Playstyle: Unstoppable Bio-Terror (Stance/Spearhead)

  • The Assimilator: Alex can "consume" his victims by absorbing their biomass into himself, allowing him to take on their appearance and memories. If his opponent is organic, Alex will consume them in his "Feed the Plague" Fatality.
  • Commonality Connection: Averted. Despite his similarities with Carnage and Shang Tsung, Alex hates them since he sees himself as superior to everyone else.
  • Crossover Power Acquisition: In his ending Alex defeats Mastermind by taking powers and memories of other combatants.
  • Genetic Abomination: A bioengineered virus that took over the corpse of Alex Mercer, took on his identity, and is capable of using Lovecraftian Superpowers and the ability to consume his victims

  • Worthy Opponent: He regards Superman as such for managing to lift a book with infinite pages and lifted eternity.
  • Yin-Yang Bomb: By combining red curse technique and blue cursed energy, Gojo can create his signature Hollow Purple.
  • You Remind Me of X: Both Ichigo and Aizen note that he reminds them of Kisuke Urahara.

  • Armor-Piercing Response: When Rick ask her why would anyone be attracted to someone so horrible as her, Makima points out that she's not the only one with Misaimed Fandom.
    "Why would anyone date me? The same reason anyone would aspire to be YOU, Sanchez."
  • Assist Character: Can summon Reze, Katana man and Flamethrower Hybrid.
  • Chain Pain: Her Control powers manifests as normally intangible chains, but she can use them for attacks as well.
  • Deal with the Devil: Literally. She offers to help combatants with all of their problems if they agree to serve her.
  • Death or Glory Attack: Her super-move "Usage 1000 Years" can be a guaranteed One-Hit KO, but it requires a full Super Meter to use. It can only be used once per round, and if Makima misses with it, she can't use it for the rest of the round.
  • Devil in Plain Sight: She hardly hides her villainous status, but people are drawn to her because of her beauty and her status as the Control Devil.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: She despises Unicron because he's evil for sake of it.
  • God of Order: She's the demonic personification of order and control.
  • I'm Taking Her Home with Me!: A dark example. Several of her win quotes involve her taking in her defeated opponent as her pet.

  • Everyone Has Standards: While he has very diverse tastes in partners, even he is confused when people would lust after psychos like Esdeath and Makima, since they're more likely to mutilate them than have sex with them.
  • Leitmotif: “Rick and Morty Theme Remix” by Vlada Len
  • Medium Awareness: Much like Deadpool, Rick is aware that he's a fictional character and it shows in his intro and outro quotes.
    "Welp. Guess it’s my turn on this Death Battle thing. I’ll keep this quick."

    • His intro to Superman and Goku has him note how Death Battle is doing a third episode between those two.

    • His outro to Batgirl has him say that losing to him isn't as embarrassing as how badly she was treated in Batman: The Killing Joke.
      "I'm talkin' about the movie, but the comic still fridged you for YEARS."
    • His intro and outronote  to King Mickey has him take pot shots at Disney's monopolizing of various companies and Kingdom Hearts' Kudzu Plot.
      Intro: "You already have The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Star Wars! What could you POSSIBLY gain from MY show?!"

    • Doctor gets a "strange sense of deja vu" from Scrouge.
    • Daredevil and Iron Fist mention how he looks like Killgrave.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: His fatality "Fury of the Time Lord" (If you can call it a fatality) has him subject his opponents to the same fates as the Family of Blood.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Downplayed. In his friendship he will congratulate the player for choosing a friendship. Also sometimes does this in the dialogues:
    Deadpool, Pit, or The Mask outro: "Yes, I know how the 4th wall works. It's not the first time I've done it, either."
    Michael Myers outro: "This right here is why I prefer to stick to Christmas Specials."
  • But for Me, It Was Tuesday:
    Galactus and Unicron intro: "Devourer of Worlds? Pretty sure I stopped one of those last week..."
    Gojo outro: "Unlimited Void is a nice light show, but it's child's play to the Gallifreyan Matrix. That couldn't handle me either.."
  • Commonality Connection: The Doctor can't help but draw parallels between himself and other heroes with Born-Again Immortality.

  • Critical Status Buff: When the Doctor’s health depletes while he has a full Super Meter, he will steadily regain a good fraction of his health and gain a distinct golden glow from his skin. In this state, his physical strength gains a significant increase and he generates an aura that can damage the opponent. The more physical hits he lands, the more health he will get back. After a few seconds, he will cease glowing and return to his original state.
  • Expy Coexistence: Mentions to Ben that he knows Professor Paradox.
  • Fate Worse than Death: His "Fury of the Time Lord" fatality doesn't kill their opponents but instead either:
    • Binds them in unbreakable chains forged from a dwarf star and crushed by the weight.
    • Making them fall into an event horizon of a dying galaxy, being spaghettified by the immense gravity.
    • Traps them in every mirror in existence.
    • Suspends them in time and puts a sack over their head, revealing that they are a scarecrow.
  • Improbable Weapon User: The Doctor fights with sonic screwdriver and a fork, also can use "Conjuration" to conjur a random objects such as: Tennis racquet, film reel and multicolored scarf.
  • I'm Your Biggest Fan: Of Harry Potter.
  • Invisibility Cloak: Doctor has a Invisibility Watch.
  • Leitmotif: “Doctor Who Theme” by Murray Gold.
  • Man of Kryptonite: Sonic Screwdriver deals more damage to mechanical combatants and even can stun them.
  • Mistaken Identity: He mistooks Goomba and Koopa for a Zygon.
  • Move in the Frozen Time: Time Lords are immune to time stops. It's especially useful in fight against someone like Dio or Jotaro.

  • Technical Pacifist: Both of his fatalities do not have him directly kill the opponent, but either inflicts a Fate Worse than Death or leaves them at the mercy of Weeping Angels.
  • You Wouldn't Like Me When I'm Angry!: As shown in above, Doctor can be really scary when he's angry. He also warns about this in some of his dialogues:
    Hulk Intro: "Just like you, people NEVER want to see ME angry."
    Thanos and Darkseid outro: "I strongly advise keeping out of my way next time. You'll find it's a very small universe when I'm angry with you."
