Sweet Sheep

  • The lambs from the 1951 Disney short Lambert the Sheepish Lion are a subverted example for most of the cartoon. The lambs for the majority of the short are mean and pick on Lambert a lion cub that got adopted by a mother sheep. The mother sheep is the only sheep that plays this trope straight. Due to Lambert not being a sheep, the lambs and the rest of the flock reject the poor cub and seen bullying and mocking him complete with a song about how they don't accept him. Eventually once Lambert and the other lambs become grow older. They flock still rejects him until Lambert (Now a grown lion) rescues and protects the sheep from a wolf. The sheep eventually becomes friends with Lambert by the end of the sheep.

  • Zootopia
    • Earlier in the film, we see Judy as a child protecting and defending a female lamb named "Ruth" who is getting bullied by Gideon Grey. Another female lamb is later seen running up to Judy and Ruth after she witnessed Judy getting slashed by Gideon. Both the unnamed lamb and Ruth play this trope straight since they are very innocent and very concerned and caring about Judy even after getting hurt.

  • While the sheep in Babe aren't the nicest sheep in fiction. They eventually befriend Babe and slowly become nicer as the movie progresses. Once the first leader of the ewe flock gets killed by a one of the Livestock guardian dogs. They get sent to another farm after the incident. However, the female guardian is lucky enough to learn a secret code that they can only known which they learn from their deceased leader. Near the end of the film, they play a major role with Babe at a state fair which is where they give the Secret Sheep Code to Babe.

  • Sheep are popular on greeting cards, letters, and postcards (mainly ones during the 1930s,1940s, and 1950s) as cute illustrations. Especially seasonal greeting cards made around Christmas and Easter. Mary's Lamb from Mary Had A Little Lamb was also popular in old greeting cards.

There's some word that goes between "in" and "celestial", but since I'm not a fan of the show, I don't know what it is.

Can someone erase this line?

"The cause of the monsters themselves is a stealthier case of this. Las Plagas sounds intimidating, as though it means "The Plagues." In reality, it translates to "The Pests"."

Wrong, I'm spanish and "Plaga" it translates to "Plage" (also infestation, scrourge, etc...)

    Jack Boyle (Zack Boyle)

Jack Boyle (Zack Boyle)

The hero of Z and Jessica's childhood friend, he is the Son of Kadic School's headmaster. Where Jessica is energetic and upbeat, he is more rational, though rather quick to lose his temper. He has a habit of whacking people, particularly his father and Jessica, with a paper fan whenever he's annoyed with them. While never outright stated, there are plenty of hints of he being in love withJessica, which are also hinted to be mutual. Like her, Jack also has counterparts from other dimensions who share his face and mannerisms. It's later revealed that she is a "piece" of her original incarnation named Rayn, a man who sacrificed himself long ago to stop the main antagonist, Zinc, from destroying the world.

Zack plays a Fantasia/Melocoinc deck which largely relies on Special Summoning multiple smaller monsters to Tribute Summon his ace, Melcoinc Prodigy , which Special Summons more Fantasia monsters, continuing the chain. After his loss to Mike Kotsu, he decided to train in Fusion Summoning. The result is a deck that can take advantage of swarming and Fusion and earning him a new ace, Bloom Magiacian.

Tropes associated with Jack:

  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: When he asks Serena to teach him how to Fusion Summon.
  • All-Loving Heroine: Jack cares about keeping everyone safe and is deeply against people willingly hurting others. And has willingly tried to stop a duel prematurely to protect his opponent. And like Jessica, this has bitten her in the ass before.
  • Always Save the Girl: He deeply wants to end the war and will do anything to keep everyone safe, but if he thinks Jessica either is hurt or depressed, he will drop whatever she was doing to help her. Yugo even lampshades this after his duel in Chapter 69.
  • Awesomeness by Analysis: Serena stated he learned how to counter a Fusion deck by understanding a Fusion duelist.
  • Badass Adorable: He has his cute moments.
  • Badass Biker: Starting in chapter 69. He has a miserable start when the Action Riding Duel begins, but that is later forgotten thanks to several stunts he does during the duel, some of them being even in mid-air.
  • Badass in Distress:
    • Happens early on when he is taken hostage by Stephanie.
    • Later the unstoppable Walker kidnaps Jack and brings him to where Roger is in chapter 92, despite Tsukikage's and Sora's efforts to protect her.
    • Again, in episode 98, Roger manages to defeat his protecters and kidnap him offscreen.
    • Kidnapped again in chapter 115 by an infected Serena.
  • Baddie Flattery: On the receiving end of one from Jennifer who compliments him on defying her and not going willingly with her, after she proved to be completely remorseless on carding Halena and Orga and threatened her with the same if he got in the way as well, saying that he's the same as Ruma and Rick. She then offers to duel him and she wins he has to go with her.
  • Batman Gambit: During his second duel with Mike, he counted on him doing another Fusion summon, allowing him to use a certain Trap Card.
  • Berserk Button: Acting callous about human suffering pisses him off more than anything else.
  • Boke and Tsukkomi Routine:
    • Whenever Jessica or his father make him mad, he hits them with his fan, which is a classic manzai gag.
    • He also has this dynamic with Yugo.
  • Borrowed Catch Phrase: In chapter 69, he uses Jessica, Shin and Flower's Catch Phrases during his Entertainment Duel with Tokumatsu.
  • Break the Cutie: Jack is a kind hearted boy that deeply cares for his family and friends and while not as bad as Jessica, he gets tortured as well. From being disturbed and distracted because of Jen and feeling frustrated at his lack of focus and power, learning that Serena was evil and finding a comatose Jessica who didn't wake up for 2 days, meeting and being chased by Jennifer for an entire night and finally being teleported to the Accel Dimension away from everyone he cares about. Later he's captured by Academia, and then infected by the Nurse with a Parasite Fusioner in his head. After he's freed from the Nurse's control, Jack learns that he and his counterparts are actually pieces of Rayn, that the Professor plans to sacrifice to resurrect his son, is helpless as he watches Jessica fall under Zinc's influence, and becomes the first of the Watch Boys to be absorbed into Z.
  • Bridal Carry:
    • Indirectly done by Jessica, since one of her Magicians saves him when he falls, and carries him like this.
    • Then he does an indirect one to Mike in chapter 29, when Bloom Diva saves him from a (possibly) fatal fall.
    • Has a proper one done to him by Dova when she saves him and herself from falling into lava, complete with her monster saving them in a stylish way.
    • He gets another one from Tara when she and Hara save him and Sam from the Goon force. While Sam got an Over-the-Shoulder Carry.
    • Gets one from Jessica in chapter 99 when she saves him from falling
  • Burning with Anger: In Chapter 27, he burst into flames when meeting Alex. The reason why he does this? Alex calls Jessica his "darling".
  • Butt-Monkey: He was this in Chapter 55 when he was reasonably nervous about a dueling while riding on a motorcycle and that it was Yugo driving it.
  • The Cassandra: While in Accel Dimension with Yugo, he tries to warn people about the invasion, but no one listens to her.
  • Character Development: The first few chapters played up his Tsundere side and made him seem like he had a very short temper. But due to traumatic events, he's grown much more serious and focused. Determined to grow strong enough to protect his friends and to discover the secret of the events around him. His fan-smacks are now usually reserved for his dad.
  • Character Tics: Jack does the same hand-clasping gesture when he Fusion Summons as Serena and others from the Fusion Dimension, due to learning from her. Though Serena points out later that his elbows aren't quite far enough out.
  • Childhood Friends: With Jesica, which is why his meeting with Jen disturbs him so much. She looks like Jessica, making him question just how much he really knows about his best friend.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: There have been plenty of hints that his feelings for Jessica are more than just friendship.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: He was not happy that Alex hugged Jessica, calling her his fated person. He looked very annoyed to see Alex again, in Chapter 27, calling Jessica his "darling" all the time.
  • Clothing Switch: Later he starts wearing Rick's clothes.
  • Cool Big Bro: He acts this way to the younger students of Kadic Duel School.
  • Defiant Captive: In chapter 95, he knocks Roger to the ground and hijacks his broadcast to expose his Evil Plan in front of the City before being pushed away by him.
  • Determinator: In Chapter 3-4, he refused to give up even as he was dangling from a tower. Also demonstrated by his will to fight for his friends and school. He later spent an entire night running away from Jennifer in Chapter 47.
  • Deuteragonist: While he doesn't get to duel as much as Jessica, he is as deeply involved in the plot events as her, and prior to Chapter 35 had more to do with the main plot than her; while Jessica was running around qualifying for the tournament, Jack was getting further involved with the Jane-Serena plot. While Jessica has gotten more involved over time, Jack continues to be important and often has a lot of plot development in chapters focusing on him. It's a tell to his status as this trope that he and Jessica are the only characters with dimensional counterparts, and it's Jack's counterparts, not Jessica's, that are critical to Academia's plans.
  • Drama-Preserving Handicap: He's a perfectly competent Duelist and able to hold off most of his pursuers on his own. So naturally he keeps losing his Duel Disk throughout the Accel arc.
  • Dub Name Change: Zack Boyle.
  • Epic Fail:
    • Fails his first Fusion Summon, because he added it to his Main Deck instead of his Extra Deck while thinking about the whole Dark Duelist affair. Fortunately, it's just a training duel.
    • He has a false start during his first Riding Duel. However, it does not actually hinder him at all.
  • Everyone Can See It: It is fairly obvious to most people that Jack loves Jessica, and no one really seems to believe his claims otherwise.
  • Explosive Instrumentation: In the first chapter, Jack loses his temper and pounds on a keyboard, which damages the school's Solid Vision system and forces them to get a replacement.
  • Fiery Redhead: Of the fuchsia-haired kind. While normally a well-meaning Nice Guy, people's idiocy (especially Jessica's) gets on her nerves.
  • From Bad to Worse: Being surrounded by the Goon Force is bad. Jennifer sending them away and taking over is just horrifying.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Like any Tsundere, he has this, but he has mainly grown out of this by character development.
  • Hammerspace: Where he keeps his fan.
  • Happily Adopted: He is perfectly happy being Shin's son.
  • The Heart: Downplayed due to the fact that he is the Deuteragonist whose plotline and character development doesn't revolve around this trope, but he is still the one who was forced to control the Kadic Duel School more manic personalities. Probably why his disappearance in chapter 50 hits them so hard, especially Yuya.
  • She Is Not My Girlfriend: Says this in stereo with Jessica. Though he didn't like how much stronger she said it.
  • Heroic BSoD:
    • He's very troubled by his encounter with Jen and her resemblance to Jessica. A few chapters after that, his opponent Mike could tell he was off his game, and he ends up losing because he wasn't thinking clearly.
    • Happened again in Chapter 21, when he is completely confused over what is happening to his life after meeting Jen.
    • He has a nasty one in Chapter 47 after dueling and running away from Jennifer for an entire night, he admits that he can't escape from her and is crying for Jessica to save heim
  • Heroic Resolve: Despite being surrounded by three Goon Force, he refuses to go down without a fight. He maintains the same attitude even when confronted by Jennifer.
  • Heel: He tried to invoke this trope in Chapter 2. Like Father Like Son.
  • Hidden Eyes: In chapter 23, he shows this when Alex calls Jessica his fated person. Hilarity Ensues.
  • Instant Expert: After only a few minutes using a D-Wheel, he masters the autopilot so well he can do impressive tricks with it.
  • Le Parkour: While not as much as Jessica, he's shown to be rather nimble in an Action Duel and did four backflips in a row when he dueled Jennifer.
  • Light Is Good: Her monsters are LIGHT monsters.
  • Luminescent Blush: Happens to him a couple of times, though all of those times involve Jessica and her dimensional counterparts getting up close and personal with him. Usually he thinks each of Jessica's dimensional counterparts as Jessica.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: Jack realized that he couldn't beat Jennifer in Chapter 47 and instead of letting himself be captured, he spent the entire night running away from her.
  • Made of Iron: Even though Serena saved him, him waking up after being rammed into a building a few hours later and being able to walk, makes him this.
  • Missing Mom: In chapter 57, he tells Yugo that like her he grew up not knowing his mother's face.
  • Mr. Exposition: He acts as one to Yugo, telling her about the people that resemble them, his watch, the Academia and the Resistance.
  • Morality Pet: His and Jessica's friendship with Serena caused her to make a Heel–Face Turn.
  • Ms. Fanservice: He gets his first fanservice moment in chapter 62. His second is a silhouetted Shower Scene in chapter 106.
  • Multicolored Hair: Has dark oink hair and two bangs that are light blue, similar to Sam, Ruma and Rick.
  • Nice Guy: He's kind-hearted and shows it most of the time, though he won't hesitate to use his paper fan as a weapon when the situation calls for it.
  • Nonuniform Uniform: Jack wears a sleeveless shirt, different from the one other boys wear at the school and also is missing the jacket; still, nobody comments on it.
  • Not So Different:
    • He gets mad at Jessica for failing to Platinum Summon in their duel, and then several episodes later, he fails to Fusion Summon correctly (if only because he distracted reflecting upon his first encounter with Jen).
    • She is often annoyed by his father's Hot-Blooded antics, even though Jack himself is a very hot-blooded temper. Both also act as the Heel at occassion.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business:
    • Jessica suspects something is up in Chapter 8 when Serena (who was "Fusion Summoning" a dessert during class) isn't hit by his Paper Fan of Doom.
    • He breaks down crying when he is teleported to the Accel Dimension, away from Jessica and everyone in Kadic.
  • Opera Gloves: While wearing a borrowed Riding Dueling outfit from Rick.
  • Out of Focus: In the Accel Dimension arc, while still very important due to being a Watch boy, he does very little, only having two full duels, and spending most of the time without a duel disk or even able to duel.
  • Paper Fan of Doom: He smacks his father with a paper fan whenever he does something * Plot Armor: How did Yuzu survive from Sergey's attack? Sora bails her out while unconscious.
  • Put on a Bus: He was teleported with Yugo to the Accel Dimension, he's back during chapter 54-55 and briefly during chapter 57 and fully returns in chapter 63.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Gives a fabulous one to Roger in chapter 94, telling him that those who oppress others through absolute power can't win against those who opened up their hearts and resonate with each other. A desperate Roger is pissed off as a result.
    • Gives another one to him, calling him a Sore Loser and Dirty Coward for all his plans failing. This time, Roger loses it even more and slams him against the wall.
  • Ret-Gone: After Rayn finally defeats Zinc and the universe splits into the dimensions again, he's nowhere to be around and Jessica, Gewna and Shin appear to having forgotten all about him except that Jessica's cat (Encore) has his red tie and Shin somehow has his fan which he uses to smack Jessica because he remembers that he used to get that a lot. Later subverted when memories of Jessica gradually start coming back and he, along with his counterparts, appears in the final chapter of the series.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: His hair has two different shades of pink and he's mostly a Nice Guy.
  • Rousing Speech: He gives a strong one towards Jessica in Chapter 140. He states that Jessica isn't a devil but instead someone that gives happiness. That she kept looking for him and it was because of her that he was able to grow stronger. This speech was able to give Jessica the strength to awaken.
  • Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: The Savy Guy to Jessica's energetic girl.
  • Sanity Slippage: After his meeting with Jen, Jessica's perception has become a bit... flawed. He gets better after uncovering the facts.
  • Say My Name: Loves saying Jessica's name out loud, no matter what the situation.
  • Screw Your Ultimatum!: After Jennifer appears and tries intimidate and threaten him to surrender and go with her without making a fuss, he slaps her hand away and makes four backflips to get away from her, and is prepared to fight back.
  • Student–Master Team: When he tags with Serena.
  • Stuffed into the Fridge: Subverted! Jack was simply teleported away by his wathc, but due to confusion caused by the Goon Force, Jessica and the rest think he was carded.
  • Suicidal "Gotcha!": In order to stop Mike from getting an Action card and negating the Trap Card vital for his combo, Jack jumps off of a bridge to retrieve it, knowing that Bloom Diva will catch her.
  • Sympathy for the Devil: Jack actually tries to call off his duel with Walker after seeing how far he's willing to go in order to secure his win. Ends up being wasted as the unsympathetic bastard enjoys his own suffering and flies into a sadistic psychotic rage against the poor boy.
  • Tears of Joy: Jack tends to this whenever he's away from Jesssica for a long time and ends up running into him.
    • He cries these in chapter 64 when he see Jessica in the Accel Dimension.
    • Cries them again when he and Jessica are briefly reunited in chapter 99.
    • After being freed from the Nurse, he's ecstatic when the first face he see again is Jessica running towards him.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Attempts this by asking Serena to teach him about Fusion Summoning.
  • Trauma Conga Line: A long series of moments for him, especially Chapter 21, though he hasn't quite broken... Yet. He eventually gets better in Chapter 24.
  • Tsundere: Jack is generally kind, but Jessica's messing around annoys him.
  • Twin Switch: With Sam, by using Clothing Switch. They did that to distracts the Goon Force from Sam.
  • Unknown Rival: He's one to Mike. Mike doesn't consider him a threat at all. In Chapter 29, Mike recognizes him as a Worthy Opponent.
  • Unlimited Wardrobe: Downplayed Trope, but he gets more outfit changes than expected in a shounen. His original outfit, a track suit in the first ending, Sam's borrowed clothes, Ricks's borrowed clothes, Rick's borrowed Biker outfit, the facility outfit, and Alex's borrowed old clothes. As you can see, most of his outfits aren't even his.
  • Weak, but Skilled: His Fusion Monsters don't go beyond Level 6, yet their effects makes them deadly. In particular, Lightning Thunder Dargon's effect means it actually becomes more deadly against Special Summoned monsters the lower its own attack points should become. He exploits this.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: He gives one to Jen, saying it is wrong for her to protect him, but let Mike be hurt.
  • Will Not Be a Victim: His Living MacGuffin status gets him kidnapped/targeted a lot, but even weaponless and handcuffed Jack always tries to fight back, whether physically or verbally.
  • You Are Not Alone: His goal in a nutshell for Jessica, during her duel with Tokumatsu in episode 69, she made sure to let know Yuya that she was there for him, and that she would never be alone, especially pronounced when he used Jessica's, Flower's, and his father catchphrases.

    Sam

Sam

Sam hails from the Fusion Dimension and has been held against his will inside Academia for about three years despite being on their side. After learning that remnants from the ABC Dimension fled to Standard, he sees his chance of proving to Professor that he is worthy enough to be a front line soldier and travels with Biddy to Maiami City without permission to hunt down any ABC users. However, after meeting his counterpart Jack and hearing the truth about the true nature of his fellow comrades from Sharlene, Sam changes sides and is currently one of Reina's Lancers.

Sam uses a Alterlight deck, which features male, animal-like monsters with a moon theme. Similar to Jennifer, Sam has doppelgangers throughout the other dimensions: Jack (Standard), Ruma (ABC) and Rick (Accel).

Tropes associated with Jack:

  • Alleged Lookalikes: With Jack, Ruma, and Rick. A few friends from Standard mistake him for Jack several times, Jack mistakes him for Ruma briefly until he concludes that Sam is his Fusion counterpart, and Yugo mistakes him for Ruma prior to their first duel.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: Delivered to him by Jack, he never considered there were non-duelists getting hurt in the ABC Dimension.
  • Attack! Attack! Attack!: His approach to any problem in life. When he duels, he focuses on dealing damage, ignoring his own defense. And in Chapter 56, he refused to retreat declaring he'll defeat every member of Security even when they were literally surrounded.
  • Badass Adorable: Not to Jack's extent, though he is cute at times, such as when he pouts in his prison cell, and comes to enjoy his duel with Yugo.
  • Badass Biker: Becomes a D-Wheeler in the Accel Dimension.
  • Badass Baritone: His voice is deeper than Jack's, and Serena is willing to hurt Xyz duelists, regardless whether they are from the Xyz Dimension or not
  • Badass in Distress: Becomes one in Chapter 86 when he's incapacitated with Nerve Gas and captured by Roger's Security Force en route to the Underground Facility. Fortunately, he is saved by Reina and Tara. Later he is protected by Jessica and Biddy. Unfortunately all four fail in the end and he's successfully captured by Biddy after her loss to Walker, once again becoming Academia's prisoner.
  • Berserk Button: People not treating him seriously in a duel.
  • Blood Knight: He is really combat happy, refusing to retreat or anything. It's to the point that in Chapter 59, even Stephanie starts to get annoyed with him wasting time dueling people instead of looking for Jack.
  • Boring, but Practical: His Dueling style due to his belief in having a strategy, he reuses the same tactics over and over again, Yugo comments that he's tough but inflexible.
  • Broken Pedestal: The look on his face when she heard of the attack on the Heartland from Sharlene told us all we need to know how he feels about the Academia.
  • Brutal Honesty: Because of his lack of social skills, he regularly speaks his mind when people have disappointed him like when he mocked Cat for not finding any clues about Jack when he was staying with her or showing his disappointment when he faces off against Yugo and flat-out tells her that her dueling style is flawed.
  • Character Development: During his duel with Yugo, he starts to see the reasons behind Jennifer's philosophy after he begins enjoying himself during a duel for the first time.
    • As the series goes on, Sam is no longer as confrontational as he was when first introduced and learns to appreciate the people who care for him like Jessica and Reina. He also finally acknowledges what Academia is doing is wrong; when Biddy offers to take him back to Academia and sweetens the deal by promising to give him exactly what he wanted from the Professor, he outright refuses.
  • Chess Motifs: Designated by Roger as the White Kindy.
  • The Comically Serious: Sam has his moments in the show when he's not being arrogant. chapter 62 actually shows Sam pouting in his jail cell before being rescued. The special Omake corners that airs at the end of an episode has him either complaining about Stephanie's incompetence or getting flustered by Jessica's silliness.
  • Complaining About Rescues They Don't Like: He's not the least bit pleased that Tara and Hara rescued him and Jack from an attack by the Goon Force.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Her Alterlight deck is DARK-attribute, but he himself proves to be a Well-Intentioned Extremist.
  • Defector from Decadence: He does a Heel–Face Turn after seeing the actual methods Academia uses.
  • Disappointed in You: Says this to Yugo after watching her summon a single monster in Attack Position and nothing else.
  • Evil Counterpart: To Jack. Jack hunts ABC Duelists and seals them in cards, including Helena. Subverted when he learns about the atrocities Academia commits, which causes his allegiance to shift.
  • Failed a Spot Check: He doesn't know how many refugees from the Resistance are in Standard or how they look, so he hunts for any person that can ABC Summon... but always misses Sharlene, his real prey, to the point of walking away from a TV screen after seeing Dova's Trapeze Magician, right before it cuts to Sharlene and her Magic Falcon.
  • Fangirl: She has a lot of these among the Commons in Accel.
  • Fantastic Racism: Like other members of his faction, he looked down on ABC users. Unlike other members of his faction, it's because he honestly believed they're evil; when the Fusion forces were attacking ABC Dimension, Sam was purposely prevented from going by the Professor, and he seems to have misled him as to his actions and intentions.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: Wears a glove on one hand, a watch on the other. After his outfit change, this is no longer the case.
  • Fingerless Gloves: The single left glove. After his outfit change, this is no longer the case.
  • Foil: He's one to fellow Lancer, Sharlene. Sharlene is a survivor from the ABC dimension that has lost everything and in her attempt to get it back has done so very brutal things and has shown no remorse for it. While Sam was protected by the Academia in the Fusion dimension and threw away his home when he was horrified by their actions.
    • She is also one to Jack, both of them are dimensional counterparts, but while Jack is kind, friendly, compassionate, and is always willing to listen, Sam has No Social Skills, is callous, belligerent, has little patience and yearns to prove himself, but like Jack, she has good intentions and after learning the truth behind the Heartland invasion he joined the Lancers. His deck also contrasts Jack's, being aggressive and offensive, relying on a single beatstick while Jack's deck relies on swarming and is much more Weak, but Skilled in his style.
    • Sam contrasts Rick by being by grumpy and a Ladette, while Rick is much more of dueling a TsundereCloserToEarth and Wrench Wench. While both of them use aggressive and dueling tactics, Sam relies on battle damage versus Rick's effect damage, and his Alterlights remain on the field while Rick makes use of the graveyard.
  • Gilded Cage: Implied. Sam is as much of a prisoner and vital part of his plan to the Professor as Ruma and Rick are, but the difference is that he doesn't know it. He only thinks that the Professor doesn't consider him strong enough to be in the front lines so he was kept inside the curiously castle-like Academia and never allowed to leave, with every attempt of escape failing. He only was able to escape this time thanks to the Professor keeping an eye on Standard instead of him for once.
  • Good Costume Switch: After becoming a Lancer he changes his outfit to a set of casual clothes that resemble his old Academia uniform. It involves a less evil looking red-jacket and a white trouser.
  • Graceful Loser: He took his loss to Yugo well, even happily shaking her hand and wishing her luck for the rest of the Friendship Cup.
  • Gravity Master: His summon chants for his Fusion Monsters invoke the moon's gravity.
"Swarm in a vortex of the moon's gravity and revive with a new power!"
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Just like Jack, but for very different reasons. While Jack is normally calm and collected but easily pissed at people's idiocy, Sam is bitter that his potential is getting wasted and hates that people are looking down at or mocking him.
  • Heroic Resolve: He declares that he'll save Jack as Jack opened his eyes about the Academia and it was his fault that Jack was captured.
  • Heel–Face Turn: He betrays Academia and ends up fighting side-by-side with Standard and Sharlene. Sam also becomes one of Reina's eight Lancers.
  • Heel Realization: He's utterly horrified when Sharlene tells him the truth about Academia's attacks on Heartland.
  • Honor Before Reason: Roger rigged his duel with Yugo in his favor by continually altering the course, so he started intentionally passing up action cards, which cost him the duel.
  • Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: With Biddy.
  • Hundred Percent Adoration Rating: He is the only character besides Jack in the Accel arc to be loved by both the Commons and Tops. This is a bit of an Informed Attribute, as we only see him dueling Yugo during the friendship Cup.
  • I Just Want to Be Free: Despite his talent, the Professor keeps him cooped up in Academia and refuses to let him go out on the front lines. He hates this.
  • I Will Only Slow You Down: In chapter 88, he insists Tara and Reina abandon him since he can't move. They refuse. Done again in chapter 91, when he sees how much Jessica and Reina are struggling to keep Biddy and Goon Force away from him and he wants them to run; again, they refuse.
  • Innocent Fanservice Guy: Doesn't think anything of stripping off his jacket when Jack suggests they switch clothes. He probably would have gone further had Jack not stopped her.
  • In the Hood: Keeps a black hood over his face, so he can walk in Maiami City more freely.
  • Jerkass: Before his Character Development, she's rude to everyone he interacts with, such as Reina and his own bodyguard, Biddy. He calls Dova pathetic after he beats her in a duel that she wasn't going all out for.
    • Later he calls Cat an incompetent coward for "staying in one place" and not producing answers about Jack's whereabouts...despite the fact that Cat gave them shelter in the first place and Security is essentially everywhere, with one wrong move leading to them getting arrested...which does occur later.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold:
    • He's grateful to Biddy for going with him to Standard. Drops the "gold" part when he coldly walks away from Biddy after she was beaten in his duel with Reina, showing that he only really cares about himself, despite Biddy being the one decent Fusion user who doesn't take outward pleasure in attacking others nor did anything to prevent him from leaving Academia in the first place.
    • He regains it later when he proves that he's not like her other companions from Academia, namely taking pleasure in the suffering of others. Jack makes him realize that the ABC Dimension duelists had families as well and that Academia went around attacking EVERYONE, not just duelists, which he made the mistake of thinking that all citizens from the ABC Dimension were. He later becomes disgusted and horrified when he witnesses Serena attacking Sharlene, the guy that he was "hunting" all this time, and after Sharlene relates the story of Academia's attack on Heartland.
    • Despite his arrogance, Sam can be seen glowing with pride over watching Jack duel and reacting in horror over Jack's loss to Walker.
    • He later admits to Yugo that he was impressed with her duel with Stephanie.
  • Karma Houdini: Granted, he doesn't stay a villain forever, but he doesn't really get any sort of comeuppance for carding Helena.
  • The Last Of These Is Not Like The Others: Unlike Jack, Ruma, and Rick and their feelings towards their respective "Jessica", he cares nothing for Jennifer nor gives any acknowledgement that he knows her. This is likely due to Leon's interference.
  • Leeroy Jenkins: During the Lancers' duel against Security, he refuses to flee the scene with Reina to get help after Jessica instructs him to do so, leading to their entire group being cornered by Security and almost getting arrested, until Cat and her gang rescues them.
  • Le Parkour: Sam is quite agile, able to leap around his surroundings with amazing speed. He showcases this in his duel with Jessica in Chapter 125.
  • Megaton Punch: Sam delivers a hilarious one to Yugo in Chapter 84 when she tries to hug him; she made the mistake of confusing a counterpart for Rick...again. In the chapter prior he did this twice!
  • Multicolored Hair: Has dark blue hair and two bangs that are light blue, similar to Jack, Ruma and Rick.
  • My Species Doth Protest Too Much: Academia tries to leave Standard away from the war, but Sam hunts everyone that can ABC Summon in Standard, disregarding the troubles that can come from that. While he's just as arrogant and battle crazy as the rest of his dimension, he does not like the possibility of innocents getting hurt.
  • Never Hurt an Innocent: He's appalled when Jack tells him that families were being hurt in the ABC invasion.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: If Sam hadn't been so adamant about searching for Jack (and strong duelists) in a place where Security are constantly roaming the streets for them, he would have never had lead them to where Jessica, Cat and the rest were. As a result, they were all arrested.
  • No Name Given: Supplementary materials first gave his name as Mysterious Boy before his name was revealed.
  • No-Nonsense Nemesis: Being raised in Fusion, this is his primary attribute. He's always very serious in his dueling and hates it when his opponents are weak or aren't taking the duel seriously.
  • No Social Skills: Supplementary materials reveal that he has never left Academia prior to chapter 38 and that he only learned how to duel, but at the cost of learning social skills. Which explains why he believed that every person is a duelist and also him not seeing anything wrong about stripping out in the open.
  • Not So Above It All: Sam is one of the most serious characters in the series... yet special Omake corners after any chapter that features him show that he:
    • Has a fondness for sweets like Serena.
    • Is jealous of Sharlene for having monsters that can fly and wants one too.
    • Can get nervous before a duel and walk off completely in the wrong direction.
    • In the show proper, he was pouting like crazy when the rest of the Lancers sans Sharlene were escaping and when Yugo complains about him saying Fusion (Yugou in Japanese), he yells back to shut up and let him duel.
  • One-Man Army: His entire dueling strategy is about this trope. He summons one powerful Fusion Monster that obliterates the opponent's entire field by himself, but he is mostly left alone.
  • Over-the-Shoulder Carry: Hara carries him in this manner after saving him from being attacked by the Goon Force, much to his displeasure.
  • Perpetual Frowner: In contrast to Jack, Sam is usually seen with a scowl on his face.
  • Pride: Believes his own skill in dueling to be so great that he gets pissed that the Professor is keeping him secluded on Academia. However, this blinds him to the fact that by attacking anyone who's not a Fusion duelist (namely anyone who can ABC Summon), he's causing more harm than good and doesn't think of the consequences his actions could potentially bring.
  • Precision F-Strike: When Dova's true colors are revealed, he comments, "That bastard."
  • Refusal of the Call: He rejects Reina's offer to join her. After seeing Academia for what it really is, he ends up as a Lancer.
  • Screw Your Ultimatum!: Had this response in chapter 90 when [[spoiler:Biddy offered him the possibility of fighting in the front lines if he returned willingly.
  • Serious Business: Prior to his duel with Yugo, Sam didn't view Duel Monsters as a game, but as a duel between two warriors who are fighting for their honor.
  • Smug Smiler: When not frowning, Sam loves doing this to his opponents whenever he gets the upper hand. He keeps showing this off these type of smiles in his duel against Jessica while under the control of the Nurse and his Parasites.
  • Spanner in the Works: His stubborn attitude and pride blows Roger's plan to make him the queen.
  • Sympathy for the Devil: Despite hostilely refusing to return with Biddy when she offers him the chance to come back to Academia peacefully, he is saddened when he sees how far she's willing to go to complete her mission after her violent loss against Walker, even saying her name in a concerned voice before he's forced to return to Academia.
  • Technician vs. Performer: In his duel with Yugo, he's the technician that doesn't take any chance and has a strategy in place compared to his more fluid style of dueling.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Similar to Sharlene, Sam doesn't appreciate being saved from danger, stating that he has the situation "handled" and sees someone helping him out as someone who is underestimating his abilities, which he hates. In Chapter 56, he, along with Jessica, Reina and Stephanie, are surrounded by Security forces; when Jessica offers to distract them and begs him to take Reina to safety, Sam just screams back that he's no coward and he intends to wipe everyone out...despite being surrounded by at least thirteen duelists at once. However, he does at least acknowledge that he'll need to work in a group if he intends to save Jack and protect him from Academia.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: During his duel with Yugo, he starts to enjoy dueling and states he finally understands what Jessica was talking about. Even being worried about Reira in the next chapter when in previous chapters he had been apathetic to her.
  • Twin Switch: With Jack, by using Clothing Switch. They did that to distracts the Goon Force from Sam, so he would have free way to Sharlene.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Also noted in Boring Yet Practical; although he is a good duelist, Sam relies on a single strong monster that attacks over and over again, and generally uses the same tactic.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: It was due to Leo finding him that he learned that Rayn was split in four and started the Divne Project.
  • War for Fun and Profit: Subverted, he rejects Jack's claim that the Academia sees their invasion of the Xyz Dimension as a game.
  • [1]: Wants to impress his mentor, Professor Leon, and make him proud enough to let him fight. It gets a sadder if you realize that Sam is technically Leon's son by virtue of being a fragment of Rayn, his actual son from the Original Dimension before it was split.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: His talk with Jack painted him as this. He fully believed that what the Professor wants to do is for the greater good. And even if the ABC duelists lost, they still had their pride despite losing. He was shaken by the implication of the ABC duelists having families that are not duelists and resolves to see Sharlene to check if its true.
  • Worthy Opponent: Sam originally saw Yugo as this because of her duel against Stephanie, although he changes his mind when she spends her entire first turn summoning a single monster from her hand. In Chapter 85, he revises his opinion once again seeing Yugo as one again.
  • When He Smiles: Although smug, Sam is capable of smiling genuinely; this is best seen when he watches Jack duel with Walker, and he's beaming with pride over seeing his counterpart duel so spectacularly. Later when he starts to truly enjoy himself dueling, he starts to smile for real again.
  • You Fight Like a Cow: In chapter 56, he completely made fun of Security from their similar decks and their decision to call back up against 4 people. He also insults Yugo's more flexible duel style as opposed to his own strategy-based format, though after his loss to Yugo, he realizes that staying consistent all the time is not always the best play.
  • You Gotta Have Blue Hair: His hair is primarily dark blue. He also has two lighter blue strands.

    Ruma Kingswood (Louise Obsidian)

Ruma Kindswood (Louise Obsidian)

A boy that comes from the same place Jen and his sister Sharlene Kingswood comes from: Heartland. Jen mistakes Jack for Ruma when they first met and it implied that they are very close friends given how far Jen is willing to go to protect Jack from danger, on account of how similar the two are. After being spied on by Dova and having his home dimension be nearly destroyed by Academia, Ruma is then targeted by Jennifer in the aftermath of the chaos. Despite fighting bravely, he loses and is captured by the guy, who then gets brought to Academia itself. There, Ruma is successfully infected by the Nurse's Parasite Fusioner until he's freed later after much hardship.

Ruma uses a Lyrical falcon deck, an luscinia-based archetype that utilizes ABC Summoning, but due to The Corruption of Parasite Fusioner, he also uses Fusion Monsters.

Similar to Jen, Ruma has doppelgangers throughout the other dimensions: Rick (Accel), Sam (Fusion) and Yuzu (Standard).

Tropes associated with Ruma:

  • Animal Motif: His deck is based on lusciniae, a genus of singing birds, completing the Kachou Fuugetsu theme of the Watch Boys with his bird-themed deck.
  • Badass in Distress: Defeated and spirited away by Jennifer. Jennifer mentions that his personality was comparable to Jack's, and it is shown that after Jennifer was able to corner him, he dueled her (even if she lost). He (or at least while possessed) later comes extremely close to defeating his sister.
  • Beauty Is Never Tarnished: he has nice coat and jewelry when Jennifer kidnaps him, despite having lived in a war zone for an undetermined amount of time.
  • Blow You Away: Ruma's Lyrical Falcon deck is full of WIND Winged Beast-Type monsters, similar to Ruma's Wind Witch deck being full of WIND Spellcaster-Type monsters. Both decks rely on swarming the field and using damage to whittle down the opponent's life points. Unlike the Wind Witches who use cold, magical wind, the Lyrical Falcon attack with Wind from Beneath Their Wings. However, the wind aspect of the Kachou Fuugetsu principle is not represented by Ruma, but by Rick.
  • Cain and Abel: Cain to Sharlene's Abel, albeit due to being brainjacked.
  • Chekhov M.I.A.: Though mentioned often, he doesn't appear on-screen until chapter 75, and in a flashback at that. He appears for real in chapter 116.
  • Cynicism Catalyst: His disappearance is what drives Sharlene's crusade against Academia, which she mistakenly believes includes LDS.
  • Death of a Thousand Cuts: His strategy is this. His ace monster Lyrical Falcon - Assembly Nightingale at best has 500 attack points. But due to his effect, he can continually attack his opponent directly slowly destroying them.
  • Feather Motif: Ruri wears feather-shaped coat and a feather-shaped wathc, which not only gives him a connection to his sister's bird motif, but is also a hint of his deck eventually representing the bird kanji chou of the Kachou Fuugetsu principle. And indeed, his deck, Lyrical Falcon, is based on said genus of singing birds, and they use feathers to attack.
  • Fragile Speedster: Rima's Assembly Nightingale's effect allows him to speedily use a Death of a Thousand Cuts to fight, but also trends into a Speedy Stone Wall due to his effect allowing it to protect himself as well.
  • The Ghost: Although he has been mentioned by Jen and Sharlene multiple times, he has yet to appear in person. Despite being the first mentioned counterpart of Jack, both Sam and Rick (his Fusion and ABC counterparts respectfully), have appeared on-screen before him. His appearance is finally revealed in chaptere 75. Her proper in-series appearance is in Chapter 116.
  • The Heart: It is implied that Ruma was this to both Jen and Sharlene, His disappearance takes a major toll on the two of them.
  • Heroic Resolve: Even when Jennifer cornered him or the Nurse infected him with a Parasite Fusioner, he refused to go down without a fight.
  • Ironic Echo: When he duels Sharlene and attacks her five times in a row, he counts from the second attack up to the fifth, in the same fashion as Sharlene did when she dueled Dova in the Friendship Cup. And one of those had been for his sake too.
  • Luminescent Blush: In Chapter 124, Ruma blushes happily during his date with Jen.
  • More than Mind Control: Even prior to his infection, Ruma was a bit frustrated with his sister and that he was dependent on her, something that the Parasite Fusioner exploits. His inner consciousness has to fight his dark feelings to overtake his body and save his sister.
  • Nice Guy: Similar to Jack and Rick, he's seen helping people in need. Chapter 104 shows he fully believes that dueling should only be used for fun instead of war. He just smiles kindly when Kaite rescues him, which is then horribly subverted next chapter when he pushes Kaite off a cliff.note  It if wasn't for Sharlene saving the girl at the last minute, Kaite might've died!
  • Resist the Beast: To save Sharlene from losing the Duel and being carded, his inner consciousness trapped in darkness fights his corrupted self. However, he only manages to regain his body for a short amount of time. After his duel with Sharlene, the parasite inside his mind takes him over again when he duels Jessica/Jen.
  • Satellite Character: Subverted, at first most of his characterization revolves around being Sharlene's little brother and Jack's Xyz counterpart. Though flashbacks and due to her friendship Sid note , Kaite, and Aya, and that he went to the Dueling School with them, along with being Jen's boyfriend. During their duel we learned that he and Sharlene had a bit of strained relationship which is quickly resolved within the same chapter.
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: While Kurosaki's personality has yet to be seen before the invasion, he's known for being hot-headed and reckless. Meanwhile Ruri is shown to be kind and thoughtful, similar to Yuzu if Yuto's word is to be taken seriously, which Episode 104 shows to be true. However, they do love each other dearly and Kurosaki is willing to do anything to get her back.
  • Significant Wardrobe Shift: In chapter 75, we see that before the invasion he wore a casual dress and regular shoes, afterwards as a member of the Resistance she's seen wearing much more practical clothes: a tattered feather shape coat, cargo pants and combat boots, the only thing remaining from back then? His feather accessories, including his watch.
  • Slasher Smile: Not as prominent as Rick, but he gives a small sadistic one after watching Kaite plummet to her doom from a cliff he pushed her off of. His duel with Sharlene is half of these, the other half is full of frowning. Starts showing these off again in his duel against Jessica/Jen.
  • Smug Smiler: Under the control of the Parasite Fusioner, Ruma has grown very arrogant and loves taunting his opponents while smiling condescendingly.
  • Technical Pacifist: Ruma hates that dueling is being used for war and fully believes that should be used to make people smile. But he will defense himself if need be as shown in the flashback in chapter 75 when Jennifer cornered him.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Even more than Sharlene. Ruma uses weak Level 1 monsters and weak Rank 1 monsters to battle, but he utilizes the number of Overlay Units he has to fight his opponents. The more units the monster has, the stronger the effect becomes. When used defensively, Ruma becomes untouchable to an extent.
  • Wind from Beneath My Wings: How the Lyrical Falcon attack. They flap their wings to create strong gusts.
  • Worf Had the Flu: Chapter 119 is supposed to be her time to shine by giving Sharlene the fight for her "life". He's almost winning... until the real Ruma pulls a last minute gambit and advises Sharlane to finish him off.
  • Zerg Rush: Literally his strategy. Ruma summons a lot of monsters that have low ATK, but provide a lot of ABC Materials for his ABC Monsters, which then leads to him unleashing their devastating effects.

    Shin Boyle

Shin Boyle

Jack's father and the current owner of Kadic Duel School.

Tropes associated with Shin:

  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Embarrasses Jack before his duel with Mike, by picking a field to highlight his 'cuteness.'
  • Bumbling Dad: Due to his Hot-Blooded nature.
  • Badass Teacher: As the principal of Kadic duel school.
  • Catchphrase: "Burning" and "hot-blooded."
  • Didn't Think This Through: Picks a star-based field for Jessica's duel with Helena... despite the meaning of Helena's name.
  • Doting Parent: He cares very much for his son
  • Eccentric Mentor: He's pretty odd, though well-meaning.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Yara's fangirling is too much for even him.
  • Fiery Redhead: His hair color fits his Hot-Blooded personality.
  • Good Parents: He is arguably the best parent in the series. Having the most screen time out of all the parents, worrying about Jack's odd behavior after meeting Jen and happily cheering for him. Chapter 53 shows he took Jack everywhere and would even stop in the middle of a pro duel to change his diapers.
  • Hot-Blooded: Jessica looked subdued by comparision. Shin even screams the term. His deck even has this theme, Shin is so hot-blooded that his name is even written with burning letters on the Versus Character Splash, a characteristic that everybody else lacks.
  • Heel: He insulting Jessica while in their duel, just when Jessica feels very depressed, it's enough for Jack and the children to boo him all the time.
  • Large Ham: When you can make Jessica look quiet, you're definitely this. And then there's his "manly fainting noises".
  • Opinion Flip Flop: Refused to have Jessica duel Isis until he is offered a new Solid Vision dueling system in exchange.
  • Overprotective Dad: He gets furious when Dova offers Jack a rose or when she does a Bridal Carry.
  • Personality Powers: The Hot-Blooded coach that values team work has a deck of FIRE-attribute monsters, based in different kind of sports and that have effects that increases the number of monsters at his side and protects them of being destroyed.
  • Playing with Fire: His deck's attribute, fitting to his personality and motifs.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Gives a critical one to Jessica for being a pessimist, not being able to accept another Pendulum summoner, and for not coming close to her father's skills. He continues to mock her through their duel, provoking her to be better.
  • Secret Test of Character: Delivers one to Jessica in chapter 14, to get her out of her Heroic BSoD.
  • Shipper on Deck: One could see Shin as this for JessicaXJack. The two have had multiple bonding moments throughout the series, and every time Shin was there, he didn't bat an eye, yet when Dova hit on him in Chap. 44, Shin was furious.
  • Training from Hell: In Chapter 21, he's shown vigorously practicing drawing using a machine that holds thousands of cards.
  • Willfully Weak: Yara says that Shin has all the talent to be a professional duelist, but he considers that there are things more important than winning.

[up], [up][up] @Ghost_Girl

I have just counted the total length of your posts. They are 32 computer screens (320 inches or 26 feet) of text. It would take me 2-3 hours to proofread all of that, which is way more than I have time or desire to do.

Therefore I will do just the last post, Shin Boyle.

Changed verbs from past to present tense as per How to Write an Example - Write in Historical Present Tense.

EDIT: CORRECTED

I'm back, with description and some tropes for a couple of characters

Siam

"Let's do it, Butchie!"

One of the strongest fighters of the Black Cat Pirates, and with Butchie he forms the Nyaban Brothers. They both fight with a pair of clawed gloves, resembling the claws of a cat. He's the quick one of the duo, but also the more frail as he goes down first.

  • Anime Hair: Some years before the events of the Syrup Village arc, he used to have his hair shaped into a spiral antennae. His current hairstyle is still weird, but not as much as before.
  • Bare Your Midriff: Zoro manages to cut his shirt, but Siam has a very slim waist, so he survives with just a sliced shirt.
  • Cats Are Mean: Following his crew's theme, his appearance and fighting style are based off of a cat and he's a dirty fighter.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Fools Zoro into believing he's afraid to fight, only to catch him off guard and steal two of his swords.
  • Cowardly Lion: Subverted. When Jango orders him to attack Zoro, Siam dashes toward him screaming how he's afraid, only to reveal this is all an act to make Zoro underestimate him.
  • Dual Boss: He and Butchie fight together against Zoro, but the "duo" part doesn't last long. Once Zoro gets all three of his swords, Siam goes down in one hit.
  • Gonk: Has a weird cat-like face and a hump.
  • Oh, Crap!: During the fight with Zoro, he and Butchie are paralyzed with fear at the sight of their captain.
  • Spell My Name With An S: Either Siam or Sham.
  • You Gotta Have Blue Hair: His hair is green.

Butchie

"Give it to him, Siam!"

One of the strongest fighters of the Black Cat Pirates, and with Siam he forms the Nyaban Brothers. They both fight with a pair of clawed gloves, resembling the claws of a cat. He's the tough one of the duo, as he lasts more than Siam and is physically stronger.

  • Badass Cape: Arguably the physically strongest of the Black Cat Pirates besides the captain, and wears a cape to show it.
  • Cats Are Mean: He's a member of an evil pirate crew with a cat theme.
  • Dual Boss: He and Siam fight together against Zoro, but the "duo" doesn't last long. Once Zoro gets all three of his swords, Siam goes down in one hit and Butchie has to fight solo.
  • Dumb Muscle: He's the stronger of the Nyaban Brothers duo, but Siam is clearly the brains between the two.
  • Gonk: He's a fat, goofy pirate.
  • Ground Pound: The usual technique is that Siam blocks the enemy so that Butchie can stomp on him with a drop kick.
  • Hulking Out: After Siam is defeated and Butchie resists Zoro's attack, Jango hypnotizes Butchie to make him stronger and he becomes much more muscular. It doesn't help him against Zoro.
  • Mind-Control Eyes: After he's hypnotized, his eyes become completely white.
  • Oh, Crap!: During the fight with Zoro, he and Siam are paralyzed with fear at the sight of their captain.
  • Spell My Name With An S: Either Butchie or Buchi.
  • Stout Strength: It's made clear since the beginning that he's very strong but, once he's hypnotized, he reveals he has quite the muscles under his fat.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: Doesn't wear any kind of clothes to cover the upper part of his body.

    Rayn

Rayn

A duelist from the Original Dimension, Rayn was the original form of Jack and his other doppelgangers Sam, Rick, and Ruma.

Rayn is the son of Leon Akaba. When Leon created four cards decided to defeat Supreme Queen Dragon Zinc, Rayn took the cards in his place and faced Zinc on his own. He was able to de-fuse Zinc from her dragons, but in the process the original dimension was split into the four dimensions. Rayn's soul was split among them as well, and he was reincarnated as Jack and his counterparts.

After much hardship due to the actions of Leon and Zinc, Rayn's spirit was eventually reborn and inhabited Lara's body to do battle with his nemesis. By series end, much like how Zinc was permanently reincarnated as Jessica (with hrt counterparts living on within her), Rayn was permanently reborn as Jack (with his counterparts living on within him).

Tropes associated with Rayn:

  • All Your Powers Combined: It's implied that he mastered Fusion, Accel, and ABC Summoning since the En Nature cards require at least three monsters of each type to be in the graveyard in order to work.
  • Always Someone Better: To Zinc. Both times Zinc started to rampage, Rayn was able to stop him despite the fact that she created Pendulum Summoning to counter him, the second time.
  • Arch-Enemy: To Zinc. Rayn generally let the people of the Four Dimensions make their own decisions but when Zinc's revival was imminent, he was dedicated to his revival to stop her.
  • Awesome Ego: Downplayed as while he doesn't boast nearly as much as Zinc does, he does believes that only he can beat her. But as the Zinc's battles with the Lancers, their allies and Leon show, he has every reason to believe so.
  • Badass Boast: He delivers a great one to Zinc.
Rayn: If you're reborn, I'll be reborn as well! If you’re going to annihilate this world, I'll stop you!
  • Big Good: Since he was the one who stopped Zinc the first time around, managing to split her from the Dimensional Dragons and as Yuta states that Rayn purposely sent his reincarnations to Zinc's reincarnations to stop her revival, he's pretty much this for the whole series.
  • David Versus Goliath: The David in this situation. He was just a pro duelist when Zinc was pretty much a god; he still won.
  • Defeating the Undefeatable: His victory over Zinc...twice.
  • Difficult, but Awesome: The En Nature cards. They are the only cards that can defeat Zinc but they are incredibly hard to pull off. While En Flowers can be activated easily, En Birds need En Flowers to be activated and 3 or more ABC monsters in the graveyard. En Wind needs both Birds and Flower and three or more Accel Monsters in the graveyard. En Moon needs the other three cards activated and three or more Fusion Monsters in the graveyard. But together this negates the effects of ABC, Accel and Fusion monsters and makes them normal monsters and then destroys them.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: Again, his victory against Zinc. Twice.
  • The Dreaded: To Zinc. She's noticeably afraid when Rayn (in Lara's body) reveals himself to her, a reaction she didn't give to any of her previous opponents. Chapter 146 reveals that he's this to the Four Dimension Dragons too.
  • Foreshadowing: When we see the file listing the Revival Zero plan, under Sam's picture we have Rayn-A-001. This is later revealed to be Rayn.
  • Gone Horribly Right: His plan to stop Zinc's revival by sending his reincarnations to Zinc's worked too well. For most of the pairs, his reincarnations became very important to the Zinc's reincarnations. To the point that if they're harmed, Zinc's reincarnation will Awaken from pure rage.
  • Good Counterpart: To Zinc. While Zinc purposefully sent her reincarnations to speed up her revival, Rayn sent his to stop it.
  • Greater-Scope Paragon: To Zinc's Greater-Scope Villain. It is due to his intervention that the Lancers were able to defeat Zinc when she was revived.
  • Hero Antagonist: In Chapter 131, Rayn reaches out to Lara to stop Reina from stopping his revival as he believes only he can stop Zinc's awakening or all of reality will be destroyed.
  • Hero of Another Story: A duelist in his own world much like Zinc, if she can be compared to a female version of Yugi who turned evil, he might be considered a Kaiba turned heroic, who eventually faced her and took her down.
  • Heroic Sacrifice:
    • Twice over. He took the place of his father and faced Zinc to save his life. Then he let himself be split into four to stop Zinc.
    • Once again in chapter 140 when sealed Zinc inside of himself to ensure that Zinc can never rampage again.
  • Identical Stranger: His face looks just like Jack and his counterparts aged up.
  • Living Emotional Crutch: He is this to Leon, since his obsession to bring him back was pretty much what kickstarted the main plot. Needless to say, this gets deconstructed.
  • Long-Lost Relative: He's Leo daughter making him Reina's older half brother.
  • Mad Scientist's Beautiful Daughter: Downplayed. Leon didn't plan of Zinc destroying the world and even created the cards to defeat her.
  • Messianic Archetype: A Big Good that saved the world from the incarnation of humanity's evil desires "dying" in the process and reincarnatingnote  in the new world, and whose resurrection is (on Leon's account) supposed to bring an utopia? Yeah Rayn fits this to the war.
  • Nerves of Steel: Even when staring into Supreme Queen Dragon Zinc, he does not look scared at all.
  • Only I Can Kill Him: Chapter 131 reveals he believes that only he can defeat Zinc, with good reason considering that he already did it once, and so far no one has even managed to touch Zinc's LP. Taken Up To Eleven when Leon attempts to use the same method that Rayn used to defeat Zinc the first time and was defeated instantly. It doesn't end well for him, however. He proves it in chapter 140 when he defeats Zinc again as he possesses Lara.
  • Out-of-Clothes Experience: When convincing Lare to stand up for him, he appears next to her as a golden nude silhouette.
  • Power Nullifier: This is essentially how the Nature En Cards work via completing all its requirements (see Difficult, but Awesome above) they nullify Zinc's monster effects by turning all Special Summon monsters into Normal
  • Reality Warper:
    • A minor example.Chapter 128 hints he had a degree of control of where his reincarnations are sent to, Yuta even states he sent his reincarnations to be close to Zinc's. He can also alter decks like Zinc, as seen when he gives Lara cards for her duel.
    • It's implied that he has some influence on reality during the cosmic retcons that occur when Zinc is defeated. As the first retcon had Leon as the only survivor and the second one had the Pendulum Dimension which included Jessica, who was technically Zinc reborn, lose memories of the Dimensional Wars.
  • Sealed Good In A Sixpack: Well, more like in fourpack, much like his enemy, his soul was sundered and now resides in those of his four reincarnations.
  • The Unchosen One: He chose to face Zinc alone, with only his skills and a handful of magic watch, and he won. His reincarnations might be The Chosen Many, but only because he was The Unchosen One first.
  • Walking Spoiler: Like Zinc, his existence spoils a lot of the Myth Arc and Leon's backstory and motivation. As well as where the watch came from and what they can do.
  • World's Strongest Man: Zinc showed how much stronger she was compared to everyone else and then Rayn beat her making him the strongest duelist on the show.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: An interesting variant where he says this to Zinc. When Zinc states that all she wants to do is create fear, Rayn states that there must have been good in her to have created Jessica's pendulum.

    Yara Sanders

Yara Sanders

Jessica's mother and Yusta's wife, she raises Jessica on her own. According to Jessica, she takes in stray animals.

Tropes associated with Yara:

  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Which is pretty impressive considering how over the top Jessica is.
  • Amazon Brigade: Her monsters are only female bikers. And her old gang was made up of only girls.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: She asks one to Jessica in chapter 52, where she says she'll defeat every enemy, he asks if that includes Serena.
  • Badass Longcoat: She used to wear one when she was a gang leader. She wore it again in chapter 52.
  • Biker Babe: As revealed by Chapter 52. Turns our her deck's theme is this as well.
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: In Chapter 44 she hilariously borrows both Shin's and Flower's catchphrases.
  • Cuteness Proximity: She's absolutely helpless against cute things, either stray animals or cute children wandering her house (i.e Sora). By Chapter 16, she had collected four more pets.
  • Fangirl: She's a Mike fangirl, to the point of being caught in between cheering for Mike or for her own daughter. And now she has become a Dova's fangirl too. She also appreciates Halil's "ethnic appeal."
  • Friend to All Living Things: She takes in stray animals.
  • Good Parents: She is a loving and a supportive mother to Jessica,
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: She's one of the nicest characters in the series.
  • Hidden Depths: Chapter 14 hints there's more of Mrs. Sanders than she shows.
Yara: It's OK now. It's not my turn to chime in yet.
    • In Chapter 52, she challenges Jessica to a duel and used to be a gang leader.
  • In the Blood: Yara states that Jessica's straight forward and honest nature is just like her.
  • Meet Cute: Chapter 52 shows how she met Yusta, her future husband.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Not her but her monsters are attractive women in form fitting leather outfits.
  • Mum Looks Like a Sister: Played With. Serena pretends to confuse her for Jessica's older sister to get in her good graces (she does look fine, though).
  • Red Baron: Shooting Star Yara
  • Retired Badass: She used to be a gang leader, and an exceptional duelist, but now she's just a house wife.
  • Running Gag: In the Battle Royale arc, whenever she's talked to, she'll speak very low and serious to then start fangirling over Mike or Dova while asking to see more of them.
  • Shipper on Deck: She's good friends with Jack to the point she comforted him when Jack blamed himself for Jessica ending up near comatose after her encounter with Jen and Yugo. In the same episode this is played for laughs as they both work together to get Alex to compete in the tournament again and get him out of the room while Jessica is resting,
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: She states in Chapter 52, it was Yuta's ability to solve conflict without harming anyone that made her fall for him.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: In the past, she was a gang leader that happily defeated anyone in her way. But meeting Yuta changed her to the kind woman we see today.

    Raven Claire

Raven Claire

A reporter and duel commentator from the Accel Dimension.

Tropes associated with Raven Claire:

  • Adult Fear: She understandably freaks out upon seeing a child, Serena, clinging to her helicopter's wheels.
  • Bare Your Midriff: She wears a midriff-baring top that fits with her Ms. Fanservice image.
  • Butt-Monkey: She is constantly shouted at while trying to introduce the Friendship Cup's duelists, and gets frustrated with some of what she's told to read.
  • Cowgirl: Dresses in this style.
  • Genki Girl: She's pretty excitable while commenting.
  • Genre Blind: She constantly fails to look ahead to the future in her commentating.
  • Hidden Depths: Some of her words suggest that she's more sympathetic to the Commons than a usual Tops resident.
  • Large Ham: Comes with being the Combat Commentator.'.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She's an attractive, big breasted woman that has a shirt exposing her midriff and wears short shorts. This is justified due to her job.
  • Nice Girl: So far she has proven to be a reasonable person that does not judge other people based on class, in contrast with all other Tops characters up to this point. However, she doesn't see a problem with what happens to the losers.
  • Nice Hat: A cowboy hat for her cowgirl outfit.
  • Wide-Eyed Idealist: She seems to believe wholeheartedly in the Friendship Cup's message.Chapter 71 reveals that she knows the real fate of those that lose in the tournament, yet she shrugs it off as something normal and cheerfully tells Jessica that she just has to win to avoid that fate. However, no one else, including the Commons see this as a problem.

EDIT: CORRECTED

some tropes for the Tonta pirates

for the dwarves in general:

  • Color-Coded Characters: Each main member has a distinctive coloration:
    • Leo wears green clothes.
    • Bian wears pink and is the leader of the Pink Bee Squad.
    • Kabu wears yellow and is the leader of the Yellow Kabu Squad.
    • Wicca wears blue and has blue eyes and hair to boot.

for Leo

For Bian

  • Flight: In her hybrid form, she can fly.
  • Multi-Armed and Dangerous: Gains an extra pair of arms in her half-bee form.
  • Scarf of Asskicking: Has a yellow scarf that resembles a bee's fur.
  • We Need a Distraction: With her army, she causes a commotion at the port to distract Trebol and leave Sugar unprotected. However, Sugar is not as harmless as they thought and the plan doesn't work.

For Kabu

  • Coat Cape: Wears an orange cape on his back.
  • Flight: In his hybrid form, he can fly.
  • Multi-Armed and Dangerous: In his hybrid beetle form, he gains an additional pair of arms.
  • Steven Ulysses Perhero: Wow! The dwarf named Kabu has the ability to turn into a rhino beetle (Kabutomushi in Japanese) and is the leader of the Yellow Kabu Squad. What a coincidence, isn't it?

for Wicca

  • Badass Adorable: She's arguably one of the cutest dwarves (which says a lot) but her strength has also intimidated Zoro, of all people.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Her main color is blue, as all her clothes are blue, and this means her eyes and hair too.
  • Nice Hat: Wears a blue top hat almost as large as her head.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: Up To Eleven! She's a dwarf, which means tiny enough to stand on the palm of a hand, but also strong enough to casually break the ground in a fit of rage.

  • In 1971, Paul Mc Cartney and Wings made a song version of "Mary Had A Little Lamb". In a couple music videos made during the 1970s. The group can be seen singing and performing the song at a grassy field with one of the members herding a flock of sheep. Another version has the group performing inside a farm where a couple of lambs are seen interacting and playing.

  • The webcomic "Little Nightmares" by Miyuli is themed to dreams. The webcomic involves a young nightmare named Ink who doesn't want to end up as the next Boogeyman. Ink travels to see the Sandman who lives at a sandy castle. The Sandman's kingdom is entirely populated by friendly sheep residents who are very sensitive and gentle. Its later revealed that Ink and Jasper actually started out as sheep but turned humanoid as they get older. The nightmare versions of sheep are also seen but are also peaceful.

007 or more known as "New Nana" is real Nana temporary replacement after she forced to resigned from her duty as Plantation 13 caregiver due she receive her old memory back after triggered by Kokoro statement about human relationship and reproduction.

  • Ambiguous Situation: Given she share same codename and hair colour with real Nana, there is possibility she was her clone. The statement from Dr.Franxx that he will replace Nana with "New Nana" and his backstory about his experiment to created the parasites children via cloning process is strengthen the theory that 007 or New Nana indeed real Nana clones.
  • Eyes Always Shut: She never open her eyes or shown her emotion when she explain some stuff.
  • Replacement Goldfish: She is introduce in episode 20 as "New Nana". She no longer to be "replacement" after real Nana is return, but still together with her and Hachi to help the other parasites to rebuild the new life.
  • Stepford Smiler: Type 2. She is empty and lack of empathy toward the other parasite. She will ignore their question if they asking her and only follow APE instruction to her. No wonder why most of fans found her is so annoying and creepy at the same time.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: 007 completely toned down after Hiro and Zero Two departure from the others to defeat VIRM.
