The Stick Gang

Debut: Animator vs. Animation IV

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/stickfigure_gang_2.png
The main characters of the series, though they don't appear until the fourth entry. Composing of the Animator's fourth creation and four stick figures from an Internet animation, they are a group of friends who love fighting and adventures, causing them to go to many misadventures.
  • Action Hero: The main characters of a very fight-focused series, with almost every episode featuring at least one fight.
  • Aerith and Bob: Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, and the Second Coming. Justified given how TSC is not a "natural" stick figure by any means, and also Downplayed because he goes by Orange.
  • Affectionate Parody: Red, Blue, Green and Yellow are all direct parodies of the "fighting stick figure" genre of Flash animations (codified by Xiao Xiao) that trended the internet in the early 2000s, seemingly having no life beyond "fighting each other" until the Second Coming came along, with their home and fight area being a simple black and white line drawing of the inside of a two-story building, a very common setting for these shorts.
  • Always Someone Better: The whole group is constantly outdone by Green in things like building competitions, music and pranking. The Second Coming, meanwhile, is better than the four of them combined in fighting; and, as it turns out, even music.
  • Ape Shall Not Kill Ape: They have no problems killing off armies of hostile mobs or other enemies until stick figures are involved, as seen when Yellow stops the Titan Ravager from killing King Orange, with the other stick figures seemingly also being against it. The Second Coming has decided he makes exceptions to those called "The Dark Lord".
  • Awesomeness by Analysis: All five of them have moments of using their surroundings and knowledge to further their goals, such as Yellow realising how to escape the parkour simulation by simply realising command blocks are involved, or Red seeing a netherite block and immediately guessing that - due to being superior to gold - it will make the staff a much stronger weapon.
  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: There are numerous moments in the series proving that, despite their numerous arguments, they all truly care for each other.
  • Back from the Dead: Happens a lot to Red, Blue, Green and Yellow.
    • They are seemingly deleted by the Animator during Animator vs. Animation IV, only to come back when he refreshes the page they came from.
    • They are killed by the Dark Lord during "The Showdown", but they come back when the Second Coming revives them using the Dark Lord's console.
    • Once again, they meet their end during "The King" by falling into King Orange's black hole while trying to throw the staff into the Nether portal. They resurrect less then a minute afterwards, due to the Second Coming managing to undo the black hole's effects.
    • In a more comical example, they all accidentally kill themselves during "TNT Jump", only to respawn at their bed. Additionally, Green is killed twice during PvP while Red purposefully kills himself in "Nether Nap" to regenerate his energy, knowing he'll respawn nearby.
  • Badass Adorable: They are often rather cute with their misadventures and how they can get excited over nothing. They're also amazing fighters who have killed numerous mobs.
  • Badass Normal: Unless they enter a game or the Second Coming unlocks his 11th-Hour Superpower, they have no powers, but they are still extremely good fighters.
  • Bash Brothers: All five of them have enough fighting skills to kick major amounts of ass together as a Badass Crew. Fittingly enough, it's possible Red, Blue, Green and Yellow really are brothers due to seemingly coming from the same website.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: They are usually nice, silly kids that goof out. They can also completely and totally end you if you get on their bad side.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Again, fun-loving stick figures that can beat your ass.
  • Blood Knight: They all have an affinity for fighting, whether it's sparring with each other or watching violent action movies.
  • Breakout Character: The Second Coming was originally just another stick figure of the episode, while his friends were an excuse for him to fight his creator. In their very next appearance, they become the main cast and they stay like this for the entire series.
  • Charles Atlas Superpower: Despite being mere Badass Normals, they have superhuman levels of strength and durability.
  • Chromatic Arrangement: They are orange, red, green, blue and yellow.
  • Colourful Theme Naming: They all have the same name as their respective color. The one exception is the Second Coming, but even he has an Ascended Fan Nickname of Orange.
  • Death Is Cheap: If Red, Yellow, Green or Blue die, they simply respawn in their animation window, but the website might have to be refreshed. Additonally, they can also resurrect using the respawn mechanics in Minecraft, such as beds or crying obsidian. The Dark Lord works around this with his code-erasing virus powers, which would have kept them down for good due to erasing all traces of them, though the Second Comingly manages to bring them back.
  • Divergent Character Evolution: Because of their limited screentime, they don't really have unique personalities in Animator vs. Animation IV, but the following videos give them distinct character traits with Red being an animal lover, Yellow being good at engineering and coding, Blue loving gardening, potion and food-making (and having a bad Nether wart addiction), and Green being the best architect and musician.
  • A Dog Named "Dog": A green stick figure named Green, a red stick figure named Red, a yellow stick figure named Yellow, a blue stick figure named Blue, and an orange stick figure that goes by Orange.
  • Ensemble Cast: The series' main protagonists.
  • Establishing Character Moment: It's not their first appearance, but the first time the Stick Gang gets to use the Minecraft Game Icon, they begin doing things that immediately establish their personality for the rest of the series.
    • The Second Coming simply makes a house for himself, showing his unwillingness to go on adventures and preference to staying home. Additionally, in Animator vs. Animation IV, after defeating Alan's cursor, he goes on to create drawings and befriends them, showcasinge TSC's trait of being the Art Attacker and just simply wanting to have friends.
    • When Green is introduced to the Minecraft Icon, he used it to build a fully functioning windmill showcasing the first ever moment of him being an architect and The Ace. His music abilities would not come until "Note Blocks".
    • When Blue gets his hands on the icon, he uses it to build a farm while cultivating multiple plants from crops to trees, establishing Blue's trait as a gardener. His potion making skills would come later in the episode "Potions".
    • When Yellow grabs the icon, he creates a beacon pyramid later and a piston contraption that changes the beacon's lights, cementing Yellows skills as The Engineer, while coding would be new for him in the episode "Command Blocks".
    • For Red's case, it's an interesting and subtle moment. Most of the monsters the stick figures fight in Animation vs. Minecraft stem from Red spawning them while possessed by Herobrine. When he gets to use the Minecraft icon on his own free will, he spawns rabbits, showcasing he's The Beastmaster and a Friend to All Living Things.
  • Fighter, Mage, Thief:
  • Inexplicably Identical Individuals: For unknown reasons, they look exactly like Purple and King Orange, despite the two not coming from the fighting animation. This would be later explained in "The King" and Animator vs. Animation VI, which shows that the majority of the Internet's stick figures happen to have that specific design, and it's rare for a stick figure to look different.
  • Instant Expert: There are few things they don't immediately master.
  • It's Personal with the Dragon: None of them know anything about King Orange and thus have no personal beef with him besides "the guy who we need to stop". By comparison, they - especially Green - have a more personal relationship with Purple due to him constantly betraying them. Tellingly, they actually have an easier time forgiving King Orange than Purple in 'The King", accepting the former's apology but needing Red's pig to confirm the latter is a friend.
  • Kid Hero: The series implies they are at oldest teenagers: they should be around the same age as Purple, who himself was compared to Gold, and they are clearly supposed to be younger than King Orange, who was old enough to have a son. Word of God claims they are somewhere between 10 and 13.
  • Lovecraft Lite: Of the Digital Abomination variety. They are simple drawings (the Second Coming) and animations (the other guys) that manage to come to life out of nowhere, without anything instigating it, and manage to have as much control over the PC as the Animator himself. Whenever they interact with a video game or website, their mere influence makes characters on them come to life, too. It mixes with Humanoid Abomination and Benevolent Abomination, as they're human-like stick figures and fully heroic.
  • Mean Character, Nice Actor: In the animation they come from, Red, Blue, Yellow and Green fight each other for no apparent reason. But when the animation isn't playing, they are on good terms with each other and are friendly to outsiders.
  • Mysterious Past: Excluding TSC, whose origins we directly see. That said, we know nothing about the pasts of the remaining members "They all came from the same website where they fought". They probably come from the Outernet given they have the same design as its citizens, but it's unknown how they got to a website or what happened to their parents; people they must have had if the "they're from the Outernet" theory is true.
  • One-Man Army: All of them are fully capable of killing armies of hostile mobs by themselves, and get even stronger whenever their friends are backing them up.
  • Palette Swap: Red, Blue, Green and Yellow look exactly the same except for their colors. The Second Coming also serves as this, but to the Chosen One, the Dark Lord and victim.
  • Pop-Cultured Badass: A group of five Badass Normal asskickers, whose experience and skills stem from the many video games they play, such as Super Mario Bros., League of Legends, Pokemon, and especially Minecraft. They also enjoy watching other people play video games and YouTube action videos of other stick figures fighting each other.
  • Primary-Color Champion: Played with. With the exception of Green and the Second Coming (whose colors are secondary), the rest of them have their own respective color from the primary colors Red, Blue and Yellow and they are certainly heroic.
  • Satellite Character: Green, Yellow, Blue and Red were originally one of these, serving no purpose other than giving the Second Coming a reason to battle the Animator. However, they quickly leave the area and get their own personalities.
  • Shout-Out: Green, Blue, Yellow and Red are inspired by all the fighting stick figures that can be found on the internet. The animation they come from is directly inspired by the most popular Xiao Xiao episode with a similar background.
  • Sore Loser: As shown in the Build Battle episodes, "Parkour" and Ultimate Minecart Race, they are very competitive and don't take losing easy. That's probably why Purple's relatively petty revenge plan - beating them in a League of Legends route - is enough for them to treat it like a major thing.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Throughout the AvM Shorts, they gradually get more and more skilled with Minecraft.
    • Throughout the first season, the use of redstone was mainly Yellow's domain. "Redstone Academy" has him teach the other sticks about the nuances of redstone, and once they know all the mechanics, they're skilled enough with it to build contraptions that reflect their preferences.
    • "Note Blocks" has each stick figure manning one instrument for a band, and Second Coming resorting to turning the PC's volume down. "Note Block Battle" has Green one-manning an entire composition with the use of tripwires to reach the blocks that don't fit in his immediate vicinity, and Second Coming crashing the resulting battle with an electric guitar solo.
    • "The Nether" has Green and Blue helpless against a small group of zombie pigmen, having to mount a Ghast in order to turn the tide. "The Piglin War" has Blue able to simultaneously slaughter a zombified Piglin horde and keep a living Piglin hunting squad at bay non-lethally, all on his own.
  • The Redeemer: All of them are good at redeeming their enemies: The Animator, Purple, Purple's village, Purple again, Ethan, the Marios, the Piglins, the Warden, the Yellow Team, the Titan Ravager, Purple again (and for good this time), King Orangenote , Q*bert and Euler's identity.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Even excluding the friendly sparring, there is so much fighting and arguing between these five little guys. Doesn't change the fact they will do anything to keep each other safe.

    The Second Coming / "Orange"

TheSecondComing.exe / "Orange"

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_second_coming_official_render.png
The Hero of the series, he is an orange stick figure created by the Animator. He rebelled against his creator after he deleted his friends, to the point of even defeating him, but the two made peace once the Animator resurrected the Second Coming's friends, the creator and creation becoming True Companions.

The Second Coming possesses unknown connections to the Chosen One: Task Manager states he is "the Chosen One's Return", though Animator vs. Animation V contradicts it by revealing the Chosen One is alive and well. For what it's worth, he's rarely even referred to by his name: Word of God tends to call him "Orange", an Ascended Fan Nickname that eventually crossed to the series itselfnote .

Not to be confused with the other, much more evil Orange.
  • 11th-Hour Superpower: In "The Showdown". After seeing his friends killed and receiving a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown from the Dark Lord, he awakens his latent superpowers which are similar to the Chosen One's, although his are green and actually strong enough to finish off the Dark Lord once and for all.
  • Aesop Amnesia: Usually very much averted due to being the Only Sane Man. However, at the end of "Lucky Blocks", he cheerfuly pulls out green Lucky Blocks after everyone has just defeated the Lucky Block Orb, apparently forgotting the events of the episode mere seconds after it's done.
  • Almighty Janitor: The strongest known entity in the Outernet that's also a nice kid that usually spends time playing with his friends.
  • Always a Bigger Fish: When his powers are awakened, he's this to both the Chosen One and the Dark Lord. Whereas it took the Chosen One an entire video to take down a single ViraBot and the Dark Lord manages to tank through both TCO and the Animator's attacks, the Second Coming destroys the entire ViraBot army in one fell swoop and forces the Dark Lord to run for his life, only to be annihilated anyway. Oh, and he can use his powers on technology to revive his deleted friends.
  • Always Someone Better: "Note Block Battle" reveals he's the best musician of the Stick Gang, even more than Green himself. He just doesn't bother using it. He's also a far better fighter than any of them.
  • Arch-Enemy: Subverted, interestingly enough. Despite some of his friends having some kind of unique enemy (The Animator and the Chosen One [formerly], Green and Purple [also formerly], Red and his not-enemy Herobrine, Blue and the Witch), The Hero of the series himself has no truly personal, "greatest" enemy. While he has some sort of connections with the series' three biggest villains - The Dark Lord, King Orange and the Boss - none of them really hit the bill. The Dark Lord could've become this, given how he killed the Fighting Stick Figures and was the most dangerous threat so far, but he is taken care of so quickly - and the Second Coming knows him so little - that not even he fits. It also doesn't help he is presented as the Chosen One's archenemy.
  • Art Attacker: The Second Coming is a very resourceful stick figure, able to use just a pencil to summon various weapons and allies against such as the likes of Alan Becker, ViraBot, and the Mercenaries.
  • Artifact Name: His name, "The Second Coming", was originally meant to indicate that he was some kind of reincarnation of the Chosen One. There's even a moment in Animator vs Animation IV where he glitches into the Chosen One's appearance for a split second. However, in Animator vs. Animation V, we learn that the Chosen One was alive all along and he and the Second Coming doesn't seem to know each other nor do they seem to be related in any way, meaning that the name of the Second Coming has lost its meaning. Fittingly enough, he's mostly known as Orange npw.
  • Ascended Fanboy: Very quickly goes from being awestruck by Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow's fighting, then to being close friends, then to being the strongest of the group and The Leader, then his four friends are the fans and watch his adventures in Pokémon.
  • Asskicking Leads to Leadership: It's implied he's the leader of the Stick Gang due to being the single best fighter out of them all.
  • Ax-Crazy: Briefly turns into this in the "Pop-Ups" Actual Short, where he literally goes rabid due to all the pop-ups swarming the PC: He's seen growling and attacks Blue and Yellow due to mistaking them for pop-ups in his rage.
  • Badass and Child Duo: Subverted. The Chosen One seemingly tried to form one with the Second Coming in Animator vs. Animation VI to battle the Mercenaries, but it quickly becomes clear the "duo" was just TCO watching as TSC curb-stomps the mercs, not realising the latter can't naturally access his superpowers. The Second Coming is forced to defend the Chosen One using other means, which ultimately fails.
  • Badass Boast: "You ended my friends. Now I will end you."
  • Badass Normal: He's much like victim rather than the Chosen One. He doesn't usually have any special powers, only fighting Alan by physical punches, kicks, and whatever jury rigged weapons and tools he can create (like a laser pistol) or use (using the pencil tool to create drawings to wreck the animation interface).
  • The Beastmaster: Shows shades of this in ''Wanted", as he draws several animals to aid him in battle.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Despite being the youngest of the Stick Gang, it's clear he views the others - especially Red - as people he needs to protect, and will not take it nicely if they are in danger.
  • Big Damn Heroes:
    • In "The End", he, Yellow, Red and a dozen Villagers save Green and Blue from falling to their deaths.
    • In Animation vs. League of Legends, he enters the battlefield just when Purple is about to win the game, distracting the latter by attacking his base long enough for a sequence of events that result in the Stick Gang's victory.
    • In "The Ultimate Weapon", he arrives to fight King Orange just as he launches his black hole.
  • Big Little Brother: Not in height, but behavior. He's by all means the youngest of the Stick Gang, the others already existing by the time the Animator drew him. That said, you cannot be blamed for thinking he's the oldest with how they act.
  • Cain and Abel: The Animator's creations can be seen as brothers due to sharing the same creator, and the Second Coming and the Dark Lord try to kill each other upon meeting. The former might have succeeded.
  • The Cameo: He makes a cameo as a structure in YouTube's 1 trillion view milestone for Minecraft content due to the popularity of the Animation vs. Minecraft video.
  • Character Development: After the Stick Gang's incident with the different worlds explored through the Nether Portals in Season 1, the Second Coming wanted nothing more than to avoid leaving Alan's PC at any cost and was heavily disappointed when Blue's quest for nether wart forced him and the others to leave home once again to find him. In "Lush Caves", however, he realizes that if he never left Alan's PC, he would've never discovered the amazing worlds that existed outside and became more willing to explore.
  • The Chosen One: Alan's orange stick figure is named "The Second Coming", but unlike the Chosen One, we don’t know where the name came from - Alan never even turned him into a named symbol. He also fits the role of hero much more cleanly than The Chosen One, being a Friend to All Living Things with a Superpowered Good Side, an ally to Alan, and The Leader of his group of friends; and he’s been on multiple adventures to save his friends and the internet, even singlehandedly defeating the Dark Lord.
  • Contrasting Sequel Main Character: Unlike his animated predecessors, the Second Coming became on good terms with Alan and is a permanent character in the series.
  • Curb Stomp Cushion: His Super Mode delivers a massive and completely unfair beatdown on the Dark Lord, though the red stick figure got one good hit in.
  • Defence Mechanism Superpower: It's implied that the powers the Second Coming unleashed near the end of "The Showdown" will only activate under dire circumstances, as they vanish once the danger has passed and the Second Coming can't summon them at will.
  • Determinator: In IV when Alan attempts to end TSC using task manager: "This action cannot be completed because the program is too resistant."
  • Did We Just Have Tea with Cthulhu?: He befriends the Warden in its titular episode.
  • Digital Abomination: Even by stick figure standards, the Second Coming is... off. He comes into existence by himself with no invitationnote , knows that there is a world outside the PC unlike everyone else (though other characters do eventually recognize there's someone on the other side of the computer screen, the Second Coming is the first one to acknowledge this, and he knew it since creation), is seemingly unkillable despite being a mere Badass Normal, has some weird connections to the Chosen One, and possesses an extremely powerful Super Mode that gives him amnesia each time he uses it. A Freeze-Frame Bonus from AvA V makes him even weirder, as the "StickData" text that appears when the Animator enters the Outernet gives him the unusual name "orj-ver.2ndComing", while everyone has shortened versions of their name (excluding Red, who's name is already very short).
  • Distressed Dude: Has to be saved by Red from King Orange in "Monster School". He's also arrested in VI, with the Fighting Stick Figures trying to save him.
  • The Dreaded: Anyone who knows of his Super Mode quickly knows to not screw with him: The Dark Lord is send running in fear, the Chosen One is shocked upon seeing it and meekly deems himself weaker with a Pose of Supplication, while victim and the Mercenaries can do nothing but look at a recording of his Curb-Stomp Battle against the Dark Lord in fear before putting him in a maximum security cage. The Second Coming's body language implies he's afraid of himself. The only exception to this are the ViraBots, who don't live long enough to learn their lesson.
  • Early Installment Character-Design Difference: The Second Coming had slightly larger proportions in his debut in IV, especially when standing next to the Fighting Stick Figures in which he was shown to be taller than them. He gradually got shrunk down to the point he now stands at the same height as the rest of his friends, with his body proportions scaled down but his head staying about the same size.
  • Empowered Badass Normal: He is revealed to have powers in "The Showdown". Though the fact that it took a Near-Villain Victory and the loss of his friends to trigger them, plus ending with a Post-Victory Collapse, indicate that they're not as easily used as they are for the Chosen One himself.
  • Foil:
    • To King Orange. Both are orange stick figures who serve as the leaders of their respective groups, but while the Second Coming cares about his group and considers them as his friends, King Orange seems to only really care about himself and treats Purple and the piglins as expendable lackeys, even killing one of them for simply reporting bad news. It is eventually revealed that King Orange does have others he cared about very deeply, but turned evil after their death, while the Second Coming has the sense to remain on the side of good when his friends are (temporarily) killed. While the Second Coming did try to destroy Alan's PC when the latter (temporarily) deletes his friends, Alan is framed as the "evil" force in that story. In one way, King Orange is essentially who the Second Coming could've been if Alan never resurrected his friends and he went off the deep end.
    • To victim. Both are Badass Normals who use the environment around them to make weapons, and were focused on the Animator himself rather than destroying everything around them, on top of having four friends (victim's clones, the Fighting Stick Figures). But while the Second Coming befriended the Animator and is a full-on hero, victim remained evil and bitter, seeking revenge almost two decades later.
  • Forgot Flanders Could Do That: In their debut, the Second Coming displays the ability to spontaneously create text when the Animator boxes them in. This trait was generally left to be forgotten as the series favored a dialogue-less Silence Is Golden approach, excluding a brief moment at the beginning of V, but "Music Lesson" remembers Second Coming's text creation ability when he attempts to sing with Green.
  • Good Is Not Soft: He is mostly a Nice Guy willing to forgive his opponents despite his Jerk with a Heart of Gold tendencies, but he is not afraid to fight or even kill his opponents if they cross him. Herobrine, YouTube, dozens upon dozens of hostile mobs and the Dark Lord all learned this the hard way.
  • Healing Factor: One of his secret superpowers is the ability to instantly heal his own injuries.
  • Heroic Second Wind: In tandem with 11th-Hour Superpower; not only does he gain powers like the Dark Lord and the Chosen One, his are actually powerful enough to finish off the Dark Lord completely.
  • Hero-Worshipper: First to the Fighting Stick Figures before becoming an Ascended Fanboy, and then to the Chosen One after he defeated ViraBot.
  • Hidden Depths: He's a really good artist—and in the end, he's willing to teach the Animator what he knows.
  • Inexplicably Awesome: His name and title suggest he's somehow a remnant of the Chosen One, returned three years and a whole new computer later. Then it turns out The Chosen One was still alive the whole time doing his own thing on the internet. This makes it even more inexplicable that he has the name and title, along with latent powers, especially since he wasn't named or empowered deliberately like the Chosen One or the Dark Lord. As far as anyone can tell, he's just a random half-finished doodle that developed an identity out of nowhere and somehow possesses the strongest power in all of cyberspace.
  • Horrifying the Horror: His Super Mode left the Dark Lord scared shitless and running for his life.
  • It's Personal:
    • Had a true hatred of the Animator once he killed off the Fighting Stick Figures. He moves past this quickly.
    • It's not outright shown, but it's quite clear the Second Coming did not take it nicely that the Dark Lord killed the Fighting Stick Figures.
  • The Leader: Of his group of friends. That being said, they can do lots of cool things without him.
  • Light Is Good: He's The Hero of the series and his color is a lighter shade of orange than King Orange's.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Though (at first) lacking explicit superpowers like the Chosen One, he is much faster and stronger than victim was, capable of crazy acrobatics and breaking interface elements with strength alone.
  • Like Parent, Like Child: He has his creator's creativity and drawing skills.
  • MacGyvering: This seems to be his key skill among his friends besides being an artist. He built a functioning ray gun out of Flash's tool icons, and figured out instantly how to make armor and weapons in Minecraft.
  • Meaningful Name: Called "The Second Coming" and "The Chosen One's Return" by the task manager in his debut episode. His handiness with tools and random objects also evokes that of victim's, so he could also be considered a "second coming" of him. Pulls out some similar powers to the Chosen One to win the fight against the Dark Lord in "The Showdown".
  • Messianic Archetype: The Animator's creation/"son", a kindhearted figure with True Companions that influences villains to change and saves the world from the local Satanic Archetype, but not before "dying" and pulling a Crucified Hero Shot. Oh, and his name is literally The Second Coming.
  • Non-Indicative Name: A rare case of overlap with Meaningful Name above; with the original Chosen One revealed to have survived the events of III in V, the Second Coming's name and status as "The Chosen One's Return" is very much not literal, despite the origins of his character in IV. Nonetheless, he has managed to inherit the legacy of both of Alan's previous stick figures debuting in I and II, only with far greater power behind both their defining traits, namely victim's ingenuity and Chosen One's Flying Brick powers.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Downplayed as other characters share his design, but as he is the only member of the Stick Gang to have a unique design, the Second Coming stands out among his friends. Compared to the other sticks, he has a bigger and more roughly drawn head, no feet, slightly smaller proportions, and his head is hollow. Lampshaded in "Basketball", where Blue turns his head into a basketball hoop (revealed to be All Just a Dream), and "Color Correction", where Yellow fills Second Coming's head with color, weighing his head down.
  • No-Sell: The first and most consistently obvious indication that there's more to him than just an orange stick figure is that he will not be deleted. He resists the Animator trying to end his task while his friends instantly vanished, and while the Dark Lord's energy blade erased his friends and clearly hurts him, no matter how many times he's slashed and stabbed, he doesn't fade away.
  • Only Sane Man: Tends to be towards this in the newer animations.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: The Second Coming usually shows a lot of emotions no matter what: even when fighting, you can usually tell if he's enjoying a friendly spar or enraged at whoever he is fighting. This makes his Super Mode all the more weird and unnerving, as he displays zero emotion while giving a total Curb-Stomp Battle against the Dark Lord.
  • Outside-Context Problem: Not once has anyone witnessed powers as great as the Second Coming's Super Mode, and since only the Chosen One was around to witness them (with TSC gaining amnesia after he's done using them), nobody knows of their existence or how to deal around them. Even the Second Coming doesn't know his own powers due to the aforementioned amnesia, and is as shocked as everyone else when he learns what he can do.
  • The Pen Is Mightier: Befitting his skills as both a fighter and an artist, he uses a digital pencil that can draw up any weapon or an ally that can come to life in order to assist the Chosen One, even creating them to help the Animator with drawings.
  • The Power of Creation: In the AvA animations, their power tends to relate to their utilization of tools create: wielding a pencil and using related animation implements to create actual weapons or spawn beasts. This is in contrast to the Chosen One's superpowers and the Fighting Stick Figures' martial arts, and serves as symbolism for how Second Coming is on friendlier terms the artistically-oriented Animator than the other stick figures.
  • Red Baron: The Chosen One's Return.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The calm, sensible and sane Blue Oni to Red's energetic and impulsive Red Oni.
  • Reincarnation: Implied to be one of the Chosen One, as Task Manager calls it "The Chosen One's return". Subverted when the Chosen One returns in AvA V.
  • Retcon: He was originally meant to be a reincarnation of the Chosen One, but Animator vs. Animation V has the Chosen One come back.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge:
    • He goes on like this when the Animator ends his friends by leaving insulting comments on the animator's Facebook posts of his friends.
    • He goes on a brief one against the Dark Lord in Animator vs. Animation V after seeing his friends killed, gaining 11th-Hour Superpowers in the process.
  • Second Coming: Invoked in name, but not played straight because the Chosen One is alive and well and not the same person as TSC.
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: If one would consider the Animator-made stick figures siblings, then the Second Coming serves one towards the Chosen One and victim.
    • The Chosen One and the Second Coming are the most important of the Animator's creations who had it personal with him, but ultimately befriended their creator. But whereas the Chosen One started out evil, is mostly a brute and is superpowered, the Second Coming was always good and is a creative Badass Normal. Most of the time, anyway.
    • victim: Both are the Badass Normals of the family who use the environment around them to make weapons, and were focused on the Animator himself rather than destroying everything around them, on top of having four friends (victim's clones, the Fighting Stick Figures). But while the Second Coming befriended the Animator and is a full-on hero, victim remained evil and bitter, seeking revenge almost two decades later.
  • Sleepyhead: TSC has had moments where he'd have trouble sleeping due to his friends' shenanigans like playing heavy music or other times where he'd have trouble staying awake whenever his friends are building in the building competitions.
  • Status Quo Is God: Sure, he's got his own powers like the Chosen One and the Dark Lord, but he's one of the main characters, so how do you make sure he isn't overpowered for the rest of the series? Make him forget that he has powers, of course!
  • Supporting Protagonist: Downplayed. While still The Hero, some of the AvM Shorts episodes have him take a backseat, allowing the Fighting Stick Figures to have the spotlight.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: It's implied he sometimes feels like this. Not like it stops him from caring about the Stick Gang.
  • Trauma-Induced Amnesia: Sure, he's got his own powers like the Chosen One and the Dark Lord, but unlike the former two, he retains no memory of his powers, having awakened them in a near-death experience and the death of his friends. He only learns of this when he sees Chosen One's memory of it, with his body language implying he's terrified of himself and what he can do.
  • Turned Against Their Masters: It's a living drawing that initially wants his creator dead for killing his friends. When the animator revives The Second Coming's friends, TSC gets over it.
  • Turns Red:
    • When he loses his temper in IV, he blinks in and out with the Chosen One's appearance. This never happens again.
    • In The Showdown, he gains super powers in order to defeat the Dark Lord, after the Dark Lord killed all his friends and beat him to a pulp. Fittingly enough, he has green particles flowing around him to show how abnormal and enraged he is.
  • Vibrant Orange: He's orange in color and like his friends, he's incredibly enthusiastic and exciteful about many things as well as being sociable and full of tenacity.
  • World's Strongest Man: His Super Mode makes him the strongest in the entire AvA series, no contest about it.
  • You Can Barely Stand: Tried to fight back against the Dark Lord even after being stabbed by his blade, which made him unable to even stand up. He does this again against King Orange, though he does much better.

    Green

StickFigureGreen

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/green_render_upgraded.png
One of the four Fighting Stick Figures from the SticksFight website, and the Second Coming's closest friend. He's very good at building and music, ocassionally has Butt-Monkey tendencies, and has a troubled relationship with Purple that is finally settled in "Note Block Universe".
  • The Ace: His defining character trait as of vs. Minecraft. Not only is Green a skilled artist and musician, but he's also one of the best fighters of the gangnote  and his Redstone knowledge is on par with Yellow's. Hell, he once even made a better robot than Yellow's, causing the latter stick figure to collapse in shame. He's also shown to be incredibly good at dodging. That said, there are just a few fields that he's less skilled at than his peers, which would make him closer to a Jack of All Trades.
  • Always Someone Better: Often presented as this to the other stick figures to make it clear he's The Ace. He's then on the receiving end of this in AvM Shorts Season 2, where TSC is proven to be an even better musician then he is.
  • Arch-Enemy: Used to have this relationship with Purple, which was best showcased in Season 3 of the AvM Shorts, where Green's character arc revolves around tracking down Purple after he once again betrays the Stick Gang, at first being simply enraged at him, but eventually calming down and just trying to find out why is he doing all this. Upon learning of Purple's Dark and Troubled Past, he forgives him and gives him another chance, resulting in Purple finally stopping the Heel–Face Revolving Door by choosing to stay on the good side.
  • Best Friend:
    • He’s probably the closest friend to Second Coming. In Animator vs. Animation IV, he is the first to greet and welcome Second Coming then runs to hug him before he disappeared as the last stick figure, and he gives him a friendly hug in the epilogue before they have a sparing match. In vs. Minecraft, in addition to being the second stick figure to interact with the Minecraft block, he also personally helps to pull Second Coming away from being killed despite his own injuries and near defeat at the hands of a possessed Red. In vs. YouTube, he helps Second Coming defeat YouTube itself. In the SkyBlock arc of the AvM shorts, he’s also the one who misses Second Coming the most. Right before reuniting with him in The Dolphin Kingdom video, Green makes it known to the others that he misses him as he is looking at a picture of them all. And as soon as they do get back together, he’s the first to hug Second Coming. Needless to say, while the group as a whole is close, Green is extremely close to Second Coming.
    • Becomes this to Purple after his final Heel–Face Turn, having a close relationship with him compared to the other stick figure. Green's even seen hugging him in "Piggie Love" while celebrating the pig's marriage.
  • Big Damn Heroes: In "The Ultimate Weapon", he crashes into King Orange's house to stop Blue and Yellow from falling to the dark side by revealing the king is an Omnicidal Maniac.
  • Break the Haughty: Done to him in several episodes, such as "Bob Is Always There" or "The Prank". It never stays like that for long, though.
  • Butt-Monkey: Despite being The Ace, he's this in the An Actual Short series. He keeps getting beat up by Bob in his two episodes, is pecked by a paper crane in "Enchanted Origami", crashes into a tree in "Carrot on a Stick", gets slammed by Blue's cauldron in "Bottle Flip", gets literally verbally assaulted by Second Coming in "Music Lesson", shot by Yellow in "Gunslinger", is roasted alive in "Pork", gets eaten by the chest "It's Alive!", so on and so forth. This has gotten to a point where Green starts training himself to avoid more punishment, as shown when he is able to casually avoid Red's cake pranks and deflect them back at his friend. He even once protected himself with barrier blocks while sleeping.
  • Construction Is Awesome: This is Green's expertise in Minecraft as he is one the best architects out of all his friends winning in the building competitions multiple times.
  • Deuteragonist: Of vs. YouTube. He's the one who defeats YouTube with the Second Coming's help, by uploading himself as a video so that the website can't punch him and pushing it apart from the inside.
  • The Dog Bites Back: After being treated as Bob's punching bag for who knows how long, he throws the animation in a pit and closes it, and leaves him there for what's implied to be years.
  • Hidden Depths: A master of music surprisingly. He takes to noteblocks like a fish to water. After arriving in "Note Block Universe", he eventually learns to "speak" in Note Block sounds.
  • The Lancer: To the Second Coming, being both his Best Friend and the first (and sometimes only) person to back him up, such as in vs. YouTube.
  • Lancer vs. Dragon: Green's character arc in Season 3 revolves around Purple, The Dragon of King Orange, and trying to find out what his motivations are. As a result, they have the most personal relationship and get into a brief fight in "Parkour".
  • Lead Singer Plays Lead Guitar: Being the expert musician, he has managed to attain the ability to sing superbly from his adventures in the Note Block Universe as well as being the one to lead his friends as a music band and his amazing skills with a guitar.
  • Neck Lift: Does this to Bob before throwing him down a pit.
  • Nonchalant Dodge: In the episode "The Prank", Green is able to casually evade the many cakes Red attempts to throw at him as well as anticipating when Red is about to prank him.
  • The Paranoiac: Turns into this in "The Prank", as a result of Red's constant attempts to prank him. When Red takes him on a picnic, Green is constantly worried that something will pop out to prank him.
  • Rod And Reel Repurposed: While all five sticks are experienced with using the fishing rod for maneuvering and combat, Green is notable for using it the most by a large margin to the point of it being his weapon of choice.
  • Running Gag: Almost every time he wins a build contest, someone tries to throw TNT at it. He's gotten used to it by Season 2.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: In sharp contrast to his more personal situation with Purple, Green has a very comical - and arguably even more intense than Purple's - rivarly with the Second Coming's drawing, Bob, who keeps beating him up for no reason. Green eventually snaps and throws him down into a pit, where Bob is stuck for several years.
  • Suddenly Voiced: Green learns to "speak" in Note Block sounds after being pressured by some Villagers in "Note Block Universe". Downplayed in that it's not really speech but still a form of audible communication.
  • Throwing Your Sword Always Works: In vs. Minecraft.
  • Took a Level in Badass: When he first debuted in Animator vs. Animation IV, he was the one whose ass got kicked the most. In later videos, he's shown to be the most skilled out of the stick figures, even surprassing Yellow's engineer skills once. Even Alan Becker himself states that while he used to suck, he's now the second strongest of the Stick Gang, besides only the Second Coming himself.

    Blue

StickFigureBlue

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/stickfigurebluehd.png
One of the sticks from the SticksFight website. Compared to his friends, he's shown to enjoy gardening, alchemy and cooking. He also prefers using a bow over swordfighting, and is Yellow's Best Friend. He's obsessed with eating nether wart.
  • 100% Heroism Rating: Like Yellow, he quickly becomes beloved by the Titan Ravager Village after stopping the Titan Ravager's rampage. He becomes even more popular after stopping the Raid.
  • A Day in the Limelight: He gets the spotlight in the promotional plugs Blue's New Superpower and Animation vs. Trash where he has the ability to cast from money.
  • Alchemy Is Magic:
    • "Potions" has him discover and subsequently experiment with Minecraft's brewing mechanics.
    • In PvP, he's shown brewing potions of invisibility to give himself and Red an edge in the fight.
    • Becomes a true master by "The Witch", making incredibly complex transformation potions just as well as the titular witch.
  • And I Must Scream: In "The Witch", the titular character traps him in a white void where he's constantly taunted by his nether wart obssession while secretly helping her without even being aware of it.
  • Arch-Enemy: Downplayed, but somewhat has one in the Witch, his Evil Counterpart. They're both nether wart-connected potion users, she is the antagonist of one of the Blue-centric episodes, more or less serves as The Rival, and Blue ultimately takes on her traits after her defeat (recreating her Shapeshifting, Portal and Awakening potions, while outright becoming "A New Witch" in the Actual Short of the same name). Additionally, the Witch tried to trap Blue in a Fate Worse than Death, which is far worse than what most of his enemies do.
  • Badass Pacifist: While Blue is willing to get his hands dirty, but it's shown several times he's willing to go the less-brutal way if he has the option to. He tries to play peacemaker between TSC and Green in "PvP", he's trying to befriend the Piglins instead of attacking him, and the In Real Time release of AvM Season 3 has him trying to discuss things with his Piglin Brute before resulting to a very brief fight where he's more focused on running away then defeating the Piglin.
  • Best Friend: Of Yellow. While they were shown to be close since as early as Season 1 of the AvM Shorts, but Season 3 really hammers it down by having them be by each other's side throughout the majority of the season.
  • Big Damn Heroes:
    • In "Potions", he manages to distract the pig away from the Second Coming by challenging it to a fight.
    • In "The Witch", he saves his friends just as the Witch is about to kill Green with an axe.
    • In "The Raid", he saves the Musketeers from being killed by the Evoker. He, Yellow and the Titan Ravager later proceed to make a Dynamic Entry to the Nether, thus taking the staff from King Orange on accident.
    • He, Yellow, Skellington and the Ravager try to pull a moment like this in "The King" halfway through King Orange's fight with Herobrine. To say it ends badly is an understatement, as the king No Sells it while the Ravager and Skellington both die.
  • Bizarre Taste in Food: Blue really likes eating nether wart, which isn't normally edible in Minecraft. He's seemingly the only person to enjoy it.
  • Blue Is Heroic: He's blue in color and is heroic member of the main cast.
  • Caring Gardener: His first impulse with the Minecraft Game Icon is to grow a garden, and he's introduced lovingly tending his garden in "Potions". When Red's pig goes after his plants, he's visibly upset.
  • Cast from Money: In the videos for #TeamTrees and #TeamSeas, the effects of dollar donations are represented by Blue's superpowers, which work like this. Throw a bill on empty ground, grow a tree. Throw a bill on oceanic trash, cause it to vanish. Although in reality, his superpowers happen in TSC's dreams.
  • Character Development: If "The Chef" is any indication, while he still enjoys nether wart, he's not as crazy about it as he was before. The only time his previous obsession comes up in that episode is when he tops his pizza with nether wart, and even then he easily resists eating it himself as it's needed for a trade.
  • Chef of Iron: Is shown to be the best cook of the group (yes, including recipes that don't include nether wart), and is as capable in a fight as any of his friends.
  • Chekhov's Skill: Blue smacking himself in the face with his freshly-grown tree is the key to defeating a possessed Red at the end of vs. Minecraft.
  • Does Not Like Spam: In contrast to his favorite food, nether wart, Blue has a disliking to warped fungi upon his discovery of the new and improved Nether filled with new biomes. This is noted when the Piglin Child, who Blue protects, offers some warped fungi to Blue which leads him to hide it away.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Blue is basically a nether wart addict ever since he first tasted them in "Potions", being shown eating them very often.
    • Taken to its extreme in Season 3, where the entire season starts with Blue losing his crap at lacking nether wart and gunning to the Nether to get some, causing a massive Butterfly Effect that results in King Orange almost succeeding in destroying the entirety of Minecraft.
      • The Witch and King Orange are both aware of this and use it to their advantage throughout the season: The former turns him into a piston as part of an automatic nether wart far, relying on him to automatically lunge after it and break it. His body language indicates that he doesn't even realize the Forced Transformation at first, and not being able to eat the nether wart growing in front of him is basically his own personal hell. Meanwhile, when Blue is initially hesitant to join the latter when offered, due to remembering how that went with Purple, he immediately changes his mind when he sees his offered throne is surrounded by nether wart; emphasized by the slow manner with which he puts on the crown and walks toward the throne while reaching out towards it, almost like he's hypnotized, only snapping out of it when Green breaks in to explain King Orange's true intentions.
    • In "Carrot on a Stick", Yellow uses Blue's obsession with nether wart to win the race, riding his back and luring him with nether wart on a stick. Later on in "Color Confusion", it's shown Blue's obsession goes so far he's drawing nether wart.
    • In "The Chef", when everyone is making pizza, Blue tops his with nether wart.
  • Good Counterpart: To the Witch, both being fighters that are skilled in both potions and swordfighting while being connected to nether wart. But while Blue is a good guy who often saves people, the Witch is a selfish villain that's out for herself.
  • I Can't Believe It's Not Heroin!: While not exactly high after it, his "addiction" to nether wart rather seems like a heroin addiction. This makes his friends unfortunately look like enablers, as while they are aware and disgusted by it, they never directly try to stop him from consuming more.
  • Improbable Aiming Skills: In the climax of vs. Minecraft, a well-timed arrow tossed at the Minecraft Game Icon saves it from getting grabbed by the Herobrine-haunted Red.
  • Long-Range Fighter: In contrast with the rest of the team, he prefers bows and crossbows in combat. Fittingly, the Second Coming equips Blue with a pair of pistols in Animator vs. Animation VI during their playfight against the Animator.
  • Master Archer: He often wields a bow in the Minecraft episodes. Also, in vs. League of Legends, he becomes the Rogue of the team, bow and all.
  • Obsessed with Food: His second character trait after Caring Gardener: he's typically associated with food. He prepares a cake in "The Nether", the videos for #TeamTrees and #TeamSeas are about him running food stands, and in "The Piglin War" his first reaction to seeing the new Nether is trying to eat the unfamilliar flora. By the time "The Chef" happened, he's essentially become the Team Chef. And this is ignoring the nether wart.
  • Super-Speed: When he drinks Swiftness Potions; He caused a sonic boom in "Ultimate Minecart Race" after drinking around eight, and went into a one second-long Quick Time Event in "Lucky Block Staff" with a Swiftness Potion X.
  • Super-Strength: He's under the effects of Strength II in "Arm Wrestling"... until it runs out.
  • Team Chef: Effectively became this for the stick figures, having the most knowledge in raising crops and cooking them, and was the one that wrote the cookbook in "The Chef".
  • Papa Wolf: To the Piglin Child, as much as the tribe's leader.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Nether wart, of all things. He discovers its taste in "Potions" and it's an important part of his character ever since.

    Yellow

StickFigureYellow

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/stickfigureyellow_3.png
One of the SticksFight fighters, Yellow is an expert at engineering and coding, being considered The Smart Guy and Gadgeteer Genius of the group. He is additionally the Best Friend of Blue. At the end of Season 3 of the AvM Shorts, he is given the Command Block Staff by King Orange, thus making him very dangerous if the situation calls for it, though he prefers using the staff for harmless things like making a racetrack for his friends.
  • 100% Heroism Rating: Like Blue, he quickly becomes beloved by the Titan Ravager Village after stopping the Titan Ravager's rampage. He becomes even more popular after stopping the Raid.
  • Aesop Amnesia: Demonstrates this in the Actual Short "It's Alive!", where he apparently forgets the events of "Command Blocks" and decides it'd be a great idea to give life to such a block. The only reason that this doesn't end in disaster is because his friends remember those events all too well and are quick to stop him. In general, Yellow's entire obssession with King Orange's command block in Season 3 can be called a big case of this, as he's determined to get it while apparently not remembering what happened the last time he used one.
  • All Drummers Are Animals: Plays the role of the drummer in "Note Block Battle", and alongside Red is one of the most trouble-making members of the Stick Gang.
  • Badass Teacher: A skilled fighter that also happens to be the teacher of his Redstone Academy.
  • Best Friend: Of Blue. While they were shown to be close since as early as Season 1 of the AvM Shorts, but Season 3 really hammers it down by having them be by each other's side throughout the majority of the season.
  • Beyond Redemption: Despite the Stick Gang being a forgiving bunch, Yellow seemingly thought Purple was beyond saving after one betrayal too much, trying to stop Green from chasing after him. He changes his mind in the Season 3 finale.
  • Big Damn Heroes:
    • In "The End", he, the Second Coming, Red and a dozen Villagers save Green and Blue from falling to their deaths.
    • In "The Raid", he and the Titan Ravager arrive to scare away the Illagers. Then the two and Blue arrive to save everyone from King Orange back in the Nether.
    • Yellow, Blue, Skellington and the Ravager try to pull this off in "The King", charging at the titular character while Herobrine is busy. It really doesn't work, with the Ravager dying in the process.
    • In "Lucky Block Staff", Yellow uses a Barrier Staff to save Red from being trapped in bedrock by the Orb.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Gets the most focus out of all the stick figures, including the Second Coming, in vs. Arcade Games. He creates a functioning arcade cabinet, is skilled in arcade gaming, defeated a rogue Q*bert and convinced him to bring back his friends.
  • Demolitions Expert: Out of all the stick figures, he seems to be the one who handles TNT the most, even utilizing them in a grenade-like fashion.
  • Didn't Think This Through: See Too Clever by Half. He often comes up with what are seemingly clever solutions, only to inadvertently reap even worse repercussions.
  • Dumb and Drummer: Inverted. He serves as the drummer in both the episodes "Note Blocks" and "Note Block Battle" as well as being one of the most intelligent stick figures capable of coding and making redstone contraptions.
  • The Gadfly: The first thing he does when finding out about command blocks is troll Red with a hard-to-get cake.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: His persona—he's an absolute genius with redstone. He graduates from building a rapid-fire arrow dispenser in vs. Minecraft to a huge underground roller coaster network, he's the one who sets up the drumbeats with redstone torches in "Note Blocks", and figures out the command blocks in no time at all in "Command Blocks".
  • Hollywood Hacking: In "The Showdown", he manages to hack and access the Dark Lord's computer in his console in order to summon the Animator to aid the Chosen One against the Dark Lord. Don't ask us how he knew the password to the console, he just did.
  • Magic Staff: In "The Raid", the Villagers make Yellow a staff not unlike King Orange's in order for him to efficiently wield the Command Block that he swiped. It's not quite enough to stop King Orange, who at that point had two Game Icons. It gets destroyed in "The King", but at the end of the episode the titular King entrusts his own staff and the Command Block to Yellow. From that point on, it becomes Yellow's signature weapon, specifically with the Command Block installed.
  • The Smart Guy: Is the one to figure out how to use the Dark Lord's computer to call for help from the Animator against the Dark Lord. He also takes to redstone builds like a duck to water in Minecraft.
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: Is characterized like this in the "Faces" Actual Short, due to his extensive smarts in redstone.
  • Stern Teacher: In contrast to his easygoing personality, he's much more serious in his body gestures whenever he's teaching his students redstone as the professor of the Redstone Academy, making sure his students pay attention (by slamming his pointer on his desk) and write down everything he's know.
  • Took a Level in Badass: He was already pretty strong, even if the weakest of the Stick Gang, but he becomes way stronger when he gains the Command Block Staff. He's by all means the strongest of the Stick Gang with the staff, if only because the Second Coming can't naturally access his Super Mode.
  • Too Clever by Half: One of his trademarks has him ideate and realise some of his greatest ideas, only to face hilarious fails when he progresses through them:
    • In "The Roller Coaster", he builds a vast, intricate, layered, amazing roller coaster underground... but fails to account for Minecraft physics, causing his friends to fall off a cliff. Oops.
    • In "Command Blocks", he spawns lightning to make a dramatic display for Red, smiting zombies from on high. The lightning hits the command blocks, causing a massive Interface Screw that engulfs the computer itself—only the Second Coming's quick thinking saves the day.
    • In "Lucky Blocks", he decides to take apart a Lucky Block to see how it works, and eventually returns with a mysterious orb that spawns all the mobs and items spawned by a Lucky Block. The Orb ends up possessing him and eventually the rest of his friends. They end up getting saved by, of all things, a flying, armed, and armored pig. He at least learns his lesson, unlike Red, as proven in "Lucky Block Staff'".
  • You Shall Not Pass!: Does this is in the Actual Short of the same name against the Spider Queen and Wither King.

    Red

StickFigureRed

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/stickfigurered_4.png
The final of the SticksFight fighters, Red is somewhat childish and impulsive while also being the Animal Lover and a Friend to All Living Things. He really likes pigs and has a weird connection to Herobrine.
  • Aesop Amnesia: Unlike everyone else, Red doesn't care that using a Lucky Block is just asking for the Orb to appear and cause chaos. As a result, he causes all of "Lucky Block Staff", and is justifiably shamed by other stick figures.
  • All-Loving Hero: He is generally very friendly to everyone at first meeting, and is usually the most cheerful of the Stick Gang.
  • All of the Other Reindeer: In "Monster School". After Herobrine's teleportation makes him accidentally bump into Endie, Skellington and Spider, they begin to hate him. When the lattermost trips him for fun, every other student in the school begins bullying him for amusement. This seemingly ends after the Team Race, where he befriends the three mobs and proves his strength to the rest of the students.
  • Animal Lover: His niche among his friends is spawning mobs like his pet pigs.
  • Animal Motif: Pigs, his favorite and most iconic pets.
  • Arch-Enemy: Subverted. Despite Herobrine possessing him and trying to murder his friends in Animation vs. Minecraft, when they meet again several years later, Red doesn't seem to even care (despite seemingly recognizing and being unnerved by Herobrine), while Herobrine himself completely forgot. Several episodes later, the two team up to fight King Orange, Red lets Herobrine possess him for a second time, and they part ways with no hard feelings, the "Rainstorm' short proving he even attends the Monster School from time to time.
  • Best Friend: Generally serves as this to the Second Coming when Green's not around.
  • Big Damn Heroes:
    • In "The End", he, the Second Coming, Yellow and a dozen Villagers save Green and Blue from falling to their deaths.
    • He enforces one in "Lucky Blocks", spawning a pig to serve as the Stick Gang's Last Stand against the Orb.
    • In "Monster School", he arrives halfway through the Team Race to save his teammates from being killed; he's later at the receiving end of one, his teammates saving him from the other students. He and his team pull another moment like this later on, stopping King Orange from equipping the Game Icon onto the staff.
  • Bully Magnet: He manages to gain the hatred of an entire school in "Monster School".
  • Butt-Monkey: Tends to be the butt of the joke in the main episodes, while Green is one for the An Actual Short miniseries. This is Exaggerated in "Monster School" to the point of not being funny. All of the monsters grief Red's attempts to perform all of the assignments, from Spider tripping Red trying to ambush a Steve clone, to basically being used as a stepping stool for the race by his "teammates". He even considered leaving his team for dead because they were bullying him into the ground.
  • Berserk Button: Do not, we repeat, "do not" mess with his animals. Unless you "want" to experience his fighting skills firsthand.
  • Demonic Possession: Gets one courtesy of Herobrine. The team has to delete the Minecraft Game Icon itself to stop him. Gets possessed by Herobrine again in the climax of "The King", but at this point Herobrine is a lot less demonic.
  • Don't You Dare Pity Me!: In VI, he punches Yellow in the shoulder for trying to check up on him after their playfight with the Animator.
  • Fatal Flaw: His impulsiveness often gets the better of him, whether it's accidentally opening up the website portals, causing the Dark Lord to realise someone is in the shack, trying to fight the Dark Lord by himself and thus getting swiftly killed, falling into Purple's parkour simulation, or anything else.
  • Fiery Redhead: Well, fiery completely red figure, but still fits: He's very impulsive and often aggressive.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Served as this to the Yellow Team in the beginning. It quickly changed, and they're now genuine friends.
  • Friend to All Living Things: He's the animal lover of the bunch, summoning a cat during "The Building Contest", bonding with a pig during "Potions" (and being heartbroken when it dies, despite it trying to kill him), building a statue of his pet chicken with Blue in "Note Blocks", and even befriending three hostile mobs in "Monster School".
  • The Gadfly: "The Rediscovery", the first mini-episode, focuses on the team finding the Minecraft Game Icon again after it was tossed in the trash during vs. Minecraft. Everyone's excited, passing out blocks and items, when Yellow pauses just before giving it to Red. The scene cuts to the team in full diamond armour, gear and weapons ready for a massive battle, and the Second Coming tentatively giving the block to Red before dashing to safety, not wanting Herobrine to strike again. Red starts twitching erratically, the ominous music builds... and he summons a few rabbits. (He gets a well-earned Dope Slap from Blue with a diamond helmet for that, which promptly knocks him out since, you know, it's diamond).
  • Hot-Blooded: Often presented as this as part of his Leeroy Jenkins tendencies.
  • Instant Knots: In "Monster School", he uses his yellow headband to snatch away the enemies' weapons.
  • Kiddie Kid: While the entire Stick Gang is around the ages of 10-13 according to Word of God, Red ticks all the boxes of the typical characterization of the youngest member of a group of heroes: He's impulsive, short-sighted, hot-blooded, more emotional, too curious for his own good (as seen in "Lucky Block Staff" where the Stick Gang didn't want to test out the titular block on Yellow's staff, remembering what happened the last time they misused the block, but Red took the staff to test it out himself, which lead to disastrous results), and inexperienced in various fields compared to the rest of his friends. In "Power Outage", he can be seen jumping on the couch like a five-year-old. Also whenever he's in danger, the rest of the Stick Gang notably work extra hard to get him out of trouble compared to when any of the other members are in danger.
  • The Leader: Of the Yellow Team from "Monster School".
  • Leeroy Jenkins: Tends to be the most impulsive out of the gang, which carries over to combat. When a fight breaks out, expect this guy to make the first move.
  • Martial Arts Headband: Gains a yellow one in "Monster School", as provided by Herobrine to denote who his teammates are in the final exam. He then ditches it while taking the opportunity to escape, but after seeing his appointed teammates take a beating, he puts it back on and goes to help them. After that, Red wears it to symbolize his bond with his new friends. He even utilizes it in combat at a couple points, such as whipping and grabbing King's staff with it. At the end of "The King", he bequeaths it to the Warden.
  • The Minion Master: Crossed with The Beastmaster.
    • In PvP, he summons both one large Iron Golem and an endless stream of snowball-tossing Snow Golems.
    • In "Ultimate Minecart Race", he uses a horse to get ahead of Blue, utilises chickens on leashes to slow the others during the freefall segment, and even rides on a bee during the final lap.
  • Nice Guy: He loves animals and he's a good friend—notably, he's the first person to wave to the Second Coming when the team's revived in IV. He also waves back at the armor stand waiving at him in "Command Blocks", interacting with it like it was just another stick figure.
  • Pie in the Face: Cakes in this case. In the episode "The Prank", Red's method of pranking his friends involves hurling the deserts at them when they're being preoccupied with something such as cooking or testing out a redstone contraption.
  • The Prankster: Red has pranked his friends on a few occasions such as scaring his friends with a creeper costume or by pretending he's possessed by Herobrine. This becomes the center of a whole episode, "The Prank", where Red throws cakes at the gang's faces and becomes obsessed with doing the same to Green when he keeps avoiding a pie in the face. This has led to a point where Red has to consult Green's closest friend Purple to create the ultimate prank.
  • Red Is Heroic: He's red in color and is a heroic member of the main cast.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Fittingly enough, he is the Red Oni due to being energetic and impulsive. Ironically enough, the Blue Oni is not Blue, but the Second Coming, who serves as the Only Sane Man.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: During his rampage in vs. Minecraft, the Second Coming flashes back to Red playing with the emojis to make them feel better during IV. That said, he was Not Himself in that scene due to Herobrine possessing him.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: While the other stick figures agree not to merge Yellow's Magic Staff with the Lucky Block, Red does it anyway out of curiosity. When it results in the Orb coming back, he is quickly shamed by the other stick figures for it, resulting in him being put in time-out at the end of the episode.

The creator of his hollow-headed stick figures, the titular animator, and the owner of the computers where the series takes place. Almost always represented as a cursor, as it's his only way of interacting with the cast. Originally starting out as nothing more than a heartless man seeking to torture his creations for fun, he later redeems himself and becomes friends with the Stick Gang.
  • Abusive Parents: His creations can be technically called his children, and it's implied at least the Chosen One sees him as some sort of parent figure (given how he saved Alan because he made him who he is in the first place). And before his redemption in IV, he was horrible to his creations, having apparently killed victim, tortured and enslaved the Chosen One, left the Dark Lord to die and tried to kill the Second Coming. While he ultimately gets better in the future, it's shown victim doesn't care and still wants revenge on his creator.
  • Achilles' Heel: His cursor: it's his most important tool for interacting with objects on the computer. Destroy that and Alan's options become limited to keyboard shortcuts. Both the Second Coming and ViraBot exploit this.
  • all lowercase letters: His username, noogai3, is in lowercase letters. He also types like this very often, actually reflecting the real life Alan.
  • Arch-Enemy: The Chosen One's first ever arch-enemy. The Animator has enslaved the Chosen One for four years, has made the stick figure with the sole purpose of killing him, and the Chosen One later destroyed his first computer. They forgive each other in Animator vs. Animation V: The Chosen One decides to save him from the ViraBot after remembering Alan is the one who gave life to him, and the Animator forgives his creation after the virus is killed.
  • Arc Villain: Of the original series composing of the first four installments. After his Heel–Face Turn in Animator vs. Animation IV, he becomes the Big Good.
  • Art Attacker: He is "the animator" after all. He uses his mouse and his keyboard to be able to draw up various kinds of functioning weapons to fight against his stick figures in his computer whether they are digitally drawn or ASCII art forms.
  • The Artifact: Since Alan is no longer antagonistic to his stick figures (which was a key element of what started the series), he has a much a smaller role but still remains as a supporting character to the main cast, making the franchise's title irrelevant (though he does battle the Dark Lord in AvA V and has a brief playfight with the Stick Gang in AvA VI, proving it's not completely null).
  • Author Avatar: The fictionalized version of the series' creator Alan Becker. The in-universe Animator outright has the same name as his real-life self, and Noogai is Alan's username on Newgrounds in real life.
  • The Berserker: He is very aggressive against the Second Coming, ViraBot and the Dark Lord in V. Curiously, he never acts the same before or afterwards, thinking and being more creative instead of just charging into battle.
  • Big Good: He plays a very inactive role, but he is more or less this ever since his redemption, being the owner of the computer and thus every program or video game the Stick Gang plays with being there because of him.
  • Butt-Monkey: He tends to be the ultimate victim throughout the series; everyone else shrugs off their injuries, but the things that happen to him tend to be less inconsequential. Animator vs. Animation III ends with his computer crashing. IV reveals that the computer was unusable because of a fried motherboard after the Chosen One and Dark Lord thrashed it, and has him scrambling to stop burned bridges when Second Coming vandalizes his Facebook page. Malware gets installed into his computer in V, and when the other stick figures go on their adventure in VI, the Animator is left blankly staring at the burning wreck that the Chosen One left his animation software in. In the videos to promote TeamTrees and TeamSeas, the stick figures make a bank-breakingly large donation in his name ($5100 dollars and $18,547,800 dollars, respectively). Finally, several Actual Shorts have him suffer due to the Stick Gang's incompetence, whether it is him losing his family photos or being interrupted while working.
  • Caps Lock: He'll sometimes type in all uppercase letters, typically used as a way to convey being in distress, correcting himself, or just using emoticons.
  • Challenge Seeker: He created the Chosen One simply because he was looking for a challenge.
  • Commuting on a Bus: After Animator vs. Animation IV, he basically dissappeared from the series until AvA V and VI, where he is overshadowed by the stick figures. Besides this, he appears only as quick cameos in vs. League of Legends and vs. Pokemon, and is a semi-recurring character in the An Actual Short series.
  • Create Your Own Villain: All of the issues caused by the Chosen One and the Dark Lord only happened because he made them and then treated them like shit. The same thing can be said about victim once he makes his return.
  • Evil God: He's not a god in his own world, but in his own computer, he's essentially like one to the stick figures he's created and the programs, as he is able to end many of the sentient programs using task manager. He becomes the God of Good upon redeeming himself.
  • The Faceless: In-universe, we only ever see his hands—drawing, typing, picking up keys and laundry or just the back of his head, but not his face. Before the events of IV, he was only represented by his cursor never showing his real life appearance. We do get a glimpse of his face in the Actual Short "New Wallpaper", but it's out of focus. Averted in the short "Feel Better" where it's the first ever episode we see the Animator's face in-universe. (Out of universe, Alan talked directly to the camera in several outros, though even that eventually stopped.)
  • Fatal Flaw: His Lack of Empathy towards stick figures, which continues biting him in the ass years after he moves past this. The reason the Chosen One managed to convince the Dark Lord to turn against him is because of his apathy to the fact his creation is about to get killed. Also, in IV, he mercilessly ends the Second Coming's friends and tries to end him as well despite the fact they weren't doing any real damage to the computer (through this might be justified as he feared that they will destroy his computer as well when they go on a rampage. Then again, it's a Self-Fulfilling Prophecy, as if he didn't end his friends, the Second Coming wouldn't try to destroy his computer). The Second Coming even has to spell out that the reason he's upset is because the Animator deleted his friends. All of Animator vs. Animation VI is happening because of how he mistreated victim, his original creation.
  • God of Good: Initially starting off as an Evil God, he becomes much more benevolent towards his own digital inhabitants after resurrecting the Second Coming's friends at the end of Animator vs. Animation IV. Alan Becker has complete control over his computer where it is its own world inhabited by many sentient beings like his stick figures whom he allows them to have free autonomy in his own computer and is permissive to let them travel between his own gadgets like his phone and gaming consoles.
  • Heel–Face Turn: While he creates stick figures just to fight for fun in the first videos, by IV, he's made peace with his newest stick figure adversary.
  • "It" Is Dehumanizing: He calls the Second Coming an "it" when he first showcases he's capable of speech. He seems to ditch that after his redemption.
  • Leeroy Jenkins: Near the end of Animator vs. Animation V, his first reaction upon seeing dozens of ViraBots is to charge at the Dark Lord with the intentions of continuing the asskicking. It doesn't end well for his cursor.
  • No-Nonsense Nemesis: Not in the original trilogy, where he sadistically tortures the stick figures because he doesn't consider them a serious threat, but in IV, the very second he recovers from the Oh, Crap! of seeing the stick figure (as well as the others on his computer) rummaging about, he force boots Task Manager. Also, when the Second Coming tries to fight him, he uses the most direct means of disposal possible (select all + delete) when in the animation program. In V, he's using very direct ways of fighting ViraBot and wastes no time fighting the Dark Lord. Suffice to say, the Animator is determined to make sure he never has to go through the events of AvA III again.
  • No-Sell: Downplayed. The upgraded cursor created by Yellow in the second half of V is resistant to the Dark Lord's virus-based attacks, but even that has its limits: the combination of several of TDL's blades and every ViraBot combined manages to erase the cursor and crash the Animator Combat Tool.
  • Offing the Offspring: It's implied the Chosen One views him as his father to some extent, and by all means all of his creations could be called his sons. He tries to kill every single one, out of amusement or a bigger reason, and he never succeeds.
  • Oh, Crap!: After ending the tasks of the Fighting Stick Figures, he discovers that the orange one he drew is represented by the file TheSecondComing.exe, "The Chosen One's Return". We don't see his face, but his cursor slows noticeably before he tries to end the task, indicating that he already knows it's not going to be that easy.
  • Out of Focus: After Animator vs. Animation IV, he has a much smaller role with the Stick Gang taking the spotlight.
  • Papa Wolf: The Animator's reaction to Green and Red accidentally destroying photos of his family? Changing his cursor into a hand and trying to kick their asses. Also, the stick figures can be technically counted as his kids, and he's protective of them too.
  • Rapid-Fire Typing: Besides Yellow, Alan is very skilled and quick with typing with a keyboard, as showcased in IV when he designed a stronger customized cursor without ever using his mouse after the Second Coming destroys his cursor. In III, he was able to create an ASCII version of a pistol in just a short timeframe of approximately 10 seconds.
  • Rage Breaking Point: After everything the Chosen One did, up to and including destroying his computer, when the Second Coming "likes" a sad Facebook post to ruin his reputation, Alan is furious enough to slam his fist on the table and go all out on trying to destroy the Second Coming.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Has evolved into this by the end of IV. He gives the Second Coming and his friends free rein to use his computer, letting them play Minecraft and surf the web, in exchange for the Second Coming's advice on animation and not trashing everything beyond repair.
  • Suddenly Voiced: He starts talking and makes an appearance in IV as his "appearances" before were just his cursor and typing up words.
  • Summon Bigger Fish: He is the bigger fish during "The Showdown", with Yellow writing a program from the Dark Lord's console to let him contribute to the fight - represented from the stick figures' perspective as a giant cursor manifesting upon the battlefield. The Dark Lord proceeds to summon his own bigger fish, the ViraBot Army, which defeats Alan.
  • Starter Villain: The main antagonist of the first four entries, until he redeems in the fourth, letting other characters be the bad guys.
  • Terrible Artist: When he started animating, the best he could animate were stick figures with his fourth stick figure, the Second Coming, being a better artist than him. This is eventually addressed in IV when the Second Coming teaches him how to draw and animate.
  • Unexplained Recovery: At the beginning of Animator vs. Animation V, ViraBot destroys his cursor and then shreds the Start menu to prevent him from summoning a new one. When the scene cuts back to him in the second half, he's somehow managed to re-summon his cursor and is dragging the wreckage into the Recycle Bin, indicating that he didn't reboot his computer.
  • Unsportsmanlike Gloating: Implicitly and wordlessly so in Animator vs. Animation VI: after knocking over all the stick figures in a single blow, he flauntingly floats his cursor in a figure eight above them.
  • The Worf Effect: With his near-total external control of his computer, he is one of the most powerful allies the Stick Gang have in their setting. Naturally, whenever the stick figures face major threats, he either happens to be absent or it just so happens the threat has ways of removing him from the battle.
  • You Cannot Grasp the True Form: Inverted. Although he appears in the computer as a simple cursor, programs can see him through the monitor.

    The Chosen One

The Chosen One

Debut: Animator vs. Animation II

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tco_from_ava.png
The second creation of the Animator, given a strong title for the purpose of giving a good fight. After his defeat, he ends up enslaved for several years, but he manages to destroy Alan's computer and escape into the Internet, where he teams up with the Dark Lord. But then he starts changing his mind on things.
  • Achilles' Heel: He can take on single opponents no problem, but the few times he's been overpowered were when he was made to fight several enemies at once. See the desktop icons in III, the ViraBots in V and the Mercenaries in VI.
  • The Aloner: Following the Dark Lord's betrayal and defeat, the Chosen One is seemingly all alone and by himself.
  • The Atoner: Not explicitly stated, but it's heavily implied him trying to stop the Dark Lord is an attempt to make up for spending years tormenting innocents, by trying to save all of them.
  • Ape Shall Never Kill Ape: Implied, given how his Heel Realization starts when seeing the Dark Lord killing fellow stick figures and that his Imagine Spot, which causes him to try and stop the Dark Lord, has him killing stick figures. Even during III, the Chosen One spares the Dark Lord so they could defeat the Animator, despite him trying to kill him throughout the entire episode. Even in VI, where he's running for his life from the Mercenaries, he never uses any lethal moves and tries to escape them. That said, this rule does have his limits and he will try to kill a stick figure if he deems it necessary: He tries to kill the Dark Lord to stop him from causing worldwide destruction, and victim torturing him eventually makes the Chosen One snap, slaughter all of his clones and try to burn him alive with his fireballs.
  • Arch-Enemy: To two characters.
    • The Animator. Even before being enslaved, the Chosen One started a rampage for absolutely zero reason mere seconds after his creation. Afterwards, the Animator made a stick figure with the sole purpose of killing the Chosen One. The Chosen One repays him by destroying his computer. They eventually team up to take down the bigger threat.
    • The Dark Lord was created for the sole purpose of killing the Chosen One, and after the two become friends, the Chosen One eventually distances himself from the Dark Lord due to his path of chaos and destruction. When they become enemies once again, the Chosen One goes absolutely No-Nonsense Nemesis on him, fully determined to stop his once-friend's rampage, it being seen more than once that the Chosen One is absolutely pissed.
  • Badass in Distress: He ends up captured in Animator vs. Animation VI, by the Mercenaries on victim's orders, so he could tell him where the Animator is.
  • The Berserker: He is very aggressive when it comes to fighting and it's been made pretty clear. This means he's screwed against smarter opponents, or where there is too many of them to fight through all of them at once.
  • Big Good: Of the main AvA series, being a character as central as the Second Coming himself, if not even more. He is also usually the strongest hero around. That said, he loses the title in spin-off entries due to being completely absent from these.
  • Big Damn Heroes: When ViraBot was about to kill everyone, he appears right at the last second to fight against it; even when he has to help Alan and save his computer.
  • Born Winner: Purposefully done by the Animator so he could have a good fight.
  • Brought Down to Badass: The Chosen One can still put up a fight even if his powers are disabled and he's fighting a superhuman opponent.
  • Bullet Seed: After eating text he gets the ability to spit letters.
  • Cain and Abel: The Chosen One and the Dark Lord are more or less brothers due to having the same "father"; they immediately try to kill each other upon meeting, and eventually go back to this after years of falling out.
  • The Chosen One: Invoked in his name, but not played straight. He wasn't chosen by gods nor does he have any quests. His name seems to simply indicate his power level and the Animator intentionally created an over-powered stick figure to fight for fun. It took nearly twelve years of his life for him to actually do something heroic, that being saving the Internet from an Omnicidal Maniac and his army.
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: At the receiving end of this in Animator vs. Animation VI, from victim.
  • Combo Platter Powers: He's a Flying Brick that can use Fire, Ice, Lightning, and Eye Beams.
  • Contrasting Sequel Main Character: Unlike victim, who only became hostile against the Animator in self-defence after nearly dying, the Chosen One became destructive the moment he came to life and he ends up being enslaved instead of deleted.
  • Create Your Own Villain: The Chosen One is the guy who turned the Dark Lord into a website-destroying villain, so he can definitely be blamed for the Dark Lord trying to be exactly that, just on a far larger scale.
  • Determinator: In VI, the Chosen One gives his all against victim despite the latter having a Home Field Advantage that can disable the Chosen One's powers and power himself up. Even when the Chosen One is too injured to fight back, he refuses to tell victim anything about the Animator. When a device is attached to the Chosen One's head to show his memories, he tries to stop it by banging his head on the ground.
  • Deus ex Machina: There was no foreshadowing he would return and save everyone from ViraBot, especially since he destroyed the old computer he resided in. This was eventually subverted when "The Flashback" showed not only how he survived the computer's destruction, but why he was chasing ViraBot.
  • Distressed Dude: Spends all of VI as one, being either chased, arrested or tortured by victim and the mercs.
  • Elemental Motifs: Fire, his most common superpower.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Has no issues wreaking havoc throughout the Internet alongside the Dark Lord for a while, but as the Dark Lord begins harming other stick figures and the like, the Chosen One starts having second thoughts. When the Dark Lord creates ViraBot, the Chosen One decides he's gone too far. Even when he sees that it was shot at Alan's computer and remembers how Alan treated him, the Chosen One still decides to chase after ViraBot. It's even stated during the reaction videos by the real life Alan that the Chosen One more or less went "a little too evil for me".
  • Extreme Omnivore: He's shown to swallow text and icons.
  • Eye Beams: His most notable power, besides control over fire.
  • Fire, Ice, Lightning: He mainly uses fire attacks, but he has shown the ability to summon down lightning, and has occasionally launched a freezing blast from his hands, even creating a giant iceberg to obscure the mercenaries view.
  • Good Is Not Nice: He's by all means a good guy in the present, but he's still rather impulsive, dismissive of others, and can do things against other people's wishes.
  • The Heavy: A Villain Protagonist example: his rampage caused a chain of events leading to the Dark Lord being created, the Animator's first computer being destroyed, the Second Coming being created, him befriending the Fighting Stick Figures and causing the Animator to pull a Heel–Face Turn.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Ultimately redeems himself in V, trying to defeat the ViraBot and the Dark Lord.
  • An Ice Person: Rarely shown, but he does possess ice powers. He used them to freeze Mozilla Firefox, trap the Mercenaries in ice bergs, and briefly freeze himself.
  • Identical Stranger: He has the exact same appearance as victim, but they are separate characters with different powers and personalities. The Animator did consider naming him victim as well before changing his mind, but he didn't change his appearance. Subverted once victim returns in VI, having been repainted gray.
  • Improvised Weapon User: He can use the scroll bar as a staff, the MS Paint's paintbrush as swords and the arrows as spears.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: His survival would have certainly be a huge spoiler if not for the fact that one of the episodes is titled "The Chosen One's Return" and that all but one of the AvA Shorts thumbnails include him in them. The same applies to his redemption, as the thumbnails show him on the Stick Gang's side.
  • Leeroy Jenkins: The Chosen One has a tendency to not think and just fight. This finally bites him in the ass in "Wanted", where he forces the Second Coming to follow him to the Outernet, refusing to accept he can't just up and use his superpowers whenever he wants, which ends very badly.
  • Megaton Punch:
    • His final attack after using all his powers on ViraBot, the one that completely destroys him.
    • Also does this on the Dark Lord to stop him from launching his virus. It failed, but he did break the machine and launched the Dark Lord quite far away.
  • Messianic Archetype: A creation/"son" of the God of Good, tortured by his enemies, betrayed by his closest ally and making a more figurative resurrection to stop the Dark Lord and save the world. And that's ignoring his name.
  • Mundane Utility: While under slavery by Alan, his powers are simply used to destroy pop-ups.
  • Non-Indicative Name: For name like "The Chosen One", you'd think he would be the one chosen to be granted with powers to protect the world and help the common people, right? Well you'd be wrong, because pretty much everything he does the moment he came to life is the exact opposite of what would be expected, with him destroying everything and killing everyone in his path to the point he's teamed up with The Dark Lord and destroy their creator's computer and continue down their sinister path. That is, until, he starts to have second thought about his actions and makes a Heel–Face Turn.
  • No-Nonsense Nemesis: When he finally has ViraBot in a vulnerable position, he unleashes absolutely everything in his arsenal to take it out. Even more when he faces off against the Dark Lord afterwards.
  • No-Sell: He can resist ViraBot's Touch of Death, unlike Alan's cursor or normal stick figures. It still hurts like hell, though.
  • No Social Skills: Implied, given his... very bad attempts at explaining what he means to the Second Coming near the beginning of VI.
  • Not So Above It All: VI showcases he's not above acting as silly as the Stick Gang themselves, such as his goofy body language once he tells TSC he needs his help, or his attempts at hyping up TSC when he's send out to fight the mercs.
  • Not Quite Dead: He escaped off-screen during the destruction of Alan's old PC by jumping into the internet itself, showing how he returned to stop ViraBot.
  • Not Quite Flight: He can levitate by shooting fire from his hands. When he Turns Red against ViraBot, he does briefly fly like you'd expect him to, but he never does it again.
  • Not So Invincible After All: Upon his creation, he immediately proves to be a force to be reckoned with, fighting through most of the Animator's defenses and desktop icons with relative ease. The Animator's programmer friend even says that creating the Chosen One is a suicide move. That being said, the programmer was about to reveal a way to defeat the Chosen One before being cut off by AIM's death, and the Chosen One is eventually restrained by Avast! Antivirus. Thus it's established from the beginning that the Chosen One is extremely powerful, but not uniquely or insurmountably powerful.
  • Playing with Fire: His most often used powers are fire-related ones. He can engulf himself in flame as a Battle Aura, shoot Fireballs or streams of fire from his hands as an attack or to propel himself through the air, and breathe fire.
  • Pose of Supplication: Gives one to the Second Coming at the end of V, out of respect for his ability to defeat the Dark Lord, whereas he could not.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Was implied to have been the stoic Blue Oni to the Dark Lord's energetic Red Oni, from the brief glimpses of the Villainous Friendship we see in "The Flashback".
  • Secret-Keeper: Subverted. He's the only one to know about the Second Coming's Super Mode, and he outright told TSC to use it, in front of his friends. Also justified, because he didn't know that was a secret and thought the orange stick could just do it whenever he could.
  • Shock and Awe: Was able to summon a thundercloud complete with lightning in II. He also uses lightning to finish ViraBot off in AvA V.
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: To the other of the Animator's creations, for a given value of "sibling".
    • victim: Both were made by the Animator with the purpose of being tormented and toyed with, but victim was meant to be unable to fight back while the Chosen One was made because the Animator was impressed by victim's performance and wanted a bigger challenge. As a result, one is a Badass Normal while the other is superpowered. And while they both hated the Animator, the Chosen One moves past that hatred while victim does not.
    • The Dark Lord: Both are all-powerful beings made by the Animator that ran on For the Evulz and hatred for their creator, but while the Chosen One was simply chaotic and proved himself to have lines he won't cross, the Dark Lord had nothing holding him back.
    • The Second Coming: They are the most important of the Animator's creations who had it personal with him, but ultimately befriended their creator. But whereas the Chosen One started out evil, is mostly a brute and is superpowered, the Second Coming was always good and is a creative Badass Normal. Most of the time, anyway.
  • Suicidal Cosmic Temper Tantrum: Immediately after being created he sets about carving a path of destruction across his creator's software, working his way up to threatening the existence of the system itself, seemingly not caring that he himself is in the system and would go down with it. The second time it's Subverted as it's later revealed he had the idea to escape through the internet connection — but the first time he gives no indication of stopping or escaping even as he's about to stomp on the shutdown.
  • Super Mode: Yes, even someone as strong as the Chosen One can have a stronger form. After the first ViraBot goes One-Winged Angel, he loses his shit and provides a massive Curb-Stomp Battle: He first hits the computer with a beam of yellow light that removes the virus' influence over the PC, then proceeds to kick its ass with teleportation, fire, lightning and laser beams, before making a Megaton Punch that kills it.
  • There Is No Kill Like Overkill: The way he finishes off the first ViraBot. He sucks him into tornado before blasting him with lightning, shooting him with massive laser beams and huge jets of fire before finishing it with a charged punch.
  • Villainous Friendship: Had one with the Dark Lord for a solid seven years, until his friend started getting too evil for his liking, after which they distanced themselves until finally turning against eachother when the ViraBots were created.
  • We Used to Be Friends: He fell out with the Dark Lord when he realized that he is absolutely demented. When he discovers him making the ViraBot, he is quick to try and stop him.
  • What You Are in the Dark: He failed to stop the Dark Lord from launching ViraBot, and was about to go after it when he noticed the destination: ALANSPC. He could have let ViraBot destroy the computer, not only as revenge against the Animator who created him to be tormented and locked him up as a pop-up blocker, but as karma for creating the Dark Lord in the first place, and Alan would be none the wiser. The Chosen One decided to go after it anyways.
  • The Worf Effect: A really bad case of this.
    • After spending the entirety of II a One-Man Army, he is effortlessly defeated by Avast! Antivirus.
    • Downplayed throughout 'III, but still evidently there, as he briefly gets his ass kicked by Clippy before struggling with normal desktop icons.
    • In V, he fights the Dark Lord evenly in prolonged combat, but is eventually overwhelmed by the Dark Lord's ViraBot army, leaving the Second Coming as the final hope of defeating the Dark Lord. And even before that, he was quite clearly getting worfed thanks to the Dark Lord's wristbands..
    • Receives an off-screen asskicking that results in him running away from the Mercenaries at the beginning of VI.
  • Worf Had the Flu: In VI, his losing fight and subsequent interrogation from victim was only possible due to the fact that he was confined in the Box, causing his powers to be seized and sometimes backfire against him. Not to mention, victim was also heavily buffed while the Chosen One was fresh off his fight with the Mercenaries while also being weakened himself, making the whole ordeal a massive disadvantage to him.
  • World's Strongest Man: As every character above the Chosen One in power needs some form of power boost (The Dark Lord's wristbands, King Orange's staff or the Second Coming's Eleventh Hour Superpowers) or outright cheating (The Mercs taking him on 4v1 and victim using the Box to boost himself and nerf TCO) to defeat him, when it comes to their "base" forms, the Chosen One is still the series' strongest stick figure.
