A modern Shaman King fighting game, inspired by the announcement of the new anime series:

3-v-3 team-based 2-D fighting game.

Furyoku is the meter system. Each character on a team has an individual Furyoku meter. Some characters have more maximum bars than other characters due to having higher Furyoku. All characters start the battle with maximum Furyoku, except for the point character, who starts the battle missing half a bar of Furyoku. Characters on the bench build Furyoku over time, unless they come in for an assist. Calling an assist or switching a character in costs half a bar of that character's Furyoku.

There is a guard break meter. Stronger Oversouls have a larger guard break meter, and some characters naturally have a larger guard break meter than others. If your guard is broken, your Oversoul breaks, you're left vulnerable for a few seconds, and you take increased damage. It costs half a bar of Furyoku to re-create your default Oversoul after a guard break, which happens automatically. If your guard is broken when you have a transformation-type Oversoul, it breaks and when you get your Oversoul back, it will be the original form, not the transformation.

The current roster is 13 characters: Yoh, Ren, Horohoro, Lyserg, Chocolove, Faust, Ryu, Anna, Jeanne, Marco, Silva, the Golem, and Hau.

The 7 main characters, Yoh, Ren, Horohoro, Lyserg, Chocolove, Faust, and Ryu all use their early-series Oversoul by default, their mid-series Oversoul for special moves, and their Armor Oversoul as a transformation. Certain team compositions have special names. Yoh, Ryu, and Faust is "Funbari Hot Springs". Ren, Horohoro, and Chocolove is "The Ren". Jeanne, Marco, and Lyserg is "X-I".

For a really long time, I've been on-and-off thinking up of a Scholastic Books Platform Fighter. I feel like it's at the point where the idea is presentable, so you can find more info on it here.

Y'know what? In light of all of the recent crossover Platform Fighter games being announced, I'm just gonna post my idea here:

Scholastic Books: Spellbinding Battles is a Nintendo Switch video game that only exists in Nexus' head. It's a Massive Multiplayer Crossover Tag Team Platform Fighter using characters from various children's and YA books published by Scholastic.note

Plays similarly to Super Smash Bros. in the sense that up to four players fight on multi-tiered battlefields on a 2-D plane, with the goal of knocking the other combatants off the stage.note  The game also has items that periodically drop during a match and stage hazards to watch out for. Unlike Smash Bros, however, this game will have a 3v3 tag team system in which players can choose up to three fighters and then switch between them on the fly during battle, similar to Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid. This means that any given match can have up to 12 fighters in it, three each for four players.

When fighters get attacked, a meter fills up and, when full, will allow the character to perform their ultimate attack called a Spellbinding Climax.

In addition to three fighters, players can also have an Assist Character that can be used during a battle. During gameplay, your assist is always displayed somewhere on the screen. When activated, your assist will momentarily appear in front of your character and (depending on the assist) will either do an attack, heal you, or help you out in some other way, before disappearing. When an assist is used, it can't be used again until its "cool-down period" ends, which is indicated by the "Wait Bars" on display below the Assist on the screen. Using Assists can be risky, though. If your Assist is hit by an attack while it is out, you will be "Assist Blocked" and you won't be able to use it for awhile. Just like in Dissidia Duodecim, if you use an assist while you are getting comboed, you will temporarily sacrifice your assist as it is instantly Assist Blocked, in exchange of you dropping out of the combo.

There are also Character Cards you can collect, each featuring a character from throughout Scholastic's publications. You can assign them to your fighters, granting them some type of passive power-up, skill, or resistance, similar to Spirits in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate or how Help Komas worked in Jump Ultimate Stars. Also like in Smash Ultimate, you collect these cards by defeating them in battles similar to Spirit Battles, with the playable fighters as stand-ins for the characters and rulesets invoking references to the character's origins. Character Card Battles are fought in the game's Story Mode, which is similar to one present in Dissidia Duodecim in the sense that you play through a story, with each chapter focusing on a different group of characters traveling through a world map and "dungeons", except the Manikin battles are replaced with Character Card Battles.

Game modes include Versus Mode (both local and online), Arcade Mode, Story Mode, Practice Mode, Options Menu, and Chronicles (similar to SSB's Masterpieces, this will let you read sample chapters of the books the characters originated from.)

     Proposed Playable Character Roster

At least until the next time I change my mind about the roster.

     Proposed Stages

     Proposed Items

     Proposed Assist Characters

Note: This list excludes all the Playable Characters, who all have assists. So yes, any of these characters could potentially be Promoted to Playable via DLC.

     Proposed Bosses

Note: All bosses are fought somewhere during the Story Mode.

     Proposed Character Cards

Note: This list is excluding all of the Playable Characters, Assists, and Bosses, who will all also have Character Cards, but includes any items that are also cards, since there's only a few of those.

Man, how the fuck would you even DO the Animorphs in a fighting game? My attempt at an Animorphs fan-game was a first-person MOBA simply because that was the only way I could think of to replicate the mission and team aspects of the series while keeping some of the trademark restrictions. It's implied that morphing takes about a minute and can't be done rapidly in combat, so how in the world would they work in a fighting game?

Also, very disappointed you went with David over Ax.

The lack of Ax really just came down to me being unable to figure out how do you make a centaur-shaped guy work in a game like this. As for David, really I just wanted at least one villain from Animorphs, Visser Three had the same issues as Ax, and I felt people would prefer David over Tom.

Centaurs can totally work in fighting games, Motaro was a character in Mortal Kombat, and platform fighters can have even more diversity in character size and shape than traditional fighters can. If anything, Ax is the MOST viable Animorph for a fighting game, since the other Animorphs have the aforementioned issues with morphing.

Yeah, I know about Motaro, and I feel like he only proves my point since he's a cheap boss character where many moves, including stuff like grabs, straight up don't work on him. And then when they brought him into 3D in Armageddon, they turned him into a minotaur because his frame didn't work properly with the physics engine.

As for Ax, one of my concerns is how he'd interact with certain grabs from some of the other characters without it looking dumb. Just a few examples I can think of is how is he going to get suplexed by a human? Or kneed in the groin from the front side? Or burped and laid down like a baby? Or get twisted into a pretzel shape? If I can figure out how to solve issues like this, maybe I'll add him as a DLC or something.

With the Animorphs that are playable, I admittedly took some creative liberties with them in order to make them work within the context of a fighting game. Essentially, I went the Ben 10 in Punch Time Explosion route, where they primarily fight in their base forms and with their throws, specials, and supers, they briefly morph into an animal, do an attack, and quickly demorph. The morphs do have long startup and endlag to reference the length of time of morphing in canon, except for Cassie, who's morphs are much faster than the others. She can also partly morph body parts for some of her normals in reference to her better control of morphing.

I did once consider just having them fight in their primary battle morphs the whole time, but I ran into a few issues. I had trouble coming up with a moveset for Cassie in particular because there's only so many ways a wolf can bite someone. With the exception of Marco's gorilla morph, I couldn't figure out how'd they aim and shoot with certain items like the Dracon Beam. And despite all being different animals with different sizes, stats, and such, they all did feel kinda samey to me, with their attacks being nothing but biting and clawing and such, whereas now, they feel a bit more distinct from one another.

While the current way I have it might not be the best representation of how the Animorphs actually fight, I feel that it gives a better feel for the characters as a whole as well as a reflection on how they use different morphs for different situations.

I should have gone here about my Monster Mash fighting game idea. Well, forgive the lame names.

My plot draft one is along these lines.

Muerto The Big Bad an Ancient Myian Linch acquires a laptop. However, he sends it by mistake. Atepmeds to record his victory speech on how he took over the world in shadow, and he can longer be defeated because he drained most of the magic and only a champion of monsters can break the final champer to defeat him. However, he sends it by mistake.

Wendel shows up confused and also joins, and finally, a random time portal opens, and Tao gets entered into the fight despite being a none sapient creature.

Muerto would be playable but not his Dracolichform, so that's 19 playable fights, a decent amount of fighters, but I don't have a Dance Battler...

I also considered adding a group of 5 Beast Man fighters with Elemental Powers, but I'm reconsidering if they are monster-themed enough.

Alright, I was directed here from the Fighting Games General Thread, so here we go, crosspost:

I've thought to myself for years about what my ideal Marvel vs. DC crossover fighter would look like, and have made multiple potential roster lists that have changed over time. I thought it'd be fun to share what I have at the moment.

    GENERAL STUFF TO MENTION
  • I obviously want both sides of the crossover to have an equal number of characters overall.
  • I also generally tried to have an equal number of heroes and villains on each side, as inspired by how Injustice 1's roster was set up. Some characters toe the line but I just put them on one side or another.
  • I also took inspiration from Injustice 2's Premier Skins to include additional characters. I tried to keep those equal between Marvel and DC as well, but didn't really focus on the hero/villain split here, so those ended up being predominantly heroes.
  • Also regarding the Premier Skins, some characters have skins of characters from the other universe so that certain Alternate Company Equivalents don't have to be left out based on their movesets being too similar.
  • These versions of the characters are generally based more on the comics than the movies and other adaptations.
  • Obviously this is a big roster and not exactly a realistic expectation for an actual game's roster size. It's all in good fun, though I did try to keep it contained, to an extent.

And with that, let's begin:

    DC Heroes

Premier Skins:

    Marvel Heroes

Premier Skins:

    DC Villains

    Marvel Villains

Premier Skins:

I also have a general idea for a story that is a combined adaptation of JLA/Avengers, Secret Wars (1984), and Convergence where the Beyonder and some other DC entity (haven't decided who) pit the heroes and villains of their universes in combat against each other on a Battleworld made from patches of both settings.

And here's my idea for a Marvel vs DC roster:

Three games:

  • Game 1: Avengers vs Justice League (only contains heroes who are prominent members of the Avengers and Justice League, roster is 20 base with 10 DLC)

  • Game 2: Marvel vs DC: Supervillains (only contains iconic villains, can connect to and cross-play with Avengers vs Justice League, roster is 20 base with 10 DLC)

  • Game 3: Marvel vs DC (contains heroes and villains not in the first two games, can connect to and cross-play with Avengers vs Justice League and Supervillains, roster is 20 base with indefinite DLC)

Essentially, once you have all three games, they can connect to each other and combine to form a singular game with a base roster of 60 characters and 20+ DLC characters. That's the only way I can see a Marvel vs DC game working, it needs to be built up to, similar to the MCU building up to Avengers by introducing the individual characters in their own movies.

As for the roster, I think you need to start big and work your way down. Who are the characters who absolutely NEED to be included in the base roster for an Avengers vs Justice League game?

  • Avengers: Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, Spider-Man. Any others could be taken or left, but these 5 are absolutely essential.

  • Justice League: Super-Man, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, Aquaman. Again, these 6 are essential.

So, that leaves 5 Avengers and 4 Justice League members to fill out the base roster for the first game. I'm thinking:

  • Avengers: Hulk, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Thor, Vision, Wasp, Black Panther, Black Widow.

  • Justice League: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, Hawkwoman, Cyborg, Black Canary.

Was bored, decided to update the Marvel vs Capcom sequel roster I posted in the Marvel Infinite thread months ago. 60 characters, excluding 14 Echo Fighters, 7 on each side. Tried to keep a balance between characters with different archetypes and such while also including fan-favorites (and in a couple cases, added not who I wanted, but who I'd expect to see).

  • Marvel Veterans: Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Wolverine, Storm, Magneto, Deadpool, Dr. Doom, Spider-Man, Venom, Rocket Raccoon, Captain Marvel, Dr. Strange, Dormammu, Thanos, She-Hulk

  • Capcom Veterans: Ryu, Chun-Li, Mega Man (with MM 11 inspired moveset), Zero, Tron Bonne, Chris, Wesker, Dante, Vergil, Arthur, Firebrand, Haggar, Morrigan, Jedah, Strider Hiryu, Amaterasu, Phoenix Wright, Captain Commando, Ruby Heart

  • Marvel Newcomers: Ms. Marvel, The Destroyer, Invisible Woman (Uses other 3 F4 members as assists), Loki, Shang-Chi, Scarlet Witch, Ant-Man, Kang the Conqueror, Magik, Blade, Black Panther (Shuri)

  • Capcom Newcomers: Kimberly, Lady Dimitrescu, Leon Kennedy, Nero, Felyne, Asura, Nina, Donovan Baine, Batsu, Harp Note, Savan (w/ Seneschal powers)

  • Marvel Echo Fighters: War Machine (Iron Man), Ironheart (Iron Man), U.S. Agent (Captain America), Abomination (Hulk), Kate Bishop (Hawkeye), Miles Morales (Spider-Man), Gwenpool (Deadpool)

  • Capcom Echo Fighters: Ken (Ryu), Akuma (Ryu), Shadow Lady (Chun-Li), Proto Man (Mega Man), Ada Wong (Leon), Lilith (Morrigan), Zangief (Haggar)

  • Bosses: Arishem the Judge, Chakravartin (Asura’s Wrath)

The new Guilty Gear character Asuka has inspired me to think about the viability of a Yu-Gi-Oh fighting game (that actually uses Yu-Gi-Oh card game mechanics). Here's what I have so far:

You play as the human characters from the anime with their pre-set decks, and Monsters, Spells, and Traps appear in front of that character to Attack, Defend, or Activate. It is a 6-button fighting game, with the buttons being ABCDEF. ABCDE inputs correspond to the 5 Monster and Spell/Trap zones and F corresponds to the hand. 236 and 214 special moves correspond to the Extra Deck. 22 special moves correspond to Graveyard effects. Both players have a 40-60 card deck and an up to 15 card Extra Deck.

Both players start with 8,000 Life Points. Both players instantly draw 5 cards with 5 seconds to play Monsters or set Spells/Traps, not able to Attack or activate effects until the Round starts, when they both draw a card. Both players continue drawing 1 card every 5 seconds. If a player loses all of their Life Points or tries to draw with no cards in their deck, they lose the Round. A Match is the best of 3 Rounds.

A 3-D arena fighter based on Mashle: Magic and Muscles. There are six buttons: Light, Heavy, Special, Super, Assist 1, and Assist 2. Hold back to block. Grabs are unblockable. Both players select 1 playable character (a Red Mage) and 1 assist character (a White Mage).

  • All Red Mages have 1,000 HP.

  • The meter system is Magic Power. Red Mages have a number of bars of meter equal to the number of Lines they have, and each bar is divided into 4 segments. Specials consume 1 segment of Magic Power. Supers consume 2+ segments of Magic Power. Mash has a different meter system called Stamina that functions differently from Magic Power.

  • There is a separate Assist Meter that has two segments which refills over time. Assists consume 1 segment and Super Assists consume 2 segments.

Red Mages have at least 1 Light, Heavy, Special, and Super move. Extra moves can be done by pressing a direction plus a button, pressing the same button multiple times, or holding the button and pressing directions. Pressing 2 buttons at once is a universal Basic Spell that every character but Mash can do.

  • Light+Heavy: Nalcos. A basic ball of magic shot forward.

  • Light+Special: A quick but short dodge in whatever direction is held. Invincible to Grabs.

  • Heavy+Special: Quientus. A universal close-range Grab that does no damage but puts the opponent to sleep, leaving them vulnerable for a follow-up. Any move interrupting it breaks Quientus.

  • Light+Super: A magic barrier. Uses 1 segment of Magic Power. Reflects attacks with no chip damage, but fails against Grabs. Recovers quickly if successful.

  • Heavy+Super: A green fire teleport. Uses 1 segment of Magic Power. Teleports a set distance in whatever direction is held. Invincible.

  • Special+Super: A transformation input. Not all characters have this.

White Mages have at least 2 Assists, one for each button, and 1 Super Assist, done by pressing both Assist buttons.

I have more than just an outline, I have movesets. Want to see them?

As Nickelodeon and Warner Bros both have their own crossover platform fighters, it's only natural that Disney should have one as well. And since it's their centennial anniversary year, I've come up with a roster of 100 characters I think would be fun to see as a fighting game roster (obviously, this would be way too big to do in an actual game, unless it was a live-service game like Multiversus that went on long enough).

  2. Donald Duck
  3. Goofy
  4. Beast
  5. Mulan
  6. Aladdin
  7. Elsa

  3. Scrooge McDuck
  4. Kermit the Frog
  5. Jack Skellington

Oooo, so we agreed on most of these, but this should be fun to compare...

  • We definitely agreed Mickey is a must have, but found it interesting you went a step further to include Donald and Goofy, whereas I didn't want to use that many slots for classic shorts. I do figure Mickey would either get Minnie as a costume or a movement clone, however.
  • Found it cool how we had a lot of overlap in choosing characters from Animated Canon. Mulan's an obvious slam dunk, Frozen is too hig to leave out, and Ralph, in universe, is from a video game. I went Genie over Aladdin because I felt he'd bring more to the table, but I could go either way on them. As for differences, I definitely made a point to include an old-school rep, and when Disney is known for their villains, Maleficent just seemed like a no-brainer. Having Beast fight seems antithetical to the movie's themes, so if we include anyone from Bat Beast, I'd go Gaston, but I ultimately skipped that over for allocation purposes. Stitch and Baymax, however, were just oversights on my end.
  • Pixar: Buzz is a no-brainer. Thought about doing Sully or Randall for Monsters Inc, but decided Wall-E as a ROB-esque fighter and Mei Ling as a transforming character would be more fun. Also went Elastigirl over Mr. Incredible to get an extra girl, and because shape-shifting is more unique than general big guy.
  • Star Wars: Felt the franchise was big enough to warrant a Jedi and a Sith, but if there's only one Vader's a good choice.
  • Disney Channel: From my biased POV Disney Channel has great choices for Fighters, but Agent P is more realistic (and definitely more realistic than Luz). However, I'd still rather see any of my picks, or if we stick to Phineas and Ferb, Doofenshmirtz.
  • Marvel was a pretty big oversight on my end. I could see Spidey being a licensing problem, and if so probably go Iron Man and/or Thanos instead.
  • Don't know if I could see Kermit happening, and prioritizing Darkwing over Scrooge is a bit odd, but overall pretty solid! About half our lineups were the same and a lot of places that weren't came pretty close.

Would Disney vs. Capcom be too much? It would match the inconsistent art style in Capcom's roster but the superpowers in Marvel's roster is varied enough.

[up][up]

  • Ah, yeah, I should've had Maleficent. I wanted to add at least one Canon character from Walt's era since the rest of them I chose skewed towards the Renaissance and Revival eras, and Peter Pan was the first one that came to my mind as a good fighter. In retrospect, I probably would choose Maleficent over him.
  • I also regret not being able to fit in Hercules and Sora, but I did mine with the mindset that this is the starting roster to a live-service game like Multiversus that would add more over time. In retrospect, maybe I'd replace Tron with Hercules, leaving Jack Sparrow the only live-action character starting out? That is the tendency most Disney crossovers follow.
  • You're also right in that Scrooge would probably be a slightly bigger priority than Darkwing, but hey, both of them are pretty much the faces of the Disney Afternoon, so it doesn't matter too much.
  • You make a good case for Elastigirl over Mr. Incredible, too, but I figured if this game happened then Bob would likely be used first.
  • Spider-Man would be okay: Sony only owns the movie rights, they don't have anything else. Yes, they published the Insomniac games, but that's actually completely unrelated and they don't have any sort og exclusivity license to Spider-Man characters when it comes to video games: case in point, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, a Switch exclusive published by Nintendo, has them, with most of the Insomniac cast reprising their roles, even.
  • In regards to some of the choices in my original 100:
    • Certain series I did a similar Sidelined Protagonist Crossover that Nick All-Stars did with Hey Arnold where the main character didn't seem like a fighter but another character did and felt like they could represent their franchise: Ursula and Facilier with their magic and Ursula's octopus limbs, EVE with her flight and lasers, Tigger with his rowdiness, and Anger with his fire all felt like they fit a fighting game more than Ariel, Tiana, WALL-E, Pooh, and Joy respectively. Animal and Miss Piggy were almost this to Kermit, but I couldn't bring myself to leave him out.
    • It was honestly hard coming up with 20th Century Studios characters to add beyond the Simpsons (who, along with the Incredibles, I felt every member of the family needed to be represented), especially since I decided not to try and incorporate R-rated franchises like Alien or Die Hard. Ice Age was an obvious decision, as Fox's most successful animated film franchise that Disney has still attempted to make a future for after Blue Sky closed down, and Inigo Montoya because Princess Bride is a beloved classic that feels right at home among the Disney properties, and I felt he might have been a more interesting fighter than Westley (though Westley could probably be a costume for him).
    • The best opportunity I could think of to plausibly represent Finding Nemo was to have Hank as the fighter carrying Dory in the coffeepot.
    • Some characters I considered, but couldn't fit, included Jessie, Syndrome, Isabela Madrigal, Ian Lightfoot, Moana, Nick Wilde, Frollo, Mad Hatter, Cruella de Vil, Baloo, Timon & Pumbaa, Oswald, Greg Heffley, Chicken Little (yes, I actually like that movie), Aqua and Linguini & Remy. I considered Miguel Rivera but couldn't really get behind the idea of him as a Musical Assassin.
    • Mary Poppins I'm honestly surprised almost never appears in Disney crossovers, being the most iconic (non-racist) live-action film from Walt's era. Roger Rabbit doesn't appear a lot either, but he apparently has a bunch of legal issues that make that hard.

Let's see if this is close to where it needs to be:

Base:

  1. Mickey Mouse
  2. Maleficent
  3. Aladdin & Genie
  4. Mulan
  5. Stitch
  6. Sgt. Calhoun
  7. Elsa
  8. Jack Skellington
  9. Buzz Lightyear
  10. Sully
  11. Elastigirl
  12. Mei
  13. Jack Sparrow
  14. Homer Simpson
  15. Scrooge McDuck
  16. Perry the Platypus
  17. Spider-Man
  18. Thanos
  19. Yoda
  20. Darth Vader

Post-Launch:

  1. Kim Possible
  2. Baymax
  3. Wall-E
  4. Bill Cipher
  5. Iron Man

Uncertain Wave 2:

  1. Indiana Jones
  2. Moana
  3. Boba Fett
  4. Captain Hook
  5. Luz Noceda

    Explanations

Base Roster

  • Aladdin would be the primary fighter, with Genie aiding in a few attacks, including a special that only works three times per stock.
  • While I initially had Ralph on the roster over Calhoun for being a main character, I realized that the base roster was low on projectile users, whereas Ralph and Sully would likely have a ton of playstyle overlap. While I considered swapping Sully out for Meredith, I figured Monsters Inc was comfortably more popular while swapping to a secondary character in Wreck-It Ralph wouldn't feel out of place at all.
  • Despite limited roster space, I decided to keep Mei in the base game since her gimmick is strong enough to warrant inclusion and I didn't want Pixar to be confined to their early franchises.
  • Thanos gets in over Iron Man because only two villains seems odd. Nothing technically wrong with it, but it would definitely bother me.

Fire Wave

  • In the post-launch phase especially, I wanted to ensure characters would be compelling enough to keep people interested, especially if it was locked behind a paywall. It's also very hard to not leave certain sets of fans feeling left out. If I wanted to spend more time on this, I might swap some characters between waves, but for now, this is more or less the characters I'd shoot for.
  • Kim might be a little early, all things considered, but she's a different brand of action girl to anyone else shown so far and covers a wave of "childhood shows" between Duck Tales and Phineas and Ferb (albeit leaning towards the latter), and the live action tv movie proves there's still enough interest in the franchise.
  • Baymax is someone we agreed would be great for the roster but barely missed out on base due to stiff competition and me realizing his movie came directly between Wreck-It Ralph and Frozen. Of the three, I think Big Hero 6 is a little more divisive, though still loved enough for conclusion, and I don't think his pacifism is enough for him to compete in a "for fun" fighting game.
  • Wall-E is a beloved film and he'd be different from anyone else in the game.
  • Bill Cipher might be early for another tv character, but he's a fan favorite villain and at least I'm not double dipping on "smaller" franchises.
  • Iron Man because I wanted to end the wave with a crowd pleaser, I really wanted an Avenger, and I didn't want Captain America because of international release. Could swap with Thor or Hulk, but this is personal preference for a tech suit and striking red and gold.

Second Wave

  • First two require no explanation.
  • Boba Fett because Star Wars fans are dedicated enough to get a third character. Boba Fett would play quite differently from Yoda and Vader, has a distinctive appearance, and has a good mix of diehard fanbase and mainstream recognizability to edge out in a tough field, though Rey or Ashoka were damn close.
  • Captain Hook over Peter Pan for being a villain and I think being more popular? Could've perhaps done Tinkerbell but that just felt off for whatever reason.
  • Luz Noceda closes it out because while Owl House fandom may not be as big as Marvel or Star Wars, it's dedicated, and say it with me, she's sufficiently different from everyone else. Went with her over Eda because this roster is honestly pretty white and I think her glyph drawings could lead to some really inventive gameplay.

Other Close Cuts

  • Amphibia because while it had a successful run, Gravity Falls came first, Owl House had a tighter cult (even if cancelled sooner), and the most popular characters - the humans, have less going for them than the slightly less popular Amphibians.
  • Woody because Buzz had more standalone material.
  • Muppets because the vibe just felt a tad off, though I could be sold on Animal.
  • Bender because I forgot about Futurama and don't want to go back at this point.
  • Tron because I don't know how popular the work actually is.
  • Pete and Darkwing Duck just kinda got passed up by other options.
  • Sora because he's already in Smash so his ability to sell units is automatically a lot lower.

Possible Outfits

  • Mickey Mouse has Minnie, Steamboat Willie, and Sorcerer's Apprentice
  • Aladdin could swap out with Jasmine if they're willing to fudge the heights a little
  • Mulan has "boy" and "girl" outfits
  • Stitch has a lot of experiments with similar builds
  • Elsa couldn't be switched with Anna, but she could have a look-alike outfit
  • Jack Skellington could maybe switch with Sally?
  • Buzz has Zurg, and while less likely to be used, Warp Darkmatter
  • Elastigirl has her old outfit
  • Scrooge McDuck with Donald perhaps?
  • Spider-Man has Venom and several Spiderverse counterparts
  • Darth Vader to Kylo Ren if he looks different enough to tell during gameplay
  • Kim couldn't quite switch with Shego, but that's a no-brainer palette swap
  • Boba Fett has Jaingo plus generic Storm Troopers
  • Luz wouldn't have her spoiler appearance, but her Azura outfit is fair game

If we're doing combo fighters, I think Aladdin would work best like this:

  • Normals/Neutral Special: Aladdin.

  • Up Special: Carpet

  • Side Special: Abu

  • Down Special: Genie

  • Super: Genie Wish (can only be used 3 times, turns Aladdin into a Prince temporarily, making him stronger and turning Abu into an elephant for his side special)

And Jasmine can have Raja as an assist.
