Tan Family

    Sylvia Tan

Portrayed by: Sylvia Chan

Jianhao's overbearing mother who sometimes embarrasses him, but occasionally comes with a wacky side. But in addition of that, Jianhao and Nicole fear her because she can be downright strict on them. Aside of that, she seems to be also a shrewd businesswoman. She also seems to be childhood friends with Madam Soot Beng.

  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: She has her own wacky methods to show her affections to her son "Hao Hao", but it mostly embarrasses or disrupts him.
  • Childhood Friends: Apparently, she was pals with Madam Soot Beng during childhood.
  • Ma'am Shock: Zig-zagged. When Kevin called her 'Auntie', she reacted badly, scolding at Kevin with a megaphone to press the point. When Kevin repeated the same thing in Jianhao's home and still remembering the incident with fear, Sylvia didn't even get mad, but prefers to be called 'Patricia'.
  • Informed Ability: Beneath her strict/wacky parenting attitude, it was said that she's a shrewd businesswoman but this was rarely shown, only referred with how she wanted Jianhao to succeed the business and how the family ended up very rich. One of Tasha's Conspiracy Theorist show that the Titan Academy is founded by 'Mr. & Mrs. Tan', so it may imply that Sylvia is the Greater-Scope Paragon of the show due to her businesswoman skills, but there's not enough proofs for that.
  • My Beloved Smother: Occasionally can be a little overbearing towards her children, though this is mostly Played for Laughs. The rest, though, she can show herself to be rather strict if she's disappointed.

    Walater

Portrayed by: Darrel Ng

One of the Tan family's butlers. He's generally more easygoing and helpful towards Jianhao, though sometimes his attempts to help backfire.

  • Butt-Monkey: Whenever he's dealing with Jianhao's and Nicole's antics, it's bound to end badly for him.

    Alfredo

Portrayed by: Melvinder Singh

One of the Tan family's butlers. He's generally the more silent one. He later resigned due to a Noodle Incident caused by Jianhao.

  • The Quiet One: He's the least talkative between himself and Walater.

    Gong Gong

Portrayed by: Jay Ng

Jianhao's maternal grandfather, though only appearing in earlier School videos and non-school videos. He's strict and concerned on Jianhao's welfare but can also be easygoing and roped into games that deal with history. He's later revealed to have passed away... and not in a peaceful manner either, but his name lived on somewhat.

  • Dropped a Bridge on Him: In a Q&A session, Jianhao Tan (the director) revealed that Gong Gong was eaten by a crocodile off screen in a sudden manner. Jianhao (the character), however, decided to adopt the crocodile and name him Gong Gong to honor his dead grandpa.

    Gong Gong the Crocodile

Portrayed by: CGI of a crocodile

Jianhao's pet crocodile, named after his grandpa. Sometimes used to devour homework so Jianhao can make excuses for not doing homework. Apparently doesn't bite. Also, it's just one of the crocodiles, Jianhao adopted an unnamed mate for it.

  • Cool and Unusual Punishment: Part of the punishment given to certain people: Gong Gong and its mate would surround the punished one (Walater) like a sandwich near the swimming pool while the punished one had both hands holding a pile of books on each palms. Again, Gong Gong's mere presence (despite it not biting) is enough to scare the hell outta those punished.
  • Never Smile at a Crocodile: Despite the claims that it doesn't bite, its sheer presence is enough to scare everyone it comes across.

Star Learning Centre

    Leanne Loh

Portrayed by: Mandy Leong

The director of the Star Learning Centre, a newly formed tuition center. After learning her son's first success in mathematic exam, she scouted his helper, Madam Soot Beng, to join her faculty. While she at first refused, being humbled by the events surrounding her, she eventually takes the chance to join Leanne as a teacher.

  • Ambiguous Situation: For the time being, it's unknown how Tasha found out about her name and decided it was worth mentioning for her conspiracy theories.
  • Nice Girl: She's very sweet when talking to Madam Soot Beng and offering her a job as a teacher in Star Learning Centre.

    Aiden Loh

Portrayed by: Lewis Loo

Leanne's son who actually struggles with math, until he meets Madam Soot Beng who helps tutor him. As a result, he succeeds in an exam, leading his mother to scout Soot Beng into her tuition center.

  • Small Role, Big Impact: If it weren't for him struggling to study in the same restaurant that Soot Beng worked in, his mother would've never gave her the chance to teach at her tuition center.

Miscellaneous/Unsorted

    Mr. Adam Alex

Portrayed by: Alex Lee

A manager of a branch of Tenderbest restaurant, he's generally helpful and supportive towards Madam Soot Beng, accepting her as a waitress when she couldn't find a job as a teacher, encouraging her to take the chance to teach again in Star Learning Centre, and still maintain a good friendship when she has a new home. He previously had a cameo as an Online Teacher for Class T1T5 as a 'Busy Teacher'.

  • Ascended Extra: He was only a one-time character during his debut and generally overshadowed with the guest teachers featuring big names like Wengie or Charles the French and his buddy Tada. Then he proceeds to be an extremely important character in I am a Teacher and the lore of Madam Soot Beng.
  • Benevolent Boss: During his time as Soot Beng's boss, he treated her very well.
  • Foil: Serves as this to James. Despite not being a family member, Adam is very kind, considerate, encouraging to Madam Soot Beng and they still kept in touch despite no longer being related with jobs, whereas despite being once her husband, James was uncaring, manipulative and generally gave Soot Beng good reasons why they're divorced.
  • Hidden Depths: Who knew the one-time guest teacher who was 'too busy' in making food instead of teaching turned out to be a restaurant branch manager? And a very benevolent one at that?
  • Nice Guy: He is very kind towards Madam Soot Beng, providing support for her during her difficult situation and gladly helping her.

    Milly

Portrayed by: Valerie Tan

James' one-and-off girlfriend whom he wants to move to China with. Unfortunately for her, she found out that James is cheating on her for another girl and left him.

  • Satellite Character: Her character is solely defined by being James' ex-girlfriend.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Despite only being seen as a Satellite Character for a few scenes (and the epilogue), she certainly impacted James' life for quite a capacity. It seems that this particular infidelity made his business falter, and forced him to go to the night class to salvage something in his life.

    Timmy's Mommy

Portrayed by: Vanessa Tiara Tay

Timmy's strict but caring mother who wants her son to stop being stuck at home and see the world.

  • Good Parents: She's a bit strict but loves her son and he loves her back.

    Mrs. Taylor (Denise's Mother)

Portrayed by: Shannon Zann

Denise's super strict mother with very high expectations. She demands that her daughter always get 100 marks at minimum (even 99 will piss her off), or else there would be severe consequences for Denise.

  • Abusive Parents: A mental variation. She pressures Denise to always get 100 marks and scolds her heavily when she dared to get 99, threatening her to send her Off to Boarding School as a result of further failure. And she doesn't look like she gives a damn on how it affects Denise's mental health.
  • Boyfriend-Blocking Mom: Expectedly, she does not like JianHao at the first sight, especially when said first sight is him and Denise dating.
  • The Bus Came Back: After her sole appearance in Season 4, she's largely absent. She returns in the tail end of Season 6, and she hasn't really changed.
  • Education Mama: Even Madam Soot Beng didn't demand Vicky to get 100 marks at minimum (she's pleased with just 95), but Mrs. Taylor did that since day one. Sure, Denise always get to be the top student as a result, but is she genuinely happy about it?
  • Foil: As a fellow Abusive Parents, Taylor creates a foil towards James.
    • While both of them are different variants of Abusive Parents (being either a Manipulative Bastard or an Education Mama), James has realized his mistake and tried to make amends with Vicky, eventually realizing that he's never going to be forgiven but still took his lessons at heart, still trying to care for Vicky's welfare even if she rejects him. Taylor, on the other hand, is still convinced thoroughly that her harsh methods are never wrong, and continues to push Denise to follow her vision and talking down whatever she feels to be obstructing her ideal vision, uncaring about Denise's personal thoughts about it.
    • Both are also different flavors of antagonists, even if they started out similarly as an antagonistic parent to their children. James is a member of the Organization, thus is the broader, more obvious antagonist to the whole academy, while Taylor's antagonism is more personal to both JianHao and Denise, and she's not a part of the Organization, she's just a normal parent.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: She was never seen before until the end of Season 4, and she's singlehandedly responsible for Denise's perfectionism and constant worry over her marks.
  • Pet the Dog: While she antagonizes JianHao, she surprisingly has no problems with Vincent. She lets Vincent go in peace after seeing him walking together with Denise and acting like a couple, since Vincent excuses himself quick enough without knowing their problem.
  • Shadow Archetype: She practically showcases an extreme example of Education Mama that Madam Soot Beng could become, if she was not tempered with her genuine love as a mother.
  • Teen Genius: Apparently in her teen age, she managed to develop a super AI on her own, something that Denise wants to surpass.
  • Unseen No More: She didn't get any mentions or appearance, but her influence has always been seen through Denise's perfectionist streak. By the tail end of Season 4, she makes an appearance, and she's as much as everyone expected her.

    Mr. Moneybags

Portrayed by: Yanz Sofyan

A ridiculously rich man who appears at a random basis to provide humor concurring with the plot of the day, he's been either an art critic or an island owner.

  • Accidental Hero: In the island episode, he ends up being the one to get Class T1T5 back home because he happened to buy the island.

    Peter Papadee

Peter Papadee

Portrayed by: Ridhwan Azman

Peter Papadum's brother, sporting a thick mustache and a thick accent like his brother. He's deliberately made to be less of a negative stereotype than his brother, whom he mentioned to have been 'cancelled'.

  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: He's Mr. Papadum's lookalike and replacement, just less stereotypical to avoid controversies in the future. Although he is not a teacher, he's meant to represent the return of Mr. Papadum in the continuity... sort of.
