Trope Pantheons Discussion

Go To

Welcome to the Trope Pantheons thread! Please read the rules:

    Rules
Rules. The following are not suggestions or tips, but things that have to be followed:
  • When writing a profile, take note of the following:
    • Gods cannot be followers or high priests for obvious reasons. The 'gods' have ascended meaning there is no need for said character to be a follower of another if they have ascended.
    • No hype profiles, please. 'Hype Profiles' are profiles that have been made out of ongoing events and have not been around for a long time. This creates 'hype' due to popularity and certain elements either through certain scenes, memes, dramatic acting or considered overly awesome. They are not bad tropes but building a portfolio solely for that is a bad idea, as they do not say a thing about representing the trope best (unless it's those trope concepts that they are trying to embody for a long time)
      • You can see one if the profile is only showing off how awesome they are or suddenly pushing how 'significant' they are thanks to the just very recent events rather than respecting the longstanding good representations of the trope. And usually having... minimum portfolio or flavor texts and being a bit too generalized or self-contained to events from within their home series instead of interacting with other Pantheon members.
  • When posting in the forum, take note of the following:
    • When you suggest a God, please explain why they fit the trope. Not everyone is going to understand just "X should be the God of Y because they exemplify the trope" off the bat, especially if they're unfamiliar with the work.
    • You must use the Trope Pantheons discussion thread in the forums if you wish to add a new deity, story, something else of importance to the Trope Pantheon canon, or reworking an existing deity (be it simply improving their existing profile or changing their title).
      • For new and reworked deities, 3 [tup] means the profile will have a one week waiting period.
      • For new and reworked deities, 4 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 5 [tup] is an automatic ascension for new and reworked deities.
      • Speaking of reworks, for anyone that wants to improve such profiles, they have to review the current trope the character(s) has and see if it still holds up or if there is a better rep for their trope.
    • For adding new Treasures to The Great Treasury or new Dominions to the Dominions, the following rules apply:
      • For new Treasures or Dominions, 3 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 4 [tup] is an automatic addition to the Great Treasury or Dominions.
    • Do not repost a profile in the forums more than twice in a day if noticeable changes have not been made in between. If a profile is posted a third time in a row without noticeable alterations, it will be downvoted. This is so spamming of no-effort profiles is less frequent and to prevent tropers from getting aggravated seeing the same profile over and over. The minimum acceptable change has to be a single flavour text.
    • The Pantheon is not a mouthpiece for you to voice your opinions on certain characters. You may like certain characters more than others, but do not make the mistake of making profiles for characters you like look like Character Shilling.
    • Tropers new to the Pantheon are barred from approving or downvoting profiles until they have ascended at least two profiles.
    • Do not include fan reception in any profiles. It has nothing to do with the character themselves and will create unnecessary conflict.
    • Write a detailed explanation on why the character is the best candidate for deity of that trope. If people disagree with you, do not force it on the people.
    • Keep in mind that if you still want to try to find a trope for a particular character, you are only given three chances to find a particular trope for them. If a suggestion goes past three possible tropes, then it will come off as shoehorning a character into the Pantheon just for the sake of that character to be there.
      • On a related note, even if a character does have a free trope being suggested, there is still a limit of three attempts for suggesting that character for that trope. If no one responds to that certain proposal after being posted three times, then it will get to the point where the idea will be seen as being shoehorned into the Pantheon. In addition, the idea needs to be considered acceptable and approved because they are good, not for the sake of pitying others because no one is responding to their idea.
  • When posting Pantheon related stuff to the wiki, take note of the following:
    • Do not put a link to these Pantheon pages into the main wiki page. The moment you want to add in a main Characters page that the character is a God of this trope, do not do it. If you see leftovers of this practice, inform the forum and use the cutlist. This also goes to the Trivia page. The only exception to this rule is if a page in the Pantheon could be confused for a page in Main, like Good Colors, Evil Colors and Good and Evil Colors.
    • Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment ALSO applies here. Do not bring things that would incite fights, even if it is what is currently the hot topic and might be 'urgent'. For example, the political scene and some really bad politicians. We are not here to fight at each other, so don't suggest things that go to that direction, this is a fictional Pantheon after all.
    • To add a Pantheon page for a certain work, 4 or more characters coming from the same series/franchise should be ascended before adding the page. For Creator specific pages, 4 deities coming from the same creator and 2 individual work pages coming from the same creator is the minimum to warrant a page.
    • Do not create a trope page for a story until the story is fully completed.

    Instructions and Tips
Here are some tips one should keep in mind when editing:

  • Preparing to write:
    • First thing to do before present a profile is to go to the Trope Pantheons discussion thread. In the forums, you must discuss with other users on adding ideas and seek their approval with sound reasoning. You can also get some assistance in the forum thread by either asking for help and those interested asking if they can help. Submissions that are added without discussion are likely to be deleted and those who violate those rules by adding Pantheon content without discussion will get reported to the mods.
    • If you feel the need to remove a character for some reason (poor quality, outdated titles, etcetera) and replace him/her with another or outright rework, please see what the other tropers think about this in the discussion thread before doing anything hasty. Use good reasoning to see if your idea can easily replace the character present without drawing out your statement or giving too ambiguous claims most do not understand.
    • Please be sure to consult others in the discussion about what you want to work before making the profile. This is done to see if your proposal is the best representative and so, in case your profile is turned down, you do not waste time writing something that others might not find suitable.
      • In the same vein, if you adopt a profile from another troper, it is recommended that you make an announcement that you have done so on the discussion thread. More often than not, a trope that was reserved for something was given away to someone else. Check the Related tab on the top of a page to see if a trope or character has been reserved by a user.
    • If, for whatever reason, you are writing about a God who just happens to be a person in real life, just try to be very careful about what you decide to say. Do not try to make the editing seem too meta (self-referential) and use the aformentioned creativity to create hypothetical scenarios towards fictional characters.
  • When writing a profile for a character, here are a few things to note:
    • All deities should be sorted by their divine ranking. Put Overdeities on the top of the page and Quasideities on the bottom. Also be sure to add them in alphabetical order by their first/given name (can be reversed if it is Eastern ordered). For a group, if there is no official name for them all list down all their names by order of relevance or (if too long to list) title them as Insert Name Here Main Characters or some other identifiable title along the same lines.
    • The maximum number of tropes that a god can have is two, but do not try to abuse that fact. If you need to use a second trope to specify a certain thing about their position, that can be excused either because said character represents their trope choice very well alongside the first trope. It is still generally encouraged to only have one trope.
    • A trope can only belong to one profile at a time. The only time two profiles can share a trope is if there are explicit variations listed in the trope page proper (e.g. Muscle Angst is held by both Biscuit Krueger and Chihiro Fujisaki as the former represents "Too Much Muscle" and the latter represents "Not Enough Muscle")
    • If the character you are about to add to a House already exists in another, make sure to mention that this person has spots in other House as well. Up to 2 places can be made for a deity, with the sole exceptions being those at the Main House to highlight those characters’ importance to the Pantheon’s lore.
    • For a character's theme song, try to avoid calling it "Theme of God X" or "Theme of (Show where God X originates from)". If possible, try to find out if the song has an actual name through research. Most importantly, it has to be part their series’ official soundtracks from media. Do not list songs that are made by fans or outside sources. If they were not specifically used as music for that specific character, then they do not count. Furthermore, it has to be a general theme specifically made for that characters’ appearances, not some generic music that plays for many other instances not related to the character in question.
    • For images, when adding an image for your chosen character, it is highly recommended to use a stylized image that embodies the character or renders that also highlights a character’s behavior (such as cool poses). Most images should be from the main adaptations of the character, unless the images from the other media are of a higher quality than the adaptation. Unless it is needed, do not use fanart for images. If you are, please attribute to the original artist. Due to the website’s dark mode, removing white backgrounds from an image is paramount. This website is suggested to do the background removal. If an image you have takes up too much bytes, it is suggestible to use this site to reduce the byte size. If the byte is still too big, put the compressed image to other sites (or even the same one) to compress even further. Use wikias to look for better images, as even wikias for the series might not contain good official images.
    • Creativity is your friend. While it is not recommended to get too ditzy at your ideas, it is best that when writing a profile for a certain character, do you think of capable scenarios between X and Y. Tip: do not use shallow examples (X wields a sword and Y wields one too) and try to think of relationships that makes sense (i.e those characters that are shout-outs for another).
  • Pantheon Content:
    • Some series or genres will eventually have greater representation in the Pantheon than others. This is unavoidable, but a little diversity helps to make you not look like a shill per say. Try to ensure that if you add a deity from a popular series, make sure that it is because they are a good representative for the trope in question, and not just because they are connected to another deity in their respective canon.
      • As far as deities from actual mythologies, there is generally expectation to build the profiles off interactions from fictional portrays rather than basing it entire from the actual myth. Therefore, a mythological deity should be more of a Composite Character whose main identity is from the actual myth.
    • Occasionally there will be Gods that carry a title without a trope. This is not forbidden, but it is well advised not to abuse them. The only house that a tropeless profile are wholly allowed is the House of Food. Mainly due to most food items lacking tropes, and adding tropes about said foodstuffs is slightly unnecessary. However, the character being ascended for their choice of a food, or food-related thing must be a decently good representative of said item. (i.e their Trademark Favorite Food, or something that they are closely associated with In-Universe, or both).
    • For Dominions and Treasures profiles, always consider what made those places/objects popular in the first place. Were they plot-important, identifiable imagery or have a unique aspect of it? Do not just bring regular objects under the basis of following a certain canon.
  • For Profile Standards:
    • Flavor text is used to describe certain things about a character, place or object. To avoid short ones, it is recommended to write flavor text with 4-7 sentences that can fill around 2 lines each. Be warned that adding too many sentences does not equal good flavor text as it is not an essay of sorts (unless words are substantial and do add to the overall line).
    • Character Profiles of a certain person should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 7 (at the minimum) tropes describing their character.
      • Flavor text count for a deity profile should have by minimum, 10 (depending if the character in question has enough relationships/characterization) to 15 with a maximum of 20-25 for an individual profile.
      • On the other hand, group profiles (profiles of a group that has 4 or more members) have their maximum flavor text count to 15 minimum, giving individual lines for the other members of the group (unless the members are not as characterized) up to 30 at max.
    • Dominion profiles of a certain place should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 5 (at the minimum) tropes describing the context of the place.
      • Flavor text count should range at least 10 to 15.
    • Treasure profiles (inanimate objects without a trope) should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 6 (at the minimum) tropes that describes the object itself.
      • Flavor text count should be at least 7 flavor text up to 12 to constitute a treasure profile.

    Divine Ranking System
  • Overdeity: Omnipotent-level Reality Warpers capable of manipulating the entire universe (or at least the world) at will. Within their own universe they are believed to be omnipotent, or at least impossible-to-completely-destroy embodiments or concepts.
  • Greater Gods: High-level Reality Warpers and that are extremely powerful (capable of destroying or changing anywhere from a large city to a planet at will) and very strong non-reality warpers capable of doing the same thing.
  • Intermediate Gods: Deities at this level are capable of strong but specialized powers such as hydrokinesis, pyrokinesis, etc. without major drawbacks and low level Reality Warpers capable of affecting their immediate area at will.
  • Lesser Gods: Capable of highly specific or little power on their own, or suffer from Power at a Price. However, they may be able to ruthlessly exploit their power or combine it with just being badass enough to make up for it.
  • Demigods: Basically the Badass Normals of the pantheon, making up for their lack of abilities with strength, strategy, and/or planning.
  • Quasideities: Any otherwise normal human, human equivalent, or below without any special powers or training will fall here.

    Templates
Template for adding a new deity:

God X, God/dess of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Rank: This can range from Quasideity, Demigod, Lesser God, Intermediate God, Greater God, to Overdeity, based on representation of power mentioned above.
  • Symbol: An image or icon used to represent the deity.
  • Theme Song: Official song (in other words, no fan music, regardless of quality) that usually is used in affiliation with the character. If the deity is a musician this will most likely be their Signature Song. If possible, give a link for reference, preferably on either a website like Soundcloud or YouTube.
  • Alignment: Good, evil, neutral etc. Forget about The Great Character Alignment Debate here, the Pantheon is one of the few places where you can assign Dungeons & Dragons alignment to characters that don't have alignment system. After all, the Pantheon is based on D&D and is made for fun.
  • For Pokémon deities only:
    • Gender: Defines the gender of the Pokémon; if genderless, it instead defines what gender they identify as.
    • Ability: Provides the Pokémon's ability. If they can Mega Evolve, the new ability is listed as well.
    • Moves: Defines the four moves used by a Pokémon. A Z-Move may also be listed.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the character.
  • Domains: Things that the character has influence over.
  • Herald: Non-ascended loyal character that is from the same series as the ascended character.
  • High Priest: Non-ascended like heralds, but not from the same series, and can serve as a worthy replacement in case something would happen. They can be served as part-time workers in case the originals are busy with some jobs. Co-Godhood is accepted depending on the approval of the originals, usually if the co-deity is from the same series.
  • Followers: Non-ascended characters that are not part of the Pantheon, but would probably worship this character by the fact that they share the ascended character's trope.
  • Relationships between ascended characters go here with your chosen character, it goes something like this:
    • Allies: Members of the Pantheon that are allies, those that share the same values as them and would theoretically be friends with them.
    • Rivals: Members of the Pantheon that are rivals, people who may look at your character with suspicion or a challenge.
    • Enemies: Members of the Pantheon that are foes, those who would see your chosen character as a threat, either on their pespective or yours.
    • Additional Character Relationships: Members of the Pantheon that do not fit in various relationships (examples include Enemy Mine, Vitriolic Best Buds, Teeth-Clenched Teamwork, Headbutting Heroes, Friendly Enemy, Friendly Rival, Just Friends, etc.), allies, rivals, or enemies.
    • Partner: Defines a partnership with an ascended deity and Mon-type. (if any)
    • Feared by/Fears: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon notably fear or are feared by.
    • Respected by/Respects: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon respect or are respected by.
    • Opposed by/Opposes: Not necessarily the same as "Enemies", but this is used for any deity whom the members of the Pantheon directly opposes or is opposed by (basically the opposite of "Respects") terms of certain viewpoints, regardless of alignment.
    • Pitied by/Pities: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon feel pity for or are found pitiable by.
    • Conflicting Opinion: Sometimes, the Deities argue over specific themes and philosophies.
  • Add the Intro. The intro is made up of two trivia, the Ascension Text (or just the Ascension) and The Bio. Both are necessary, but which order you use for them may vary depending on the profile in question. It may be better for one profile to have The Bio first and the Ascension second or vice-versa, although for the most part the order is irrelevant:
    • The Ascension Text: This the story of how the character got into the Pantheon and/or was ascended. There are many ways for this to happen. They may be tricked into it or have simply wandered into the Pantheon, they may have had an already ascended character bring them in, they may already be in the Pantheon (via being another deity's Herald or sharing a trope) and got "promoted", or some combination of the above. Anything is possible in the Pantheon, so use your imagination, but try to incorporate their trope into the story, if possible.
    • The Bio: A brief synopsis on the character's backstory. No need for the character's entire life/production history, but just give enough that those who don't know the character can get an idea of how the character works.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Deities/Characters is 10-15 (15-20 for group profiles) at minimum to 20-25 (30 for group profiles) at maximum.

Template for Dominions profiles:

Place X, Place of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Alignment: Refers to the dominion's role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the dominion.
  • Domains: Things that the place has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the location has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as where the dominion is linked to, note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said dominion, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Dominion is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Dominions is 10 at minimum to 15 at maximum.

Template for Treasure profiles:

The name of the item in here (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Appearance: A shortened description of the item's looks with some notable features also mentioned.
  • Class: Refer to the Treasure Classification System in the Great Treasury.
  • Alignment: Refers to the objects' role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Museum Check: A note that says whether the item is viewable by the public.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the item.
  • Domains: Things that the item has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the item has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as where the item is linked to (especially the original owner of the item), note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said object, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Treasure is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Treasures is 7 at minimum to 12 at maximum.

@Muundeis Thanks for the info. Should make it a bit easier to fix those bits. Though just so you know, I did create a sandbox after a suggestion.

Also, Merc isn't destructive hungry (that would be Reinhard, or worse yet, Hajun), it's more that he is a mix of well intentioned and incredibly selfish and that his methods are far less than savory (He is the reason someone like Reinhard went from a normal human in the Third Reich, to a near godlike being that causes all kinds of problems.) He is after all trying to make Marguerite Breuilh (Marie) his successor while trying to prevent Reinhard from becoming it (he is just a means to an end after all).

He is kinda hard to pin down.

He also has a bad habit of looking down on others. It's not intentional but he is so far above those around him that even when he tries to be respectful he just comes across as condescending. And then there is the stuff he did to Michael, as well as the stuff he put the main character Ren, who is effectively his son (don't ask, long story), through.

And the reason I wondered if any would dislike multiversal reality warping shenanigans is again due to the Throne, something he used to gain all the knowledge in the world by creating his law of the eternal recurrence. I was mostly curious due to the fact that during my research I cam across something called the Living Tribunal from the Marvel verse, so that is where the idea for that kinda came from. (though remember that Merc is not the first nor the last to have used it, he is just to first that might have come into this trope Pantheon, so other Throne gods might earn ire for the same reasons as him).

Though that bit you stated about the nature of the Pantheon kinda eased something for me. I was kinda concerned whether it would be OK to add something as powerful as the Throne to it, since the more I research it, the more I've come to realize just how stupidly overpowered it is.

[up] Yes. We got plenty of Eldritch Abominations and Gods of Evil. Another one won't shake things too much.

And i see everything in place. Try your best but the pantheon won't be easily destroyed or corrupted, just ask the Grand United Alliance of Destruction

  • Herald: Marco Ubaldo Diaz, her human friend
  • High Priestess: Mamika Kirameki
  • Allies: Madoka Kaname, Sailor Moon, Sakura Kinomoto Fate Testarossa-Harlaown, Haruto Soma/Kamen Rider Wizard, Ichigo Momomiya/Mew Ichigo, Mike and Sulley
  • Enemies: SHOCKER
  • Not that many manage to find the Pantheon on their own, but it's often a good sign for anyone who wants to ascend. Star and Marco ended up in the Pantheon on accident while exploring different dimensions. Liking what she saw, she met many deities there before applying to become one herself. Sailor Moon saw to it that she was ascended quickly afterwards. The occasion was met with Star giving hugs to every good-aligned deity in the Pantheon.
    • Afterwards, she and Marco visited various new worlds discovered in the Pantheon. The adventures ware too numerous to count and many of them involved cleaning up the messes she started. Nevertheless, her ascension was seen as a positive development.
  • Her ascension was met with great jubilation from the Magical Girl Sisterhood, who quickly added her to their ranks. Her power is great, but she had much to learn before using her powers to the fullest. Tuxedo Mask saw to it to see if he could help her use her abilities.
    • Ichigo has enjoyed her company, even though Star can be a bit energetic even to her tastes. The one thing they do have in common? Kicking butt and looking super cute while they do it.
  • May well be the one who fulfilled the 'warrior' part of Magical Girl Warrior more than any other Magical Girl in the Pantheon. Anyone who thinks that taking her wand from her would leave her helpless will be in for a rude awakening as Star will simply beat you to a pulp with her bare hands, and that's when she doesn't have any weapons with her. Haruto Soma even invites her to some sparring rounds. He has been impressed with her skills so far.
  • The main reason for her ascension is the nature of her powers. Whenever she does use her wand, it spouts out cute things with destructive force. It can be an oxymoron for many. It should be noted that despite her massive potential magical power, she isn't that good at magic. At all. It is hoped that she can at least learn in the Pantheon where she is less likely to set the entire place ablaze.
  • While Marco is officially her herald in the Pantheon, he also plays the role as her bodyguard. Some call that questionable given how capable she is even [i]without[/i] her wand, but Star wouldn't have it any other way. The couple has been pestered with questions of whether the two will hit it off. Both insist on figuring that out on their own pace.
  • Is naturally opposed to the House of Monsters in general. She has had the most battles with the organization SHOCKER. The group was one of the few groups who wanted Ludo to ascend. While their monster weren't impressive, they are a tenacious bunch who never back down to adversity.
    • Her fights with monsters aren't the only reason those in that house do not like her. Her Human Alien race has fought monsters over the generations. Some of them accuse her of being prejudiced against their kind. Star responded by trying to move away from that aspect of her traditions and appeals to more good-aligned monsters.

  • Uneasy Relationship: [[Tainted Friendship Felix (Red vs Blue)
  • It was supposed to be a big moment for Ludo. Rumor had it that Melkor wanted to ascend someone from his world in response to Star's ascension. Ludo saw himself as the prime candidate, given that he has had the most experience taking her on. Sure he has failed to steal the wand multiple times, but he figured that if many of the villains in the Pantheon failed, they could at least understand his plight. Once he made his seat in the Court of the Guards, his smile disappeared when he he came face to face with the man he employed early on. It turned out that Melkor revived Toffee to hand him a spot in the Pantheon. The only reason Ludo was invited was whether he would accept the position of his herald. Ludo refused such a humiliating position and was subsequently kicked out of the Pantheon. Despite not showing any emotion during the confrontation, everyone figured it was a satisfying experience for him.
    • While he healing factor isn't up to snuff in his heyday, he remains an extremely dangerous foe for people, especially magical users as he can simply drain all of their magic. He also proved to be a master manipulator, fooling practically everyone to get his body back. It was only the unexpected intervention of Star that he was defeated.
  • His inclusion adds a dangerous strategist into Melkor's fold. Toffee has ample experience manipulating events to his favor and is willing to do the same for the GUAE. He stated he has no plans to take over the role for himself. To him, the war between good and evil is more of an inconvenience than anything. He is satisfied with his current position as long as he gets his revenge on Star and her mom. With that said, Melkor keeps an eye on him in case the reptile is interested in draining his own magic.
    • Is in good company with the likes of Littlefinger and Revolver Ocelot. He was a bit perturbed that those two also ended up defeated by the unlikely exposure by their enemies. Toffee is willing to help each other to form more foolproof plans.
  • Starscream was impressed with Toffee's takeover of the Forces of Evil and offered to work together to earn a place in the GUAE Mastermind division. It didn't last long, as they both accused the other of betraying each other to get a position for themselves. Melkor swiftly denied both of their entrances in order to break up the alliance.
  • The Magical Girl Sisterhood was well informed of his exploits from Star and was put on high alert upon his ascension. Toffee has a lot of experience in battling and defeating Magical Girls such as Star's mom.
  • Had a great deal of success in corrupting Star's wand to her benefit, nearly destroying it in the process. While the wand managed to restore itself, he has not shelved such plans yet. After all, there are other more successful ways to do so. Many were worried when he was spotted meeting Dark Samus. If he intended to use Phazon to corrupt magic in general, many wizards would be in danger.
  • Orochi may not completely align with Toffee's manneringss, but he is proud to have another Repugnant Reptile deity in the Pantheon. Toffee pays lip service to the serpent God as to appease him.
  • No one can truly trust Felix when it comes to being a reliable friend, but that is one trait Toffee has in common with Felix. Felix claimed Toffee was a follower of his, an accusation Toffee has denied. Whether it is true or not, there is no denying that Toffee got come help from the space marine.
  • One of the most unusual oppositions to his ascension came from Lord Hater... or more specifically Commander Peepers who stated that his ascension would further reduce trust among villains in the Pantheon. The ascension happened anyways and Toffee stated he has no qualms over it. But as with many things, his wrath is more subtle. Shortly afterwards, the villainous duo found many of their minions beaten up a pulp. The two quickly claimed Toffee was responsible. The two factions have been at each others' throats ever since.

Took a while, but here's Moby Dick and Ahab again. The potholes for the other are in their profiles, as where they could likely go if possible. Anything else to add or fix for them. Otherwise, do they both look good to go?

Moby-Dick, Divine Animal Nemesis (The White Whale)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/moby_dick.jpg
  • Intermediate God
  • Symbol: A white fin with spears in it
  • Theme Song: The Attack
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
  • Portfolio: Sea Monster, Ambiguously Evil, Shrouded in Myth
  • Domains: Whales, Legend
  • Rival: Monstro
  • Enemies: Captain Ahab, The Kraken, Bruce, Ika Musume
  • Opposed by: Wailord
  • Source of Interest for: Tidehunter
  • Irritated at: Aquaman
  • Avoided by: Pinocchio
  • Moby Dick is a fearsome whale that attacks anyone that dare cross its path. Captain Ahab, a former whaler, once encountered it and in the ensuing fight, lost a leg to the whale. Ever since that meeting, Ahab sought nothing more than to kill the whale no matter what. The whale itself is very powerful and has been described by many as something of a legend.
    • Contrary to what Ahab may say, Moby Dick might not actually be something that actively pursues others for the sake of it, but rather, a whale that will potentially attack others regardless of provocation. Even taking into account it's aggression, it still sees Ahab as nothing more than a recurring nuisance.
  • It was one of the stormier days in the Pantheon as a group of deities set out for a sea voyage in search of something potentially useful. As the storms raged on, some of the members encountered what appeared to be a white whale in the distance. As the crew members were attempting to make sense of what was happening, the ship they were on got attacked by the whale. Some backup had to arrive ensure the crew's safety and even then, the whale proved to be a lot of trouble for everyone involved. Eventually all the chaos had subsided with plenty of damage done to the ships and the whale having apparently gotten away. The whale had been identified as Moby Dick and there is plenty of apprehension by others about encountering it in the Pantheonic seas given what had happened.
  • Even though it is quite a dangerous threat for seafarers, even Moby Dick has had to fight other sea monsters in the Pantheon. Fights between it and the Kraken have happened quite a bit and anyone who has witnessed a battle between them has more often than not got their ship heavily damaged in the process. This isn't even getting into the fact that there are a sea monster or two that's potentially even more dangerous than even Moby Dick or the Kraken.
    • Of the various other sea creatures in the Pantheon, few confrontations get as deadly as that of Moby Dick and Monstro, both whales and the latter of which is said to be similar to the former in a way or two. There's also Wailord, but it really doesn't get involved in these fights given that it's more benign compared to the aforementioned two. Moby Dick doesn't care much about Wailord on it's end.
  • Pinocchio, having had a very bad run-in with Monstro, really doesn't want anything to do with another whale, especially if Moby Dick is every bit as aggressive as Monstro. While the puppet hasn't really went through the sea since Monstro, he isn't taking any chances on encountering another whale at the worst possible time.
  • A few have pondered whether or not it's possible for someone to have a consistent alliance with Moby Dick given it's aggression and power. From there, Aquaman stepped in given his experience with getting sea animals on his side, including a time where he was in temporary control of the equally aggressive Monstro. After a bit of a struggle, Aquaman was able to control Moby Dick for a period of time. Some of these subsequent meetings had Moby Dick attack Aquaman before he could gain control of the whale, effectively meaning that an alliance between the two isn't really stable.
  • Tidehunter has taken some interest in Moby Dick given that the whale is aggressive towards other sea creatures. Tidehunter has also been involved with another conflict with a different sea captain, and while he is aware that Moby Dick is just a wild animal in comparison, he's optimistic about the whale being a true threat of the seas.
  • It being a powerful and almost mythical sea creature has led some to trying to go after it. Many of these attempts to hunt down Moby Dick are nowhere near as close to what Ahab was able to do. A few are stubborn enough to do repeat attempts, but the Pantheon having a decent amount of dangerous sea monsters means that trying to reach Moby Dick would be hard...or worse yet, it'd be too late for some to realize that a fearsome white whale is swimming under their boat during their exploration.
  • While it is largely accepted that Moby Dick is an aggressive white whale, there are a few who believe that it is something much more than that. One of the most common guesses going around about Moby Dick is that it's actually the personification of something, be it either nature, fate, or even Satan. Some of these guesses haven't been taken into serious consideration, though its reputation as a myth or legend of some kind does make a few even more wary about not wanting to get into trouble should they encounter Moby Dick.

Captain Ahab, God of Seafarers with Peg-Legs (Old Thunder)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_1568067_102_1.png
  • Demigod
  • Symbol: His pegleg
  • Alignment: True Neutral, but can easily be Chaotic Neutral when it comes to Moby Dick
  • Portfolio: Father Neptune, Revenge Before Reason, Determinator, Broken Ace, Handicapped Badass, The Unfettered
  • Domains: Revenge, Seafaring
  • Acquaintances with: Kunkka
  • Enemies: Moby Dick, Monstro, Wailord
  • Opposed by: Carl Fredricksen, Jean-Luc Picard
  • Not So Different from: Captain Nemo
  • As the Captain of the ship known as Pequod, Ahab is a very skilled and respected leader to the other members of his crew. Beneath all that however lies an undying hatred for Moby Dick, who attacked him previously and ate one of his legs. That leg is replaced with a peg-leg made out of a sperm whale's jawbone. Ahab is very much driven in his desire to get revenge on the White Whale, no matter what the cost may be and it's to the point that others believe that he his obsession with Moby Dick is insane and dangerous.
  • It really didn't take that long for Ahab to resume his quest for vengeance against Moby Dick after being told that the whale was still around. What actually got him upset was that in the Pantheon, no one can truly die, thus his goal of killing Moby Dick is most likely never going to be fulfilled there. Despite that, his determination to go after Moby Dick remains and he's guaranteed to continue his journey no matter the circumstances of it.
  • Not only is he very much aware of Moby Dick still being around, Ahab also learned that there were a couple of other whales roaming the seas of the Pantheon. While he doesn't consider either of them as big of a priority compared to Moby Dick (especially since Wailord isn't actively attacking others despite his size and strength), he's aware that there's a strong possibility of him getting into conflict with either whale later on. Given that Ahab was a commercial whaler before Moby Dick came along, he does have the necessary equipment needed for a potential encounter. Ahab considers Monstro to be potentially as troublesome as Moby Dick was since there were some who compared the two whales to each other, alongside the fact that Monstro has been known to not let any prey of his get away.
    • While there are a variety of other sea monsters out there that are potentially more dangerous than Moby Dick could ever be, Ahab only sees these other sea monsters as just obstacles in his path to enact revenge on Moby Dick. Given how skilled of a seafarer Ahab is, he's likely to have some sort of measure in place should something like the Kraken attack him while trying to hunt down the White Whale.
  • Both Ahab and Captain Nemo have a bit in common despite some sort of wariness towards each other. The most prominent similarity between them is that they're skilled seafarers that are on a quest of revenge for different reasons and aren't the sanest of men despite initial impressions. There's also the fact that their desire for revenge has put their respective crew members at risk along with getting into conflict against different sea monsters, though in Captain Nemo's case fighting a sea monster was just an obstacle and not an overall goal compared to Ahab.
  • His determination in trying to find an elusive wild animal reminded Carl Fredricksen of Charles Muntz and his quest to find a legendary bird. Fredricksen finds Ahab's single-minded determination to the point of insanity to go after an animal to be eerily similar to that of Muntz' ordeal and would rather keep his distance from him, even if Ahab isn't as evil compared to Muntz despite Ahab wanting a whale dead as opposed to Muntz wanting to capture a bird.
  • Ahab found a bit in common with Kunkka, another seafarer with a rivalry against a sea creature, it being Tidehunter in Kunkka's case. Ahab found it a little strange that a sea creature would be the one to have an intense grudge against a seafarer rather than a grudge much like what Ahab is familiar with. Kunkka told Ahab that even if Tidehunter isn't part of Ahab's main goal, the Champion of the Sunken Isles is still someone that shouldn't be taken lightly givne his abilities.
  • Jean-Luc Picard has a few issues with Ahab, mostly because Ahab's revenge quest reminded Picard of what happened when hunting down the Borg. Whereas Ahab remained didn't really change at the end of the journey, Picard did for the better, even if Ahab's own quest was referenced by Picard that time. There's also the fact that others have claimed that Ahab bears some physical resemblance to Picard sometimes.
  • Maiev Shadowsong, despite having a similar level of revenge against Illidan Stormrage initially, isn't really fond of Ahab's quest to hunt down a whale. It's one thing to have a justifiable reason to have revenge, but Maiev finds no justification whatsoever for Ahab to go after what's essentially a wild animal over losing a leg.
  • At one point, Ahab was very close to reconsidering his revenge hunt against Moby Dick, but such a thing never came to be. This ended up disheartening a few deities, especially those who have given up on their revenge-driven mindset. Any additional attempts by others to try and, at the very least, make Ahab calm down to some degree haven't really worked out thus far.
  • There is one God that is Lord over the earth, and one Captain that is lord over the Pequod.

@ Diego Brando: Glasgow Grin is an alternate trope I'd think would work in case the current one doesn't, as his power causes this on him. Though I like what you're doing right now, just that I wonder if I'm impartial enough

@ fasoman: We also have plenty of people who have beaten eldritch abominations. That's what keeps the pantheon from being a nightmare hell

Anything more I should add to Pod?

Podrick Payne, God of Loyal Rookie Allies (Pod)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/b6a22f3ce2e13730f55001130234c91b.jpg
  • Votes: 3(Master Hero, Roku Alhazared, Muundeis)
  • Date of ascension: 13 July
  • House: Friends and Companions (House of Friendship)
  • Demigod
  • Symbol: House Payne's arms; purple and white chequy with gold coins in the checks
  • Alignment: Lawful Good
  • Portfolio: Adorkable Squire, Loser Has Your Back, The Quiet One, Fought In The Battle Of Blackwater At Twelve, Older In The Show And Really Good At Sex, Undying Loyalty, Bookworm, Smarter And More Skilled Than He Seems, Tag Along Kid
  • Domains: Squires, Loyalty, Friendship, Youth and Inexperience
  • Herald: Chloe O'Brien
  • Interests: The Lustful Acts and Lustful Behavior sub-houses
  • Allies: Tyrion Lannister and his friends, Oberyn Martell, Samwise Gangee, John Zoidberg, Riza Hawkeye, Neville Longbottom, Mario, Link and Commander Shepard, Luigi, Celestia Ralgris
  • Enemies: Tywin and Cersei Lannister, The Night King, The Brave Companions, Walder Frey
  • Opposes: The House of Betrayal
  • Opposed by: Steve Smith (one-sided on his end)
  • Podrick Payne is part of a lesser branch of House Payne, a distant cousin of royal executioner Illyn Payne. Originally squire to Ser Lorimer, Lorimer's hanging as a result of stealing some of Tywin's personal supply of hams led him to be saddled with Tyrion Lannister. Though naive and somewhat inept, he's got Tyrion's back and is one of the few who actually likes him.
  • A quiet and reserved boy, his awkwardness makes him somewhat endearing. Following Tyrion's arrest he was made Brienne's squire, who like Tyrion has faced prejudice through her life as neither are lookers and she's a female knight in a world where Stay in the Kitchen is a common sentiment. And he sticks by her all the same. He's glad to see Tyrion again in the show and in the pantheon.
  • Finds a lot in common with Neville Longbottom as they are both timid, awkward individuals who prove their heroism-Podrick fighting in the Battle of the Blackwater and against the Brave Companions, Neville against Voldemort's forces. Neville is impressed he's managed to last in the Crapsack World of Westeros.
  • Also seems to get along with John Zoidberg for sharing an awkward friend dynamic, and Samwise Gangee for being a down to earth individual like himself. He respects Riza Hawkeye for her friendship with Colonel Mustang and being a strong, capable female fighter and source of morality like Brienne is. Jack Bauer seems impressed at how he stood by Tyrion, just like how Chloe O'Brian stood by him.
  • 14 at most in the books, almost an adult in the show. Because of this age difference, Tyrion and Bronn were able to give him some money for a brothel. He ended up coming back with the money, apparently being so good at sex the prostitutes let him do it for free. Despite the fact he was a virgin-Tyrion's still wondering how the hell he did it. The gods in charge of or representing lust were amazed and want to know just how he did it. Steve Smith was incredibly jealous of Pod.
  • Naturally opposed to the House of Betrayal, both because of how Westeros sees Treachery Is a Special Kind of Evil and because of how loyal he is. Unsurprisingly he's against Walder Frey regardless of the Frey "alliance" with the Lannisters, though doesn't have many enemies outside of Westeros due to his reserved and amiable personality.
  • Because of the Battle of the Blackwater, he'd preferably stay as far away from Ragnaros and Brand as possible since their fiery destruction and pyromania reminds him of the chaos that was the use of wildfire. And while on good terms with Catelyn since he is helping out Brienne, Lady Stoneheart wants him dead for his allegiance to House Lannister.
  • Respects Mario, Link and Commander Shepard for their ability to gather some unusual friends to help save the day. He gets along with Luigi as well since he always stands by Mario, and Celestia Ralgris for attempting to protect Lux Arcadia even after a well-intentioned mistake caused her exile.
