At least he can help out with something.
12F, Caster Operator of Rhodes Island, will provide tactical aid for the squad with Originium Arts.
Rarity: ★★
ID: No. 9
Subclass: Splash
Tags: Starter
Skills: N/A
Talents: Dodge Rate Up
Affiliation: Op Team A4 - Rhodes Island
Race: Savra
Birthday: March 3
Height: 181cm

"You have my thanks for allowing me to join you. From now on, I will do my best to serve you, Doctor, with my alchemical skills. I have never had a name... but if you must call me something, you can refer to me as 12F."

A veteran mercenary with many years of combat experience, serving as a caster in Rhodes Island.

  • Author Avatar: If you complete all secret objectives in Episode 8, you will have the access of an extra epilogue scene where the Doctor has a conversation with 12F. Depending on the dialogue choices you choose in the ensuing conversation, 12F will respond differently. If you choose to be silent with his attempts for a small talk, the conversation will end prematurely. If you choose to spill the Doctor's heart out to him, he will reassure both the Doctor and himself that their efforts will net a good result if they choose to do good. Then at the end of that fruitful conversation, as the Arknights producer Lowlight's mouthpiece, 12F tells the players under the guise of that conversation that there will be more of this choice-branching cases in the future content.
  • Born Lucky: His Operator Record reveals that this is the only reason why he's still alive despite having no notable skill beyond that of a mook; he's just that lucky. Whether it's the decisions he took in combat, the battle he survived while his comrade didn't, or the enemies who just happened to spare him - everything is nothing but a fluke.
  • Damned by Faint Praise: Although his bio paints 12F as a pretty good operator, there are several lines here and there that sounds like whoever composed his dossier was being ironic about it, with examples like "At least he can help out with something.", and "Didn't hold up the squad", as if him merely not being The Load is considered to be a great achievement.
  • Face of a Thug: 12F's second archive file notes that he "appears very stern and abrasive", but comments from other Operators indicate that he serves as The Heart by helping out in various ways and is among the most encouraging of the Operators.
  • The Ghost: Not him, but his best friend Owl. He mentions her several times in his voicelines, however, she is yet to be seen in person.
  • Lizard Folk: He's from the Savra race, and his entire body is lizard-like... though he more specifically resembles a horned lizard.
  • Nice Guy: He is very supportive and loyal to the Doctor, and even when the mission fails he has nothing but encouragement for the Doctor that victory will be theirs soon.
  • No Name Given: As noted below, he was never given a proper name.
  • Starter Mon: TR-6 gives him as a first-clear reward.
  • Super-Reflexes: 12F gains a permanent buff at level 30, which gives him a 50% chance to dodge ranged physical attacks.
  • Weak, but Skilled: His profile states that while 12F's Originium powers is not decisive in any of the battles he has been involved in, his grasp of them is slightly better than the typical casters, which may explain his ability to survive in the five years of his combat experience. This is reflected in his gameplay to some degree: despite being a 2-star with no special skills, upgrading his potentials will further boost his attack stat, in addition to his talent that grants 50% chance to dodge physical attacks.
  • You Are Number 6:By his own account, "12F" is his codename. He was never given a proper name, and now chooses to identify by his alias. 12F is the hexadecimal notation of 303, or March 3rd, his birth date. This is not his actual birth date either, but the date of his "rebirth" and when he was given the name.

Skills: Enforcement Mode, Ultimatum
Talents: Enforcer
Affiliation: Empire of Ursus
Race: Ursus
Birthday: November 10
Height: 159cm

"Thank you for rescuing me; this life is yours to spend. Though there's not much I'm capable of, if you ever find some way for me to be useful, please let me know. Code name? ......Um, why don't you just call me Absinthe."

One of the survivors of the Chernobog riot, the daughter of a local policeman who lost his life in the uprising.

  • Action Survivor: She was able to survive the horrors of Reunion's attack on Chernobog largely alone. While she did get out of it alive, if only barely, the experience caused tremendous damage to her psyche.
  • Animal Motifs: Bears, due to her Ursus race. One appears in her Elite 2 artwork.
  • Finish Him!: Her first skill Enforcement Mode increases her attack power and switches her target priority to enemies with the lowest HP, having infinite duration. Her second skill Ultimatum changes her basic attacks into one that delivers multiple weak hits, but will ignore targets who are above a certain HP threshold. Her talent, Enforcer, will increase her outgoing damage when the target has less than 30% of their health. Overall, her kit seem to be geared towards eliminating weakened enemies efficiently. Sounds similar to the abilities of a certain Lupo with a fluffy tail, does it not?
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Absinthe lost both of her parents during the Catastrophe of Chernobog, and is wracked with both depression and Survivor's Guilt. Unlike most other operators who also went through traumatic events in their lives, especially her fellow Chernobog survivors, Absinthe doesn't take this well at all. She hardly ever speaks to anyone and keeps her distance, even if she doesn't hesitate to help others, and her eyes are always dull and lifeless in either of her CGs.
  • Death Seeker: Has elements of this as her handlers have noticed she has very little regard for her own safety during missions, which is a concern for them.
  • Gratuitous Foreign Language: Her English voice blurts out a single Russian line for her "Talk 2", while her "Selected" lines are spoken entirely in Russian.
  • Magitek: Absinthe channels her Arts through the firing of her gun, not unlike the gunblades of Final Fantasy or Myrtenaster.
  • Mix-and-Match Weapon: Her weapon is basically a Magic Wand with a cylinder. If she is wearing a Noon Twilight outfit, she switches her cylinder-type wand to the one resembling a semi-auto rifle.
  • Odd Friendship: After joining Rhodes Island, she apparently became close friends with Purestream, despite neither having much in common.
  • Temporary Online Content: Absinthe can be recruited as a welfare operator during the Children of Ursus event. Finally Subverted with Record Restoration.
  • Tragic Keepsake: The weapon she uses belonged to her father, which she had recovered from his corpse.
  • When She Smiles: While she usually always has that gloomy frown on, in "Rewinding Breeze" she lets out a bright smile as Purestream, Elysium, and Thorns help her around with her wand's maintenance.

Amiya, leader of Rhodes Island, will fight alongside you.

Skills: Tactical Chant γ, Spirit Burst, Chimera
Talents: ???, Emotional Absorptionnote
Affiliation: Rhodes Island
Race: Cautus-Sarkaz Chimera
Birthday: December 23
Height: 142cm

"I'm so glad you're back, Doctor. Now we can walk this path together, me with you, and you with me."

The leader and public face of Rhodes Island. Friendly and capable, she works alongside Kal'tsit and Doctor to fight for the future of the Infected and other problems the landship faces.

For tropes related to her Guard version, please refer to her entry on the Guards subpage.

  • Ability Required to Proceed:
    • In order to advance the story past stage JT8-2, which is the point where Amiya unlocks her Guard kit, she must have been promoted to Elite 2 and be in the team lineup for the next node to unlock. You are encouraged by the game to promote her by Chapter 7, because the chapter boss Patriot has ridiculously inflated defenses that can be easily bypassed by Amiya's S3 Chimera, which is unlocked at Elite 2.
    • Notably, the boss of the stage in question, Talulah, also has a vulnerability to Amiya's true damage since they'll get a heavy defensive buff when below half health, which Amiya can totally ignore with some support.
  • Achilles' Heel: The rings on her fingers help channel and regulate her Arts, so damaging or otherwise compromising them will shut her down pretty quickly. FrostNova takes advantage of that in their second battle, freezing her rings in magical ice to hamper Amiya's powers.
  • Actress Allusion: This is the second time Tomoyo Kurosawa voices a strong, cute, mobile game heroine endowed with special powers and bunny ears.
  • All There in the Manual: Her age is never specified in the game. The Arknights Universe Compendium, Terra: A Journey, reveals that she was born in 1083, which makes her 13 at the game's start in 1096 and then 14-15 after the Time Skip in the Victoria storyline.
  • Animal Motifs: She has rabbit ears, a trait from her Cautus race.
  • Armor-Piercing Attack: While her Chimera skill is active, her damage will ignore all of a foe's DEF or RES, making her one of the very few sources of "true damage" in the game.
  • Awesome, but Impractical: Amiya's second and third skills are extremely powerful, but they take a long time to charge up and also come with nasty side effects afterwards (Spirit Burst stuns Amiya for 10 seconds when the skill ends and activates automatically to boot, while Chimera outright forces Amiya to retreat when the skill ends), making them not very useful in general gameplay.
  • Badass Adorable: Small, cute, kind, and wholeheartedly dedicated to helping others, but also a wielder of powerful Arts who doesn't hesitate to fight for the peace she strives for.
  • Bad Powers, Good People: Amiya's Arts are dark in color, she manifests a black crown over her head when using her powers, her dangerous chimeric powers are highly demonic in appearance, and her uncanny empathic abilities are often played in a sinister light, not to mention that her passive talent implies that she also may be an Emotion Eater. It's also implied that her mere existence as a Chimera and bizarrely powerful Arts are highly unnatural in ways that many characters are wary about. And not only is she secretly the heiress to the late Sarkaz queen, she is also heavily suspected to be the Lord of Fiends of Sarkaz prophecy. Despite all of this, Amiya remains a sweet, kind, and meek young girl - provided you don't cross her boundaries, of course.
  • Blue Is Heroic: She sports blue in most of her outfits (including her default one) and she's a heroine.
  • Big Damn Heroes: She saves Ch'en in Chapter 5, disabling Mephisto's zombies and Faust's snipers.
  • Boring, but Practical: Her default skill Tactical Chant γ is just a generic attack speed buff, similar to some other operators' default skills (albeit a stronger version than theirs). However, it's her only skill without a significant drawback, making it the most consistent. It helps that the skill's low cost and Amiya's talent let her continually spam it.
  • Brutal Honesty: She doesn't hesitate to call Mephisto a psychopath. See her second Shut Up, Hannibal! entry below.
  • The Chosen One: According to an ancient Sarkaz prophecy, Amiya is the "Lord of Fiends", the Sarkaz's rightful king. Amiya was a Cautus from Rim Billiton chosen to be the heir to Theresa, the previous Sarkaz's Lord of Fiend, to deny her usurper brother the throne.
  • Commonality Connection:
    • Amiya invokes this trope in Chapter 2, showing her hands to Misha to prove that she's also infected just like her, earn Misha's trust and assure her that Rhodes Island is sent as an escort.
    • Amiya and Rosmontis's friendship is because both of them are young girls who have a powerful, but often uncontrollable, Mind over Matter Originium Arts.
  • Conveniently an Orphan: The 3rd anniversary PV shows the Doctor rescuing her years ago from a wrecked RIM Billiton landship and becoming her Parental Substitute, heavily implying that her biological parents died there. Terra: A Journey later reveals her parents were parts of a team tasked with retrieving a part to renovate the Rhodes Island landship, but they got ambushed and killed along the way.
  • Dangerous Forbidden Technique:
    • At its most basic level, the skill Chimera doubles Amiya's attack power, grants her increased maximum health and attack range, and causes her spell to bypass the target's defense and Arts resistance. The catch is that she's forcibly retreated after the skill duration ends.
    • To a lesser extent, her skill Spirit Burst is also this - it lets her shoots out multiple weak attacks at random enemies in range, but leaves her stunned for 10 seconds when finished.
    • In the plot, Amiya shatters one of her protective rings in order to access her Guard form. Said form is Amiya tapping into the power of the Sarkaz's Lord of Fiend.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Her powers range from "dark" at best and "demonic" at worst, but she's still the kind leader of the protagonist faction.
  • Death or Glory Attack: Chimera is this. It increases range, gives a massive Atk and Max Hp boost, allows attacks to ignore the Res check and KO's Amiya when it ends. It's thus used either in an emergency or when its overwhelming power would guarantee victory.
  • Emotion Eater: Tying into the below, this is implied with her Emotional Absorption talent, which restores extra SP whenever Amiya attacks or kills enemies.
  • The Empath: She has demonstrated an ability to access or even manipulate the emotions of others several times, such as when she calms down a panicking Jessica, or when she uses it to suppress Mephisto's zombies in Chapter 5. Her 2nd talent basically weaponizes this, with her regaining SP by absorbing emotions of enemies she attacks and/or kills. Her second skill is even called Spirit Burst. However, Operation 5-10 reveals a limitation to this ability, which Faust easily deduced. While Amiya can feel and manipulate emotions, and read past memories, she cannot predict thoughts. Faust caught her by surprise when he shoots Amiya while they were talking..
Faust: You can read my mind.
Amiya: No, I just felt it.
Faust: So, you'd have no idea what I'm thinking.
  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: In the finale of Chapter 5, Amiya explains to Faust that her empath powers are only limited to feeling others' emotions. The Reunion member realizes that she can't actually predict thoughts, so he shoots Amiya without hestitation. It left Amiya startled but she was still able to block the attack at the last second.
  • Expy: She is one to Mash Kyrielight of Fate/Grand Order.
    • Down to brass tacks, both Mash and Amiya find themselves teaming up with the protagonist in order to stop a scheme of mass destruction.
    • In terms of characterization, both Mash and Amiya are the respective protagonists' loyal Number Two, with very unsubtle Ship Tease elements. Incidentally, both are secretly artificial hybrids in a way, with Mash being a demi-servant while Amiya being a Chimera of Cautus base.
    • Finally, gameplay-wise, both characters are Starter Mons that are unique as far as their games go, cannot be rolled from the gacha, whose important upgrades are tied to story progression, and will technically always be in the party for story purposes whether they are actually in the current team setup or not.
    • As of Chapter 8, fans have started to compare Amiya to Solomon, due to it being revealed that the ten rings she wears on her fingers aren't just to keep her Oripathy in check, but also to seal her Demon King powers. Each time she removes a ring, she unlocks a new power. However, since the rings are also keeping her alive, what will happen when all ten are gone?
  • Foreshadowing:
    • When Amiya is visiting the Lungmen slums in the beginning of Chapter 4, a mysterious voice speaks in her head, talking about the negative emotions associated with being an Infected, such as hatred and despair. This scene actually foreshadows two things: The first is that Amiya is an empath who can access the emotions or memories of others, a talent that would only be demonstrated for the first time later in the same chapter. The second is that Amiya notices Ch'en nearby after this incident, with the mysterious voice actually foreshadowing or emphasizing Ch'en's views on Oripathy.
    • Additionally, SilverAsh also seems to know something about her being related to Sarkaz royalty.
"That girl... Amiya, I believe her name was? She's no ordinary girl. If you don't put shackles on her wrists today, you will find yourself placing a crown upon her head tomorrow."
  • Gameplay and Story Integration:
    • Amiya with her S3 equipped is extremely effective against Patriot in Chapter 7, which makes sense considering how she's fighting him in that mode in the plot itself. In gameplay terms, it allows her to deal true Arts damage that completely negates Patriot's colossal DEF and RES, since she's firing on all cylinders. To further drill this home, Amiya with Chimera up is one of the few ranged units with enough HP to survive his spear throw, which allows her more leg room to take him down like she ultimately does in the plot, before she herself expires.
    • One of the conditions to unlock her module is to land the killing blow on Skullshatterer in stage 3-8, basically re-enacting Skullshatterer's death in story from being stabbed by one of Amiya's Arts blade.
  • Good Is Not Soft: She might be one of the kindest characters in the story, but she will not hesitate to turn her Arts on anyone who threatens her, her cause, or those she cares about (read: almost everyone).
  • Gut Feeling: The story implies this as the reason to how Amiya was able to deduce that the second time they're against Skullshatterer, it was actually Misha in disguise. Amiya herself is the one who killed the real Skullshatterer, Alex, while her friend Misha just called her on the phone explaining her Face–Heel Turn to join Reunion. At the sight of Skullshatterer marching on the battlefield again after being thought dead, Amiya is the first person to realize what's going on, even if she can't muster up the courage to explain it to others.
  • Heroic BSoD:
    • Amiya takes the deaths of her friends, comrades and innocent people very seriously. Being involved in or seeing a sight of such incidents would wreck her current emotional state if not outright sending her to depression.
    • She doesn't take it very well when the mission to rescue Misha ends up accomplishing absolutely nothing aside from getting countless people pointlessly killed. In that entire story arc, this happens to her twice: First when she became confused, startled and pleads that she didn't intend to kill the first Skullshatterer, Alex. The second is when she's well aware that they had to kill Misha (who disguised herself with Alex's clothes). Amiya then spends the beginning of Chapter 4 locking herself in her room for nearly a day.
Why must I watch people disappear before my eyes one by one... even though they can be saved.
    • Even Amiya's friends at Rhodes Island are aware of this characteristic, as demonstrated in Operation 4-9 when the Doctor had to cover Amiya's eyes to prevent her from fully seeing Mephisto setting fire to captured citizens.
  • Heroic RRoD: While she is quite powerful in-story, Amiya often collapses or becomes extremely fatigued whenever she exerts her chimeric abilities, such as when she defended against Talulah in Chapter 1.
    • In-game, this translates into her Chimera skill (and to a lesser extent her Spirit Burst), which gives her immense power before knocking her out at the end of its duration.
    • In Chapter 8, after using the power of an ancient Lord of Fiends to gain a copy of Chi Xiao and win the battle against Talulah, Amiya collapses from the strain. It's only when Kal'tsit injects her with a serum derived from the Doctor's blood that she regains consciousness.
  • Hidden Depths: In one of her Trust lines, it is revealed that she knows how to play the violin. This comes into effect gameplay-wise with her Violin Solo base skill, which restores the morale of all resting operators when assigned to a dormitory. This is also referenced at the beginning of the "Obsidian Festival" side story, as she laments that she feels her skills have gotten rusty and she doesn't feel she can play adequately enough to join the public performances.
  • In-Series Nickname:
    • Mephisto calls her "My dear rabbit", although that is more of a Term Of Endangerment than an affectionate nickname. During his surprise and fit of rage in Chapter 5, Mephisto also called Amiya as "The Rabbit of Rhodes Island".
    • W calls her "little bunny", or in its longer form, "Little Bunny of Rhodes Island".
  • Magical Incantation: In Operation 4-10, Amiya recites an incantation after Frostleaf's own incantation was interrupted by FrostNova. This is implied to have created a massive Black Arts that managed to scare away and distract the Yeti Squadron for a while.
"... Your mind can hide nothing from me."
  • Magikarp Power:
    • Compared to other 5-stars or even 4 and 3-stars for that matter, she's actually fairly weak right off the bat due to an unrevealed talent, her stats being pretty lame prior to promotions, and her Potentials not being accessible through Recruitment, Headhunting, or even Caster Tokens as substitutes. In fact, Amiya's Tokens are tied to story progression to incentivize you to go through Episodes 4-8, and getting her to Elite 2 reveals her hidden talent and its corresponding buffs.
    • Her third skill, which can deal true damage (which ignores both DEF and RES), is generally seen as more trouble than it's worth for most of the early game content. However, it becomes more relevant in Chapter 7 onwards, particularly since it's one of a few things that can severely harm Patriot due to his insanely high DEF and RES.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter:
    • She's one of the few Operators that you cannot get from either the Headhunting gacha or Recruitment. Her Tokens are rewarded in specific story chapters, which means that her gameplay progression is also tied to the main story.
    • Her Potentials do not follow the typical pattern of all other Operators. For example, the usual upgrade for Potential 2 is a reduction to the operator's deployment costs, but Amiya's is a +200 boost to her max HP.
    • She's the only operator with an extra Elite 1 artwork, while the rest only receive their alternate artworks on their Elite 2 promotions.
    • She's the only 5-star Operator with three selectable skills, something that all 6-star operators have. All other 5-star operators have only two selectable skills.
    • Speaking of skills, before the introduction of THRM-EX, Amiya was the only Operator with a skill that outright knocks her out at the end of its duration.
    • She is the only Operator who can change their own Operator class (in her case, from a Caster to a Guard). Hypergryph has stated that no other Operator will get this specific mechanic, especially after the "Il Siracusano" update allowed other Alternate Operators to coexist with their original forms both on the battlefield and in the base.
  • Mysterious Past: Thanks to the Doctor's amnesia, not much is really known about Amiya's past and neither her nor Kal'tsit are in any hurry to talk about it. It also doesn't help that both her medical records and profile are actually censored in-game. In the "Vigilo" event and the teaser "PV3", it is revealed that Amiya was saved and raised by The Doctor.
  • Mythical Motifs: Jackalope, due to her Cautus/Chimera race and being linked to the (horned) Sarkaz.
  • New Powers as the Plot Demands: An inverted case. Chapter 4 gives a major revelation that Amiya has empath powers and she's already well aware of it before, but she's keeping it a secret from Kal'tsit. It also doesn't help that Amiya is written with a Mysterious Past, which is a side-effect of the Doctor's amnesia. How she managed to conceal this ability for a long time (and for 4 in-game chapters) is another plot point... It's just that it's conveniently explored around that time when someone had to help ease a traumatized Jessica.
  • No One Gets Left Behind:
    • In the first chapter's ending, Amiya tries to go back and look for any remaining Rhodes Island members before they would evacuate. Unfortunately when she went to the place where Talulah fought Ace, the latter was no longer around and Amiya returned to the rendezvous point alone and seemingly lost in thought.
    • She naturally agrees with Meteorite's plan of denying Frostleaf's Heroic Sacrifice against FrostNova. The plan went smoothly as they all went back home safely.
  • The Promise: There's two between Amiya and Misha:
    • In Chapter 2, Amiya promised her friend Misha that she would be watching over the Infected children in the Lungmen slums when Misha would be away from them. This gets fulfilled since Chapter 4 when Amiya visits and plays with the children, even after Misha's death.
    • Also, Amiya requested Misha to teach her how to make dolls. Sadly, this can no longer be fulfilled given what happened to Misha at the end of Chapter 3.
  • Power Limiter: As confirmed by Kal'tsit, the rings she wears act as regulators for her abilities and are related to her health conditions. As Dobermann worries when they're faced by Talulah for the first time, Amiya's rings could break if she pushes her Chimeric powers too much. In Chapter 4, Kal'tsit lectures the Doctor on the utmost importance of checking Amiya's rings. As she levels up to Elite 2, she starts taking them off in her splash art, signifying her releasing more of her true power. It's unknown what would happen if she were to take off all of them, since that's never happened either in splash art or in-story.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: She puts a lampshade on this trope in her second Promotion quote:
We've lost so much that's dear to us to make it so far. Sometimes, I can't help but ask myself... is it really worth it?
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Whenever Amiya gets particularly agitated or infuriated, her eyes gain pinpricks of red, presumably heralding her Arts flaring up.
  • Screw the Money, I Have Rules!: At the end of Chapter 6, Amiya breaks the contract between Rhodes Island and Lungmen and refuses to take any of the money or compensation from Wei, pointing out that even though she can tolerate Wei using Rhodes Island as a pawn in his schemes, she absolutely will not associate with anybody willing to commit a genocidal purge of their own Infected citizens.
  • Series Mascot: As far as Arknights can be considered a "series". Amiya is the game's official mascot, and her face prominently appears as its icon. Her status as a Cautus means that rabbits are the animal most often used for promotional artwork and Arknights merchandise.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!:
    • When Skullshatterer mocks Rhodes Island as traitors by pointing out the irony of an infected group making an alliance with Lungmen (whom he views as slaughterers of infected), Amiya retorts by saying that it is the Reunion Movement's fault for bringing down Chernobog in the first place. (What she might've meant by this is that Rhodes Island wouldn't have felt the urge to ally with Lungmen only if Chernobog didn't fall.)
    • She does it on Chapter 5 when Mephisto threatens Amiya that she's about to become an enemy of all Reunion forces if Rhodes Island keeps on interfering with their plans.
Amiya: Not all Infected are the same. You and Miss FrostNova have nothing in common. Not everyone in Reunion is a psychopath like you.
Mephisto: What did she tell you? That woman...!
    • In the climax of Chapter 8, Amiya denies Kashchey's insinuation that all humans are violent, and reaffirms Kal'tsit's previous statement; that people who glorify violence like him are simply too far up their own asses to see that they can be wrong.
  • Significant Birth Date: In-universe, she reunites with the Doctor in Chernobog on her birthday of December 23, which is also the date a mysterious voice in the very first scene of the game compels the Doctor to remember.
  • Situational Sword: There are many reasons why Amiya isn't used nearly as often as her fellow Casters.
    • Despite being a Starter Mon, Amiya is only really useful when upgraded to Elite 2, where her talent Emotional Absorption is revealed, which gives her an amped source of SP to feed her very demanding skills (2 SP every time she hits an enemy, 8 SP every time she kills one). And even then, both of her unique skills are usually more troublesome than they're worth, due to them either stunning (S2) or taking her out of commission for a good minute (S3), on top of their obscene SP costs, thus putting additional weight on Amiya's deployment and activation of her abilities. Basically, the quirks of her kit make any other ST Caster instantly more appealing to use in most situations, since they don't come with as much tactical baggage, or self-crimping drawbacks to their more powerful skills. Still, this is mitigated somewhat by the fact that she has a fairly good ASPD, which enables her to make good use of Emotional Absorption.
    • Her S3, Chimera, is often regarded as this. It massively increases her range, gives her a strong max HP and ATK steroid, while letting her deal true damage to anything she hits. The catch is that it exhausts her to the point of requiring a medivac almost immediately after expiring, and its exorbitant SP cost that can be hard to cover without someone acting as a battery. Basically, it's Awesome, but Impractical against everything the player might face... until they square off against the Final Boss of chapter 7, who easily laughs off everything else the player may throw at him, but falls quickly to its Armor-Piercing Attack. It is also useful against bosses that have abilites that makes them unable to be bursted quickly by Physical and Arts damage. Such as...
  • Sketchy Successor:
    • Rhodes Island is effectively a remade version of Babel following its leader Theresa's death, with Amiya taking the mantle as its leader, and she's repeatedly burdened by the weight of her position. Not that this shortchanges her capabilities, as the fact that she can actually manage the company and make large organizations willing to listen to a preteen girl and defer to her as the face of the company says a lot about how beyond her years her talents are - it's more that nobody that young can have the worldly knowledge and experience to manage such a multidisciplinary company, especially when it comes to conflict as she's still very sheltered and naive. However, this is downplayed in practice: most of Rhodes Island genuinely respects Amiya, who serves as The Heart for the company, and she also has other members like the Doctor and Kal'tsit to pick up the slack
    • This is played straighter with her being Theresa's successor as the Lord of Fiends, as most of the Sarkaz consider her a weakling unfit to bear a power that was (seemingly) arbitrarily given to her, and an outsider due to her not even being a Sarkaz to begin with. In truth, Amiya is underprepared for just how much the crown she never asked for binds her, as she has no firsthand experience with Kazdel's bloody history nor any real way to reconcile millennia of hatred and killing, especially since Theresa was infinitely more respected and still considered a coward for choosing peace. Fortunately, as the story progresses, Amiya learns to better grow into and embrace her position, adamant on using her power to its fullest be the last chain in the cycle of hatred that has plagued the Sarkaz since it's existence.
  • Spam Attack: At Elite 2, she unlocks her Emotional Absorption talent that allows her to get bonus SP on hits and kills, allowing her to fire off her abilities with no end. While her latter 2 skills are hampered by their significant post-activation penalties, her first skill does not - allowing her to basically have it permanently up.
  • Starter Mon: Every player will receive Amiya as their first free 5-star operator. She will likely serve as a Crutch Character for the first few maps in the role of a DPS Caster, but can be useful in the late game even after 6-star operators have begun to show up.
  • The Symbiote: Her Module description reveals that the Civilight Eterna, or "the Black Crown", that denotes her status as the Lord of Fiends is actually a living, symbiotic entity created by precursors to help "catalogue" the world's history in an effort to protect its future. It also reveals that her empathetic powers are the result of her bond with the entity that Theresa imparted onto her instead of a latent power innate to her.
  • Touch Telepathy: An application of Amiya's empath powers. She demonstrates this for the first time in Operation 4-8 when she touched Jessica's hand in order to access her memories and enter her troubled mind.
  • Turn the Other Cheek: When Rosmontis, encouraged by the Guerrilla Shieldguards, expresses her desire to kill every single one of the people who ever hurt Amiya or her friends, Amiya has a flashback of her past with Theresa as Theresa stabbed her in the chest and chose her as the next Lord of Fiends along with all its warty entails. Amiya then rejects Rosmontis' opinion.
  • Uniformity Exception: Her Tokens do not describe an item, but a person's words. They're heavily implied to be Theresa's last words to her after stabbing her and imparting her with the Civilight Eterna (the source of her "Lord of Fiends" title) before she was killed by the Doctor.
"You will understand my choice one day... Forgive me."
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Near the end of the "Obsidian Festival" side story, Amiya berates the Doctor for these reasons: endangering most Operators during a volcanic crisis amidst the titular festival, almost exposing Rhodes Island by meddling in the internal affairs of Siesta without their approval, and picking fights with crazed fans just because the Doctor disagrees with their band of choice and claims that the Doctor's band of choice is better than them.
  • White Void Room: When she uses her empath powers to restore the sanity of a traumatized and speechless Jessica, their conversation is set in a white void space, just before Jessica regains consciousness.
  • Young and in Charge: Even though she appears young and inexperienced, and her birth year confirms that she reunited with the Doctor in Chernobog on her 13th birthday, she's trusted and competent enough to serve as Rhodes Island's official leader.

"Researcher Elena Urbica of Rhine Lab. A pleasure to make your acquaintance. We're supposed to call each other by codenames here, right? No problem. In that case, call me Astgenne. It's simple and easy to remember."

Astesia's sister, a researcher from Rhine Lab's Energy section and the former protege of its section head Ferdinand Clooney.

  • Abusive Parents: Her parents were control freaks and unsupportive of science, leading to her leaving home and changing her name.
  • Animal Motifs: Common house martin, like her sister.
  • Broken Pedestal: Rhine Lab Energy Section director Ferdinand Clooney was this to her, and she cut ties with him in "Dorothy's Vision". Her profile mentions that Astgenne saw her parents in him.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Astgenne has been mentioned in Astesia's voice lines though Astesia cut herself off from fully speaking her name.
  • Family Theme Naming: Her name also starts with Ast-, and both her English and Chinese name roughly translate to 'Origin of the Stars'.
  • Herd-Hitting Attack: Compared to Leizi, Astgenne's skills are geared towards hitting as many enemies as possible. Her talent ramps up her ASPD over time, while her skills have her shooting two attacks at once (which both bounce), even though she pays for that in the form of average modifiers.
  • Magic Staff: Wields one that serves as her Arts Unit, in contrast to her sister's astrolabe and sword.
  • Magic Versus Science: She's the Science to her family's Magic, and left home for good because of it.
  • Meaningful Rename: Her real name is actually Astgenne Urbica, but when she left home, Astgenne adopted the name "Elena" to signify breaking free from her family. After returning to her sister at Rhodes Island, she uses Astgenne as a codename.
  • Not So Above It All: For all their closeness, Astgenne is not above trash talking her sister - which she did in Astesia's Elite 2 promotion record.
My sister's dumb as a sack of hammers!
  • Polar Opposite Twins: Is this to Astesia. Astesia faithfully followed her family's astrology studies while Astgenne shunned it in favor of science, Astgenne being a decisive hothead while Astesia is calm and thorough. In gameplay, Astesia is an Arts Fighter Guard specializing in dueling enemies one-on-one, while Astgenne is a Chain Caster designed to hit a large amount of enemies.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Red to her sister's Blue.
  • Temporary Online Content: She's the welfare operator of "Dorothy's Vision".
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: She lost interest in her family's astrology legacy when she realized that studying them will not help people, and moved out for good after enrolling in a university. After "Dorothy's Vision", she transferred to Rhodes Island due to personnel changes in Rhine Lab Energy Section and her work getting frozen with no hope of restarting any time soon.
  • Shock and Awe: Uses electrical Arts as part of her repertoire.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Being Astesia's younger sister, she looks exactly what a mini Astesia would look like. Her talent is also a weaker version of Astesia's talent.
  • Unseen No More: Astgenne's first appearance was all the way back in 2017, in this batch of sprites. This means that Astgenne has been in the works for at least five years before finally making her appearance in summer 2022 on the Chinese server. Her appearance on Global had to wait even longer, nearly six years.

"Hmm... Wah, excuse me, I let my mind wander. Hello, Doctor, I am, my code name is... Umm... Ah, I remember! It's Beeswax. Do you like it? My tribe helped decide it for me."

A member of an ancient tribe from Sargon who arrived at Rhodes to search for a relative.

  • Animal Motifs: Argali, as from the print on her jacket.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: Her Arts manifest as blasts of sand.
  • Gathering Steam: Beeswax must wait for her skills to be off-cooldown before she can attack, which can take a while. However, after this "charge" period, her damage output will be tremendous due to her massive ATK and area damage.
  • Herd-Hitting Attack: Beeswax's basic attacks deliver Arts damage all around her, with the range depending on which skill she has equipped.
  • Horned Humanoid: Has a pair of horns as a Caprinae, but her horns are considered to be in magnificent condition even for her kind. This is a result of Beeswax constantly and meticulously taking care of them daily.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: Beeswax can best be described as a Caster version of Angelina, if her S3 is permanently equipped as a trait and her Healing Factor only affects herself. From the get-go, Beeswax cannot attack anything while her skills are not active, but will passively heal herself with her talent for as long as she is in that state. She's also a ranged unit specialized in soaking up damage in a class type that is normally exclusively composed of Glass Cannons.
  • Mythical Motifs: Her design and powers have links to the Egyptian god Khnum, who is conveniently pictured with a ram's head.
  • Regenerating Health: Her talent restores her health while her skills aren't active, improving Beeswax's survivability even further.
  • Shown Their Work: The hieroglyphs on the obelisk she summons are actual hieroglyphs.
  • Stance System: Her unique traits essentially make her gameplay this. While her ability isn't active, she has literally zero offensive power, but is so defensively sound that she's nearly impervious to most damage. Once she activates a skill, she temporarily loses the buffs and regeneration in exchange for significant AoE firepower, making her as squishy as other casters but much more damaging.
  • Stone Wall: In addition to having decent base HP and defense for a ranged-tile unit, Beeswax's trait gives her a massive boost to her defense and resistance as long as her skills aren't active (a whopping +200% DEF and +20 RES) - combined with her passive that gives her high life regen, she can generally laugh off almost all ranged attacks that come her way. She can take this even further with her 2nd skill, which summons an obelisk with high HP and defense that can block three enemies. If leveled, she can even tank Patriot's spear.
  • Third Eye: A glowing eye symbol appears on her forehead both in her Elite 2 artwork and when she's using one of her skills. According to her, it's a ceremonial seal symbolising the blessings and protection granted by her tribe's gods.

"Hello, you must be the Doctor? I'm Carnelian, attendant to Count Hohenlohe... Oh, I'm just a normal operator here at Rhodes Island. Watch what you say around my sister, okay?"

Beeswax's elder sister who was born in Sargon, but left to travel the world. She now works as the retainer for a Leithanien count after accidentally uncovering their identity.

  • Animal Motifs: Argali, like her sister. In fact, her coat has the same symbol and 'Ovis Ammon' written on it, just like Beeswax.
  • Blood Knight: Although Carnelian is refined and amicable in her everyday life, when in combat, all recounts of her fighting style describe her as being violent, bloodthirsty, and sadistic, showing that she clearly revels in the thrill of battle.
  • Contralto of Strength: Eri Kitamura provides a deep voice tone for the powerful Blood Knight Carnelian, in contrast to the quiet and soft spoken voice for her little sister Beeswax.
  • Cool Big Sis: Towards the young unnamed Leithanian count, who saw him as a "little brother" of sorts after the two warmed up to each other. She also vowed to protect and aid him whenever she could.
  • Cool Sword: Wields a long, thin sword that glows with molten light and has a blade inscribed with hieroglyphs, though she doesn't actually use it to fight.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: Like Beeswax, her Arts manifest as sandy blasts.
  • Gathering Steam: Her third skill will give her an attack buff that gradually increases over time. If she casts the empowered version of it, each hit will also apply a stacking mark to the targets, each of which increases her damage to that target by 20% (up to 100%). If she's allowed to fully stack both of these, her damage output can be tremendous.
  • Good Is Not Soft: To her allies and the Doctor, she's refined, affable, and quite friendly. To her enemies, she's bloodthirsty and downright sadistic.
(in base) "What's wrong? Are you tired? Get some rest. You've worked hard enough already."
(in battle) "GNAW THEM TO SHREDS AND DRINK THEIR BLOOD!!!"
  • Heal Thyself: In contrast to her sister's Regenerating Health, her first talent will instantly restore a portion of her max HP (45% at Elite 2 Potential 5) whenever she activates a skill, which doubles if her skill has been overcharged.
  • Image Song: "Real Me".
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: She's the first unit that can "overcharge" her skills by continuing to charge her SP meter a second time after charging it once. Once her skill has been charged twice, the icon turns orange and she can cast an empowered version of said skill.
  • Mighty Glacier:
    • Like Beeswax, she can only attack when her skills are active (and needs to charge them twice to maximize their effects, although her second talent helps with this), but can output insane area damage with no target limit when they're up. Unlike her younger sister, overcharging her first skill lets her keep her massive defensive buffs when it's active (along with another DEF buff), making her both incredibly tanky and hard-hitting.
    • This makes it so that Carnelian is notably more DPS-oriented than Beeswax, since her second talent also speeds up her SP generation when charging. Her third skill when charged makes enemies vulnerable to her and her second skill raises her ASPD. Furthermore, she can easily survive Aak's buffing when idle, and since she plays a more offensive role, doing so becomes a viable option.
  • Ornamental Weapon: As a Caster, she doesn't actually use the sword she carries with her to fight.
  • Quicksand Sucks: Her second skill has her use sand to slow down her enemies. If it's overcharged, she'll bind them instead.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Downplayed. She's not an enemy, but this is a notable difference between her and her far more placid sister Beeswax. Furthermore, Carnelian's skillset is by far the most offensively-oriented of the Phalanx Casters.
  • She Knows Too Much: When on a trip to Leithanien, she encountered a young duke and accidentally discovered that he was hiding his Oripathy infection, leading to her being detained by him. Fortunately, they managed to get along pretty well, to the point where Carnelian is now his retainer.
  • Spam Attack: Her second skill massively reduces her attack interval, which lets her dish out rapid AoE attacks.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: She's Beeswax's older sister, and looks almost exactly like an older, red-eyed version of her. When she was revealed, some confused her for a Beeswax skin at first.

"You seem like you're a pretty nice person. 'Doctor,' was it? My name is Ceobe, but if that's too hard to say, you can just call me Kay! I'll be in your care!"

An airheaded but tenacious girl who knows almost nothing about herself but the weapons she carries on her back, she was recruited into Rhodes Island as a means of avoiding her execution by Leithanian authorities after they discovered her Oripathy severity.

  • A Day in the Limelight: The animated miniseries Kay's Daily Doodles on the official Youtube channel focuses on her daily life spent hanging out with Bubble and Popukar on the Rhodes landship outside of missions.
  • Affectionate Nickname: "Kay", which is derived from the first syllable of her name. Vulcan came up with it after Ceobe asked her for a name similar to how Hibiscus calls Lava, "Little Lava" and since it was an on-the-spot question, Vulcan opted for the simplest nickname possible. Her name in itself is the pronunciation of the letters left on the axe handle, 'C', 'O' and 'B'. It is essentially the same as naming a dog 'Diogee'.
  • Animal Motifs: Dogs, due to her Perro race. Three of them (or rather, Cerberus, the one with three heads) also appears in her Elite 2 artwork. She has the temperament of a domesticated dog, too. She's extremely cheerful, prefers to obey orders rather than think for herself, and her ideal life just consists of eating, sleeping, and fighting bad guys (similar to how a dog constantly barks at the postman and other potential intruders).
  • Anti-Armor: She's already a Caster, so she already excels at killing high-DEF enemies, but she takes this even further with her first talent Thresher, which lets her deal bonus Arts damage equal to a percent of her target's DEF, and her second skill Really Hot Knives causing her to prioritize the highest DEF target in range. This means that not only does she ignore DEF, she actually gets more dangerous and aggressive the more DEF the target has, making her an optimal choice to shred enemy tanks faster than any other caster can. Her X Module doubles down on this by not only making her pierce 10 RES to give her leverage over high-RES enemies as well, but also causing the DEF-scaling damage to ramp up as she attacks one target, up to 75%.
  • Big Eater: Ceobe has a very big appetite, and her favorite spot on the Rhodes Island base is the cafeteria, from where she had to be forcefully dragged out several times before only to come right back and continue eating. Some base staff made it into a hobby to feed her like one would feed a pet, while less well-meaning ones took advantage of this to give her some prank food, though her Extreme Omnivore tendencies frustrated both groups since she likes anything she eats. Although she won't binge-eat, once she's started, it's only a matter of time until Ceobe starts raiding the kitchen pantry.
  • Buffy Speak: All her skills start off with the word "Really X" to describe the weapon in question.
  • Delicate and Sickly: "Delicate" may be the wrong word given her inhuman physical strength and endurance, but her Oripathy infection is highly advanced due to it having been left untreated for so long and it is considered a miracle she's even still alive, leaving the medical staff fearing her body might give out at any moment.
Has she dragged this body around all over the world? I'd call it a miracle, but her body... I hope there is still something we can do......
  • Dual Wielding: In her Elite 2 artwork, she holds a polearm and a staff on each hand.
  • Dumb Blonde: She's blonde and a Rare Female Example of Dumb Muscle.
  • Dumb Muscle: While she's very strong and wields potent Originium Arts despite barely even knowing what Arts are, Ceobe's solitude and lack of maturity has left her exceptionally ditzy and simple-minded. She often has to have simple things explained to her, and her ideal life simply consists of eating, drinking, fighting, and sleeping. The Doctor became the person she trusts most by working around this, finding ways to break down complicated concepts for her.
  • Easily Impressed: Ceobe is noted to be the one person who actually bothers to sit and listen to every story Sesa has to say, which is implied to come down to her simpleness letting her just take in everything he says without question.
  • Elemental Weapon: Her Arts essentially boils down to binding elemental Arts "enchantments" to each of her weapons, empowering them with traits like ice, flame, and stone. It's notable that these enchantments seem to have a mind of their own, as they can instinctively choose weapons to bind to and adjust theirselves based on said weapon.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: She's innocent, kind, young-looking, and has blonde hair.
  • Hot Blade: The knives in her skill 2 are on fire.
  • Image Song: "Solitary Journey". It applies to the entire Stories of Afternoon event she was released with, but the song itself is associated with Ceobe specifically.
  • Improvised Weapon:
    • Her module is a loaf of stale bread, which she wields as a weapon because the bread told her it considers itself as one.
    • In Kay's Daily Doodles, she once detects Ethan's cloaked presence without identifying him when he tries to sneak some snacks from her plate, leading her to instinctively grab some cutlery, charge them with her arts, then flick them at him.
  • Intoxication Ensues: The backdrop of "Ceobe's Fungimist" is that during "Gavial the Great Chief" story event, Ceobe gets hungry when she's wandering Acahualla's rainforest separated from the others and decides to eat some Magic Mushroom. She proceeds to spent most of the event in Mushroom Samba-inducted rampage, while her mind travels through her past Walking the Earth experiences.
  • I Work Alone: Her Elite 2 talent Lone Journey gives her an ATK and ASPD buff when there are no allies adjacent to her. To emphasize this, her text doesn't read 'operator of [x]' after her name.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: Her targeting priority is determined by her skill, and only happens when the skill's active. Her first skill Really Cold Axe emphasizes unblocked targets, while her 2nd skill Really Hot Knives emphasizes high-DEF targets like Steward. However, it's her 3rd skill Really Heavy Spear that's special: her damage type is changed to physical and instead she's now targeting enemies with least armor, making her, at least for a time when the skill's active, the only physical Caster as of her release. She had since been given company in this department, in the form of Tomimi, who more reliably outputs Physical damage than her, but lacks her utility and range.
  • Mushroom Samba: She's on a very long one for the entire duration of "Gavial: The Great Chief Returns", after taking a bite out of an exotic local mushroom and inadvertently creating much of the more outlandish side mechanics of the event in the process. Ceobe disappears and reappears at several points throughout the entire event, still high as a kite. It took several slaps from Gavial for her to regain her senses, and her hallucinations are the entire setting for the Ceobe's Fungimist game mode.
  • Mysterious Past: While it is known that Ceobe was wandering all over Terra for some time trying to find Minos, very little is known of what exactly she was doing before that, and why exactly she wields a Minoan axe that bears her name, which Vulcan has pointed out is an extreme rarity in Minos. And if the various events in Ceobe's Fungimist are actually dredged from her memories, she has seen a lot of Terra, potentially including events of such obscurity that no normal person should have any way of even being aware they exist, as well as ones that are so significant that the higher-ups of entire nations actively make an effort to cover them up.
  • Mythical Motifs: The Cerberus. As such, she also has a Numerological Motif of 3: she boasts about being able to hit three targets in her original flavor text, her attacks can specialize into three different targeting priorities, her skills have multipliers of 3 when fully maxed note  and her birthday is even 3/3, to name a few.
  • No One Should Survive That!: Ceobe has very significant Oripathy to the point where it's considered a miracle that she's been able to move around as long as she has.
  • No Sense of Direction: Ceobe is from Bolivar, and she wants to go to Minos to know more about her ax. She was found by Rhodes Island in Leithania. Based on Terra's world map, this means Ceobe missed her destination for at least three nation-states.
  • No Social Skills: Living so detached from society has left her somewhat illiterate and more than a bit socially inept. Sometimes, she still behaves in a way more befitting of a savage or a pet, although she's making strides towards improving.
  • Once More, with Clarity: Her Operator Record, "XXL Honey Biscuit", shows her perspective of her interactions with Gummy in "Habits" (Gummy's side story in Children of Ursus), including how she and Vulcan made the large cookie she gave to Gummy.
  • Ornamental Weapon: Out of all the weapons in her Walking Armory, the sheathed sword on her back is the only one that goes unused. Needless to say, some of the other weapons (barring her Magic Staff) that she carries into battle become this trope when she is not equipped with the corresponding skill.
  • Parental Substitute: The Doctor, Lava, Hibiscus, and Vulcan end up becoming her unofficial guardians.
  • Percent Damage Attack: Ceobe's Talent 1 gives her attacks additional Arts damage proportional to a percentage of the enemy's DEF (25% base, 40% at E2, up to 75% with the full ramp-up from her Module). While this is practically fluff in normal gameplay, especially when fighting low-DEF enemies, it really allows her to shine during later Contingency Contract seasons, where your own operators will be nerfed into the ground while the enemy is significantly beefed-up. As this bonus damage isn't lowered by any modifier, Ceobe will actually deal obscene levels of damage when the enemy receives DEF buffs irrespective of her own ATK.
  • Power Nullifier: While her S3 Really Heavy Spear is active, Ceobe's attacks will seal the abilities of whatever she hits for up to 5 seconds.
  • Security Blanket: Her weapons. The people she trusts most are distinguished by her willingness to completely set down her weapons around them.
  • Situational Sword:
    • Her third skill "Really Heavy Spear" massively boosts her ATK, increases her range, and turns her attacks physical and able to silence enemies. While this sounds great on paper, she also prioritizes enemies with the lowest DEF, which runs counterintuitive to her Thresher talent, and while being able to deal physical damage is unique, you're better off just bringing an actual Sniper unless the situation specifically calls for a unit that deals consistent Arts damage but can switch to physical (an extreme rarity) or long-ranged, continous Silence. As a result, her second skill "Really Hot Knives" is widely considered to be the best skill to use, as it fully synergizes with Thresher.
    • Her first skill should not be written off either, as it can serve as an anti-Wraith measure.
  • Super-Strength:
    • Despite being a caster (and a very short one at that), Ceobe is noted to have exceptional physical strength and almost inhuman endurance which allowed her to wander the world for an unspecified period of time while suffering from advanced Oripathy; when first found, she managed to fight on par with a Rhodes Island reserve team while fatigued and hungry. In Gavial the Great Chief Returns, she plows through everything that gets in her way without her Arts, escapes Tomimi's tribe trying to tie her up, and manages to outrun just about everyone sent to capture her.
    • This also makes sense when one considers the large Wall of Weapons she carries with her, even in her summer skin. Her back must be very strong too, and since all of her skills involve her switching weapons at a drop of a hat... however, she notably finds Rusthammer weapons too heavy to carry around as she finds one of their hammers on an expedition with Sesa and Dur-nar, only to later throw it away because she didn't like its weight.
  • Talking Weapon:
    • Her module story reveals that she can "hear" weapons "talk" and discern their desires. The exact basis and significance of this is unknown, but it serves as the basis for her unique Originium Arts.
    • During her unique monthly squad conversation in Integrated Strategies 2, she picks up the rusted-over sledgehammer of the Rusthammers and hears its desire to 'destroy all mobile cities'. She doesn't keep the rusted hammer since it was to bulky and awkward for her to carry around.
  • Team Pet: Due to her childish and naive personality, coupled with her tendency to behave like an actual playful puppy, Ceobe fills this role in whatever team she's assigned to. She's even regularly fed snacks to by Rhodes Island staff, making her their unofficial pet.
  • Throwing Your Sword Always Works: All of her skill attacks are her basically lobbing her enchanted weapons at enemies. For this trope, it's her 2nd skill, though technically knives instead of swords.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Honey cakes, though only the ones made by Lava, Matterhorn, or Vulcan. Honey cakes made by anyone else would be a no-go. This is another reference to the Cerberus, who also liked honey cakes, which is why people would place them in graves for the deceased to gain access to the underworld.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Ceobe's Arts is very potent, presumably due to her Elder lineage as a Cerberus Perro, despite her not having the foggiest idea what it actually is.
  • Walking Armory: Ceobe carries spears, knives, swords, an axe, and her staff into battle, all at once.
  • Walking the Earth: This was how she lived before Rhodes Island took her in. On a quest to discover the meaning behind her first weapon - an axe with her name on it - Ceobe wandered Terra for a long time, living a solitary life far from the reaches of most civilization. Unfortunately, this has made her Oripathy quite severe, as she had gone a long time untreated.
  • Wall of Weapons: She loves collecting weapons and is always interested in expanding her arsenal. This is actually a symptom of her Oripathy, which gives her an uncontrollable urge to collect weapons to use as catalysts for her Arts and therefore grow more powerful. While this urge has led her to violence more than once in the past, Rhodes Island's treatment of her Oripathy has somewhat mitigated this aggressive side of her, although her interest in weapons still persists.
  • Younger Than They Look: She looks positively taller than Amiya (who is 14), but she is a child and regularly hangs out with Bubbles and Popukar (both of whom are children).

"'Sup everyone, this is the Click Channel! Eh? I'm not allowed to take footage of the Doctor's office? Fine..."

An independent internet video producer who specializes in wildlife videography, working at Rhodes Island for financial reasons.

  • Animal Motifs: White mice.
  • Crazy-Prepared: As an outdoor videographer in a Crapsack World ravaged by all manner of disasters, it's borderline mandatory that Click goes into every job with an array of knowledge and preparation for any possible situation.
  • Drone Deployer: Played with.
    • While Click doesn't have her drone as a separate deployable unit like that of Silence or Magallan, it stays with her on her character sprite and can attack enemies in her range independently.
    • Upon reaching Elite 1, whenever Click and her drone attacks the same enemy, the drone's damage will increase up to 110% of har ATK. This is helped by her Coordinated talent, which buffs their ASPD by 6 (12 at Elite 2).
    • With her second skill, Synchronized Attack, she temporarily releases the drone to independently hunt down enemies.
  • Furry Reminder: Befitting of her Animal Motif, she has an irrational fear of Felines. However, this seems to only apply to more intimidating ones, and the extent of this is just her thinking that they look scary.
  • Gathering Steam: Her Float unit will gradually gain ATK as it continuously attacks one target. This bonus resets once it changes target.
  • Punny Name: "Click", as in a mouse click.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Played with. Her eyes are blue in her initial art, but are red (thus making her albinistic, like white mice often are) in her Elite 2 artwork. Her archive files and dialogue in Twilight of Wolumonde state that her eyes are normally blue, but instinctively turn red when she's under emotional stress. While her eyes are red, she's a lot more aggressive than usual, and this curiously doesn't seem to be an Oripathy-related trait.

"Hello there, Doctor. Raythean Industries liaison, Corroserum. I'm sure you saw the relevant contracts and forms, despite your busy schedule. Now then, do share any upcoming workflow arrangements."

An assistant director from Raythean's experimental prototype engineering section, specializing in corrosive weaponry.

  • Animal Motifs: Snakes, per his race. Given the presence of bands on his tail, it is more specifically the king cobra, which is reinforced by the fact that cobras are seen in his E2 art.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Corroserum is capable of finishing virtually any task and meeting virtually any quota at breakneck speed, but will also never voluntarily do anything beyond his assigned work. This is in part due to Raythean never giving him a chance to put his strengths to the fullest, as they'd often either make him leap through countless redundancies or intentionally degrade products for the sake of planned obsolescence.
  • Late Character Syndrome: The first of Corroserum's problems in comparison to Ifrit. Corroserum was added to the game two years after launch, whereas Ifrit has been there since the beginning and was, until Corroserum's introduction, the game's sole example of a Blast Caster. By the time Corroserum debuted, most long-term players would have already acquired and built up his predecessor.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: The second of Corroserum's problems in comparison to Ifrit. Even for players who hadn't already acquired and built Ifrit before getting Corroserum, the former is simply straight-up better than the latter, even accounting for the difference in rarity. While Ifrit's combination of high damage and debuffs allows her to absolutely annihilate anything that enters her range, Corroserum's abilities are a lot more situational, and he isn't even significantly cheaper than Ifrit to compensate. Once a player manages to get their hands on Ifrit, Corroserum becomes effectively obsolete.
  • Motor Mouth: His voice lines show that he talks a lot.
  • Power Nullifier: His second skill allows him to Silence enemies he hits.

"We can save each other the trouble of introducing ourselves, and I'll treat this contract as a token of you approving how we cooperate. Can I get back to work now, Doctor?"

A former member of Glasgow who eventually joined Rhodes Island.

  • Becoming the Mask: While she was originally sent into Norport as a spy for the Duke of Windermere, Delphine enjoyed her time with the Glasgow Gang so much that she still considers herself part of Glasgow over being the new Duke of Windermere.
  • Coat Cape: Her overcoat, which was a final gift from her parents who believed their daughter would have been taller than she turned out to be, ended up several sizes too big for their daughter in the present. She wears it over her shoulders as a cape instead to not let hinder her movements and still honor the memory of her parents.
  • Disappeared Dad: It's revealed that her father passed away due to illness many years ago, though she suspects foul play was involved.
  • I Choose to Stay: After the conclusion of the Londinium Incident, Delphine decides to stay in Londinium with her friends in Glasgow Gang to help rebuild Norport rather than return right away to her homeland to take up her rightful place as the new Duke of Windermere.
  • Ornamental Weapon: She carries two swords along with what looks like a mechanical scabbard, but as a Caster, she doesn't actually use them to strike enemies. She does use the one in her hand to "cast" her attacks.
  • Really Royalty Reveal: While she was a member of Glasgow, she kept secret the fact that she is actually the Duke of Windermere's daughter.
  • Situational Sword: Her second talent only activates if she's fielded in Episode 13, causing her to deal bonus damage to Sarkaz enemies and store an extra charge that can only be used against them.
  • Storm of Blades: Her attacks are visually represented by ethereal blue swords that she slings at enemies.
  • Tragic Keepsake:
    • "The Happy Windermere Family!", a collection of postcards that Delphine collected throughout her childhood, showing the days when she and her parents lived a happy life together before they both eventually died. It serves as Episode 13's milestone reward system, and is how Delphine and her potentials are obtained.
    • One of the swords she carries used to be the one her mother wielded.
  • You Are in Command Now: Subverted. After the Duke of Windermere is killed by the Sanguinarch, her army quickly abandons Delphine despite her being the Duke's heir and retreats back to their home territory.

"Hello? Hellooooo? Can you hear me? Down here. Down heeeeere! Nice meeting you, big Doctor. I'm Durin the Caster."

A narcoleptic and tremendously lazy Durin who serves as a caster for Op Team A4.

  • A Dog Named "Dog": She's a Durin named... Durin. According to Myrtle, who is also a Durin, she's simply too lazy to come up with anything else to pick as a codename. This makes Myrtle worried that people are probably going to confuse her race with the Operator and assume Myrtle is Durin's subordinate.
  • Big Eater: Deceptively so. While she doesn't look like she'd eat much, she scarfs down huge meals when she actually does, after which she goes to find a napping spot.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: She's noted to have great magical aptitude, but her laziness and narcolepsy means she sleeps through most of the day instead of actually training herself. It's no wonder why she's stuck being a 2-star.
  • Bullet Dodges You: Her Lucky Lass talent gives her a 50% chance to dodge Arts damage. Due to this, she was picked by many doctors to act as a distraction for the Rat King, who will often target her with his global Arts sand due to her low HP.
  • Delicate and Sickly: She suffers from a congenital disease that leaves her body more fragile than that of a regular Durin, which explains why she always has so little energy that she sleeps all the time.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: Thanks to her Arts, she can use "the power of earth".
  • Emotionless Girl: Played with. While Durin always speaks in a slurry monotone, it's more because she's too knackered to put in the effort than anything. In fact, some of her quotes might even qualify her as a Deadpan Snarker.
  • Fragile Speedster: Her small stature allows her to occasionally dodge Arts attacks fired at her. She will still feel it if they do hit, though.
  • Image Song: "A Grand Adventure". Shared with Myrtle.
  • Impractically Fancy Outfit: Her coat sleeves are longer than her arms.
  • Lazy Bum: Her favorite pastime is sleeping, and she even has a rare Dormitory effect where she gains less Morale than everyone else as she's too busy sleeping to feel better.
  • Little People: She's as short as a dwarf, a characteristic shared by those of the Durin race.
  • Mundane Utility: Her uniform is too large for her small body, but she finds it advantageous as a sheet when she sleeps.
  • Orwellian Retcon: Her deployment line was initially translated as "What a pain in the A", despite her Japanese voice not being cut-off; after her English voice lines were added, it was changed to "What a pain."
  • Sleepyhead: She's narcoleptic despite having more hours of sleep than most operators.
  • The Sneaky Gal: In-story only. Durin takes advantage of her short height to launch "surprise attacks", her archive file even calls this as her Modus Operandi. In gameplay terms, this translates into her talent, which gives her 50% Arts evasion.
  • Starter Mon: TR-5 gives her as a first-clear reward.
  • Token Mini-Moe: Of Team A4.

"Oh? Doctor? Another contract? Very well, please don't bother me again after I sign this one. Here... I should tell you here and now: I, Dusk, do not give out my paintings. Not to anyone. And I don't take commissions!"

A mysterious woman with an unearthly talent for art, capable of creating artificial life and even whole worlds with her paintings.

  • Achilles' Heel: Like her sister Nian, she's not only afraid of firecrackers, but her painted worlds at the least seem to be outright vulnerable to them. They're used to scare off her painted creations, and Nian takes advantage of this during their fight, using huge two-stage firecrackers to blow her dreamlike painting worlds into oblivion.
  • Actually a Good Idea: Dusk comments that she actually likes the modified title, "Scene of Crude Mounts Utmost Risen", the head monk gave to her painting gift.
  • Alien Geometries: The appearance of her quarters always seems to be different every time someone visits it, and it is definitely Bigger on the Inside. Or the door to her room might just outright be a portal to another realm. In her debut event, Nian comments that Lava's group should've figured out how Dusk's cottage wasn't normal simply by the sheer volume of paintings she's managed to store in it.
  • Aloof Ally: While Dusk will fight alongside Rhodes Island, she refuses to do any other work around the ship and spends most of her time inside the strange otherworldy place connected to the doors she paints in the hallways. Other Operators have a hard time making friends with her, and the few she does connect with only pulled it off by sharing books, poetry, and movies with her to break the ice. A few of her later trust lines indicate that the Doctor has managed to win her over enough that she'll share food with them. A big part of her distance seems to be that she just doesn't care anymore about the outside world.
  • Ambiguously Gay: It's not entirely clear if her relationship with Dawn was romantic or platonic. They were certainly extremely close, to the point that after Dawn's death Dusk retreated into her scroll and refused to leave, and created an entire world where she and a copy of Dawn were the only ones aware of the real nature of the painted reality.
  • Anime Hair: While her hair looks pretty normal, the end of the strands tend to float and flutter like cloud.
  • The Anti-Nihilist: At maximum trust, Dusk will admit to the Doctor that, unlike Nian, she is not concerned with her potential "death" if the Yen god she was splintered from returns, as the art she creates will continue to live on even after her "death". On the other hand, she is worried that like the people in her paintings, she will stop existing if the ever sleeps, which is why she has somehow managed to stay awake for over a century.
  • Anomalous Art: Most of her painting tends to be this way. During "Who Is Real" she creates a world inside a painting scroll where night and day are based on where one is standing in the village depicted in the scroll. The people within said village will completely revert in both their physical bodies and memories when any visitors sleep, and monsters from the night side of the scroll will appear whenever Dusk herself gets angry or frustrated.
  • Arc Villainess: She is the closest thing to a villain in "Who Is Real," as she is responsible for sending the various painting monsters into the village whenever she gets frustrated or upset. Later on she imprisons Lava, Kroos, and Mr. Nothing in a Lotus-Eater Machine when they figure out what is going on in the painting scroll. When Nian confronts her face-to-face, Dusk's painting beasts serve as the Final Boss of the event. However, Dusk never actually hurts anyone who is actually real and she finally relents when Nian gets through to her, and eventually joins Rhodes Island.
  • Art Initiates Life: Her entire schtick. It's mentioned that she tends to create "Biteys" the most often because they're manifestations of her creative frustration while working. Her module discusses the first life form she created, which as a dragon that she named "Free." In Rhodes Island, she doesn't actually have a room because she refuses to have one; she simply paints a door in a random hallway on the ship, and the door connects to a space that she can freely change into anything on a whim.
  • Author Tract: The stories her disguise tells tend to be about painters and their artist's woe.
  • BFS: The sword she carries is massive enough that she can balance on top of it in her E2. She doesn't use it directly in combat to strike her enemies. Instead, Dusk sheathes it in a scabbard full of ink and then swings it in flourishes to spread ink around the battlefield to create her artwork.
  • Bizarre Taste in Food: According to Nian, Dusk tends to make "silly dishes like Metal Crab ice cream pot". She can also create her own food with her painting, but it has no taste since it can't be directly see once someone eats it.
  • Buffy Speak: All of the Ink Spirits were named by Dusk, which are mainly just very basic descriptions of their functions like "Bitey", "Smarty", "Stabby", "Angry", "Lazy", and "Fury". Her module mentions that the very first ink creation she made was named "Free" because that was all she wanted.
  • Cool Sword: Like her sister Nian, she's a swordswoman; unlike her sister, she uses a solid sword resembling an upsized Chinese Jian. Hers resembles the vaunted Sword of Goujian. However, she doesn't use it to slash enemies apart as per her class; instead she swings it around and releases blasts of ink to deal damage.
  • Didn't See That Coming: Dusk is flummoxed at how Saga manages to casually escape her dream painting at the end of Who is Real, as the others needed Nian to pull them out, whereas Saga not only figures out the nature of the painting but took everything in stride too.
  • Discard and Draw: As a villain in Who Is Real she is able to imprison people for decades in her painting scrolls and summon entire armies of ink monsters, including colossal dragons. Once she joins Rhodes Island, she trades that power in for direct damage attacks and summoning stationary minions.
  • Dragons Are Divine: As with the rest of the Sui siblings, she has Eastern-style draconic motifs, and is part of an immortal Yan dragon god that was shattered in the past.
  • Everyone Is Jesus in Purgatory: Explicitly discussed in-universe between her and Saga. Saga has long pondered the meaning of Dusk's painting given to the head monk, wondering why its waterfall was an unfinished brushstroke and has decided that the waterfall left unfinished must represent the greater scenery that cannot be put into art. Dusk counters that the viewer must come to their own conclusion on art without needing to ask the creator and it simply was a brushstroke she didn't want to finish since it looked fine to her that way.
  • Fourth-Wall Observer: Played with.
    • Due to her nature as Reality Warper painter, she views reality as just another painting scroll, being no different than the life she has created inside her painting.
Dusk: The roads you've trodden, the people you've met, their births and deaths, and their setbacks in life. All of these things might merely be events drawn at the whim of an artist without any particular meaning assigned.
Dusk: The so-called reality that you people spend an entire lifetime looking for is yet another fantasy.
Dusk: We are merely characters in a scroll. The viewers see the events that transpire in the painting and either applaud or criticize its contents.
    • In fact, Nian implies this viewpoint of reality is part of the reason why she is The Insomniac. If no one is observing something, then how real is it? And if she is no longer observing the world, does it stop existing, or could Dusk herself stop existing? This possibility frightens her so much that Dusk hasn't slept for a century.
  • Gathering Steam: Her talent lets her gain stacks of 2% ATK each whenever she or her summon kills an enemy. This means she will only reach her full strength when late in battle, not when it's starting. Furthermore, while this can stack up to 15 (or 18, if she has the potentials) times, killing any enemy that is not The Goomba 15 times in quick succession is harder for her archetype than you may expect due to their slow ASPD. Thus, this talent will be mostly fluff in the bulk of the content.
  • Gilded Cage: Her painted worlds tend to be highly idyllic, but are near impossible to escape from and eventually muddle a person's perception of reality and self if they stay in it for too long, until they truly feel like they belong in the painting and spend the rest of their days there. Saga being able to survive in one of them for 10 years while still clearly remembering her past is considered a monumental feat.
  • Horned Humanoid: Like her sister, Nian, Dusk has a pair of dragon-like horns emerging from her head. Coupled with her cloud-like hair, the turquoise coloration around her forearms and hands, and her long serpentine tail, and she has more than a few resemblances to Chinese dragons.
  • Image Song: “Till the Wave Ends”. Shares the theme with Nian.
  • The Insomniac: Implied by Nian, due to her fear that she'll disappear if she ever wakes up from her sleep. Outright confirmed in Invitation to Wine, where Nian says that Dusk has spent over a century awake and hiding in her scrolls out of fear of the original god awakening while she sleeps and Dusk vanishing as a result.
  • Lotus-Eater Machine: Her painting can send people into whatever place she wants. While she tend to make tranquil places with no notable sorrow and friendly locals, in "Who is Real", Dusk ends up sending the protagonists into nightmarish situations they'll going to repeat forever, if not for Nian's Big Damn Heroes. The end of the event reveals that P'o-Shan Village is this to her; she could not cope with Dawn's death and trapped herself inside her own painted world where Dawn can live forever unchanging.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: Her S3 allows her to summon minions in her attack range every time she attacks, turning her into a psuedo-summoner type operator.
  • Mind Screw: The exact nature of Dusk's reality warping abilities are so incomprehensible that not even Dusk herself can adequately explain how they work to a regular mortal. While she maintains that everything she paints is fake and doesn't actually exist, people can still physically interact with objects she creates. Another odd quirk of her power is that if a person does not witness her painting an object, they cannot perceive or be affected by that object, since what she painted never actually existed. One of her trust lines indicates that while food she paints is edible, it has no taste the moment it is eaten because one can't perceive it anymore when it enters the mouth.
  • Mirror Match: She can be put in the event level where she features as a boss.
  • Morphic Resonance: Her disguise inside her painted P'o-Shan Village, the Umbrella-Boiling Hermit, still has her greenish-black hair, bright red eyes, and sharp ears.
  • Moveset Clone: Her second skill is notably similar to Gitano's second skill, but it increases damage against those on half HP, and does not have a self-stun afterwards. It has half of Gitano's SP cost, but also half of its duration.
  • Mythical Motifs: She's based on the Dusk Beast, a variant of Nian that only appear during dusk and similarly frightened off by fireworks. It is said to resemble a dragon but with only four legs and no serpentine body.
  • Pet the Dog: The end of her event reveals that she rescued the starving Dawn from the ruins of P'o-Shan Village and took care of her until she died of old age. After she passed, Dusk recreated P'o-Shan Village the way Dawn wants it, made Dawn a shopkeeper like her childhood dream, and made sure the Ink Spirits would never attack her unlike the other villagers.
  • Pieces of God: Like her siblings, Dusk is part of a broken Feranmut, an ancient Terran god. Specifically, she's part of the Yan god named Sui.
  • Power Floats: She floats when activating her second skill, and in her E2 art she is standing on her sword while it is floating.
  • Reality Warper: Her powers allow her to create paintings that can draw people into their own secluded worlds, which allows her to effectively create pocket dimensions where every aspect of their design is up to Dusk's decision. Since it's possible to "wake up" from a painting with enough willpower or self-awareness, it's unknown whether her abilities are rooted in true dimension warping, psychological manipulation, or both.
  • Rule of Perception: Her painting functions on this. If you close your eyes before she starts painting, none of it is real and won't affect you. But if your eyes are open the moment she starts her work, the painting is as real as anything else.
  • The Slacker: She doesn't really do any sort of work outside of painting, and she only paints when she has a particular inspiration or creative surge. She explicitly refuses to do any Operator-related duties outside of helping in combat and keeps to her pocket dimension most of the time.
  • Starving Artist: Like Nian, Dusk doesn't really have a job per se and is technically homeless, especially since she's singularly focused on her art. Unlike Nian, though, Dusk is more than happy to set up her residence at Rhodes Island. Her Reality Warper abilities also mean that Dusk doesn't really need any source of income, as she can paint anything she needs, from food to housing.
  • Temporary Online Content: Like her sister Nian, Dusk is a limited-time operator and can only be recruited from specific seasonal banners.
  • The Unfought: She appears in the last stage of Who is Real alongside her familiar Free, but she can't be attacked, nor will she do anything except stand there idly. She'll leave right after Free has been taken out.
  • Very Loosely Based on a True Story: In "Who is Real", it is revealed that Yen fairy tale "Dusk Beauty Flying to the Moon" is actually about her, with key differences; her lover was a woman, their separation was because of death of old age and sickness, and she climbed the mountain so she could trap herself inside a painting where they can be together forever. It is also implied that the story was spread by Dusk herself.
  • Wilfully Weak: Like Nian, Dusk doesn't use the full extent of her powers, which includes the ability to seal others away in painted worlds or summoning hordes of minions. It isn't clear precisely why, though it is implied that Dusk is vastly more powerful if she is inside one of her paintings.
  • Wrong Context Magic: Like Nian, Dusk's ability to warp reality with her art has no basis in Arts or Originium theories and rules, which only confounds the scientists assigned to study her abilities even further.
  • Year Inside, Hour Outside: Time passes much faster in her painted worlds than it does in real life.
  • Your Days Are Numbered: Like Nian, Dusk is well aware that Sui, the god that she and her siblings were created from, will inevitably be resurrected, meaning they and all their siblings will cease to exist. However, unlike Nian, Dusk accepted this fate for some time and hid herself away in her painted worlds until the time came. After Nian forced her out of her most recent hideout, Dusk has slowly started to become more active and willing to resist Sui's return.

"I extend my sincere gratitude to you, Doctor of Rhodes Island. Thank you for sheltering an insignificant down-and-outer. If such mediocrity as even mine can benefit Rhodes Island's cause, then I couldn't be more relieved."

The young Graf Urtica and one of the last surviving descendants of the infamous Witch King, admitted to Rhodes Island after contracting Oripathy in the aftermath of an incident in the town of Vyseheim.

  • Abdicate the Throne: By the end of "Lingering Echoes", he is considered officially dead, with the Twin Empresses acknowledging him as no longer a threat to their rule. Considering Ebenholz never had any desire for the throne to begin with, he has no complaints.
  • Action Bomb: His second skill, when activated, consumes all of his stored charges to summon a number of shadowy goat minions proportional to how many charges he consumed. Enemies that approach the shadows will make them detonate to deal massive Arts damage around them and pull all struck targets into themselves.
  • Affectionate Gesture to the Head: Receives one from the Witch King in "Zwillingstürme Im Herbst" when he confronted the Witch King in his own Pocket Dimension, which blindsided Ebenholz.
  • All for Nothing: Ultimately, the Voice of Terra experiments Ebonholz suffered ended in failure, as there was never a guarantee they would work in the first place. The Voice of Terra was simply some music pieces the Witch King left behind, which his followers desperately tried to exploit to revive him. However, the melody simply was not compatible with most subjects and it's acknowledged that even if it were to fully take over Ebenholz, he would only have a fraction of the power of the original Witch King. Expanded further with "Zwillingstürme Im Herbst" confirming that the Voice of Terra, while containing some of the Witch King's essence, cannot be used to bring him back.
  • Aristocrats Are Evil: Due to his upbringing, Ebenholz has an extremely low opinion of the Leithanien aristocracy despite being a noble himself, often seeing them as dishonest and petty backstabbers who have no interest in helping Leithania's common folk and willing to do anything to hold on to their power. He even voices that he has more respect for spies like Biegler, because at least they lie for a good cause.
  • Blatant Lies:
"You'd like to see Leithanien, you say? Heh, it's a fine place. The Empresses regard their subjects like their own children, the healthy regard the Infected as brethren, the faces of the people brim with blessing—lies? That's true, they are lies. Contemplate visiting Leithanien again once you can sit through the whole spiel with a straight face." (Talk 1)
    • To a lesser extent, his initial profile states his background being a Leithanien commoner. It's not until he hits 100 trust to unlock his second archive file that the truth of his lineage is revealed, and that the official document stating him as a commoner was part of the Twin Empresses' acknowledgement of Ebenholz giving up his position as Graf Urtica.
  • Blessed with Suck: As a result of the experiments done on him by the Witch King's fanatics, Ebenholz became highly proficient with musical talent and gained very potent Arts powers, but it came with painful headaches and a voice whispering in his head.
  • Breaking Old Trends: As of Chapter 13's release, he is the first and so far only operator with a third Module, MSC-Δ (Delta)note . The module allows Ebenholz to inflict Necrosis Elemental damage to enemies, which is particularly notable as he's the only allied source of Elemental damage that isn't from a branch specifically designed for it (Ritualist and Primal Caster).
  • Brown Note: Drives off the sewer Originium slugs by playing his flute in "Lingering Echoes". Czerny notes that the music he played was a manifestation of the Voice of Terra sealed in him, which even the Originium slugs found too "ear-bleeding" to listen to. Ebenholz himself described it as an unpleasant "screeching" melody.
  • But Now I Must Go: "Zwillingstürme Im Herbst" opens with Ebenholz resigning from Rhodes Island to return to Leithanien, following the summons of one of the Twin Empresses. At the conclusion of the event he opts to stay in Urtica and rules it properly with the help of Lessing, and it is implied that the remaining Empress wanted him as her successor.
  • Crippling Overspecialization: With his extra charge from his Talent and the attack bonus from Sound of Silence, Ebenholz has nearly unmatched one-hit burst potential against Elite or Boss level enemies. However, to do so he must completely ignore all lower tier enemies and be careful not to waste his charges on the wrong target, making him practically useless against the majority of enemies on stages.
  • Cursed with Awesome: After contracting Oripathy from carrying Kreide's corpse, he sees his infection as this, noting how the Arts he wielded became much easier to control.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: As a child, he was secreted away by the Witch King's supporters and experimented on, having the Voice of Terra implanted into him. He was subsequently rescued by Leithanian authorities, but was installed as the figurehead ruler of Urtica, where he was hated and reviled by his caretakers who plotted his downfall by turning him into The Alcoholic as soon as he came of age, so they could get rid of him without it being traced back to them.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Despite his manner of dress and his Arts being derived from the powers of the Witch King, he is a heroic and caring, albeit rather aloof, person.
  • Deadly Scratch: At the start of "Lingering Echoes," Ebenholz did not have Oripathy. He most likely contracted the disease by cutting his hand on one of the shards of active Originium protruding from Kriede's body as he cradled Kriede during his last moments; if wasn't already Infected by then, getting more cuts on his arms and chest as he carried Kriede's corpse into the Afterglow Hall to seal it away definitely did the trick.
  • Deadpan Snarker: His Promotion Record reveals he has become this to the Voice of Terra, as he no longer fears it and constantly mocks it as an "old fart". His general dialogue is also brimming with sarcasm and blunt remarks.
"I'll be your assistant today, Doctor... I will disclaim. I have absolutely no secretarial experience. Thus, so I'm not hindering you, I will be doing nothing at all." - when appointed as Assistant
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Ebenholz was initially very standoffish with people at Rhodes Island, with the exception of the Doctor and a few other operators. He began to open up to people after his first field mission, where he helped rescue a dozen children from a poorly-kept orphanage.
  • Enemy Within: As a descendant of the Witch King, the King's zealots implanted a "melody" within Ebenholz's mind which serves as an extension of his will. Although it blesses him with unnatural musical and Arts talents, he still has to contend with splitting headaches and a disembodied Evil Overlord whispering in his mind, as well as the possible risk of the melody of the Witch King consuming him outright.
  • Expy: His tall and thin character design along with his purple eyes are reminiscent of Lelouch Lamperouge.
  • Faking the Dead: After Ebenholz joins Rhodes Island, the Leithanian government files an official death certificate for his true identity as Graf Urtica, while at the same time legally recognizing his current alias as Ebenholz.
  • Foreign Cuss Word: In the story blurb of Ebenholz' first module, he cursed at a former noble trying to be a kiss-ass so he can return being a noble again, in German.
    "Fick der Graf Urtica."
    "?!"
"Fick all die Kaiser, fick all die Kurfürsten, die Herzöge, die Grafen, die Barone—as well as you, Herr Knappe, or should I say, Herr Ex-Knappe."
  • Gentleman Snarker: He is very much a gentleman, and has no issues with expressing his biting opinion on Leithanian high society.
  • Girl in the Tower: Male version. His voice line for watching Battle Records mentions that he was never allowed to leave the Urtica Spire, even for something like buying video tapes.
  • Gratuitous German: He occasionally drops some German words and phrases in his English dubbed voiceline.
"Gah! Hinfort aus meinen Kopf! (Away from my head!)" (In Battle 4)
  • Hearing Voices: Once in a while, Ebenholz hears the voice of the Witch King trying to take over him. After "Zwillingstürme Im Herbst" the voices stop once Ebenholz decided that he will take up the mantle of the Count of Urtica and be a proper ruler.
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: His first Promotion line has him wonder and doubt if the Doctor gets him Promoted because they are genuinely impressed with his skills or if it's because of the blood of the Witch King that runs in his veins.
  • I Am Not My Father: At the conclusion of "Zwillingstürme Im Herbst", he decided to return to Urtica and rules it properly with help from Lessing, to prove that he is a better monarch than the Witch King.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: Ebenholz yearned for a life as a normal person, having become tired of all the expectations and behind-the-curtains scheming that came with his position as the Count of Urtica (see Dark and Troubled Past above). His wish finally came true when he was admitted to Rhodes Island as a patient, with the Leithanien government declaring the Count of Urtica dead and giving him a false background as a civilian.
Ebenholz: There'll always be a cohort eager to associate me with the previous Graf Urtica. I can't blame them though, I simply wish to live as a regular Infected.
  • Image Song: "Ständchen".
  • Line-of-Sight Name: Ebenholz is an alias he came up with on the spot when auditioning for Czerny's concert in Vyseheim, inspired by the piano on stage at the time. The man signing him up for the audition even lampshades it.
  • Magic Wand: Uses one along with a set of Originium dice to cast Arts, being part of his inheritance as some of the Witch King's most prized possessions. His second module shows another set of wand and energy reserve that he custom ordered from Rhodes Island Engineering as a way to try and distance himself from memories of the events in "Lingering Echoes", before giving up and going back to his old equipment.
  • Master of All: Musically, he's said to be able to freely play and master any instrument imaginable, both as a result of his education and the Witch King's "voice" in his mind lending him his expertise. He used to play the flute as his main instrument, but now favors the cello as a Due to the Dead to his late friend Kreide, a cellist who fell to the Witch King's melody.
  • Meaningful Name: "Ebenholz" is German for "ebony", which matches his black hair and clothing and complements Kreide ('chalk'). Subverted in the fact that Ebenholz had to come up with an alias on the spot and the first thing that came to his mind was an ebony piano nearby.
  • Musical Assassin: A master of Leithanien Arts, which are cast through music and manifest as musical symbols.
  • One-Hit Kill: Mystic Casters already specialize in this with their massive base ATK, but with Ebenholz's extra charge and bonus damage from his talents, and the further buffs and multipliers from his S3, he's capable of some of the highest, if not the highest damage per shot in the game. If he turns a fully stacked S3 against a target without a lot of RES and HP, it will almost certainly be vaporized - and with some buffs and debuffs to help him, even those enemies can often be one-shotted as well.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: As mentioned above, 'Ebenholz' is an alias, and his title of Graf Urtica just refers to the domain that he was nominally the lord of. His real name Franz was finally revealed later on when Lessing mentioned him by name upon joining Rhodes Island.
  • Pretty Boy: Ebenholz is a very handsome musician.
  • Puppet King: He was this prior to "Lingering Echoes".
  • Really Royalty Reveal: While it's obvious that he is a noble, many people don't actually know he is one of the Witch King's last living descendants, which actually makes him the legitimate ruler of Leithania.
  • Ruling Family Massacre: The Witch King was so hated that when he was overthrown, angry mobs throughout the country mobilized to hunt down his relatives and descendants. As a result, Ebenholz's parents were killed during the chaos. What few extended family he had left were subsequently killed off in experiments performed by the Witch King's followers trying to resurrect him.
  • Sins of Our Fathers: Ebenholz experienced hatred and distrust since a young age due to his ancestor being the tyrannical Witch King who terrorized Leithania for decades.
  • Situational Sword:
    • His first talent allows him to store an extra charge compared to most other Mystic Casters, but this charge can only be used against Elite or Boss enemies.
    • His third skill takes it up a notch by increasing his ATK, ASPD, and damage dealt from his charged attacks, but also making him outright refuse to attack any enemy that isn't an Elite or Boss.
    • His second talent causes his attacks to deal an additional burst of Arts damage if the target has no other enemies surrounding them. Getting his second module upgrades this by making it so that if there are enemies around the target, the bonus damage is exchanged for Splash Damage.
  • Sole Survivor: Following Kreide's death in "Lingering Echoes", he is the only one left of the fifteen children subjected to the Voice of Terra experiments as well as the last known descendant of the Witch King.
  • Spoiled Brat: Averted. He dresses the part and is often very standoffish, which makes many characters have this impression of him at first, with Czerny even accusing him of showing off at Kreide's expense during his early auditions. But Ebenholz is closer to Modest Royalty as he pays no heed to class distinctions, helps Kreide by giving him a chance to audition ahead of others and gives him financial support after hearing about his grandfather's condition, and scathingly gives a "The Reason You Suck" Speech to the clerk of an instrument store who attempted to bar Kreide's entry off the impression that he was a commoner from his clothing, putting his own cloak over Kreide and stating that they were thus dressed the same. He also despises his highborn roots as his relation to the Witch King led him to be ostracized by his subjects, who secretly plotted to depose him.
  • Tall, Dark, and Handsome: He's tall, has a dark color scheme, and is very good-looking.
  • Tall, Dark, and Snarky: He's also possessed of a biting wit that comes out whenever he's speaking about people or things he dislikes.
  • This Looks Like a Job for Aquaman:
    • Ebenholz's burst comes in the form of charges which build up when he isn't attacking anything, which is fairly impractical in general content, but really shines against bosses with invincibility periods that give him time to prepare a fully charged shot that nukes them right after. In particular, the boss of Episode 11, the Last Steam Knight is notorious for having several periods of invulnerability when it takes enough damage in both of its phases, often wasting the uptime of the skills of powerful DPS operators like Surtr, Mlynar, and Pozemka. Ebenholz, on the other hand, can easily build up charges during these periods, which combined with the potent attack buff from his S3, allows him to take the boss down faster than the usual fare.
    • His extreme emphasis on packing all of his damage into a single shot also comes in handy against bosses that have abilities that trigger at fixed health thresholds like the Pursuer, Andoain, or the aforementioned Steam Knight. After all, they can't make use of those thresholds if Ebenholz's shot skips past several of them at once, much less if he empties their entire health bar in a single hit.
  • Tragic Keepsake:
    • The cello he uses was bought for his friend Kreide, which he took back after the latter's death.
    • The description of the Irregular Clothing Rack furniture item also hints at this, being a white jacket that has never been worn next to a black jacket that looks similar to the one Ebenholz wears. At the end of "Lingering Echoes", Kreide apologized for ruining the suit as he was being consumed by the Voice of Terra, and Ebenholz replied that he can buy Kreide as many suits as he wanted.
    • His Potential Token is the very coin he painstakingly drilled a hole into to turn it into a pendant, as a gift for Kreide at his request.

Eyjafjalla, Caster Operator of Rhodes Island, has wanted to devote herself to doing something for you.
Rarity: ★★★★★★
ID: No. 180
Subclass: Core
Tags: DPS, Debuff
Skills: Duetto, Ignition, Volcano
Talents: Pyrobreath, Wildfire
Affiliation: Leithanien
Race: Caprinae
Birthday: October 18
Height: 145cm

"I'm Eyjafjalla. My career before joining Rhodes Island was in the field of volcanology. I'm a bit hard of hearing due to my Oripathy. I just hope I won't be a burden to you, Professor."

A young volcanologist and Catastrophe Messenger renowned for her tremendous expertise despite her young age. She's stationed at Rhodes Island for treatment of her Oripathy, which has already impaired her hearing and vision.

  • Animal Motifs: Sheep, due to her Caprinae race. They even appear alongside Eyja in her Elite 2 artwork.
  • Action Initiative: Her second talent Wildfire gives her a random number of Skill Points upon deployment, which will often let her fire off a skill nearly the moment she enters the field.
  • Badass Adorable: Eyjafjalla is a small and cute young lady, capable of melting down the toughest foes with extremely potent fire magic.
  • Call a Smeerp a "Rabbit": Though she calls the creatures accompanying her as "little black sheep" and they have the same physiological makeup as normal animals, Rhodes Island is very suspicious about what they really are, given their intelligence in attending to Eyjafjalla's every need, their implicit stealth capabilities, and their ridiculously high temperatures.
  • Casting Gag: Eyja, who is voiced by Risa Taneda, calls you (the Doctor) her "senpai" and even comments that calling you senpai should be the most natural thing in the world. We can't begin to imagine why she might say that.
  • Conveniently an Orphan: She lost her parents in a volcanic incident. However, one of her mom's students suspects that their deaths were not accidental, and says as much to his acquaintance Barty.
(Kahn's letter to Barty) After Professor Naumann's accident, I've been struggling to uncover the cause of the tragedy... I have difficulty believing that a top volcanologist, along with her husband who was skilled in Originium Arts, could die in such an unremarkable volcanic incident. Their research had already attracted too much attention. The truth was not the only thing on their journey of discovery. There were those who sought to exploit the fruits of their labor, and there were others yet who sought to forever bury those findings beneath the flow of volcanic debris.
  • Deceased Parents Are the Best: She mentions fond memories of her parents in her second Operator Record.
Eyjafjalla: I understood why before every expedition, my mom would squeeze into bed with me and hug me tight, until I fell asleep. I understood why after every expedition, my dad would pat my head while sifting through his data, talking over and over about how grateful he was.
  • Delicate and Sickly:
    • The case of Oripathy she's suffering from is severe, and her overall condition is the second-worst after Ifrit... and because of Ifrit's unusual state of being, in practical terms she's the most ill of the Oripathy-suffering Operators by a huge margin.
    • The level of Originium crystals in her blood is devastatingly high (only Ifrit has higher, and just barely) and without Rhodes Island's aid, it seems likely that her cell assimilation rate would be a lot higher than its current 8% (and what cell assimilation has occurred has already played havoc on her natural hearing). Eyja herself doesn't let this get her down, though.
    • Her Oripathy has impaired her hearing, to the point where she asks other to repeat themselves in a louder voice. In order to communicate, she has to resort to body language or a hearing aid.
    • According to Kal'tsit, Eyja is also slowly losing her vision due to Oripathy, and her Operator Records show that it's also somewhat impairing her motor skills.
    • Interestingly, her skin reveals that there aren't any crystals visible on her body (they may be in places that are not visible on the skin art though, such as the back), hinting that the entirety of her illness may be fully internalized as opposed to visible on the surface.
  • Generation Xerox: Her parents died when they were conducting studies near a volcano, so Eyja decided to become a volcanologist like them to continue their research.
  • Handicapped Badass: She has one of the most severe cases of Oripathy in the game, which left her near-deaf and on the verge of blindness. But she's still considered an S-tier Caster, capable of melting a mob of enemies in an instant.
  • Image Song: "A Sweet Render-vous."
  • "Instant Death" Radius: When her S3 Volcano is active, she will very quickly melt almost anything that gets inside her increased radius.
  • Location Theme Naming: Her codename is a reference to the volcano Eyjafjallajökull. She's also a volcanologist, and her third skill is named "Volcano".
  • Magikarp Power: Likewise with SilverAsh, Eyja is one of the premier units to pull due to the sheer damage she can do once she is promoted to Elite 2. Her third skill, Volcano, increases her attack, attack speed, range, and the amount of enemy units she can target for a limited time, meaning she could easily melt basically anything that comes to her range, including bosses. Her second skill, Ignition, is no slouch either and can be used if one opts for more consistent damage. At Mastery 1 (which you can unlock at E2), this skill gains another charge, which means you'll suddenly deal a lot more damage simply because you can store 3 charges instead of 2. This causes there to be a somwhat bigger gap between skill level 7 and Mastery 1 and is an indirect form of this trope.
  • Magma Man: Her fire powers circle more around this than actual fire, fitting for a volcanologist.
  • Making a Splash: Her Coral Coast outfit replaces her fire magic with water magic.
  • Named After Somebody Famous: She is named after Heinrich Edmund Naumann, a German geologist with a similar backstory as her.
  • Older Than She Looks: Despite her appearance, she is 20 years old. Making it likely that her stunted growth is due to her worsening Oripathy, she also enrolled in a university and she became one of the leading researchers in volcanology and a Catastrophe Messenger (on top of being a highly proficient caster to boot).
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: An inversion for Casters in a similar case to Bagpipe for Vanguards, where instead of Eyjafjalla being overshadowed, Eyjafjalla is the one doing the overshadowing when it comes to Casters. She's cheaper than most Casters at a DP Cost of 22 at Elite 2, her second skill comes up fast and can hold charges (so she isn't wasting time when there are no enemies) and does great pseudo-AoE damage with a useful debuff, and her third skill can be cast quickly upon her first deployment thanks to her talent and can obliterate anything in her widened range that isn't resistant to Arts. Due to these combination of factors, most Casters look bad period (especially Splash Casters- the only other Casters that are considered to be good are Goldenglow, Ceobe and Ifrit, who all have an innate way of ignoring RES with Passenger, Amiya, Dusk and Lin being fringe options who fall into their own niche) when in reality they only look bad compared to Eyjafjalla.
  • Playing with Fire: All of Eyja's abilities revolve around fire manipulation, but in a different manner than Ifrit.
  • Plucky Girl: Despite having one of the worse cases of Oripathy among the playable operators, Eyja remains cheerful, hardworking, and positive despite her circumstances, and is determined to make as much progress in her field as possible before she succumbs to her disease.
  • Power Floats: Eyja hovers off of the ground when using her third skill.
  • Splash Damage Abuse: Her second skill Ignition causes her next attack to deal massively boosted damage and explode to deal half of that damage to all enemies in the areanote  while temporarily decreasing the RES of the primary target. Because of its fast charge time, ability to store charges, and huge consistent damage output, this ability often lets Eyja mimic the function of an AoE caster despite being a single-target one.
  • Status Buff: Her first talent Pyrobreath buffs the ATK of all casters on the field with her, including herself.
  • Super-Senses: Despite her impaired hearing and vision, she has an uncanny ability to sense heat, which lets her sense her surroundings by evaluating subtle changes in temperature. She's so in tune with this sixth sense that in her Operator Record, she's able to shoot down a falling boulder before her guide and Rhodes Island escort can react, due to her sensing the heat from the friction from the wind scraping against stone causing a rock formation to break.

Skills: Tactical Chant β, Destiny
Talents: Divination
Affiliation: Sami
Race: Elafia
Birthday: January 15
Height: 171cm

"Following the guidance of the arcana, I've finally managed to cross paths with you, Doctor."

A fortune teller from Sami who specializes in divination and card playing.

  • Animal Motifs: Reindeer, due to her Elafia race. Notably, however, she's the only Elafia operator who don't have antlers, while other operators and NPCs of the same race do.
  • Cleavage Window: Her outfit exposes the top of her chest.
  • Crystal Ball: Carries one made out of Originium that also functions as her Arts Unit. Her profile mentions it has a certain risk of backlash, which in-game manifests as the self-stun on her second skill.
  • Death or Glory Attack: Her S2 Destiny is basically this. It greatly expands her area of attack, amps up her damage, and causes her talismans to hit every enemy within her range at once. She also becomes temporarily stunned for several seconds after it expires, so either the enemy dies first or she does.
  • Dreaming of Things to Come: Yet another one of her advices – dreams can enlighten a person, but only if they remember every detail in it.
  • Fantasy Counterpart Culture: She is named for the Gitano people who were travelers who lived around Spain. They are typically associated with mysticism, tarot cards, and fortune telling.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: In both of her artworks, her leggings do not even match, especially in her Elite 2 artwork. Her "Unknown Journey" skin has different anklets on each side.
  • Fortune Teller: Gitano reads tarot cards for a hobby, and actually uses her crystal ball to predict the outcomes of her next sorties. If they fail or the player has to retreat, she will bemoan the inaccuracy of her predictions.
  • It's All My Fault: She feels guilt over lying to her tribe about receiving a divination for her tribe to travel south escape a blizzard while her brother insisted he can stop the blizzard by traveling north to fight the Collapsals. Not only did this cause a schism between the siblings which resulted in them going their separate ways, but the tribe was arguably worse off traveling south than if they had stayed, especially after Eikthyrnir revealed the blizzard was successfully stopped.
  • Posthumous Sibling: She makes a cameo appearance in "The Black Forest Wills A Dream" when she visits her Sami tribe due to receiving portents of her brother's death. He's already dead by the time she arrives, but she makes it just in time for his funeral.
  • Practical Currency: She accepts fruits and cakes in exchange for her divination services.
  • Random Effect Spell: Gitano's Divination talent makes her potentially very strong if she rolls an ATK or ASPD buff upon activation. The catch is, whichever buff she receives is chosen at random every time she's deployed, so if it lands on an HP buff instead of the aforementioned two, Gitano suddenly becomes far less effective than she would have otherwise been. The only way to change the received buff is to retreat and then redeploy her, which wouldn't be terribly cost-effective considering her high price as an AoE Caster, and it could very well just land on the HP buff again.
  • Serious Business: Playing cards. She's fiercely competitive to the point that no one will allow her to shuffle the deck because they think she'll cheat, and even still she knows a lot of tricks.
  • Tarot Motifs: She reads the cards during her battle lines:
    • The tower of void.
    • The flying chariot.
    • Break the Emperor's scepter.
    • The Priestess will destroy all.
  • These Are Things Man Was Not Meant to Know: She states this in her Elite 2 promotion line, with a dash of You Can't Fight Fate.
You want to know... your destiny, Doctor? Too bad, I can't help you. My mission is not to show you the secrets not meant for human eyes.
  • You Can't Fight Fate: She gives this kind advice after her first promotion. But her second promotion and trust lines subvert this trope instead, by saying that one can change fate due to endless possibilities.

Talents: Beacons' Wrath, Precise Redirection
Affiliation: Victorian Empire
Race: Feline
Birthday: January 7
Height: 159cm

"Finally made it here... nice to meet you, Doctor. I'm a new Operator onboard, Goldenglow. I look forward to working under you."

An aspiring Victorian hairdresser who was infected with Oripathy that grants her uncontrollable electric powers. She joined Rhodes Island for safety and support after a series of dangerous events in the city of Celadon.

  • Action Bomb: When her skills are active, her drones will have a chance to launch themselves into enemies and explode with every attack, dealing massive Arts damage in an area.
    • The game describes it as a 10% chance, which is an example of Guide Dang It!, because this is actually a representation of its average chance over time. Goldenglow works with certain stacks, which can't be seen but are integral in her kit.note  If a drone (each drone has its own 'pity counter') has not exploded at 40 stacks (attacks), then it will explode at the 41st attack, after which it'll start all over again, no matter if it's still targeting the same enemy or not.
    • This is the reason why certain buffs that make her a Spam Attack user can massively ramp up the chance of this talent activating much more often than it's actually supposed to.
  • Almighty Janitor: She's just a hairdresser trying to get by and make ends meet. Her file even introduces her as a Logistics operator first and foremost whose primary workplace is Rhodes' own hairsalon and isn't fielded on the same basis that a dedicated combat operator is. She just happens to have uncontrollable Shock and Awe Arts, which somehow makes her a 6-star operator capable of massive destruction even when she herself is rendered immobile.
  • Animal Motifs: Cats, specifically the Scottish Fold. Many players assumed her to be a Perro due to her folded ears, until the full art of her E2 showed that she's actually a Feline.
  • Armor-Piercing Attack: Her Elite 2 Talent causes her attacks and drones to ignore 15-18 RES, making her one of the rare sources of flat RES penetration in the game.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Goldenglow is a nice albeit shy individual with rather low self-esteem, but it's also best not to push her buttons and test her patience and kindness. To wit, she nearly killed the corrupt Victorian noble responsible for burning her salon down and only stopped herself from actually killing him due to Quercus snapping her out of her rage.
  • Death of a Thousand Cuts: She has one of the lowest ATK values in the game, a mere 331 at E2 lvl 90. However, she attacks quickly with multi-hit attacks and can pierce a bit of her enemies' RES. Unusually, this also means enemy RES affects her much less compared to other Casters.
  • Disappeared Dad: Her father passed away around five years before the events of A Light Spark in Darkness.
  • Disappointed by the Motive: She finds Count Bishmer's petty desire to make some more cash and build an entire conspiracy around it by exploiting the Infected to be so disgustingly shallow that she hits her peak in anger and tries to kill him.
  • Driven to Suicide: After her salon was burned down less than a day after she bought it with her life savings, Goldenglow fell into such deep depression that she would have killed herself by jumping off a building if Haze hadn't been there to talk her out of it.
  • Early-Bird Cameo:
    • Although not mentioned by name, she was alluded to in Ayerscarpe's file as a "little Victorian hairstylist" with electric powers whom he would often ask to shock him, long before Goldenglow as released or even teased.
    • In the Global server, the update that brought the Invitation to Wine event silently added Goldenglow as a Temporary Recruitment in Phantom and Crimson Solitaire, allowing players to try her out at full power in that mode.
  • Fantastic Racism: In Celadon, she was repeatedly attacked and beaten by mobs of protesters due to her Oripathy.
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: Goldenglow has utterly low self-esteem due to being on the receiving end of Fantastic Racism due to her Oripathy, and it's reflected in some of her voice lines where she wonders if she is fit for the job or being able to help the squad if chosen and brought to a stage.
Goldenglow (When added to a squad): Is there really a use for me on the front?
  • Image Song: "Spark For Dream."
  • Massive Numbered Siblings: The Glitter family has nine children total, with Goldenglow being the sixth child.
  • Meaningful Name: Her Promotion Record reveals that Quercus based Susie's codename on the moment she unleashed her Arts on Bishmer.
"I came up with the codename Goldenglow off the top of my head that day. I suppose you're wondering what her fair, pale looks have to do with a 'golden glow' though."
"I thought about it carefully, and I think, it was probably the sight of Susie that evening, crackling all over. Left quite an impression on me."
"It really was the first time I'd seen such... wrath."
"A sort of unloading, a kind of hurt, a kind of sorrow."
  • Mistaken for Dog: Out-of-universe example; her design is based on the Scottish Fold, a cat famous for having folded ears. However, since Perro (people who take after real-world dogs) also have the folded/floppy ear design and folded ears on a cat are rare, fans initially mistook Goldenglow for a Perro.
  • Power Incontinence: She's not immune to her own electricity. In some of her voiced lines, she yelps when she accidentally zaps herself while working with her Arts Unit. She has to avoid contact with electrical appliances to avoid her Arts shorting them out, and runs the risk of electrocuting people that approach her.
  • Rage Breaking Point: In "A Light Spark in Darkness", Goldenglow hits this once she learned that her salon was burned down by a corrupt Victorian noble who wanted to drive away his competition and get some cash out of the mess, and frame the infected to hide his misdeeds. When she meets him, she finally snaps and unleashes her electrical arts on him, coming close to actually killing the man until Quercus snapped her out of it.
  • She Knows Too Much: In "A Light Spark in Darkness", Goldenglow was captured and was nearly killed by the hired goons of Count Bishmer because she found out about their plans. Fortunately for Goldenglow, Red was able to rescue her before they could actually kill her.
  • Shock and Awe: She generates electricity, though not voluntarily so.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Her real name, Susie, is the name of the very first Scottish Fold cat discovered.
    • Her constant pain due to not being immune to her own powers mirrors the real condition of the Scottish Fold cats, who are always in pain due to the genetic mutation that causes their ears to flop. The CN community believes that the 'STOP' and 'DANGER: KEEP OUT' signs in her Elite 2 art are a hidden message to stop breeding these cats.
    • Her codename comes from Golden Glow, an Australian veterinary pharmaceutical company that once produced the medicine to ease Scottish Folds' bone diseases (specifically glucosamine sulfate). Whether this medicine is legit is still debated.
  • Trauma Conga Line: "A Light Spark in Darkness" details Susie's backstory. She moved to Caladon to finance her ill family back at home, but was faced with Fantastic Racism over her Oripathy. She found work in Quercus's bar and painstakingly saved up money for years, eventually achieving her dream of buying the bar and opening up her own salon. Not even a day later, her salon was burned down due to hired goons chasing Haze, driving Susie to the point where she came close to killing herself if not for Haze's help. Then she happened to overhear a plan from said goons attempting to bomb a place and was captured and beaten due to the fact that she knew too much of their plans. She later learned that her salon was burned down because the culprits were hired by a Victorian noble who wanted to make a quick buck and frame the infected to hide his crimes. It's no wonder that Susie hits her Rage Breaking Point at the end of it all.
  • Unseen No More: So infamous for this that she spawned a meme. She was teased on the First Anniversary Livestream alongside Thorns, Saga, Archetto, Mountain and Surtr. Whereas all of these operators were released in relatively short order before the start of the 2nd anniversary, Goldenglow remained under wraps for about two years excepting a small mention in Ayerscarpe's files, finally making her debut about three months before the start of the 3rd anniversary.
  • Walking Techbane: Due to the Power Incontinence of her own electrical arts, she may accidentally zap people and electrical appliances. Chapter 4 of "Rhodes Kitchen", featuring Goldenglow, demonstrates that when she loses control of her electrical Arts, the electrical Ice Cream Maker that she tried to use got fried by the resulting surge of energy. She's perfectly fine using non-electrically-powered devices, as she was able to successfully whip up a fresh serving of ice cream using a hand-cranked ice cream mixer.

"H-Hi. My name is Greyy. I'm kind of an electrician... Erm, th-thanks for taking me on...!"

A young Rhodes Island caster versed in electric Arts, serving as an electrician of sorts.

  • Animal Motifs: Dogs. While his name suggests he was based on greyhounds, his ears are those of beagles. Note that the actual Beagle operator's ears are very hard to see.
  • Animal Theme Naming: His name is derived from the Greyhound dog.
  • Conveniently an Orphan: When Greyy lost his parents, he found another meaning in life by working at Rhodes Island.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: Something he shares with Ansel.
  • The Engineer: Greyy is an electrician who works for the power supply maintenance of Rhodes Island. From his conversations, it's implied that he's been doing the job for a long while, such as routinely giving cables for Kal'tsit, fixing current anomalies in Mayer's storeroom, power outages in Ifrit's room, etc...
  • Primal Fear: The fear of darkness gets discussed in his Trust lines.
I decided to learn electric Arts just so my friends back in the slums could have some light, just so the nights would be a little less miserable... That pitch black, it's really scary. And the kinds of people who live in the dark, they can be scary too...
  • Shared Family Quirks: He is introverted and practical like his father, and he is physically weak like his mother.
  • Shock and Awe: His whole skillset is based around electricity. His Magic Staff even has a lightbulb on top of it.
  • Status Effects: Greyy has the "Slow" tag attached to his name because of the Electrostatic Field talent, which reduces the target's movement speed for 0.4 seconds at Elite 1 (0.6 seconds at Elite 2). His S2 Electrostatic Discharge helps with this: on top of increasing his ASPD by 35, it also increases the duration of his talent's Slow by 1.5 times at Skill Level 1.
