Competitors Debuting in KfaD

    Off the Hook ft. Paruko

Click for KFAD 2 Picture
Qualifier: Backroom Pick
Placement (KFAD): 2nd
Placement (KFAD2): 25th

Finalist, having lost to Unregistered HyperCam 2. Off the Hook is a pop duo based in Inkopolis formed by an Inkling named Pearl and an Octoling named Marina. Joining them is a sea anemone named Parukonote  who serves as the lead member to a contemporary band, the Chirpy Chips. They bring rips from the Splatoon games to the table. In the second tourney, they now have arrangements in the Splatoon style and God of ink (which is definitely from Splatoon 2).

  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Paruko can't hold her attention for long as she's really hooked on her Game Boy.
  • Catchphrase: "Don't get cooked... Stay off the hook!"
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: They were the runner up in the first tourney, only behind Hypercam... and became one of the first competitors eliminated in the second after losing to King Dedede in the first round and then to Mariya at the Loser's Bracket. Understandably, the loss hit them hard.
  • Gamer Chick: Paruko always has a Game Boy in hand in the second tournament.
  • Insult Friendly Fire: In a hypothetical victory against Pitbull, Paruko calls him "overrated mainstream garbo" before doing a Verbal Backspace, since her teammates are also a mainstream pop duo (in their home game).
  • Named by the Adaptation: The name Glenna Nalira is used for Paruko in the first tournament, as she didn't have an official name yet. Promptly dropped and changed to Paruko in the second tournament, as she'd been named such in Japanese.
  • Stage Name: In-Universe, Glenna Nalira is described as a stage name, which Paruko decided to drop in favor of her real name for the second tourney.
  • Token Heroic Orc: Prior to the Octo Expansion update in their home game, Marina was the only known friendly Octoling.
  • The Knights Who Say "Squee!":
    • Paruko is apparently a fan of DJ Professor K and asks for his signature in their hypothetical matchup.
    • Pearl loves Maroon 5 as a Guilty Pleasure and similarly asks for an autograph from Adam Levine when she sees him in the Round 1 Losers support group. (She gets it.)

    Reggie Fils-Aime / Nintendo Power

Click for KFAD 2 Picture
Qualifier: Backroom Pick
Placement (KFAD): 3rd
Placement (KFAD2): 19th

Semifinalist, having lost to Off the Hook. President of Nintendo's America branch, Reggie Fils-Aime serves as the spokesman for the gaming company's overseas endeavors. Reggie is well-regarded by the gaming community as a never-ending supply of memetic phrases and in this tournament represents Nintendo as a whole rather than a single specific franchise... oh, and Fortnite, too. He teams up with Bill Trinen in King for Another Day, forming the duo "Nintendo Power".

  • Big Fun: Although not fat per se, Reggie does have a sizable build.
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Reggie dons a blue suit and Bill dons a red one, reflecting the Switch's main colors for the King for Another Day tournament.
  • Power Fist: In his character art for the first tournament, he wears brass knuckles... made out of Nintendo GameCubes.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: Wears suits in both of his appearances.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: a couple entries on the Mojo were written as Reggie's real-life counterpart was presenting on the Game Awards at that time.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Donuts for Bill.

    King Dedede

Qualifier: #1 Top-Voted by Fans
Placement (KFAD): 4th
Placement (KFAD2): 17th

Kirby's rival, and brings forth rips from the series as his sources. Semifinalist, having lost to Unregistered HyperCam 2.

  • Big Eater: Nearly as much of a glutton as Kirby, if not moreso, eating most anything and everything. His lack of pickiness on food lets him even enjoy Papyrus' cooking!
  • Butt-Monkey: Escargoon appears, and almost always get hit by Dedede.
  • Composite Character: He primarily has rips from the games, but seems to have his personality taken from Kirby: Right Back at Ya!.
  • Cool Mask: Wears his mask as Masked Dedede in the King for Another Day Tournament.
  • Those Two Guys: Never seen without Escargoon in the second tourney.
  • Morality Chain: Escargoon tries his best to restrain Dedede's less savory activities and reminds him of the frailty of the human physique when he tries to attack Weird Al.

Wario Bros. / Wario Partners, LLP
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/diuqmv_v4aaz_s9.png
Click for KFAD 2 Picture
Qualifier: Rippers' Pick (Wario), #2 Top-Voted by Fans (Waluigi)
Placement (KFAD): 5th
Placement (KFAD2): 16th
Leitmotif: "Waluigi Pinball" (Mario Kart DS)

Wario & Waluigi, this duo brings in games from the Wario series including WarioWare, Mario sports games, as well as Mario spin-offs excluding RPGs. Round 2 competitors, having lost to Off the Hook.

  • Badass Biker: Their appearances in the second tournament invoke this trope. Wario basically dons his WarioWare getup, while Waluigi wears an outfit that's in a similar style.
  • Butt-Monkey: Waluigi gets this treatment in his home franchise.
  • Drives Like Crazy: Count Cannoli accidentally runs over Mr. Bean after he was released from the hospital because he was looking at Discord while driving his Mad Hat.
  • Fat and Skinny: Wario is the fat, Waluigi is the skinny.
  • Greed: Wario would go to hell and back if it meant grabbing even a single coin. Marina references his greed after beating him.
  • Nominal Hero: With a tinge of Jerk with a Heart of Gold. Due to their lack of actual villainy as of late and Wario's occasional bouts of greed-tinged heroism, KO's POW cards give them both a Hero Level of 6.
  • Those Two Guys

    Thanos

Click for KFAD 2 Picture
Qualifier: #4 Top-Voted by Fans
Placement (KFAD): 6th
Placement (KFAD2): 24th

Round 2 competitor, having lost to Reggie. Hailing from the moon Titan, Thanos has an obsession with Mistress Death and wishes to kill off half the universe to win her heart. In the tournament, Thanos represents the Marvel vs. Capcom series and other Marvel Comics-based spinoffs, in addition to Fortnite due to his appearance in that game. In King for Another Day, he swaps out Fortnite for rips from Disney properties, including Disney Theme Parks, video games, and Star Wars.

  • Badass Fingersnap: It's said that he could wipe out half the universe with one snap of his fingers at his Infinity Gauntlet's fullest power, and he does just this in his starring role in the Marvel films. He manages to use one of these snaps just once on a single target.
  • Celebrity Endorsement: As a tongue-in-cheek nod of Disney's acquisition of Marvel, Thanos almost always mentions his affilations with Disney and considers having the company buy the tournament out in the second tournament.
  • Dark Reprise: His victory theme in King for Another Day contains one of "When You Wish Upon A Star".
  • Power Fist: His Infinity Gauntlet, which he is depicted wearing with all six Infinity Gems socketed in his art for the tournament.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: His KfAD2 getup has him dressed in a full Mickey Mouse outfit, which naturally doesn't have a shirt.
  • Worthy Opponent: Says this about DJ Professor K in a hypothetical victory against him for the first tournament, and later, to Metal Ajit Pai in the second.

    ZUN
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dikewpkxsaaos49.png
Click for KFAD 2 Picture
Qualifier: #6 Top-Voted by Fans (by merging all votes for Touhou Project characters)
Placement (KFAD): 7th
Placement (KFAD2): 22nd
The one and only man behind the Touhou Project series, he has rips related to his games and projects he's worked on, alcohol, and even Touhou fangames. Round 2 competitor, having lost to Unregistered HyperCam 2.
  • all lowercase letters: The Reimu fumo's lines are written like this, although she slips into proper capitalization sometimes.
  • Bilingual Bonus: Slips into Japanese in his match-up against Mariya Takeuchi.
  • Blow That Horn: His buffs include rips with prominent horns, which are also prominent in his compositions for Touhou.
  • Companion Cube: The Reimu fumofumo doll in his KfAD2 getup, as they didn't cover the real Reimu's travel expenses. It is indeed alive, as Meowth and Hypercam find out on their lunch break, though ZUN seems unaware of this quality of her until the after-party.
  • Deadpan Snarker: The Reimu fumo, much like her real counterpart.
  • Drunken Master: Regarded as a masterful musician and is never seen without a bottle of alcohol at his side. Heck, he even has "Rips related to alcohol" as a source!
  • Defeat Equals Friendship: According to the Mojo, he strongly believes that just because someone is your opponent now, that doesn't mean they will always be, and he holds no hard feelings towards his past opponents. This is also something very prominent in the Touhou series.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: The Reimu fumo questions how ZUN's laughs are written.
"ok fair, but I gotta ask: Why do you keep saying *laughs* like that?"

    Etika
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/djh6ecnwsaync_2.png
Click for KFAD 2 Picture
Qualifier: Backroom Pick
Placement: 8th
Desmond Daniel Amofah, aka Etika W Network, was a livestreamer who competed in the first King for a Day Tournmaent, and was planned to team up with Reggie as the Joy-con Men. He would bring rips related or themed around him and rips related to the Super Smash Bros. franchise.
  • The Bus Came Back: After the end of the tournament, a rip of Lifelight featuring him was uploaded complete with an updated KFAD2 style portrait in tribute to him due to his real-life counterpart's tragic passing earlier that year.
  • Non-Gameplay Elimination: While he was originally intended to be in a tag-team with Reggie in the King for Another Day tournament, SiIvaGunner's team removed his character due to recent events regarding the actual Etika's mental state.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: Excluded from the second tournament as his real-life counterpart was going through a mental health crisis, and the team felt it would bring unwanted attention to him and possibly be in poor taste to include him.

    Geno

Qualifier: #5 Top-Voted by Fans
Placement (KFAD): 9th
Placement (KFAD2): 27th
One of Mario's team members in Super Mario RPG, the denizen of the Star Road brings rips of Mario RPGs and music composed by Yoko Shimomura to the table. Round 1 competitor, having lost to the Wario Bros.
  • Graceful Loser:
    • Has nothing but respect for Weird Al after losing to him in King For Another Day.
    • He also tells Bill Trinen that he's fine not being playable in any Super Smash Bros. game and that he is satisfied simply being a mii costume in for 3DS/Wii U, then a spirit in Ultimate, though he does admit that he wishes that Sheik didn't represent him as a spirit since she can't use anything similar to Geno's hand gun.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Doesn't recognize Wario when battling him in the first tourney, seeing as Wario didn't exist at the time of Super Mario RPG.

    Solid Snake
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/djxu5w8uyaaccxb.png
Click for KFAD 2 Picture
Qualifier: Rippers' Pick
Placement (KFAD): 10th
Placement (KFAD2): 23rd

Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid, bringing forth rips from the games, rips related to stealth and boxes, and later in King for Another Day, rips featuring all works from Hideo Kojima. Round 1 competitor, having lost to Off the Hook.

  • Badass Longcoat: He dons Gillian Seed's trenchcoat in KFAD2, stressing his representation of all of Kojima's works and not just his own series. Humorously, there's a cutout on the back of the coat to show his butt as shown in his pre-release artwork.
  • Female Gaze: His butt was heavily pronounced on his character art for the first tournament. His getup for the second tournament has a hole cut out in place for his butt, as KO's POW Card illustration shows.
  • Hit Me, Dammit!: He apologizes to Hakuko for accidentally punching Don-chan by letting her have a free shot at him, knocking him out cold.
  • Out of Focus: He's the veteran with the least amount of promotional rips for King for Another Day, and ties with Eminem for the least amount of rips overall, though it's downplayed due to being one of the more prominent characters on the Mojo.
  • Poor Communication Kills: His fallout with the Rhythm Masters was caused by his poor justification for accidentally attacking Don-chan after his loss against them in the Loser's Bracket. Even when they made up after the tournament, Snake still had difficulty explaining his way to apologize to Hakuko.
  • Super-Soldier: Solid Snake is a genetic clone of Big Boss - who is widely regarded as one of these - and he definitely takes after his biological father.

    Dancing Alien Team
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dancing_alien_team____transparent_version_by_fluffyslipper_dcikr5s.png
From left to right: Popoy, Howard, and Marcianito.
Qualifier: Most Interesting Fan Suggestion
Placement: 12th
Round 1 competitors, having lost to Reggie. Comprised of the aliens Marcianito, Popoy, and Howard, this extraterrestrial trio brings alien-themed rips as well as songs associated to them ("Nunca Me Faltes" by Antonio Rios for Marcianito, "Dame Tu Cosita" by El Chombo for Popoy, and "Money Longer" by Lil Uzi Vert for Howard) to the table. The team disbands partially and joins with Pitbull and Will Smith to form new teams for the second tournament.
  • A Day in the Limelight: The 2022 All-Star Nuclear Winter Festival "Alien Day" event features rips dedicated to their sourcelist, with them taking over the channel during that period.
  • Aerith and Bob: They consist of Popoy, Marcianito, and... Howard.
  • Amusing Alien: Given that all three originate from humorous music memes, this is expected.
  • Alien Autopsy: Inverted in a hypothetical victory against Off the Hook.
Howard: THE INVERTEBRATES HAVE BEEN TERMINATED. PREPARE THEM FOR DISSECTION.
  • Anal Probing: Implied when they went up against Reggie in the first tournament. Popoy asks for Reggie's ass since his body is ready.
  • Benevolent Alien Invasion: Despite wanting to Take Over the World, they do not want to destroy humanity, and are only here to dancenote . This is why Howard left the team to join Will Smith, forming the Men in Black.
  • Bilingual Bonus: Popoy and Marcianito speak exclusively in Spanish in the first tournament. Marcianito even originates from a Spanish meme.
  • Breaking the Fellowship: They split up after the first tournament due to differing views, and joined with both Will Smith and Pitbull to form two new teams for the second tournament.
  • Caps Lock: Howard speaks exclusively in this manner. Marcianito also slips into this in a hypothetical matchup against Unregistered HyperCam 2.
  • Crossover: This is the only team of characters competing that were not already part of the same canon (unless you count Popoy and Howard both belonging to viral 2018 memes). The team character bio is something of an original narrative by the SiIvaGunner team to unify the three memes.
  • Dance Sensation: They sway millions into copying their dance moves, taking advantage of human fascination with aliens. Popoy especially, as he represents "Dame tu Cosita", likely the most infamous Dance Sensation of 2018.
  • Exposed Extraterrestrials: All of them are nude. Somewhat averted in the King for Another Day tournament with Howard wearing a tie and Cool Shades.
  • Gratuitous Spanish: Popoy and Marcianato both originate from Spanish music videos and as such speak exclusively in Spanish in the first tournament. This winds up being downplayed for Popoy and dropped altogether for Marcianito come KFAD2. The unused dialogue reveals that the only reason it was dropped was because the team was eliminated before Marcianito got a chance.
  • The Greys: Howard is this kind of alien. The team in general exhibits typical behavior for this alien type.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Popoy developed this and a much more foul mouth as a result of losing early into KFAD1 and transitions into damn near Unstoppable Rage after the team's first loss and elimination. He doesn't calm down until after the Dancing Alien Team bury the hatchet and reform.
  • The Heart: Marcianito is perhaps the most emotionally stable of the aliens, acting as a balance to the two others. As shown by the unused dialogue he would've also reigned Popoy in when he got too rude... or too affectionate as this unused Vs. Maria Takeuchi line shows.
Popoy: ¡Ey, dame un poco de esa cosita japonesa! (Hey, give me some of that little Japanese thing!)
Marcianito: popoy por favor (popoy please)
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: As proven by the POW Card KO collected of him, despite his foul temper and rude personality Popoy has a Hero Level of 1, the same as characters like Geno and Quote, meaning he's at least on the side of good.
  • Little Green Men: Popoy and Marcianito are this kind of alien, Marcianito moreso.
  • Lovable Sex Maniac: Likely due to the phallic motions of his memetic dance, Popoy is a bit of a horndog. Things like "species barriers" are no object to him either.
  • Meaningful Name: "Marcianito" is Spanish for "little martian".
  • Only Sane Man: Marcianito is a Downplayed example. The beef that caused the Dancing Alien Team to split up was between Popoy and Howard, so Marcianito has no stake in it and answers in the affirmative when asked if he'd want to work with Howard again. His indifference to their beef is what allows Howard and Popoy to finally bury the hatchet and reunite the Dancing Alien Team.
  • Pokémon Speak: For the second tournament, downplayed in Marcianito's case. He did get to say something in the match-up against Solid Snake, but his appearances on the MOJO!! has him only speaking the words "ayy lmao" and "yeah".
  • The Quiet One: Howard during the first tournament. In the hypothetical matchups video, he has only four lines of dialogue (and one is just an ellipsis) with Popoy and Marcianito providing the rest of the team's dialogue.
  • Take Over the World: Sometimes stated to be a goal of theirs. They also take over Pop Star in a hypothetical victory against King Dedede.

    Pitbull (and the Aliens)

Placement (KFAD): 13th
Placement (KFAD2): 28th

Mr. Worldwide himself, bringing forth rips featuring his own songs and Latin-American music into his sources. Round 1 competitor, having lost to ZUN. He teams up with Popoy and Marcianito in the second tournament due to the prior's collaboration in an official music video of Pitbull, and together they add a combined new Latin flair to their sources.

  • Motor Mouth: He talks A LOT.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: Sure enough, the real Pitbull went on to make a cover of Dame Tu Cosita, featuring Popoy in the music video, after the first tournament. This nicely sets up them forming a team in the second tournament, with Marcianito added in to complete the theme of Latin-American music.
  • The Pollyanna: Despite being one of the first eliminated in both tournaments, he seems to not take any loss personally, and views the experience as a low-stress experiment with new audiences and to have fun while doing it. He shares this sentiment to Adam Levine, who frankly just didn't want to be in the tournament at all.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air himself, Will Smith. He brings in rips related to his music and acting career, as well as the YTP duology The Fesh Pince of Blair. Round 1 competitor, having lost to Unregistered HyperCam 2. He teams up with Howard from the Dancing Alien Team in the second tournament while donning his Agent J persona, becoming the new team "Men in Black", adding extraterrestial sources onto his list.

  • Curb-Stomp Battle: In the first tournament, Will was on the receiving end of one from Unregistered Hypercam 2.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: As Agent J, Will has a standard issue Men in Black Neuralizer to quickly remove the memories of those who saw too much. He uses this at the end of his interview on Meowth and Hypercam, after he got a little too reckless when chatting about sensitive information.
  • 10-Minute Retirement: Is about to have Howard neuralize him to go back to being just Will Smith, but they are distracted by the rest of the Dancing Aliens and he decided he can do it later.

    "Weird Al" Yankovic

Click for KFAD 2 Picture
Qualifier: Rippers' Pick
Placement (KFAD): 16th
Placement (KFAD2): 8th

The most famous parody musician, "Weird Al" Yankovic was the very first person eliminated in the first tournament. With the determination to win the second, he conjured 「BEAT IT」, a stand or so it seemed that gave him the musical library of Michael Jackson, as well as changing his appearance to what he looked like back in The '80s.

  • Arc Number: 27. Prominent in his music and the reason he picked his hotel room number in the Gaylord, as well as the score given to HOBaRT's spaghetti.
  • Badass Back: 「BEAT IT」's art shows him standing with his back to the camera, and with Weird Al, the two make for a formidable contender in the KFAD2 tournament.
  • Foreshadowing: Despite being promoted to have a Stand in the second tournament, he didn't have access to JoJo-related music in his source list note . Additionally, while in JoJo canon, only Stand users can see Stands, other characters in the tournament (such as Mariya Takeuchi, if her victory quote against Al is any indication) could see 「BEAT IT」. After Al's elimination at Mariya's hands, the Mojo revealed that 「BEAT IT」 was not a Stand at all, but Michael Jackson's actual spirit.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: Eminem and Mr. Krabs learn the hard way when the frilled panties they stole in "The Panty Raid" were Weird Al's.
  • Speaks in Shout-Outs: 「BEAT IT」's first speaking occurance has him speak entirely in the lyrics of Michael Jackson's music.
  • Spirit Advisor: 「BEAT IT」 is revealed to be not a Stand but Michael Jackson's spirit, who helps Weird Al come to terms with his elimination before moving on to the other side.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Both in his character art, which now depicts him as a Stand user, and his performance in the King for Another Day tournament, where he managed to make it into the final eight of the tournament before being eliminated by Mariya Takeuchi.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: His promotional rips weren't uploaded to the channel until after he lost his round in the first King for a Day tournament.

Competitors debuting in KfAD2

    Mariya Takeuchi
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mariya_takeuchi.png
Reveal Trailer Rip: SiIva Direct 4.1.2019
Qualifier: Unique Fan Submission
Placement: 2nd
Leitmotifs: Plastic Love
After her song, "Plastic Love", went viral overseas, Mariya Takeuchi became famously known worldwide for her contributions towards the Japanese pop/funk genre. She joins the tournament with rips featuring music from herself and other rips from City Pop and Future Funk music.
  • Bilingual Bonus: Being Japanese herself, she slips into her native language in some matchups.
  • Book Ends: She lost both the very first match of the King for Another Day tournament as well as the very last match.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Every single match she was in on her trek through Losers' Bracket was this in her favor. She even outlasted Jack Bros, who put her there!
  • Deliberately Monochrome: Described as black & white in the interviews. However in her art, she's monochromatically purple.
  • The Final Temptation: A less-serious example, but she is on the receiving end of MissingNo.'s attempt to get her to throw the tournament in return for having her powers fully explained by it. She declines.
  • Fish out of Temporal Water: Was brought into the tournament from the past. She actually ends up adapting with no troubles and never makes a big deal out of being in the present, although she is very confused about the how and why.
  • Heroic Second Wind: In the first match of her first round, she lost to Jack Bros... but throughout the entirety of the Losers' Bracket she dominated the matches, and achieved a victory against MissingNo. (who was in a similar scenario) in the finals, ultimately securing the position of runner-up in the tournament.
  • Innocently Insensitive: One of her unused lines against Nico Nico has her admit that she likes YouTube better as a streaming platform. As Nico Nico is the personification of Nico Nico Douga itself, the admission is tantamount to insulting her very existence.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: With DJ Professor K. The two show nothing but respect for each other, and it shows in their battle dialogue. He's even the person who helps her unlock her setlist's true potential in "Mahi-Mahi Riding the Bassline".
  • Nice Girl: Is very respectful towards the contestants, even brushed off MissingNo.'s threat with a compliment. The only time she expressed disgust was the match against Wario Partners, LLP.
    Mariya: "何にの人たち、こんなに失礼な人初めて見たわ!"Translation
  • Plot-Relevant Age-Up: Inverted; Mariya has been aged down so she could better resemble her appearance on the "Plastic Love" cover. Justified as she was brought into the tournament from the past.
  • Reality Warper: As MissingNo. reveals, much like her music can supposedly manipulate the YouTube algorithm to be recommended years after release, she has the ability to "manipulate the algorithm of reality". However, she has no idea how to use these supposed powers.
  • Worthy Opponent: Often speaks to much of her competition with respect as fellow artists. Professor K, in turn, sees her as someone who was perfectly capable of taking the tournament and somewhat wished she won.

    Law and Disorder

Reveal Trailer Rip: SiIva Direct 9.21.19
Qualifier: Art Team’s Choice
Placement: 3rd
An unlikely alliance was formed between two characters of virtually opposite ideals during this tournament. The blue-clad legal defender Phoenix Wright and the despair-obsessed teddy bear Monokuma decide to join forces in order to solve the mysterious case of who assaulted Mr. Bean. And if they so happen to win the tournament in the meantime, then there'll be no objections from either of them. They have rips not only hailing from both of their native series, but all games of the mystery genre as well, such as Professor Layton and Ghost Trick. They also get rips related to both mysteries and courts.
  • Break the Haughty: Monokuma is on the receiving end of this trope thanks to DJ Professor K, who demonstrates that he doesn't care about Monokuma's self-enforced rivalry and refuses to be an example of his Humans Are Murderous belief.
  • Crossover: One of two newcomer teams to be a crossover between series, the other being Rhythm Masters.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: This personified. The only time in their entire uninterrupted through Winners' bracket they didn't break 1,000 was against Weird Al, where they still won by a quite wide margin. Even their battle against DJ Professor K, where they lost, was hard-fought.
  • Order vs. Chaos: They could not fit this dynamic any better, considering that Phoenix is an official defense attorney who fights to get his clients declared innocent through courts of law, while Monokuma is a maniacal teddy bear designed to spread despair by arranging students into killing games. The main thing that ties these two together is their use of court trials in both of their games.
  • Out of Focus: Between the two members of the team, Phoenix is often left to the sidelines in the context of the MOJO!!, as Monokuma has had several solo interviews where he takes charge, and has personally created a rivalry between himself and DJ Professor K, a dynamic he describes as "the protagonist vs the handsome villain and his henchman of truth." Wright obviously doesn't take well to his position in this dynamic.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Monokuma is the manic counterpart to Phoenix's comparatively more subdued personality.

    MissingNo.

Reveal Trailer Rip: SiIva Direct 9.21.19
Qualifier: Rippers' Pick
Placement: 4th
The most infamous Glitch Entity of all time, making its unintentional debut in Pokémon Red and Blue if the player surfs up and down in the waters near Cinnabar Island. While it was relatively tame in its source game, its presence in the tournament unleashes countless instabilities, wreaking havoc despite its best efforts to reel it back. A vote for it is a vote for rips with glitches, unused content, and video game creepypastas.
  • Afraid of Their Own Strength: It was reluctant to join the tournament and tries to leave during the event, as it's aware that its powers could potentially destroy the entire event.
  • Apologises a Lot: If even the slightest thing goes wrong as a result of MissingNo.'s actions, it won't hesitate to apologize.
    • Guilt Complex: Goes as far as to blame itself for meta errors that occurred early on in the event, even if they were never proven to be its doing.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: While it does project Creepypasta-like imagery and sometimes takes trashtalking a little too far, it is very far from malevolent.
Hypercam: ur not a murdrer bro ur js spoky
  • Evil Laugh: Its victory theme contains Kefka Palazzo's, infamously known as Sonic.exe's laugh.
  • Lethal Chef: Played with: While serving as HOBaRT's apprentice in the kitchen, it has created creepy pasta and glitch-coated knishes. It actually turns out to be perfectly fine food, if you don't mind the hallucinogenic aftertaste.
  • Painting the Medium: Its page on the Mojo Website is filled with coding errors and glitched text. The same applies to most "interviews" it becomes involved with across the site.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: Causes havoc everywhere it goes.
  • Reality Warper: Corrupted several interviews, gave HOBaRT a voice, cast several contestants in the opening scene of The Dark Knight Rises and even brought Mariya back through time. And that's just the beginning.
  • Shapeshifting: Impersonates the other contestants. This seems to be a way of negating its instabilities and Person of Mass Destruction nature, but the others convince it to show its natural form.
  • Throwing the Fight: Attempted to get itself kicked out several times before HyperCam convinced it to stay. Also offered having Mariya do this to teach her its Reality Warper powers, but was negotiated out of it.

The Jazz Cats

From left to right: Shades DuPris, Tom "Milk Bowl" Malone, and sphelonious donk.
Reveal Trailer Rip: SiIva Direct 9.21.19
Placement: 6th
Leitmotifs: The Lick
Eighteen year old feline and saxophone musician, Shades DuPris, unintentionally formed a band with two other colleagues at Barkley's freshman jazz jam session. With Tom "Milk Bowl" Malone playing bass and sphelonious donk playing on the piano, the trio performed famous jazz tunes for the world to hear.
  • And Introducing: Get this in the KFAD opening video, thanks to their being more-or-less original creations of the channel, a trait they share with HOBaRT.
  • all lowercase letters: sphelonious donk's name is spelled like this, as his all of his dialogue, with the exception of the one "SILENCE" towards a very rude customer.
  • The Beastmaster: sphelonious donk has three mice at his beck and call that seem to be his minions. He calls on them to count off the song the Jazz Cats play in their reveal trailer.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Shades and Milk Bowl are more than eager to lay down snide remarks against their opponents, especially in the hypothetical match-ups.
  • Original Generation: While their design is taken from a particular painting of cats playing instruments, almost everything else about them, including their backstory, personalities, and music sources are original creations by the channel. Several videos have been made to flesh out their world and give a framework to their performance in tournament.
  • Power Floats: As shown in their cameo in the ending of "Party's Over...", sphelonious donk is able to float and lift the utensils around him.
  • Reality Warper: sphelonious donk. He phased a complaining customer out of existence.
  • Voice of the Legion: sphelonious donk speaks with an ominous echo that sounds like multiple voices atop another. This is one of his tamer traits.

    Rhythm Masters
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rhythm_masters.png
Qualifier: Popular Fan Submission (rhythm game characters)
Placement: 7th
Two rhythmically-minded people that came together when they realized how in sync they were. With the Rhythm League backing up the Tap Trial girl — now named Hakuko — and the taiko-drumming beats of Wada Don, they're aiming to go for a Perfect and spread their love of rhythm to the SiIvaGunner channel.
  • Apologetic Attacker: Don-chan thanks Snake for the pep talk before the match after his defeat.
  • Crossover: One of two newcomer teams to be a crossover between series, the other being Law & Disorder.
  • Irony: Lost in round 1 by 0.1%, the equivalent of failing a Perfect or a Full Combo on the last note. And this came after Hakuko said she had no excuse not to get a Perfect.
  • Named by the Adaptation: The Tap Trial girl is given the Punny Name of Hakukonote  here.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Hakuko was quick to accuse Solid Snake for attacking Don-chan by accident after his loss on the Loser's bracket, without letting him explain as such. This causes a fall out between them and isn't resolved until the after-party.
  • Verbal Tic: "Da-don" for Don-chan.

    Jack Bros.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jack_bros_5.png
Qualifier: Unique Fan Submission
Placement: 9th
Hailing from the Shin Megami Tensei series and its spinoff titles, this tag team consists two of the most recurring demons in the franchise: Jack Frost and Mothman. The team provides rips featuring music from games developed or published by Atlus.
  • Hulk Speak: How Mothman talks.
    Mothman: "ME EAT YOU WHOLE."
  • An Ice Person: Jack Frost.
  • One-Steve Limit: Played with, since there's already another Jack in the tournament, namely Jack Black, Elmo refers to Jack Frost as "Mr. Other Jack".
  • Sticky Fingers: Mothman has been caught lifting many items, including a hand sanitizer complete with the stand.
  • Verbal Tic: "Hee-ho" for Jack Frost.

    Johnny Bravo
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/johnny_bravo_0.png
Reveal Trailer Rip: The 2019 Channel Update Vlog
Qualifier: Art Team's Choice
Placement: 11th
With an ego as gigantic as his muscles, Johnny Bravo frequently attempts (and fails) to impress women in his show. His sources include rips featuring music from Cartoon Network originals and other music from Hanna-Barbera shows that have previously aired on the same platform.
  • Casanova Wannabe: Johnny's whole shtick.note  Naturally, he tries to flirt with most of the female characters he comes accross, like Undyne, Marina, Hakuko, and Mariya.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: He gets along really well with KO, with their dynamic being that of a cool older brother and his starry-eyed little brother. The friendship is also shown to be authentic, as Johnny is legitimately moved to tears by KO's modified POW card of him (which scribbles out his Hero Level of 4 for "A MILLION!!" and shows that KO considers the two of them BFFs).
  • Keet: KO is really enthusiastic about meeting the contestants.
  • Mythology Gag: KO's appearance as a guest of Johnny Bravo's may reference his involvement in the episode "Crossover Nexus", where Double D, Buttercup, Samurai Jack, Courage, Grim, and Johnny himself made cameos as part of Strike's "trophy collection".
  • Obvious Rule Patch: He doesn't get music from The Flintstones or The Jetsons. No explanation is provided in-universe, but given the channel's history, it isn't unjustified.
  • Sand In My Eyes: He starts to tear up after seeing all the positive messages KO drew on his POW Card. When KO asks about it, Johnny replies with this trope.
  • Worthy Opponent: Has shown a great fondness for his first opponent in the loser's bracket, Geno. After helping him get the full CN cast into the studio, Geno asks for a fair fight and that the best man win, which Johnny accepts. Even after Johnny wins the match, his victory quote is one of the nicest in the tournament so far:
Johnny Bravo: Sorry about the loss, dolly, but you're welcome to come visit CN City anytime!

    Dr. Piccolo

Placement: 12th
When Son Goku was diagnosed with the Ligma virus, Dr. Piccolo came out of his retirement to save his ally and the rest of the world by using his daily doses. His character provides rips from Shonen Jump content, rips related to medical practice, and (not surprisingly) rips featuring Green and Purple by Kritikal.

    Dr. Robotnik
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dr_robotnik_3.png
Reveal Trailer Rip: SiIva Direct 4.1.2019
Qualifier: Popular Fan Submission
Placement: 13th
Dr. Robotnik as he appears in Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. He offers rips of YTP edits featuring himself, rips from the entirety of the Sonic The Hedgehog series (including Sonic Mania), the Puyo Puyo series, and every Sonic cartoons before Sonic X.
  • Adaptational Sexuality: Zig-Zagged. Talks about his "husband" Satan, but it's not clear if he's actually married to him or not.
  • Big Beautiful Man: Sees himself as being this and was intentionally designed by DiC's Milton Knight to be "animation's sexiest fat man".
  • Break the Haughty: Had a full-on meltdown when Hakuko and Jack Black admitted his robot-building skills were not that good.
  • Jerkass: Berates everyone he meets, especially the Nintendo representatives.
  • Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny: Went up and won against Nintendo Power in Loser's Round 2 as a representative of their greatest former rival, Sega.

    Donkey Kong
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/donkey_kong_9.png
Reveal Trailer Rip: SiIva Direct 9.21.19
Qualifier: Popular Fan Submission
Placement: 14th
The heroic tie-wearing ape from Kongo Bongo and the guardian of the Crystal Coconut, Donkey Kong offers rips from his home series, as well as rips featuring songs from the Donkey Kong Country cartoon, and rips featuring monkeys.
  • Composite Character: Has the appearance and personality of his DKC cartoon incarnation, but represents the game franchise as well.
  • Decomposite Character: Despite the above, he's entirely separate from the game version of Donkey Kong who appears as one of the figments kidnapped by The Voice in the Christmas Comeback Crisis.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Bananas, to the point of frequently leaving the peels out in the Gaylord's lobby.

    Papyrus
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/papyrus_undertale.png
Reveal Trailer Rip: SiIva Direct E3 2019
Qualifier: Popular Fan Submission (Sans)
Placement: 15th
The immensely popular puzzle-loving skeleton from Undertale. Papyrus entered the tournament in the place of his brother, Sans, who felt like being a king was too much work. A vote for him was a vote for rips featuring himself, music from puzzle games, music about skeletons, and pasta.
  • Convenient Replacement Character: Sans was too much of a Lazy Bum to enter the tournament. Good thing his brother is far more proactive.
  • Heart Is an Awesome Power: Papyrus may not have access to all Undertale songs, but he does have access to any fan content that is tangentially related to him.
  • It's All About Me: The stated reason as to why Papyrus does not get all Undertale-related music is that he's making his takeover all about himself. As such, he only gets tracks related to him (though as a perk, this does include fan-made tracks).
  • Lethal Chef: He loves to make spaghetti, but most people agree that it's close to inedible. Probably comes from the fact that he learned it from Undyne, who regularly burns her house down trying to make it. Luckily, King Dedede isn't a picky eater and is one of the first people to enjoy his cooking.
  • Painting the Medium: Just like in his home game, all of his lines are written with the Papyrus typeface.

    Mr. Krabs
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mr_krabs.png
Qualifier: Rippers' Pick
Placement: 18th
Owner and proprietor of Bikini Bottom's famous resturaunt the Krusty Krab, Eugene H. Krabs is a selfish shellfish whose lust for money knows no bounds. He enters the tournament representing rips related to his home series, SpongeBob SquarePants, as well as rips that relate to pirates, money, and crabs.

    Nico Nico
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nico_nico.png
Qualifier: Rippers' Pick
Placement: 20th
A sentient television that serves as the Mascot of Nico Nico Douga. While her real name may be Terebi-chan, she took on the name of her home site as part of being a representative of all the MADs and memes the site has to offer.
  • Ambiguous Gender: At first. Averted in the second interview, where she is referred to using feminine pronouns.
  • Animate Inanimate Object: She's a sentient television.
  • Catchphrase: "♂ ASS ♂ WE ♂ CAN ♂", when she assumes her wrestler alter ego.
  • Distaff Counterpart: As the rep of a popular video sharing site and the memes that ran on it for at least a decade, she serves as this to Unregistered Hypercam 2.
  • Gratuitous Japanese: Speaks exclusively in Japanese in her normal form.
  • Hulking Out: In the second interview, she suddenly grows large, muscular arms.
  • The Prankster: Loves scaring people as a prank. Even at the end of a heartfelt moment, she's not above doing this.
  • Speaks in Shout-Outs: She tends to react through referencing one of her many memes.

    Quote
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/quoteedited_3.png
Reveal Trailer Rip: Plant - Cave Story
Placement: 26th
Qualifier: Random Fan Submission

The amnesiac protagonist and Player Character from the popular platformer Cave Story, who was picked on-the-spot from a random selection of 8 characters sent in by fans during the MAGFest 2019 panel's character poll. His character represents rips from Studio Pixel games, rips from games published by Nicalis, and other rips from old classic indie platformers.

  • Cuteness Proximity: One of his unused tournament lines has him fawn over the Monkey Watch if he wins against Rhythm Masters:
Obtained the MONKEY WATCH. You're too distracted by the cute miniature monkeys inside.
  • Heroic Mime: Quote does not speak, instead having his actions and feelings described in his speech bubbles. In-universe, he's said to rely on physical actions to convey his thoughts.
  • Implied Love Interest: Thomas asks him if he and Curly have a thing going on after describing her as "[Quote's] girlfriend", but he wisely decides that the exact nature of their relationship doesn't matter at the moment.
  • Odd Friendship: With Adam Levine of all people.

    Adam Levine
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/adamlevine.png
Placement: 30th
The lead singer of Maroon 5, Adam Levine enters the competition as an "executive decision" made by Chaze the Chat. While his source list mainly consists of rips related to Maroon 5 and its previous/current members, it also contains rips featuring 90's alternative rock music.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Eventually decides to stay and enjoy the tournament's company after talking to Pitbull, even signing some autographs.
  • Jerkass: He wanted to be a judge, not a competitor. Combined with his early elimination, he spends the whole tournament frustrated and lashes out at other contestants.
  • I Just Want to Have Friends: Although he's not planning on befriending anyone in the tournament, Adam admits he misses the conversations he had with his old band and implies he's pretty lonely.
  • Odd Friendship: The only contestant he's on good terms with is Quote, who he talks to and eats with no problem, not like he'll ever admit this to anybody. He also tries to stand up for Quote during one of the last Mojo conversations.
  • Unknown Rival: Really has a vendetta against Pharrell, although he's not too fond of Daft Punk either. None of the members of that team feel the same way.

    Eminem
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eminem.png
Reveal Trailer Rip: SiIva Direct 9.21.19
Qualifier: Backroom Pick
Placement: 31st
Marshall Bruce Mathers III, aka Eminem, aka the real Slim Shady. His outfit comes from the music video "My Salsa", as he sets out to give the world his hot new single.
  • Flipping the Bird: He's doing it in his picture.
  • Out of Focus: Had the least amount of promotional rips of the entire tournament, as well as minimal coverage on the MOJO! website. Several people reported forgetting he was even in the tournament.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: Spouts the most profanity of any of the other contenders.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Twinkie Weiner Sandwiches.
  • Verbal Tic: In one late Mojo post that had him with Weird Al he ended almost every sentence with "y’know what I’m sayin’?" as a Call-Back to a mock interview the real Weird Al did with edited footage of Eminem that had him lampshade his overuse of the sentence ender in real life.

    HOBaRT
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hobart_final.png
Qualifier: Backroom Pick
Placement: 32nd
Leitmotifs: Hobart Drive
An Australian-made cake-mixer. That's it. Short for Hyper Operative Baking and Ripping Technology, HOBaRT is certainly one of the most unorthodox challengers in a set of already unorthodox challengers. The mixer provides rips from or about Australia, rips about cooking, rips featuring Lil Jon, and rips featuring... Hobart.
  • And Introducing: Gets this in the KFAD opening video, thanks to his being a more or less original creation of the channel, a trait he shares with the Jazz Cats.
  • Animate Inanimate Object: Unlike Hypercam, who is a robot, HOBaRT is seemingly a sentient cake mixing machine. He's considered sentient enough to work for OWCA.
  • Awesome Aussie: Zig-Zagged; he was immediately eliminated from the tourney by Nintendo Power and MissingNo., but since the conclusion of the tourney, he's gotten more attention than any of the other characters (besides the champion).
  • Beyond the Impossible: When demonstrating how he produces rips, Lil Jon places a Super Mario 64 cartridge and a jar of yellow liquid labeled "Essence of Flintstone" into HOBaRT's bowl and mixes. Somehow, this results in a high-quality rip and not just a mess of shards of glass and plastic that smells vaguely of urine.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: He lost both of his matches with the widest margins of both tournaments, with only 23.3% of the vote against Nintendo Power, and 21.9% against MissingNo.. The latter loss was so devastating that a smoke animation was added to his defeat icon, an "honor" that other losing contestants have not been granted.
  • Easily Forgiven: Despite his loss against MissingNo. nearly broke him, HOBaRT doesn't hold a grudge against the sentient glitch and even lets him work as an apprentice on the kitchen.
  • Inanimate Competitor: He's literally just a a cake-mixer, and doesn't really speak or convey any thoughts. Li'l Jon usually speaks on his behalf. Subverted when MissingNo. gave him the ability to speak, showing that he is, in fact, sentient, although he was eliminated before he could get any practical use out of it.
  • In-Series Nickname: It's frequently called "the funny mixer" by others.
  • Joke Character: A ridiculous character even by this tournament's standards, HOBaRT came to the tournament with an equally ridiculous source pool that paled in comparison to that of other characters. Despite coming out with some surprisingly good rips, his persona was moreso based on Rule of Funny than being a viable contender in the tournament.
  • No Indoor Voice: Not HOBaRT himself (although he is quite loud, being a mixer and all), but its operator Li'l Jon, whose lines in the MOJO!! are written in bold all-caps.
  • Odd Friendship: With Isabelle, of all people, due to them having languages no one but themselves can understand.
  • Original Generation: Like the Jazz Cats and Unregistered HyperCam 2, Hobart is an original creation made for the tournament.
  • Perverse Sexual Lust: "Theme of HOBaRT" is half about how awesome HOBaRT is, and half about how much the singer wants to have sex with it.
  • Sesquipedalian Loquaciousness: He has a rather articulated vocabulary whenever he speaks, most particular in the entry mentioned below.
  • Suddenly Voiced: Starting from "W̴̖̟̅͑R̵̢̫̰̣̂Ṟ̸̜̎͑R̷̖̃͠R̴͎̆̚̚R̴̯͝R̷̖͈̀̈͆̈R̸͙͈̝̓͑͛̄R̷̪̳͉̟͒͐͝R̶͙͖̽̌͋R̶̭͋̽͂͠R̶̺̀̅̇R̵͈̦̓̇̾R̵̬̺͘͝R̷̭͖̠̋̇̏R̷̡̧̫̞͂̀͌", HOBaRT is able to speak properly whenever MissingNo. is present.
  • Supreme Chef: The meals he cooks are always appreciated by the contestants. He doesn't even seem to need ingredients.
  • Visual Pun: HOBaRT works with both food mixes and music mixes.

Other tournament characters

(Note: Monika is under the CCC; John Notwoodman is under Halloween.)
    Mr. Bean
The titular protagonist of Mr. Bean. Originally part of a fake leak for the "King for Another Day" roster, it would later be revealed that Mr. Bean would appear in the tournament, albeit as a bonus character and not a full-blown competitor.

    Meowth
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/meowth_2.png
Reveal Trailer Rip: SiIva Direct 9.21.19
Team Rocket's talking Meowth has taken it upon himself to interview the competitors.
  • Adaptational Heroism: He's the interviewer for the King for Another Day Tournament, and rallies everyone at the Gaylord to power up the MF Like Button.
  • Butt-Monkey: He never gets to just conduct a normal interview due to the nature of the interviewees.
  • Dummied Out: Cranky Kong points out that Meowth was cut from the first King for a Day during his interview with Donkey Kong.
  • Oh, My Gods!: Sometimes exclaims "Arceus" when exasperated.

    Wobbuffet
Team Rocket's Wobbuffet, acting as security.
  • Barrier Warrior: Uses Safeguard to repel the contestants' guests at the Gaylord Hotel, preventing them from being harmed by the turmoil outside.
  • Pokémon Speak: Can only say his name.

    Cool Meme Team
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_cool_meme_team_updated_art.png
A team made of Big Chungus, Ugandan Knuckles, and Crash Bandicoot Woah who were shown in the September Direct's Beta Mix.

    Neil Cicierega
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/allstar_kfad2.png
Semi-famous internet musician and honorary inventor of mashups, Neil Cicierega infiltrates the tournament under the guise of a phantom thief to steal the corrupted hearts of some of the people in the studio. He goes by the codename Allstar and is joined by his Persona, Lemon Demon. Hat Kid also shows up later in the tournament, and together they form "Beta-Mix Phantom Thieves."
  • Amusing Injuries: Neil got knocked off the roof of the Gaylord in the after-party, twice.
  • Early-Bird Cameo:
    • Both he and Hat Kid appeared as fake contestant in the September Direct's Beta Mix.
    • His art was posted on Twitter by artist Ackrostation and retweeted by Silva himself before he appeared in the interviews. It was even said that the art wasn't for the tournament, and just a fun side project instead.

    The Crown (spoilers)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kfad_crown.png
The King for Another Day Tournament Crown, originally intended to be given to the winner of the tournament.
  • Animate Inanimate Object: It's actually alive and malicious.
  • Artifact of Doom: The Crown is this due to it having sentience, wanting to extend the tournament indefinitely, and Meowth implying John Notwoodman might have done something underhanded to gain The Crown.
  • Big Bad: Of the King for Another Day Tournament.
  • Christmas Every Day: A non-Christmas variation (if only by a few days): The Crown wants to make the King for Another Day Tournament eternal.
  • Cool Crown: It is one. The fact that it can only be defeated by the combined power of The Finalists, the Eliminated Contestants and the pure power of the MF Like Button only amplifies how cool it is.
  • Evil All Along: It's revealed that the Crown not only can possess anyone who wears it and wants to trap the contestants in a neverending King for Another Day tournament, but it's also powered by dislikes, meaning it's a channel for negativity.
  • Expy: Of the Master Crown.
  • Final Boss: It wants the tournament to last forever, and so possesses Unregistered Hypercam 2, turning him into Unrestrained Hypercam 2.
  • Traitor Shot: At the end of the "A King's Regalia" interview, it suddenly lets out a smirk that somewhat resembles Wood Man's ">:]" emoticon.
