be attributed.

Montezuma, son of Ahuizotl and the Sphinx. Adopted son of Daring Do and Dr. Caballeron
Like his father before him, Montezuma is a temple guardian. He is also a master thief, a supervillain, and Smokescreen's greatest, most dangerous enemy.

  • Happily Adopted: Subverted. He was adopted by Daring Do and Dr. Caballeron when he was a toddler. While they did give him toys and boks, but he was isolated a lot without many friends, and used a lot for showing off to wealthy ponies and zoologists. Later as a teen he ran away from home to find Ahuizotl.
  • Revenge: After learning more about why he was adopted, thinking about how his adopted parents can steal things without consequences, he starts stealing back artifacts and treasures from museums.

Next Next Gen—the next generation of Lopoddity's Original Characters, children and more.

     Oddball—son of Pandora and Cupcake
Cupcake's and Pandora's draconequus son, conceived when Pandora woke up one day with a basketball-sized egg in her bed. He's a very sweet and good-natured kid, if a tad Literal-Minded and socially awkward.

  • Cuddle Bug: Not one of his more prominent traits but he has been shown to be comforted by hugs and requests them when upset.
  • Good with Numbers: Ends up using his draconequus magic to do math, among other mundane things.
  • Hates Baths: The first time his moms tried to bathe him, he screamed loudly enough that they went into overprotective mode until they determined he wasn't injured and the bath was just right and after that, spent the entire bath giving them a betrayed look. He never outgrows this disliking of baths though he eventually gains the ability to force himself to go through with it due to having a cat-like tendency towards cleanliness but he's always miserable whenever he has to bathe.
  • He Is All Grown Up: He becomes pretty handsome (and ripped) when he reaches adulthood.
  • Like Parent, Like Child: Inherited Pandora's tendency to hide loved ones who have been injured and cover them with a blanket.
  • Literal-Minded. Doesn't really get jokes or sarcasm.
  • Momma's Boy: With Cupcake and to a lesser extent, Pandora.
  • No Social Skills: Doesn't really get social cues. For instance, when a filly told him she had a crush on him, his reply was "...Oh, um, that's nice." He never quite understood why she ran off crying.
    • He also once ruined Bruce's enjoyment of his favorite sport by speculating said enjoyment came from homoerotic tendencies and was completely unaware of just how upset Bruce was or why.
    • Has been shown to misinterpret romantic cues such as Truffles blushing when he takes off his shirt and Finn blatantly flirting with him going over his head until Finn bluntly requests a kiss.
  • Oblivious to Love: As an adult, he's oblivious to the fact that Truffles has a crush on him. Also, see No Social Skills above.
  • Odd Friendship: Has one with Wave Rider, bonding over her tendency to ramble about her passion about any and everything and his ability to just sit and listen to her do so.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: Adores wearing Cupcake's pink bow and nothing will convince him to stop.

Wave Rider—daughter of Bruce and Aerostorm
Bruce and Aero's adventurous surfer daughter.

  • Awesome Aussie: Despite not technically being from Oatstralia, she gets enough cultural mannerisms from her dad, who is (chiefly her accent and attitude), to fit; apparently, wrestling a crocodile was a foalhood dream of hers. As a grown mare, she surfs in hurricane weather and studies dangerous beasts.
  • Big Eater: Comes with the high level of activity she does but apparently she traumatized a fast food worker during an "All-You-Can-Eat Oatburgers" Special.
  • Cool Big Sis: Though only older by 5 years, served as one for Oddball in their younger years, babysitting him and protecting him from bullies.
  • Generation Xerox: Personality-wise, she's very reminiscent of her grandmother, Rainbow Dash.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: When her younger brother Finn was born, Wave was very jealous of him and felt threatened at all the attention he was getting from Aerostorm and Bruce.
  • Hard-Drinking Party Girl: Can drink a stallion twice her size under the table.
  • Irony: Wave is Bruce's daughter and Oddball is Pandora's son. While their parents were at one another's throats, they're besties. Granted, Aerostorm is a close friend of Pandora's and Cupcake seems civil enough toward Bruce (they even marry in an Alternate Timeline), so it evens out.
  • Love at First Sight: One fateful day at the beach, Wave Rider notices a unicorn with glasses studying sea turtles. And thus the rough mare fell into a dorky state of love with Marina.
  • Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: Masculine Girl to both Oddball and Finn's Feminine Boys.
  • Odd Friendship: Has one with Oddball, bonding over her tendency to ramble about her passion about any and everything and his ability to just sit and listen to her do so.

     Finn—son of Bruce and Aerostorm
Bruce and Aero's son and Wave's younger brother. Was thought to be an Earth Pony until Lop explained that technically he is a Pegasus, but he doesn't have wings.

  • In the Blood: Like his aunt Cloudburst, he also has a birth defect affecting his wings - in Finn's case, they never grew at all. It's unknown if it's Rainbow Dash or Dumbbell that carries this gene.
  • Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: He's the Feminine Boy to his sister Wave Rider's Masculine Girl.
  • Mellow Fellow: Lopoddity notes he's a lot more chill than his big sister, taking after Aerostorm.
  • Wholesome Crossdresser: Regularly raids his sister's closet because he thinks that girls got all the good clothes and loves wearing skirts and feminine shoes.

     Marina
A unicorn who studies sea turtles. Is the target of Wave Rider's affections.

Gidget—adopted daughter of Bruce and Aerostorm
An orphaned, homeless griffin child who Stormy finds while on a field trip. After finding out that she's a ward of the state, Bruce decides to foster her, and eventually he and Stormy adopt her into their family.

  • Cheerful Child: She's a very sweet and happy little girl, even happier when she gets adopted.
  • Motor Mouth: She tends to talk a LOT, sometimes not even stopping to breathe.
  • No Indoor Voice: Lopoddity describes her as LOUD.

The Alternate Children—next-gen and next-next gen children who exist in alternate universes or who were just Retconned out.

Snickerdoodle—daughter of Paradox (Rule 63 Pandora) and Beefcake (Rule 63 Cupcake)
The technical genderbent counterpart to Oddball—their respective universes are Rule 63 versions of each other, but genetically they're regular siblings—she gets along with her counterpart, but is more confident. Also has a fascination with unicorns.

  • Collector of the Strange: Anything unicorn related. Unicorn plushies, unicorn figurines, a whole wall of photos of unicorns spotted around town. This is especially strange since unicorns make up one-third of the entire population.
  • Daddy's Girl: A double dose of this with both of her fathers but tends to get her relationship with Beefcake showcased more.
  • Hidden Depths: Actually does have some deeply philosophical thoughts about the fact that despite the fact that logic dictates that she and Oddball are counterparts, they're completely different ponies.
  • The Unsmile: One that's far too broad, with too many teeth, and that shows far more gums than necessary.

     Wisteria—daughter of Spike and Rarity
An early next gen character and a Sparity kid. Wisteria is a little... out there. She's perfectly kind, serene, and of course, generous, but she's also a bit bubble-headed and has a habit of saying strange non-sequiturs. While other ponies will run from a wildfire, Wisteria will happily walk about, commenting on how pretty the flames are. Kind of a ditz, our Wisty. But well-meaning.

Jasper—daughter of Spike and Scootaloo, Pandora's "niece"
A fiery and high-spirited dracony, Jasper is a skilled daredevil, performing complex aerial stunts thanks to her powerful, well-developed wings, and lives for the roar of the crowd. A favorite trick of hers consists of covering herself with flammable liquid and setting herself alight with her fire breath, usually while performing some sort of barrel roll, high-velocity dive, or other dangerous stunt. Scootaloo thinks this is awesome, while Spike is... less enthused. Outside of air shows, she tackles life with fire and passion, throwing herself fully into everything she does, whether it be adventure or day-to-day chores. Due to various reasons, chiefly Lopoddity coming to prefer a ship that was incompatible with a Spike/Scootaloo pairing, Jasper has been retconned out.

  • Breath Weapon: Being half-dragon, she can breathe fire.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: Half dragon, half Pegasus pony.
  • Incendiary Exponent: A favorite trick of hers at air shows consists of covering herself in a flammable liquid and setting herself on fire (being half-dragon, she's effectively fireproof).
  • Out of Focus: We don't see much of her or her relationships to the others beyond Ember and Pandora. This eventually culminated in her official retconning.
  • Playing with Fire: Being a half dragon and somewhat Hot-Blooded besides, Jasper frequently falls into this trope along with Ember.
  • Pseudo-Romantic Friendship: Jasper with Ember before the Retcon; they were very close best friends, but they also hit on each other a lot and were occasionally Friends with Benefits. Despite this, they also acted as each other's wingmares when picking up dates.
  • Retcon: Confirmed here. It has been hinted at a for long while (especially with the reveal of Lopoddity gushing over the shipping of Spike and Thorax).

Misty and Ember—twin daughters of Rainbow Dash and Dumbbell, younger sisters of Aerostorm
Rainbow's youngest children and Aerostorm's younger sisters, these twins are a different as night and day, with Ember being wild and reckless, while Misty is more rational and level-headed. Despite butting heads a lot, the twins are very close, with Misty regularly bailing Ember out of trouble and Ember making sure nobody picks on her sister.

     Thunderhead—son of Pandora and Aerostorm
The child of Pandora and Aerostorm, Thunderhead enjoys consuming his body weight in pizza and sleeping on clouds and wrestling dad and snuggling with his mama. As an adult, he is described as the King of Air.

  • Big Eater: Can apparently eat half his body weight in pizza, presumably in a single sitting, though this may apply more to when he was younger.
  • Panthera Awesome: Fitting his mother's cat motif, he very much resembles a lion cub as a foal. As a full grown stallion, he has plenty of lionesque features, including the wild mane of hair.
  • Orphan's Ordeal: Both his parents eventually die in accidents.
  • Nice Guy: He's a very nice and pleasant stallion, much like his father. However, he has inherited his mother's mischievous streak.
  • Technicolor Eyes: Explicitly shown and stated here to have rainbow-colored eyes.
  • Troll: He apparently enjoys screwing around with Mako, his angsty alternate-timeline half-brother. He probably got it from Momma Panny and Grandpa Discord.
  • Weather Manipulation: Like Mako, below, he has power over storms, except he's much more powerful (probably because of his Pegasi blood). His epithet is the The King of Air.

Mascarpone—daughter of Pandora and Peanut Butter Sandwich
The child of Pandora and Peanut Butter Sandwich. Their existence was first confirmed here and her gender confirmed here. Finally got some artwork here. Wily, energetic trickster, enjoys inverting gravity, stealing cookies, balloon animal art, and dimension hopping. Very stretchy, can contort long noodle body into impossible shapes and forms

  • The Ghost: For a long while, she didn't actually appear outside of a couple of comments. Subverted once some art of her was released along with some other 'crackship' next-next-gen children.
  • The Trickster: Described as such. Seems to have inherited her grandfather's sense of humor, but without the original cruel streak.

Storm Chaser—daughter of Zipperflash and Bruce
The child of Zipperflash and Bruce. Their existence has been confirmed here. Loudmouth, extreme flier, kind of a bully, likes chasing tornadoes, fire twisters, lightning storms, whatever crazy thing will give her the biggest thrill.

  • The Bully: Implied. Considering who her fathers are, it's not surprising.
  • In Harm's Way: Goes out of her way to chase dangerous weather phenomenons for the thrill of it, (much like her alternate universe half-sister, Wave Rider.)
  • Lady Looks Like a Dude: With the short mane-style and masculine jawline, it's not hard to mistake Storm Chaser for a stallion initially.
  • Shadow Archetype: Considering Zipperflash is Aerostorm's, one can consider Storm Chaser to be this to Wave Rider. Both are thrillseekers who cause trouble and stress for Bruce and are prone to being loud and rowdy. However, while Wave Rider is a nice mare and can often be mellow like her other dad, Storm Chaser is a lot meaner and haughty, like Zipps is.

Clear Skies—son of Princess Skyla and Aerostorm.
The child of Princess Skyla and Aerostorm. Their existence has been confirmed here. Fortunately not as neurotic as his mother, is a pretty chill fellow. Gifted with a beautiful singing voice, likes fashion, make-up, spa visits very much enjoys decadent life in the crystal empire.

  • The Dandy: Very fond of make-up, fashion and spa visits.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: He takes a lot after his mother in appearance and with his personality, one would think Clear Skies was female.
  • The Hedonist: A lighthearted example, Clear Skies very much enjoys a decadent lifestyle in the Crystal Empire.

Lovely Heart—son of Discord and Princess Cadence.
The son of Discord and Princess Cadence. Their existence was first seen here. He looks sweet but underneath is a sinister being who isn't afraid to bend the minds of ponies to get what he wants. Formerly named Love Poison.

  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He looks sweet and cuddly, but he's actually a sinister manipulator willing to bend and manipulate ponies to get what he wants.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: He looks very feminine. This is Lampshaded—his gender is the last thing mentioned in his first appearance, in an offhanded way after the reader has likely assumed he's a girl.
  • Hypnotic Gaze: One of his main ways of influencing ponies.
  • Manipulative Bitch: He manipulates other ponies into doing what he wants, either the old-fashioned way or simply with his soothing voice and hypnotic gaze.
  • Panthera Awesome: Like Thunderhead, he has a very leonine look to him. And that mane!
  • Purple Is Powerful: A powerful manipulator with a huge purple mane and tail to complement his abilities.
  • So Proud of You: Needless to say, Discord is very proud of him.

The Makoverse.

A subset in the Pandoraverse, this verse has a timeline where Bruce and Pandora have a son, Mako. Pandora leaves them when Mako is very young and Cupcake steps in to help raise the child. Cupcake and Bruce later fall in love and marry. Lopoddity describes this as a bad ending to the verse, considering some characters (like Aerostorm) end up dead.

Mako Storm—son of Pandora and Bruce
The draconequus son of Pandora and Bruce. Pandora left him when he was very young, which has left him with some rather extraordinary emotional issues. This, combined with a very cold and ruthless personality, means he is very dangerous, and best avoided.

  • Antagonistic Offspring: He is deeply resentful of his mother's abandonment of himself and his father, something that changed from original feelings of wistfulness to downright murderous detestation.
  • Big Brother Instinct: As emotionally damaged as he is, he adores his baby sister Fishcake.
  • Parental Abandonment: Pandora abandoned Mako and Bruce when Mako was young, which has left him with... issues.
  • Physical God: Comes with being a draconequus, although not to the level of his grandfather. He has great power over storms, which is heavily rooted in his emotions. Since he is almost never happy, this makes him essentially a living natural disaster.
  • Threatening Shark: His overall motif. Besides his name, his tail is shaped like a shark's, and his temperament fits.
  • Weather Manipulation: He has power over storms.

     Fishcake—daughter of Cupcake and Bruce
The daughter of Cupcake and Bruce after the two got together. She is pretty much like her parents and is not afraid of calling out her brother during his surlier (more than usual) moments.

  • Affectionate Nickname: Mako calls her "Fishie".
  • The Empath: Word of God states that Fishcake has the ability to sense what other ponies are feeling (likely related to her grandmother's "Pinkie Sense". At times, this is very overwhelming for her, and as such, she doesn't like to socialise much.
  • Morality Pet: She's one for Makostorm, being the only person he's genuinely nice to.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The stoic, sensible blue to Mako's angsty, temperamental red.

Pre-Gen—fanmade parents for the canon cast and OCs.

    Demeter—Deceased mother of Discord
Discord's deceased mother and one of the last leaders of the draconequii, a dwindling people during her time. She had powers over fertility and the harvest, which were stretched to their limits in trying to keep her people fed after famines, competition and war nearly wiped them out. This has been very taxing on her, which caring for her rambunctious new cub, Discord, hasn't exactly helped. That said, she does love her son, and is willing to attempt a possible alliance with the Alicorns if it means giving him a future.

  • Green Thumb: She had magic tied to fertility and agriculture, which she could use to make crops grow.
  • Meaningful Name: She's named after the Greek goddess of the harvest, matching her powers.
  • Missing Mom: She's long dead by the Pandoraverse's present day, and has been long enough that Discord only has faint memories of her.

Johnny Appleseed—Deceased only son of Granny Smith, Father of Big Mac, Applejack and Apple Bloom.
The only son of "Granny" Annie Smith. He leaves his home, Sweet Apple Acres, to find his fortune in Manehatten. He starts out as an honest musician, but tough times turn him into a conman, charming city ponies out of their money with nothing but his winning smile and a few choice, honey-glazed words. However he remains morally conflicted about this and grows more and more homesick. He ends up falling in love with Honeybell Orange and returning the money he charmed off her. They eventually get married and settle down at Sweet Apple Acres. Sadly deceased. His cutie mark is a bitten apple with seeds scattered about.

  • Con Man: His occupation when he first came to Manehattan, where he swindled ponies out of their bits with the aid of a winning smile, choice words, and his trusty Stetson, although it's worth noting he was never fully comfortable with this lifestyle.
  • Disappeared Dad: Word of God confirms that he is deceased.
  • Happily Married: To Honeybell Orange.
  • Hot Blooded Sideburns: As Word of God puts it: "He is the proud owner of the most bitchin' sideburns in all of Equestria."
  • Through His Stomach: One of the things that first drew him to his future wife, besides her sophisticated mannerisms, was her tendency to give him free food.

Honeybell Orange—Deceased sister of Aunt and Uncle Orange. Mother of Big Mac, Applejack and Apple Bloom.
A member of the esteemed Manehattenite Orange family, Honey, too, is bored with her day-to-day life. She is very intelligent and sweet, generous and genuine, characteristics the city doesn't exactly welcome. She speaks with that cute upper crust accent Applejack adopts in "The Cutie Mark Chronicles". She also hides an impatient streak a mile wide and is a bit of a snob. Johnny will eventually help her get over her fear of dirt and the uncouth, and she learns to revel in being an earth pony. Honey is generous, genuine, sweet, and far too savvy for Johnny to be able to trick. Johnny is smitten pretty much immediately. They eventually get married and settle down at Sweet Apple Acres. Her cutie mark is a jar of honey and an orange slice. Sadly deceased.

Ishmael Carcharodon "Captain Cutthroat"—father of Butch (deceased) and Bruce
  • Abusive Parents: He was outright emotionally abusive towards Bruce, calling him an overemotional sissy when Bruce was uncomfortable with his father's violent behavior towards sea animals and not making any effort to mask his disdain for his son.
    • His own dad, Morgan Maelstrom was even worse, implied to have killed their mother and forced them into a life of piracy with all that it entails.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: His mother was a former criminal who got out of the life from stealing from her ex-lover while pregnant with their children. They had a happy life until Morgan came back and things went to hell fast.
  • Everyone Has Standards: He was a crappy parent who emotionally abused his son, but he never actually physically abused him.
  • Freudian Excuse: This miserable stallion was once a happy colt who lived by the sea with his mom and his baby brother... only for his father to come back (turns out his mother had stolen from him and left him.) Days later, only he'd come back and he would make his boys into his accomplices as a pirate. Worse still, it's heavily implied Ishmael did something drastic to save his younger brother after his dad bet him against a rival captain. Little wonder why he's so screwed up.
  • High-School Sweethearts: Surprisingly enough, he was this back when he was with Fey Ocean. He did genuinely love and care about her. Unfortunately, she was more In Love with Love and it's likely that is what led to problems way down the line.
  • Jerkass: Abusive towards his son, disdainful of his wife's alcoholism and distress over their first son's death, cruel to animals... overall, not exactly a lovable guy.
  • Karmic Death: His rampant alcoholism, stress levels, and bad eating habits catch up to him and he dies of a heart attack, a fitting end to the abusive jackass that he was.
  • Parental Favoritism: He saw Butch as a perfect son and treated Bruce harshly and with disdain, since he felt Bruce would never measure up to Butch.
    • Still present if Butch lived, but not as bad as he was in the main timeline.
  • A Real Man Is a Killer: If Butch hadn't died, he still would have disliked Bruce for being skittish when it came to killing marine life, as he believes that that's not what a "real" stallion is.
    • At least with marine life. Given how Ishamel more or less killed his abusive criminal as a father as a kid to save his younger brother, it's likely it doesn't apply to sentinent beings.
  • It Runs in the Family: Apparently, fishing has been a staple for the Carcharodon family, which is why he insists on remaining in the business despite it not paying well and why he would try and make his sons follow in his footsteps.
    • S Omewhat subverted. Turns out Ishmael started the tradition with his younger brother, viewing it as a safe way of making a means compared to the criminals his parents were.
  • Patricide: After Morgan bet his younger brother to a rival captain in a card game, it's all but ouright stated Ishmael killed his dad to save his brother and get out of the life. It's implied the incident scarred him.
  • Pet the Dog: Lopoddity mentioned he has technically met his granddaughter Wave Rider once when she accidentally ran into him in the market when she snuck away from Bruce. Despite disapproving both of Bruce turning into a mare temporarily to conceive her and his son getting together with Stormy, Cutthroat still protected Wave from the thieves around them and lead her to safety.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Cutthroat was always apparently rough around the edges, but the decline of his marriage with Fey and the death of his first son utterly darkened him. In a tineline where Butch lived, he was still unpleasant, but not as such.

Fey Ocean—mother of Butch (deceased) and Bruce
  • Alcoholic Parent: She developed alcoholism after her first son's death, and it later prevented her from giving her second the care he needed.
  • December–December Romance: Fey was already a grandmother when she met the long widowed Nautilus.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: She's out of her wretched marriage when Cutthroat ends up dying and finally gets to patch things up with Bruce after everything that happened. Furthermore, she gets along greatly with Aerostorm and becomes a doting grandmother to her granddaughter. She even starts a new romantic relationship with a nicer stallion.
  • Expy: She bears a lot of resemblance to Miriam Pataki.
  • High-School Sweethearts: Surprisingly enough, she was this with Ishmael. However, it's a bit deconstructed since while his love was genuine, hers... wasn't per say.
    • In Love with Love: Her Fatal Flaw and why she got with Cutthroat. She loved the idea of being in love, but wasn't in love with Cutthroat himself. However, he did very much genuinely love her. This explains a bit of why their relationship fell apart.
  • Parental Neglect: She tried to be a good parent to Bruce, but her own issues prevented her from giving Bruce what he needed. Sometimes she just forgot to feed him.
    • In fact, the extent of her neglect is evident when seen in the AU where Butch lived. Bruce is noticeably larger and healthier-looking since his mother never turned to alcohol.
  • Second Love: After Cutthroat dies and she starts getting a better life, she finds love again in an older widowed stallion named Nautilus.
  • Teen Pregnancy: When she got pregnant with Butch, it was presumably this that had her stay with Cutthroat despite the declining relationship.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: After dealing with an abusive husband, the death of her oldest son and estrangement from her youngest, Fey finally gets a happy ending with Nautilus, patches things with Bruce and is a doting grandmother to Wave Rider.

Daedalus Ravenwing — Deceased Father of Artemis
A hippogriff (as in pony and griffin hybrid) sorcerer who was close friends with Luna and ended up fathering Artemis. Unfortunately, he suddenly fell ill and ended up dying before they were born. As revealed by Artemis' full name, he is from House Ravenwing. More info on him here.
  • Altar Diplomacy: Daedalus and Luna considered this for convienence and political reasons once Luna learned she was pregnant. Unfortunately, it never came to pass.
  • Cool Old Guy: An older hippogriff, he was quite the friendly and caring fellow and through the letters he left for Artemis, Artemis learns what a good man their father was.
  • Dead Man Writing: He wrote many letters while he was ill to Artemis, including one for every birthday. Each one usually leaves Artemis in quiet tears.
  • Disappeared Dad: He died before Artemis was born.
  • The Owl-Knowing One: Despite being half-griffin (and therefore, quarter eagle), he actually looks quite owl-like. It certainly fits his career as a sorcerer, philosopher and astronomer while also giving a greater connection to his friend/lover, Princess Luna.

Nautilus — Boyfriend of Fey Ocean
  • Cool Old Guy: He's a chill, kindly old stallion who protects the ocean and gets along with Fey's family; Bruce didn't like him at first, mostly due to being overprotective toward his mom, but he does warm up to him while Wave Rider considered him her grandfather as soon as she met him.
  • December–December Romance: He and Fey met in their later years, when the latter's son was fully grown and having foals of his own.
  • Foil: He's this to Fey's deceased husband, Cutthroat. Whereas Cutthroat was a Jerkass fishercolt who was both cruel to animals and his family, Nautilus is a kind, gentle stallion who is very protective of the ocean and its inhabitants.
  • Happily Married: He and his wife Seashell were this before she succumbed to an unknown illness.
  • Parental Substitute: "Grandparental Substitute" in Wave Rider's case, as she considers Nautilus her grandfather. Helps that she only met her biological grandfather once and is long dead by this point.
  • Second Love: After losing Seashell and going through a long period of mourning, he does find love again with Fey.
  • The Mourning After: He was extremely miserable after his wife's death, and spent years grieving. He does eventually manage to move on and find love again with Fey.
