Team Rabbits

    In General
  • Animal Motifs: Not overly apparent, but their AHSMB units look as if they had rabbit ears.
  • Child Soldier: All of them are underaged.
  • Designer Babies: All of them are result of the "Majestic Prince" project which was meant to create Super Soldiers to fight against the Wulgaru, due this each of them has a genetic enhancement that improves some aspect of them.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: At the school, they are collectively known as the Fail Five due their inability to work together, it's so widespread that a first-year student thought it was their actual team name.
  • Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: They may be unable to work together a lot of times but when the situation gets very serious they will cover each other's backs without issue.
  • Sentai: A classic color-coded example. Izuru is the Red Ranger and commander of the team, Asagi the stoic Blue second-in-command (though in The Movie he becomes the White Ranger), Tamaki the Pink (Rose) Ranger, Kei the serious Purple, Ataru The Smart Guy Yellow (Gold) and finally Ange the Black Sixth Ranger.
  • Super Mode: Their units all have the ability to "awaken" when their Harmonic Level reach a certain level. Red 5 is the only one to reach it during the show, while everybody else (except Ange) reaches it during The Movie.

    Izuru Hitachi

Voiced by: Hiroki Aiba (Japanese), Houston Hayes (English)

Leader of Team Rabbits and pilot of Red Five. He has dreamed of being a hero for as long as he can remember, also an aspiring mangaka despite not being very good at it. His genetic enhancement gave him high concentration.

  • The Ace: Starts acting like an Ace version of himself in episode 15, while his harmonic level is still spiked. Once it drops down again, he starts behaving normally once more.
  • Badass Longcoat: Doesn't wear one himself, but Red Five has long, ribbon-like attachments to its waist that create a similar effect. When it enters its Super Mode, they even become flexible, like cloth, enhancing the effect.
  • The Berserker: He starts to turn into this during battle as his health deteriorates.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Hurting his teammates or people he cares about is a way to push him to this. When that happens, RUN.
  • Butt-Monkey: His open desire to be a hero often results in him getting at snarked by all of his teammates.
  • The Casanova: Acts like a stereotypical one for a while in episode 15.
  • Chainsaw Good: One of Red Five's signature weapons is a Wave-Motion Tuning Fork with a chainsaw running the length of each "prong".
  • Character Development: He takes Randy's advice on how to be a good leader to heart, putting more trust in his team instead of trying to single-handedly protect them.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: For all of his fanboying over heroes, and his tendency to draw bad manga, he's still hands down the best pilot on the team.
  • "Do It Yourself" Theme Tune: Sings the 3rd ending theme, "Bokutachi wa Ikiteiru", with Asagi and Suruga.
  • Even the Guys Want Him: Played for Laughs in episode 15, where his new confident and smooth-talking personality causes even Suruga and Asagi to blush.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: He's half-Wulgaru, as the genetic son of Teoria and Simon. This is suggested to be one of the reasons he masters the JURIA-System so quickly.
  • The Hero: His wish since he was younger is to become this and he admits it proudly, which everyone else thinks is stupidly idealistic.
  • Heroic RRoD: During the final fight against Jiart Izuru pushes himself so far that he ends up in coma during most of The Movie.
  • Image Song: "Destiny" and "Bokutachi no Team" ("Our Team")
  • Law of Chromatic Superiority / Red Is Heroic: He pilots the appropriately named Red Five, and strives to be a hero.
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: When he starts to master his AHSMB controls, he is quite a deadly fighter. Outside of combat, he's still Team Rabbits' Butt-Monkey.
  • Long-Lost Relative: Turns out the DNA used to modify him comes from Teoria, Commander Simon is genetically his father and Asagi is his older brother.
  • Nice Guy: He is, hands down, the kindest member of Team Rabbits, being the one least likely to snark at his teammates. Episode 3 also shows him helping Teoria when it looks like she is being bothered by a stranger, even though Izuru didn't know her.
  • Oblivious to Love: He's unaware that Kei has deeper feelings for him.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Kei freaks out when she reads his manga and it was actually good. And it was indeed serious, as Izuru's momentary change in personality turns out to be an early sign that the JURIA system is slowly destroying his mind.
  • Open Mouth, Insert Foot: He has a bit of tendency to not think before he speaks, such as whenever Tamaki complains about not having a boyfriend.
  • Power Gives You Wings: Red Five's awakened form sports blue wings of light which act like Combat Tentacles in his fight with Jiart.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The passionate Red to Asagi's cool-headed Blue. Also doubles as Sibling Yin-Yang.
  • Shout-Out: He is the main protagonist, an Ace Pilot, and his AHSMB is codenamed Red Five.
  • Super-Power Meltdown: Despite being the best pilot and the most effective at combat for much of the series, episode 15 onward shows the after effects of constantly pushing himself to the limits, which really start to catch up with him.
  • Terrible Artist: His manga, according to everybody else.
  • Tranquil Fury: He has moments like this when fighting Jiart. In episode 23, he finally realizes he should stop trying to suppress Red Five's survival instinct in dodging, and starts to fight much better against Jiart.

    Toshikazu Asagi
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/asagi_2334.jpg
Voiced by: Shintarō Asanuma (Japanese), Corey Hartzog (English)
Second-in-command of Team Rabbits and pilot of Blue One. His genetic enhancement allows him to process high amount of data.
  • Beneath the Mask: Comes off as The Stoic but is constantly worried about how others see him and after a while in combat if he is doing enough to be on par with some of his teammates.
  • Big Brother Instinct: He becomes incredibly protective towards Izuru once their genetic relationship is revealed.
  • Butt-Monkey: Even moreso than Izuru. Asagi really can't catch a break, whether it be from his team's antics or his own chronic stomach aches brought on by stress.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Outside of battle, he's a Butt-Monkey, but his inner badass emerges whenever the team ends up in a pinch.
  • "Do It Yourself" Theme Tune: Sings the 3rd ending theme, "Bokutachi wa Ikiteiru", with Izuru and Suruga.
  • Epic Fail: When he dodges his battle armor after it was launched at him in episode 2, the event was being broadcast to the world and he becomes a laughing stock on the internet.
  • Image Song: "DameXDame=" ("No Good times No Good equals") and "Ame no Nioi de" ("With the Smell of Rain")
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: It becomes clear that he has a crush on Kei, but he decides to support her feelings for Izuru.
  • Katanas Are Just Better: Blue One has two, although he usually wields one at a time.
  • The Lancer: He's the close-quarters specialist of the team, always on the front lines with Izuru, and is the guy put in charge whenever Izuru can't take command for whatever reason.
  • Laser Blade: Also serves as his primary ranged weapon.
  • The Leader: He takes over as the leader of Team Rabbits In The Movie, due to Izuru being incapacitated for a good chunk of the runtime.
  • Long-Lost Relative: Turns out Commander Simon is his genetically his father and Izuru is his younger brother.
  • No-Respect Guy: Despite being the oldest of Team Rabbits and normally being told You Are in Command Now, he usually winds up feeling like such after anything good that happens on the battlefield.
  • Number Two: Among Team Rabbits, is often placed in charge when Izuru is not around or able to lead the team. The Movie has Rin explicitly designate him as The Leader, likely due to injuries that Izuru suffered at the end of the series.
  • The Protagonist: Asagi is given the main focus of the movie, due Izuru being out of commission after the fight with Jiart.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The cool-headed Blue to Izuru's passionate Red. Also doubles as Sibling Yin-Yang.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Competently acted as Leader while Izuru was dueling Jiart and when Izuru was unable to sortie in episode 15.

    Kei Kugimiya
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/keiprince_345.jpg
Voiced by: Yōko Hikasa (Japanese), Genevieve Simmons (English)

Pilot of Purple Two and the Mission Control during fights. Her genetic enhancement is Super-Hearing.

  • A-Cup Angst: The look she gives to Tamaki's chest in episode 1 hints at this.
    • Later during The Movie she beats Asagi and Suruga when they comment on Patricia's chest.
  • Alliterative Name: Kei Kugimiya.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: As she gains feelings for Izuru, she becomes increasingly weary of his relationship with Teoria.
  • Death Glare: Gives one to Izuru after he described watching the porn video Randy lent him as "refreshing".
  • "Do It Yourself" Theme Tune: Sings the 2nd ending, "Arigatou. Tadaima", with Tamaki.
  • Image Song: "Aitai yo ~No one else~" ("I Want To See You ~No one else~") and "Hanashi wo shiyou" ("Let's talk")
  • Innocently Insensitive: Due to her being unaware of Asagi's feelings, she sees no problem in begging him to get in the way of Izuru and Teoria's relationship.
  • Mission Control: Her unit, Purple Two, acts as this on the battlefield, providing various long-range sensor data and issuing commands to the other ASHMB units.
  • Oblivious to Love: She's so fixated on Izuru that it never crosses her mind that Asagi might have similar feelings towards her.
  • Relationship Sabotage: In episode 16, she pleads with Asagi to go with Izuru when the latter is asked out on a dinner date with Teoria. Luckily for her, Izuru also insists he goes, claiming he'll feel a little more at ease with him there.
  • The Smart Guy: Purple Two plays the role of Mission Control.
  • The Stoic: It's noted that she has trouble expressing her real feelings, which is suspected to be a reason the ASHMB doesn't respond quite as well to her.
  • Super-Hearing: As mentioned above this is her genetic enhancement, unfortunately, this can easily cause a Sensory Overload which forces Kei to wear earbuds to reduce the noise.
  • Sweet Tooth: If Kei is in the cafeteria she will always have something sweet. Episode 12 has her drinking an enormous amount of Condensed Milk Drinks; Tamaki drank one and almost knocked her out.
Tamaki: Do ants come after you in your sleep?!
  • Team Chef: She likes to think of herself this way, and enjoys baking cakes and having everyone eat them. Unfortunately, she's a Cordon Bleugh Chef who makes things that can only be described as blobs of sugar because she doesn't realize that not everybody likes having copious amounts of sugar in their food. One of her sweets actually nearly kills a recovering Izuru, who was acting weirdly like The Ace version of himself. He returns to normal after the medical staff revived him.
    • Later in the show, thanks to the help of her pit crew, she manages to make a perfectly normal cake that the rest of the team likes.

    Tamaki Irie
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tamakiprince_1493.jpg
Voiced by: Yuka Iguchi (Japanese), Monica Rial (English)

The pilot of the Rose Three, whose job is putting enemy formation in disarray with her unit's speed. Also a Love Freak in desperate search for a boyfriend.

  • Ace Pilot: After getting the hang of the JURIA system, she can pull off some impressive maneuvers with her Rose Three, piloting it in a planet's gravity well just as nimbly as in space.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: She is the youngest member of the team and everybody treats her like a younger sister.
  • Berserk Button: Izuru's insensitivity concerning her nonexistent love life.
  • Big Eater: Every time the team is seen eating Tamaki will have the biggest amount of food on her plate.
  • The Big Guy: Due to Rose Three's large boosters, her mech when armored is the largest of Team Rabbits. It is capable of even acting as a transport carrier for some of the others when necessary.
  • Big, Stupid Doodoo-Head: Don't ever expect a mature insult from her, because she prefers rather childish insults. At one point, she even calls Izuru a "stupey-poopy-doopy head".
  • Buxom Beauty Standard: She is incredibly stacked, and due to the skin-tight suit she wears, she is very suspectible to Gainaxing.
  • Cartwright Curse: Patrick dies shortly before he is able to give a Love Confession to her, although he tells others about his plan prior to his final mission.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: She's ditzy and not very bright, but at the same time, she also apparently has the second-highest sync ratio on the team, after Izuru.
  • The Ditz: Tends to ask questions on basic subjects.
  • "Do It Yourself" Theme Tune: Her seiyuu sings the 2nd ending, "Arigatou. Tadaima", with Kei.
  • Expy: Her mecha, the Rose Three, bears a lot of similarities to the GP03 Dendrobium.
  • Fragile Speedster: Rose Three is the fastest of all the mechs, but is in big trouble whenever something breaks through or gets past her shields.
  • Genius Ditz: When it comes to love, she actually studies on it and can quote scientific studies.
  • It's Personal: She makes it her mission to kill Lutiel after she finds out that it was she who killed Patrick.
  • Image Song: "Girls Of Summer" and "Go☆ahead"
  • Ms. Fanservice: Tamaki is among the bustiest of the female characters, her suit is skin tight, and she has to lean forward in a suggestive position in her cockpit. The slightest jolt will cause her breasts to bounce impressively. Episode 12 also sees her wear various outfits, such as a nurse's uniform, and a swimsuit.
  • Oblivious to Love: Ironically enough. Patrick of Team Doberman develops a crush on her and almost tells her he came to Ange's welcome party just to see her... until she sees Giulano and blows past him. Sadly, she only figures out that he had a crush on her after his death at the hands of Lutiel.
  • Serial Romeo: Much to her dismay.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Pickled guts of any type of aquatic life.

    Ataru Suruga
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/suruga_551.jpg
Voiced by: Junya Ikeda (Japanese), Tyler Galindo (English)

The pilot of the Gold Four and the sniper of the team. His genetic enhancement gives him superior selective memory.

  • Animal Motifs: Very cat-like, to the point that in episode 10, while wearing civilian clothing, he has a belt with a ragged, rear-facing length that resembles a cat's tail.
  • Antenna Hair: Has two large horn-like tufts that stick out.
  • Badass Boast: Never misses a chance to brag about his sniping skills whenever he starts racking up long-range kills.
  • Casanova Wannabe: Constantly tries to hit on women, even though he usually descends into comparing them favorably to military weapons they have no idea about. Despite his talk he is something of a Chivalrous Pervert; when the other male pilots have no problems watching porn, he usually feels uncomfortable and tries to leave the room.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: For all his quirks, he's still incredibly skilled in long-range combat.
  • "Do It Yourself" Theme Tune: Sings the 3rd ending theme, "Bokutachi wa Ikiteiru", with Izuru and Asagi.
  • Friendly Sniper: He generally provides long-range support from the Gold Four, and keeps his cheery demeanor the entire time.
  • Image Song: "Trigger" and "Koi no Sniper" ("Love Sniper")
  • Military Otaku: To the point he knows the individual prices for the munitions he uses in combat.

    Kuroki Ange
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/angeprince_9469.jpg
Voiced By: Akeno Watanabe (Japanese), Kalin Coates (English)

The team's Sixth Ranger pilots the appropriately named Black Six, which focuses in mid-range artillery and close quarters combat.

  • The Ace: Episode 14 basically has a long montage dedicated to Ange destroying Team Rabbits in each of their areas of expertise.
    • Broken Ace: As good as Ange is, Ange's split personality means that Ange is either paralyzed by indecision or a full on berserker, unable to follow orders. While Ange's skills have kept them alive, time will only tell if this will become a liability.
  • Ambiguous Gender: The team can't decide if the new recruit is a guy or a girl, and all of them call Ange a "him" and "her" at various points. The team eventually settles on calling Ange just "Ange", even in the third person.
    • When Izuru asked in episode 14, Ange simply cuts him off and with a hint of emotion, ends the conversation.
  • Attack! Attack! Attack!: Ange's default tactic in battle. Ange generally goes on the offensive as much as possible, and doesn't worry too much about defense.
  • Beam Spam: Black Six's primary means of attack.
  • The Berserker: The masculine personality is this, with most of Ange's lines being screaming or cursing as Ange charges headfirst into danger.
  • Blood Knight: Displays this personality when fighting in their mech. So much so that during their intro battle in episode 13, the rest of Team Rabbits is shocked at Ange's behavior during the fight.
  • Bifauxnen: If the apparent implication that Ange is actually female is true, then Ange makes for one very sharp girl. If not, then Ange would be just the suave Bishounen of the team. Either way, Ange is definitely pretty.
  • Character Development: Never loses Ange's berserk Blood Knight personality, but eventually stops screaming at Ange's team mates and superiors to stay out of Ange's way, and even becomes protective of the rest of Team Rabbits during the final battle.
  • Crippling Overspecialization: The Black Six's impressive firepower makes it perfect for clearing out hordes of the Wulgaru's mindless cannon fodder. This is considerably less effective against any of the Wulgaru's military commanders, who are typically too fast to hit at long range unless outnumbered, and can tank anything that lands.
  • Mix-and-Match Weapon: Black Six's primary sidearms are a pair of handguns with bayonets.
  • Mo Cap Mecha: A downplayed example, but Black Six's primary fire control comes in the form of a pair of Hard Light handguns wielded in the cockpit by Kuroki.
  • New Meat: Joins Team Rabbits in episode 13.
  • Not So Above It All: When Ange spots the guys watching a porn video in episode 19, Randy attempts to turn it off. That only seems to anger Ange, who says watching such videos gives a similar feeling when fighting. Randy agrees, and says watching such videos motivates him to protect the next generation, then promptly forgets the point he was trying to make.
  • Shouting Shooter: Lets out a Cluster F-Bomb during a period of Unstoppable Rage.
  • Sixth Ranger: In episode 13, Ange joins Team Rabbits. Bonus points for their unit named Black Six.
  • Split Personality: Seems to go between a Shrinking Violet and a Jerkass Blood Knight, which maybe a byproduct of Black Six's personality overriding Ange's.
  • Unstoppable Rage: Tends to completely flip during combat, especially if they don't get to fight the enemy's Ace.

Team Doberman

    Randy Maxwell
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/randyprince_3724.jpg
Voiced by; Anri Katsu (Japanese), Andrew Love (English)

  • Big Brother Mentor: To Izuru and the rest of Team Rabbits to a lesser extent.
  • Casanova Wannabe: To the embarrassment of his teammates since he hits on every woman he comes across.
  • Catchphrase: Tally Ho!
  • Character Death: He sacrifices himself after entrusting Rakesh with the information on the Gate's location.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: He acts like an idiot most of the time, but he also led his team through many of the early battles of the war in units that are far inferior to Team Rabbits'.
  • Defiant to the End: His unit shredded, bleeding heavily, low on ammo and against a whole Wulgaru battle fleet. He flies right at them to give Rakesh time to get back to the ship.
  • '80s Hair: With a mullet that would do Michael Knight proud.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Dies protecting Rakesh, and allowing him to escape with the information on the location of the Gate.
  • Mentor Occupational Hazard: Is killed off in Episode 19 getting information critical for Earth forces in the war.
  • Mr. Vice Guy: He may be an egotistical lecher, but not only does he have many heroic moments under his belt as leader of Team Dobermen, but he also is one of the first people who's not a member of the Godinion crew to show Team Rabbits any respect.
  • Ramming Always Works: How he goes out, slamming his Rhino into one of the ships in Lutiel's fleet.
  • Too Kinky to Torture: He seems to have a thing for the higher-ranking female officers, noticing that several of the women in the adult videos they watch resemble them, such as Amane. In episode 19, both Patrick and Rakesh joke that he seems to be the type of guy that likes to be stepped on. He essentially agrees with them.
  • Open Mouth, Insert Foot: If there's a woman present expect Randy to say something dumb.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Like the rest of Team Doberman, their AHSMB Rhino units are prototypes for Team Rabbit's suits better than the normal weapons the military has but not as powerful.

    Patrick Hoyle

    Rakesh Chandrasekhar
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rakeshprince_6440.jpg
Voiced by: Yuuki Fujiwara (Japanese), Kyle Jones (English)

  • Big Damn Heroes: Episode 23, leads a fleet of mass produced Rhino units that help turn the tide Amane's fleet during the Final battle.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Constantly snarks at Randy.
  • The Lancer: To Randy, acting as the voice of the reason when Randy saying something dumb.
  • Self-Sacrifice Scheme: Tries to do this for Patrick... only to wind up surviving and being the only member of his team to make it back with the critical mission information. Needless to say, this weighs hard on him.
  • Shout-Out: His name is likely a reference to the first Indian cosmonaut.
  • Sixth Ranger: Becomes this, alongside Patricia, after joining Team Fawn, which gets renamed to Team Fox.
  • Sole Survivor: By the end of episode 19, he is the last living member of the original Team Doberman.
  • Token Minority: He's the only dark-skinned member of his team. Both "Rakesh" and "Chandrashekhar" are Indian-language names derived from Sanskrit, so it can be surmised that he is Indian.

GDF

    Rin Suzukaze
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rinprince_2624.jpg
Voiced by: Miyuki Sawashiro (Japanese), Shelley Calene-Black (English)

Starting as the Rabbits' instructor at the academy, she was assigned as their commander aboard the Godinion.

  • The Captain: Originally she was the Team's instructor, but she was chosen as captain of the Godinion when they were called into service, given her experience with them.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: Considers being called Rin-Rin by Reika.
  • Good-Looking Privates: Randy certainly thinks so.
  • Hot Teacher: When she was an instructor at the Academy. The male students were known to have something of a general crush on her.
  • Identical Stranger: Going by Izuru and Asagi's comment the porn actress of the video they watched looks a lot like Rin.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: She tries to look out for the best interests of Team Rabbits, and usually gives them a surprising amount of freedom to accomplish their missions however they see fit.
  • Sweet Tooth: Is seen with sucking on lollipops in about half her scenes and gives them out to Team Rabbits when their down. She even tries to put them in sake!

    Simon Gato
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/simonprince_2098.jpg
Voiced by: Hiroki Tochi (Japanese), Jay Hickman (English)

  • Big Good: Or at least the closest thing the setting has to one. As the head of the MJP project, he was the person who spearheaded the development of the AHSMB and was responsible for training the recruits to pilot them.
  • Cool Shades: He's never seen without... whatever that thing is over his eyes.
  • Death Seeker: His monologue at the end of episode 24, after being saved by Teoria hint on this.
  • Good Scars, Evil Scars: A massive one over his left eye.
  • Luke, I Am Your Father: He is the genetic donor to Asagi and Izuru.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: He tends to make calm, calculated decisions, unlike General Komine. He is also largely responsible for humanity simply not being wiped out by the Wulgaru thanks to access to certain technology, as well as the training of the AHSMB pilots.

     Dai Komine
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/komine_1877.jpg
Voiced by: Toshiharu Nakanishi (Japanese), John Swasey (English)

  • Attack! Attack! Attack!: He refuses to retreat because of his pride.
  • General Failure:
    • He thought he had found a Wulgaru supply route and sent Team Rabbits to destroy it. It turned out, it was a group of heavily-armed recon units.
    • In episode 7, he steals Lt. Amane's battle plans and passes it off as his own only to even wreck those when the sudden appearance of the enemy causes him to launch the attack fleet before Lt. Amane believed they were prepared to counter.
  • The Cavalry: Returns in the movie in command of the Star Rose 2, which saves the survivors from the fight against the Wulgaru at the end of the show.
  • Didn't Think This Through: His strategies fail because he never considers every possibility. They usually center around making soldiers attack everything in sight and the end is their deaths and lots of wasted resources.
  • Hate Sink: He has no real redeeming qualities, and is such a moronic leader that when he finally gets the boot, no one misses him.
  • Idiot Houdini: He is never shown being punished for his idiotic decisions, but he does disappear from the show following the disaster at Ceres.
  • Jerkass: He's pretty much just a terrible person overall, with no real redeeming qualities ever shown.
  • Lethally Stupid: To put it nicely, the man's just an overall incompetent moron.
  • More Hateable Minor Villain: The Wulgaru are hard to hate since they have a serious case of Blue-and-Orange Morality, and there is a certain nobility to them, despite (or perhaps, because of) them being a race of social Darwinists. Komine is an incompetent fool who spends pretty much his whole time onscreen making things difficult for the young heroes and the rest of the military, being a Jerkass and pointing fingers at his underlings for his own screw-ups.
  • Never My Fault: Due to his pride and ego, any and all failures on his part are due to someone else. Fortunately for those surviving under his command, he's removed from his post after a few disastrous battles that cost countless lives.
  • Pride: His ego is probably the biggest one in the show.

    Hazuki Amane
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/amaneprince_8861.jpg
Voiced by Masumi Asano (Japanese), Luci Christian (English)

  • Beleaguered Assistant: To Komine.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: Eventually averted, after suffering under Komine's command for long enough her efforts are recognized by the GDF who promotes her not once, but twice. She is given her own ship as well as command of Team Doberman.
  • Field Promotion: Due to being rather competent (compared to Komine anyway), and the sheer losses of leaders suffered during various engagements with the Wulgaru, she is given some promotions (yes, plural) in episode 15.
  • Only Sane Man: At least regarding the GDF military leadership. Aside from Simon and Team Rabbits, she's the only one that has some luck fighting against the Wulgaru and attempts to form tactics that could stand a chance against them.
  • Perpetual Frowner: Well when you're an assistant to General Komine, you'd stop smiling too. Post-promotion, she smiles a couple of times.
  • The Strategist: Unlike Komine, her plans are actually fairly well thought out. While they don't always hold up in actual combat, she is also smart enough to realize when they may need to try something different during the fighting as conditions change on the battlefield.

Giulano Visconti and Siegfried Von Westernach
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/giuliano_908.jpg
Giulano
Giulano voiced by: Kosuke Toriumi (Japanese), John Gremillion (English)
Siegfried voiced by: Hirofumi Nojima (Japanese), David Wald (English)

  • Bridge Bunnies: Both of them are a rare male pair version.
  • Hunk: Both of them are this, much to Tamaki's delight.
  • The Nicknamer: Giulano refers to the Team in general, and Tamaki in particular, as "kitten". Tamaki responds very well to this.
  • The Tease: Part of Guilano's natural personality but later ordered to do so with Tamaki especially as part of a experiment to get her harmonics to rise.

    Lula Chang
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rulaprince_356.jpg
Voiced by: Toudou Mai (Japanese), Luci Christian (English)

  • The Medic: She does the physical exams on Team Rabbits.
  • Ms. Exposition: She normally provides exposittion in regards to the pilot's health or their harmonics outside of battle.

    Teoria
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/theoria_9730.jpg
Voiced by: Shizuka Itō (Japanese), Maggie Flecknoe (English)

  • Defector from Decadence: She ditched her fellow Wulgaru and takes some of their technology with her to warn humanity of the invasion.
  • Expy: Her design, personality and role in the series is similar to Lacus Clyne from Gundam SEED and Gundam SEED Destiny, And then it's subverted when we find out that she's the protagonist's mother, not his love interest.
  • Forgotten First Meeting: Izuru "remembers" her for some reason, despite his memories having been wiped. It turns out they knew each other prior to the memory wiping, and Teoria says they were close friends.
  • Luke, I Am Your Father: She is the genetic donor to Izuru.
  • Older Than They Look: Despite looking about the same age as the members of Team Rabbits, she is the genetic donor for at least Izuru, implying she's at least in her thirties, but is likely even older.
  • Pink Means Feminine: Her personal Wulgaru unit is pink and white.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: She's a Princess and sister of Jiart, who has been aiding mankind ever since she defected. In episode 20, she demonstrates that she is a fully capable pilot, and will be joining the assault on the Gate.

  • Buxom Beauty Standard: Is an attractive Wrench Wench with a large bust that likely makes it physically impossible for her to fully zip up her jumpsuit,
  • Childhood Friends: With Rin.
  • Cleavage Window: She leaves her cleavage open in her jumpsuit, likely due to her chest being too big for the suit itself.
  • Hard-Drinking Party Girl: Loves to drink whenever off duty.
  • Marshmallow Hell: Gives Izuru this in the form of a hug in the movie.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Even more so than Tamaki. She's tall, pretty, and buxom to the point of her boobs not being able to fit in her mechanic outfit. She literally has to keep her uniform unzipped at all times, her chest is so big. Some have noted her resemblance to Captain Murrue Ramius, another buxom beauty with a similar hairstyle and a mechanic background.
  • Non-Idle Rich: Comes from a rich family but does the mechanic job regardless. Much to her family's dismay.
  • Wrench Wench: She's the head mechanic in charge of taking care of Red Five.

Team Fawn/Fox

    In General
  • A Day in the Limelight: They are the protagonists of episode 25.
  • Composite Character: Not them but their units, which use Black Six as a basis and borrow characteristics of the other Rabbits' units.
    • Anne's Orange Seven combines Black Six's design with Blue One's close-ranged equipment.
    • Yui's Silver Eight combines Black Six's design with Gold Four's sniping equipment.
    • Sei's Green Nine combines Black Six's design with Purple Two's sensory equipment.
    • Chris's Magenta Ten combines Black Six's design with Rose Three's acceleration equipment.
  • One Degree of Separation: They are Ange's classmates.

    Sei Yuzuriha

  • Attention Whore: He likes to be the center of attention, like bragging after hacking the cameras outside the shelter to see the fight outside.
  • Foil: To his senior Control, Kei. While she is The Stoic, he loves to talk.
  • Playful Hacker: He's quite cheerful when suggesting to do it, like wishing to use add himself and the rest of the team to the list of people who will participate in the battle against the Wulgaru.
  • Unaffected by Spice: He ate without issue a dish so spicy that left Chris almost blind just being near it.

  • Deadpan Snarker: Yui won't miss the chance to make a snide remark towards her classmates.
  • Foil: To her senior Gunner, Suruga. He's a goofy flirt, while she's cool-headed and more than a little snarky.

Wulgaru

    In General
  • Aliens Are Bastards: The Wulgaru considers their conflict with the humans as a glorified hunt.
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: The color of any given machine indicates whose squad it belongs to: blue for Jiart, yellow for Lutiel, purple for Klein, green for Radha, orange for Lumes, and red for Dolgana.
  • Puny Earthlings: They consider the humans to be nothing but genes for them to harvest.

    Prince Jiart

  • Alien Prince: Of the Wulgaru, as he is the Emperor's little brother.
  • Blood Knight: He refuses to take part in overall strategy, preferring to focus exclusively on his chosen "prey". He even refuses to retreat despite his only way home about to explode forever because he was just that into his fight with Izuru.
  • Conquering Alien Prince: Aims to help the Wulgaru expand into Earth. Though, he looks at the humans as Worthy Opponents as their prowess in defending themselves was something he didn't anticipate.
  • Disk-One Final Boss: He is the main antagonist for most of the anime, and he ends up being the last enemy Izuru faces in the story. However, at the same time, the ending shows that while the Wulgaru have been bloodied, they are far from broken, and Galkie implies that he's going to be attacking Earth personally soon enough, which puts him into this territory.
  • The Dreaded: All of the members of Team Rabbits and even some Wulgaru are terrified of him. And with good reason, too.
  • Duel Boss: Every time Izuru ends up fighting him, it turns out this way, primarily since none of the other members of Team Rabbits seem to be able to keep up with the two of them.
  • Expy: He's Dragon with an Agenda, he's The Rival, he pilots an Ace Custom mecha, and his sister is working for the opposed faction like Char.
  • Hidden Depths: He's far more than just a brainless brute who knows only how to fight. Jiart has also shown to be extremely skilled at playing politics, and has demonstrated incredible foresight in his plotting.
  • Inconsistent Spelling: Is it Jiart, Ziart, or Thiart?
  • Long-Lost Relative: He is Izuru's biological uncle, though we never see if either of them learn this fact.
  • The Heavy: While King Galkie is the Big Bad, Jiart is the most common commanding Wulgaru presence on the battlefield, squaring off against Izuru and Team Rabbit multiple times.
  • The Sociopath: Like most of the Wulgaru, he trusts his instincts and desires above all else.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: Has white hair and is utterly ruthless in combat
  • Worthy Opponent: Sees all of humanity as this, due to how long they have held out against the Wulgaru invasion, to the point where he insists that the other commanders address them as "humans", the name that they chose for themselves, rather than just as the "inferior species". However, this attitude is especially pronounced towards Izuru, since he is the only person who seems to be able to fight on par with Jiart.

    Lutiel

Voiced by: Yukana (Japanese), Emily Neves (English)

  • The Baroness: Very much understands and enjoys the thrill of Wulgaru's Hunt even when implied the one being hunted is one of their own as shown in episode 18 with Radha clearly being set up.
  • Blood Knight: shown back in Episode 8, she was grinning like the devil as she fought. Shows off her blood lust again in Episode 19.
  • Dark Action Girl: Her combat skills and speed seem superior when fighting against a Team Rabbits member individually. She even manages to fight a few of them at once for a short while.
  • Face Death with Dignity: Takes her soon to be death with great dignity and her only complaint being that it's not beautiful.
  • Go Out with a Smile: She doesn't throw a tantrum at the time of her death, and simply smiles as if in admiration for her opponents being crafty enough to defeat her.
  • Graceful Loser: Right before her machine explodes, she muses that it isn't a very "beautiful" way to die, but "it'll do". Almost becomes a Killed Mid-Sentence moment because she barely finishes her sentence in time before the explosion.
  • Hero Killer: Her personal fleet is responsible for killing at least 2/3s of Team Doberman. She personally kills Patrick, and Randy dies in a suicidal charge to buy Rakesh time to escape.
  • Light Is Not Good: Lutiel's Wulgaru unit and her entire fleet is made of Golden colored units.
  • Rasputinian Death: Hers consisted of Tamaki catching with a rope, followed by Asagi and Ange bombarding her with More Dakka before being fried by a Wave-Motion Gun.
  • The Smurfette Principle: So far, she is the only female commander in the Wulgaru army.
  • Winged Humanoid: Her personal Wulgaru unit is one with wings.

  • Big Bad Wannabe: The first Wulgaru to appear and only really shows any back bone when he is leading the charge against helpless GDF forces before Team Rabbits arrives.
  • Dirty Coward: Runs once the fight starts to turn away from him in most cases.
  • Green and Mean: His forces are colored green and he's one of the more dislikable Wulgaru.
  • He Knows Too Much: When he overhears a secret conversation between Jiart and Lumes, he knows they're going to kill him for it. He's right.
  • Starter Villain: The first of the Wulgaru commanders to appear, and briefly clashes with Team Rabbit before being forced to retreat as they mow through his army.

    Lumes

  • My Master, Right or Wrong: His family has served the royal family for generations and is so loyal that when a member of the family asks him to do something even if it conflicts with what another one says he will do it including hiding the knowledge of Teoria being on Earth from King Galkie at Jiart's request. And in fact, when Teoria gives the order to leave during the battle to protect the Gate, both him and his fleet leave.
  • The Strategist: Came up with a strategy that allowed his forces to land on a GDF planet, hack into their systems and disappear before the Earth forces were the wiser.
  • The Unfought: He was shown to be one of the most crafty and tactical of the Wulgaru leaders but never directly challenges anyone while completing most of the missions he was given. At the end of series he withdraws his forces along with a good chunk of the Wulgaru armada without ever going into battle himself.

    Dolgana

Voiced by: Masanori Machida (Japanese), George Manley (English)

  • Beard of Evil: A full ruthless Wulgaru fighter with a full beard.
  • Blood Knight: Though it's been a long time since he's ever felt like it. That is until the battle to destroy the Gate where he gets into his personal unit.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: He is puzzled by the Earthlings' desire to help each other out, but decides to ignore it since hunting genes is the Wulgaru way of life.
  • Good Scars, Evil Scars: Two of them on his face.
  • Old Soldier: He's said to be the Wulgaru's greatest general, and is older than all the other Wulgaru commanders, with the possible exception of King Galkie.
  • Red Ones Go Faster: His personal Wulgaru unit is fast enough that Ange can't even hit it.
  • Uncertain Doom: The last we see of him is him coughing up blood in the cockpit of his Wulgaru machine before his soldiers drag him away, so he may have survived, or died post-battle from the injuries he sustained fighting Team Rabbit.

    King Galkie

Voiced by: Kiyoyuki Yanada (Japanese), Marty Fleck (English)

  • Big Bad: The leader of the Wulgaru and the main antagonist of the series.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: At least compared to how the other Wulgaru commanders tend to act.
  • The Unfought: He doesn't take part in the final battle of the anime. It also means he's still around to pose a threat to Earth despite their hard earned victory.

    Dioluna
Voiced by: Misaki Kuno (Japanese), Katelyn Barr (English)

  • Ax-Crazy: Easily the most sadistic of her kind shown, as she fights more like a wild animal than a Wulgaru general. Might come with the fact that she's a hybrid.
  • Designer Babies: Grown in a vat as a hybrid of DNA from the Wulgaru royal family.
  • Evil Counterpart: Her artifical origin makes her one to the Rabbits.
  • The Dreaded: Teoria flat out says that she's dangerous and could bring about unspeakable damage to Earth if left alone.
  • Sadist: Completely Ax-Crazy, utterly heartless, foul-mouthed, and enjoys to rip her foes apart.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: She speaks only in Wulgaru tongue, but a sizable chunk of her subtitles have to be censored, and Teoria is too embarrassed to translate her.
  • Slasher Smile: Gives a rather nasty one during her one scene in the trailer.

Alternative Title(s): Ginga Kikoutai Majestic Prince
