Go To

Welcome to the Trope Pantheons thread! Please read the rules:

    Rules
Rules. The following are not suggestions or tips, but things that have to be followed:
  • When writing a profile, take note of the following:
    • Gods cannot be followers or high priests for obvious reasons. The 'gods' have ascended meaning there is no need for said character to be a follower of another if they have ascended.
    • No hype profiles, please. 'Hype Profiles' are profiles that have been made out of ongoing events and have not been around for a long time. This creates 'hype' due to popularity and certain elements either through certain scenes, memes, dramatic acting or considered overly awesome. They are not bad tropes but building a portfolio solely for that is a bad idea, as they do not say a thing about representing the trope best (unless it's those trope concepts that they are trying to embody for a long time)
      • You can see one if the profile is only showing off how awesome they are or suddenly pushing how 'significant' they are thanks to the just very recent events rather than respecting the longstanding good representations of the trope. And usually having... minimum portfolio or flavor texts and being a bit too generalized or self-contained to events from within their home series instead of interacting with other Pantheon members.
  • When posting in the forum, take note of the following:
    • When you suggest a God, please explain why they fit the trope. Not everyone is going to understand just "X should be the God of Y because they exemplify the trope" off the bat, especially if they're unfamiliar with the work.
    • You must use the Trope Pantheons discussion thread in the forums if you wish to add a new deity, story, something else of importance to the Trope Pantheon canon, or reworking an existing deity (be it simply improving their existing profile or changing their title).
      • For new and reworked deities, 3 [tup] means the profile will have a one week waiting period.
      • For new and reworked deities, 4 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 5 [tup] is an automatic ascension for new and reworked deities.
      • Speaking of reworks, for anyone that wants to improve such profiles, they have to review the current trope the character(s) has and see if it still holds up or if there is a better rep for their trope.
    • For adding new Treasures to The Great Treasury or new Dominions to the Dominions, the following rules apply:
      • For new Treasures or Dominions, 3 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 4 [tup] is an automatic addition to the Great Treasury or Dominions.
    • Do not repost a profile in the forums more than twice in a day if noticeable changes have not been made in between. If a profile is posted a third time in a row without noticeable alterations, it will be downvoted. This is so spamming of no-effort profiles is less frequent and to prevent tropers from getting aggravated seeing the same profile over and over. The minimum acceptable change has to be a single flavour text.
    • The Pantheon is not a mouthpiece for you to voice your opinions on certain characters. You may like certain characters more than others, but do not make the mistake of making profiles for characters you like look like Character Shilling.
    • Tropers new to the Pantheon are barred from approving or downvoting profiles until they have ascended at least two profiles.
    • Do not include fan reception in any profiles. It has nothing to do with the character themselves and will create unnecessary conflict.
    • Write a detailed explanation on why the character is the best candidate for deity of that trope. If people disagree with you, do not force it on the people.
    • Keep in mind that if you still want to try to find a trope for a particular character, you are only given three chances to find a particular trope for them. If a suggestion goes past three possible tropes, then it will come off as shoehorning a character into the Pantheon just for the sake of that character to be there.
      • On a related note, even if a character does have a free trope being suggested, there is still a limit of three attempts for suggesting that character for that trope. If no one responds to that certain proposal after being posted three times, then it will get to the point where the idea will be seen as being shoehorned into the Pantheon. In addition, the idea needs to be considered acceptable and approved because they are good, not for the sake of pitying others because no one is responding to their idea.
  • When posting Pantheon related stuff to the wiki, take note of the following:
    • Do not put a link to these Pantheon pages into the main wiki page. The moment you want to add in a main Characters page that the character is a God of this trope, do not do it. If you see leftovers of this practice, inform the forum and use the cutlist. This also goes to the Trivia page. The only exception to this rule is if a page in the Pantheon could be confused for a page in Main, like Good Colors, Evil Colors and Good and Evil Colors.
    • Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment ALSO applies here. Do not bring things that would incite fights, even if it is what is currently the hot topic and might be 'urgent'. For example, the political scene and some really bad politicians. We are not here to fight at each other, so don't suggest things that go to that direction, this is a fictional Pantheon after all.
    • To add a Pantheon page for a certain work, 4 or more characters coming from the same series/franchise should be ascended before adding the page. For Creator specific pages, 4 deities coming from the same creator and 2 individual work pages coming from the same creator is the minimum to warrant a page.
    • Do not create a trope page for a story until the story is fully completed.

    Instructions and Tips
Here are some tips one should keep in mind when editing:

  • Preparing to write:
    • First thing to do before present a profile is to go to the Trope Pantheons discussion thread. In the forums, you must discuss with other users on adding ideas and seek their approval with sound reasoning. You can also get some assistance in the forum thread by either asking for help and those interested asking if they can help. Submissions that are added without discussion are likely to be deleted and those who violate those rules by adding Pantheon content without discussion will get reported to the mods.
    • If you feel the need to remove a character for some reason (poor quality, outdated titles, etcetera) and replace him/her with another or outright rework, please see what the other tropers think about this in the discussion thread before doing anything hasty. Use good reasoning to see if your idea can easily replace the character present without drawing out your statement or giving too ambiguous claims most do not understand.
    • Please be sure to consult others in the discussion about what you want to work before making the profile. This is done to see if your proposal is the best representative and so, in case your profile is turned down, you do not waste time writing something that others might not find suitable.
      • In the same vein, if you adopt a profile from another troper, it is recommended that you make an announcement that you have done so on the discussion thread. More often than not, a trope that was reserved for something was given away to someone else. Check the Related tab on the top of a page to see if a trope or character has been reserved by a user.
    • If, for whatever reason, you are writing about a God who just happens to be a person in real life, just try to be very careful about what you decide to say. Do not try to make the editing seem too meta (self-referential) and use the aformentioned creativity to create hypothetical scenarios towards fictional characters.
  • When writing a profile for a character, here are a few things to note:
    • All deities should be sorted by their divine ranking. Put Overdeities on the top of the page and Quasideities on the bottom. Also be sure to add them in alphabetical order by their first/given name (can be reversed if it is Eastern ordered). For a group, if there is no official name for them all list down all their names by order of relevance or (if too long to list) title them as Insert Name Here Main Characters or some other identifiable title along the same lines.
    • The maximum number of tropes that a god can have is two, but do not try to abuse that fact. If you need to use a second trope to specify a certain thing about their position, that can be excused either because said character represents their trope choice very well alongside the first trope. It is still generally encouraged to only have one trope.
    • A trope can only belong to one profile at a time. The only time two profiles can share a trope is if there are explicit variations listed in the trope page proper (e.g. Muscle Angst is held by both Biscuit Krueger and Chihiro Fujisaki as the former represents "Too Much Muscle" and the latter represents "Not Enough Muscle")
    • If the character you are about to add to a House already exists in another, make sure to mention that this person has spots in other House as well. Up to 2 places can be made for a deity, with the sole exceptions being those at the Main House to highlight those characters’ importance to the Pantheon’s lore.
    • For a character's theme song, try to avoid calling it "Theme of God X" or "Theme of (Show where God X originates from)". If possible, try to find out if the song has an actual name through research. Most importantly, it has to be part their series’ official soundtracks from media. Do not list songs that are made by fans or outside sources. If they were not specifically used as music for that specific character, then they do not count. Furthermore, it has to be a general theme specifically made for that characters’ appearances, not some generic music that plays for many other instances not related to the character in question.
    • For images, when adding an image for your chosen character, it is highly recommended to use a stylized image that embodies the character or renders that also highlights a character’s behavior (such as cool poses). Most images should be from the main adaptations of the character, unless the images from the other media are of a higher quality than the adaptation. Unless it is needed, do not use fanart for images. If you are, please attribute to the original artist. Due to the website’s dark mode, removing white backgrounds from an image is paramount. This website is suggested to do the background removal. If an image you have takes up too much bytes, it is suggestible to use this site to reduce the byte size. If the byte is still too big, put the compressed image to other sites (or even the same one) to compress even further. Use wikias to look for better images, as even wikias for the series might not contain good official images.
    • Creativity is your friend. While it is not recommended to get too ditzy at your ideas, it is best that when writing a profile for a certain character, do you think of capable scenarios between X and Y. Tip: do not use shallow examples (X wields a sword and Y wields one too) and try to think of relationships that makes sense (i.e those characters that are shout-outs for another).
  • Pantheon Content:
    • Some series or genres will eventually have greater representation in the Pantheon than others. This is unavoidable, but a little diversity helps to make you not look like a shill per say. Try to ensure that if you add a deity from a popular series, make sure that it is because they are a good representative for the trope in question, and not just because they are connected to another deity in their respective canon.
      • As far as deities from actual mythologies, there is generally expectation to build the profiles off interactions from fictional portrays rather than basing it entire from the actual myth. Therefore, a mythological deity should be more of a Composite Character whose main identity is from the actual myth.
    • Occasionally there will be Gods that carry a title without a trope. This is not forbidden, but it is well advised not to abuse them. The only house that a tropeless profile are wholly allowed is the House of Food. Mainly due to most food items lacking tropes, and adding tropes about said foodstuffs is slightly unnecessary. However, the character being ascended for their choice of a food, or food-related thing must be a decently good representative of said item. (i.e their Trademark Favorite Food, or something that they are closely associated with In-Universe, or both).
    • For Dominions and Treasures profiles, always consider what made those places/objects popular in the first place. Were they plot-important, identifiable imagery or have a unique aspect of it? Do not just bring regular objects under the basis of following a certain canon.
  • For Profile Standards:
    • Flavor text is used to describe certain things about a character, place or object. To avoid short ones, it is recommended to write flavor text with 4-7 sentences that can fill around 2 lines each. Be warned that adding too many sentences does not equal good flavor text as it is not an essay of sorts (unless words are substantial and do add to the overall line).
    • Character Profiles of a certain person should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 7 (at the minimum) tropes describing their character.
      • Flavor text count for a deity profile should have by minimum, 10 (depending if the character in question has enough relationships/characterization) to 15 with a maximum of 20-25 for an individual profile.
      • On the other hand, group profiles (profiles of a group that has 4 or more members) have their maximum flavor text count to 15 minimum, giving individual lines for the other members of the group (unless the members are not as characterized) up to 30 at max.
    • Dominion profiles of a certain place should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 5 (at the minimum) tropes describing the context of the place.
      • Flavor text count should range at least 10 to 15.
    • Treasure profiles (inanimate objects without a trope) should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 6 (at the minimum) tropes that describes the object itself.
      • Flavor text count should be at least 7 flavor text up to 12 to constitute a treasure profile.

    Divine Ranking System
  • Overdeity: Omnipotent-level Reality Warpers capable of manipulating the entire universe (or at least the world) at will. Within their own universe they are believed to be omnipotent, or at least impossible-to-completely-destroy embodiments or concepts.
  • Greater Gods: High-level Reality Warpers and that are extremely powerful (capable of destroying or changing anywhere from a large city to a planet at will) and very strong non-reality warpers capable of doing the same thing.
  • Intermediate Gods: Deities at this level are capable of strong but specialized powers such as hydrokinesis, pyrokinesis, etc. without major drawbacks and low level Reality Warpers capable of affecting their immediate area at will.
  • Lesser Gods: Capable of highly specific or little power on their own, or suffer from Power at a Price. However, they may be able to ruthlessly exploit their power or combine it with just being badass enough to make up for it.
  • Demigods: Basically the Badass Normals of the pantheon, making up for their lack of abilities with strength, strategy, and/or planning.
  • Quasideities: Any otherwise normal human, human equivalent, or below without any special powers or training will fall here.

    Templates
Template for adding a new deity:

God X, God/dess of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Rank: This can range from Quasideity, Demigod, Lesser God, Intermediate God, Greater God, to Overdeity, based on representation of power mentioned above.
  • Symbol: An image or icon used to represent the deity.
  • Theme Song: Official song (in other words, no fan music, regardless of quality) that usually is used in affiliation with the character. If the deity is a musician this will most likely be their Signature Song. If possible, give a link for reference, preferably on either a website like Soundcloud or YouTube.
  • Alignment: Good, evil, neutral etc. Forget about The Great Character Alignment Debate here, the Pantheon is one of the few places where you can assign Dungeons & Dragons alignment to characters that don't have alignment system. After all, the Pantheon is based on D&D and is made for fun.
  • For Pokémon deities only:
    • Gender: Defines the gender of the Pokémon; if genderless, it instead defines what gender they identify as.
    • Ability: Provides the Pokémon's ability. If they can Mega Evolve, the new ability is listed as well.
    • Moves: Defines the four moves used by a Pokémon. A Z-Move may also be listed.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the character.
  • Domains: Things that the character has influence over.
  • Herald: Non-ascended loyal character that is from the same series as the ascended character.
  • High Priest: Non-ascended like heralds, but not from the same series, and can serve as a worthy replacement in case something would happen. They can be served as part-time workers in case the originals are busy with some jobs. Co-Godhood is accepted depending on the approval of the originals, usually if the co-deity is from the same series.
  • Followers: Non-ascended characters that are not part of the Pantheon, but would probably worship this character by the fact that they share the ascended character's trope.
  • Relationships between ascended characters go here with your chosen character, it goes something like this:
    • Allies: Members of the Pantheon that are allies, those that share the same values as them and would theoretically be friends with them.
    • Rivals: Members of the Pantheon that are rivals, people who may look at your character with suspicion or a challenge.
    • Enemies: Members of the Pantheon that are foes, those who would see your chosen character as a threat, either on their pespective or yours.
    • Additional Character Relationships: Members of the Pantheon that do not fit in various relationships (examples include Enemy Mine, Vitriolic Best Buds, Teeth-Clenched Teamwork, Headbutting Heroes, Friendly Enemy, Friendly Rival, Just Friends, etc.), allies, rivals, or enemies.
    • Partner: Defines a partnership with an ascended deity and Mon-type. (if any)
    • Feared by/Fears: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon notably fear or are feared by.
    • Respected by/Respects: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon respect or are respected by.
    • Opposed by/Opposes: Not necessarily the same as "Enemies", but this is used for any deity whom the members of the Pantheon directly opposes or is opposed by (basically the opposite of "Respects") terms of certain viewpoints, regardless of alignment.
    • Pitied by/Pities: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon feel pity for or are found pitiable by.
    • Conflicting Opinion: Sometimes, the Deities argue over specific themes and philosophies.
  • Add the Intro. The intro is made up of two trivia, the Ascension Text (or just the Ascension) and The Bio. Both are necessary, but which order you use for them may vary depending on the profile in question. It may be better for one profile to have The Bio first and the Ascension second or vice-versa, although for the most part the order is irrelevant:
    • The Ascension Text: This the story of how the character got into the Pantheon and/or was ascended. There are many ways for this to happen. They may be tricked into it or have simply wandered into the Pantheon, they may have had an already ascended character bring them in, they may already be in the Pantheon (via being another deity's Herald or sharing a trope) and got "promoted", or some combination of the above. Anything is possible in the Pantheon, so use your imagination, but try to incorporate their trope into the story, if possible.
    • The Bio: A brief synopsis on the character's backstory. No need for the character's entire life/production history, but just give enough that those who don't know the character can get an idea of how the character works.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Deities/Characters is 10-15 (15-20 for group profiles) at minimum to 20-25 (30 for group profiles) at maximum.

Template for Dominions profiles:

Place X, Place of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Alignment: Refers to the dominion's role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the dominion.
  • Domains: Things that the place has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the location has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as where the dominion is linked to, note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said dominion, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Dominion is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Dominions is 10 at minimum to 15 at maximum.

Template for Treasure profiles:

The name of the item in here (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Appearance: A shortened description of the item's looks with some notable features also mentioned.
  • Class: Refer to the Treasure Classification System in the Great Treasury.
  • Alignment: Refers to the objects' role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Museum Check: A note that says whether the item is viewable by the public.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the item.
  • Domains: Things that the item has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the item has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as where the item is linked to (especially the original owner of the item), note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said object, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Treasure is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Treasures is 7 at minimum to 12 at maximum.

I added some stuff to Stein's profile. Is there anyone out there who's known for curing mental health, be it through magical or mundane means?

Dr. Franken Stein, God of Frankenstein homages

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/37595.jpg
  • Intermediate God
  • Potential House: Fictional Expies
  • Symbol: The screw in his head
  • Alignment: Chaotic Good, briefly Chaotic Evil in the anime under Medusa's control
  • Portfolio: The only 5 star meister in the DWMA and also a teacher, Creepy Good, completely lacking a tragic backstory to explain his attitude, excellent in various fighting styles, Token Evil Teammate, marries Marie and has a kid with her
  • Domains: Science, Insanity
  • Herald: Marie Mjolnir (his wife)
  • Allies: All of the good Soul Eater Gods, Jack Skellington, Kiritsugu Emiya & Irisviel von Einzbern, Fran Madaraki, Senku Ishigami
  • Enemies: Medusa Gorgon, Junkrat and Roadhog
  • Evil Counterparts: Lord Karl Heisenberg, Shou Tucker, Professor Hojo, Ryoma Sengoku, Relius Clover
  • Annoyed by: Excalibur
  • Respects: Smoker
  • Interested in: Frankenstein's Monster, the House of Otherness
  • Conflicted Opinion: the Bebop Crew
  • Feared by: Oogie Boogie, almost every sane person in the Pantheons
  • Banned from: The House of Life and Vitality
  • Shadow Archetype: Victor Frankenstein
  • Within the DWMA, there's a teacher who surpassed all other students back when he was one himself. Dr. Franken Stein saw countless opportunities to experiment on others and dissect them for his own amusement, either with their consent, or if they're evil. That said, he's still pragmatic enough to kill his opponents quickly without making them suffer. His general appearance and mindset have allowed him to ascend as a homage to Dr. Frankenstein.
  • Upon entering the Pantheons, Stein was pleased to see many familiar faces from his series. Granted, he was pretty subdued about it, they could tell he was happy. Spirit in particular is willing to lend a hand should he ever need a weapon to fight with (provided that he doesn't let his obsession with dissecting get the better of him).
Stein: "Surprisingly enough, Excalibur can match with anyone. Anyone can match Soul Wavelengths just fine, but there's no one in the world who can match personal wavelengths with Excalibur.
  • Due to having to raise a child, Stein has decided to quit smoking, believing it to not be so cool anymore. Because of this, he's had to get into an argument with the Bebop Crew since they seem to think Smoking Is Cool. Spike and Faye are reluctant to comply with this, while Jet is far more understanding in this regard, since he has been willing to bend when this subject comes up. Another God that's known for smoking is Smoker. Since he can turn into smoke, he's a more complicated matter, but even he can just keep his distance if need be. It helps that he's one of the more stable and less hypocritical Marines in his world.
  • Stein managed to get along surprisingly well with Kiritsugu and Irisviel. The latter reminds him of his partner Marie since they're both loving people (though Marie can be a bit too willing to punch someone over her passions). Kiritsugu was also able to quit smoking for a time (presumably because of his daughter) and only went back during a war between Mages. That said, Stein and Kiritsugu can still show their dark sides to their opponents, revealing just how scary they can be (though Kiritsugu is a different kind of scary).
  • Over at the House of Celebration, Jack Skellington took note of how Stein was able to revive the meister Sid as a zombie. This fascinated him so much that he wanted him to participate in preparations for Halloween. Stein agreed, since he was given a chance to dissect Oogie Boogie to learn about what makes him tick. Oogie Boogie was horrified by this, and made a futile effort to run away. When he was revealed to be a literal bag of bugs, everyone was confused, but Stein took it upon himself to collect all of the bugs to study, wanting to learn how he was animated.
  • One of his more relatable interactions was with fellow Mad Scientist Fran Madaraki. They both have a desire to experiment one others, albeit for different reasons. Stein is motivated mostly For Science! despite being a hero, while Fran does it to help people without understanding how much her patients are in pain. She's also impressed at how he managed to resurrect Sid with only cosmetic differences.
  • As much as Stein loves to experiment and dissect, he's still a heroic person, through and through. The thought of someone using similar scientific skills for evil is enough to make him an enemy. Villainous scientists such Professor Hojo, Ryoma Sengoku, Relius Clover and Shou Tucker do not get along as well with him as they'd like to. Stein may be crazy, but he's utterly amoral like they are. Relius and Tucker in particular mistreated their wives and daughters beyond repair, something that even Stein is appalled by. That being said, he is interested in the fruits of their research, as a man of science. He's also not willing to ask nicely for them.
  • In one house, Stein noticed someone who once dressed like a typical Mad Scientist, along with his partner who donned a costume resembling Frankstein's monster. These two are commonly known as Junkrat and Roadhog, and dressed up for a special event where they acted differently. While this was what caught Stein's attention, he ultimately came to odds with them due to wanting to dissect them. Roadhog hates how cruel Stein can be when this side of him comes out, believing people like him are why he's so full of hate. Junkrat knows after "Going Legit" that he and Roadhog are Trapped in Villainy, so they might as well give it their all to try to kill Stein. Just as a fight was beginning to break out, Spirit arrived to back up Stein, under the condition that he doesn't go too far with his insanity. Stein reluctantly complies, seeing Spirit as a more valuable asset than whatever he could get out of the two villains.
  • When it became well-known just how crazy Stein can be at his worst, he was quickly banned from entering the House of Life and Vitality. While they liked the idea of him experimenting on certain villains in that House, the higher-ups thought that would be too painful and excessive, regardless of whether or not they deserve to suffer for their crimes. This merely gave Stein the idea to go to the House of Otherness. There, he'd be less restricted since some of those people are either used to pain or are seen as more acceptable to tamper with. The variety in that House left Stein very astounded, as though he could spend untold amounts of time there.
  • After a long time, Stein came across the inspiration for his character, Dr. Victor Frankenstein. This man suffered the consequences for being obsessing with science. He came to regret creating his nameless monster due to how it came out. Stein considers himself lucky that he didn't make the same mistakes as Victor, seeing his upbringing as proof of his terrible luck. It's enough to make Stein relieved that he has others by his side that he can truly call allies, if not friends.
  • On a more positive note, his meeting with Senku Ishigami was quite fruitful. Senku (who may already be familiar with Stein's world) was ecstatic to see a fellow scientist, albeit one who focuses more on the power system of his world than a more grounded take on science. Regardless, Stein was able to adapt to this, and the two bonded over a common interest in science. Senku was willing to dissect small objects and dead animals to learn even more than he already knew, and Stein showed he could "get excited" and thought the whole experience was "exhilarating".

And now to propose a Trope Change. I think this trope fits better.

Chaos, Unholy Representative of Eternal Villains

Reasoning: It is the source of all evil in the galaxy and orchestrator of all of the bad stuff that happens over the course of the series, and the creator of the previous Big Bads and was also the one pulling Galaxia’s strings. It will always come back due to the existence of the Galaxy Cauldron, and if Galaxia’s words are to be believed, it will come back even if the Cauldron is destroyed as another one will eventually come into existence elsewhere. Because of the Cauldron, it will keep coming back for eternity, over and over again, most likely until it finally wins. It actually is shown that it does return in the far future. It is made of hatred in the Anime. I genuinely think this trope fits Chaos better than As Long as There Is Evil.

  • Most Pokémon, at least in the game, share a generic green-spotted eggshell design. The sea angel/clione Manaphy instead has a sea-blue egg with a red center and yellow dots similar to its appearance as a grown Pokemon. It is also the only mythical recorded seen coming from an egg, and being capable of breeding in a Pokémon daycare (albeit only with Ditto and producing the weaker Phione). Born on a cold seafloor, it will swim great distances to return to its birthplace. It has a wonderous power to bond with any kind of Pokémon. The species is 80% water, making them highly affected by their environment.
  • This Manaphy has been identified as the grown up version of the very same one from the ninth Pokemon movie. Choosing that Manaphy was partly brand recognition, and partly because the Seafaring Pokémon arrived here after actively seeking out its mother figure May. It has decided to identify as male as while it is genderless, it is known as the Prince of the Sea. He continues to guard the sea temple of Samiya and prevent people from trying to steal the Sea Crown. The area serves as his temple, and the Mythical has expanded his communication skills with others from the same 'verse.
    • Because of the rarity of Manaphy and the valuables of Samiya, Pokémon Hunter J considers stealing from it and putting Manaphy on the black market incredibly profitable. With the ability to bond with any Pokemon, J's sheer heartlessness befuddles and horrifies the Prince of the Sea. Giovanni has also regarded the Mythical as little more than a source of profit, and Manaphy is greatly disturbed by what Lysandre has in store or the lows Ghetsis sinks to. By contrast, former villain Archie is deeply fascinated by the Prince of the Sea and Samiya, and has sworn to protect it as part of his redemption.
    • He's generally happy to meet up with Ash again for his part in saving the day, and was impressed to learn he eventually obtained his own Mythical Pokémon in the form of Meltan/Melmetal. Manaphy has remained grateful for the Pokémon Rangers for their organization's part in helping it. Cynthia was invited to explore Samiya so she can better understand the land and Manaphy. Water-type Pokémon are usually welcome, especially Relicanth who's experienced with ancient ruins given its connection with the Regis. One of Manaphy's friends is Nebby, a baby that grew up to an even stronger Olympus Mons.
  • The species Manaphy takes inspiration from, the sea angel, is the same kind of obscure sea slug that the Sea Angels represent. He's implied that the Phione serving as his herald was the result of time with a Sea Angel, though he might just not want to admit to meeting with Ditto; whether Phione is considered Mythical is often disputed, but the connection prevents them from being used in tournaments. The Prince of the Sea's relationship with the Sea Angels remains more casual than anything, however. Sometimes he likes to bring Phione to join in the fun of Splatfest or associate with their fellow mollusks. The squid girl Ika Musume tried to use the situation as one of her schemes, but the Prince of the Sea couldn't take her seriously and was just amused by her antics.
  • Manaphy quickly associated the People of the Waters the sea temple of Samiya to the tales of many seafaring societies with sea-based ruins, but being relatively young for a Mythical admits there's still more he needs to find out about them. To aid him in this, Manaphy picked Milo Thatch as a partner because of his research on Atlantis and important role in saving it from greedy villains like Commander Rourke. After their meeting, both King Triton and Arthur Curry went on a diplomatic appointment to Samiya and congratulated the Prince of the Sea for how well he's managed to run the sea temple despite his youth. The two have since advise him further on his duties as Prince of the Sea.
  • Orm is well-aware of Manaphy's bond with his brother and he wants to get the Mythical on his side, being genuinely friendly and giving him advice on how to rule. While Manaphy appreciates this, he knows about Ocean Master's villainy and fraught relationship with his half-brother so he doesn't trust him. They were in agreement that Black Manta is a blight on the ocean, and he'd certainly try to kill him and May just to spite Aquaman. Manaphy's relationship with Princess Ruto was a lot less difficult due to her being genuinely heroic, and being next in-heir of the Zora's leadership.
  • Ursula is currently seeking to take control of Samiya as her new base of operations. While Manaphy is a Mythical Pokémon, he is still considered young and it's not like the People of the Water are around anymore so he needs help to stop the Sea Witch from usurping his position. Said help would come in Rikuo the fish-man, and Ponyo who's similarities to Ariel has long since played into her opposition with Ursula. Aiding the villain was Tamatoa, who was promised half the "shi—-nees" of Samiya and Anago, who wants to take a Manaphy-like role so his plans of a cult will gain more ground than if it was just him alone.
  • Doesn't like pirates. While some like Luffy and his friends are exceptions to the rule, Manaphy is distrustful of them because of the pirate Phantom having tried to steal him as an egg and steal the Sea Crown from Samiya. The Flying Spaghetti Monster took umbridge at this since pirates are holy to his noodly appendages and not the villains people think they are. The Pastafarian god continued to try and convert the Mythical to his way of thinking, much to Manaphy's annoyance, and that annoyance was only fueled when Samiya got flooded by pasta sauce because the Flying Spaghetti Monster squeezed the cannister too hard after shaking it.
  • Manaphy's (former) signature move is Heart Swap, which swaps stat changes with the opponent using the ends of their head-tails. Another use of this power is the ability to swap people's souls with one another. Upon hearing about this Spongebob got the idea he could try and make Squidward less of a grump by walking a mile in his shoes, and did it in exchange for a free Krabby Pattynote . This went terribly for Squidward since he got jealous at "Squidbob" getting the hang of and being a great clarinet artist while he failed to inherit Spongebob's fry cooking skills and was annoyed by Patrick more than usual. He's still salty about it to this day.
  • By nature Manaphy is a highly empathetic Pokémon that tends to get along with anyone in the Hall of Aquatic Life. Sure he has enmity with Bruce and the Kraken, but only because they keep trying to eat him. The SCP Foundation have observed the Prince of the Sea laughing hysterically after some Friendly Tickle Torture by SCP-999, followed by general cuddles and affection along with the Seafaring Pokémon respecting the blob's immense compassion. The Foundation has so far demonstrated restraint from using Manaphy's Heart Swap on SCP-682, since even if it works it's possible the new personality in 682 might become like the lizard's.
  • Because Manaphy lives in a sea temple and is 80% water, he holds a mortal terror of the Flood and the absolute catastrophe that'd break out if it infected him. He's almost as afraid of SCP-169 since it's an impossibly large sea arthropod who's awakening would be disastrous. The Seafaring Pokémon has come to tread more carefully after learning about Cthulhu and the Kraeken as well, and nobody blames him. It should also go without saying Manaphy avoids any plant or electricity-related gods, and he's no fan of Octogeddon for destroying human monuments for mere insults and the existence of calamari.
  • Due to being native to the sea, Manaphy hates blatant polluters like Mr Burns and especially Hexxus as they would ruin the sea if they win. Mr Burns is a bit confused by this since he thought netting sea creatures into slurry was good for the government and something the Pokémon might appreciate. In order to protect the environment better Manaphy has been supporting Captain Planet. One of the first things they did together was punish Rusty for how awful he is as a Pokémon trainer. Other enemies include any poacher given his rarity and how he already feels about Hunter J, and Surtr who wants to burn the world and regards any water-based being as a nuisance in the way of that goal.

Prepare for a long post. Please read this carefully before creating an argument.

The TV Tropes Pantheon as a whole is a project. It is a Just for Fun project that is maintained by various tropers who are dedicated to the concept. To maintain it, projects in general require planning, foresight and dedication. One aspect all projects share, big or small, is a scope or how much does the project extend into. This part is important because a scope not only outlines what the project can morph into but can help set up expectations for what the project and its contributors can achieve. Now, there is a case for projects to go beyond the scope, where the project has excessive and unstable growth and cannot be controlled by the contributors involved. This case is called scope creep and is a vital issue that I believe is the Pantheon's main flaw, not the speed of the profiles, but what the Pantheon is supposed to extend into.

Scope creep: refers to changes, continuous or uncontrolled growth in a project's scope, at any point after the project begins. This can occur when the scope of a project is not properly defined, documented, or controlled. - According to wikipedia.

Now, ask yourselves: what is the Pantheon supposed to be, or more importantly, what is the core function/root of the Pantheon? Well it boils down to two important cores:

  • What If? certain characters from various media met.
  • Finding characters that best represent tropes of various kinds.

These two cores make up the Pantheon's premise: to represent characters in a Pantheon-like theme, like the same with Greek/Roman/religious Pantheon format. It is why the Pantheon and Ascension terms come into play. To apply these two cores, this is done through each House in the project, where a character is added but has a requirement to add a trope into their title to have entrance. This is how you apply both of them in one concept.

With the core functions mentioned, where does the remaining Pantheon pages align with these core functions? The Grand United Alliances, various organizations (Order of Humanity, Harbingers of Repression, the Groups page), and other pages such as the Pantheon Nanos, Personas, Landmarks, Mon Relationships and Name the Same page. None.

Scope Creep, the Pantheon and its long-term consequences
  • Scope Creep is an important term here because these pages are the representation of that exact issue the project is facing. These pages do not add anything new to the core roots of the Pantheon but instead add extra workload that may seem redundant for many. The original Greek and Roman Pantheons never had specific groups based on alignments in their Pantheon stories. It was only focused on giving deities titles based on their specialty. The pages mentioned have no additional purpose other than fulfilling one niche for a story, the Grand United Alliance pages in particular were only created in 2009 as a backdrop for stories but never fulfill the role of filling anything within profiles in subhouses. Instead it creates a conflict exclusive to a tale and nothing else, hence all the Year 1 stories being contained rather than contributing anything to the profiles that a part of it.

  • This goes to my next point: These pages, if anything, contributes to the Pantheon's desire to be an "Epic", where every deity, regardless of the media that originated from, will be part of a fight that will never happen. The stories never happen because they can be easily written out or retconned, or perhaps never acknowledged by the writer of that profile. This is in addition to differences from the contributors, will the same storywriters even be a part of the Pantheon for more than a year? What about other criticisms of the tale presented? What if something changes from the canonical interpretation of the character? It creates unnecessary inconsistency and strain from the project. There was a statement made by Necromancer10 about this issue. No matter how much you want to rework the deities, it depends if you want to keep the "Epic" Pantheon mentality alive. And quite frankly, not all of us are on board with bringing profiles of our own into what essentially boils down into a nothing war.

  • The third and perhaps most damning point I want to make is that by proxy, creating these "Epic" pages creates a "Stockholm Syndrome"-esque attitude where contributors are scared to delete anything from these pages even if these things cannot be fixed and have good reasons for being such. This comes from a root that by deleting something, not only have you hurt the person's feelings but the sense that your work goes to waste. In any project, you have to consider that there are things that cannot work so easily and that you have to learn when you should cut your losses and accept defeat. Some things cannot stay in the Pantheon forever whether through bias or something else. It has to go because it is vestigial in the long run. As one moderator said: "If the work is poorly done, no claim of hard work should save it."

  • In short: These pages do not contribute to the Pantheon project, mainly because it only serves as backdrop and nothing else. There is no intrapersonal connection and it is only there to serve a niche. In addition, the content on these pages are rendered moot based on the participants, which can either lead to poor profiles that are prime for deletion or replacement, sometimes it may change due to a character shift in the media they exist in. The nature of these pages is akin to Parasitic Design in MMO games; a design where the system only exists to leech the core aspect of the game but gives nothing back in return. In comparison that these faction pages mention the deities but never are they mentioned in the profiles themselves. Another good comparison one can think of these pages and the contributors desire to "rework" these pages is Sunk-Cost Fallacy, where the work is already there and that despite all the flaws and baggage said page has, the contributors want to rework it, despite knowing full well how flawed and time-consuming it is. It is already 2022, and the TV Tropes Pantheon is stuck on the mentality that more of such pages will make the project better without seeing that the roots/foundation is heavily shakey at best and outright stressful at worse.

    Arguments
  • These pages are for worldbuilding - No, this is a common excuse I have seen with the responses I get when it comes to the preservation of these pages. As seen with other media, worldbuilding is only good if the characters are connected to your world and that there is agency. In the Pantheons, the characters get no mention of Tales regarding the Grand United Alliances or other factions and are only close-knitted on the story, never being mentioned on the profile as a whole. This undermines the whole worldbuilding aspect if the profile in question never participates in your group.

  • You just hate 'X', so you prefer to delete it - No, if you removed all the bias and go to a rational perspective, these pages bear no fruit at the end when it comes to the profiles it mentions. Story mentions in the flavor text of most profiles that participated in the Tales Act I and II have either no mention or removed, which means the story means nothing. Same with the faction profiles, most of the profiles from the Hounds of War never have mentioned the faction in their portfolio/flavor text so that is also crossed out. Take away all favoritism and you can see that these pages provide nothing when it comes to these pages.

  • If this project is Just for Fun, you are killing the fun here - There comes a point where it stops being fun for the people actually trying to work because others are just trying to add more to it without taking into consideration the long-term consequences of such ideas. Again, the combination of scope creep and Stockholm Syndrome makes it all the more difficult for people to accept that things cannot be kept and this keeps repeating, until there is nothing to keep up with. All these extraneous pages that are not Houses and Halls/Subhouses that have been created do not do anything other than make the Pantheon more unmanageable than it is. People should accept it and cut their losses, an example being m1gami and his reasonings to kick out Moist Critical for legitimate reasons.

  • You are killing the motivation people have for this project - The Pantheon can be considered a long-term project given how long it can take to put out good quality work via profiles, through research and other changes to canon/liberties of the character involved. It will take time and will require the cooperation of everyone involved, but improving the overall quality of the Pantheon profiles will be beneficial to everyone regardless of how they feel about things they like/made getting axed. Anyone entering the project should at the very least have some form of responsibility and dedication when entering it, and alongside the mentioned points above, adding more actually makes things more problematic with both responsibility and dedication taking the backseat while putting filler in the focus.

  • Why would you delete Mon Partnerships? - All that it is doing is just adding an extraneous element with a story that means nothing in the grand scheme of things. When it comes down to Pokemon (not the already-existing trainers), there are regular Pokemon that exist as a species and the Legendary/Mythic Pokemon that are more or less one of a kind. In the context of Pantheon profiles, a regular Pokemon (again, not Legendary/Mythic as there appears to just be one of them) would be representative of the species as a whole and not merely just one specific member of its kind. A Pokemon being someone's partner is no different from it being someone's ally, no matter how hard you try to word it out in the page.

  • The Pantheon is a collaborative project and it looks like you are trying to force a set of demands that only you will be happy with - It was through said collaborations and agreements in the past that led to these extraneous pages being added and messing up what should have been an easy-to-follow foundation of the Pantheon (that is, suggesting and writing character profiles). Only through genuine understanding of these issues plaguing the Pantheon can these issues be rid of. In addition, other tropers, wootzits and r-lock have also contributed and supported the notion of deleting these pages because it takes away the focus of making profiles and instead adds unnecessary information that will only benefit the small storytelling few.

  • I do not care how good your arguments are. Someone will find a way to complain about it and point out what is wrong with it - Complaining about legitimate fixes that are being suggested, like what is being proposed right now, will not accomplish anything and only lead to more problems later on. There comes a line where it threads between complaining about legitimate issues and complaining for the sake of protecting a fatal flaw that can cripple the project to a creative halt.

  • You are just shutting out people who are trying to make a defense of something at this point - Making an argument for why something problematic in the Pantheon should be kept is just wasting time. The Pantheon cannot move forward unless everyone acknowledges that there are issues with the extraneous elements present, as mentioned that it is currently 2022 and there has to be a great change if we want the Pantheon to move forward away from the "add everything to become an Epic crossover" mentality and that we are dedicated to solve these issues first and foremost.

    Possible Solutions
  • Reworking all profiles: All this issues with the Trope Pantheons and other pages can be traced back to the core and roots of the project, the individual profiles that have been left to dust and never picked up, nor updated. The best and most ideal solution would be to focus all attention on profile making, be it reworks (most ideal) or new ideas. This way, we can focus on which character gets the trope and which deserves to stay and get booted out. Remove all notion of storytelling and worldbuilding and focus on the characters first and foremost.

  • Removing all vestigial pages: By removing these pages from the Grand United Alliances and other faction/other pages not related to profiles, we can keep the space and use said space to dedicate more on the former. Most of the issues of the Grand United Alliances boil to "closed" storytelling where the story never gets mentioned outside of the Wordpress website, this means the factions themselves can be transferred instead to Wordpress rather than clogging the website space.

I have an old profile of mine I would like to rework and improve

  • Satan, God of Loser Devils: a rework. South Park's Satan was one of my early profiles and as such it has really shown its age, so I would like to improve it. In South Park Satan is kind of a push over. He was an abused partner with Saddam Hussein, is somewhat whiny and even God called him out for no longer being the headstrong rebel. He's pretty nice for the lord of damnation and is sometimes a badass, but in villainy and hardness he's lacking

[up][up][up] As someone who'd be less affected by such a big purge, I do think that a less absolute method is possible to move on the Pantheon's scope creep problem. I don't intend to defend the Alliances as much as offering a better way to directly address the problems they've caused. The Alliances and the war-like conflict between them doesn't deserve any spotlight over the profiles, yes, but I want to state alternatives to making the Alliances removed from the old "War of Badasses and Epicness" that old Pantheon standards tried to set up, which would focus on certain standards that are mandatory to get rid of and prevent scope creep:

  • Decentralizing the Alliances: I'm dead set that none of the whole "worldbuilding" set by the Alliances, let alone Stories, should have any major influence on the profiles. Interactions between profiles and secondary writing should be mainly one-way, with profiles being the influencer, not the influencee. Making the Alliances significant to profiles in any way would eventually lead to organizations and alliances making profile creation harder, which is what any solution should prevent. The Alliances can be good for convenience to refer to sets of deities with similar goals or traits, if it's something the character would do regardless of Alliance presence. Anything further to that should be made more exclusive to Alliance-related writing and not the profile. More importantly, the Alliances should be written to be secondary events based on profiles at most, since anything more than that will make people see the Alliances as some universal requirement for profiles to get involved in, which is a big no. When newcomers see the Pantheon, the two main core concepts you mentioned should be the only thing they need to care about. The Alliances, if properly redone to organize deities of alignments and roles without trying to be the main event, can be kept as a tool of convenience for profiles, and something for the more genuinely interested users to expand through profiles, and only said interested users, and nothing more.
  • Mundanifying the Alliances: While most users here I'd say have moved on from hype-based writing, there is a lot of Pantheon writing that focuses on warfare, groups that are based around big dramatic conflicts, and little care for the more mundane or incomprehensible parts of the Pantheon. A lot of parts here do need deletion, and replacements with more general occupations that relate to Alliances' alignments. Many of the changes I want to propose for a rework intend to pretty much kill any urge to use the Alliances for character or franchise shilling for good, on top of preventing the Alliances from just being a showcase of popular and hip genres and franchises, let alone leave room for much writing biased toward talking about characters' epicness or badassery.
  • Also, on your third point, I do agree that there is going to be a lot of controversy on what should stay or be removed, and it's probably why you think an absolute widespread deletion is necessary. What I hope is to figure out the precise standards of which future writing for non-profile content should be set to, and proper discerning between what can be reworked to fit set standards and what has to go regardless of others' objections. As far as what I've figured out for my resolution toward a rework, there's certainly going to be plenty of content removal going on, but I intend to present a line for current and future writing to go by to keep writing set away from past mistakes and temptations, having fallen for some of them myself. While I understand or agree on a majority of your arguments, and think that either a major and impactful rework or purge would be better in the long-run, but I want to give my input of what I think is a better resolution.

Changing The Purpose Of The Alliances And Leadership
There will be no more Eternal War between the Alliances. Period. The only Alliance battles will between everyone else and the GUAD being the infrequent threat, but that is it. The Alliances would be better off doing something that could care less about it: Understanding the deities' responsibilities in the Pantheon. Instead of just fighting everyone from the opposing alignment and their moms, each GUA simply tries to set its own standards and goals for the type of Pantheonic community they want to set up, begrudging working in parallel with other Alliances doing the same, but focusing on their own goals instead of trying to step on each other's, most of the time at least. No more, no less.

Leadership for Alliances will also have to be split into several members with ability to contribute beyond "I lead the charge" and "Change da universe lol", taking on responsibilities that don't necessitate being an Overdeity or Greater God. As much as this forum complains about YHVH and SMT, the leadership of the Alliances and the influence they have is the main problem, with YHVH just being the fattest tick. No deity should be allowed as much influence on the writing, ever. With these changes, members of Alliances are no longer "really cool people with a strong alignment", and more "deities that have something relevant to contribute relative to their alignment". Any deity from the old Alliances that doesn't fit will go and rewritten to cut all unnecessary Alliance association if needed.

This type of function would allow the Alliances to be more genre-spanning, and less focused on the powerful and badass deities who try to change the universe and everything. If you liked the Eternal War setting of the Pantheon, too bad. Any rework that wants to move on from the problems of the past needs to leave behind the attempts to make a big war narrative that is biased towards the action and drama heroes, villains, and leaders in the Pantheon.

Lowering The Scope Of The Alliances
On top of my stated changes for Alliance leadership, and more mundane purposes for the Alliances, I also think that Alliances should stick to specific aspects and desires related to their respective alignment. This means that all franchise-based or genre-based groups in the Alliance must be transferred out or removed. Genre-based groups can be separated into their own little section for convenience to profile making, but the Alliances should stick to being about serving toward the alignment and not being "everyone who fits in the alignment". If deities have to be removed due to no longer fitting the changed standards for the reworked Alliances, then so be it.

Additionally, groups based off of things related to House-wide topics and subjects shouldn't warrant their own Alliances. Any group based around deities fitting a House's theme, which would include the GUAM or GUAN, should be just replaced, reworked, or perhaps, centralized to the House's writing. Or perhaps give these types of groups a separate type of movement-based page, but I am still figuring this one out.

As for more miscellaneous groups, I'm still on the fence, but I still intend to have them subject to the same relative scope. If they become more of a burden for profiles to handle, or feel like something they don't want to "miss out" on for reasons other than genuine interest, then revision is necessary.

I'll admit, it's gonna be a rough time to sort out the reformables to the unsalvageable. It may take some months, though we'd rather not take immediate action, and wait until we've caught up on things like reworks. And depending on how contested and argumentative we get over choosing new sets of leaders, or if some users persist in trying to make the Alliances the big display of the Pantheon, if it ends up being too hard to move on to a rework with more decentralized and genre-spanning, and less drama/badassery-promoting Alliances, complete deletion may be a considerable alternative if many are too stubborn.

[up][up] I’m down with this, and this actually highlights a big issue with the Pantheon.

For all the talk of how the Forever War is massive in scope and completely epic, rarely if ever, do the Deities act like it’s even going on when you read the profiles. The gods are almost always doing their own things and meeting up with other divinities in ways that do not involve the war at all. You never here about a god gearing up for war or meeting other gods as war buddies, leaving the war as a footnote when it should logically be the biggest deal in the history of big deals.

Also, I think the alliances might benefit from a ranking system independent of the Divine Ranks that reflects their actual standing within the organization rather than their Power Level.

@Hanama, you contradicted yourself with your own statement. The Grand United Alliances serve as a What If? with all these characters from different worlds meeting, with the characters dedicated to their morality more so than others teaming up to protect their ideas. While I can understand the deletions of Landmarks, I still feel like the problem is going to circle around with people asking just what is in the Pantheon, and thus needing this page to come back. I can be swayed by the idea of the Mon Partnership being erased, even if I still believe it follows the What If? philosophy of having random characters meeting Pokémon and becoming their owners. I do understand and agree with the idea of the deletion of Pantheon Nanos, Personas and the Names The Same pages being deleted (and I thought we already deleted that Personas page and all mentions to it).

While I do understand the deletions of Nanos, Personas, and Names The Same page, I'm still iffy on fully deleting the Landmarks and Mon Partnership (especially the former if the Pantheon is going to become an "epic", then some locations will be needed to liven the world up), and deleting the Grand United Alliances is still a flat out no from me. I do agree that the alliances shouldn't hold that much sway over the profiles, but I'm also set on feeling like deleting everything would be like throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Plus, you're only still talking about stuff you want to delete without saying what you want to add in their place. I do think Necromancer offered a better solution, with the Alliances becoming less focused on, stopping the whole Forever War business and having them focus on smaller affairs tied to the houses best suited for them. It would minimalize their scope yet still give them something to do.

Time to rise and shine. Good morning!

Now good thing I never actually typed anything into the flavor text of YHVH and Lucifer yet and now I’ll just wait since this looks like to be the endgame regarding these things.

I actually agree with Hamtaro that the GUA stuff hasnt really brought anything but more arguements to contend to (I have fulfilled my Character Development of agreeing with him now). I only offered the idea to rework the GUA stuff because there so much adamancy on keeping it there but I am bombarded lately over YHVH profile. So many are obsessed how this yellow Simpson’s role in the GUA stuff by people who barely contributed to the Pantheon outside of it, I really wonder if they would care about the Pantheon the GUA stuff was removed. I cant tell if thats a good sign.

As a guy who made the Pantheon Nanos, it was a good idea at the time with a unique concept that is still to me pretty cool. But it just devolved to more DB shilling because I and others couldnt bother with it. Its the same thing that happened to Scepter Upgrades and even the rules I placed there were ignored. This kinda showcases no matter how hard we try to fix something, someone will just open the floodgates to repeat it. I am hotdogged between either trying to make people happy with reworks and realistically knowing that we are just extending something we’ll keep fighting over.

I just wanna freaking go finish off my sandbox so I can rework most of the stuff I made. Yeezus, I just went through the Swamp of Sorrow and like that, I just want this argument to reach a conclusion.

Wait until end of 2022 where Hamana argues that making profiles does nothing to contribute to the scope of the Pantheon.

Purges, Purges Everywhere...

But seriously, why do I get the feeling that some people on here just aren't interested in creating crossover stories but instead just want a list of characters that are the best representations particular tropes. I get that things get convoluted frequently with tropes changes, character deletions and developments within ongoing stories. But my assumption is that the Pantheon is not just a list or compilation of different medias, but a fan made Massive Multiplayer Crossover of epic proportions.

Because things are not shackled by lawyers, copyrights or even language barriers, you guys created something so creative and so beautiful that I hope that people are creating changes, not out of arbitrary reasons, but to improve the system so that it makes it easier future tropers to participate this half-baked experiment.

I just hope that most tropers (regardless of biases, intentions motivations and actions) try to remember number one rule when you contribute to the Pantheon - It's Just for Fun.

Sorry for the rambling but I hope that the changes coming (whatever you feel those changes should be) are out of good intentions.

Everyone here has the best intentions for the Pantheon. Even the guys who want to delete it. Difficulty is differentiating if those good intentions are out of a selfish need or the genuine foreseeing betterment.

Considering that GUA pages has not been updated significantly as we want to like adding pictures and folders even though we said we would for the longest time, its an indicator to me deep down that nobody really wants to bother to do it at least willingly. I know time exists but first steps are important and if nobody wants to.

Considering my reworks right now, we’re at a perfect crossroads moment

The alliances and stories are more like supplementary tales for me. Fun and have some impact on profiles, but it feels more up to you how "canon" they are...in what amounts to fanfiction

[up][up][up] Regardless, the profiles were the main point of the Pantheon in the first place, and with how the scope creep is becoming a bigger problem to newcomers and others writing profiles that have no reason to be involved in huge conflicts, the current Alliances and their reckless ambition is bound to muddle newer writers about having to deal with alliances and big-shot groups that complicate work even when there wouldn't be a need to get involved with the Alliances. And getting potential feedback swamped away by discussions on Alliance leadership. Doesn't sound fun, does it?

As interesting as the Alliances can be, if they're getting in the way of making profiles, which should be the main appeal, instead of helping, there's a need for some change to be done.

[up][up]See, this is why I think something like the old Restructure thread should come back. Have a forum to talk about the story-elements and argue about characterization while the main discussion is done for developing and reworking the main article of profiles

[up] Honestly, that sounds like a good idea. That way, profiles (both new and reworks) won't get ignored if people are busy debating about reworking the lore, GUA's and other things about the Pantheon.

By the way, I'm interested in updating the Pantheon Landmarks so the entries aren't so barren and laconic.

Okay, time for a breather and response to the established points:

  • @Clovis and @Excessive. I believe one thread is enough. I would like not to attract too much attention to other tropers because our centralized thread was split into three threads. Plus, as I said before, projects in general must have stabilized management. Splitting it into fragments will only hamper management since you have to keep track of the other thread. This is also so that everyone who are contributors to the thread will be notified of the next course of action, that being reworking and deletion of these pages.

  • @Thomas. No, it will be absolutely unnecessary. I suggest we fix the roots before doing other "spinoffs" for that matter.

  • @Phantom. The second core of my argument and what is says in the title page of the Pantheon clearly states: Finding characters that best represent tropes of various kinds. So yes, it is originally meant to be like that as mentioned by Whirl. Also, to continue with Necromancer's response, trying to manage the profiles with the alliances/groups will only make things worse for people not interested with those and only reinforces bias towards certain franchises and series, something we have been adamantly trying to remove.

  • @TPPR. I would kindly ask you to leave if you will continue your passive-aggressive notion. Notice how I have become more blunt with criticism because of how deep-rooted most of these problems are. Oh and just to clarify, this is not a problem I have, but with multiple tropers that I have contacted with. You may pack your bags and leave if you are against the un-Epic-fying of the Pantheon.

  • @kingvideogames and @Gigan. Unfortunately you did not read the entirety of what Necromancer offered.
    • For you kingvideogames, you forgot the second core of the argument: Finding characters that best represent tropes of various kinds. The argument I posted showed that the profiles fulfilled both core aspects without removing the other. The groups, pages and alliances only serve one of the cores but not the other so it is less of utilizing it and more of excluding it. Also, as mentioned in the arguments portion, the worldbuilding or as what you said, the "What is the Pantheon all about" is worthless if the profiles and characters in question are not developed. Oh and just to clarify: Pantheonic Personas is still active despite the approvals to delete it.
    • For you Gigan, I have noticed that your continued defense and reworking of these pages is starting to pile up. The argument I offered was never just about the Forever War, it was aimed at the nature of the pages in question, which is why I included the other pages and factions because they served no purpose other than niche interests. This is not only exclusive to me but both r-lock and wootzits, of which I contacted to just to outline the post in question, have also stated their annoyance with the reliance of such pages. We just want to create profiles first, then create these pages secondary, as is the intention of the Pantheon. Also, as I offered, these pages can instead be transferred to the Wordpress website if you are adamant in defending them.

  • @Necromancer While such proposal is organized, I still believe this is more of buying more time than say solving the root problem. As I mentioned earlier, cutting your losses is an important step when it comes to most situations, as not everything can and will be salvaged, especially with how deep-rooted these problems comes off as. Your suggestion is to lower the Alliances/factions' roles but that still leaves the page within the project. But why mundanify the groups when you know, you can just state on the profile itself about the relationship of another character without the group as a medium, which I argue is the simplest answer that has been staring at our face for a long time, and that as I said, the original inspiration of the Pantheon (Roman/Greek Pantheon + Dungeons & Dragons alignment and power-level + tropes) never had alliances/stories of such caliber. I still agree that the Forever War was a mistake and that if the odds are against us, complete deletion is necessary, especially if we, the Pantheon editors want to move on from this mess that our foundation has. It will be slow but it will be the top priority.

As much as many people want to continue their usual schedule, I want many others to think about this before going "bottom page" and whatnot. We are at a crossroads because this problem has been persistent throughout 10+ years of the project's life cycle and everyone has to contribute, as this problem would have never happened had the Pantheon been organized with a leader. Which is why I would take responsibility as the Pantheon's "leader" if it needs to be, as there are many flaws with the Pantheon and its status (profile-stacking, recency bias, tribalism within Discords) that I want to remedy, even if some may see it as "protuding and annoying". This is for the betterment of the Pantheon, whether you have your biases or not.

[up] I'm of the opinion that there shouldn't be any "leader" regarding this project as a whole. That kind of responsibility would require a lot of time and effort to maintain, which I doubt any one of us would have, plus it would be more stressful with all of the other duties to maintain such as profile making alongside looking over the entire project. Also, I doubt there can be a permanent leader since there might come a day they would leave the project for some reason, and they might abuse their leadership power to input/change/remove stuff without asking for consensus first.

To avoid a possible "I am the Pantheon" moment on this site, there needs to be a system of checks and balances where no one contributor has all the power to make mass changes without having the majority approval from the other contributors first. Also, having appropriate and respectful arguments to back up their agendas without resorting to verbal attacks and prevent Flame Wars is very important to maintain civil discussions about how imaginary characters would interact with each other.

I guess what I'm trying to say is "Who watches the Tropers?"
