The E-Boy
All-Stars
Voiced by: James Box (Spanish), Brandon Belc (English)
Label: The E-Boy
Team: Orange Team (S2), Cyan Team (AS)
Placement: 3rd (S2), TBD (AS)
Eliminated in: Episode 13 (S2), TBD (AS)

Aiden is a really sweet and noble boy, who has always been quite mature for his age. He is generally good at reading people and analyzing their behavior. He is an introvert and usually doesn't make friends on his own, instead waiting until others approach him first.

  • Abandoned Catchphrase: During Season 2, Aiden would shout "What's wrong with you?!" whenever somebody did something that upset him. Come All-Stars, he has yet to utter the phrase even after going through several particularly upsetting moments.
  • All Gays Love Theater: In Episode 6 of All Stars, Aiden is enthusiastic about that episode's challenge (putting together and performing a musical number) and mentions that he was into theatre when he was in high school and that he unsuccessfully tried to start an acting career. He also happens to be a gay man.
  • Anti-Hero: Aiden is a relatively normal guy who has a fairly average sense of right and wrong, but he ends up doing some pretty questionable things as the game goes on, to the point where he sabotages Karol by putting the spider on Oliver's head, leading to her medical evacuation in Episode 9. In all fairness, he just wanted to hinder Karol, and not hurt her to the point of forcing a medical evacuation, like Yul wanted to do with Aiden.
  • Ascended Fanboy: Aiden had watched all of Total Drama and previously auditioned for the first season of Disventure Camp but was passed up for being "uninteresting". Luckily, he got his chance next season and went far as a contestant on there, eventually landing in third place.
  • Awful Truth: Gets subjected to this twice.
    • During Season 2, Aiden learns from Riya that James was originally dating him in a stunt to earn more followers, calling their entire relationship into question. While he does call out Riya, claiming that he knows she's only doing this to throw him and James off their game, it takes James saving him from falling off a cliff and the two having a heart to heart about their relationship for Aiden to properly forgive him and the two to become a couple again.
    • During All-Stars, Episode 3 has him learn that James, his boyfriend, was eliminated during the Magenta team's elimination ceremony last night, leaving him feeling heavily saddened before the challenge begins.
  • Baby Talk: Despite being a young adult, Aiden teasingly tells Emily "My hubby is vewy sowwy" in regards to James originally feigning a relationship with him for publicity.
  • Berserk Button: A good reason to get on Aiden's bad side is when people trick or betray him since he hates looking like a fool. Examples include becoming deadset on eliminating Yul when the latter manipulated the former into throwing out his vote so Maggy gets the boot, turning hostile towards Karol once he finds out about her revenge plan and almost never forgiving James for initially starting their relationship to gain followers.
  • Bearer of Bad News: Him and Tom are the ones to inform the girls alliance that the exit that Miriam was looking for was the other way, revealing that Miriam was playing them for fools just as Grett and Yul and Ally and Hunter brought the treasure chests to the dock, resulting in the Cyan Team's loss.
  • Brutally Honest: He isn't afraid to speak his mind on what he thinks of others and the sadistic challenges Kristal comes up with, often in an assertive and snarky tone. Lake cites Aiden as one of the reasons she managed to stand up for herself and against her parents.
  • The Cassandra: He is the only contestant to honestly believe Nina is alive after she moved and talked on her own while puppeteering her for a challenge, but everyone else thinks it's just fancy special effects or advanced robotics. However, Nina's sentience is deliberately left ambiguous so neither party is proven right.
  • Character Catchphrase: Shouts out an indignant "What's wrong with you?!" whenever someone makes him particularly angry.
  • Character Tic: Aiden has a habit of crossing his arms when seated or in a neutral pose.
  • Create Your Own Villain: While there were many factors in her eventual Face–Heel Turn, Riya's transformation into a villain only really gets going after Aiden not only sabotages Karol and Oliver using the same spider she gave him, which results in Karol breaking her leg, but gets away with it, which convinces Riya that the only way to get forward is by playing dirty.
  • Deadpan Snarker: As a fan of Total Drama, he tends to make wry comments over the challenges' unoriginality and/or sadistic undertones to the unamusement of Kristal. This almost ends up working against him when a quip during the trivia challenge leads Kristal to threaten to expose Aiden's darkest secret, shutting him up right then and there.
  • Did Not Think This Through: During the trivia challenge, Aiden eventually gets so sick of Kristal's questions that he suggests the other team that if they fail on purpose, nobody's secrets have to be exposed anymore. He says this while Kristal is present and still has the button to submerge him and the other contestants. No points for guessing what happens next.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: Downplayed. Aiden has softer facial features and a not-so-top-heavy torso compared to the other guys in the competition, but he's otherwise clearly male.
  • Duality Motif: His hair is white on one side, and black on another.
  • Easily Forgiven: Downplayed. One of his greetings confirms that he and James felt really sorry for what they did to Karol, and called her to apologize. In return, she accepted their apology, but made it clear she needed some space from them.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: Aiden doesn't take betrayal well. At all. Whether it's something as simple as James tricking him into helping him vote Karol out, or learning that James was originally using their relationship together as a way to get clout on social media, his reaction from taking it badly to taking it really badly.
  • Fatal Flaw:
    • His fear of heights prevented him from jumping and paragliding off an insanely high and treacherous cliff for the final challenge. Even though he was the first to reach the top, Aiden hesitated enough for Riya to catch up and made him back away until he was left dangling over the ledge. This Near-Death Experience convinced Aiden there was no way he could beat Riya and eliminate himself so James can qualify as a finalist instead.
    • In a more serious tone, his temper. While Aiden is usually calm, he can really blow up when he gets upset, which causes him and James to not be at their top game during the final challenge and, coupled with his fear of heights, nearly ends his life when Riya almost throws him off a cliff.
  • Fear of Thunder: He jumps when he hears thunder crackling during the slasher challenge and becomes nervous in All-Stars during a thunderstorm.
  • First Kiss: As revealed in "Truth Hurts", Aiden had his first kiss with James during the kissing challenge last episode. He tries brushing it off as no big deal but was clearly flustered by it.
  • Foil: To James, being the emotional and sensitive guy to his strategic and manly man.
  • Foreshadowing: There were a few hints alluding to The Reveal of Aiden being Transgender that was first teased in the trivia challenge:
    • Before the sex-reassignment surgery question was asked, Kristal threatened Aiden to expose his worst secret which made him really distressed and briefly clutch his chest.
    • While having a heart-to-heart talk with Lake about her abnormal life, Aiden cracks a joke about what is considered "normal" nowadays.
    • He wears a tank top as part of his swimwear in his debut season as opposed to going shirtless like the other guys.
    • Speaking of which, Aiden's design has noticeable differences from them which includes being androgenous-looking, shorter, slimmer and not as top-heavy or muscular as well as having what's considered a unisex name.
    • Finally, his audition tape shows his room, and he has a pillow with the trans flag. In addition, Aiden mentions that he already tried to audition for a prior season but that he looked "different".
  • Friendly Neighborhood Spider: In "Sabotage Below Zero", Aiden was initially freaked out by the tarantula that crawled onto his sled but found it quite harmless and lets it rest on his shoulder after Karol convinced him to keep it as a pet. Alas, this didn't last very long as the spider was accidentally squished when Karol fell on top of it during the challenge.
  • Gay Guy Dies First: During the slasher challenge, he was the second out right after James when The Night Butcher catches and "kills" him. Justified as The Night Butcher turns out to be Karol in disguise who still holds an obvious grudge against Aiden and James for eliminating her and wanted the two as the first "victims".
  • The Generic Guy: His relationship with James and trans identity aside, Aiden comes across as one of the more normal contestants among the quirky cast. In fact, as revealed in the trivia challenge, he auditioned for the previous season, only to be rejected for being too generic.
  • Heroic BSoD: The first few episodes of All-Stars are not kind to him. After showing just how happy he and James are, the two wind up on different teams as a result of differently colored parachutes. Then, after the Magenta Team loses the first challenge, James becomes not only their first casualty, but the first elimination of All-Stars overall, something that devastates him when he learns about it the next day. Then, the Cyan Team ends up losing the next challenge, and he's the one targeted for elimination by Ellie and the girls alliance. Lake tries to convince them to change the target to Tom, but this just leads Lake to be the one targeted and eliminated instead, and unlike last time, Aiden's very much present to see the events play out. It's no wonder he's so downtrodden by the start of episode 4.
  • Hypocrite: After Ellie pushes Tom on top of him in order to distract Jake so he doesn't stop his team from getting another point in "Ball Busters", Aiden scolds Ellie, calling her out for playing dirty. Not only was this tactic relatively tame by Ellie standards (especially compared to betraying and getting Lake voted out, which Aiden got to see), but Aiden himself is no stranger to playing dirty, as one of his most famous game moves in Season 2 involved using a spider that Karol gave him in order to sabotage Karol and Oliver, causing the former to be sent flying and breaking her leg.
  • Informed Attribute: He's a big fan of Total Drama and watched the previous seasons in preparation for his stay in Season 2. This knowledge of reality TV show never comes into play, and in fact, Aiden shows himself to not be any more Genre Savvy regarding the game than the other contestants.
  • In Touch with His Feminine Side: Aiden doesn't really have considerably campy traits but those that stand out are his open and emotional personality, preferring comedy and drama movies over horror and being quite stylish as an e-boy (Including donning a wolf cut that's typically a woman's hairstyle).
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: Once he reaches the air gliding part of the final challenge, Riya's words and Aiden's fear of heights force him to recognize that this is as far as he can go, and instead gives James the push needed to defeat Riya once and for all.
  • Literal Cliffhanger: Subjected to one in the finale where Riya exploits Aiden's crippling acrophobia by making him back away to the edge of a crazy-steep cliff until he fell off. Aiden precariously hanging on for dear life with only his hand stopping him from a thousand-feet vertical drop acts as the segway between the two parts but luckily, James manages to catch him just before he loses his grip.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: A very attractive, androgenous-looking e-boy with a shoulder-length, half-dyed wolf-cut.
  • Meaningful Name: Aiden's name means "Little Fire" which is fitting given he's one of the shortest contestants and the most expressive, especially when angered.
  • Morality Pet: To James, as he may manipulate Aiden, but had not once schemed against or voted for him in the entire competition due to his crush on him. Eventually, James' love for Aiden changed him for the better to the point of their relationship becoming way more important than his followers by the time of the finale.
  • The Napoleon: Downplayed. Aiden is among the shortest of the male contestants, and he can get quite fiery when he gets riled up, but he's a fairly chill guy when nobody gets on his bad side.
  • Near-Death Experience: Happens twice to him during the competition, almost falling victim to Yul's food poisoning scheme if it weren't for James betraying him and then there was the cliff incident, which shook him up both times.
  • Never Got to Say Goodbye: Since he and James are on separate teams and the teams only learn who left last night at the start of the next challenge, Aiden only ends up learning that James got voted out during the morning after episode 3, when he's already left.
  • Nice Guy: One of the friendliest contestants of the season, being willing to interact and cooperate with other people so long as they don't get on his bad side.
  • Nonconformist Dyed Hair: As a fashionable e-boy, Aiden dyed his hair half-white, half-dark-brown right down the middle.
  • Non-Indicative Name: For someone whose label is "The E-Boy"Definition, Aiden isn't all that interested in social media or even the internet in general. While he does look the part and has a small following on Instagram, Aiden couldn't care less about being active online or gaining followers and is instead focused on the competition and prize money. This is made more apparent and Ironic when he's paired up with James who sometimes annoys him with his clout-chasing and image-obsessing tendencies.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Unlike the other guys in the season, Aiden isn't very top-heavy, with his upper and lower torso being evenly distributed. He also has softer and rounder features compared to the other guys' more angular designs.
  • No Sympathy: Twice over, one in each season he's in.
    • In Season 2, after getting Karol's leg broken as a result of him sabotaging her and Oliver's sled, he tells her to shut up when she gets angry over her broken leg. While he does eventually feel sorry for it come All-Stars, Karol makes it clear she wants space from him AND James regardless.
    • In All-Stars, he happily rejoices with Tom when Ellie gets voted out, even rubbing it in her face that her Villain Alliance couldn't save her.
  • Noodle People: He's noticeably a lot slimmer and not as top-heavy as most of the guys on the show.
  • Oblivious to Hatred: Aiden is unaware of how Jake dislikes him due to his quick friendship with Tom, and due to Alec planting the idea in his head, thinking that Aiden is cheating on his boyfriend James with Tom.
  • Oblivious to Love: Due to some trust issues at the start, Aiden wasn't aware of James' huge crush on him until Lake spelled it out in "Not As Easy As It Seems" halfway through the season. This should have been obvious in hindsight with moments like James being way too eager to kiss him for the kissing challenge, betraying Yul the moment he learned about the poisoning scheme and cuddling Aiden while asleep. After the reveal, Aiden decided to give James another shot and become friends once again.
  • Odd Couple: The two have polar opposite personalities and Aiden initially distrusts him after James uses him as a cover for betraying Karol, but he and James end up working quite well together as a couple.
  • Odd Friendship: One of the closest friendships that Aiden made during his tenure in Season 2 was with Lake, the studious prodigy, to the point that the two of them are still on friendly terms in All-Stars, and Lake is willing to go against Ellie's plan to target Aiden in order to keep him safe.
  • Official Couple: While he and James become a couple during the season, they have a brief falling out after Aiden learns he was initially being used by James to gain more followers. By the end of the finale, they're a couple again, and are easily one of the happiest couples by the time of All-Stars.
  • Opposites Attract: His relationship with James, see the trope below.
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: Downplayed; he not only celebrates with Tom when Ellie gets eliminated in "Give Me Some Space", but even rubs it in her face how her Villain Alliance couldn't save her in the end. However, it's hard to say she didn't have it coming, since not only did she end up adding fuel to the misunderstanding between Tom, Aiden, and Jake, but wound up getting Lake, his best friend, eliminated right in front of him.
  • Perky Goth: Aiden may be rocking that alternative e-boy look with Nonconformist Dyed Hair, cross earrings and striped sleeves, but his personality is the complete opposite of what's expected: outwardly expressive, emotionally sensitive especially when provoked and usually friendly to people he trusts.
  • Properly Paranoid: When Karol returns to the game during Season 2, Aiden is immediately suspicious, believing that Karol mostly returned in order to get revenge on Aiden and James for causing her first elimination. This ends up being proven correct in Karol's confessional soon after, where she says she plans to make them both pay for betraying her.
  • Raven Hair, Ivory Skin: Partially, anyway. Half of Aiden's hair is black, and his skin is a notably paler shade of white compared to the other white contestants.
  • Satellite Love Interest: Once his and James' relationship properly blooms, the majority of Aiden's character ends up revolving around their relationship. Aiden does have some things going on for him, like his rivalry with Karol and the fact he's trans, but these are either resolved fairly quickly and are still connected to James somehow (his rivalry with Karol) or is left All There in the Manual and doesn't impact his character In-Universe anyway (him being trans).
  • Security Blanket: The trivia challenge reveals Aiden still sleeps with a teddy bear he had as a baby. James offers to be a substitute in "Broke & Back Mountain" when he gets spooked by the thunderstorm.
  • Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: The Sensitive Guy to James' Manly Man, being more openly expressive and prone to emotional outbursts courtesy of his English voice actor, Brandon Belc, giving it his all.
    • In All-Stars, he's also the Sensitive Guy to Tom's Manly Man.
  • Ship Tease: With James. The latter becomes oddly affectionate towards him after mentioning Tom and Jake from season 1, they sleep together after watching a romantic movie, and share a moment while taking a swim during the prelude to the final challenge, among many other, smaller moments sandwiched between.
  • Straight Gay: Aside from his slightly flamboyant traits (See above), Aiden's attraction to James is the only indicator that he's gay.
  • Super Gullible: Downplayed as Aiden isn't stupid, but he should know better who to trust since he can't always rely on the goodwill of people in a competition show like Disventure Camp as James pointed out. Sure enough, Yul, Karol and James himself took advantage of him at various points for their own benefit, although Aiden quickly learns and is more cautious around them onwards.
  • Trans Equals Gay: Defied. Aiden is trans and shown to only be attracted to guys, more specifically James.
  • Twofer Token Minority: As confirmed by the official Pride Month 2023 post, Aiden is gay and the only Transgender character on the show. He also ends up dating James which makes them a Twofer Token Minority Couple.
  • Unwitting Pawn: He unintentionally plays along James' plan to get Karol voted off, with him only finding out after Karol has already been jeopardized and been marked for elimination. A much worse example, however, happens when Riya reveals that James originally planned to use their relationship as a way to get clout on social media, causing Aiden to question if the moments they shared together were ever real or not.
  • Was It All a Lie?: He's left wondering this regarding his relationship with James after Riya reveals that he was using him for a Publicity Stunt Relationship to get more followers.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Downplayed with Karol as while they weren't exceptionally close friends, she considered him to be the only person in the entire camp she didn't actively dislike in addition to her animal companions. That all changed after James caused Karol's elimination by exposing her plans in voting off one of the girls on their team, something she told Aiden in private. Even though Aiden was unaware of this and tried apologising, Karol took it personally regardless and targeted both him and James as her prime Arch Enemies for the rest of the season.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: While Aiden does have a few minor ones such as thunder and horror films, his primary one is his acrophobia (The fear of heights) which leaves him in a hyperventilating panic attack. Unfortunately for Aiden, this fear was put to the test in two back-to-back challenges where he had trouble jumping off the lowest level of the crazy steep cliff and again at the very top which was made worse after Riya left him hanging.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: His reaction when the wheel landed on him and James for the kissing challenge. He wanted to get this over and done with but was overwhelmed by James' kiss being way longer and more intense than it should have been, becoming even angrier about the situation.
Aiden: WHAT! Seriously?! [In the confessional] Among the other ten people who are here, why him?

    Ally
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/37c8db51_e6bc_4933_ae79_e0a8e0304b83.png
The Gamer Girl
All-Stars
Voiced by: Ale Espinoza (Spanish; English, Ep. 9-13), Valentina Velasco (English, Ep. 1-8) , Joy Bernus (English, All-Stars)
Team: Green Team (S2), Magenta Team (AS)
Placement: 6th (S2), TBA (AS)
Eliminated in: Episode 9 (S2), TBA (AS)

Ally is a girl who’s had a passion for geek culture since she was little. She has always had a fondness for video games, mainly due to the influence of her grandfather who was a gamer of yesteryear. The last year wasn't so good for her, so she auditioned for Disventure Camp to distract herself from her problems.

  • Beautiful Singing Voice: It's revealed in All-Stars that her grandfather always told her she "had the vocals" when it came to singing.
  • Better as Friends: After a lot of tension between her, Hunter, and Tess, she decides that it might be for the best for her and Hunter to remain friends, and try to give Tess a chance.
  • Berserk Button: Cheating at games pisses her off if her snapping at a group of kids doing so in the past is any indication.
  • Bespectacled Cutie: An Endearingly Dorky and Lovable Nerd and the only female to wear glasses in the cast.
  • Birds of a Feather: She gets along swimmingly with Hunter and first bonded over the fact they are Geeky game-fanatics who can keep at it for long periods of time.
  • Blue Is Heroic: Ally's signature color is blue, as seen in her clothing and Playboy Bunny outfit, and she's among the more morally good contestants in Season 2.
  • But Not Too Bi: A promotional artwork made by the creators to celebrate Pride Month confirms that Ally is bisexual, but her love interest is Hunter, a guy, and she treats Tess more like a close friend than a potential love interest.
  • Crazy-Prepared: She brought a lot of gaming consoles with her to the camp, which proves beneficial when Connor accidentally snaps one in two, when she wants to play multiplayer with Hunter, and when Kristal tells her to burn them during the Queen challenge.
  • Deadly Bath: One of the stupidest decisions in a slasher-based challenge is to take a shower, which is what Ally exactly did. This left her completely vulnerable to the Night Butcher's surprise attack and on the floor "dead" all covered in "blood". However, it's played with in that Ally's "death" was harmlessly achieved through tranquilizers and ketchup.
  • Decoy Protagonist: Ally has all the makings of a finalist, being a rootable Nice Girl with relatable geeky traits and is heavily focused on her Love Triangle with Hunter and Tess and fanservice, but ranked sixth place.
  • Did Not Think This Through: As Hunter pointed out in "Sabotage Below Zero", Ally's insistence to pull him on the sled instead of the other way around would certainly not help their chances of winning the challenge and immunity, especially when their alliance has been targeted for elimination since the start of the merge. Next, she tried reaching out to Riya to vote for her Best Friend Rosa Maria rather than James whom she had previously voted for before. As a result, both of these decisions directly caused her elimination in the same episode.
  • Disposable Woman: Ally's not only among the first campers to fall to the Night Butcher during episode 8, but her death in particular is used to motivate Hunter to confront the butcher head on and avenge her.
  • Endearingly Dorky: As a result of her kind personality and passion for video games, which is also why Hunter quickly bonds with her.
  • Gamer Chick: Why else would her label be "The Gamer Girl" and true to that, she makes a living live-streaming video games and packed enough consoles, plus even backups, to keep herself occupied during the camp.
  • Geek: Playing video games is her passion.
  • Genre Blind: During the slasher challenge, she decides to take a bath before joining the rest of the campers in figuring out how to beat the killer, when the average Horror fan knows that doing this is a giant death flag in this sort of scenario. Predictably, she's killed by the slasher, though luckily it turns out she was just knocked unconscious.
  • Iconic Item: Her gaming consoles which she takes everywhere and brings tons of backups just in case. Unfortunately, Ally had to destroy all but one in a fire for the Queen's challenge and didn't take it well at all.
  • Irrational Hatred: After Season 2, she became subjected to a lot of hate in universe on social media and her streams. After she publicly began dating Hunter, it's gotten worse.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Tells Tess she would be fine with Hunter choosing her in spite of also being in love with him.
  • Lovable Nerd: As a video game player with a kind personality.
  • Love Triangle: Is a part of one with Hunter and Tess, which drives most of their conflict in the season.
  • Modesty Towel: Fashioned an improvised version out of a bathroom stall curtain after being "killed" while showering during the slasher challenge.
  • Ms. Fanservice: The season's most prominent female fanservice, whether it be in her Playboy Bunny costume, her bikini, or her Shower Scene complete, with Sexy Silhouette and Modesty Towel.
  • My Greatest Second Chance: While this is pretty much the case for all the non-winner contestants in All-Stars, Ally especially wishes to improve herself in the eyes of her haters and the show's fans in universe. Could also be cross into YMMV territory as many fans view her as a flat Satellite Character in Season 2.
  • Nerds Are Sexy: A Bespectacled, Geeky Gamer Chick who provides the most female fanservice on the show.
  • Nice Girl: Her most notable trait (Besides her Gamer Chick schtick) is that she's one of the more peaceful and friendlier contestants on the show. This can be best seen in her Love Triangle situation: a typical Total Drama character would snap and try to get the third-party taken out of the picture, but Ally is fine with being friendly with both Tess and Hunter and is happy to take herself out of the equation if it means they can both be happy.
  • The Not-Love Interest: In spite of her initial Ship Tease with Hunter, she ultimately doesn't become his girlfriend after her romantic feelings for him faded out over time and remained platonic True Companions. Averted after the Time Skip.
  • Official Couple: With Hunter after the Time Skip.
  • Playboy Bunny: Ally wears one in her signature light-blue colour, once when livestreaming and again as part of her dare during the Queen's challenge much to her embarrassment. There's even official art of a full-body version of Ally in the costume.
  • Purely Aesthetic Glasses: Downplayed. Ally's career as a streamer likely led her to need glasses for her consistent time glued to a screen, but she can see fine without them; she has no problem seeing Hunter and Tess when they share a bed together, and gets a clear look at the Neck Butcher before becoming their next victim.
  • Reluctant Fanservice Girl: During the Queen's challenge, Ally was forced to wear her Playboy Bunny costume and was clearly embarrassed by it.
  • Series Continuity Error: Ally's tattoo revealed in "Broke & Back Mountain" was clearly missing in the previous two episodes when she was in her Playboy Bunny outfit. Word of God has admitted that was a major oversight on their part.
  • Ship Tease: With Hunter from "Open Your Eyes" but it ultimately never goes anywhere since they decide they are Better as Friends... until they receive a Relationship Upgrade post-Time Skip.
  • Shout-Out: Her gaming consoles may or may not share any resemblance to Nintendo Switch in all but name. She also has a picture of Pac-Man on her t-shirt.
  • Stepford Smiler: She has not shared the full extent of how much her online hate has affected her to Tess and Hunter.
  • Take Me Instead: Tries to invoke this when Tess is eliminated but Kristal refuses, saying they would both get the boot if she does so.
  • Tragic Keepsake: Her tattoo, used to remember her grandfather who got her interested in playing games.
  • True Companions: With Hunter and Tess. While there's some tension between them at the start due to her and Tess' shared attraction towards Hunter, they eventually decide they are Better as Friends and share a hug, their bond stronger than ever.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: She's the one who tells Riya about how her team has a plan to target Lake for elimination, and makes a convincing argument to her that Lake is too dangerous to keep in the game. This would eventually lead to a chain of events that would result in Riya becoming more and more ruthless until she eventually became the Big Bad of Season 2.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Ally rightly calls out Hunter for impulsively kissing her just as she was about to leave on the bus in "Sabotage Below Zero". This is especially since (a) he personally requested to save the Love Triangle after the competition is over (b) by that point her and Tess' crushes on Hunter had faded away to a solid but platonic friendship and (c) it wasn't fair for Tess since her elimination two episodes ago meant she can't have any input on the matter.

    Connor
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/6b8add30_bbaa_47b8_94d1_abf915276f17.png
The Adultescent
All-Stars
Voiced by: James Box (Spanish), Michael Kim (English)
Team: Green Team (S2), Yellow Team (AS)
Placement: 12th (S2), 14th (AS)
Eliminated in: Episode 3* (S2), Episode 6 (AS)

Connor is a man who is about to turn fifty and has had a hard time accepting that he no longer fits in with young people. This leads to him always resorting to desperate attempts to stay young and hip, which almost never end well.

  • Acting Your Intellectual Age: Inverted. Connor is turning 50 and joins the show to try to deal with his midlife crisis, but he does by trying to act like a teenager/young adult like the rest of the contestants. The keyword being trying, as nobody takes him seriously due to thinking he's trying too hard.
  • Big Ol' Eyebrows: Has considerable ones that are already graying like his hair to show his age.
  • The Bus Came Back: After his elimination, he appears again in "Sabotage Below Zero" when Oliver stumbled into the same bar he was drinking at.
  • Carpet of Virility: The most traditionally masculine member of the Yellow Team in All Stars, and for his team's musical number in "Strike a Chord" he wears an outfit that exposes his hairy chest.
  • Character Development: He has a short arc from trying and failing hard to fit in with the younger crowd to appreciating his age more thanks to Riya's encouragement.
  • Cool Shades: Wears a pair on his head to purposefully invoke this trope in an attempt to look more hip.
  • Cool Old Guy: While he initially wants to be seen as young, once Riya helps him through his midlife crisis, Connor proves himself to be a pretty cool person, proving to be supportive and friendly towards the other contestants, even those in the opposing team, like Maggy.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: While he doesn't go on detail about what happened, it's heavily implied he used to live in poverty and he tells Riya that he struggled until "someone gave him a hand".
  • Fiction 500: He joins the competition strictly to try to make himself feel younger; he's actually so filthy rich he can casually buy the hotel the eliminated contestants are staying at with no problem.
  • Gold Tooth of Wealth: Connor has a single prominent gold tooth and is a wealthy businessman who can afford to buy the hotel where the eliminated contestants reside and have plenty to spare to open his warehouse.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Voluntarily quits the show to prevent Riya from being potentially voted out by Yul's alliance in a sudden double elimination.
  • History Repeats: He's once again eliminated before the merge in All-Stars.
  • Hopeless with Tech: He can work a phone just fine as shown in his audition tape but when it comes to other kinds of technologies like Ally's consoles, he's completely clueless.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: Any friendship he makes is this by default, since he's the oldest contestant this season, but of particular notice is his relationship with Riya, who's at least two whole decades younger than him.
  • It Was a Gift: Gave Riya a perfume bottle as a birthday gift which she was shown to greatly appreciate it even after his elimination.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Due to missing out on the last few episodes to open his new warehouse, Connor was completely unaware of Riya's sudden Face–Heel Turn and still supported and helped her in the finale. Thus, he was in for a big shock by the extent of what Riya would do to win the million.
  • Milestone Birthday Angst: Connor joined the show because he's turning fifty and is in denial of being old.
  • Mentor Archetype: Points out Ally's and Tess's feelings towards Hunter to the latter and gives him advice regarding how to handle his Love Triangle.
  • Nice Mean And In Between: For the older contestants, he is the Nice to Karol's Mean and Riya's In-Between. Connor is quite friendly and approachable from the start of the show, and he tries to act as peacekeeper when his teammates, mostly Yul, try to stirr up trouble.
  • Non-Gameplay Elimination: Immediately after Kai was voted off by Yul's alliance, Kristal declares a double elimination for the sake of drama and tension. However, this was foiled when Connor quits of his own volition so Riya won't be a target for the alliance.
  • Only Friend: By the time of the finale, he's the only person willing to associate with Riya, as every other relationship she had or could've had crashed and burned thanks to her ruthless quest to get first place.
  • Only in It for the Money: Averted. Connor is already rich, so he doesn't care about winning the prize money unlike most of the campers. He only joined the show in the first place to feel young again.
  • Rags to Riches: Implied in the finale when Riya tells Connor that he doesn't know what it feels like living without money but instead of agreeing, he retorts how she doesn't know what he endured to be a successful businessman. This hints he used to be poor or faced harsh economic situations in the past before working his way up.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Twice. The first time he willingly quits the competition when Kristal tries to do a double elimination at the last second, right after voting out Maggy, and the second happens when Riya snaps at him and tells him that she doesn't need his help, at which point he decides to leave her to her own devices and stops supporting her.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Money!: A rare non-villainous example. Connor is wealthy enough to buy the hotel where the eliminated contestants stay offscreen so that he doesn't have to stay there after his elimination and work on opening his warehouse.
  • Ship Sinking: Connor doesn't approve of Riya's Face–Heel Turn after finally noticing it and refuses to help her in the finale, with her also claiming she doesn't need him, thus ending their initial Ship Tease. Happens again in All-Stars, this time for good.
  • Ship Tease: With Riya. She's the first person he interacts and befriends during the competition, she helps him out with his mid-life crisis by telling him how he should just be himself, and he gifts her a bottle of perfume when he decides to call it quits and leave the program of his own volition.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Connor gets eliminated really early on but his presence on the show has not been forgotten by the others:
    • He was the one to point out Hunter's Love Triangle situation with Tess and Ally and gave him advice on how to deal with it, kickstarting the three's season-wide story arc and the problems that come with it.
    • The perfume he gave to Riya as a birthday present is greatly appreciated throughout the season and became her Iconic Item.
    • His short appearance in "Sabotage Below Zero" has Connor not only convinced a recently-fired Oliver to return to Disventure Camp but finally shows Kristal the error of her ways which drove Oliver away in the first place.
  • Sunglasses at Night: He doesn't actually wear them, but he has a pair of sunglasses resting atop his head at all times, even during nighttime.
  • Token Adult: He is one of three contestants in the season who aren't around the age of teenagers or young adults, and the oldest of them as he's turning fifty. This is part of the reason why he feels so out of touch with the other players and bonds with the likewise Riya.
  • Token Good Teammate: After Miriam's elimination, he is the only good guy left on Yellow Team. It doesn't last long since Connor is soon eliminated as well.
  • Uncle Pennybags: He is stated to be incredibly rich but doesn't let that change him from being an all-around Nice Guy to everyone.

Eliminated in: Episode 11 (S2), Episode 5 (AS)

Hunter is a usually closed-off guy in his own world who loves games of all kinds. Chess, Rubik’s cubes, Monopoly, video games- all types of games are his passion and take up a lot of his time.

  • Ascended Fanboy: He's a fan of Ally's streams, and not only does he become one of her closest friends through Season 2, but he ends up dating her come All-Stars.
  • Berserk Button: His friends getting hurt. He's especially motivated to face the Butcher solo after Ally seemingly becomes one of their victims.
  • Became Their Own Antithesis: Back in Season 2, Hunter was legitimately shocked when the trivia challenge revealed that Ally made some kids cry during an online game, implying he had a soft spot for children. Come All-Stars, he's possibly one of Fiore's biggest detractors, seeing her as a liability at best and a pest at worst, and it's Ally who at least humors the idea that Fiore might be someone worth allying with.
Ally: Hunter! You're a grown man fighting with a child!
  • Birds of a Feather: Both he and Ally are geeks who like to play games and can spend a long time doing so.
  • Born Lucky: Post-merge, Hunter manages to win individual immunity four times in a row for one contrived reason or another:
    • "Not As Easy As It Seems" all came down to a ring toss, but while Lake had successfully completed the challenge first, it was immediately reverted when a stray bullet from a malfunctioning cannon knocked her ring off the pole. This allowed Hunter to have another shot and take the win instead.
    • Despite getting out midway through "Nightmare in Tipiskaw", Hunter was granted immunity alongside Ally by Karol. This is because Nina told her to share her immunity with them as Hunter and Ally are the biggest targets for elimination so it would be more dramatic for the alliances to be evenly matched.
    • "Sabotage Below Zero" has Hunter accidentally break the rules by losing both his blindfold and his partner Ally during the blindfolded sledding challenge. Instead of disqualifying him, Kristal ignores those points on account of being the only person to actually cross the finish line and put everyone else up for elimination.
    • By "Popping Trust", the remaining contestants had wisened up to Hunter's winning streak and decided to gang up against him four-to-one for the battle royale challenge. He wouldn't have stood a chance if it weren't for Rosa Maria warning him in advance and the group's in-fighting over their stolen things distracting them long enough for Hunter to take everyone out.
    • The one time he did lose was in "Broke & Back Mountain" where he came dead last, but Kristal was in a particularly good mood and declared the episode as a non-elimination round.
  • Bridal Carry: He briefly picks up Tess this way as one of the dares for the Queen's challenge although he doesn't see the appeal of it like Kristal and the fans do.
  • Broken Win/Loss Streak: Hunter had been on a roll of winning immunity ever since the teams merged, with him either gaining the immunity outright or the round ending up as a non-elimination round. His luck eventually runs out during the penultimate challenge, as not only does Aiden win that round, but Riya uses the Immunity Totem she stole from Rosa Maria in order to make herself immune, leaving only Hunter to be voted out.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Hunter's whole aesthetic with his goth-like clothing, skull necklace, incredibly pale skin and perpetual underbags makes one believe he's an Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette (or even a Hidden Villain as speculated by some) but is in fact one of the calmest and nicest contestants around. It turns out Hunter only looks like that because he doesn't go out of his house often before coming onto the show and pulled one too many all-nighters playing games.
  • Demoted to Extra: He's one of the major players of Season 2, with his Love Triangle subplot with Ally and Tess taking a decent amount of screentime and Hunter himself reaching 4th place. Come All-Stars, he ranks 15th place, being eliminated long before the merge, partly as a result of his own team growing exasperated of his challenge-focused mindset and animosity with Fiore.
  • Did Not Get the Girl: After much romantic tension, Hunter doesn't end up together with either Ally or Tess, instead choosing to remain friends with them. Averted after Time Skip, where he ends up becoming Ally's boyfriend.
  • Double-Meaning Title: Hunter's label as "The Player" can either refer to his obsession with games and competitions or the Love Triangle situation he finds himself in when Tess and Ally gain crushes on him.
  • Exhausted Eye Bags: Has permanent ones as a consequence of playing way too many games overnight and becomes more pronounced in some challenges where he goes sleep-deprived.
  • Foreshadowing: In the official promotional poster, Hunter holds Tess and Ally in each arm with the two facing away from him. Similarly in the opening sequence, Hunter and Tess take the places of the season's couple at the campfire akin to Total Drama but are facing away from each other with the latter looking uninterested when the former looks her way. This hints at in spite of or because of their closeness, Hunter ends up with neither Ally nor Tess and the three remain just good friends for the remainder of the season.
  • Geek: In stark contrast to his looks, Hunter is the type to immerse himself in playing all types of games.
  • The Generic Guy: Love for videogames and Love Triangle situation with Ally and Tess aside, Hunter doesn't come across as the most interesting or unique contestant among everyone.
  • Hypocrite : In "Truth Hurts", he calls Ally out for making a bunch of kids cry, but he acts like jerk (if not, a bully) to Fiore in All Stars.
  • I'm Not Doing That Again: After getting paired up with Lake in "Broke & Back Mountain", Hunter kept his distance in fear of her friendliness towards him turning romantic, thus expanding and further complicating his love life. Not entirely unfounded since this exact scenario has happened twice with Ally and Tess but Lake was confirmed to be a lesbian according to Word of Gay so Hunter had nothing to worry about.
Hunter: Nope, not another one. Please no.
    [Later on after Lake left]
Hunter: I don't agree with Lake's situation but I admit, I feel a little relieved now that I'm on my own. If a Love Triangle is difficult, a square would be worse.
  • I'm Your Biggest Fan: Subverted. He admits to Ally that he knows her from her video game livestreams and compliments on her techniques but doesn't act any different towards her at all, unlike certain Loony Fans.
  • Innocent Blue Eyes: The only part of his character design that isn't grey, black or white are his blue eyes which adds a Splash of Color and show that he's actually a considerate and affable Nice Guy in spite of his appearance.
  • It's Personal: After coming across Ally's allegedly dead body in episode 8 of Season 2, Hunter swears revenge on The Night Butcher and goes out to hunt them to make them pay for killing Ally.
  • Jerkass to One: Towards Fiore in All-Stars, viewing her as a liability in challenges and not trusting her for obvious reasons. It plays a massive part in his elimination in Episode 5.
  • Knee Fold Fall of Defeat: Collapses to the floor this way at the sight of Ally's "bloodied corpse" in "Nightmare in Tipiskaw".
  • Lack of Empathy: Downplayed. Hunter is sympathetic to Ally's struggle for approval ever since she started receiving hate in her streams, but his way of trying to help her is by making her think that she shouldn't care about what others think and only focus on him, which just comes across as self-centered.
  • Love Triangle: Hunter bonds well with Ally and Tess, and both of them like him back. Connor informs him of this fact, but he tells them not to discuss it til after the competition. Eventually, it seems to fade away to a mere friendship between the three, until Hunter impulsively decides to kiss Ally before she leaves, much to her indignation.
  • Meaningful Name: Hunter lives up to his name in "Popping Trust" where he hunted down the remaining four players by himself when they all decided to gang up on him in the battle royale challenge.
  • Might Makes Right: He develops this mindset when he returns for All-Stars, being heavily focused on winning the challenges as much as possible. While in theory this should make him a strong competitor, in practice it just makes him seem like a jerk who only cares about winning and nothing else, which becomes part of the reason his team opts to vote him out instead of Fiore in episode 5 of All-Stars.
  • Mr. Fanservice: He's quite attractive for a geeky, game-loving goth and well-built as seen by him appearing shirtless more times than any other guy on the show.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: He knows full well he messed up by impulsively kissing Ally before his friendship trio could be reunited and learn about his decision regarding the Love Triangle after the show as he had promised.
  • Nerds Are Sexy: Like Ally, Hunter is a Geek invested in all kinds of games (Despite not conventionally having the appearance of one) and provides the most male fanservice of the season alongside James.
  • The Night Owl: His Exhausted Eyebags are the end result of him pulling one too many all-nighters playing videogames. This actually ends up helping him during the "faux awake-a-thon" challenge, as he spends the first half of it playing videogames with Ally without getting too exhausted.
  • The One Guy: After the team switch, Hunter became the only male member left on the Green Team.
  • Odd Friendship:
    • Although mostly one-sided on her part since he prefers to avoid her to avoid potentially expanding his Love Triangle, Lake develops one with Hunter in Episode 6, finding a surprising number of things they have in common while being partnered together for the challenge.
    • Despite not talking to each other throughout the first nine episodes, he develops one with Rosa Maria after the latter makes him open up about his worries in Episode 10.
  • Perky Goth: Hunter has all the makings of a gothic character: black clothing, black hair with pale skin, and uneasy accessories like skulls, but he's actually a pretty chill guy who remains fairly stoic for most of the game.
  • Plot Armor: Hunter is never at risk of elimination until the penultimate challenge in "Rotten Fruit" mainly because of plot contrivances. The one time his team was ever up for elimination pre-merge was in Hunter's favor as his alliance had the biggest strength in numbers at the time. Post-merge episodes were no different since he won individual immunity almost every single time for increasingly flimsy reasons (See above) with the only time he lost was "Broke & Back Mountain"... which happened to be the sole non-elimination episode of the season.
  • Ship Tease:
    • With Tess, even as early as in the opening, taking the place of the usual main couple by the center of the bonfire.
    • With Ally, starting with Episode 2.
  • So Near, Yet So Far: Upon being finally eliminated, Hunter lamented how this just so happened to be right before the finale and because of Riya nullifying all her votes when she's meant to get the boot:
Hunter: No! So close to the end, I could have won that final challenge!
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Downplayed. Hunter has his relationship problems with Ally and has shown he's not good at listening to her many times but it's clear he still cares about her. He's also a jerk towards Fiore but considering who Fiore is and her physical weaknesses in challenges, he can't be blamed too much.
  • A Tragedy of Impulsiveness: When Ally is about to leave and promises to give his regards to Tess at the hotel, it seems that their Love Triangle storyline has ended on a high note… until he randomly pushes a kiss on Ally, leading to her calling him out and leaving in anger and confusion, as well as putting the trio’s friendship into serious question.
  • True Companions: With Tess and Ally.

The Influencer
All-Stars

Team: Orange Team (S2), Magenta Team (AS)
Placement: 1st (S2), 18th (AS)
Eliminated in: N/A (S2), Episode 2 (AS)

James is a model and influencer who has an excessive ego. He thinks that followers are more important than friends, and he auditioned for Disventure Camp because he wants to be more popular on social media.

  • Anti-Villain: He's The Strategist capable of betraying his allies. However, he's also not antagonistic towards anyone, has a case of Love Redeems by delivering karma to a resident Jerkass, and is generally nicer when compared to Yul and Karol.
  • Arch-Enemy: To Karol after throwing her under the bus and causing her elimination. His actions also unintentionally cause Aiden to be viewed as such by her.
  • Attention Whore: Enjoys the fame and attention from his followers, so much so that he initially used Aiden for a Publicity Stunt Relationship to try and gain even more.
  • Bad Influencer: Downplayed. James isn't particularly nasty, especially when compared to someone like Yul, but he's a manipulator who's willing to use other people in order to increase his social media following.
  • Becoming the Mask: Riya reveals that James originally used his relationship with Aiden as a Publicity Stunt Relationship in order to amass more followers and clout in social media. However, by the time the truth comes out, James had come to genuinely fall in love with Aiden, and tries desperately to make amends to him after the truth comes out and he can't properly explain himself.
  • Big Ol' Eyebrows: Has one of the thickest eyebrows among the cast.
  • Black Dude Dies First: During the slasher challenge, James is the first contestant "killed" by the Night Butcher. Justified as the Night Butcher turned out to be Karol who still hasn't gotten over her grudge and wanted him as the first "victim".
  • Cassandra Truth: When Riya reveals how he used Aiden to get follows on social media, James tries to salvage things by telling Aiden how he cares about him more than his followers. While he's being honest with this comment, Aiden's lack of tolerance for betrayal, as well as Riya using his poorly worded remark to ruin what little support he has left, means his words fall on deaf ears.
  • Cellphones Are Useless: Played With. On the one hand, being allowed to use his phone gives James an advantage by being able to look up information on other campers at his leisure. On the other hand, said phone almost never plays a role in his performance during challenges, and of the few times James did use it, it either failed when he needed it the most like in the slasher challenge or was used against him like when Riya checked it and exposed his plan to use Aiden to gain followers when he and Aiden were starting to actually like each other.
  • Character Development: Learns to put his relationship with Aiden above updating his followers on TikTok.
  • Demoted to Extra: He's the winner of Season 2 and one of the central characters in that season, but is the first eliminated contestant in All-Stars.
Kristal: From last year's champion to first boot.
  • Didn't Think This Through: He originally decided to get together with Aiden in order to use said relationship in order to gain more followers. However, James never seemed to come up with a contingency plan in case either A) He developed feelings for Aiden for real, of B) Somebody found out about said plan and used it against him, as Riya reveals the plan to both him AND Aiden before one of the last challenges and he's left mumbling his words as he tries to explain himself.
  • Everyone Has Standards: He may stoop low to do whatever it takes to win, but draws the line at physically harming the contestants. This is what causes him to betray Yul when he doesn't uphold the same morals as him.
James: Lying? Sure. Manipulate? Whenever you want. But poison someone? That is way too much.
  • Foil:
    • To Aiden, being the strategic and manly man to his emotional and sensitive guy.
    • To Jake. Both get separated from their respective love interests in All-Stars by being placed on different teams, while said boyfriends quickly bond. However, while Jake becomes a Crazy Jealous Guy due to feeling like Tom replaced him with Aiden, James fully trusts his boyfriend and believes he and Tom are just friends.
  • Forceful Kiss: When James was given the opportunity to kiss his crush Aiden for "The Kiss-A-Thon" challenge, he milked it for all its worth even when the latter tried pulling away and was left both flustered and angry. However, he did later regret it next episode once James found out that was Aiden's First Kiss.
Aiden: [After pulling away a second time] What's wrong with you?! Three seconds was more than enough!
James: [Teasing] If we're going to win, we're going to win in style.
    Aiden: Shut up!
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: With the exception of Aiden who eventually warms up to him, James is not that well-liked due to his strategic, often untrustworthy and manipulative nature. This made him a target for elimination, receiving at least one vote for more than half of the elimination ceremonies he attended and was in the bottom two thrice, with his other allies Lake, Riya and Rosa Maria immediately choosing him as their first option if they have to vote each other off. Best exemplified in the finale where James has no supporters among the eliminated contestants when even Riya, the season's final antagonist, has some.
  • Freudian Excuse: James admits to Rosa Maria in the finale that the reason why he became so obsessed with gaining followers was because he used to be invisible before and was absolutely miserable. The validation he got from social media made him feel like someone and was all he ever needed until he met Aiden.
  • Friendless Background: Implied. When telling Rosa Maria about the reason why he became so obssessed with gaining followers, he reveals that he felt invisible when he was younger, which suggests he had little, if any, actual friends or attention before he became an influencer.
  • #HashtagForLaughs: After his argument with Jake after the first challenge in All Stars, James mocks Jake's posts on social media in a confessional by saying this:
James: I mean, have they seen what he posts, crying about never finding true love? Hashtag Thirsty.
  • He Is Not My Boyfriend: When The Night Butcher teases James about loving horror movies more than his "boyfriend" Aiden, he replies this verbatim as their relationship is in an in-between space at the moment (But the audience knows better).
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: He ends up leaving his phone aside while he and Aiden go take a swim before the final few challenges, and he either has no lock password or has an easy one to figure out, because Riya manages to get it, unlock it, and learn James' Publicity Stunt Relationship gig with Aiden, which she used to drive them apart for the final few challenges.
  • Iconic Item: His smartphone which he frequently uses as an influencer to update his followers on TikTok and take selfies with Aiden. This also ends up becoming important to the plot for the later episodes as a Story-Breaker Power and his downfall.
  • Jerkass Realization: Riya revealing his original plan to use his and Aiden's relationship as a way to get clout on social media gives James the kick in the balls he needs to re-evaluate himself and come to realize how he's been treating Aiden all game.
  • Karma Houdini: He ends up tricking Aiden into talking with Karol so he can learn what she plans to do, and then eventually gets her voted out by telling the girls about her plan. Not only does he not face any consequences for this, but he ends up becoming an Official Couple with Aiden, despite his intense dislike of betrayals.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: He orchestrated Karol's elimination with a little help of Aiden, and he becomes one of Karol's first targets during her stint as the Night Butcher.
  • A Lighter Shade of Black: While he's not above betraying his allies to ensure his (and Aiden's) safety, he's nowhere near as antagonistic towards anyone as Yul or Karol.
  • Loophole Abuse: Typically, contestants in Total Drama or similar shows have their phones taken from them during their stay, as they're not allowed to call home or interact with social media. James, however, is allowed to keep his phone since his entire gimmick is being a social media influencer; taking away his phone would be like taking away a bird's wings.
  • Love Redeems: James' feelings for Aiden cause him to turn on Yul when the suggestion of poisoning Aiden comes up. Not to mention, also ends up developing true feelings for him as time goes on in spite of originally using him to gain more followers.
  • Made Out to Be a Jerkass: Riya exposes James' original plan to his relationship with Aiden in order to gain more followers, making it seem as if he was only using him all along, and James does not help matters by wording his response in a way that allows Riya to twist it into coming across as James hating his followers, which leads to him losing what little support he had left.
  • Moment of Weakness: Right after Riya reveals he was initially using Aiden to get more social media following, James tries to salvage it by saying how Aiden's more important to him than those losers. Not only is Aiden not impressed, but Riya uses the fact he called them "losers" in national television as the final nail in the coffin to destroy what remaining support he has.
  • Mr. Fanservice: He, along with Jake from the original version of the previous season, are the only guys to show full-body nudity on the show. It's even used as a thumbnail for Episode 5. He also wears quite tight swimming trunks as his swimsuit, which is even featured on a thumbnail for Episode 7 and Episode 2 of All-Stars.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Genuinely regrets initially using Aiden just to gain more followers.
  • Naked People Are Funny: As one of the dares in the Queen's challenge, he had to run across the stage in his birthday suit, much to the amusement of everyone present.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Near the end of the 2nd episode of All-Stars, James is steadfast in not only defending Aiden when Jake, as a result Alec's manipulation, thinks is cheating on James, but calls out Jake over letting his paranoia and trust issues badmouth his boyfriend despite barely knowing him. Unfortunately, this causes Jake to convince Ashley to vote for him, causing James to become the first boot of the third season over Fiore.
  • Odd Couple: The two have polar opposite personalities and Aiden initially distrusts him after James uses him as a cover for betraying Karol, but he and Aiden end up working quite well together as a couple.
  • Official Couple: While he and Aiden become a couple during the season, they have a brief falling out after Aiden learns he was initially being used by James to gain more followers. By the end of the finale, they're a couple again.
  • Opposites Attract: His relationship with Aiden, as stated below.
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: Poisons Yul for his plan to poison Aiden.
  • Phoneaholic Teenager: Not a teenager, but the principle is the same. As "The Influencer", James is essentially the only camper allowed to keep his phone, and there's rarely a moment where he's not either having his face glued to its screen, or mentioning doing something with it.
  • Plot Armor: Not to the extent of Hunter but when Karol briefly rejoined the show, she had the opportunity to get rid of him once and for all given he was usually a target for elimination. However, she wasted her chance to be the deciding vote for James in "Nightmare in Tipiskaw" by voting for Lake instead so as to gain his and Aiden's trust and then was conveniently medically evacuated for a broken leg in "Sabotage Below Zero". Karol additionally spends the entire latter episode convincing Riya (and by extension her ally, Rosa Maria) to join her vendetta against James and Aiden but they end up voting for Ally in the elimination ceremony.
  • Pragmatic Pansexuality: He was officially confirmed to be pansexual during the Pride Month 2023 announcement of the show's creators, so his attempts to seduce Aiden initially can be seen as part of his strategic prowess before his feelings towards Aiden became genuine.
  • Precision F-Strike: Against his followers on social media when trying to explain and defend himself when Riya exposes that he used Aiden to gain more social media attention.
  • Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: Manly Man to Aiden's Sensitive Guy.
    • In All-Stars, he's also the Manly Man to Jake's Sensitive Guy.
  • Ship Tease: With Aiden. The two share multiple tender moments together, like sleeping together after watching a movie, before becoming official.
  • Shipper with an Agenda: James' original idea for his and Aiden's relationship, as Riya reveals, was for it to be a Publicity Stunt Relationship in order to increase both their clout and social media following. While this agenda isn't true by the time the truth comes out, Aiden has none of it.
  • Single-Target Sexuality: While he's pansexual, the only person he ever shows interest in during season 2 is Aiden.
  • Social Media Before Reason: He's not called "The Influencer" for nothing. When the relay race is starting and him and Aiden are in their buggy, his first thought is to try take a selfie with him, something that Aiden notices and calls him out on.
  • Story-Breaker Power: James being allowed to have a phone. Not only does him updating his TikTok reveal that he's allowed to be online, which in theory could give him access to information about other contestants and their relationships and alliances on the show that he could use against them, he can also use it to take pictures and record videos. This actually comes in handy in Episode 9 and allows him to regain Aiden's trust, which he would've otherwise struggled with. Episode 11 has this used against him, as Riya exposes James' real initial intentions regarding Aiden after seeing messages from others on his phone.
  • The Strategist: He's the most strategic player of his debut season. Unlike other antagonists, he doesn't act like an asshole towards anyone, unless they really push his buttons.
  • Tall, Dark, and Handsome: One of the tallest characters, has dark skin, eye, and hair color, and is very good-looking.
  • Tampering with Food and Drink: Yul makes James himself put the poisoned mushroom in Aiden's food to try get him eliminated, only for James to pull a switcheroo and poison Yul instead.
  • Twofer Token Minority: James is pansexual as confirmed by Word of Gay and the only black person in the season two cast. He also eventually got together with Aiden and became a Twofer Token Minority Couple.
  • Undying Loyalty: To Aiden. When Jake comes to him and asks if he thinks Aiden is getting too close to Tom, James takes offense in what Jake is trying to imply, and asserts that he trusts that Aiden would never cheat on him.
  • Will They or Won't They?: Has one with Aiden since his strategic nature, betraying Karol and finding out James was initially just using him to gain more followers causes the latter to lose trust in him. However, he regains Aiden's trust after saving him from being eliminated via being poisoned, choosing to betray Yul instead, and later does so again in the finale after making up with him.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: James initially sought out Yul as a potential ally but he had proven himself too much of a liability when he opts for "alternative methods" of getting rid of the competition, especially when he first targeted Aiden. As such, he double-crossed Yul in a heartbeat not more than an episode later and sent him to the hospital instead.

The Zen Guy
Voiced by: Julio Aquino (English), Mariano Chakirian (Spanish)
Team: Green Team
Placement: 13th
Eliminated in: Episode 3

Kai is a guy who is very connected to his spiritual self through meditation. He usually stays very relaxed, and as a pacifist, he is bothered by conflicts and tries his best to avoid them.

  • Actual Pacifist: The best pacifist example of both seasons. Overlapping with Badass Pacifist since, while he'll never stoop to violence, he'll verbally mutilate you through "The Reason You Suck" Speech if deserved.
  • Badass Pacifist: Kai is a genuine pacifist who never lays a finger on another person, and always tries to find a peaceful solution to conflict. However, once his rage is hit, Kai becomes able to verbally tear apart someone with relative ease, getting Yul to shut up when his bullying of Maggy goes a little too far.
  • Berserk Button: Antagonizing Maggy, as Yul finds out.
  • Beta Couple: With Maggy. While their relationship doesn't get as much focus as Aiden and James, they still get decent screentime and are shown to bounce off well with each other.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: While one of the calmest contestants, he will deliver a Cluster Bleep-Bomb Precision F-Strike "The Reason You Suck" Speech if pressed.
  • The Bus Came Back: Instead of getting on the bus, Kai roughs it out in the forest to be one with nature which allows him to appear in future episodes such as offering a recently-eliminated Maggy to join him and giving Oliver cryptic advice upon coming across them.
  • Cluster Bleep-Bomb: Delivers one to Yul during the challenge and his elimination to the point of surprising everyone.
  • Flipping the Bird: Flips off Yul after being voted out.
  • Lotus Position: He always sits like this, even on a dune buggy, as expected for someone labeled "The Zen Guy".
  • New-Age Retro Hippie: The basis of his stereotype as "The Zen Guy". Kai is a calm and easygoing guy who's also an Actual Pacifist, never looking for a violent resolution or to hurt anyone unless somebody strikes a nerve, and even then he'll only verbally tear them apart if he can help it.
  • Nice Guy: One of if not the nicest contestants of the season as a pacifistic, New-Age Retro Hippie who is polite and well-mannered toward everyone... except Yul.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: His main personality trait is being Actual Pacifist, but as you can see on this page, most of the tropes refer to his Cluster Bleep-Bomb towards Yul, which is meant to show how much Kai cared for Maggy as well as to prove how annoyed everyone is by Yul's antagonistic behavior.
  • Precision F-Strike: Kai blows off these towards Yul during episode 3 and at his own elimination.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Has one towards Yul.
  • Recovered Addict: Kai is functional for the most part, and he claims to no longer be doing drugs during the challenge where everyone must stay awake, implying he used to do drugs before eventually coming around.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Delivers one to Yul akin to Lindsay's from "That's Off The Chain!".
  • The Stoner: Implied. Kai has an easygoing and laidback nature, and during the "Faux Awake-A-Thon" challenge, he confesses that he doesn't do drugs anymore.
  • Theme Naming: Kai means "Ocean" which perfectly compliments Maggy whose name means "Pearl". In other words, she's the pearl in Kai's ocean.
  • Time-Passage Beard: Heavily exaggerated as it only took him three episodes to grow an impressively long and scruffy-looking one while living in the forest. He also outgrew his hair to a similar length by the time of the finale.
  • Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: After getting together, Kai is the Tiny Guy to Maggy's Huge Girl. Albeit Kai is of average height but Maggy is big enough to eclipse over and Bridal Carry him.

The Bossy Woman
Voiced by: Katia Hamra (Spanish), Anna Linehan (English)
Team: Orange Team
Placement: 7th
Eliminated in: Episode 9*

Karol is a bossy woman with a large amount of character. She doesn't mind saying what she thinks, and perfectly fits the archetype of a Karen. Despite her unstable relationships with people, Karol gets along quite well with animals, and she even owns a shelter that rescues exotic animals in danger.

  • Arch-Enemy: For Karol, it's Jaiden, or James and Aiden together. The latter she thought of as one of the few people she didn't dislike, but him seemingly using her trust to give James the chance to eliminate her dissipates any good feelings towards both of them, and she becomes determined to get revenge on them once she returns to the game.
  • Ambiguously Brown: She has fairly dark skin, but unlike the other dark-skinned contestants, who are confirmed to come from cities where dark skin is most common like India or Brazil, Word of God says she comes from the United States, which is a conglomerate of different skin tones.
  • Animal Lover: One of Karol's few redeeming qualities is that while her people skills leave a lot to be desired, she gets excellently well with animals: she helps a crocodile with a broken leg during the insomniac challenge, happily lets an eagle rest on her arm during her first elimination, and she removes a camera on a moose's head during the finale with no prompting.
  • The Beastmaster: Karol shows a surprising ease in taming what would otherwise be incredibly dangerous animals: she gets a crocodile to calm down so she can fix their leg, and then befriends a wolf to help her pull Riya's sled.
  • Berserk Button: Karol is usually in a bad mood anyway, but a very good way to make an enemy out of her is to betray her trust. Aiden and James revealing her plan to vote one of the girls out to the girls themselves, though mostly James' idea, causes her to develop a grudge against the two.
  • Better with Non-Human Company: Feels a stronger connection to animals, but is rather grumpy towards people.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: She makes it clear in her return that she intends to get revenge on Aiden and James for betraying her and seems to be a decent threat, but she's eliminated in the very next episode.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: She pretends to want to be friends with the other contestants and to have forgiven Aiden and James upon her return, but plans to secretly get her revenge on them.
  • The Bus Came Back: She unexpectedly rejoins the game midway as made a deal with the producers to dress up as the Night Butcher and "hunt" down the remaining contestants for the challenge in exchange.
  • Butch Lesbian: Unsurprisingly, given her incredibly short temper and blunt, surly attitude not commonly associated with femininity, she was confirmed as one in the Pride Month 2023 post.
  • Canine Companion: During the sled challenge in the winter-themed episode, Karol manages to get an arctic wolf to help her pull Riya's sled.
  • The Corrupter: Her return, while short lived, allowed her to be this towards Riya and Aiden, with the former falling victim to Karol’s manipulative ideologies as a potential notch against Aiden and James, while the latter learning of her lies leads to him unlocking a more angry and vengeful side of himself.
  • Did Not Think This Through: Instead of becoming the deciding vote against James in "Nightmare in Tipiskaw", Karol votes for Lake so her act of forgiving him and Aiden appears genuine. Only to break the act anyway by the very next episode, meaning she missed out on the perfect chance to eliminate James, which led Aiden to unintentionally cause her Non-Gameplay Elimination and fail to exact revenge on either of them.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: She's irate when James gets her eliminated by revealing her plan to vote one of the girls to the girls themselves, with her being angry at Aiden since she told him about that in private.
  • Everyone Has Standards: As much as she hates Aiden, she doesn't want to see the e-boy dead and looks just as surprised as everyone else when he was in serious danger of falling off a cliff, unlike Yul.
  • Hates Everyone Equally: "Hate" is a bit too strong a word, even for her, but she makes it clear that she doesn't particularly like anybody in the camp. The only exceptions are Aiden, which ends up ruined when James uses him to get her eliminated, and Riya, and even then she's more interested in using her to get her revenge on Aiden and James, at least at first.
  • Hidden Depths: She may seem like the stereotypical Karen, but has shown a soft spot for animals, being able to tame the most dangerous and deadly of which in contrast to her immense dislike for people. Her stint as The Night Butcher also displays her athletism and stealthiness up front, enough to easily take down the remaining cast more than half her age.
  • Hoist by Her Own Petard: If she hadn't convinced Aiden to keep the spider he found in "Sabotage Below Zero", he wouldn't have used it on her partner Oliver for the challenge who promptly freaked out, crashed Karol's sled and directly lead to her elimination in the same episode by means of a broken leg.
  • Ironic Name: Karol's name can mean "joyful" when she's anything but.
  • It's Personal: Her grudge against Aiden and James stems from the latter revealing to the girls her intention on voting one of them which she told the former in private, directly causing her elimination she's immensely bitter about. This carries over after returning and gaining even more reasons to hate the two when she is not only eliminated again because of them but also accidentally kills the spider she gave to Aiden because he used it to sabotage her. It cultivates in Karol gladly taking up a cannon to prevent James from crossing the finish line in the finale.
  • Jerkass Has a Point:
    • While grumpy and surly, she was right about telling Connor to act like his own age as that'll make him more accepted by everyone and calls Kristal out on drugging her and Ally.
    • Later, while pulling Riya's sled, she tries to get into her head that the only way people advance in the game is by playing dirty, as a way to try and get her on her vendetta against Aiden and James. However, while she's doing this just to get her as an ally, Karol's remark is quite spot-on: many of the ways that the contestants either got voted out or managed to stick around involved somebody playing dirty, and many of the legitimately good players, like Connor, Kai, and Maggy, got eliminated very early on in the game.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Karol is a surly, perpetually sour stereotype of a Karen, but she's perfectly capable of being friendly so long as you don't cross her, and she gets along exceptionally well with animals.
  • The Karen: Basically her label. She's a bossy woman often shown complaining about the conditions on the show.
  • Major Injury Underreaction: She ends up giving "Break a leg" a whole new meaning when she suffers a sled accident that ends with one of her legs broken, but is more focused on the fact that Aiden used the spider she gave him to cause her sled to crash rather than the fact that her leg is broken.
  • Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: The Butch Lesbian masculine girl to Yul's Camp Straight feminine boy.
  • Meaningful Name: Karol's name is the feminine form of Carl meaning "Strong" or "Manly". The former attributes to her strong-willed attitude and physical strength as displayed with The Night Butcher while the latter can refer to being a Butch Lesbian.
  • Morality Pet: Karol doesn't like anyone, but animals warm her up. She nurtures them whenever they're injured, and was happy to leave with an animal by her side.
  • Nice Mean And In Between: For the older contestants, Karol is the Mean to Riya's In-Between and Connor's Nice. As a surly, stereotypical Karen, this is rather expected of her.
  • Non-Gameplay Elimination: The second time she's eliminated is via a medical evacuation due to her leg injury.
  • Older Than She Looks: Before being revealed by Word of God that she was in her 40s, Karol could have easily passed for a woman in her 30s, around the age of Riya.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: She only rejoined the game for one episode but was the one responsible for setting up Riya as the True Final Boss.
  • Stronger Than They Look: One could look at Karol and think she's just an ordinary woman, but her stint as The Neck Butcher showcases a significant level of athleticism and agility she hasn't shown before.
  • Token Adult: She is one of three contestants in the season who aren't around the age of teenagers, being a middle-aged woman in her forties, and the sole adult on the Orange Team.
  • Toxic Friend Influence: She was more interested in getting her to her side and doesn't stick around for longer than an episode, but Karol's influence on Riya leaves a very notable impact on her, causing her to eventually adopt a more pragmatic and ruthless view of the game, which results in her eventually becoming the Big Bad of the season.
  • Two Aliases, One Character: She typically goes by Karol, but she also goes by The Night Butcher during the slasher challenge.
  • Twofer Token Minority: She's an American woman in a competition filled mostly with Canadians, and also a Butch Lesbian.
  • Vengeance Denied: When she returned to the show, she made it clear she had plans to make Aiden and James suffer for betraying her. However, she gets eliminated the very next episode, with her revenge scheme cut off as a result.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Double-subverted. After competing for only two episodes, Karol was admitted back midway into the game which allowed her to gain a more fleshed-out personality and plot relevance... right before she's eliminated the very next episode via a medical evacuation.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Downplayed, as they weren't exceptionally close, but Karol considered Aiden as the only person in the entire camp she didn't actively dislike alongside her animal companions until James eliminates her by exposing her plans to vote one of the girls off their team which she had told Aiden in private. From then on, Aiden became her Arch-Enemy alongside James and made it her personal mission to ensure neither of them wins the million.

    Lake

The Prodigy Girl
All-Stars
Voiced by: Sunsitoo (Spanish), Azalea22 (English)
Team: Orange Team (S2), Cyan Team (AS)
Placement: 8th (S2), 17th (AS)
Eliminated in: Episode 8 (S2), Episode 3 (AS)

Lake, a young prodigy, has the ability to memorize everything she sees or hears. Her family is full of successful people who have forced her to be a perfectionist to an unhealthy degree.

  • Abusive Parents: Her family makes her study every minute she gets, she is told to eat as little as possible which has caused her to lose her hair from malnutrition and stress, and they arrange for her to marry a guy she does not know.
  • Arranged Marriage: Her parents arranged for her to marry a guy when she gets old enough to do so. Lake herself doesn't know anything about the guy, other than he comes from a prosperous family, but she's willing to go through with it because she thinks it's what's best for her. It's unknown if this marriage is still happening as of AS, or if it got called off at some point.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: A double example; she's the youngest among her siblings, and is also the youngest contestant in Season 2, at 16 years old. It's Downplayed in in All-Stars since the youngest contestant in that season is Fiore, who is 8 years old, but Lake is still the second-youngest at 17 years old.
  • Badass Adorable: An utter sweetheart of a prodigy who, once she builds up some confidence, manages to show herself as being able to go toe-to-toe with the most competent contestants in the season.
  • Baldness Angst: Played for drama during the Queen challenge, where Kristal trying to force her to remove her wig on National TV causes her to suffer a breakdown and snap and call out Kristal on her BS, which leads to her team losing the challenge.
  • Bare Midriffs Are Feminine: Befitting of a feminine girl, Lake's swimsuit and pajamas in All-Stars expose her midriff.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: While she ends up losing their fight to Karol as the Night Butcher, she's also the only one to successfully put up a fight against her, even if only temporarily.
  • Big, Thin, Short Trio: Lake is the Thin to Rosa Maria's Short and Maggy's Big before the team switch.
  • Book Burning: Alongside Ally having to burn her consoles, Lake is ordered by Kristal to burn all her books. Though initially hesitant, Lake eventually does as told, glaring at Kristal as she does.
  • Charlie Brown Baldness: The photo Kristal is given to reveal her baldness depicts Lake with a flower on her head and a few strands of blonde hair.
  • Character Development: As noted by herself, with her friends' support, she went from doing anything her parents wanted to being in control of her own decisions. She also becomes much more willing to stand up for herself, even being willing to stand up to Ellie in All-Stars when she has the idea to try to vote out Aiden.
  • Cheated Death, Died Anyway: Lake manages to survive the challenge in episode 8 of Season 2 up until the Night Butcher catches her and seemingly kills her. However, it turns out to be a faked scenario and Lake, alongside all the other victims, didn't actually die... Only for Lake to wind up eliminated in the same episode anyway because of Riya not warning Rosa that she was being targeted.
  • Conditioned to Accept Horror: Lake's parents have placed her under such a strict study schedule and lifestyle that even when other characters notice it, Lake fails to see anything wrong with it, believing that her parents only want what's best for her. She eventually drops this once her friends allow her to make her own decisions, regardless of what her parents think.
  • Cute Bookworm: She's a cute prodigy whose books are her prized possession, which is even used for a dare in Episode 5.
  • Decoy Protagonist: She's a rootable Nice Girl who undergoes a major Character Development, develops several friendships including one with the hostess of the show, almost scores the first two individual victories, and is heavily focused on, having the most focus out of her entire alliance. But rather than a finalist, some of the aforementioned points make her seen as a threat and she ranks 8th, being eliminated in the 8th episode.
  • Demoted to Extra: After getting a clear story arc and getting pretty far during Season 2, she becomes the second boot in All-Stars after she tries and fails to convince the girls' alliance to vote off Tom, which Ellie eventually uses to convince Tom to vote for her.
  • Didn't Think This Through: During episode 3 of All-Stars, Lake attempts to prevent Aiden from being voted out because someone in the Cyan Team needs to go since they lost the challenge. However, instead of joining up with Tom and Aiden and try to convince them to vote someone else out or at least make a tie, she goes to the girls alliance and tries to convince them to vote out Tom, arguably the strongest member of the team at the moment. This, alongside her refusal to listen to Ellie, is what ultimately seals her elimination at the end of the episode.
  • Endearingly Dorky: Due to her innocent and sweet nature and dorky personality.
  • Expository Hairstyle Change: Or rather, a wig change. See Meaningful Appearance below.
  • Final Girl: Has this role in the horror-themed challenge, though she does not survive this, losing the challenge to the "killer" and being eliminated in the same episode.
  • First Kiss: As revealed in the trivia challenge, Lake had hers with Ally during the kissing challenge.
  • Fiery Redhead: Downplayed. Once she begins donning her red wig, Lake's more exuberant personality shines through, but she doesn't become quite the Genki Girl like someone like Gabby.
  • Flowers of Femininity: She had an orange flower in her blonde wig and is one of the more girly females in the cast.
  • Friends Are Chosen, Family Aren't: Lake's relationship with her family is, for lack of a better term, frosty: while she seems to get along with her siblings just fine, she absolutely hates her parents because of them practically controlling her life since she was born. By contrast, she gets along much better with the people she befriends at camp, like Maggy, Aiden, and Rosa Maria, the latter who even allows Lake to live with her in Mexico at the end of Season 2.
  • Given Name Reveal: Lake's last name is revealed as "Müller" in "Broke and Back Mountain" when Kristal was called up by her father. This makes her the only contestant and one of two characters in the entire series to have their full name confirmed.
  • Graceful Loser: Both of her boots. In "Season 2", she's initially upset, but leaves feeling happy and appreciative of her growth and hugs Riya and Rosa goodbye. While she originally looks frusturated when she's eliminated in All-Stars and seems angry at Ellie for causing it, she otherwise takes it well. She also doesn't seem to hold ill will against any other contestants.
  • Gratuitous German: She bids "auf Wiedersehen" to The Night Butcher as a Post-Mortem One-Liner when ramming them overboard with her boat.
  • Guy on Guy Is Hot: In "The Kiss-A-Thon", there is a shot of her noticeably blushing during Aiden and James' prolonged kiss.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Played with. She's one of the nicest contestants in season 2 and she's blonde. While it's later revealed that she wears a wig, an image of her with a few strands of her hair left reveals she naturally is blonde. However, she later replaces her blonde wig with a red one.
  • Honorary Aunt: Despite not being biologically related to her, Sofia refers to her a "Auntie Lake".
  • Honor Before Reason: In All-Stars, when Cyan Team needs to go to their first elimination ceremony, Lake refuses to join her alliance in voting for Aiden, because she says her friendship with him is worth more to her than the whole game, even with the prize for the season increased to three million dollars. This results in Ellie betraying her and throwing her under the bus to Tom, getting Lake voted out instead.
  • Humble Heroine: She's a sweet girl and, despite becoming an award-winning author in All-Stars, she remains as humble as ever. She even states the only reason one of her books became popular in the first place was because of Tess' narrations, though it's unclear if that's true.
  • Iconic Item: Both of her wigs and previously her books until she's forced to get rid of them during the Queen's challenge.
  • Informed Ability: Lake's bio says that she has a Photographic Memory that lets her remember everything she has seen or heard once, but she never gets to show this in the show proper.
  • Lipstick Lesbian: She's a fairly feminine girl, and a promotional art made by the creators to celebrate Pride Month confirms she's a lesbian.
  • Lovable Nerd: A prodigy with an incredibly kind and sweet personality.
  • Master of the Mixed Message: She tries to be friendly with Hunter during episode 6 by saying that they share some things in common while partnered together. Hunter, who's currently stuck in a Love Triangle with Ally and Tess, misunderstands this as Lake potentially hitting on him and runs away.
  • Meaningful Name: Her last name "Müller" can be translated from German to "Miller" which means "profession". Lake has big shoes to fill when her parents are an accomplished violinist and nuclear chemist who make her study non-stop to unhealthy degrees so she can have the best possible career path according to them.
  • Meaningful Appearance: Overlapping with Colour-Coded for Your Convenience. Lake wearing a bright blonde wig represents her initial Nice Girl self who's obedient to her parents. Her red wig, which she starts wearing as of Episode 7 and claims to have wanted before her mother chose the blonde one for her, representing the currently free and rebellious Lake.
  • Nice Girl: One of her main character traits is how nice she is.
  • Odd Friendship:
    • One of the first few friends she ends up making outside of Rosa Maria's alliance is Aiden, the sarcastic E-Boy with knowledge of how reality TV shows work.
    • Although mostly one-sided on her part, she develops one with Hunter in Episode 6, finding a surprising number of things they have in common while being partnered together for the challenge.
    • Although quite subtle, she develops one with Kristal, the sadistic hostess of the show who's nothing like her, after their heart-to-heart conversation about their problems with their parents. Made even more ironic, given that Lake was the one who delivered "The Reason You Suck" Speech to her during the Queen challenge, triggering the hostess to end it.
  • Photographic Memory: Her official bio states that Lake has the ability to memorize everything she sees or hears, although this is mainly an Informed Ability as this was never referred to in-universe.
  • Pink Means Feminine: Befitting of a fairly feminine girl, her pajamas include a pink top.
  • Prematurely Bald: As a result of the stress from her parents' high expectations of her.
  • Rage Breaking Point: She takes Kristal's crap like everyone else during the Queen challenge, but once she orders her to take off her wig, Lake basically snaps, calling her out over her petty and mean-spirited nature and refusing to follow her orders anymore, costing her team the challenge.
  • Shipper on Deck: For Maggy and Kai as well as Aiden and James.
  • Slashers Prefer Blondes: Played with. First of all, her blonde hair is revealed to be a wig, although the picture of her being bald with only a few strands of hair left shows that her natural hair color was blonde as well. Then, she becomes the Final Girl of the Slasher Movie challenge. However, she doesn't survive it and loses to Karol as the Night Butcher.
  • The Smurfette Principle: She ends up the last female member on the Orange Team after Rosa Maria switches to the Green Team and Maggy's elimination in the same episode.
  • Sorry, I'm Gay: She was officially confirmed to be a lesbian during the Pride Month 2023 announcement of the show's creators, so her refusal to marry the guy her parents had arranged her to marry may have been motivated by this: she just isn't interested in guys at all.
  • Stealth Insult: After she is eliminated in All-Stars and says goodbye to her friends Aiden and Tess, she assures Tess she knows she isn't the kind of person to "bend her morals for a cash prize", while shooting Ellie the stink eye.
  • Teen Genius: Basically her label due to her parents forcing her to constantly study. Considering they've been doing so for her entire life, she most likely started as a Child Prodigy. This is later reinforced when, during the timeskip between Season 2 and All Stars she becomes an award-winning author at the age or 16/17.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Lake wasn't bad at challenges pre-red wig persay, but she didn't stand out as a particularly strong competitor either. Once she gets the red wig, she proves herself to be able to go toe-to-toe with Hunter, who had several Immunity wins to his name, to the point she comes this close to winning Immunity and breaking Hunter's streak.
  • Took a Level in Cheerfulness: Don't get it twisted, Lake is shown smiling several times, but this is more due to her being a Stepford Smiler. Hanging around with Rosa Maria's alliance and learning to become more independent leads her to become genuinely happy, which she makes clear to Rosa before Lake boards the Bus of Losers.
  • Token Wholesome: She's decently covered up in her regular attire, and her swimsuit in her debut season covers the most skin out of the bathing suits the other female contestants wear.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Delivers one to Kristal once presented with yet another Sadistic Choice during the Queen challenge.
  • Undying Loyalty: As demonstrated in All-Stars, if someone becomes Lake's friend, she'll have their back the whole time, as proven when Lake tries to convince the girls alliance to vote out Tom instead of Aiden to protect him, and refuses to budge when Ellie tries to convince her otherwise.

The Bullied Girl
Voiced by: Daiannie Vera (Spanish), Natosaosa (English)
Label: The Bullied Girl
Team: Orange Team
Placement: 11th
Eliminated in: Episode 4

Margarett ("Maggy") is a shy girl who comes from a fragmented family. All her life she has been a victim of bullying because of her big size and strength, but despite that, she has a noble heart.

  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Befriends Rosa Maria and soon Lake since they decided to talk to her unlike the other contestants. She also ends up falling for Kai after he defends her from Yul when the latter begins insulting her during the kissing challenge.
  • Beta Couple: With Kai. While their relationship doesn't get as much focus as Aiden and James, they still get decent screentime and are shown to bounce off well with each other.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: The most timid contestant of both seasons, but also the person who sucker punched Yul for making fun of Lake.
  • Beware the Quiet Ones: Due to her shy nature, Maggy doesn't tend to speak often, but her muscular build is definitely not just for show.
  • The Big Girl: Maggy is the tallest and the most physically built out of not only the girls but everyone in the entire series which is also the reason why she isolates herself.
  • Big, Thin, Short Trio: Maggy was the Big to Lake's Thin and Rosa Maria's Short before the team switch.
  • The Bus Came Back: Appears again alongside Kai in Episode 6 after Oliver comes across them in the forest.
  • Character Development: She barely reacts to Yul's abuse in the season finale compared to how she reacted in the game itself, with the only reaction she gave being a casual threat that got Yul to shut up immediately.
  • Childish Tooth Gap: The gap in her front teeth adds to the innocence of her character and she's one of the youngest contestants.
  • Does Not Know Her Own Strength: The trivia challenge revealed she had previously sent five boys to the hospital which is unsurprising given her size.
  • Endearingly Dorky: Her kind and shy personality is part of what Kai appreciates in her.
  • Grew a Spine: After letting Yul walk all over her, she eventually gets tired of his attitude and sucker punches him while proclaiming how she won't let him bully her anymore. She makes good on her promise as, when Yul tries to rile her up during the finale, she simply threatens him back without raising her voice, causing him to shut up.
  • Hiding Behind Your Bangs: Her fringe perpetually covers her right eye to accentuate her shy and vulnerable nature.
  • Huge Schoolgirl: The tallest character on the show as well as the most physically built, but she's the second youngest at 17.
  • Muscles Are Meaningful: Maggy's one of the tallest and most muscular contestants, being more built than even some of the boys, and has enough strength to send five guys to the hospital, as the trivia challenge reveals.
  • Nice Girl: One of the nicest contestants of the season which, besides her low self-esteem, is her most notable trait.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Maggy's character bio reveals her full name as "Margarett" but this was never said in the show proper since everyone calls her the former.
  • Rage Breaking Point: After insulting Lake one too many times, Maggy finally stands up to Yul and sucker-punches him in the face, leaving a nasty black eye for the next episode.
  • Redheads Are Uncool: Has red hair and used to be a social outcast, with even her label mentioning her past as a bullied girl.
  • Shrinking Violet: Basically her label.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: She ends up falling for Kai after he defends her from Yul's verbal abuse during the kissing challenge.
  • Theme Naming: Maggy's full name means "pearl" which perfectly compliments Kai's name meaning "ocean". In other words, Maggy is the pearl in his ocean.
  • Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: After getting together, Maggy is the Huge Girl to Kai's Tiny Guy. Although Kai is of average height, Maggy eclipses over him and is able to Bridal Carry him.
  • Vocal Dissonance: Given her giant, muscular frame, you'd expect Maggy's voice to be tomboyish or at least exceptionally deep, or even an adult woman voice. Instead, her voice is about as gentle and sweet as Maggy herself.
  • Younger than She Looks: While Word of God confirms she's 17, due to her tall stature, she could pass as a young adult.
  • Youthful Freckles: She's one of the youngest contestants and, much like the gap in her teeth, she sports freckles to add to the innocence of her character.

Team: Orange Team (Ep. 1-3), Green Team (Ep. 4 - Onwards)
Placement: 5th
Eliminated in: Episode 10

Rosa Maria is a teen mom who became pregnant at 16 years old. Despite being very young, she has a maternal instinct and likes to protect others. Rosa María strongly believes in horoscopes and astrology, and it’s something that has defined her life in recent years.

  • All-Loving Heroine: Rosa Maria is a kind woman who's always supportive towards her friends, and is willing to lend a hand when somebody needs help. The fact she's even willing to come to Riya's aid during the finale despite everything she did to her says volumes about her kindness.
  • Age-Inappropriate Dress: Downplayed. Rosa Maria wears blue jeans with a green crop top that exposes her belly, something that shows a bit of skin but isn't too outrageous... If you don't consider the fact she's also a teen mother with an infant daughter.
  • All for Nothing: Rosa kept the Immunity Totem with herself in order to be able to use it to save either herself or her remaining allies when the time came. Not only did she fail to save Lake with it, as Riya refrained from telling her that she was being targeted, but Riya ends up stealing the totem during the elimination ceremony of the final five, causing Rosa to be eliminated.
  • Ambiguously Bi: She got pregnant from a guy back when she was 16, but during the kissing challenge, she snaps at Yul insulting Maggy, saying that if she was the one who had to kiss her, she would without hesitation.
  • A Death in the Limelight: After spending most of the season Out of Focus, Rosa finally has her time to shine in "Popping Trust"... in the same episode she's eliminated in.
  • Bare Midriffs Are Feminine: She wears a green crop top that exposes her stomach.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Rosa Maria is easily one of the nicest and calmest contestants in Season 2, but this only makes the few times she snaps all the more impactful, like when she threatens to hurt Yul after he insults Maggy one too many times, or when she snaps at Riya after the woman gets her eliminated, reveals this fact, and then has the gall to try and downplay it by claiming it's a game and that they can still be friends afterwards.
  • Big, Thin, Short Trio: Rosa Maria is the Short to Maggy's Big and Lake's Thin before the team switch.
  • Bring It: In a similar vein to Leshawna in "Hook, Line, and Screamer", Rosa decides to face Night Butcher head-on, claiming people from her neighborhood were scarier. However, the killer has none of it and raises their axe on the clearly unarmed and alone Rosa.
  • Boyish Short Hair: Rosa has short hair that only reaches her neck, and is more of a tomboy compared to Lake and Riya.
  • The Cameo: She makes a brief appearance in the premiere episode of All-Stars despite not competing in the season, seeing Lake off as she gets on the plane.
  • Create Your Own Villain: Downplayed as it was more Karol’s doing, but without Rosa hiding the fact that she found the immunity totem Riya wouldn’t have snapped and eliminated Lake.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: One of the comics reveals what her past was when she first got pregnant: besides the actual panic of an unwanted pregnancy, Rosa's boyfriend broke up with her, her parents provided her no support and made her get a job, and she failed to find any job she could do to try and support her child. Things only began to brighten up once she saw her horoscope.
  • Did Not Think This Through: Her telling Hunter about the alliance's plan to ambush him and pop his balloons to clear her conscience ends up being this. Not only does she lose the trust of James and Aiden in order to help Hunter, who at that point had grown so powerful he could easily win the million, but Riya's Frame-Up of her being the thief of everyone's belongings ends up with her being eliminated and sent back through the Bus of Losers.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: Rosa ends up being framed for stealing others' belongings by her remaining best friend and ally, Riya. This, along with the latter stealing her immunity totem, causes her elimination in Episode 10.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Rosa Maria has the patience of a saint, being friendly and helpful to everybody even if they've done something to hurt her or her friends, like James and Riya, but even she wants to tear Yul a new one when he begins bullying Maggy during the kissing challenge.
  • Even the Loving Hero Has Hated Ones: Rosa is easily one of the most compassionate contestants in season 2, extending a hand to just about everyone who looks like they need a little help, but even she has no love for Yul and his arrogant attitude.
  • Fatal Flaw:
    • Trust. Rosa Maria's one of the nicest contestants in Season 2 and generally sees good in everyone that isn't Yul. Unfortunately, this means that she also doesn't think that her friends might end up betraying her one day, which is exactly what happens when Riya gets her eliminated during the final five.
    • Naivety. Rosa Maria's one of the few contestants confirmed to have no prior experience with any Reality TV show or what it entails, which means that she tends to fall prey to manipulation and trickery much more easily than everyone else.
    • Lack of foresight. Rosa Maria thinks with her heart most of the time, and while this does make her a very nice person with a strong social game, it also leads her to doing some actions without considering the consequences, like when she went behind her alliance's back to inform Hunter of their plan to ambush him.
  • First-Name Basis: If people aren't saying her full name, they're simply calling her "Rosa".
  • Former Teen Rebel: Several throwaway lines imply she was one before becoming pregnant such as being used to people calling her a bad influence on their children and knowing how to hotwire a car.
  • Forgiveness: Subverted. She helps Riya get to the last stretch of the finale challenge after she drove off Connor, but she makes it clear she hasn't forgiven her for backstabbing her: rather, she wants to give her daughter a good example in case she ever sees the episode, and teach her how it always pays to be nice.
  • Frame-Up: "Popping Trust" has all the items that have been mysteriously stolen show up in Rosa Maria's backpack during the balloon popping challenge, which causes her to be mistaken for the one who stole them, which ends with her elimination. And to add insult to injury? It turns out that Riya, the very woman who she's been supporting as her Best Friend was the one responsible for the frame-up, which she straight up told her before boarding the Bus of Losers.
  • Good Cannot Comprehend Evil: To be fair, Riya hasn't fully become evil by the time it happens, but still, Rosa is left utterly dumbfounded that Riya would not only betray her trust by setting things up so that she'd be eliminated, but having the gall to say they can still be friends after the competition is over.
  • Good Is Dumb: Naive, technically, but the point still stands that Rosa Maria is both one of the nicest contestants in Season 2, but also one who makes some pretty critical mistakes during her stay, including betraying her alliance to tell Hunter about their plan to ambush him, simply because she felt it was the right thing to do.
  • The Heart: She acts as one in her friend group with Lake, Maggy and Riya, being the emotional support they all desperately need, and being willing to listen to their problems and provide advice when needed. Notably, Rosa being eliminated thanks to Riya's machinations is the point where the latter starts descending deeper and deeper into a dark path, eventually resulting in her becoming the Big Bad for Season 2.
  • Honor Before Reason: Rosa's the kind of person who loathes having to play dirty, or tricking/lying to people she considers friends or is neutral about. This is what convinces her to tell Hunter about the alliance's plan to ambush him, which eventually ends up costing her team the challenge and ends in her elimination.
  • Hypocrite: After being eliminated, Rosa finally snaps after being calm and collected the whole game, unable to believe that Riya would betray her after everything she did for them. This is despite the fact that Rosa herself betrayed not only Riya, but Aiden and James as well when she went behind their back to inform Hunter of their plan to ambush him, something that she even told Riya herself in a panic when Hunter began shooting at them.
  • Hypocrite Has a Point: While Rosa is also guilty of betraying her alliance like Riya, it can't be denied that compared to what Riya did for her, Rosa has been nothing but a supportive and friendly individual to them and, unlike someone like Karol, never had any malicious intent in her interactions with Riya, which makes the betrayal come across as even more cruel than it already was.
  • Inconsistent Spelling: Her name can be spelled as "Rosa Maria" or "Rosa María".
  • Innocently Insensitive: She ends up finding an Immunity Totem while searching for it with Riya, but decides to keep it hidden until both she and Lake are around to tell them. While probably just wanting to get everyone on the loop from the get-go, this action from Rosa causes Riya to become paranoid over whether she trusts her or not, which would eventually lead to her framing and getting Rosa voted off.
  • I Regret Nothing: Right after she gets eliminated and is about to head to the Bus of Losers, Rosa Maria says that she leaves the show with a clear conscience.
  • Karmic Jackpot: During the finale, Rosa willingly decides to help James despite the fact that he used his and Aiden's relationship in order to get followers meaning he has nobody else to rely on. He eventually repays her by giving her a sum of the million dollars with the intention of helping her raise her daughter with it.
  • Living Emotional Crutch: Acts as this towards her friends, especially Lake.
  • Mama Bear: She has very protective maternal instincts on her friends. She even tries to kick Yul's ass for insulting Maggy until Lake stops her.
  • Mistaken for Thief: The items that had been stolen during the start of "Popping Trust" end up appearing in Rosa Maria's backpack, which gives the other the impression that she was the one who stole them, a fact supported by the fact that she's confirmed to have shoplifted before (to provide for her daughter, but still).
  • My Greatest Failure: She wants to be tender and compassionate towards the adult Riya since she didn't get to say goodbye to Maggy because of the team swap and had gotten into an argument with Lake about her family traditions.
  • Naïve Newcomer: Her audition tape confirms that she didn't watch any of the previous seasons of Disventure Camp or reality tv in general, and is simply auditioning for the show in hopes of getting money for her daughter. This means that her idealism clashes heavily with the morally neutral nature of the show, with her putting trust in most people even when the numbers dwindle down and everyone becomes more ruthless in an attempt to get first place.
  • Nice Girl: One of the friendliest characters of the season, with her main trait being how supportive she is to her friends. She's also the only one in the final 5 who's never done anything questionable throughout the season. In the finale, she decides to be James' supporter in the finale, despite how he treated her in the game. She mostly volunteers because she knows nobody else would and she would feel bad if James had to compete in the challenge alone.
  • Nonconformist Dyed Hair: Rosa has choppy purple hair as the last remembrance of being a Former Teen Rebel.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished:
    • Rosa willingly befriended Riya when the woman felt all alone, gave her the support and company she needed, and had utmost trust in her. Riya repays her by framing her for stealing everyone's belongings before stealing her Immunity Totem, which results in her being eliminated.
    • During the balloon popping game, Rosa decides to do the right thing and tell Hunter about the alliance's plan to ambush him out of the good of her heart. Not only does she end up losing the trust of her other teammates, Riya betrays her and gets her eliminated, with Rosa none the wiser until Riya outright tells her before the Bus of Losers takes her.
  • Older Than They Look: Rosa Maria is 19, but her short stature and youthful looks make people mistake her for someone younger. This is justified, however, since she became a mom at 16.
  • Only in It for the Money: A sympathetic example. Her audition tape shows Rosa selling tacos on the streets, and she eventually up and admits during the tape that she's auditioning for the show because she's running out of ideas on how to get money and wishes to take a shot at the million to provide a better future for her daughter.
  • Only One Name: The only character to avert this, though she's commonly called just "Rosa" by everyone else.
  • Out of Focus: Prior to Episode 8, she's rarely relevant to the plot, at best referencing her backstory and acting as emotional support to her friends. It's also telling that the first time she appears on a thumbnail is for the trailer of Episode 9, with everyone as of the last pre-merge boot Yul (except for a returning Karol) having already been featured at least once on one.
  • Rewarded as a Traitor Deserves: During "Popping Trust", Rosa Maria goes behind Aiden, James, and Riya's back in order to inform Hunter of their plan to ambush him, which causes him to win Immunity and leave everyone else in the chopping block. In turn, Riya betrays her by not only making her out to be the one who stole everyone's belongings, but stealing her Immunity Totem so she couldn't use it to save herself during the elimination ceremony.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: She has pink streaks in her otherwise pure purple hair, and is easily one of the kindest contestants in Season 2.
  • Satellite Character: While Rosa Maria plays a major supporting role in her friends' story arcs, she rarely gets the chance to take the spotlight for herself. The most she was ever focused on is in her elimination episode and even so, Rosa is still looking out for others like usual.
  • Sequel Non-Entity: Notably the only competitor of either season to make it to the final 5 to not return for All-Stars. She declined the offer to return so that she wouldn't leave her daughter again.
  • Shipper on Deck: For Maggy and Kai.
  • Support Party Member: More or less her whole role among the team. Rosa's happy to listen to her friends' worries and concerns, and always makes a point to let them know she'll always have their backs even when things are dark.
  • Team Mom: Rosa Maria is 19, but has a toddler-aged daughter. She also acts motherly and comforting to her friends.
  • Tender Tomboyishness, Foul Femininity: Forms this dynamic with Riya during the latter half of Season 2. Rosa is a gentle and kind soul who doesn't wanna hurt anybody, besides Yul, and doesn't do any morally reprehensible act before she's eliminated. By contrast, Riya begins to exhibit a darker side that's more focused on willing the million, with an explicit willingness to use and hurt everybody else if it means managing to snatch first place, a dark side that gets at its worst during the finale, where she becomes a straight up villain and the final antagonist of the season.
  • Teen Pregnancy: Part of her backstory is that she became pregnant when she was sixteen which is even used for her label "The Teen Mom".
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: Forms this dynamic with both Lake and Riya.
  • Tomboy with a Girly Streak: Rosa Maria wears jeans and a crop top, and has Noncomformist Dyed Hair that only reaches her neck, but she has the same kindness and support that you'd expect from a mother and is an all-around sweetheart.
  • You Are Not Alone: Initially played straight when Rosa Maria befriends Riya so that she wouldn't feel lonely. Eventually subverted after Rosa tells her she'll be alone after the game again upon learning about being framed for stealing others' belongings by her when the latter claims they can sabotage each other during the game but still be friends with each other after the game.

The Asocial
All-Stars
Voiced by: Nympha Mariposa (Spanish), Azalea22 (English)
Team: Green Team (S2), Cyan Team (AS)
Placement: 9th (S2), TBD (AS)
Eliminated in: Episode 7 (S2), TBD (AS)

Tess is a mysterious girl. There are rumors that say she was born with bad luck and is used to tragedies. She lives alone and she has no real friends. She auditioned for Disventure Camp as prove to her psychologist that she was trying to open up to society. She didn't really expect to be accepted.

  • The Aloner: She's not labeled "The Asocial" for nothing. Throughout her whole stay, Tess always keeps to herself and doesn't try to get to know the other campers unless forced to; Hunter has to approach her first in order to befriend her. This is no longer the case come All-Stars, as she willingly joins and interacts with the rest of her team with no prodding required.
  • Aloof Dark-Haired Girl: She's quite tall, has long black hair, and generally acts distant, at least until she really gets to know someone better. She's not nearly as distant in All-Stars, where while she still generally keeps to herself, she's much more willing to be friendly and get involved with her teammates.
  • Artists Are Attractive: The prequel comic focused on her reveals she's an artist of some sort, as she says she sells paintings at works, and she's cute enough to catch Hunter's eye.
  • Bearer of Bad News: At the start of "Give Me Some Space", Tess not only reveals to Ellie that she knows that the Villain Alliance is real, but that Gabby knows too and is justifiably upset about it.
  • Born Unlucky: Her character bio mentions rumors of her being one. However, while she did suffer some tragedies in her life that led her to develop depression, during the show itself this trait ends up being an Informed Attribute.
  • But Not Too Bi: A promotional artwork made by the creators to celebrate Pride Month confirms that Tess is bisexual, but her love interest is Hunter, a guy, and she treats Ally more like a close friend than a potential love interest.
  • Character Development: Per her label, she started off as asocial, isolating herself due to her depression and only joining the series at her therapist’s suggestion. With time, she learned to appreciate Hunter and Ally's attempts at reaching out to her and developed closer bonds with both of them, in spite of their initial Love Triangle dynamics at that. By the time of All-Stars, she's also sociable enough that she becomes The Heart of the Cyan Team, being willing to listen to AND help the rest of her teammates with their problems.
  • Cruel to Be Kind: Tess joins Aiden and Tom in getting Ellie voted off at the end of "Give Me Some Space", strictly in order to help Ellie return to her older self outside of the game before she further spirals in her quest to gain the three million dollars.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Dresses almost entirely in black, has long black hair, which added to her pale skin makes her look rather grim and slightly goth-like. However, she's much more approachable and nicer once you get to know her.
  • Decided by One Vote: After narrowly evading a tie breaker in Cyan Team's first elimination ceremony, Tess is forced to pick a side when the guys, Aiden and Tom, and the girls, Ellie and Gabby, vote for each other. Ultimately, she decides to join the guys and get Ellie voted out, reasoning that it's better for everyone and that staying in the game any longer isn't healthy for Ellie, who she personally knows outside of the game.
  • Decoy Protagonist: She gives some Gwen from Island vibes, is heavily focused on, appears on almost three thumbnails in a row (Episode 2, and sneak peeks for episodes 3 and 4, with Episode 2 featuring only her), and she initially gets way more Ship Tease with Hunter than Ally, even having a place by the center of the campfire in the opening - a place typically used by the main couple. However, she's also the first boot of the merge.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: She eventually warms up to Hunter and Tess and appreciates the two trying their best to get her out of her shell in spite of her initially cold exterior.
  • The Eeyore: She is a very gloomy person, is used to having things go badly for for, and wants little to do with making friends, claiming that there’s no point since they likely won’t see each other again once the season is over. As episode 3 reveals, this is because she is suffering from depression.
  • Emotionless Girl: Can come off this way most of the time due to her depression. This is no longer the case in All-Stars where, while still generally calm and collected, she shows more emotion in general than in Season 2.
  • Fear of Thunder: Subverted. While she seems upset while talking about thunderstorms in an All-Stars episode, she soon suggests doesn't fear them and instead dislikes them because they make her feel "alone" plus "helpless".
  • Foil: To Ellie. They're both stoic women who are starting to patch up their lives after a dark period, but while Tess is The Heart and willing to hear her teammates out, while also being unwilling to hurt or betray everyone, Ellie's The Unfettered who only really trusts Gabby with even that trust having its limits, since she doesn't tell her about the Villain's Alliance and is willing to throw everyone down the bus in order to advance in the game.
  • For Your Own Good: This is her reasoning for getting Ellie voted out in Cyan Team's second elimination ceremony. Given that she knows how Ellie's like outside of the game, and seen the wide difference in how she acts inside the game, she joins the guys in voting off Ellie in order to get her out of the game before she continues spiraling down her ruthless streak.
  • Girls Love Stuffed Animals: She seems to love stuffed animals, as she has many at her house and she states they help her sleep.
  • Goths Have It Hard: Tess isn't technically identified as a goth, but her overall aesthetic and personality fits the trope: she's an orphan who's said to have been Born Unlucky, is depicted as being too tired and melancholic to try and be social, once caused such stress to her psychologist that they had to go to a psychologist, and she takes medication in order to deal with her depression.
  • Graceful Loser: When she learns she's being targeted for elimination, she accepts the outcome and she chooses to spend her last day in the competition happily with her close friends. When she's eliminated, she leaves with a smile, commenting that it's not the last time she'll see Hunter and Ally.
  • Hates Small Talk: Is quite bad at it as a result, as can be seen when Hunter attempts to get to know her for the first time.
  • The Heart: By All-Stars, she has become the main mediator and source of support towards her teammates: she willingly talks to and reasons with Ellie when she realizes she's becoming more competitive, she's the one who ends up helping Aiden cope with James' elimination, and she helps Gabby keep her spirits up after she realizes that the Villain Alliance is real and Ellie lied to them about it.
  • Hidden Depths: It turns out she's surprisingly good at crane games, as she effortlessly wins a plushed toy for Gabby during "Give Me Some Space" in order to give to Ellie.
  • Hidden Disdain Reveal: Considering Tess' neutral reaction to Yul suggesting an alliance with her and Hunter during the relay race, and her general indifference towards everyone else, one could assume that Tess was one of the few people who didn't hate Yul's guts, or at least was neutral towards him. Nope; the episode where she finds out he's been eliminated due to a medical evacuation, she outright says in her confessional that she didn't really like him.
  • I Just Want My Beloved to Be Happy: One way to interpret her telling Ally she's not certain if what she feels towards Hunter is specifically love, and that she'd be fine with Hunter choosing her.
  • I'm Not Here to Make Friends: She makes it pretty clear that she has no interest in making friends during her stay at the camp, as she rationalizes that once she or the others are voted off, they'll never see each other again. Indeed, outside of Hunter and Ally, Tess never tries making other friends before she gets voted off.
  • Innocently Insensitive: While having a small conversation with the rest of the Cyan Team during breakfast in "Strike A Chord", Tess congratulates Tom over being able to work doing what he loves... Within earshot of Ellie, who not only isn't working her actual dream, fashion designing, but is stuck in the same miserable situation she found herself in Season 1.
  • I Work Alone: Initially prefers to keep to herself, distancing herself from others and claiming that there’s no point making friends with each other when they’ll likely lose contact once the season ends anyway. Her eventual friendships with Hunter and Ally help her to grow out of this.
  • Leave Me Alone!: Tells Hunter to leave her alone in a fairly polite manner at the start of Episode 2 and to find someone else who'd actually want to socialize. She eventually grows to appreciate his and Ally's attempts at befriending her, though.
  • Living Emotional Crutch: While not to the extent of Rosa Maria, Tess has become this by All-Stars, being a confidant for all her team members as well as Ally and giving them advice and support.
  • Love Triangle: Is a part of one with Hunter and Ally.
  • Morton's Fork: Tess gets placed in quite the predicament during episode 3 of All-Stars: The Cyan Team ends up losing the challenge, so they have to vote one person out. The boys are targeted, with Lake suggesting Tom while Ellie suggests Aiden. Then, Ellie puts everyone in a rock and hard place by revealing the girls alliance and Lake's intention to vote out them, meaning at this point Tess either follows along with Ellie's plan and votes for Lake, or betrays Ellie and votes for her... Which risks a tiebreaker between Ellie and Lake that she could potentially win. Tess ultimately votes for Tom, preferring not to pick a side.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: She gets Ellie voted out in "Give Me Some Space" in order to stop Ellie from further falling down her competitive persona. However, this blatant betrayal of trust to both Ellie and Gabby causes Gabby to see her, Tom and Aiden as traitors, and decides to try and be Ellie's replacement in the Villain Alliance, giving all the teams a potential new problem to deal with.
  • The Not-Love Interest: In spite of the initial Ship Tease with Hunter, she does not end up as Hunter's girlfriend and remains platonic friends with him and Ally.
  • Not So Above It All: Even she cracks a smile when James is forced to run around the stage butt-naked during the Queen challenge.
  • Only Sane Woman: The most level headed member of the Cyan team in All-Stars.
  • Parental Abandonment: In episode 4 of Season 2, it's revealed that Tess is an orphan.
  • Perpetual Frowner: Tess isn't the most emotionally open person, so she normally has a stoic frown on her face 24/7. This is no longer the case in All-Stars as, while her expression does become more neutral in general, she rarely outright frowns and is sometimes seen smiling as well.
  • Prim and Proper Bun: Her long hair has been tied up into a bun as of All-Stars, one year after Season 2.
  • Romantic False Lead: Per above, she does not end up with Hunter in spite of their Ship Tease starting even before that of his and Ally's.
  • Satellite Character: As a consequence of being "The Asocial", Tess never develops a proper friendship/relationship with anybody that isn't Hunter or Ally, meaning most of her interactions are relegated to them alone. This is heavily rectified in All-Stars, where she not only doesn't stay glued to Ally and Hunter due to being placed in different teams, but she makes an effort to actually interact with the rest of her teammates.
  • Ship Tease: With Hunter, even as early as in the opening, taking the place of the usual main couple by the center of the bonfire. Though by the time of her boot, the two of them don’t really get together.
  • The Stoic: Unless she's around her close friends, she rarely changes her default facial expression and tone of voice.
  • Took a Level in Cheerfulness: Tess is notably much happier, laidback, and shown to be smiling more often by the time of All-Stars.
  • True Companions: With Hunter and Ally. They're the two people in the camp who both approached her first and helped her deal with both her issues and their Love Triangle dilemma and by the time she gets voted off the camp, she's calm and happy about it because, in her own words, it's not the last time they'll see each other.
  • We Will Meet Again: A notable indication of her Character Development. When she first arrived at the show, she didn't wanna make friends because she believed that once the show was over, they would never see each other again. When she gets voted off and Hunter and Ally see her off, Tess tells them not to be sad, smiling as she tells them that they will see each other again someday.

    Yul

The Korean Dancer
All-Stars
Voiced by: Camilo Jara (Spanish), Michael Horowitz (English)
Label: The Korean Dancer
Team: Green Team (S2 Ep. 1-3), Orange Team (S2 Ep. 4 - Onwards), Yellow Team (AS)
Placement: 10th (S2), TBD (AS)
Eliminated in: Episode 5 (S2), TBA (AS)

Yul is a Korean dancer who has worked with very famous singers. His choreographies have millions of views on Instagram. He is only 20 years old, and he has managed to become a great dance icon. But is Yul really what appears to be on social media?

  • Asian Airhead: Downplayed. Yul is Korean and he isn't necessarily dumb, as he manages to manipulate most people with relative ease while he's in the game, but his overwhelming arrogance and bullying tendencies leads him to both make enemies out of everyone and target people who are more than capable of kicking his ass, like Maggy. Emily even lampshades the "Airhead" part.
  • Asian Rudeness: He's of Korean descent and his attitude is far from decent, often offending and antagonising others for little to no reason.
  • Asshole Victim: Is the one who ends up poisoned instead of Aiden as he had planned. However, given how much of an asshole he was to everyone, it's seen as deserved and he gets no sympathy from anyone.
  • Ambiguously Bi: Either this or Ambiguously Gay. Yul's crop-top, slightly effeminate voice, and him being one of the only male contestants in the series to not shown interest in a female contestant lead to some people, particularly Jake and Riya, to assume he was gay. While he does have two girlfriends in a former one and a current one in Grett, the latter turns out to be a Publicity Stunt Relationship in order to regain his fans after his nasty behavior caused him to lose favor in social media, and the former only has a brief mention about him forcing her to get plastic surgery then breaking up with her when it went wrong, making it unclear if he ever loved her.
  • And There Was Much Rejoicing: When Yul gets eliminated due to James giving him the poisoned mushrooms meant for Aiden, hardly anybody is sad to see him go. Most are either glad to see him gone or, in Hunter's case, get worried because the easiest elimination target is out and thus they could be next.
  • Bad Influencer: He is no role model on social media to say the least as evidenced when he only joined the season when he pushed a grandma down an escalator but refuses to tone down his behaviour since he believes nobody from Korea is going to watch the show anyway.
  • Bare Midriffs Are Feminine: A rare gender-inverted example with Yul wearing a flaming crop top that exposes his stomach and midriff-revealing pajamas, adding to his Camp Straight appearance. In All-Stars, he lampshades the part about wearing a crop top.
  • Beauty Is Never Tarnished: A notable aversion. After receiving a punch in the eye by Maggy, Yul gets a black eye that lasts until his own elimination, one episode later.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: Yul has all the makings of a decent main antagonist; he's a dick to everyone, antagonizes people he thinks are a threat to him, and strategically manipulates people whom he thinks can help him on a whim. However, his attitude leaves him immediately Hated by All, making it no wonder he ranked tenth place.
  • The Bully: Actively antagonizes everyone in the camp, whether it's in his best interest to do so or not.
  • Bullying a Dragon: He bullies everyone, but his primary target during the early episode was Maggy, a hulking giant with enough strength to snap him in two with her bare hands. He gets a black eye for his efforts when Maggy is eliminated and his attempt to do so during the finale results in Maggy giving him a subtle threat, prompting him to shut up.
  • Butt-Monkey: As punishment for being the most unlikeable contestant on the show, he's the most frequent victim of slapstick comedy.
  • Card-Carrying Jerkass: Give Karol and Riya some credit, at least they can act friendly and not make an enemy out of people unless they feel they're a threat. Yul doesn't even pretend to be friendly, he's just an untepentant asshole who bullies everyone without a shred of remorse.
  • Camp Straight: Has an effeminate voice and mannerisms, specialises in choreography and wears a crop top but was mentioned to have an ex-girlfriend in "Truth Hurts" and started dating Grett before All-Stars.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: It's implied Yul has one since the trivia challenge reveals he and his family were North Korean refugees but that doesn't excuse his horrible behavior and actions now.
  • Deconstructed Character Archetype: All-Stars turns him into one for the Politically Incorrect Villain. During his stay in Season 2, Yul makes a lot of rather insensitive comments about his fellow contestants, from thinking Karol's being rude due to menopause to claiming Rosa being a former thief isn't surprising since she's a Latina. However, while the finale of the season implies he got some followers back, he either was lying to himself or even his followers got tired of his antics, since his social media reception in All-Stars is so low that he's forced to act like Grett's boyfriend in order to regain some of that favor, with his nasty personality and inability to not put his foot where his mouth is additionally making his manager [[Spoiler:assign Emily to watch over him and ensure he doesn't ruin his relationship with Grett in exchange for helping her with something]].
  • Did Not Think This Through: Feeling threatened by Aiden and Lake who believe they will vote him off, Yul plans on slipping poisonous mushrooms into the former's food to force a Non-Gameplay Elimination and save his own skin. A solid scheme that probably would have worked if he hadn't ordered James to poison Aiden (The guy he has a growing crush on) over Lake (someone he barely knew), or better yet secretly do the dirty work himself, which caused James to double-cross Yul and poison him instead.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: His devious attitude and schemes would make him a contender as the season's main antagonist but he's merely the first of which after being eliminated and medically evacuated in the fifth episode as the last pre-merger boot.
  • Domestic Abuser: The trivia challenge reveals that he forced his ex-girlfriend to get plastic surgery, only to break up with her when the surgery went wrong. In All-Stars, Yul is also a very emotionally abusive and distant boyfriend towards Grett.
  • Dominance Through Furniture: Reluctantly becomes Kristal's footstool as one of the dares in the Queen's challenge.
  • Elder Abuse: The incident that got him canceled and made him come onto the show to salvage what's left of his reputation is the time he pushed a grandma down an escalator in a crowded mall. Judging by how he has zero remorse for his actions and is in fact even proud of it, Yul purely did it just because.
  • Evil Counterpart: He acts like one to James. Both are a Bad Influencer with pretty shady character, but while James eventually redeems himself into a nicer character, Yul remains unpleasant and evil the whole way through. They also contrast in the way they deal with their love interests: James eventually comes to see Aiden as his one true love, while Yul briefly mentions having had a girlfriend he broke up with when her plastic surgery, which he demanded her to do, went wrong, and his later relationship with Grett shows him to not be the most supportive boyfriend either. Finally, [[Spoiler:both are involved in a Publicity Stunt Relationship at one point, James in Season 2 with Aiden, and Yul in All-Stars with Grett. However, while James himself started the relationship and eventually came to regret it when he fell in love for Aiden for real, Yul has nothing but hatred towards Grett, but has had the relationship forced upon him by his manager in order to regain what little social media approval he has left, with Emily added to act as an intermediary in order to ensure that Yul himself doesn't end the relationship]].
  • Evil Laugh: Yul has one that sounds like a haughty Noblewoman's Laugh, usually when cracking up at his own insults and schemes or other people's misfortune.
  • Even Evil Can Be Loved: Despite the fact that Yul's just as horrible as he used to be back in Season 2, Grett seems to be genuinely in love with him, which makes it much more upsetting when it turns out the feeling is not shared, and Yul is only dating her in order to regain his public approval.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Subverted. Despite being a manipulative Politically Incorrect Villain, Yul seems to care for his girlfriend Grett, as he threatens Miriam when she calls her a "human hemorrhoid". He also smiles when Grett tells her they "still look good together" and hugs him. However, it's later revealed he's emotionally abusive and distant towards her, even having no issue smacking her hand. He also forces her to vote off Miriam (who he was voting off), seems to find kissing her repulsive, and describes her as a "two out of ten".
  • Everyone Has Standards: Yul was having a field day with everyone's exposed secrets in the trivia challenge but even he was horrified when Kristal insensitively asks which of the Orange Team underwent a sex change operation, not saying anything offensive for once and looking just as concerned as his teammates. Although, this could be him not risking his already-endangered online reputation by acting transphobic on national television.
  • Insane Troll Logic: He claims he doesn't bother trying to clean up his act during Season 2, despite being sent to do just that, because he doesn't feel like anybody from Korea is going to watch the show. He doesn't seem to consider that his followers may consist of more than just people from Korea, and thus his social media reputation ends up stuck at rock bottom so hard that he's forced to pursue a Publicity Stunt Relationship with Grett in order to salvage what little approval he has left.
  • Flat Character: Yul is an arrogant bully who antagonizes everyone, and is good at dancing. That's all there is to Yul during the first few episodes, and he's exactly the same come the finale.
  • For the Evulz: There was no rhyme or reason for him to push an innocent old lady down an escalator but he did and was even proud of it. He also likes to rile people up with his insults even though it brings him no benefit in the long run.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: In both of his alliances and teams alike, there's no absolutely one who would actually vouch for him because he is just that horrible:
    • Hunter and Tess clearly can't stand Yul and only put up with him for the voting advantage as well as his unlikability providing them a shield from being targeted at elimination. Needless to say, they don't miss him in the slightest when the team switch and his subsequent elimination happens.
    • While James was initially more receptive to him, their alliance becomes incredibly short-lived once Yul resorts to borderline life-threatening tactics, namely poisoning Aiden in order to send him to the hospital. This was more than enough for James to enact the plan on Yul himself without remorse.
  • Hated by All: To no surprise, his attitude leaves him making enemies only.
  • Hates Everyone Equally: There's not a single person in the camp that Yul isn't mean to, targeting even sweethearts like Maggy and Rosa Maria just for his own entertainment.
  • Hate Sink: Yul is a plain ol' one-dimensional bully with zero redeeming qualities. In the first episode alone, he calls Maggy an "Ogre" without prompt and proudly proclaims how he pushed a grandma down a mall escalator For the Evulz. It's no wonder why nobody missed him once he was eliminated.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: His plan to poison Aiden in order to have him medically evacuated backfires horribly when he makes James carry out the misdeed, only for him to change targets and poisons Yul instead.
  • Human Shield: He's used as one by his teammates in Episode 7 of All-Stars.
  • Informed Deformity: Fiore calls him "pimply", but he doesn't have visible pimples.
  • Jerkass: His defining and only personality trait which made him unsurprisingly Hated by All.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Him snapping at Kai interacting with Maggy during the challenge where everyone must stay awake is mostly him being a paranoid prick, but he's not exactly wrong. Maggy and Kai are on opposite teams, which is problematic enough, but Maggy is noted to be stupidly strong, meaning anybody who gets on her good side and support would have a significant advantage over everyone else.
  • Karmic Butt-Monkey: Yul is a nasty person to everyone, and semi-frequently gets his just desserts. In just his debut season, he's stunned when Connor calls him out over trying to pick a fight with Kai over him talking with Maggy. Kai also verbally tears him apart for bullying Maggy in the kissing challenge and Maggy later sucker punches him when he beats her in rock, paper, scissors to decide who gets eliminated. James even betrays him by giving him the poisoned mushrooms meant for Aiden, causing him to be eliminated via a medical evacuation. Then, a light falls down on his foot in Episode 6 of All-Stars, he's used as a Human Shield in Episode 7 and his teammates force him to grab a clue in Episode 8, laughing at him as he falls down doing so.
  • Kick the Dog: His general behavior, especially when targeted towards Maggy.
  • Laser-Guided Karma:
    • After bullying her throughout the competition for his own amusement followed by eliminating her in "Truth Hurts", Maggy snaps and sucker-punches Yul in the face and left him a nasty black eye. The next episode has James, the only person who was willing to be his ally, giving him severe food poisoning that directly lead to his elimination upon learning Yul's plan to do the same to Aiden.
    • After getting away with mistreating Grett for several episodes, a light falls down on his foot after Yellow Team's performance in Episode 6.
  • Manipulative Bastard: After switching teams, he convinces Aiden to vote off James knowing he has a certain dislike towards him. What Aiden didn't know was Yul and James were in cahoots and made him throw his vote to force a tie-breaker between Yul and Maggy.
  • Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: The Camp Straight feminine boy to Karol's Butch Lesbian masculine girl.
  • Meaningful Name: Yul means either "fire" or "ten" in Korean with the former referencing a multitude of things like his flame-patterned crop top, how he insults and enrages others and being under fire online for the escalator incident while the latter refers to how he placed tenth in the season.
  • Mistaken for Gay: Courtesy of his Camp Straight behavior, not only did many of the fans in real life mistake him as gay, but so did Riya and Jake (who's gay himself) In-Universe.
  • Never My Fault: His strategy of dealing with the consequences of acting as a Jerkass on international TV is blaming his manager, claiming he told him how to behave and what to say, and saying that he's replaced him with a better one since.
  • Noblewoman's Laugh: He has quite the haughty, high-pitched Evil Laugh thanks to his effeminate voice.
  • Non-Gameplay Elimination: Tried invoking the trope on Aiden by means of food-poisoning in "You Are A Monster!" but ended up the one needing a one-way trip to the hospital instead thanks to James. He would have been eliminated either way as everyone on his team had voted against him.
  • Odd Couple: Aside from both being one of the antagonists of their respective casts (and both being eliminated first out of them), Yul and Grett have nothing in common and neither seems like the type to genuinely love someone. In spite of that, they became a couple in a Time Skip before All-Stars.
  • Official Couple: With Grett post-Time Skip, much to the shock of everyone.
  • Pet the Dog: Zig-zagged. Despite not liking Aiden, if his failed attempt at poisoning him was any indication, he still supported him in the finale only because he hates James and Riya more for personally wronging him. However, Yul smiles as opposed to everyone's shocked reactions when Aiden is dangling over the cliff, meaning he doesn't mind if Aiden falls to his death.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: Zig-zagged. He has no problem mocking Rosa Maria (a Latina) as unsurprisingly stereotypical for shoplifting to support her daughter but draws the line at making fun of the fact that one of his teammates had sex reassignment surgery. However, it's revealed in the first episode of All-Stars that Yul finds LGBTQIA+ people "disgusting". He also seems ageist as he condescendingly calls Miriam (who's old) "granny", proudly says she reminds him of an old lady he pushed down an escalator, and later refers to her an "old hag".
  • Precision F-Strike: For all of his insulting remarks, Yul never swore until the finale where he delivers one to James for double-crossing and eliminating him way back in "You Are A Monster!".
Yul: I'd support you if you didn't poison me. F*ck you for that, loser!
  • Small Name, Big Ego: His dancing and choreography prowess has given him an ego the size of Jupiter, making him believe that he's better than the other campers even though he's said to be popular in Korea only.
  • Smug Snake: Yul is manipulative and believes that he has the one million dollar price in the bag and that he can use everyone to get it, but he's really just a bully who doesn't know when to shut up.
  • Stepford Smiler: In All-Stars, he sometimes forces a smile to keep up the appearance of his new politically-correct persona.
  • Stupid Evil: His Didn't Think This Through example described earlier aside, he can't stop behaving in a Politically Incorrect Villain way, which costs him his social game on the show as well as many potential contracts. He requires Emily's help to avoid that because he's just that bad at behaving.
  • Tampering with Food and Drink: He eventually devises a plan to get rid of Aiden by giving him food poisoning from eating a wild mushroom. The only reason this doesn't work is because he has James deliver the food, before promptly switching the mushrooms and having Yul eat it instead.
  • Token Evil Teammate: The only truly evil member of the otherwise peaceful Green Team until he was transferred to the Orange Team.
  • Virgin-Shaming: Laughs at Lake and Aiden for having their First Kiss in "The Kiss-a-thon" and calls them virgins for it.
  • Vomit Indiscretion Shot: He pukes his guts out from food poisoning as a result of eating a wild mushroom meant for Aiden, which eventually leads to his elimination.
  • Would Harm a Senior: He threatens Miriam (who's in her seventies) when she insults Grett in All-Stars. While he didn't through with it, he also once pushed an old woman down an escalator.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: He fires Emily from helping him (alongside his new manager) improve his image.
