The Uzumaki Family

    The Family as a Whole
  • Affluent Ascetic: Despite Naruto and Ai's name being well-known for their careers in the entertainment world, with Kana even comparing them to royalty and especially with the income that Naruto accumulated through Jiraiya's Icha Icha novel series, they live in a modest household and only spend money on necessities like food, clothing, utilities, and their children's education. On the children's part, they refuse to indulge in their family's wealth thanks to Naruto and Ai's fair but firm, and supportive upbringing nor take advantage of Naruto's willingness to spoil them as it would make them no better than Spoiled Brats.
  • All of the Other Reindeer: Every member of the Uzumaki Family suffered from this.
    • Being made into the Jinchūriki of the Nine-tails/Kurama (specifically the yang half) and having this status secretly leaked to the public by Danzo left Naruto growing up a pariah. This leads to him being isolated by everyone in the village, but a few, at best among other things.
    • Ai reveals to Sapphire that while growing up, she was considered an outcast by her peers for being fatherless and her mother... not really being a mother at all. Even her time as a rising star in the idol industry and cautious nature left her without genuine friends besides the original B-Komachi members (even then, they weren't particularly close).
    • Aqua and Ruby get this treatment from their peers and their parents during kindergarten in a similar vein to Naruto's childhood for being "bastards" after their secret status as Ai's biological children is made public. This leads to Naruto secretly pulling off a successful string of vicious pranks against those parents.
    • Because of Sapphire's unnatural strength, she gets labeled as a "freak" by her peers. Chapter 27 even reveals that they're not above spreading rumors about her, leading Minato to secretly take action by anonymously releasing the perpetrators private information online.
    • Even Minato isn't exempt from this as his natural high intelligence leads him to be isolated by his peers out of envy. As he tried to remedy this with a polite attitude, it got him nowhere.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: All of them are kind and polite people who would gladly help others in need. But if you mess with any of them, then you have forfeited your social life at best and your actual life at the very worst.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: All of them are capable of advanced unarmed combat.
  • Breakfast Club: Initially a family of four attractive social outcasts, comprised of an otherworldly displaced Kung-Fu Wizard, a Japanese idol, and two reincarnated souls as her children, all orphans of either war, abandonment, and/or a Death by Childbirth and Raised by Grandparents, who band together to survive against a world that would otherwise reject them. Shattered Lies however differs from most "Breakfast Club Plots" in that whereas most other bands of this sort cannot stand each other, and refuse to change or compromise, the Uzumakis are bound together in love as they show each other nothing but their best, human and genuine selves to each other.
  • The Clan: They're essentially the revival of the Uzumaki Clan but in secret.
  • Family Theme Naming: In general, each member of the Uzumaki Family has a name that references a powerful "nature" theme in conjunction with their surname.
    • While Naruto's first name is short for "narutomaki", a type of spikey starburst-shaped fish cake ramen topping with a pink spiral design in the middle, the association with the "spiral" symbol compliments his surname nicely, which his full name is a reference to Naruto whirlpools (鳴門の渦潮, Naruto no uzushio), named after the city in the Tokushima Prefecture in Japan.
    • Ai's maiden name is Hoshino. Hoshi (spelled with the kanji in Ai's name) means "star" (星), and No (野) means "Field" or "Wild" (野生), and written together can be translated as "field/wild of stars". Combining her husband's surname name, Uzumaki, with her own, can mean "whirlpool/maelstrom of stars".
    • Aquamarine, Ruby, and Sapphire names can reference a gemstone.
    • Minato, as per Ancestral Name, means "Harbor".
  • Humble Hero: None of the members of the Uzumaki Family would ever think about openly flaunting their money, status, or abilities.
  • Karmic Jackpot: This applies wholeheartedly to all members of the Uzumaki Family.
    • For Naruto, by staying true to his kind personality and saving Ai Hoshino's life, he not only gains a new purpose in life and a loving family in return, but he also ends up creating the new Uzumaki Clan.
    • For Ai, she gets this big time compared to canon. By giving birth to her children, raising them, and repeatedly loving them despite her own hardships and risks to her career, she not only survived her deadly fate at the hands of Ryosuke but also gained a loving husband who truly understands her and makes her realize that she is capable of love, and eventually becoming the matriarch of the first, new Uzumaki Clan.
    • Aqua and Ruby also get this compared to canon as not only does Ai continue to be in their lives, but they also gain a loving stepfather and two new siblings, and become Naruto's heirs to the new Uzumaki Clan.
    • In a way, Sapphire and Minato's birth are part of the jackpot for their parents and older half-siblings.
  • Martial Pacifist: Enforced by Naruto. All of the members are knowledgeable in martial arts, but Naruto also made sure to instill this philosophy in each member to not use their skills for personal gain.
  • Meaningful Name: Like in the original Naruto series, Uzumaki can mean either "whirlpool" or "maelstrom." Which fits each member of the Uzumaki Family in conjunction with their given names.
  • Non-Idle Rich: Despite possessing enough wealth that would last the family for generations, it doesn't stop the members of the Uzumaki Family from getting out and working on their careers.
  • Not Hyperbole: According to Kana, the Uzumaki Family is so renowned throughout Japan's entertainment industry to the point that they're considered royalty, which unbeknownst to her and the world at large, they are royalty.
  • Pacifist Dojo: Justified due to the Uzumaki Dojo being run by Naruto and making sure to drill the Martial Pacifist philosophy into his children.
  • Quirky Household: All members of the Uzumaki Family are the most friendly, loving, humble, and supportive people you can find compared to some Japanese households. But as Kana and Akane also find out when having dinner with them at two separate points, they're also the most lively and rowdy bunched.
  • Rotating Protagonist: The POV switches from each member of the Uzumaki Family in a different chapter after Naruto and Ai's marriage.
  • Secretly Wealthy: Thanks to the Icha Icha novels' popularity across the globe, the Uzumaki Family are very rich to the point it'll last for many generations. The only people who know of the Uzumaki Family's wealth are Ichigo and Miyako, but other people also learn of this during and after the 12-year timeskip.
  • Serious Business: One sacred, traditional rule that Ai made is that all family members will gather together for dinner on every Sunday.
  • Talented, but Trained: All of the members of the Uzumaki Family possess incredible talent in their respective choice of careers, but they also work to bring that talent to their full potential.
  • True Companions: Despite their various quirks, the members of the Uzumaki Family truly love and support one another in their time of need. In fact, it's because of this tight bond and familial love that makes it easier for them to sell the lie that Aqua and Ruby are biologically related to Naruto, to the point that even Akane, who is talented in being analytical, can barely fathom (and refuse to believe) the idea that Ai either cheated on Naruto and/or had Aqua and Ruby with someone else despite having evidence that points to certain inconsistency with Ai's personal timeline; her behavior didn't significantly change from being somewhat apathetic to "lovey-dovey" with Naruto when she "supposedly" had Aqua and Ruby with Naruto at age 16, being careful with money despite having a connection to Naruto's wealth, and the fact that Aqua and Ruby lacked the Facial Markings of their younger siblings.

The Parents

    Tropes that apply to both
  • Absurdly Youthful Parents: Due to Teen Pregnancy, Ai became a mother when she was 16, and this also applies to Naruto when he masquerades as Aqua and Ruby's birth father. The two sired Sapphire together at age 20 and Minato a year after, and by the 12-year timeskip, both Naruto and Ai are currently 32 with four kids past 10 years of age.
  • The Big Damn Kiss: After Ai returns her love confession to Naruto at the Tokyo Dome on live television and goes to his home, they share their first, but long and passionate kiss in Chapter 5.
    • They once again have a very passionate kiss in their bedroom, this time described as the most intense moment of their lives, as it was filled with raw passion in Chapter 7.
  • Book Dumb: Neither of them did well in their respective academics while growing up, but both are proven to be smart and cunning in their own ways.
  • Birds of a Feather: Both of them suffered from Dark And Troubled Pasts involving absent parents and being the All of the Other Reindeer, and hiding away their sadness with a smiling front while struggling with the concept of love. Yet, despite their tragedies and hardships, strive to be their best selves and become loving parents. Also, they're both Book Dumb but are smart and clever in their own ways.
  • Doting Parent: Both Naruto and Ai are very attentive to their children and want them to live comfortably, though Naruto is more willing than Ai to spoil them. Thankfully, none of their kids want to grow up to be spoiled brats.
  • First Kiss: They both share their first kiss with each other in Chapter 5.
  • First Love: Despite Naruto having a crush on Sakura and even getting a Love Confession from Hinata during the Invasion of Pain Arc, and Ai having a secret dating history with several men during puberty and even bearing twins with her previous lover, they're both essentially this for each other as being the first person who they genuinely experience romantic love with.
  • Friendless Background: This applies to both Naruto and Ai as they grew up. What little interaction Naruto has with his peers that was not of him being ignored was either out of acquaintance or a personal rivalry until he got better by the start of his own story. Ai spent nearly her entire life being ridiculed by her peers for her family troubles, and even though she worked in an idol unit, she has no special attachment to its members.
  • Genius Ditz:
    • Naruto is still the goofy and Hot-Blooded guy we all know and love, and he proves himself to be a powerful and keen Shinobi and a popular writer who made him plenty of money that would last his family for generations.
    • Ai is a bit airheaded, but her looks coupled with her captivating aura make her an outstanding talent that fascinates people in the whole country.
  • Good Parents: Despite their own abusive and isolated upbringing, and the hardships that came their way, both Naruto and Ai love their children dearly and make sure they can grow up comfortably.
  • Grass is Greener: This is something that both Naruto and Ai realized after spending a lot of time reflecting on their circumstances; Naruto realizes that his former dream of being Hokage was only because he wanted peoples' attention and Ai's career as an idol doesn't allow her to truly experience the love she wants.
  • Happily Married: Eventually finding their One True Love with each other, both Naruto and Ai get married and have two more children. Even years later, they are incredibly affectionate with each other.
  • Interspecies Romance: Played with. Naruto and Ai are both fully human, but Naruto's family ancestry is traced back to Hagoromo's bloodline, and by extension, Kaguya of the Ōtsutsuki Clan, a literal race of Ancient Astronauts consisting of pale-looking Human Aliens (if full-blooded), thus making Naruto an Uneven Hybrid with a very small percentage of Celestial being.
  • It's All About Me: A more positive and reconstructed example. Both Naruto and Ai had rather selfish reasons for wanting to become a Hokage and idol respectively (Naruto wanted people to notice him while Ai wanted to understand love), but the intentions were born out of sympathetic desires for love and positive attention due to their own Dark and Troubled Past.
  • Living Emotional Crutch: Both of them become this to each other after falling in love, but moreso on Ai's end as seen with Naruto nearly hitting his Despair Event Horizon when she nearly died after giving birth to Sapphire and later him seriously burning down the entire world before he'll let her and their children die.
  • Living Legend: Naruto and Ai were considered legendary in their careers as writers and idols, respectively. After the timeskip, their surnames have become so renowned throughout Japan's entertainment industry that Kana outright compares them to royalty.
  • Living Lie Detector: Justified. Both Naruto and Ai are capable of sensing the lies told by others thanks to their experiences as a shinobi and idol respectively.
  • Love Confession: Naruto gives this to Ai in chapter 5, with her reciprocating it the next day by announcing it live in the Tokyo Dome and at the peak of her idol career.
Naruto: "No, Ai, please. I cannot keep such an important part of my hidden from you, because, I love you Ai Hoshino and of that I am certain."
Ai: "I just want to say one thing… Naruto-kun, I love you! I love you, Naruto-kun! Now and forever!"
  • Muggle–Mage Romance: Ai is a normal human while Naruto is a Shinobi who can wield Chakra.
  • Official Couple: Naruto and Ai become this at the end of Chapter 5, and they eventually get married before the timeskip.
  • One True Love: Naruto and Ai are this to each other.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Any time Naruto or Ai were to take a stern tone in talking to their children it's immediately a sign that they had messed up. As seen in the moment right after Aqua gives MEM-Cho an understandable What the Hell, Hero? scolding upon her confession of lying about her true age.
  • Oppose What You Suffered: Naruto and Ai suffered greatly from Parental Abandonment and Abusive Parents, respectively. This leads to them being Good Parents towards their four children: Aqua, Ruby, Sapphire, and Minato.
  • Rags to Riches: Both of them grew up with little money (Naruto lived on a monthly stipend provided by the third Hokage and Ai grew up with a single abusive mother before landing in an orphanage after being abandoned by her) until they turn to the age of 12 that involves gaining some working income (Shinobi for Naruto, Idol for Ai). After Naruto published his godfather's Icha-Icha novels, and the series became a global success, he accumulated enough wealth that would provide for himself, Ai, and their children for many generations. Also, Naruto and Ai's names became so renowned throughout Japan's entertainment industry that, according to Kana, they're considered royalty, and that's not getting into the fact that they're secretly the patriarch and matriarch of the new Uzumaki Clan.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: As much as Naruto and Ai loved their children and would be there for them in their time of need, they did not let their parental affection for them get in the way of disciplining them if they did wrongdoing, needlessly scolding others, or taking their side in a personal conflict with others unless if their children are being wrongfully harmed or unfair to others who had done no wrong towards them first.
  • Reclusive Artist: In-Universe.
    • As "Jiraiya", Naruto kept his public life private and made sure to keep strict control of how Icha Icha is handled by the media for collaborations and adaptations. Even after The Reveal of his identity, he still prefers his privacy as a writer and is mostly operating as a martial arts teacher and ramen bar owner.
    • Ai keeps her private life under tight wraps before chapter 5 and is only known by her given name as an idol.
  • Rescue Romance: Ai gained an interest in Naruto after he prevented Ryosuke from murdering her and her emotional support saves Naruto from his despair.
  • Retired Badass:
    • Naruto no longer operates as a Shinobi in the more peaceful world of modern Japan and currently works as an author and writer, as well as a martial arts teacher in the timeskip.
    • Ai was considered a rising star in the idol industry and after reciprocating her love for Naruto on live TV, she ended her idol career on a high note but still managed to find work as an actor during the timeskip before settling down entirely.
  • Sensitive Artist: Naruto's an author and writer while Ai is a Japanese idol, and they're very much a kind people.
  • Sexual Karma: As they both found their One True Love with each other, Naruto and Ai had passionate sex that resulted in Sapphire's birth. As a married couple, they would constantly have their private romps whenever they were alone with each other, and Aqua notes how "active" they are in their sex life.
  • Sickening Sweethearts: They have no problem showering each other with affection, even in public, much to some of their children's discomfort. It's to the point that Aqua has to drag both Ruby and Sapphire out of their proximity when the intimacy starts to become amorous.
  • Single-Target Sexuality: Once they find their One True Love with each other, Naruto and Ai only have eyes for each other.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: Played straight for Ai and gender-inverted with Naruto. They both fell for each other due to their kindness to one another and their kind and supportive treatment of Aqua and Ruby.
  • Smarter Than They Look: Both Naruto and Ai are rather lacking in the academic field, but they both are shown to be smart and cunning in their own ways as generally seen with how they still managed to keep their private lives under wraps during the 12-year timeskip to the point that nobody knew that they had two more children in the form of Sapphire and Minato.
  • So Proud of You: Many times they'll say this to their children when they do something good.
  • Teen Pregnancy: Ai gave birth to Aqua and Ruby at 16, and she and Naruto later sired Sapphire and Minato at 20-21.
  • Their First Time: Justified. Both of them grew up in not-so-stellar conditions that left them struggling to understand the concept of romantic love, especially in Ai's case as it's implied that she dated several men and had sex during her puberty before calming down at fifteen. When the two of them find their first and One True Love in each other, Naruto and Ai engage in passionate sexual intercourse near the end of chapter 7.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Justified.
    • Like always for Naruto, it's ramen, especially since it was given to him by the very few people who never showed him disgust or hatred.
    • While the rice was originally a case of Does Not Like Spam for Ai due to her abusive mother placing shards of glass in them and the orphanage's low quality, to the point that it contains sand, it becomes this trope thanks to Naruto.

    Naruto Uzumaki

Naruto Uzumaki

The former Shinobi in his home world. He's famously known by the alias, Jiraiya, the author and writer Icha-Icha novel, and currently writing a Light novel series about his father's life. Naruto is the husband of Ai Hoshino (now Ai Uzumaki), the adoptive father of Aqua and Ruby Hoshino (now Aqua and Ruby Uzumaki), and the father of Sapphire Uzumaki and Minato Uzumaki. He also currently runs the Uzumaki Dojo, a ramen bar, and is secretly the patriarch of the new Uzumaki Clan.

  • Action Dad: He's the father of four kids after the timeskip, and is still a capable Shinobi.
  • Alternate Self: As he learns from the Crow Girl in chapter 27, he's just one of the many iterations of "Naruto Uzumaki" in The Multiverse. But he's also unique in being an "original anomaly", which makes him Immune to Fate.
  • Always a Bigger Fish: Naruto is one of the strongest Shinobi back in his own world and is the only one, until the timeskip, who possesses Chakra in the Magic Realism world of Oshi no Ko, making him the World's Strongest Man who could, in theory, burn down the entire world if he wanted to. However, chapter 21 strongly implies that the Crow Girl is still leagues above Naruto in power due to her divinity and that's not getting into whatever the Fates are and what they're capable of.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: Chapter 21 has the Crow Girl outright calling Naruto, "The Breaker of Fates".
  • Artificial Limbs: Naruto can craft an artificial right forearm, made out of golden chakra.
  • Big Damn Heroes: In the first chapter alone shows him preventing the stalker from murdering Ai, thus setting off a major divergence in the story.
  • Big Eater: He loves to eat ramen in his spare time, and the number of ramen bowls can rise quickly.
  • Boyfriend-Blocking Dad: He's really against the idea of his two daughters gaining boyfriends, and Ruby muses about him skinning Goro alive on the off-chance she does reunite with him and make their relationship work.
  • Broken Hero: Naruto's childhood was filled with nothing but hardships, but not entirely devoid of love, and it only got worse by his failure to redeem Sasuke and being Trapped in Another World. While he does end up regaining his hope in the form of Ai Hoshino and their children, beneath his kindly persona lies a dangerously unstable man who is tired of losing the things he loves and is willing to go through extreme measures to protect them.
  • Bumbling Dad: He tends to be like this for his children due to his more eccentric quirks, which makes it easy for them to forget that he's the strongest Shinobi back in his world. Even Kana is surprised at how lax he is with raising his children, though he is still firm at times, especially when she balks at Ruby openly calling him an idiot.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: His beatdown on Ryosuke is a complete Foregone Conclusion given his former status as one of the strongest Shinobi in his world.
  • Cynicism Catalyst: He starts the story off as The Cynic due to his failure to redeem Sasuke and being Trapped in Another World for three whole years with no way of getting back home as a final "middle finger" gesture from the dying former friend.
  • Disappointed by the Motive: He's clearly unmoved by Ryosuke's "reasons" for wanting to murder Ai, and is only convinced that the man is scum who's deserving of death.
  • Disowned Sibling: To show how much Sasuke's betrayal, his refusal to change at the very end, and sending Naruto to another world as a Dying Curse had affected him, he practically disowns and disavows Sasuke both as a brother and a friend respectively. All while lamenting that he should've known better and killed the treacherous, self-centered bastard when he had the chance if it weren't for his promise to Sakura and his own honor.
  • The Empath: He can still sense negative emotions despite no longer having Kurama inside of him. Also, by having others touch his Chakra-constructed right arm, they can not only feel his true emotions but also see his past experiences and more.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Naruto may be a ninja and prankster who is not above pragmatism in a fight, but people who rely on anonymous identities to protect themselves while simultaneously dishing out potshots are nothing but the worse form of Dirty Cowards in his view. It's one thing to harass others directly to their face, and another thing to do so while having a political and social, and/or financial shield. But cyberbullying and anything similar to that is a very big low of cowardice that even Naruto wouldn't dare step into.
  • Failure Hero: At the end of his own story, Naruto is unable to redeem Sasuke, fails to save everyone from the Infinite Tsukuyomi, is unable to fulfill his promises and achieve his dreams, and is currently spending the rest of his life in a different world.
  • Fish out of Water: While he was initially confused about his new surroundings, it didn't take Naruto long to fit within the Magic Realism world of Oshi no Ko after three years due to Japan's similar culture and language.
  • Fish out of Temporal Water: Played with. Naruto comes from a world filled with Schizo Tech while his new environment is Like Reality, Unless Noted in The New '20s, but with a dash of Magic Realism.
  • Good Is Not Soft: He's still the Nice Guy we all know who prefers to solve conflicts without bloodshed. But make no mistake, Naruto is still a trained Shinobi and a Tragic Hero at that, and if you prove yourself to be unrepentant Jerkass willing to kill for the flimsiest reason or For the Evulz, your life is over.
  • Good Stepmother: Gender-Inverted and exaggerated due to his masquerade as Aqua and Ruby's birth father. And for all intents and purposes, he sees Ai's children as his own regardless.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: He sports blond hair and is a Nice Guy despite his Dark and Troubled Past.
  • Handicapped Badass: He's physically disabled due to only having one arm, and his non-dominant arm at that, as well as only having a mass of Kurama's chakra sealed inside. That doesn't stop him from being a force to be reckoned with, and more justifiably so due to his superhuman abilities and ninja training.
  • Healing Factor: Thanks to his Uzumaki genes, Naruto possesses a powerful healing factor that allows him to survive injuries that would normally be fatal or cripple him for life. It doesn't allow him to regenerate a lost limb, however.
  • Henpecked Husband: Downplayed and invoked. Despite being the World's Strongest Man and World's Best Warrior, Naruto tends to be a bit submissive towards Ai's demands and wishes at times, mainly due to his grounded mindset and respect for her.
  • Hero of Another Story: Do we even need to ask?
  • Hidden Depths:
    • Played for Laughs. While Naruto is normally hardworking, Ai finds out during their married life that he can be quite lazy at times.
    • Even though Sasuke is long dead to him and practically disowned, he still sees his inability to save and redeem him as one of his biggest failures in chapter 27.
  • Hypocritical Humor: He playfully chastises Ai as a pervert due to her daily flirting and teasing, but it's very clear he's Not So Above It All, whether it was in his own world or current one. Plus, the fact that he's the author and writer of his godfather's Icha Icha novels and gained plenty of wealth from the global success of the series by appealing to a large demographic of closet perverts doesn't help.
  • Immune to Fate: As a result of him being an "original anomaly", he's no longer tied to the web of destinies and fates. This also has the side-effect of him being immune to beings with clairvoyance as he cannot be predicted by them anymore.
  • Knight of Cerebus: A rare, inverted heroic example with Naruto. His ninja training and superhuman and Chakra abilities take off some of the life-threatening aspects of the more mundane characters.
  • Kung-Fu Wizard: While Naruto is capable of using Real Life stealth techniques used by classic ninjas and assassins, in effect, he functions more like this trope, being a heavily trained and experienced martial artist/guerilla soldier with Chakra used in all sorts of manners like classical wizardry.
  • Metaphorically True: In a way, Naruto's promises to Nagato, Jiraiya, and Obito to bring peace to the Shinobi world and to Sakura to bring Sasuke home are technically fulfilled as there's no one left in his own world that's alive to continue the Cycle of Revenge and Sakura was fatally wounded before Naruto and Sasuke had their final grudge match.
  • Mouth To Mouth Force Feeding: A very heartwarming example with Ai, causing her previous dislike for rice to become one of her favorite foods.
  • Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: Played with. By the standards of the world of Kaguya-Sama: Love is War and Oshi no Ko, Naruto is practically the World's Strongest Man and World's Best Warrior thanks to his Chakra abilities and superhuman physiology. However, even back in his own world, he's already become one of the strongest Shinobi thanks to a combination of his intense ninja training and battle experience, being the reincarnation of Asura, Uzumaki heritage, Jinchūriki status, Sage Mode, and receiving the Six Paths' power from Hagoromo himself.
  • One-Armed Warrior: As a result of not receiving an artificial arm like in canon since he got transported to another world, Naruto has only one arm, but it doesn't stop him from literally being the strongest character in Oshi no Ko world, and it doesn't hinder his fighting style at all. Aqua even notes that his adoptive father is a force to be reckoned with.
  • Oppose What You Suffered: After suffering a childhood filled with scorn and isolation as a Jinchuriki, Naruto is vehemently opposed to any of his children becoming a Jinchuriki as well when the subject is brought up by Shukaku.
  • Outside-Context Problem: Naruto's very existence in the world of Oshi no Ko is this as the Crow Girl explains that he was never meant to be transported to there from his own world and neither would his rescue of Ai due to her death being fated to end by Ryosuke's hands.
  • Outside-Genre Foe: A downplayed heroic example. For the mundane villains and jerks of Oshi no Ko, Naruto is clearly someone who doesn't fit within the medium due to his more fantastical powers. However, he is a former Shinobi and a master prankster, allowing him to navigate through the "world of lies" quite well.
  • Papa Wolf: He's fiercely protective of Aqua and Ruby, even before his official marriage with Ai. When they were being isolated by the other kids and labeled as "bastards", Naruto took it upon himself to get back at the parents of those kids through a long vicious streak of pranks when legal action is unavailable.
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: Depending on the person or group, Naruto has no problems doing bad things to them in return if they were harming innocents or his family.
  • Parental Substitute: Naruto became a father figure to Aqua and Ruby as they got to know each other, and even started to see him as their father even before officially becoming their legal adoptive father when he married Ai.
  • Plagiarism in Fiction: Justified. Technically, the Icha-Icha novels belong to Naruto's godfather, but no one in the current world, besides his family, knows his true background, allowing Naruto to get away with it. That being said, this is played incredibly sympathetically due to his tragic circumstances, as well as his lack of education and physical disability, and moral standards that left him with few career options in the current world, and at the very least, Naruto uses the novels under Jiraiya's name to honor the man.
  • Power Perversion Potential: Invoked by Ai's request upon learning of Naruto's ability to create shadow clones and use his Ki Manipulation to "vibrate" his hands and other... parts of his body in their endless sexual activities.
  • Powerful and Helpless: He's one of the strongest Shinobi of his homeworld and is practically an Invincible Hero in his new one. But with his original drive and dreams being unsalvagable, the obvious consequences of revealing his Chakra abilities to the world, and being unwilling to take up Shinobi work in the form of a criminal, Naruto is reduced to a popular but secluded writer with the initial intent to live out the rest of his natural life until his fateful meeting and rescue of Ai Hoshino.
  • Properly Paranoid: Justified. The military life of a Shinobi is littered with violence, deception, lies, and backstabbing back in his world, and Naruto is no different despite his idealistic personality and rejection of the ordinary ninja way. After suffering a personal betrayal from Sasuke, Naruto becomes rightly paranoid about any threat that would befall his family due to Ryosuke and the idea of Hikaru, to his current knowledge, possibly being the mastermind.
  • Screw Destiny: Similar to his canon counterpart, Naruto doesn't believe in the idea of predestination and resolves to make his own fate. The fact that his very existence in the world of Oshi no Ko should be a big clue, even though things didn't go as planned, and later his Big Damn Heroes moment saves Ai from being killed, which the Crow Girl told Aqua in canon that that event is fated to happen. The Crow Girl even appropriately calls Naruto, "The Breaker of Fates".
  • Secretly Wealthy: Thanks to Naruto publishing the Icha Icha novels, it eventually became super popular across the globe that it translated into multiple languages, with Ai, Ichigo, and Miyako completely surprised at how much he's rich, even the latter wondering how many zeroes there are. Aqua even notes with the amount of money his adoptive father has, it'll last many generations in the Uzumaki Family. The only ones who know about Naruto's richness are his family, Ichigo, and Miyako.
  • Sole Survivor: He's the only human, Uzumaki, and being of his own world whose currently alive as everyone else is either killed, trapped within the Infinite Tsukuyomi and fed to the God Tree, or condemned to a slow death with no means of repopulation.
  • Taught by Experience:
    • As a former Shinobi, Naruto is accustomed to lies and deceit, which leaves him with a Hyper-Awareness that makes him a Man of Kryptonite in the "world of lies" of Oshi no Ko.
    • Ever since Sasuke's betrayal, Naruto is left with a deep-seated paranoia concerning any would-be threats to his family. That being said, he's still reasonable to the point of giving Ai's former boyfriend, Hikaru, the benefit of the doubt despite having a very (justified) suspicion of him being The Man Behind the Man, mainly out of trust in his wife.
  • Tragic Keepsake: Naruto keeps a photograph of his parents and the leftover Chakra of Kurama to remember them.
  • The Trickster: Just because he's no longer a Shinobi doesn't mean that Naruto lets his deceptive skills and prankster talent go to waste. As seen when he secretly launched a one-man crusade against the parents of the children who isolated Aqua and Ruby by pulling a long vicious streak of pranks in retaliation.
  • Uneven Hybrid: While Naruto is fully human, his mother's family lineage mostly descends from the Ōtsutsuki Clan, making him part Celestial being.
  • Warrior Poet: He's a former Shinobi and a very popular, but private author and writer.
  • Write What You Know: An In-Universe example. After the 12-year timeskip, Naruto intends to write a novel of his own creation that's based on his father's life and published the first volume of the light novel, The Story of Minato Namikaze, during chapter 25.

    Ai Uzumaki

Ai Uzumaki, née Hoshino

A former famous idol of B-Komachi. Ai is the wife of Naruto Uzumaki, and the mother of Aqua, Ruby, Sapphire, and Minato Uzumaki. She's also secretly the matriarch of the new Uzumaki Clan.

  • All Women Are Lustful: Compared to Naruto, Ai is the more perverted one in their relationship.
  • Ascended Extra: In Oshi no Ko, Ai was a Decoy Protagonist who only lasted for 9 chapters (in the anime, she doesn't even last one episode) before being Killed Off for Real. Here, she's Spared by the Adaptation thanks to Naruto's intervention and is one of the main characters.
  • Believing Their Own Lies: Invoked by Ai and suggested by Ichigo. By lying to herself that she's capable of love as an idol, Ai believed that one day, the lies would eventually become truth. However, as she bonds with Naruto, the latter points out that It Was with You All Along by looking back on her treatment of Aqua and Ruby.
  • Big Sister Instinct: She comforts Mem-Cho when the latter is having a Heroic Self-Deprecation, pointing out that age shouldn't matter when becoming an idol due to her own previously single motherhood with raising Aqua and Ruby and the risks that came with it. All while giving her a You Are Better Than You Think You Are speech regarding her fidelity and personal sacrifices, as those alone prove that she's already an idol in her eyes.
  • Breaking the Cycle of Bad Parenting: Her mother was abusive, treated her as an unwanted existence, and implied to have tried to kill her by putting a shard of glass in her rice bowl before ultimately abandoning her. Ai's own treatment of Aqua and Ruby, and eventually Sapphire and Minato, is literally the opposite.
  • Character Development: Went from an Insecure Love Interest in a belief that she's incapable of loving someone to a wiser woman who embraces her true feelings.
  • Character Tics: Even after being Older and Wiser, Ai still holds her chopsticks awkwardly, according to Akane in chapter 28.
  • Composite Character: She's essentially this for Hinata Hyuga in the fic by serving as Naruto's First Love and eventual wife.
  • Cool Big Sis: She acts like this for MEM-Cho in chapter 30, as the latter is only 8 years her junior.
  • Country Mouse: She was originally born and grew up in a rural area of Japan.
  • Covert Pervert: Due to fully realizing the meaning of love, as well as loving to read the Icha Icha novels, Ai daily flirts with Naruto and teases him to the point he describes his wife as a pervert of the highest caliber. She even gives a private live performance as an idol to her husband only (noting that her days as an idol weren't over yet, for Naruto) as she even kept her idol outfits at home.
  • Death by Childbirth: Narrowly averted after giving birth to Sapphire.
  • Does Not Like Spam: Like the 45510 canon novel, Ai doesn't like to eat rice due to her abusive mother intentionally placing shards of broken glass in it and the orphanage's poor rice quality that, according to Ai, had sand in it. This becomes inverted thanks to Naruto feeding Ai rice through a mouth-to-mouth kiss.
  • Exotic Eye Designs: Ai has six-pointed stars in her eyes, matching her punny family name. They're a visual shorthand for her particular mystique and are even visible to anyone in-universe.
  • Feeling Their Age: While Ai has aged much, much more graceful than her former co-stars, she no longer has the stamina to handle the long periods of idol performance in the past.
  • Go Out With A Bang: A non-fatal example. By reciprocating Naruto's love confession live on television at the end of her idol performance in the Tokyo Dome, especially at the peak of her career, she essentially killed her reputation to be with the man she grew to genuinely and romantically love.
  • Hates Their Parent: Although hate is a strong word, and Ai still seems to hold some affection for her mother on a certain level, it's very clear to Ai that her mother was an incredibly selfish person and is clearly hurt by her abuse and eventually abandonment, even if she doesn't outwardly show anger or hatred. It's especially telling that despite her brief meeting with Naruto's parents in the realm between life and death, Kushina's motherly affection for her daughter-in-law (as well as calling her Musume (i.e. (my) daughter)) was more than what her own mother would ever show to her.
  • Hope Bringer: As Naruto despaired from being never able to return to his homeworld, all of his friends were gone, unable to save Sasuke, his dreams were crushed, returned to loneliness: It was Ai who saved Naruto from his loneliness, made him remember who he was, as she's his star and the light in the dark, as he loves Ai so much that he can't imagine his life without her.
  • Housewife: She becomes this during the 12-year timeskip, although she eventually works on being a coach for the up-and-coming idols of the new B-Komachi.
  • Like Mother, Unlike Daughter: Ultimately, Ai proves herself to be better than Ayumi through her genuine love and devotion for Aqua and Ruby's well-being, even if she initially didn't believe herself to be capable of it. This not only saves and earns the affection of Naruto Uzumaki, but Ai's life and future become far brighter, happier, and more successful as a result, whereas Ayumi remains a miserable, old woman living in solitude.
  • Magical Girlfriend: Ironically, she serves as this for Naruto despite him being the "magic" one. However the trope still fits due to her own mystical theme as an idol, and by serving as the light in his light and giving him a new purpose in life after his previous failures.
  • Mistaken Age: Lampshaded by Naruto in chapter 27. Despite already giving birth to four children, Ai still looks like she's in her 20s, which could allow her to pass off as younger. Combined with her ditzy personality, Ai would be mistaken for a girl in her mid to late teens with the idea of her being a mother, let alone being married, the last thing that would pop into people's minds.
  • Morality Chain: Just as much as Ai serves to help Naruto continue to live in his current life, her well-being also tethers his deep-seated emotional instability to the point that if she, or if any of their children, were to die, then Naruto would have nothing left to lose and decimated the entire world in retribution, that is if he doesn't destroy the world beforehand to keep her and their children safe.
  • Ms. Fanservice: The narration loves to describe Ai's beautiful appearance and curves, along with Naruto's delight whenever the two engage in "private time". It's more impressive of Ai as a 32-year-old mother who gave birth to four children no less, the first two being twins and the third child that nearly led to her death.
  • Older Than They Look: Lampshaded by many characters throughout the fic. Even well into her early 30s and after giving birth to a total of four kids (the first two were twins and the third one nearly killed her), Ai's physical appearance is still the same as when she first met Naruto. This is more noticeable when comparing Ai's physical appearance to two of her former Idol co-stars, Nino and Takamine, in chapter 132 of the canon manga.
  • Rags to Royalty: From a Country Mouse to a popular idol and actor, and finally the first matriarch/princess of the new Uzumaki Clan.
  • Really Gets Around: A far more sympathetic example. During her desire to love and be loved back she indulged in somewhat destructive behavior despite her somewhat improved life after being picked up by Saitou; Producer Kaburagi indicates Ai dated several men during her puberty and Akane figures that Ai's emotional instability is typical for kids who had sex during puberty, though as Akane continued her research into Ai, what she found indicates that Ai calmed down at around the age of 15.
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: Invoked for her husband's eyes and his eyes only.
  • Shed the Family Name: After her marriage to Naruto, Ai happily took up "Uzumaki" as her new surname.
  • Shipper on Deck:
    • For Aqua and Akane. Once Aqua and Akane become an Official Couple, Ai wastes no time teasing them about their relationship and often "encourages" them to give her grandchildren.
    • She also does this for Minato and Kana, but indirectly given the latter's feelings for Aqua still going strong and waiting for their romance to bloom out of friendship.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Thanks to Naruto's interference and stopping Ryosuke from killing Ai, she ends up surviving the terrible encounter.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Hmm... let's see. A purple-haired girl who is much shyer than she originally was with Exotic Eye Designs. Meeting a Hot-Blooded blond Shinobi who saves her from harm, falling in love with him, and later marrying and having two kids with him. She very plausibly could be Hinata Hyuga from an alternate universe. Even Shukaku mentions her In-Universe similarity to Hinata in chapter 31.
  • Uptown Girl: Inverted. Ai was originally a Country Mouse until she was scouted by Ichigo and became a popular idol, although it still didn't pay much, especially when she had to raise Aqua and Ruby in secret. Her lover and eventual husband, Naruto, is a popular, but secluded writer who gained plenty of wealth thanks to the global success of Icha Icha, as well as the child of the Fourth Hokage and a survivor of the defunct, but powerful Uzumaki Clan.
  • When She Smiles: Despite her Stepford Smiler tendencies, Ai smiles for real in her interactions with her children and Naruto. Her real smile was the first step for Naruto to regain his hope.
  • Worth It:
    • She gave birth, raised, and loved Aqua and Ruby with all her heart despite the numerous risks and consequences it'll have to her reputation as an idol. Naruto even points this out as proof that her love for children is genuine and not another lie to tell herself.
    • Then later upon hearing Naruto's Love Confession the day before her live performance in the Tokyo Dome, which would peak her career, she threw away the fame of being an idol at the end by giving one last grand performance and reciprocating his feelings live on television.

The Children

    In General
  • Adoption Angst: A reoccurring problem that Aqua and Ruby have with their stepfather Naruto is their lack of blood relation to him and therefore, not "true" members of the Uzumaki Clan. At two separate points, Naruto makes it clear that he loves them regardless and rejects the idea of "blood ties" being the absolute factor in family relations.
  • Bastard Angst: Justified due to Real Life Japanese society's view on illegitimate children. As a result of Ai revealing their existence in the fic, Aqua and Ruby both get ostracised by their peers and their peers' parents for being "bastard children", which forces Naruto to secretly get back at those parents through a vicious streak of pranks. This eventually becomes subverted thanks to Naruto marrying Ai, who is also masquerading as the twin's birth father, thus making the twin's birth status legit, but on paper only.
  • Exotic Eye Designs: Ai, Aqua, Ruby, Sapphire, and Minato have stars in their eyes, matching the punny family name. However, Aqua and Ruby only inherited this in one eye each with Aqua's star being in his right eye, while Ruby's star is in her left eye.
  • Half-Sibling Angst: Averted. Aqua and Ruby don't care about the semi-lack of blood relation they have with Sapphire and Minato. If anything, they're more worried about not being considered "true" Uzumaki children because of their lack of blood relation to Naruto.
  • Heroic Bastard:
    • Aqua and Ruby's reincarnated selves count as this, considering that Ai conceived them through Teen Pregnancy and out of wedlock. Even after Naruto masquerades as their birth father and marries Ai, they're still technically this trope as their true birth father is still out there.
    • Subverted with Sapphire. While she too was conceived out of wedlock, both Naruto and Ai eventually married not soon after.
  • Kung-Fu Kid: All of them were trained by their father in martial arts and are capable fighters in their own right.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: None of them were aware that Sapphire's birth nearly caused Ai to died due to Naruto and Ai keeping that part a secret as to not cause mental distress on Sapphire.
  • Original Character: Sapphire and Minato are entirely original characters in the fic.
  • Rags to Royalty: Aqua and Ruby went from being the illegitimate children of a downplayed Struggling Single Mother to the first and second heirs respectively of the new Uzumaki Clan.
  • Rock Theme Naming: Aquamarine, Ruby, and Sapphire are gemstone names. While Minato is the Odd Name Out, it still fits within this theme given his grandfather's moniker, "Konoha's Yellow Flash", could mean any yellow gemstone.
  • Spoiled Sweet: Justified as their parents raise them with plenty of love and good integrity (also helped that Aqua and Ruby are reincarnated souls). On their part, they know that their father would be more willing to shower them with whatever their heart's desire (as long as it's within reason of course, and doesn't involve other people being hurt unless they truly deserve it), but refuses to do so as it would make them no better than Spoiled Brats.
  • Strong Family Resemblance:
    • Invoked with the twins' case as their blond hair, and Aqua's blue eyes, can be attributed to their alleged birth father, Naruto.
    • Sapphire bears a spitting image of her mother Ai. So much so that Aqua that notes if it wasn't for her slightly tan skin and whisker marks on her cheeks, she would look totally like her mother Ai.
    • Minato has been described to be a carbon copy of his father Naruto, but he has purple-pink eyes with stars in each of his eyes from his mother Ai.
  • Stronger Sibling: A non-villainous example with Sapphire and Minato, as both of them are literally superhumans compared to their older siblings due to their father's genes.
  • The Wise Prince: Kana outright compared them to royalty in Japan's entertainment industry thanks to Naruto and Ai's names being so renowned, and all four of the children are proven wiser, or more aware, and more talented than their ages would suggest in their own way. Aqua and Ruby have the justification of actually being reincarnated people who kept the memories of their past lives, but Sapphire and Minato just seem to be naturally disciplined and intelligent for their age.
  • Training from Hell: As any of them can attest, Naruto's martial tutelage involves plenty of sweat, hard work, and determination. Ruby even implies that the "regular" level is intense.

    Aquamarine "Aqua" Uzumaki (Goro Amamiya)

Aquamarine "Aqua" Hoshino/Aquamarine "Aqua" Uzumaki (Goro Amamiya)

Naruto and Ai's oldest child (adoptive son in Naruto's case), older twin brother of Ruby, and the oldest child in the Uzumaki Family.

  • Actually, I Am Him: Chapter 24 reveals that none of the cast of My Love with a Star Begins Now, sans Akane, believes that Aqua was related to Naruto and Ai Uzumaki when he first introduces himself, mainly due to their Living Legend status and how private their lives were. Once the published article of the reality show confirms this, it didn't take long for everyone to get all "buddy-buddy" with him, much to his annoyance.
  • Affectionate Nickname:
    • Like canon, "Aqua" is the shortened variation of his given name, and has been called by this nickname since birth; with this nickname also being used as his Stage Name. Since Aqua entered showbiz when he was a toddler child actor, all of his acquaintances simply calls him by this name, to the point that it's easy for the audience who are consuming this very work to forget that his full given name is Aquamarine.
    • Several characters shorten his name further with an honorific attached to it. Mem-Cho calls him "Aqu-tan", while Kana uses "Ah-kun".
  • Anti-Hero: He's not as ruthless or manipulative as his canon counterpart, but he's still intending to bring Ai's attempted killer, aka his birth father, to justice through any means necessary.
  • Betty and Veronica: He's the aloof and mysterious "Veronica" to his younger brother's nice and polite "Betty" for Kana's "Archie". Unlike most examples, Aqua isn't aware of this.
  • Big Brother Instinct: One of the reasons why he's on his revenge mission to find his biological father.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Like canon, Aqua saves Akane from her suicide attempt.
  • Calling Parents by Their Name:
    • A notable difference between Aqua and Ruby is that Aqua calls Ai by her name in his monologue, mainly because he's already an adult mentally, and probably does not view her as his mother and still more like the idol he loves. This is later averted after the timeskip as plenty of time has passed to the point for Aqua to be comfortable with Ai as his current mother.
    • Averted with Naruto as he started to see him as a father after much bonding before Naruto's marriage with Ai.
  • Clark Kent Outfit: Despite his lean physique, Aqua is quite muscular from his years of martial arts training. It's usually hidden in his clothing.
  • Happily Adopted: He and Ruby were happily adopted by Naruto to the Uzumaki Family as their adoptive father after the latter married their mother Ai.
  • Lethal Chef: He sucks at cooking on his own and attempting to rectify that on the internet and later in the school's cooking club, with the famous Angry Chef himself teaching for the week. This later averted by chapter 26, as he's able to make a decent ramen meal to Akane's enjoyment.
  • Like Father, Like Son:
    • Despite their non-blood relationship, Aqua does take after his stepfather Naruto with their similar parental absent upbringings, developing feelings for a shy girl with a hidden talent, bringing out the best of their abilities, and rescuing them from death that cements their romantic feelings for them. Their dynamic with their Love Interest is also very similar, as described by MEM-Cho in chapter 30.
    • At the same time, this also applies to his biological father, Hikaru, given how Ai first started as a Country Mouse with little tact and interest in interacting with others until she gained much more wisdom through her relationship with him. In turn, Akane starts to undergo her own Character Development through her friendship and later romance with Aqua. Furthermore, he also shares similar manipulative tendencies with Hikaru and is capable of killing people himself.
  • Like Father, Unlike Son:
    • Unlike Naruto's Hot-Blooded personality, lack of academic intellect, and need for close companions, Aqua's behavior completely contrasts him by being more stoic, academically intelligence, and tendency to be The Aloner. Ironically making him reminiscent of Sasuke, something that Naruto took note of.
    • Aqua also contrasts his birthfather by truly cherishing the girl (Akane) he loves and only uses his manipulative tendencies for the right reasons (i.e. saving Akane's reputation and exposing the corruption of the My Love producers). Also, while he's not above murder, it'll be an extremely last resort and only for situations that call for it.
  • Likes Older Women: Due to having the soul of a full-grown adult, Aqua naturally prefers to be in relationships with women who share his level of values and communication, and fortunately, Akane is a year older than him.
  • Living Emotional Crutch: He serves as one to both Kana and Akane, encouraging them to come out of their shells and directly intervening should things start taking a bad turn. After developing a romantic relationship with Akane, the latter emotionally depends on him being the light in her life that would allow her to accomplish anything while Kana is very heartbroken after realizing that Aqua is now dating Akane, and is more than livid about knowing that, and still intends to win Aqua's heart one way or another.
  • Not So Above It All: Even though he tends to be distant and quiet, he does have a playful side that can be displayed at times.
  • Official Couple: With Akane in chapter 29.
  • Only Known By His Nickname: Downplayed and justified. "Aqua" is his Affectionate Nickname since birth due to the uncomfortable length and usage of his given name, "Aquamarine" around Japanese society. And since Aqua prefers his nickname over his full given name, he simply uses this nickname as his Stage Name; combined with his family's life being private, not a lot within the entertainment business knew his true relations.
  • Right for the Wrong Reasons: His initial assumption of Naruto being a Human Alien or an alien who can shapeshift in chapter 15 isn't entirely wrong in a technical sense. Even though Naruto is a human, he still came from an alternate version of Earth with a biology that's quite different due to having and manipulating Chakra, and that's also not getting into his family's ancestry to Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki, who is possibly a half-blooded Ōtsutsuki.
  • Sacred First Kiss: He gives one to Akane in chapter 29, which seals their relationship as a romantic couple.
  • Secret Test of Character: Subverted, Invoked, and Played for Laughs. When it's revealed that the cast of My Love with a Star Begins Now, sans Akane, didn't actually "believe" that Aqua was Naruto and Ai's son until the published article of the reality show confirming it, Aqua took offense to that and quickly took a page of his father's book by inviting Akane only to dinner at his house.
  • Shed the Family Name: After Naruto and Ai's marriage, his previous surname, Hoshino, is changed to Uzumaki.
  • When He Smiles: While he isn't the Perpetual Frowner like his canon counterpart due to Ai surviving her fated event, Aqua's real smile is still rather charming when he does actually smile, as many characters can attest.
  • Wise Beyond Their Years: Justified as he was originally a doctor in his past life, and his previous life's memories are carried over to his new life.
  • You Called Me "X"; It Must Be Serious: Downplayed. When Aqua gives an understandable What the Hell, Hero? speech to Mem-Cho upon the latter's sudden confession of her true age, he immediately stops there upon hearing Ai calling out his name in a calm but stern tone.

    Ruby Uzumaki (Sarina Tendouji)

Ruby Hoshino/Ruby Uzumaki (Sarina Tendouji)

Naruto and Ai's 2nd oldest child (adoptive daughter in Naruto's case), Aqua's younger twin sister, and the second child in the Uzumaki Family.

  • Big Sister Instinct: Ruby dotes on her younger siblings Sapphire and Minato very much, and she gets very protective of Minato when Kana learns that Minato is Naruto and Ai's son.
  • Flat Joy: Ruby doesn't look back on her martial arts training fondly as she couldn't keep up with the regular training, especially when it's Naruto being The Mentor. That and possible Muscle Angst.
  • Happily Adopted: She and Aqua were happily adopted by Naruto to the Uzumaki Family as their legal father after the latter married their mother Ai.
  • Irony: Ruby is Cool Big Sis towards her two younger siblings and unbeknownst to her (for the time being), she also had two younger siblings in her previous life as "Sarina Tendouji".
  • Muscle Angst: Maybe, as having noticeable muscles might hurt her chances of being seen as a cute idol.
  • My Sister Is Off-Limits: Gender-inverted. Ruby does not like her little brother being ogled by their female peers, even if they're people she looks up to, such as Frill Shiranui and Minami Kotobuki. She also doesn't approve of Kana's being a possible girlfriend to Minato as well.
  • Shed the Family Name: After Naruto and Ai's marriage, her previous surname, Hoshino, is changed to Uzumaki.

    Sapphire Uzumaki

Sapphire Uzumaki

Naruto and Ai's 3rd child and youngest daughter in Uzumaki Family, as well as their first child that the couple had.

  • Action Girl: The most physically active girl in the Uzumaki Family and intends to run her father's dojo as she grows up. Any of the chapters focusing on her will involve some physical fighting on her part.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Naruto affectionally calls Sapphire "Hime", which in English means "Princess", while the rest of the family such as Ai and Ruby call her "Sap-chan".
  • Amazonian Beauty: She looks like a tanner version of her mother and possesses a lean muscular and toned build.
  • Big Damn Heroes: She saved a random woman from being harassed by the gangsters in chapter 30, and managed to beat up the gang effortlessly.
  • But Not Too Foreign: Half-Japanese and part Uzumaki (and among other things).
  • Child of Two Worlds: Three worlds if we're including the Ōtsutsuki Clan, as her father is a descendant of Hagoromo's lineage.
  • Child Prodigy: Thanks to her Super-Strength and being a quick learner in martial arts, Sapphire can beat up a teenage peer with ease at the age of 10.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Delivers this to the gangsters effortlessly when Sapphire saves a woman from being harassed at the alleyway.
  • Does Not Know His Own Strength: Justified as an infant and she nearly crushes her older siblings' fingers. This becomes downplayed as she grows older and learns to control her Super-Strength, but can still have restraint problems if she's not careful.
  • Facial Markings: She inherited two of Naruto's fox whiskers on her cheeks.
  • Freak Out: She has this moment as she became extremely terrified when unknowingly broke the seal of her Chakra and manifested Adamantine Sealing Chains in Chapter 13.
  • Heir to the Dojo: Well, heir to the Cool Sword as Sapphire is already being groomed to run the Uzumaki Dojo. Since neither Aqua, Ruby, or Minato has any intentions to inherit the Uzumaki Dojo, Naruto has no choice but to allow Sapphire the inheritance of the Uzumaki Sword.
  • Inferiority Superiority Complex: Sapphire has this complex due to not being as smart as Aqua and Minato, nor feeling being pretty as Ruby. And everyone in the school calls her a freak because of her unnatural strength, as a result of that, she feels inadequate compared to her siblings.
  • No Guy Wants an Amazon: Despite being an attractive girl, Sapphire's Super-Strength turns off any potential suitors.
  • Shared Family Quirks: Her temper is very similar to her paternal grandmother, Kushina, when she's angry. Also, like both her paternal grandmother and father, she loves to eat ramen.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: She's a spitting image of Ai but with two whisker marks on each side of her face, has tanner skin, and a muscular physique.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Like her father and her paternal grandmother Kushina, Sapphire's favorite food is ramen, and she loves it.
  • Uneven Hybrid: Although she's fully human, she's also part Celestial being as Naruto's family lineage mostly descends from the Ōtsutsuki Clan.

    Minato Uzumaki

Minato Uzumaki

Naruto and Ai's youngest child and son in the Uzumaki Family.

  • Ancestral Name: Minato is named after his paternal grandfather, Minato Namikaze, and he feels very proud of it.
  • Betty and Veronica: He's the nice and polite "Betty" to his older brother's aloof and mysterious "Veronica" for Kana's "Archie". Unlike most examples, Aqua isn't aware of this.
  • Beware the Quiet Ones: Minato is the more calm and quietest out of his siblings. But if you so much as mess with any of his family members, you can kiss your social and private life goodbye.
  • But Not Too Foreign: Half-Japanese and part Uzumaki (and among other things).
  • Chick Magnet: Despite a significant 3-5 age gap, the girls attending Yoko High School are rather smitten with Minato and/or interested in him due to his more developed appearance and natural charm.
  • Child of Two Worlds: Three worlds if we're including the Ōtsutsuki Clan, as his father is a descendant of Hagoromo's lineage.
  • Child Prodigy: Minato displays very high intelligence and maturity even at his young age, to the point he managed to skip a few grades and go to the same high school and be in the same grade as Aqua and Ruby.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: Downplayed. He's rather a bit peeved that Kana is slightly infatuated with his older brother.
  • Extreme Doormat: Downplayed. While Minato is a skilled martial artist and would likely throw down if his family is threatened or use his intelligence and hacker skills to ruin the perpetrators socially, he's too polite to turn down those who catch their attention.
  • Facial Markings: Like Sapphire, he also inherited two of Naruto's fox whiskers on his cheeks.
  • Has a Type: Like his paternal grandfather, he's smitten by a plucky girl with beautiful red hair.
  • Incorruptible Pure Pureness: Minato is the prime example of this. Born and raised as a very gentle, formal, and kind person, his kindness eventually draws attention to many girls in high school and even Kana despite the 3-5 year age gap. Ruby even describes her youngest sibling to be, bless his heart, too nice for his own good.
  • Likes Older Women: He's smitten with Kana, who is 5 years his senior.
  • Mistaken Age: Justified. People outside the Uzumaki Family and/or meeting Minato for the first time tend to mistake him for a teenager in his mid-teens due to his tall height, muscular physique, more mature personality, and higher intelligence. However, he's the youngest child out of his three older siblings at the age of 11.
  • Mistaken for Dyed: Chapter 30 reveals that in addition to his intelligence, he was also discriminated by his peers for his "unnatural" blond hair, which they believed to have been dyed.
  • Odd Name Out: Downplayed. He's the only child who isn't named after a color or gemstone like his older siblings, but the name theming still fits as it means "Harbor" and his paternal grandfather's moniker is "Konoha's Yellow Flash".
  • Playful Hacker: Thanks to his high intellect, Minato is capable hacker who uses his skills to protect his family members from Malicious Slanderers and internet Trolls.
  • Shared Family Quirks: He's polite to a fault, highly intelligent for his age, and is smitten with a girl with red hair, similar to his grandfather.
  • Uneven Hybrid: He's fully human, but he's also part Celestial being as Naruto's family lineage mostly descends from the Ōtsutsuki Clan.
  • Younger Than They Look: Because of his father's strict training regiment and his Uzumaki genes, Minato looks to be a little older than his oldest siblings despite actually being 11, not helping that he's far more intelligent and mature in personality. To say the least, it gets him quite an amount of attention from his female peers, many of them having a good 3-5 year age gap, much to Ruby's discomfort and annoyance and later Mem-Cho's horror.

Strawberry Productions

    Ichigo Saitou

Ichigo Saitou

The president of Strawberry Productions, a man who took Ai under his wing and treated her as his own daughter.

  • Cool Shades: Like canon, he's always seen wearing sunglasses.
  • Happily Married: Double Subverted. His marriage with Miyako was initially out of convenience, and money on her part until they become much closer during the 12-year timeskip.
  • Outliving One's Offspring: He sired a daughter with Miyako during the 12-year timeskip, but the newborn baby was a stillborn.
  • Parental Substitute: He acts as both Ai's manager and legal guardian.

    Miyako Saitou

Miyako Saitou

Ichigo Saitou's wife and later Ai's surrogate mother. After Ai resumes her work, Miyako acts as her manager and babysitter for her children. She also poses as Aqua and Ruby's mother until The Reveal In-Universe. She eventually becomes the manager of Strawberry Productions.

  • Absurdly Youthful Mother: Grandmother in her case. While Miyako's age is vague, she's implied to be in her mid to late 30s.
  • Demoted to Extra: As a result of Ai's survival in the fic, Miyako's role is a bit smaller than her canon counterpart.
  • Good Counterpart: To Ai's birthmother, which is lampshaded by Ai herself in chapter 21. Ironically, Miyako's initial characterization in canon wasn't all that different from how Ai's birthmother was described to be, if less extreme, and Miyako would've continued down a similar path if it weren't for baby Aqua and Ruby's God Guise.
  • Happily Married: Double Subverted. Her marriage with Ichigo was initially out of convenience, and money on her part, until they become much closer during the 12-year timeskip.
  • Irony: She was initially a vain woman who only married for money and was completely disinterested in taking care of children. After her Heel–Face Turn, she grew closer to Ichigo during the 12-year timeskip and was looking forward to becoming a mother herself but tragically Outliving One's Offspring.
  • My Greatest Failure: As revealed in chapters 20 and 21, Miyako losing her stillborn daughter and being unable to save her during the 12-year timeskip scarred her deeply. Since then, she's afraid of trying again and is filled with self-deprecation about whether she would be a good mother or not.
  • Old Shame: In-Universe. She looks back at the time of her Pre-Character Development self being willing to sell out Ai's secret pregnancy with shame and an ongoing Dark Secret.
  • Outliving One's Offspring: She gave birth to a daughter with her husband during the 12-year timeskip, but the newborn baby was a stillborn.
  • Parental Substitute:
    • Miyako initially acts as the twins' mother while outside, so Ai won't be revealed to have gotten pregnant.
    • She's also one for Ai to the point that the latter sees her as a mother instead of her own abusive birthmother.

New B-Komachi

    Kana Arima

Kana Arima

A haughty Child Prodigy with a sharp tongue in acting whom Aqua and Ruby first met as children. Now a Former Child Star, coupled with a more mellow and kinder attitude, she meets them again, along with their younger brother when the three of them apply to Yoto High, a high school with a performing arts program specifically for young entertainers.

  • A-Cup Angst: She's rather insecure with her more petite figure compared to Sapphire and Ai's gifted curves.
  • Age Lift: Inverted and Downplayed. She's the same age as Aqua and Ruby and is currently a first-year in high school compared to her canon counterpart.
  • Ascended Fanboy: She looks up to Ai for her legendary status and talent as a former idol and actor, and is now currently being coached by her into becoming an idol for the new B-Komachi.
  • Brutal Honesty: She doesn't seem to have a filter when she talks to someone she doesn't particularly like (Ruby).
  • Bullying a Dragon: Downplayed and Played for Laughs. Whenever Ruby would push her Berserk Buttons, Kana would follow it up with an empty threat of either bullying her or inflicting a physical altercation, which comes off as more comedic than intended as Ruby is a trained marital artist who could easily hand Kana her own ass in an actual fight.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: For Aqua, especially when his growing closeness to and eventual relationship with Akane. It also doesn't help that she and Akane have a strong rivalry with each other beforehand.
  • Death Glare:
    • Played for Laughs whenever Ruby was to annoy her in a way, given that Kana is far from being intimidating to her.
    • Does this mutually with Akane during the Uzumaki dinner in chapter 30. When Akane taunts her by kissing Aqua right in front of her, especially after figuring out that Kana also has feelings for him, Kana's glare becomes much more severe to the point that it looks like she is ready to commit murder.
  • Fiery Redhead: Downplayed; Kana has crimson red hair and on the whole is quiet and reserved (if not occasionally plucky and deadpan), but pushing the right buttons will make her lunge at you with almost killing intentions.
  • Forgotten First Meeting:
    • Technically, she met Ai during her days as a child actor but didn't know who she really was at the time.
    • Downplayed with Akane. She and Akane knew each other as child actors, but Kana was unable to recognize her in the present besides getting a mild feeling of annoyance in familiarity. It's only till she gets heartbroken when seeing Akane in a relationship with Aqua and then meeting her face-to-face in the Uzumaki Household that she quickly remembered her and the bitterness with it.
  • Green-Eyed Monster:
    • Downplayed and Played for Laughs. When she meets Sapphire for the first time, Kana gets noticeably jealous of the 12-year-old girl's more developed curves while she still looks like a girl who can pass for younger.
    • Played incredibly straight with Akane, however. In the past, she saw Akane as nothing more than a wannabe child actor who was trying to outshine her, which is incredibly inaccurate due to her arrogance and teachings from her Stage Mom. As of the current time, this rivalry has intensified due to Akane getting more popularity after her appearance in My Love and being in a relationship with Aqua, whom Kana also had feelings for.
  • Hate at First Sight: Double Subverted. When seeing Akane for the first time on My Love, Kana has an immediate, annoying disliking of her and feels that she knew her from somewhere before but is otherwise neutral towards her. It's later revealed that they met as child actors and developed a bitter rivalry since then, and upon remembering her clearly in chapter 30, Kana's bitterness of Akane intensifies greatly.
  • Hero-Worshipper: Kana idolizes and respects Ai as both a Living Legend in Japan's idol and acting industry and as someone brave by being willing to throw away the fame she accumulated at the peak of her career for love and family. Even meeting her in person for the second time in chapter 20 starts with Kana stammering before giving a deep bow. Considering Kana's broken relationship with her own Vicariously Ambitious, and later abusive Stage Mom, her worship of Ai would also be justified.
  • Hopeless Suitor: Despite her affection for Aqua, he only sees her as a good friend. As seen in the story's relationship tag provided by Word of God, Akane is the one who would win Aqua's heart and go into a relationship with him as seen in chapter 27. While Kana ends up with Minato instead.
  • Idol Singer: She's convinced to join Ruby's idol group after Aqua and Ruby are enrolled in Yoto High.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Like her canon counterpart, Kana tends to just say directly what comes to her mind when she's agitated or is surprised. Thus people who get to know her for a longer time are put off by her foul mouth.
    • She ends up getting on Ruby's bad side when pointing out Minato's existence in a loud manner as she genuinely has no idea that Naruto and Ai had more children.
    • She praises Ruby and her siblings for how noble they are for not using their family names, either Uzumaki or Hoshino, to get ahead of the competition, but worded it in a blunt way to which Ruby corrected her that their surname is Uzumaki.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: With Aqua and Ruby, it's averted as Kana is aware of their true relation to Ai thanks to the latter being Spared by the Adaptation and revealing them before the timeskip. However, she's justifiably unaware of them being non-blood related to Naruto and doesn't know that Naruto and Ai had two more children till meeting Minato for the first time. Furthermore, like canon, she still has no idea why Aqua actually is acting in the entertainment industry.
  • Older Than They Look: She's the same age as Aqua and Ruby, but her short height and "child-like face" make her look younger than that.
  • Right for the Wrong Reasons: Unbeknownst to Kana, her remark to Ruby about the Uzumaki Family being "practically royalty" is Not Hyperbole given their "circumstances".
  • Single Tear: She becomes very heartbroken when the reality hits her of Aqua falling in love with Akane instead in chapter 29, to the point that she sheds a tear.
  • Tempting Fate:
    • When collaborating with Pieyon to gather more followers, Kana thought to herself that it couldn't be that bad. Cue the hour-long Pieyon dance, and she's mentally screaming about how wrong she was.
    • She gains a Hope Spot while hanging with Aqua as they skip school and bond with each other, by rationalizing the idea of the possibility that she could still win his heart due to the "work relationship" he has with Akane. Even planning to ask him out right after the reality show ends. Only to get an emotional gut punch upon witnessing the last episode aired with Aqua and Akane sharing their Sacred First Kiss.
  • Took a Level in Badass: In chapter 31, it's revealed that she's been undergoing physical training to increase her strength and stamina for her eventual idol role. Also, a stray kick from a sleeping Kana is enough to affect Ruby.

    Mem-Cho

Mem-Cho

A self-proclaimed high school senior Social Media Influencer who predominately uses YouTube as her main source of income. Mem-Cho is selected to participate in the reality dating show, My Love with a Star Begin Now with the intent of using the buzz to farm subscribers to her social platforms.

Taking note of Mem-Cho's unfulfilled dream of idol singing, Aqua invites her to sign up with Strawberry Productions and join Ruby's new B-Komachi.

  • Already Met Everyone: Downplayed, but Ai is implied to know who she is before her debut chapter. Confirmed in chapter 30, where Ai tells Mem-Cho that she recognizes her as the "little girl with devil horns who look like a cat screaming and jumping during a concert".
  • Ascended Fanboy: She was a big fan of Ai when the latter first debuted on TV, and is currently doing well herself as a Youtuber and actress. At the end of chapter 29, she gets the opportunity to become an idol, which was originally a Tragic Dream, and get mentored by Ai in turn.
  • Birds of a Feather:
    • Like in canon, she gets along very well with the very energetic and excited Ruby.
    • She also gets along extremely well with Ai due to their similar backgrounds and devotion to those close to them.
  • Cool Big Sis: Mem-Cho is the oldest cast member in the show (excluding Aqua). She looks after her younger coworkers, treats them to food, and gives Akane tips on how to deal with internet criticism. Her worrying about Akane and looking for her is what contributes to Aqua saving Akane's life from a suicide attempt just in time. She also actually is one in the literal sense, dropping out of school to take on part-time jobs to provide for her mother and younger siblings.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Like in canon, Chapter 30 reveals that Mem-Cho had a Tragic Dream to become an Idol Singer, but had to give up said dream despite successfully auditioning because her single mother collapsed from overwork and was hospitalized. Mem-Cho dropped out of the audition and high school to earn money with part-time jobs. She had to earn money to provide for her mother and two younger brothers. When things stabilized, she was already 23, which is a bit too late to become an idol.
  • Dye Hard: In-Universe as Mem-Cho, she's known to dye her hair blonde.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Played for Laughs. She initially flirted with Minato when meeting him for the first time, as she found him handsome. Only to be immediately worried when learning that he's Aqua's younger brother and reacting with horror that he's only 11 years old.
  • Karmic Jackpot: Moreso than canon. By supporting her family in their time of need and sacrificing her own dream in the process, as well as being a supportive figure for her younger coworkers, which results in Akane's survival, Mem-Cho gets the golden opportunity to fulfill her dream through Aqua's invitation to join the new B-Komachi and gets mentored by Ai in turn, along with a You Are Better Than You Think You Are speech from the one person she looked up to.
  • Mistaken for Pedophile: Discussed. She worries about the idea of how her friends would react if they learn her true age when she initially flirted with Minato, only to learn seconds later that he's 11.
  • My God, You Are Serious!: When Aqua makes the offer of her joining Strawberry Productions to become an idol, Mem-Cho started to lightly laugh it off as a joke until seeing him still having the same expression seconds later.
  • Older Than They Look: She's supposedly a third-year high schooler, putting her at 18 years of age. However, chapter 30 reveals that she's 25-years-old.
  • Only Known By Her Nickname: She's only called and referred to as Mem-Cho, with her real name unknown.
  • Playful Cat Smile: Like canon, she almost always has a cat-like smile on her face to indicate her playful side. Ai even commented on her smile when reminiscing about her at a previous concert.
  • Signature Headgear: Mem-Cho often wears devil's horns as a part of her media persona. She even wore them as a child, which Ai commented on when reminiscing about her at a previous concert.
  • Tears of Joy: When she gets comforted by Ai and hears her encouraging speech, she nearly cried as Ai's words mean so much to her.
  • Tragic Dream: Like canon, Mem-Cho originally wanted to become an idol, but is unable to do so because of her financial situation. Until it becomes subverted at the end of chapter 29.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: She gets this from Ai in chapter 30, as the latter both comforts and commends her for her initial sacrifice, efforts, and devotion, which to her (who went through similar pains), already makes her an idol in her eyes.
  • Vague Age: She's a third-year student, which would suggest her age is 18 years old. However, that's not her true age given how she was flirting with Minato and then reacting with horror that he's only 11 years old and worried about the "implications" if the others learned of her actual age. Chapter 30 reveals that she's actually 25-years-old.

Reality Show—"My Love with a Star Begins Now" Cast

    Akane Kurokawa

Akane Kurokawa

A high school second-year actress, and a rising ace actress in theatrical plays affiliated with the Lala Lai Theatrical Company. Shy, awkward, and uncertain about how showbiz works outside of the theater in real-life, Akane struggles to leave a good impression on the crew on the reality show.

  • All of the Other Reindeer: Like canon, she accidentally injures Yuki during a scene they are acting out, which the producers deliberately leave in to end an episode dramatically. The consequence is Akane becoming the target of heavy bullying, both on social media and in school, where people isolate her, start harassing her with toxic and vitriolic comments, and badmouth her however they can. The harassment eventually becomes too much for her and she attempts to kill herself.
  • Amateur Sleuth: Akane is exceptional in gathering information and formulating sound hypotheses based on her findings.
  • Awesomeness by Analysis: She possesses a talent in acting that surpasses Aqua, and can figure things out through deduction and psychoanalysis.
    • Compare to everyone else in the reality show who thought of Aqua as a "poser", only she was able to figure out that Aqua is the son of Naruto and Ai Uzumaki before the published article of the show, though, in their defense, they weren't fully sure due to how private Naruto and Ai's lives were.
    • Similar to canon, after realizing Aqua likes girls like his mother Ai, she decides to analyze Ai, her personal timeline and career, and the Uzumaki Family so she can better play the role of a love interest to Aqua. By studying things like Ai's stride, her expression, her smile, and/or her relationships she correctly deduces details of Ai's private life (like her abandonment issues, her bad childhood, or her early sexual experience). When Akane returns to the reality show, now with her own charisma and aura mixed with Ai's persona which outshines the latter, she can make the normally unflappable Aqua at a loss for words and can barely function without being submissive.
    • She quickly figures out that Kana holds a flame for Aqua upon their unpleasant reunion.
  • Break the Cutie: She gets horribly cyberbullied after the incident with Yuki and the traumatic emotional turmoil she was forced to go through because of it results in her attempting to commit suicide.
  • Character Tics: She has a tendency to tap her index fingers together whenever she feels embarrassment.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl:
    • Downplayed. By chapter 27, Akane really didn't like it when Mem-Cho pulled Aqua's arm into her breast. Even mentally declaring that "[Aqua's] MINE!", much to her bewilderment seconds later.
    • After being in a relationship with Aqua, it's played straight as she gets incredibly peeved when figuring out that Kana also has feelings for him, not helping that she already has a problem with Kana for other personal reasons.
  • Covert Pervert: Chapter 33 reveals that she became quite "interested" in the Icha Icha book series after reading them.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Akane's eyes are a dark shade of blue, which is a close match to her hair.
  • Disappeared Dad: Her father isn't present in her life, with only her mother instead.
  • Extreme Doormat: Akane is a shy and quiet person, who doesn't stand out in the show, where it's required to Be Yourself. Her attempts to be more in the spotlight, therefore, fall flat, and seeing how her manager is criticized because she doesn't garner much attention leads to her taking extreme measures that escalate things. She causes an accident that is dramatized in the show, which is met with heavy toxic criticism. Mem-Cho advises her to not apologize, which Akane is prone to do so, as this would be like an admission of guilt, but Akane does the next worst thing and responds to the bullying without being able to go into detail, which only makes viewers angrier.
  • Fame Through Infamy: By accident, not unlike canon. Akane seeks to bring more attention to herself by competing against Yuki, but she accidentally injures Yuki's face, which results in very harsh criticism from social media. She's got the attention she wanted, but it's only negative PR and does the opposite of what she wanted to accomplish. Luckily, thanks to Aqua's plan and Minato's hacking skills, her good reputation is restored.
  • Hidden Depths: Chapter 33 reveals that she may be a closet fan of the Icha Icha novels much to Aqua's chagrin.
  • Hyper-Awareness: Akane is very good at reading people and picks up more subtle things about a person, which helps with her work to play a role. She thus is aware that Aqua is truly related to Naruto and Ai upon first meeting, is able to perfectly mimic Ai's persona through extensive research, and that Yuki and Nobu are actually dating despite what they show in the dating show.
  • Innocent Blue Eyes: While Akane plays this trope much straighter than Aqua, it's made very clear that she is nowhere near as innocent as she seems; the fact that she's much more aware of her surroundings being the first clue.
  • Innocent Fanservice Girl: She unintentionally showcases her mature curves by wearing Sapphire's small shirt and shorts to Aqua after her hot bath, much to Aqua's internal horror.
  • Jerkass to One: Kana is the only person whom Akane genuinely has beef with due to Poor Communication Kills in the past and isn't subtle of her hostility towards her.
  • Karmic Jackpot: Played for Laughs. Since she was the only one who figure out that Aqua really is Naruto and Ai's son prior to the public article of the reality show confirming his true relations, he personally invited her to his home for dinner and meets them while excluding everyone else.
  • Last Girl Wins: Out of the girls who Aqua meets, interacts with, and befriends in chronological order, Akane is the one who wins his heart.
  • Like Parent, Like Spouse: This is lampshaded by Ai and many other characters in the know of their relationship. One of the things that makes Akane attractive to Aqua is that she's very similar to Ai in many ways, whether it be their acting talent or similar personalities.
  • Love Interest: To Aqua.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Once she calms down after being rescued by Aqua from her attempted suicide and him revealing his caring side, Akane was quickly filled with regret of what she almost did and moreso after getting witnessing how much her mother cries when being told about it.
  • Not So Above It All: Despite her Extreme Doormat tendencies, Kana is the one person that can make Akane act the opposite and has virtrol feelings towards, to the point that she's not afraid of getting into a confrontation with her and is also not above taunts by showing affection to Aqua (who she quickly figure out that Kana also had feelings for) right in front of her in chapter 30.
  • Official Couple: With Aqua in chapter 29.
  • Rescue Romance: While she was already starting to gain some affection for Aqua, his rescue of her from committing suicide and comforting her at her lowest point in chapters 25 and 26 are what seals her feelings for him.
  • Right for the Wrong Reasons: What prevents Akane from accepting the possibility that Aqua and Ruby aren't biologically related to Naruto is seeing how strong the familial love and bond they have with their parents and siblings is. While she's not wrong about the Uzumaki Family's familial bond, she also doesn't realize that their bonds would also transcend the idea of Thicker Than Water.
  • Sacred First Kiss: She gets one from Aqua in chapter 29, which seals their relationship as a romantic couple.
  • Selective Obliviousness: Justified. Akane came real close to figuring out that Aqua and Ruby aren't biologically related to Naruto, but she easily rationalized away that "theory" based on her first-handed account of meeting Ai for the first time, seeing both her and Naruto being Sickening Sweethearts, and witnessing the strong familial love and bond that the Uzumaki Family possess for one another.
  • Shrinking Violet: She's rather shy and awkward, not unlike Hinata Hyuga, which is not a good trait to have in the more cutthroat world of showbiz.
  • Shy Blue-Haired Girl: An almost textbook example, despite her hair color being much darker than the standard. That being said, she is growing out of her shell.
  • Sincerest Form of Flattery: In-Universe. As Akane realizes her romantic feelings for Aqua, especially after being saved by him, she begins to get his attention by becoming his "ideal girl"; incorporating Ai's personality and understanding more of the bond shared between the Uzumaki Family. As she showcases her results, everyone is floored with her acting and Aqua can't help but be immensely smitten by her and later tied the knot. Even Ai herself is impressed by Akane's ability and isn't shy to admit that she looks more beautiful than her, much to Akane's embarrassment.
  • Smooch of Victory: She gives this to Aqua in appreciation after saving her from her suicide attempt. Much to her embarrassment later on once her mind was sounded. Then gives him another one in chapter 27 for the things he had done for her in time of need.
  • Smug Smiler: She subtly smirks at Kana after kissing Aqua right in front of her in chapter 30, taunting her that no matter what, Aqua is hers.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Moreso than Ai. An attractive, Shy Blue-Haired Girl with an apologetic personality clash in a world filled with lies and cutting corners. She meets and bonds with a boy with blond hair and blue eyes and later falls in love with him after being saved by him in her time of need, becoming more confident thanks to his influence, shyly twiddling her index fingers regarding her affection for him, both of them being Twice Shy as their feelings grew stronger and sharing a Sacred First Kiss with him under the moonlight and in a "last episode". By this point, is Ai really the Alternate Self of Hinata Hyuga or is it Akane or are they both?
  • True Blue Femininity: Akane's signature color is a deep shade of blue, and she is very much one of the most feminine characters in the series.
  • When She Smiles: She gives one to Aqua for his encouragement in chapter 23, especially when she channels a bit of Ai's personality.

Others

    Sasuke Uchiha

Sasuke Uchiha

Naruto's former friend and rival of complicated history.

  • Beyond Redemption: Naruto considers Sasuke to be beyond redemption after he refuses to change his ways and trapping him in another world, resulting in their world becoming a desolate wasteland with humanity virtually extinct.
  • Disowned Sibling: He's no longer considered a brother by Naruto after his final betrayal.
  • Dying Curse: After taking a decisive and fatal wound from Naruto, Sasuke performs one last move by banishing him to another world.
  • It's All About Me: Played for Drama. When it comes down to it, Sasuke's motivations have always been self-centered, whether it be avenging his deceased loved ones or accomplishing world peace in his own vision. This extreme selflessness not only shattered every bond he once had with Naruto and their friends but also led to the extinction of every single living being in their world.
  • Posthumous Character: He's long dead by the start of the first chapter as it takes place three years after Naruto is trapped in the Oshi no Ko world.
  • Redemption Rejection: Unlike his canon self, Sasuke refuses to perform a Heel–Face Turn and banishes Naruto to the Oshi no Ko world as a form of Dying Curse.
  • Rival Turned Evil: He started as a rival with some amicably after fighting alongside Naruto for a while. But his deep-seated issues regarding his revenge for Itachi, his pride of being the "better" Ninja between him and Naruto, and corruption from Orochimaru's Curse mark causes him to commit a Face–Heel Turn that ultimately led to every living being in the Naruto world to be extinct.
  • Sore Loser: Sasuke did not take his loss against Naruto well at all, especially with his dying from it. His last act before his dying breath is by banishing Naruto to another world with his Rinnegan to deprive him of any chance of breaking the Infinite Tsukuyomi.
  • Treachery Is a Special Kind of Evil: In the end, his betrayal of his friends and Konoha and willingness to let everyone be killed off by the Infinite Tsukuyomi forces Naruto to accept the fact that whatever affectionate bond he had left for Sasuke is ultimately gone.

    Ryosuke

Ryosuke

An idol otaku who is obsessed with Ai.

  • Corruption by a Minor: Ryosuke was manipulated into becoming a murderous pawn by Hikaru.
  • Digging Yourself Deeper: As he goes on to explain his "reasons" for trying to kill Ai in his Villainous Breakdown, he ends up sealing his fate with Naruto's hand if it wasn't for Ai snapping the latter out of it at the last minute.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Played for Drama and Horror. When he learned that Ai secretly had twins, he lost all respect for the idol he cherished and tried to track her down to murder her retribution. Naruto sums this up at best after restraining him.
Ryosuke: "S-She deserves it! She's a liar! She lied to everyone! All of her fans! She lied to me! She's no idol! She's just a fake!"
Naruto: "And what exactly did she lie about?"
Ryosuke: "Don't joke with me! You know who she is, don't you!? She was supposed to be an Idol! And then she goes off and gets pregnant and has kids! She's nothing but a liar!"
  • Dramatic Irony: He tried to murder Ai out of a twisted belief in love, and he ended up being the catalyst of Ai and Naruto meeting for the first time and finding their One True Love in each other.
  • Evil Counterpart: He represents the crazy idol fans who are too obsessed with their bias, in sharp contrast to Goro. When Goro learned that his beloved idol had a lover and got pregnant, while also initially shocked, he decided to keep supporting her and make her happy. Ryosuke on the other hand grew hateful and murderous.
  • Fan Disillusionment: Finding out that Ai got pregnant makes him furious.
  • Fate Worse than Death: While he doesn't die in the fic, despite Naruto coming really close to killing him, he's forever rotting in jail and placed under a Genjutsu by Naruto to prevent him from slandering Ai.
  • Hate Sink: Much like canon, Ryosuke is a Loony Fan who treats idols as figures of obsession and kills any men who try to get close to her (barring her manager that is), killing Goro simply because he's the doctor who looked after the pregnant Ai. He also attempts to murder Ai not only because of her giving birth but under the assumption that she never bothered to remember her fans, uncaring if her children would suffer the consequences. The scariest thing about Ryosuke's behavior is that it's very similar to other real-life Loony Fans who react violently if their idol breaches invokedContractual Purity. Despite his minor role, it's very clear that Ryosuke is the very source of what went wrong in the story, even if he was manipulated.
  • Hypocrite: It says a lot that Ryosuke, a Stalker with a Crush who was planning to murder Ai mind you, and already murdered Goro in the past, and then turns the knife towards Naruto when he calls him out, calls Naruto a monster when he's slowly getting strangled by him. Unfortunately for Ryosuke, this only angered, disgusted, and convinced Naruto further to kill him right then and there if Ai hadn't snapped him out of it.
  • If I Can't Have You…: He loved Ai so much that learning of her pregnancy makes him snap. He tracks her down two times. The first time, he lures Dr. Goro out and murders him. The second time, he nearly stabbed Ai fatally in the abdomen if it weren't for Naruto calling him out.
  • It's All About Me: Ryosuke cares about no one but himself. He killed Goro because he treated the pregnant Ai and then he intended to kill Ai four years after that, uncaring if her children were left orphaned as a result. Safe to say, that Naruto is completely disgusted by this.
  • Killing Intent: He gives off this feeling enough to alert Naruto's ability to sense negative emotions, allowing the latter to intercept Ryosuke from killing Ai.
  • Mugging the Monster: He turns the knife at Naruto to silence him after the latter calls him out. Unbeknownst to him, Naruto is both the World's Strongest Man and the World's Best Warrior, especially in the Magic Realism world that Ryosuke lives in, and unsurprisingly, he gets curb-stomped hard.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Thanks to his failed attempted murder of Ai, it not only led to her meeting Naruto for the first time and subsequently falling in love and marrying him, but overall made her and her children's life far brighter than it already was. Also, his failure made it much harder for Hikaru to murder Ai, to the point that he had spent over a decade to plan Ai's death.
  • Otaku: Ryosuke is a crazed idol fan, his object of obsession being Ai.
  • Paper Tiger: Ryosuke is pretty much a dangerous murderer from the perspective of Ai (an untrained civilian) and the twins (literal four-year-old kids), but against Naruto, an experienced and hardened shinobi with Ki Manipulation, he's practically an ineffective weakling who does down in a second.
  • Posthumous Character: He doesn't die from committing suicide like his canon counterpart, but he's effectively removed from the plot and spends the rest of his life rotting in jail thanks to Naruto.
  • Psycho Knife Nut: What murderous Loony Fan wouldn't be complete without a knife.
  • Restraining Bolt: Thanks to being placed under a Genjutsu by Naruto, Ryosuke is unable to slander Ai after being jailed.
  • Shadow Archetype: His reaction to discovering Ai's pregnancy is contrasted with Goro's, who is shocked and slightly disheartened at first, but decides to put his job as a doctor first.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: He only appears in the first chapter, but his failed murder of Ai and beatdown by Naruto not only led to the two characters meeting and subsequently falling in love but also prevented the story from turning into a full-on revenge-driven tragedy.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: By failing to kill Ai, he was also spared from committing suicide. Instead, Naruto inflicts a Fate Worse than Death onto Ryosuke by using Genjutsu to prevent him from slandering Ai, and he spends the rest of his life rotting in jail.
  • Stalker with a Crush: Technically, he started stalking Ai after his crush on her turned to hatred.
  • Starter Villain: He's the first antagonist encountered by Naruto.
  • Straw Fan: Ryosuke is representative of a selfish and rabid fanbase, which can't accept that celebrities are humans, too, and have their own private lives.
  • Unwitting Pawn: Aqua and Naruto suspect that he was just a tool that was used by Ai's former boyfriend to get rid of her. Ryosuke was an unremarkable student, who didn't seem smart enough to find Ai, so he must have gotten the info from someone else. Chapter 7 confirms this to be the case.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Not that Ryosuke was the most composed individual, to begin with, but after failing to kill Ai and being beaten by Naruto, he goes on a rant about her being a false idol who doesn't care about her fans.
  • Would Harm a Child: While he might not be above killing children, especially if they're related to Ai, he has no problems with leaving Aqua and Ruby orphaned and mentally scarred if he did successfully murder Ai. To say the least, this ends up hitting one of Naruto's Berserk Button.
  • Yandere: His entire character is built upon this trope, as a fan whose obsession with an idol crosses to the bloodshed territory.
  • You Monster!: Naruto gets called this by Ryosuke when he is "about to" kill him, which is incredibly hypocritical given his disgusting personality as a Stalker with a Crush and what he was planning to do to Ai.

    The Culprit (Unmarked Spoilers

Hikaru Kamiki

Ai's former boyfriend and the biological father of Aqua and Ruby.

  • Arch-Enemy: He's shaping up as this for the entire Uzumaki Family.
  • Big Bad: Of Shattered Lies, being the one person who can personally threaten the happiness of the Uzumaki Family.
  • Didn't Think This Through:
    • Which is lampshaded by him in his debut. He didn't anticipate the idea that a random person could notice Ryosuke and prevent him from murdering Ai, and even then, Naruto's presence is a complete anomaly in the world due to his unique circumstances. Not only that, but the fallout ends up playing a massive benefit in Ai's favor and now making it harder for him to assassinate her to the point that he had to spend the next 12 years planning.
    • If the currently ongoing "15 Years of Lies" story arc in the canon manga is of any indication, he also would not foresee Ai keeping a personal journal of their time together, which could end up playing a crucial part in his downfall.
  • Evil Counterpart: To Naruto. Both are blond, handsome men with hidden darkness who are renowned in Japan's entertainment industry, are very cunning in their own ways, and played a pivotal role in Ai's development in understanding love. While Hikaru is trying to murder her for unknown reasons; implying to be a combination of sadism and a twisted form of affection, Naruto cherishes Ai's existence and would do anything to protect her.
  • Exotic Eye Designs: Hikaru has six-pointed stars on both of his eyes just like Ai.
  • Face of an Angel, Mind of a Demon: He heavily resembles Aqua and is the Big Bad of the fic.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: He's the Big Bad of the fic, and is The Man Behind the Man in regards to sending Ryosuke to assassinate Ai.
  • I Know Your True Name: On one hand, he's the only one besides Ichigo and Miyako who knows that Aqua and Ruby aren't Naruto's biological children. On the other hand, the only characters who are aware of his true identity are Ai and later Naruto.
  • Mugging the Monster: He has no real idea of what Naruto is or what he's truly capable of nor is he aware that Ai's family is completely guarded with unsuspecting Shadow Clones. This could mean that his attempts to kill Ai are either going to be a Foregone Conclusion like Ryosuke or he'll be a possible Victorious Loser, depending on what will go down.
  • No Name Given: His real name goes unmentioned in his debut at the end of chapter 7, but it's clear that he's Hikaru Kamiki from the canon series.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Because of Ryosuke's failed attempted murder of Ai, Hikaru indirectly helped his former girlfriend's life become far brighter than it already was, and much harder for him to kill her thanks to Naruto being in the picture.
  • Pretty Boy: To the point that Aqua practically resembles him.
  • The Reveal: Unlike his canon counterpart's Ambiguous Situation status regarding if he was the mastermind behind Ai's death or not, the fic reveals in his very first appearance that Hikaru really is the mastermind.
  • Serial Killer: Given his words of how "fun" it is to snuff out a rising star, it's implied and confirmed in canon that he has already murdered plenty of famous people before trying and failing to do the same with Ai.
  • Teens Are Monsters: He's around the same age as Ai, and is capable of manipulating a grown man into murdering Goro at the age of fifteen.
  • Villain No Longer Idle: After Ryosuke fails to assassinate Ai, he intends to take things into his own hands and even says the page quote.
  • Villainous Valor: He is determined to kill Ai no matter what will get in his way, even if he had to plan for 12 whole years or more.
  • Walking Spoiler: The very fact that there was somebody behind Ai's murderous stalker in the first place, let alone the fact that he's Aqua and Ruby's biological father, is a detail that isn't divulged in the opening chapters.

    The Crow Girl (Unmarked Spoilers

???

A mysterious, clearly supernatural girl who is aware of the twins' circumstances as reincarnates and Naruto's unique circumstances.

  • All-Powerful Bystander: Naruto accuses her of being this in chapter 28, and she doesn't deny it and states that she can't directly interfere with mortal affairs.
  • Always a Bigger Fish: World's Strongest Man and World's Best Warrior Naruto is, but The Crow Girl is clearly leagues above him despite her intentions to not fight. Never mind the fact that the Fates, the ones who're The Makers of the "web of fates", are more powerful than her.
  • Animal Motif: Crows, obviously, given how a swarm of them appear around her.
  • Brutal Honesty: Like canon, she doesn't mince her words at all whenever she has something to say, whether it be telling Naruto of his non-blood relations to the twins regardless of his beliefs, or informing him of Ai's original fate and showing him the canon event through an illusion.
  • God in Human Form: Maybe. She shares several motifs with the Japanese god Yatagarasu such as an affinity for crows (Yatagarasu is known as the "eight-layered crow", and the girl always has eight crows around her) as well as her status as a Mysterious Watcher and Blasé Boast of being more than what she appears but her true identity is currently unknown.
  • I Know Your True Name: She starts off her first meeting with Naruto by calling him a Shinobi, before listing his full name, various titles, and his reincarnation status as Asura Ōtsutsuki.
  • Mysterious Watcher: She's currently observing Naruto, by extension his family, for reasons only known to herself. Chapter 28 reveals that it's mostly out of interest due to Naruto being an "original anomaly", who also causes the fates of others around him to be muddled.
  • Reality Warper: She's capable of teleporting anywhere in the world, conjuring up illusions that can also show events of other timelines and realities, would very much send people to other dimensions, and that's not even the full extent of her power.
  • Troll: Shows some shades of this like her canon counterpart. The girl dramatically talks about the importance of Aqua and Ruby not being blood-related to Naruto while making gestures and with a smile on her face, before informing Naruto of his anomaly status and how Ai was fated to die the day they met.
