The Jolly Roger of the Devil's Luck Pirates

     In General
  • Action Hero: The crew have a diverse set of powers and are fans of barging in and kicking ass. Even when they try to be more covert, it doesn’t really last long until they need to fight their way out.
  • Anti-Hero: Many members of the crew are not exactly the best of people and they have done their fair share of crimes. But their adventures have resulted in the world becoming a more peaceful place.
  • Badass Crew: The Devil’s Luck Pirates become very powerful over the course of the campaign. They have a captain who nearly mastered Rokushiki, a knight equipped with a supernatural arms and armor, and many of the crew have powerful devil fruits, including 3 Paramecia, 2 Zoan (1 of them being a rare mythical zoan) and a WATER Logia. By the end of the series, the four Player Characters are all have bounties over a hundred million as well.
  • The Chosen One: On Planet Duros, there is a prophecy that describes the crew as demons who are the greatest enemies of the emperor. Ragnar transforming into a bear is enough to send Durosians into a panic.
  • Combat Pragmatist: One Piece is well known for its one-on-one fights. The DLP do NOT play by those rules and WILL dogpile and overwhelm their foes if given the chance.
  • Criminal Found Family: They entire crew become enemies of the World Government. But they don’t care since they have one another. This is especially important since most of them have lost family members.
  • Fighter, Mage, Thief: Both the P Cs and the most combat-active NP Cs have a bit of this dynamic going on.
    • Duros, Ragnar and Pearl are fighters. Duros focuses on his defense and keeping attacks away from his allies, Ragnar is an extremely strong and powerful Barbarian, and Pearl can fly quickly and use her claws, teeth and fire to take down her foes.
    • William, Louis and Cyril are mages. William’s Roulette fruit allows him access to a menagerie of abilities depending on his creativity, Louis with his rewind powers essentially makes him the crew’s healer of sorts. Cyril prefers using various water-based attacks on his enemies from a distance (though will go into melee if necessary).
    • William (again) and Doxie are thieves. Both of them being able to hide and sneak around easily while dealing good damage.
    • Verona is a bit of a mix of the three archetypes, being an Arcane Archer. Like a fighter, he has pretty good Hit Points and plenty of damaging attacks. Like a mage, he can use his animations to either heal from a distance, extra damage or to gain valuable information. Like a thief, he and some of his animations can sneak around quite well to get the drop on foes.
  • One-Man Army: Subverted. Though the crew each individually is stronger than most people in the One Piece world, none of them are as strong as roughly a Rear Admiral. But when they all work as one unit, the crew can unleash devastation and take down foes much more powerful than themselves quite easily.
  • The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: Despite being pirates, they honestly do not do too much pirating. They have robbed and killed before, but they have not pillaged really at all and they tend to leave civilians alone unlike most pirates.
  • Super Drowning Skills: Around half the crew have a Devil Fruit, which means that they cannot swim at all. It’s also been mentioned that Gravy can float but is also not much of a swimmer and Duros is in heavy armor that he pretty much never removes.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: More like favorite drink, but the entire crew likes pineapple juice a lot.
  • Weirdness Magnet: They have been through a lot of crazy shit, met a lot of weird people and encountered a lot of odd Devil Fruits in less than a year of sailing.

Player Characters

    William Emanon

William Emanon/William D. Chapstain

The Devil's Luck
The unlikely captain of the Devil's Luck Pirates. A swindler from the South Blue that found himself with the role of Captain because nobody else was willing to take it. He has a mysterious past he doesn't often talk about.

His in-game class is Swashbuckler Rogue.

After winning a risky gamble in a dingy casino, William obtained the Roulette-Roulette Fruit, which creates a roulette on his body with 410 slots - each slot he lands on represents an existing Devil Fruit, of which he gains the power for a limited amount of time.

  • A Father to His Men: Cares about each and every one of his crew-mates like family, even if he doesn’t always agree with them.
  • Berserk Button: Has many of them.
    • Do not insult the art of card tricks. It makes him mad enough that he might even forget who insulted card tricks in the first place.
    • Taking his sword, the True Eight of Spades. When Soldi took his sword, he was fuming and fantasized frequently about taking him down.
    • It’s a given that hurting his crew would trigger a captain’s wrath, but attacking Doxie will make you enemy #1.
  • The Charmer: As a swashbuckler rogue, he had panache. Though oddly enough, he is not proficient with the Persuasion skill. But even then, he is able to get on people’s good side rather easily if he wants to.
  • Everyone Has Standards: A swindler and a rogue he may be, but slavery is a Moral Event Horizon for him.
  • Fearless Fool: It is hard to actually scare him when people warn him about certain individuals. Though when actually confronting those individuals and it’s going badly, he is prone to panicking.
  • The Gambler: Loves gambling. And if he can find a way to cheat he will. Because as Boss once said “We’re not gamblers. We’re thieves”.
  • Genre Savvy: Is somewhat aware of how things go when it comes to dealing with enemies and obstacles in the crew’s way. Like when Louis was about to speak about the Timber Lord’s commanders, he immediately predicted one was “huge and muscular” (Chuck) and the other was “a really hot girl” (Hemlock).
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Has a habit of violent outbursts or talking about committing violence when something or someone upsets him. Whether it be enemy pirates, marines or even a old man bugging him.
  • Heroic Comedic Sociopath: William has done some messed up stuff (particularly to the elderly) and has angry and violent outbursts once in a while. Most of it is played for laughs.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He’s a temperamental, violent thief with few regrets. But he’s also a loyal friend who will go out of his way to help his crew if they need it.
  • Instant Expert: Never played a Violin before. But after getting a violin he played it beautifully.
    • He also tends to get the hang of the fruits he spins rather quickly. Especially if he rolls them a second time.
  • The Leader: He is the captain of the Devil’s Luck Pirates and he won’t let anyone forget it.
  • Lovable Rogue: Has stolen more than a few things and killed many people but is a swell and fun-loving guy once you get to know him.
  • Personality Powers: While him getting the Roulette-Roulette fruit was, literally, up to chance, it fits his gambling-loving personality a lot, essentially forcing him to spin the wheel wherever he gets into a combat scenario, and hope for something good.
  • Shipper on Deck: He is very much supportive of Lyssa's attraction to Verona and supports them as much as he can without forcing it.
    • He also hopes Pearl and Cyril get together and finds them to be good for one another.
    • He is also actively writing fanfiction of both pairings.
  • Sibling Rivalry: Him and Trevor rarely see eye to eye about anything. Their disputes range from actual fighting to juvenile insults and pranks (on William’s part).
  • Supernatural Martial Arts: Learned Rokushiki from his adoptive father Boss. He has Soru, Tekkai, Geppo, Kano-E, Rankyaku, Shigan and finally Rokuogan. He uses Geppo most frequently and was the first one he ever used. He’s even able to repeatedly Geppo to scale buildings.
  • Superpower Lottery: Well - superpower roulette in this case. William can potentially have any power from an existing Devil Fruit - be it a Logia, Zoan, or Paramecia - however, it's completely random, and he could get an universally powerful ability like Whitebeard's Tremor-Tremor Fruit, or one that is very conditional and niche like a Devil Fruit that allows him to animate Origami.
    • Combo Platter Powers: He has been known to switch powers on the fly in battle to either find a better fruit to suit his needs at the moment or to spin a potentially more useful power. In any case, no two fights with William are the same.
    • Imagination-Based Superpower: When calling 666 on the wheel (which the wheel lacks), he was able to create his very own devil fruit power.
  • Teeny Weenie: When the Player Characters rolled for penis size, it turns out William has a 3 inch penis. Which qualifies for having a micro penis.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Not evil per-say, but he's by far the most grey of the player character due to his upbringing, and his actions often cause chaos (and the death of a few old people). Word of God states that if placed on a scale where 0 was pure evil and 100 was pure good, William would be a 55.
  • Would Harm a Senior: His aforementioned hatred of the elderly is well known. Though a bit exaggerated (but not by much).
    • He killed Cranstin after he was knocked out by Verona on his orders. William considered it a mercy.
    • He was the one to kill V. Though that death was much deserved.
    • Kasparov was a twofer for William’s hatred. His hate for both old people and chess. But again it was deserved on Kasparov’s part.
    • His first kill at 12 years old was an elderly Celestial Dragon woman. He repressed the memory of killing her. Turns out, an alternate timeline version of her is the Director of the Void Police.
    • Void Cranstin says that William is infamous for killing old people across all timelines. William decapitates Void Cranstin as the final kill of the campaign.

    Duros
"Yes! I will gladly sneak around in my loud clanging armor! They won't notice a thing!"
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fq8ffwm.jpg
The Golden Wolf

A kind-hearted knight in plate armor and the First Mate of the Devil's Luck Pirates with the desire to protect everyone. Can be a bit naive, but has his heart in the right place. He also really likes fishing.

His in-game class is Battle Master Fighter.

  • 24-Hour Armor: He is almost never seen without his armor. He even sleeps in his heavy plate armor.
  • Ambiguously Absent Parent: Duros never knew his parents. But he does not care because his crew is his family. And that’s all the family he needs.
  • Animated Armor: His Za Wulfo Armor is possessed by a wolf-like spirit that helps Duros defend his friends. He later gains a sentient Shield he named friend as well.
  • Armored But Frail: He is hard to hit, but his stamina is not the greatest due to low Constitution and poor hit point rolls on level up. It took him until level 14 to gain over 100 hit points.
  • Declaration of Protection: Dedicated himself to protecting all his friends and anyone else he deems worthy of protection. He was also tasked with Prince Jasper on protecting Princess Pearl during their adventures.
  • Discard and Draw: When Benevolence ascends to godhood, it gifts Duros with a “son” who not only is stronger than itself (being a +2 longsword), but can grant Duros temporary hit points once per turn. Better yet, Duros can use a bonus action to grant healing to one of Duros’s nearby allies. Duros names this new sword The Light.
  • The Ditz: Duros is not the brightest bulb and can be quite gullible at times. He also has an Intelligence score of around 6 or 7.
  • Empowered Badass Normal: He's the only player to never gain a Devil Fruit of his own, instead relying on his own skills as a fighter and the increasingly more powerful equipment - first the blessed sword Benevolence, then the Devil Fruit-having armor Za Wolfo, and finally the cursed shield Friend. He's also the only one of the crew that has Conqueror's Haki.
  • Guardian Entity: Za Wulfo is a wolf-like spirit that fused itself into a suit of armor. It loves protecting people just as much as Duros and extends the reach of who Duros can protect.
  • Helmets Are Hardly Heroic: Though decked in armor, he prefers to not wear a helmet. Though he occasionally wears hats.
  • I Call It "Vera": After obtaining the blessed sword of the Tarako Kingdom from Prince Jasper, he renames it "Benevolence".
  • Knight in Shining Armor: Tries to embody this Archetype as much as he can. Being a pirate, this has…mixed results.
  • Knightly Sword and Shield: Though he started with a mace and handaxes, after being given Benevolence he embodies the fighting style. A rarity in the One Piece world.
  • The Lancer: Is the first mate of the Devil’s Luck Pirates and tries to steer William (and the rest of the crew) to do the right thing.
  • Life Drain: Benevolences heals its wielder half the damage it inflicts once per turn. The Light grants its wielder temporary hit points equal to the damage it inflicts once per turn and as a bonus action, he can expend his temporary hit points to heal a creature equal to the temporary hit points.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: Wields a shield to protect himself and others close by. He later gains a sentient shield he names Friend who can absorb energy based attacks and redirect them back at his foes.
  • My Greatest Failure: His failure to save Jasper from imprisonment and failing to save his fellow knights from being slaughtered still haunt him to this day.
  • Nice Guy: Is extremely approachable, friendly, dutiful and patient with people. He always tries to do what’s right and makes sure those around him are safe. Everyone on the crew appreciates him dearly.
  • Offered the Crown: Luna offers him the chance to be emperor of Planet Duros. He politely turns it down in order to keep his crew safe on their adventures. But it was the first time he thought of abandoning his duties for happiness.
    • Once he leaves the planet during the epilogue with Luna, he feels that he is ready to rule as Emperor of Planet Duros.
  • Official Couple: With Luna. Though they had a rocky start at first, over the course of the crew’s adventures on planet Duros, the two become closer. This leads to them spending the night together and Luna being pregnant with his child. This doesn’t bother Duros at all and he treats her as if they are already married.
  • The Paladin: While not officially a Paladin in terms of class, he is very thematically close to one: he wields a blessed sword, wears heavy armor (and a golden-colored one once he obtains Za Wolfo), is the most unambigously good member of the crew, and his powerset is heavily focused on defence rather than offence.
  • The Power of Friendship: He is a firm believer in it, to an almost comical degree.
  • Shipper on Deck: He ships both Verona with Lyssa and sees Cyril as a worthy suitor to his princess Pearl.
  • Stealthy Colossus: Subverted - he is a pretty huge guy in even bigger armor unfit for stealth, but he'll often suggest going into stealth missions, completely confident he'll succeed.
  • Stone Wall: He may not deal the most damage in the crew, but his high armor class, his skills with protecting others and his ability to heal his wounds adds a lot to both his survivability and the survivability of the rest of the crew.
  • Team Dad: Tries to keep a sense of order on the ship and give advice when necessary. He has also taken Cyril under his wing and trains him to be stronger.

    Verona
"We don't question our morals either. It's funnier that way.”
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ylhhqcj.jpg
The Laughing Joke

A stoic masked man that doubles as the crew's Navigator and Sniper that is a killer shot with his rifle. He heads out with the Devil's Luck Pirates to find a Marine captain whom he has sworn vengeance.

His in-game class is Arcane Archer Fighter.

After a lucky find in the island of L'Arbor, Verona obtained the Animate-Animate Fruit, which allows him to imbue life to inanimate object he has touched and make them obey his commands. He is also able to look through his creations' eyes to scout ahead.

  • Animate Inanimate Object: His power allows him to give life to any inanimate object (up to a certain size) - which makes them grow eyes, legs, arms and legs (regardless of what exactly the object is - when he used his power to animate a clockwork bird, the eyes and mouth appeared in the bird's belly). They also gain a personality, though they all share complete loyalty towards their master.
  • Career-Ending Injury: Getting punched by Blue Blood three different times has seriously damaged his ribcage. Ten years later, he has developed breathing problems and needs to use a respiratory mask not unlike his late grandfather V.
  • Cold Sniper: Is a cool and collected marksman who prefers fighting from a distance.
  • Collateral Damage: Though he is responsible when it comes to handling his guns, he is prone to accidentally shooting his friends. It’s gotten to the point that the crew jokes that you aren’t a full member of the Devil’s Luck Pirates until you get shot by Verona.
  • Cool Mask: Almost never seen without his face mask and goggles. It hides what’s underneath and most people wouldn’t like it. It also prevents his burn scars from being exposed to the elements.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Even when compared to his crew mates, Verona’s past is messed up. His Marine Captain Father Viridian was killed by a close family friend and set fire to the house the moment he heard a 12-year-old Verona inside. Verona escaped the fire with horrible burn scars and hid out in the woods with no supplies or shelter for over 2 months waiting for his mother. She never came. So he dedicated his life to hunting down those who took everything from him.
  • Deadpan Snarker: He doesn't talk a lot - but when he does, he tend to throw out some zingers.
(After obtaining his Devil Fruit) "It appears I have the ability to make friends."
  • Eating Lunch Alone: He prefers to eat in private so people do not see his burn scars.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Has a knack for technology and has created his trick bullets all by himself. He also has multi-classed into Artificer.
  • Goggles Do Nothing: Averted. They keep sand, water and other debris out of his eyes while he’s aiming or on lookout.
  • I Call It "Vera": He called his first rifle 'Lil'Timmy', in honor of the kid that the crew inadvertedly got executed very early on in the series.
  • Magic from Technology: Being readapted arcane arrows, his special bullets have abnormal properties such as temporarily banishing enemies to another dimension or causing them to be charmed - all of which is handwaved away to be part of Verona's tinkering. This also ends up being foreshadowing regarding Verona's family.
  • Mundane Utility: The Animate-Animate fruit is very powerful and flexible both in combat and for resolving sticky situations - it can also be used for very mundane actions like making a particularly heavy lever pull itself.
  • Nightmare Face: His lower face is horrifically burned. These burns are third degree and he has no lips whatsoever. Most people who see his face are quite put off by it.
  • No Social Skills: Is not really one for casual conversation and tends to keep to himself. He tends to leave the questioning to others unless he really needs something answered. Though if spoken too, he will try and be friendly depending on who’s taking to him.
  • Official Couple: With Lyssa at the epilogue, knowing to himself that of all the people that can teach him love, it would be her.
  • Pre-Asskicking One-Liner: Tends to have a pun or thematic quip upon either beginning or ending a fight.
  • The Smart Guy: Of the 4 Player Characters, Verona is the one most likely to come up with strategies, plans and thinking outside the box. He is also one of the more logical members of the crew and has a knack for gadgets.
    • Though his Animate Animate Fruit can be used for combat, he has had a lot of success with using his fruit to help gather info such as performing reconnaissance, to tell him of past events that the objects have “seen” or to tell him what the objects do/what they are.
  • Socially Awkward Hero: Though on the side of good (despite his questionable morals), his conversational skills tend to be quite stiff.
  • The Stoic: By far the most quiet of the crew and tends to keep to himself.
  • The Unfettered: Though he rarely feels joy in killing, he is more than willing to end a life. He is also very desensitized to violence and horror.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: You used to be a pretty happy kid who wanted grow up to become a marine like his parents. Then he lost everything.
  • What Is This Thing You Call "Love"?: Is not used to affection and romance is almost an alien concept for him.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: He has both entomophobia and pyrophobia due to his traumas. He still remembers the flames that seared his body and the bugs that crawled all over him in the forest for months.

    Ragnar
"I'm a bear."

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kjxpq09.jpg
The Bear
Click here to see The Big Blue Bear

The shipwright and strongman of the crew, a huge barbaric-looking man who has headed out into the seas to find his captured wife and son - and also become the strongest man in the world, as a side objective.

His in-game class is Berserker Barbarian.

Within a ransacked village, Ragnar discovered the Bear-Bear Fruit Model: Grizzly, a Zoan-type Devil Fruit that allows him to transform into a huge grizzly bear or into a bear-human hybrid.

  • Attack! Attack! Attack!: His fighting style is to attack and attack until the target is down for the count.
  • Barbarian Hero: He explicitly calls himself and his people barbarians and he makes a point to try and help those less fortunate than him.
  • Bears Are Bad News: Weaponized with his Devil Fruit, which enhanced his already prodigious strength to become a complete juggernaut fighter.
    • Beary Friendly: To his allies, he is a good natured Bear who always has their back.
  • Berserk Button: Have more than a few.
    • Don’t EVER tell him to put on a shirt.
    • Cleo seems to draw his ire even more so than the rest of the crew. To the point of irrational hatred (or at least more irrational than the rest of the crew).
    • In a more tragic sense, those who cheat to obtain their strength (especially strength enhancing drugs). Which becomes more tragic once Ragnar becomes addicted to blue blood.
    • And God help you if you harm or have harmed Hertha or Magnus.
  • The Berserker: His subclass is Path of the Berserker and he attacks with reckless abandon against his foes. To the point that after he’s done fighting, he’s much more tired.
  • The Big Guy: The biggest of the Devil's Luck pirates and the most proficient, alongside Duros, in direct melee combat.
  • Blood Knight: Finds enjoyment in a good scrap or a chance to show his strength.
  • Brutish Character, Brutish Weapon: Ragnar favors big greataxes. His experiences as a lumberjack allows him to use these huge axes with great precision.
  • Bully Hunter: Hates those who use their power to abuse those weaker than them. He wants to become the strongest bear in order to protect those he cares about from being harmed or threatened by even the toughest. Whether they be pirate or Marine.
  • Charles Atlas Superpower: Of the Players, Ragnar has showed the greatest feats of strength. He can even lift an entire ship all by himself.
  • Doomed Hometown: His home of Atlas was invaded and ransacked by the Steam Pipe Pirates. They took anything valuable they can, especially the barbarian residents as slaves.
  • The Ditz: Though not stupid (he actually has above average intelligence), he can be a bit dense and oblivious to what going on around him due to his poor deception and insight skills.
  • Dumb Muscle: Averted. He’s a genius at construction and can make and fix wooden objects in seconds. He is also quite well spoken and has a very extensive vocabulary.
  • Eyepatch of Power: He wears an eyepatch to hide the missing eye his son Ragnar IV gouged out.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Ragnar has problems seeing objects and people thanks to only having one eye. Even when they’re right in front of him. His passive perception is 7.
  • Happily Married: To Hertha, his half-Giant wife.
    • Hot Skitty-on-Wailord Action: Though a big guy himself, Hertha is much bigger than him.
    • Single-Target Sexuality: “Hertha is the only one for me!”. Though he can acknowledge when somebody is attractive and has joked about polygamy. But it’s firmly established that he loves his wife deeply.
  • Hidden Depths: Philosophy-wise, though no Social Darwinist he acknowledges that in order to not have what is yours taken, you must become the strongest around. This ideal also applies to who he needs to kill. Kill the strongest/leader and you won’t have to kill those under them.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: He thinks the insane assassin Tako is like a son to him. He also thinks of Clementine like a daughter (despite scaring her multiple times).
  • GoodParent: He tried his best to raise Ragnar IV and taught him everything he knows. His relationship with his second son Magnus is much better and they love one another very much.
  • I Have No Son!: Has disowned his first son and is angered that Ragnar IV is using the Ragnar name.
  • The Load: Ragnar’s new drug dependency has slowed down and even risked the crew’s lives. Void Cop Zoro would have been beaten much quicker if Ragnar just stayed away from the blue blood.
  • Mighty Lumberjack: Is an expert lumberjack and is powerful axe user. One of his greataxes The Mighty One also deals extra damage to wooden objects and creatures.
  • Muscles Are Meaningful: Ragnar is almost all muscle and he has the most feats of strength out of the Player Characters.
  • Must Have Caffeine: Is known to drink coffee and had recently gotten a near-addiction to Frappucinos.
  • No Object Permanence: His Wisdom score is 5 and if due one eye he has disadvantage on perception checks, this means his passive perception to see is a whopping 2.
  • Offing the Offspring: He killed Tako, who he for some illogical reason saw as a son.
    • Even more tragically, he ended up killing his firstborn son Ragnar IV in order to end his tyranny and madness.
  • Person of Mass Construction: Is the crew’s shipwright and can build an entire village in less than a day. He can construct and repair anything made from wood in a matter of seconds. He can fix walls in seconds and build wooden houses on less than a minute. He can even turn wooden puppets into tables with a single swing of his ax.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: When he goes on a rampage, he can easily cause the most destruction among the crew.
  • Raised by Grandparents: His parents died when he young and grew up with his grandparents.
  • Rated M for Manly: He oozes manliness and is described as a Chad.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: He has a lot of targets of his wrath. Few of these targets have survived his vengeance.
    • The Steam Pipe Pirates destroyed his village and enslaved his wife and son.
    • King Malachite bought Hertha and Magnus and then later sold them to the Timber Lord.
    • The Timber Lord placed Magnus into a wood being as muscle for his lumber operation and planned to sacrifice Hertha in his colossal effigy.
    • His son Ragnar IV took his eye and possibly betrayed Atlas to pirates. He also gave barbarians a bad name.
    • Ragnar blames Blue Blood for his son’s descent into insanity thanks to his drugs and seeks to kill the Yonko.
  • Sanity Slippage: His blue blood addiction and the death of his wife drove him to the edge of sanity. Now he’s a powerful Yonko out for conquest.
  • Small Parent, Huge Child: He's already a huge guy himself, but his son Magnus, being quarter-giant, is much taller than him - despite being 'twelve years old.
  • Signature Laugh: He has a very distinctive laughter style established ever since the first episode of the series, which sounds like "Cha-ha-ha-ha-ad!"
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Ragnar becomes much more short tempered and aggressive to those around him after he gets addicted to blue blood.
    • Ten years later, he is now an infamously powerful Yonko.
  • Undying Loyalty: Is 100% devoted to his crew and will fight for them even at the cost of his health.

NPC Crewmembers

    Pearl
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bbebjcg.png
MAD G
A pink-haired young girl and the first NPC member of the Devil's Luck Pirates. She's the princess of the Tarako Kingdom who escaped her tyrannical father's clutches. She holds the unique role of the Martial-Artist Dragon Girl (or MAD G) of the crew.

She was given the Dragon-Dragon Fruit Model: Western Dragon when she was but a child, giving her the ability to transform into a red western dragon or turn her limbs partially draconic - a power she didn't have control over before meeting the Devil's Luck Pirates.

  • 11th-Hour Superpower: During the final battle, she finally manages to control her power and transform into a full dragon with complete control. In this form, she has adult red dragon stats.
  • Afraid of Their Own Strength: She is afraid of her dragon form and worries greatly that her full dragon form will hurt those she cares about. It doesn't help that the first time she awakened her full dragon form early on in the series, she almost caused everyone to die.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: Was taught to fight from a young age and is the Martial Artist Dragon Girl (MAD G) of the crew.
  • Berserk Button: Implying that she is in no condition to fight frustrates her to no end.
  • Conditioned to Accept Horror: Thanks to her cruel and abusive upbringing, she is somewhat desensitized to violence and has trouble realizing that not everyone is as used to horrific situations as her.
  • Conspicuous Gloves: She used to wear large gloves to hide her draconic claws when she was on the run.
  • Cool Sword: Late in the series, after the crew killed Void Cop Zoro, Pearl was given one of his Black Blades named Uchu. To add extra cool points, she lights the katana on fire with her dragon breath to fire red hot searing slices.
  • Cute Bruiser: Is a cute dragon princess and will kick your ass in a straight up fight.
  • The Determinator: Always willing to fight even if she is already at her limits. The Timber Lord battle firmly cemented her as one.
  • Dude Magnet: Pearl has her fair share of admirers.
    • Cyril has had a crush on her ever since he knew her.
    • Louis considers her very beautiful, possibly even on par with Cleo. Though luckily he has not simped for her.
    • Grossly, Trash Boy considers her pretty.
    • Richie thinks her fighting style is too brutish for someone as pretty as her.
    • Ragnar acknowledges that she is attractive (though he thinks her mom would be hotter).
  • Hard-Drinking Party Girl: Can handle almost as much alcohol as Ragnar.
  • Hidden Depths: Enjoys literature and has a knack for writing. She is also musically gifted and can rap on the fly.
  • Horned Humanoid: Her distinctive trademark look is the curved horns on top of her head.
  • I Am a Monster: For the longest time she thought that she was cursed with a monstrous being inside of her before learning how Devil Fruits worked.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: She was fed corpses by her father ever since she was little and has ever since had cannibalistic tendencies. She is ashamed of it and sees it as a disgusting addiction. Though when sufficiently angered will start biting her enemies.
  • Ms. Exposition: When the Player Characters need information or to figure out what’s going on, Pearl is usually the one to remind them.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Is horrified when she saw that she almost killed her companions in her full dragon form in a berserk fury.
    • She blames herself for Cyril running off in the middle of Blue Blood’s territory since she was insensitive enough to tell him that the crew knew the whole context of why he lost his arm. All with a smile on her face.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: She can turn into a large, fire breathing dragon. But since she cannot control her full Dragon form (and is an NPC), she will never be stronger than the PCs. It’s a huge sore spot for her.
  • Self-Made Orphan: Her mother died giving birth to her and at the end of the Tarako Kingdom arc, she personally kills her cruel father.
  • Ship Tease: Her and Cyril have been frequently teased together. Though Cyril’s feeling have been much more obvious, there have been some hints that the attraction is mutual.
    • Unlike most of the crew, she has never chided him for his more merciful nature, even if it is not very pirate-like.
    • William frequently sends the two off together on activities and she has yet to complain about it to him.
    • Though she has joked about her cannibalistic tendencies with the crew in a self-deprecating manner, when people bring it up with Cyril around, she acts much more embarrassed about it.
    • Is quick to gently calm Cyril down when he gets into a panic. Such as when they learned Arzen was still alive or when Cyril was suffering from PTSD after Chronograd.
    • When on the chopping block after being beaten by Seraph, Pearl was still analyzing to herself why Cyril ran off after she told him the truth about the loss of his arm. It could have possibly been one of the last things she was thinking about before she was narrowly rescued.
    • Is more physically affectionate with Cyril than with anybody else on the crew, having hugged him multiple times and the two having held hands on several occasions.
    • Got uncharacteristically flustered when William called her and Cyril’s day at the carnival a date and immediately refused to give details about it. And despite the teasing, she still decided to get Boba Tea and watch a play with Cyril.
    • By the epilogue 4-5 years later, the two now live together in the Tarako Kingdom as an official couple and even had a infant child together. Their child is actually Koby according to Rustage.
  • Token Flyer: For the longest time until William improved his Geppo, she was the only crewmate who could fly.
  • Took a Level in Cheerfulness: Was cold, aloof and cynical until she gradually warmed up to the crew.
  • Tyke Bomb: Was fed her devil fruit as a baby and was trained to become a weapon for her father in order to secure his power.
  • Undying Loyalty: Of all the Devil’s Luck Non-Player Characters, she has firmly stated her loyalty to the crew the most. Also despite having more than one chance to leave the crew and return to her life as a princess, she chose to stay.
  • Waif-Fu: She is rather short but is quick with her martial art attacks and defeats many foes bigger than her throughout the campaign.
  • Warrior Princess: Her father had her taught how to fight all her life and has fought alongside the crew in nearly every big battle they’ve had. She used her skills to liberate her people from her father’s tyranny.
  • Weredragon: She ate the Dragon Dragon Fruit, Model: Western Dragon, a powerful Mythical Zoan fruit. This fruit gives her powerful wings, claws and teeth as well as the ability to breathe fire.

    Gravy
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/th3uxbc.jpg
The Boar
A consistently mellow, chubby middle-aged man with a special talent for cooking. Quite literally poached by the Devil's Luck Pirates from a random marine ship they finished raiding, making him into the ship's Cook and the second NPC member of the Crew.

In reality, Gravy is not just any regular man - but indeed, one of the Eight Flames, a member of a cult of elite assasins for hire with their own familiar animals, though Gravy long forsaked that life and does not wish to go back to his assasin days.

  • Actual Pacifist: Swore to never hurt a human ever again and refuses to take a life. Though robots are fair game.
  • Acrofatic: Though quite rotund, he was a former assassin and he still has his quick reflexes.
  • Almighty Janitor: Is the crew’s chef and usually stays out of adventuring and fighting. But he knows how to defend himself and is a very wise person.
  • Animal Motif: Pigs and Boars. He has a pet boar named Boris and once was known as “The Boar”.
  • The Beastmaster: Like all Eight Flames, he has an animal companion. His is Boris, a boar who has eaten a gravy logia. Unlike the other animal companions, Boris was not experimented on in any way, merely given a devil fruit.
  • Big Eater: Not only does he love cooking food, he loves to eat a lot of food too.
  • Bully Magnet: He was bullied a lot when he was younger. He began cooking to get rid of all the negativity in his life.
  • Doesn't Like Guns: Is not a fan of using weapons due to his non-violent life. Even when he was known as The Boar, he was not known to use any firearms.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Was a violent assassin once, but has since changed his ways and prefers a gentle life.
  • Humble Hero: Is quite a powerful fighter in his own right, but prefers to just support his crew with his cooking.
  • I Hate Past Me: Looks back at his assassin days with great shame. He also doesn’t like how the other Flames are either nervous and/or in awe of The Boar and his skills.
  • Mellow Fellow: Is very relaxed and it’s hard to make him feel any sort of panic. He even greeted the crew warmly despite them just killing the marines he was working under.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Though Gravy regrets most of his actions as The Boar, he especially regrets assassinating his final mark Pellet. It was traumatizing enough to make him forsake the assassin life.
  • Nice Guy: Is a jolly All-Loving Hero who just wants to make people smile with his cooking. He is polite to almost everyone he meets, does not criticize anyone at all and just wants the crew to be happy. He also made it his mission in life to make sure nobody around him has an empty stomach if he can help it.
  • Non-Action Guy: He can fight if he chose to, but would rather just stay on the ship and cook for the crew once they return from whatever shenanigans they were up to.
  • Out of Character Is Serious Business: When The Eight Flames or any other part of his past is brought up, he becomes very quiet and nervous.
    • When the crew confronted a man who was cooking humans to sell for consumption, Gravy sternly spoke of how cooking people is an insult to the art of cooking. Notably Pearl was in the same room at the time but he still chose to say how wrong cannibalism is even if it would make her feel bad about herself.
  • Older and Wiser: Is around a decade older than Ragnar and is very down to earth and insightful of the world around him.
  • Stronger Than They Look: When the crew first met Gravy, he seemed like a friendly (if a bit too relaxed) cook. Turns out, they were talking to one of the former strongest assassins in the Seas.
  • Supreme Chef: Is widely known by everyone who knows him as one of the best chefs around. He even was able to figure out Durosian cuisine with minimal effort. His meals puts anyone in a better mood.
  • The Symbiote: When ready for action, Boris goes into his gravy form and covers Gravy as if he was a second layer of skin. The two then fight in unison with both their power combined.

    Louis Le’cloque
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/k6z5olf.png
The Greatest Mime
A very French-like man that the crew rescues from a shipwreck once they arrive at the Grand Line, and the third NPC crewmember of the Devil's Luck pirates, acting as both doctor and musician. A skillful fencer, a lover of wine and baguette, and unapologetic simp, he's often subject to terrible luck, and French music of some type tends to play around him to signal his current mood.

He has an unnamed Paramecia Devil Fruit that allows him to control time in specific localized spots, giving him the ability to reverse wounds - though not death itself.

  • Butt-Monkey: If a joke is is going to be at the expense of one of the Devil’s Luck NPCs, it’s usually going to be Louis at the butt of the joke. His initial bounty was also only a mere 20 Berries.
  • Camp Straight: Has some flamboyant mannerisms but is very much attracted to women. Sadly women aren’t too attracted to him.
  • Cheese-Eating Surrender Monkeys: Though no Dirty Coward, he would rather not risk his life needlessly and tends to worry quite a lot about his personal safety when out adventuring or fighting.
  • Combat Medic: Though no doctor, his devil fruit being able to rewind recent wounds make him the ideal medic in the crew during combat. Especially since he rewinds all damage taken that round. He can also fight if need be with his…
  • Cool Sword: The Bonaparte. A unique rapier with small guns on its hilt to inflict extra damage with. It was taken from the body of the Future Louis from an alternate future. It used to be known as the Napoleon but was renamed so as not to confuse the sword with Big Mom’s sword.
  • Cowardly Lion: Louis is more reluctant to get himself into danger than most of the other crewmates, but he will never surrender if his crew’s lives are on the line and has dedicated his life to the Devil’s Luck Pirates. He also fought against Soldi (a Yonko Commander) even when he had no chance of winning.
  • Fish out of Temporal Water: He subconsciously jumped decades into the future to escape his brother Arrbor. And as seen by his future self and other Louis’s, this is a powerful ability from his Devil Fruit.
  • Healer Signs On Early: First shows up in Episode 9 and his rewinding abilities have saved the lives of his friends multiple times.
  • Left the Background Music On: Provides a lot of background music as the Musician of the crew. Though sometimes French music plays without him even playing music somehow.
  • Maurice Chevalier Accent: He has ze stereotypical French accent - though since France doesn't exist in the One Piece world, he claims that his accent is the result of a 'genetical speech impairment'.
  • Only One Finds It Fun: The only crew mate who truly finds joy in the art of miming. The rest of the crew (minus Gravy) cannot stand it.
  • Sacrificial Lion: He was one of the most important NPC crewmates on board and his abilities saved the crew on multiple occasions. He had also been in the series for over 50 episodes. His death by Blueblood’s hands is the greatest loss the Devil’s Luck Pirates ever had. He is still greatly missed by the crew.
  • Time Master: Has an unnamed time-based fruit that allows for a degree of time manipulation. Though it is tiring to do repeatingly to too far back.
    • Time Rewind Mechanic: Though he has an easier time reversing objects, he can revert someone or something back to the state it was before (the more recent the easier it is). This can heal wounds, revert objects to the sum of their parts, can put liquids back into their container (even if drunk) and can even send away creatures summoned by foes.
  • Younger Than He Looks: His naturally white hair and thick moustache makes him look like a middle-aged man at the best of times, but he's actually in his 20's.
  • Weak, but Skilled: He has arguably one of the most potentially broken Devil Fruits in One Piece, but his physical abilities leave something to be desired compared to most foes the Devil’s Luck Pirates faced. Though he is no complete pushover and is integral support to the crew during the fights he participates in.

    Florence
Florence is a Marine Seamen Recruit the Devil’s Luck Pirates captured after a clash with the Marines on the first island they visited on the Grand Line. He was forcefully made to tag along with the crew as they went off to fight The Timber Lord. But through Gravy he found inner peace.

Though not a strong person in any sense, Florence has a talent for building small machines and handy gadgets.

  • Bald Mystic: Upon reaching an inner peace of sorts with Gravy during the Timber Lord Saga, he shaved his head and chooses to go around shirtless. He also became much more calm and serene upon his change in look.
  • Bring My Brown Pants: He was prone to pissing his pants.
"You know how a human body is like 70% water? I think mine's gone right down to 60%."
  • Butt-Monkey: He is taken by the crew against his will, is ignored by Trevor (his one chance at being rescued), constantly pisses himself. Then soon after he gains some resolve, he dies. At least he died content.
  • The Drag-Along: Brought along with the crew on a whim and mostly just stayed on the ship. Though he later proves to be of some worth by creating some mechanical trinkets for Verona.
  • Forgotten Fallen Friend: After his death and funeral, the crew sort of more or less forgot about him. His death by Cleo’s hand was used more as an excuse to kill her rather than actually anything truly all that personal.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Was smart enough to make small robots and trinkets, such as a mechanical bird.
  • Sacrificial Lamb: His death is abrupt, offscreen and leaves little impact to the crew.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: He later accepts his role as a Devil’s Luck Pirate and finds peace within himself. But soon after is killed by Cleo.

    Cyril
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/zsfeucw.png
The Water Boy
A good-hearted but low-ranking Marine working under Captain Verona. A cruel twist of fate involving an animated hand created by Verona resulted in Vice Admiral Arzen tearing the poor boy’s arm off on a whim. Luckily he managed to eat a very powerful Logia and through chaotic circumstances, he ended up defecting from the Marines and joined the Devil’s Luck Pirates.

Cyril ate the Water Water Fruit (coincidentally the Devil Fruit Boss stole from Tarako), which allows him to control and become water. With this fruit he intends to do his best to make the world a better place.

  • An Arm and a Leg: His left arm was torn off by his superior Vice Admiral Arzen for something he had no control over.
  • Berserk Button: Though a gentle and kind soul otherwise, there are actions that will seriously tick him off.
    • Needlessly killing people, especially those at the DLP’s mercy will cause him to call out the killer quite harshly.
    • Being abused by his superior himself, he considers those who abuse and kill their own underlings to be unforgivable.
    • Trying to kill Pearl will get him to attack whoever tries, no matter who they are.
  • Blue Is Heroic: Is heavily associated with the color blue and is one of the most unambiguously heroic characters in the campaign. It’s also the color of water fittingly.
  • Break the Cutie: His arm was torn right off, he abandoned his past life and he has seen enough horror and death to give him PTSD.
  • Bully Magnet: Some of the other marines used to bully him and give him no respect. But even then, Cyril still had those he cared about at G-4 according to him. One of the reasons he decided to kill Arzen because was worried that they would be less safe with Arzen alive.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: He has trouble expressing his true feelings to Pearl. The fact that he finds fighting a Yonko less scary than confessing how he feels to her speaks volumes.
  • Cowardly Lion: Is openly terrified of the obstacles the crew faces but knows that some evil needs to be taken down by force. He also still fights even when he knows how much weaker he is than the enemy.
  • Elmuh Fudd Syndwome: He has rhotacism and lambdacism, so he frequently uses W’s instead of R’s and L’s. He seems to have more issues with R sounds than L’s, usually being more accurate with L’s unless stressed.
  • Expy: He is frequently compared to One Piece’s Koby in character and demeanor. Very fitting since Rustage confirmed that Cyril is actually Koby’s father.
  • For Great Justice: He seeks to make the world a better place and get rid of any corruption he can. Abandoning his navy life to become a pirate did not change that dream at all. In fact, it gives him more freedom to do what he strives for.
  • Handicapped Badass: Got his entire left arm torn off less than a year ago, is on zero painkillers and still chooses to fight alongside his friends.
  • Hazy-Feel Turn: He left the marines for the pirate life. His morals have not changed all that much.
  • Heroic BSoD: When Pearl casually told him the reason he was invited onto the crew was because they felt partially responsible for his arm getting torn off and felt guilty, he has a breakdown and runs off while in enemy territory.
  • Keeping the Handicap: After the Blueblood Saga, he has more pride in his missing limb. He even said more than once if given the chance to regrow his arm he wouldn’t.
  • Making a Splash: He ate the Mizu Mizu no Mi, the Water Logia. In a world where most of the planet is just islands, this is insanely powerful.
    • Artificial Limb: He frequently uses his powers to create a water arm for himself. The limb is very well detailed for a recent logia user.
    • Bubble Gun: He is able to create a bubble around either objects or his foes to trap them.
    • Man of Kryptonite: He is a water logia. The main weakness of Devil Fruit users is water. You do the math.
    • Not Quite Flight: Can use jets of water to fly in the air for short distances or extend his leaps.
  • Missing Mom: Cyril’s mother died in her bed, possibly from some sort of sickness. He was the only one by her bedside when she passed on.
  • Morality Pet: A lot of Cyril’s crewmates try to take his feelings into account when doing regular pirate things. This has led to them frequently trying more non-violent solutions when dealing with problems. To mixed results.
  • Nice Guy: Is a very compassionate young man who seeks to make the world a better place. He tries to see the best in most people and is always polite to others. And though he sometimes gets upset with the crew, he never gets spiteful about disagreeing with them on certain things. Anybody who truly knows him never really has anything bad to say about him.
    • Though his good hearted nature is deconstructed a bit. Because of his gentle nature, he is frequently pushed around by people since he lives in a world where might makes right. His trusting nature also makes him look over other people’s flaws, resulting in him being quite naive in some situations.
  • Oxymoronic Being: Cyril ate a Water Logia Devil Fruit. As far as anyone knows, Cyril is just as likely to drown/be weakened by water as any other Devil Fruit user. Thankfully, this doesn’t include his own body when he turns into water.
    • Though oddly, when Jester sent a puppet of Cyril to kill him, it was able to hide within the water. Whether that is because the puppet copies Jester makes lacks the weakness of Devil Fruit users or the Water Water Fruit somehow lacks the standard Devil Fruit weakness to water remains to be seen.
  • Plagued by Nightmares: He has been having nightmares about the things he has seen in Chronograd. His memory of his mutilation at Arzen’s hands is also still fresh in his mind.
  • Prone to Tears: Frequently cries and is very emotional. Though many of the things he cries about are very valid reasons to cry. Being a water logia, his tears can create quite a watery mess.
  • Prongs of Poseidon: Wields a trident that originally belonged to Helios. It is of Durosian origin and is of an unknown metal. Lyssa later modified it to be retractable in order for him to be able to carry it easier.
  • Redemption Promotion: Was a low ranking and mistreated marine who was only promoted to Warrant Officer because of his newly acquired Devil Fruit. But now Cyril is an integral part of the Devil’s Luck pirates and is now more confident than ever before.
  • Ship Tease: Has had a crush on Pearl for the longest time and it is quite obvious to most people. The two are quite close and even in a non-romantic way are very important to one another. The two eventually get together by the Epilogue.
  • Significant Wardrobe Shift: After defeating his puppet self in the episode 56 end story, Cyril took off his marine uniform and tossed it into the sea. He also now keeps his hair in a ponytail.
  • The Dog Bites Back: Shot an Aqua Pump straight through Arzen’s heart. Arzen tore off Cyril’s arm for the pettiest of reasons only hours before so Arzen’s demise was quite cathartic.
  • Thou Shall Not Kill: Cyril values life and would rather not kill people. Though he understands that sometimes killing is the only way even if he doesn’t like it. The only people he felt zero remorse for trying to kill was Arzen (for his abuse), Clay (for killing his own men) and Blueblood (who just uses his great power solely to hurt others).
    • Cyril has now officially killed a member of the Void Police named Sonata. If Arzen is not counted, this will technically be the first time he killed a person in the campaign.
  • Willfully Weak: His gentle disposition means he is holding himself back from his fruit’s fullest and most gruesome potential. He is not ever willingly going to be a Person of Mass Destruction even if his fruit has the potential to sink entire islands. A more vicious/psychotic user of the Mizu Mizu no Mi could easily kill countless people with the ocean alone.

    Lyssa
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/qgu7ta3.png
The Brave Mechanic
A genius engineer from Planet Duros who assisted the Devil’s Luck Pirates when they were trapped in the unfamiliar land. The rulers of the planet arrested her grandfather for trying to make a spaceship, so she seeks the help of the crew to bust him out of prison.

Lyssa handles most of the more technological stuff with the crew, using her skills to build whatever is needed at the moment. And though not much of a fighter, she is still an important part of the crew.

  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: Fell for Verona. Though he is a good guy underneath his cold exterior, he is a ruthless man who has amassed quite the kill count during the campaign.
  • Brave Scot: Has a Scottish accent and though not much of a fighter, still does all she can to help the crew. Even if it requires her to enter enemy territory with them.
  • Character Catchphrase: “If You Can Change Your Fate, Would You?” Just like in Brave.
    • Subverted Catchphrase: Prone to messing around with her catchphrase, especially if it’s to say she wouldn’t (if content) or definitely would (if in danger).
    • Verbal Tic: Prone to repeating her catchphrase when nervous or sometimes when not having any idea what to say
  • Damsel in Distress: Is captured by Big Top and used as a bargaining chip to get the DLP to keep the status quo of The Oasis. The crew save her instead.
  • The Engineer: Makes the majority of the crew’s stuff. From hot air balloons to bombs to even robots. As long as she has materials, she can probably make something useful to the situation at hand.
    • The Blacksmith: Is able to make bombs, bullets and modify weapons (such as Cyril’s trident).
    • Gadgeteer Genius: Knows all about various technological doo-dads and the tech she is new too she is quick to figure out.
    • Homemade Inventions: With a dose of MacGyvering. She usually has no access to a true lab and a budget of nil, but what she can make in the time she is given usually works well enough for the situation at hand.
    • Magic Potion: Not “Magic” per se, but she has created a substance capable of healing wounds that she simply calls potions.
    • Ms. Fixit: Is in charge of fixing anything broken the crew finds. And as long as she has time and materials, she’ll likely succeed.
    • Wrench Wench: Wouldn’t take being called a “wench” very well but she is a bright young woman who is an ace at mechanics and is confident in her works. She can even make a rocket that leaves orbit in roughly less than a month.
  • Hand Cannon: When needing to defend herself, she wields a pistol with a variety of bullets, such as burning bullets or bullets that stun.
  • Love Confession: She admits to Verona in episode 60 that she loves him. Though Verona ends up not hearing it since he loses consciousness after taking two punches from a Yonko.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: Has a retractable shield that she occasionally uses.
  • Morality Pet: To Verona. After meeting her, Verona has begun to make efforts to be more approachable to others and he always welcoming of her presence.
  • Nice Girl: Her best friend on Planet Duros is a Sterran named Happy. Keep in mind Sterrans were seen as inferior beings. She saw him as an equal. She’s also very approachable, welcoming and understanding of others’ issues. She also looks at who people are on the inside, even when their outward appearances are scary/ugly. The only times she wouldn’t approach someone is when she is nervous to approach them or they are outwardly malicious.
  • Official Couple: With Verona by the epilogue. They are still together 10 years after the campaign and run a shop together.
  • Plucky Girl: Is an upbeat girl who refuses to give into fear and overwhelming odds.
  • Raised by Grandparents: Was raised by her grandfather Aurelius after her parents were executed. She seemed to have learned a lot of her engineering skills from him.
  • Ship Tease: Quickly develops an attraction to Verona upon meeting him and makes an effort to get to know him. She also does not mind his scarring and is sympathetic to his dark past. She tries to interact and hang out with Verona every chance she has.
  • Significant Green-Eyed Redhead: She is the first red haired woman seen in the campaign and she possesses bright green eyes.
  • Support Party Member: Not much of a fighter compared to the rest of the cast but her technological prowess is invaluable on the crew. If necessary, she has a gun that can shoot out special bullets though.
  • You Killed My Parents: Both of her parents were executed by Emperor Dominius. It was initially going to be just her being killed but her parents volunteered in her stead. Because of her loss, she was more than willing to fight alongside the crew to take him down.

    Heali
Heali is a machine that was created by Lyssa from one of V’s robots. As his name implies, he has syringes that can heal people. He is also named after the late Helios.
  • Artificial Intelligence: Heali has been demonstrated to be able to think for himself and the crew likewise mostly treats him as a person. He is even referred to and refers to himself in masculine pronouns.
  • Cherry Tapping: Did a small punch that did 1 point of damage to Memory Arzen. He exploded.
  • Cute Machines: Is a small compact robot that can be carried around like a backpack.
  • Dodgy Toupee: Has a wig that was made to appear very similarly to Helios’s hair. It’s pretty obvious that it’s a wig.
  • Grew Beyond Their Programming: Though mostly a robot made to assist the crew, Heali has displayed a sense of individuality and personality unlike most of V’s machines.
  • Just a Machine: Played with. He is treated like a crewmate and the crew (especially Ragnar) try to keep him “alive”. But Pearl has stated that since he is a machine that can be rebuilt, she wouldn’t go into a draconic frenzy if he gets destroyed.
  • The Medic: Is able to restore the crew’s hit points with a special healing serum. Usually for 14 HP.
  • Replacement Goldfish: To Helios. After Helios’s untimely death, the crew filled the void in their hearts with Heali. His name is very similar and his wig is meant to imitate Helios’s hair.
  • Robo Speak: Speaks in a stereotypically robotic monotone voice.
  • Robot Buddy: A robot who assists the crew in any way he can.
  • Robo Romance: Fell in love with another robot named Hurtie. Though Hurtie never really acknowledged Heali’s existence and William imagined that any relationship between the two would have ended up becoming toxic. Though since both robots identify as male, his love for Hurtie does confirm Heali to be not straight.
  • Satellite Character: Though he has his own quirks and a mind of his own, Heali tends to stick around Lyssa and can be seen as an extension of her abilities and technological prowess.
  • Shipper on Deck: Is supportive of Lyssa’s crush on Verona in his own way, even asking him if he thought she was attractive (to her annoyance).
  • Silicon Snarker: Heali is very passive aggressive to Ragnar, especially since he is usually the one Heali has to heal. He also shows quite the dislike of Trevor as well (though Trevor was rude to him first).
  • Super Mode: He supposedly has a kill mode programmed in case Verona gets seriously injured or killed. Sadly we never got to see it.
  • Token Robot: A sentient robot is rare in the One Piece world. A robot pirate is even rarer.
  • We Can Rebuild Him: Helios V1 was destroyed in by Arzen. Lyssa rebuilt him as Helios V2 afterwards.

    Jimmy
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jimmy_7.png
Our Favorite Pizza Knight
A regular guy the Devil’s Luck Pirates picked up in The Oasis that they took a liking to. He is abnormally lucky for being just a (more or less) regular person recruited be part of a grand adventure.
  • Alien Blood: Has blue blood just like his father.
  • All Just a Dream: The entire Coal Town OVA took place in his dreams. He’s an oddly vivid dreamer.
  • Character Catchphrase: “I’m Jimmy over here!”. He also tends to say his “over here” phrase frequently in other sentences, such as how he’s feeling or what he’s doing.
  • The Ditz: He doesn’t exactly seem to be all there upstairs and doesn’t fully seem to grasp how out of his element he really is most of the time.
  • Every Pizza Is Pepperoni: Is a fan of pizza and the pizza knight armor he gain in episode 52 has prominent pepperoni on it.
  • Fedora of Asskicking: Averted. Jimmy wears a fedora, but he is far from powerful and actually kinda sucks as a fighter (compared to the rest of the crew at least). In fact, many of the New World enemies could kill him in one blow.
  • The Fool: He has regular minion stats but somehow ended up in the new world. He also somehow managed to damage his father (a Yonko). Anyone else in his shoes would be dead by now. His rolls in combat also tend to be abnormally lucky despite his lack of fighting skills. He also ends up being allowed to open the chest containing the One Piece.
  • Heroic Bastard: A son of Blueblood’s but like most of his children, seen as more of a drug product than an individual. Jimmy seeks to end his father’s cruelties.
  • The Gunslinger: Gunslinger is pushing it but he does prefer using a firearm. The crew encourages him to stick with ranged attacks since he would be quickly slaughtered otherwise.
  • Memetic Badass: An In-Universe example. He is hyped up by William and Ragnar as potentially the greatest, most awesome pirate ever. He is not.
  • Neighbourhood-Friendly Gangsters: Was a low-rank gangster in the Oasis, though he’s not really much of a crook and mostly did what he was told to do.
  • Large Ham: Tends to loudly state his catchphrase and verbal tic to everyone who can hear.
  • Mook: Has standard minion stats. After defeating a demon train in his dreams, he (somehow) got stronger. Now he has 21 instead of 11 HP. If even most minions ever paid attention to him, he would be dead by now.
  • Rambunctious Italian: Has a stereotypical New York Italian accent and is very talkative and plucky.
  • Ridiculously Average Guy: He is only just above an average civilian in stats. How he is not dead after all the stuff he’s been through is a mystery. He also doesn’t really have any unique skills and the one truly interesting trait he has (his blue blood) is also shared with Doxie (his half sister).
  • Unfazed Everyman: Sort of up for anything regardless of how dangerous it is.
  • Verbal Tic: Frequently adds nonsense words like “bada-bing” or “babada boopy” into his vocabulary.

    Little Ricky
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/3daef427_fccc_45c2_a986_345008d0f02d.png
The Itty Bitty Accountant
A 5-inch tall man hatched from an egg created from Slots, Little Ricky joined the team as the crew accountant. Being tiny, he can’t really get in fights, but he helps around the ship as best as he can (especially finances).
  • Ambiguously Human: He was hatched from an egg from a Slot Machine Devil Fruit and is 5 inches tall. His existence is an anomaly but he otherwise appears like a regular human.
  • Berserk Button: Do not insult Slots. He views the man as his father and he will not tolerate his name being disrespected.
  • Book Smart: Is incredibly smart and a wiz at accounting despite only recently being born.
  • Boring, but Practical: His position as an accountant/treasurer of the Devil’s Luck Pirates is not exactly exciting. But Little Ricky’s job is very important with checking the crew’s funds, tracking inventory as well as helping to organize the ship.
  • Born as an Adult: Despite being recently born, he already looks like he’s in his 30s.
  • Dead Guy Junior: Named after the Player Character’s first captain, Rick D. Astley. Rick was not amused.
  • Lilliputians: Is less than half a foot tall. Roughly around the size of a One Piece Dwarf (if not slightly smaller).
  • Non-Action Guy: Being so tiny and focusing on accounting, he is definitely no fighter and he knows it.
  • Whale Egg: To reiterate, he is a 5 inch tall human hatched from an egg created by a man’s slot machine based Devil Fruit. Trying to make sense of it is futile.
  • White Collar Worker: He does accounting and loves his job. Even less than a minute old he knew the business was booming.

The Knife Gremlin
A young teenage thief found and rescued by the crew soon after they entered the New World. She lived on the streets most of her life and is cynical of much of the world around her. She’s hiding from her father’s forces. She forms a sort of father-daughter bond with William of all people.

She is a very capable thief and an extremely swift and agile member of the crew. She is also extremely talented with knives (both for stabbing and throwing).

  • Alien Blood: Like Jimmy, her blood is blue. A sign that she is a child of the Yonko Blue Blood.
  • The Artful Dodger: She’s a sneaky and crafty young thief who is very good at robbing others.
  • Berserk Button: She has two things that she cannot stand.
    • She is very vocal about her dislike of religion and gets very upset about it being mentioned. This stems from her mother Archbishop Seraph.
    • The upper class. She sees them as uncaring snobs who sneer at the poor masses as best shown on Ragnar Island. Her father King Blue Blood also looks down in those less fortunate.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: Is a mouthy little brat on first impression and has a lot of attitude.
  • Conditioned to Accept Horror: She saw a lot of cruelty and death in her life. So violence and even killing are just a part of life to her. She’s not as willing to kill as William but will do it if need be or if she’s properly pissed off.
  • Devious Daggers: Is very sneaky and sly so she prefers to use light weapons such as knives. She would go for any knives to stab with or throw from a distance. From kitchen knives to combat knives to seeking to obtain even a space knife.
  • Don't You Dare Pity Me!: She doesn’t like people pitying her for being a poor little orphan girl. She also notably agitated when the group try to console her after they kill her mother.
  • Five-Finger Discount: Is an expert thief and is almost as stealthy as William. If a Non-Player Character gets to join William in sneaking into a secured location, it will probably be Doxie.
  • Had to Be Sharp: Being homeless, poor and on the run from her father meant that she needed to become strong, quick and smart or else she was a goner.
  • Hates Their Parent: Hates both her parents Blue Blood and Seraph for their atrocities and abuse not just to her, but their horrible crimes against her countless half siblings.
  • Heartwarming Orphan: Though quite a bit prickly at first, she found a home with the Devil’s Luck Pirates. William even adopted her as his daughter. Years later in the epilogue, they still do heists together.
  • Heroic Bastard: Is the daughter of Yonko Blue Blood and his archbishop/concubine Seraph and seeks to end both their reigns of terror.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Doxie’s snappy, has an attitude and is a bit of a kleptomaniac. But she cares about the needy and hates the injustices the rich inflict on the poor. She’s also a loyal ally once you gain her trust.
  • Little Miss Badass: Is only 14 and is just a capable as Pearl, Louis and Cyril if not more in some areas. This can be attributed to not only her background as a thief but her parents being a Yonko and one of his Commanders.
  • Lost Orphaned Royalty: She is actually the daughter of Blue Blood and his Archbishop Seraph. Because of her background, she was seen as somewhat different than the other bastards of Blueblood. Seraph even gave her the name Doxian, implying that she was meant for more than just to be processed into drugs to sell before she ran off. Even still, Blue Blood is more than willing to outright kill her for defying him.
  • Lovable Rogue: An adorable little scamp who plays a rogue just as well if not better than William.
  • MsExposition: Provides a lot of the info about how The New World works, Ragnar IV’s business and about her father Blue Blood.
  • Morality Pet: William has a soft spot for her, seeing a lot of himself in her. This leads to him inviting Doxie onto the crew and adopting her as his daughter. He even sees her a second in command of the Devil’s Luck Pirates (to everyone else’s bewilderment).
  • Self-Applied Nickname: Her birth name is Doxian but she prefers to be known as Doxie.
  • Self-Made Orphan: She helped the Devil’s Luck Pirates kill both of her parents. Both Seraph and Blue Blood REALLY had it coming.
  • Lady Swears A Lot: Has quite the colorful language which he freely uses at anyone within earshot.
  • Stock British Phrases: Uses a lot of British slang in her vocabulary such as “wanker” and “knobhead”.
  • Street Smart: Living on the streets for a long time has taught her a lot of skills most would not know about otherwise.
  • Street Urchin: Has been living on the streets for a long time with no home to her name before the crew met her.
  • Supernatural Martial Arts: Has learned Rokushiki from William by the time of the extended epilogue Tekking made.
  • Tsundere: Is insulting and rude to those she doesn’t like but is compassionate to the downtrodden and needy (such as the poor on Ragnar island).
    • She’s especially this to William in a father/daughter way. She messes with him a lot more than others but still looks up to him and cares a lot about him. She also very much cherishes the time she is with him even if she doesn’t admit it.
  • You’re Not My Parents: Hates both of her parents with a passion. She hates her mother Seraph so much that she claims that her mother died in various ways to people who ask her about her parents.

The Agonized Mentor
A master thief born with the name Jason Locksworth, he raised an infant William as his own child after killing his parents in a panic. Raising William to be a thief like him, they eventually separated after a heist. Eventually, Trevor (William’s older brother) captured Boss and while in G-4 was experimented on by Vice Admiral Arzen.

Though in no condition to fight, he has taught the Player Characters about Haki and Rokushiki. Other than that, he usually needs to be kept away from combat. The Devil’s Luck pirates are searching for a way to fix him back before he was mutilated.

  • Artificial Animal People: Arzen crudely grafted several animal parts onto this body. At least a few of these animal body parts came from Fishmen or Minks.
    • Artificial Gill: He was given gills on his neck. Whether these would actually help him breathe underwater or just cosmetic is unknown. If the former, Arzen must have done serious work on his respiratory system.
    • Panthera Awesome: His hands were replaced with tiger-like limbs. Possibly from an unfortunate member of the Mink Tribe.
    • Rhino Rampage: Has a rhino horn surgically attached to his forehead as well.
    • Winged Humanoid: He got two large bird wings grafted onto his back. One black and the other white. He can fly with them somewhat but it is extremely painful and tiring to do so.
  • Body Horror: Vice Admiral Arzen altered his body in ways man was never supposed to. Even his organs are failing him and his body is beginning to fall apart. It has been stated that if it wasn’t for Boss being a naturally tough guy, he would be long dead by now.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Has a pretty dry sense of humor. He’s even able to be somewhat witty while in utter agony.
  • Friends with Benefits: Gets into this kind of relationship Oasis Casino Don Roulette. She’s attracted to his animal parts. Though after his grafts are reversed, Boss comments that Roulette probably won’t be all that interested in him anymore.
  • Gentleman Thief: More lower class than most examples, but Boss is a thief with a sense of fair play who steals for both thrills and to put snobs in their place. He even has a calling card.
  • My Greatest Failure: Killing William and Trevor’s parents in a panic was the biggest mistake of his life and he understands fully why Trevor despises him. This leads him to try becoming an atoner of sorts, trying to turn over a new leaf and seeking to try and make up for the less savory actions from hos past.
  • The Nameless: Most people do not know his name, just calling him Boss. Even William did not know his true name until recently. His real name is Jason Locksworth (the named Trevor discovered early in the campaign).
    • I Have Many Names: Has used many aliases and identities throughout his life while doing heists.
  • Old Master: Is roughly around 50 or so and teaches the PCs the basics of Rokushiki and Haki. He also has taught William almost everything he knows.
  • Parental Substitute: He raised William as if he was his own child after killing his parents in a panic. It’s wasn’t the best life, but the two would be lying if they said they didn’t care for one another.
  • Scoundrel Code: Despite being a thief, he tries to keep a sense of honor.
    • He makes a point to only steal from those who are not needy.
    • He leaves a calling card for his targets to find.
    • He tries to refrain from killing during heists. Though maiming is fair game (such as when he shot a priest’s kneecaps).
  • Supernatural Martial Arts: He has both knowledge of Rokushiki and Haki. Though he mostly just knows the basics of both.
  • Throwing Off the Disability: The Fourth Brother used his time powers to restore Boss back to the condition he was 8 or so months ago. Boss is now back with his normal body parts and no longer in massive pain.
  • Tough Love: He was a bit rough with William when raising him. But when raising a kid in the criminal underworld, you cannot afford to be soft.
  • Your Days Are Numbered: The animal grafts will eventually kill him. It’s a miracle that he is even still alive. Thankfully it’s no longer a problem thanks to the Fourth Aeon.
