  • Body Horror: Incubus turns Gerard and three extra people into a wriggling mass of flesh as his new form begins to assert itself.
  • Demonic Possession: Enchantress attacks him in a restroom, bashing his head against a mirror. Then she opens the vial containing her brother's spirit form, who then flows into Gerard through his mouth.
  • Fainting: Happens to him in the middle of a subway station once Incubus possesses his body. A police agent and a physician immediately try to help him, only to be impaled or grabbed by Incubus' tentacles and merged within him, along with a construction worker who was filming the scene with his phone instead of running for dear life.
  • Glowing Eyes of Doom: His eyes start glowing as Incubus possesses his body.
  • Innocent Bystander: One innocent victim of Enchantress' and Incubus' rampage among many others.

    Barry Allen

    Henry Allen

Dr. Henry Allen

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/henryallendceu.jpg
"You can be whatever you want to be. You're a brilliant man."

Species: Human

Citizenship: American

Played by: Billy Crudup (Justice League, both versions) | Ron Livingston (The Flash)

Dubbed by: Fabrice Josso (European French) | Daniel Picard (Canadian French) | Arturo Mercado Jr. (Latin-American Spanish)

Appearances: Justice League | Zack Snyder's Justice League | The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive | The Flash

"I want you to give all that up, and I want you to stop coming to see me. I am a drag on your life."

Barry Allen's imprisoned father.

See Alternate Timelines for information on his alternate self.

  • Alternate Self: Has one on Earth-Prime and one on Earth-90, along with any other worlds where Barry Allen exists.
  • Casting Gag: A lab accident granted Barry Allen the power to transcend space and see through time, so of course his dad would be played by Dr. Manhattan.
  • Don't Look Back: He urges Barry not to come back to the parlor since he considers himself as a burden to his son's life, but Barry doesn't listen and keeps visiting him.
  • Good Parents: There's a reason Barry visits him in jail, and the both of them have a Window Love moment.
    • When Barry loses control of his powers due to the stresses of having a double life, Henry tells him to just take things one at a time.
  • Mistaken for Murderer: He has been accused of the murder of his wife Nora, Barry's mother.
  • Nice Guy: Despite the awful situation he's trapped in, Henry is still a kind and good-natured person who loves his son and wants to see him happy, even if it means being left alone.
  • The Scapegoat: Whoevernote  killed Nora managed to pin all the blame on Henry perfectly. Downplayed in The Flash, which reveals that Nora's death was the result of a random mugging. While Henry did have an alibi, he just couldn't prove where he was due to his face being obscured on the security camera.
  • Two First Names: Per a DC Comics habit. Allen is traditionally a male given name.
  • Window Love: He shares such a moment with his son in his prison's parlor in both versions of Justice League, putting his hand on the window with Barry doing the same. When Barry has trouble maintaining molecular stability, he gains control by performing the gesture as soon as Henry prompts him.

    Nora Allen

Nora Allen

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/noraallen.png

Species: Human

Citizenship: Spanish-American

Played by: Maribel Verdú

Appearances: The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive (flashback) | The Flash

Barry Allen's mother, who was killed by an unidentified home invader.

See Alternate Timelines for information on her alternate self.

  • Adaptation Dye-Job: She's blonde in the comics, but here she has dark hair.
  • Adaptational Backstory Change: Nothing hints at Nora being of Hispanic heritage in the comics, while here she clearly is, what with speaking and singing in Spanish to Barry (while listening to Spanish songs) and speaking English with an accent, or cooking with basil, which is typically from the Mediterranean Basin, indicating Spanish origins. The actress is Spanish, also.
  • Alternate Self: Nora has one on Earth-Prime and one on Earth-90, along with any other worlds where Barry Allen exists.
  • Cuddle Bug: She gives a hug to someone who's (she thinks) a perfect stranger as soon as she feels he's troubled as seen with Barry (who's come back in time to ensure that she'll die to preserve the integrity of The Multiverse). Maribel Verdú has elaborated on this, about it being a Hispanic cultural thing to display such contact and emotions.
  • Deceased Parents Are the Best: Before her death she was shown to be a kind and loving mother to Barry.
  • Died in Your Arms Tonight: Her final moments were spent being cradled by her distressed husband.
  • Glasses of Aging: She wears glasses in the alternate timeline where she's never killed and gets to see her child become a teenager.
  • Missing Mom: Nora was murdered back when Barry was just a child. Due to her husband being sighted with her dying body, he was accused of the deed.
  • Nice Girl: She was incredibly open-hearted, offering a shoulder to cry on to a total stranger she'd met in the supermarket.
Nora: I know I'm just a random lady in a store, but... do you want a hug?
  • Posthumous Character: She died prior to both versions of Justice League, in which Barry and Henry Allen are formally introduced into the DCEU.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: She dies in the original timeline as result of a random mugging. Barry created a new timeline where said mugging never happened, but it's a timeline where Zod wiped out the entire planet's population, so she dies either way.
  • Too Good for This Sinful Earth: She was a very lovable, kind and open-hearted woman, and she got murdered.
  • Two First Names: Per a DC Comics habit. Allen is traditionally a male given name.

  • Alternate Self: One on Earth Prime and one on the pre-Crisis Earth-2.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: She may not be the most approachable woman, but it's hard to argue with her impatience towards Barry when his tardiness forces her to pick up his slack.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Despite her standoffish attitude, Patty shows a lot of enthusiasm towards the Flash when the Top was trying to ruin him, shown when she proudly brandishes a sign during the Flash rally.
  • Those Two Guys: With Albert.

  • Pet the Dog: While he might not think much of Barry, Albert does seem to be a fan of the Flash, as he was seen cheering for him during his rematch against the Top.
  • Those Two Guys: With Patty.

  • Oh, Crap!: Despite being a robot, it's able to look surprised when the Flash knocks its block off.
  • Robot Soldier: The X-51 comes equipped with a shoulder-mounted minigun. When its CPU is hacked, it nearly wipes out the team of scientists in charge of it.
  • Top-Heavy Guy: You've got to wonder how it's able to move (much less stand) with those tiny legs and its over-stocked upper body.

A young journalist whom Barry knew from his college years.

  • Alternate Self: Has one on Earth-Prime and one on Earth-90.
  • Damsel in Distress: Barry uses his speed to save her from a certain death in a car accident.
  • Head-Turning Beauty: She gets Barry's attention as they pass each other at the dog daycare. Barry is so smitten with her than when he rescued Iris he failed to notice her car exploding in the distance. It's through sheer luck that nobody got hurt.
  • Love Interest: To Barry Allen.
  • Nice Girl: She is very patient and accepting of Barry's odd quirks. When she accidentally causes Barry to think she is only asking after his father for her story, she later visits him to apologise and offer genuine condolences.
  • Race Lift: A mild example. Iris was originally a ginger Caucasian in the comics but she was made African-American in the Arrowverse's Flash TV series. Casting Kiersey Clemons is keeping in line with this specific incarnation.
  • Secret Secret-Keeper: Iris personally witnessed Barry save her life with his super speed, yet she never brings it up when they hang out.
  • Shiksa Goddess: She is the black love interest to the Jewish Barry Allen.

Species: Human

Citizenship: American

  • Healthcare Motivation: His poor health compelled Girder to work as muscle for a crime syndicate. When Barry finds out about this after helping arrest Girder, he offers to help the Woodwards out.
  • Morality Chain: He's the reason Girder turned to a life of crime, as his medical expenses were too high.

    Mayor Thompson

Mayor Thompson

Species: Human

Citizenship: American

Appearances: The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive

Mayor of Central City.

  • Badass Armfold: After showing the Top that he won't give into bullies, the Mayor defiantly strikes this pose.
  • Bait-and-Switch: It initially seemed like he was going to give into the Top's demands and sell out the Flash. Instead, he rallies the civilians to make an impromptu Flash parade.

    Sandwich Guy

Sandwich Guy

Species: Human

Citizenship: American

Played by: Kieran Hodgson

Appearances: The Flash

A sandwichhand who works at Barry's favourite cafe.

  • Deadpan Snarker: He responds to Barry's prompting with abraisivness. When the Flash manages to save an entire maternity ward over in Gotham City and comes back to find the sandwich guy has only just finished wrapping his meal, Barry has to deal with the guy's "fast enough for you?" comment.
  • Hipster: He carries himself with such a vibe, acting like making a sandwich is an art form and taking his sweet time doing so.
  • Serious Business: He puts his heart making sandwiches, even if it means taking an irritatingly long time to complete.

Amnesty Bay

    Arthur Curry

    Thomas Curry

Thomas "Tom" Curry

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/thomascurry.jpg
"Your mother always knew you are special."

Species: Human

Citizenship: American

Played by: Temuera Morrison

Dubbed by: Bruno Dubernat (European French), Manuel Tadros (Canadian French)

Appearances: Aquaman | DC's Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom Special | Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

A lighthouse keeper who became the human lover of the Atlantean queen Atlanna and the father of Arthur Curry/Aquaman.

See also the DCEU Alternate Timelines page for more information on Tom Curry and his family.

  • The Ace: Downplayed. Thomas is able to out-drink his half-Atlantean son, can score a hole-in-one at minigolf and holds the top score in shuffle-board at the local galley.
  • Alternate Self: He resembles the alien Abin Sur from Earth-12.
  • Florence Nightingale Effect: He healed Atlanna's wounds, and the two fell in love.
  • Good Parent: He raised his son as a loving father, and, most importantly, never spoke ill of Atlanna to him after she was forced to abandon them for their safety.
  • Hidden Depths: A humble lighthouse keeper, who has an extensive knowledge of classical history which he carried on to his son (and maybe even a few languages).
  • Interspecies Romance: He had a relationship with Atlanna, the Atlantean queen whose species evolved to adapt to underwater life. Arthur was born of it.
  • I Will Wait for You: He goes to the end of his pier every day at sunrise because Atlanna promised she would eventually come back to that place at that time. He does this for decades. His patience eventually pays off when Orm is defeated and Arthur becomes king of Atlantis, allowing Atlanna to come back to him safely.
  • Lighthouse Point: He's a lighthouse keeper.
  • Never Gets Drunk: While not immune to alcohol, his tolerance is so high he can drink his own superhuman son under the table.
Thomas: Want me to have them put that in a sippy cup for you?
  • One-Steve Limit: He shares his first name with Thomas Wayne, Bruce Wayne/Batman's late father.
  • Race Lift: Like Aquaman, he was originally a Caucasian in the comics and the actor playing him in the DCEU has Pacific islander ancestry. During a chat with Arthur, he mentions his own dad and the haka, specifically making him Maori. Which would make Arthur the world's first Polynesian-Atlantean.
  • Rescue Romance: He found an inanimate Atlanna on the reefs by his lighthouse and took her into his lighthouse to patch her injuries and offer tea. The two of them then fell in love.
  • Rich Suitor, Poor Suitor: The poor suitor (lighthouse keeper) to Orvax's (King of Atlantis) rich suitor. Atlanna preferred Thomas because he's a sweetheart and Orvax was a jerk who forced the issue at gunpoint.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: In the comics, Thomas was accidentally killed by Black Manta when Arthur was a young adult. Here, he survives to be reunited with Atlanna, and while in the sequel, Manta severely wounds him, he is treated and manages to survive.

Species: Human

Citizenship: American

Played by: Patrick Cox (leader)

Dubbed by:

Appearances: Aquaman

A gang of tough guys that frequent the tavern that Arthur and Thomas Curry drink at.

  • Bait-and-Switch: The way they approach Arthur makes it seem like they're planning to start a brawl with him not unlike Ludlow in Man of Steel. Instead, they just ask... if they can get a selfie with him.
  • Nice Guy: Initially they look like they're up to cause trouble in the bar, but it turns out they're just fans of Aquaman who want a selfie with him and end up partying with him.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: The leader is as rough as they come, yet his phone is hot pink.

"Welcome to Black Gold Cooperative. The first oil company run for the people, by the people."

Appearances: Wonder Woman 1984

"Do you have everything you’ve ever wanted? Aren’t you tired of always wishing you had more? You don’t need a pile of money or some business degree to get started. You don’t even have to work hard for it. At Black Gold Cooperative, all you need is to want it!"

A collection of investors gathered by Maxwell Lord for the purpose of monopolising the crude oil industry.

    In General
  • Corporate Warfare: Once Maxwell gains the power of the Dreamstone, Black Gold gets the jump on its competitors.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Maxwell figured he could beat hs competitors to the punch by looking for oil in untapped locations. It never crossed his mind that there was a reason those locations were untapped.
  • Executive Excess: The brand's image is dependent on Maxwell looking like a hotshot. This is partially the reason why it's financially in the red.
  • Incompetence, Inc.: The business is already floundering when it first appears, due to Maxwell's questionable business strategies.
  • Majority-Share Dictator: Maxwell takes the company in this direction once he gains the power to grant wishes, due to conning his partners into making wishes and only telling them the costs after the deal's been done.

"It’s over, Max. I don’t want to hear it anymore. I’m out."

Species: Human

Citizenship: American

Affiliation(s): Stagg Industries, Black Gold Cooperative

Played by: Oliver Cotton

Appearances: Wonder Woman 1984

"There is no oil. There never was. So how are you gonna turn it around? Get more sucker investors like me? It’s called a Ponzi scheme."

Maxwell Lord's disgruntled partner.

  • Adaptational Heroism: In the comics, Simon Stagg varies between a Greedy Jerk with a Heart of Gold and a straight up Jerkass who's involved in a number of ethically dubious actions. Here, he simply wants the money he invested back from Lord's failing company.
  • Age Lift: This version of Stagg is already elderly in 1984, whereas in the comics, he's usually this age during the current time period.
  • Alliterative Name: Simon Stagg.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Chewing out Max in front of his son was hardly nice, but he's entirely justified in calling him out for failing to live up to his promises.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: After getting presumably arrested thanks to Lord, he never appears again in the film.

    Alistair Lord

Alistair Lord

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_20210803_164052_youtube.jpg
"I just wish I could be with you..."

Species: Human

Citizenship: American

Played by: Lucian Perez

Appearances: Wonder Woman 1984

Maxwell Lord's son.

  • Children Are Innocent: When he finds out that his father can grant wishes, he uses his to wish for his father's happiness. Maxwell chooses to ignore this one out of guilt.
  • Morality Pet: Maxwell's only redeeming quality is his devotion to his son.
  • Nice Guy: Alistair thinks only of his father's well-being.
  • Satellite Character: He only exists to keep Maxwell Lord from being an unrepentant monster.
  • Twofer Token Minority: Asian and Hispanic. We never see his mother, but his facial features suggest that he's biracial, and Lucian Perez is this exact mix in real life.

    Raquel

Raquel

Species: Human

Citizenship: American

Affiliation(s): Black Gold Cooperative

Played by: Gabriella Wilde

Appearances: Wonder Woman 1984

"New investors are calling out of thin air!"

Maxwell Lord's assistant.

  • Beleaguered Assistant: She's overworked due to being the only employee Maxwell can afford to hire on a long-term basis.
  • Sexy Secretary: She functions as a hybrid of secretary and receptionist until Maxwell can afford more staff. She's also quite attractive.

Other Washington Residents

Leon

Species: Human

Played by: Mensah Bediako

Appearances: Wonder Woman 1984

A homeless man that Barbara is acquainted with.

  • Nice Guy: He's very pleasant considering his predicament.

    Babajide

Babajide

Species: Human

Species: Human

Citizenship: American

Played by: Kristoffer Polaha

Appearances: Wonder Woman 1984

An unnamed man living in Washington D.C.

  • Alternate Self: Has one on Earth-203 as a former superhero named Darkstrike.
  • Badass Bystander: He's just a regular unassuming guy with a good build. But he becomes this when his body is taken by Steve Trevor. Though it's unclear he was already a badass himself prior, or if that came from Steve.
  • Cosmic Plaything: To a ludicrous degree. His body is taken by Steve Trevor, gets dragged from D.C. to Cairo, and nearly loses his life in the ensuing chaos.
  • Double Standard: Rape, Divine on Mortal: After his body is taken over by Steve, Diana has sex with his body.
  • A Form You Are Comfortable With: A downplayed example, as the man himself is not threatening. He only looks like Steve because of the Dreamstone. Everyone but Diana sees him as his real self.
  • The Generic Guy: He has basically no traits to go off of beyond being a Nice Guy, and really only exists to give Steve Trevor a body.
  • Grand Theft Me: When Diana wishes for Steve to come back, his spirit takes over the body of the man.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: He has no memories of what happened while Steve took over his body.
  • Nice Guy: He's very friendly to Diana at the end of the movie.

Species: Human

Citizenship: American

Played by: Liam Hughes

Appearances: Peacemaker

"Fuck white power! Its the Devil! Means rock and roll forever, and tongue-kiss hot babes and smoke pot all day!"

Peacemaker's deceased brother.

  • Canon Foreigner: Created specifically for the show in order to give Peacemaker a tragic backstory befitting of his characterization.
  • Casualty in the Ring: Street fight, rather. Christopher landed a serious blow on his brother's face, and by a freak accident, this became a fatal injury.
  • Cool Big Bro: Despite fooling Chris into thinking he was a "butt-baby"note , subsequent flashbacks show the two to have had an amicable relationship, such that Keith's death still haunts Chris during the events of Peacemaker.
  • Posthumous Character: He's been dead for many years before the events of the show.
  • Too Good for This Sinful Earth: The flashbacks imply that, while he was subject to the same cruel upbringing, that he rejected his father's racist ways and wanted to be a good older brother to Christopher. So naturally, he gets killed.

    Eagly

Eagly

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/peacemaker_character_posters_03.jpg
"Jealous of a guy's pet eagle, much?"

Species: Bald eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus)

Citizenship: American

Affiliation(s): Peacemaker, A.R.G.U.S.

Voiced By: Dee Bradley Baker

Appearances: Peacemaker | Mortal Kombat 1

A male bald eagle that Peacemaker keeps as a pet.

  • All Animals Are Dogs: Eagly sticks his head out of Peacemaker's car window. He also shows some physical affection when he wraps his wings around Peacemaker like a hug. Zigzagged early on when Chris is asked if Eagly is housetrained, and he scoffs at the notion of trying to housetrain a bird of prey, likening it to draining away his soul.
  • American Eagle: He's no American turkey, that's for sure.
  • Amplified Animal Aptitude: Subverted and played for laughs. Vigilante mentions that Peacemaker consistently overestimates Eagly's intelligence and abilities.
  • Brutal Bird of Prey: Attack his master and he will peck and claw your eyes out.
  • Canon Foreigner: Eagly did not exist in the comics, as he was created specifically for the show.
  • A Dog Named "Dog": An eagle named "Eagly". The other ARGUS agents have a field day with this.
  • Nearly Normal Animal: Similar to Ratcatcher's rat companion Sebastian in this regard. It's almost exactly like a normal eagle, but it's more dog-like than eagle-like in many aspects, and has enough sapience and affection for its owner to hug him at one point.
  • Noble Bird of Prey: Peacemaker obviously keeps Eagly to complete his Captain Patriotic image. The ARGUS agents don't find it cool in the least, seeing it as desperate and burdened with an uninspired name.
    • Eagly will sometimes offer his master animals he's killed as food to share.
    • When the authority is chasing Peacemaker and Vigilante through the woods, Eagly comes to their aid by attacking some of the officers.
    • Eagly helps Peacemaker in fighting White Dragon before getting knocked out.
  • Tastes Like Friendship: The Running Gag of Eagly bringing freshly killed animals to Smith.
  • Unusual Pets for Unusual People: If The Suicide Squad didn't make it clear that Peacemaker was a jingoist, having a pet bald eagle should definitely do it.

Species: Human

Appearances: The Suicide Squad | Peacemaker

"It'll take some surgery but eventually we'll get him back to speed."

Peacemaker's orthopedic surgeon.

  • Bookends: In Season 1 Alandy appears at the start of the first episode and then the epilogue of the last. In the first instance she was treating Chris while in the latter she was treating Emilia.
  • Dull Surprise: She maintains the composure expected of a health professional while pointing out how miraculous it is for Peacemaker to survive the events of The Suicide Squad.
  • No Name Given: Her first name is never mentioned.

"I ain't trustworthy worth shit! Why do you think I'm mopping floors, bro? I went to MIT, I don't like the responsibility!"

Species: Human

Citizenship: American

Played by: Rizwan Manji

Appearances: Peacemaker

"As long as we make those other kids feel like shit, right? That's all that matters!"

A janitor who works at the hospital Peacemaker was admitted to.

  • Brilliant, but Lazy: An MIT graduate who would rather mop floors and smoke weed.
  • Child Hater: Jamil takes pleasure in making sure his daughter is the envy of her classmates. Keep in mind he expressed this sentiment shortly after Peacemaker insulted most of them.
  • Everything Is Racist: He calls Peacemaker "that racist superhero" because of the high number of non-white criminals he's killed. When Chris tries to point out that he's killed plenty of white people as well, Jamil says that since the number of white criminals he's killed is lower than the number of criminals of color, it shows that Peacemaker doesn't scrutinize people of his own ethnicity as much as he does others.
  • The Stoner: Jamil and Peacemaker once smoked weed together, but he states it was a one-time situation.
  • Uncertain Doom: It's not clear if he was the tour guide that was killed in the opening scene of SHAZAM! Fury of the Gods, or if it was a case of You Look Familiar.

Played by: Annie Chang

Appearances: Peacemaker

Auggie: Ching-chong chiggety chopsticks!
Song: I think your Google translate's off, Auggie. That means "my haircut looks like a donkey took a shit on my head".

An Evergreen police officer who investigates Peacemaker's most recent antics.

  • And Then John Was a Zombie: She's possessed by a Butterfly in "Murn After Reading."
  • By-the-Book Cop: Zigzagged and ultimately Deconstructed. While Song did technically disobey her superior Locke’s orders by arranging to have Auggie Smith freed from prison, she did so because of her dedication to the law. Smith was still framed for the murder he was charged with, and the true culprit was still out there. The deconstruction comes in when her meddling with Peacemaker and his involvement in the Butterfly conspiracy ends up leading to her (and later the entire police department) becoming possessed by the butterflies. To make matters worse, Locke was proven to be right, as Smith dons his White Dragon suit and attempts to kill Peacemaker for supposedly framing him.
  • Death of Personality: She's possessed by the Butterfly Queen, a process which essentially kills the person and leaves their body as an empty puppet.
  • Inspector Javert: A dedicated police officer determined to capture Peacemaker for his murderous acts. (even if the specific killing she is trying to take down him for would be all means be considered a legitimate case of self-defense, discounting the There's No Kill like Overkill nature of it). If it weren't for the wider Butterfly conspiracy, she'd be a Hero Antagonist against Peacemaker's Villain Protagonist.
  • Mauve Shirt: Gets several episodes of development as her own character before she's taken over by the Butterfly Leader. The blood, and the fact that Goff refers to her in past tense, makes it clear Sophie is dead. If that wasn't enough, Peacemaker shooting her makes sure that she can't come back.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Her actions in trying to uncover the truth about Annie Sturphausen's death led to serious problems for Peacemaker and his team. When she discovers that Auggie Smith is innocent of Annie's death, he's released from jail and plans on killing his son. When she gets an arrest warrant for Peacemaker, a chain of events leads to her getting taken over by the Butterfly leader, as whom she later calls in more Butterflies to take over everyone in the police station and the prison.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Song's determination to prove the truth when she doubts Auggie's arrest ultimately ends up doing more harm than good. Namely, she gets herself and her entire department killed by the Butterflies by unintentionally involving herself so deeply in the case.
  • Volleying Insults: Whenever Auggie Smith calls her by a racist slur, she usually fires back with an insult of her own.
  • What You Are in the Dark: Song could have simply ignored Auggie's protests of innocence and permanently locked away a dangerous white supremacist and supervillain. Her dedication to being an honest cop leads her to release him from jail when she does uncover the that he's been framed. Her reward is a complete lack of gratitude from Auggie himself, and new aggressive pressure from Locke. In the end, in her pursuit of the truth gets her killed in the course of her investigation.

  • Alternate Self: Has one on Earth-Prime and one on Earth-666, both of whom are also cops.
  • And Then John Was a Zombie: He becomes a Butterfly in "Murn After Reading."
  • Death of Personality: He's possessed by a Butterfly, a process which always kills the victim and reduces their body to a shell for the Butterfly to puppet.
  • Lame Comeback: He's not very good at complimenting Sophie's insults towards Auggie, only managing a "see ya, wouldn't wanna be ya", which deflates Song's more cutting insults.
  • Mauve Shirt: Although he doesn't get as much focus as Song, the audience gets a good idea of his character before he's killed in the Butterfly invasion of the police station.
  • Nice Guy: He's never shown to be anything other than a supportive partner and friend to Song.
  • Number Two: To Song. He's her partner, but Song takes the lead, and he mostly just supports her.
  • One-Steve Limit: Oddly enough, there are two individuals with the surname Fitzgibbons in the James Gunn Suicide Squad-verse. The other is the doctor who implanted the skull bombs in the movie.

  • Cool Old Guy: He seems fond of superheroes and he's not afraid to argue with Peacemaker about what makes a true superhero. It's also implied that he's at odds with Auggie, which is pretty cool.
  • Take That, Audience!: His argument with Peacemaker over Batman's killing/no-killing policy mirrors the real-life debate that's been going on ever since Batman Begins made that rule mainstream knowledge, only for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to revert back to the characterization of the Tim Burton films, which show Batman killing villains. Since the neighbor defines a superhero by the size and quality of their rogues gallery, his belief in a no-killing policy comes across as a bit shallow.

Palmera City

Reyes Family

    General
  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Jaime is clearly embarrassed by his family chanting his name to encourage him when he enters Kord's building to meet Jenny after her offer to give him a job.
  • Cathartic Crying: When Alberto dies, the Reyes family is breaking down, but Nana rallies them by saying that they don't have time to cry now when Jaime needs rescuing. After the climax and when they're safe and reunited in the Bug, she says that "now is the time to cry", and the whole family hugs and finally cries over Alberto's death.
  • Good Parents: Plus a good sibling, grandmother and uncle. All of them are supportive to Jaime and help him in becoming a superhero.
  • The Illegal: It is all but stated that Alberto, Rudy and Nana are all undocumented immigrants, with Rudy hesitating to call the police because they'll ask for documents while indicating the three of them, talking about how he and Alberto crossed the border, and saying he "feels a certain kind of way" about the word alien. It might have something to do with Nana's revolutionary past.
  • The Power of Family: The close bonds the Reyes family have with each other help keep them alive through the film. They rescue Jaime and each other when he's still figuring out his powers, stick together despite the odds, and Jaime only grows strong enough to defeat Carapax when he thinks that Carapax killed Uncle Rudy.
Jaime: You're wrong. The love that I have for my family, that's what makes me strong.
  • What Measure Is a Mook?: Zig-Zagged. Jaime makes a point of not wanting to kill Carapax when he has the chance, and Khaji reminds him of that later, yet his family shows no hesitation in slaughtering their way through countless guards to reach him. They are using Ted Kord's Blue Beetle tech, though, so said weapons are non-lethal by nature. But at the same time the Reyes family do not use the non-lethal weapons non-lethaly, such as using The Bug's legs to pierce a man's torso.

Species: Human

Citizenship: American

Played by: Belissa Escobedo

Appearances: Blue Beetle

"Did you know what was gonna happen to my brother when you stuck him with this world-destroying thing?"

Jaime's sister.

  • Affectionate Nickname: Her family often calls her "Mila."
  • Age Lift: In the comics, she's much younger than Jaime, being a young girl while he was in high school. They're much closer in age here, enough for her to have a job and also catch flack for not applying to college.note
  • Bespectacled Cutie: She wears very prominent glasses and has a high-energy personality.
  • Deadpan Snarker: She's easily the snarkiest member of the family and is always making cracks at their terrible luck. When the family talks about how Jaime is the first Reyes to graduate college, she toasts her glass and adds "And the last!".
  • Disabled in the Adaptation: Her comics counterpart doesn't wear glasses.
  • Girlish Pigtails: She sometimes wears her hair this way, a nod to her much younger comic counterpart.
  • Little Sister Instinct: Is pretty hostile with Jenny for the first half of the movie thanks to the latter unintentionally being the cause of Jaime being saddled with the Scarab in the first place, and is more than willing to Storm the Castle with Jenny and the rest of her family to save her brother.
  • Power Fist: She finds a Hard Light weapon in Kord's arsenal that creates one and a shield, which she uses during the island raid.
  • Skewed Priorities: For her, using a luxurious bathroom is more important than her and her brother being able to keep their jobs.
  • Womanchild: Shows strong signs of irresponsibility and immaturity early on when she gets herself fired from her job over a petty and stupid issue despite knowing her family is in dire financial straits and acts rather flippant about the situation, and later plays keep-away with an object her brother was asked to guard like a five-year-old.

Species: Human

Citizenship: American

Played by: George Lopez

Appearances: Blue Beetle

"Batman's a fascist! The Blue Beetle, he had a sense of humor."

Jaime and Milagro's uncle.

  • Alliterative Name: Subverted by his actual name (Cesar Reyes) but played straight by his nickname (Rudy Reyes) which he goes by far more often throughout the movie.
  • Alternate Company Equivalent: He's the Uncle Ben to Jaime's Peter Parker. He even gives him the With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility speech just like in Spider-Man.
  • Car Fu: He attacks Carapax with his car when he tries to kill Jaime.
  • Canon Foreigner: He was created for the film, with Jaime and Milagro only having aunts who are minor characters at best.
  • Cool Uncle: Jaime and Milagro both clearly have a high opinion of him, which he reciprocates by helping Jaime out by giving him advice and then helping him out with trying to find out the secrets of the Scarab. Rudy is basically like a second father to Jaime, supporting and encouraging him about as much as his actual father, and they even directly share an "I love you" with each other during one quiet scene. It contrasts Victoria being an Evil Aunt to Jenny.
  • Fanboy: It is revealed that he is a massive fan of the second Blue Beetle, Ted Kord. In an inversion, he is also an outspoken hater of Batman.
  • Friendly Address Privileges: He does not like being called by the nickname "Uncle Rudy" by foreigners and asks Jenny to call him by his real name Cesar instead. She obliges, until he eventually allows her to call him Rudy after he learns her father was the Blue Beetle.
  • Foil: Rudy is definitely this for Victoria Kord.
    • Rudy is supportive towards his nephew Jaime and will do whatever he can to save his life. Victoria does not have a good relationship towards her niece Jenny, even willing to kill her herself in the climax.
    • Rudy is willing to get his hands dirty while Victoria uses others. The only time she does something herself is when she tries to kill her niece.
    • Rudy gives Jaime a pep-talk about why the scarab chose him, even willing to rescue him after he’s captures. Victoria sees Carapax as expendable, manipulating him to do what she wants until he’s outlived his usefulness to her.
    • Rudy is willing to get his hands dirty in order to save his nephew, while Victoria is the Non-Action Big Bad that uses others.
    • Both have brothers that own a business. But Rudy loves his Alberto to the point that he’s devastated by his death, while Victoria is more or less apathetic about her brother’s disappearance apart from the bitterness she feels from him inheriting their father’s business instead of her.
    • Rudy greatly values his family while Victoria is so bitter about how she was treated that the concept of family members supporting each other angers her enough to want to shoot her niece.
    • Both are irritated by Jenny, though Rudy’s case is understandable, as she and Jaime inadvertently cause his truck to be heavily damaged. He eventually comes around, Victoria doesn’t.
    • Rudy admires Ted Kord after learning he was the Blue Beetle. Victoria is resentful towards her brother, and most likely doesn’t even know about his secret life. She would probably see it as a waste of the company’s resources.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: He is actually brilliant with electronics, building a portable jamming device capable of knocking out surveillance at a military contractor as a hobby and accessing and commandeering Ted Kord's technology with ease in minutes. Jaime calls him "a Mexican Doc Brown."
  • Hidden Depths: He's largely comic relief, but in a heart-to-heart with Jaime he admits that he sometimes feels like dead weight on his hardworking older brother and wants to prove himself like Jaime does.
  • Large Ham: Rudy is quite excitable. He tries to pry the Scarab off Jaime as soon as it latches onto his nephew but ends up wringing Jaime by the neck. He also cheers loudly when he drives the Bug and calls Batman a fascist as soon as he hears the name.
  • Papa Wolf: When he sees Carapax trying to kill his nephew, he charges his truck full speed before making a sudden stop to toss the huge jamming device in the back at the old soldier with enough force to send him flying.
  • Percussive Maintenance: Rudy's scrambling device only starts after he kicks it a couple of times. It also proves to work just as well on Kord's devices, to Jenny's surprise.
  • The Precious, Precious Car: How he views his customized, beloved truck, the Taco. Naturally, it gets more and more damaged from all the superheroing until it's finally totaled. Jenny buys him a new one at the end as an apology.

    Nana

"Down with the imperialists!"

Species: Human

Citizenship: American

Played by: Adriana Barraza

Appearances: Blue Beetle

Jaime and Milagro's grandmother.

  • Big Damn Heroes: Jaime temporarily loses his powers while the Scarab reboots itself, putting him in danger when he's cornered by Kord's soldiers. Thankfully, Nana is there to mow them all down with Ted's minigun.
  • Bilingual Dialogue: Jaime's nana only ever speaks in Spanish, even when people talk to her in English.
  • Braids of Action: When she picks up the gun and reveals her past as a revolutionary, she lets her two loops of braids fall down into a more martial style.
  • Blood Knight: She is grinning when she gets the minigun, and later laughs while using it and shouts "Down with the imperialists!".
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": She is only referred to as Nana while her actual first name is never revealed.
  • Foil: She might be this for Thomas Kord, Ted and Victoria’s father. Nana loves her sons equally. When Alberto dies, she tells Rudy that he needs to hold off mourning for his brother until they can rescue Jaime. Thomas had sexist views, giving Kord Industries to his son instead of his daughter, even though she was the one who helped him expand the company. This leads to Victoria becoming a bitter and spiteful woman.
  • Foreshadowing: When Alberto dies, Nana is the one who rallies the family, telling them that it's no time to cry and they have to help Jaime now. It's later revealed that she used to be part of a revolutionary movement, meaning she has experience with losing people she loves suddenly and violently.
  • Hidden Depths: Who would have thought the kindly old grandma is actually a former revolutionary in her youth and is well-versed in both military tactics and heavy weaponry?
  • Mama Bear: After her son Alberto dies, she goes very cold and becomes determined to rescue Jaime. Later, she pushes her armored and superpowered grandson behind her and mows down the soldiers coming to kill him with a minigun.
  • Never Mess with Granny: Do you want to face off against a minigun-toting grandma?
  • Noodle Incident: Details of Nana's past as a revolutionary is never fully revealed. Based on her age and Anti-Imperialist war cry, it was likely the Guerra Sucia, the "Mexican Dirty War" during the Cold War era.
  • Outliving One's Offspring: She loses one of her sons, after Alberto has a second heart attack.
  • Retired Badass: She was involved in a revolutionary movement in her youth. She's skilled with a minigun and helps plan the family's raid on Victoria's castle.
  • Stronger Than They Look: Who knew a grandma had enough strength to carry a minigun without any strength-enhancing equipment?
  • When Elders Attack: She joins the final fight by picking up a minigun. Without any strength-augmentations.

    Alberto Reyes

Alberto Reyes

Species: Human

Citizenship: American

Played by: Damian Alcazar

Dubbed by: Bernard Gabay (European French)

Appearances: Blue Beetle

Jaime's father.

  • Abled in the Adaptation: Zig-zagged. In the comics, he needed a cane to walk (due to suffering a leg injury in the past). Here, he can walk just fine, but also suffers from a heart condition which turns fatal.
  • Alternate Company Equivalent: The other half of the Uncle Ben figure to Jaime's Spider-Man, dying to inspire Jaime to be a hero.
  • Determinator: He's held his family together through decades and refuses to let anything get him down, be it a heart attack, losing their home, losing his job (many times over), or the Scarab. Not even his own death keeps him from reaching out to Jaime and giving him some closure.
  • Death by Adaptation: Alberto Reyes is still alive in the comics. Here, he dies from stress-induced cardiac arrest nearly halfway through the film.
  • Determinator: Alberto is a subdued version, but no matter what life throws at the Reyes family he refuses to give up. He brought his family to America, worked endless jobs to support them all, and even at the Downer Beginning (when he's had a heart attack, lost his shop, and they're losing their home) he remains steadfast, saying they're the Reyes and they'll make it work. When everyone else is panicking about the Scarab, he calms them down and gets them moving forward. Not even dying will stop him from getting one last talk with Jaime and helping him accept the Scarab, saving his son's life from behind the grave.
  • Disappeared Dad: Jaime and Milagro’s father Alberto suffers Death by Adaptation.
  • Disposable Woman: Gender-Inverted. Alberto's death from cardiac arrest allows him to have a talk beyond the grave and tells his son Jaime to embrace his new identity as Blue Beetle, giving Jaime motivation to fight on.
  • Family Man: A loving, supportive and devoted father, husband, and brother.
  • The Fatalist: A firmly heroic version. He sees all the hardships he and his family go through as just steps on a journey, having faith that the end will be worth it. When he meets Jaime posthumously, he's glad to know that his purpose to was to be there to save Jaime, and encourages his son to embrace his own destiny as the Blue Beetle.
  • Foreshadowing: Early on, it's mentioned that Alberto recently had a heart attack, though he insists he's now fine. When Victoria and her forces storm the Reyes' home, he has another, more serious one, which kills him.
  • Good Parents: He's a loving and devoted father to his two children, always ready to support them in their dreams and comfort them when they need it.
  • Major Injury Underreaction: When Jaime learns he had a heart attack, Alberto waves it off as "just a clogged pipe, I'm better now.".
  • Stuffed into the Fridge: Lampshaded. Not only does he die specifically to motivate Jaime to fully merge with Khaji Da, he seems aware of this in story, describing it as his destiny to die so he could help Jaime. And he's fine with it..
  • Tempting Fate: After his first heart attack, he says that he's better now. Cut to Victoria Kord raiding the Reyes residence and he goes under cardiac arrest...

Kord Industries

    General
  • Purple Is Powerful: Kord Industries uses a primarily purple aesthetic, from employees wearing purple to purple neon on the building and even a military drone.
  • Villainous Gentrification: Kord Industries is pricing people out from the Edge Keys for renovation and at the beginning of the film the Reyes' are three months from losing their home due to this. Luckily, Jennifer taking over at the end puts a stop to it.

Appearances: Blue Beetle

The daughter of Ted Kord. After meeting Jaime, she entrusts him with the Scarab that she stole from the company.

  • Canon Foreigner: Ted Kord has never had any children in the comics, let alone an adult daughter. Unlike Victoria, she hasn't been brought over to the comics either, and is far less likely to be.
  • Didn't See That Coming: The Scarab hasn't bonded with anyone since Dan Garrett, even though Ted Kord spent decades working on it, so Jenny figured that it would be safe with Jaime. She never expected it to bond with him.
  • Disappeared Dad: Her father was said to go missing for days, or weeks at a time. Then he went missing for years.
  • Everyone Has Standards: As much as she justifiably hates her aunt, she at least feels sorry that she lost out on inheriting Kord Industries from her father for the simple fact she was a woman but had a brother.
  • Good Wears White: Wears white or cream suits for most of the movie, only wearing black in the last scene for Alberto's wake. The Rich Have White Stuff is also at play considering her family's wealth.
  • Idiot Ball: She's shown handling the Scarab barehanded despite knowing what it'll do upon coming into contact with the right person, even by accident.
  • Ironic Echo: While first breaking into Kord Tower to get the key to Ted's secret lab, Rudy calls Jenny "cupcake" somewhat mockingly. She gives him a weird look but doesn't comment on it. In the last scene of the movie, Jenny calls Rudy "cupcake" when she asks him if he likes the new truck she bought him.
  • Lonely Rich Kid: She grew up alone as her mother died when she was 6 and her father eventually started to go missing- first for days, then for years. She bonds with the Reyes family precisely because of how united and tight-knit they are.
  • Missing Mom: Her mother died when she was 6. It is clear she misses her a lot when talks about her mother's last paintings.
  • Ms. Exposition: Jenny gives the Reyes family the need-to-know on what the Scarab is.
  • Spoiled Sweet: Since she owns a share of her father's company, she's a wealthy socialite, but also a very decent girl sharing her father's ideals.
  • Statuesque Stunner: She is dazzlingly beautiful and she stands taller than most of the men around her.
  • Uptown Girl: She is the beautiful and wealthy daughter of Ted Kord, who catches the eye of the humble and working-class Jaime. His family jokingly compares his situation to that of a gender-flipped version of María la del barrio's plot.

    Dr. "Sanchez"

Dr. José Francisco Morales Rivera de la Cruz / "Sanchez"

Species: Human

Citizenship: American

Affiliation(s): Kord Industries

Portrayed By: Harvey Guillén

Appearances: Blue Beetle

A scientist who works for Victoria Kord.

  • Actor Allusion: This isn't the first time Harvey Guillén plays a character who dramatically announces that his last name is De La Cruz.
  • The Dog Bites Back: After being ignored and misnamed by Victoria all movie (and implied to be years before that), Dr. De La Cruz helps Jaime escape, yelling his actual name at her before breaking the door separating them and Jaime.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: He's the scientific brain behind the OMAC project, but is ignored, demeaned, and misnamed by Victoria.
  • Everyone Has Standards: He's clearly uncomfortable when Victoria orders an attack on the Reyes' family home. When Jaime is captured, he also apologizes to him before activating the sequence to extract the Scarab's source code and tries to argue to keep him alive when Victoria gives the order to have him killed.
  • Foreign Cuss Word: Dr. "Sanchez" calls Victoria "pendeja", a Spanish slang term basically meaning "asshole" right before his Heel–Face Turn.
  • Given Name Reveal: His actual name is José Francisco Morales Rivera de la Cruz, which he shouts at Victoria when she misnames him one too many times.
  • Go Out with a Smile: He's smiling when he tells Jaime to run, content with his fate.
  • My Name Is Inigo Montoya: When the doctor finally has enough of Victoria, he yells out his full name to her as one final defiance while sacrificing his life to save Jaime.
Dr. de la Cruz: My name is not "Sanchez", pendeja! It's José Francisco Morales Rivera de la Cruz!
  • Redemption Equals Death: He helps Jaime escape and smashes the lock of the door to buy him time, knowing full well that Carapax will kill him for it.
  • Token Good Teammate: By far the least villainous compared to Victoria and Carapax. He shows hesitation at their less moral deeds and tries to argue for less violent methods, even telling her to keep Jaime alive so they can learn more about the Scarab that way. He eventually proves to be too good and pulls a Heel–Face Turn.

"Family is more than just a word. At Sivana Industries, our focus is family."

Appearances: SHAZAM!

A family-owned conglomerate, now destroyed by the machinations of Dr. Sivana.

    In General
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Advertises itself as a company that values family bonds, but its founder and his son are both uncaring assholes who abused the youngest member of their family. To say nothing of the founder’s other son.
  • Board to Death: Dr Sivana has everyone murdered, even though none of them had done anything onscreen to deserve it.
  • Leave No Survivors: All of the board members are slaughtered by the Seven Deadly Sins.
  • MegaCorp: The company is affluent enough to have commercials playing in the elevators, albeit their own commercials.
  • Privilege Makes You Evil: Anyone who has the Sivana name is shown to be a loathsome person.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: We never learn what had happened to the company following its high-ups being murdered in cold blood by the Seven Sins.

"You miserable whiny little shit! You could have killed us!"

Species: Human

Citizenship: American

Affiliation(s): Sivana Industries

Played by: John Glover

Dubbed by: Naoya Uchida (Japanese), Gabriel Le Doze (European French), Manuel Tadros (Canadian French)

Appearances: SHAZAM!

"Thad, you can't go crying to other people all the time. A man needs to know when to stand up for himself."

The father of Thaddeus Sivana and head of Sivana Industries.

  • Abusive Parents: Judging by his words (literally calling his son a "little shit") right before the accident and what his son has become, he hasn't been a good father. Worse, he does nothing to stop his older son from abusing the younger, even laughing when the older brother hits the younger one. Years later, he doesn't even seem that freaked out compared to his fellow board members when his youngest throws his eldest out of a window, leaving it ambiguous how much he called for the latter.
  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: He spends his final moments pleading for his youngest son not to kill him, even trying to bribe him with not only money but his company as well in exchange for his life. It doesn't work.
  • Alternate Self: One on Earth-97 as Jason Woodrue, one on Earth-19 also as Jason Woodrue, one on Earth-167 as Lionel Luthor and one on Earth-666 as Peter Peterson.
  • Asshole Victim:
    • Considering how poorly he treated his youngest son, it's hard to feel sorry for him when Thaddeus has him at his mercy.
    • When he's struck by a car in the prologue, a cheerful Christmas carol plays over it. This was immediately after demonstrating his superb parenting skills, so the audience is clearly meant to get a laugh out of it.
  • Casting Gag:
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: Downplayed. He's a ruthlessly self-centered Jerkass in charge of a billion dollar company. However, it's unknown if he did anything illegal while running said company, but he was a genuine jackass to his youngest son.
  • Create Your Own Villain: He, along with the Seven Deadly Sins, is responsible for making Thad descend into villainy.
  • Dirty Coward: He resorts to pathetically groveling to his son that he abused, which makes him hypocritical due to having chastised him for groveling himself before.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Belittling and insulting his younger son Thaddeus moments before the car accident — and then afterward blaming Thaddeus entirely for the accident when there was blame enough to go around.
  • Evil Cripple: Downplayed. He's a Corrupt Corporate Executive who's also an Abusive Parent, and the car crash at the beginning of the film left him paralyzed from the waist down. However, while he's a definite jerkass, calling him "evil" is a bit of a stretch.
  • Fantasy-Forbidding Father: He vehemently shuts down and belittles Thaddeus when he tries to explain his experience in the Rock of Eternity.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: Sure, while Seven Deadly Sins share this role to Thaddeus to help them, but he and Sid were the ones whose abuse planted Thaddeus' insecurities that the Sins used to get him to free them, making them the Greater Scope Villains to the Greater Scope Villains.
  • Hate Sink: He exists in the film to be purely despicable, the reason behind Sivana’s descent to villainy, and become his unfavorite son's cathartic target of his rampage.
  • Hypocrite: He's been a pretty bad father, and his company's marketing puts emphasis on family. Also, he chided Thad for crying for help. When Thad unleashes the Seven Deadly Sins upon his father, Thad uses his father's own words about crying for help against him.
  • Jerkass: He was an abusive parent to his youngest son, verbally abusing him for “not being a man” and allowing his eldest son to bully him.
  • Karmic Death: He’s a rotten, greedy businessman who dies at the hands of the unfavorite son he abused and belittled for ages. And his son has him killed by Greed.
  • Money Is Not Power: After seeing his son unleash the Seven Deadly Sins on the board of Sivana Industries, Mr. Sivana thinks he can appease his son by giving him money or total control of the company. Thaddeus responds that material wealth is nothing compared to physical power and that it's just a manifestation of the old man's greed. Then Thaddeus appropriately lets Greed kill him.
Dr. Sivana: What sin best befits you, father?
Mr. Sivana: I'll give you anything. Money. The company? You want the company?
Dr. Sivana: There it is: greed. Do you honestly think all this... material you've accumulated amounts to actual power?
  • Parental Favoritism: He's clearly playing favorites with his sons: he allows Sid to bully Thaddeus with impunity and yells at Thaddeus for asking for help; later in life, he gives Sid a high-ranking position at his corporation and doesn't allow Thaddeus to have any involvement at all (his panic-stricken offer to give Thaddeus the company in exchange for sparing his life notwithstanding.)
  • Parental Hypocrisy: He chastised Thaddeus for "crying to others" when the boy was being bullied by his older brother, but when his now-adult son shows up to exact his revenge later, the old man allows himself to cry for help and plead for mercy. This doesn't escape Thaddeus' notice, as he throws his father's words back in his face before killing him.
  • Patricide: On the receiving end of one when Thaddeus unleashes one of the Seven Deadly Sins (Greed, specifically) on him after having them kill the rest of the board of Sivana Industries.
  • Slimeball: He's a slimy Corrupt Corporate Executive who pride himself for elitist beliefs, while looking down at his nose towards Thaddeus.
  • The Social Darwinist: It's clear that he despises any form of perceived weakness; when the meek, bookish Thaddeus is being bullied by the stronger older brother Sid, Daddy Sivana not only does nothing to stop it, but he chastises the younger brother for asking for help instead of standing up for himself. This doesn't stop Mr. Sivana from calling for help and begging for mercy when Thaddeus exacts his revenge.
  • Unnamed Parent: His forename is never specified.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Thaddeus' Start of Darkness is partly due to the belittling and talking down his father subjected him to.
  • Upper-Class Twit: He and his eldest son Sid are rich and snobby elitist jackasses who belittled Thaddeus in his youth.

Appearances: SHAZAM!

"Outlook: not so good."

The older brother of Thaddeus Sivana.

  • Alliterative Name: Sid Sivana.
  • Asshole Victim: It's safe to say he hasn't treated his brother well, and the latter ends up killing him.
  • Big Brother Bully: He's introduced relentlessly bullying his younger brother Thaddeus.
  • Cain and Abel: Zig-zagged. Sid was a jerk to his little brother, making him the Cain to Thaddeus' Abel, but it's Thaddeus who ends up killing him, switching the roles.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: Downplayed. He's a ruthlessly self-centered Jerkass like his father with a high-ranking position in a billion dollar company. However, it's unknown if he did anything illegal while running said company, but he was a genuine jackass to his little brother.
  • Destination Defenestration: He's on the brutal receiving end of this by Thaddeus, who crashes into a Sivana Industries board meeting, grabs him and throws him through a window. That meeting takes place on a very high floor of the Sivana Industries skyscraper.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Taking away his younger brother's Magic 8-Ball, hitting said brother when he tries to get it back, and then using said toy to make fun of his brother.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: For what it's worth, he seems to be genuinely horrified when his dad is injured in a car accident. Years later, when Thaddeus threateningly approaches their father, Sid puts himself in his way and tries to threaten him away.
  • For the Evulz: When he was a teenager, he bullied Sid just for laughs.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: Sure, while Seven Deadly Sins share this role to Thaddeus to help them, but he and their father were the ones whose abuse planted Thaddeus' insecurities that the Sins used to get him to free them, making them the Greater Scope Villains to the Greater Scope Villains.
  • Hate Sink: He exists in the film to be purely despicable, the reason behind Sivana's descent to villainy, and become his little brother's cathartic rampage target.
  • Ironic Echo: His "Outlook: not so good" crack at Thad's expense is repeated by the latter during the boardroom massacre.
  • Jerkass: He’s a nasty Big Brother Bully who’s been tormenting his younger brother since they were kids, just for fun.
  • Karmic Death: Murdered by the little brother he bullied and belittled for his whole life.
  • Nepotism: Considering how much he benefits from Parental Favoritism, it's safe to assume that the high-ranking position Sid has in his father's company isn't just a coincidence.
  • Slimeball: He's a slimy Corrupt Corporate Executive who pride himself as his father's number one son to become a board member and to continue to look down at his nose towards his little brother.
  • Upper-Class Twit: He and his father are rich and snobby elitist jackasses who belittled Thaddeus in his youth.

"I appreciate your enthusiasm, but you're funding my project. And when I'm interviewing, I don't want to be interrupted."

A scientist who researches on the strange "hallucinations" dozens of people have had. All of those people were actually children who were summoned at the Rock of Eternity and failed the test of the Wizard Shazam. Thaddeus Sivana has spent years looking for a way to return to the Rock of Eternity, and funds Lynn's research to that end.

  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Upon touching the door with the symbols of the Seven Deadly Sins, she horrifically dissolves into ashes right before Sivana's eyes.
  • The Shrink: She seems to be a psychiatrist.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: She dies minutes after appearing onscreen.

The rest of Thaddeus Sivana's family, comprisng of his mother and two sisters. They only appear in an alternate prologue.

  • Bald of Evil: The Other Darrin version of Mr Sivana has his son's signature chrome-dome.
  • The Dividual: Thad's two sisters are identical twins that take turns berating him, even if it means repeating each others taunts.
  • Establishing Character Moment: In just a few seconds, every member of the family shows their contempt for young Thad. His father calls him weak, his brother physically dominates him, his mother passive-aggressively defers to her nasty husband and his sisters tease him for liking a girl.
  • Jerkass: All of them. Little wonder that the most sympathetic member of the family would grow up to become a super-terrorist.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: In the film itself, Sid and his father are fed to the Seven Sins. In an alternate take, Thaddeus himself storms the family's Christmas party and turns everyone to ash.
  • Spoiled Brat: Sid and the two sisters, with their mother possibly being a Gold Digger.

"Help me..."

Species: Human

Citizenship: American

Affiliation(s): A.R.G.U.S.

Played by: Cara Delevingne

Dubbed by: Jessica Ángeles (Latin-American Spanish) | Miyuki Sawashiro (Japanese) | Nastassja Girard (European French) | Geneviève Déry (Canadian French) | Carol Crespo (Brazilian Portuguese)

Appearances: Suicide Squad

"If you have to choose between her and me, choose her. Stop her! Even if it kills me."

An archaeologist who is possessed by Enchantress. She is in a relationship with Rick Flag.

  • Adventurer Archaeologist: June's day job; we see the expedition that landed her with Enchantress in a flashback.
  • Blessed with Suck: You'd think having the powers of a sorceress at her beck and call would be awesome, but every time she calls upon them, said sorceress takes possession of her body. She clearly finds the experience ''quite'' disturbing.
  • By the Power of Grayskull!: Transforms into Enchantress by calling her name. When she's sleeping, Enchantress makes her utter it so she can have complete control over her body.
  • Composite Character: She has traits drawn from both June Moon, the Enchantress's comic-book alter ago, and Karin Grace, Rick Flag's love interest from the 1960s version of the Suicide Squad.
  • The Cutie: Out of the main cast in Suicide Squad, she's the most pure and gentle.
  • Damsel in Distress: As Enchantress is using her body against her will, she's essentially a hostage during the final confrontation.
  • Demonic Possession: Her body is possessed by Enchantress.
  • Florence Nightingale Effect: Rick fell for her after seeing her vulnerable side. This was invoked by Waller, who thought it would make it easier to control both Rick and the Enchantress. While the plan didn't backfire, it wasn't enough to keep Enchantress from slipping the leash.
  • Light Feminine and Dark Feminine: The light, in that she's introverted and fragile while Enchantress is quite vicious and manipulative.
  • Love Cannot Overcome: June and Rick both realise that if Enchantress goes out of control, Rick will have to kill the woman he loves for the greater good.
  • Magical Barefooter: When Enchantress takes over her body she also changes her appearance. She has 2 outfits but neither of them include footwear.
  • Meaningful Name: June Moone. Enchantress's most prominent symbol happens to be the Moon, she wields darkness-related powers and her ancient language is called Moonspeak.
  • Mind Rape: Letting the Enchantress 'out' clearly feels like this to June, given her reaction whenever a manifestation ends. The only time she isn't obviously horrified afterwards is when the Enchantress's heart has been destroyed and June is (presumably) free of the curse.
  • Not That Kind of Doctor: She's a doctor in archeology.
  • Official Couple: With Rick, as invoked by Waller who assumed making them a couple would make them both easier to control.
  • Proper Lady: In contrast to the skimpy outfit and sensual movements of the Enchantress, June always dresses conservatively and doesn't try to draw too much attention to herself. She is also noble-minded enough to urge Flag to kill her to prevent Enchantress going rogue.
  • Satellite Love Interest: Her only characterization is as Rick Flag's love interest or Enchantress's host.
  • Say My Name: She summons Enchantress by saying her name.
  • Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: Her transformations leave her with no free will and it's implied that she's fully aware of the sinister deeds the Enchantress commits.

"We already have an Atlantean living among us and his name is Aquaman!"

Species: Human

Citizenship: American

Played by: Randall Park

Dubbed by: Jérémy Bardeau (European French), Gabriel Lessard (Canadian French)

Appearances: Aquaman | DC's Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom Special | Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

A scientist who discovered the existence of Atlantis, but has a hard time being believed about it.

  • Adapted Out: His role in Arthur's childhood and his becoming a superhero is removed.
  • Ascended Extra: In the first film, he only appears briefly in a newscast and The Stinger. In the sequel, he has a much bigger role and more plot relevance.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: He wanted to discover a grand, underwater kingdom. He discovers Necrus, the lost kingdom and by far the most evil one.
  • Cassandra Truth: He is entirely right about Atlantis, but nobody in the human world believes him, despite the Earth having gone though many extraordinary things like two alien invasions, evil dimensional entities devastating a city, the rise of metahumans, an Amazon-demigoddess revealing herself to the world and even the existence of Aquaman himself being public knowledge.
  • Driven to Villainy: Well sort of. He starts off as simply a curious scientist who dedicates his life to study Atlantis and prove it exists. He gets ridiculed, and ends up allying himself with Black Manta. The sequel makes it clear that him working for Manta is not entirely of his free will and that Manta will kill him if he does not help out.
  • Expy: Shin is based on Dr Walter Kornbluth from Splash, a scientist telling the truth about Atlantis but is ignored and so takes to villainous actions to validate his claims. Like Kornbluth, he redeems himself by saving a loved one of the aquatic realm.
  • Heel–Face Turn: After taking too much abuse from Black Manta and seeing his Sanity Slippage, he allies with Aquaman to stop him.
  • Ignored Expert: Nobody believes him when he points out it's Atlanteans who caused tsunamis and threw trash from the oceans on beaches.
  • Redemption Earns Life: The only member of Black Manta's forces to realize he's on the wrong side is also the only one to survive.
  • Trapped in Villainy: In Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, he quickly realizes he's in over his head with the increasingly insane Black Manta, but doesn't really have a safe way out. He eventually manages to double cross him and escape with his life.
