Nightmare, Caster Operator of Rhodes Island, will provide help with her Originium Arts, no matter which personality is in at the moment.
Rarity: ★★★★★
ID: No. 164
Subclass: Core
Tags: DPS, Healing, Slow
Skills: Drain Soul, Night Phantom
Talents: Dual Personality
Affiliation: Victorian Empire
Race: Feline
Birthday: June 1
Height: 156cm

"I'm Nightmare... Aah, that's a code name. My real name is Gloria. But, if you don't mind, I'd rather you call me that... I think my code name... is kind of scary..."

A Victorian Oripathy patient suffering from multiple personality disordernote  caused by her illness.

  • Alternate Identity Amnesia: Nightmare holds different memories than Gloria does. This causes Gloria, while knowing that her alter exists and trying to keep her in line, to not remember the things that Nightmare does.
  • Artistic Licence Medicine: She suffers from 'Multiple Personality Disorder' as per her in-game files, while its modern (and often preferred by patients') name is 'Dissociative Identity Disorder'.
  • Balance Buff: The 21 April 2020 update on the Chinese server increased her second skill's damage. Notably, she's one of very few operators that's been directly buffed in update patches.
  • Cat Girl: As a member of the Feline race, she has cat ears.
  • Combat Medic: Downplayed. Her first skill, Drain Soul makes it such that each attack restores the HP of one Ally (two at mastery 1 or higher) for a percentage of Nightmare's attack upon activationnote , ranging from 40% to 100% depending on the skill's level. While the skill remains active for a long time and lets her heal quite a lot the skill's high SP cost means it won't be activated more than once or twice in most battles.
  • Jekyll & Hyde: She suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder. On the one hand, we have the girl known as Gloria, who's kind and meek. On the other, there's Nightmare, which is ruthless and brutal. Based on psychic evaluations done by Dr. Kal'stit, it appears that Nightmare is the dominant personality, though neither of her selves seem to be able to fully dominate the other. Perfumer's aromatherapy helped get her condition better under control.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: Due to her split personality, Nightmare plays a bit like two separate operators mashed into one. See Stance System below for details.
  • Mysterious Past: As people who suffer from Dissociative Identity Disorder always have had a repeated trauma when they were young, one could guess there is something going on in her past. Considering her alter is violent, it is possible it is simply born out of a need for defense she could not have back then. It is stated in her files that, before joining Rhodes Island, she has had at least 6 months of combat experience. She may have been a Child Soldier, and Nightmare split off to cope with it.
  • No-Sell: Manticore's line mentioned that for some reason her powers doesn't affect Nightmare.
  • Religious and Mythological Theme Naming: Her alter and the source of her codename comes from demonic entities called mares, that rode on people's chests while they slept, causing bad dreams on the victim. Mares were said to be people who were unknowing of their nightly endeavors (mirroring her Alternate Identity Amnesia) and were identified as being mares by their differently colored eyes.
  • Situational Sword: Her second skill, Night Phantom, is very devastating against fast-moving enemies, and even beefy ones such as Defenders or Butchers. However, the Nightmare debuff requires the victim to be moving to take effect, which means it does nothing if the target is being blocked or rendered immobile. This makes her good at softening incoming enemies up for someone else to finish off, but highly unreliable when used as a main DPS Caster.
    • An example event where this skill does fit is Invitation to Wine, since the enemies in that event split into unblockable enemies if they die.
  • Split Personality: Suffers from it, as per her Dissociative Identity Disorder.
  • Stance System: Upon reaching Elite 1, Nightmare will unlock her Dual Personality talent which grants one of two buffs when deployed based on her chosen skill. If Drain Soul is chosen, Nightmare gains Physical and Arts evasion. If Night Phantom is selected, she will gain an ATK buff instead. This is a bout of Gameplay and Story Integration, as one can choose whether to bring Gloria or her alter Nightmare into combat.
  • Status Effects: Her Night Phantom skill lets her inflict her unique Nightmare debuff, which slows enemies and deals damage based on how far said enemies move. Notably, the slow effect stacks with the regular slow debuff, making enemies hit with both essentially sit still.

Engineering Operator Passenger, thunderous punisher of enemies.
Rarity: ★★★★★★
ID: No. 472
Subclass: Chain
Tags: DPS
Skills: Touch of Static, Focus Command, Glorious Shards
Talents: Mechanism Analysis, Lone Soldier
Affiliation: Sargon
Race: Liberi
Birthday: September 1
Height: 187cm

"Your Operator, Passenger. I have been looking forward to the day I work with you, Doctor; we will together enjoy this journey."

A mysterious Sargon engineering genius and black market kingpin with an eccentric temperament and ambiguous goals.

  • Affably Evil: 'Evil' may be too strong of a word for him, but Passenger is among the most morally and ethically dubious of Rhodes Island's Operators, being The Unfettered and having a history of vengeance-driven murder. His 4-star victory line suggests his subservience to the Doctor's command is the only thing keeping him from using his most powerful weapons to utterly lay waste to Rhodes Island's enemies. Despite this, he is also among the most polite and respectful Operators in dialogue, and follows all commands given to him without complaint.
    • He's extremely polite and even gives a declaration of friendship to your tribe in the Fire Within the Sands event, but he's really just manipulating everyone to kill the Lord Ameer before he leaves without a care about the chaotic and deadly aftermath.
  • Alpha Strike: His Mechanism Analysis talent causes him to deal significantly increased damage for a few seconds if his target is above a certain HP threshold. Combined with his third skill, this encourages him to blast a full-health target with everything he's got the moment they enter his range, in order to maximize his damage.
  • Animal Motifs: Based on the long extinct Passenger pigeons, hence his codename. He is the third to be based off an extinct animal, after Texas and Lappland.
  • Anti-Hero: Despite his extremely bloody history, shady backgrounds, and willingness to kill and threaten his enemies, he's relatively well-spoken and docile in everyday life now that he isn't consumed by revenge, and his quest in the first place had righteous intentions. He also seems to dislike unnecessary killing, only targeting those he sees as deserving punishment; to that end, he's never been confirmed to have killed any innocent bystanders in his revenge-driven quest, although he certainly isn't above coercing and manipulating them into doing his dirty work.
  • Bolt of Divine Retribution:
    • His flavor text says he will punish his foes with lightning, and he frequently mentions bringing retribution on those who do ill towards him or his allies.
    • His third skill, Glorious Shards, has him summon a thunder storm to bombard enemies with lightning bolts.
  • Breaking Old Trends: Of a sort. Prior to Passenger's debut, all of the male 6-star Operators released have an unusual tendency of being classed as only Guards or Specialists, having very low class variety compared to the female 6-star Operators. Passenger is the first male 6-star to not follow this trend, instead being classed as a Caster. Later released 6-star male characters such as Gnosis and Lumen would follow in his footsteps.
  • Child Prodigy: In his Columbian youth, he skipped grades and graduated with excellent scores at the age of thirteen.
  • The Chessmaster: Is noted to have been the puppetmaster behind the vast majority of armed conflicts in the Ibut region of Sargon, using his vast influence and power in the black market. Fire Within the Sand gives us a closer look at this, where Passenger stirs up conflict and manipulates a multitude of Sargon tribes into assassinating the local Lord Ameer, before slipping away once the tribes start fighting over the power vacuum.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Fire Within the Sand shows a glimpse of Passenger's revenge quest as the Sand Soldier from the perspective of a local Sargonian chief.
  • Dissonant Serenity: Unlike his younger self, Passenger is a very calm and calculated young man, even in dire situations, but this doesn't fully hide his anger and frustration at what happened in his past.
  • Due to the Dead: When he was young, he was forced to leave his dead mentor buried in an Ibut village as he escaped with Kal'tsit, lamenting that he couldn't cremate him. Many years later, he killed the last of his targets for vengeance in a fire that consumed that very same village. When Sesa questions why he needed to burn down a village to kill one man (especially because he made sure to leave civilians time to evacuate first), Passenger merely cites it as a "long-overdue cremation".
  • The Engineer: Passenger has crafted many Arts-powered machines and inventions.
  • Fluffy the Terrible: The young man once known as Elliot Glover grew up to be a lethally dangerous practitioner of lightning arts and invented many deadly war machines to lay waste to all who stand in his way. And what callsign did the former Columbian prodigy chose when enlisting himself into Rhodes Island? Why it's..."Passenger".
  • Friend in the Black Market: He was known as the "Sand Soldier", leader of one of many black market organizations in the Ibut region of Sargon.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: An interesting case for him. In his debut event, A Walk in the Dust, all of the event operations, aside from minor present day cutscenes, take place in the past, in Sargon (or in the case of WD-8 and WD-EX8, Victoria), with Passenger's story role pertaining to the former, where he is a young boy named Elliot. Even though he is "present" (in a sense) during the operations themselves, there is nothing stopping you from deploying his playable adult self during battle, even though he is supposed to be a young boy at the time. Played straight in Fire Within the Sand, where you can deploy Passenger on missions where you can also talk to his past self as the Sand Soldier.
  • I Choose to Stay: At the end of WD-7, Kal'tsit offers Elliot to accompany her on her journey, following Elliot's self-inflicted Oripathy. He declines however, instead opting to stay behind in Sargon in order to fulfill a personal quest of revenge for the late Professor Thorne. This also explains why he is absent from the Ursus and Victoria portion of the "A Walk in the Dust" story event, which chronologically happens five and nine years later, respectively.
  • I Hate Past Me: Passenger describes his life as "Elliot Glover" in a very positive manner during one of his Trust lines. He also notes that his past self would likely detest himself in the present.
Passenger: Elliot? How do you... Hm. Elliot. His parents gone before their time, his one beloved, esteemed teacher dead in Sargon, the work which bore his faith but a stepping stone in someone else's conspiracy. To this day, he is bereft of anything. Elliot Glover is merely a laughable life lived.
Passenger: (to Kal'tsit) Time has warped me so much, transforming me into a man my past self would have hated.
  • Image Song: "Gearing Up".
  • Lightning Gun: Okay, more like "Lightning Turret", but it's still effectively a large gun that shoots weaponized electricity at targets.
  • Long-Range Fighter: The standard modus operandi as a Caster, but his second talent Lone Soldier gives him a small attack boost (and an SP regen buff with his X module) if there are no enemies in the four adjacent tiles, with his cane wreathed in electricity when the buff is active, encouraging him to snipe enemies before they get too close.
  • Magikarp Power: Even with his skills fully mastered, Passenger's prowess isn't too impressive until you unlock his module to greatly improve his performance, and upgrading it just makes him even better.
  • My Future Self and Me: A variant with his "Epoque: Dream in a Moment" skin where Passenger and his younger self talk to each other about the events that shaped and led to the present Passenger.
  • Non-Action Guy: As young Elliot, he does not partake in battle, with Kal'tsit doing the fighting instead. Subverted in adulthood as Passenger.
  • Parental Abandonment: Elliot Glover's parents were "gone before their time".
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: After the incident that killed his teacher, a young Elliot decided to stay in Sargon, after which he spent twenty years building a massive amount of wealth, reputation, and power for the sole purpose of killing all those involved in the incident over those two decades, including members of the Sargon royalty. By his own words, by the time he joins Rhodes Island, he's succeeded.
  • Significant Birth Date: His birthday is September 1st, as it was the day that the last passenger pigeon died.
  • Shock and Awe: His arts manifests as electricity.note
    • His first skill, Touch of Static, causes his next attack to deal stronger damage and slow effect, and (at Elite 1 or below) jump up to four enemies at once.
    • His second skill, Focus Command, extends his attack range by one row, along with increasing his attack speed while providing a small damage boost. His attacks now chain up to five enemies instead of three/four during the skill duration. This skill synergizes well with his class's trait, allowing him to take up the role of a pseudo-Slow Supporter by applying consistent multitarget slow against groups of enemies.
    • His third skill, Glorious Shards, will make Passenger seek out the enemy with the highest HP percentage within a wide areanote  and place a lightning storm on themnote . For 4 seconds, enemies within the lightning storm will randomly be struck with lightning bolts every half secondnote . When factoring in the wide targeting range and the storm range, this skill notably grants Passenger the second-highest effective skill range of the ranged operators, behind Ambriel with her Skill 2.
  • The Turret Master: His standard method of attack is via a mechanical turret powered by his Arts, which can shoot electrical shots at enemies.
  • The Unfettered: When it came to his quest for revenge, he spared no expense and showed no mercy, brutally murdering every last person who had wronged him and manipulating entire warring factions for his benefit without any sign of remorse. It's also implied that he would be far harsher (and likely more inhumane) towards his enemies if Rhodes Island wasn't there to hold him back.
  • Vague Age: As is the case of Schwarz and Ceylon before him, his age in the present day is not explicitly stated, but small tidbits can be inferred from the context of the story. His archive files stated that he graduated when he was thirteen. Three years later, he became a research assistant of Professor Thorne to work on a sort of project in Sargon, only to vanish for 20 to 22 years following the death of his professor, then reappeared to join the ranks of Rhodes Island by the present. This indicates that the playable Passenger we know now is at least 33 to 35 years old.
  • Vengeance Feels Empty: After successfully killing every last person involved in the conspiracy that killed his teacher, he found himself devoid of purpose in his life, leading him to apply to Rhodes Island in an attempt to both find a new purpose and to meet Kal'tsit again. In fact, he instantly discarded every last bit of what he had built up over the last 20 years and relinquished all his possessions to Rhodes Island in exchange for letting him join, seeing no purpose in all the power and wealth he had acquired now that his quest for revenge was complete.
  • Willfully Weak: His 4-star win quote implies that he's restricting his choices of weaponry to adhere to Rhodes Island's moral standards, and that he could make their missions easier if the Doctor allows him to use his "more extreme methods".

Electrical engineer Pudding, putting in assiduous work as Closure's assistant in the Engineering Department.
Rarity: ★★★★
ID: No. 4004

Skills: Tactical Chant β, Diffusing Current
Talents: Electromagnetic Wave
Affiliation: Columbia
Race: Aegir
Birthday: December 21
Height: 156cm

"Hello, I'm an electrical engineer from Columbia, codename... Well, Closure suddenly started calling me 'Pudding', but I don't know if that's too weird..."

  • Animal Motifs: Seals, as shown through her plush seal Pillow, her whisker-like facial markings, and more subtly in how the shape of her hair resembles a seal's round, stout body.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: She stands out as kind of an oddball among the engineering staff, what with the way she always carries a plush toy around with her and has a tent set up inside the department for her to rest in. Despite this, she's a skilled electrical engineer who played a vital role in helping Closure overhaul and improve Rhodes Island's infrastructure, and the rest of the department have plenty of respect for her for all the hard work she puts in so they can carry out their experiments.
  • The Engineer: Naturally, as part of the Engineering Department. While she doesn't come up with her own inventions, she is very adept at finding ways to improve other people's work.
  • Girls Love Stuffed Animals: She brings a plush seal named Pillow with her wherever she goes. Her parents got it for her to cheer her up when she was feeling lonely after their move to Columbia, and she still cherishes and looks after it to this day.
  • Hyper-Competent Sidekick: Pudding is particularly notable for being personally picked by Closure be her assistant. This has proved fortunate, because Pudding is one of the few people who is able to decipher Closure's scattered, random ideas and reorganize them into a format that can be easily understood and implemented in a practical fashion. It's noted that thanks to her work, she has been able to improve the efficiency of the landship's power generation by a whopping 12%.
  • I'm Taking Her Home with Me!: Closure personally handpicked her to be her assistant, and dragged her off to the engineering department right after Rhodes Island accepted her application. And considering that Pudding's callsign started out as Closure's Affectionate Nickname for her, it seems like part of the reason she chose her is just because she finds her adorable.
  • The Shut-In: While she can interact with other people just fine, there was a period of time after she joined Rhodes Island where she refused to leave the landship due to the trauma she experienced when she was accidentally infected by Oripathy.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: Her hair is a light pink colour, and she's widely regarded as one of the sweetest, most loveable members of the engineering department.

From a Sami tribe comes Operator Qanipalaat, taking his first steps into outside lands.
Rarity: ★★★★★
ID: No. 466
Subclass: Core
Tags: DPS, Crowd Control
Skills: Frigid Wind, Falling Snow
Talents: Tundra Survival
Affiliation: Sami
Race: Vulpo
Birthday: December 12
Height: 169 cm

I forgot to ask the Perro man what I should call you. I only learned the word "company" from the Columbians. Do you have a name? Oh, just "Doctor"? I can do that!

A member of an isolated Sami tribe with expertise in arctic survival and rescue, having traveled to Rhodes Island in search of a higher standard of medical care for his mother.

  • An Ice Person: From the snowy north, and he uses freezing winds to attack foes.
  • Boring, but Practical: Even though he's basically a Moveset Clone of Ho'olheyak, he does have the advantage of being easier to obtain (as he's available in the red cert shop to be bought) and to raise (as per his lower rarity. Furthermore, whereas Ho'olheyak can hold an enemy afloat for 4 seconds at maximum note , Qanipalaat can do so for 7 seconds.
  • Damage-Increasing Debuff: He passively inflicts Arts Fragility on all aerial enemies in his range. This mostly synergizes with his S2 which lets him Levitate enemies before dealing a burst of Arts damage to them, but it also gives him synergy with other operators who can inflict the Levitate status, most notably Ho'olheyak, who also specializes in dealing bonus Arts damage to aerial targets.
  • Gratuitous Foreign Language: 'Qanipalaat' is an Inuit term for feathery clumps of snow. Much of his dialogue is also spoken in the actual Sami language.
  • Moveset Clone: Recursive version. Qanipalaat essentially functions like a lower rarity Ho'olheyak, and since he is released before she is, this allows the player to get a preview of her abilities in advance.

Talents: Firm Foundation
Affiliation: Victorian Empire
Race: Feline
Birthday: June 7
Height: 161cm

"Londinium Citizens' Self-Salvation Corps Caster, Rockrock, reporting in. Doctor, we've had a spot of misunderstanding before, but I'm not blinded by those old prejudices anymore. Hope we can have a good working relationship."

A member and engineer of Eartha who fought alongside Rhodes Island during the Londinium Incident.

  • Alliterative Name: In her real name, Rochelle Rockwell.
  • Awesome, but Impractical: With her second skill, Willing Burden, Rockrock is capable of reaching incredible levels of DPS that rivals even 6-star DPS operators. The catch however, is that she must ensure her drone is consistently locked on to the same target, making it difficult to maintain in the presence of mobs, and depending on how long Overdrive was active, Rockrock suffers up to a hefty 20 second stun.
  • Book Dumb: Admits that she barely knows how to read if set as assistant.
  • Fantastic Racism: Having personally seen her father die under the hands of Sarkaz mercenaries during the Sarkaz Londinium occupation, Rockrock has a strong hatred and distrust towards the Sarkaz and personally vetoed Stainless' decision to have Rhodes Island help them due to Closure's presence in Chapter 10. That said, an entry in her Operator Archive files (Which takes place some time after the Londinium crisis was dealt with) reveal that she is slowly getting over her initial hatred and belief that all Sarkaz are evil.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Her drones are made from cobbled together scrap with the help of Stainless, and she also makes her own clothes.
  • Older Than They Look: She may look like she's in her late teens, but she is infact older than Stainless, who is roughly about 26 years old.
  • You Killed My Father: She joined Eartha to avenge her father who was killed by the Sarkaz.

Skills: Swift Strike γ, 'Witch's Tears'
Talents: Born of the Biting Cold
Affiliation: Sami
Race: Feline
Birthday: March 19
Height: 170cm

"She was born under the tribe's santalla tree, so it became her identity, her codename, and a part of her life. Now the outcast returns to the tribe, regaining the right to use her name. She will commit herself to her new leader."

A Sami Witch assigned by Rhodes Island to retrieve Magallan from a snowstorm.

  • Animal Motifs: The Norwegian Forest cat. One is present in the background of her Elite 2 art.
  • Combat Stilettos: Wears high heeled boots that go up to her thighs.
  • Cursed with Awesome: Despite the Oripathy infection, she is not blind in her infected eye; instead she was able to receive a huge amount of information, which she chose to control by having Originium technology implanted into her. Kal'tsit explained that organs infected by Oripathy are instead assimilated by Originium, and are able to retain their original function at the cost of placing a large burden on the host body.
  • The Dreaded: She's become something of an urban legend among Ursus soldiers, who only refer to her as the "Witch", and has been known to wipe out entire Ursus military patrols
  • Eye Scream: She caught Oripathy after a dying Ursus soldier was implied to have stabbed her eye with an Originium shard as petty retaliation against Sami's victory. This has caused her a lot of insecurities as an Infected.
  • Given Name Reveal: In Goldenglow's Promotion File, Quercus confirms that "Santalla" is Simone's codename.
"Well, it's like when you're warm next to Skyfire, or cold next to Santalla. It's the sort of thing that only shows in people with extreme Originium Arts assimilation, usually."
  • Gratuitous Latin: Her codename Santalla is the feminine form for santalum, which is Latin for sandalwood. Her Chinese name literally translates to "frozen sandalwood".
  • Hot Witch: A bit of Irony considering her ice affinity but she otherwise fits, with a long slit dress showing off her legs and her title as a Sami witch.
  • An Ice Person: Her assimilation with ice Originium Arts is so great that Quercus notes that you'll literally feel cold next to Santalla. In gameplay, she flings ice shards at the enemy and her second skill allows her to bombard enemies with freezing ice to inflict Cold and Freeze.
  • Living Legend: She's quite famous in Sami and is generally well respected among all of the tribes.
  • Magic Music: She sings in order to control said element, not entirely unlike FrostNova.
  • Magic Staff: Wields a long one that also doubles as her Arts Unit.
  • Meaningful Name: Her codename is derived from her being the former protector of the sacred Santalla Tree.
  • Moveset Clone: Her talent is a carbon copy of Blaze's second, down to its visual effect. Gnosis also has this talent (alongside the same visual effect), except with a shorter windup time and it also applies to other Karlan operators fielded.
  • Mystical White Hair: She has long white hair and is a Sami witch.
  • Powerful, but Inaccurate: Her second skill expands her range and summons a Death from Above of AoE ice shards to bombard and freeze enemies, but she loses the ability to actually target enemies, with each shard landing on a random location in range.
    • Downplayed, because while the in-game description says 'random', there's actually some fixed part of it. Its first blast will target a random tile on her left, the second blast will fall on a random tile to her right, then one on the center. She cannot attack map boundaries, so one can actually tighten her attack range in certain maps and make her Freeze guaranteed, as demonstrated in this gif. More specifically.... Enemies on the center tiles have around a 93% chance of being frozen, the other tiles not at the corners have a 75% chance, while the corners of Santalla's range have a 50% chance. One will want to freeze enemies within Santalla's ideal range, not just because freeze lowers enemy RES by 15, but it also stuns them in place, meaning they stay in ideal range.
  • Pretty in Mink: Her coat has a large fur shawl.
  • Promoted to Playable: With the release of "The Black Forest Wills A Dream".
  • Put on a Bus: Despite being a Rhodes Island member with her own unique art, her only appearance is in "Operational Intelligence" until she was confirmed to be in "The Black Forest Wills A Dream".
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: She had one against the Ursus soldiers that slaughtered her tribe and claimed their land as part of Ursus. It was how she got infected with Oripathy, as a soldier managed to stab her in the eye with an Originium shard before dying to her blizzard.
  • True Blue Femininity: She wears predominantly white and blue, and is a Hot Witch very capable of striking down her enemies.

Talents: Arts Sniper

"I am Skyfire of King's Wand. I will remain at Rhodes Island until my objective is accomplished. What's my objective, you ask? To burn every last Reunion thug to ashes, of course."

An Originium researcher for the King's Wand research institute with a profound affinity for fire Arts.

  • Actress Allusion:
  • Arrogant Kung-Fu Girl: Skyfire is very proud of her innate aptitude with fire-based Arts, and looks down on every single other operator with powers similar to hers but without her finesse and training. She has a troubling opinion of Reed in particular, both because she doesn't believe Reed can properly manifest and manipulate fire like she could, but also because she's actually significantly more powerful than that, her control over her Arts potentially being a mastery over the essence of life itself.
  • Artistic License – Space: "Meteorites" are chunks of space debris that had survived atmospheric entry and landed. A chunk of flying rock is called a "meteoroid". This is yet another example of meanings being changed when the game is localized to English, as the original description of Skyfire's S2 mentions "comets" instead, which is a much more appropriate term.
  • Busman's Holiday: Even while vacationing at an island resort, she sees it as an opportunity to get some research done by taking an excursion to pick some new samples to analyze.
  • Cassandra Truth: In "A Light Spark in Darkness", she's acting as an advisor to the Caladon city council on Infected affairs, and repeatedly warns them that if the way the city treats the Infected doesn't improve, an Infected uprising is practically inevitable. However, she's frustrated at how most of the council repeatedly ignores her warnings.
  • Cat Girl: Skyfire has cat ears and tail, physical traits common to the Feline race.
  • Crosshair Aware: Her comets' areas of impact are painted with huge crosshairs.
  • Damage-Increasing Debuff: Upon reaching Elite 1, she gains the Arts Sniper talent, which increases the Arts damage all blocked enemies take by 7%; the debuff increases to 15% as soon as she's promoted to Elite 2.
  • Death from Above: Her second skill, Fire of Heaven, calls down meteorites to fall from the sky on top of enemies.
  • Dub Name Change: Similar to Blue Poison, exclusive to the Japanese version. Her Japanese name is "スカイフレア" which is audibly pronounced Skyflare in the voice lines. However, her name in Chinese is 天火, which literally translates to 'Skyfire'.
  • Herd-Hitting Attack: As an "AoE" caster, she is already capable of this, but Skyfire has the "Crowd Control" tag attached to her because on top of hitting multiple enemies at once, anyone hit by Fire of Heaven are also stunned for .1 seconds at Skill Level 1.
  • Hot Witch: Her E2 artwork focuses on her legs, and she has a noticeable chest, especially in her summer outfit. Also a literal example, as she couldn't control her own fire Arts, resulting in her often triggering fire alarms by accident.
  • Mugging the Monster: During A Light Spark in Darkness, she gets kidnapped by a gang of hired goons in place of the sickly councilman she was acting as a representative for. Needless to say, it ends poorly for them.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Skyfire is a Hot Witch (both literally and figuratively) wearing attire that, while not revealing much skin, also showcases her chest and legs nicely. Taken up a notch with her Elite 2 art, which focuses on her legs, and her swimsuit skin, which bares her legs and arms while being just as form-fitting as her default attire.
  • My Suit Is Also Super: Averted. While not shown in game, her profile mentions that while she is immune to her own fire, her clothes are not, and it is not uncommon for her to accidentally scorch herself naked when using her Arts. Her Elite 2 art shows her burnt stockings, and what happens after that is best left to the imagination.
  • Named After Somebody Famous: Her real name, Ethelflaed, is a reference to Æthelflæd, a famous ruler of the kingdom of Mercia and the eldest daughter of Alfred the Great.
  • Nerf: One that happened before the game's release. When she was playable in the beta, her second skill had an infinite duration and could be deactivated manually, much like the skills of Mountain and SilverAsh. This was eventually taken out.
  • Punny Name: With her second skill, she can literally rain fire from the sky.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: A bit less roaring than some, but she's on one — her team’s entire reason for joining Rhodes Island has to do with their pet Phil being killed by Reunion, and them wanting to get revenge on the entire organization. That this is not entirely what Rhodes is supposed to be about doesn't matter much; so long as Rhodes and Reunion clash, she's more than happy to assist with fire from the sky.
"My life plans? ...Tch, it was all going swimmingly until that dreadful attack. But after Reunion murdered Phil, their eradication moved up to the top of my to-do list."
  • Ship Tease: Subtle, but she notes that her body heats up whenever she passes by the Doctor's office.
  • Skilled, but Naive: She is a world renowned Originium researcher who also happens to have incredibly powerful Arts powers. However, she's spent most of her life working in a lab and has very little practical experience for the real world.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: One of the reasons her professor convinced her to join Rhodes Island was to help her learn to control her temper and dial back her hatred for Reunion and the Infected. It largely worked, as by the time of her transferring to Caladon she's learned not to instantly respond to anything she doesn't like with a fire blast, and has become a vocal supporter of equal treatment of Infected.

"Caster Steward reporting in. I'm glad to be working with you."

A freelancer from Kjerag who joined Rhodes as the caster of Reserve Team A4.

  • Animal Motifs: Foxes, due to his Vulpo race. He also bears the physical fox ears and fluffy fox tail. Due to its white color and the name of his wand, he may be based on an arctic fox.
  • Anti-Armor: His trait, Armor Break, makes him prioritize attacking enemies with the highest defense (who tend to have low resistance), which is a rather powerful trait for defense-ignoring fighters; other than Ceobenote , no other Casters possess a similar trait.
  • Boring, but Practical: In Integrated Strategies mode, he's likely the first Caster you'll recruit as he can be recruited for free, leaving Hope to be spent on frontline for the early game. And if boosted by certain Collectibles, he can hit quite hard for a 3-star Operator.
  • Com Mons: He's the most common Core Caster you can get when setting DPS at Recruitment for Casters.
  • His Name Really Is "Barkeep": He notes that his family name is an aptronym for what his family did for a living and Steward himself continues this lineage of stewardship by providing service to merchants travelling to Kjerag.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome:
    • Zigzagged. At first glance, some players may not have any incentive to build Steward as they also obtain the (free) 5-star Amiya right off the bat before he becomes playable, and that is before getting to the part where he is obviously overshadowed in the presence of high-tier ST Casters like Eyjafjalla and Ceobe. However, that is not to say Steward is completely without merits, however, especially since Amiya herself suffers significant drawbacks to her kit that prevents her from being a direct upgrade towards lower-rarity Casters.
    • Steward's unique talent, Armor Break, changes his target priority to focus on big beefy enemies (who often have low RES) instead of cannon fodder, allowing him to snipe them without being distracted, which is something Amiya cannot do. When coupled with his skill Power Strike α, which he will proc very frequently due to its low SP cost, he can melt through high defense enemies with relative ease, granting him a useful niche in dealing with durable enemies throughout early to mid game, especially when the player has not acquired any high-rarity Casters yet. This is also part of why he is often tasked with taking down certain enemies that come from the "Darknights Memoir" event, as it prevents him from waking up others who have lower defense. Due to his trait, he'll usually ignore Sentinels as well.
  • Real Name as an Alias: Unlike most cases of operators obscuring their real names, "Steward" isn't just his codename, it's also his surname.
  • Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: Steward serves as the savvy and emotionally levelheaded guy to Cardigan's Genki Girl, as two of his voice lines have him directly tell Cardigan to try to think before acting and not touch any equipment.

"Hello, Doctor. Um, I'm not here to make trouble. I'm, uh, yeah. Here to study. Right, study. Since Gavial is over here, it wouldn't make sense for me to stay back home alone, right?"

An Acuhallan tribe leader and a die-hard fangirl of Gavial, who takes care of Gavial's clan in her absence.

  • Ambiguously Gay: Tomimi is hinted to have something for Gavial. Her bio mentions her being very close to Gavial, having grown up together, and Tomimi immediately joined up with Rhodes Island upon hearing her childhood friend is there under the pretenses of "bringing her back to the clan", which she also named after her. Not so ambiguous in the international release, where Tomimi outright states that she is in love with Gavial, and starts quoting romance novels as she talks about how she wants to keep her by her side.
  • Animal Motifs: False gharial, Tomistoma schlegelii)
  • Big Bad: Of "Gavial: The Great Chief Returns". Played with in that she's not evil, but Tomimi is the one responsible for the player's crew being shot down and stranded in the middle of the Acajutlan jungles, and having to participate in the local fighting arena event. She even holds Lancet-2 and the shuttle pilot hostage to force Gavial into staying with her. Ended up as The Unfought, though Gavial does give her a piece of her mind for all the troubles she put her through.
  • Childhood Friends: With Gavial. In fact, Gavial being part of Rhodes Island is the reason why she joined in the first place.
  • D-Cup Distress: Archosaurian version. Her 200 trust profile notes how her tail grows so big and fat, and while some Archosaurians find it appealing, it also causes a lot of problems in her daily life.
  • Goth: Aesthetically, according to herself, she based her looks on what she saw in fashion magazines. She also has pale skin and a white hair combo.
  • Goth Girls Know Magic: Has the looks and is a Caster.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: Due to her talent Arts of the Wild, Tomimi mainly deals melee Physical damagenote  instead of ranged Arts while one of her skills is active, where she will whack her enemies with her staff instead of slinging spells at them, and won't target airborne enemies. Basically, she turns into a melee unit sitting on a ranged tile when this happens. Her unique fighting style makes her a parallel to the enemy Acahuallan Ritualist casters that switch to powerful melee strikes with their staves when blocked.
  • My Species Doth Protest Too Much: Like Gavial, Tomimi isn't like the typical Archosauria, though her case is a bit more unusual. Whereas most Archosauria are Hot-Blooded and belligerent, Tomimi is placid and kind. Despite this, her position as clan leader is unchallenged.
  • Random Effect Spell: Upon reaching Elite 1, Tomimi gains Protection Plan for Gavial, which at Skill Level 1, makes it such that every attack has a 50% chance to randomly trigger one of the following effects: Stun the target for .6 seconds, increase the damage of that attack by 170%, and deal AoE damage.
  • Rescue Romance: Tomimi holds Gavial in especially high regards after a Noodle Incident in the past where she saved her from a contaminated mine, getting infected in the process. She doted extremely heavily on Gavial afterwards as she recovered, which led to her getting mad, beating the crap out of everyone, and leaving the place.
  • Supreme Chef: If her having the Barbecue Master RIIC Dorm skill is any indication, Tomimi makes a mean barbecue. If she's put in the Dorm, she boosts the Morale regeneration rate of another Operator in the dorm by .55/hr for as long as her target doesn't have a full Morale. If her target is Gavial however, then her morale is boosted by another .45/hr (for a total of 1/hr).
  • Temporary Online Content: Tomimi is a welfare operator and only obtainable while her event is running.
  • Vapor Wear: Tomimi's attire can be charitably described as a thin wrapping of rags that only really covers up the delicate parts of her body, and even then not that well, as the outline of what's underneath can still be seen. Most of this is even unraveled in her E2 CG, where most of her underwear becomes visible.
  • Yandere: She goes to some... extreme lengths to keep Gavial by her side over the course of The Great Chief Returns, shooting down her transport aircraft so she can't go back to Rhodes Island, rallying her clan together to physically prevent her from leaving once the operators have the means to repair it, then taking Lancet-2 and the pilot as hostages when that doesn't work, all while telling Gavial that she doesn't care if she hates her for it, she's going to make her stay no matter what. However, after that fails she calls it quits rather than escalating things any further, and has been able to behave herself since arriving at Rhodes Island.
