Main Characters

    Jianhao Tan

Portrayed by: JianHao Tan

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jianhao.png
"Look on the bright side; there's plenty of sea in the fish, right?"

The protagonist of the series, a rebellious high-schooler fond of pranks, procrastination and cheating to get better grades, but ultimately loyal and nice to his friends. He comes from an affluent family but doesn't really like flaunting that fact too much.

  • Anti-Hero: He's a rule-breaking, cheat-loving, underachieving, procrastinating rebellious schoolboy. But he's also a Jerk with a Heart of Gold who tries his best to improve from his flaws, with varying levels of success.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Because of Cherylene's Heroic Sacrifice, he sadly laments her expulsion.
  • Big Brother Bully: While he didn't do it on Nicole, he DOES bully his little brother and junior Zhi Kai, most likely to show his affection.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Jianhao is capable of coming up with witty plans, but spends a lot of his time procrastinating.
  • Butt-Monkey: One of the constant Running Gag of the show is that up until the episode "17 types of Students During Exam Results" he'd never get above 49.5 in exams, therefore he kept being only one tiny step away from actually passing, and earning his mom's wrath as a result (even Nicole had her times of 'barely passing'). Aside from that, he gets injected multiple times with vaccine when he's not pranking (thus 'The Unlucky'), and then losing his butler privileges because he caused one of them to resign, while Nicole still retained hers.
  • The Chessmaster: In the School Heist episode, Jianhao is successful in pulling off a plan that forces the Organization to undo the mass expulsion and reinstate the expelled students.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Jianhao is capable of making snippy remarks, especially when in a gloomy mood.
  • Delinquent Hair: He doesn't bother much with hair styles, but he's known to ALWAYS dye his hair, mostly blonde. And it reflects his rebellious personality.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: He gives Kevin a flabbergasted look when the latter stands by Alan and Regna as their hall monitor even as they're expelling Cleverly and have given him a Traumatic Haircut.
  • Friendly Rivalry: He's competing with Vincent for the affections of Denise, but outside that, they're still kind of a 'dynamic duo'.
  • The Gadfly: He'll mess with his friends a lot, but that's just his way of showing that they're good friends.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: As bad as his school grades could be, JianHao is a technologically gifted genius who can invent high tech items that may or may not be improbable in the real life. The Study Buddies episode shows that he can create androids for either cleanups (T1T5000) or threat neutralizing (T1T9000, complete with rocket launcher and flame thrower), and a shrinking gun.
  • Guile Hero:
    • During the third and final exam, when Terry is about to expose Vincent for cheating off of Denise's notes, he suddenly distracts Regna by calling out to her for a sharpener and takes the paper from Terry.
    • Taken to another extent in the School Heist episode. It earns him the respect of Madam Soot Beng and even Regna.
  • Insane Troll Logic: Well, if you add one bunny with another bunny and they have five children, therefore that makes 1+1=7 in Jianhao's eyes. Worth 0.5 marks, at least.
  • Interrupted Declaration of Love: This happened to him at least twice. The first time was because of Madam Soot Beng and the second time, ironically enough, was by Denise so she can tell him that she knows and they share a heartfelt moment.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He's not above pranking his own friends, but in the same time, he's also very loyal to them and uses many unorthodox ways to help them.
  • Knight Templar Big Brother: A rarely seen trait since the earlier episode, but he can be overprotective towards his sister Nicole. He interrupted her flirting paper message chat with Ben by tearing the paper apart.
  • Lady and Knight: The Knight to Denise's Lady.
    • When Denise turned rebellious due to wanting to just run away from the expectations set on her, he encouraged her to Be Yourself, restoring her to her sweet self.
    • He serves as someone Denise can confide at least some of her issues with.
    • He saves her from being exposed by Terry to Regna during the final exam by calling out to Regna for a sharpener, distracting her.
    • When art class is about to end and Denise hasn't painted anything yet, putting her at risk of failing art and getting in massive trouble with her mother, he hurredly splashes in a perfectly imperfect painting for her, saving her in the nick of time. Even Vincent is impressed.
    • In the SAT exam arc, JianHao switches his perfectly working calculator to Denise's broken one after Teverly broke it. This prevents Denise from not getting the perfect score, but at the cost of JianHao scoring the lowest amongst the group.
  • The Leader: If the class requires one to carry out some sort of plan, Jianhao will step forward to be this.
  • Love Triangle: He's vying for the affections of Denise, competing with Vincent. So far, he's on the winning side, but after the Class Presentation video, they seem to be on an even field again, at least until Madeline suddenly appears and it seems to give Jianhao an advantage further because she gets Vincent's attention.
  • Malaproper: A Running Gag on him is that he tends to mess up idioms. "There's a lot of sea in the fish", instead of "Fish in the sea", for example...
  • Meta Guy: His presentation is basically lampooning the format of the show he's in, complete with the stereotypes that come with it.
  • Mr. Imagination: Let's just say that his imagination can get wild. Like who would imagine that Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet exists in his verse? Can result in tons of Daydream Surprise.
  • Noodle Incident: Off-screen, there's something that Jianhao did that caused the other butler, Alfredo, to resign, and thus leaving the household with just one (Walater) and Jianhao got grounded and had his butler privileges revoked for the time being.
  • "Not Making This Up" Disclaimer: In-universe. It may be hard to believe that Jianhao has a crocodile for a pet, but he proves it immediately.
Jianhao: Unless we tell (Miss Sherly) my croc ate my homework.
Vincent: Wait, your croc? Like, crocodile?
    Jianhao: Yeah.
    Vincent: Heh. Haha, you're funny.
Jianhao: No, seriously, you want to see it?
    Vincent: Okay!
  • Official Couple: With Denise, as of the island episode.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: In "Students get into Big Trouble during Detention", after overhearing Alan and Regna's discussion regarding their manipulative and nefarious plans, especially with getting rid of most of the Academy's students, and witnessing Cleverly performing a Heroic Sacrifice, Jianhao is left in Stunned Silence, which is incredibly jarring considering his usual attitude and signals that they are not authority figures that he could deal with pranks or win over by being himself.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The mischievous red oni to Denise's blue oni, but also the easygoing blue oni to the boisterous Vincent's red oni.
  • Relationship Upgrade: He and Denise get this in the island episode.
  • Ridiculous Procrastinator: He likes to take his sweet time until the last minute to finish the task, although this was actually on the earlier videos. He's trying to move away from the trope in order to impress Denise.
  • Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: Downplayed. He's the snarky Savvy Guy to Denise's studying-enthusiastic Energetic Girl.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Money!: Being a rich kid has its perks, in which Jianhao tends to resort to briberies to help him pass a subject. He continues to avert this afterwards, since he got caught red-handed by Denise and in doing so, she got mad at him, and he had to make amends to showcase his integrity again.
  • Stealth Mentor: This is how he earns Denise's trust in the first place. After she confides about her own insecurity, all Jianhao said was "It's my turn to take the photo now." and left to 'take his photo shoot'. Just to be sure, he left the exact same message in the water bottle he gave to her, and in both cases, the 'humor' sound effect played. Turns out, Jianhao was exactly banking that Denise would ponder the meaning and get his true message that it's time for her true, kind self to take the stage instead of her fake rebel one.
  • Took a Level in Badass: In the School Heist episode, he is The Leader of a heist in which he and some of his friends break into the school and manage to have the Organization undo the mass expulsion.
  • True Companions: JianHao considers his whole class as this, he will fight tooth and nail to ensure all the classmates are together to the end. Doesn't matter about their flaws, whether it's about being an overdependent, gullible crybaby (Trev), or being a two-faced humbug 'cheater' (Pei Shi), or being mean and dismissive to one nerd on public, not to mention used to hit on his sister (Ben), if they're in his class, they're his precious companion, no one gets left behind if he can help it (explaining why he still regrets being unable to save the shrill and loud Cherylene). The only exception to this rule is Terry.
  • Twice Shy: With Denise. They have a mutual crush on each other but are too shy to do anything about it. Whenever they try, they get interrupted (usually by Vincent).

    Denise Taylor

Portrayed by: Denise Soong Ee Lyn

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/denise.png
"I'm studying for next year's exams, because practice makes perfect!"

The Deuteragonist of the series, a smart, genius and also nice girl who's the star of the class, the only hardworking and study-loving student (to an absurd degree). She develops a crush on Jianhao after an incident where she turned rebellious to her detriment.

  • The Ace: The star student and constant top grader of the school. Although she has one glaring weakness...
  • Achilles' Heel: Art classes. Being a genius in mathematical equations leaves Denise creatively poor and she can't form up imagination in quick time or deal with arts where memorization and calculations are rendered useless. She's not a Terrible Artist, because she just can't even draw (except periodic table, somehow, but that's not art).
  • Bathroom Stall of Angst: And Overheard Insults too. Denise eats alone in the bathroom during recess because no one wants to eat with her (except Jianhao, if only he's not in detention). And then occasionally, she's driven to tears because some people may be badmouthing her for being too intelligent while she's within the stall.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: She develops a crush on Jianhao because he's the only one that treated her fairly and gave her a genuine pep talk when she's at her rebellious phase and in danger of being expelled.
  • Can't Hold His Liquor: Denise gets completely smashed in one glass of drink in a party, and this has a temporary lingering effect.
  • Character Development: From a 'Miss Perfect' into a 'Rebellious Girl' and then returning back to the 'Miss Perfect', with the experience reconstructing her views of the world.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Teachers and other students are always surprised that Denise always reveals herself to have finished any homework and exams before it was even handed to her.
  • Damsel in Distress: Of a sort. Following the reinstation of Class T1T5, when art class is about to end and Denise hasn't painted anything yet, putting her at risk of failing art and getting in massive trouble with her mother, Jianhao hurredly splashes in a perfectly imperfect painting for her, saving her in the nick of time.
  • Disappeared Dad: Her verbally abusive mother is shown to be the reason behind her perfectionism at school, but her father is never mentioned.
  • Disappointed in You: One of the things she doesn't like is men without integrity, who resort to cheats to get by. When she caught Jianhao doing so, she got mad enough that she doesn't correspond well with him anymore until he proves himself later on (thankfully, he regained her respect).
  • Dude Magnet: It was enough that at least THREE guys are vying for her affections, but also occasionally discussed to her detriment: Some people think she's ensnaring the boys with her intelligence, which distresses her because that's not her intention.
  • Eating Lunch Alone: She spends her recess time in a toilet because no one wants to sit with her and she doesn't have any particular cliques.
  • Girl Next Door: She evokes the image of a charming girl next door despite not being neighboring with anyone else... One girl next door that just happens to be super smart to nerdy levels without going overboard.
  • Girly Girl with a Tomboy Streak: Kind of. Denise is undoubtedly feminine, being a sweet, diligent, and well-mannered girl and having a girly hairstyle. However, she's also a fan of Star Wars, cheers at Kevin and Mr. Mabuhay's boxing match, and can easily get drunk.
  • Intertwined Fingers: After finally telling Jianhao that she knows he likes her, she holds hands with him and leans her head on his shoulder. A long-awaited Relationship Upgrade at last.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: Occasionally, analyzing other characters just isn't Denise's forte despite her genius and also trusting Jianhao:
    • She completely falls for Terry's charms, defending him despite both Jianhao and Vincent taking a bunch of friends as witnesses that he's a pervert because as far as she's concerned, he's a smart boy and fitting study buddy. Even the appearance of Lydia doesn't budge her much. She only budges and lowers her trust when Terry literally got exposed photoshopping himself as the harem king being swooned by her and Lydia.
    • Once Alan and Regna take over the Academy and announce that there will be more extracurricular activities, her response is to quietly cheer, their nefarious intents completely flying over her head. Also combines with Comically Missing the Point.
  • Intelligence Equals Isolation: Her intelligence isn't always beneficial for her. Socially, she's kind of awkward and some of her friends badmouth her to be an attention-seeker or 'doing favors' to snare the boys, and she doesn't have that many close friends. And most of her classmates just use her for cheating and grade-improving tool.
  • Light Feminine and Dark Feminine: The Light Feminine to Regna's Dark Feminine.
  • Love Confession: FINALLY gets this in the island episode, interrupting Jianhao's own Love Confession to reassure him she knows about his feelings and that she feels the same way about him.
  • Love Triangle: She's on top of two guys pining for her affections: Jianhao and Vincent. At one point, Terry tried to compete for her too, but has since backed down after the reveal of his perverted side (and Denise is also disappointed in him). She knows about the first two, and even made a poem dealing with how she's confused on how to deal with it.
  • Motherly Side Plait: She generally had her hair put on a side-plait, and she is very close enough as a class 'mom', aside of the teachers.
  • Nice Girl: Denise is kind, sweet and compassionate, and even her lectures about the importance of studying has a good point because it's for the future.
  • Not So Above It All: Post-Character Development, Denise sometimes takes a break from the 'overly studious purdy girl'.
    • Very mildly. Normally, she would discourage misconducts on school rules, but sometimes her classmates' rule-breaking antics ended up garnering chuckles out of her.
    • Played for Drama. Not even SHE can withstand the absurd regulations imposed into Titan Academy by the organization. When Regna does a new uniform check on Denise and her classmates, she harshly tells her that being the top student doesn't excuse her not following the rules and cuts off her bracelet, which nearly drives her to tears.
    • The quirkiness of the new teachers (Mr. Fakkah especially) also causes her to loosen up to the point of (reluctantly) going along with Vincent's idea to ignore one of the teachers, though not enough to make her let go of her study-orientedness.
  • Official Couple: With Jianhao as of the island episode.
  • The Perfectionist: According to her standards, she has to get a 100 mark at minimum. 99 mark is enough to distress her, even thinking that she could got less than 100 is enough to drive her to tears. It's later revealed that her mother drove her to be so; failure to meet up her expectations would result her getting sent Off to Boarding School.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Aside from Vicky, she is the blue oni to all the other students of Class T1T5, but it's best displayed through her relationship with Vincent, with her as a tranquil, diligent student and him being loud and troublemaking.
  • Relationship Upgrade: She and Jianhao get this in the island episode.
  • Running Gag: Denise has three in her credits:
    • Being so Crazy-Prepared that she has prepared everything that the teacher/faculty members were about to teach/deliver, making them doubt if she's actually more qualified for the job and telling her to pipe down if they can. When Mr. Dan makes her teach the class, she not only pulls it off splendidly, but manages to get her classmates to listen to her as well.
    • She will cheer if given more official study time when other students would groan. Doesn't matter if it comes from Alan or Regna, who don't have any good intentions beneath, she will be happy.
    • She will attend a class/exam so overly early that even the teachers are stumped, usually leading to them muttering that she's a weird, strange girl. Not even Regna could help to not fall into this routine.
  • Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: Downplayed. She's the studying-enthusiastic Energetic Girl to Jianhao's snarky Savvy Guy.
  • Silk Hiding Steel: While she is prim and proper and sometimes can burst into tears when being badmouthed, harassing her too far can end badly for the harasser. When Vincent constantly pesters her for interacting with Terry while claiming to be her boyfriend, Denise snaps and tells him off rather loudly, having gone past Rage Breaking Point.
  • Stepford Smiler: She looks like she's all happy about studying and being an overall Nice Girl. However, at home, she keeps getting pressured and scolded by her own mother who demands her to get 100 marks at minimum or it's Off to Boarding School for her, so she's all kind and caring in front of her friends, but deeply troubled from the inside. All of the sudden, it made a lot more sense that she Took a Level in Jerkass at one point.
  • Teen Genius: A teenage high school student that does high level researches in spare time and comes up with university-level equations for 'simple questions'.
  • Token Good Teammate: The model student and purdy Nice Girl in the middle of the 'Worst Class in Titan Academy' full of rebels, cheaters, procrastinators and what have you...
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: In the beginning of Season 2, Denise became a lot more rebellious and in line with the rest of Class T1T5's misbehaving tendencies, due to getting drunk in the previous episode and realizing that she wanted to just run away from the expectations set to her. After a few pep talks from Jianhao, she's back to her good self.
  • Twice Shy: With Jianhao. They have a mutual crush on each other but are too shy to do anything about it. Whenever they try, they get interrupted (usually by Vincent).
  • "Well Done, Daughter!" Gal: Deconstructed. Denise has no choice but to always try to please her mother, as failure to do so means that she will be sent to the boarding school, separated from her dear friends. The conflict tears her from the inside.
  • What Does She See in Him?: Both Soot Beng and Sherly question why Denise would date Jianhao.

    Vincent Sin

Portrayed by: Vincent Sin

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vincent_97.png
"I just don't like change, okay? I can't handle it."

The tritagonist of the series, he is the boisterous class clown who likes to think of himself as the "coolest kid in the school". He's Jianhao's best friend and is involved in a love triangle between them and Denise, though he can be rather toxic on her. He later develops a rather vulnerable side.

  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: Twice! And both times, it was with Denise during exams. In the first one, he begged her to borrow her calculator cause he forgot his and brought a TV remote instead. The second time, he called out for her to send him a cheat sheet because he was desperate and hopeless and didn't want to get expelled.
  • Anti-Hero: In a way that's similar to his best bud Jianhao but Vincent is worse in this department as Hao was always a Jerk with a Heart of Gold while Vincent was a clear Jerkass in the beginning until he Took a Level in Kindness.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: At first, he was dismissive of Madeline but after she comforted him over the school changes and then stood up for him against bullies, she quickly became his close friend. Maybe even more.
  • Beneath the Mask: While he may be a Large Ham and sometimes an insensitive jerk, Vincent turns out to be rather insecure and unable to adapt to certain changes. When the Academy re-opened, he had a Freak Out at just how many changes have been applied.
  • Big Ego, Hidden Depths: Turns out there's more to the self-proclaimed cool kid than meets the eye, namely that he's a lot more sensitive than he'd like to admit.
  • Book Dumb: Vincent is obviously not the best student at academics but he surprisingly shows competence in some other areas.
  • Break the Haughty: The sudden changes to the school left him very panicky and scared.
  • Chivalrous Pervert: He might not have the proper tact when it comes to courting Denise, but when he saw Terry being a pervert, he put aside his notions of being a boyfriend for a while to expose him. He's also quick to move over to Madeline, but at that point, he's full on chivalrous, telling her to back off the heist plan to protect her first year.
  • Class Clown: He is the designated clown of the class, doing his best to be the main attention of the class and be the 'coolest kid in class'.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: For Denise. Vincent would get aggressive and paranoid of Terry anytime he talked to Denise (thankfully, that eventually paid off because Vincent was right about Terry being suspicious). On the contrary, his jealousy is Played for Laughs when directed at Jianhao.
  • Defrosting Ice King: Maddy's (who Vince is implied to have gained a crush on) introduction served as one of the reasons why Vincent became more friendly and cordial.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • Even he was disgusted to find out that Terry is secretly a pervert who takes pictures in the girls' changing room.
    • Vincent's comment on Julian for being proud in bullying someone is "And I thought I was a jerk..."
  • Friendly Rivalry: He's Jianhao's best bud as well as his love rival for Denise. At least until Madeline comes to the picture.
  • Hidden Depths: Behind his egoistical, clingy, and Book Dumb attitude, Vincent has several hidden skills that come in very handy in certain situations, like cooking.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: It is implied that Vincent's desire to be the coolest kid in school stems from his hidden insecurites.
  • Inferiority Superiority Complex: Vincent evidently is an egoist, frequently hyping himself up annd/or putting others down. It seems to be a defense mechanism for a more vulnerable side that he's been slowly showing more and more of recently.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Rude? Check. Giant ego? Check. Cares about his friends at the end of the day? Definitely.
  • Large Ham: Vincent is boisterous and loud enough in whatever he does, he certainly knows how to make a scene.
  • Leader Wannabe: During the Among Us video, he tries to get too serious about leading the Crewmate, assigning tasks, berating people for not doing something beneficial for the crewmates... and has a poor sense of accusing who's sus. It got him voted out first before the video showed the actual first Impostor.
  • Literal-Minded: Sometimes he reads things at extremely face value. When Jianhao claims that Ren Yi Xiang needs someone to knock some sense on him, Vincent is already ready to smack his head with a baseball bat. And then when he's about to answer about photosynthesis, Miss Sherly guessed that he's about to say something about a photo (as in, portrait from camera).
  • Love Triangle: He's pining on Denise's attention, rivaling with Jianhao, but Vincent's own flaws are very very detrimental to his chance of winning. He somehow bounced back during the Class Presentation video, being seen more or less equal to Jianhao in the eyes of Denise. Then Madeline enters and Vincent looks like he may be backing away from the triangle.
  • Mr. Vice Guy: Yeah, he's lazy, selfish, rude and narcissistic but nonetheless he proved to be good, especially when compared to some other characters.
  • Moment Killer: He's always there to interrupt any time Denise wants to confess to Jianhao, sometimes to attract Denise's attention to his own, sometimes for unrelated reasons.
  • Oblivious to Love: As of now, it's left ambiguous. In "13 Things ALL Teachers HATE About School!", Vincent asks Maddy why she's hellbent on coming to school everyday, even if she's sick, as there's nothing there to miss. Maddy replies that there is one thing, and notably doesn't object when Kevin jumps saying it could be because of someone. Vincent seems to come to realization about who it is, but doesn't say anything.
  • Pet the Dog: When Denise tells Jianhao that they need a break from their relationship after finding out he hid the truth about the heist from her in the assembly, Vincent walks up to him and tries to console him with a pat on the shoulder.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Vincent actually doesn't really dislike Maddy, but he wants to at least make sure that the Power Trio of himself, JianHao and Denise to stay the same instead of him being dumped because the latter two became a couple. Unfortunately, he tends to word his concern to her in the wrongest way possible that it slowly fills Maddy with jealousy and he even initiates breaking up for it.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The red oni to Denise, with him being loud and troublemaking and her as a tranquil, diligent student. He also counts as the red oni again when compared with his best friend/partner in crime JianHao, where he's loud and emotional while JianHao is calm and cool.
  • Self-Proclaimed Love Interest: Around the time Terry showed up, Vincent spent a few episodes falsely claiming that he and Denise are boyfriend and girlfriend, even though Denise evidently isn't attracted to him.
  • The Slacker: Oh, very much so on schoolwork.
  • Slimeball: When he enters a relationship, he can be very toxic and insensitive, while boasting on his status. Denise can attest to this. Thankfully, he's a lot better when it comes to dealing with Maddy... but then he starts treating Maddy with a similar slimeball attitude in trying to keep the original trio together.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: Especially evident in the earlier videos. Vincent was always overconfident, loud and egotistical. Lately, it toned down significally and instead he's shown to be rather insecure deep down.
  • Supreme Chef: Because he has to cook for both himself and his rather nagging grandma, Vincent develops genuinely immense cooking skills instead of only being good at eating. This surprises Denise when he is the one issuing cooking orders in their group, and his cooking is well-approved by both Mr. Alan and Mrs. Regna.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Most of the time in Season 4, he has significantly toned down his advances towards Denise, even if he still seeks her attention. And following the disbanding of Class T1T5, despite not wanting to at first, he decides to help Jianhao form a plan to help the expelled students, under the guise of him not wanting to be in the same class as Timmy. In 14 Types of Students in a New School, he is rather nice towards Debbie despite being annoyed by her, admits to missing Denise and Jianhao, and is grateful to his new friend Madeline for standing up for him, possibly having her to be his new official pair but treating her much better than when he treated Denise based on experience.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: One of the exam episodes had him borrow a calculator from Denise because he forgot his (and brought a TV remote instead) and when she needed it back, he refused to return it. When they got their results, Vincent got a high score and in a cruel Bait-and-Switch Comment, he looks like he's about to thank Denise for the calculator but instead he claims that it was all his effort.
  • With Friends Like These...: Before his Character Development, you really can't help but wonder why any of Vincent's friends put up with his toxic attitude, especially Jianhao and Denise.

Study Buddies

    Teverly (UNMARKED SPOILERS)

Portrayed by: Leon Markcus

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_1985_6.jpeg
Click here to see his true appearance

A nerd with who oddly bears a striking resemblance to Cleverly and is a spy working for the Organisation.

  • Accent Relapse: When caught capturing evidence to expel JianHao and Vincent by Denise, he switches back to his natural voice. He does the same thing when ominously telling said students he will "see [them] later."
  • Affectionate Nickname: After they grew closer, Diana started calling him Tev.
  • Anti-Villain: The Forced into Evil type. Teverly wanted to enjoy the life as a normal student as much as possible, but being blackmailed by Alan with his scholarship and education on the line, he has no choice but to act as smug and villainous as possible.
  • Becoming the Mask: The Science Fair sees him treated well in the end by the Study Buddies that he decides to stop doing Alan's biding. But Alan has other plans to keep him in line.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He pretends to be a harmless nerdy student when in reality, he's spying on the students for the organization.
  • Bridal Carry: This is how he carries Diana out of the burning school building.
  • Casanova Wannabe: He tries to hit on the ladies, with Diana being the first. But his resemblance with Cleverly didn't work and the other ladies generally ignore him.
  • Character Development: At first introduced as a two-faced, slimy, heartless student and a willing spy for the Organization, he's later revealed as an unwilling Anti-Villain, and eventually finds the courage to defy his superior. Unfortunately, he is still Trapped in Villainy because Diana is in danger if he ever stops being a villain, and Teverly is clearly not pleased. The Study Buddies arc does wonders to Teverly's development as a character.
  • Co-Dragons: Serves as this plot-wise to Alan, alongside Regna.
  • Dating Catwoman: It's shown in the Season 6 recess episode that Teverly and Diana are officially dating. In the same episode, it’s implied that his feelings are genuine. And in the science fair episode, it’s confirmed.
  • The Dragon: To Alan.
  • Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: Implied. Alan has Teverly under his thumb because he's paying for his scholarship tuition that his mother couldn't afford, and when the former threatens to cancel it, Teverly looks troubled and says he doesn't want to burden his mom.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Even he's baffled when Alan orders him to slander Denise, ruin her reputation even at the cost of the school being destroyed due to her standing up to him. His Villain Respect for Denise is real and for all he's done, he still wants the academy to stand strong.
  • Faux Affably Evil: In the beginning, he seems to be nice and friendly to Chloe and her friends, until we see his true nature that he's hiding to avoid getting caught by the students that he works for The Organization.
  • Foil: As the Token Evil Teammate, he's this with Terry, with him representing order to Terry's chaos. Teverly is the orderly kind of villain as he answers to the Organization, but it also makes him a little predictable to some, he'll only do dangerous things willingly as long as it's within the interests of the Organization and Alan ordered him so, he wouldn't suddenly set the whole school on fire on a whim or personal interest (then come up with an excuse for it for Alan), unlike Terry. The reveal also further expand this, with how Teverly is actually Trapped in Villainy, an unwilling executor of his schemes, while Terry causes chaos on his own volition without anyone forcing him.
  • Forced into Evil: Turns out, he's only doing Alan's bidding because he's being paid for his scholarship tuition that his mother couldn't afford. If he disobeys, he will not only lose his access to education, but also burden his mother. Teverly has to sink pretty low and violates his standards as much as it pains him. And the moment he is Becoming the Mask and openly says that he is fine with his scholarship cancelled, Alan pulls him back in line by threatening to cancel Diana's instead.
  • Four Eyes, Zero Soul: Wears glasses as part of his disguise and is secretly working for the organization. Eventually subverted, the zero soul part turns out to be an act because he turns out to be an Anti-Villain.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: While he goes along just fine with Class N4T1 (as long as he's trying to stay undercover), when he mingles with Class T1T5, not only JianHao fails to spot his allegiance and threat level, he and his classmates thinks Teverly's an annoying guy, and his 'attempt to blend in' just annoys them further.
  • The Heavy: Similarily to Regna, Teverly is more involved in the plot than Alan is, as he is spying on the students on his behalf.
  • Hidden Agenda Villain: His motivation for working for the Organization was unknown until the SAT results episode, where Alan reminds him of his mother's inability to pay his scholarship tuition, and if he doesn't do what he's told, then Alan will cancel it (and when Teverly does find courage to defy it, Alan goes for Diana's instead).
  • Hidden Depths: Teverly seems to be a fan of Pokemon TCG, as he steals a trading card from his friend during the fire.
  • Identical Stranger: To Cleverly. Subverted with the reveal that it's a disguise, and his true appearance is nothing like Cleverly's.
  • Kick the Dog: Invoked Trope. To fulfill his new task from Alan, Teverly goes out of the way to sabotage the hell out of the SAT Test at Denise's expense, ranging from casting doubts about her confidence at her answers, making noises and framing Denise for being noisy towards the invigilator, and setting up a power outage to break Denise's calculator.
  • Manipulative Bastard: After saving her from the fire, Teverly takes the chance to grow closer to Diana while simultaneously convincing her that any rumors she hears about him are untrue.
  • Meaningful Name: His name is a combination of Terry and Cleverly. He has a personality similar to the former, and his disguise makes him similar to the latter.
  • The Mole: He's actually spying on the Academy on the behalf of Alan.
  • Nerd Glasses: Wears the same pair as Cleverly's, at least when undercover.
  • Nerdy Nasalness: He speaks in this fashion when he's undercover.
  • Noble Top Enforcer: Both he and Regna have at least shown some genuine admiration for some students due to their cunning, unlike Alan who just hates all of them.
  • Not So Above It All: Even he is seen enjoying himself when Johnny sings. He also takes his time in the middle of the fire and spying to steal a trading card from his friend. This takes a new meaning after his reveal as an Anti-Villain: This is just Teverly's way to enjoy the school life the way it was meant to be, if it wasn't for his spying duties.
  • Not So Stoic: When he confronts Sunny, he starts yelling at him threateningly.
  • Pet the Dog:
    • He claps along with everyone else for Johnny's singing.
    • Teverly also shows reluctance to get Denise expelled, proving that his respect for her is genuine.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: Saving Diana from the fire, which was done just for the sake of retrieving Cleverly's laptop and gaining Diana's trust.
  • Replacement Goldfish: Might've became this for Diana with Cleverly gone. He implies subtly in the recess episode that he doesn't like it and wants her to see him as his own person.
  • Smug Snake: His smug attitude, often accompanied by a devilish smirk, annoys a lot of the other students.
  • Teens Are Monsters: Working for the organization would make him this, but it's ultimately subverted; turns out he's being forced to do what he does under the threats of his scholarship getting cancelled, and his mom can't afford the tuition.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Being a spy for the Organization automatically makes him this in Class N4T1.
  • Trapped in Villainy: Teverly is revealed to have been working for Alan only because the man is forcing him to by threatening to cancel his scholarship, which Teverly's mom cannot afford the tuition for.
  • Villainous Rescue: He rescues Diana from being trapped on fire, but it's more likely that he's doing it so he can retrieve an item that could implicate the Organization (namely, Cleverly's iPad/laptop). It's implied that he succeeded.
  • Villain Respect: When Denise exposes his disguise, Teverly takes the time to admire her intelligence, saying that her reputation does proceed her. It also plays a factor in his standards of evil, this is why he looks disappointed when Alan orders him to ruin her reputation in his own anger.
  • Walking Spoiler: Due to him being The Mole for The Organization, and even moreso after the reveal that he's Trapped in Villainy.
  • Worthy Opponent: Genuinely respects Denise for being The Ace of the school.

    Ren Yi Xiang

Portrayed by: Ridhwan Azman

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/renyixiang.png

A thin, nerdy student who tends to not think through his actions, causing trouble for him. He has a heartbreak after seeing his crush Pei Shi two-timing on him, causing him to develop a new tough, bullying personality to distance himself from the pain, but later reverts back to his old self due to a head injury. He also strikes a friendship with Kevin.

  • Anyone Can Die: Though not actually dying, but expulsion is considered similar enough. Ren Yi Xiang has been one of the more prominent members of Jianhao's clique, and still had his conflict with Pei Shi ongoing when he's suddenly expelled, leaving behind everyone.
  • Beautiful Singing Voice: His nerdy self has this and he shows it off in Good Students vs. Bad Students and 13 Types Of People Stuck on an Island.
  • Big Brother Bully: He attempts to be this after his transformation towards his own little sister Diana. Unfortunately for him, this backfires, Diana is still the bully for him.
  • Blind Without 'Em: At first, he has poor sight, and had to either wear his Nerd Glasses or get peed to fix his sights. After his transformation, he goes without glasses just fine.
  • Butt-Monkey: While his Love Triangle arc with Pei Shi is generally Played for Drama and generates sympathy for him, in other areas, Ren Yi Xiang's nerdiness and his attempt to be a tough guy-wannabe tend to make him the butt of jokes for many, and occasionally, even Kevin inflicted accidental physical damage on him. And in case anyone forgot, even his 'tough guy' self can still be bullied by Diana.
  • Bring It: When Regna attempts to detail her punishment to him, he responds on every detail with "Is that all you got!?". This only happened because he's been hardened with past trauma to be more aggressive.
  • Character Development: Ren Yi Xiang is the character that goes through a roller coaster of development: Started out as an funny awkward nerd (who's still friendly), then becomes a heartbroken nerd, and then becomes a tough bully-wannabe, and then it spirals down into a dismissive emo guy, and saved to become a better person that combined his positive aspects throughout his development. Whew. And suddenly, he's back as his very first personality due to a bump on the head!
  • Cloud Cuckoo Lander: While this is minorly played during his pre-bully self, post-memory loss, this side of Ren Yi Xiang is played up even more. For instance, when he's referred as a nerd...
    "I'm not even a nerd. I'm a bird. Coo-coo!"
  • Didn't Think This Through: The nerd look doesn't really help with his grades or intelligence. His actions tend to be because of not thinking through the consequences and he tends to pay for it well. And that may also be why he never got good grades, mostly failing his subjects.
  • Fat and Skinny: He's the skinny guy to Kevin's fat/buff guy.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: While Jianhao correctly guessed that Ren Yi Xiang's shift of personality is due to heartbreak, he also made a point that it's not a good enough excuse for taking levels in jerkassery.
  • Hypocrite: He'd take the stance that it's all Pei Shi's fault for cheating behind his back, but there's one tiny detail he forgot: Before Hamza was even introduced, Ren Yi Xiang himself flirted with Melody behind Pei Shi's back (earning a slap from both, and an unrelated, drunk Denise) during the party episode (right after he defended her from Kevin).
  • I Just Want to Be Badass: He thought that being a tough guy or bully would be an improvement over his nerdy, easily bullied and unlucky in love self, so he changed himself. Jianhao gave him the title 'The Wannabe' for it.
  • Jekyll & Hyde: While he doesn't always flip on a dime, his 'nerdy' vs 'cool' personality dynamics tend to be a downplayed version of this:
    • Nerdy Ren Yi Xiang is the Jekyll, being the good-natured 'trying to be helpful' but awkward, dim-witted and often becoming a Butt-Monkey while also trying his best to love and be loyal at Pei Shi; while his 'cool' personality is the Hyde, while not evil, he's also a Jerkass bully especially when Pei Shi is involved but also counterbalanced by being self-assured, not being awkward and confident.
    • Like the trope namer, the nerdy Ren Yi Xiang is not aware of his cool bully personality and is weirded out when people refer him as 'his old self'. On the other hand, the bully Ren Yi Xiang is aware of his nerdy self and considers him 'dead' while blaming Pei Shi for the death. During the 13 Types of Students Doing Homework, the two personalities has a temporary 'constant switchover' on seeing a picture of Pei Shi, trying to assert who is the dominant one in the body and generally plays out like 'Jekyll personality being buried while the Hyde personality tries to be dominant'; and it shows: The nerdy self only concentrates on declaring love for Pei Shi without acknowledging the bully self, while the bully self is aware of the nerdy self and keeps telling him that Ren Yi Xiang as a whole should be past that.
  • Jerkass to One: In his tougher self since Season 4, he's generally dismissive to others but acts like a complete Jerkass solely to Pei Shi, still not forgiving her the change she caused on him. Even after he develops further to be better and more inspiring towards others, he still takes his time to belittle and insult her, which ends up to be the straw that broke the camel's back.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: He tends to mostly get away kind of scots free on antagonizing Pei Shi, even he doesn't seem fazed with her slap. Immediately after, he got hit with a ball on his head, reversing all his positive development back to square one to his nerdy awkward self that's madly in love Pei Shi while she has now hated him. Things just gets really awkward on him.
  • The Load: During the Island episode, Ren Yi Xiang spends his time not helping others (though he was told by Jianhao that he's more of a help if he's not even actively helping) and instead spends his time playing Family Island when he could have used the phone to make a call to the mainland. And by the time he's exposed, his phone ran out of battery so that can't be used.
  • Love Hurts: He's incredibly hurt after Pei Shi is revealed to be cheating on him and to escape the pain, he assumes a tougher, meaner persona.
  • Love Triangle: Oh boy. First, he's on one between Pei Shi and Hamza, but on the other hand, he's also on top of the relationship with Pei Shi and — of all people — Kevin. Before Kevin established his position, however, it used to be taken by Melody.
  • Meaningful Name: His name consists of the Chinese words for "humanity/humaneness" (仁, rén), "perseverance" (毅, ), and "(to) soar" (翔, xiáng).
  • Motive Decay: Back then, Ren Yi Xiang has legitimate reasons to be antagonistic at Pei Shi when she constantly cheated him. As time passed, Hamza has been kind of Put on a Bus and Pei Shi hasn't started any opposition against him (and sometimes being genuinely nice) and even Kevin has been fine with her. Ren Yi Xiang still continues his antagonism against her with no reasons due to being too deep in his own misery that he looks like he's dependant on a Self-Serving Memory.
  • Nerd Glasses: In the earlier parts of the story. He ditched it due to the pain he received for being a meek nerd, but after he reverts back to his old personality, he's seen with it again.
  • Never My Fault: He'll pretty much insist that he's victim in being cheated by Pei Shi and she caused the death of his old personality, refusing to acknowledge some of his faults, such as being indecisive thus leading to be late when Pei Shi gave him a fair chance to play with her as friends, or that it's more likely that both Pei Shi and Hamza have been on a relationship before he started making his own advances on her and her true intention was to just maintain friendship with him (thus he made a mistake in reading the situation), only believing that she just instantly cheated on him.
  • Parental Abandonment: Apparently he lost contact with them five years ago and his grandmother has been taking care of him ever since.
  • Poor Communication Kills: In every time he expresses his issue with Pei Shi after his change of personality, he never once mentions Hamza in front of her, which in turn makes Pei Shi unaware that she's hurting him merely by associating with Hamza.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The brooding blue oni to Kevin's moody red oni.
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: With his sister Diana. Ren Yi Xiang started out as a nerdy goody-two-shoes and bully magnet, but he Took a Level in Jerkass to hide the pain from a heartbreak caused by his love with Pei Shi.
  • Split Personality: His nerd and cool self reside in the same body now and something may cause them to switch, either a bump to the head or drinking some wrong chemical. In the latter case, it can happen multiple times in a short time.
  • That Came Out Wrong: He at least does this when it comes to saying he's no longer with the chess club.
You know? Chess club. Breast club. Never mind, that didn't come out right...
  • That Man Is Dead: As far as Ren Yi Xiang is concerned, his nerdy self is dead, and now only his bully self remains. However, looking at Pei Shi (portrait or real) can cause his nerdy self to somehow try to resurface. And surprise surprise, this 'dead man' self resurfaced after being thought to be dead.
  • Thinks Like a Romance Novel: Deconstructed. It's quite blatantly shown without mentioning out loud that Ren Yi Xiang has a mindset of lovers that come from a romance novel where the main lead ends up happily with the main lover. This caused him to view Pei Shi in an utterly perfect manner, only to get utterly crushed when in reality Pei Shi already had a boyfriend but would still prefer the two of them being Just Friends. As a result, not only Ren Yi Xiang Took a Level in Jerkass to escape the pain, his opinion on Pei Shi soured in the other way around: If she's not the loyal sweet girlfriend he idealized her as, then she must be a serial cheater that's not worth fighting for.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: He was previously one of the goody-goody students. But after a heartbreak too many, he assumes the personality of a bully. As the series goes on, he's gotten even worse: He ends up being the one to initiate the antagonism against Pei Shi first even when she's not doing anything that hurts him, and perceives any of her actions, no matter how minor, as an offense against him.
  • The Un-Favourite: In terms of his family, because of his weirdness, Ren Yi Xiang is usually the less preferred sibling compared to the more outgoing, stabler Diana. His parents thought that he's useless and unwanted, despite trying to keep his family together, and Ren Yi Xiang keeps hearing things about being berated by his own family. This is mostly Played for Laughs, since they pop up to drum up comedic moments.

    Kevin

Portrayed by: Kevin Foo

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kevin_0.png
"I'm not fat, okay? I'm buff."

A fat student who tends to deny that he's fat and takes exception to any statement that implies as such. Generally also easygoing, but also has a tendency to be some sort of drama queen. He's also queer (somewhere between gay and bisexual), developing a crush on Ren Yi Xiang.

  • Ambiguously Bi: While Kevin does have some homosexual tendencies and is still attracted to Ren Yi Xiang, there were enough hints that he may be bisexual instead: During the 11 Types of People During a Fire episode, he admitted to dating the sister of someone (who looked like Mr. Dan). And then during the 17 Types of Students in a Class Presentation episode, turned out that he teamed up with Jasmine, having been game-pals during the lockdown, and engaged in a Belligerent Sexual Tension-style Ship Tease, and then post-Island episode, despite both Ren Yi Xiang and Pei Shi being in a conflict, he instead takes his time to hit on Abbey right after she just broke up with Trev. And then, he ends up starting a budding relationship with Julynn...
  • Big Eater: Even though he hates being called fat, he just can't help but indulge in his hobby of eating a lot.
  • Bisexual Love Triangle: He's romantically interested in Ren Yi Xiang, and saw Pei Shi as his love rival.
  • Butt-Monkey: He's not exactly the brightest of the bulb, and that is often translated to him being the butt of joke of many. Likely end up being deconstructed that constant disrespect on him due to this trope led him to become Les Collaborateurs in trying to be respected, since before Alan and Regna appeared in front of the students, he was trying to get some respect only to be made fun of.
  • Camera Fiend: At least in the earlier skits, Kevin is often seen using and showcasing new cameras he bought. Also counts as an Actor Allusion, because Kevin Foo is one of Team Titan's main photographers and the guy who takes the video shots.
  • Class Clown: Competes this spot with Vincent, since he often has an overbloated ego about himself and tries to be respected by everyone while nobody actually took him seriously.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: At times, he could get a little more offensive and rude when it comes to winning Ren Yi Xiang's affections, especially towards Pei Shi even when she's trying to be less of a Bitch in Sheep's Clothing.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Butt-Monkey he may be, Kevin can be competent at times, such as when he managed to have himself and his friends escape from security guard Salim through a backdoor during the School Heist.
  • Drunk with Power: If Kevin attained some sort of high position (and he's kinda desperate about it after a history of being ridiculed and disrespected for laughs), there's a big chance that he will abuse it. When he ended up making a TikTok sensation (Kevin D'Meal), he's quick to reject and drive out his friends that don't line up with his newfound fame (Jianhao and Vincent). When he became a 'hall monitor' and sucking up to teachers and the Organization, he's showing no remorse to misfortunes of other students (such as Cleverly) regardless of whatever disgust his friends show.
  • Everyone Has Standards: During the Island Episode, even Kevin himself shows disapproval at Ren Yi Xiang wasting his phone's battery for playing an online game when the rest were trying to find a way to get out of the island they're stranded on. Even when the exposer was his love rival (Pei Shi), Kevin couldn't even defend Ren Yi Xiang on this like usual, since he also wanted to get off the island very badly. But thankfully, he's quicker to forgive than the rest after Ren Yi Xiang makes it up with a sweet song during the campfire.
  • Heel–Face Turn: After his tenure of sucking up as a hall monitor and getting called out for it directly by Vincent, Kevin reveals that it's not worth losing Ren Yi Xiang, therefore he quits his sucking up act and genuinely tries to help the students.
  • I Am Big Boned: He's not fat, OK? He's buff.
  • I Hate Past Me: Kevin really isn't fond of his tenure as a boot-licking hall monitor, rejecting the tie he used to wear before. However, when James unveils the new rules for Titan Academy, Kevin is suggested by Ren Yi Xiang to take up the hall monitor position again for hopefully benevolent reasons.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: While Kevin can get a little too possessive for Ren Yi Xiang in his love rivalry with Pei Shi and antagonizes her, she can't rebuke on how Kevin hits the jackpot that in the first place, she hurt Ren Yi Xiang for two-timing on him and not telling him about it.
  • Les Collaborateurs: Mixed with Ambiguously Evil. After the Organization makes themselves known, Kevin immediately sucks up to them and pretends like he's their respected second-in-command. Alan and Regna absolutely had zero respect on him and their silent glare are enough to cow him down, but sometimes, Kevin's sucking up can end up beneficial for the class.
  • Lethal Chef: He's not to be trusted when it comes to cooking despite his love for eating, his attempt to bake cookies are disastrous.
  • Love Triangle: After Ren Yi Xiang returns to his old self and being closer with Pei Shi and despite them still being friends, Kevin takes his time to make advances on Abbey, right after she broke up with Trev and the latter is also trying to win her back.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The moody red oni to Ren Yi Xiang's brooding blue oni.
  • Ship Tease: After years of seemingly unable to settle with a pair slowly and nicely (though Ren Yi Xiang is a prominent pair), Kevin suddenly finds himself making some awkward and cute moments with Julynn, building them up to be the next Beta Couple.
  • Straight Gay: While Kevin can be a little of a drama queen, his gayness is never portrayed in a campy way but treated with respect, with no one picking on him for it, and he's capable of acting normally.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: He's already a moody, possessive student beforehand, but after becoming Les Collaborateurs, he has been increasingly much jerkier and uncaring to his friends (even outside his usual Love Triangle problems). The Squid Game episode even lands him "The Evil" segment when he, for no apparent reason, stuffed Abbey in his jacket and caused her to get eliminated, all while putting an evil face.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: After they both are transferred to Class T1T6, he comforts Jianhao over the new changes and admits to missing Ren Yi Xiang himself. Additionally, it's possible that he's wondering if sucking up to the Organization is worth losing Ren Yi Xiang. This leads to a Heel–Face Turn.
  • Toxic Friend Influence: While he is no doubt a loyal friend of Ren Yi Xiang and his confidant, giving everything for his sake (including betraying the Organization), he's also basically enabling Ren Yi Xiang to indulge further in his darker, bully self and continuously antagonizing Pei Shi even when she's not doing anything bad, using her 'cheater' incident as the excuse for it, if only to ensure that Ren Yi Xiang is his (or an act of eliminating a love rival), not caring for the long term result for Ren Yi Xiang walking the dark path. This contrasts with Jianhao, who is still friends with Ren Yi Xiang, but occasionally gives him indirect warnings that he's taking his attitude on Pei Shi (either his love obsession or his avenger bully self) too far and he should dial down his own obsession for his own good (although Jianhao's advices were not at all heeded, so Kevin still has an advantage).
  • You Are Fat: He's often a recipient of this (or even think he is being treated as such), and doesn't react well to it.

    Debbie Soon

Portrayed by: Debbie Soon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/debbie_1.png
"I am the bell."

A nerdy girl who is actually pretty sweet, but often had her mind somewhere else from her head. She has a one-sided crush with Ben, who constantly belittled her. She's actually very beautiful when she's not wearing any nerdy getups, but her mom insists on her looking like a nerd 'for her own good'.

  • Beautiful All Along: If she just ditched her nerd tropes and especially un-braided her hair, she's downright beautiful that even Ben is stunned. Unfortunately for Debbie, her mom insists that she uses her nerd tropes for 'safety measures'.
  • Bespectacled Cutie: She's a sweet nerd with a cute disposition and glasses.
  • Cloud Cuckoo Lander: Occasionally, she has a rather unorthodox way of thinking which weirds out a lot of her classmates.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Debbie looks like someone whose head is in the clouds and can get spacey. However, out of the three exams, she had two almost-perfect scores (95) and she could give out a detailed explanation of Newton's First Law right when she's dozing off.
  • Fangirl: She has a gigantic crush on Ben, with varying levels of success, but after being embarrassed one too many, she decided to stop doing it.
  • Hidden Depths: When Mr. Dan forces her and Tasha to tell the class about what they were discussing about, she manages to cover up by claiming they were talking about what to get him for his birthday, showing a level of resourcefulness.
  • I Am the Noun: "I am the bell!" Granted, it was just her being a Cloud Cuckoo Lander, but it was worth mentioning.
  • Love Martyr: As of late, her relations with Ben become more like this, she defends his mean actions towards her when others have mentioned he's being unreasonably mean... well, at least until she gets past her Rage Breaking Point.
  • Nice Girl: Debbie is very kind and encouraging, putting emphasis on the importance of studying. She's one of T1T5's nicest girls along with Denise.
  • The Pollyanna: Despite either Ben being mean to her, or her mother being extremely overbearing to her, Debbie still faces life with a beaming smile and admiring both of them. The Ben thing has died off ever since, but the one with her mom still stands.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Debbie has been very patient with Ben and seemingly succeeded to bring his good side more, until eventually he keeps getting back to his old self and cruelly rejecting her to preserve his 'not hanging out with nerds to be with the popular clique' image. At this point, Debbie just loses all of her patience on Ben and yells at him, swearing to never speak with him again.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Surprisingly, she's the red oni to Ben's blue oni, being remarkably more expressive than him.
  • Star-Crossed Lovers: Her love story with Ben comes to an abrupt halt when Ben is expelled, but resumed after the heist.

    Julynn Lau

Portrayed by: Julynn Lau

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/julynn.png
A student that is down on her luck. Anything that could go poorly tend to actually go poorly on her. Aside of that, she's also an e-girl, often seen with a headphone and doing TikTok activities. In the latter part of the 4th Season, she became friends with Cherylene as 'The Lynns'.
  • Born Unlucky: She's someone who looks like on the black list of lady luck herself, only being able to alleviate it a bit with a lucky charm. When that got taken away... see the entry on Butt-Monkey. Then even when she becomes friends with Cherylene, she still ends up getting some unlucky streak like getting her arm accidentally sprained due to Cherylene being too hyperactive. There's one time it's Played for Drama: Cherylene later gets expelled and blacklisted from schools of Singapore, thus separating Julynn from her new best friend as if it's yet another part of her bad luck.
  • Butt-Monkey: Spectacularly happened during the Season 2 exam arc. After her lucky charm got confiscated, whatever can go wrong for her exam does go wrong: Pencil breaks, lightning strikes her paper, Jasmine accidentally dropped a bottle of water to her exam and in process of 'fixing' it, she tore the paper, and when Julynn tried to put the papers together with tape, it ended up as a crumpled ball of paper and she got 0 marks for it. Overexaggerated crying due to her misfortunes is basically her stitch.
  • Characterization Marches On: Before her massive misfortune trait was revealed, Julynn could be a lot more deadpan and savage, taking Trev's suggestion of dating into 'getting out'.
  • Dislikes the New Guy: Julynn is the only student who seems to have a problem with Madeline because she doesn't consider her good enough to be the new Lynn team with her after Cherylene's expulsion.
  • Dude, Not Funny!: Her reaction of being offered to form a new 'Lynns' with Madeline. Julynn just lost her best friend Cherylene, she's not in the mood to quickly move on from her.
    "Too soon, Debbie! Too soon!"
  • Genki Girl: Second to Cherylene, or perhaps having her peppiness rubbing off Julynn. She was less peppy before she hung out with Cherylene. After Cherylene's departure, she seems to have taken up most of Cherylene's peppy attitude without going too overboard.
  • Gratuitous Japanese: At one point, without being established as an otaku or something, she utters "Nani!?".
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Julynn might not be the closest of Debbie's friends, at one point jealous at her for getting Ben's attention, but she grows closer to her and slowly becomes more indirectly unapproving with Ben's mean attitude to her. When Ben pushed Debbie past her Rage Breaking Point, Julynn directly gives him a disapproving 'What the hell!?' expression.

Others

    Diana Bakar

Portrayed by: Diana Bakar

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/diana20.png
Ren Yi Xiang's little sister who's actually The Bully for him (even after his hardening of personality) despite the younger sibling. She's one of the 'cool girls' of Class N4T1, being influenced with Jasmine in social media and following her footsteps as they are best friends... though sometimes, they end up being rivals. After developing a crush on Cleverly and then heartbroken because of the fate that befell on her, Diana has focused more on getting her revenge on the Organization.
  • Ascended Extra: At first, Diana only made cameos (being a member of Class B00B5 and then being one of Jasmine's followers/juniors that came to join the homework group) and when she became part of the recurring cast, she was not part of Chloe's main clique of Crystal and Timmy (and sometimes Zhi Kai), but after the show gets into Darker and Edgier territory and her plot with Cleverly, Diana can now be considered the Tritagonist of the either Class N4T1 or the whole show. In fact, she becomes the Sole Survivor and old N4T1 representative while Chloe gets Put on a Bus and Crystal and Timmy get expelled.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Or "Little Sister Instinct" in this case. See Hypocritical Heartwarming below.
  • Big Brother Bully: Inverted, for she is Ren Yi Xiang's Little Sister Bully.
  • Bully Hunter: She defended her Love Interest Cleverly from Tiffany and Patrine and her brother Ren Yi Xiang from Trev and Hakim.
  • Foreshadowing: During her section in Music Class, she shoved her own mic in front of Cleverly, who's befuddled at the act and at first, Diana just picked a random person. She ends up falling for Cleverly later, and this scene became part of her love montage after his expulsion.
  • Heel–Face Turn: She used to be a member of Class B00B5, but then transferred to Class N4T1 yet still remained a bit of an Alpha Bitch (though a little more reasonable). Then the incident with Cleverly happened, and she becomes one of the Faces.
  • Heroic BSoD: The departure of Cleverly dealt a blow in her ego that she's no longer being domineering or even antagonizing Tiffany or Patrine for ditching her in favor of Jasmine. She just spent her time browsing for 'Sad Song', 'Sad Quote', 'Sad Plant', 'Sad Man', 'Sad (Mr.) Dan'. Also she's completely not responding to Tiffany being scared at the prospect of a mouse nearby.
  • Hypocritical Heartwarming: When Trev and Hakim bully Ren Yi Xiang for talking to a plant, Diana steps up to defend him, saying only she can bully him. After fending off the two, she ruins her brother's plant.
  • Lovable Alpha Bitch: She follows after Jasmine, being a sociable 'cool girl' who gives an intimidating aura. In the end, the two end up clashing on 'who's more influential'.
  • Love Redeems: She incidentally develops a crush on Cleverly when formerly she just wanted to manipulate him to do all her works. By the time her friends bullied him, she ended up siding with Cleverly by dragging him out and telling him that they're going to have a date.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero:
    • Her not-so-graceful response in the face of Jasmine stealing her friends (pouring water on Jasmine's head) caused the canteen to erupt into a food fight, which is then witnessed by Alan and Regna and got both classes punished with detention and cleaning all classes (and also gave both of them grounds/proofs that they are misbehaving students and therefore, had to be subjected with their absurd rules).
    • Her bumping her head under a table while overhearing Alan and Regna's plans alongside Jianhao, Chloe, and Cleverly results in Cleverly having to pull a Heroic Sacrifice by revealing himself to Alan and Regna so she, Jianhao, and Chloe can be safe with the knowledge of said plans.
  • Properly Paranoid: Even after the heist succeeded, she remains wary, and when questioned about it by Chloe, cites the Organization still controlling the school and Cleverly still being gone. She definitely has a point, especially because Alan is targeting her.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Lovable Alpha Bitch red oni to nerdy Cleverly's blue oni.
  • The Rival: She's this with Jasmine: While they can act friendly together, at times, they're still competing on who can get more clouts and followers. This ends up somehow disastrous, as seen in the Nice Job Breaking It, Hero entry.
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: With her brother Ren Yi Xiang. Diana began as a popular mean girl, but eventually Took a Level in Kindness due to developing a crush on Cleverly.
  • Sole Survivor: She's the only part of the old N4T1 who stays in Titan Academy, the rest got expelled or transferred out.
  • Star-Crossed Lovers: With Cleverly; once he is expelled from Titan Academy, Cleverly is sent away to a boarding school, and the two may never meet again. Diana has a flashback of the moments they shared together.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: In an inverse of her brother Ren Yi Xiang who took the other way around due to love, Diana became slightly less of a domineering girl and became kinder when she developed a crush on Cleverly.
  • Tragic Keepsake: Cleverly left behind his laptop for Diana to remember him after he's expelled.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: As a result of falling in love with Cleverly, she can get very confrontative if someone is bullying her nerdy boyfriend.

    Jasmine

Portrayed by: Jasmine Lee Hui Rong

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jasmine_t1t5.png

The queen bee of the class, an influencer who constantly uses social media to prep herself up and gathering followers to gossip around with. She's genuinely friendly to her friends, but can be nasty to whoever she deems annoying.

  • Anyone Can Die: Though not actually dying, but expulsion is considered similar enough. Jasmine is one of the more constant members of Team Titan and appearing in many skits. She got expelled regardless.
  • The Bus Came Back: She returned from expulsion as a result of the Heist, but she only makes appearance in the P.E episode and goes missing once again to resume her E-Sports career. But as of the 2023 new school year, she has returned to the Titan Academy.
  • Gamer Chick: She's one of the main female gamers of the group. Eventually after she's expelled she decides to pursue a career in e-sports.
  • Lovable Alpha Bitch: There are occasional times that her meanness shines through, completely bullying others and especially being needlessly mean to Denise or even stealing Diana's friends because she's statistically more popular (and Diana has been having hots on the nerdy Cleverly). But generally, Jasmine is also nice towards others and especially her clique.
  • Jerkass to One: She's fine with her other classmates, but she really doesn't like Denise and sees her as an annoying perfectionist.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: She's mean to Denise, and this causes her to request score revision since she thinks she deserves better, much like how Denise gets a successful score revision. Jasmine got a score decrease and got expelled instead.
  • Pet the Dog: When she and her clique found out that Kevin has snuck into the female's toilet and then reveals that he sometimes identifies as a woman, Jasmine decided to just accept that right away, no judgment, instead of making fun of him.
  • The Rival: Jasmine might start out affable and friendly with Diana, but they're still fiercely competitive on who can garner more followers. Jasmine even goes as far as stealing Diana's friends when she's doing something they disagree with, while using her statistic popularity as the tool for it. When she returns to the Academy, the first thing she does is to immediately resume their rivalry from where she left off.
  • Saying Too Much: Her downfall. If she has kept her mouth shut with her 50 grade, she could have avoided expulsion since it's still a passing grade. But she does, and she got 49 and an expulsion as a result.
  • Toxic Friend Influence: Usually, those under her clique will undergo a nastier shift in personality. This can be seen in Vicky and Cherylene; when they're still on Jasmine's clique, the two share Jasmine's dislike to Denise (and sometimes participate in her violence). In the latter episodes, when they become more independent from Jasmine, their attitudes to Denise became better and they are free to pursue their own characterizations (Vicky being the emo girl, Cherylene being the overly loud girl).
  • Valley Girl: Occasionally inserts some valley girl slangs, most likely because she likes to keep up her social media appearances.
  • Woman Scorned: She used to date Vincent early in Season 2, but somehow he broke up with her. She's pissed about it but rarely ever acted on it, mostly showing her annoyance to Denise (whom he has hots for afterwards). She finally got back on Vincent by sabotaging him during the Squid Game for it, though it was All Just a Dream. Though parts of it is still seen when she's back in the P.E Class and personally eliminates Vincent in the dodgeball scene right after he 'flirts' with Madeline.

    Pei Shi

Portrayed by: Soh Pei Shi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pei_shi_20.jpg
Ren Yi Xiang's love interest, although she's also dating Hamza. She is mostly a nice girl, but when the chips are down, she gets REALLY overbearing and humbug, throwing friends under the bus and scolding them when things don't go their way. She wants to stay as friends with Ren Yi Xiang, but is unaware that her own actions were the cause of his rejection and change.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Kind of zig-zagged actually. She's friendly and sweet, but if she wants something so badly, she turns into an overbearing Control Freak and wouldn't even mind throwing her friends under the bus.
  • Break the Haughty: After her darker bossy side was shown, Pei Shi didn't have a good time, it looked like nobody approached her as friends, and even Hamza broke up with her. She's even reduced to try and befriend Ren Yi Xiang again despite knowing that she hurt him before, only to get rebuked by Kevin who reminds her that a cheater like her doesn't deserve to be his friend anymore. By the time the pandemic ended, it looks like Hamza is the only one who accepted her back and being supportive with her, making him not just her boyfriend, but also her Only Friend.
  • Break-Up/Make-Up Scenario: After the group project where she showed her dark side, Hamza broke up with her. However, something might have happened between them during the pandemic, so when they return to school, they already restored their relationship.
  • Chewing the Scenery: She didn't show a lot of outbursts before, but it was noted that after she re-appeared for the third exam arc, she's been indulging in some loud scenery-chewing when grades are concerned. "THESE NOTES!?"
  • Competition Freak: She's very very concerned about her own grades and wants to at least stand amongst the highest (though not always the top), which explains some of her darker side in the Group Project, and why she's not going to share her notes for the exam.
  • Control Freak: Pei Shi always wanted to be in control and having things go her way. She berates herself for not living up to her standards in case she get less than expected grades, orders Mr. Lakosh around for how to take her class photo, demands total 'leadership' during group project (which backfired on her when she showcased just how humbug she was), and delegates all the talking job during her class presentation all for herself, leaving Hamza to be her Yes-Man for the presentation.
  • Innocently Insensitive: She just wants to continue being friends with Ren Yi Xiang while maintaining her relationship with Hamza and especially prefers his nerdy self. Problem is, she's unaware that it was her actions that turned Ren Yi Xiang into the bully that rejects her and continually hurt him, compounded with Poor Communication Kills.
  • It's All About Me: Though in an actually less severe level than Terry, it's quite clear that Pei Shi mostly has concerns for herself only. She studied so hard and made notes so she could pass the exam and live up to her standards, but she doesn't share with others: If they lacked notes, then it's not her fault they didn't make the notes.
  • Jerkass Has a Point:
    • During her tirade as the overbearing Control Freak in the Group Study, she actually scolded Ren Yi Xiang for not coming to the amusement park, to which Ren Yi Xiang shuts her up by telling her she's not worth fighting for, because he's already heartbroken. While it was true that Pei Shi still cheated on him, she was already patiently waiting for him near the arcade, giving him plenty of chances, but Ren Yi Xiang blew it by being indecisive in his home and giving time for Hamza (and his group) to steal his place.
    • In the Stuck in an Island episode, she may have been extra harsh and cruel to Ren Yi Xiang due to her previous heartbreak, but throughout the episode, Ren Yi Xiang has been acting as The Load that hampers the class' survival in a deserted island, especially when he had a phone that he instead used to play Family Island instead of helping others. In those cases, Pei Shi is completely justified in her harshness.
  • Leader Wannabe: She tried assuming leadership for her group, only for her to do nothing and leaving everyone to rebel and do the job without her input. She has since avoided this trope, usually deferring to the orders of the more capable leader (JianHao)
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: Even if she's mostly known as a grumpy Control Freak, the Christmas episode in 2022 shows that Pei Shi is capable of quick thinking: She manages to remember the heavy weight of the Nokia phone and uses Ren Yi Xiang's to cause an avalanche to drive away the bullies, even when Denise is nearby, being the one quick enough to save the day. There's a good reason why she's usually only a few grades behind Denise in school.
  • Love Triangle: She's being vied for the attention of Ren Yi Xiang and Hamza, but on the other hand, Kevin is also competing with her for Ren Yi Xiang's affections.
  • The Perfectionist: Downplayed. Pei Shi has high standards about her grades, but it's not as extreme as Denise's: While 65 is bad for her, she's fine with 84 (which would've been pretty good, but not perfect).
  • Reformed, but Rejected: After her disastrous results at group project, Pei Shi has taken steps to be less bossy and overdelegating in her tasks (like in her presentation, even at cost of making Hamza her Yes-Man) and tries to mend her friendship with Ren Yi Xiang and even tries to be nice on him (even if she blunders sometimes by bringing Hamza, but after he's Put on a Bus, she still tries to reconnect). Unfortunately, Ren Yi Xiang continues to reject her and blame her for his change, without even hearing her side of story (Even compared to herself who still wants to befriend him after catching him two-timing with Melody red-handed). Eventually this ends with Pei Shi declaring hatred to him after realizing that she's never going to be accepted again.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The red oni to Hamza's blue oni, as he appears to be calmer and less talkative than her.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: She has preference over kind and nice men, she actually liked the nerdy Ren Yi Xiang better than his bully self since as his nerdy self, he was quite the goody-two-shoes. And despite her flaws, Hamza has been generally nice and friendly to her (and generally being neutral with Ren Yi Xiang). Eventually deconstructed: Her desire to re-connect with Ren Yi Xiang is hampered with her being generally Innocently Insensitive and Ren Yi Xiang constantly insists on being a jerk to her and her only as a payback. This leads to Pei Shi declaring that she hates him and slaps him, thinking that his 'good man' self is most likely dead forever (though little did she know that he reverted back to his old nerdy self that she liked thanks to his head getting smacked by a ball).
  • Star-Crossed Lovers: Her two potential love interests are gone. Ren Yi Xiang was confirmed to be expelled, while Hamza is implied to have been expelled too, leaving Pei Shi's conflict with Ren Yi Xiang unresolved and has little chance to reconcile and she now has no one to rebound to. This was eventually remedied temporarily after the heist, because a new problem comes in.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Pei Shi is the successor of Lizz, who was written out as the former debuted, taking the role of Ren Yi Xiang's 'best friend', although she continues the plotline by adding the Love Triangle drama and their fractured relationship.

    Ben

Portrayed by: Ben Tang

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ben_8.png
The class' star sports player. Not exactly a smart student, but believes that he'll get a sports scholarship to make up for his bad grades. He's constantly stalked by Debbie, but also rejected her so he wouldn't be ridiculed by his peers. There are times that he actually regretted his actions and tried to make up for it, though.
  • Anyone Can Die: Though not actually dying, but expulsion is considered similar enough. Despite being Debbie's object of affection, it doesn't save Ben from being expelled.
  • Blessed with Suck: Ben is a gifted sports player to compensate being Book Dumb. In other universes, this could be a blessing. But in this verse, that just means he excels at the subject nobody gives a damn about and it usually won't help him in grades that matter: P.E.
  • Book Dumb: He's not academically gifted, but is very sure of his sports capabilities, thinking that his sports scholarship will save his bacon.
  • The Casanova: Ben is a Chick Magnet, he knows this and has a tendency to change girlfriends, preferably the more popular ones. Even as early in the first season, he's hitting on Nicole (but JianHao blocked off his advances to the point they were in opposition during the season), and then throughout the next seasons, he hit on Tiffany, and then in Season 4, with two new girl students. The one girl he refused to hit on at all? Debbie. Much to her consternation.
  • Character Development: Ben goes through a significant one. When he's introduced, he's a pretty, but mean and antagonistic jock, completely looking like a jerk to mostly everyone, especially Debbie, and easily changes girlfriends on a whim. After awhile juggling with his own conscience and trying to keep up his popular image, he realizes that he does like Debbie and is severely hurt when she rejects him for real due to his own actions. Afterwards, he tries to impress Debbie and be nicer, eventually culminating into being Debbie's Bully Hunter, and a more accepted one at that.
  • Heavy Sleeper: One of his less-jocky traits is that he easily falls asleep. A lot.
  • Jerk Jock: He flips flops between this and Lovable Jock. He can be nice to Debbie if he wants to, or genuinely nice with his 'cool boys' clique, but tends to be a jerk to her because Peer Pressure Makes You Evil, and he also used to have antagonistic relations with Jianhao in the earlier videos. He also almost broke into a chuckle when Vicky broke up with Hakim, only to take it back when reprimanded by Trev and the two proceed to comfort Hakim about being broken up.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: He kept rejecting Debbie to the point she now rejected him too. As a reminder, Ben is Book Dumb and mostly struggles with his non-sports grades that he could usually get by with Debbie's help. Now Debbie refused to associate with him, and Ben is most likely in big trouble academically with his only source of help refusing him all because he tried to maintain his 'not dating nerds' image too hard. Nice going, Ben.
  • Mr. Fanservice: Like most of the sports boys, Ben is incredibly attractive and ripped in muscles. And occasionally, he ends up having to play a Walking Shirtless Scene, like in the 13 Types of People Stuck on an Island episode.
  • No Sympathy: Once Debbie starts standing up for her own, nobody gave Ben any shred of sympathies. Even Nicole makes a remark that he's the type to dump girls that no longer interest him in his defense to get back on Debbie's good side, which has some nasty implications with the Nicole-Ben relationship dating back from Season 1.
  • Peer Pressure Makes You Evil: Or just makes him look like a jerk. He actually doesn't mind Debbie much, but he's scared to be ridiculed by his clique for hanging out with a nerd.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Surprisingly, he's the blue oni to Debbie's red oni, being remarkably less expressive than her.
  • Tsundere: He can act dismissive towards Debbie, but as long as his clique isn't trying to put pressure on him, he could afford to be genuinely helpful and sweet with Debbie.
  • Star-Crossed Lovers: He's expelled, causing any of his relationship with Academy girls such as Debbie or even Tiffany to become this. Thankfully it was temporary.

    Hakim

Portrayed by: Nurhakim Suhaimi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hakim.png
One of Ben's fellow sports player and Vicky's volatile boyfriend. He's actually kind, but his actions often take dangerous paths because if he interacts with other girls, even normally, Vicky will be there to scold him for being disloyal.
  • Accomplice by Inaction: One of the probable explanations why Vicky broke up with him even if Hakim didn't actively badmouth Madam Soot Beng (unlike Vincent, Trev and Julynn): Hakim didn't come to defend her despite being on a relationship with Vicky and he spotted Madam Soot Beng first and thus letting Vincent, Trev and Julynn start ridiculing her. He ended up letting those happen, so he's just as guilty in Vicky's POV. And he doesn't help things in the Back to School episode, where he still makes a joke about Madam Soot Beng.
  • Butt-Monkey: His volatile relationship with Vicky tends to make him more unfortunate than usual. And after Vicky broke up with him, he plunges deeper to this role.
  • Chewing the Scenery: Much like Pei Shi, Hakim started getting a little louder later on, in the third exam arc, his "WHAT!" tends to be visibly loud... and sometimes he indulges in No Indoor Voice, literally. He also develops a tendency to say "HAH!" loudly too.
  • No Indoor Voice: He ends up saying his plans out loud and being in denial that no one could realize his plans.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: Whenever he's about to deny something, he tends to be a little bit too specific.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: Downplayed. Outside, he's fully clothed. But in his home, he has a habit to just wear his Calvin Klein pants and nothing else. Miss Sherly gets him to wear something on his upper body at least for online classes.

    Madeline

Portrayed by: Silvy Wang

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/madeline_3.png
"No, it's okay, I wanna help. I know what it feels like to lose all your friends. I lost all my classmates too when I was forced to transfer to this school."

A friendly student who quickly befriends Vincent, with a generally understanding and considerate personality. She used to be part of the new N4T1 students after the mass expulsion, but after the school heist, Vincent manipulated her class placement so she gets to be in Class T1T5. She also has a fierce side that intimidates bullies, as proven with Nav and Russ, who most likely used to attend the same school as her.

  • Accidental Misnaming: The first time she met Kevin, she mistakenly thought he was Denise because Vincent only mentioned her and Jianhao (whom Maddy addresses correctly).
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Just as Vincent grew fond of her because she stood up for him, Maddy seems to develop a crush on him because he's very sweet with her.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: She's very friendly and comforts Vincent over his hatred of the new changes to Titan Academy because of the Organization's actions, but when she hears Nav and Russ, two jerkish bullies most likely from the same school as hers, badmouthing him immaturely, she delivers both of them a scathing "The Reason You Suck" Speech, reminding one of them of an embarrassing incident of his and intimidating the other.
  • Bully Hunter: She does not tolerate bullying.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Jealous of Denise since Vincent seems like he's still trying to win her over.
  • Hidden Depths: Her work during art class leaves her classmates awestruck.
  • Identical Stranger: Debbie mistakes her for Crystal because they look similar.
  • Implied Love Interest: For Vincent. After her introduction, Madeline and Vincent quickly grow close and he starts backing away from Denise, allowing Jianhao and Denise to pull their Relationship Upgrade. Though Vincent is still jealous over it. The "implied" part is starting to lessen as of late, though it remains to be seen if Vincent figured it out or not.
  • In-Universe Nickname: "Maddy".
  • Morality Pet: Madeline has the distinction of being the only character Vincent consistently shows kindness to, no strings attached.
  • Nice Girl: Very sweet and friendly.
  • Obsessed with Perfect Attendance: She refuses to miss a day of school, even when sick. But it's not for the reason you might expect. It was implied recently that she does this so that she gets to see Vincent everyday.
  • Official Couple: As of "13 Types of Students You'll Meet in Recess", she and Vincent are dating.
  • Replacement Scrappy: An in-universe version, at least for Julynn. Debbie promotes Maddy as a new 'Lynn' to make up for Cherylene being expelled (just so 'The Lynns' can still exist). Julynn, however, is not interested in putting someone else in the departed Cherylene's place, so everytime Maddy innocently smiles, greets or offers help to Julynn, she gets a 'Hmph!' response with Julynn facing away from her.
  • Sheep in Sheep's Clothing: Maddy comes in too fast and being too friendly and nice for Vincent that there's a lot who can't help to think that she's actually The Mole for the Organization, appearing too conveniently to drive a wedge between the old T1T5 class especially between Jianhao and Vincent. When the heist episode is teased, she's amongst the teased students, so people can't help but think that she's very sus. She proceeds to just not get involved yet still wishing the students luck and she doesn't expose them. Teverly is The Mole.
  • Sixth Ranger: She's a late-addition to the otherwise established T1T5 ensemble introduced in the end of the 4th season's major arc and becomes a recurring cast for the 5th (supposedly last) season, not too late enough to count as an 11th-Hour Ranger.
  • The Slacker: Downplayed. She doesn't like P.E class and avoids doing anything in it as much as possible... but everyone else does that too. If the class isn't P.E, she does like it and even endures sickness for it.
  • What Does She See in Him?: Several characters comment on her feelings for Vincent with incredulity.
  • Working Through the Cold: Maddy insists on going to school even when she's sick.

    Vicky

Portrayed by: Vicky Low

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vicky_7.png
Her character is not as cheery as this picture shows (until Season 8).

A consistently gloomy girl who doesn't like to express herself. She was in a relationship with Hakim, but the two tend to argue a lot. She's the daughter of Madam Soot Beng and her overbearing attitude and obsession with education got on Vicky's nerves, until she learned to respect her in I am a Teacher.

  • The Aloner: Even if her outlook with her mother has improved, she still would rather be alone to better improve her studies.
  • The Cynic: She doesn't have the brightest outlook towards the world or herself, although the I am the Teacher short mostly gets her out of this trope.
  • Emo Teen: She tends to be very gloomy due to her being pressured by her mom. People like to think she's overexaggerating, though.
  • Girl Posse: She used to be one for Jasmine, but hasn't been one again, especially after I am a Teacher. As Jasmine's posse, this mostly manifests in Vicky personally having a distaste for Denise being overachieving and 'trying too hard'.
  • Hates Their Parent: Vicky had a low opinion on Madam Soot Beng due to being an overbearing Education Mama AND being her Sadist Teacher and can't seem to talk about anything outside education. However, in I am a Teacher, she discovered that Soot Beng really loves her and became a waitress just to provide for her while not wanting to shame her on how low she stooped. And in the same time, turns out her sweet 'caring' father cares more about his newest crush. Safe to say, afterwards, Vicky became a lot more loving with Madam Soot Beng, but not so for her father.
  • Like Mother, Like Daughter: Her loudness and hidden fierce side had to come from being Madam Soot Beng's daughter. Even Jasmine lampshades it after Vicky shooed her with a Death Glare for 'trying to take away Hakim'.
Jasmine: Madam Soot Beng vibes, man...
  • My God, What Have I Done?: After getting slapped for talking back to her mother, Vicky declared that she should have gone with her father. But shortly after, she found out that her father didn't really give a rat's ass about her, and then she discovered that her mother became a waitress to provide for her, and her friends are mocking her because she's been a Sadist Teacher. Vicky then snaps back at her friends, ran to a lone place to cry, horrified that she's been so mean to her mother that actually loved her all along.
  • The Quiet One: She doesn't talk or emote much, and even earlier on, she didn't even get startled at things that would've startled others (such as Kevin being spotted in the female's toilet). If she's smiling, it's most likely because she had to follow Jasmine's example, being part of her clique. This has consistently stayed even after her Character Development, though she's less quiet than, say, Vicknesh.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: As The Quiet One, she is the blue oni to all the other students of Class T1T5, with even Denise having more openly emotional moments than her.
  • Slap-Slap-Kiss: Usually her relationship with Hakim revolve around this, with Vicky being overly paranoid with Hakim's poor choice of words. However, in the end, Vicky's development causes her to break their relationship instead of continuing.
  • Suddenly Shouting: She reads her presentation, abridging the events of I am a Teacher with a very low voice, but when others tell her to speak louder, she raises her volume to shouting levels just to tell them to stop interrupting her.
  • Troubled Teen: In the end, Vicky is a girl that has troubles heaped on her. Her father turns out to be a deadbeat Bitch in Sheep's Clothing, her mother is a severe Education Mama that restricts her without acknowledging her input and can't seem to talk about anything aside of education and her grades were failing. She seems to be moving out of the trope after I am a Teacher, though, when she finally grew to respect and love her mother.
  • Took a Level in Cheerfulness: In Season 8, somehow, despite being established as a very gloomy girl and her hated dad has returned to antagonize the whole academy, Vicky returns to be much happier and more prone to smiling. Her reasoning is that she has learned how to love herself more.
  • "Well Done, Daughter!" Girl: After I am a Teacher, Vicky is characterized as a girl who is trying her best to make her mother proud in order to repay everything she has gone through to provide for her. It bore fruit well: She got 95 in the 3rd exam, making Madam Soot Beng proud, and Vicky is able to show relief that she succeeded (when she got 95 in the 2nd exam, she was a lot more nonchalant since she hasn't developed that mindset yet).
