Makes you wonder which of them suggested throwing hands in the middle of throwing hands.

    Ant-Man VS Atom
  • Long story short, the constant barrage of ant puns throughout the episode. Even the video's comment section has the channel posting one in relation to the brutal finisher:
DEATH BATTLE!: Apologies in antvance if the ending of the fight gives you nightmares...
  • Boomstick's Fun Fact of the Day calendar is mentioned, where he reveals that he did know that ants can lift 50 times their body weight (the equivalent to a person lifting a car over their head). He also mentions that "Hawaiian pizza was invented in Canada yesterday".
  • At the end of Ant-Man's preview, after mentioning Hank's Pym Particles and the fact that Hank named them after himself, Boomstick stated that if he invented them he would have named them "Boomstickles" until he remembered that that's what he calls his testicles, Wiz states that he would've gone for the simple approach and just call them "Wiz Particles" though Boomstick notices that the name sounds disgusting while Wiz just keeps going stating that he feels "satisfied and relieved" just thinking about it.
  • Wiz questions how Ray Palmer was able to pick up the white dwarf star fragment since it would weigh several tons. Boomstick says Ray put it in his pocket and walked away, then calls Wiz an idiot for not realizing something so obvious.
  • Just the fact that Ant-Man's list of feats ends with "called Reed Richards a 'bitch' to his face."
  • Throughout the whole episode, for some reason, Boomstick is dressed in a scientist getup like Wiz, acting like a scientific professional throughout (with very odd conclusions), much to Wiz's increasing chagrin. And at the conclusion analysis, with his role as the smart guy taken for the episode, Wiz takes a desperate route of making a certain anal-themed memetic joke to try and make something for himself. And considering Boomstick's usually the Gasshole of the duo, his response is quite humorous.
Wiz: But if the Scientist Supreme is really so smart, why didn't he just immediately go up Atom's butt and blow him up from the inside?
Bomstick: Eugh! What's wrong with you, Wiz?! Aren't you a fellow man of science?
Wiz: ...This is the meanest thing you've ever done to me...
    • Boomstick's scientist outfit itself is worth a chuckle; he keeps a slice of pizza in the pocket of his labcoat, and his smart-guy glasses are on upside down.
  • While Wiz asks the question mentioned directly above, the monitor behind the hosts displays a comic panel of the Atom exasperatedly saying "Thank you! That's all I was looking for!", which in this context makes it seem like Ray was wondering the same thing (or waiting for the inevitable reference to that meme to be made).
  • When both Ant-Man and Atom are shrunken, Hank summons a swarm of ants to attack Ray. While Ray holds them off for a bit with his sword, they soon overwhelm and dogpile him. He solves this ant-iclimactically by simply growing to normal size and stomping on the ants. Hank expected Ray to find the "solution" faster than this.
    Ant-Man: Took you long enough.
  • The brutal ending of Atom, as the ants were eating him from within him, Atom has this agonizing vibe, but a very visible this is gonna suck look on his face.
  • On the day the episode was posted for the public, Luis Cruz, the animation director of the series, posted this meme on his Twitter. Long story short? Ant-Man taking the Thanus meme to his fight with Ray.
Ant-Man: You can't be afraid to think big.
(Cue the shot panning out to reveal he's about to enter Atom's ass, cutting to the opponent reacting in horror)
  • A small one, but typically for the next time teasers, the selected clips are of the characters themselves. This time the teaser ends with Solaire praising the sun and Ralof acknowledging that you're finally awake for the fighters.

    Skyrim VS Dark Souls
  • After the "Next Time" previews referenced their games' memes, the Chosen Undead's preview follows up on it with the title "The Chosen Undead Praises the Sun in DEATH BATTLE!", with Dragonborn's preview title being "The Dragonborn is Finally Awake in DEATH BATTLE!". Boomstick even immediately starts off Dragonborn's analysis with the iconic "Hey you. You're finally awake." line.
  • During the start of the Dragonborn's preview, Boomstick opens with the only starting comment one could make for a Skyrim analysisnote , and ends up referencing some of Skyrim's more... infamous mods, in particular the ones that replace the models for the dragons with Randy Savage and Thomas the Tank Engine (serving as callbacks to Randy's fight with Kool-Aid Man back in Season 8 and Thomas and his usage of such a mod in Death Race), until Wiz gets things back on track.
  • When talking about the Chosen Undead's Dodge Roll, Boomstick gives it similar reverence to the High Ground in Obi-Wan VS Kakashi in Season 7 and then complains about the times it fails.
  • When it comes time to tackle the final choice the player can make in Dark Souls (linking the flame, or letting it die), Boomstick and Wiz (understandably) aren't properly equipped to tackle the lore behind it:
Boomstick: (starts making hand puppets) And soon they were approached by these two slithery freaksnote . One said to "link the fire", and the other said to "let it die out", which... totally makes sense! Wiz can explain it.
Wiz: Don't look at me, Dark Souls lore is as notoriously convoluted as the flow of its time stream, which is why we have a true expert in the realms of nerddom to explain it for us. (pulls out a remote) Oh, Jocelyn? (changes the video feed to Jocelyn's office)
  • Wiz and Boomstick get into a brief Imperials vs. Stormcloaks spat when the topic of Skyrim's civil war comes up.
  • Boomstick tries to demonstrate the Thu'um by attempting to use Soul Tear, a Dragon Shout used in-game to fill Soul Gems, on Wiz...but it doesn't work.
Boomstick: Wait, why didn't anything- (sudden realization) Ohhh. Ohhhhhh.
Wiz: (sadly) Student loans, man. Something had to cover the down payment.
  • Just the fact that in the vein of Mob VS Tatsumaki using broccoli and Saitama VS Popeye using spinach for feats, Dragonborn's analysis brings up... cheese. Specifically, the fact that the Dovahkiin can carry up to 150 (unusually large) wheels of cheese.
    • Boomstick then goes on to note that kind of strength makes sense considering the Giants in Skyrim... As he notes how they can annihilate the game's Ragdoll Physics with footage showing up to boot, the Dragonborn screaming as they get launched into the stratosphere.
  • Early on in the fight as both fighters are engaging in a sword fight, the Chosen Undead proceeds to do what most Souls-like players do best: Spam the hell out of the Dodge Roll, as the Dovahkiin tries to chase him down.
  • When the Dragonborn shifts from melee to ranged combat, he fires a barrage of arrows that the Chosen Undead for the most part deflects... except for one that got their knee, the Chosen Undead's groan of annoyance as they remove the arrow just makes the moment funnier, with the Dragonborn being equally stunned at the Chosen Undead's resilience... Before the Chosen Undead promptly pulls out the massive Gough's Greatbow to one-up his foe.
  • Odahviing roars in triumph after completely incinerating the Chosen Undead... only for the freshly-resurrected Chosen Undead to almost immediately put a huge arrow right through his head.
  • The Dragonborn prepares to "FUS RO DAH!" the Chosen Undead, only for the latter to activate the Vow of Silence. The Dragonborn's shocked expression is incredible.
  • The final act of the battle takes on a certain level of irony when you realize the fight has boiled down to a flame, and a guy who can blow.
  • After the battle ends with the Chosen Undead's defeat, an interesting interaction happens:
(The iconic Dark Souls screen appears) YOU DIED!
Boomstick: Oh my God, this boss is BULLSHIT!
  • Remember how Boomstick joked about Thomas the Tank Engine showing up in Skyrim via mods? Well, turns out that became the case in a tweet where Odahviing was replaced by Thomas in the battle animation. Complete with Chosen Undead shooting an arrow through his head and his eyes being replaced with X's.

    Killua VS Misaka
  • At the end of Killua's preview, Wiz mentions Killua's ability to utilize Nen, which Boomstick describes as "Ki, it's always Ki" (Referring to all the episodes where the pair mention Ki and similar forms of energy such as Chakra, Reishi and Aura) though Wiz points out Nen is a bit more complicated but is unable to cover it since the preview is nearly over, and when Boomstick tries to get Wiz to try, Wiz eagerly asks if he wants to sit through a three-hour class "with four boards and everything" only for Boomstick to come up with a half-baked excuse to avoid that.
  • When Misaka's status as a Level 5 Esper gets brought up, Boomstick thinks she's a Pokémon but as an anime girl.
  • Much to Boomstick's annoyance, the one thing Misaka couldn't overcome is being a tsundere towards Kamijou Touma, described as a "frizzy-haired dumbass anime protagonist".
Boomstick: (mockingly) Ugh, I hate you, but I secretly love you, and it'll work out in the end- Shut up!
  • When going over Misaka’s lightning abilities, Boomstick oh so subtly namedrops another shonen anime:
Boomstick: Just what an anime girl needs; a chainsaw,…man.
  • Boomstick being befuddled by how the Esper system works is visualized with Saiki Kusuo looking confused, and Bocchi glitching out.
  • At the end of Misaka's preview upon discussing the Sisters, Boomstick has a sudden realization and accuses Wiz of doing the same thing for his own experiments. Wiz denies this... by saying he never used thousands of clones.
  • Wiz begins excitedly describing the nature of Killua's Nen abilities, only for Boomstick to cut in by bluntly calling it lightning.
  • Boomstick referring to Accelerator and Mugino as "Albino Magneto" and "Unhinged Karen" respectively.
  • When talking about Misaka and the scientific mechanics of her railgun, Wiz starts geeking out, much to Boomstick’s annoyance.
    • Later after Misaka finishes of Killua with a railgun, Wiz ends up exclaiming about how beautiful it was, and it's especially funny if one remembers Boomstick's similar reaction to Captain Falcon's win in Season 6, only this time it's Wiz who's getting excited whereas Boomstick is the one telling him to chill out.
  • If you were one of the few that didn't skip the Hello Fresh sponsor will get this gem:
Boomstick: Now me? I love to cook, but everytime I have Wiz over for a lovely home-cooked meal, he has...complaints.
Wiz: I told you I don't care if Squirrel Con Carnes a family tradition I'm not-
  • During the "the combatants are set" bit, when clips and images of the fighters are shown next to each other, the final one is both Killua and Misaka doing an open-mouthed cat smile.

    Stitch VS Rocket Raccoon
  • The titles of their character analysis previews make puns out of their opponent's names: "Stitch Rockets Into DEATH BATTLE!" and "Rocket Stitches Up In DEATH BATTLE!"
  • While the descriptions for previous character analysis previews have usually been pretty cool or serious, Stitch's analysis preview has a... rather short and interesting description:
    "Look at this weird dog."
  • Stitch makes a familiar comment in Tantalog to us viewers during his own preview. Much like with the Galactic Council, Wiz and Boomstick are disgusted to the point it causes them to barf.
    Stitch: Meega nala kweesta!
    Wiz: (gasps) He did not!
Boomstick: I think I'm gonna be sick!
(Wiz and Boomstick are heard throwing up)
    Boomstick: Ugh, so naughty. Bleh...
    • In the battle proper, Rocket also nearly vomits from hearing it and proceeds to unleash his Thanos Buster cannon in retaliation.
Rocket: [retches] That's it! Gonna need a bigger gun!
  • Boomstick adopts Hawaii's naming convention a little too early.
Boomstick: After being slated for termination, Stitch escaped to a distant planet: E'arth! ...Oh wait, Earth.
  • When DUMMI mentions the Bottomfeeding Scum Sucker as one of the creatures making up Stitch's DNA, Wiz attempts to pull a page out of Boomstick's book, but it... doesn't go over well.
Wiz: Ahem! Sounds like your ex-wife! (chuckles) Am I right?
Boomstick: No, Wiz! What the hell?! That's such a... messed up thing to say about her! Be... better!
DUMMI: I'm so disappointed in you.
Boomstick: You can make those jokes when you start paying the alimony! (walks off)
    DUMMI: (shakes head; flies off)
  • Then, when Wiz tries to point something out that's Boomstick's forte...
Wiz: (shouting) Eh?! Colliding planets! (Chirping Crickets) A-A... A-A-A-Are you coming back? ...No?
    Boomstick: F(beep)CK YOU!
    Wiz: (weakly) Okay...
  • Rocket's analysis opens with Boomstick singing "Rocky Raccoon", only for Wiz to clarify they'll be talking about Rocket Raccoon and not his namesake.
Boomstick: Well... I have wasted a lot of time on some very specific research.
  • At the end of Rocket's preview, Boomstick tries speaking Groot's Pokémon Speak language, but all he knows are the swears. Whatever he meant when he said "I am Groot" to Wiz, it made Wiz panic.
Wiz: Whoa whoa whoa whoa, watch your tongue there!
    Boomstick: What did I say?
Wiz: No, you really don't want to know! It's, like, really really bad! I think I might have to get HR.
Boomstick: Uh, uh, I'm sorry! […] Please don't space-cancel me!
  • Boomstick is convinced Rocket is actually a raccoon, even after Wiz straight up tells him he's a Halfworlder who happens to look like one. He even gives the audience a few fun facts about raccoons at one point.
  • What's the location for this battle? An island that's advertised as Space Hawaii, floating in the cosmos with an ocean perpetually pouring over the edge, along with Ice Cream guy standing by the sign. If you look at the volcano, you'll notice it has a giant umbrella sticking out of it like the universe's largest martini.
  • The sheer slapstick from Stitch getting attacked with nearly every single weapon in Rocket's arsenal as the Elvis Presley styled song in the background sings "We're having a blast". At one point, poor Stitch runs around with his ass on fire, all while Rocket's casually watching from the side controlling his weapons.
    • And afterwards after being blasted back onto the beach, he tries to attack Rocket again, only for the latter to teleport away... And leave Stitch to crash into a giant bomb, the Halfworlder looking down on Stitch with a smug smirk as all Stitch could do is look at the camera with an expression that screams This Is Gonna Suck before the bomb nukes the beach.
  • The unique Bookends for the fight both involve Ice Cream Guy: First is before the fight starts when the shockwave from Stitch destroying the Malano knocks his ice cream into the sand, then at the end of the fight, after Rocket and his Orbital Weapons Stash blow up, Ice Cream Guy narrowly avoids being crushed by the debris and is about to enjoy his ice cream... only to be splattered by a high speed Stitch who then catches the scoop and eats it himself. Boomstick even points out that while it was a stylistic choice, Ice Cream Guy's death was completely unnecessary.
    • Special mention goes to Ice Cream Guy's death contributing as Ringmaster declares the match over with a "Double K.O."
  • After being unable to pull it off in Black Canary vs. Sindel and Goro vs. Machamp, Boomstick finally lands his joke by saying that this Rocket's blasting off agaaaaaiiiiiiiin!
  • Early on when discussing how Stitch was able to worm his way into other Disney films, Boomstick expresses worry that they may be dealing with another Deadpool situation. At the end of the episode, as Wiz is about to declare Stitch the winner, with absolutely no warning, Stitch himself breaks into the studio much to Wiz and Boomstick's horror, unleashing chaos (and apparently turkeys) on the studio before declaring himself the winner and laughing.

    Darth Vader VS Obito Uchiha
  • Once again, the preview titles are packing some comedy, a hefty dose of Black Comedy in particular, with Darth Vader's preview title being "Darth Vader is BURNING for a DEATH BATTLE!" in a reference to Anakin getting burned alive from the end of Revenge of the Sith. Meanwhile, Obito's title is "Obito Uchiha will CRUSH in DEATH BATTLE!", in reference to the ninja being crushed under a boulder to his presumed death.
  • At the start of the episode proper, Wiz declares that the episode is sponsored by popular series musician Brandon Yates, prompting Boomstick to exclaim "Again?!"
  • One of Vader's listed dislikes? Sand.
  • At the end of Vader's preview, Imperial March starts to play, causing Wiz and Boomstick to freak out and quickly shut the music off to avoid a copyright claim.
  • During Vader's analysis while discussing all the downsides of his iconic suit, footage of Trevor as Vader stumbling over a fence in Grand Theft Auto V, his appearance in Robot Chicken, and Vader walking away while Darthenshmirtz is trying to get his attention are all seen in quick succession.
  • At the end of Obito's preview, Wiz starts to explain the Kamui technique, only for Boomstick to get bored and leave. Wiz starts to geek out over the Kamui's applications similar to how he did over Misaka's esper powers. Boomstick then demands to know who drank his beer since there are only 20 in the fridge.
  • In the episode proper, Wiz explains how Kamui's intangibility while using a device to make himself intangible, while he's talking, Boomstick throws random objects through Wiz, culminating in him tossing Mecha Goose Howard through him.
  • The clips shown for Vader just before the fight are his depiction in Epic Rap Battles of History and a commercial where he's golfing.

    Phoenix VS Raven
  • Boomstick is quite eager for this fight it seems, as in the opening and interlude towards the fight, he's quick to proclaim his excitement for a "Bird Battle".
  • Much like with Captain Marvel and Shazam in Season 6, Boomstick makes mention of Jean's initial hero name before Phoenix, Marvel Girl and awkwardly states that they can workshop the name later.
  • After Wiz describes Jean's initial powers before the Phoenix Force, Boomstick mentions that Jean's fellow X-Man, The Beast, seems a little out of place due to how mundane his abilities are by comparison.
  • At the end of Phoenix's preview, once they cover Jean's initial death before it was revealed that it was the Phoenix acting like her and then mentioning Jean merging with the Phoenix Force again, Boomstick calls that action stupid and Wiz not so subtly claims that Raven is not as complex going into Suspiciously Specific Denial territory, only for Boomstick to remind him that they've covered Raven before so he knows he's lying.
  • While discussing Phoenix's ability to revive, Boomstick notes that she has died at least 15 times at the time of this writing, predicting that she would probably die again in 2024. However...
(cue the screen cutting to grey with the Grand Theft Auto V Wasted sound effect playing as "Scotland the Brave" begins to play)
"As of July 26, 2023, some time after this recording took place...
Jean Grey has died a 16th time.
    Comics are f*kin' crazy."
  • While discussing Jean's relation with the Phoenix Force, Wiz and Boomstick notice it has a peculiar attachment to redheads... Which leads to a realization the two have:
Wiz: Oh. Think it was a bad idea to have Jocelyn study it?
(cue the two changing the screen to check on Jocelyn... who's been possessed by the Phoenix Force, her office on fire)
Jocelyn: I. DEMAND. A RAISE! (the screen turns off)
    Boomstick: ...Nah, she's fine.
  • When Wiz mentions Jean's White Phoenix of the Crown form, Boomstick quips that the form sounds like a Dark Souls boss and just as bullshit as one.
  • Boomstick complains when they bring up the time Jean separated from the Phoenix and called herself Marvel Girl again.
  • After summing up Trigon's plan to free himself and cause destruction and manipulating Raven's mother to do so, Boomstick snarks that this is just another reason not to live in Gotham.
  • Leading up to Raven's Soul Self, Boomstick opens up with a familiar line but with a twist.
    Boomstick: It's a bird! It's a plane! No, that's... just a bird.
  • When Wiz discusses about Raven's Soul Self taking the form of her namesake, he's holding a vial containing soul essence as he mentions the symbolism of ravens as a whole, Boomstick ends up bringing Mecha Goose Howard around to see what geese symbolise as Wiz opens the vial, the soul essence entering the Cyber Goose and giving both heads the ability to speak... and both heads end up being incredibly confrontational and dickish to the hosts before running off, causing Boomstick to remember that geese symbolise assholes.
  • Boomstick calling out DC for not making Raven and Beast Boy an official couple, saying how everyone already ships it.
  • At the end of Raven's preview Wiz lists off the Soul Self's abilities, he offhandedly includes "smash ponies like a battering ram" in the list and after mentioning the Soul Self's ability to regenerate from complete destruction he states that such an ability would have been handy for when he sold his soul to pay his student loans (a Call-Back to Skyrim VS Dark Souls) then Boomstick starts wondering how much a soul actually costs, causing Wiz to Change the Uncomfortable Subject.
  • While her physical body being incinerated wasn't funny, due to Jean's transformation into the White Phoenix of the Crown and is about to take both her and Raven into the White Hot Room, when Raven gets the Rings of Azar from her charred corpse, it's now in the Peter Griffin death pose.

    Guts VS Dimitri
  • At the end of Guts's preview, Boomstick tries to close things off with a happy ending, citing it's pretty much the only way he can give the Black Swordsman one, letting Wiz think they should take a break to look at Dimitri, hoping that his story won't be as depressing as Guts's... Only for Wiz to let out a small "oh no" knowing that Dimitri's story definitely will be as depressing.
  • Though he is a fan of it, Boomstick is shown struggling to lift the Dragon Slayer, which weighs hundreds of pounds.
  • One of Dimitri's likes is eating weeds.
  • Not even DEATH BATTLE! is safe from bringing up Super Smash Bros. when discussing Fire Emblem characters, as Boomstick refers Byleth as "everyone's favorite Smash Bros. character", a reference to their... let's just say contentious inclusion as a DLC character in Ultimate. Complete with the Smash Bros. announcer calling Byleth's name as they're brought up. For added fun, said announcer is voiced by the same guy voicing Guts in this, Xander Mobus.
  • After briefly going over Dimitri's also Dark and Troubled Past, his preview gets completely derailed by Boomstick and Wiz starting a massive argument over which house is the best (them choosing Claude's Golden Deer and Edelgard's Black Eagles respectively). Not for the first time, apparently. There really is no escaping the Three Houses discourse...
    • In the full episode, the two continue on rooting for their houses rather than discussing on Edelgard's questionable actions, as a third party makes themselves known:
(cue the screen glitching out before the Ashen Wolves banner drops down)
Jocelyn: Ashen Wolves for life, losers!
Boomstick: Of course Jocelyn picks the goths.
      • Right as soon as Boomstick mocks Jocelyn's house choice, Sasha Waybright is subtly shown behind her.
    • Just the fact that through process of elimination, none of them picked Dimitri's Blue Lions route. Poor guy.
    • Also in the full episode, after Wiz makes his allegiance to the Black Eagles known, Boomstick says, "Fear the Deer!" and strikes the Golden Deer pose, popularized by Claude's English voice actor.
  • During Dimitri's Analysis, one can get a small chuckle to see the footage having characters like Byleth and Felix in their DLC costumes
  • The clips used for Dimitri right before the battle are of him as a Dancer in Three Houses and his Summer variant being summoned in Fire Emblem Heroes. On Guts' side? His infamous walking "animation" from Berserk (2016).
  • At one point, Guts smashes the blunt edge of Dragon Slayer across Dimitri's face, and it makes the infamous "CLANG" sound effect from Berserk (2016).

    Martian Manhunter VS Silver Surfer
  • Boomstick is not impressed that J'onn J'onnz took up the identity of a human named John Jones. Further illustrated by a name tag appearing with J'onn's real name scratched off for his new alias and "(Regular Human Male)" written in smaller print at the bottom.
Boomstick: J'onn used his shapeshifting abilities to hide amongst his new world by assuming the identity of recently deceased detective named... John Jones. God, what a crazy coincidence, comic book writer. You clever man...
  • Once Mister Mxyzptlk is mentioned again after being mentioned in Phoenix VS Raven, Boomstick attempts to say his name, key word being "attempts" because unlike Wiz, he ends up butchering Mxyzptlk's name three times before ultimately giving up.
Boomstick: Mister Mixelplik- (buzzer sounds) Mixelplexiglass- (buzzer sounds again) Mister Mixedpickles- (buzzer sounds for the third time) F*ck your name that's whatever! Anyway, [Martian Manhunter] got HIM to subconsciously say his own name backwards which God only knows 'cuz I can't say it forwards, which cancelled out his powers!
  • Wiz determining that J'onn's weakness to fire is psychosomatic causes Boomstick to go full-on Martian.
    Wiz: ...What are you doing?
Boomstick: (holding a lit lighter to his hand) I heard what you said! Weakness to fire is just in your head! (hand catches on fire) I'll... be a living GOD!
  • Due to the Silver Surfer's name, Boomstick begins acting like a Surfer Dude, complete with backwards cap, sunglasses, a sunburn and Totally Radical dialogue.
  • When mentioning that Silver Surfer is still capable of impressive feats even at death's door, Boomstick starts thinking of what Death's doormat would have on it, much to Wiz's confusion. After this, Death's doormat appears on screen, on it reads…:
    IF IT'S
    JEAN GREY
    PLEASE USE
    BACK ENTERANCE
  • The opening of the battle is framed like a Film Noir as both combatants are found in the office of a private detective. Then we have Silver Surfer leaving the office... which is somehow in outer space before it transitions into a title-screen of an old sci-fi film.
  • In the battle, the Martian Manhunter attempts a mental attack on the Silver Surfer, causing the latter to briefly assume his infamous game over pose from his notoriously unforgiving NES game.

    Bill Cipher VS Discord
  • Throughout both Bill and Discord's analyses, both fighters could be seen adding self-biased notes to it, either to promote themselves or to roast the other. Ranging from but not limited to:
    • Bill mentions how he was robbed by Sans in the infamous "Tumblr Sexyman Poll" that was held on Twitter (which celebrated its anniversary only a few days before this episode).
    • Bill promoting himself as a big fan of crypto, NFTs, and AI art as a Shout-Out to his cameo in The Simpsons, with Discord calling it despicable.
    • Bill also promotes himself by saying he directed the episode, causing Discord to note that "not all Bills are created equal."For context
    • Discord noting "It's rude to ask a draconequis his age, you know" in response to the analysis trying to post his age, as well as emphasizing John de Lancie only voices him when the budget is high enough.
    • The two just getting into a straight-up argument during Discord's feats section:
      Discord: Created "Pony Life".
Bill: OH BOY, HE MADE A NON-CANON SPIN OFF SERIES. HE SURE IS COOL...
Discord: Unlike some triangles I know, still has loved ones left
      Bill: NOT FOR LONG.
    • Two peculiar codes appear in Bill's analysis, first "A HDU'B VJXU DMZL KYWVRWR LPVXG" in his Background slide, and "VOVEVM WVVA MFGA SZS". Translating them would lead to these notes: "I DON'T EVEN LIKE CHICKEN WINGS"note  and "ELEVEN DEEZ NUTS HAH"note
  • Boomstick says that the two most common beacons for Weirdness are The Bermuda Triangle... and Denny's at 3 AM.
  • When talking about Gideon Gleeful, Boomstick refers to him as "a polished turd".
  • The brief glimpse of "Get in the jar" as Gideon drops one on a miniaturized Dipper and Mabel.
  • While discussing Bill's interest in conquering our universe, a clip shows Bill doing an otherworld observation... of Super Saiyan God Goku and Beerus' clash creating shockwaves, in reference to the feat becoming a meme in the Death Battle Community.
  • While discussing Bill's Demonic Possession abilities, Wiz realizes he shouldn't have made a deal with him, causing Bill to possess Wiz. After Bill brags about being able to see everything, Boomstick is unfazed and more excited about having a new co-host, slapping the Bill-possessed Wiz in the back and causing Boomstick to unintentionally Beat the Curse Out of Him.
  • Even before Discord's preview, the end of Bill's preview has Discord's render comically spinning around. The same happens with Bill's render at the end of Discord's preview.
  • At the end of Bill's preview, Boomstick is asking Wiz if he should be concerned with the ominous dreams he's been having recently, Wiz was wondering if it had anything to do with Bill only for Boomstick to admit that the dream was just him at school without pants again with the other students laughing at him, only for some reason all of the students had Mama Boomstick's face and Wiz himself was there too but he was also Boomstick's dad.
  • Boomstick finding things in common with Discord causes Wiz to lampshade the rarity of it in a very... abstract fashion.
Wiz: It's not like you to find a lot of common ground with My Little Pony. I mean, you're usually like, "Aagh, the only good pony is the horse meat in my sandwich!"
Boomstick: That's disgusting, Wiz! Horse meat goes in burritos!
  • Boomstick having a complete 180 over his dislike for the ponies due to having a daughter. He then ends his quip by stating "Fluttershy is best pony".
  • Boomstick describes what Discord can't do... (beat) ...The End.
  • Wiz explains that Discord can break the fourth wall, which results in Boomstick's Boomstick sense to tingle, saying that there is no amount of character development to prepare for another Deadpool situation, which soon results in Discord making them experience substantiation, which cuts to Wiz and Boomstick being transported into the bodies of their voice actors the actual Death Battle recording studio, thus causing them to be absolutely horrified before the episode cuts to technical difficulties.
Boomstick: Whelp, I'm never recovering from that emotionally.
Wiz: I don't think anybody could.
Boomstick: Ooh look [opens can of beer] blissful ignorance at the bottom of this can.
  • Take a look at when they talk about Discord traveling from the Horsehead Nebula to Equestria. It shows an image of Discord doing speed calculations, but on the blackboard is an image of Thor. Underneath that are the numerous speed calculations of [X] Times faster than the speed of light that was used in previous battles.
  • At the end of Discord's preview, Boomstick goes on to note how being on DEATH BATTLE! changed his life, implying it wasn't in a good way. Wiz tries to console him, asking how he could make it any better... And then Boomstick initiates a nut-tap, with the metallic bang going off and Wiz's prompted squeals of agony implying Boomstick hit him hard enough to effectively bypass his safety measures way back in Johnny Cage VS Captain Falcon, revealing he was just playing Wiz with the act.
  • The track "Discordant Decipher": As par for the course for Bill's home series, it has a backwards message within its lyrics. The message?
  • The song also has Discord making a couple of puns regarding Bill's triangular shape ("A talking triangle taking me on? That's acute!" "For an isosceles, you sure can be more than a bit obtuse."), as well as the two exchanging childish insults.
Discord: All your jokes fall flat. You got a stupid hat. And frankly, that bow tie doesn't suit you.
Bill: Look like someone made you in the dark, you're spare parts. It's really gross. And, honestly, you smell like-
  • Unlike in his home series, where his throne is made out of petrified humans, Bill's throne in the battle is made out of ponies who are turned into real-life My Little Pony toys, and then petrified. Bill's quip about this also provides some pretty strong Black Comedy.
Bill: Boy, pasting all this bootleg merchandise together sure took a lot of glue... Good thing your friends make their own.
  • While horrifying to see Bill turning the Mane 6 into banners, some of them are downright hilarious since only Twilight and Fluttershy are portrayed as scared. Pinkie is smiling for the camera, Rarity has a sultry pout, Applejack looks annoyed and Rainbow Dash is wearing sunglasses, possibly in the middle of a "Facing the Bullets" One-Liner.
  • Fittingly for these two, the fight begins in an extremely random way: By Discord writing his own "Dear Princess" note and using a flaming pie to pie Bill in the eye, pissing him off.
Discord: (telepathically) Dear Princess Celestia, today Bill Cipher learned an important lesson... about friendship.
Bill: (Turns green and nearly throws up from his eye in disgust) UGH, GAG! (Gets pied in the eye by Discord, exploding both it and his left arm) OW! MY EYE!
  • Discord slams Bill with desserts complete with an ice cream with a cherry on top. Bonus points, the *ding!* sound when the cherry plopped comes from the little bell Discord has in his claws, with Bill even contributing to the joke.
    Discord: Enjoy your just desserts!
(cue the pile of desserts exploding as a rimshot goes off, the smoke clearing to show Bill created a set of drums for said rimshot)
  • Discord turns Bill into a Dorito and eats him. Bill fights back by making Discord's head explode into confetti.
Discord: (to the audience) A tad Euclidean for my tastes.
  • At one point, the two fighters end up taking a trip through Bill's Weirdness Bubbles, which causes these animation changes in quick succession:
    • The first one is the two fighting in claymation-style animation (with Randy Savage and Kool-Aid Man in the background), where Bill can briefly be seen trying to pull out two guns to try to shoot Discord with before turning into an Imposter to attack the Draconequis.
    • Another is of them briefly drawn in an inkblot style (with a cameo of Bendy and Cuphead), as Discord's got Bill in an armlock, giving the demon a noogie.
    • And the third one is through full-blown sock puppets complete with an audience of kids, with Bill "getting the upper hand" by blasting Discord with silly string. And how does Puppet Discord apply his Badass Fingersnap to take things back to the battlefield? By having the hand of the puppet emerge from the mouth, terrifying the kids watching. The gag is even funnier for MLP fans, because Discord attempted to send Tree Hugger into another dimension that contained a Mexican sock puppet!
  • At one point, Bill decides to reach offscreen, causing a giant hand to grab Discord to squeeze him, causing him to let out a hilarious sound effect. And in response, Discord does the same thing, as the two start being slammed into each other like action figures... Only to reveal giant versions of the two were behind the hand shenanigans. Special mention goes to the dialogue as this sequence goes on, a subtle reference to Discord's in-series voice actor also voicing Q from Star Trek:
Bill: Tell Jean-Luc his show is worse than "Code of Honor"!
Discord: You are not qualified to work with the fourth wall!
  • Discord suggests they play a different game while summoning giant multi-sided dice. Bill agrees as he loves checkers!
(cue a giant knight chess piece sending Discord to smush city)
    Bill: Go fish!
  • After his spirit lands a blow on Bill, Discord gives him the middle finger.
  • While it is a somber moment of Fluttershy asking what happened to Discord, one can see Applejack with swirly eyes.
  • As the portal clasps shut and locks Bill out of Equestria, the particle effects shown are just Discord's head blowing a raspberry as the penultimate "fuck you" to the almighty triangle.
  • When the battle ends, Bill declares KO!, causing Ringmaster to shout that he stole his line.
  • Even though Bill won the fight, he ends up getting trapped in the Nightmare Realm by Discord. Despite trying to make a deal with the viewer, by the time of Boomstick's usual pun, he's still trapped.
Boomstick: Discord could tri every angle, but Bill had his eye on the pri-.
Bill: LET ME OUT OR I'LL EAT YOUR DREAMS!!
    (Boomstick yelps in terror)

    Cole MacGrath VS Alex Mercer
  • Almost as soon as the episode begins, Wiz and Boomstick lampshade the fact they know people have been waiting a very long time for this episode.
  • So, it turns out that for this episode, Wiz and Boomstick decided to read a years-old script meant for this matchup. Said script is apparently filled with numerous dated references and old writing cliches of the time as well, much to the duo's confusion and irritation. The episode later goes to further lengths to make itself feel purposefully outdated in subtler ways, with Wiz bringing back two of his old Abandoned Catchphrases in the form of, "That's right, Boomstick," and, "Let's end this debate once and for all."
  • The opening line of Cole's analysis by Wiz, set to scenes from the Spider-Man Trilogy.
Wiz: With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility. Tobey Maguire's not the only superhero who had to learn that lesson. (cut to Peter crashing into a wall)
  • Boomstick referring to Cole's powers as cool, zippity-zappity superpowers.
  • Wiz and Boomstick noticing that Cole has similar abilities to, of all people, Shadow the Hedgehog. Later, Alex is described as an "ultimate being" like, you guessed it, Shadow.
  • When listing off Cole's various powers, for the most part Wiz is serious in comparing them to other characters, until he gets to MacGrath's mind reading which he compares to Goku's Muffin Button and goes on a rant over how Cole's barriers can turn physical matter into energy, with Boomstick trying to stop him by pointing out that they've seen and heard dumber shit than that on the show before.
  • When talking about Good Cole's Heroic Sacrifice, Boomstick cheerily glosses over many unknown Conduits dying overseas.
"Sure, he also killed thousands of Conduits in the process, but hey! What’s a few corpses when building a better tomorrow? This trolley stops for no one!"
  • Boomstick says Alex with his consuming ability is like Kirby listening to Linkin Park... except they can't play "One Step Closer" due to copyright, so lo-fi jazz was played instead.
  • When Wiz uses Peter Randall as an example of Alex receiving memories of his consumed victims, Boomstick couldn't resist being excited upon hearing his age of 69, complete with a "toasty!" sound effect. In the preview version, Boomstick says "nice" upon hearing his age. Boomstick also compares Alex perceiving memories in five nanoseconds to the amount of time he was married to his second ex-wife.
  • At the end of Alex's preview, Boomstick makes mention of how the name of one of Alex's moves, Hunter Dirtnap, was also the stripper name of his third ex-wife's boyfriend who unlike his second ex-wife, was a great listener, leading Boomstick to end the analysis to vent his problems to him.
  • While Boomstick is explaining how Cole's powers adapt to his moral alignment, an evil version of Boomstick shows up out of nowhere and goes on an edgy rant about how cool Evil Cole is before exploding, much to Boomstick's bewilderment and frustration.
  • Wiz reveals that he decided to create his own version of the Blacklight virus, only for him and Boomstick to notice the test tube is empty. Cue a copy of Wiz forming behind the real one.

    Frieza VS Megatron
  • At the start of Frieza's rundown, Boomstick makes the same mistake that many first-time viewers of Dragon Ball have made: Underestimating Frieza due to his small stature.
Boomstick: Awww, he's adorable, with the horns, and that floppy tail and the-
(Cut to Frieza murdering Vegeta, followed by Krillin, then obliterating Planet Vegeta, with a horror sting accentuating each moment)
Boomstick: ...Genocide. Oh... Awesome. And he’s laughing. Cool…
  • Wiz brings up how Akira Toriyama was inspired to base Frieza off of real estate speculators during the Japanese economic bubble at the time, whom he dubs the worst sort of people.
    Wiz: Yes. Really.
Boomstick: I guess you could say Frieza is more than meets the eye! Oh wait, shit, that's later.
    […]
Wiz: ...Frieza would cross the universe conquering worlds one by one, and selling them to the highest bidder, just like real estate speculators.
  • According to Boomstick, his blood alcohol level was 0.8 when he was born.
  • At the end of Frieza's preview, Boomstick starts talking about his planned genocide of the squirrels in his backyard, to which Wiz notes he should probably see a therapist about. Boomstick reveals that he did see a therapist and it worked out great... until he discovered his therapist was a group of 50 squirrels in a trenchcoat.
Wiz: So wait, how did you not know?
Boomstick: They were really good listeners!
  • Boomstick calls Frieza an "albino dildo".
  • Boomstick attempts to get a prediction out of the Oracle Fish, but ends up killing him by shaking the fishbowl.
  • Megatron's rundown delves into the political intrigue of his backstory.
Boomstick: So this giant Hasbro toy robot, only $5.99 at your nearest Rite Aid, wrote a manifesto on peaceful dissent that got popular with the oppressed Cybertronian working class. So much so, in fact, that the senate tried to have him assassinated! Wuh-oh, politics alert!
    • Three major bullet points stand out in his initial personality description; One, that he desperately needs a cough drop. The other two are Optimus Prime being in his dislikes and his likes.
  • Megatron's preview ends with Boomstick noticing how many combatants can move across space at high speeds and suggests he and Wiz go on a outer space road trip. Wiz agrees, but suggests they steer clear of the Andromeda Galaxy because of an incident that got him in trouble with an alien race.
    Boomstick: Why?
Wiz: I... don't want to talk about it!
  • During Megatron's breakdown, Boomstick stops to laugh about over how one of Megatron's alt modes is just a gun.
  • When coming face to face with Megatron, Frieza refers to Cybertron as "Planet Cyber-whatever".
  • After destroying Cybertron, all Frieza can do is vow to kill all Cybertronians. Megatron was able to get Frieza so mad at him that he now hates Cybtertronians with the same vitriol he does Saiyans.
  • During the battle, Cybertron's core is nuked by Frieza. He complains how this always happens and guesses it will take three minutes for it to blow, before immediately amending it to five, a reference of course to "the longest five minutes in anime history" during his fight with Goku. After the battle, Boomstick says Frieza got it wrong again since it only took a minute and ten seconds this time.

    Gojo VS Makima
  • Thanks to the new preview naming convention, both combatants' previews have rather... interesting titles.
    • "Gojo is HIM", neatly summarizing Gojo's Memetic Badass status.
    • The rather gruesome and somewhat complex plot of Chainsaw Man is summed up as "Makima just wants a pet dog".
  • During Gojo's analysis, one of his dislikes is listed as Among Us, crossed out, in reference to his recent and extremely viral status of being cut in half by Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen. Meanwhile, the likes makes a little nod to him being a fan of Digimon.
  • Boomstick describes Cursed Energy as "Ki, but if it desperately needed therapy."
  • In keeping with his preview title, Boomstick is quick to note that in addition to his immense power, Gojo also "mastered the art of the rizz, the hoops..." and that "He [wasn't] just built different, he was born different".
  • While explaining how Gojo's sheer power and influence on the world of Jujutsu Kaisen caused society to turn on him, a certain clip is shown as Boomstick compares it to the meta of a fighting game, and it shows gameplay of four Super Smash Bros. Brawl with four Meta Knights onscreen followed by footage of Leroy from Tekken 7, two of the most infamous High-Tier Scrappy characters in fighting game history.
  • The last manga panel used for Gojo? The infamous "Nah, I'd win." page.
  • The beginning of Makima's rundown starts off on a happy note, with a clip showing a young Aki and his brother. Then the Gun Devil wreaked havok which causes Boomstick to freak out.
Wiz: Ah, what a beautiful day. The sun is shining, the birds are singing--
Boomstick: (As the Gun Devil nukes Aki's home and his family) And a giant AK-47 carpet-bombed the neighborhood! The sky rains blood, millions are dead! Dear God, Wiz, it's the end times! RUN AWAY!
Wiz: Calm down, there's no reason to panic. It's just that in the world of Chainsaw Man, devils exist and your fear makes them stronger. Never mind, panic.
  • Makima is described by Boomstick as dressing like Columbo.
  • At the end of the preview, just as Wiz is about to reveal the truth about Makima, Boomstick cuts the analysis short due to the sheer amount of spoilers regarding her character. Wiz makes a point about how DEATH BATTLE! is about spoilers, but he quickly gives up.
  • Similarly to Gojo's list of dislikes, Makima has buffets written and crossed out on hers, referencing her fate of being cooked and eaten by Denji.
  • When Boomstick explains how Angel Devil allows one to "see God" before they die, Wiz notes that seeing God on the 20th time gets boring. Boomstick begins to step back in horror.
  • Upon learning of Makima's Contract with the Prime Minister, Boomstick recognizes it could potentially lead to quite an embarrassing way to go out:
Boomstick: Oh man, imagine like, taking a shit, and Makima gets hit and— Whoops! Looks like you're wiping at the pearly gates!
  • The first clip of Gojo before the battle's special rules are explained is of him doing the griddy in Fortnite. Makima's side is much less funny, showing scenes of her manipulating and grooming Denji. But the fact that's what was chosen to be opposite to Fortnite Gojo is comedic.
  • The setup for the fight shows Gojo infiltrating a movie theater where Makima is watching Samurai Jack VS Afro Samurai, and Gojo decides to be as obnoxious as can be to get Makima's attention by stealing her popcorn, talking during the movie, and coughing very loudly.
Gojo: Kill to binge some flicks right about now. (coughs) But gotta kill you instead. Can't just let a curse do as they please.
(As Gojo continues to be as disruptive as possible, Makima slowly and silently turns her gaze towards him before it cuts to outside as the theater suddenly explodes, zombies flying out as Gojo lies back with his head in his hands and a big shit-eating grin on his face as he falls)
Makima: No talking during the movie.
  • Makima tries to slice Gojo with a sword, but Limitless makes it so it's practically frozen in place. Gojo taps the blade with a "Whomp whomp" while Makima gives him an unamused "you think you're hilarious, don't you?" stare.
  • At one point during the battle, Boomstick's worries about Makima's Prime Minister Contract are shown to be quite reasonable: Gojo uses Red to blast Makima to pieces. Unfortunately due to Makima's Contract, it leads to a poor citizen in the mall using the bathroom getting annihilated instead.
  • While Makima is trying to shoot Gojo to death, she does her standard "Bang!" with each shot, but when she does the final one, which shoots off his leg, she says "Bang!" in an outright sassy tone of voice, rather than the usual harsh sadism.
  • Furthermore, while being shot, Gojo lets out a brief laugh. As if he can't believe he's being injured or on the back foot.
  • During the climax, as Gojo uses Unlimited Void on Makima, several images could be seen briefly flashing throughout the sequence behind Makima, including but not limited to:
    • Chihiro from Kagurabachi in his memetically viral pose.
    • Gojo's infamous severed legs with an Among Us crewmate visor on it.
    • Columbo.
    • A shot from a DEATH BATTLE! Cast of the episode's writer Liam Swan screaming.
  • In the fight's end after defeating Makima, Gojo leans back against a broken pillar with a smug grin on his face, seemingly unaware he's just relaxing in a burning down mall. And then a Jujutsu High incident report is filed about the fight, a darkly funny reminder of the consequences of fighting Makima:
Satoru Gojo eliminated the one known as the Control Devil.
    1012 non-sorcerers were killed.
    • Later on, Boomstick makes a Fridge Horror realization upon Gojo using Unlimited Void, a move that overloads someone's senses with infinite information, on Makima, who can transfer any attack on her to a citizen in Japan:
Boomstick: ...wait, doesn't that mean Gojo just unintentionally killed basically everyone in Japan?
      Wiz: Don't think about it.
    • Perhaps contradicted by the death toll in the after-action report, the possibly rising casualties from Unlimited Void stopped just above a thousand once Makima was hit with Hollow Purple and the connection was severed. But the fact that Wiz doesn't deny that Japan could've been entirely depopulated is the cherry on top of this Black Comedy.
    • Wiz then notes that due to being unaffected by Unlimited Void, Gojo wouldn't be at risk of Makima's Contract transfering its effects to him. Boomstick gives a nice and simple response to this:
      Boomstick: Good for him.
  • With the next episode being Scooby-Doo VS Courage the Cowardly Dog, there's a good lot of humor to be found in the fact that after an episode featuring Makima, who's well-known for her association with dogs and treating Denji like a dog, her episode is followed up with a matchup featuring two dogs. Both of them being Lovable Cowards to boot!

Scooby-Doo VS Courage the Cowardly Dog
  • Boomstick refers to the 2002 film as the most incredible major motion picture of all time.
  • Wiz and Boomstick list Scooby's friends and family, but when they reach Scrappy-Doo, Boomstick hisses like a cat rather than say his name.
  • When noting that, in spite of Great Danes being known for their bravery, Scooby is a complete coward, Wiz states that "the apple didn't just fall far from the tree; it defied the laws of Newtonian physics and rocketed into space at the speed of light!".
  • Scooby's preview ends with Wiz saying that he's taking DUMMI to a power of positive assertion class because he couldn't bother to program him to be less of The Eeyore, to which Boomstick replies, "Ah, taking a page out of ol' Papa Boomstick's book".
  • While discussing Scooby-Doo's inexplicable disguises, he even mistakes Mama Boomstick for his co-host just Disguised in Drag. Only for the real Boomstick to show up beside her and admonish Wiz for it, followed with an apology.
  • Like in previous episodes, the start of Courage's rundown is a verbatim of the show's intro, even with Boomstick quoting Eustace Bagge:
Boomstick: Stupid Wiz! Ya made me look bad! OOGA BOOGA BOOGA!
Wiz: [Beat] You're breathing on me. Get away!
    Boomstick: Sorry.
  • The clip they showed while presenting Eustace is the perfect description of him: being launched through the air, glued to his chair and utterly uncaring of anything else that's happening.
  • When going over the myriad of threats Courage has faced in Nowhere, Boomstick says "aliens, robots, alien robots!".
  • In both profiles, the "Feats" section is instead labelled "Things He Does for a Scooby Snack" (Scooby) and "Things He Does For Love" (Courage).
  • At the end of Scooby's rundown, Wiz offhandedly mentions that Scooby is an alien, causing Boomstick to yell "Wait, What?" before cutting to Courage.
  • "Maddie Ziegler is a universe-buster."
  • During the full analysis, a clip plays of Courage turning inside-out. An info card pops up that just says "jesus christ" in all lowercase with no punctuation.
  • When highlighting Courage's shapeshifting capabilities, a clip of Bob Ross is shown painting a landscape with Courage screaming in its horizon.
  • Boomstick really hates Eustace, to the point where when he finally introduces him, he refers to him as this:
Boomstick: A monster who tortures his poor pooch every single day. A depraved, psychotic motherf(beep)ker. THE TRUE PRINCE OF DARKNESS. THE GREATEST VILLAIN IN CARTOON HISTORY! EUSTACE...
  • In contrast to Boomstick's hatred, Eustace's silhouette can be seen doing a "raise the roof"-like dance at the end of the former's rant, as if he likes all the hype Boomstick is giving him.
  • Boomstick introduces the fight with a variant of his catchphrase but then realizes how awful it sounds.
Boomstick: IT'S TIME FOR A DOG BATTLE-Oh GOD, when I say it like that, it sounds- [transitions to the fight]
  • Scooby and Courage go into a thumb war after Courage trips Scooby to be the bait for the monster. This turns out to be the entire impetus for the fight. The entire fight is spent with these two pounding each other into submission... because they want to establish who has to deal with a guy in a silly mask chasing them. Most of the fight is even spent having Eustace get injured by the very people running from him.
  • The thumb war itself is their thumbs punching each other. Complete with boxing gloves. Scooby wins... By cheating.
  • During a Scooby-Dooby Doors sequence, Scooby can be seen gathering a bunch of fruit and some dresses, which would later be used for his disguise as two ladies.
  • Said sequence segues to Courage opening a few doors and screaming on what's the other side. The first two are Bad Mr. Frosty and Godzilla. The third one is Columbo, for some reason.
[Courage opens a door, revealing Columbo]
    Columbo: There's one more thing–
[Courage slams the door shut and yells]
  • After getting terrified by the things behind the doors, Courage opens a fourth one to reveal... Scooby and a copy of him both disguised as attractive ladies, complete with sexophone playing in the background. Courage, naturally, responds by screaming in terror at this, too.
  • The Zobrinski Triangle is utilized with Scooby making a copy of himself, grabbing Courage himself for use as the unwilling third dance partner, and spinning so fast that it suddenly cuts to a shot of Boomstick and Wiz watching the battle, covering their eyes as the monitor itself cracks before cutting to a TV test pattern screen, then back to the aftermath. In said aftermath, Courage ends up laying on the ground, completely singed and letting out his trademark dazed cackle, all with a completely unharmed Computer right next to him.
  • During the fight, Courage destroys the Mystery Machine with the God Bone. Judging by the incredible pile of Scooby Snacks left behind from the impact, the Mystery Machine was apparently made of nothing but Scooby Snacks.
  • How does the fight end? With Courage using the Dark Matter Meteor to summon the God Bone to club Scooby to death, only to find Scooby devouring enough Scooby Snacks (and the God Bone) that transform him into a galactic-sized kaiju that is ready to punch the Earth into smithereens, and having Courage scream so loud that Planet Kaiju Scooby shatters then slams into Courage with the force of a meteor. And they both survive. Yes, this is real.
Courage: This could be bad, or my name isn't Chad James! [to audience as the music momentarily stops] And it's not.
  • As of the rules of Death Battle, Someone Has to Die. So, in between the battle of Courage vs Scooby, who would that person be? Eustace, just like in any Courage episode. The demonic face/lock on the front of the chest even lets out a belch after sealing Eustace inside.
  • After Scooby and Courage trap Eustace in the Chest of Demons — for bonus points, after he trips over the Dark Meteor lying on the ground — the duo share a laugh before comically passing out at the same time. As the episode fades out, Eustace can be heard telling them off from inside the Chest.
Eustace: [more annoyed than terrified] Oh, I HATE THAT STUPID DOOOOOG!

    Rick Sanchez VS The Doctor
  • Boomstick describes Morty as the Cannon Fodder who Rick makes smuggle grapefruit-sized seeds shoved up his ass.
Boomstick: And that's just the first episode!
  • Among Rick's antics, when Wiz brings up Pickle Rick, there is a brief flash of "Funniest shit I've ever seen."
  • According to Boomstick, Rick bullied Wiz back when the two attended mad scientist high school together, a memory Wiz prefers to forget.
Boomstick: Come on, you know you got a little Rick inside your chest just ready to burst his way out!
Wiz: Oh god! I need a drink.
  • Upon The Doctor's introduction in his analysis, Boomstick provides us with the staple Doctor Who joke:
    Boomstick: Doctor who?
    Wiz: Exactly!
    Boomstick: Doctor Exactly?
  • Boomstick confusing the Second Doctor for one of The Three Stooges.
  • As Wiz explains that Time Lords only look human, a clip of the Doctor naked in "The Time of the Doctor" plays.
  • At the end of the Doctor's preview, Wiz hopes that regenerating like a Time Lord would give certain people an attitude adjustment, much to Boomstick's chagrin as he storms off and suggests that Wiz replace him with DUMMI.
Wiz: Wait, Boomstick, don't go! You know talking to him is so depressing. Ugh, okay. Come back next week for the full episode of Rick VS. The Doctor. I'm sure Boomstick will be better adjusted by then.
    Boomstick: No, I won't!
  • There are plenty of comedic gems when the hosts discuss the Doctor's regeneration and different incarnations:
    • After Boomstick brings up the fact that there have been 14 versions of the Doctor (plus some extras) at the time of the episode, he suggests that by the time the viewer is watching the analysis, they may have seen the Fifteenth Doctor, or even the sixteenth. When he brings up the latter, clips of Patrick Stewart, Christopher Walken, and Idris Elba appear on screen... with the latter's clip being his reaction to eating a hot wing on Hot Ones.
    • Boomstick suggests that some incarnations of the Doctor hate the monarchy because they're werewolves.
    • When Wiz mentions that all incarnations of the Doctor have something in common (that being the love of adventure), Boomstick gets the wrong idea:
Boomstick (in a bad British accent): They're all Bri'ish!
  • The first clip of Rick after the analysis is of him doing the Fortnite default dance, while the Doctor's corresponding clip is of a Fall Guy dressed up as him.
  • The fight starts with Rick getting angry at the Doctor for not installing rear-view mirrors on the TARDIS after an accident. The Doctor tells Rick off for colliding with him before flying off, but not before Rick gets angry at being ignored and chases after him.
  • The title for the original track, "Wubba-Lubba-Allons-Y", when taking the meanings of both Rick and the Doctor's most iconic catchphrases into consideration, translates to "I am in great pain, let's go".
  • The Doctor arrives to the Planet of the Screaming Sun. His reaction to the eponymous parent star, howling in complete and utter agony and horror as the dawn breaks? An arched eyebrow, a fascinated "huh", and a look of genuine wonder.
  • Doubles as a moment of awesome, but when Rick pulls out a sword to fight The Doctor with, The Doctor responds by referencing the time he duelled Robin Hood, and outfences him with a spoon.
  • The arcade machines in the background. Some reference past death battles and one, labeled “Horse-Shadowing” simply features the Pony versions of Rick and The Doctor seen fighting in Bill Cipher vs. Discord.
  • Amidst the Blips & Chitz lobby, several past 3D competitors can be seen enjoying some leisure time. Special mentions go to Megatron's legs being too big for the chair — with Frieza perched on one of his feet — Darth Vader seemingly having a two-person birthday party, and Dimitri, the Chosen Undead and Dragonborn all hanging out together... next to Guts' still-dead body in the exact same pose from the end of his fight with Dimitri. It almost gives you the impression Dimitri carried Guts over so he could join in.
  • While Rick and the Doctor are both falling through the air, the Doctor uses the portal gun to keep them from a hard fall... only for the two to stop fighting as they're falling in order to look at the Screaming Sun, with even the music stopping for the moment.
  • Upon arriving in a room full of Weeping Angels, the Doctor proceeds to give the complete opposite of his famous advice to deal with them, telling Rick to blink as much as he can. Cue Rick being jumpscared by a Weeping Angel while the Doctor escapes.
The Doctor: Well, blink as much as you can. They're scared of rapid movement.
(Rick blinks thrice, each time causing an Angel to move closer to attack and making him gasp).
The Doctor: (using Rick's portal gun to teleport away) Bye!
    Rick: (irritated sigh) Ugh, motherfu-
  • Upon returning to the TARDIS, the Doctor bares shocked witness to a horde of Rick clones trashing the interior like a squad of chaotic wild monkeys... With one of the Ricks running in circles while butt-naked.
  • As the TARDIS is alive and sentient, its ability to alter time and space within itself comes up. As several Ricks pursue the Doctor out of the control room through its corridors, the TARDIS swaps rooms so they end up in a dead end (With a sign telling them "Pardon our appearance: Exciting Changes are headed your way!"), while the Doctor is re-routed to the now vacated control room.
  • At the end of the battle and after the Doctor parts ways with Morty, Rick's ghost appears and threatens to "haunt [Morty's] ass" if he forgets him. What does Morty do in response? Scream in terror and ask who Rick is.

    Goku VS Superman (2023)
  • Just after the fight was announced, the first two Goku vs. Superman battles were retitled to include a subtitle. While the original battle has "The Original Classic" added in, the sequel battle's subtitle is "The Irrelevant Sequel"...for a while.
  • Goku's background slate has "Not a bad dad, you guys are just mean" on it. Meanwhile Superman's background slate has his many love interests, MANY of which have the initials L.L., and then there's Wonder Woman, which kinda breaks the theme, but is still alliterative.
  • Boomstick labeling Kaioken as "Instant Steroids".
  • This Call-Back to Goku’s analysis from the first Goku vs Superman fight.
Boomstick: Within just a few years, he was so strong that the only worthy teachers left were gods! And a talking cat. (cut to Korin) But mostly gods!
  • Goku’s preview ends with Boomstick using Instant Transmission to grab a beer. In reality, he just ran to the fridge and back really fast, sounding winded upon returning.
  • After Wiz recites the classic Superman intro narration, Boomstick lampshades the "more powerful than a locomotive" line:
Boomstick: Geez, just a locomotive? People in the '40s needed bigger imaginations.
  • Boomstick wonders why Superman is depicted as a Jesus-like figure when his co-creators are Jewish. He also describes Adolf Hitler as "that ugly mustache".
  • As Wiz and Boomstick are discussing Superman's more absurd Beyond the Impossible-class abilities, Boomstick goes to note that his favorite is Clark being able to smell brownies all the way in North Dakota from orbit... While an overlay of the memetic scene of Superman inhaling gaseous Kryptonite while saying "My favorite." fades onto the screen.
  • At the end of Superman's preview, Boomstick goes to get some rum balls out of the oven, unaware of Wiz telling him that it's actually a radioactive petri dish.
  • During the battle, Superman is defending himself from a slew of ki blasts from Goku.
    • As he's nonchalantly deflecting the blasts, he realizes too late that he accidentally deflected the blast towards the moon. He has just enough time to make an expression of sheer terror before the blast, indeed, blows up the moon, much to his embarrassment.
    • And Goku is completely nonchalant about it. This is far from the first time the moon has been blown up.
Goku: Whoops, well, I guess we can wish it back later.
  • It's very easily missed, but while Superman and Ultra Instinct Goku are clashing (around the 19:12 mark), they - perhaps as a Mythology Gag to the original Dragon Ball - take a break from hitting each other for about three frames in order to play Rock–Paper–Scissors. They both pick scissors and tie.
  • At the end of the battle, it shows Goku, back in base form, sitting in a white void, but fully intact for once. Did he finally claim a victory? Nope. There's a halo sitting just above his head, and his tone upon realizing what happened indicates he's more bummed out about losing the fight rather than having died... although to be fair, even putting aside his previous appearances on the show, he's no stranger to dying himself.
Goku: (Sounding mildly annoyed) Aw, darn it.
  • At the end after Goku and Clark agree to a rematch we can see multiple instances of how their matchup might play out. Some of these include a recreation of the "Oh? You're approaching me?" meme from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure with the two wearing their opponent's outfit, Grand Priest Goku and Cosmic Superman having an arm wrestling contest using the Earth as a bench, Superboy vs. Kid Goku, a still image from the first fight of Super Saiyan 4 Goku clashing with Superman, Containment Suit Superman versus Drip Goku, Milkman Man fighting Super Saiyan 5 Goku, Scooby-Doo as Superman fighting Courage the Cowardly Dog as Goku, the two of them having a muffin-eating contest, and an elderly Goku and Kingdom Come Superman playing bingo.
  • At the end of the match, Boomstick cheers that the debate is finally over, but admits after a few seconds that this debate will go on forever.
  • By the end of the post analysis, Wiz and Boomstick have made a pretty compassionate speech about DEATH BATTLE! and what it stands for, what Goku and Superman stand for... And once things have wrapped up, Boomstick makes his ending pun. Only for things to immediately go to chaos to the point where Wiz is too distracted to say Superman is the winner:
Boomstick: I'm just Saiyan, no matter who you prefer, that battle was Super... man.
    Wiz: That's the worst pun!
Boomstick: Ah it fits them both.
    Wiz: But that's so lame!
Boomstick: I don't see you doing any better!
Wiz: I do the math, the puns are your job!
Boomstick: Well maybe if you math as good as I pun, then maybe Goku would have won!
Wiz: WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!
    Galactus VS Unicron
  • Galactus's preview begins with Wiz asking Boomstick about the nature of evil, to which Boomstick replies that it's three and a half beers too early for that question.
  • Boomstick believes that the question on Galan's mind was not on the nature of evil, but rather "HOW DO I TURN THIS GODDAMN SPACESHIP AROUND?!"
  • Much like Galan, the man who would become Galactus, Boomstick's great grandpappy tried to die on his own terms by flying into the sun. Unlike Galan, Great Grandpappy Boomstick was vaporized on impact.
  • At the end of Galactus's preview, Boomstick reveals that his dog Jack Spaniels had unfortunately died. Fortunately, Boomstick brought him back from the dead using the Necronomicon Wiz keeps in the broom closet, trapping Jack's soul in an infinite prison of torment between Heaven and Hell and releasing a thousand screaming souls promising a billion years of torment upon the land. Unicron's preview ends with a Call-Back to this, with Boomstick happily reminiscing on fighting an army of the damned off-screen.
Wiz: Jocelyn, get the proton packs!
  • Unicron's preview has Boomstick comparing the feud between Unicron and Primus as a classic Sibling Rivalry and them being sealed in asteroids as a "classic sibling prank". For him and his siblings, it was the dryer.
  • When Wiz talks about how Galactus's appearance changes depending on which species sees him, Boomstick says this is like how he sees the world. Cut to Wiz and DUMMI, who is wearing Galactus's helmet, as a pair of beer cans.
DUMMI: What are you staring at?
Boomstick: What matters most to me in the world. Awesome.
  • The Ultimate Nullifier, which Boomstick describes as a Happy Meal toy and Wiz calls an extremely roundabout way to win. Later on, Boomstick even refers to it as the "Ully-Nully".
  • Wiz points out the Fridge Logic of Galactus being threatened by his own device when it's made from and powered by Galactus' energy, can be called back at will, and even had the safety on when Mr. Fantastic stole it. Boomstick proposes that Galactus might have been bored.
  • Boomstick referencing Orson Welles' drunk champagne commercial outtakes when Wiz talks about the man who voiced Unicron for The Transformers: The Movie.
Boomstick: (Drunk off his ass) Aaaaaah, the Transformers movie has always been celebrated ferrz excellence...
  • Just before the actual fight commences, Boomstick goes out of his way to lampshade just how anticipated this fight was by a large number of fans:
Boomstick: IT'S TIME FOR THE DEATH BATTLE YOU'VE BEEN ASKING FOR FOREVER!!!
  • While undeniably badass, the initial exchange at the beginning of Galactus and Unicron's fight over Earth is essentially the Chaos Bringer telling his soon-to-be foe to piss off after the Devourer of Worlds states his intent to consume the planet. Not to mention Earth's sheer bad luck at being targeted by two world-eaters at the same time, practically making the planet a literal Cosmic Plaything.
  • The scale of the battle is both awe-inspiring, and yet makes the entire thing the mother of all Black Comedy, particularly on the part of Unicron effectively fighting dirty for most of it. Using Earth as a rock to smack Galactus across the face, collapsing a star to use a black hole like a firecracker, using a galaxy's stardust wrapped around his fist to make his punches burn that extra bit more.
  • Galactus' nonplussed blink as Unicron grabs the decorative horns of his helmet to deliver a knee to his face. He also gains a smug smirk when taunting Unicron for running, only to become bemused when the Chaos Bringer reveals what he’s really up to. As the Devourer of Worlds is perpetually stone faced, even when facing some of the more powerful Marvel characters, it’s rather amusing that his battle with Unicron brought some vivid expressions out of him.
  • One of the top-rated comments points out how this is effectively a Food Fight between two Planet Eaters.
anabomination2784: You know with them throwing planets and galaxies at each other, this technically counts as a food fight.
  • The Purple Prose performed by Galactus and Unicron make it look like the two are engaging in a rap battle in the middle of their universe-destroying fight to the death.
