Brave Yo-kai are cool, courageous beings who excel at battling, especially physical combat. In-game, they specialize in offensive power and close combat.

"Rawr!"

A hot-blooded lion Yo-Kai that has the power to make the ones he possesses extremely motivated.


  • Competition Freak: He is both this and makes those he inspirits become this as well.
  • Fiery Lion: Blazion is a hot-blooded lion whose mane is made of fire.
  • Fireball Eyeballs: Almost one hundred percent of the time. Anyone he inspirits get these as well.
  • Flaming Hair: His mane is comprised of a burning flame.
  • Fusion Dance: In the sequel, can fuse with Herbiboy to create Carniboy.
  • Gone Horribly Right: When he was summoned to drive Negatibuzz out of Nate's dentist, he made the dentist a bit too hyped up.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: As we learn in episode 122, Blazion was a circus lion in life, who died after saving a child in a burning tent. His death was caused by falling from a light fixture into the flames below.
  • Hot-Blooded: And how. He's capable of passing this to those he possesses.
  • Playing with Fire: In the games he has fire based attacks.
  • Pokémon Speak:
    • Only capable of saying "rawr". Yo-Kai have no problem understanding Blazion's speech, and will translate it for Nate and the viewers.
    • Temporarily stopped in episode 97 during Gracie and USApyon's Detective Agency segment due to Phantom Thief Kopin stealing his mane and by extension, his fiery motivated nature making him talk in a calm and normal manner. This is brought up again in epsiode 122, where Blazion willingly removes his mane to explain his backstory.
  • Scars Are Forever: As a normal circus lion in life, he got a scar on his forehead from bashing his head against his cage to save a child from the burning tent they were in. This scar remained even after becoming a Yo-Kai.

B3-NK1 (Karakuri Benkei)

A mechanical warrior who collects Hero Screws (source of function) from machines and household appliances to level up his naginata. When the Yo-Kai starts stabbing the electronics in Nate's house, he summons Robonyan to fight him, but when B3-NK1 takes Robonyan's screw, things go a little out of control.


  • 20 Bear Asses: His goal is to disable 1,000 machines to collect the screws he needs.
  • Accidental Misnaming: Nate mistakes his name for "Free-Wee-For Everyone". In the original audio, Keita mistakes it for "Benki"note . B3-NK1 is regardlessly unamused.
  • Clockwork Creature: He claims to be a clockwork warrior from another time.
  • Evolving Weapon: Once he collect enough screws, his naginata turns gold and becomes sharper.
  • Killer Robot: To any machine or mechanical Yo-Kai, he's this.
  • Portal Door: Behind the two doors on his body are his medal... and a strange blue vortex.
  • Shock and Awe: Thunder-attribute.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Chinese Food.
  • Your Soul Is Mine!: His naginata pierces machinery and extracts the Hero Screw, the very soul of the machine. If he stabs a mechanic Yo-Kai, an actual soul comes out.

Sergeant Burly (Bully-Taicho, "Captain Bully")

A Yo-Kai obsessed with fitness. He runs his own workout TV program and is the Yo-Kai in charge of the Yo-Kai Watch Blasters.


  • Ascended Extra: Only had a cameo in episode 25 "Jibanyan's Secret", but later had an episode all about him and got featured as the main focus of the second ending theme song.
  • Catchphrase: "Feel the burn!"/"One, two, three, PO!"
  • Dance Battler: His workouts seem to focus greatly on aerobics.
  • Drill Sergeant Nasty: Talks this way in the English version.
  • Fireball Eyeballs: Appears in the beginning cutscene in Yo-kai Watch Blasters and in the trailers.
  • Macho Camp: He was able to turn Whisper into this.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: Is based on Billy Blanks. His exercise routine is even taken directly from a Japanese Tae Bo commercial.
    • This came almost full circle when Billy Blanks' son, Billy Blanks Jr. cosplayed as Sergeant Burly to promote Yo-kai Watch 2. According to him, Jr says that Burly his is favorite as he reminds of his dad. How sweet.
    • According to his actor Brent Pendergrass, his take on the character was inspired from the late R. Lee Ermey.
  • No Indoor Voice: Always shouts.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Durig the events of 4, Natsume and Keisuke begin to fade out of existence because of a time paradox. The thing that caused them to almost not exist? Burly inspiriting Katie and making her overwork herself to death.
  • Shock and Awe: Thunder-attribute.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Hamburgers.
  • Training from Hell: Once inspirited by Sgt. Burly, it's impossible to stop working out until your body is deemed buff enough.

"Rice....and dice!"

A demon slaying warrior who happens to be made of rice.


  • Anthropomorphic Food: He's a living rice ball.
  • Black Comedy Cannibalism: For some reason, his favorite food is rice balls, which he happens to be made of himself.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: Like the name implies, Slicenrice has his sword to do the slicing.
  • Hunter of Monsters: Slicenrice is always looking for oni and other such monsters to slice. This ties in to his ability, which increases his power upon defeating Oni-type Yo-kai.
  • Playing with Fire: His element. This becomes more obvious when he evolves into Flamurice, who is a living grilled rice ball with a sword that has flames for the blade.
  • Punny Name: A play on the term "Slice and Dice."
  • Shout-Out: His design may or may not be based after Omusubiman from "Anpanman".
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Rice Balls (duh!).

Pandle (Buyojinbou)

A small Yo-kai that has the power to make people carelessly forget to do things.


  • Catchphrase: "Gotcha!"
  • Cool Helmet: The big pan that he wears on his head.
  • Loincloth: That and his helmet are the only clothes he wears.
  • Playing with Fire: Fire-attribute.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Rice Balls.
  • Tribal Face Paint: The red markings on his face, along with the rest of the Pandle from around the world.
  • Troll: Some of his tricks include: Leaving a cash register open and unattended, leaving a lion's cage open and unattended, leaving people's backpacks open so that the contents fall out whenever someone bends over, and even pulling down Nate's fly.

Lie-in Heart (Manojishi)

Snartle (Namahage)

A Yo-Kai that acts as the guardian of cross-walks. He strictly enforces a no-jaywalking rule, and is ready to punish anyone who breaks it.


  • An Ice Person: Ice-attribute.
  • Berserk Button: Seeing kids jaywalking.
  • Catchphrase: "Where are the naughty kids at?!"
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Snartle will immediately fight the player, usually defeating them, all because that player didn't wait for the lights to change.
  • Dual Wielding: His weapons of choice are two katanas.
  • Gonk: Not very pleasant to look at, huh?
  • Invisible to Normals: Averted because of how powerful he is, making him a well-known cultural figure.
  • Jaywalking Will Ruin Your Life:
    • Snartle encountered this way is a lot tougher then the ones found in the Tranquility Apartments at Shopper's Row.
    • They also have a scaling depending on your Yo-kai Watch's current Rank, which logically means S-rank Watches ensure the fights are at their hardest.
  • Justice by Other Legal Means: At the height of his new-found popularity, he ends up getting arrested for tax evasion, despite not even knowing what taxes are.
  • Kill Streak: His ability, Sword Hunting, increases his attack when he defeats an opponent.
  • Metal Slime: If not counting jaywalking. You will rarely find him when you upgrade your Yo-kai Watch to S-rank in Tranquility Apartments at Shopper's Row in the first game.
  • Pimp Duds: His makeover gives him a suit, big hat, and even a gold chain necklace.
  • Scare 'Em Straight: He believes it is his duty to scare children into behaving properly.
  • The Makeover: Gets one with the help of Toiletta, and becomes more popular than he ever was, albeit less scary.

A Yo-kai who makes people fail at everything they do.
  • Born Unlucky: He just can't seem to succeed at anything except failure.
  • Catchphrase: "This will be my challenge!"
  • Miles Gloriosus: He often brags at being able to do something right before failing at it.

Sigh-Durr (Achaa)

A Yokai with an apple for a head. People that are inspirited by Sigh-Durr get easily upset when they can't do something correctly.


  • Anthropomorphic Food: Basically looks like a walking, talking apple.
  • Iconic Outfit: Dressed in a Robin Hood-esque outfit, complete with a green tunic, brown gloves and boots, and a bow and arrow. It could be said that Sigh-Durr also bears some resemblance to Link from the Legend of Zelda.
  • Meaningful Name: In English, its name combines 'sigh' (a sound frequently made when someone messes something up) and 'durr' (a sound often associated with morons). Pronounced together, it sounds like 'cider', a beverage made of apples.
    • In Japanese, Achaa sounds like the English word 'archer' and the Japanese word of 'whoops!'
  • William Telling: Based on the story of William Tell, who shot an apple off of his son's head.

Goofball (Damajor)

A 'Merican Yokai that used to be a human baseball player that was afraid of catching the ball.


  • Butt-Monkey: Well, let's see: died while carrying an armful of baseball bats, came back as a Yokai that inspirits people to be scared of catching the ball, can't win a match even after evolving...
  • Living Toy: Looks like a crying, floating baseball with arms.
  • Meaningful Name: A goofball is someone that is silly and prone to messing things up.
    • Damajor: A play on the English word 'major' and the Japanese phrase 'Dama ja!' (means something along the lines of 'It's hopeless!').
  • Prone to Tears: Constantly crying, even when he isn't failing at baseball.

Slugger (Dameja Nain)

Goofball's evolution, reached at level 25. He gains confidence in his ability to play baseball, allowing him to perform better.—-

  • Living Toy: Still looks like an anthropomorphic baseball, only this time he has an actual torso to go with his baseball-head.
  • Meaningful Name: Slugger is a person that hits hard and fast in baseball.
    • 'Damajor Nine/Nain' is a play on the English words 'major' and 'nine', as well as the Japanese phrase 'dama ja nai' (translates to 'it's not hopeless').
  • Multi-Armed and Dangerous: A B-rank Yokai (Goofball is D-rank) with four arms and is much more dangerous than its pre-evolution.
    • Multi-Armed Multitasking: Wields two baseball bats, a baseball glove and a baseball, allowing him to hit, catch and throw all at once!
  • Took a Level in Badass: Goes from meek and incompetent to confident and able.

BBQvil (Nikuyaki)

A 'Merican Yokai that is absolutely obsessed with meat. He inspirits people to be similarly zealous about meat and BBQ.


  • Big Red Devil: Bears a resemblance to the stereotypical devil, with reddish skin and hair shaped like horns. He also wears a black tank-top with a flame pattern across the bottom.
  • Carpet of Virility: Type 2. He has a round, stout body and a small patch of mushroom-shaped chest hair in the middle of his chest.
  • Meaningful Name: He's a devil-like Yokai that really, really likes barbeque.
    • Nikuyaki is 'yakiniku' (grilled meat dishes) reversed.
  • Real Men Eat Meat: LOVES meat and inspirits other people to do the same.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Take a wild guess.

     Mysterious/Bushigi Tribe 

English: A'Boo-shiggy, boo-shiggy! Boogie-woogie! Cling clang! Delirious! Mysterious!
Japanese: Bushigi! Bushigi! Boogie-woogie! Oretachi oohashagii!note 

The eccentric Yo-kai in the Mysterious Tribe look strange and act even stranger. From spilling secrets to changing your television channels, there's no telling what they'll do. In-game, they specializing in Yo-kai Techniques and other forms of sorcery.

Wazzat (Wasurenbou)

A Yo-Kai that was once an ordinary hat until his owner got tired of him and abandoned him. Has the ability to make people forget certain memories by biting onto their heads.


Tattletell (Bakurobaa)

An extremely small Yo-Kai that looks like a tiny old woman with very long arms. She can possess people by latching onto their chins and make them spill their secrets to everyone.


  • Abhorrent Admirer: In the manga, she is this to Jibanyan, which Whisper uses when he gets Iloo's illusion casting stick.
  • Cool Old Lady: Starts off as a rude little jerk that gets a kick out of making Nate suffer, but after being defeated she becomes a valuable ally who is able to get information out of people without them realizing it.
  • Creepily Long Arms: Her arms are longer than her body and main source of locomotion. In the morning she swings through trees like a gibbon.
  • Death Dealer: Retains her skill of throwing cards like knives from her past as a spite.
  • Femme Fatale Spy: In her life she was a spy in youth. Her practice of inspiriting people by grasping their face is derived from seducing information out of hostages by cradling their head in her hands.
  • Fusion Dance: Can fuse with Lafalotta to create Tattlecast.
  • I Was Quite a Looker: Used to be an attractive spy known as Sexy Banban.
  • The Medic:
    • In the games, one of her abilities is to heal allies.
    • This is also her ability in Yo-kai Watch Busters as a Healer.
  • Miniature Senior Citizens: She can fit perfectly on most people/Yo-Kai's chins.
  • Personal Space Invader: She inspirits by latching onto the chins of her targets.
  • Pokémon Speak: Only ever says "Tell-Tell". Except when she's been inspirited by Noway, in which case she also says "No way". She can inspirit herself to plainly give her backstory.
  • The Reveal: What her ability can be used for, which means that she's often called upon to get more stubborn Yo-Kai to tell Nate their stories. When attached to someone who has nothing to reveal in particular, she can tire herself out trying to get something juicy out of them.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Ramen.

Illoo (Maboroushi)

An illusion-casting Yo-Kai surrounded by mist wisps that loves to trick people with his mirages.


  • Bash Brothers: His ability, Brother's Oath, increases his power when paired with others with the same ability, like his brothers Elloo and Alloo.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: His solution to defeating Fidgephant is to create illusions of urinals in the hallway so that the kids waiting in line wiz all over the floor. Thankfully, it's stopped before it can go too far.
  • Jerkass: Very much so in the manga, where he pretends to be Jibanyan's owner Amy accepting him with a hug, only to violently throw him to the ground.
  • Making a Splash: Water-attribute.
  • Master of Illusion: His whole shtick.
  • Mundane Utility: Flavor text states he uses his powers to teach complex concepts in a digestible manner.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Chinese Food in the first game, and Bread.
  • Unusual Eyebrows: His eyebrows resemble clouds, and go around like a halo.

Signibble (Denpaku-Kozo)

"Zap zap!"

A trickster Yo-Kai whose favorite snack is the signals of phones and television. He messes with Nate's TV during a sleepover and regularly hangs out at the electronics store.


  • Abstract Eater: He eats the lightning bolts that represent signal reception and even the bars representing the charge on your phone.
  • Cute Little Fangs
  • Electromagnetic Ghosts: Signibble can cut off all reception on cellphones and make a television change channels by itself, all while invisible to the human eye.
  • Fusion Dance: Fuse Signibble with a GHz Orb to make Signibble evolve into Signiton.
  • Shock and Awe: His element.
  • The Prankster: Appears as this in most of his appearances.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Snacks, and Rice Balls in the first game.
  • Troll: Keeps changing the channel when Nate and friends try to watch some forbidden late-night TV shows, and changes the channel back right when Nate's parents burst into the room.

Mirapo (Ungaikyo)

A mirror Yo-Kai that acts as a portal, and can warp you to other Mirapo in many locations, including the Yo-Kai dimension.


  • Cool Gate: It can take you to most of the important places on the map. In the anime, it warped Nate to the Yo-Kai world.
  • Extra-Dimensional Shortcut: Is useful for players don't want to run from place to place.
  • Fusion Dance: Yo-kai Watch 2 gives Mirapo an evolution, Miradox, which is the result of Mirapo fusing with an Espy.
  • Life Drain: Absorption-attribute.
  • Portal Network:
    • There are Mirapo located all over town that the player can use to quickly travel from place to place.
    • In the sequel, Mirapo's evolution, Miradox, also has a Portal Network, but one that spans into different time periods.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Chinese Food.

D'wanna (Tsuzukanaso)

A monk/priest Yo-Kai that causes people to immediately give up at whatever they're doing. One possesses Katie and makes her quit at everything she does.


  • Catchphrase: "I d'wanna, I d'wanna, I d'wanna, I d'wanna, I d'wanna, I d'wanna, I d'wanna do this!"
  • Everything Is an Instrument: To activate his power, he uses a mallet to hit his head like a cowbell. Fitting, considering he's based off of a tsukumogaminote  that's born from a fish-shaped woodblock Buddhist monks use to keep the time for sutra chants.
  • Fog of Doom: The purple fog that he breathes out is what causes those he possesses to instantly give up.
  • Gave Up Too Soon: Everyone he inspirits does this. This can also be a reference to the Japanese idiom "Three Day Monk", someone who can't stick to their goals or finish what they started, akin to someone quitting monk training after three days because they can't handle it.
  • Lazy Bum: His medal shows him to be incredibly lazy.
  • The Medic: Restoration-attribute.
  • Squishy Wizard: The only thing he seems to be good at is inspiriting. When a Yo-Kai that cancels out his power (like Babblong) appears, then he's in trouble.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Hamburgers.

Duchoo (Kazekamo)

A Yo-Kai that appears to be a large duck/pigeon/goose with a mustache of snot trailing out of his nostrils. Has the ability to make people think they're sick, without really being sick.


Tengu

A well-known and powerful Yo-Kai that creates strong winds with his fan. When Nate encounters Tengu, Whisper kisses up to the Yo-Kai pretending to be best friends with him, much to his annoyance.


  • Anime Hair: Being a tengu, he has a head of long, flowing, white hair that's longer than he is tall.
  • Blow You Away: His powerful leaf fan has the capability of doing this. Tengu used his wind powers on Whisper when he started getting annoying.
  • Eyes Out of Sight: This tengu in particular has his eyes covered by his big white hair.
  • Gag Nose: Natch. Because he is a tengu, his nose stretches a foot in front of his face.
  • Guide Dang It!: To be able to recruit him, you need to find an item called a "Typhoon Fan" and use it in a specific area. While the quest tells you where to use the fan, it doesn't tell you where to get it. note 
  • Tengu: Duh.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Candy.

A troublesome Yo-kai that resemble an Ittan Momen and makes people give fake apologies.


  • Apologizes a Lot: He does it sarcastically. Later he's given an evolution, Bowminos, that is a sincere example, making people apologize for any perceived infraction.
  • Backhanded Apology: Messes with people and then gives one to get on their nerves.
  • Catchphrase: "Sorry! Sorry! I'm soooo sorry!"
  • Chest Insignia: He has the word ittan (一旦), meaning once or for a moment, written on his stomach area.
  • Enslaved Tongue: He and whoever he Inspirits halfheartedly apologizes.
  • Jerkass: Will pull some really jerkish moves on people and then tick them off by sarcastically apologizing.
  • Kill It with Fire: How Nate defeats him in the anime.
  • Paper People: Just like any Ittan-momen, So-Sorree is made made of paper, being flat, and flammable, which Nate and Blazion take advantage of.
  • Shock and Awe: Thunder-attribute.
  • Start X to Stop X: To get So-Sorree to stop, Nate lights the Yo-Kai on fire and then apologizes in a similar, half-hearted fashion.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Curry.
  • Vertebrate with Extra Limbs: Has no legs, but possesses four arms.

  • Foil: To Count Zapaway in Yo-kai Watch 2.
  • I Lied: Makes people trick others by make a bizarre claim and cause others to panic, but then withdraws said statement and admits they were actually joking.

Apelican

A goofy Yo-Kai that went to study America and took a shine to it. Takes the form of a humanoid pelican in a cowboy hat and flag-patterned outfit. Has the ability to turn people into over-the-top American stereotypes by shooting them with his gun, but can shoot to kill should he switch his ammo around.
  • Adaptational Badass: In the video games, Apelican is a Rank C Yo-kai, putting him on the average side of Yo-kai power levels. In the manga he's a silly, but highly competent gunslinger that requires a legendary Yo-Kai to defeat.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: He may be a goofball but he's not afraid to use his gun for violent purposes.
  • Blow You Away: Wind-attribute.
  • Cowboy: Behaves like a stereotypical one.
  • Disco Dan: What his bullets basically turn people into.
  • Eagle Land: Due to his liking of America, he dresses up like a cowboy and occasionally says English phrases, and his favorite food is hamburgers. Ironically, he couldn't fully learn the language.
  • Family-Friendly Firearms: His bullets turn anyone they hit into comedic American stereotypes, complete with goofy sunglasses, tank-tops, disco poses, and sudden clumps of curly chest hair. He however, can switch to actual bullets whenever he wants to.
  • Flight: Due to being a pelican Yo-Kai.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Hamburgers.
  • Wearing a Flag on Your Head: His suit is the flag he's wearing.

Snottle (Hanahojin)

A nose-picking goblin that inspirits others to do the same. He's a constant nuisance to Nate who asserts nose-picking is a private activity, but an even bigger annoyance to Jibanyan, who's inconveniently summoned to deal with him.


  • Catchphrase: "Dig for treasure, snotty pleasure!"
  • Creating Life Is Unforeseen: Parodied; Nate had a major nose-picking habit when he was younger, and inadvertently created hundreds if not thousands of Snottle who all recognize him as their father and wish for him to acknowledge them.
  • Life Drain: Absorption-attribute.
  • Luke, You Are My Father: As a manifestation of a booger Nate picked and flicked, he constantly bothers him because he wants acknowledgement.
  • Nose Nuggets: The anthropomorphic personification of nose-picking, manifested from a flicked booger.
  • Nose Shove: Regularly disrupts actions against him by making people pick their noses, sometimes with whatever their holding.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Snacks.

Fuu 2

     Tough/Gouketsu Tribe

These Yo-kai are the toughest of mind and body. They can be extremely stubborn and bad-to-the-bone. But they also give some of the strongest defense in confrontation. In-game, they have high defenses due to their dense bodies and stubborn spirit.

"Gotta get rough!"

A green lizard-like Yo-Kai that acts and dresses up like a Japanese Delinquent with a pompadour. His ability is to make people, usually students, act as bad as he does. Nate usually calls him when he needs a tough Yo-Kai, and though mean, is always willing to fight on his behalf.


  • The Big Guy: Nate typically summons him when needing a strong physical fighter.
  • The Bully: Acts as one towards Komasan in the latter's debut episode.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: Parodied whenever he directly fights or confronts other Yo-Kai. No matter which side he's on, he'll always fight his enemy to a standstill, resulting in both him and his opponent bonding over each other's strength and becoming friends. Oddly enough all of the yo-kai he's befriended are of the Eerie tribe.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: Earth-attribute.
  • Evil Versus Evil: Well, both aren't really evil per se, but his fight with Peckpocket definitely has this vibe to it.
  • Fatal Flaw: Pride, as shown when confronting a Yo-Kai that makes a hot bath too hot. He hates water, but is unwilling to admit this, and keeps putting off diving into the water to bide time.
  • Gone Horribly Right: In the game, he is needed to make Stephen a hooligan, but goes too far and needs to be stopped.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: With Manjimutt.
  • Malicious Misnaming: Frequently misnames Yo-Kai he's called to fight against, like calling Fidgephant "Fudgepants" and Peckpocket "Pita Pocket".
  • Mean Character, Nice Actor: His voice actor, Brent Pendergrass, is a super nice guy who regularly interacts with fans and even takes voice acting requests.
  • No Ontological Inertia: Averted. Once Roughraff gets a hold of someone, they don't revert until Roughraff is dealt with.
  • Toxic Friend Influence: In a rare case of him befriending a Yo-Kai not being the solution to Nate's problems, Bakuonnarashi was this to Roughraff.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Ramen.
  • Wheel o' Feet: Pretends to drive off on a motorcycle/scooter in this fashion, even revving up the "engine" before running off.
  • Verbal Tic: "Oh!"

A Yo-Kai that is pretty much just a walking wall. It can make those it inspirits say "No way" to everything, making this Yo-Kai very problematic.


  • Catchphrase: "No way!"
  • Dishing Out Dirt: Earth-attribute.
  • Draw Aggro: His Soultimate Move, "No Way Through" raises his Defense and draws in all enemy attacks.
  • No-Sell: He can negate other Yo-Kai's abilities, even making Yo-Kai who only use Pokémon Speak say "no way."
  • Pokémon Speak: Can only say his name unless told to say "no way."
  • Reverse Psychology:
    • As Nate unintentionally found out via telling a possessed Whisper off, Noway can only be defeated if he is told to do the opposite, so Nate befriended him by telling him not to be his friend.
    • Later invoked when Nate summoned him to get Scritchy away from him.
  • Stone Wall: Noway, his evolution Impass, and Impass' Palette Swap Walldin are this, both in physical appearance and stats.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Ramen.

  • Big Fun: He's actually got a soft side, and just wants some friends.
  • Heat Wave: This Yo-kai is responsible for that sweaty, sticky feeling during the hot weather. When he and his buddies get together, a heat wave is sure to occur.
  • Horned Humanoid: The horns on his head are actually dials that can be used to change the setting of his sweat from extreme to "youthful."
  • Playing with Fire: He is a fire element Yo-kai, along with his friends, Blazion, Sproink, and Swelterrier.
  • Power Incontinence: Has the power to create infinite amounts of sweat, but no way to stop it.
  • Sweat Drop: Covered in them.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Curry.

Goldenyan

A golden Robonyan who cares a little too much about shining with perfection. Has the highest defense stat for a Yo-kai.


  • Catchphrase: In Whisper's Dream, Goldenyan replaces Robonyan and thus also says "I'll be back!"
  • Gold-Colored Superiority: The gold gives him great power, as he is a Rank S Yo-kai, and gives him an ego to match.
  • Luck-Based Mission: Goldenyan is one of eight Yo-Kai (one for each tribe) that can only be obtained from the Crank-a-kai.
  • Shock and Awe: Thunder-attribute.
  • Stone Wall: His high defense, along with his Soultimate, Golden Thunpurr, which greatly increases all stats for himself and his teammates, make him very tanky.
  • Super-Toughness: If metal made Robonyan tough, then solid gold makes Goldenyan ten times as tough.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Seafood in the first game, and Chocobars.
  • Vocal Dissonance: Goldenyan has a high pitched effeminate voice in the Japanese version of the anime and games but the English voice is closer to Robonyan's.

A blue kappa Yo-Kai that resides in the rivers of Nate's town. Unlike traditional kappas, Walkappa likes eating pizza, and swimming backstroke. When he was pitted against a real kappa, he came out victorious because of his un-kappa-like traits.


  • Advertised Extra: Despite barely ever appearing in the show, he's still featured in the ending credits.
  • Butt-Monkey: If it weren't for Jibanyan and Whisper having more focus, he would be the most unfortunate character in battles.
  • Kappa: Literally the type of Yo-kai he is.
  • Making a Splash: Has water based attacks.
  • Nice Guy: A very friendly kappa. Unlike most Yo-kai, he wasn't even causing trouble when Nate found him.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: Nate befriending him and acquiring his medal is never shown onscreen, with Whisper not even being aware when Nate acquired the medal.
  • Ridiculously Average Guy: He doesn't have any real interesting secrets to hide, which is how he defeated Tattletell.
  • Surfer Dude: In the English version.
  • Totally Radical: Tends to use words like "dude" and "bogus," and even talks like a surfer in the dub.

  • Enemy Without: Pinkipoo's dark side, Pookivil, is introduced as a purple pallette swap that makes people ManipulativeBastards.
  • Fusion Dance: Fuse Shmoopie with a Love Scepter to make Shmoopie evolve into Pinkipoo.
    • In the sequel, can fuse with Tongus to create Nurse Tongus.
  • Heart Symbol: He is seen holding this and when he evolves into Pinkipoo. His ears are heart shaped.
  • Kawaiiko: Intentional
  • Karma Houdini: He is able to get away with all his misdeeds due to his cuteness.

A cicada who became a Yo-Kai after living out his one-week lifespan. He spends most of his time hibernating underground, and only stays above ground for one week each year, and then has to burrow back down and repeat the cycle.


  • Accessory-Wearing Cartoon Animal: Even with the clothes and sword, Whisper still thought Cadin is just a giant cicada.
  • Blow You Away: Wind-attribute.
  • Cicadian Rhythm: Back when Cadin was a living cicada, his favorite pastime was singing his cicada songs.
  • Heavy Sleeper: If Cadin isn't back underground when his week on the surface is up, he'll become very drowsy and prone to sudden naps.
  • Interface Screw: After mentioning that his life is on a timer when he emerges from the ground, a literal timer appears at the bottom of the screen which the characters can actually see.
  • Not Quite Dead: Once the time is up, Cadin falls down, and Nate believes that this is the end for Cadin. And then Cadin starts snoring and a Snot Bubble come out of his nose.

  • Old Save Bonus: Of a sort. To get him in YW2, you need a copy of the first game, use it to take a picture, save it to your SD card, and hand it over to an NPC that will give you a special Crank-a-Kai coin in order to get him.
  • Shock and Awe: Thunder-attribute.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Chocobars.
  • Voice of the Legion: Buchinyan speaks with both Jibanyan and Whiper's voices simultaneously.

A foxy idol who has sharp insight. She can see through ulterior motives, and anyone she inspirits will also see through others intents.


  • Brutal Honesty: She can see right through people's pretenses or lies and will immediately call out what they really want without shame. In Yo-Kai Watch 3, she calls out Nate's attempts to get her to stop inspiriting Sue-Ellen through battle and persuasion as just attempts to sweep the whole affair under the rug, and when he goes off to get Dandoodle to help, basically says he's just hoping another Yo-kai will rescue him from the problem.
  • Living Lie Detector: Don't bother trying to lie to her; she can see right through everyone.
