Main Characters

     Yukisaki Kuroki
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kuroki.png
Reiji, Shirone, Kaya, Kyouka, all the missing classmates, what are they doing here?
CLICK here to see him as a Dark Knight
The protagonist. He goes to bed in his bedroom, only to wake up surrounded by monsters and approached by Modes, the Demon King, begging for aid.
  • Absurdly Sharp Blade: His sword,Blood Sword, The Demonic Sword of Venous Blood. It has additional magical properties that cause agony to cut victims. Namely Reiji.
  • Adaptational Badass: In the rewritten version of Volume 4 he doesn't take Novis' bullshit lying down and makes it more satisfying to humiliate the self proclaimed heroes.
  • Animal Motif: His image is that of a dragon, usually peaceful and silent but fearsome when his reverse scale is touched.
  • Asskicking Leads to Leadership: Most denizens of Nargol listen to him whether they want to or not.
    • The Lizardmen and Dragonewts show reverence towards him for his dragon powers in Volume 4 and 6.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: He is a total sweet-heart, but as a boy summoned from "the spirit world," he's a walking, talking force of nature.
  • Black Knight: Literally calls himself "Dark Knight" and wears a suit of black armor.
  • Cannot Talk to Women: He is awkward around women. He gets over it after meeting Rena and Kuna.
  • Cool Helmet: Just look at it above.
  • Clueless Chick-Magnet: He is very handsome and attractive as noted by Rena, but doesn't feel like he is.His self esteem is a result of growing up with Shirone and girls never trying as Shirone kept them away from him or a result of his lack of experience.
  • Classical Antihero: He's got a good heart, but he's frequently crippled by lack of self-esteem, thanks to constantly being put down by his "friend" Shirone.
  • Childhood Friends: With Shirone. It doesn't last as she was his first love.In present day,he views her as a sort of troublesome sister vut does not outwardly display it.
  • Curbstomp Battle: Dealt this to Reiji twice. First is when he one-shotted Reiji with a slash that almost killed him if not for his blessings and Sahoko healing him afterwards and and the second is when they faced again in Volume 5, Kuroki beat him again with nothing but his fists. It humiliated Reiji so much that Rena had to go down herself to save her Reiji not because she wanted to save his life but to save her face and reputation as Reiji is still her champion.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: He wears black plate-mail, uses darkness based magic, and black flames, but he is genuinely heroic.
  • Defeat as Backstory: Being defeated by Reiji before the story starts cause him to Take a Level in Badass by training way more and as Kaya puts it,awaken his latent talents.
  • Defeating the Undefeatable: Beating Alphos has this effect and causes the heroes and villains alike to be in shock in Volume 6
  • Dragon Rider: His mount is Glorious,a Greater Dragon.
  • Dragon Knight: Kuroki has a Dragon Factor and has the powers of a Dragon.
  • Dragons Are Demonic: When he transforms into one he commands the fears of enemies and allies alike.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: Diehart. It gets scrapped in the rewrite. Past the first Volume, he is simply referred to as The Dark Knight.
  • Evil Sounds Deep: In Dark Knight form he has a deeper voice and is way cooler.
  • Gag Penis: Multiple people have stated that his penis is gigantic.
  • God of Thunder: Reknown as the Black Storm God and brings about storms where he goes after Volume 5
  • Grew a Spine: After being doted on by Kuna and palling around with Modes for a while, he becomes much, much less willing to simply tolerate Shirone's crap. She chose to go out with the philanderer Reiji; she gave up any right to dictate how he lives his life.
  • Horrifying the Horror: When Kuroki is first summoned, he is afraid of the denizens of Nargol. Ironically, they too are afraid of him. This extends to Ranfeld and the demon race.
  • Humble Hero: He pointedly does not want glory, fame, or extravagance. He is more than content to have a roof over his head, three square meals a day, and live in quiet obscurity with his lovely wife.
  • Master Swordsman: Strongest Class in the series.
  • Meaningful Name: His name holds the Japanese character for Kuro as the Black to Shirone's Shiro White.
    • Kuroki means Dark Tree.
    • Kuroki can also mean hope and expert.
    • Yukisaki can also mean Line Coast/Cape.
  • Master Actor: He can impersonate pretty much whatever he wants, a travelling minstrel, a butler, a vigilante militia, you name it.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: Kuroki as the Dark Knight.
  • Strong and Skilled: He gets stronger as time goes on and is so skilled in his swordmanship that he can No-Sell the heroes party more and more.
  • Save the Villain: Saving Reiji and the others is only going to be unwanted and allow them to cause him more pain. He does it anyway.
  • Seven Heavenly Virtues: He displays signs of this both as a Dark Knight and as Kuroki.
    • Charity: He will defend those who are in need. He protects Regena and even took some embarrassment from Zeal to defend Sienna. He even protects some Angels in Volume 8 knowing full well it wouldn't make them indebted to him. They just rub salt him with Alphos' insults.
    • Diligence: He keeps working harder and harder. He changed from the weak kid Shirone only knew to the strong teen who could fuel Reiji and slightly win. He even holds his own against the entire party in Volume 2. He in Volume 5 Curb Stomp Battles Reiji. He in Volume 6 defeats Alphos and Volume 7 proves to be a One-Man Army. Volume 8 has him challenge Zarxis overwhelmingly. Volume 9 has him overpower Ferion long enough. He slowly grows accustomed to the water in Volume 10.
    • Humility: Shirone beat him into losing his self-esteem and doesn't let the praise get to his head.
    • Kindness: Some of the residents of Nargol think he is a shining star and those Yarven humans who were blindly educated to follow the Elios gods start to believe in him and the chances of doubt in the Elios gods.
    • Patience: He is willing to wait for those he cares for.
    • Temperance: He doesn't lose sight of who he is.
  • Tranquil Fury: Seems calm and collected to others and commands fear of his enemies. He is flustered but doesn't outwardly show it.
  • Took a Level in Cynic: The more Kuroki spends time with the humans and the gods of Elios, the more his disappointment builds up with both as he witness the sheer cruelty and blind devotion on the heroes of the former and the callousness of the latter.
  • Technician Versus Performer: Kuroki is the Technician opposite to Reiji's Performer. Kuroki's fighting style is based on martial discipline and analytical observation. At first he was defeated by Reiji who fights with Confusion Fu but after analyzing Reiji's fighting style who fights like a wild animal, he trained rigorously for an eventual rematch. Later on their rematch in another world, Kuroki is able to counter Reiji that he can parry and dodge the latter's attack while dealing a fatal blow. It gets to a point that he doesn't even need to use his sword and still beat the crap out of Reiji that Rena had to intervene herself.
  • Unwanted Harem: The only girl he sought out is his wife Kuna. The rest were forced unto him by situations far beyond his control.
  • Underestimating Badassery: Anyone who looks at him without his Dark Knight Armour on is going to get it. For the fools who come after him even then, they are subject to Curb-Stomp Battle.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Depending on the circumstances.
    • He fights off Zafarada in Volume 8
  • Worf Had the Flu: Volume 10 has him face off against Reiji but in water. He is on the defensive but improves fast.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: He's always looked out for Shirone's well-being, but she chose to go date the playboy Reiji. She's the philanderer's problem now, and her happiness, or lack thereof, is out of his hands.

     Demon King Modes
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/f7541f45_8b33_4940_90db_bffd79518bd8.jpeg
Contrary to appearances,he's the nicest guy in the story.

The Demon King. A good friend of Kuroki and ironically the nicest amongst the divine beings in the story.

  • All-Powerful Bystander: Won't be seen directly fighting. His destruction powers are far too powerful and can cause more harm than good. It's for the best he doesn't use it and is is actually a Nice Guy.
  • Asskicking Leads to Leadership: This applies as he IS the Demon King and everyone not under him fears his power.
  • Beast and Beauty: With Mona.
  • Birds of a Feather: He relates to Kuroki because he's been where the latter is. He rescued the gods of Elios at horrible personal cost only to be looked upon with contempt. Kuroki fought off the Hero Party at horrific personal risk and tremendous personal loss, and the "demons" in Nargol look upon him the same way.
  • The Farmer and the Viper: He is the reason the gods of Elios even exist, and how do they thank him? They unanimously exile him as a result of Rena's Malicious Slander and False Rape Accusations from her angels and apostles, without trial in a Kangaroo Court. In the rewritten version, there was a ploy to plant panties of the Goddesses in his house and there was a planned retrial for him however,no one but Heibos and Odis would have supported him, as Heibos was a natural hermit and did not hear of this news while Odis had his hands tied due to the majority vote as most Goddesses of Darkness and Light had rallied through bribery or planned persuasion to exile him.The few friends he did have backing him had little to no influence left, or were not in Elios to begin with.
  • Guilt Complex: Even though his mother Nargol was so insane, violent, and insanely violent, that Modes had no choice but to take her down and kill her, he sees himself as a horrible "sinner" and secretly wants Kuroki to judge him and kill him.
  • Matricide: Feels extreme guilty over turning on Nargol for this.
    • Rugaas thought he did the right thing however.
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: He was the leader of a neutral party when his mother Nargol went full-tilt Yandere and launched a war of extermination against her husband's concubine Mina and all the children born from her, until Nargol went and murdered his wife. At this point, he was Neutral No Longer and sided with the gods of Elios to take her down as a Heart Broken Badass.
  • Questionable Consent: His wife Mona is a clone of Rena crafted to love him unconditionally, and they do have sex, but Mona is the initiator, far more often than not.
  • Satan Is Good: He's the demon king and is actually a (mostly) decent and good man. Kuroki states he trusts him and doesn't believe he deserved to be treated the way he was by Elios.

     Kuna, Kuroki's wife
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kuna_8.png
(To Shirone) Kuroki is my man. Keep your filthy claws off of him, BITCH!

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/7e2b3c7c_999a_4f75_9c0f_6edacb64aa4a.jpeg
Ai Illustrated by Author

A clone of Rena created by Kuroki, she loves only him and is a heroine.

  • Cute and Psycho: Adorable on one side, axe crazy on the other.
  • Gone Horribly Right: She dopes up Kuroki's tea with aphrodisiacs so he'd finally give her that good wall-banging sex she's been wanting since the day of her creation. She overdoses him, and he not only pounds her into a coma from the afterglow, but the six female retainers Mona sent to spy on them, and Regena the human princess also get their boots knocked so hard, Regena needed an Emergency Transformation to survive.
  • Hates Being Touched: Anyone not named Kuroki tries to touch her and she will get violent.
  • Mystical White Hair: Silver hair serves to show her vast magical power.
  • Meaningful Name: Her name is a mix of Silver in Japanese and Rena's name.
  • Psycho Supporter: She's only a sweetheart to Kuroki, to everyone else, she's very haughty, at best, murderously dangerous at worst.
  • Red Baron: "The silver witch".
  • Sinister Scythe: When she is being outfitted by the dwarves at Kuroki's and Modes's request, the dwarves provide her with a scythe and she's very proficient with it.
  • Slipping a Mickey: She feeds Kuroki not one, but two cups of herbal tea loaded to the hilt with powerful, magical aphrodisiacs that literally turn him into a raging sex machine that needs an orgy to sate, and even then threaten to overwhelm him and make him lose control weeks after the event.
  • Undying Loyalty: She will never, ever cheat on or betray Kuroki.
  • With This Ring: Kuroki very quickly provides her a set of matching wedding rings, one for her one for himself, so they can always track and teleport, if need be, to each other. She takes it romantically, and beams with joy. He planned it pragmatically, to keep her from going wild. He still loves her dearly, even knowing how she is. D'aww...
  • Yandere: A combination of the Clingy Jealous Girl and Violently Protective Girlfriend varieties. She will preemptively threaten any potential love rivals, and respond with any force, including lethal force, to anyone that tries to take Kuroki from her. She will, however, tolerate other women in Kuroki's sphere of influence if they honor her superiority and have definitively proven that they're neither threats nor rivals.

    Glorious
Kuroki's Darkness Dragon Mount. A Greater Dragon.

Hero of Light's Party

     Common To All
The party focused around Reiji with the addition of Midou Kyouka and Takayama Kaya.
  • Adaptation Personality Change: According to the other wiki, the author realized how loathsome and unsympathetic the original drafts of the characters were and went through quite a few changes to try and redeem them, key word being try.
    • Shirone, as listed below, was originally a domestic abuser who chose to become Reiji's bed-partner, but still sees Kuroki as "hers" and refuses to let him date anyone else. She is rewritten to be a deconstruction of the "so dense light bends around them" protagonist, doesn't understand the meaning of "love," and was forced to be Reiji's bodyguard by her family (aunt-in law) , but started to develop feelings for him because he pulled a Rescue Reversal, defeating, bare-handed, the thugs who came at her with lead-pipes as she was defending fellow female classmates with the only weapon she had, a wooden training sword. The only reason she doesn't wind up in his bed in the new version is because Sahoko, Chiyuki, and Nao intervene and keep that from happening.
    • Reiji is given a Freudian Excuse as to why he can't see other men as anything else besides competition over pretty girls that he has to crush, whatever it takes, and at best will treat them as non-existent unless a pretty girl he's trying to woo asks him to help them.
  • Action Girl: All of them, except Kyouka and Reiji(he's a male). She manages to avert it later on in Volume 4.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: In addition to changing their personalities, the author switched up their relationship dynamics.
    • Sahoko was originally written to be Reiji's much older half-sister, but this design was scrapped and she was instead made into a Clingy Jealous Girl lover who doesn't like Reiji seducing (or trying) every girl in sight, but still does nothing to stop or rebuke him.
    • Shirone originally chose to start dating Reiji after he defeated Kuroki in a kendo spar. While that's still true, the rewrite had Kuroki and Shirone break up their friendship because Shirone, blinded by her Hero-Worshipper fangirling, refused to acknowledge Kuroki's genuine criticism of Reiji's many flaws, most notably the skirt-chasing.
    • Kaya didn't even exist in the original work, and was brought in as Kyouka's Ninja Maid bodyguard.
  • Attention Whore: They absolutely, positively have to be in the limelight.
  • Action Girlfriend: Excluding Kyouka and Kaya, the rest of the party is this.
  • Beware the Superman: Though they don't know it, they are more powerful than the local gods, and as much as they get public admiration, they also get private fear and resentment, due to the fact that when they act out, nobody can stop them.
  • Bullying a Dragon: If Kuroki ever wanted them dead, it would be an easy task for him, but they near constantly go and self-righteously antagonize him "trying to bring him back" or in the case of Reiji, just straight up trying to kill him to eliminate the competition.
  • Battle Harem: Self explanatory. Except for Kaya and Kyouka.
  • Deconstructed Character Archetype: They showcase what it's like to be on the receiving end of a world suddenly having a bunch of Stock Light Novel Heroes suddenly dropped on it, and given carte blanche to do pretty much whatever they want "in the heroic quest to save the world."
  • Destructive Savior: On those rare instances when they do actual acts of heroism, they care not a whit about collateral damage. It's far more accurate to consider them walking, talking natural disasters, as they always bring chaos in their wake and then leave the area, caring not a whit about what comes after, and then have the nerve to resent being resented for it.
  • Did Not Think This Through: They never, ever consider the long-term consequences of their actions. The one area where they get a marginally passing grade is not meddling with the slave-trade of non-humans, primarily because they view the lives of non-humans as beneath those of humans, not because they don't have the tools to deal with the fall-out of Slave Liberation.
  • Dramatic Irony: The decry Modes for supposedly brainwashing Kuroki, always justifying Kuroki's genuine heroics as "the brainwashing isn't complete yet," but all of them follow Rena around, and Rena is willing and able to use brainwashing, including drugging Kuroki with a Love Potion and rapes him to get herself pregnant.
  • Fantastic Racism: At best, they view non-humans as livestock.
    • They see humans enslaved by "demon" races (ie non-humans) and they immediately mobilize to kill off the non-humans, even if that makes everything worse in the long-run. When humans do the same in reverse, they, at best, feel mild pangs of guilt but do nothing.
  • Fight Magnet: They offend a lot of people and chaos follows them around a lot.
  • Good Is Dumb: They mean well, they really do, but they are so devoted to following Reiji around, and he's so devoted to following Rena's clearly suspicious commands, just because she has a pretty face, and Reiji would love to bang her, that they often do far more harm than good.
  • Jack Bauer Interrogation Technique: They do this and consider torture on their enemies as honorable.
  • Murder Is the Best Solution: Their default reaction to any difficulty is to whip out the lethal force to whatever or whoever annoys them. This is doubly true for Reiji, especially when it comes to anyone who is not a pretty face.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: They are responsible for numerous major disasters that Kuroki had to go clean up. The list below covers the most well known:
    • They take on a quest to deal with a group of Striges (harpy-like creatures that are part owl, part woman) which were going around grabbing children and eating them. Fair enough, but after killing a few, called it a day and left. Since they never made certain the task was complete, the queen Strige infiltrated the capital of Rox, where the incidents took place, and schemed with the evil god Zarxis for revenge, which would have doomed the country if Kuroki hadn't just happened to be there for his own purposes.
    • The people of Algore are pretty rough and tumble, and they settle all their disputes with a hearty fist-fight, going right back to being drinking buddies the next day. Rather than even bothering to learn about this custom, Reiji reacts by drawing his sword and responding with lethal force to one and all, including the royal knights. This leads the other clans, who are butt-hurt the royal family, which inlcudes Regena, has been on the throne too long, to launch a civil war, using the Hero's outrage as a pretext, killing Quintus, and exiling Regena's entire clan to a goblin's nest, where Kuroki finds them.
    • En route to Vellos to attend a ball, Shirone, Chiyuki, Kyouka, and Kaya stop at a quaint little town to rest their mounts, and are set upon by the corrupt mayor and his lackeys who wanted to feed them to an ogre. Granted, they were acting entirely in self-defense, but when they stormed the ogre's castle and killed the ogre, they went and destroyed his porn stash. This led to the ogre's parents and brothers swearing bloody vengeance and chasing them down.
    • At the Vellos ball, the ogres catch up to them and attack. During the fight, Regena defends herself with the sword Kuroki provides her. In response Shirone captures Regena, and the "heroes" then kite the ogres to Algore, with the denizens of Algore stoning and threatening Regena on the way. At several points, the "heroes" even go on to threaten Regena with torture for not wanting to cooperate with this inane "plan" of theirs.
    • When they get to Algore, rather than let Kuroki help fight off the ogres, they get in his way! This allows Goz/Parish to summon an eldritch horror right in the center of the country... And they wonder why the country hates them.
    • They just wade into danger in Volume 4 and has to get Kuroki's help in saving them or they would be gangraped and murdered by Labrys and his goons.
    • Their actions in trying to assassinated Daraugon in Volume 10 only serve to intensify the conflict they started and allows an opportunity for Turkissos to be kidnapped by the Villainous Giant.
  • Narnia Time: As a result of being isekai'd, missing person posters went up back home. When Kuroki is summoned, he learns that for him it's been about a week since they disappeared, but for them, they've been in the new world for half a year, killing and raiding as they went.
  • Nominal Hero: They're only heroes because goddess Rena says they are. They rarely do anything truly heroic, and then the wind has to blow just right so they don't actually wind up making everything worse, short or long term. In fact, Kuroki has to clean up after them far more often than not.
  • Screw The Rules I Have Super Natural Powers: The last time someone tried to offend them, they triggered a freaking civil war by killing the King's Knight order, when Reiji got into a bar brawl...
  • The Meddling Kids Are Useless: They always get in Kuroki or anyone else of the main cast's way and can't see why they aren't liked, especially as they do nothing to prevent the tragedies they fix in the first place.
  • The Victim Must Be Confused: They can't bring themselves to see how they're wrong for treating all non-humans as livestock, at best, or why Kuroki would want to serve Modes, even when Rena trips over her own propaganda, so they conclude that the "despicable" demon king must be using some kind of brainwashing magic on him, and if "freeing" him requires straight up murdering his wife, so be it.
  • Unwitting Pawn: Because they just follow Reiji around, and he never questions Rena's doctrine, because she's a pretty face he wants to woo, they are little more than glorified mass-murderers.
  • Violence is the Only Option: Whenever they are inconvenienced in the slightest, they extrapolate to make it that humanity as a whole is inconvenienced and whoever or whatever is the inconvenience has to be hunted down, and killed if need be. For example, in chapter 62.5, the ship they are riding is set upon by giant crabs. Though they beat the crabs with ease, they immediately presume that the crab attack is a symptom of an earlier incident where somehow the non-human gladiatorial slaves escaped, with all of them wanting to find "the culprit" and Reiji in particular wanting to level the city to try and find "it."
  • The Villain Knows Where You Live: Anyone who wants to fight them can find them easily as they don't bother with stealth or concealing information at all.
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: They act as if they're in some kind of VR game and all the non-humans they kill and all their actions will somehow magically take care of themselves.

     Midou Reiji
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/reiji_8.png
So that Kuroki is a gay being lovey dovey with the grotesque Modes and stuck with that guy's equally hideous daughter? Bwahahaha! What a loser!!

The "Hero of Light" chosen by Goddess Rena.

  • Always Save the Girl: Deconstructed. He will dive head-first into any situation where it looks like a pretty girl is in trouble, regardless of who's responsible, and at all costs, repeatedly abandoning his party in grave danger, if not mortal peril, as a result.
    • When it comes to making efforts to rescue others, he will only rescue girls, human or otherwise, with a pretty face. Where it concerns men, or maybe even children, and especially "ugly" women, he won't even acknowledge they exist unless some pretty girl he's trying to woo begs him to offer aid.
  • Animal Motif: Chiyuki compares him to a male lion. Dignified, on the surface, always looking to build as big a pride for himself as possible, but trying to bite other males to death when they get too close.
  • The Brute: His "fighting style" is no style at all, but really an instinctive lashing out like a wild beast.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Is this as the story begins but trains hard with Shirone. He is still nothing to Kuroki.
  • Badass Cape: Has a cloak. Still means nothing to Kuroki.
  • Chivalrous Pervert: Inverted. A chivalrous pervert clearly likes fanservice from the ladies, but their well-being is his primary concern. For Reiji, the fanservice is his top priority, the well-being of the ladies in his sphere of influence is, at best, a secondary concern. He once proudly marched his entire harem, including his younger sister, through a crowded street in clearly fetishistic clothes, purely for his own amusement, with a flimsy pretext "to catch the pervert who felt up Kyouka."
  • Complaining About Rescues They Don't Like: Far more than complaining, actually. When Kuroki and Shirone show up to bail them out in their fight with Labrys, he straight up attacks Kuroki. While it may have looked like Kuroki and Reiji were fighting in tag-team style against Labrys, what was really going on is Labrys getting hit by blows that Kuroki avoided.
  • Confusion Fu: The reason he went undefeated back on Earth is that martial arts are designed to fight against humans, but he fights like a wild beast, so the first time someone fights him, his movements are near impossible to read. Kuroki defeats him with ease as the "Dark Knight" back at the start because he's faced Reiji before and easily saw through his moves.
  • Fatal Flaw: Lust, overconfidence, and pride has repeatedly led him to put himself and his party in needless danger, but he never, ever learns his lesson.
  • Glory Hound: He has to get all the praise and glory. Having to share the limelight with anyone but his fellow party members will sour his mood, at best, but he'll pretend otherwise if the one he's sharing the glory with is a pretty girl that he wants to bang.
  • Harem Seeker: Having a party of the four most beautiful women from his high-school isn't enough. He's always on the prowl for more and more women to screw around with. In fact, he will Rescue Romance a new girl at the drop of a hat, no matter how that puts the rest of his party in peril. He gets called out on it, repeatedly, but never mends his ways.
  • Heroic Bastard: With "heroic" being defined very, very loosely. He's the product of an illicit tryst between his father, a high-ranking member of the Midou clan, and an unnamed foreign woman. For unstated reasons, he is officially adopted into and made an heir of the clan, after being taken care of in the Yoshino household.
  • Hero Antagonist: Depending on how you view hero. He lacks amy real heroic qualities and only women who follow his really view him as such. Barring the hero part,he is an antagonist and is fated to never defeat Kuroki.
  • Hypocrite: He loudly proclaims "men must face their own challenges alone" as an excuse to ignore them when they are in clear distress, while focusing on girls with a pretty face, but when he one-sidedly attacks "Diethard" in a self-righteous rematch, not even caring that his attacks might well jeaopardize the very silver dragon Rena sent the party to "rescue," he has his entire harem help him attack 7 on 1. Even then, the only reason they actually won the fight is because Kuroki actually cared about the possible collateral damage and didn't go all out.
  • I Can Still Fight!: He tries his hardest to never lose in front of a woman.Too bad he tries against Kuroki.
  • Kick the Dog: When he hears that there are brainwashing magics in the world, and it is possible for Kuroki to be enthralled to Demon King Modes against his will, he laughs and loudly proclaims "what a loser!" mocking Kuroki's hypothetical plight.
  • Kissing Cousins: He is this with Rino as she is stated to be related to him in some way but still has intimate relations with him.
  • Lethally Stupid: He repeatedly puts his party in peril because he takes the word of a pretty face as gospel, and straight up abandons the party to go Rescue Romance pretty girls outside the party while his group is already in mortal peril.
  • Light Is Not Good: He wields light-based magic as his transmigration "cheat," but he's an adulterous skirt-chasing cuckold whose best feature is that he runs off to "rescue" pretty girls regardless of the situation.
  • Meaningful Name: His name means Beautiful Samurai if translated directly. His name Reiji can also be read as Rage in a rough English translation. Reiji can also mean Child. Guess how he acts like.
  • Moral Myopia: He led an armed invasion into Nargol, mass-murdered the inhabitants, and nearly loses his life when he agrees to a one on one duel, with the "Dark Knight" fighting in self-defense, yet attacks Kuroki as "the EVIL Dark knight" every chance he gets.
  • Politically Incorrect Hero: He's homophobic, and outright laughs when the rest of the party theorize that Kuroki sides with the "evil" Modes because the demon king force-fed him a magical love potion. In the rewritten version this is downplayed but still applies.
  • The Pornomancer: He's always going around looking for pretty girls, to get into their pants, and he will ditch his harem party for them in the blink of an eye, no matter how dire the situation. He further seems to have some kind of magical power where he just smiles warmly at a woman and her clothes just seem to fall off. Even Chiyuki, who repeatedly states that the only good thing about him is his looks, gets soaked panties when he turns this smile on her, and she can barely keep her wits about her.
  • Psychological Projection: Since he's a shameless skirt-chasing pervert, then all guys have to be lewd perverts and he gets mad at Kyouki for taking a clearly shit-faced drunk Shirone on a separate barge, away from the revelry and crowd to sleep it off.
  • Suicidal Overconfidence: He always considers himself the winner in any fight, regardless of who starts it. His one on-screen near-fatal loss to Kuroki at the start of the story failed to enlighten him.
  • Technician Versus Performer: Reiji is the Performer opposite to Kuroki's Technician. Reiji fight like a wild animal which is combined with his reflexes makes him a tought opponent but once his pattern is studied he can be dealt easily to the point that Kuroki doesn't need a sword to beat him.
  • Unlocking the Talent: After his defeat at Kuroki's hands, he begins to train however is unable to match Kuroki no matter what he does.
  • Villain Forgot to Level Grind: The reason why he was curbstomped repeatedly by Kuroki. Reiji's stats may be strong but the problem is that he half-ass everything he did that he basically stunted his own growth, not helped he would rather spend time chasing and sleeping with women. It bit him on the ass greatly when Kuroki showed up who is more powerful than him in terms of power and combat strength that his tricks won't work on the former. The only reason that he was not dead is that Kuroki was simply a Nice Guy and in worse cases Rena would save his ass not because she likes him but to save her reputation as she didn't want to be embarrassed by his death.
  • Self-Proclaimed Love Interest: He declares that he is her love. She obviously disagrees. However for her, everyone seems to believe him.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: He's a brute that wins his fights by completely overwhelming his opponents with raw power and having an amazing agility that allows attacks from their blind spots by employing a bit of Confusion Fu. Against someone who can match his reflexes and knows about his tricks, he's a chump who can be taken down bare-handed.
  • Villain Decay: Kuroki doesn't take him seriously as time goes on.
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: Reiji thought that he was living in a Eroge RPG, little did he know he was nothing more than am Unwitting Pawn that Rena is willing to ditch him once her son with Kuroki is ready to take his place as a hero.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Without his harem around he would.

     Suiouji Chiyuki

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1403cae3_82bf_44b4_86f5_f5994e5d4100.png
Ai Illustrated by Author

The party's top mage. The main and supporting protagonist of the "heroes" side.

  • Black Mage: She specializes in attack magic.
  • Death Glare: She glares at Reiji every time he philanders or puts the party in peril, but he either ignores it or turns on his pornomancer charm, leaving her too hot and bothered to do anything but weakly try and resist his advances.
  • Instant Expert: Deconstructed. Because she mastered her magic near instantly, she's unable to help Reiji's younger sister learn how to use her magic effectively, leaving the poor girl trapped "housesitting" and helpless if she has to try avoiding friendly fire in a close combat situation.
  • Meaningful Name: Her name Suiouji can mean Water King.
    • It can also mean temple
    • Chi in Chiyuki can mean scatter, Intellect, Wisdom, Thousand
    • Yuki can mean Journey, Row, Line, Happiness, Fortune, Snow.
  • Only Sane Man: She's the only one in the party who realises that Rena's story doesn't add up, and Rena's leaving a great deal unanswered, but either Reiji preempts her or Rena threatens her into going along with it.
  • They Just Dont Get It: She constantly gets dragged along by the party, given the mushroom treatment by Rena, if not veiled threats, and notices how Reiji is always on the prowl for hot chicks to bang, literally screwing the party over, yet she just keeps going back to Rena with all her questions, almost never considering getting information from another source, and the one time she did consider it, she discarded the idea as impractical when said source, Kuroki, became available.
  • Team Mom: Constantly has to babysit the party and is frustrated at their troubles.

     Yoshino Sahoko
The party's healer.

Ai Illustrated by Author

generate barriers.
  • But We Used a Condom!: Subverted. According to the other wiki, since she lets Reiji bang her like a rabbit in heat, without any protection, she does eventually wind up pregnant with his child, and is made to "house sit" as a result.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: She grew up with Reiji in her household and is intimate with him at present.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Though she does nothing to rebuke or discourage him, she clearly does not like the fact that Reiji is a shameless skirt chaser.
  • Friends with Benefits: She and Reiji are (behind a wall) narrated as banging like rabbits in heat, and they're not married, despite the populace calling Reiji's harem "Reiji's wives."
  • Healing Hands: She specializes in healing magic.
  • Holy Hand Grenade: She casts healing magic by channeling holy element mana.
  • Meaningful Name: The Yoshino of her name can mean Cherry Tree Field.
    • The Sahoko can also mean to help someone.
    • The Sahoko can also mean Guaranteed Bloom.
    • The Sahoko of her name can mean Ear, Spike, Sand or Child.
    • Sahoko can even also mean Friend.

     Sasaki Rino
The mood maker of the party and a relative of Reiji's family.

Ai Illustrated by Author

  • Accidental Discovery: She once accidentally turned a human into a familiar. There is yet no way known to reverse the process.
  • Fluffy Tamer: Her transmigration granted quirk allows her to tame monsters for the party to use as mounts. The most common on-screen mount are gryphons.
  • Kissing Cousins: With Reiji. She is stated to be related to him but still has intimate relations with him.
  • Living Lie Detector: Using her lie detection magic allows her to check if it is a lie depending on the target's beliefs, however it can be negated if the target truly believes it as in Believing Their Own Lies or if they use lie magic which then turns it into a magical clash.
  • Meaningful Name: Sasaki of her name can mean help, aid or tree and wood.
    • Rino can also mean Autumn.
    • Rino can also mean possessive particle.
  • Shipper with an Agenda: She wants Kuroki to take Shirone away for her to get more of Reiji. She thinks he is handsome but is dissuaded from thinking about chasing him by her stories of him.

     Todoroki Naomi
The ranger of the "heroes" party.

Ai Illustrated by Author

  • Achievements in Ignorance: She captures Nut, Kuroki's Talking Animal that he was using to keep an eye on the party, and treats it like a pet. On some level, she realizes this because when Kuroki asks her to give it up, she happily turns the rat over, at which point, Nut beams openly voices his gratitude for being rescued by Kuroki, personally.
  • Combat Sadomasochist: She has a tendency to be sadistic in combat. According to the Character Index, she originally had a dark personality but puts on a mask of happiness. In Volume 8 She tells Chiyuki that Cats do not have to think about the feelings of mice, hinting there is more to her than meets the eye.
  • Cat Girl: As a result of transmigrating, she becomes a theriantrope, and can shapeshift into a half-man, half-tiger.
  • Gratuitous Ninja: Applies as she dresses like one but doesn't display feats of stealth well or at all.
  • Meaningful Name: Naomi can mean beautiful thread/yarn, alluding to her cat-like behavior.
    • Todoroki can mean car, wheel, vehicle.
    • Her name can also mean Ice and Fire.
  • Necessary Drawback: When she shapeshifts, she gains Super-Senses in return for losing strength and agility.

Ai Illustrated by Author

Kuroki's Childhood Friend. She's the one mostly responsible for his crushing low self-esteem at the start of the story. She is well known as The Sword Maiden.

  • Anger Born of Worry: Towards Kuroki. He doesn't feel the same.
  • Bodyguard Crush: Subverted. Word of God states that she has no romantic feelings for Reiji.
  • Belated Love Epiphany: Deconstructed. She thinks it means that she values Kuroki as a friend. She also only follows Reiji but only as he plays "hero" roles.
  • Comically Missing the Point: When she hears of Omiros and Regena, she thinks of the Kouga Ninja Scrolls, while Kyouka and Kaya think of Romeo and Juliet.
  • Crocodile Tears: One of the levers she's fond of pulling to emotionally manipulate Kuroki. When she tries it to attempt manipulating him to turn on Modes, and let her murder Kuna, he tells her to stuff it. That crap's not going to work any more.
  • Domestic Abuse: The signs of serious emotional abuse are all there. During their childhood "friendship" and in the present, Shirone socially isolates Kuroki, insults him to all her friends behind his back, puts him down to his face by telling him he falls short in comparison to others, and even though she absolutely refuses to date him herself, she considers him "hers" and will attack any other girl he dares even talk to. She even tried to straight up murder Kuna when the latter told her Kuroki was her man and to back the hell off. The fanbase notes that it's amazing Kuroki's not downright suicidal after all that.
  • Double Standard: Abuse, Female on Male: She abused Kuroki so much but doesn't see it that way.She can't fathom why Kuroki isn't at her side.
  • First Love: To Kuroki. At present, he no longer feels as strongly.
  • He Is Not My Boyfriend: She is confronted about it by the other girls but always denies that Kuroki is her boyfriend.
  • Hero-Worshipper: She idolizes Reiji as an Ideal Hero and absolutely refuses to acknowledge his flaws
  • Heroic Wannabe: She chose Reiji over Kuroki before the story began because she sees Reiji's Always Save the Girl theatrics like the Shonen Jump type "hero" that she adores and that's the kind of guy she wants to hang with.
  • Hypocrite: It's okay for her to go into Kuroki's bedroom and through his possessions unannounced, and without permission, then destroying anything (incluing a Porn Stash) that she doesn't like, but Kuroki going into her belongings even with permission? NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.
  • Hypocritical Heartwarming: She may be a Manipulative Bitch who "innocently" emotionally abuses Kuroki, but anyone else (aside from Reiji) who messes with him will get hurt. Novis, "the Fire Hero," as he's trying to cozy up to her and have her teach him swords-play, so he can have an edge against Reiji, sees the "attendant" Kuroki and decides the best way to earn her favor is to punch Kuroki in the face "being a parasite that just wants to get into her skirt." Shirone goes nuts, can't be restrained, and starts chasing him around with a sword, trying to chop him to pieces.
  • Jerkass Realization: Though she deludes herself for most of the story into thinking she's done nothing wrong, when chapter 80 rolls around, she comes to realize that she is the reason her relationship with Kuroki soured, there's no brainwashing magic involved, and her attempts to strike down Kuna for "manipulating" him were entirely without merit, as Kuroki and Kuna are genuinely in love with each other. She also sees, first hand, that Reiji isn't as genuinely heroic as she believed when he tries to corner Kuroki in a duel, refusing to let the latter withdraw, and is soundly beaten, barehanded, while he's howling like a Sore Loser.
  • Magic Knight: Equally proficient with swordsmanship and magic.
  • Meaningful Name: The 'Shiro'White to Kuroki's Black 'Kuro'
    • Shirone can mean white noise. This alludes to her getting in the way of Kuroki's love.
    • Akamine can mean Red Peak as her rage.
  • Oblivious to Love: She's rewritten from being genuinely abusive to being denser than a quantum singularity and simply not understanding her own feelings, let alone the feelings of others towards herself.
  • Power Gives You Wings: She's frequently confused for an angel because her "cheat" ability manifests wings when she draws upon her mana.
  • Selective Obliviousness: She completely turns a blind eye to all of Reiji's unpleasant traits, especially his philandry.
  • With Friends Like These...: Some friend she is, treating Kuroki like property, not a pal...
  • Weak, but Skilled: Honestly she is only strong as she is considered by this world's standards.Without her sword or friends around she's too weak to fight.
  • Yandere: Of the Clingy Jealous Girl variety. Although she refuses to date Kuroki, she sees him as a possession and goes murderous if she thinks he's "cheating" by being anywhere near another girl. When she and Kuna meet, the both of them try to straight up murder each other.

     Midou Kyouka

Ai Illustrated by Author

Reiji's younger sister. She is revealed in the story as Rena is planning to send Chiyuki and Shirone back "to the world of the spirits."

  • Abomination Accusation Attack: When Kuroki catches her, after her own bodyguard knocks her over, the momentum of her fall causes her to fall on Kuroki in a way that at least one of his hands lands on her chest. She decries him as "pervert" from that point on.
  • Big Brother Worship: To the point that she starts the story as a raging bro-con. Fortunately, she outgrows it. Because Kuroki treats her kindly.
  • Having a Blast: Her magical power manifests as explosions.
  • Meaningful Name: The Midou of her name means beauty. It speaks for itself. Kyouka also can stand for fragrant flower. It speaks for her chastity and attractiveness.
  • Playing with Fire: Her real power is manipulating flames, but because of Power Incontinence, wound up causing explosions.
  • Power Incontinence: Unlike the rest of the Hero Party who mastered their powers instantly, she struggled. Desperate to catch up, she put way, way too much "oomph" behind her spells, causing explosions and actually holding her back. Just one training session with Kuroki, where he simply told her "relax your shoulders," and she gained enough confidence to relax, and actually manages to cast her magic without blowing up everything around her. Unfortunately, she needs to work on her aim, but this is still a marked improvement.
  • Self-Serving Memory: She decries Kuroki as a "pervert" because his hand wound up on her chest, but conveniently forgets the fact that she tripped over herself and crashed on him first.
  • Young Entrepreneur: She's Reiji's younger sister, meaning she's in her early teens, and runs a very, very prosperous trading company in the new world. She took this up as a hobby because she was stuck "house-sitting" the vast majority of the time. It's unknown how much of her success is due to her business acumen, and how much is due to her influence as a "hero," since she's shown confiscating a mansion belonging to the husband of a hostile, non-human spy and agent provocateur.

     Takayama Kaya

Ai Illustrated by Author

Kyouka's maid and bodyguard.

  • Attack on the Heart: Her signature move. Her fists release energy through out destroy the interior of the hardened bodies and pierces through armour. It usually shatters hearts literally and figuratively.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: Fights hand to hand without weapons or magic, using her Tourmaline Gloves.
  • Meido: Does everything a maid does and fights well.
  • Meaningful Name: Takayama of her name means High Mountain if translated directly and speaks to her skills. Kaya of her name can mean to her long distance from others, home or rock.
    • Irony: Kaya to English readers can mean Kaya as in coconut jam.
  • Ninja Maid: Is the maid serving under Kyouka and is well versed in combat.
  • Undying Loyalty: To Kyouka. This is as they have been together for many years, since she was weak in the past and fornerly had Kyouka defending her from bullies. In present day, their roles have been reversed.
  • You Shall Not Pass!: She tries to hold Kuroki back as he's trying to intervene in the fight between Kuna and Shirone.

Children born between otherworlders.

    Kouki
The child between Rena and Kuroki.

    Sanako
The child of Reiji and Sahoko. Currently an infant.

  • Divine Parentage: She is a Divine Being as the story treats otherworlders as Divine beings.
  • Precocious Crush: On Kouki. He is at best a few months older than her, but divine beings grow faster. He doesn't understand why she likes him.

Gods of Elios Pantheon:

Tropes that apply to all of them
The Gods that reside in Elios and unite there.
     Odis
The God King of Elios. The God of Law and Contracts. The First Pillar Of the Elios Pantheon.
  • Asskicking Leads to Leadership: The strongest of the Elios gods and the one in charge. however Modes is way stronger compared to him,and seeks to actively avoid conflict.
  • The Ghost: He's frequently mentioned, but has yet to make an appearance. He first appears at the Epilogue of Volume 9 discussing with Heibos on how to deal with the Apophis faction, and his relations with Modes, and by extension Kuroki.
  • God of Order: His followers maintain it.
  • God's Hands Are Tied: The reason why he doesn't enter the story is because he's busy trying to maintain the sun.
  • God Couple: With Feria.
  • Happily Married: To Feria.
  • Henpecked Husband: Weak to Feria alone.
  • Living Lie Detector: The same deal as Rino.
    • his followers also get a fraction of that same magic.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Oh does he try. Even before the story began,he was a figurehead ruler trying to bring order to the unrestrained Gods of Elios. He was unable to punish his son Thores after the death of his friend Volgas and caused many Gods to leave Elios. He in present day has his hands full dealing with the chaos and was not amused to hear of Kuroki clashing with his Holy Knight Order. To add insult to injury, Rena's news of Diadona and Zarxis' resurrection adds a heavy load as Elios is in a frenzy.

    Feria
The Goddess of Marriage and Love.Queen of Elios. One of The Three Graces. The Second Pillar of the Elios Pantheon.

  • Abusive Parents: To Totona. She nags her for anything she perceives her daughter is not to her standards.
  • God Couple: With Odis.
  • Happily Married: To Odis.
  • Irony: She is the Goddess that defines a "perfect" mother but doesn't fit the mold as Totona is rebellious towards her for her actions and because she didn't raise her properly.
  • Nice Girl: except when Modes or any of Nargol's blood is involved.
  • Slut-Shaming: Subverted. She and Ishtia get along fine.
    • Their followers on the other hand hate each other.

Ai Illustrated by the Author
The (self-proclaimed) Goddess of Wisdom and War.Goddess of Wisdom and Victory. One of The Three Graces.
  • Animal Eye Spy: Invoked. When Modes created Mona, Rena was forced to see through Mona's eyes and hear through Mona's ears, especially when Modes and Mona were active in the bedroom, which is repulsive and horrifying, as she finds Modes physically abhorrent. When Kuna is created, for reasons that remain unexplained, the phenomenon shifts to Kuna instead, and since Rena finds Kuroki sexy, it's a far more pleasant experience.
  • Beauty Is Bad: Canonically the World's Most Beautiful Woman, and a deceptive manipulator who summoned the Hero Party and sent them to try and kill Modes, not to mention launched a smear campaign against him when he was still a god of Elios, just because she considered him ugly.
  • Dating Catwoman: She and Kuroki have a very complicated relationship. On the one hand, they are on opposite sides of the conflict between the country of Nargol and the country of Elios. On the other hand, Kuroki is the only guy on the planet who treats her as a person, not a lust object, an idol of worship, or both, and the two of them have a child together as a result of her actions.
  • Double Standard: Rape, Divine on Mortal: She tries to drug Kuroki's drink with a Love Potion that is all but incurable, but winds up drugging her own drink by mistake. Under its effects, she rapes Kuroki, mind-wipes him the next morning, and then holds him responsible for the resulting pregnancy.
  • False Rape Accusation: She gets Modes banished from Elios by falsely claiming that he sexually assaulted her and her angels in a Kangaroo Court.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: She drugs herself with her highly illegal Love Potion because she thinks Kuroki is going to give her the herbal tea and drink the liquor Renem's wife provided, not realizing that the reverse is true. Oops.
  • I Love You Because I Can't Control You: She's smitten with Kuroki because he's not only moderately handsome, but is the only guy on the planet, god and mortal alike, that isn't constantly trying to get into her skirt, and isn't constantly trying to suck up to her, treating her as a genuine person, not a freaking Lust Object.
  • Informed Attribute: She's known as the goddess of wisdom, but her on-screen actions haven't been very wise.
  • Jerkass God: This goes without saying. Anyone that would kidnap a group of teenagers, and then use them as disposable weapons of mass destruction, not to mention slandering a fellow god for the "crime" of wanting to marry her and being ugly, can't be described any other way.
  • Love Redeems: After falling for Kuroki, she's just the tiniest bit less of a Jerkass God.
  • Lust Object: Aside from Kuroki, every male, mortal and god alike, is constantly wooing her purely to get into her skirt, and she hates it.
  • Manipulative Bitch: She will lie, scheme, even drug and brainwash people to get her way.
  • Meaningful Name: Her name Rena is too common a name and caused the author to make her full name Alrena.
    • her name is also similar to a few Goddesses in mythology.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Because she forces her way into the house as Kuroki's "date", and then drugs herself with a Love Potion, she leaves behind her magic-suppression necklace. Kuroki later uses this tool to hide his pet dragon, Glorious, from the eyes of the Hero Party who would happily kill it with self-righteous zeal.
  • One Dialogue, Two Conversations: Everytime Rena talks about her knight, everyone presumes its Reiji, little did they know she was really talking about her Black Knight, Kuroki.
  • Sour Outside, Sad Inside: She actually has very, very good reason to be a raging bitch. Among the gods, the good and faithful ones are all extremely physically repulsive, with Modes taking the lead and being extremely insistent on marriage either with her or one of her angel and apostle subordinates, and when he's exiled, uses a lock of her hair to make a clone that he boinks every night, and she's forced to see it! The physically attractive gods are all morally questionable, with multiple mistresses, at best. She's constantly hounded by all of them as a Lust Object, with her own brother constantly pushing her to marry someone, even though he and Rena know that whoever she marries will be the immediate target of murderous rage and envy from everyone else. The one guy who treats her like a person, and she actually likes, goes and makes a clone of her too!
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: She was planning on banishing Shirone and Chiyuki for asking too many inconvenient questions through the summoning equipment to some other random world, or to the Void Between the Worlds, and when Kuroki shows up, destroying the scheme and the equipment, she lies and states "Dark Knight Diethart" destoyed the ritual equipment because he feared she was summoning even more "heroes" instead.

  • The Hermit: He just holes up in his smithy, almost never stepping out.
  • Nice Guy: He’s the most reasonable character other than Modes. When faced by Rena,he sees her for who she was and is Modes’ friend through and through as Modes is the only guy who treats him like an equal. He treats the rest of Modes forces well and like Kuroki for his genuine kindness.
  • Only Friend: Among the people of Elios, he's the only one friendly to Modes.
  • Spanner in the Works: He provides a copy of the summoning equipment to Modes after Rena has used hers to summon the Hero Party. If not for that, Reiji and crew would have been unstoppable and Modes would be dead, along with Mona, and everyone in Nargol.
  • Ugly Guy, Hot Wife:Is married to Sekhmetra and has a daughter with her.Was also formerly married to Ishtia for unknown reasons.

  • Meaningful Name: Her name is similar to Rena as she is a clone of her.
  • Manchurian Agent: She is completely unaware that Rena sees what she sees and hears what she hears. • Omnicidal Maniac: She couldn't accept the existence of Mina and her children, so launched a war of extermination on them all, managing to kill Medina, but her Arranged Marriage Husband Orgis fought back, despite being far weaker, giving the gods of Elios a chance.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: She's responsible for blowing up half the sun, and Modes, her son, is even stronger.
  • Post Humous Character: She is long dead by the time the story starts.
  • Yandere: Her reaction to learning Orgis was siring children by another woman, Medina, who came "from the land of the spirits" was to murder her and try to exterminate all her children.

     Atlanacha
The patron deity of the Arachne. She has a major hate-boner against Rena, both for the latter's inherent beauty, and because Rena herself has wronged her, supposedly.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: She winds up being captured and tied up by her own threads.
  • The Mole: Disguising herself as a human, she infiltrated Tesehen and spied for the Nargol faction.
  • Noodle Incident: What, just what grievance does she have with Rena? Whatever it is, neither she nor Rena are willing to discuss it.In Rena’s case, she doesn’t even bother remembering it.
    • In Volume 6 it is implied that her husband Girtal left to chase after Rena.
  • The Resenter: She resents Rena's vastly superior beauty.
  • Spider People: While her top half is a very attractive woman, her bottom half is the body of a spider, in her true form. She uses shape-shifting magic to appear human, enough to flawlessly the heroes party.

     Labrys
The evil god at the bottom of the Tesehen labyrinth, and patron deity of the minotaurs.
  • All Take and No Give: He takes Zarxis for granted.Good thing Zarxis saves him because Zarxis now considers him as a useless pawn.
  • Bad Boss: He torches one of his most faithful minotaurs to ash, right in front of Chiyuki, because the minotaur Zune was reluctant to fight her, as she's the first being ever to treat him kindly, seeing as his fellow minotaurs loved to smack him around.
  • Dirty Coward: He refuses to come out of the bottom level of the labyrinth because he's a complete coward who can only fight because the labyrinth's boosts make him almost invincible.
  • Entitled to Have You: To Rena. He announces to everyone, far and wide, that the two of them are already married, Rena just hasn't realized it yet.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Even the fellow gods of evil in service or favor of reviving Nargol, who want to end the world, can't stand him.
  • Hero Killer: People who oppose him die.
  • It's All About Me: The only well-being he cares about is his own self.
  • I Have Your Wife: Gender-Invereted. Wants Rena to be his in exchange for Reiji and his party.
  • Meaningful Name: His name is similar to the terminology of Labyrinth. Guess what he is introduced in.
  • Multi-Armed and Dangerous: He has four arms, two of which are used to wield a massive double-bladed axe, and multiple tomahawks.
  • Offing the Offspring: Has killed tons of his descendants and was willing to abandon Euria for going against him.
  • Our Minotaurs Are Different: He has the head of a bull.
  • Playing with Fire: His trump card is a literal sea of flames that can not be extinguished until they've consumed everything nearby, only he is immune. He does not hesitate to use this even when he's got allies near him. Fortunately, these flames can be consumed by Kuroki's own dark flames that he learned from Rugaas early in the story.
  • Rape Is a Special Kind of Evil: He routinely kidnaps attractive women of all races, rapes them pregnant, and then kills them off when he's done.
  • Villainous Breakdown: When Kuroki shows up, rescuing the Hero Party (though Kuroki was only there to rescue Nut), he completely blows his stack, repeatedly shouting in horror about Reiji and Kuroki fighting on the same side.

     Diadona
The patron deity of the Lamia race.Daughter of Nargol.
  • Deadly Gaze: Her gaze can turn people into statues made of gemstone.
  • Greater-Scope Villain:Kuroki felt chills when facing her,and she is a leader figure in the Apophis Faction.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: She's firmly in the faction of Nargol, Modes' and her mother, and is intent on carrying out the woman's will to annihilate all the "people" races, and snuff out the sun.
  • Snake People: Lower half of her body is a snake.
  • Villainous Rescue: As Labrys had been yanked out of the labyrinth by Kuroki's plan, facing off the Hero Party, Kuroki, and all of Rena's war angels, with Rena herself leading the charge, Diadona swoops in on her flying mount, fires off her Deadly Gaze, petrifying many angels, and then grabs him, to carry him off to safety. This proves to the Hero party that there's a third faction hostile to Elios and Modes.

    Zarxis
The God of Death.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: Is this to the story. But he can't beat Kuroki no matter what he does.
  • Ineffectual Death Threats: His threats are harmless against Kuroki
    • Averted with the heroes party. They are completely ineffective towards his powers. Rena even notes Reiji can't put a scratch on Zarxis.
  • Shinigami: A Death God and the incarnation of one in the setting.

Kingdom of Nargol

     Rugaas Satynakia
Prime Minister Of Nargol.
He is in a way, Modes's older brother. And seeks knowledge.

     Ranfeld
Captain of The Dark Knights.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Humiliated by Kuroki at the start of the story.
    • Humiliated by Reiji shortly before the story begins.
  • Doting Father: To his two children.
  • The Dreaded: He was this, before Kuroki came along.
  • Dragon Rider: Rides a Thunder Dragon.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Is strict but kind to his subordinates and will never take them for granted. He decides to even cast aside his pride for Kuroki to train him in Volume 5
  • Shock and Awe: He rides a Thunder Dragon and has a Thunderclap Sword to go along with it.
  • The Rival: To Atar, submaster of the Holy Knight order.
  • Trial by Combat: Suddenly demanding a duel with Kuroki allows Kuroki to absorb the Black Flames and shows how outclassed he is to Modes.

     Datie
The goblin queen.
  • Abhorrent Admirer: To men everywhere. She's not only abhorrent in apperance, being absolutely bloated and disfigured, but she's downright creepy, constantly drooling and rubbing her hands in anticipation of nabbing a guy, drugging him with powerful magical aphrodisiacs, and then raping him to get herself pregnant. Goz was sired this way.
  • Everybody Has Standards: Yes, she somehow manages to get drawings of men far and wide, nude, and anatomically correct, without consent, which she places in a Stalker Shrine, and she dreams of having them dragged to her "love nest," but when she learns Goz broke into her vault to steal and then unleash an eldritch horror Modes entrusted to her to keep sealed away, she retaliates with extreme force, captures him, and then subjects him to a Fate Worse than Death.
  • Evil Virtues: Loyalty. She is very, very loyal to Modes and the rest of the nation of Nargol. In everything else, she is highly repulsive.
  • Stalker Shrine: In her vault is a secret chamber full of nude sketches of men taken without the knowledge or consent of the men involved.

Rox Kingdom

    Rembah
A knight of Rox Kingdom. The former fiance of the princess, he left after Reiji steals her away too.

    Gallios
A kind Yarven man who is Kuroki's friend and considers Kuroki his benefactor after Kuroki saves him.

Algore Kingdom

     Regena (former)
Formerly the crown princess of the Elective Monarchy. The resentment towards her clan came about because her father "won" the election consecutively, staying in charge far more than the allotted 10 years. When Reiji and crew came to her nation, Reiji killed off the Royal Knights in a bar brawl, later revealed to have been instigated by the goblin Goz, disguised as Parish, a genuine war-hero. This leads to her entire clan being exiled and chased off into a goblin's nest to die, or worse. Kuroki comes across her group, annoyed that humans are encroaching on Nargol territory, until he hears her story and rescues them. The entire clan, now composed of only women and children (the men having died to repeated goblin attacks) all happily swear allegiance to Kuroki as his "slaves." Regena herself becomes his familiar after Kuna's "prank" goes wrong.
  • Cannot Keep a Secret: Because she constantly gushed over Kuroki, she revealed a great deal of information to the Hero Party, specifically Shirone, Kyouka, Chiyuki, and Kaya, that she wasn't keen on revealing.
  • Emergency Transformation: By turning her into a familiar, Kuroki changed her species from human to dragonewt. She hides her horns, scales, and claws so she still appears human.
  • The Exile: She is first introduced in the story in a goblin's nest because she and her clan were exiled from Algore thanks to the actions of the Hero Party, especially Reiji.
  • Fallen Princess: She went from being the crown princess of Algore to being Kuroki's familiar.
  • Meido: After being exiled, but before becoming a familiar, she served as Kuroki's maid. Even as a familiar, she still serves as his maid.
  • Not Afraid of You Anymore: Seeing Orimis hold off Goz and grasping the sword Kuroki, her master, provided her, she decided she wasn't going to be cowed by the repulsive half-goblin any further and retaliated, beating him so badly, he had no choice but to run for his life.
  • Rescue Romance: Even before Kuroki turned her into his familiar, she was very devoted to him thanks to the fact that he rescued her and her people from certain death, or worse, in a random goblin den, that her home country threw her into, and made certain that they had food and shelter, gainfully employed at a Nargol border fortress.
  • Sins of Our Fathers: Her home country of Algore hates her and her clan for the actions of her father, something she couldn't possibly control or even influence.

     Parish/Goz
Regena first met him as a child when she and Orimis were set upon by goblins. He pushed Orimis aside as if he was a helpless, newborn babe and licked her, claiming her as his future bride, damn her consent. In the intervening decade, he infiltrated the capital by disguising himself with illusion magic and dubbed himself "Parish," earning the trust of the people with countless genuine feats. He exploits the arrival of Reiji's party to oust Regena's clan from power so he can seize her in the chaos, but Kuroki gets to her first.
  • Abhorrent Admirer: Though he pings as human, he also has a goblin's face. As such, Regena finds him utterly repulsive, even without taking his despicable obsession with her into account.
  • Agent Provocateur: He's directly responsible for instigating the bar-brawl that led to Reiji and the Hero party launching a civil war in Algore.
  • Engineered Heroics: Atempted but averted. He engineered a civil war so Regena would be exiled into a goblin den, intending to swoop in and "rescue" her, forcing her to service him in exchange. Kuroki got to her first.
  • Entitled to Have You: To Regena. He one-sidedly proclaimed her his wife when she was a child, and refuses to brook otherwise.
  • Fate Worse than Death: When his mother Dietan catches up to him, after he steals and unleashes an eldritch horror she was trying to keep secured, she figured death was too good for him, so subjected him to a fate where he wants to die, and is denied.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: His charm is seen through immediately by the heroes,Kuroki and Kuna.
    • The heroes don't put two and two together
    • Kuroki and Kuna does immediately.
    • Shirone is too stupid to realise it's Goz when she meets him again.
  • The Mole: He infiltrated the country of Algore by disguising himself using illusion magic and then performing countless genuine acts of heroism.
    • Repeats it as taking Torx's place in Volume 6. He fools Shirone but Regena No Sells it.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: When Kuroki destroys the Ancient Giant and Regena herself beats him in combat, thanks to Omiros shielding her with the shield Kuroki gave him, he flees Algore and starts scheming to find human sex slaves elsewhere. Unfortunately for him, his mother and her army caught up to him, and sentenced him to a Fate Worse than Death.
  • This Cannot Be!: When Kuroki destroys the Ancient Giant eldritch horror he unleashed in a single blow.
  • Too Dumbtolive: Angering Kuroki, and going against anyone even slightly above him makes one wonder how he has lived this long.

     Omiros
Introduced as Regena's Childhood Friend. He's held a torch for her since both of them were children, but his one-sided romance was doomed to never bear fruit.
  • All Love Is Unrequited: At their closest, Regena only saw him as a friend. She never returned his affections.
  • Dramatic Irony: He leads several very dangerous forays into goblin territory to try and rescue Regena, not knowing that Kuroki on his dragon Glorious got to her first, with Kuroki also trying to find a way to return the refugees to human territory, not aware of Omiros's efforts.
  • Hopeless Suitor: Ever since they were children, he's tried to win Regena's heart. Circumstances and conspiracies made certain that was never going to happen.
  • Kissing Cousins: Married Rillete and became Crown Prince
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: Literally. Thanks to a "travelling minstrel" giving him a magic shield, he was able to ward off Goz's attacks and magic until Regena pulled herself together and showed Goz just how much she clearly did not like his so-called affection.
  • Token Good Teammate: Of his entire clan, he's the only one that didn't condemn Regena or try to stone her on sight. In fact, he led numerous missions into the goblin's nest were she was sent trying to rescue her, not knowing that Kuroki had already done so.

Yarven Heroes

     Hero of Fire Novis
One of the local "heroes" found near the labyrinth. He is introduced getting into conflict with the Earth Hero over a misunderstanding, ie, he presumes the guy is sexually harrassing a girl, until the "girl" turns out to be one of Rena's heroes, Kyouka, who accidentally blasts them both thanks to her Power Incontinence.
  • Bare-Handed Blade Block: On the wrong end. He nearly destroys Kuroki's negotiations with the lizard men by storming the labyrinth, and refuses to back off when Kuroki gives him the chance, so when he and his group go berserk and try to hack at "Dark Knight Diethard" Kuroki pays him back for punching him in the face, with interest, humiliating him by blocking all his sword strikes with his index finger and then calling his sword-style a total mess.
    • In the rewritten version he reeks of desperation and can't gauge the distance between him and Kuroki, or any of the other Divine Races. He is humiliated publicly by Kuroki in a ship fight and continues to challenge Kuroki in his Dark Knight form, being embarrassed further alongside his fellow "heroes".
  • The Berserker: As a Thores worshipper he is this.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: He desperately tried to get sword-fighting lessons from someone near Reiji's level so he'd have a chance of beating the guy and impressing one (or more) of "the Hero of Light's wives". He gets such a "lesson" when he runs head-first into Dark Knight Diethard, who proceeds to parry all his strikes with his index finger.
  • Insane Troll Logic: When he sees a guy being Shirone's porter, he immediately assumes that the best way to gain Shirone's favor is to beat up the "parasite looking to get into her skirt" and is gobsmacked that she draws a sword and tries to cut him to pieces. thankfully Averted Trope in the rewrite and replaced with his humiliation.
  • Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: He is humiliated by the heroes party and any other Divine Race. He is only strong amongst Yarven humans.
  • Playing with Fire: He's called the "Hero of Fire" because he specializes in powerful fire magic.
  • Psychological Projection: Since he's a skirt chaser who was trying to get into Shirone's pants, he presumed her "porter" was of the same mindset and gave himself flimsy excuses to justify removing the competition with violence. Shrione did not appreciate his intent and came at him with a sword instead.
  • Shameless Self-Promoter: Desperate towards Shirone.
  • Suicidal Overconfidence: Justified. He leads a team of all the elemental heroes to deal with the nest of lizard-men in the labyrinth, per the adventurer guild's genuine request. Unfortunately, he runs smack into the "Dark Knight" and then has his entire team attack the dark knight 6 to 1. He does manage to escape total disaster with a clever smoke-screen using the Earth hero's attack, but accidentally harms one of his party members in the process.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Constantly harassing Shirone wasn't enough, in the original Narou version trying to harm Kuroki and the rewrite trying to fight an iron-masked Kuroki and getting humiliated. He completely only wishes to rush into danger and doesn't take mercy when it's been handed to him. Kuroki dismissed him and he is constantly spared his fate of Death.

     Hero of Earth Gordan
A friend of Novis, he keeps order in the freedom fighter association.
  • Adaptation Personality Change: in the original version he started as an overconfident and arrogant thug who had a posse that harassed women regardless of consent and picked a fight with Novis and the heroes party. In the rewritten version he is a peacekeeper who is friends with Novis and got dragged into a conflict and beaten by Shirone.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: He humiliates himself against the heroes party and is dismissed by Kuroki as a Dark Knight fast enough.
  • Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: He is nothing compared to the Divine Race and isn't comparable to the Heroes party.

     Hero Of Wind Zepha
A local human hero who is introduced being defeated by a Centaur.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Loses to a Centuar and Dismissed by Kuroki.
  • Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: Normally he would be strong amongst Yarven people but he is completely outclassed by fiends stronger than him or by the Divine Race.
  • Offscreen Breakup: He loses the attention of his women once he lost to a Centaur. Even the pregnant one left him. Keyna lampshades it by laughing in his face.
  • Sniper Duel: Loses badly to a Centaur.

     Hero of Water Nephim
A local water hero who is introduced falling to a merman warrior.
  • All Love Is Unrequited: To Regena. Kuroki got there first.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: He lost to a merman and Kuroki easily dismisses him and the other heroes.
  • Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: He is strong among the Triton race but is completely outclassed by normal monsters and even further by the Divine Race.
  • Offscreen Breakup: The women he impregnated left him after they realised he lost to a Merman and wasn't able to save them.
