Trope Pantheons Discussion

Go To

Welcome to the Trope Pantheons thread! Please read the rules:

    Rules
Rules. The following are not suggestions or tips, but things that have to be followed:
  • When writing a profile, take note of the following:
    • Gods cannot be followers or high priests for obvious reasons. The 'gods' have ascended meaning there is no need for said character to be a follower of another if they have ascended.
    • No hype profiles, please. 'Hype Profiles' are profiles that have been made out of ongoing events and have not been around for a long time. This creates 'hype' due to popularity and certain elements either through certain scenes, memes, dramatic acting or considered overly awesome. They are not bad tropes but building a portfolio solely for that is a bad idea, as they do not say a thing about representing the trope best (unless it's those trope concepts that they are trying to embody for a long time)
      • You can see one if the profile is only showing off how awesome they are or suddenly pushing how 'significant' they are thanks to the just very recent events rather than respecting the longstanding good representations of the trope. And usually having... minimum portfolio or flavor texts and being a bit too generalized or self-contained to events from within their home series instead of interacting with other Pantheon members.
  • When posting in the forum, take note of the following:
    • When you suggest a God, please explain why they fit the trope. Not everyone is going to understand just "X should be the God of Y because they exemplify the trope" off the bat, especially if they're unfamiliar with the work.
    • You must use the Trope Pantheons discussion thread in the forums if you wish to add a new deity, story, something else of importance to the Trope Pantheon canon, or reworking an existing deity (be it simply improving their existing profile or changing their title).
      • For new and reworked deities, 3 [tup] means the profile will have a one week waiting period.
      • For new and reworked deities, 4 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 5 [tup] is an automatic ascension for new and reworked deities.
      • Speaking of reworks, for anyone that wants to improve such profiles, they have to review the current trope the character(s) has and see if it still holds up or if there is a better rep for their trope.
    • For adding new Treasures to The Great Treasury or new Dominions to the Dominions, the following rules apply:
      • For new Treasures or Dominions, 3 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 4 [tup] is an automatic addition to the Great Treasury or Dominions.
    • Do not repost a profile in the forums more than twice in a day if noticeable changes have not been made in between. If a profile is posted a third time in a row without noticeable alterations, it will be downvoted. This is so spamming of no-effort profiles is less frequent and to prevent tropers from getting aggravated seeing the same profile over and over. The minimum acceptable change has to be a single flavour text.
    • The Pantheon is not a mouthpiece for you to voice your opinions on certain characters. You may like certain characters more than others, but do not make the mistake of making profiles for characters you like look like Character Shilling.
    • Tropers new to the Pantheon are barred from approving or downvoting profiles until they have ascended at least two profiles.
    • Do not include fan reception in any profiles. It has nothing to do with the character themselves and will create unnecessary conflict.
    • Write a detailed explanation on why the character is the best candidate for deity of that trope. If people disagree with you, do not force it on the people.
    • Keep in mind that if you still want to try to find a trope for a particular character, you are only given three chances to find a particular trope for them. If a suggestion goes past three possible tropes, then it will come off as shoehorning a character into the Pantheon just for the sake of that character to be there.
      • On a related note, even if a character does have a free trope being suggested, there is still a limit of three attempts for suggesting that character for that trope. If no one responds to that certain proposal after being posted three times, then it will get to the point where the idea will be seen as being shoehorned into the Pantheon. In addition, the idea needs to be considered acceptable and approved because they are good, not for the sake of pitying others because no one is responding to their idea.
  • When posting Pantheon related stuff to the wiki, take note of the following:
    • Do not put a link to these Pantheon pages into the main wiki page. The moment you want to add in a main Characters page that the character is a God of this trope, do not do it. If you see leftovers of this practice, inform the forum and use the cutlist. This also goes to the Trivia page. The only exception to this rule is if a page in the Pantheon could be confused for a page in Main, like Good Colors, Evil Colors and Good and Evil Colors.
    • Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment ALSO applies here. Do not bring things that would incite fights, even if it is what is currently the hot topic and might be 'urgent'. For example, the political scene and some really bad politicians. We are not here to fight at each other, so don't suggest things that go to that direction, this is a fictional Pantheon after all.
    • To add a Pantheon page for a certain work, 4 or more characters coming from the same series/franchise should be ascended before adding the page. For Creator specific pages, 4 deities coming from the same creator and 2 individual work pages coming from the same creator is the minimum to warrant a page.
    • Do not create a trope page for a story until the story is fully completed.

    Instructions and Tips
Here are some tips one should keep in mind when editing:

  • Preparing to write:
    • First thing to do before present a profile is to go to the Trope Pantheons discussion thread. In the forums, you must discuss with other users on adding ideas and seek their approval with sound reasoning. You can also get some assistance in the forum thread by either asking for help and those interested asking if they can help. Submissions that are added without discussion are likely to be deleted and those who violate those rules by adding Pantheon content without discussion will get reported to the mods.
    • If you feel the need to remove a character for some reason (poor quality, outdated titles, etcetera) and replace him/her with another or outright rework, please see what the other tropers think about this in the discussion thread before doing anything hasty. Use good reasoning to see if your idea can easily replace the character present without drawing out your statement or giving too ambiguous claims most do not understand.
    • Please be sure to consult others in the discussion about what you want to work before making the profile. This is done to see if your proposal is the best representative and so, in case your profile is turned down, you do not waste time writing something that others might not find suitable.
      • In the same vein, if you adopt a profile from another troper, it is recommended that you make an announcement that you have done so on the discussion thread. More often than not, a trope that was reserved for something was given away to someone else. Check the Related tab on the top of a page to see if a trope or character has been reserved by a user.
    • If, for whatever reason, you are writing about a God who just happens to be a person in real life, just try to be very careful about what you decide to say. Do not try to make the editing seem too meta (self-referential) and use the aformentioned creativity to create hypothetical scenarios towards fictional characters.
  • When writing a profile for a character, here are a few things to note:
    • All deities should be sorted by their divine ranking. Put Overdeities on the top of the page and Quasideities on the bottom. Also be sure to add them in alphabetical order by their first/given name (can be reversed if it is Eastern ordered). For a group, if there is no official name for them all list down all their names by order of relevance or (if too long to list) title them as Insert Name Here Main Characters or some other identifiable title along the same lines.
    • The maximum number of tropes that a god can have is two, but do not try to abuse that fact. If you need to use a second trope to specify a certain thing about their position, that can be excused either because said character represents their trope choice very well alongside the first trope. It is still generally encouraged to only have one trope.
    • A trope can only belong to one profile at a time. The only time two profiles can share a trope is if there are explicit variations listed in the trope page proper (e.g. Muscle Angst is held by both Biscuit Krueger and Chihiro Fujisaki as the former represents "Too Much Muscle" and the latter represents "Not Enough Muscle")
    • If the character you are about to add to a House already exists in another, make sure to mention that this person has spots in other House as well. Up to 2 places can be made for a deity, with the sole exceptions being those at the Main House to highlight those characters’ importance to the Pantheon’s lore.
    • For a character's theme song, try to avoid calling it "Theme of God X" or "Theme of (Show where God X originates from)". If possible, try to find out if the song has an actual name through research. Most importantly, it has to be part their series’ official soundtracks from media. Do not list songs that are made by fans or outside sources. If they were not specifically used as music for that specific character, then they do not count. Furthermore, it has to be a general theme specifically made for that characters’ appearances, not some generic music that plays for many other instances not related to the character in question.
    • For images, when adding an image for your chosen character, it is highly recommended to use a stylized image that embodies the character or renders that also highlights a character’s behavior (such as cool poses). Most images should be from the main adaptations of the character, unless the images from the other media are of a higher quality than the adaptation. Unless it is needed, do not use fanart for images. If you are, please attribute to the original artist. Due to the website’s dark mode, removing white backgrounds from an image is paramount. This website is suggested to do the background removal. If an image you have takes up too much bytes, it is suggestible to use this site to reduce the byte size. If the byte is still too big, put the compressed image to other sites (or even the same one) to compress even further. Use wikias to look for better images, as even wikias for the series might not contain good official images.
    • Creativity is your friend. While it is not recommended to get too ditzy at your ideas, it is best that when writing a profile for a certain character, do you think of capable scenarios between X and Y. Tip: do not use shallow examples (X wields a sword and Y wields one too) and try to think of relationships that makes sense (i.e those characters that are shout-outs for another).
  • Pantheon Content:
    • Some series or genres will eventually have greater representation in the Pantheon than others. This is unavoidable, but a little diversity helps to make you not look like a shill per say. Try to ensure that if you add a deity from a popular series, make sure that it is because they are a good representative for the trope in question, and not just because they are connected to another deity in their respective canon.
      • As far as deities from actual mythologies, there is generally expectation to build the profiles off interactions from fictional portrays rather than basing it entire from the actual myth. Therefore, a mythological deity should be more of a Composite Character whose main identity is from the actual myth.
    • Occasionally there will be Gods that carry a title without a trope. This is not forbidden, but it is well advised not to abuse them. The only house that a tropeless profile are wholly allowed is the House of Food. Mainly due to most food items lacking tropes, and adding tropes about said foodstuffs is slightly unnecessary. However, the character being ascended for their choice of a food, or food-related thing must be a decently good representative of said item. (i.e their Trademark Favorite Food, or something that they are closely associated with In-Universe, or both).
    • For Dominions and Treasures profiles, always consider what made those places/objects popular in the first place. Were they plot-important, identifiable imagery or have a unique aspect of it? Do not just bring regular objects under the basis of following a certain canon.
  • For Profile Standards:
    • Flavor text is used to describe certain things about a character, place or object. To avoid short ones, it is recommended to write flavor text with 4-7 sentences that can fill around 2 lines each. Be warned that adding too many sentences does not equal good flavor text as it is not an essay of sorts (unless words are substantial and do add to the overall line).
    • Character Profiles of a certain person should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 7 (at the minimum) tropes describing their character.
      • Flavor text count for a deity profile should have by minimum, 10 (depending if the character in question has enough relationships/characterization) to 15 with a maximum of 20-25 for an individual profile.
      • On the other hand, group profiles (profiles of a group that has 4 or more members) have their maximum flavor text count to 15 minimum, giving individual lines for the other members of the group (unless the members are not as characterized) up to 30 at max.
    • Dominion profiles of a certain place should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 5 (at the minimum) tropes describing the context of the place.
      • Flavor text count should range at least 10 to 15.
    • Treasure profiles (inanimate objects without a trope) should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 6 (at the minimum) tropes that describes the object itself.
      • Flavor text count should be at least 7 flavor text up to 12 to constitute a treasure profile.

    Divine Ranking System
  • Overdeity: Omnipotent-level Reality Warpers capable of manipulating the entire universe (or at least the world) at will. Within their own universe they are believed to be omnipotent, or at least impossible-to-completely-destroy embodiments or concepts.
  • Greater Gods: High-level Reality Warpers and that are extremely powerful (capable of destroying or changing anywhere from a large city to a planet at will) and very strong non-reality warpers capable of doing the same thing.
  • Intermediate Gods: Deities at this level are capable of strong but specialized powers such as hydrokinesis, pyrokinesis, etc. without major drawbacks and low level Reality Warpers capable of affecting their immediate area at will.
  • Lesser Gods: Capable of highly specific or little power on their own, or suffer from Power at a Price. However, they may be able to ruthlessly exploit their power or combine it with just being badass enough to make up for it.
  • Demigods: Basically the Badass Normals of the pantheon, making up for their lack of abilities with strength, strategy, and/or planning.
  • Quasideities: Any otherwise normal human, human equivalent, or below without any special powers or training will fall here.

    Templates
Template for adding a new deity:

God X, God/dess of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Rank: This can range from Quasideity, Demigod, Lesser God, Intermediate God, Greater God, to Overdeity, based on representation of power mentioned above.
  • Symbol: An image or icon used to represent the deity.
  • Theme Song: Official song (in other words, no fan music, regardless of quality) that usually is used in affiliation with the character. If the deity is a musician this will most likely be their Signature Song. If possible, give a link for reference, preferably on either a website like Soundcloud or YouTube.
  • Alignment: Good, evil, neutral etc. Forget about The Great Character Alignment Debate here, the Pantheon is one of the few places where you can assign Dungeons & Dragons alignment to characters that don't have alignment system. After all, the Pantheon is based on D&D and is made for fun.
  • For PokĂ©mon deities only:
    • Gender: Defines the gender of the PokĂ©mon; if genderless, it instead defines what gender they identify as.
    • Ability: Provides the PokĂ©mon's ability. If they can Mega Evolve, the new ability is listed as well.
    • Moves: Defines the four moves used by a PokĂ©mon. A Z-Move may also be listed.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the character.
  • Domains: Things that the character has influence over.
  • Herald: Non-ascended loyal character that is from the same series as the ascended character.
  • High Priest: Non-ascended like heralds, but not from the same series, and can serve as a worthy replacement in case something would happen. They can be served as part-time workers in case the originals are busy with some jobs. Co-Godhood is accepted depending on the approval of the originals, usually if the co-deity is from the same series.
  • Followers: Non-ascended characters that are not part of the Pantheon, but would probably worship this character by the fact that they share the ascended character's trope.
  • Relationships between ascended characters go here with your chosen character, it goes something like this:
    • Allies: Members of the Pantheon that are allies, those that share the same values as them and would theoretically be friends with them.
    • Rivals: Members of the Pantheon that are rivals, people who may look at your character with suspicion or a challenge.
    • Enemies: Members of the Pantheon that are foes, those who would see your chosen character as a threat, either on their pespective or yours.
    • Additional Character Relationships: Members of the Pantheon that do not fit in various relationships (examples include Enemy Mine, Vitriolic Best Buds, Teeth-Clenched Teamwork, Headbutting Heroes, Friendly Enemy, Friendly Rival, Just Friends, etc.), allies, rivals, or enemies.
    • Partner: Defines a partnership with an ascended deity and Mon-type. (if any)
    • Feared by/Fears: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon notably fear or are feared by.
    • Respected by/Respects: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon respect or are respected by.
    • Opposed by/Opposes: Not necessarily the same as "Enemies", but this is used for any deity whom the members of the Pantheon directly opposes or is opposed by (basically the opposite of "Respects") terms of certain viewpoints, regardless of alignment.
    • Pitied by/Pities: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon feel pity for or are found pitiable by.
    • Conflicting Opinion: Sometimes, the Deities argue over specific themes and philosophies.
  • Add the Intro. The intro is made up of two trivia, the Ascension Text (or just the Ascension) and The Bio. Both are necessary, but which order you use for them may vary depending on the profile in question. It may be better for one profile to have The Bio first and the Ascension second or vice-versa, although for the most part the order is irrelevant:
    • The Ascension Text: This the story of how the character got into the Pantheon and/or was ascended. There are many ways for this to happen. They may be tricked into it or have simply wandered into the Pantheon, they may have had an already ascended character bring them in, they may already be in the Pantheon (via being another deity's Herald or sharing a trope) and got "promoted", or some combination of the above. Anything is possible in the Pantheon, so use your imagination, but try to incorporate their trope into the story, if possible.
    • The Bio: A brief synopsis on the character's backstory. No need for the character's entire life/production history, but just give enough that those who don't know the character can get an idea of how the character works.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Deities/Characters is 10-15 (15-20 for group profiles) at minimum to 20-25 (30 for group profiles) at maximum.

Template for Dominions profiles:

Place X, Place of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Alignment: Refers to the dominion's role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the dominion.
  • Domains: Things that the place has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the location has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as where the dominion is linked to, note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said dominion, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Dominion is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Dominions is 10 at minimum to 15 at maximum.

Template for Treasure profiles:

The name of the item in here (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Appearance: A shortened description of the item's looks with some notable features also mentioned.
  • Class: Refer to the Treasure Classification System in the Great Treasury.
  • Alignment: Refers to the objects' role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Museum Check: A note that says whether the item is viewable by the public.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the item.
  • Domains: Things that the item has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the item has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as where the item is linked to (especially the original owner of the item), note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said object, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Treasure is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Treasures is 7 at minimum to 12 at maximum.

  • Disliked by: Charon, Captain Haddock, Popeye,
  • Enemies: Enterprise, Tamon Yamaguchi, Kraken, Rahab, Bruce the Shark, The Hall of Piracy, Captain Hook, Cervantes de LeĂłn
  • Feared by: The Star Fleet, Ship Girls, One Piece Deities, Unhygienix, Every deity that has a ship.
  • Banned from Vehicles Depot
  • Confused by: The Sailor Guardians
  • Respects: Poseidon, The Halls of Wind and Air, Water and Moisture and Weather
  • Of Interest to: Hody Jones,
  • Jonah is an unlucky sailor that goes onto ships only for his luck or clumsiness to cause something to happen that makes the ship sink. He has been on one hundred and thirty-eight ships that have sank soon afterwards. He causes fear in any sailor who recognised him because they know that the ship he is on will sink. Sometimes the very sight of him will cause the crew of ships to flee, sometimes they flee so fast that they can't stop from crashing something in front of them.
  • The Pantheon first heard about the ship sinking incidents when Unhygienix had hired out his fishing boat to a group of sailors. One of the sailors was called Jonah and he was able to hook a fish but the fish pulled him off the boat. Jonah held tightly onto his fishing rod even when the fish turned around then went under the boat while Jonah went right through the boat leaving a Jonah shaped hole in the boat that caused it to sink. This caused Jonah to let go of the fishing rod and crash into the boats at the docks sinking all of them. Afterwards the shipwright Franky was called to repaire the boats, and Franky suggested that Jonah try to sail a metal boat that Franky had made but Jonah's clumsiness and bad luck caused that boat to sink too. It was decided that Jonah would be sent to the House of Craft to keep him busy doing something that would make it impossible for him to sink any boats while the Court of Gods made a decision on him. The Court of Gods decided to make Jonah the God of Sinking Ship Scenarios and made sure that his temple was kept well away from any boats in his hall. Jonah was told of his ascension after being thrown out of the house of craft for causing boats in paintings, statues of boats and ships in bottles to all sink.
  • Jonah is kept away from any living boats because of his clumsiness and bad luck would cause them to sink. The Star Fleet dare not go anywhere near where Jonah is because of his reputation of causing ships to sink. They fear that the moment they meet him they fill suffer an accident that sends them down into a watery grave. The Shipgirls fear him because their ship forms getting sunk will turn them into their Abyssal counterparts. Thankfully if the Abyssal counterpart are sunk they turn back into regular ship girls.
  • One day when Jonah was sailing his newest homemade ship he was surprised when a seaplane made a crash landing in front of him. The plane distracted him from steering his ship causing him to crash it into a nearby dock which caused enough damage to the ship that it sank below the waves. The pilot of the seaplane Launchpad McQuack helped Jonah get out of the water and on to dry lane. Launchpad was happy to find someone that had gone through similar mishaps to him because they could relate to each other. This led to them becoming firm friends, they even sailed in a ship that they had built which crashed then sank, undeterred they decided to built another ship named Pantheon 32. They are both known around the pantheon as walking disaster areas to vehicles but the people on the vehicles always survive.
  • Due to Jonah's clumsiness and bad luck it was decided to ban him from the vehicle depot just incase his clumsiness and bad luck that causes ships to sink works on the ships and spaceships in the pantheon. Jonah has been asked if he had anything to do with the original Titanic's sinking but Jonah just pointed out that he couldn't have anything to do with it because he was born many years after the original Titanic sank. He has had something to do with his homemade boats sinking some of which he named after the Titanic. However he has been forced to stop calling his homemade boats that name while in the pantheon after people that were on the Titanic like Scrooge McDuck.
  • Most One Piece Deities fear Jonah for his ability to cause ships to sink because of the effects of their Devil Fruits causes them to lose the ability to swim. Having Jonah around means that one mistake by him could cause the ship their on to sink which could take out any Devil Friit Eaters on board. One of the few One Piece that doesn't fear Jonah is Hordy Jones who seeks to enslave Jonah. Hordy wants to use Jonah as a slave that he could control, Hordy wants to use him as a means to sink humanity's ships. As bad as Jonah is towards ships in the pantheon most people realise that it would be better for everyone if he was kept well away from Hordy Jones.
  • When Jonah first was seen in the pantheon he was on a fishing boat with some other sailors when he cause it to sink. This caused Haddock and Popeye to have a dislike of Jonah since they were on the fishing boat as well when it sank. Unhygienix was especially angry since it was his boat that Jonah had sunk, so Jonah was forced to run away from Unhygienix who was trying to throw fish at him. Jonah got lucky when his clumsiness caused him to trip and the fish ended up hitting Obelix who decided to return the fish by hitting Unhygienix on head with it, this caused Unhygienix to fight Obelix over his fish allowing Jonah to Escape.
  • Rear Admiral Tamon Yamaguchi hates Jonah for not not going down with the ships he sinks. Jonah says he goes down the ships but since he is usually working on the deck, he ends up in the water and just swims either to land or a nearby ship. The reason he is usually found on deck is because the ship's captains figure that it is the place where he could do the least amount damage to the ship. Tamon Yamaguchi's temple is his ship so he tries to keep Jonah well away from it, to prevent Jonah from making it sink again.
  • After Jonah had caused a pirate ship to sink the crew in the life boats decided to throw him out of the boat. Jonah decided to swim for land however he was soon rescued by a Crocodile that made a ticking sound like a clock. The Crocodile transported him to the pirate ship Jolly Roger and then used his tail to hit Jonah on the ship. Captain Hook was afraid to see Jonah, Hook yelling out 'Agh! It's 'im!' Hook's crew panicked after hearing that and in the panic they accidentally caused holes in Hook's ship causing it to sink. Unfortunately for Hook he was left in the water with Tick-Tock the Croc who decided to try and eat him, Hook was last seen swimming for his life with the Croc chasing him.
  • Jonah is known for causing boats to sink in the sea, rivers, lakes, and ponds but could he sink a boat that was already underwater? That was the question that led to Jonah being introduced to Spongebob and Jonah being given a diving suit so he could go through a portal into Spongebob's universe, so he could try driving a boat at Mrs. Puff boating school. During the drive Jonah accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake causing the boat to go so fast up a ramp that it broke the sea level and went into the sky before sinking below sea again. After that it was decided that the best thing to do would be to return Jonah back through the portal into the Pantheon before he could cause anymore damage.
  • One day Jonah heard about some Sailors with Magic, he went to introduce himself to them while hoping that he didn't sink their boats. He was surprised to find ten magical girls who Jonah thought were ten Superheroes. They explained that their outfits were called Sailor uniforms and that they weren't the type of sailor that Jonah was looking for. They are unsure if Jonah totally understood their explanation since Jonah now seems to think that Magical Girl is the name of their team.
  • Like most sailors Jonah respects any Gods that can control the elements that can effect a sailor's voyage. He tries to stay on their good side so they don't cause any ship he is on to sink. The Gods have pointed out that Jonah doesn't need any help with sinking ships, his clumsiness and bad luck sink them before they could even do anything. Poseidon once took Jonah to Charon's temple to see if Jonah would cause Charon's ferry to sink so he could win his bet with Hades. Hades bet that Charon's ferry is the one boat that Jonah couldn't sink, while Poseidon bet that Jonah could make it sink. The winner of the bet was Poseidon and Jonah was seen being chased by an angry Charon shouting "How dare you sink my ferry Jonah!"

  • The Asteromorphs are an advanced extraterrestrial species with truly bizarre characteristics; an enlarged brain, elongated limbs with multiple finger-like appendages, and a specialized sphincter designed for locomotion in zero gravity. To the many planet-based posthumans, they were seen as incomprehensible forces of nature...and yet they too are descendants of the human-derived Star People, specifically the ones that escaped the wrath of the Qu who so thoroughly subjugated and/or exterminated most of future humanity. Hiding within hollowed out asteroids found in the distant corners of the galaxy, they evolved into the Spacers, then finally the Asteromorphs. Due to living in a Zero-G environment, they were content living in the cosmos, developing technology and philosophy far superior to their planet-based posthuman relatives, who viewed them as incomprehensible forces of nature. This technology was put to great use when the Gravital, a metallic group of posthumans, wiped out the Second Empire of Man before attempting to wage war on the Asteromorphs. It didn't end well for the Gravitals. From there, the Asteromorphs took a more direct role in the cosmos, watching over the former Subjects and New Machines with help from their planet-based relatives, the Terrestrials. They made contact with other alien civilizations, such as the Amphicephali, defeated the Qu and even rediscovered the planet where all humans came from... Earth.
  • By a billion years, mankind went extinct. But how did something as powerful as the Asteromorph civilization vanish? A final, unimaginable war of annihilation, one that transcended the very meaning of “conflict”? A gradual break-up of the united galaxies, and every race facing their private end slowly afterwards? Or perhaps, the wildest theories suggest, a mass migration to another plane of existence. A journey into somewhere, sometime, something else... Which is what happened to the Asteromorphs. After a time, the empire began to wane, and a select number of colonies ventured through a wormhole, hoping to find a new home in the universe. Their journey led them to a mysterious planet, much larger than Earth, inhabited by a plethora of people and creatures far beyond the imagination. These Asteromorphs realized that most of the creatures were humans, their ancestors from eons long past... but the people of the Pantheon were initially hesitant of the new arrivals. Before a full-scale war was ushered, the colonies were visited by an angelic being in white and gold. Her name was Cosmos, and she came to speak peacefully with the newcomers, offering them a place in the Pantheon. The Asteromorphs, mature enough to meet without quarrelling, spoke on equal terms with Cosmos. They were given a place among the asteroid belt orbiting the Pantheon's outer limits, where they could continue living in peace. In return, they offered to aid the GUAG against any threats to their new home.
  • The Asteromorphs are a powerful and somewhat aloof, not getting too involved in the lesser races. Following the Gravital's genocide they've become more pro-active, deciding to help out "lesser races" if they feel needed. They're consciously trying to not be condescending about it when they felt the presence of a single Xeelee ship near one of their colonies, it alone being more advanced than anything in their already formidable civilization. The Xeelee told stories of a version of humanity called the Interim Coalition of Governance, which to put it lightly was one of the most horrific, misanthropic dystopias ever conceived, which is why, out of perhaps pity, they reached out for an alliance. The Asteromorphs are very much the junior members, but took this in stride as a way to check their ego. Many of their Terrestrial agents fell to hubris and started playing petty gods amongst the primitive races. Despite the trauma that post-humanity faced under an alien race, these space men aren't xenophobes and were happy to ally with multi-alien species alliances like the New Alliance Of Free Stars, or the Green Lantern Corps. With the latter, a superhuman law enforcement appeals to them, though they'll well aware their track record isn't spotless (eg: Sinestro, the original Guardians of the Universe). The Asteromorphs have been intrigued by Group 1 as they are from a distant (by most human standards, not theirs) future where humans developed psychic powers, potentially making them a missing link.
  • Because the Asteromorphs are designed to live in space, they can't enter the embassies of the GUAG without mechanical support. This need for support isn't too different from the Slylandro, a friendly race of balloon-esque aliens who float in gas giants and were happy to see a race like the Asteromorphs ascend. They are an extremely intelligent species, potentially on par with the Coluans that Brainiac belongs to. They're nicer than most Coluans, so naturally they look at Brainiac with disdain. The man has a 12th level-intellect, a brilliance that could've enlightened the cosmos, but he chooses to be a Control Freak at least as bad as the Qu who tries to put the universe in a bottle. Much as he's capable of it, Brainiac does muse the Asteromorphs are surprisingly intelligent for descendants of a race he dismisses as weak and undeveloped. Their time visiting the GUAG involved discussing ways to combat hostile aliens such as the Anti-Spiral and the Combine, the former of which seems concerned by a being with potential Spiral Power in their possession. They felt that was hypocritical given they themselves are an even more advanced, self-modified race. Personally the Asteromorphs are somewhat fond of Team Dai-Gurren for their demonstration of human determination while learning the right lesson from the hypothesis of the Spiral Nemesis.
  • "Indomitable" is a word that the Doctor has ascribed to homo sapiens, and it is a major aspect as to why he (sometimes she) believes Humans Are Special. He's not above deriding their failings, especially in his darker moments, but in general he is impressed by them. The story of All Tomorrows was a compelling one and he holds a healthy amount of respect for the Asteromorphs, though he also hopes they do not fall into a lot of the decadence and hypocrisy that his own race, the Time Lords, have often fallen to. Said Time Lords noted the Astermorphs are almost a "missing link" between advanced humans and a race that could be comparable to themselves. Rassilon and Omega are aware their race is still significantly more advanced than the Asteromorphs, but see potential...something they worry about. The Asteromorphs fear them to a degree because for all their power they have yet to master time travel, and scant few races in the multiverse are as good at time travel as the residents of Gallifrey. Also worth noting is that like the Asteromorphs, Time Lords are also a result of long-term genetic engineering. The former believes they could at least develop something akin to regeneration in order to prolong their race; one of the explanations given is bound to be repeatable.
  • The most prominent feature on their body is their gigantic brain. By the time they defeated the Gravitals their brains developed the ability to act as a wing-like shape, allowing them to fly with their own gray matter and no longer need their propulsion. Given the rest of their bodies have become almost redundant, some believe they may become a Brain Monster in the future. If so they would certainly be more benevolent than a certain other species of flying brains, who feel compelled to know everything but hate every other race with equal at minimum intensity as the Qu. The super-intelligence of the Asteromorphs causes regular Brainspawn to reel from pain whenever their Dyson Spheres are in sight, so to stupify Asteromorph colonies they have to assault en masse with a Colossal Brain as commander. Stupefaction is particularly devastating to the Asteromorphs, as their empire require superhuman intellect to function at all. The Nibblonians sent out Nibbler to meet the Asteromorphs, dryly musing that for a species who's claim to fame was the invention of the pizza bagel, their descendants have done remarkably well for themselves. His kind has been fighting beings like the Brainspawn, and to a lesser extent the Qu since the Big Bang itself, so he wanted to ally with them in the name of Eternium. The post-humans agreed without a fuss.
  • Modern day humans are quite welcome to study and try to understand the way of the Asteromorph, a fact their lesser Terrestrial sub-species can get quite haughty about. The USS Enterprise and Deep Space 9 crew regularly open up communication, though many of the things the Asteromorph talks about is incomprehensible. Though not seeing them nearly as advanced enough to be proper allies, they respect their spirit of discovery and co-operation. They also like the Blorg Commonality, or at least like their friendliness and open-mindedness for other races. Personally they find them kind of annoying and haven't proven themselves to be great friends of theirs, but a nice and approachable alien is good as far as they're concerned. Occasionally they will have friendly chats with the Moon God and Dr Manhattan, noting they are individuals who have ascended to a god-like status as they as a race have...except they're above even them. The former mentions he has created life like they have, though it didn't work out as well.
  • Interactions between the Asteromorphs and Imperium is...interesting, to say the least. The former aren't impressed by the rampant xenophobia, musing that humanity had a comparably bad time with xenos in their universe but they did not become as aggressive. Of course, humanity and its descendants in their universe have been around significantly longer, and Chaos is not a thing they have ever had to worry about, so they feel it's unfair to bring up the Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse argument to condemn them. They seem more reasonable than the Gravitals for what it's worth. The Imperium of Mankind was shocked to learn something as alien as the Asteromorphs, and the variety of posthumans were, in fact, evolved humans. The mindset of the human genome being sacred makes it a heated debate on whether they should tolerate and understand their evolutionary cousins, or consider them dangerous. Under most circumstances they'd probably default to the latter, but relatively cooler heads prevailed; the Emperor doesn't exactly trust the Asteromorphs, but recognizes them as one of the most reliable not quite humans. For now they will be allies rather than rivals, and the Asteromorphs intend to keep it that way as they believe the Imperium could become a lot more effective by focusing on the bigger picture.
  • The Asteromorphs are generally seen as Benevolent Precursors, not to the extent of the Chozo but the spirit of a big ancient race protecting the newcomers and survivors of the Gravital genocide, and helping post-humanity flourish is certainly something they look favorably one. However an argument could be made that they have a sinister guide, having practiced slavery and ultimately committing genocide against the Gravitals...in fairness, they were far worse in that aspect but they did make their descendants servants for a time and didn't do much to dissuade prejudice towards the New Machines for the Gravitals' sins. Some critics even argue they are an optimistic path the Imperium could evolve into. Their more amoral and somewhat detached behavior is why they're considered True Neutral instead of, say Neutral Good. Ganthet can see some of the Old Guardians of the Universe he belonged to, before they really started to fall, noting even back when they were benevolent they had a lot of skeletons in the closet. He still works with them, in part because of some Realpolitik between the Green Lantern Corps and the Asteromorphs, and in part he can still see much of what he still valued in his kind.
  • Celebrations among their kind were cut short when they learned the Qu had managed to escape to the Trope Pantheon, defying the subjugation that was imposed on them for their millions of years of crimes against humanity and other sentient races. Though the Asteromorphs and Gravitals were in a brutal war, the latter being reduced to a Servant Race, the "New Machines" were eventually given equal rites (though they were still seen with scorn because of their ancestors' crimes). The Qu, however? Subjugated, possibly exterminated. What kind of justice was brought about to those xenos isn't clear, but seeing the Qu double down and join up with other likeminded aliens convinced the Asteromorphs what happened the Qu wasn't enough. Some alien individuals proved worthy of contempt. For example, Black Doom and Lavos; the former sees Earthlings as food, the latter initially seemed like a Non-Malicious Monster at first but proved to have a comprehensible, spiteful intellect that manipulated evolution on a planet as part of its "lifecycle".
  • Though clearly victorious in their war with the Gravitals it has left them to take a watchful eye on those that remind them of the Gravitals. Despite all the horrible things they did the Gravitals were, at their core, still human. They had jobs, families, hobbies, and yet the vast majority of them were simply incapable of seeing other post-human life as valid. Now imagine if they had all their power or even more, but with the virtues of ancestral humanity stomped out. This is perhaps what they see in the Daleks and Cybermen. Both are descendants of a human-looking race who's quest to survive led to physical alterations and elimination of supposed weaknesses. For Cybermen, this was emotion period and they are obsessed with converting other humanoids into themselves. For the Daleks, this was all positive emotion, but hatred and racial supremacy was focused thanks in large part to "a man who was king of his own little world". The Cybermen want the Asteromorph's brains, the Daleks simply want their corpses. Unfortunately for the Asteromorphs, unless they're in dire straits like recovering from a near-extinction those hostile xenos have the upper handnote . The Borg are similar to the Cybermen in that they believe rather than eliminate them, the Asteromorphs should be assimilated. Able to think in ideas and concepts incomprehensible to rest of post-humanity, the threat a single converted Asteromorph alone is formidable.
  • SHODAN's boasts of her own superiority over humanity, seeing herself as a god is a laughable delusion to the Asteromorphs. They have seen the Gravitals and their rampage, and after dealing with them they aren't impressed by the grandstanding of the AI. With her view that Humans Are Insects, something the existence the Asteromorphs massively contradict, they have a decisive viewpoint on her; an insecure narcissist who proclaims herself a kami to run from the truth that it was those very "insignificant humans" that gave her life. The Vex are an AI they hold with more concern, as they are beings who wish to redefine the very nature of the universe itself to better suit themselves. And they do it with zealotry not too dissimilar to the Qu...not something these space people like. In terms of individual AI, they have more of an issue with AM. Not necessarily that he is more of a threat, but because what he does to human survivors reminds them of those who suffered the worst under the Qu. They hold some pity for the Five Survivors, and the Chimeras for good measure.
  • Not all that fond of jokes confusing the Qu for the Q. For the most part, Q is considered tolerable by them even if they are wary of his power individually exceeding their empires; the Asteromorphs seem god-like to most races, but Reality Warper they are not. Rather, given the grave injustices the Qu caused, they find these jokes poor taste. They have more of a sense of humor with the time traveler mentioning if they have ever dealt with a Morlock-Eloi like dynamic in their past. Having traveled across the future, he has seen what humanity could evolve into but never saw humanity's descendants go as far into deep time as the Asteromorphs, who exist at least 560 million years into the futurenote . Their designs have interested Princess Bubblegum, as she has created her own form of life via the Candy People. Despite the crimes of the Qu the Asteromorphs have no reprehension over the activities of the Hall of Genetic Engineering, and are personally interested in those claiming to be the ultimate life-form. Shadow and Mewtwo are intriguing takes on this concept. Additionally, the Decepticons, particularly Shockwave, find their technology interesting.
  • Consider Dr Gero to be a waste of a brain. He managed to create Cell, a Person of Mass Destruction intended as the perfect being and with the genetics to back that up. However he is concerned with petty vendettas when he could have helped uplifted mankind. Cell is an unstable psychopath, which they find as unfortunate since if Gero had focused on less sadistic means of powering him up and avoided letting unsavory personality traits from his donors become dominant, he could've become helpful. The Bio-Android finds this wishfulness comical and feels like flexing his power on them by blowing up one of their star systems, as he finds their haughtiness annoying. He also thinks it's ridiculous they claim to be so advanced yet if they were on a planet with gravity they'd flop as bad as a jellyfish on land. The Asteromorphs just chose not to fall for the bait. In addition, they are intrigued by Doomsday as a being who can survive any environment and adapts to whatever previously killed him. Its violent origins have made the beast hostile to all other life so any intrigue was met with roars...again, seen as an unfortunate waste by these human-descended beings.
  • Their disappointment towards Dr Gero is something the latter couldn't care about, nor did they expect him. However they do note his grandson Dr Hedo is a marked improvement, being a lot more level-headed and wise in his decisions. Nowadays he works with Bulma, though he is still somewhat amoral. Bulma was fascinated by the Asteromorphs and they were impressed, albeit modestly, by the intelligence and skill a regular human has demonstrated. Predictably Zamasu is disgusted by Asteromorphs for playing God and being powerful mortals, and equally as predictably they condemn his actions as one of a psychopathic hypocrite who projects what he refuses to admit about himself onto everyone else. On a lighter note, another scientist they seem to appreciate is Azmuth, due to his creation of the Omnitrix. The Galvans are somewhat similar to the Asteromorphs in being arguably the smartest species around with a large (albeit not as extreme) brain, and the Asteromorphs see great potential in it and Ben Tennyson's wielding of the Omnitrix. The ability to "live a mile in another's shoes" and preserve the genetics of millions of species is a definite plus.

  • Fears: The Xeelee
  • The Qu are an ancient race of super advanced genetic engineers from another galaxy. In their universe, future humans found evidence of a modified dinosaur on an alien world, meaning that some group had been meddling around on Earth long ago. The Star People would prepare in case of hostilities, and those fears would be brutally confirmed; the Qu are zealots who oppose the existence of other sentient life and consider the universe their playground. They are a key reason as to why people had a hard time finding other intelligent life, and brutally transformed humanity into different species with a wide array of biologies. Those who particularly resisted were subject to a Fate Worse than Death. They would leave the galaxy, allowing the descendants of these post-humans to recover. These descendants of humanity would join with another alien race to subdue the Qu, ended over a billion years of unparalleled dominance.
  • How the Qu managed to emerge in the Trope Pantheon has been lost to time...deep time. The current theory is that a clash between Overdeities opened up a Negative Space Wedgie to a point in time where the Qu were paying for their crimes against sentient life. To their shock, for all their playing God there were in fact true gods there, supernatural entities they scoffed as superstition, and alien races far more advanced than them. One struck utter terror in their society; the Xeelee. The Xeelee are overwhelming the most advanced race not called the Photino Birds in a setting where turning neutron stars into projectile weaponry is mundane and should they choose to act, a single member could shut their entire race down in the same casual tone as a human might make a sandwich. It was clear to the Qu if they were to enact their crusade, they must first realize the rules of the Trope Pantheon. They also have realized, as much as they hate it, they should make friends. With their attitude, this would take a while.
  • Fiction is replete with aliens who would invade and subjugate humanity, but what the Qu did to mankind makes most look kind. One of the most infamous examples of genetic torture was the fate of the Colonials; brick-like post-humans made to filter their waste while retaining full sentience. This is a cruelty fully justified by their blind, unquestioned dogma as The Right of a Superior Species and not a single Qu has been recorded deviating from this mindset. The horror they inflicted on humanity has made them near the top of ascended races deemed evil incarnate by humanity, some even saying they're more evil than the Daleks as extermination isn't pleasant, but unless they're in desperate genetic need your suffering won't last that long. The Borg Queen thinks the Qu are evil due to her mindset; robbing others of their individuality is messed up, but the Collective is 100% convinced this is an improvement. The Qu mutilate species that fall under them as punishment for "the temerity" of being intelligent organisms.
  • They are similarly condescending to "lesser species" to the Network, the Combine and the Grox, but they go about it in different ways. The Network believe they are improving less civilized races, though humanity disagrees with this. That said, in practice they come off as a case of the Evil Colonialist, so them calling the Qu sadistic comes off as posturing to many. The Qu seem to understand where they come from, hence them being considered rivals instead of pure enemies. The Combine don't bother with this pretense, and their ability to span multiple universes is something the Qu envy. The Grox are generally content with their superiority complex in the galactic core and merely see the Qu as rivals in the alien supremacist corner, though they do respect their genetic manipulation and punishments. The Spore Player Character is naturally horrified by the Qu, seeing them as a 5 star alien race that uses the Creature Tweaker on sentient races. The Cybertronians are similarly appalled by their actions, as among many other sins their desire to conquer and transform other sapient lifeforms brings to mind the Quintessons. And yet despite how xenophobic the Qu are they are still outclassed in the rampant contempt for other life forms by Unicron, who considers the totality of existence a condemnable temerity. The only good things he'll say about the Qu is that he admires the suffering they inflict on "their lessers" and attitude.
  • The Qu, despite their apparent Always Chaotic Evil (well, more like Lawful Evil) status, are a species and not an individual or even a Hive Mind. The idea that a small group or even an individual could sunder worlds is an absurdity to them. Unfortunately for them, they are again part of the Trope Pantheon. Frieza, even in his weakest form, blew up planet Vegeta with the effort of a human lighting a candle. He and his family couldn't give a crap about dogma or any ideology; they know what they are and Frieza in particular is skilled at enforcing his rule through fear. He likes to give the Qu "pet names" like dragonflys, even if his family privately admits their empire is a rival. Zamasu sees thing differentlynote ; a good demonstration of mortals' abuse of god-given knowledge, and a blasphemous demonstration of a god complex. Rather than call them out for hypocrisy, the Qu hold some measure of respect for him due to his dogmatic views and twisted righteousness, since they agree other sentient beings are unworthy of their freedom. The one Dragon Ball deity that seems to get along mutually with the Qu is the parasite Baby, who wishes to enact revenge on the surviving Saiyans and their loved ones for crimes their ancestors caused and act as an invader the peaceful Tuffles would probably be ashamed of. The Qu started to wonder if assimilation like Baby, rather than punishing mutation, would've been the better punishment for humanity.
  • It's something of a sore spot for the Qu when you bring up alien races who can do the stuff they do, but on a much larger scale. Over a billion years and time travel alludes them; this alone puts them at a disadvantage against Daleks and Time Lords. Power-wise they are high enough that both races consider them mutual rivals, but not nearly ones that can legitimately threaten them. The Daleks can't imagine why they consider themselves the superior race, though as this is the Daleks talking anything not involving killing comes off as two groups talking to a mirror. The Daleks prove far more stubborn in the ways and rather than using the Doctor sabotaging their invasions of planets as leeway for an Enemy Mine like the Qu would hope for in that situation, they let it happen so they can kick a dragonfly-esque alien when it's down. The Doctor has noted the Qu's similarity to Rassilon, since to solidify Time Lord control he would try to prevent any races evolving that could threaten the Time Lords. He also seeded other worlds to make sure life like the Time Lords. Keep in mind this was long before the Last Great Time War, when he really got bad. Him and Omega regard the Qu as upstarts and are contemplating sabotaging their origins so as to Ret-Gone them...hopefully it won't go belly-up like with the Daleks.
  • Unless stated otherwise, all other intelligent life is considered to be treated with as much respect as a human might give to the bacteria in a petri dish. Their contempt isn't even one of rabid hatred like that of the Daleks, who consider their mutations to be an act of pointless vanity as they'd rather just kill off subjugated races. No, their justification is akin to the Khan Makyr, The Right of a Superior Species to do what they will with all other life. A zealotry akin to the likes of YHVH, though being a literal deity He has a different idea on how to change the universe to His will. And the Qu don't necessarily care about The Evils of Free Will, even if Law's faction notes their genetic modifications would make them fit for stamping it out. Lucifer, loving humanity if in a questionable manner, doesn't see the bugs as much different from his mortal Arch-Enemy. Due to the human race suffering the most known abuse due to the Qu, suffering which continued for millions of years, many human deities would consider wiping them out to be a Guilt-Free Extermination War.
  • Professor Hojo alone is the only human who admires them for their "craftsmanship". Of course, if any human were to respect them it'd be him. Davros also admires them. The Qu don't serve his interests and his association with the Daleks alongside his ultra-fascist views puts the kibosh on an actual alliance, but he does find their genetic craftsmanship most impressive. Every single member being dedicated to one supremacist vision was a nice touch, far as he's concerned. However, he feels if they seek to be a true rival of his creations they should focus on genetically improving themselves. The VUX like the Qu too, though only because of the punishment they inflicted on humanity. This isn't reciprocated seeing as how the Qu rarely see an intelligent race they aren't offended by.
  • Their greatest enemy in the Trope Pantheon, excluding potential post-humans from their own universe, is the Imperium of Man. Few species do more to validate their own hatred of the alien than the Qu, and yet to a degree there's Psychological Projection. The Emperor of Mankind envisioned humanity conquering the galaxy as Manifest Destiny, a mindset many Qu feel about the universe. However cruel as the Imperium can be, they are capable of Realpolitik with the xenos and except for extreme circumstances would not subject any xenos to a Fate Worse than Death. Most aliens would take their chances with the Imperium and the Emperor has formed more truces in opposition to the Qu along with those that teamed up with the Qu. Further hatred towards the Qu is fueled by the belief the human genome is sacred, though there's also the mindset that genetic engineering can be used to create heroes like the Space Marine. The Emperor isn't too fond of the variety in post-humans, but he still sees in most of these post-human races the triumph of the human will...and a silver lining/middle-finger towards their Abusive Precursors.
  • It is very hard for the Qu to accept other races. Merely respecting something about other intelligent species is considered controversial amongst their scholars, but a pragmatic need to survive the Trope Pantheon has lessened that controversy. An important figure in making them more open to like-minded races was Black Doom, leader of the Black Arms and genetic father of the Ultimate Life Form Shadow. He waxed philosophically on how the Qu were completely justified in their treatment of humanity, saying that the Puny Earthlings are only fit to cattle under the "benevolent" arms of his. The dragonfly-like aliens saw nothing wrong with what he was saying, except that they believe he has a lot more he can do to "prove useful". Through him they also learned of the Chaos Emeralds, and now seek to take the "Mobians" for their own purposes. It's not all that secret that Black Doom aspires to enforce his will on these greater aliens, but he's genuine in respecting their worldview.
  • Fortunately for the Qu, there is an Overdeity-level race (and individual) that looks favorably on their actions; the Anti-Spiral. The Anti-Spiral fear Spiral Power will end up causing the Spiral Nemesis, a Big Crunch scenario, so they oppressed the universe en masse by severely limiting civilization's growth. Perhaps not as sadistic as the Qu, but still under that self-righteous, Absolute Xenophobe mindset. Turning most of humanity into the non-sapient posthumans seemed a clever way to suppress Spiral Power, so the Anti-Spiral King reached out to the Qu and said they would sponsor their efforts. Though this would inevitably attract the wrath of Team Dai-Gurren, it was undoubtedly a boon for the Qu, and motivated them to reach out to more like-minded alien races. The Harvesters, the Martians and the Khan Makyr all agreed to team up with offense against humanity as a shared motivator, though only the last one is all that ideologically motivated. The Harvesters just want the resources and the Martians from Mars Attacks are in it For the Evulz, so the Qu are more a convenient method of achieving it than truly like-minded aliens.
  • Wanted for crimes of genocide, unethical experimentation, mass torture and slavery. The Green Lanterns, Team Lightyear, the Space Sheriffs, they're on their naughty list. For their mass genetic abuse they are seen as personally atrocious by Caesar, and the Five Survivors cringe at especially cruel fates like the Mantelopes and Colonials. For AM, however, he was very pleased by all this and the mass suffering they inflicted on the human race, which is why he has formed an alliance with them. Rocket Raccoon is repulsed by the Qu, who he sees as a species-wide version of the High Evolutionary except without even the thin pretense of "perfecting" races. While all Sonic deities oppose them due to the similarities and alliance with Black Doom, Gerald Robotnik in particular is reminded of him. As a race of Benevolent Precursors, the Chozo are also quite offended by the Qu. The Animorphs have quite an ax to grind with the Qu due to their conflict with the Yeerks, aliens who enslave other sapient beings; and later had to negotiate with the Andalites, a technologically-advanced alien race who will stop at nothing to destroy the Yeerks, including committing genocide on potential host species.
  • The Qu cast a large shadow over the Hall of Genetic Engineering as it is this power which has given them the trope of Speculative Biology. Even the Star People who avoided their wrath would further explore potential human evolution by becoming the Spacers, and eventually the Asteromorphs. Members of the Qu regularly visit the Hall in order to get new ideas both on how to genetically improve themselves, and to twist whoever their dogma dictates they should. The Dehaka and Goliath are regular subjects of study, and so is the Xenomorph Drone. And before you ask, they are well aware the Xenomorphs fall under Evil Is Not a Toy; what they have in mind is dissecting it to see if they can incorporate beneficial Xenomorph traits into their own biology. They're interested in SCP-040 due to her bio-manipulation, and Megaguirus...as a pet. Since the Qu are somewhat similar to dragonflies, a kaiju version of the arthropod naturally intrigues them.
  • Some might call the Qu a classic case of Evilutionary Biologist, but this is incorrect as it would imply they had a twisted attempt to improve beings through genetic modification. It's quite the opposite; these mutations are done strictly to punish humanity, sometimes into a Fate Worse than Death, but occasionally doing stuff like creating the Hedonists, pampered pets with an Extreme Libido. If they're feeling merciful they will "merely" turn an opposing sentient race into an animal like the Swimmers, a type of human-derived seal. Of course, if they wanted to they could greatly improve something through genetic engineering, which is why they are interested in creatures made to be genetically superior. Cell, Shadow and Mewtwo are all "ultimate life forms" they want to study, likely to create their own version. The latter two hate the Qu; Shadow recognizes their similarities to Black Doom, and anyone who knows anything about Mewtwo knows how he would be offended by the idea of making "their own version". Cell, being a psychopath and well aware of the fact, thinks what they did is hilarious but finds the idea of a race calling themselves superior silly. After all, he's the perfect organism according to him and he doesn't need to make a race of himself to do so.
  • The Qu are intrigued by Ben Tennyson and Azmuth...or rather, the Omnitrix the latter invented and the former wields. The power to transform into an enormous menagerie of other intelligent aliens, most with a variety of powers...and of course there's Alien X, who's powers they're practically salivating over. They have been trying to recruit Azmuth to help use his intellect to develop their own personal "alien 3D printer", and by recruit we mean invade Galvan Prime and subjugate the race into forced servitude to reap the benefits. Ben sees in the Qu the kind of species-wide arrogance and zealotry the Highbreed once had, however he doubts he could have them have a change of heart the same way as the Qu do not have frustration at genetic bottlenecking that fueled the Higbreed's Suicidal Cosmic Temper Tantrum. He could potentially scan them into the Omnitrix, but isn't in any rush, and he's seen some nasty mutations so what the Qu did is highly repellent. The avian Caneletto isn't too fond of their genetic warping of humanity, but this is far more hypocritical coming from him. After all, the Timeless One also has a zealous vision to change the universe at the expense of everyone else. However, he's quite self-righteous and tries to pass it off as necessary; playing the Even Evil Has Standards card when dealing with the Qu helps keep up his delusions of being in the right.

Azulin and Gordi, Co-Gods of Religious Animals

  • [tup]s:
  • House: Religious Practice, Animal Behavior
  • Demideities
  • Symbol: The Sacred Book, alternatively his mask (Azulin). A bow and a heart-shaped arrow (Gordi)
  • Theme Song:
  • Alignment: Chaotic Evil, thinks of himself as Lawful Good (AzulĂn), Neutral Good (Gordi).
  • Portfolio: Believed in a Religion of Bears and Unicorns, Cain and Abel.
  • Domains: Animals, Religion, Siblings, Bears Hatred, War
  • Herald: MarĂa (GordĂ)
  • Allies:
  • Enemies: The Houyhnhnms.
  • Opposed by: Chirin, Ford Pines, Mabel Pines (Azulin)
  • Oppose: The Perverted Unicorn (both)
  • Gordi and AzulĂn were a pair of anthropomorphic bear brothers who lived in a small town near a magical forest, according to their town's religion, the bears once were unintelligent wild animals that eventually were given sapience by the God of the world through a sacred book in a church that was placed in the middle of the forest; however the jealous unicorns that also inhabited the forest didn't approve of the bears and drove them out motivating the future generations to fight and eventually wipe out the unicorns to reclaim their land. Gordi and Azulin joined a special squadron to fight in the war, with Azulin making his brother miserable at all turns and gradually being driven to insanity by his sociopathy and obsession with being the hero of the story as he read that the sacred book of the bears' religion indicated the legend of a "Chosen One" that would guide the bears to victory. After most of their comrades perished in battle, Azulin and Gordi had a falling out with Gordi ending up lost and in unicorn territory where contrary to what he'd been raised to believe turned out to be a friendly place where he made peace with his former religious enemies; meanwhile, Azulin was injured but found and healed and was made into the figurehead of the war efforts, leading to him rising in the ranks and eventually taking over as the supreme commander to use his newfound power to lead a mass assault on the forest, destroying it and all the unicorns at the cost of all bears but him perishing in the process. When he reunited with Gordi, despite his prior grief and regret, he was filled with rage when Gordi revealed himself to have befriended a unicorn foal, Maria, and killed him in cold blood before killing Maria and consuming her flesh to fulfill the prophecy of the Chosen One; but then from Maria's body a monstrous entity emerged and devoured him, his brother's corpse and Maria and took on a humanoid form before marching to take over the now-desolate world.
  • Gordi and Azulin woke up in the Pantheon, Gordi feeling a massive pain in the back of his head from leftover blunt trauma while Azulin felt like he was drowning as he woke up. Once both adjusted their senses back to full lucidity, Azulin thought they were in Heaven and he'd fulfilled his purpose before discovering he was quite not right about it as they were now in a Pantheon filled with various Gods of other worlds. Gordi refused to be within his brother's place any longer and went his separate way as did Azulin, eventually their temple was split for Gordi's safety and ever since the two brothers haven't talked much to each other, though many feel that eventually they'll fight again but hope it's Gordi who ends his brother's life this time around.
  • From the start, AzulĂn resumed his hatred and genocidal crusade against the unicorns, now targeting those in the Pantheon that he felt were the biggest threats to him. Chief among these deities were the unicorns and alicorns of the My Little Pony world who wield magic that he finds not only demonic in nature but also have a fully-thriving civilization defined by its peace for the most part, which makes him jealous of their rather good lifestyle; despite his hatred of them he does not feel swayed to ally with the majority of their own enemies as they're either ponies or close species themselves or too dangerous to team up with, with the sole exception of Grogar who's sane and different enough from the ponies to be on AzulĂn's good graces; Grogar has thought of humoring the bear before betraying him as he finds his bloodlust and sheer cruelty of interest but nothing else.
    • Azulin likewise developed loathing for Lady Amalthea and Pegasus by extension, as both equine deities have powers and status which challenge his views on unicorns and his religion's principles, something he doesn't takes well. Amalthea herself feels pity towards Azulin, having heard from Gordi about how he once wasn't as bad (though was never really a good person) but got worse as the indoctrination and his growing sociopathy got the better of him and sank him into full depravity past the point of return. Pegasus himself avoids Azulin and wants nothing to do with him in any way, viewing him as both a lost cause and a monster that never really did anything remotely good.
    • Gordi, on the other hand, befriended the ponies without issue and has taken interest in adopting their ideology of friendship and trust, recalling how his world was doomed by the bears adopting a religious ideology that put killing their enemies above all things, especially how his brother fully absorbed the worst aspects of it in his downwards spiral towards evil. He also met the human, Megan, who came from another world to the ponies' own to help in various adventures; she is glad to hear that despite his upbringing Gordi changed for the better from the good of his heart and has given him some time to take care of pony foals as their babysitter, remembering Gordi's time as the young Maria's caretaker. He also began to help taking care of Unico, a young and friendly pony with a similar view on the world and who too reminded him of Maria, Unico in turn appreciates having another friend though had almost tried to befriend Azulin before Gordi talked him out of it knowing his brother wouldn't have mercy on Unico.
  • A few deities both brothers equally dislike are the Houyhnhnms, horses with contempt towards most things that aren't themselves and a predisposition for being arrogant and self-righteous. Azulin views them as extensions of the unicorns and wants them wiped out to take over their island, while Gordi is abhorred by their isolationist ideas and disdain for humans or other species they consider as bad as the "Yahoos". The Houyhnhnms in turn are not too concerned about the bears themselves but rather fear what Azulin might bring upon them as they were horrified to learn of how Azulin basically caused the apocalypse on his world and led to the rise of what they perceive to be a demonic Yahoo. As such they've taken steps to keep both bears as far away from their temple as possible and also ensure none of their allies can reach their island, for once fearing their kind might in genuine danger.
  • Due to their religions' uncanny parallels to various common religions such as Christianity they've gained some infamy among more religious deities, though that's mostly reserved for the deranged fundamentalist that is Azulin. Primarily among these opposers was Orel Puppington who is a very devoted Christian but was occasionally misguided into some rather nasty acts out of blind obedience before he wound up realizing just how rotten most of his town was in their own devotions and outgrew the worst traits of his religious ideals; while Orel pities Azulin and sympathizes with Gordi for how their mother cheated on their father, he isn't willing to let the former get off easy for the genocide he led and his own killing of his brother just for not siding with him in addition to the long-standing bullying and cruelty Azulin put Gordi through while acting entitled to his brother's love and attention, not unlike Clay's own psychological abuse of him while gaslighting him into obedience.
  • Gordi's idealism and technical pacifism has led to him befriending deities who've also vouched for said kind of ideals or even coexistence as Gordi had achieved with the unicorns he was raised to believe were the enemy. One of these deities was Star Butterfly, as the princess grew up being taught to hate and kill monsters yet found herself sympathizing with them upon finding out her people's revisionism and worked hard to create a kingdom fit for both her kind and monsters alike. Another of these allies was Caesar, the evolved ape having been caught up in a desperate conflict of humanity and apes in which he even had to turn against his brother-in-arms Koba, who was too far gone in his hatred to be saved, but while GordĂ was the one to lose in his conflict with AzulĂn, Caesar triumphed against Koba and achieved a peaceful future for apes, whereas GordĂ was too late for any bright future to come before AzulĂn tore it down, Caesar does greatly sympathize with GordĂ due to what he went through and even gave him condolences for his fallen friends and family. While Koba might have some similar ideas to AzulĂn, he does find his lack of common goals to be a reason not to be interested in forming an alliance with him, instead opting to ignore his existence.
  • While Azulin might have ideals of bear superiority he's willing to team up with non-bears if they are willing to reach some kind of compromise (provided it doesn't screw him over), one of these allies was Napoleon the pig, who loathes equines due to his personal experiences with members of their kind and is interested in Azulin's power-hungry tendencies given his own rise to power. While Napoleon sees the religion he profuses as a possible threat to his influence he nonetheless has thought up of ways of using it as a way to give himself even more power and influence in the greater Pantheon or neutralize how much it can reach out. Azulin also admires Napoleon's ruthlessness and his iron fist rule in which he employed both fear and cunning to keep the show going, while Napoleon in turns shows respect towards Azulin's ruthlessness and unbreakable will in his attempts to destroy the Unicorns and rule the forest.
  • Another deity who had issues with unicorns was Stanford Pines aka the Author of the Journals, but while he might not like unicorns himself even he thinks AzulĂn and formerly Gordi were way too excessive in their own biases, especially since they were attacking unicorns trying to protect their home; Mabel who also had such a bad run-in with unicorns was similarly disgusted by AzulĂn's methods and his treatment of his brother. He is glad Gordi has changed his ways but is equally disappointed in AzulĂn not doing the same and becoming far, far worse. He also laments how their sibling relationship ended in disaster, especially since Gordi still tried to reason with his brother for as long as he could while AzulĂn mistreated him his entire life out of petty spite.
  • AzulĂn made an unusual ally in "Big" Jack Horner, primarily because the latter not only has abused and subdued unicorns for his own ends, but also because he seeks to deprive everyone of magic, which would include any and all unicorns in the world. While Jack Horner thinks Azulin is a wee bit too unstable at times, he had not much issue teaming up over their common enemies and also to use him as a sucker pawn in his plans, given that the level of violence and brutality Azulin has led in the past sounded like a very interesting chance for him to exploit for his own ends. In response to this, Gordi came to loathe Jack for his mistreatment of baby unicorns and enslavement of magical beings, while in turn allying with Puss in Boots and Shrek, who gave him a bit more insight on just how wrong the religion that indoctrinated several of his fellow bears into hatred really was.
  • There are a few unicorn deities both Azulin and Gordi are equally wary of, among these is King Sombra, an enemy of the Equestria deities who has tried to enslave the world multiple times which gave both brothers a reason to hate him; Azulin not only hates Sombra out of prejudice due to being a pony and wielding dark magic but also because of him viewing Sombra's power as a threat to any future rule he would try and establish and just in general that his power undermines his self-made image of dread. Another of these unicorns is the perverted nameless Unicorn whose behavior and promiscuity has made Azulin and Gordi alike uncomfortable and prone to try and avoid him any way they can, while Gordi at least tries to be amicable if dismissive whenever they cross paths if only to avoid trouble and a fight he doesn't wants happening, Azulin has at times violently charged and tried to murder the unicorn as retaliation for the slightest unwanted attention, which has made the Unicorn be pretty scared of the blue bear and prone to running for the hills if he so much as spots him in the distance.
  • Interestingly enough, their final fates of Azulin striking down Gordi with a rock makes them their world's counterparts to Cain and Abel. Cain himself is in the Pantheon and was interested to hear more of the two brothers' tale, while Cain is occasionally uncaring about his crimes, he has been more remorseful as of lately and is horrified that something so similar went down on another world but that instead of feeling remorse about the deed, Azulin has just doubled down on his cruelty which soured his view of the psychotic blue bear; he in turn was fond of Gordi for his friendly demeanor and willingness to befriend others and make peace not unlike Abel's peaceful and kind-hearted approach to life.
  • Naughty Bear got along well with Gordi, mainly because he could relate to being singled out and hated by his peers just for being different, though Gordi never went into a rampage out of revenge. He in turn loathed Azulin more than any bear he did prior, not only for murdering Gordi in cold blood but also being the main perpetrator of the bullying Gordi went through yet still being an entitled jerk who demanded full loyalty and love from his brother despite doing nothing to earn even a pat in the back, while Gordi has pleaded time and time again for Naughty Bear not to disembowel Azulin violently, Naughty has made it clear he won't guarantee Azulin will live if he keeps down the path he walks for now.
  • Po is another Weight Woe who suffered as a result of his physical appearance, as the Furious Five and Shifu (and virtually everyone but his father) were initially dismissive and cruel to him for being a fat panda. Gordi's bullying turned to worse and it was perpetrated by his violent brother, which caused Po to greatly sympathetize with him, which Gordi appreciated and was happy to hear how his own tale turned out much better in the end. In turn Azulin resents and envies Po for being a legitimate Chosen One and being praised and loved by his people for who he is rather than for a mask, in one ocassion Azulin tried to kill Po but wisely retreated once the Dragon Warrior easily beat him, ever since he's been thinking of conspiring with Po's foes to take him down in petty revenge.
  • San, being a guardian of a sacred forest, absolutely loathes AzulĂn for all he's done to the forest of the unicorns and then murdering his brother for not supporting his madness. She on the other hand felt bad for Gordi due to what his brother did to him and for his failed attempts at living in peace with the unicorns and protect Maria from the evil of the other bears' warmongering ways. San's adoptive mother, Moro-No-Kimi, shares her views on the two but especially feels bad for GordĂ due to his attempts at salvaging something out of the bear-unicorn war going to Hell real quickly thanks to AzulĂn's mania.
  • The Tediz got along well with AzulĂn thanks to their shared views on militarism and supremacy and even finding it admirable how their fellow bear took over the army he once served and turned it into far more of fascist state in order to achieve his goals of dominion. The Tediz have offered to help AzulĂn to allow him to achieve his goals, viewing eliminating all unicorns as a way to further their conquests by removing powerful magic users from the Pantheon and those who'd dare to defend them. For this, Gordi made enemies with them and even found an unusual ally due to mutual enemies in Conker the Squirrel, while Conker might be a tad too crass and perverted to hang out constantly, he nonetheless appreciates some support to him; in turn Conker thinks of AzulĂn as a complete nutjob who needs to be stopped before he causes trouble for him.

In terms of Nier's Pantheon subpage, due to the fact Drakengard is set in the same universe, shouldn't they share a subpage under either Dakengard, Nier, or Yoko Taro?

Got a rework idea for everyone:

  • Admiral Razorbeard for Downer Beginning: The Big Bad of Rayman 2 and a warmongering conquer and space pirate, Razorbeard is singlehandedly responsible for the bleak beginning of the game, where he just got done weakening the magic of the Glade of Dreams and enslaved nearly all of its residents, including a despair-fueled Rayman. The entire game is based around undoing the damages he's done to the world. As for why it needs reworking, the profile itself consists mostly of outdated info and short texts.

All of Taro's gods has been added to his subpage, with the original Nier subpage as well. Updated the main video game page to reflect his status (as given he didn't just make Nier, I gave them the same treatment/placement as companies at the moment), and put the original subpage on the cutlist.

BTW, not to be a noodge, but as per previous comments, the Halls of Toxicity and Swords are in need of renaming due to their names occupying works with pages here. For them, I have two ideas for Toxicity's rename ("Toxicity and Poison" from me, and "Toxicity and Waste" from Venus) and one idea for Swords ("Swords and Sabres"). Any thoughts on the rename ideas, or additional name ideas for either?
