Main Characters

    Agent Opal

Opal

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_3188.jpg
Played by: Valentina Herrera
One of the main characters of Season 3. She and Agent Omar used to work in the Arctic precinct until they got transferred to the newly-created Mobile Unit department.
  • The Ace: She is seen as this by The Shadow.
  • Agent Mulder: She believes in the 44-leaf clover and wishes to find it, and eventually does along with her Omar, Oswald and Orla.
  • Ascended Fangirl: She is a big fan of Soundcheck and gets the chance to meet them in "Music of Sound". She later helps the members of the band come back together when Orla inadvertently makes them break up.
  • Better with Non-Human Company: Implied and inverted. Opal is fine with other human beings (unless they're villains) and gets along with them well, but the "How to Keep Your Squad Happy" Training Video implies that she isn't too fond of animals, as she previously told Omar that he can get any pet he wants provided that she can't see it.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Making this girl angry is a very, very bad idea.
  • Big Sister Instinct: An exaggerated example with Olizabeth. Opal refused to let her fire big gadgets, play Capture the Flag with a laser chicken, or even play the tuba in band class because she was too afraid that Olizabeth would get hurt. Her fear is somewhat justified by the fact that Odd Squad is a deadly organization that can lead to any employee's untimely death, but it was too much for Olizabeth and she decided to turn to villainy instead. Once Opal realizes what she's done, the two reconcile.
  • Blood Knight: Has shades of this, as she is often the first to throw down against, and antagonize, villains.
  • But for Me, It Was Tuesday: By "It's Not Easy Being Chill", fighting oddness becomes something she regularly engages in and loves doing, which is quite a big jump considering she never had to fight oddness when working in the Arctic.
  • Cain and Abel: The Abel to The Shadow's Cain. Compared to her sister, Opal is far more benevolent and kind.
  • Captain's Log: Starts one in "It's Not Easy Being Chill" which ends up being the catalyst for The Shadow's Heel–Face Turn.
  • Catchphrase: "We are an elite team of agents..." There's a whole monologue to follow, but she rarely gets past the above sentence.
  • Competition Freak: She can get very competitive at times, and it can be hard to make her develop common sense. The episode "Mr. Unpredictable" confirms that she's well aware of this flaw, but is also quick to deny it when she is called out on it.
  • Create Your Own Villain: The Shadow mentions that Opal made her who she is. Come "End of the Road" and it's revealed that her words hold merit — Opal's consistent sheltering of her when the two were agents-in-training caused her to perform a Face–Heel Turn and become a villain, something Opal would never dream of doing.
  • Cute, but Cacophonic: Opal may be adorable, but her screaming and yelling could put Oprah to shame in terms of volume. She's easily one of the loudest agents on the show.
  • Desperately Looking for a Purpose in Life: Her main goal is to be noticed by the Big O so she will be transferred to another Odd Squad precinct where she can put her skills to better use. By the end of the season premiere, she ends up accomplishing this by being transferred not into a different precinct, but into an entire newly-created department.
  • Genki Girl: Although she's not hyperactive all the time like Olympia, Opal can get very excitable and noisy.
  • Go-Getter Girl: She is very much driven by ambition, starting from when she was working at Arctic Mr. O's Headquarters and continuing to be ambitious when becoming a part of the Mobile Unit department.
  • Hidden Depths: When attempting to stall Orchid in "Slides and Ladders", a whiteboard is shown as Opal rattles off answers for her question of how to beat a laser chicken. Considering the drawings and complicated math equations, it's implied that Opal may have more mathematical talent than she lets on (or at the very least, artistic talent).
  • Jumped at the Call: As soon as she finds out that Oswald had discovered the map to the 44-leaf clover, she's quick to jump on board and begin setting out on an adventure to New York City with no regard for what Arctic Mr. O would think. She keeps this trait upon being promoted to the Mobile Unit department.
  • The Leader: Once the Mobile Unit is formed, she takes on the role as the de facto leader of the team up until her departure, when Orla becomes her successor in the role. However, according to the pitch bible for Season 3, she can be very possessive about her leader status and has a very hard time giving up control to her teammates.
  • Living Legend: She's not one herself, but her intent with the Mobile Unit department is to make others view it as one. Given how other agents view it and how "Odd Off the Press" made it become famous enough to get press conferences, it's safe to say she succeeded.
  • Musical Assassin: In "Wax On Wax Odd", Opal is taught how to play the keyboard by way of Orla teaching her how to make pizza the day prior, and uses her newfound ability to hypnotize and drive away a giant purple snake.
  • Numerological Motif: 44, which is her badge number. She also vowed to save and protect the 44-leaf clover, an ancient Odd Squad artifact. Relatedly, 43 is the Arc Number for Season 1 and is associated with Odd Todd, the season's Big Bad who was Olive's former partner — and The Shadow, Season 3's Big Bad, is Opal's younger sister.
  • Pen Pals: Before the events of Season 3, she exchanged letters with Oswald. One of the things they discussed is the location of the 44-leaf clover, which kickstarts the plot of "Odd Beginnings".
  • Plucky Girl: She is very determined and will often charge into cases head-on, dragging her teammates behind her regardless of if they're ready or not. Even if things aren't working out in her favor, she almost never gives up and is always ready to kick odd butt.
  • Put on a Bus: She leaves the Mobile Unit in "End of the Road" in order to stay behind with her sister, reverse the damage she caused in other countries, and make amends with her.
  • Really Fond of Sleeping: The "Powering Through a Power Nap" Training Video reveals that she has perfected the art of "power napping", having the ability to take short, 1-minute naps and wake up well-rested. An interview video released before the premiere of Season 3 also reveals that her favorite gadget is the Sleep-inator.
  • The Perfectionist: Even moreso than Olympia. She views OSMU in very high standards and strives for the team to be perfect, to such an extent where it's considered a Fatal Flaw in some cases. This is evident in episodes such as "Running on Empty" and "Down the Tubes" and even gets a deconstruction in "Jeremy".
  • Reassigned to Antarctica: She used to work in the Arctic Odd Squad Headquarters with Omar prior to being moved to the new Mobile Unit department.
  • Safety Worst: The season finale reveals that the reason her sister became a villain was because Opal was overprotective of her to excessive degrees when the two were attending the Odd Squad Academy.
  • Straight Man: To Omar.
  • Suddenly Bilingual: She can understand and speak Spanish, although she only demonstrates it in "The Void".
  • True Companions: With Omar, who was her sole partner when the two of them were working in the Arctic. Their partner bond is so strong that when Omar was feeling upset about not being able to buy a souvenir in "Train of Thoughts", Opal decided to go full Determinator and find him one because she knows how important souvenirs are to him.
  • Unknown Rival: Unbeknownst to her, the Shadow has a grudge against her. The reason for this is set up as the main mystery for season 3.

    Agent Omar

Omar

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_3189.jpg
Played by: Jayce Alexander
One of the main characters of Season 3, he and Agent Opal used to work at the Arctic precinct until they got transferred to the newly-created Mobile Unit department.
  • Big Eater: It's a trait he shares with one of his predecessors, Otto.
  • Cute, but Cacophonic: Like Opal, he's one of the loudest agents on the show and has a tendency to scream a lot.
  • Demoted to Extra: In Season 2 of OddTube. He was originally meant to be the host before Orla was made to be the host instead, and he only appears in two episodes as a side character.
  • The Ditz: Omar isn't very bright. For example, in "Running on Empty", he tries to use porous things to catch the blob.
  • The Good King: In "Odd Squad in the Shadows", Omar becomes this to the rest of the Shadow League, going so far as to tack on a "please" to his orders. He even wears a Cool Crown made out of office supplies.
  • Hidden Depths: "The Void" reveals that unlike the rest of OSMU, Omar can't rollerskate. He manages to learn how to with the help of Oneta.
  • The Lancer: Serves as a comical Foil to everyone in the team no matter who he's paired with, but especially Opal.
  • The Lightfooted: It's shown in "Jeremy" that Omar is very agile and dodges attacks effortlessly, to such an extent that it leaves Monsieur Papier-Mache exhausted.
  • Mellow Fellow: Not as much as other agents like Ocean, but Omar considers himself to be very chill and only a sparse couple things can get him riled up. Because he's so mellow, he serves as a mediator for arguments and a key to diffusing tension-filled situations.
  • Nice Guy: Very friendly and affable.
  • Only Sane Man: Sometimes serves this role to Opal.
  • Perpetual Smiler: He's pretty much always smiling.
  • The Pollyanna: He always looks on the bright side of things. This was true even when he was working in the Arctic.
  • The Power of Friendship: Odd Squad as an organization runs on this as an MO, but Omar is one of the few agents who has it as his own MO and sticks by it. His Catchphrase when answering his phone is "Omar's House of Friendship", and "Running on Empty" even has him separating him and his teammates into two separate groups just so they can all bond with each other (due to the fact that he and Opal have been partners since before the season began), something that would become a mainstay in future episodes.
  • Suddenly Bilingual: Averted in his case, as he is the only agent of the Mobile Unit who can't speak Spanish up until he learns how to in "The Void".
  • Superhero Trophy Shelf: Omar is defined by his love of collecting souvenirs, which he keeps on the other side of the hidden wall located in the Mobile Unit van (and which he refers to as "Omar's House of Awesomeness"). He always tries to get at least one from every location he and the rest of the Mobile Unit visits. Not being able to get one, for whatever reason, immediately sours his optimism, and if the reactions of Opal and Oswald when inquiring about taking him to Crimson Carl's house with them in "Odd Squad in the Shadows" are any indication, it's a sore spot for him.
  • Super Gullible: Due to his ditzy nature, he's known to be gullible at times, which is something that the other agents like to exploit for their own benefit.
  • Team Spirit: The pitch bible implies that when working in Arctic Mr. O's Headquarters, he didn't feel like he was a part of a team. When he gets promoted to the Mobile Unit department, he's more than thrilled to be working in a team.
  • Vibrant Orange: Omar is cheerful, upbeat and cool. He wears an orange tie, shoes and belt, and the department he's in is associated with the color orange.
  • Vocal Evolution: His voice gets deeper beginning with "Odd Off The Press".

    Agent Oswald

Oswald

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_3242_1.jpg
Played by: Gavin MacIver-Wright
One of the main characters of Season 3. He used to work at the Odd Squad Museum of Natural Odd in New York City as a "library-museum person", having left to join Agents Opal and Omar on their quest to find the 44-leaf clover.
  • Actor Allusion: Oswald states in "The Thrill of the Face" that he has a twin brother who is a tube operator. This is a direct reference to "Hands on a Desk Chair", where O'Paddy, one of Precinct 13579's tube operators, is introduced, who is also played by Gavin MacIver-Wright.
  • Badass Bookworm: Oswald loves reading and prefers to stay out of combat rather than jump right into it, but make no mistake — when he has to fight, he's right on par with the rest of his teammates.
  • Big Eater: While not to the extent of those like Omar and Otto — he doesn't let food distract him from the task at hand — he can pack away quite a bit of food. The episode "Raising the Bar" has him eating three pies in one sitting and still being hungry for a fourth one.
  • Cowardly Lion: He can be fearful at times, but loves to solve cases regardless.
  • Dancing Royalty: Oswald absolutely loves to dance and is quite skilled at it, especially concerning the robot dance. However, when Opal, Omar and Orla praise him on it, he claims that his supposed "robot dance" are actually his normal dance moves. He improves his skill by "Box Trot", though.
  • Does Not Like Spam: He doesn't like pineapple juice.
  • Expy: Shares some traits with Oscar, being The Smart Guy of the group who is also quite timid.
  • Fiery Redhead: Inverted. Oswald has red hair, but he is scared and timid.
  • Hidden Depths: "Oswald in the Machine" shows that he's quite skilled at doing the robot dance.
    • He also likes throwing snowballs and watching people catch them, as revealed in "Running on Empty".
  • Innocent Blue Eyes: He's the second main character of the show to have blue eyes, the first being Otis — most every other main character has brown eyes.
  • Insufferable Genius: The pitch bible reveals that his character was originally going to be one, often talking endlessly about certain things to the point where it takes him a long time to actually take action against something. In the show itself, he's a genius, but far from insufferable and self-absorbed.
  • In the Blood: According to him, sitting and working behind a desk is a fate passed down to him from his twin brother, who works as a tube operator in Precinct 13579.
  • Jumped at the Call: When Opal and Omar meet him for the first time and explain their mission to save the 44-leaf clover, he immediately jumps at the chance of seeing places outside of the Museum of Natural Odd, since he's confined to sitting at the front desk all day. This ends up biting him big-time in "The Thrill of the Face" when he realizes that he never considered the consequences of exploring the world and how much danger comes with it, and how much that would terrify him.
  • Only Sane Man: Serves as this to Opal, Omar and Orla at various points.
  • Red Is Heroic: He has red hair and is one of the good guys.
  • Socially Awkward Hero: Due to being so used to working alone and being pushed into a situation with teammates and dealing with the outside community, he can come off as awkward but charming.
  • Sleepyhead: In "Down the Tubes", he enters Tube Station 5, the home of a family, and falls asleep from exhaustion on their table. The end of the episode shows him still asleep while riding the tubes, and not even Orla — who is known for being loud and brash — is able to wake him up.
  • The Smart Guy: The smartest of the OSMU team, thanks to all the knowledge he gained from working at the Museum of Natural Odd. He's an expert on porosity, directions, and basic math.
  • This Is Reality: The pitch bible implies that he often tends to apply what he reads about in books to the real world. Unfortunately, in a World of Weirdness, this hardly ever works, and reality often comes to give him a good punch in the gut.
  • Youthful Freckles: He has some freckles on his face.

    Agent Orla

Orla

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/agent_orla.jpg
Played by: Alyssa Hidalgo
One of the main characters of Season 3. She is the eldest member of the group, being 500 years old.

  • 24-Hour Armor: When she is transferred to the new Mobile Unit department, she keeps a piece of shoulder armor that runs down her forearm, which she never takes off.
  • The Anticipator: In "Wax On Wax Odd", she explains to her teammates that she overheard a conversation between a sorcerer villain and a Medusa villainess as they make plans to cause oddness 450 years in the future. As a result, she wrote down the date they decided to cause oddness in her day planner, and when the Mobile Unit is formed in the present day, she trains them Wax On, Wax Off-style in order to prepare them for the oddities to come. It's also implied in the episode that she planned for her, Opal, Omar and Oswald to come together as a team, but it's never confirmed.
  • Arc Symbol: In the second half of the season, Orla is sometimes shown wearing a sundial watch in place of her usual high-tech smartwatch as a Running Gag. She also has "Wait one tiny little notch on the sundial!" as one of her Catchphrases. Furthermore, the introduction of another ancient Odd Squad artifact known as the Golden Sundial is part of a Story Arc which focuses on her.
  • Badass Adorable: She's a kid who is a fierce and tough ancient warrior. Perhaps the best example of this in action is "Down the Tubes", where she manages to deliver a Curb-Stomp Battle to Tennifer by way of destroying her Scrambler in mere seconds without even flinching.
  • Birthday Episode: She has her birthday in "Orla's Birthday."
  • Bizarre Taste in Food: Not that it can be helped since Odd Squad is a World of Weirdness where weird foods are common, but Orla's food preferences are some of the weirdest of any Odd Squad agent. At her 500th birthday party, Omar and Oswald gift her a pie made out of scorpions, and a casting call script for Olando has Orla offering him spider milk pudding as a light snack. That's not to say she doesn't eat normal food though — in "Odd Beginnings: Part 2", Omar teaches Orla about cinnamon buns, and having eaten nuts and berries as her main diet for 400 years, she decides to give them a try and finds them delicious.
  • Bound and Gagged: Her weapon is her Rope-inator, a gadget from ancient times which is made out of stone instead of metal and can instantly trap enemies by tying them up with rope.
  • Brutal Honesty: Orla is definitely not afraid to speak her mind whether what she says will hurt someone or not.
  • But for Me, It Was Tuesday: By "It's Not Easy Being Chill", she views battling numerous oddities as a completely normal thing, which is likely due to all the experience she had guarding the 44-leaf clover.
  • Call a Rabbit a "Smeerp": Being an ancient Odd Squad agent, she does this a lot. Segways to her are "horseless chariots", while brains are "memory balls". It even goes to such an extent where she refers to water — something that's quite common in the Amazon — as "nectar".
  • Catchphrase: Says "Onward ho!" just before setting off on adventure.
    • Also has "Wait one tiny little notch on the sundial!" which was originally a single Call a Rabbit a "Smeerp" moment in "Train of Thoughts" before being upgraded to a catchphrase in the second half of the season to coincide with a Story Arc that focuses on her.
  • Character Blog: Hosts Season 2 of OddTube in place of Olympia.
  • Characterization Marches On: In early episodes of Season 3, she was more of a Blood Knight, reveling in the chance to do fierce battle and being disappointed when cases turned out to be simple with little fighting required, since that's what she was used to as the guardian of the 44-leaf clover. However, over time she has become more sensible and doesn't actively try to find action in cases that require menial tasks to be performed, but can still kick plenty of odd butt when need be.
  • Child Soldiers: Prior to guarding the 44-leaf clover, Orla was in a heated war between Odd Squad agents and villains, all battling to see who could control the clover. It's left ambiguous if there were any casualties since the show has a strict Never Say "Die" policy, but Orla, along with three other agents, made it out alive and was eventually chosen to guard the clover.
  • Clueless Boss: Becomes one in "O for a Day" due to her sheer inexperience at being an Odd Squad Director, believing that the job is easygoing and that there's plenty of time for relaxation.
  • Companion Cube: Had one in the form of Bouldy, a giant boulder situated in her old Amazon Headquarters, until they broke off their friendship for an unexplained reason.
  • Cool Helmet: She wears one as the guardian of the 44-leaf clover, which is known as the "protector's helmet". She sheds it when she becomes part of the Mobile Unit department, though.
  • Creepy Cave: "End of the Road" reveals that she used to live by herself in a dark spacious cave. It's implied that she never liked living there, as she cries when explaining to Opal that had she not helped to form the Mobile Unit, her living situation never would have improved.
  • Does Not Like Spam: She doesn't like pizza.
  • Dreadful Musician: Surprisingly averted — Orla is a very skilled singer, and manages to pull off an awesome duet with Opal in "Slow Your Roll".
  • Dream Walker: "In Your Dreams" has her becoming one along with Osmerelda, entering the dreams of the Little O in order to help her find the Dream Weaver's Bad Dream Machine and free her from her constant nightmares caused by the villainess.
  • Dynamic Entry: Employs this in one of her battle moves, which is known as "Smash and Grab".
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: She wears a braid wrapped in golden wire on one side of her head and a low ponytail on the other side, with the rest of her hair wrapped in a fan bun on the top of her head.
  • Faster Than They Look: Despite the fact that Orla is 500 years old, she has very high stamina and is able to walk and run for long periods of time without getting tired.
  • Fish out of Temporal Water: Being an ancient warrior, she is very unfamiliar with the modern world. Once she becomes a part of the Mobile Unit, she gradually starts to learn about modernity and begins to fit in, which happens quite quickly due to her fast learning skills.
  • Fluffy Tamer: The pitch bible implies this, stating that she has the ability to tame a jaguar. The episode "Slow Your Roll" also has her mentioning how she used to wrestle crocodiles and alligators within the span of a day. Justified due to living in the Amazon for most, if not all, of her life.
  • Knight in Shining Armor: She fits this to a near-T, minus all the romance stuff.
  • The Leader: Takes this position in the group following Opal's departure. She also becomes the temporary leader of OSMU in "Odd Squad in the Shadows".
  • Leeroy Jenkins: Has a tendency to rush through things and be impulsive, which often bites her in the butt more often than not. Her Establishing Character Moment has her immediately charging at Opal, Omar and Oswald and tying them up in rope, mistakenly believing them to be villains despite the fact that they're in professional uniforms and are children like her.
  • Mundane Object Amazement: Give her an explanation of what the Internet is and she won't do so much as bat an eye. Show her how a sandwich is made, on the other hand...
"They put stuff on bread and then put another piece of bread on top of that! Are you guys seeing this?!"
  • The Name Is Bond, James Bond: She initially introduces herself to Opal, Omar and Oswald as "Orla, Agent Orla".
  • No Sense of Humor: Orla doesn't understand humor all that well. Omar's clown antics while he suffers from Clown-itosis in "Into the Odd Woods" fails to make her even do so much as crack a smile, and she can't grasp what makes the classic Chicken Joke so funny.
  • No Social Skills: Comes with being a Fish out of Temporal Water. Upon meeting Soundcheck in "Music of Sound", for example, they extend a fist to her so she can fist-bump them, but instead, she grabs the fist and shakes it as though she's performing a handshake.
  • Pintsized Powerhouse: She is far and away the strongest member of the Odd Squad Mobile Unit.
  • Pubescent Braces: She wears these beginning in "Odd Off The Press", although she refers to them as "tooth armor".
  • Read the Freaking Manual: Orla is definitely not one to read a manual or any sort of book to figure out how something works. However, unlike those like Otis and Otto, she believes it's because that Odd Squad agents in general don't need them.
  • Really 700 Years Old: She looks like a kid, but she's really 500 years old.
  • Scarred Equipment: Her shield is quite run-down compared to her teammates' shields, which isn't helped by the fact that it's made out of wood. The ancient Odd Squad shield she's gifted in "Orla's Birthday" is also littered with scratches and chips.
  • Scary Scorpions: Orla keeps some in a box that she keeps in her Hammerspace spine, which she usually releases (or tries to release, anyway) to settle arguments.
  • Something Only They Would Say: In "Odd Beginnings: Part 2", she asks Opal, Oswald and Omar a question that only an Odd Squad agent could know in order for them to prove that they work for Odd Squad and aren't villains. Her question, however, is surprisingly simple, as she asks what letter all agents' names start with. Naturally, all three of them guess correctly.
  • Spock Speak: Speaks in a fancy and direct way, and doesn't use contractions.
  • Stock Animal Diet: Subverted. Her main diet while living in the Amazon were nuts and berries, but she's a human being, not a bear.
  • Suddenly Bilingual: Along with Opal and Oswald, she is revealed to understand and speak Spanish in "The Void". However, it's justified in her case, since she originally resided in the Amazon rainforest.
    • Zigzagged in "Portalandia", where she seems to understand a sign in the Portal Master store that's written entirely in Japanese, but her English translations are incorrect.
  • Technologically Blind Elders: Mileage varies on whether she could be considered elderly (since she's 500 years old but is still a child), but she has no idea what the Internet is when Opal brings it up. Omar explains that it's like a library, but it works faster and has way more cat videos.
  • Telepathy: She has the ability to communicate via telepathy, as shown in the OddTube episode "Oddness in NYC".
  • Unaffected by Spice: In contrast to Oswald, Orla has a very high heat tolerance. The OddTube episode "Happy Twelve-iversary" even has her chugging a bottle of hot sauce like it's nothing, mistaking it for juice that happens to taste like red peppers.
  • Undying Loyalty: During her Backstory in "The Weight of the World Depends on Orla", it's shown that Orla and Osmond, another agent selected as a candidate for the role of being the 44-leaf clover's guardian, competed for the protector's helmet, and when Osmond supposedly tripped and fell, Orla chose to help him over getting the helmet. Unfortunately Osmond tripping and falling was a Wounded Gazelle Gambit on his part and he manages to get the helmet before her, but Ancient Ms. O, who led Orla's ancient Headquarters, gives it to Orla due to her selflessness. Even in the present day, Orla is shown to be extremely loyal to Odd Squad and to her teammates, and isn't afraid to help them out when they're in peril.
  • Vocal Evolution: Like Omar, her voice gets deeper and becomes more baritone beginning in "Odd Off The Press".
  • You Are in Command Now: In "O for a Day", she is forced to fill in for Seattle Mr. O at his Headquarters, becoming co-Directors with Omar. Since she has no experience being in the Management department, however, she proves to be quite inept at the job.
  • Young Entrepreneur: Becomes one in "Overdue!" where she teams up with Oswald to run stands selling various things in order to get money to pay her library fine as a result of an Extremely Overdue Library Book.

    Oprah / Big O

Oprah / Big O

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/big_o.png
Played by: Millie Davis
The no-nonsense leader of Odd Squad who is strong, kindhearted, and always willing to help her agents out in a pinch.

Tropes applying to her characterization in Odd Squad should go here.

  • The Ageless: According to "Odd Beginnings: Part 2", she can control whether she ages or not, though she prefers not to.
  • Bizarre Taste in Food: Declares blob on fish and chips to be "not bad" in "Running on Empty".
  • Black Boss Lady: She is dark-skinned and is the leader of the entirety of Odd Squad.
  • Busman's Holiday: Her idea of "taking things easy" is fighting off oddness in a place that is absolutely rampant with it.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": She is always referred to as "[the] Big O".
  • Good with Numbers: Comes with the territory of being the head of an organization that deals in mathematics, but special mention goes to "Odd Beginnings: Part 2", which shows her taking one look at a complicated equation on a whiteboard and immediately coming up with the correct answer.
  • Ms. Exposition: Her main role is to provide the Mobile Unit with information on cases.
  • Older Than They Look: She is well over 200, but still looks like a child.
  • One-Letter Name: Referred to by "[the] Big O", though it's downplayed since "Big O" is a title and not a name.
  • Pintsized Powerhouse: The strongest of the main characters by far and away.
  • Proportional Aging: She can choose to age as fast or as slow as she pleases, or not age at all. She spent 231 years not aging so much as a day before she decided to try it out, and ended up stopping once she decided she didn't like it.
  • Put on a Bus: Leaves to help the Odd Squad Space Unit in "Odd Off The Press", and is replaced by Orpita. She is the last original main character to leave the franchise entirely.
  • Really 700 Years Old: She's at least 231 years old, but has the physical appearance of a 13-year-old.
  • Suddenly Bilingual: According to her interview video, she knows at least 45 different languages by the time she starts up the Mobile Unit. However, she never speaks any language other than English in the show proper.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Juiceboxes, her version of alcohol. She has a collection of white-flavored ones in her office that taste like power.
  • Villain in a White Suit: Inverted. Her uniform is predominantly white, but is not a villain and is firmly on the heroes' side.
  • Wolverine Publicity: She remained the face of the show up until she leaves in "Odd Off The Press", at which point she is replaced by Orpita. She does appear on some official material, however.

    Esmerelda Kim / Osmerelda Kim

Click to see her as an Odd Squad agent.
Played by: Glee Dango
A girl who serves as the Running Gag of the season before becoming a member of OSMU, replacing Opal.

  • Accidental Misnaming: "Odd Off The Press" reveals that her real name is actually Osmerelda Kim, and that everyone else has been referring to her as "Esmerelda Kim" by mistake. This is what allows her to be eligible to join Odd Squad, and by extension, the Mobile Unit, as Opal's replacement.
  • Adorably Precocious Child: She's younger than any of the OSMU agents, and yet has a packed schedule that includes various things, like flute practice, swim lessons, and caring for her sister. However, she's still plenty adorable.
  • Ambiguously Absent Parent: Neither her mother nor her father are seen or mentioned. The only adult figure known to exist in her life is her "favorite uncle".
  • Ascended Extra: A teaser image from "Odd Off The Press" reveals that she is no longer a Running Gag character and is now a part of the Odd Squad Mobile Unit, likely having replaced Opal following her departure.
  • Audience Surrogate: Downplayed. Esmerelda isn't an out-and-out surrogate, but her Running Gag of being too busy to join in on Odd Squad's adventures is meant to strike a chord with both kids who are busy with extracurricular activities and with parents who also have busy schedules.
  • Promotion to Parent: Implied to be the case with her sister, as Esmerelda takes responsibility in picking her up from a dentist appointment.
  • Running Gag: Her appearances involve her asking the Mobile Unit if she can join them on their adventures, only for her to realize she has other responsibilities that must come first and ask if she can join them on another date. When the agents shoot down her offer, she gives a nonchalant "Guess it didn't work out" and walks away. The only time she doesn't do this is in the Season 3 finale, where she offers to take the place of Opal following her departure from OSMU. When the agents act hesitant, she leaves them with a "Let me know!" before walking away.
  • Signature Instrument: While she can play a variety of instruments, she is most commonly seen with her flute, which she often uses to play the first ten notes of the show's theme song. Ends up being a powerful weapon in "H2 Oh No".
  • The Smart Guy: In "Odd Off The Press", she is referred to as the "out-of-the-box thinker" of the group.
  • Sucksessor: A zig-zagged example. The Big O initially chose Esmerelda as a top replacement for Orla to work in Odd Squad in the Mobile Unit department, but didn't hire her because she was constantly busy. She, as well as OSMU, are on friendly terms with her, but the latter group is hesitant about letting her join them in the Season 3 finale. Averted as of "Odd Off The Press", where the Mobile Unit is perfectly fine about letting her join and doesn't hate her in any way.
  • Wolverine Publicity: Following the departure of Oprah, and by extension Millie Davis, from the franchise, Osmerelda began serving as the face of the show beginning with the 2023 iteration of the White House Easter Egg Roll, where she was chosen to be the host by PBS. This is due to the fact that, out of the entire cast of the second half of the series, she is one of the youngest and thus can still pass as an Odd Squad agent in both appearance and voice.

Click to see her as the Little O.
Played by: Shazdeh Kapadia
A young girl initially introduced in "It's Not Easy Being Chill" as an agent-in-training at the Odd Squad Academy, then returned in "Odd Off The Press" as the Big O's assistant before being promoted to the role of temporary Big O and given the new name "Little O".

  • Ascended Extra: She was previously a one-shot character in "It's Not Easy Being Chill" before becoming a member of the Main 5 group comprised of her, Osmeralda Kim, Omar, Opal and Oswald.
  • Adorably Precocious Child: Zig-zagged. Orpita is the stand-in leader of all Odd Squad precincts in the world, so she has a load of responsibility on her shoulders and is generally regarded as serious and stern. However, since she is a child, she's prone to fits of immaturity, although it's nowhere near the levels of the Big O before Oprah.
  • Character Development: In "It's Not Easy Being Chill", she was presented as a naive but innocent agent-in-training who was still attending the Odd Squad Academy and wasn't too skilled in the ways of math and Odd Squad as a whole, being more of a Mellow Fellow. Come "Odd Off The Press", she has matured to the point where she becomes the Number Two to the Big O and has a much better understanding of how Odd Squad functions, with her naivety completely gone.
  • Dream Weaver: While it's never stated in the show proper, "In Your Dreams" all but states that she has the ability to engage in lucid dreaming, shaping her own dreams in order to fight back against the aptly-named Dream Weaver, who attempts to turn her dreams into nightmares.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": Upon being promoted to the position of Little O, she is consistently referred to as such, since it's also the name of the title an agent receives upon promotion.
  • Mellow Fellow: In "It's Not Easy Being Chill", she is shown to be very laid-back, and because of it, she takes a liking to Omar. As of "Odd Off The Press", she's become a little less mellow, but still mostly keeps a cool head when tensions run high.
  • Number Two: Takes up this role to the Big O, being tasked with interviewing potential candidates to be her replacement before being chosen herself for the position.
  • Rank Up: She goes from being an agent-in-training, to working in the department of The Big Office as the Big O's assistant, to being the temporary Big O.
  • Stealth Hi/Bye: She loves to employ this in the same vein as Oprah.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: She shares quite a few mannerisms and traits with Oprah, from her love of juice to her frequency to suddenly shout. However, they also have differences — Orpita is more of a Benevolent Boss and is more childish in nature, and she doesn't have the same amount of strength as Oprah. She is also far younger than Oprah, who is over 200 years old.
  • Teen Superspy: While Odd Squad agents are generally regarded as this, it's revealed in "Mission O Possible" that Orpita was once an Odd Squad Special Operations agent.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Juice boxes, similar to Oprah, although it's currently unknown whether it's to the point of her being The Alcoholic. According to "Odd Off The Press", loving juice boxes and having a vast knowledge of them and their flavors is a requirement for being in the position of the Big O.
    • On a more personal level, she also loves grilled halloumi.
  • Villain in a White Suit: Inverted. As the Little O, she wears a white suit, but is in no way villainous.

    Agent Olando

Olando

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2021_07_12_at_19_28_07_odd_off_the_press_pbs_kids_copy_mp4.png
Played by: Ari Resnick
An ancient Odd Squad agent tasked with guarding an Odd Squad artifact known as the Golden Sundial in a desert region.

  • Bizarre Taste in Food: If the casting call script for him is any indication, he enjoys eating things like spider milk pudding and worm salad sandwiches alongside other normal foods like banana bread.
  • Fish out of Temporal Water: Similar to Orla, he is an ancient agent who is unfamiliar with the modern world.
  • Good Is Not Nice: He's employed with Odd Squad and has served as the protector of the Golden Sundial, but he's definitely not the nicest agent in the organization and has very little regard for the safety of his teammates and his friends.
  • Jaded Washout: Part of the crux of his character arc revolves around him not being as heroic as he was centuries ago, where he did battle with creatures like hydras, and wanting to return to the olden times when he was revered as a strong hero.
  • Leeroy Jenkins: Devastatingly so, to a bigger extent than Orla. His impulsive nature gets him and his teammates in trouble often and costs him a lot in terms of friendship and employment.
  • No Listening Skills: Trying to get him to have a Heel Realization or posing an idea to him on how to solve a problem is an absolute lost cause.
  • No Place for Me There: Although he has nothing left to protect inside of it, he is initially afraid to leave his Headquarters behind because he feels he won't have a place in society and he won't fit in. Orla assures him that she felt the exact same way but became a well-meaning, helpful part of society in due time, and that he will as well.
Olando: But, I have been here so long that I am afraid to leave. What if there is no place for me out there?
Orla: Then you will make your own place, as I have.
  • Older Is Better: He firmly believes that the old-fashioned way of doing things is the best way, which is in contrast with Orla, who eventually gets used to the modern way of living in society.
  • Really 700 Years Old: If his comment at the end of "Old Odd, New Tricks" is any indication, he's 500 years old, the same age as Orla, despite the fact that he looks much younger.
  • Secret Handshake: Shares one with Orla in "Sunny Sides Add Up". Presumably it's something that all Odd Squad Protectors share.
  • Sixth Ranger: Takes this role in the team beginning in "Old Odd, New Tricks", and quickly steps out of the role when he becomes fired.
  • Spear Counterpart: Serves as this, as well as an Expy, to Orla, sharing her Leeroy Jenkins behavior.
  • Spock Speak: Like Orla, he does not use contractions and speaks in a very blunt manner.
  • Team Spirit: Averted. Olando doesn't believe in teamwork, citing that he didn't need it and held his I Work Alone mentality for 500 years, so there's no need to change it in modern times in spite of how much Odd Squad has changed. This causes him to be fired from the organization.
  • There Is Another: Orla initially believed that she was the only Odd Squad Ancient Agent left in existence before she learned about Olando and how he's been alive for as long as her. Likewise, it's implied that Olando thought that he too was the Last of His Kind prior to meeting Orla.
  • Turn in Your Badge: He's fired by the Little O at the end of "Old Odd, New Tricks" and angrily hands his badge to her before saying that she and Orla haven't seen the last of him.

    Van Computer

Van Computer

Voiced by: Hattie Kragten
The Mobile Unit van's built-in AI. It controls many features of the van and often aids the agents in numerous ways.

  • Benevolent A.I.: Doesn't have a mean circuit in its system.
  • Computer Voice: Normally, its voice sounds human, but also has a robotic tone to it. When it's low on energy, its voice sounds more robotic, and when it's singing, its voice sounds more human.
  • Expositron 9000: Downplayed. It doesn't give exposition, but relays calls to the agents from the Big O, who serves as Ms. Exposition in nearly every episode.
  • Fun Personified: It thinks of itself as this, and has the ability to turn on multicolored lights and fire streamers, but mileage varies on whether it's true.
Van Computer: Every group needs a Wild Card.
  • Sixth Ranger: If its interview is any indication, it considers itself to be the fifth member of the Odd Squad Mobile Unit and goes to extreme lengths to prove it. However, it generally serves a supporting role to the agents (often relaying calls from the Big O), doesn't help them solve cases often, and isn't employed by the organization in any manner.
  • Smart House: Of a sort. It's not made clear whether the van serves as the Mobile Unit agents' home, but the Van Computer can operate lights and appliances in a similar vein to a house equipped with smart technology.

Minor Characters

    Arctic Mr. O

Arctic Mr. O

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2021_08_18_at_02_55_56_teach_a_man_to_ice_fish_mp4.png
Played by: Ellery Miki-Petite
The Director of the Odd Squad Arctic precinct and Opal and Omar's boss prior to them joining the Mobile Unit in Season 3.

  • The Ditz: Very, very much so, which is directly attributed to him having worked in the Arctic for a long time. Although he's not without his moments of intelligence.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": He is always referred to as "Arctic Mr. O". His actual name has not been revealed.
  • Incompetence, Inc.: "Teach a Man to Ice Fish" reveals that in addition to being a Pointy-Haired Boss, his agents (bar Opal and Omar) are all incompetent to some degree. Justified by the fact that like Arctic Mr. O, they're generally isolated from people and from society.
  • Last Place You Look: He frequently loses his glasses despite the fact that they're still on his face. However, he never notices they're on his face until he asks where they are and someone points it out.
  • Leader Wannabe: Shows shades of this in "Odd Off The Press" where he vies for the position of the Little O following Oprah's departure. Despite failing in every aspect of Orpita's interview, he repeatedly asks her if he got the job, and even after Denver Mr. O is chosen for the position instead of him, he casually hangs out in Oprah's office. However, when Orpita is chosen to be the actual Little O instead after Denver Mr. O proves himself to be incapable of being in the position, Arctic Mr. O doesn't mind and takes the decision mostly in stride (apart from him mistaking Oprah's "my replacement was here all along" comment as being directed towards him, not Orpita).
  • Mellow Fellow: Not to the extent of those like Ocean, but he is very laid-back and rarely shows extreme emotion, even when facing down villains.
  • Nice Guy: For all his idiocy, he doesn't have a mean bone in his body. Case in point: in "Odd Off The Press", Orpita asks him to recite the "Well, what are you waiting for? Go!" Catchphrase during her interview with him. He begins to say it, but instead of "go", he expresses concern and asks if his (metaphorical) agent wants to take a day off because he refuses to send them out onto the field if they're getting sick. Orpita reacts to his effort with an exasperated but nonplussed "I would try that again", but it's still quite notable for someone of his department and overall status in the Odd Squad hierarchy, especially since past Directors have been known to be Mean Bosses at best and Enfant Terribles at worst.
  • Pointy-Haired Boss: He's easily the most ineffective Director seen in the show thus far. Potentially justified by the fact that he works at a barren Odd Squad precinct in the Arctic, which doesn't operate like most precincts.
  • Purple Is Powerful: Subverted. He does wear mostly purple, as it's his department's theme color, but is very weak compared to other Directors such as Oprah and Olive.
  • Really Fond of Sleeping: The OddTube episode "Know an O: Part 1" reveals that he's a Sleepyhead that takes up to eight naps a day. "Odd Beginnings: Part 1" showcases this in action, as he's shown sleeping in his chair while Opal and Omar go to their desks with the Bag O' Machines.
  • Reassigned to Antarctica: Befitting his name, Arctic Mr. O works at the Arctic Odd Squad precinct. It's not revealed how he came to be in charge of the precinct, whether it was by punishment from Oprah (as the Big O) or by promotion from a previous Director. The "Odd Beginnings" two-parter implies that the precinct's Headquarters doesn't even have working heat and he asks Oprah for space heaters and hand warmers as soon as he gets the chance, but aside from that, he doesn't seem to mind working there.
  • Super-Strong Child: Notably averted. Unlike most Odd Squad Directors, he is very weak and doesn't have much physical strength, if any at all. "Odd Off The Press" has Orpita presenting a board and a cinder block for him to chop, and instead of going right for it like Denver Mr. O and Belgium Ms. O, he asks her incredulously, "With my hands?"
  • Trademark Favorite Food: As an Odd Squad Director, his drink of choice is water. However, unlike Olive, whose drink of choice is also water, he eats icicles that come in various flavors.
  • With Due Respect: In "Odd Beginnings: Part 2", he has no problem confronting the Big O about taking Opal and Omar away from him since they work for him, and says that if she wants them to quit working at his precinct as Investigation agents and go into the newly-created Mobile Unit department, then she will have to give him something in return. Opal, Omar, and even Oprah herself immediately grow concerned, but luckily, all he wanted to trade them for were heaters and glove warmers. May be justified by the fact that Opal and Omar are the best agents in the precinct, which doesn't have many agents to begin with, and the decision for them to become a part of a new department working under the Big Office and not a singular precinct is very sudden.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: He ends up being in control of the chain in "Odd Beginnings: Part 1". Upon Opal and Omar returning to Headquarters and finding that the two identical snowflakes they managed to capture have melted, Arctic Mr. O attempts to cheer them up by offering them some new machines. The two Investigation agents go absolutely nuts as they scream in delight about finally getting gadgets, all while their boss looks on with a smile...until he simply tells them that no, they're not getting gadgets because it's too cold in the Arctic for gadgets to work effectively. Instead, he gives them a bag of "simple machines", filled with things such as a lever and a pulley, which ends up being a Chekhov's Gun.

    Orana and Oliver

Orana and Oliver

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2021_03_08_odd_squad_full_episode_end_of_the_road_pbs_kids_mp4.png
Played by: Geneva Phan (Orana) and George Holahan-Cantwell (Oliver)
An Investigation partner pair situated in Australia who are close confidantes of Oprah in the first half of Season 3.

  • Battle Boomerang: Orana has a Boomerang-inator on her which she uses to attack the Sand Queen in the mid-Season 3 finale. She ends up missing by a long shot, but it does manage to come back to her when the villainess attacks her and she becomes trapped in sand.
  • Bizarre Alien Limbs: In "Down the Tubes", Orana accidentally zaps Oliver with her Octopus-inator, giving him octopus tentacles for legs.
  • Braids of Action: Orana wears her hair in a braid extending backwards that is combined with a small bun.
  • The Dividual: They are never seen apart and always work together. It's justified, however, since they're partners.
  • Fiery Redhead: Inverted with Oliver, as he has red hair but doesn't have a temper, and is instead serious.
  • Land Down Under: They both work in an unidentified Australian Odd Squad precinct.
  • Mr. Exposition: They serve this role in "Slow Your Roll" and "Down the Tubes" along with Oprah, although they step out of it entirely in the Season 3 finale.
  • Spear Counterpart: Oliver looks strikingly identical to Olympia from Season 2, having the same red hair and red glasses and being in the same department.
  • Techno Wizard: Both agents are very skilled in the realm of technology. In "Slow Your Roll", they are able to tell the precise moment when the van is being hacked into and taken over by The Shadow.

    Bouldy
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2023_12_06_at_21_23_50_bouldy_croppedwebp_webp_image_509_536_pixels.png
Voiced by: Mark Trafford
Orla's stony former friend, who accompanied her for 400 years while she guarded the Odd Squad Headquarters located in the Amazon.

  • Animate Inanimate Object: In "The B-Team", he is shown to have the capability to speak English, which Oceana and Arctic Mr. O manage to understand after struggling for a while.
  • Companion Cube: Was one for Orla, which makes sense when one considers how lonely she was in the Amazon Odd Squad Headquarters for century after century.
  • Mister Seahorse: It largely depends on the mileage, but the sixteen rocks he produces in "The B-Team" could potentially be him giving birth to sixteen children at once. It's rather hard to tell, since Offscreen Teleportation is involved.
  • Power Makes Your Voice Deep: Bouldy is a Stone Wall who has a very deep voice.
  • Replacement Scrappy: An in-universe example. According to Oprah in "The B-Team", he was meant to be Orla's replacement in the Mobile Unit. Naturally, due to being former friends, Orla doesn't view him in a positive light.
  • Stone Wall: Quite literally in Bouldy's case — he's a boulder that can't move but provides good defense and good coverage for his teammates.
  • We Used to Be Friends: It and Orla used to be best friends, up until something happened that caused their friendship to sever. What that something was, though, is never explained.

    Oceana
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/oceana.jpg
Played by: Holly Gorski
An Odd Squad Librarian who works at the Odd Squad Library in Chicago.

  • Creepy Child: Her first appearance involves her putting on a weird smile as she, Omar and Oswald wait for her computer to print a pie recipe. Her manner of typing also comes off as creepy. However, she's not antagonistic and is pretty friendly outside of the creepiness.
  • The Ditz: Ironically for someone who's a librarian, "The B-Team" shows that she isn't all too bright.
  • Expo Label: Oceana takes this to its extremes in "The B-Team". She labels everything in the van, whether it's to denote something or it's a completely nonsensical note.
  • Nice Girl: She's a genuinely nice girl who is slow to act, but is dedicated to stopping oddness.
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted. Oceana shares a similar name to Ocean, an Odd Squad Season 2 character who was in the Creature Care department.
  • Replacement Scrappy: An in-universe example. She is seen as Oswald's replacement in "The B-Team" because Oswald was once an Odd Squad Librarian like her, but Oswald doesn't really see her in a positive light.
  • Scary Librarian: Downplayed. About the only thing that makes her scary is her unnerving smile and her way of typing on a keyboard. Outside of that, she's affable.
  • Skewed Priorities: She's more keen on labeling things than helping out with cases, such as making a new label for a new gadget instead of using said gadget to stop a major threat.
  • Slower Than a Snail: In "The B-Team". Due to being a ditz, she's slow in battle. It took her, Arctic Mr. O, and Bouldy two days to close a wormhole, as opposed to the Mobile Unit's much-better record of 48 seconds.
  • Technology Marches On: Averted. Her desktop computer looks like something straight out of the 90s and looks very out of place in a high-tech organization. It's also far slower than most computers seen in the franchise.

    Octavius
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2023_12_08_at_19_02_21_overduemp4.png
Played by: Keegan Hedley

The Odd Squad Head Librarian and Oswald's friend, who works at the main Odd Squad Library.

  • Compressed Vice: In "Off the Clock", Octavius is shown to be a rival to Oswald when "Overdue!" had them be friendly with each other. By the end of that episode, they were on good, if not neutral, terms. Not so much in "Off the Clock".
  • Determinator: Octavius can and will attempt to find books for patrons even if he doesn't have the name of the book, the name of the author, or the subject of the book given to him.
  • Evil Laugh: Gives a whispered one in "Off the Clock" when he tells Oswald he will never be able to top his "Annual Gathering of the Past and Present Library Museum People".
  • Hypocritical Humor: At the end of "Overdue!", he is shown in the background cheering along with the Mobile Unit before he catches himself and shushes himself and the others using his new "shushing stick".
  • Overly Long Name: His full name is Octavius James Help-You-Find-A-Book Donaldson, making him one of the few agents to canonically have a last name. He lampshades it in "Overdue!" by explaining that it's a nightmare when it comes to filling out paperwork.
  • Queer Character, Queer Actor: Downplayed. After playing Octavius, Keegan Hedley later came out as gay, but it's never been confirmed whether Octavius is meant to be on the LGBTQ+ spectrum or not.
  • Rules Lawyer: He enforces the "no talking loudly in a library" and "no soliciting in a library" rules to absolutely insane extremes. He even claims he would shush patrons all day if it didn't make his throat so dry.
  • Scary Librarian: He absolutely enjoys shushing people, even when the sound he makes to shush is louder than the offender's talking. He shushes people so much that his throat goes completely dry.
  • Silence Is Golden: Invokes this in "Overdue!" It gets to the point where his throat becomes dry and he requires a "shushing stick" lest he lose his voice.

    Ono
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2023_12_08_at_22_48_37_onowebp_webp_image_1280_720_pixels.png
Played by: Ava Ro

A Security agent who protects the Top Secret Security Facility at Devil's Tower in Wyoming.

  • One-Shot Character: Only appears in "Odd in 60 Seconds".
  • invoked Technology Marches On: An in-universe example. Ono's smartwatch has functions that other agents' smartwatches don't, including the ability to open up doors, the ability to activate booby traps, and the ability to be used as a screen, among others.

    Olanda
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/olanda_0.png
Played by: Hattie Kragten

A Maintenance worker who works on the Mobile Unit van.

  • invoked Acting for Two: Hattie Kragten also plays the Professor O seen in the Odd Squad episode "Odds and Ends" as well as voicing the Van Computer.
  • Crippling Overspecialization: Tell her to fix up the van and she can do it with ease. Tell her to solve a case and she won't be so keen on doing so.
  • The Drag-Along: Olanda is happy being a Maintenance worker who doesn't want to get into much danger. Unfortunately for her, she ends up being a part of the efforts to free the Mobile Unit from their snowglobe confinement, along with Oxley.
  • Improvised Weapon: When attempting to trap Sue Venir, she crafts an Inescapable Net that is really a rope ladder, but is made with tools she has on her as an agent in the Maintenance department. It works.
  • Kids Driving Cars: Played with. The Mobile Unit van is largely self-driving, but Olanda still manages to get the hang of making it drive within a short time, due to her experience working on the vehicle.
  • One-Shot Character: Only appears in "Substitute Agents".
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted. Her name is just one letter off from matching Olando's.
  • Refusal of the Call: When Opal proposes that she would make a great agent, Olanda makes an expression at Oxley that shows she's not particularly fond of the idea.

    Oxley
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2023_12_14_at_23_31_50_substitute_agentsmp4.png
Played by: Andrew Cheung

A Food and Beverage worker who is the Mobile Unit's personal chef.

  • Crippling Overspecialization: He can deliver and make food like nobody's business, but when it comes to solving cases out on the field, he is completely out of his element.
  • Had the Silly Thing in Reverse: Pretty much all of his Nice Job Breaking It, Hero moments in "Substitute Agents" revolve around him either holding the Net-inator the wrong way or firing it at the wrong target.
  • Improvised Armour: His Juice-Box-inator enables him to make a shield out of juice boxes.
  • Kids Driving Cars: Played with. The Mobile Unit van is largely self-driving, but Oxley still manages to get the hang of making it drive within a short time, in spite of being a Food and Beverage worker.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: He's been making weekly deliveries to the Mobile Unit van since August, but none of the Mobile Unit agents have any idea who he is.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Aside from his Had the Silly Thing in Reverse moments in "Substitute Agents", the end of that episode has him trapping the Mobile Unit in a snowglobe once again, along with Olanda, using Sue Venir's camera.
  • No Sense of Direction: If Orpita's comment in "H2 Oh No!" is any indication, Oxley has a bit of a habit of getting lost in the Mobile Unit van, even in spite of his Stealth Hi/Bye abilities.
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted. He shares the name of a Maintenance worker in the Odd Squad episode "The Deposit Slip-Up", who makes keys for Precinct 13579. Coincidentally enough, "Substitute Agents" has the Food and Beverage worker Oxley teaming up with a Maintenance worker, though it's not the Maintenance worker Oxley.
  • Rank Up: Is promoted offscreen and becomes the personal chef of the Mobile Unit by the time "Box Trot" rolls around.
  • Refusal of the Call: At the end of "Substitute Agents", he starkly refuses Opal's suggestion of him and Olanda becoming agents.
  • Stealth Hi/Bye: Comes with the territory of being an Odd Squad employee. According to Oprah, he "keeps a low profile".
  • Supreme Chef: He starts off delivering food to the Mobile Unit on a weekly basis, but eventually gets promoted to the position of being the personal chef of the Mobile Unit.

    Osemite
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/osemite.png
Played by: Callum Shoniker

A "creature guy" whom Orpita knows.

  • The Ditz: He's good at administering tests. Not so much with anything else.
  • Eating Pet Food: Ends up accidentally eating creature food at one point after he mixes up his snacks, and comes to like it.
  • Gone Horribly Right: He releases a Grizzlegorp and a Wriggler as part of Orla's and Oswald's test, but later unintentionally releases another creature known as a Wrigglegorp and begs them to catch it before Xanthia sees it.
  • Forgetful Jones: He's a very forgetful person. He can't keep track of his snacks and even accidentally lets out the third creature that Orla and Oswald have to catch.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: Downplayed. He has shoulder-length blonde hair. If it weren't for Orpita explicitly referring to him as a "creature guy", viewers would likely mistake him for being female.
  • Mellow Fellow: Not to the extent of those like Ocean, but Osemite is quite laid-back up until he accidentally releases a Wrigglegorp and has to beg Orla and Oswald to catch it for him.
  • One-Shot Character: Only appears in "Can You Wrangle It?".
  • Stealth Hi/Bye: But of course. Not even a second after Orpita tells the Mobile Unit she knows a "creature guy", Osemite suddenly appears.
  • Weapons That Suck: The gadgets he gives Orla and Oswald to catch the loose creatures have the ability to suck them inside, like vacuums.

    Oxford and Osalind
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2023_12_15_at_01_56_01_double_o_trouble_part_2mp4.png
Played by: King Dillon (Oxford), Gabriela Francis (Osalind)

Two new agents working in the Investigation department who guard a clock tower at the Wrigley Building in Chicago.

  • Curb-Stomp Battle: They end up on the receiving one from Aarti Craft, and then later end up giving a hearty one to Aarti once they gain confidence.
  • Determinator: Averted for both Oxford and Osalind. As new agents, they lack the confidence to help catch Aarti Craft and doubt their abilities quite a bit, even with Orla and Oswald encouraging them. Orla and Oswald getting turned into paper dolls ends up being the catalyst for their lack of determination as they begin to give up, but a pep talk from Omar helps to cheer them up and helps them to realize their potential, whereupon they play the trope straight and become more determined.
  • The Dividual: As partners, they are never seen apart.
  • Edible Ammunition: They are both armed only with cantaloupe-related gadgets, which can conjure up cantaloupes. While normally cantaloupes aren't much of a weapon, gadgets that weaponize them can become as much of a force to be reckoned with as any other gadget since Weaksauce Weakness runs rampant.
  • The Guards Must Be Crazy: Their debut appearance has them locking themselves inside of the Wrigley Building, where the clock tower they are supposed to be guarding is.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: During their first encounter with Aarti Craft, they're quick to bolt after Orla and Oswald get turned into paper dolls.
  • The Lightfooted: Both Oxford and Osalind are very agile in battle, managing to dodge Aarti Craft and her attacks during their first and second battles with her. Even Aarti herself has to comment on how speedy they are.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: As they're on "cantaloupe duty" and don't operate out of the Chicago precinct's Headquarters, they're unaware that their coworkers have been turned into paper dolls up until Orla and Oswald break the news to them.
  • Odango Hair: Osalind wears her hair like this.
  • New Meat: Oxford and Osalind are new Investigation agents. As such, their job is to guard the Wrigley Building and the cantaloupe it houses as a power source, since it is a job that new agents must perform.
  • One-Shot Character: Both Osalind and Oxford only appear in "Double O Trouble".
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted. Oxford shares his name with a Creature Care department agent heard in the Odd Squadcast.
  • Sole Survivor: A non-lethal variant — Oxford and Osalind managed to escape Aarti Craft, and they are the only agents of the Chicago precinct to not be turned into paper dolls.
  • Sympathy for the Devil: Upon Aarti Craft's defeat, Osalind offers a deal to her, telling her she can take the cantaloupe balls off of her nails in exchange for turning everyone, Orla and Oswald included, back to normal. She's not happy about the deal, but takes it anyway.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Downplayed. Oxford's and Osalind's love of cantaloupe extends far beyond their duties, as Oxford offers Osalind cantaloupe balls at one point.

    Oyster
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2023_12_18_at_20_17_13_oyster_id_1_s3e27awebp_webp_image_423_590_pixels.png
Played by: Cody Black

The "mail-carrier-in-chief" of Odd Squad's Mail department.

  • Chekhov's Gun: He provides "The Problem with Pentagurps" with two — repeatedly talking about his tennis match, and making mention of the tube for sending junk mail clogging if too much stuff is put in it.
  • Faster Than They Look: Though the scenes of him hitting the Pentagurps is in slow motion, it's implied that Oyster is incredibly fast for being a Postmaster General, as he is able to hit all of the flying furry creatures dead-on.
  • Ironic Name: Despite his name, he doesn't like oysters, something he points out to the Mobile Unit when they introduce themselves to him.
  • One-Shot Character: Only appears in "The Problem with Pentagurps".
  • Unstoppable Mailman: He takes his work in the Mail department very seriously and delivers any and all mail regardless of the current weather conditions.

    Oppo and Over
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2023_12_18_at_20_58_03_three_portals_downmp4.png
Played by: Justin Paul Kelly (Oppo), Avery Grant (Over)

Two Investigation agents who are part of the Odd Squad Backup Unit, taking Oswald's and Osmerelda's places when they are out sick.

  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: They look and act kind and sweet on the outside, but this is only hiding their true identities as Starscreams who want to kick Omar and Orla, and by extension Oswald and Osmerelda, out of their jobs.
  • Didn't Think This Through: They want to drive Orla, Omar, Osmerelda and Oswald out of their jobs so they can have control of their van. Unfortunately, neither one of them factored in their tendency to get easily carsick.
  • Easily Forgiven: When the competition is over, they both apologize to Omar and Orla for the trouble they caused and for wanting them to get kicked out of the Mobile Unit department. They both take it in stride.
  • Gracefully Demoted: Played with. Oppo proposes that if he and Over win, they will become part of the Mobile Unit department while Orla and Omar become part of the Investigation department. However, as the Mobile Unit department is lower in the Odd Squad hierarchy than Investigation, Oppo is pretty much aiming for him and Over to be demoted instead of promoted.
  • Meaningful Name: Over's name seems like a run-of-the-mill Odd Squad name, but taking her goal of kicking Orla, Osmerelda, Oswald and Omar out of the Mobile Unit to seize control of their van into consideration, it fits perfectly.
  • Rivals Team Up: To get the massive butterfly back to its respective dimension, Oppo and Over team up with Omar and Orla at the climax of their debut episode.
  • The Dividual: They are never seen apart. However, it's unclear whether they are actually partners or merely just coworkers.
  • One-Shot Character: Both Oppo and Over only appear in "Three Portals Down".
  • The Starscream: Over and Oppo don't want to be in the Mobile Unit for power and fame. Rather, they want to be in it so they can have the van that comes with it. Getting rid of Omar and Orla, along with Osmerelda and Oswald, is a bonus for them.
  • Stealth Hi/Bye: They make their debuts in this manner.
  • Temporary Substitute: As they are both part of the Odd Squad Backup Unit, being temporary substitutes is their job. Oppo replaces Oswald and Over replaces Osmerelda while they are out sick.
  • Worthless Yellow Rocks: At one point, Oppo tosses away a briefcase that is full of $1 million Jackalope Dollars. Originally, he and Over were going to use the money to buy a portal piece from Gerard that would assist them in completing the second portal.

    Xuxa and Xeno

Xuxa and Xeno

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2024_01_10_at_04_51_33_overduemp4.png
Played by: Zion Thompson (Xuxa), Kaden May (Xeno)

A pair of Task Force agents who meet up with the Mobile Unit regarding Orla's Extremely Overdue Library Book.

  • Contrasting Replacement Character: Xuxa and Xeno are vastly different from their coworkers Xavier and Xena, being friendlier and more professional. Their firing of Orla also comes out of sheer rule-following and not out of jumping to conclusions, and the whistling they do is a direct contrast to the Mirthless Laughter Xavier and Xena shared.
  • Hate Sink: Averted. In contrast to Xavier and Xena from Season 2 of Odd Squad, Xuxa and Xeno aren't out-and-out villainess and weren't created with the intent to be hated. They also don't antagonize the Mobile Unit in any way and simply just do their jobs.
  • One-Shot Character: Both agents only appear in "Overdue!".
  • Stealth Hi/Bye: Of course, being Odd Squad agents and all.

    Xanthia

Xanthia

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2024_01_10_at_04_50_55_xanthia_id_s3e26awebp_webp_image_932_720_pixels.png
Played by: Emani Desouza

A Task Force agent who comes to examine the Mobile Unit's licenses to see if they are up to code.

  • Contrasting Replacement Character: To Xavier from Season 2 of Odd Squad, given how he was originally meant to be featured in "Can You Wrangle It?" before Xanthia was created to fill the role instead. Whereas Xavier is a Hate Sink with a lack of empathy who had it out for Otis and the rest of Precinct 13579, Xanthia is far kinder and shows a lot more leniency for the Mobile Unit once she gets wind of what happened. Similarly, Xanthia doesn't have a partner, unlike Xavier who has Xena for a partner.
  • Faster Than They Look: She manages to get to the 32nd floor of the van before Oswald and Orla can even begin their first test.
  • Hate Sink: Averted. Like Xuxa and Xeno, she isn't meant to be hated on, nor is she villainous, as she treats the Mobile Unit agents with respect and kindness.
  • Odango Hair: She wears her hair in two buns on the top of her head, similar to Osalind.
  • One-Shot Character: Only appears in "Can You Wrangle It?".

Villains

    The Shadow

Played by: Zarina Rocha
The main antagonist of the first half of Season 3 who has a vendetta against Opal and the rest of OSMU.

  • Big Bad: Of Season 3.
  • Cain and Abel: The Cain to Opal's Abel. While she is cunning, manipulative, and evil, Opal is more kind-hearted and is working on the heroes' side.
  • Cool Mask: Wears one around her eyes.
  • Create Your Own Villain: It's revealed that the reason she turned to villainy was because Opal was far too overprotective of her.
  • Dark Is Evil: Her outfit is predominantly black.
  • Driven by Envy: She became a villain because she was jealous of Opal's status as The Ace and she knew that turning to villainy was one thing Opal would never do.
  • Enfant Terrible: One of the most malicious kid villains in this series to date.
  • Evil Genius: She always manages to stay one step ahead of the Mobile Unit up until "End of the Road". She even gets the idea to use Odd Squad's own MO of teamwork against them by having every single villain in the world team up to destroy them. It's very telling that fans voted her as the Oddest Villain Ever on the show's Instagram's "Odd Villain Madness" event, beating out Odd Todd.
  • Face–Heel Turn: She ended up doing this due to Opal's behavior towards her.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Is very apt with technology, and once successfully hacked OSMU's van. In "Odd in 60 Seconds", she also manages to get to the mega-computer and extract info about every known villain worldwide, without anyone detecting her.
  • Heel–Face Turn: She ends up reforming in the Season 3 finale after Opal convinces her that she can do great things just like her. By the end, she leaves with Opal to fix the damage she caused in various countries.
  • Invisibility Cloak: Dons one in "Odd in 60 Seconds".
  • It's Personal: While she's not above attacking the Main 4 in general, she has a grudge against Opal specifically.
  • Luke, I Am Your Father: She is revealed to be the younger sister of Opal, much to the agent's dismay.
  • Meaningful Name: Her alias of "The Shadow" is meant to represent both being stuck in her older sister Opal's shadow, and becoming a shadow of herself when turning to villainy.
  • Ominous Opera Cape: Has a long black one.
  • Rocket Boots: She wears a pair of these that have red-orange soles. They prove to be useful in "End of the Road" when entering the tornado.
  • Secret Identity: Of a sort. "The Shadow" could potentially be considered an identity that is created by Olizabeth, Opal's younger sister, but she doesn't swap between her "Shadow" alias and her "Olizabeth" one, instead staying as "The Shadow" up until the mid-season finale.
  • Smug Snake: There's rarely a moment when she isn't smug.
  • The Smurfette Principle: Out of the four major kid villains in the franchise, she is the only one to be female.
  • Villain Reveals the Secret: In "End of the Road", she reveals her true identity and her relationship to Opal to all of the other villains. Despite being related to someone working for Odd Squad, though, the Villain Network still sees her as a viable villainess and give her no criticism of any sort.
  • Villains Out Shopping: In "Slow Your Roll", she wants the Mobile Unit to give up because she has an eye doctor appointment she needs to get to. Eventually Brutus just decides to bring the optometrist to their Supervillain Lair, much to her chagrin.
  • Villain Team-Up: The trailer for Season 3's first half reveals that her overarching plan is to gather every villain from around the world to form a "Villain Network" in order to take down the Mobile Unit. The episode "Villain Networking", and her overall arc, expands on this concept.

    Brutus

Brutus

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2020_07_08_brutus_webp_webp_image_640_360_pixels.png
Played by: Osias Reid
The Shadow's main henchman.

  • Dark Is Evil: Like his boss, he wears mostly black.
  • The Ditz: He's very ditzy in contrast to his boss.
  • The Dragon: Serves as this to The Shadow.
  • Enfant Terrible: Though not to the extent of The Shadow, he does have malicious intent.
  • Vile Villain, Laughable Lackey: Brutus is very loyal to The Shadow and is willing to carry out her orders as needed, but can be very dimwitted at times.

    Sticky Sisters / Sally

Sticky Sisters / Sally

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2022_07_27_at_04_13_02_odd_off_the_pressmp4.png
Sticky Sister #1 played by: Tavia Pereira
Sticky Sister #2 played by: AJ Bridel

Two Siblings in Crime with powers relating to stickiness. They are both named Sally, although they are colloquially referred to as the Sticky Sisters.

  • Animal Motifs: Both of them have gecko motifs, with their outfits and powers resembling that of a gecko's.
  • Big Applesauce: "Odd Beginnings: Part 1" has them going to New York City and looking like complete outliers among all the people walking around, being unfamiliar with the city.
  • Calling Your Attacks: Every time they attack, they call out what substance they're attacking with.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: The first Sticky Sister definitely isn't shy about telling others that she and her sister are villains.
Sister Sally #2: Sorry, was I supposed to lie?
Sister Sally #1: Yeah, of course! We lie. We're villains.
  • Chained Heat: A prominent Running Gag with them involves them high-fiving each other, only to get stuck because their hands and fingers are sticky. They then spend a painfully long time attempting to get unstuck. It's such a bad habit that the first Sister Sally has a habit of doing it with other villains, as seen in "Villain Networking", and they also do it with objects that stick to their hands and fingers.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: They serve as the main antagonists for the Season 3 premiere, although it's made clear that they're not the Big Bads and are working under another villain.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: In "Odd Beginnings: Part 1", they proceed to blast every agent in the Arctic Headquarters solely because Arctic Mr. O asked them if there was a "New York City 2" after they declared their intentions to go to New York City.
  • Evil Is Hammy: Between the constant evil laughing and the taunts they dole out, yes.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: The redheaded, second Sister Sally is more ditzy than her sister, although both of them have their moments of incompetency.
  • Green and Mean: Both of them wear predominantly green and are villains.
  • Not Quite Dead: "Odd Beginnings: Part 2" never shows their fates after they try to escape from Orla's crumbling Ancient Headquarters. "Villain Networking" has the first Sister Sally show up, but without her sister. "Odd Off The Press" confirmed that both of them were very much alive and well.
  • Siblings in Crime: They are sisters who work together.
  • Superpower Lottery: Since their forte is sticky things, they have access to a wide range of things they can use as weapons or binding tools, from useful things like tape to mundane but functional things like cinnamon buns.
  • Technologically Advanced Foe: At the very least, they have a better grip on technology and how to use it responsibly than the heroes. The entirety of the "Odd Beginnings" two-parter hinges on them using their smartphones (which agents do not have) to track Opal and Omar, and the 44-Leaf Clover, down.
  • What Is This Feeling?: In "Odd Beginnings: Part 2", after getting stuck to each other again and collapsing on the ground, the second Sister Sally asks, "Is this a hug?"
  • Would Hurt a Child: Most every villain qualifies for the trope to some degree or another. Special mention goes to both Sister Sallies, however, since they left Opal, Omar, Oswald and Orla for dead after both of them go up both staircases and causes Orla's Headquarters to begin collapsing. It's only by Serendipitous Survival via the 44-Leaf Clover do the agents all survive.

    Aarti Craft

Aarti Craft

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2023_07_13_at_13_30_20_double_o_trouble_part_2mp4.png
Played by: Aurora Browne

An Art Attacker villainess who has the power to transform any person or object into any arts and crafts project she desires.

  • Art Attacker: Using multicolored laser beams, she can turn any person or object into an arts and crafts project. This can range from tie-dyeing an entire building to simply projecting pom-poms onto a woman.
  • Attack Backfire: Sure, she attacks Susan successfully, but unlike a majority of her victims, Susan is actually fine with the way she looks and fully embraces it.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Delivers one to Oswald and Orla to the point where they don't even have enough time to act, let alone do so much as dodge. In return, Oxford and Osalind both give her one, putting her through the wringer due to their speed.
  • Femme Fatalons: Her colorful nails are pretty long, although she doesn't fight with them directly — she shoots laser beams in an array of colors at her targets. Oxford and Osalind manage to stop her by firing melon balls at her nails, covering them and leaving her with no way to attack.

    The Form Changer
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2023_12_06_at_19_13_13_formchanger_s3e19awebp_webp_image_1280_720_pixels.png
Played by: Laura Landauer

A shapeshifting villainess who can transform into any person or object she desires, with limitations.

  • Badass Fingersnap: As a contrast to her sister who usually shouts what she's about to transform into, the Form Changer changes forms by snapping her fingers.
  • Batman Gambit: In "Box Trot", she manages to pin the personalities and mannerisms of Omar, Osmerelda and Oswald easily, and uses their forms to attempt to get to the box that contains other villains' powers. The only thing that stops her is high-fiving Orla with her right hand instead of Osmerelda's dominant left.
  • Evil Redhead: She has orange hair and is a relatively new villainess on the scene.
  • Evil Twin: She's the twin sister of the Shapeshifter who later performs a Heel–Face Turn.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Pulls one in "Box Trot" after the Mobile Unit talk some sense into her.
  • Karma Houdini: Ends up being one of the few villains who don't get their powers taken away in "End of the Road". Her attempt to get her fellow villains' powers back ultimately ends up failing thanks to the Mobile Unit's intervention.
  • Same Character, But Different: She's essentially the Shapeshifter, just with orange "skin" instead of blue — right down to being played by the same actress. Even Opal and Oswald have to ask her if she just shapeshifted into an orange version of the Shapeshifter when they first meet her.
  • Shapeshifter Mode Lock: The Form Changer can only change into a person or object once. Once she goes back to her Shapeshifter Default Form, she can't access said person or object's form again.
  • Stronger Than They Look: Her first appearance in "Box Trot" is in the form of a handbag that Lady Bread has. When she shapeshifts back to her Shapeshifter Default Form, she's shown holding onto the villainess's arm without breaking a sweat.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Has this as a power. However, she can only shapeshift into something once. This provides a stark contrast to the Shapeshifter, who can only shapeshift into a specific person or object once a week. Unlike the Shapeshifter, she can also use her powers inversely and change the forms of other objects or people.

    Dr. Dry
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2023_12_06_at_22_01_09_drdry_s3e24bwebp_webp_image_800_720_pixels.png
Played by: Chris Locke

A villain who specializes in everything dry.

  • The Cobbler's Children Have No Shoes: He wears a stethoscope, but specializes in making things dry. Presumably, this extends to causing things like dry mouth and dry skin in patients.
  • Hero Stole My Bike: Inverted. He commandeers a bike from a cycling champion and orders him to ride out to the middle of nowhere when he's in the middle of a race. When the cyclist protests, all Dr. Dry does is give an Evil Laugh. Ends up being subverted when it's shown that's not what really happened.
  • Labcoat of Science and Medicine: He dons one that is brown to match his motif, instead of the standard white.
  • Morally Ambiguous Doctorate: Has "Dr." in his name and wears a stethoscope around his neck, but is firmly on the side of evil.
  • Not Quite Flight: In "Nature of the Sandbeast", he uses two whipped cream cans to fly over the fence holding the Sandbeast's egg in Omar's version of the story.
  • Not-So-Harmless Villain: Whereas "Villain Networking" had Dr. Dry not be much of a threat, "Nature of the Sandbeast" shows him attempting to cause an Apocalypse How situation using the eponymous Unwitting Pawn.
  • Riddle for the Ages: It's unknown how he was able to turn back into a human in "Nature of the Sandbeast" after having been turned into a sandwich in "Villain Networking".
  • Sand Blaster: Downplayed. He specializes in dry things like sand and dirt, but doesn't have direct control over sand and needs an outside source to enact his plans.
  • Tricked-Out Gloves: In Orla's version of the story in "Nature of the Sandbeast", he wears a pair of "shovel gloves" for digging.
  • Tricked-Out Shoes: In Omar's and Oswald's version of the story in "Nature of the Sandbeast", he uses bouncy shoes to hop over the fence to reach the Sandbeast egg.

    Dream Weaver
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2023_12_06_at_22_30_29_in_your_dreamsmp4.png
Played by: Julie Nolke

A sleep and dream-themed villainess who torments Orpita.

  • Cosmic Motifs: Underneath the gold and silver accents, she wears a one-piece uniform with patterns meant to resemble something one would find in space, which reflects her sleep and dream abilities.
  • Dream Walker: She enters the Little O's dreams and plants her Bad Dream Machine in them in order to turn them into nightmares.
  • Dream Weaver: True to her name, she has the ability to shape dreams into nightmares at her own discretion, which can induce insomnia in her victims and leave them with a bad case of Sleep Deprivation.
  • Evil Genius: One of the smartest villains in the entire franchise — she not only has a Bad Dream Machine to turn dreams into nightmares, she has a compact remote that does the same thing, so she doesn't need to be in the direct vicinity of the machine to cause oddness. She also consistently manages to stay one step ahead of Orla, Osmerelda and the Little O up until the end of the episode, and isn't above taunting and scaring the latter.
  • Light Is Not Good: Her uniform is largely comprised of silver and gold accents, but she is an Evil Genius who goes after the Little O.
  • No Water Proofing In The Future: Subverted. Water won't destroy her machine. It's the sun that will fry it to a crisp.
  • Shock and Awe: She conjures up Electric Jellyfish in one of the Little O's nightmares, which are the odd equivalent to lightning and are all but stated to have the ability to shock people.
  • Sleep Deprivation: Her entire schtick is causing this in agents so that they'll be too exhausted to solve oddness effectively.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: She has white hair that is shaped to look like a cloud and is a villainess with dream powers.

    Evil Sculptor
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sculptor_5.png
Played by: Michael Musi

A villain who can manipulate and shape clay however he wishes.

  • Be All My Sins Remembered: In "16-and-a-Half Blocks", he tells Orla and Omar that no matter how hard they try to turn him to the side of good, and regardless of if he does turn good, everyone will always see him as a villain. Orla suggests that he do good deeds that will make people see him as a hero, but when he decides to take her advice and attempts to help a postal worker with her packages, she becomes under the pretense that she is being attacked and calls attention to him, further damaging whatever reputation he may have had as a hero.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: Has no problem with outright pinning himself as a villain.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: He can control clay and can create large sculptures made of clay within seconds. Following his Heel–Face Turn, he decides to go into the career of being a souvenir maker.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Him helping a postal worker with her packages, followed by her crying out "Villain!" and getting others' attention, is very reminiscent of what one would do when harassed or attacked by a criminal. The only outlier is that bystanders also scream "Villain!" at him and don't rush to help the postal worker in any way.
  • Heel–Face Turn: The plot of "16-and-a-Half Blocks" surrounds him wishing to enter Odd Squad's Villain Protection Program and find a new purpose in life that doesn't involve villainy. He eventually does so successfully, though it takes a lot of effort to not have other villains find out.
  • Mad Artist: Though he doesn't want to become a villain anymore, Evil Sculptor can create clay sculptures within seconds.
  • Obviously Evil: Nearly every villain in the entire franchise looks villainous due to their outlandish clothing, but for the Evil Sculptor, it's notable in that Orla is the first to spot him among a sea of people wearing regular clothes due to how he dresses.
  • One-Shot Character: Only appeared in "16-and-a-Half Blocks".
  • Villainous Rescue: When running from a group of villains that wish to stop him from turning over a new leaf, Evil Sculptor makes a mountainous sculpture made out of clay that he and the Mobile Unit can hide behind. It ends up working.
  • Villain Team-Up: Prior to his Heel–Face Turn, he was a member of The Shadow's Villain Network. As such, when he does make the turn, he is able to provide lots of useful information to the Mobile Unit and to Oprah about the Network and its leader.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: He's a villain who has white hair and a white mustache that look like glue was painted on them. However, he ends up making a Heel–Face Turn at the end of his debut episode.
  • Witness Protection: As part of his Heel–Face Turn, he wishes to enter Odd Squad's Villain Protection Program. In exchange, he must feed information to the Big O and the Mobile Unit about the Villain Network and about The Shadow.

    Mr. Unpredictable
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2023_12_12_at_17_12_31_mr_unpredictablemp4.png
Played by: Izad Etemadi

A villain who dabbles in unpredictability.

  • Academy of Evil: Graduated from Villain University, where it's clear that he was quite disliked.
  • Anime Hair: His blue hair looks like something one would find on ice cream, complete with a curl on the top.
  • Confusion Fu: Essentially his entire schtick. It's a break from the norm that other villains have as they usually tend to follow a specific pattern, and it's for this reason that Opal and Omar struggle hard to catch him. Subverted when they realize that he actually does operate on a pattern and isn't as unpredictable as they thought he was.
  • Disney Acid Sequence: The video he sends to the Mobile Unit is completely nonsensical and a little trippy, befitting his modus operandi of being unpredictable. Even Oprah has to acknowledge that "it's a weird one".
  • Disproportionate Retribution: He cut off pretty much all of his friendships and acquaintances with other students due to completely innocuous things, such as Tessa Twosie refusing to give him her shoe so he can make soup in it, which causes him to declare that he'll never use anything or do anything involving the number 2.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: He's defeated by Opal and Omar turning the tables on him with the inverse of Confusion Fu followed by using his own unpredictablity against him.
  • Meaningful Rename: Upon his defeat, he considers the possibility of renaming himself "Mr. Predictable" before deciding to go with "Derek" instead.
  • invoked The Scrappy: In-universe. Mr. Unpredictable was, and still is, hated by most of the students at Villain University due to being a Jerkass that overreacts to minor things.
  • They Call Me MISTER Tibbs!: The reason why he broke off his friendship with Simon Sixer is because he made the mistake of calling him "Mr. U". As such, he doesn't want anything to do with the number 6.

Other Characters

    Jeremy
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2023_12_06_at_23_46_12_jeremymp4.png
Played by: Zachary Tradmor

A fanboy of Odd Squad who gets a chance to meet the Mobile Unit when he and his family become clients afflicted by oddness.

  • Ascended Fanboy: He is a fan of Odd Squad who finally gets the chance to make his dream a reality when Opal recommends him to the Odd Squad Academy for his efforts in stopping Monsieur Papier-Mache.
  • Audience Surrogate: Jeremy is meant to represent kids in the primary demographic who want to join Odd Squad but are overenthusiastic about the franchise and its characters.
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: When he is given Omar's phone, he recites the same "go for [name]" catchphrase that is shared by Olive, Otis and Opal.
  • Broken Pedestal: Subverted. Opal tries to avert the trope and make sure Jeremy sees her and the Mobile Unit in a positive light, believing that if he sees her make a mistake, he will be let down and have his thoughts of the Mobile Unit being a flawless team shatter. As it turns out, Jeremy doesn't care what mistakes the Mobile Unit makes and will continue to idolize them regardless.
  • Cheap Costume: His outfit is essentially a watered-down, more casual version of what Odd Squad Investigation agents wear.
  • Cheerful Child: He is a happy kid who never loses his positive demeanor.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: In "Jeremy", he ends up being the key to unlocking the Mobile Unit's van, as he has the knowledge needed to send it out of lockdown mode.
  • The Lightfooted: Very agile in battle, enough to throw Monsieur Papier-Mache off so he can unlock the van.
  • Loony Fan: Not as extreme as most examples of the trope since he's meant to be an Audience Surrogate, but he definitely worships Odd Squad and every Living Legend it has employed, up to and including the Mobile Unit.
  • Ooh, Me Accent's Slipping: His French-Canadian accent manages to slip in "Jeremy" when he shows Opal and Omar what spoons he uses for eating.
  • Precious Puppy: Has one in the form of Rocket, a bulldog who isn't so keen on following commands.
  • Sixth Ranger: Subverted. Jeremy initially seems like he's going to be one of these, but after his debut episode he's never seen or mentioned again.
  • Stealth Hi/Bye: Comes with the territory of being a Loony Fan.
  • What the Hell Is That Accent?: Jeremy speaks in a French-Canadian accent that is a little hard to identify at first listen.
