Trope Pantheons Discussion

Go To

Welcome to the Trope Pantheons thread! Please read the rules:

    Rules
Rules. The following are not suggestions or tips, but things that have to be followed:
  • When writing a profile, take note of the following:
    • Gods cannot be followers or high priests for obvious reasons. The 'gods' have ascended meaning there is no need for said character to be a follower of another if they have ascended.
    • No hype profiles, please. 'Hype Profiles' are profiles that have been made out of ongoing events and have not been around for a long time. This creates 'hype' due to popularity and certain elements either through certain scenes, memes, dramatic acting or considered overly awesome. They are not bad tropes but building a portfolio solely for that is a bad idea, as they do not say a thing about representing the trope best (unless it's those trope concepts that they are trying to embody for a long time)
      • You can see one if the profile is only showing off how awesome they are or suddenly pushing how 'significant' they are thanks to the just very recent events rather than respecting the longstanding good representations of the trope. And usually having... minimum portfolio or flavor texts and being a bit too generalized or self-contained to events from within their home series instead of interacting with other Pantheon members.
  • When posting in the forum, take note of the following:
    • When you suggest a God, please explain why they fit the trope. Not everyone is going to understand just "X should be the God of Y because they exemplify the trope" off the bat, especially if they're unfamiliar with the work.
    • You must use the Trope Pantheons discussion thread in the forums if you wish to add a new deity, story, something else of importance to the Trope Pantheon canon, or reworking an existing deity (be it simply improving their existing profile or changing their title).
      • For new and reworked deities, 3 [tup] means the profile will have a one week waiting period.
      • For new and reworked deities, 4 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 5 [tup] is an automatic ascension for new and reworked deities.
      • Speaking of reworks, for anyone that wants to improve such profiles, they have to review the current trope the character(s) has and see if it still holds up or if there is a better rep for their trope.
    • For adding new Treasures to The Great Treasury or new Dominions to the Dominions, the following rules apply:
      • For new Treasures or Dominions, 3 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 4 [tup] is an automatic addition to the Great Treasury or Dominions.
    • Do not repost a profile in the forums more than twice in a day if noticeable changes have not been made in between. If a profile is posted a third time in a row without noticeable alterations, it will be downvoted. This is so spamming of no-effort profiles is less frequent and to prevent tropers from getting aggravated seeing the same profile over and over. The minimum acceptable change has to be a single flavour text.
    • The Pantheon is not a mouthpiece for you to voice your opinions on certain characters. You may like certain characters more than others, but do not make the mistake of making profiles for characters you like look like Character Shilling.
    • Tropers new to the Pantheon are barred from approving or downvoting profiles until they have ascended at least two profiles.
    • Do not include fan reception in any profiles. It has nothing to do with the character themselves and will create unnecessary conflict.
    • Write a detailed explanation on why the character is the best candidate for deity of that trope. If people disagree with you, do not force it on the people.
    • Keep in mind that if you still want to try to find a trope for a particular character, you are only given three chances to find a particular trope for them. If a suggestion goes past three possible tropes, then it will come off as shoehorning a character into the Pantheon just for the sake of that character to be there.
      • On a related note, even if a character does have a free trope being suggested, there is still a limit of three attempts for suggesting that character for that trope. If no one responds to that certain proposal after being posted three times, then it will get to the point where the idea will be seen as being shoehorned into the Pantheon. In addition, the idea needs to be considered acceptable and approved because they are good, not for the sake of pitying others because no one is responding to their idea.
  • When posting Pantheon related stuff to the wiki, take note of the following:
    • Do not put a link to these Pantheon pages into the main wiki page. The moment you want to add in a main Characters page that the character is a God of this trope, do not do it. If you see leftovers of this practice, inform the forum and use the cutlist. This also goes to the Trivia page. The only exception to this rule is if a page in the Pantheon could be confused for a page in Main, like Good Colors, Evil Colors and Good and Evil Colors.
    • Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment ALSO applies here. Do not bring things that would incite fights, even if it is what is currently the hot topic and might be 'urgent'. For example, the political scene and some really bad politicians. We are not here to fight at each other, so don't suggest things that go to that direction, this is a fictional Pantheon after all.
    • To add a Pantheon page for a certain work, 4 or more characters coming from the same series/franchise should be ascended before adding the page. For Creator specific pages, 4 deities coming from the same creator and 2 individual work pages coming from the same creator is the minimum to warrant a page.
    • Do not create a trope page for a story until the story is fully completed.

    Instructions and Tips
Here are some tips one should keep in mind when editing:

  • Preparing to write:
    • First thing to do before present a profile is to go to the Trope Pantheons discussion thread. In the forums, you must discuss with other users on adding ideas and seek their approval with sound reasoning. You can also get some assistance in the forum thread by either asking for help and those interested asking if they can help. Submissions that are added without discussion are likely to be deleted and those who violate those rules by adding Pantheon content without discussion will get reported to the mods.
    • If you feel the need to remove a character for some reason (poor quality, outdated titles, etcetera) and replace him/her with another or outright rework, please see what the other tropers think about this in the discussion thread before doing anything hasty. Use good reasoning to see if your idea can easily replace the character present without drawing out your statement or giving too ambiguous claims most do not understand.
    • Please be sure to consult others in the discussion about what you want to work before making the profile. This is done to see if your proposal is the best representative and so, in case your profile is turned down, you do not waste time writing something that others might not find suitable.
      • In the same vein, if you adopt a profile from another troper, it is recommended that you make an announcement that you have done so on the discussion thread. More often than not, a trope that was reserved for something was given away to someone else. Check the Related tab on the top of a page to see if a trope or character has been reserved by a user.
    • If, for whatever reason, you are writing about a God who just happens to be a person in real life, just try to be very careful about what you decide to say. Do not try to make the editing seem too meta (self-referential) and use the aformentioned creativity to create hypothetical scenarios towards fictional characters.
  • When writing a profile for a character, here are a few things to note:
    • All deities should be sorted by their divine ranking. Put Overdeities on the top of the page and Quasideities on the bottom. Also be sure to add them in alphabetical order by their first/given name (can be reversed if it is Eastern ordered). For a group, if there is no official name for them all list down all their names by order of relevance or (if too long to list) title them as Insert Name Here Main Characters or some other identifiable title along the same lines.
    • The maximum number of tropes that a god can have is two, but do not try to abuse that fact. If you need to use a second trope to specify a certain thing about their position, that can be excused either because said character represents their trope choice very well alongside the first trope. It is still generally encouraged to only have one trope.
    • A trope can only belong to one profile at a time. The only time two profiles can share a trope is if there are explicit variations listed in the trope page proper (e.g. Muscle Angst is held by both Biscuit Krueger and Chihiro Fujisaki as the former represents "Too Much Muscle" and the latter represents "Not Enough Muscle")
    • If the character you are about to add to a House already exists in another, make sure to mention that this person has spots in other House as well. Up to 2 places can be made for a deity, with the sole exceptions being those at the Main House to highlight those characters’ importance to the Pantheon’s lore.
    • For a character's theme song, try to avoid calling it "Theme of God X" or "Theme of (Show where God X originates from)". If possible, try to find out if the song has an actual name through research. Most importantly, it has to be part their series’ official soundtracks from media. Do not list songs that are made by fans or outside sources. If they were not specifically used as music for that specific character, then they do not count. Furthermore, it has to be a general theme specifically made for that characters’ appearances, not some generic music that plays for many other instances not related to the character in question.
    • For images, when adding an image for your chosen character, it is highly recommended to use a stylized image that embodies the character or renders that also highlights a character’s behavior (such as cool poses). Most images should be from the main adaptations of the character, unless the images from the other media are of a higher quality than the adaptation. Unless it is needed, do not use fanart for images. If you are, please attribute to the original artist. Due to the website’s dark mode, removing white backgrounds from an image is paramount. This website is suggested to do the background removal. If an image you have takes up too much bytes, it is suggestible to use this site to reduce the byte size. If the byte is still too big, put the compressed image to other sites (or even the same one) to compress even further. Use wikias to look for better images, as even wikias for the series might not contain good official images.
    • Creativity is your friend. While it is not recommended to get too ditzy at your ideas, it is best that when writing a profile for a certain character, do you think of capable scenarios between X and Y. Tip: do not use shallow examples (X wields a sword and Y wields one too) and try to think of relationships that makes sense (i.e those characters that are shout-outs for another).
  • Pantheon Content:
    • Some series or genres will eventually have greater representation in the Pantheon than others. This is unavoidable, but a little diversity helps to make you not look like a shill per say. Try to ensure that if you add a deity from a popular series, make sure that it is because they are a good representative for the trope in question, and not just because they are connected to another deity in their respective canon.
      • As far as deities from actual mythologies, there is generally expectation to build the profiles off interactions from fictional portrays rather than basing it entire from the actual myth. Therefore, a mythological deity should be more of a Composite Character whose main identity is from the actual myth.
    • Occasionally there will be Gods that carry a title without a trope. This is not forbidden, but it is well advised not to abuse them. The only house that a tropeless profile are wholly allowed is the House of Food. Mainly due to most food items lacking tropes, and adding tropes about said foodstuffs is slightly unnecessary. However, the character being ascended for their choice of a food, or food-related thing must be a decently good representative of said item. (i.e their Trademark Favorite Food, or something that they are closely associated with In-Universe, or both).
    • For Dominions and Treasures profiles, always consider what made those places/objects popular in the first place. Were they plot-important, identifiable imagery or have a unique aspect of it? Do not just bring regular objects under the basis of following a certain canon.
  • For Profile Standards:
    • Flavor text is used to describe certain things about a character, place or object. To avoid short ones, it is recommended to write flavor text with 4-7 sentences that can fill around 2 lines each. Be warned that adding too many sentences does not equal good flavor text as it is not an essay of sorts (unless words are substantial and do add to the overall line).
    • Character Profiles of a certain person should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 7 (at the minimum) tropes describing their character.
      • Flavor text count for a deity profile should have by minimum, 10 (depending if the character in question has enough relationships/characterization) to 15 with a maximum of 20-25 for an individual profile.
      • On the other hand, group profiles (profiles of a group that has 4 or more members) have their maximum flavor text count to 15 minimum, giving individual lines for the other members of the group (unless the members are not as characterized) up to 30 at max.
    • Dominion profiles of a certain place should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 5 (at the minimum) tropes describing the context of the place.
      • Flavor text count should range at least 10 to 15.
    • Treasure profiles (inanimate objects without a trope) should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 6 (at the minimum) tropes that describes the object itself.
      • Flavor text count should be at least 7 flavor text up to 12 to constitute a treasure profile.

    Divine Ranking System
  • Overdeity: Omnipotent-level Reality Warpers capable of manipulating the entire universe (or at least the world) at will. Within their own universe they are believed to be omnipotent, or at least impossible-to-completely-destroy embodiments or concepts.
  • Greater Gods: High-level Reality Warpers and that are extremely powerful (capable of destroying or changing anywhere from a large city to a planet at will) and very strong non-reality warpers capable of doing the same thing.
  • Intermediate Gods: Deities at this level are capable of strong but specialized powers such as hydrokinesis, pyrokinesis, etc. without major drawbacks and low level Reality Warpers capable of affecting their immediate area at will.
  • Lesser Gods: Capable of highly specific or little power on their own, or suffer from Power at a Price. However, they may be able to ruthlessly exploit their power or combine it with just being badass enough to make up for it.
  • Demigods: Basically the Badass Normals of the pantheon, making up for their lack of abilities with strength, strategy, and/or planning.
  • Quasideities: Any otherwise normal human, human equivalent, or below without any special powers or training will fall here.

    Templates
Template for adding a new deity:

God X, God/dess of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Rank: This can range from Quasideity, Demigod, Lesser God, Intermediate God, Greater God, to Overdeity, based on representation of power mentioned above.
  • Symbol: An image or icon used to represent the deity.
  • Theme Song: Official song (in other words, no fan music, regardless of quality) that usually is used in affiliation with the character. If the deity is a musician this will most likely be their Signature Song. If possible, give a link for reference, preferably on either a website like Soundcloud or YouTube.
  • Alignment: Good, evil, neutral etc. Forget about The Great Character Alignment Debate here, the Pantheon is one of the few places where you can assign Dungeons & Dragons alignment to characters that don't have alignment system. After all, the Pantheon is based on D&D and is made for fun.
  • For Pokémon deities only:
    • Gender: Defines the gender of the Pokémon; if genderless, it instead defines what gender they identify as.
    • Ability: Provides the Pokémon's ability. If they can Mega Evolve, the new ability is listed as well.
    • Moves: Defines the four moves used by a Pokémon. A Z-Move may also be listed.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the character.
  • Domains: Things that the character has influence over.
  • Herald: Non-ascended loyal character that is from the same series as the ascended character.
  • High Priest: Non-ascended like heralds, but not from the same series, and can serve as a worthy replacement in case something would happen. They can be served as part-time workers in case the originals are busy with some jobs. Co-Godhood is accepted depending on the approval of the originals, usually if the co-deity is from the same series.
  • Followers: Non-ascended characters that are not part of the Pantheon, but would probably worship this character by the fact that they share the ascended character's trope.
  • Relationships between ascended characters go here with your chosen character, it goes something like this:
    • Allies: Members of the Pantheon that are allies, those that share the same values as them and would theoretically be friends with them.
    • Rivals: Members of the Pantheon that are rivals, people who may look at your character with suspicion or a challenge.
    • Enemies: Members of the Pantheon that are foes, those who would see your chosen character as a threat, either on their pespective or yours.
    • Additional Character Relationships: Members of the Pantheon that do not fit in various relationships (examples include Enemy Mine, Vitriolic Best Buds, Teeth-Clenched Teamwork, Headbutting Heroes, Friendly Enemy, Friendly Rival, Just Friends, etc.), allies, rivals, or enemies.
    • Partner: Defines a partnership with an ascended deity and Mon-type. (if any)
    • Feared by/Fears: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon notably fear or are feared by.
    • Respected by/Respects: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon respect or are respected by.
    • Opposed by/Opposes: Not necessarily the same as "Enemies", but this is used for any deity whom the members of the Pantheon directly opposes or is opposed by (basically the opposite of "Respects") terms of certain viewpoints, regardless of alignment.
    • Pitied by/Pities: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon feel pity for or are found pitiable by.
    • Conflicting Opinion: Sometimes, the Deities argue over specific themes and philosophies.
  • Add the Intro. The intro is made up of two trivia, the Ascension Text (or just the Ascension) and The Bio. Both are necessary, but which order you use for them may vary depending on the profile in question. It may be better for one profile to have The Bio first and the Ascension second or vice-versa, although for the most part the order is irrelevant:
    • The Ascension Text: This the story of how the character got into the Pantheon and/or was ascended. There are many ways for this to happen. They may be tricked into it or have simply wandered into the Pantheon, they may have had an already ascended character bring them in, they may already be in the Pantheon (via being another deity's Herald or sharing a trope) and got "promoted", or some combination of the above. Anything is possible in the Pantheon, so use your imagination, but try to incorporate their trope into the story, if possible.
    • The Bio: A brief synopsis on the character's backstory. No need for the character's entire life/production history, but just give enough that those who don't know the character can get an idea of how the character works.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Deities/Characters is 10-15 (15-20 for group profiles) at minimum to 20-25 (30 for group profiles) at maximum.

Template for Dominions profiles:

Place X, Place of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Alignment: Refers to the dominion's role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the dominion.
  • Domains: Things that the place has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the location has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as where the dominion is linked to, note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said dominion, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Dominion is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Dominions is 10 at minimum to 15 at maximum.

Template for Treasure profiles:

The name of the item in here (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Appearance: A shortened description of the item's looks with some notable features also mentioned.
  • Class: Refer to the Treasure Classification System in the Great Treasury.
  • Alignment: Refers to the objects' role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Museum Check: A note that says whether the item is viewable by the public.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the item.
  • Domains: Things that the item has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the item has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as where the item is linked to (especially the original owner of the item), note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said object, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Treasure is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Treasures is 7 at minimum to 12 at maximum.

@ faso: I honestly don't know how to rephrase it without making it sound more awkward. Aside from that, you think he learned his lesson from that? Cause there's plenty of more opportunities to learn when dealing with the likes of Jacket, Dollface (Black), who'd be more than happy to remind him. Manny Pardo would probably try to eliminate him whenever he can, too. Although, it's only because he doesn't like those who would threaten his fame.

@ Backdrift Group: The Corpus would be interested in their services as I think they would be enticed by Zoids when it comes to their own ends for profit. They already were interested in Pokemon before they ascended, might as well add more stuff for them to use for their business ventures.

@ Starlight: Dollface (Black) can sympathize with being a latch-key kid, though it quickly turned abusive when at the age of 10 her mother passed away with her father blaming Dollface for it all. Although, that's not going over everything after college.

@ Balto: Besides an interaction with other Canines, he wouldn't like Dr. Borous for the experiments he done on dogs including his own dog Gabe. Though he does feel remorse over doing it to Gabe, however.

@ Rico: Probably not going to have any good interaction with Seltas and Seltas Queen or Atoraru Ka, moreso for the latter as it's a very active threat thanks to its intelligence and Humongous Mecha it controls through its webbing whereas the former are just wild animals. Plus Atoraru Ka has a habit of attacking human settlements to constantly build upon its mech.

@ M1gami: There were a couple wishes that involved de-aging someone that Calypso granted. For example, one guy wished to have the body of a 20-year old : He gave him just that, minus the head leaving it very old. Another guy asked to be reborn to better protect his tower after dying and becoming a ghost: He turned him into a baby, very much aware that he can't do anything.

Admittedly not a lot of progress since I've devoted a lot of my time to World, too busy admiring the Coral Highlands. Anything for Glavenus? And who would win between this and Indominus Rex?

Glavenus, God of Tail Attacks (Dinovaldo; Glavenus: The Cutting Wyvern; Hellblade Glavenus: Burning Blade, Black Knight of Ferocious Flames)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mhx_dinovaldo_render_001.png
Hellblade Glavenus
  • Potential House: Fighting Moves
  • Intermediate God
  • Symbol: Their Hunter Icons
  • Theme Song: Scorching Blade
  • Alignment: True Neutral
  • Portfolio: Lightning Bruiser (Though a Glass Cannon compared to other Brute Wyverns), Dinosaurs Are Dragons, Spinning bladed tail attacks, Smartest Brute Wyvern in the series and it shows, Breathing fire & creating explosions, Part of the Fated Four, Flagship Monster
  • Size: 2234.75cm - 3174.36cm (Glavenus) 2727.22cm - 3380.61cm (Hellblade Glavenus)
  • Domains: Wyverns, Blades, Fire, Theropods, Intellect, Aggression
  • Allies:
  • Rivals: Deviljho, Indominus Rex
  • Enemies: Those wanting to weaponize it, really anyone within its vicinity
  • Opposed by: The Monster Hunters
  • Opposes: The House of Water And Ice (former only, both for Hellblade)
  • Heralds: The other Fated Four members
  • It's no secret that the world of Monster Hunter holds many, many dangerous creatures. Whether you refer to the catastrophic Elder Dragons such as the Fatalis' or other monsters like the erratic Rajang or the fired up Varusaburosu. Glavenus is certainly no different. Besides looking very similar to the Carnotaurus, the most eye catching thing about it is the giant bladed tail, something you really don't want to be the end of especially when it's heated up. That much is made clear the Pantheon when it took down the Deviljho prior to its ascension. Jho wants to pay back the thing at some point in the future.
  • Unlike most monsters, it has a more broader range of habitats within the House of Nature. It prefers warm environments and as such can be often seen roaming the great deserts of Earth And Metal, the dense forests of Plants, or the volcanic parts of Fire And Electricity though it doesn't dare go to Water And Ice due to its own weakness to water (and ice if referring to the Hellblade). Outside of Nature, it too roams the House of Beast. To those who frequent those three Houses you'd better watch yourself around them, the Glavenus is a very aggressive monster and a good sign to back off is when it's roaring at you whilst dragging its tail on the ground.
  • The Glavenus is noted to be a pretty smart monster contrary to what it appears to be. This is often exemplified by doing more complex actions like using its own mouth as a whetstone. Plus, it's weak to the Dragon Element, and that is influenced by how smart a monster is. It's the other factor as to why Glavenus is the most dangerous among its fellow Brute Wyverns, as it doesn't rely on charging excessively.
  • Although the plans to utilize the Deviljho against her hasn't changed, nor did the talk of who would win, there are some deities who would like to see a fight between the Indominus Rex and Glavenus. Besides, the Cutting Wyvern could function as an alternative to the Great Devourer.
  • Is a potential monster able to be raised and bonded with, although no such attempts at stealing eggs were made. Though there were attempts at trying to mechanize it for their own purposes, those who tried just got cut down. That hasn't stopped people from thinking of the potential of a creature with a giant blade for a tail on their side.

@ Roku: Rico would have a difficult working relationship with both James T. Kirk, whose Federation emphasizes peaceful relations with alien species, and Luke Skywalker, who would be reminded of the ineffectual New Republic.

@ Mariovsonic: Balto could be friends with Link, who turned into a wolf once.

More of The Abyss. Any more ideas to suggest or fix for it. Otherwise, does it look good to go? Also, where in Dominions would Death World fit best at?

The Abyss, Unholy Death World (The Netherworld)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_abyss_map.png
  • A subterranean location with seven layers of beautiful scenery and dangerous creatures
  • Symbol: A map of The Abyss
  • Theme Music: Made in Abyss; Hanazeve Caradhina
  • Alignment: An extreme shade of Chaotic Neutral for the first (and possibly second) layer; heads into Chaotic Evil for the deeper layers
  • Portfolio: Really Long Pit with Seven Layers, Eldritch Location with Eldritch Abominations, Daylight Horror, Distorted Time, Really Beautiful Scenery Regardless
  • Domains: Depths, Death
  • Similar Locations: Pandora, a different Pandora, The Dark Continent, Mira
  • Sacred to: Bondrewd
  • A long time ago, a really wide and deep pit was discovered near an ocean. This particular pit has its own ecosystem, home to plenty of unusual wildlife. Not only that, but plenty of treasures can be found throughout, prompting a town to be established near the Abyss. There are plenty of secrets to discover throughout the Abyss, but getting through its seven layers, let alone exploring them, is no easy task to say the least. The deeper one goes, the more dangerous things get. And then there's what happens when one tries to ascend from the depths, with fatal consequences ranging from losing humanity to death. Needless to say, it's a long way down and getting back up is a challenge in and of itself.
  • The Edge of the Abyss makes up the first layer and although it's nowhere near as dangerous as later layers, there's still a few problems here and there to contend with. The second layer, the Forest of Temptation, where the trees are upside down and the winds are heavy, is when things start to get serious. The Great Fault found in the third layer is essentially a giant vertical shaft. The fourth layer, dubbed as the Goblet of Giants, features humid jungles and more dangerous creatures, but somewhere lies a beautiful field of flowers. The Sea of Corpses within the fifth layer is where Bondrewd resides. The Capital of the Unreturned, the sixth layer, gets its name from the fact that any attempt to ascend from it results in loss of life or humanity. The seventh layer is known as the Final Maelstrom, though there isn't much other information about it beyond that.
    • As for what the deepest point of the Abyss is, it's been believed that it's well over 200,000 meters deep. Given that no one was ever reached that part of the Abyss yet, it's hard to say what could be found there and it's only something the bravest of explorers want to find out.
  • The treasures that can potentially be found here has caught the attention of archeologists and those looking to make money. The League of Explorers has already made preparations for them and their friends on how to get through The Abyss and not suffer too badly in the midst of it. And then there are the greedier deities who believe that the deeper one gets in The Abyss, the more likely that it will be to find highly valuable treasures there to make a profit of. Not that the first layer will have something potentially valuable, but it's not going to be easy and things will get harder beyond that layer.
  • With all the potential treasures that can be found there, it's no wonder that The Corpus is very interested in The Abyss to the point where they've tried to take ownership of at least part of it. There's even rumors going around that The Corpus is interested in a partnership with Bondrewd of some sort.
  • Not only are the treasures and locations subjects of interest regarding The Abyss, the curse that pervades the place has been something a number of deities are interested in. It'd be horrifying to imagine what could happen is someone were to take the Curse of The Abyss and spread it outside of it's normal location, especially with what happens in the deeper parts of The Abyss.
  • Even if it's to a far lesser extent compared to other parts of The Abyss, the wildlife that lives there has left some deities who like animals really intriguied. Progress on researching those creatures has been slow thus far, due to a combination of dangerous factors the place is known for. On the other hand, rumors have been going around of certain deities wanting to hunt down those creatures for reasons that could include money, but nothing concrete has emerged yet.
  • Despite those specific deities not having taken the plunge into The Abyss yet, a few really smart ones have made some comparisons between the layers of The Abyss to various aspects of the Inferno that Dante Alighieri went through way back then. Upon hearing about The Abyss, Alighieri really wasn't sure if it's even worse than the Inferno he went through, but it's clear he hasn't made any plans to go into The Abyss.

[up] [tup] for the Abyss.

I guess that Eddie won't really learn from his experience because he is so far gone that any semblance of common sense is lost with him.

Then again, any psychopath that would be friends with him?

Edward Low, God of Attacking Someone More Dangerous (Eddie Low, Eddie, Ed, Filth Slayer, No-name killer, Keep-Fit Killer, Head Hunter)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eddie_low.jpg
  • Potential House: Criminal Punishment
  • Demigod
  • Symbol: His Knife as well as his blog avatar.
  • Alignment: Chaotic Evil
  • Portfolio: Serial Killer, A Love to Dismember, Creepy Blue Eyes, Depraved Bisexual, Horrible Sense of Humor, Enfant Terrible, Psychopathic Manchild, Self-Made Orphan, The Sociopath
  • Domains: Murder, Insanity, dismemberment, Criminals, Twisted Love, Sexual Abuse
  • Allies: Jack The Ripper
  • Enemies: Niko Bellic, Jacket, Dollface (Black), Manny Pardon
  • It was a day like any other, many deities doing their things as usual, until someone discovered a mutilated body of a deity who happened to be strolling around. When the person in question was revived, they felt shocked and couldn't describe who or what killed them. This series of events kept going for weeks, until the House of Justice commenced a special operation to find the culprit. After a long investigation and finding paralels to an infamous killer belonging to Liberty City, whose modus Operandi was killing random joggers in different places, it was found that the culprit was Eddie Low, a deranged human being whose hobbies consist of masturbating in public and tearing off the limbs of his victims. He was quickly apprehended after he tried to murder another deity but killing was not an option. In the end, Eddie Low stuck around after managing to evade the authorities and escape his trial by getting a house in the Crime House, although he is not very proud of why.
  • While Eddie was already infamous in Liberty City as the "Keep-Fit Killer", he met a rather unfortunate end when he attacked the wrong person. That being Niko Bellic that while they started on somewhat decent terms and Eddie believing he made a new friend, he eventually got angry at Niko because Eddie was creeping him out and decided to try to kill him. Big mistake as unbeknown to Eddie, Niko has killed dozens of mobsters and policemen and was a trained hitman at that, so he easily dispatched Eddie by gunning him down. Thus, the deranged Eddie Low met a gruesome end and a well deserved at that.
  • He wants to take revenge on Niko for, in his own words, betraying his friendship. Of course, given how deranged Eddie is, it's pretty likely that he forgot what happened the last time he threatened Niko. Then there are other, like Jacket and Dollface, who have heard of Eddie and wouldn't mind reminding him what happens when you go attacking any random person because he felt like it and like Niko, they won't hesitate to kill him.

@r-lock: I'd like to see more of the Abyss (you working on it, not the Abyss itself), and how the Pantheon's House of Life And Death can change how things go for explorers. After all, Death Is Cheap, though loss of humanity might be tougher to cure. And what about teleporters, or does the Abyss crash all the symptoms down on those who do so?

Ascension Mode

Is it time for them to get to work? But seriously, I want to know if I wrote Stain's bit here correctly. Eh, I'll let someone correct it in my stead.

Ralph Wolf and Sam Sheepdog, Godly Duo of Nemeses Who Enjoy Off-Time Together (Sam: Ralph, Ralph: George)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sam_and_ralph_clock.png
Just another day in the "office"
  • Potential House: Plain Neutral
  • [tup]s: 2 (Bazzardreturns, MasterHero)
  • Ascending on: Mar 19 (repost on Mar 16)
  • Lesser Gods
  • Symbol: The punch clock where they start and end work
  • Alignment: Lawful Neutral (Sam), True Neutral (Ralph)
  • Portfolio: Friends Off The Clock, Together As Neighbors, Stops Fighting Immediately During Breaktime, Species Surname, Cartoon Physics
  • Domain(s): Occupation, Wolves, Stealing (Ralph), Dogs, Guarding (Sam)
  • Heralds: George Wolf and Fred Sheepdog, their night shift colleagues
  • Allies: Wreck-It Ralph
  • Rivals:
  • Enemies: Hero Killer Stain
  • Other Relationships: the Tazmanian Devil (Ralph's one-day substitute and Sam's one-day coworker)
  • Avoids: Ampharos (Ralph)
  • Respects: Bowser, Mario
  • Opposed by: all farmland animal deities (Ralph)
  • It's normal for the good guy and the bad guy to be at odds with each other, and sometimes there's a chance of befriending or just this "relationship" ending once it's over. What is odd though is when they spend their time as adversaries and as buddies with equal dedication, nothing tense in either sitch. This is the case for Ralph Wolf and Sam Sheepdog. Sam was nominated at first to take the role of Punch-Clock Hero, but because it seemed strange to not ascend Ralph Wolf with him—as it had been also strange for Pumbaa to ascend without Timon—Sam's coworker joined him. But this also meant Punch-Clock Hero was no longer a title Sam could take. Given how casual they are off-hours, they were ascended under a different trope.
    • As such, after their ascension ceremony, Ralph and Sam sent their regards to Bowser (whom the trope is named after) as well as Mario.
  • Applies to both:
    • In regards to how their life goes, it's still the same as before; when "at work", Ralph tries to abduct a sheep in the pasture (which is now just outside their temple), while Sam has to stop him (which he does rather easily). The difference is that they have less work days than before, giving them more time off work for hanging with people other than each other. And while they've never really had to do it before, any who interfere with their operation (like abduct a sheep, attack Sam (or Ralph), or mess with the pasture) during their work hours will be on the receiving end of both of their retributions. That said, these interferences can mess up with their routine, so increased security (and alarm systems have been ).
    • There were plans to have their work continue while under the Grand United Alliances, but Melkor wasn't having any of the strict villainy-on-the-clock nonsense (he's had enough of that with Wreck-It Ralph, who has since cut ties with the GUAE).
    • Speaking of that Ralph, the three sometimes have drinks together and is glad that his wolf namesake didn't have to go through the crap he had to deal with in his time in the GUAE.
    • Sam drives to work on an old Ford Model T, while Ralph uses a drag racer. Of course, they've since updated to the times in the Pantheon, though their styles remain; Ralph drives fast, while Sam prefers to cruise.
    • Sometimes, one can see multiple instances of both of them during many of Ralph's hijinxes. However, given that these only occur during work, it's not known if they can so this off-hours too.
    • Sam's an early riser, while Ralph has an ACME Instant Awakener system to get him up and at 'em. At least that's how things were; in the Pantheon, given that they share temples, it's Sam who wakes his colleague whenever it's a work day, but the Instant Awakener system is still there for off-days.
  • Exclusive to Sam:
    • Is impressed that a young pig such as Babe can do sheepdog duties, even if it's just herding them to the fenced areas.
    • Out of principle, Stain loathes Sam for his strict on-the-clock dedication to his (hero) job and finds the very idea repulsive. Sam on the other hand never considered himself a hero: protecting the sheep is all he's doing.
      • He loathed the idea so much that Stain once interrupted one of their work days, and soundly trashed both Sam and Ralph (after one of his schemes ended up hitting Stain) before more heroes entered the scene and dealt with him. It was one of the few times Ralph showed worry for Sam as not once in his career has he ever suffered injuries, let alone any so severe.
    • No, that Peter asshole never subbed in for him at work. Ralph also denies this ever happening.
  • Exclusive to Ralph:
    • Met up with his long-lost cousin Wile E. Coyote, who doesn't get Ralph's willingness to abandon his chase just because the clock says so. He offered once to pull a switcheroo with Ralph (except for the nose (red and black) and eyes (white and yellow), and sometimes a protruding fang efrom Ralph, they looked alike, and even use ACME products), but the wolf doubted Sam wouldn't notice the difference; they've been co-workers for a long time, so Sam would surely be able to tell. Ralph doesn't have the upper-class accent or the egotistical bearing of Wile E. when he speaks. Ralph is willing to have Wile E. sub in for him, but only if he adheres to the rules.
    • After one electrifying incident with Ampharos, Ralph has no intention of taking any of his pre-evolutions, given they can easily zap him by themselves.

There's this trope called Villain-Beating Artifact. Does anyone have a candidate for this one? I was thinking of someone. Like, I guess... someone from Fire Emblem? Was thinking Julia, but I could mix her up with her mom Deirdre. I have my reasons.

[up] Sounds good to me.

[up][up] Stain is a psychopath with a very narrow philosophy that anyone who doesn't fit his very strict standards of a hero is a phony. I guess casual relation between hero and villain is a huge no-no to him and i guess he would attack sam and ralph. So i guess the text is ok.

On second thought, perhaps it's better that it isn't Julia that rises from that, but put the Book of Naga into the Treasures. Though that book was basically usable only by Julia (or her mom). Which alternative is better?

Thanks for confirming that tidbit for me.

Ralph Wolf and Sam Sheepdog start their first day of work in the Pantheon.

There's this idea that's been circling my mind.

  • The Key Seekers/Keepers of Fœnumcandidates , Divine Champions of Infighting Factions Despite Looming Crisis
    • Reasoning: Um…because Fœnum's plan to combat the looming threat of the Predators seems to be 1) Find the Key, 2) Defeat the Ultimate Predator and close the portal, and 3) pick a Key Keeper to safeguard the key for the future. Unfortunately for the rest of Fœnum (or maybe it's they who mandated it, it's not known yet), their champions want to decide step 3 right now… through hooficuffs, if possible. I think I'll wait until Story Mode's come out before I even think of beginning work on them.

I'm sure I can make do without much adding allies/enemies. It worked for the Marked Ninja. Then again, that was when God of Realistic Ninjas was a sufficient title.

Anataeus Vaya, Patron Saint of Programming Games

  • High Priests: the SpaceChem reaction enigneer, the Infinifactory engineer
  • Followers: Opus Magnum players, Master Factory Computers
  • Allies:
  • Rivals:
  • Enemies:
  • Finding a representative for Programming Game was a hard task, given that either only the "programming" and machine where the work is done matters, or the player character is lacking in details. And then came Anataeus, protagonist of Opus Magnum, and who has actual characteristics. Anataeus is rather miffed that that was why he was invited to the Pantheon, but he's certainly not complaining.
    • Nobody knows for sure what had happened to him and Concordia after fleeing once the latter's vengeance on House Colvan was fulfilled, but it's known that the offer for ascension was given after that, which is why Anataeus accepted the position. His companion Concordia was then chosen as his herald and to sort of serve as his moral compass and pull him away from his work if need be.
  • Brought with him upon his ascension are his transmutation engine (and all its parts and how to make them), special dispensaries for all the basic alchemical atoms (fire, water, air, earth, lead, quicksilver), and all the glyphs and tools he needs for making the various devices he's created over the course of his story, which in turn are all brought as well.
  • Among those machines are those that create simple things like refined/purified gold (though he finds it trivial), face powder, waterproof sealants (for seafaring ship hulls), hangover cures (potable water), fuel (for airships), (precision) machine oil, hair gel (at a noble's insistence; fragrances can be added by someone else), rocket propellants, explosive phials, armor filaments, courage potions (actually, alcohol), cloth stain removers, sword alloys, invisible ink, (alchemical) jewels, voltaic coils, unstable compounds (for explosives), poison lipstick, etc. And then there are other wonders such as…
    • A health tonic for regulating irregular heartbeats.
    • A "stamina potion" for "a little boost at the necessary time". Apparently, it has something to do with reproduction and is for men's consumption.
    • Mist of incapacitation (a.k.a. knockout gas).
    • A water purifier, though the result is slightly sour and somewhat bitter.
    • A solvent for removing (document) seals, though it potentially has more uses than just that.
    • Climbing rope fibers that are strong and resilient, yet light and easy to carry.
    • A warming tonic for keeping the body warm.
    • A "life-sensing potion", which can be used by stealthy folks for sensing heartbeats of patrollers in the form of pulses. It's advised to stay away from crowded areas while using it, though, but rest assured the drinker won't collapse into a quivering heap of nerves when that happens.
    • Very dark thread for easier shadow-sneaking. The House of Costumes (and some sectors in the House of Crime) make several orders for this product.
    • Golden thread. The House of Costumes make several orders for this, too.
    • Mist of hallucination, which probably works as advertised. It seems best appropriated for small spaces.
    • A "timing crystal". Only Anataeus knows how this should operate.
    • The "universal solvent", which he wistfully bemoaned would never be known in his world due to survival and their revenge against House Colvan hinging on no evidence of his work remaining taking precedence over his desire for recognition. Given what the Pantheon is, now it is known.
      • However, because of its potential to change the course of the war, and it's implied that Anataeus dissolved his original transmutation engine with that solvent, Anataeus knows he has to eventually pick a side lest he be kidnapped by one of the Grand United Alliances and be forced to make the solvent for them, or be otherwise removed for a long time (while death is not an issue, there are fates far worse). As such, he's decided that joining the GUAG is his best choice, and Concordia concurs.
  • Due to his alchemy being a delicate process, he's not willing to let just anybody use his transmutation engine without his supervision. That said, there is a simulation program—which Anataeus is still grasping at the subject of—available for "public" use and for his followers (which he's still getting used to having), which emulates all the features in Anataeus' transmutation engine. One just has to make sure that their device (with its parts and the instructions they input) can perform at least six cycles without screwing up before submitting their "blueprint" to Anataeus. After that, he may decide to have the device replicated for use, but without being customizable like his engine.
    • To his surprise, he ends up getting several thousands of submissions, and—barring inefficient models that just focus on getting the job done—he deduced that they're all classified into at least three different types; those that focus on production speed, those that are concerned with minimizing space, and those that are very economical with machine parts. Thankfully, his followers volunteered to filter through them, and even improve on them.
    • Given that he didn't think one alchemist could change the world alone, and that he doubts one could get more than one alchemist to even agree on anything, Concordia had to convince Anataeus to teach them how to use the engine for real for purposes other than constructing devices after several replicas have been commissioned. Even though they don't actually understand the fundamentals of alchemy the way he does, they do know how to operate it. Besides, if things should go wrong, the Pantheon has the means to get him spares.
  • Aside from turning lead into gold, no work on any product is beneath him. Of course, gold isn't the only precious resource in the Pantheon, though he risks messing up the economy if he overdoes it.
  • Anataeus' interests lie solely on practicing his brand of alchemy, though Concordia's been getting him to go out more and learn all the other parts of life. And among the things he's learned doing so are the other forms of alchemy, namely that in the world of Fullmetal Alchemist. Right now, he's reserved his opinion of them to himself.
  • Can't really stand overly formal dinners given the stuffiness he had to endure in his time as Head Alchemist of House Van Tassen. Nor does he tolerate those who don't take warfare seriously or value property more than victory.
  • In his downtime, Anataeus sometimes plays a solitaire game called Sigmar's Garden for unwinding purposes. And to get around the issue of using alchemical proxies, Concordia commissioned actual marbles for the game. So as not to end up getting bored with that game, Anataeus sometimes takes a gander at the House of Gaming for other (non-fast-paced) time-consumers. He's stayed away from the digital consoles though after finding himself having wasted so much time in one of them.
  • Doesn't converse with his "colleagues" in the GUAG Engineering Division unless absolutely necessary. That said, he sometimes gets visitors, some who are genuinely fascinated with his transmutation engine and all the products he's able to produce with them.

As his original drafter, I think that Ginosaji should also have a place in the Weaponized Objects pantheon, since he's also listed as God of Spoons. Plus, if Mahiro is there as the God of Forks, it only makes sense.

Just a couple more new ideas I'm pitching:

  • Horton (Egg Sitting): The point of Horton's debut was him taking care of an egg for a selfish bird for 51 weeks. He endures a lot of pain doing so, but ends up hatching a bird-elephant hybrid in the end.
  • Penrod Pooch & Spot (Canines Primary, Felines Secondary): Penrod (aka Hong Kong Phooey) is the idiotic main character and Spot is his Hyper-Competent Sidekick/Silent Snarker. Whenever he's involved, Spot will end up solving whatever crime HKP is up against and yet, HKP will get the credit (and other times, if it's just HKP by himself solving crime, he wins through dumb luck).

Do these ideas sound good?
