Taylor, on the other hand, is still convinced thoroughly that her harsh methods are never wrong, and continues to push Denise to follow her vision and talking down whatever she feels to be obstructing her ideal vision, uncaring about Denise's personal thoughts about it.

Leanne's son who actually struggles with math, until he meets Madam Soot Beng who helps tutor him. As a result, he succeeds in an exam, leading his mother to scout Soot Beng into her tuition centre.

* SmallRoleBigImpact: Despite only being seen as a SatelitteCharacter for a few scenes (and the epilogue), she certainly impacted James' life for quite a capacity. It seems that this particular infidelity made his business falter, and forced him to go to the night class to salvage something in his life.

Madam Soot Beng's ex-husband, Vicky's father. He generally gives the aura of a sweet, caring father, but he turns out to be a playboy that ignores his own daughter in favor of whoever he's courting at the moment. Also said to own a company.

* BitchInSheepsClothing: He's sweet mannered and nice to Vicky, using words that endear her to him when Madam Soot Beng usually defaulted to being a strict EducationMama to her. However, in the face of his new lover, James immediately drops his nice attitude to Vicky and becomes more or less uncaring to his own daughter.
* TheBusCameBack: After only appearing in ''I Am a Teacher'' and flashbacks, James is back for a serious amount of screen time as one of the students in Night Class.
* TheCasanova: He's a playboy and serial cheater, and this was one of the reasons why Madam Soot Beng filed a divorce. Milly learned it the hard way in the end of ''I am a Teacher''.
* InsufferableGenius: During night classes, he gives off this aura. He's smug and intolerable with his bragging about owning a company and the skills he acquired from it, but he really is that good.
* JerkassHasAPoint: While he really doesn't have the best interest of Vicky at heart, James certainly made a good point that these all stemmed from how much Madam Soot Beng invested in her {{Pride}} as a teacher that she's having a hard time after being fired from the academy. His mistake is not realizing that Soot Beng undergoes CharacterDevelopment to fix her issues while he doesn't.
** Additionally, in the night school group project episode, he gives Jack valid advice about growing a spine and standing up to his domineering wife.
* ManipulativeBastard: Can be said that his sweet-talking with Vicky is to manipulate her to favor him more than Soot Beng (though he ended up revealing himself when Milly popped in). Even Soot Beng described him as 'manipulative' to a bank customer service.
* NotWhatItLooksLike: Debbie and Vicky walk in on James holding Debbie's mother from behind. He was helping her using the heimlich maneuver because she was choking on a cookie she made.

Somewhere in the future, however, he changed into a shameless womanizer (and a show-off, as shown in the Night Class) that Soot Beng rightfully filed a divorce. * {{Hypocrite}}: She'll find every reasons so Debbie stays 'homely' and 'nerdy' despite her beauty if she drops the nerdy tropes off, but when Debbie's not looking, she would do her best to make sure she's not looking ugly, homely and nerdy.
* MyBelovedSmother: To Debbie. She's still being seen as an inspirative mother and Debbie tends to obey whatever overbearing demands she made. For the most part, as long as Debbie doesn't go out of line, Chelsea does prove that she loves her daughter.
