Zombified
Vollständig
"The whole point of fighting is that you don't want to die! That you'll be killed if you lose! If you throw your life away in battle, where's the point in winning?!"
Species: Quincy
Weapon: Unnamed sword
Vollständig: Zufiel
Schrift: E - The Explode
Voiced by: Ayana Taketatsu (JP), Anne Yatco (EN)

Sternritter "E" of "The Explode". A bloodthirsty and sadistic young woman, she enjoys racking up a large body count during a fight. When in a bad mood, she vents her frustrations via killing attractive mooks, much to the irritation of her compatriots. When she was in possession of a stolen Bankai, she wasn't able to sense anything from it, so she assumes that all Zanpakuto lack sentience as a result.

Her Quincy cross manifests as a short scimitar that resembles a Chinese dao and a Zulfiqar. She can make deadly explosions with her power and her Vollständig form enables her to shoot glowing spheres turning anything they hit into a bomb, whilst donning wings and a pentacle-shaped halo.

  • Adaptation Dye-Job: The digital colored scans give her violet eyes and black hair with purple shades, while the cover of chapter 640 portrays her instead with brown eyes and dark brown hair. The TYBW anime and Bleach: Brave Souls depicts her with the former color palette, but the color of her Vollständig in Bleach Brave Souls is changed from the typical light blue to a more salmon color, while the TYBW anime opts to portray it as bright red.
  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: After Bambietta gets defeated by Komamura's new Bankai, Giselle offers to help but Bambietta begs her not to. Giselle follows through with it anyway, murdering her and keeping her corpse around for future use. She later begs Giselle not to take too much of her blood when Giselle bites Bambietta to drain as much blood as possible. And a third time when her PTSD kicks in, she becomes unable to do anything and begs Liltotto and Giselle to save her. Luckily for her they proceed to do just that.
  • Alliterative Name: Both of her names begin with the same "Ba" sound.
  • All There in the Manual:
    • Bambietta was last seen lying on the ground after Giselle bashed her head against the floor with no confirmation whether that killed her or not. Promotional advertisement for the Bleach novel Bleach: Cannot Fear Your Own World reveals that she is indeed alive... in a manner of speaking. It also further elaborates on the specifics of her zombification, motivations and relationship with Giselle.
    • Her Vollständig's name was revealed in anime design notes.
  • Amazing Technicolor Population: As a Zombie, she has dark-gray skin to showcase her newfound undead nature.
  • Ambiguously Bi: Bambietta has the tendency to bring good-looking men with the promise of sex into her bedroom, whenever she is frustrated or upset, only to kill them afterwards. It is left ambiguous whether or not something actually happens inbetween, though Bambietta has a noteable bored and dispassionate expression on her face. She is on the other hand much more enthusiastic in her interactions with Giselle and has some rather suggestive scenes with her post-zombification. Giselle biting her flesh and sucking her blood causes Bambietta to moan and drool. While it is initially believed that this was all caused by the zombification, Giselle later claims that those zombified after death, like Bambietta was, are not controlled by her and keep their personality and will. The novels confirm that Bambietta is in complete control of her actions.
  • Angst Nuke: She flies into a rage and creates a massive explosion when she discovers that her friends ran off somewhere and left her talking to herself.
  • Ax-Crazy: She's rather infamous (both out and in-universe) for her strong inclination towards violence and brutality, even when outside a fight. This manifests most especially in how she slices a guy in half (albeit with a blank, dispassionate face) without remorse as a way to vent frustration.
  • Bad Boss: Like most of the Sternritter, Bambietta is not a person one would like to work for. She's notorious among her fell female Sternritters for her habit of seducing handsome young soldiers into her bed chambers for "special relief" only to slice them in half to allevate her mood.
  • Beneath the Mask: Bambietta presents herself as a strong, confident, aggressive, sadistic and dominant woman and goes to great lengths to preserve that aura. Until her death that works just fine. Once Giselle kills Bambietta and resurrects her as a zombie, that mask breaks immediately and reveals that behind her facade lies a meek and scarred little girl afraid of the world and the prospect of dying. She is also rather submissive and masochistic.
  • Black Widow: She lures attractive men to her room with the promise of a sexual encounter and it always ends with their violent deaths, but it's unknown if she ever actually lets them get that far before killing them.
  • Blatant Lies: She tries to trick Haschwalth into believing that an Otoshidama is the tradition for the employer to give their employee money, instead of the usual tradition of parents giving money to their children. It doesn't work.
  • Blood Knight: Bambietta is a particularly bloodthirsty and sadistic individiual. When she makes her debut, she gleefully bisects a bunch of unnamed Red Shirts during the invasion of the Seireitei, laughing in joy while doing so.
  • The Baroness: She is initially presented as this with her Nazi and BDSM style clothing, her great sadism, bossy and domineering attitude and tendency to use her beauty to invite good locking men into her bedroom only to kill them afterwards, when she is in a bad mood. But as her Hidden Depths as a zombie reveal, Bambietta is much more masochistic, submissive and apologetic than it initially seems.
  • Butt-Monkey: Almost nothing ever goes right for her. After a humiliating defeat against Komamura, Bambietta's (un-)life is pretty much a downward spiral. She has to endure constant abuse under Giselle's hands. As an immortal zombie Bambietta gets injured and tossed around alot, either thanks to Giselle or her enemies. In an omake, she asks Haschwalth for some New Years money, but instead receives one of his boring and long lectures.
  • Can't Live Without You: As a zombie Bambietta's life is linked to Giselle's. If Giselle dies, she herself will die. But this also means that Bambietta cannot truly die as long as Giselle isn't dead. Thankfully for her, Giselle is nigh impossible to kill.
  • Clothing Damage: When Mayuri used her own bombs against her, Bambietta gets her uniform burnt and the cloth over the top of her boobs was destroyed, revealing most of her cleavage.
  • Consuming Passion: Her desire to eat blood and getting eaten by Giselle is played for all its sexual worth.
  • Combat Sadomasochist: Bambietta greatly enjoys bisecting others and uses this in order to destress. It is later revealed that Bambietta also enjoys receiving pain. Giselle performing Cold-Blooded Torture on her as a zombie causes her to drool and moan in excitement. Her only concern was the loss of blood, but not the pain Giselle inflicts.
  • Commissar Cap: She wears a white and black peaked cap with the his Wandenreich insignia emblazoned on its front, which gives off some serious BDSM undertones due to her generally domineering personality.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle:
    • Once she goes Vollstandig, she easily defeats Shinji with her The Explode, as the sheer range from the Schrift easily counters Sakanade’s effect.
    • In return, she’s dispatched by Komamura in their rematch thanks to his Jinka technique making him immortal, with Bambietta being unable to harm him in any meaningful way before she's soundly defeated by Dangai Joue.
  • Curb Stomp Cushion: While she is unable to defeat Komamura in his immortal state, her attacks are still capable of damaging his Bankai far worse than Tosen had with his hollowfication, meaning that Komamura would have lost against her without his humanification technique.
    • With Bleach Ex now showing what her Sklaverei Vollstandig would have looked like, Bambietta didn't even have the chance to use her full power against Komamura.
  • Cute and Psycho: Bambietta looks the part of an attractive, almost unassuming young adult, but plays the part of a deranged Blood Knight who has no qualms about killing people, even those she just had a tryst with (as an unfortunate Soldat grunt can attest to).
  • Dark Action Girl: She's a violent and brutal fighter, laughing in joy as she slaughters Soul Reapers and killing others when she's frustrated. Turns out that Bambietta was intentionally invoking this trope and that her true personality is much more meek and submissive.
  • Deadpan Snarker: When she sees that Komamura has a new set of armor, she snarks about his new getup and says that it would've been more "breathtaking" for him to have shown up after she destroyed some of the Seireitei instead of before.
Bambietta: Why are you wearing a bucket?
  • Deliberate Values Dissonance: She's pretty disturbed at how little Komamura seems to care about his own life, an old-school Samurai code of honor. Bambietta, being more western, believes that people fight to keep themselves alive; not caring about your life while you fight is something she feels makes the fight meaningless.
  • Dirty Coward: Bambietta is insufferably smug and sadistic in battle, but the moment she realizes she can't do a thing to hurt Komamura or his transformed Bankai the second time around, she panics and tries to flee for her life - the keyword being "tries".
  • Dull Surprise: She displays very little emotion or surprise when the stolen Bankai get returned; nonchalantly blowing up the heads of a bunch of red shirts. She goes on to explain that she never liked having a Bankai to begin with, as she felt it was more trouble than it was worth. Even when Komamura shows up in front of her after getting a new set of armor, she barely reacts at all, instead preferring to snark at him.
  • Establishing Character Moment: The very first thing she does on-panel is to carve her way through a bunch of low-ranked Soul Reapers, laughing all the way. She turns out to be the kind of character that needs to kill people to de-stress.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: When she realizes that Sajin gave up his life to gain the ability to No-Sell her powers, she utterly freaks out and tries to hightail it from him, because she can't wrap her head around someone sacrificing themselves for the sake of others.
  • Explaining Your Power to the Enemy: She explains the principle of how her explosions work with a certain measure of pride, partially because she was impressed that Komamura was able to figure it out beforehand.
  • Extreme Doormat: After her fight with Komamura concludes, Giselle turns her into a zombie, but it isn't until later that we learn Bambietta was reprogrammed into a submissive mess, literally salivating and begging for Giselle to give her something, apologizing when she gets physically abused by her new master, and begging Giselle to not be punished for making her "upset". It is later revealed that Bambietta is not brainwashed and the submissive personality is in fact her actual personality.
  • Fan Disservice: For as beautiful and busty as Bambietta is, she gets exploited a lot in her brief appearances. When she's defeated by Komamura and her bombs get shoved back into her body to explode, it destroys most of her top. Already a humiliating defeat, one of her boobs was completely exposed, with her nipple only being covered by a speech bubble. She then gets soundly defeated by Mayuri using her own power against her, which leaves most of her boobs exposed again while she needs Giselle to get her back in fighting shape. Then a lot of her chest gets shown off while Giselle drinks her blood, and after she has her head brutally bashed into a rock, there's a near upskirt that avoids showing her panties due to some convenient censoring.
  • Fate Worse than Death: In-Universe, Bambietta sees being turned into Giselle's zombie as something worse than dying. This trope is subverted once she is made one anyway; she is afraid of dying that she seems to accept her zombie state if it means surviving.
  • Feather Flechettes: While not true feathers, she fires orbs of explosive Reishi from her Vollständig's wings in this fashion.
  • Forgot About His Powers: The fear of death is so integrated into Bambietta's mindset that she forgets that as a zombie she can't die again, begging Giselle not to kill her despite Giselle reminding her she won't.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: She's in a clique with four other Sternritter women. Bambietta fashions herself as the leader of the group, yet they chastise her for killing subordinates to blow off steam, ditch her at the first opportunity during the second invasion while complaining about how she has a screw loose, and none of them lift a finger to stop Giselle from killing and zombifying her. The only one who does like her though is Giselle, but as Giselle has proved many times, she is not someone you would want to be liked by.
  • Having a Blast: The Schrift she has been bestowed with is 'The Explode'. It gives her the power to create bombs. The way they work is that she sends out orbs of Reishi. Anything the Reishi comes into contact with is converted into a bomb. It's because of this that her attacks can not be blocked. It also makes her attacks omni-directional. In her Vollstandig, her explosive ability is amplified.
  • Hidden Buxom: Her uniform hides the fact she has an ample amount of cleavage, although her personality subverts the usual timidness associated with this trope.
  • Hidden Depths: Bambietta at first seems just like another bossy, arrogant and sadistic Blood Knight. But she displays some surprisingly deep views and thoughts on occasion. To start with she finds the idea of Heroic Sacrifice absurd, as winning means nothing if you unable to enjoy it. Later on, with the reveal that those zombified after death are not controlled by Giselle, it turns out that all her contrasting behavior as a zombie is part of her own personality; showing her as someone emotionally unstable, quite submissive, and deeply afraid of dying. She is also quite interested in the politics and future of the Wandenreich.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: She's as vulnerable to her own bombs as everyone else is. Dangai Joue defeated her by forcing the bombs to explode inside her and Mayuri delays the detonation until she's in the middle of them, forcing Giselle to use her as a Human Shield.
  • Hot-Blooded: Similar to Rukia, Bambietta prefers to be calm and detached, and puts on an air of confidence and poise, but she's prone to really rash action once you get under her skin even a little bit.
  • Horror Hunger: Following her zombification Bambietta develops an uncontrollable lust for blood that often controls her actions and decisions.
  • Hulk Speak: Following her injuries in the war and Giselle incompletely healing her, Bambietta suffers a bit from brain damage and as a result has problems speaking in complete sentences.
  • Humiliation Conga: Her bombs are rendered completely ineffective on Komamura thanks to Dangai Joue; she becomes a mass of charred flesh once her bombs explode inside of her; she's reduced to a begging mess when she sees her comrades approach; and finally, she's reanimated into an undead corpse, completely at the service of and slavishly loyal to Giselle. She even gets her head slammed onto a rock repeatedly after pleading with Giselle not to take so much blood from her, which ends up splitting her head open, but as Giselle stated beforehand, she's already dead, so even this doesn't "kill" her, only tormenting her further.
  • The Id: She is the most emotional of the three remaining female Sternritter and is solely interested in getting Giselle's blood post-zombification.
  • In-Series Nickname: Like the other female Sternritter, Bambietta also has one with Bambi. Though only Giselle calls her that. The other female Sternritter just call her Bambietta or tend to insult her. While with Giselle it can, depending on the situation, be an Affectionate Nickname, a Term Of Endangerment or both.
  • Interplay of Sex and Violence: Bambietta has a violent, passionate personality. Her method of "de-stressing" is to choose a handsome, male subordinate and encourage him to expect a sexual encounter. Whether sex actually occurs is ambiguous, but the encounter always ends with her slicing him to pieces. Her female friends are irritated by the frequency with which she does this, and the mess it causes. This later continues after her death and reanimation as a zombie by the hands of Giselle, with the difference that she is now on the receiving end of the violence.
  • Irony:
    • Bambietta is afraid of dying, yet in her final moments as a living person, she begs Giselle not to make her a zombie, despite it "saving" her in Giselle's own twisted way.
    • Bambietta was disturbed at the idea of throwing your life away before you fight, since she feels you fight to live. After her zombification by Giselle, Bambietta is no longer "alive," but unlike Komamura, she's being forced to fight and did not willingly choose to discard her life.
    • Even though Bambietta gets killed very early on by Giselle, that very act and the following zombification allowed her to be one of the few Sternritter who survived the war. Thanks to becoming a zombie, Bambietta was able to avoid the multiple Auswählen and executions Yhwach performed, the constant infighting and backstabbing between the Sternritter or getting killed by a Shinigami, while many other of her comrades were not so lucky. And all of that because she was the Sternritter who died in the second invasion first.
    • Despite being claiming to be the leader of the female Stern Ritters she holds no authority over them whatsoever.
  • I Shall Taunt You: Her battles are highlighted by her snarky (and at times oddly funny) taunting of her opponents. Bambi develops a mini obsession with Sajin Komamura because she just finds it so fun to mock him for being a wolfman, calling him "Doggie" everytime she sees him.
  • The Leader: She attempts to invoke this, but it's ultimately averted. She acts like the leader of the five female Sternritter, but they clearly don't agree. Lilotto calls her a bitch, Candice chews her out for hogging the hunks to herself, Giselle doesn't think she's very sane, and they all decided to troll her by ditching her while she talked to herself. Although Candice and Giselle seem to respect her strength, even they treat her as no more than an equal.
  • Mad Bomber: The special power granted by her Schrift is to convert anything that comes in contact with her Reishi into a bomb. To fit with her volatile abilities, Bambietta has an equally volatile personality, causing buildings to explode whenever she gets upset.
  • Morality Pet: She serves as an inverted example for Giselle. Giselle, while an antagonist, is genuinely close to the other female Sternritter and several times worried about their well-being. It thus at first seems like that Giselle is a nice, if snarky person to her female comrades. It's only through her interactions with Bambietta, that the depths of Giselle's insanity and sadism become clear. Though Giselle interestingly considers Bambietta the person she loves, so this is played straight from her own twisted perspective.
  • Mortality Phobia: Bambietta is deeply afraid of dying. She states to Komamura that she participates in the war in order to ensure her own survival. Despite being afraid of Giselle turning her into a zombie and outright begging her not to, once Giselle does so anyway, Bambietta is so afraid at the prospect of dying again, that she prefers being abused by Giselle as a zombie and begs Giselle to let her stay with her if it means staying alive in some way. When she’s fighting Rudbornn’s Calaveras in the novels, their complete lack of concern about charging straight into her explosions unnerves her so much that it reawakens memories of Komamura and leaves her screaming in terror for her friends to save her from dying.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She has calf-high boots, black stockings and a micro skirt. She later removes her stockings (which reveal her long legs), unzips her shirt (showing off a rather large set of boobs), and adjusts her skirt (which shows more of her thigh in particular).
  • Multi-Directional Barrage: In response to Shinji screwing with her senses, she just starts pitching explosions in every direction.
  • The Nicknamer: She has nicknames for friend and foe alike. Komamura was given the nickname "Doggie" the moment they first met, while her four friends are called Lili (Liltotto), Gigi (Giselle), Meny (Meninas), and Candy (Candice).
  • Not Brainwashed: In the light novels, it turns out that Bambietta's slavish loyalty and absolute submissiveness towards Giselle post-zombification aren't the result of Giselle reprogramming her, but her actual personality behind the boisterous hot-tempered mask she wears.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • She thought she had defeated the Seventh Division. Komamura rallies himself, his lieutenant, and all his subordinates with a single speech. She's stunned.
    • Has a larger one when Shinji uses his Shikai to invert her senses. Subverted in that she quickly recovers her composure and just starts shooting explosions in every direction, which eventually hits him.
    • She gets several in Chapters 557 and 558, first when she sees Komamura's Bankai without the armor, then when she sees that it isn't affected by her bombs when she sees that he's totally fine with a hole in his chest, and (in the beginning of Chapter 558) when she realizes that her bombs are coming back into her.
    • Her final, and most visceral one, occurs when she begs Giselle to stop after the latter offers to "help" her. Sadly, this leads to her death and then the use of her corpse due to Giselle's ability.
    • She has another more comedic one in the New Year's omake, once she realizes that she is about to get another of Haschwalth's very long lectures.
  • Our Zombies Are Different: After her defeat against Komamura, Giselle murders her and raises her as a zombie, though she doesn't show up until Giselle summons her against Ikkaku and Yumichika. Despite being dead, she retains her ability to use The Explode, can still activate Vollständig, and retains the ability to talk and feel. She's extremely tough to kill, too, as a stab through the neck does nothing and losing limbs is an inconvenience. The best that can be done to stop her is by shooting her with a Cero, as Charlotte Chulhourne accomplished, and even then, she still survived. After that, she gets a ton of her blood sucked out by her "master" and has her head busted open by having it be smashed repeatedly against the pavement. She's noticeably limp and blank-faced, but as Giselle herself noted earlier, Bambietta was already dead anyway, so even in this case she didn't die.
  • Out with a Bang: Implied to have inflicted this on at least one mook. She calls a random guy up to her room when she's in a foul mood, makes it clear she wants sex with him, and when she kills him, they're both in a state of undress. What exactly happened in between is left to the imagination.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: Taken literally via The Explode. When she feeds her Reishi into an object, the object itself becomes a bomb. She's also one of the more powerful of the Sternritters, being able to fight several Soul Reapers simultaneously.
  • Psychopathic Womanchild: She's essentially a 14-year-old Genki Girl in a grown woman's body. She frequently refers to Captain Komamura as "doggy" throughout their fights, and throws temper tantrums when things don't go her way or she feels she's being ignored. This is a major reason why the other female Sternritter don't respect her very much.
  • Questionable Consent: While Bambietta clearly didn't agree with being killed and zombified, it is unknown how much of Bambietta's behavior as a zombie is because of Giselle's machinations and how much because of her own personality.
  • Red Is Violent: Red is her signature color and her Vollstandig in the anime is depicted as being of a bright scarlet coloration, which goes handily with her easy to anger, murderous nature.
  • Sinister Scimitar: Her unnamed blade is a curved sword that Bambietta is shown to be quite proficient in using.
  • Security Blanket: Bambietta briefly serves as one for Giselle after the Auswählen. She is the only thing that manages to keep Giselle's already fragile sanity intact, as Giselle lunges into her, chanting that they both won't die.
  • Shell-Shocked Veteran: After the war, it becomes obvious that her experiences there, namely her fight with Komamura, left her with a severe case of PTSD.
  • Significant Birth Date: Her birthday is August 6, the same day the "Little Boy" atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan.
  • Slasher Smile: When she sees Hinamori charging at her, Bambietta's smirk widens into a maniacal grin, accompanied by a crazed look in her eye.
  • Smug Snake: Bambietta is a highly arrogant woman who proclaims herself as the leader of the female Sternritters. She's actually a pretty dangerous fighter, but she has a pretty bad habit of being dismissive of her opponents. Naturally, she's the first of the female Sternritters to fall in battle. Surprisingly, her actual personality is much more humble and apologetic.
  • Sphere of Destruction: When her gal-pals don't immediately show up when she calls them, she flies into a rage and creates a huge radial explosion.
  • Stockholm Syndrome: She seems to have developed this for Giselle post-zombification. Despite the constant abuse she has to suffer under Giselle, who killed her in the first place, Bambietta does not want to leave Giselle and apologizes whenever Giselle hits her.
  • Terms of Endangerment: She mocks Komamura's appearance by referring to him as "inu-chan" and "wan-chan" ("doggie").
  • This Is Unforgivable!: She says this of herself after being the first of the female Sternritters to lose.
  • Tsundere: When she realized that her entourage actually left her behind, she loudly voices her disapproval while carrying a red tint on her cheeks.
  • Unblockable Attack: Her explosions don't come from her Reishi, but whatever the Reishi touches, so attempting to block the Reishi with something will simply result in the shield blowing up in the opponent's face.
  • Underboobs: It's not the most noticeable thing about her Clothing Damage in the manga, but it happens when her clothes are destroyed when she loses to Komamura. Having her explosions forced back into her body either destroyed her bra, or she never wore one to begin with. While she's in a pile of rubble, the reader can see the bottom curve of her left boob completely exposed. The only thing covering the more naughty bits is her speech bubble.
  • Uncertain Doom: She "survived" the war by being a zombie and thus not technically alive and is confirmed to still be with the surviving Bambies after the fact. But whether or not Bambietta is eventually restored to her old self is up in the air.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Out of the female Sternritter, Bambietta is the only one to never display a named move nor use Sklaverai to enhance her Vollstandig. However, her ability is just so destructive and devastating she doesn’t need special attacks to crush her enemies. The sheer power of her explosions make her difficult for anyone to fight, letting her take Shinji easily, but once Komamura shows up with the power to tank her attacks, she has no other means of fighting back, and is taken out in a single hit from his bankai.
  • Villainous Breakdown: As she loses control of her rematch with Komamura and realizes that she's fighting an immortal, very pissed-off veteran warrior whose power is specifically immune to her own and who hates her entire faction for what they've done to the Gotei 13, her mental self-discipline begins to break down as well, manifesting in numerous (and increasingly more visceral) Oh, Crap! moments.
  • Villainous BSoD: While fighting Arrancar, Bambietta remembers her fight with Komamura which greatly accelerates her fear of dying and causes her to shut down, unable to even move.
  • Why Don't Ya Just Shoot Him?: According to Askin, Bambietta told him once that he should simply strangle his enemies once they are down instead of waiting for them to die. Askin didn't like that suggestion.
  • Worf Had the Flu: Bambietta's abilities and applications thereof suffer greatly following her reanimation. While it's implied she still has most, if not all, of her powers, as a zombie she's nowhere near as swift or clever about using them. As Mayuri deduces, killing her and then converting her into a zombie slowed down her reaction time significantly. Notably, she's nearly beaten by Ikkaku and Yumichika working together, and Charlotte manages to toss her around without issue without using Resurreccíon, all three being characters an alive Bambietta would have no issue taking out on her own.

    G - Liltotto Lamperd

Liltotto Lamperd

"Leftover sweets and sprays of blood are two different things, you bitch."
Species: Quincy
Weapon: Unnamed bow
Vollständig: Gagael
Schrift: G - The Glutton
Voiced by: Aoi Yūki (JP), Cherami Leigh (EN)

Sternritter "G" of "The Glutton". A short and skinny young girl with blonde hair. Liltotto is a Sternritter with an insatiable appetite, usually for sweets, but she has no issue with chowing down on people as well. Despite her youthful appearance, she has no qualms about blurting out profanity at her comrades.

She has the power to stretch and expand her mouth to bite through anything; if she eats somebody possessing a peculiar power, she will be able to use it once her unfortunate lunch has been digested. She has a jagged bow that creates a shape reminiscent of a toothy grin. Her Vollständig, named Gagael in the anime, gives her toothy wings and allows her to fire large reishi jaws.

  • Adaptational Seriousness: In the manga, Liltotto is initially cheerful and always smiling, her deadpan personality only established after facing Ichigo. In the anime, she is stoic and serious from the start.
  • All for Nothing: Liltotto, Giselle and Bazz-B form an Enemy Mine with the Shinigami when Yhwach's Auswahlen makes them realize how little he values them. Bazz-B is cut down by Haschwalth, but the latter's consequent actions imply that the fight slightly wavered Haschwalth's allegiance toward their Emperor. The two girls? Defeated off-panel, accomplishing nothing more than briefly disturbing Yhwach's nap. Liltotto can only express frustration at their failure to so much as put a scratch on him before collapsing.
  • All There in the Manual: The Bleach novels explain what happened to Liltotto after her fight with Yhwach and elaborate on her abilities and relationship with the other Sternritter.
  • All Your Powers Combined: Liltotto is able to use the ability of everyone and everything her stomach digested, and can also combine them to create new abilities.
  • Audience Surrogate: Following the end of the war Liltotto exiled herself alongside Giselle and Bambietta, and often voices the same things about the two as the audience thinks.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: She thinks it would be more entertaining if Pepe joined the fight, even though Meninas finds him disgusting. Once Pepe does get involved, he brainwashes Meninas into sucker-punching Liltotto.
  • Big Eater: Liltotto is usually seen munching on sweets and Bambietta implies she can't remotely get enough of them. When it's suggested she would be given anything she wishes for if she beats Ichigo, her thoughts are of food. Her power takes this to another level as she begins chowing down on every opponent she finds.
  • Cannibalism Superpower: Her Schrift allows her to use the ability of anything her stomach digests.
  • Characterization Marches On: She's introduced with an incredibly cheerful expression (albeit with some profanities) that doesn't quite mesh with the Deadpan Snarker seen later on.
  • Charm Person: Thanks to eating Pepe, Liltotto can use the Love and make everyone she hits fall in love with her. However, she finds this power disgusting and refuses to use it.
  • Combat Pragmatist: She reveals that she and her group attacked Kenpachi specifically because he wore himself out fighting Gremmy. She and Giselle take out the Red Shirts while Candice and Meninas take on Zaraki. When Ichigo shows up, she tries to tag-team him with the other three, but eventually leaves the fighting to Candice. She later tells everybody not to waste time and just use their Vollständig right away.
  • Commissar Cap: She has a white cap with a black peak and the Wandenreich symbol at the center.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Tries to invoke this with the rest of the Sternritter when she notes that any Soul Reaper that is not a "Special War Power" should just be swept aside quickly and activates Vollständig.
  • Dark Action Girl: Of the Sternritter who fought post-Royal Realm Byakuya, only she and Meninas are capable of holding their own against him. She later goes on to defeat a Pepe-controlled Meninas with only minor injuries and kills Pepe herself. She likes to blurt out profanity and demean her enemies after eating them, which is also how she killed Pepe.
  • Deadpan Snarker: She doesn't think much of Ichigo's Dynamic Entry, pretty much agreeing with Meninas' suggestion that he botched it. She's also prone to making snarky remarks towards her fellow Bambies.
  • Death Glare: She gives a good one to Pepe after he mind-controlled Meninas into punching her in the face. Then she eats him.
  • Enemy Mine:
    • She and the surviving Sternritter temporarily ally with Soul Society after Yhwach betrays and tries to kill them.
    • In Bleach: Cannot Fear Your Own World she takes Giselle and Bambietta to rescue the Jagdarmee still fighting in Hueco Mundo, and battles Loly, Menoly, Rudbornn, Grimmjow, Nelliel, and Harribel. When Hikone crashes the party, however, she leads the other Quincy in allying with the Arrancar against him — to Giselle's confusion, as they'd just been trying to kill each other.
  • Entertainingly Wrong: When she wakes up in the new Wandenreich HQ, Liltotto believes that Haschwalth wants to interrogate her. While a sound conclusion, she couldn't be more wrong. Both Haschwalth and Yhwach are dead and she was in the HQ because Haschwalth ordered her evacuation.
  • Even Evil Has Standards:
    • She is not a big fan of Bambietta's tendency to kill men whenever she is upset.
    • While she does let Giselle kill Bambietta, and never comments on it when she reunites with Giselle in the cave (just before the Auswahlen occurs), in the light novels, she makes her disgust over Giselle's zombification abilities clear.
  • Hammerspace: Liltotto constantly pulls out a new piece of food to eat throughout the entire war even though her uniform doesn't offer the space to store the food.
  • Heart Beat-Down: She can shoot love beams after she devoured Pepe.
  • Hidden Depths:
    • She actually completely disagrees with the idea of Blind Obedience to a Physical God who has no loyalty to their creations. In her mind, a leader who abandons their followers at the drop of a hat is not a leader worthy of following. Instead, she becomes The Leader of the Sternritter remnants in the novels, doing everything she can to make sure they all survive, even if it means teaming up with Arrancar.
    • The light novels expand more on her mindset. Liltotto actually struggles with expressing her appreciation and genuine care for her comrades, particularly the other female Sternritter, and she only shows her compassion towards Gremmy when nobody else can see her interacting with him (because they never willingly approached him the way she did). She doesn't comment publicly on Giselle's Zombie power, but she is personally disgusted by it, privately criticizes Giselle's treatment of Bambietta, and refuses to let Giselle zombify anybody else, including the Jagdarmee in Hueco Mundo. She even sees Giselle as a friend in spite of herself, something Giselle herself explicitly calls out, something even Liltotto can't deny anymore.
  • Hyperactive Metabolism: Liltotto notes that she isn't at full strength because she hasn't eaten much (relatively speaking) yet.
  • Hypocritical Humor: She chastises Bazz-B for losing against Haschwalth, but then quickly notes the irony as she and Giselle didn't fare much better against Yhwach.
  • Jerkass: She's deliberately rude to everyone she talks to. While she does spare Meninas from death despite being controlled by Pepe and saves Giselle from outright death from Yhwach's Auswählen, she had no problem letting Bambietta die to become Giselle's zombie, even when she was begging for mercy and it was within Liltotto's power to save her by stopping Giselle.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Liltotto may be rude and pragmatic, but she deeply cares for her comrades, be they former or current. She saved the remnants of the Jagdarmee from the Arrancar and Giselle and feels truly indebted to Haschwalth's aide for helping her. Not that she would ever admit that.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: Liltotto's Schrift is 'The Glutton'. She is able to consume and ingest matter . Her mouth can stretch and expand to bite people in half, then swallow them effortlessly. She eats a bunch of Soul Reapers, although she admits they don't taste good. She also devours Pepe, in an act of revenge for his actions against her and Meninas.
  • The Immune: Her stomach is so powerful that she can't be affected by poison. Even the fundamental weakness of Quincy against Hollow Reiatsu is no exception to that. It's implied that if she were at full power, she would not be harmed by Hollow Poisoning at all.
  • Instant Expert: Thanks to The Glutton Liltotto can immediately master every ability she absorbs.
  • I Owe You My Life: Liltotto feels indebted to Haschwalth's aide because she saved her. Her leaving the Wandenreich and saving the remnants of the Jagarmee is partly because she wants to protect her savior from Giselle and express her gratitude.
  • Kid with the Leash: Following the defeat of Yhwach, Liltotto has to keep an eye on Giselle as she is perhaps the only one who prevents her from unleashing a zombie apocalypse.
  • The Leader: In the post-war novels, Liltotto is the most rational and logical thinking Sternritter left, so the survivors basically just follow her lead even if there is Snark-to-Snark Combat.
  • Little Miss Badass: Liltotto is one of the youngest participants in the blood war, but also one of the strongest. Out of the five Sternritter who attacked Byakuya, Liltotto was the only one alongside Meninas not to fall. After Pepe mind controlled Meninas, Liltotto was able to defeat Meninas rather quickly without any visible injuries and managed to keep her alive. Pepe's initial target for defeating the competition was even Liltotto. This is despite her own Schrift being a weak one and rather unsuited for non-lethal attacks. Later, Kubo confirms via Klub Outside, that Liltotto is the strongest "Bambie", at least in regards to having the best fighting skills and Blut expertise out of all female Stern Ritters.
  • Luminescent Blush: When Giselle tells her that Liltotto actually likes her and calls her cute, Liltotto's only response is to remain stoic and blush.
  • Made of Iron: Despite taking a hulked-out punch right to the face from Meninas, who may very well be the physically-strongest Bleach character, Liltotto not only survives but her confrontation with Pepe afterwards shows she was able to subdue her comrade with minimal further injuries.
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: After surviving Yhwach's Auswählen, Liltotto makes the decision to help out the Soul Reapers if it means she can get into close enough proximity to Yhwach to avenge his attempt to abandon and kill her.
  • More Teeth than the Osmond Family: In addition to being able to distort and expand her mouth, when using her powers her teeth transform into shark-like fangs.
  • "No. Just… No" Reaction: When Giselle suggests zombifying Ichigo, Liltotto just tells her to cut it out.
  • Not Quite Dead: Thought she died against Yhwach? Turns out she survived, albeit only thanks to Haschwalth's aide.
  • Not So Stoic: She's calm and collected most of the time, even in tough situations, but Yhwach's betrayal makes her shocked, desperate and furious.
  • Oh, Crap!: Lets this reaction out once she discovers that the Sternritter left behind by Yhwach will end up as food for the Auswählen.
  • Only Friend: Can't Fear Your Own World reveals that Liltotto was this for Gremmy, as she's the only Sternritter who was willing to go out of their way to talk to him without being terrified. She even goes as far as to say that Yhwach imprisoning him is cruel. Gremmy, for his part, seemed to reciprocate this kinship, as he was willing to use his near-godlike power to simply create snacks for her and had no issues engaging her in conversation despite his unstable nature. Needless to say, Liltotto is less than pleased about Tokinada using his remains to create Hikone.
  • Only Sane Man: No matter which group she teams up with, Liltotto has the honor of being the only normal one. Among the female Sternritter, Meninas is The Brute, Candice has a Hair-Trigger Temper, Bambietta is Psychopathic Womanchild, and Giselle is genuinely Ax-Crazy, on top of Giselle and Bambietta having an especially fucked up dynamic in particular. Liltotto later teams up with Bazz-B, who is hell-bent on revenge and Giselle, who is... Giselle. After the war, she teams up with Bambietta, who suffers from PTSD, and Giselle again. Comments from the novels imply that she may be this even to the entire Sternritter army, as she doesn't exhibit Undying Loyalty and actually sees that your leader trying to kill and abandon you, is not something to be okay with.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Yhwach using the Auswählen prompts Liltotto to break her monotone and stoic persona and react with rage and despair.
  • Parasol Parachute: Liltotto's arrival on the battlefield consists of gently floating down via an opened umbrella while eating from a jar of sweets.
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: Kills Pepe, but considering how much of a jackass the man was, it was more than deserved.
  • Pet the Dog:
    • When Yhwach enacts The Purge on the Wandenreich, and she sees beams of light engulfing her fellow Quincies, Liltotto immediately throws her body in the line of fire and physically shoves Giselle into the cave, narrowly avoiding an Auswahlen beam and directly saving Giselle's life.
    • Related to above, when she sees other Quincies dying to the Auswahlen, she's fucking enraged. Yhwach's betrayal is the reason she finally chooses to defect.
    • On a smaller note, she could have chosen to kill Meninas after Pepe brainwashed her, but instead she spares Meninas who then goes on to help a wounded Candice. She claims it was to prevent more losses on their side, but her actions right after (e.g. saving Giselle) show that she just didn't want her comrades to die and her loyalty is to them, not to the empire.
    • In the novels, she completely disagrees with Gremmy's imprisonment, finding it needlessly cruel to jail someone for the possibility of being a danger to others. She takes it upon herself to visit Gremmy, talk to him like normal, treat him like a normal person, willingly becoming Gremmy's Only Friend. Once she learns what happened to Gremmy, she is genuinely upset.
    • The light novels also make clear Liltotto actually does care a great deal over her fellow female Sternritter, including Bambietta, and when Bambietta's PTSD kicks in and she begs for help, Liltotto actually does help, even if she does grumble about it.
  • Picky People Eater: Played With. Liltotto eats people indiscriminately in combat for pragmatic reasons, but it seems that a person's personality greatly affects the taste. Pepe and the nameless Shinigami tasted disgusting. Ruddbon's Calaveras had no taste and parts of Loly's Resureccion tasted "unnecessarily spicy" but still good.
  • Poison Is Corrosive: The poison she produces from digesting Loly's Resurrección is able to melt everything it touches away.
  • Poisonous Person: After digesting parts of Loly's Resurrección, Liltotto gains the ability to produce poison.
  • Poisoned Weapon: She likewise is able to coat her arrows with said poison.
  • Possession Implies Mastery: The Glutton has the secondary ability to allow Liltotto to instinctively understand and master every ability it absorbs.
  • Power Perversion Potential: Defied. Liltotto is disgusted by Pepe's Schrift and does not want to abuse it like he did.
  • Pre-Mortem One-Liner: Gives one to Pepe right before eating him.
"... Dude, you damn well tried to kill us all. At the very least, you gotta... take responsibility, y'know?"
  • Rage Against the Heavens: What she screams to Yhwach after his outright callous treatment of the Sternritters still fighting on his behalf below the Soul Palace. Afterwards, she, Bazz-B, and Gissele ally with the Soul Reapers to take him down.
"What the... What the hell is the meaning of this... Your Majesty... Just what... JUST WHAT WERE WE TO YOU??!!"
  • Rain of Arrows: She is the only Quincy despite Uryu who displayed the ability Licht Regen. In the novels Liltotto combines this ability with the poison she absorbed from Loly to basically create a rain of acid.
  • Regenerating Mana: Everything she devours with her Schrift allows Liltotto to recover Reiryoku.
  • Required Secondary Powers: The ability of The Glutton to use any power Liltotto absorbs would be rather useless, if it doesn't allow the user to understand how it works, which it thankfully does.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: Don't let her young appearance fool you. Liltotto is a potty-mouth.
  • The Stoic: Zig-zagged in the manga, in which she begins as a Perpetual Smiler, only to develop her stoic persona later on. Played straight in the anime, where she is monotone and serious from her introduction. Unlike her quirkier mates, Lilotto displays little emotion, keeping calm even in rougher situations, such as Ichigo turning out to be stronger than reported in the Daten, and when she confronts Pepe after he betrays her and Meninas. The only thing that makes Liltotto react emotionally is Yhwach's betrayal.
  • The Strategist: Apparently serves this position among the female Sternritters. She's the only one who appears to really care for any sort of true strategy, keeps her cool when Candice is losing it, lacks the physical strength of Meninas or Giselle's unique fighting abilities, and overall is the one who appears to prefer fighting in a group rather than separately against stronger enemies.
  • The Super Ego: Of the remaining female Sternritter. She is much more rational than Giselle or Bambietta.
  • Team Killer: She ate Pepe alive for trying to kill her and Meninas.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: When she realizes Meninas has been mind-controlled by Pepe and is powering up to attack her, she responds with a grim "Aw shit..." before being decked across the face.
  • Token Good Teammate: She's one of the very few Sternritter who isn't either a psychopath, amoral, or vicious, only having a foul mouth and a disturbing power. Fittingly, she becomes the nominal leader of the Quincy survivors after the war ends, as she's the most stable, moral, and reasonable of all of them.
  • Tranquil Fury: She's surprisingly calm when she encounters Pepe again, plainly telling him he needs to take responsibility for his actions... all while slowly changing her mouth to its giant fangs in preparation for eating him.
  • Troll: Bambietta accused Liltotto of sneaking the group away from her behind her back just to screw with her.
  • Tsundere: Liltotto claims that Giselle should leave her alone, but actually wants her around. When she saved the remnants of the Jagdarmee in Hueco Mundo, she claimed that it was only so that they would not get in her way, when it was actually gratitude and compassion. Giselle lampshades it both times and calls her out on her true emotions.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: After Bambietta's loss against Komamura, Liltotto and the other female Sternritter gather around her. As Giselle is about to kill Bambietta, Candice and Meninas are quite unnerved about what is about to happen, Liltotto just stares away, with a bored expression, while eating an ice-stick, as if nothing unusual would happen.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: She constantly bickers with the other female Sternritter and insults them, but at the end of the day, they are true companions and Liltotto would do everything to ensure their safety.
  • Villainous Glutton: While she is more of a jerk than evil, she has no problems devouring Shinigami and notes that no matter how much she eats, she is still hungry.
  • Was It All a Lie?: She asks Yhwach what they were to him after he decides to sacrifice the Sternritter left behind in Seireitei for the Auswählen.
  • Whip Sword: One of her Vollständig techniques revealed in the anime is Spife, in which she unfurls one of her teeth-like bracelets to use as a bladed whip.

    P - Meninas McAllon

Meninas McAllon

"You could've at least taken it outside."
Species: Quincy
Weapon: Unnamed bow
Vollständig: Pornipora
Schrift: P - The Power
Voiced by: Reina Ueda (JP), Anne Yatco (EN)

Sternritter "P" of "The Power". Her uniform consists of frilled boots, frilled gloves and frilled skirt, a belt with a heart-shaped buckle, a large bow around her neck, and a white cap with the Wandenreich symbol.

Her abilities consist of super-human feats of strength, such as lifting an entire row of buildings with one hand. She possesses a heart-themed bow. Her Vollständig, named Pornipora in the anime, allows her to weaponize reishi dumbbells.

  • Adaptation Dye-Job: The cover of chapter 581, the digital colored scans and Bleach Brave Souls portrays her with red eyes and magenta hair, while the cover of chapter 640 portrays her with light pink hair and green eyes instead.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: The anime shows her briefly as the Sternritter who almost kills Rukia during the first Quincy invasion, way before her proper debut in the series.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Liltotto and Giselle refer to her as "Minnie" (or "Meni" in the official subs for the anime).
  • Ambiguous Situation: She's never shown getting hit by the Auswahlen in the manga. We last see her under Pepe's control as she punches Liltotto. After she's said to be defeated by Liltotto off screen, Liltotto claims that Meninas should still be alive, but we never see her again. She doesn't appear with Bazz-B, Giselle, and Liltotto who all survived the Auswahlen, so while we can surmise that she may have died to the Auswahlen, it isn't explicitly said so. It takes a light novel written by a different author and released after the manga concluded before we learn that she evidently did die, and we're still never told how. The anime averts it completely by showing her carrying Candice just before they're both hit by the Auswahlen.
  • Apologetic Attacker: In the anime, she apologizes to an unconscious Rukia before departing a demolished Seireitei.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: She gets hit directly by Pepe's ability, who makes her infatuated with him and bound her to his will, even turning on Liltotto, attacking her without second thoughts.
  • The Brute: Among the female Sternritter, she’s the tallest and physically strongest, while not being excessively bright herself and mostly relying on pure strength and physical combat to deal with enemies.
  • Combat Pragmatist: She is not above attacking opponents as they are running away from her, as shown in the anime when she defeats Rukia the moment she tries to run away to Byakuya's aid.
  • Commissar Cap: One so nice, she wears it sideways.
  • Cute Bruiser: She looks innocent and acts girlish, but she hits like a rock slide and can toss around entire groups of buildings. She took out Kenpachi Zaraki with one punch (granted, he was already severely injured from his fight with Gremmy), and she's the only one of the eight Sternritter that actually got a clean hit on Ichigo himself. Even Robert Accutrone holds her strength in high regard.
  • Dark Action Girl: She indifferently kills some Soul Reapers by dropping entire buildings on them.
  • Deadpan Snarker: When Ichigo arrives by slamming into the clock tower, she comments that it looks like he's botched his attempt at a Dynamic Entry. She also comments on how "full of himself" Ichigo is to try making a beeline to Yhwach while surrounded by eight Sternritter.
  • Dissonant Serenity: She always has a serene, calm expression on her face and acts like her usual princess-like self even when she’s fighting or slaughtering enemies.
  • Emotionless Girl: By far one of the less emotional of the Sternritters, usually displaying a stoic expression and barely emoting in her dialogues. The only exception is when Pepe brainwashes her into her love slave, where she smiles in a trance as she attacks Liltotto.
  • Enhanced Punch: Meninas's main power is vastly augmenting her physical strength to the point of massively bulking up, in order to deliver devastatingly powerful punches.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Downplayed Trope. In both the manga and anime, Meninas has a mildly sympathetic look in her face as she watches Giselle kill Bambietta. It doesn't mean she stops Giselle, but it's also not something Meninas seems to like either.
  • Growing Muscles Sequence: Her Schrift makes her able to expand her muscles to nearly the size of Opie's Ayon-enhanced muscles, presumably enhancing her strength along with it.
  • Hulking Out: Apart of Super-Strength, her Schrift allows her to increase the size of her muscles, something that presumably gives her an even greater physical strength.
  • Jerkass: Despite her cute and innocent demeanor, Meninas just stands aside and lets Bambietta die and become a zombie, even though she knew what Giselle might do and could've stepped in. Though given how she voiced her disapproval towards her previously, this could just be a dislike of Bambietta specifically.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: The anime and the light novels (specifically Can't Fear Your Own World) show that despite her ruthlessness and seeming apathy, she actually does care about her fellow Quincies, and specifically the female Sternritter, despite hiding it behind a snarky pseudo-mean girl persona.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She's busty, she's got long legs and she has large hips. She wears a tight, form-fitting uniform with no sleeves, thigh-high stockings, and a frilled skirt.
  • Muscles Are Meaningless: Zig-zagged. She has herculean strength despite her thin limbs, yet she's capable of producing much more muscle mass to increase her power.
  • Only Six Faces: She's basically Orihime with a clothing change and palette swap.
  • Pet the Dog: In the anime, she actually helps a wounded Candice up and tries to get her away from the battlefield right as Yhwach activates the Auswahlen. Even as the Auswahlen comes down on them both, Meninas stays by Candice to the very last second, never once thinking of stepping away or leaving her comrade for dead. She doesn't even snark at Candice about her loss (at least on screen), she just focuses on getting Candice to safety.
  • Pink Is Feminine: She has pink hair, which is accompanied by the most feminine bearing of the female Sternritter.
  • Psycho Pink: Pink is her personal Color Motif, seen in her hair, belt, bow and Vollstandig. While she’s not one of the worst Sternritters morality-wise, she’s still a ruthless antagonist with no qualms about crushing her enemies.
  • Shaping Your Attacks: In the anime, under her Sklaverei-powered Vollstandig, she can mold her attacks in the shape of dumbbells for close quarter combat, which she can also change into a pair of dumbbell-shaped batons (giving her a cheerleader image) and blades.
  • Statuesque Stunner: She stands at 191 cm/6'3" tall and is the tallest female character.
  • Super-Strength: Meninas' Schrift is 'The Power', which increases her physical strength to supernatural level. She can effortlessly lift several buildings and their foundations, punch a weakened Kenpachi hard enough to paralyze him, and hit Ichigo hard enough to leave a bruise when he just came back from training in the Spirit King's realm. Even the other Sternritter are in awe of her strength, as shown when Robert Accutrone is surprised by Ichigo tanking a hit from her.
  • The Undead: The novel Bleach: Cannot Fear Your Own World reveals that at some point after Liltotto knocked her out she did, somehow, die (possibly from Yhwach's Auswählen), but was brought back from the dead and turned into this by Mayuri, along with Candice and Najahkoop.
  • Wicked Heart Symbol: While all of the female Sternritter have a heart-shaped buckle in their belts, Meninas is the only one with a clear heart motif, as seen in her bow, arrows and Vollstandig, all made of heart-shaped reishi and in the case of her Sklaverei Vollstandig, covering her chest and knees in hearts. She’s one of the villains, however, so the Heart Symbol motif contrasts with her merciless actions.

    T - Candice Catnipp

Candice Catnip

Vollständig
"All I know is that this guy just covered me in dirt. And that, he’s not getting away with!! How the hell many hours earlier than everyone else d’you think I have to get up every day to make sure my hair is perfect, eh?!!!"
Species: Quincy
Weapon: Unnamed bow
Vollständig: Balbarriel
Schrift: T - The Thunderbolt
Voiced by: Yumi Uchiyama (JP), Shara Kirby (EN)

Sternritter "T" of "The Thunderbolt". She's a passionate and headstrong young woman, whose bluntness extends towards peers such as Bambietta.

Her power allows her to electrify the spirit particles in the air, hence her title of the "Thunderbolt". She is also capable of manifesting a Quincy bow from the heart-shaped buckle on her belt. Her Vollständig, named Balbarriel in the anime, grants her six thunderbolt-shaped wings she can use as makeshift swords.

  • Achilles' Heel: The anime reveals that her Vollständig, Balbarriel, needs a recharge period if used too often. Unfortunately for Candice, this happened at the worst possible moment: Her fight against Byakuya. Without the ability to launch gigantic lighting bolts, she's no better than a sitting duck.
  • Adaptation Dye-Job: The cover of chapter 581 and the digital colored scans portray her with lime green eyes and hair, but the cover of chapter 640 changes her eye color to blue. Bleach Brave Souls goes with the first color palette, however, here the color of her lightning attacks and her Vollständig are changed from light blue to lime green.
  • Alliterative Name: Both her names begin with the same "Ca" sound.
  • Ambiguous Situation: In the manga, she's defeated by Byakuya off screen, and she's last seen face down on the ground, covered in a pool of her own blood. But Liltotto claimed Candice was still alive. We never see her getting hit by the Auswahlen and she never shows up with Liltotto, Bazz-B, or Giselle to call a truce with the Soul Reapers afterwards. Much like Meninas, we learn she died only in a light novel released after the manga ended, and we're still not told if she died from her wounds to Byakuya, died from the Auswahlen, or if she was killed by Mayuri who we're told captured her and Meninas. This is averted in the anime, where we see her getting hit by the Auswahlen alongside Meninas.
  • Amusing Injuries: When she and her female group are tossed into a building, she has the unfortunate honor of being the first to land, so the other three end up using her as a cushion. It's capped off by Liltotto jumping off her face. She's certain they were doing it on purpose.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Candice's left arm is destroyed when she tries to block Ichigo's Getsuga Jujisho, leaving her to swear in frustration as she grips the bloody stump.
  • Artificial Limbs: A bizarre version when her left arm is destroyed by Ichigo's Getsuga Jujisho. Giselle manipulates the flesh from a zombified Shinigami to create a new arm for her.
  • Berserk Button: She takes hours to get her hair perfect, so any damages given to it serves to make her even angrier than usual. When Ichigo throws her towards a building and gets her bruised and covered in dirt, she goes ballistic.
  • Butt-Monkey: Among her peers, she's the one to suffer most punishment; during their battle against Ichigo, she suffers a lot of injuries (such as losing an arm or being used as a cushion by her friends when Ichigo throws them to a building) while being mocked by her group, to add salt to the wound. When she, Robert, and Nanana tag-team Byakuya, she's effortlessly beaten offscreen along with them. Her only major victory involved beating down an already-weakened Kenpachi, and she still needed help from 3 other Sternritters to do that.
  • Character Tics: Whenever she's excited, she licks her lips.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle:
    • When Ichigo returns from the Royal Palace, she takes point and tries to fight him to get what she wants if she kills him. Ichigo easily throws her around, and humiliates her without trouble, leaving her unable to even hurt him.
    • After Yhwach departs for the Royal Palace, with Ichigo in hot pursuit, Candice and seven other Sternritters engage the remaining Soul Reapers in a fight. Come Chapter 594, she, NaNaNa and Robert are found lying on the ground, presumably defeated by Byakuya.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Both her eyes and hair are pale lime green colored in the digital colored scans and Bleach Brave Souls.
  • Dark Action Girl: She's hot-blooded, foul-mouthed, and gleefully fries some 11th Division Soul Reapers with her lightning bolts. She even electrocutes Kenpachi.
  • Death from Above: She introduced herself to the 11th Division by tossing lightning bolts down on some hapless Red Shirts searching for Yachiru.
  • Dual Wielding: She dual-wields lightning bolt-shaped swords drawn from the wings of her Vollständig, for a total of six.
  • Dynamic Entry: She announces her arrival on the battlefield by destroying Red Shirts with a lightning strike.
  • Elemental Weapon: Her bow fires electricity-imbued Heilig Pfeil, and she gains a pair of lightning bolt-shaped swords after activating Vollständig.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: She hates Bambietta's habit of inviting men to her room just so she can kill them to blow off some steam, though Giselle in the manga suggests that she's only objecting because she's missing the chance to take them to bed herself.
    • In both the manga and anime, Candice looks rather uncomfortable while watching Giselle kill a wounded Bambietta and zombify her. Candice never stops it from happening but she seemingly thinks it's overkill.
  • Green and Mean: Possesses a vibrant chartreuse mane of hair and is a merciless, wrathful warrior fighting in favor of the antagonistic Quincies. Her attacks in Bleach Brave Souls are also portrayed with the same yellowish-green color.
  • Hot-Blooded: Candice has a very short temper. Among Bambietta's groupies, she's the easiest to provoke. Most of her hotbloodedness manifests in the (oddly funny) expressions she makes whenever she's offended, rather than violence.
  • Hypocrite: In Bleach: Cannot Fear Your Own World she criticizes Neliel and Halibel for wearing outfits that show off so much of their figures, while still wearing the same revealing Wandenreich outfit. Meninas calls her out on this, but she ignores it.
  • Jerkass: Candice is a very temperamental person who will get angry at the slightest provocation. She also doesn't appear to value her comrades' lives much as she intentionally lets Bambietta die to become Giselle's zombie, despite being two feet away from her. She knew firsthand what Giselle's abilities could do, as evident later on when she tells Giselle to heal her arm, without resorting to using blood.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Her anger issues aside, the novels show that she does care about her fellow female Sternritter, she sees them as her friends, and she shows immense appreciation to them for sticking by her after the war. This even applies to Bambietta, and her own brush with death or near death mellows her out a bit.
  • Leeroy Jenkins: Candice's hotheaded nature can be detrimental at times. Her fellow female Sternritter had hoped to fight Ichigo with a unified strategy, given his special status. However, Candice is too fired up to care and charges straight in to fight him alone. When she loses her arm, Liltotto points out it's because she's fighting too emotionally for strategy, but it only fires her up even more.
  • Leg Focus: Her legs usually gain a lot of focus in panel shots, emphasised by the fact she wears nothing on them except for a pair of boots and tiny shorts.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Her lightning bolts are powerful enough to scorch Kenpachi and she moves so swiftly she can blitz him when he's attempting to do the same to her. When Ichigo throws her into a building that proceeds to collapse on her, all it does is annoy her.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Her clothing exposes her large cleavage, her midriff, and her legs. She's often positioned in panels to expose either her legs or cleavage and sometimes both. Occasionally her butt too.
  • Ms Swears-A-Lot: She's easily the most foul-mouthed of the Sternritter, with almost every thing she says peppered with at least one curse word.
  • Only Six Faces: She looks like a teenaged Rangiku with her hair dyed green.
  • Personality Powers: Her Schrift allows her to create and control lightning bolts, allowing her to perform devastating lightning attacks. This goes handily with her short-tempered, easy to provoke nature.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: She chewed out Bambietta for killing attractive mooks every time she's frustrated. It's a waste of a hot guy.
  • Psycho Electro: Candice's Schrift allows her to project lightning bolts and use them as weapons, and she is a very vicious and merciless warrior serving Yhwach's ambitions.
  • Really Gets Around: Giselle suggests that she does, but Candice objects.
  • Shock and Awe: The name of Candice's Schrift is 'The Thunderbolt'. It allows her to generate, discharge, and control lightning bolts. She can generate powerful lightning attacks whenever she wants, and her Heilig Pfeil is said to be a whopping five gigajoules. She is also very fast, which allows her to blitz Kenpachi when he tries to blitz her.
  • Skewed Priorities: She wants to fry Ichigo to a crisp, not because he's one of the designated war potentials or that he just threw her into a building, but because doing so got her hair dirty.
    Giselle: That's why she's angry?
  • Slasher Smile: She sports an epic, wicked grin (even sticks out her tongue and licks her lips) as she fries several 11th Division soldiers with her lightning.
  • The Undead: Bleach: Cannot Fear Your Own World reveals that she is, in fact, still alive (in a sense), after the events in the manga, having been revived as a zombie by Mayuri, along with Meninas and Najahkoop.
  • The Worf Effect: After being established as a powerful warrior by killing a lot of Red Shirts from the 11th Division and taking down an injured Kenpachi, she later is beaten by Ichigo in many different ways once he arrives at Seireitei, to show his progress after his training in the Royal Palace. Later she's used to show how strong Byakuya became after going through a similar training, being defeated by him off-screen along with NaNaNa and Robert. The anime expands on the fight a bit, which reveals that 'The Thunderbolt' needs a recharge period, and Candice ran out of energy at the worst possible moment before being beaten by Senbonzakura in one hit, implying Worf Had the Flu.
  • Tomboy with a Girly Streak: She mostly displays unladylike behavior like a short temper or being brutal in a fight, but she's shown to be interested in boys and takes great pride in carefully caressing her hair, to the point she gets mad when Ichigo ruins it.
  • Tomboyish Voice: She has a low, aggressive tone suiting her hotheadedness and vulgarity.
  • Worf Had the Flu: The anime has her Vollständig run out of power during her fight with Byakuya, leaving her defenseless. It's implied that otherwise, she would have put up a better fight, given her Schrift is much better in direct combat than NaNaNa's and whatever Robert's was.
  • Yellow Lightning, Blue Lightning: Her electric attacks in the digital colored scans are portrayed as light blue in color (following the overall blue motif of the Quincy). Bleach Brave Souls, on the other hand, portrays them instead as green colored, following her own color motif.

    Z - Giselle Gewelle

"Nothing good will come to you even if you kill me."
Species: Quincy
Weapon: Unnamed bow
Vollständig: Azhalbiora
Schrift: Z - The Zombie
Voiced by: Nao Tōyama (JP), Casey Mongillo (EN)

Sternritter "Z" of "The Zombie". A petite girl with quirky hair that's tied to make it look like she has antennae. She's a tad stranger than her other compatriots, publicly talking about whether or not someone's had sex without a care in the world, and generally acting flighty in the middle of battle. Despite this, she is capable of great sadism and cruelty.

As "The Zombie", she possesses a powerful Healing Factor, making her very difficult to kill, and she is able to use dead bodies to heal her teammates. She can also control anyone who comes into physical contact with her blood, making her victims a type of "zombie". Perhaps to reflect this, she also has a bone-themed bow. Her Vollständig, named Azhalbiora in the anime, grants her skeletal wings which can produce reishi skeletal soldiers.

  • All for Nothing: Liltotto, Giselle and Bazz-B form an Enemy Mine with the Shinigami when Yhwach's Auswahlen makes them realize how little he values them. Bazz-B fights Haschwalth and loses, but the fight may have slightly wavered Haschwalth's allegiance toward their emperor. The two girls? Defeated off-panel, accomplishing nothing more than briefly disturbing Yhwach's nap.
  • Alliterative Name: Despite the spelling of Giselle's name, they both start with the same soft "Gheh" sound.
  • All There in the Manual: After failing to kill Yhwach, Giselle was last seen lying in a pool of her own blood with no confirmation if she died or survived thanks to her abilities. Advertisment for the novel Bleach: Cannot Fear Your Own World reveals that she indeed survived. The novel further elaborates on her abilities and her relationship with Bambietta.
  • Ambiguous Gender: Or rather ambiguous sex. Giselle presents herself as female, but Yumichika and Charlotte imply that Giselle may be a transgender woman. It is not confirmed if they are right or wrong and Giselle's true sex is played as a mystery in the manga, but Kubo later clarified in a 2022 Q&A that this is correct.
  • Amusing Injuries: In the anime, Liltotto fires a Golden Crunch at Ichigo while Giselle is right behind him, causing her to panic and then express relief when he indirectly saves her by holding the jaws open. When Meninas starts attacking him, he jumps out of the way, allowing the jaws to chomp into Giselle's neck. Because of her Healing Factor, it's not taken too seriously.
  • Animal Motifs: The Cockroach. Her hair resembles cockroach antennae, and like cockroaches, she has an association with corpses and is very, very hard to kill.
  • Antagonist Abilities: Giselle's Zombie abilities are triggered via contact with her blood, so she entices her opponents to cut her ensuring they become covered in her blood. If they are alive when this contact happens, they are placed in a state of undeath allowing Giselle to control their minds. If they were dead, they're resurrected under Giselle's complete control. Giselle's Healing Factor is so great she's almost impossible to kill and instantly heals even lethal injuries.
  • Badass Adorable:
    • Giselle has the face of cute young girl and likes to engage in funny shenanigans, but according to Liltotto she is even stronger than Meninas and Candice.
    • Applies to her Vollständig minions too. These reishi skeletons are adorable in a cartoonish sort of way, but it's been confirmed that they and their bones can be used to zombify someone without the need for Giselle's blood. Suffice to say... not good.
  • Bad Boss: When Bambietta begs for Giselle to give her... something unspecified, Giselle responds by punching her, grabbing her by the hair, and flashing a Slasher Smile after giving her a False Reassurance. Giselle also has no qualms about using her as a Human Shield or performing Cold-Blooded Torture.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Giselle is a cheerful person who likes to make silly faces and snark at friends. Giselle is also a ruthless fighter who is remorseless when forcing a bunch of Shinigami soldiers to kill themselves, and has no qualms about murdering her own teammates to gain access to their abilities, as with Bambietta.
  • Blood Magic: Anyone Giselle's blood touches becomes a "controlled corpse". Smaller amounts only work on weaker individuals, and they retain their sense of self. On stronger individuals, more blood is required and it will take time to work its way through the target's system, causing the target's complexion to become dark red. These zombies are fanatically loyal to Giselle and almost impossible to kill short of full vaporization. It can even revive the dead. Quincies can only be converted after death and with Hollows the effect is only temporary.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Liltotto notes that Giselle is stronger than several of her comrades, but in battle Giselle prefers to let her zombies fight and would rather fool around instead. The post manga novels claim that Giselle could rival a captain like Mayuri in intelligence, if she simply put some effort into it.
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: After Mayuri injures Giselle in their confrontation, Giselle hides away in a cave with Bambietta. To heal, Giselle absorbs Bambietta's blood, which causes a great deal of pain to the latter. Giselle decides to add to the pain by biting and tugging a chunk of Bambietta's skin. When Bambietta pleads with Giselle not to take so much blood, and says she doesn't wanna die from it, Giselle responds by repeatedly slamming Bambietta's head onto a rock while saying "You're already dead!" All Giselle cared about was getting as much blood as possible, regardless of whether or not it was too much for Bambietta to handle (who was rendered incapacitated from it). Though Giselle knew that it would not kill Bambietta.
  • Combat Medic: Giselle can decompose corpses into new limbs to replace severed ones. As a result, Giselle's the group's designated healer.
  • Combat Sadomasochist: Despite her claiming otherwise, Giselle derives immense sadistic pleasure from inflicting pain. Giselle will openly admit to getting very turned on by killing Bambietta and zombifying the corpse. She also doesn't seem to mind getting chopped to pieces when she has to use her power which relies on her blood splattering on whoever she wishes to control.
  • Consuming Passion: After her fight with Mayuri, Giselle retreats with Bambietta in cave and begins to suck her blood and bite her flesh in order to regenerate. The panels and Bambietta's moans make it look much more sexual.
  • Control Freak: Giselle seems to have problems, if other people, especially Bambietta, don't listen to her commands. Whenever Bambietta doesn't follow or even talks back, Giselle immediately resorts to violence and once became very enraged. Giselle mentions that the lack of control is one of the disadvantages of zombifying someone after death. It would also explain her preference for the undead, as zombies can't disobey.
  • Cute and Psycho: Giselle has the innocent face of a little girl and behaves likes that most of the time, but she also once bashed Bambietta's head against the ground in sheer rage, only to gleefully embrace and declare her love for Bambietta a few seconds later. She is more than just a bit unstable.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Giselle's quick to push Candice's buttons, often making side comments that irritate the latter.
  • Death Is Cheap: Giselle's Schrift allows her to negate the death of anyone as long as their bodies are intact and bring them back as zombies. Combining her ability with Mayuri's science is one of the very few ways to bring someone truly back from the dead.
  • Deliberate Injury Gambit: Giselle controls targets through blood contact, so she goads opponents into recklessly attacking. This ensures Giselle's blood splatters all over the targets, snaring them. This backfires on Ikkaku and Yumichika because Yumichika immediately deduces what Giselle is up to. This forces Giselle to enact Plan B - bring out already created zombies to fight on Giselle's behalf.
  • Did Not See That Coming: Mayuri taking control of Giselle's zombies, turning them against Giselle.
  • Dissonant Serenity: She acts very friendly and childish no matter the situation. But behind that act is a truly cruel and vile person. Giselle is very gentle and calm when offering to help Bambietta, but the blind panic this offer causes Bambietta makes Giselle's serenity appear creepy. It's later revealed Giselle's idea of helping was to murder Bambietta and inject the corpse with her blood, effectively creating an immortal and loyal zombie with Vollständig and The Explode completely intact. After revealing that her blood effectively brainwashes them if it comes into contact, Giselle cheerfully orders the Red Shirts to commit suicide.
  • Domestic Abuse: Giselle is in love with Bambietta and in several ways behaves like her girlfriend, but this does not stop her from abusing Bambietta. She rationalizes it by reminding Bambi that she's already dead.
  • Enigmatic Minion: Giselle is constantly snarking, teasing and smiling when she interacts with most people. This makes her true feelings and thoughts hard to read even for her closest friends. Combined with her status of a Wild Card it gives her an eerie aura of unpredictability.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Giselle is a horrible, horrible person, but she is friends with the other female Sternritter and often concerned for their safety. Her love for Bambietta is likewise genuine. She is not above abusing Bambietta but at the end of the day she will make sure that Bambietta will survive and prevent what Bambietta would find much more gruesome: dying for real.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Gigi doesn't actually control the hearts and minds of the people she zombifies and is fine with that, being mildly annoyed when accused of doing so. She also shows some disgust towards Mayuri when she learns of his own experiments.
  • The Exile: When Liltotto choses to abandon the Wandenreich following Yhwach's defeat she takes Giselle with her, both because of their friendship and to make sure that Giselle doesn't abuse her necromantic powers.
  • Face Framed in Shadow: Giselle's confession that she doesn't want Bambietta to die is accompanied by a face covered in dark silhouette. It makes Giselle look sinister, and for good reason: Giselle kills Bambietta to convert her into a zombie that will do whatever Giselle wants her to do.
  • Face of an Angel, Mind of a Demon: Giselle looks cute and innocent, but she is one of the most depraved characters in the entire series.
  • Faking the Dead: After Zombie Kensei stabbed her, Giselle was able to convince Mayuri that she was truly dead. Giselle would later taunt him for that mistake.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Giselle always carries a cheerful, pleasant smile, speaks sweetly, and offers to help others and treat them well. It. Is. A. LIE. You don't want Giselle's kind of help — smiles and affectionate behaviour means Giselle is thinking of turning you into a zombie... and by the time Giselle starts smiling, it is already too late to run away.
  • Fetishized Abuser: It's implied that Giselle's and Bambietta's relationship is more than platonic, at least from Giselle's part, but this doesn't stop Giselle from abusing Bambietta psychologically and physically. Her abuse has been played for horror as much as it has been sexualized.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • When Candice spurns Giselle's attempt at using blood to heal her arm, Giselle mopes around about how she can't zombify Quincies unless they're already dead. This is exactly what happened to Bambietta.
    • Giselle's collection of fallen Soul Reapers is foreshadowed earlier in the arc, when we see one Soul Reaper collapse after his fight and a shadow loom over his fallen form. It turns out the shadow that fell over the fallen Hitsugaya was Giselle, who calls on him to fight Mayuri on Giselle's behalf.
    • Giselle and Liltotto collapsed on the ground after their fight with Yhwach and he immediately went to sleep. Once Orihime and Ichigo arrived at Yhwach's throne room, there was no trace of the two. This would imply their survival and Haschwalth's help in rescuing them during the night.
  • For the Evulz: Giselle's decision to reanimate Bambietta into a mindless zombie. While it does make sense to keep a powerful ally around, Giselle demonstrates the ability to conventionally heal allies. Giselle wanted to turn Bambietta into a zombie. It wasn't a necessity, and it wasn't compassion. Despite this, she claims to not be a sadist.
  • Freak Out: When Bambietta pleads Giselle not to take too much blood so that she doesn't die, Giselle completely loses her composure and bashes Bambietta's head against the ground, shouting that Bambietta is already dead. It takes a moment for Giselle to realize afterwards what actually happened.
  • The Gadfly: Giselle likes to flirt, insult or snark in order to get a reaction from others. This takes a turn for the dark in her interactions with Bambietta. Giselle admits the reason for her psychological torment of Bambietta is because she likes to see her break down and cry.
  • Good Thing You Can Heal: Giselle claims not to be a very good fighter. That doesn't matter because what Giselle doesn't mention is the phenomenal ability to heal. Giselle can instantly recover from being cut in half and even unbreak a broken neck. When a Red Shirt cut through Giselle's heart, Giselle still regenerated, although at a somewhat slower than usual pace and with the help of stealing the blood of others. Even Yhwach was unable to kill her.
  • Hair Antennae: Giselle's hair is tied on top to give the effect of insect-like antennae coming out of the head.
  • Healing Factor: Despite being sliced from shoulder to stomach, Giselle just pushes the two pieces back together and is instantly healed. When Giselle's neck is broken by Ichigo, it is instantly reset as if simply cricking a joint. Being stabbed through a vital point, however, is quite the work to heal from; Giselle heals herself by sucking the blood from Bambietta's zombiefied body.
  • Healing Hands: Giselle can use her Schrift to heal people by taking parts from others, including the dead, to heal their own. This is done to restore Candice's arm. Giselle is also able to repair zombies in this fashion. She can also heal herself as well from any injury up to, and including getting sliced vertically in half using 'The Zombie'.
  • Hidden Depths: There are instances that show that Giselle is more intelligent than she lets on. She knows which buttons she has to push in order to get a rise of her friends and enemies alike and is easily able read the stoic expressions of Liltotto and figure out her true feelings and thoughts much to the latter's chagrin. She is able to fake being dead to such a degree that it even can fool the likes of Mayuri and Yhwach. Her giving Hitsugaya the Schutzstaffel uniform implies familiarity with the history of the Hagal Rune. The novels later state the possibility that her intelligence could rival Mayuri, though her lack of understanding of Mayuri's scientific counters to her power undercut this.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Mayuri manages to quickly study Hisuguya's blood in his zombified state and make a virus to counteract it that puts Giselle's zombies in Mayuri's control. He then promptly sics one of the zombies on Giselle, stabbing through Giselle's chest in no time.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Giselle denies being a sadist, but takes great pleasure in zombifying enemies and allies alike, even gleefully humiliating and abusing an undead Bambietta. She also notes that Bambietta is rather crazy, despite not being a paragon of sanity herself.
  • I Love the Dead: She displays several necrophiliac tendencies throughout her screentime. Giselle is very, very enthusiastic about not only the creation and acquisition of new zombie thralls, but there are heavy sexual undertones regarding the treatment of personal "favorites", such as Bambietta's reanimated corpse. Her character poem outright states that she loves the dead.
  • Implausible Deniability: Giselle is genuinely perplexed when people suggest that she is sadistic and publicly announced that she isn't. But reading her trope page makes it impossible to portrait her as anything but one.
  • Insult Backfire: When Liltotto tries to insult Giselle by calling her a bitch, it only causes her to smile in delight.
  • I Shall Taunt You: When Giselle appears alive and well in front of Mayuri and Kyoraku after being seemingly destroyed by the former's zombies, Mayuri condescendingly comments on her durability. Giselle's response is to make a childish face at him.
  • In-Series Nickname: Both Bambietta and Candice call Giselle Gigi. Mayuri later gives her the name Zombie Girl.
  • Jerkass: Do NOT let her childish and cute demeanor fool you. Giselle is one of the most depraved and sadistic of the Sternritter. She kills Bambietta for no other reason than to turn her into one of her zombies so that she can do whatever she wants to her. She constantly abuses and harms her for no other reason than to get off on her pain.
  • Karma Houdini: Giselle is a very sadistic individual who abuses Bambietta a lot and killed her in the first place. Yet she survives the events of the final arc with no repercussions and seemingly lives happily ever after.
  • Kick Them While They Are Down: Bambietta was never a pleasant person, so having Giselle reanimate her into a corpse could be seen as well deserved karma. However, Bambietta already had her comeuppance in the form of Humiliation Conga in her fight with Dangai Joue. Therefore, Giselle's zombification of Bambietta, and corresponding desire to do the same to Candice, is portrayed as overkill villainy rather than karmic justice.
  • The Kirk: Of the rough Sternritter faction following the death of Yhwach. She is not as calm and rational as Liltotto, but also not driven by insticts as much as Bambietta.
  • Lean and Mean: The skinniest of the Sternritter (barring Liltotto) and easily one of the most utterly depraved characters in the entire series.
  • Lipstick Lesbian: Giselle is barring Meninas the most feminine Sternritter. She is also madly in love with her female friend Bambietta and not above (jokingly) flirting with Liltotto.
  • Loves the Sound of Screaming: Giselle claims to be positively turned on by Bambietta's pleading and begging Giselle to not "help" her.
  • Madness Mantra: In chapter 604, after being de-powered, Giselle is seen embracing Bambietta again, while repeatedly saying "Bambi-chan won't die... because I won't die... I won't die... I won't die..." with enormous bags under her eyes.
  • Major Injury Underreaction: When Giselle's left shoulder gets sliced in half, she just smiles and carries on talking. The wound disappears quickly.
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: After surviving Yhwach's Auswählen, Giselle makes the decision to help out the Soul Reapers if it means getting into close enough proximity to Yhwach to obtain revenge.
  • Nightmare Fetishist: Her necrophiliac tendencies aside, Giselle remarks how a banged-up and half mummified Bambietta looks cuter than usual. When seeing the cold expression of Liltotto Giselle finds that expression really creepy but also claims that she likes it.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Gives an epic one in Chapter 596, when Mayuri reveals that he can turn Giselle's zombies into his own.
    • Gets another one in Chapter 603 when Robert explains what's about to happen to the Sternritter left behind by Yhwach.
  • Only Friend: Giselle is the only one who doesn't insult Bambietta, opting instead to make fun of Candice and is the only female Sternritter, who calls Bambietta by her nickname. In general it seems that Giselle is the only one, who actually likes her. Unfortunately for Bambietta, Giselle's feelings are a bit extreme.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: After Yhwach uses the Auswahlen, Giselle is seen clinging onto Bambietta's lifeless body, repeatedly promising "I won't die" over and over. It's rare to see Giselle genuinely scared for her life like that.
  • People Puppets: While the Zombie appears to be necromancy at first, it is essentially this. Those who come into contact with Giselle's blood are enslaved to her will and become "corpses" that are fully self-aware but unable to act of their own volition. Giselle can control any flesh that has touched her blood, living or not, with the exception of Quincy flesh, which must be dead first, giving the impression of creating zombies. This is how she forces the Squad 11 members to commit suicide and is even able to transfer flesh to her comrades to heal wounds and restore limbs.
  • Perpetual Smiler: Giselle's constantly smiling, but displays a range of expressions from quirky smile to unhinged grin.
  • Proper Tights with a Skirt: Giselle wears a dress that reaches mid-thigh and black stockings that reveal no skin at all.
  • Playful Cat Smile: Giselle's most common expression, highlighting a cheerfully mischievous, sadistic personality.
  • Psychic-Assisted Suicide: Giselle's blood covers a bunch of 11th Division soldiers; when Giselle orders them to kill themselves, they do.
  • Psycho Lesbian: Giselle is genuinely insane, but that only becomes apparent in her interactions with her love Bambietta.
  • Puppeteer Parasite: Giselle's blood acts as this, infecting a host and making them slaves to Giselle's will.
  • Reverse Psychology: One of Giselle's favorite tactics in order to goad others into attacking her is using reverse psychology, by telling her opponents that they shouldn't attack her. Considering how her power relies on blood contact, she's not wrong.
  • Rule of Symbolism: Almost everything about Giselle are an allusion to the bokor from voudon religion. The battle and use of Hitsugaya against Mayuri strongly resembles the zombification process of the original myth.
  • Security Cling: She holds onto Bambietta's body for dear life after Yhwach activates the Auswahlen on the Sternritter.
  • Self-Harm–Induced Superpower: She can use her blood to turn anyone into a zombie, in which she has to injure herself first to do it.
  • Simple, yet Awesome: How can Giselle easily increase the scope and effectiveness of her abilities? By mixing her blood with water.
  • Soft-Spoken Sadist: Giselle greatly enjoys taking control of others and claims murdering Bambietta aroused her, displaying a characteristically serene and cheery demeanor the whole time.
  • Squee: When Candice ordered Giselle to heal her arm, the latter is elated... and then Candice tells Giselle not to use blood. Giselle is disappointed.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: A minor example. Giselle still treats Bambietta horribly, but following the end of the war she stops resorting to physical abuse, whenever Bambietta doesn't follow her orders, when before that would be her first response.
  • Unfriendly Fire: Giselle has no qualms about sacrificing an ally if it means obtaining another zombie.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: After being healed by Haschwalth's aide, Liltotto leaves with Giselle, since she believes that Giselle would turn their saviors into zombies and use their flesh to heal herself. Giselle later expresses no qualm about the idea of zombifying Ichigo even though it was him who defeated Yhwach in the end.
  • Voodoo Zombie: Everything about Giselle is a based on the bokor from Voudon beliefs. Giselle is able to create zombies by spreading her blood and like in the original myth, Giselle's zombies can both be undead and reanimated through her blood or living and Brainwashed into slavery. Bambietta's pleads for something...unspecific is reminiscent of the addictive effects of zombie powder. Like in the original myth Giselle is capable of both healing others and creating zombies. Even Giselle's Ambiguous Gender is a reference to the two hands of the bokor, the male right hand that uses white magic to heal and the female left hand that uses black magic to create zombies.
  • Wild Card: After the end of the war, Giselle lost any semblance of affiliation with any faction and unlike Liltotto is loosely motivated at best by her desire to get her former comrades back. She is such a loose cannon that Liltotto has to keep an eye on her, lest she unleashes a zombie apocalypse.
  • Why Did You Make Me Hit You?: Giselle has a tendency to hit or otherwise abuse Bambietta and every time she tells Bambietta that it is her own fault.
  • Yandere: Giselle has an... extreme liking towards Bambietta, particularly as a zombie. Giselle becomes enraged after hearing Bambietta's plea to not take so much of her blood and repeatedly bashes her head into the pavement until it cracks open and knocks her out. When Giselle realizes what happened, she glomps Bambietta happily, and gushes over over how much she loves her.
  • Zombie Apocalypse: Anyone who's died/nearly died over the course of this arc is fair game to be one of Giselle's zombies. Giselle's had a lot of time off-screen to run around converting people.
