    open/close all folders

    General
  • Beware the Nice Ones: The Cobbletowners and their monarchs are a friendly, tolerant bunch who welcome anyone into their kingdom, regardless of race. However, they aren't stupid, and they despise all forms of bigotry with a passion. This also applies to Cobbletown's beloved Firecrafters, who are kind, helpful, and adorable, but do not like being exploited and are quite willing to defend themselves. This is best shown in the "Talon Bàis War", where Cobbletown is one of many Free Dragon nations who retaliated against the Griffon kingdom of Talon Bàis and helped nuke it (and the surrounding region) to kingdom come, down to the last Griffon.
  • Delightful Dragon: Many good-natured Dragons have moved to Cobbletown and formed a local Dragonflight there, intrigued by both the town's benevolence and the idea of long-term gain that doesn't involve pillaging and terrorizing 'Tinies'. There's also the Cobbletown Pantheon, which was founded by a group of young, ambitious Dragons who came to learn the importance of friendship, altruism, and coexistence.
  • Expy: Cobbletown is based on the town setting featured in the tabletop game Flamecraft. It was also inspired by Randomfan11's previous experiences with participating in a fantasy-themed roleplay where much of the story's setting and characters are centered in a cosmopolitan town named "Cobbletown"; sadly, the roleplay was never finished due to Randomfan11 and her fellow roleplayers' waning interest in the story on top of having real-life commitments and issues to deal with (as well as a very nasty falling-out with one of the roleplayers).
  • Fantastic Racism: Defied. Cobbletown is one of the most notable exceptions to racial/tribal prejudice shown in the setting thus far, on account of being a cosmopolitan realm that began as a small, destitute village where two species helped each other prosper despite their differences. Hybrids are a celebrated part of the kingdom, and even Werecreatures and certain types of undead are welcomed. Hate crimes are met with harsh punishment, especially if they were committed willingly and unrepentantly. While the Cobbletowners do hate the Changeling Courts, it is mainly out of disgust towards their extremely racist mistreatment of Princess Apertus and her parents, as they do not blame those who were innocent or the Autumn Changelings who live in Cobbletown.
  • Good Is Not Soft: While they are welcoming and tolerant towards anyone who enters their kingdom, they harshly punish hate crimes, and they are willing to let evil deities and mortals test them so they can be better prepared for real threats, like packs of greedy and spiteful Dragons looking to burn and pillage Cobbletown. They also do not tolerate 'Destructive Evil' and persecute factions like Hydianites with extreme prejudice (save for those who are innocent and/or genuinely repentant). They're also willing to wage war to protect their citizens, both Dragon and non-Dragon, as shown in the 'Talon Bàis War' where they helped destroy the aforementioned kingdom in retaliation for their attempted genocide campaigns.
  • Interspecies Friendship: Cobbletown and the kingdom it would grow into is famous for its cosmopolitanism, starting with Ponies and Dragons co-existing, but later having the likes of Griffons, Diamond Dogs and even Changelings peacefully living together. The local Cobbletown Pantheon actually encourages this, as its founding Dragon members witnessed and experienced the consequences of bigotry firsthand and didn't want to repeat the mistakes of their kind.
  • Karmic Jackpot: Their staunch belief in friendship, altruism, and coexistence not only gave them powerful allies, but also saved their kingdom from destruction more than once.
    • Despite being under threat of being razed to the ground by the tyrannical Dragon Lord Isona and her pack, the Cobbletowners nonetheless welcomed her and treated her with genuine kindness. Isona, who was taught her entire life the complete opposite of friendship and kindness, was forced to reevaluate herself and her people, and realized they were monsters. While this led to Isona attempting to kill herself, it also led to her meeting Blacktip, who helped her overcome her Darkest Hour and pull a Heel–Face Turn.
    • Among others, the Cobbletowners would ally themselves with nations like the Terran Empire and the Principalities of Equestria. When the Griffon kingdom of Talon Bàis tried attacking their home out of anti-Dragon bigotry, both Terran and Equestrian forces rose up to defend Cobbletown.
  • Meaningful Name: To "cobble" is to roughly assemble or put together something using available parts and/or elements. Cobbletown is a cosmopolitan kingdom that is occupied by members of various races like Ponies, Changelings, Diamond Dogs, and even Dragons, but they all live in friendly and peaceful coexistence with each other. This also applies to the Cobbletown Pantheon, whose founding members are Dragons, but have since welcomed both Dragon and non-Dragon deities and demi-deities into their ranks.
  • Monster Town: Cobbletown started out with Ponies and Dragons deciding to coinhabit and work with each other to achieve prosperity, and by the modern day it is a cosmopolitan melting pot where even Witches and Undead creatures like Vampires are welcomed so long as they respect their neighbours and the laws of the kingdom.
  • The Power of Friendship: Both the Cobbletowners and the local namesake pantheon that watches over them are staunch believers in friendship, and are very welcoming to people from all races and walks of life. As a result, even the likes of Changelings and benevolent Undead peacefully coexist with each other. Their kindness is tempered by their hatred of bigotry and discrimination of all kinds, and their willingness to defend their beliefs in combat. Their beliefs also netted them powerful allies like the Terran Empire, the Church of the Stars, and the Principalities of Equestria; when genocidal Dragonslayers from Talon Bàis tried attacking them, Cobbletown's allies rose together to defend it.
  • Rags to Riches: A settlement-wide example. Thanks to a pack of young Dragons' Enlightened Self-Interest, Cobbletown went from a poverty-stricken village desperately ecking out a living into a prosperous cosmopolitan kingdom.
  • Riches to Rags: In-Universe, Codex Equus researchers have theorized that Cobbletown was actually prosperous long before the Dragons came, but a series of unfortunate events and circumstances left it extremely destitute.
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: Created by a joint-effort between the Cobbletown Pantheon with the spellcasters of Cobbletown long ago, the distinctive Firecrafters are sapient Dragon-Elemental hybrids who coexist peacefully with the other residents of Cobbletown and have both an ingrained natural inclination towards towards helping others as well as incredible talent in various fields to aid them in doing so. They are also incredibly adorable, partly by design so no one would feel threatened by their draconic appearances.

    King Charoite
The Dragon King of Cobbletown and the husband of Queen Mirrored Love.
  • Delightful Dragon: He's the Dragon King of Cobbletown, but he is also The Good King and is Happily Married to his Pony wife, Queen Mirrored Love. He is also the loving father of Crown-Prince Diamond Mirror.
  • The Good King: He's a co-ruler of Cobbletown, yet is a benevolent King and a loving father and husband.
  • Good Parents: He's the loving father of Crown-Prince Diamond Mirror.
  • Interspecies Romance: He's a Dragon King who is Happily Married to his wife Mirrored Love, a Pony Queen. Together, they sired a hybrid son, Crown-Prince Diamond Mirror.
  • Maligned Mixed Marriage: The fact that he married a Pony mare and sired a Dragon-Pony son with her is met with hatred and revulsion from racist bigots outside of Cobbletown and its allies.

    Queen Mirrored Love
The Pony Queen of Cobbletown and the wife of King Charoite.
  • Good Parents: She's the loving mother to Crown-Prince Diamond Mirror.
  • The High Queen: She's a co-ruler of Cobbletown, yet is a benevolent Queen and a loving wife and mother.
  • Interspecies Romance: She's a Pony Queen who is Happily Married to her husband Charoite, a Dragon King. Together, they sired a hybrid son, Crown-Prince Diamond Mirror.
  • Maligned Mixed Marriage: The fact that she married a Dragon and sired a Dragon-Pony son with him is met with hatred and revulsion from racist bigots outside of Cobbletown and its allies.

    Crown-Prince Diamond Mirror
The Crown-Prince of Cobbletown and the hybrid son of King Charoite and Queen Mirrored Love.
  • Child of Two Worlds: His father is a Dragon, whose kind are known for being arrogant, greedy, civilization-pillaging brutes, while his mother is a Pony, one of many 'Tiny' races that are often victims of Dragon rampages. Despite this his parents are a match made in heaven, and he himself is adored by all in Cobbletown due to their social/cultural acceptance of hybrids.
  • Hybrid Power: Implied. Being a Dragon-Pony hybrid means he has racial abilities inherited from both parents.
  • Universally Beloved Leader: The young crown-prince is positively adored in Cobbletown, mainly due to the kingdom's acceptance of hybrids.

Cobbletown Pantheon

    General
  • All-Loving Hero: Reconstructed. The Cobbletown Pantheon originated as a pack of young Dragons who evolved past their racial greed and ambition by learning about friendship, coexistence, and altruism while pulling the original Cobbletown out of poverty. While this made them look 'fake' in the eyes of many Dragons, their love and tolerance for everyone continues to stand strong thanks to the strength of their conviction and the number of allies they gained from it. However, they aren't stupid and are willing to give harsh punishments to those who willingly committed hate crimes without remorse. They also let 'constructive evil' forces test them and the people they watch over so all of them are prepared to fight real threats when the time comes.
  • Authority in Name Only: Zigzagged. Despite Cobbletown being ruled by a King and Queen, the Cobbletown Pantheon technically is the 'true' ruling authority by virtue of being a divine pantheon. However, while some members do have royal titles, all of them, including the Dragon members, refuse to establish themselves as sovereigns of Cobbletown because they see themselves as teachers and protectors akin to the Church of the Stars. Still, what they do holds weight and many Cobbletowners worship them out of gratitude for lifting their home out of poverty many years ago.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: The Cobbletown Pantheon love and accept anyone who want to live in Cobbletown, whether they are living creatures or part of the undead. They do not have mercy for those who willingly commit hate crimes, participate in 'Destructive Evil', or break Primeval Laws. They also do not like the majority of Dragonkind who indulge in their self-destructive tendencies to raze, pillage, and terrorize non-Dragon races. Several members of the Cobbletown Pantheon were revealed to have participated in Deireadh's sanction against the Talon Bàis Pantheon for breaking Primeval Laws.
  • Deity of Human Origin: The pack of Dragons who found the original Cobbletown and helped it grow would later Ascend to godhood as Ryujin under Prince Arcaniss' tutelage.
  • Delightful Dragon: The founding members of the Cobbletown Pantheon are a pack of benevolent Ryujin who helped bring Cobbletown out of poverty in their mortal youth, and later Ascended to godhood under Prince arcaniss' tutelage. They primarily serve as teachers and protectors, but despite technically being the 'true' rulers of Cobbletown, they refuse to become actual sovereigns since that is not their purpose.
  • Dragons Are Divine: The pack of young, ambitious Dragons that found the original Cobbletown in its destitute state would later Ascend to godhood as Ryujin under Prince Arcaniss' tutelage.
  • Enlightened Self-Interest: What initially compelled the young Dragons who found early Cobbletown to help out their residents: apart from pity over their poverty, by helping the town prosper they were making a long-term investment that would see them getting a share of the wealth the town would get in return. Prolonged assistance and involvement in both the affairs of Cobbletown and its people eventually turned this pragmatic profitmaking into genuine altruism and friendship.
  • From Zero to Hero: Cobbletown's local Ryujin went from a pack of young, ambitious Dragons wanting to earn some riches for themselves, to Ascendant deities and founders of a benevolent interracial pantheon.
  • Good Is Not Soft: They're a genuinely benevolent pantheon who preach the virtues of friendship, altruism, and peaceful coexistence, but they're harsh with those who committed hate crimes and are willing to kill their enemies if it'll protect their subjects. Seeral members were revealed to have participated in Deireadh's divine sanction against the Talon Bàis Pantheon for its crimes.
  • Good Needs Evil: Initially defied. The Cobbletown Pantheon's Dragon members didn't want to accept evil as a constructive force, believing that letting evil exist in Cobbletown would mean becoming arrogant, brutish, and greedy like many of their fellow Dragons. They eventually came around when Prince Arcaniss and other deities showed them what happens when people develop stagnant/puristic/destructive forms of good and eliminate evil altogether. This led to them accepting some of Temnobog's children and other 'constructively evil' deities into their pantheon, while the mortal followers of said deities moved into Cobbletown and caused crime and corruption levels to spike.
  • Internalized Categorism: This is part of the reason why the Cobbletown Pantheon's Dragon members didn't want to accept evil as a constructive force: If they let evil exist in Cobbletown, they would become no better than the arrogant, brutish, and greedy Dragonflights they left behind. They eventually got over this after Prince Arcaniss and other deities showed them the consequences of developing puristic views of evil and getting rid of it altogether.
  • Karmic Jackpot: A pack of young, ambitious Dragons found a poor, run-down town where its residents were desperately eking out a living. They initially decide to help the people out of pragmatism and greed, but over time, they learn the values of friendship, coexistence, and altruism, motivating them to turn the future Cobbletown into a place where all were welcomed, regardless of race. When Prince Arcaniss hears of it, he is so impressed that he takes in the entire Dragon pack and helps them all Ascend to godhood. This would lead to the founding of the Cobbletown Pantheon.
  • Only in It for the Money: Downplayed. The Dragon members of the Cobbletown Pantheon admit they were motivated by Enlightened Self-Interest to help bring Cobbletown out of poverty, though sympathy for the destitute Cobbletowners played a part in it, too. However, as they continued aiding and interacting with the local 'Tinies', they gradually started to like helping and cooperating with others, and made Cobbletown their permanent home.
  • Point of Divergence: If the Dragons didn't find the original Cobbletown or didn't have the heart to continue staying in the area, Cobbletown would have become like Abyssinian's Kludgetown, eventually disappearing from history altogether.
  • Tall Poppy Syndrome: The Cobbletown Pantheon's Ryujin members are looked upon with contempt, envy, and resentment by other Dragons who hate how their departed peers managed to gain monetary success via working with 'Tinies'. As a result, many wicked and/or traditionalist Dragons have launched attacks on Cobbletown out of greed and spite, which would intensify during the 'Draconic Reformation'.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: While they weren't completely without heart, the pack of Dragons who helped bring Cobbletown out of poverty was largely motivated by Enlightened Self-Interest. Working with the 'Tinies' their people looked down and mistreated so much caused the Dragons to genuinely like helping others, so they settled down in Cobbletown permanently. This would later lead to them becoming students of Prince Arcaniss, who helped them all Ascend to godhood.

King Dumortierite, the Spark of Altruism

Classification: Ethereal/Ascendant

Portfolio: Magic, Friendship, Altruism, Coexistence

Rank: Divine (Tier II/Lesser)

"Altruism is not a weakness, but a virtue that makes great things. How else would Cobbletown and its Firecrafters have come to being?"

King Dumortierite (his entry here) is the Ryujin god of Magic, Friendship, Altruism, and Coexistence, and is the leader of the Cobbletown Pantheon.
  • Abstract Apotheosis: He Ascended to demi-godhood by letting go of his grudge towards his former Dragonflight and learning the importance of forgiving people's differences and faults. He would later Ascend to true godhood by continuing to train under Arcaniss.
  • The Ageless: He is this by virtue of being a Dragon, as even mortal Dragons in the Codexverse get Stronger with Age. However, he could still get killed or injured. Becoming a Ryujin made him immortal in the sense that his divinity makes him much harder to kill.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: He's a Ryujin god who embodies Magic, Friendship, Altruism, and Coexistence.
  • The Archmage: Many people who know him call him the "Twilight Sparkle" of Dragonkind, and for good reason. Much like Twilight/Amicitia, he's a very intelligent Dragon who could weave his own spells and has a vast knowledge in arcane lore from years of studying. After Ascending as a god of Magic, he gained access to the combiend magics of all Dragon types; even though he's most skilled in Psychic Powers as a Jewel Dragon (specifically, a Dumortierite Dragon), he is currently studying other, ancient forms of Dragon magic to help Dragonkind evolve magically as a race. Even before Ascending, his innate magic was strong enough that he badly injured several Dragons from his own Dragonflight with a huge burst of arcane energy, an impressive feat considering Dragonkind's magic resistance and the fact that he was outnumbered. It is believed with time, he might be able to surpass Prince Arcaniss himself, something that Arcaniss looks forward to.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: He disarms the hostile and xenophobic King Aspen by asking, "...You know nothing beyond what you were taught, don't you?". Then, when Aspen accuses him of "[knowing] nothing about [him]", he responds by asking two more questions that leaves the Alvslog Deer King speechless:
King Dumortierite: [For] someone who genuinely cares about nature, how much do you care for the creatures beyond it? How much do you care knowing that, despite lots of evidence of sapientkind's selfishness and greed, there are others who are just as willing to care for and protect nature as you are?
  • Astral Projection: One of his Psychic Powers is astral projection.
  • Authority in Name Only: Zigzagged. As a divine King and leader of the Cobbletown Pantheon, he's technically the 'true' ruling authority of Cobbletown, but he refuses to establish himself as an actual sovereign because he mainly sees himself as a teacher and protector. In his eyes, both King Chaorite and Queen Mirrored Love, who he appointed to rule Cobbletown in the first place, are doing a good job at ruling. Still, what he does holds weight and many Cobbletowners worship him out of gratitude for lifting their home out of poverty many years ago.
  • Badass Teacher: He's a powerful Ryujin god of Magic and a magical prodigy who has the potential to surpass even Prince Arcaniss in terms of skill, talent, and power. He's also an open-minded and compassionate teacher who encourages his students to keep learning and cultivates in them the virtues of friendship, altruism, and peaceful coexistence.
  • Breath Weapon: As a Dumortierite Dragon, he can fire beams of psychic energy from his mouth similarly to Ruby Dragons.
  • Close to Home:
    • He despises sham trials because he sees them as an excuse for bigoted people to get innocents wrongfully convicted for opposing their beliefs. This stems from his youthful experiences where he was wrongfully convicted and exiled for bigoted reasons, despite the Dragons he badly injured being guilty of actual wrongdoing, with his own parents doing nothing to help him. He worked hard in ensuring that both Cobbletown and its local Dragonflight have a fair and impartial judicial system so no one would suffer like he did.
    • He despises reactionary and bigoted attitudes. This stems from his youthful experiences of witnessing and experiencing the horrific consequences of bigotry firsthand. While he sympathizes with those who were indoctrinated into following them like he was, he doesn't feel the same for those who choose to spread such things or harm and/or kill others out of genuine, malicious bigotry. As a result, those who willingly committed hate crimes with no remorse are harshly punished in Cobbletown.
    • Much like Twilight/Amictitia, he absolutely hates those who destroy people's friendships and altruistic desires out of bigotry and malice. This stems from losing his first 'Tiny' friends to cruel, greedy, proud, and xenophobic Dragon neighbors who saw 'Tinies' as nothing more than food and/or playthings. As a result, those who do such things receive the worst punishments, either from him or from Cobbletown's judicial system.
  • Cool Teacher: He's a charismatic individual who is quite good at sensing and encouraging people's positive traits, which makes him both a good leader and an effective teacher. He also sees nothing wrong with wanting to learn and encourages others to keep learning. And after learning (and relearning) the virtues of friendship, altruism, and coexistence, he seeks to cultivate them in others, even his fellow Dragons. Being a god of Altruism helps.
  • Delightful Dragon: He initially wasn't this in his youth by virtue of condoning his fellow Dragons' bigotry and constant raids on innocent 'Tiny' civilizations, even though he was merely an Insufferable Genius. However, after a series of events that made him learn (and relearn) the virtues of friendship, altruism, and coexistence, he came to realize his past bigotry was wrong. Now he's an open-minded and compassionate Dragon who welcomes all into Cobbletown.
  • A Dog Named "Dog": He's a Dumortierite Dragon, a type of Jewel Dragon, whose name is... Dumortierite.
  • Dragons Are Divine: He started out as a mortal Dumortierite Jewel Dragon who eventually Ascended to godhood under Prince Arcaniss' tutelage.
  • The Empath: As a god of Altruism, he has empathic powers that allow him to sense and encourage altruistic feelings in others. He can also project an aura that brings out people's positive traits, which works even for Dragons despite them having greed as a racial trait.
  • Enlightened Self-Interest: He initially only helped the Cobbletowners out of poverty so they could pay him back with arcane lore once they got rich enough, intending to live out his days as a hermit studying magic. However, his frequent interactions with 'Tinies' and his fellow Dragons gradually brought back his good sides, which went a long way in turning him into the compassionate and friendly Ryujin god he is today.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: During his sham trial, he learned to his utter heartbreak that his own parents were indirectly responsible for the deaths of his Pony friends, having notified the local Dragon Lord of his disappearances out of both genuine concern and unconscious bigotry. They also did nothing to help him while he was being convicted for his supposed 'crimes'. This understandably left him quite bitter and hateful towards them, until various benevolent deities taught him the importance of Forgiveness and influenced him to let it go.
  • Fantastic Racism: Deconstructed. While he never participated in his Dragonflight's crueler activities like pillaging 'Tiny' civilizations and terrorizing 'Tiny' non-Dragon races, he still condoned them and saw his people's bigoted, xenophobic attitudes as normal. Meeting a Pony named Magic Scroll and befriending them forced him to see that his bigotry is wrong, and losing his first friends to his cruel neighbors — as well as learning his parents' role in it and seeing them do nothing to help him during his sham trial — exposed him to how insidious and horrific bigotry can get. Though he was left deeply embittered and cynical for a time, he relearned the importance of friendship, altruism, and coexistence and became a champion of those values, opposing bigotry at every turn.
  • Freudian Excuse: Deconstructed. While he has sympathetic reasons for his behaviors, said behaviors turn out to be holding him back. It's only by letting go of them that he's able to Ascend.
    • He was initially bigoted like the majority of Dragonkind because he grew up in a very toxic and xenophobic environment. Even though he never participated in the pillages on 'Tiny' civilizations that Dragons are infamous for, he still condoned them and saw them as normal. Thanks to befriending a 'Tiny' Pony historian named Magic Scroll, he realizes that his beliefs were wrong. Losing his Pony friends to his cruel Dragon neighbors and being unfairly judged in a Kangaroo Court, though traumatizing, cemented his realization, turning him into a staunch opponent of all kinds of bigotry and discrimination.
    • He was emotionally distant towards the Dragons who would help co-found Cobbletown because at the time, he was grieving the deaths of his first friends at the claws of his cruel Dragon neighbors, and blamed himself for his inability to save them.
  • Fusion Dance: As a god of Coexistence, he notably shares the power to create fusions with Symvíosi, the Coexistence Primeval. He can fuse with his own friends to create new beings with unique powers, and he can do the same for others if they wished to. He can also use his fusion ability as a punishment by forcing racist individuals to fuse with each other until they learn to tolerate others. A flaw present in his fusions, however, is that they can be magically separated by (demi-)deities of Solitude and other similar concepts, such as Princess Sterling.
  • Geek Physiques: Due to prioritizing arcane research over physical combat unlike many Dragons, he was quite skinny. He bulked up somewhat after leaving home and becoming Arcaniss' student.
  • God Is Good: He's an intelligent, compassionate, and friendly Dragon who is The Good King for his pantheon and a staunch believer in The Power of Friendship. He's also a Cool Teacher who uses his charisma to bring out the best in his students and encourages them to keep on learning. That being said, he's a powerful Ryujin mage who won't suffer racism and bigotry in his presence, and is willing to harshly punish those who commit hate crimes.
  • God of Good: After realizing The Power of Friendship and letting go of his grudge towards the Dragons who hurt him so much, he Ascends and becomes a god of Magic, Friendship, Altruism, and Coexistence. Tellingly, his portfolio is very similar to Princess Twilight/Amicitia's, and he shares his domain of Coexistence with Symvíosi, the Coexistence Primeval.
  • Good Is Not Soft: He's a compassionate, friendly Dragon who loves studying magic and desires to teach others the virtues of friendship, altruism, and coexistence. He's also The Good King of the Cobbletown Pantheon and its namesake town, with his mortal subjects worshiping him out of gratitude for saving them from abject poverty. However, he despises bigotry and discrimination of all kinds, and has made it legal for hate crimes to be harshly punished in Cobbletown. He is also willing to kill if necessary, and has done so to the most bigoted and/or wicked Dragons during the 'Draconic Reformation'.
  • The Good King: He's the ruling King of the Cobbletown Pantheon, and he's a compassionate and friendly Ryujin who strives to be a good example for his mortal subjects, and desires to preach the virtues of friendship, altruism, and peaceful co-existence to all. He is very forgiving and wishes to protect people from being affected by racism and bigotry just as he was, including those who were indoctrinated by them. And whereas he studied magic and collected arcane lore purely for its own sake, he now does so to benefit Cobbletown. He prefers to solve problems peacefuly, but he won't hesitate to kill his foes to protect his subjects, and has done so to the most bigoted and/or wicked Dragons during the 'Draconic Reformation'.
  • Good Needs Evil: Defied at first. He was wary of letting evil exist in Cobbletown because he believed that doing so meant becoming arrogant, brutish, cruel, and greedy like many bigoted Dragons, including those of his former Dragonflight. He eventually relents after Prince Arcaniss and other deities showed him what happens when people develop stagnant/puristic/destructive forms of good in response to evil, and lets some of Temnobog's children and other 'constructively evil' deities join the Cobbletown Pantheon to test its namesake kingdom.
  • Heavenly Blue: As a Dumortierite Dragon, he has indigo-blue scales of various hues and shades, a light blue underside, and dark blue wings. He would later Ascend to godhood and become King of the Cobbletown Pantheon by realizing the importance of Forgiveness.
  • The Hermit: The cruelties of his Dragonflight and the betrayals of those close to him left him so deeply embittered that he originally planned to live in solitude, devoting his entire life to studying magic. Fortunately, prolonged interactions with the Cobbletowners and support from those who genuinely cared about him made him remember the lessons of friendship, altruism, and coexistence he learned with his first friends, influencing him to change his mind.
  • Immortality Begins at Twenty: Subverted. Because deities age differently in the Codexverse, he had to Ascend to demi-godhood first before moving on to true godhood. The fact that he was the first Cobbletown Dragon to do so made him the oldest of his friends by divine standards.
  • Ineffectual Loner: Due to growing up in a bigoted environment, he initially didn't put much stock in friendship and prioritized arcane research over socializing, until he befriended a Pony historian named Magic Scroll, giving him access to people capable of teaching him magic. He slipped into this again out of grief and guilt after his Pony friends, including Magic Scroll, were killed by cruel, greedy, and arrogant Dragons from his own Dragonflight, causing him to be emotionally distant to others . But after helping bring Cobbletown out of poverty and intermingling with its residents, he relearned the importance of friendship, convincing him to try again and becoming closer to the Dragons who would co-found the Cobbletown Pantheon with him as a result. This would later influence his Ascension, as he is given domains that ensured he would work and fight better when with others than if he was alone.
  • Insufferable Genius: He was initially this by virtue of preferring to study magic over socializing with others, even though it protected him from becoming as bad as his Draconic neighbors in his youth. This increased after losing his first friends to cruel, greedy, and arrogant Dragons from his own Dragonflight, causing him to believe that friendship was not worth the risks. While he chose to help bring Cobbletown out of poverty, it was only so the Cobbletowners could pay him back with arcane lore once they got rich enough, and he originally planned to live out his days studying magic in solitude. Thankfully, prolonged interactions with the Cobbletowners, receiving support from the Dragons who would become his friends, and being influenced by benevolent deities like Arcaniss helped him grow out of his insufferable tendencies.
  • Internalized Categorism: He was wary of accepting that Good Needs Evil, believing that doing so would mean becoming as arrogant, brutish, cruel, and greedy as his former Dragon neighbors. He eventually relented once Prince Arcaniss and other deities showed him what happens when people develop stagnant/puristic/destructive forms of good in response to evil, and let some of Temnobog's children and other 'constructively evil' deities join the Cobbletown Pantheon.
  • Interspecies Friendship: He has many non-Dragon friends thanks to his friendly personality and charisma, among them Princess Twilight/Amicitia and Blue Suede Heartstrings, both of them Alicorns. He befriended both of them, especially Blue Suede, whom he admired, due to sharing similar desires in opposing bigotry; he was enraged and saddened upon hearing that abuse from racist bigots contributed to Blue Suede's near-Fall (and happy when Blue Suede recovered).
  • Kangaroo Court: He was put on trial and exiled by his local Dragon Lord for badly injuring several members of his own Dragonflight, even though the affected parties brought it upon themselves by murdering his Pony friends out of greed, cruelty, and spite, provoking his furious retaliation. Even worse, his own parents were indirectly responsible for the deaths of his Pony friends and when he was convicted, they did nothing to help him during the trial. The incident later became one of his many sore spots, motivating him to ensure fair trials for everyone in Cobbletown so the people wouldn't go through the same experience as he did.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Invoked. As a god of Friendship, he can cast curses to punish those who break friendships and/or mistreat their own friends out of cruel, petty reasons.
  • Love Redeems: While he never participated in his Dragonflight's pillages of 'Tiny' kingdoms and civilizations, Dumortierite still condoned them and was racist towards 'Tinies' himself. This changed when he meets a Pony historian named Magic Scroll, who becomes one of his first friends and helps him see past his bigotry. Unfortunately, Dumortierite loses his friends when his own Dragonflight pillaged and destroyed the 'Tiny' Kingdom he frequently visited out of sheer cruelty, with Magic Scroll being among the casualties. He is traumatized so badly that he became emotionally aloof and distanced himself from everyone so he would never experience the pain of loss again.
  • The Magnificent: Known as "the Spark of Altruism", due to being a god of Altruism who encourages people to be more altruistic and kinder towards each other.
  • Magnetic Hero: Much like Twilight/Amicitia, he is a charismatic individual who is quite good at sensing and encouraging people's positive traits, which makes him both a good leader and an effective teacher. This gave the Cobbletown Pantheon lots of allies and members, and led to many other Dragons moving to Cobbletown as the Cobbletown Dragnflight. It's noted that being a god of Altruism helped in this.
  • Meaningful Name: He is named after dumortierite, a gemstone that helps people gain insight and nurture spiritual/psychic abilities.
  • Mind over Matter: One of his Psychic Powers is psionic telekinesis.
  • Mirror Character: Many people have compared him to Princess Twilight/Amicitia Sparkle, and rightfully so. They are both magical prodigies who once thought little of friendship and preferred to study magic, but spending time with others caused them to learn how important and rewarding friendship is. They also Ascended to godhood as deities of Magic and Friendship under the tutelage of benevolent deities, and became respected divine sovereigns (though Dumortierite doesn't see himself as such) who did everything they could to oppose bigotry and corruption of all kinds. The only main difference between them is that unlike Twilight/Amicitia, Dumortierite actually grew up in an extremely toxic environment that discouraged 'weakness', and lost his first friends to cruel and haughty bigots, which shaped his behavior and actions later on. Unsurprisingly, he and Twilight/Amicitia would become friends over each other's similarities, with Twilight/Amicitia later gifting him his own Magic Wand.
  • Moving Beyond Bereavement: Part of his character development involved moving on from his grief over Magic Scroll's death and the destruction of the 'Tiny' Pony kingdom he grew fond of. Under Arcaniss' tutelage, he eventually realized by continued to hate the Dragons who killed Magic Scroll, he was desecrating his friend's memory and Magic Scroll wouldn't have wanted him to live in bitterness. This partly factored into his first Ascension.
  • Never Be Hurt Again: A big reason why he was emotionally aloof to the Dragons who would co-found the Cobbletown Pantheon with him is because his first friends were 'Tinies' who were massacred, tormented, and eaten by cruel Dragons from his former Dragonflight. He was so traumatized by the event that he distanced himself from everyone, not wanting history to repeat itself. Fortunately, intermingling with the Cobbletowners and receiving support from everyone after opening up about his problems convinced him to try again, eventually leading to his Ascension as a god of Friendship.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: He's a Dumortierite Dragon, a type of Jewel Dragon with crystalline blue scales and racial abilities involving enhanced wisdom/intellect and Psychic Powers. His race is also where his name comes from. After Ascending to godhood, he became a Ryujin with related eldritch traits like crystal horns, scales made of dumortierite gems, back spines made of Magic energy, shiny wings, and a much bigger size compared to normal Dragons.
  • Our Gods Are Different: He's an 'Ascendant deity', described In-Universe as being one of the rarest of the three types of deities (the others being Elemental and Ethereal deities). He's also a Ryujin, specifically a mortal Dragon that managed to achieve apotheosis.
  • The Power of Friendship: He personally believes that friendship, altruism, and coexistence are not 'weaknesses' as some people think, but virtues that lead to great things, as he was able to redeem himself through his friendships with others. This later translated into a Friendship domain when he Ascended, giving him powers like empowering himself (and others) through his friendships, magically repairing and/or cutting friendship bonds, and curses to punish those who cruelly mistreated their friends and/or broke friendships. His domain of Coexistence also revolves around this to a degree, as he can perform Fusion Dances with others and help people overcome whatever that is preventing them from coexisting with others.
  • Psychic Link: As a god of Coexistence, his natural telepathy is enhanced to the point where he can create psychic links, which he can make permanent if he desired to.
  • Psychic Powers: Being a Dumortierite Dragon gives him a natural inclination for psionic magic similar to Ruby Dragons. After Ascending to godhood and becoming a god of Magic, his skill in psionics increased phenomenally. Among his powers are telekinesis, telepathy, Astral Projection, and precognition. His other domains also grant him a degree of psychic power, mostly telepathy and empathy. And like Ruby Dragons, he can fire beams of psychic energy form his mouth.
  • Purple Is Powerful: He has purple eyes, and he is a Dragon god of Magic and a powerful magical prodigy — so much that people started comparing him to Princess Twilight/Amicitia Sparkle.
  • Resistant to Magic: As a Dragon, he possesses his kind's natural magic resistance. This is very ironic considering that he's a god of Magic and a Dumortierite Dragon whose racial abilities includes a natural inclination for Psychic Powers.
  • Seers: One of his Psychic Powers is precognition. His Friendship domain both plays it straight and inverts it — he has a form of precognition that shows a person's potential friendships with others, and a form of retrocognition that shows a person's friendship history.
  • Semi-Divine: He became a demigod by realizing the importance of forgiving others for their flaws and mistakes if he is to truly promote friendship, altruism, and coexistence. He eventually Ascended to true godhood under Arcaniss' tutelage.
  • Super-Empowering: As a god of Friendship, he can empower himself and others through his friendships with them similarly to Twilight/Amicitia. This results in his spells being made much stronger than they normally would've been if he was alone.
  • Super-Intelligence: One racial ability he has as a Dumortierite Jewel Dragon is enhanced wisdom and intellect.
  • Surpassed the Teacher: Due to being a magical prodigy, he has been called the 'Twilight Sparkle' of Dragonkind, and it's believed by many that with time, he might potentially surpass his mentor, Prince Arcaniss, who himself is a talented god of Magic. Arcaniss looks forward to it and actively encourages it, since he wants Dragonkind overall to evolve magically as a race.
  • Survivor Guilt: He suffered from this following Magic Scroll's death and the Pony kingdom's destruction by his cruel Dragon neighbors, blaming himself for not being able to save both. It also understandably led to him holding a grudge against his own Dragonflight for both participating in and condoning the pillaging. Fortunately, his friends and mentor help him learn the importance of Forgiveness, and he is seeing various psychiatric deities in order to recover from his trauma.
  • Sympathy for the Devil: He pities King Aspen for going through the same circumstances as he did — starting out as an innocent youth who experienced horrible tragedies, then turned into a bigot by toxic people who held twisted ideals of what the 'perfect creature' should be. This leads to him imploring for Aspen to rethink his bigoted ways during their encounter in the Cosmic Convocation of Divine Sovereigns, despite being faced with Fantastic Racism from the latter.
  • Telepathy: One of his Psychic Powers is telepathy, which was enhanced when he became a god of Magic. His domains of Altruism and Coexistence also give him a degree of telepathy, with the former allowing him to detect and encourage altruism in others, and the latter allowing long-range telepathic communication and the creation of Psychic Links.
  • Top God: A "King of the Gods" example. He's the official King and leader of the Cobbletown Pantheon, which he co-founded with other Dragons who joined him in bringing Cobbletown out of abject poverty. His entry notes that his friends unanimously chose him for the position due to his experiences and good deeds, and despite feeling unworthy and undeserving of his title, he was assured that he won't be ruling alone.
  • Took a Level in Cynic: His failure to save his first friend, Magic Scroll, and the Pony kingdom he grew attached to from his own cruel Dragon neighbors left him extremely disillusioned and bitter. The fact that his own parents were indirectly responsible for his losses made things worse. Because of these experiences, he became distant and cold to everyone, believing friendship to be not worth pursuing in the long run, and desired to live as a hermit studying magic. Fortunately, a series of events, including finding Cobbletown and helping its residents out of poverty gradually convinced him to try again.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: He became bitter, disillusioned, and aloof following Magic Scroll's death and the destruction of the Pony kingdom he grew fond of at the claws of his cruel, greedy Dragon neighbors. While he chose to work with other Dragons to help lift Cobbletown out of poverty, he wasn't interested in making friends and planned to live out his days studying magic in solitude. However, prolonged interaction with his fellow Dragons, the Cobbletowners he helped, and others reawoke his kinder side, which went a long way in helping him Ascend.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Though initially bitter, disillusioned, and aloof, prolonged interactions with his fellow Dragons, the Cobbletowners he helped, and others made him relearn what it's like to experience friendship, altruism, and peaceful coexistence, influencing him to finally open up to his fellow Cobbletown Dragons and reveal his troubled history to them. He would later learn the importance of forgiveness from Prince Arcaniss, his mentor, and Meli’āki, making him realize that he had to be forgiving of other people's differences and flaws if he were to truly preach the virtues Cobbletown was founded upon.
  • True Companions: His relationship with the other Draconic co-founders of the Cobbletown Pantheon is this. Initially, he kept himself at arm's length from them due to being extremely disillusioned with friendship and not wanting to go through the pain of losing more friends. However, after opening up to them about his problems, he is met with genuine sympathy and support, after which he breaks down crying. This convinces him to have a second go at friendship, leading to the Dragons becoming close friends. When he Ascends to demi-godhood and shares insecurities over being crowned King of their pantheon, his friends assure him that he earned his position and they're all there to help him rule.
  • Underestimating Badassery: During the 'Draconic Reformation' event, he is confronted by a group of wicked/traditionlist Dragons from his former Dragonflight who assumed that his associations with 'Tinies' and beliefs in friendship made him a "pathetic little weakling". Unfortunately for them, he had already Ascended by this point, and he proceeds to wipe the floor with his foes easily by bombarding them with divine spells.
Dragon 1: Hehe, looks like the magic weirdo didn't learn his lesson after all.
Dragon 2: Yeah! First he's continued hanging around 'Tinies', and now he's preaching that lovey-dovey friendship nonsense to 'proper' Dragons like us. Disgusting!
Dragon 3: Indeed. Being exiled didn't make him tougher; it only turned him into a pathetic little weakling.
King Dumortierite: You're all wrong. I've gotten FAR stronger since I left.
Dragon 2: How? You're just a fake Dragon!
    King Dumortierite: THIS!
  • You Are Not Alone: At one point, he revealed his past history to his fellow Dragons to explain why he was emotionally distant to them. When the Dragons expressed genuine horror and sympathy in response and promised to support him no matter what, he was so moved by this that he broke down crying.
Howlite: We're sorry you went through that... No-Dragon should EVER go through that. Trust me, some of us speak from experience. If you ever need help, just call us up. We promise we'll be there for you, no matter what.
  • You Could Have Used Your Powers for Good!: Inverted. His bigoted Dragon neighbors believed his astounding magical talents were better used dominating 'Tiny' races and pillaging their civilizations, and did everything to ensure he became a 'proper' Dragon. Fortunately, he refused to listen and later devoted himself to using his magic for benevolent purposes.
  • Younger Than They Look: Due to being a Dragon, he ages differently than mortals. Because of this, he looks like an adult Dragon while he's actually quite young by his people's standards.

    Amberstone, the (WIP)

Classification: Ascendant

Portfolio: TBA

Rank: TBA

  • Everyone Has Standards: He/She was appalled by the extremely destitute state of the original Cobbletown, calling it a "dump". This partially fueled his/her desire to help bring Cobbletown out of poverty.

    Howlite, the Cyclean Reaper

Classification: Ascendant

Portfolio: Death, Cycles, Healing

Rank: TBA

"My name is Howlite, and I am a goddess of Death. One of my duties is to seek out and help troubled souls who were affected by the cycle of hatred and violence, so they can heal and move on from it."

Howlite (first introduced here) is the Ryujin goddess of Death, Cycles, and Healing, and is a benevolent member of the Cobbletown Pantheon.
  • The Ageless: She is this by virtue of being a Dragon, as even mortal Dragons in the Codexverse get Stronger with Age. However, she could still get killed or injured. Becoming a Ryujin made her immortal in the sense that her divinity makes her much harder to kill.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: She's a Ryujin goddess who embodies Death, Cycles, and Healing.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: She's a compassionate and easy-going goddess who believes in the power of Forgiveness, and seeks out victims of bigotry, violence, and abuse so she can help them overcome their trauma and move on. However, like her fellow Cobbletown Ryujin, she despises bigotry of all kinds and is genuinely enraged by those who perpetuate harmful cycles for bigoted, malicious reasons.
  • Close to Home: She despises bigotry of all kinds, and is genuinely enraged by those who perpetuate harmful cycles for bigoted, malicious reasons. This stems from both learning about the destructive Changeling-Dragon feud (among other things), and her own youthful experiences in desiring revenge for the massacre of her Dragonflight without considering both sides of the story.
  • Cycle of Revenge: Deconstructed. She originally intended to avenge her Dragonflight after much of it was massacred by 'Tiny' Dragon hunters, but later discovered the killers were survivors of raids launched by greedy, cruel, and prideful members of her own kind. This left her quite shaken, and under Prince Arcaniss' tutelage, she would learn the harm of desiring revenge to unfettered extremes via examples like the Changeling-Dragon feud. Realizing that Revenge Is Not Justice, she concludes the only way to properly deal with injustice is to forgive and deal with those who are genuinely wicked, leading to her Ascension. She would also become a joint-member of the Iustitian Pantheon so she can teach against creating harmful cycles.
  • Deity of Human Origin: She's a mortal Jewel Dragon who eventually Ascended to godhood under Prince Arcaniss' tutelage.
  • Delightful Dragon: Once she lets go of her grudge and Ascends, she becomes a compassionate and easy-going goddess who desires to help victims of bigotry, violence, and abuse overcome their trauma. As a result, she's highly revered and beloved among the Cobbletowners.
  • Don't Fear the Reaper: She's a compassionate and easy-going goddess of Death who desires to help victims of bigotry, violence, and abuse overcome their trauma so they can move on. However, it's not a good idea to piss her off.
  • Forgiveness: She personally believes that forgiveness is one of the most powerful tools in breaking harmful cycles, including the Cycle of Revenge. Realizing this in her mortal youth is what allowed her to Ascend.
  • God of the Dead: She's a goddess of Death, which gives her standard powers like weapons-summoning, soul manipulation, and shapeshifting. She was initially the only Death deity in the Cobbletown Pantheon, until other Death deities joined it so they can lessen the workload for her.
  • The Magnificent: Known as "the Cyclean Reaper", due to being a Ryujin goddess of Death, Cycles, and Healing who seeks to break Vicious Cycles by helping people overcome trauma, revenge, and grudges.
  • Meaningful Name: She's named after howlite, a gemstone that helps people let go of toxic attachments to things and promotes healthy grieving. She's a compassionate and easy-going goddess of Death who desires to help victims of bigotry, violence, and abuse overcome their trauma so they can move on.
  • Parental Abandonment: Her parents were among those of her Dragonflight who were massacred by an army of 'Tiny' Dragon hunters, effectively leaving her an orphan. This left her grief-stricken, angry, and bitter enough to try avenge her fallen family... only to discover to her shock that her parents' killers were survivors of raids launched by cruel, greedy, and prideful Dragons, making her feud with them a Cycle of Revenge. This shocked her to the core, and gradually influenced her to realize that ultimately, Revenge Is Not Justice and will only cause more harm for everyone. Letting go of her grudge is what allowed her to Ascend to godhood.
  • Revenge Is Not Justice: Her character arc involves her realizing that seeking revenge for any wrongs inflicted by the other party would only create harmful cycles and make everyone suffer, including herself.
  • A Shared Suffering: She sympathizes with Dumortierite over what he went through, having experienced loss herself, and assures him that You Are Not Alone.
  • You Are Not Alone: Upon learning why Dumortierite was keeping the group at arm's length, they come to sympathize with his troubles and assure him that he isn't alone in what he went through. This caused the grief-stricken Dumortierite to break down crying.
Howlite: We're sorry you went through that... No-Dragon should EVER go through that. Trust me, some of us speak from experience. If you ever need help, just call us up. We promise we'll be there for you, no matter what.
  • You Killed My Father: Deconstructed. Her goal in life was to avenge her Dragonflight, which was wiped out by an army of 'Tiny' Dragon hunters. However, when she learned their actions were in retaliation to what her people did to them, she was shocked to the point of Walking the Earth, trying to figure out what pushed people to commit such hateful acts against each other. After bringing Cobbletown out of poverty and becoming Prince Arcaniss' student, she would learn about the Cycle of Revenge that created the Changeling-Dragon feud (among other things), causing her to realize that desiring revenge would only lead to more harm, and the only way to break the cycle is to forgive and deal with those who are genuinely wicked. This allowed her to Ascend to godhood as the Ryujin goddess of Death, Cycles, and Healing.

    Blacktip, the Seeker of Knowledge

Classification: Ascendant/Ethereal

Portfolio: Nobility, Knowledge, Teaching, Desire

Rank: Demigod

"There is no greater treasure than friendships and knowledge. At least, that's what Arcaniss told me."

Blacktip (his entry here) is a demi-Ryujin of Nobility, Knowledge, Teaching, and Desire, and is an example of Dragons becoming heroes by breaking free of harmful mindsets.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Here, he's portrayed as an intelligent and good-hearted Dragon who hid his true self with masks in response to bigoted, anti-intellectual Dragons scorning him for wanting to become a scholar. He also suffered from self-loathing for being born a Dragon and initially believed that all Dragons are destined to be greedy, civilization-destroying savages.
  • Adaptational Backstory Change: He was bullied and scorned by his fellow Dragons for wanting to become an intellectual, and he grew up in an environment that promoted hypocritical, toxic, and bigoted teachings. This often forced him to hide his true self, even though deep down it made him absolutely miserable. He also had self-loathing issues that turned him into a Boomerang Bigot for a time, especially after learning from Prince Arcaniss that the Dragons were responsible for burning down the civilization of 'Amorea' and driving Changelingkind to near-extinction out of greed and cruelty. This wasn't apparent in the IDW comics he came from.
  • Adaptational Badass: In the IDW comics, he was just an ordinary Dragon who helped foil a Griffon Lord's plot to seize the land of Equestria. Here, he's a demi-Ryujin, the Dragon equivalent of a demigod, with powers based around teaching and passing on knowledge to others, as well as encouraging noble traits in others. He's also a decent fighter and very intelligent overall.
  • Adaptational Heroism: In the IDW comics, he helped Princess Twilight and the other bureaucrats foil a Griffon Lord's plot to seize Equestria's land, but only out of self-interest. Here, he's genuinely benevolent, kind, and heroic, though he hid it at first because of the toxic bigotry he grew up with and the scorn he received for not being a "real" Dragon.
  • Adaptational Intelligence: Here, he's shown to be more intelligent with a passion for learning. Notably, he flew out the window with Raven Inkwell and an important document because he correctly guessed that Princess Celestia and Lord Gestal might be somewhere else in the Convocation of Creatures, and decided to take a shortcut.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: In the IDW comics, he only helped Princess Twilight and the other bureaucrats foil a Griffon Lord's plot to seize Equestria's land because he learned the Dragonlands receive imports of gemstones from Equestria itself. Here, he's a genuinely kind and benevolent Dragon who enjoys learning, but hid it from others because of the scorn/abuse he received from bigoted Dragons.
  • All Your Powers Combined: His Ascension to godhood turned him into a Ryujin demigod, granting him the ability to wield enhanced versions of all the elemental magics possessed by various Dragon tribes, including air, lightning, and water.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: He's a demi-Ryujin god who embodies Nobility, Knowledge, Teaching, and Desire.
  • Bad Powers, Good People: Underneath his haughty, domineering, and greedy masks is a truly noble, intelligent, and heroic Dragon who loves learning. Unfortunately, a few 'darker' abilities offered by his domain of Knowledge include information omission and erasing certain information from people's minds. This understandably scared him when he found out.
  • Be Yourself: A major part of his development as a character involves learning how to be more comfortable with himself and his intellectual pursuits, instead of resorting to repression just to conform with a toxic, bigoted society.
  • Blow You Away: Post-Ascension, one elemental Dragon power he gained is air.
  • Boomerang Bigot: He was born a Dragon, yet he hated himself for it because of the toxic environment and beliefs he grew up with, which included being bullied for wanting to become an intellectual and having to hide his true self with masks in order to fit in. After learning from Prince Arcaniss the awful truth behind the 'Burning of Amorea' event and the Dragons' role in it, he fell into a period of depression and self-loathing, believing that all Dragons like him are destined to be good-for-nothing 'savages'. It's deconstructed as, while understandable, his beliefs are equally toxic because they include all Dragons, including good ones like Ember, and only contribute to the problem at large instead of stopping it. He later realizes this while globe-trotting with Urtica and hearing of Blue Suede Heartstrings' near fall, which motivates him to seek out help from Moon Ray Vaughoof, the Alicorn god of Forgiveness. With Moon Ray's help, he comes to terms with his hardships and his people's actions and lets go of his resentment, which triggers his Ascension to demi-godhood.
  • Breath Weapon: Like all Dragons, he has elemental breath; in his case he can breathe fire. After becoming a demi-Ryujin, he gained access to all versions of Dragonkind's elemental breath, such as air, lightning, and water. He can also teleport mail via fire breath like Spike can.
  • Canon Foreigner: As with Urtica, he's a character from the IDW comics (specifically the 'Convocation of the Creatures' issue) that was created outside the main show and then adopted into the Codexverse.
  • Cooldown Hug: He stops Sacred Swan's spiral into self-loathing and despair after her Heel Realization by gently helping her to her claws and giving her a comforting hug upon realizing she's going through the exact same thing that he did upon finding out about the Burning of Amorea.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: He was born in a toxic environment where Dragons favored strength over intelligence, so when he showed signs of the latter, he was scorned and bullied for being a 'fake' Dragon. Even his own parents were disappointed in him for not being more like them. Trying to fit in made him miserable, and while he did learn of the 'Burning of Amorea', the accounts he read were deliberately twisted to portray Dragonkind in a heroic light. He eventually ran away from home with King Bahamut's blessing, and things did turn up for him, but it's not until he became a student of Prince Arcanis that he learned the true reasons why Dragonkind pillaged Amorea, which for a time convinced him that Dragonkind is destined to be nothing more than a race of greedy, brutish savages.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: His name is Blacktip, and he has black horns, wings, and hair, as well as a black stripe on his snout. He's a benevolent and intelligent Dragon who is genuinely passionate about learning and teaching others, though he does have flaws of his own.
  • Death Glare: He glares at Fillydelphian Pony officer Hard Case for assuming Isona is the Dragon Town Slasher just because she's a Dragoness with a history of being a brutal tyrant, despite her having pulled a genuine Heel–Face Turn by this point.
Officer Hard Case: (stuttering) I... I don't understand... you were a...
Blacktip: (glaring) Tyrant? Yes, and that makes her a suspect?
  • Deity of Human Origin: He was originally a mortal Dragon who eventually Ascended to demi-godhood after seeking out Moon Ray Vaughoof and, with his help, forgiving the Dragons who mistreated him for being a 'fake' Dragon. He is currently learning how to Ascend to true godhood under Arcaniss' tutelage.
  • Delightful Dragon: Though he has his own flaws and issues, he's ultimately an intelligent and passionate Ryujin demigod who desires to become a teacher and scholar.
  • Didn't Think This Through: While he was correct to assume that Celestia and Lord Gestal might be somewhere else in the Convocation of Creatures and flew out the window with Raven Inkwell in tow, he reveals that he doesn't know what Celestia and Lord Gestal looks like and has to tell Raven to point them out for him.
  • Dragons Are Divine: He's a Ryujin demigod, which he became after seeking out Moon Ray Vaughoof and forgiving the Dragons who bullied and mistreated him for being a 'fake' Dragon.
  • The Empath: His domains of Nobility and Desire grant him empathic abilities that encourage nobility and desire in others. In his case, he can see others' desires take the form of magical flames that can be stoked or extinguished.
  • Faint in Shock: He promptly fainted upon learning he became the student of the ancient Ryujin, Prince Arcaniss, who is famously regarded as The Paragon among Dragonkind for his nobility and heroism.
  • Fantastic Racism: Averted. Despite Dragonkind's infamous anti-Changeling racism, he never bought into it and found their bigotry "tiring" to listen to. He did develop a fierce academic rivalry with Urtica, a New Changeling, but he never hated her and genuinely enjoyed interacting with someone who appreciated knowledge as much as he did. Urtica herself assumed he hated her because she read about the grudge between her people and Dragonkind, but he corrects her and points out he wouldn't have attended the Convocation of Creatures if he did.
  • Forgiveness:
    • After realizing during his travels that even Dragons could change and his resentment of his own kind is wrong, he sought out Moon Ray Vaughoof, who helped him come to terms with the hardships he suffered in his youth and let go of his resentment. As it turned out, letting go was what he needed to become a demi-Ryujin, which is what happened to Moon Ray himself three Ages before.
    • He forgives Sacred Swan for her incredibly racist anti-dragon tirade upon seeing she's come to realize how horrible her anti-dragon actions were and is genuinely repentant of them.
  • Freudian Excuse: All of his preexisting issues, such as his Inferiority Superiority Complex, his urges to hide his true self, his self-loathing, and his anger problems, stem from growing up in a society of Dragons full of bigotry and toxic standards of strength. Learning of the truth behind the 'Burning of Amorea' event from Prince Arcaniss just compounded these issues into outright nihilistic pessimism regarding Dragonkind's future. However, it's deconstructed, as these same issues turn out to be holding him back — his pessimism is just as closeminded and harmful since it only contributes to the problems plaguing Dragonkind, not stop it. As Twilight/Amicitia points out, his need to hide his true self only creates a Self-Fulfilling Prophecy where people will only assume he's like his greedy, cruel, and domineering kin since they don't know what he's truly like. And as he later notes to Dragon Lord Pyro II, if he didn't have a support network or seek out Moon Ray Vaughoof for help, he would have become as bad as Valefor.
  • God Is Good: Though he does have his issues and flaws, he's ultimately a nice, intelligent Dragon who desires to learn and be a teacher.
  • God of Good: He's a Ryujin demigod of Nobility, Knowledge, Teaching, Desire, all which pertain to his personality and desires to become a scholar.
  • Heroic BSoD: He was devastated when he learns from Arcaniss the truth behind the 'Burning of Amorea' event, which the Dragons caused out of greed and cruelty and made the Changelings obsessed with survival. Despite receiving support, he believed all Dragons were destined to be good-for-nothing 'savages', and traveled the world with Urtica to figure out what to do with his life. He later gets out of it by seeking out Moon Ray Vaughoof, who helps him let go of his resentment and forgive his people. His experience in this later influences him to comfort Sacred Swan, then a staunch anti-Dragon bigot, during her own Heroic BSoD as he understood exactly what it feels like to learn an Awful Truth about someone that was covered up.
  • Hidden Depths: Though not to his grandfather's extent, he knows how to do 'Fire Shaping', using his fire breath to create various shapes and patterns. After becoming Arcaniss' student, he would receive encouragement from the latter to expand on this ability.
  • Hidden Heart of Gold: Justified. He put up the facade of a typical domineering, greedy, and racist Dragon because when he was younger, he was constantly bullied by other Dragons for wanting to become an intellectual, seeing it as not 'proper' for a Dragon. Even his own parents, while not outright abusive, were disappointed in him for not following their kind's ways. It's deconstructed as being forced to hid his true self from others made him miserable and contributed to his overall self-loathing and resentment towards Dragonkind. Even after leaving Draconia, he felt the urge to put his facade back on whenever he felt threatened. Thankfully, his friends and mentor helped him overcome this, and he is receiving therapy for it.
  • Immortality Begins at Twenty: Subverted. Due to how deities age in the Codexverse, he's younger than Urtica by divine standards because she Ascended to demi-godhood first. He's also older than non-Ascendant Dragons like Isona, who's centuries old and bigger than him, by virtue of being a demigod.
  • Incorruptible Pure Pureness: His domain of Nobility allows him to resist spells and hexes that pertain to corruption and vice.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: He would befriend the centuries-older and larger ex-Dragon Lord Isona, whom he helped overcome her suicidal thoughts and guilt over her past as a monstrously wicked tyrant. Ironically, he is older than Isona by divine standards, as he's a Ryujin and Isona had not Ascended yet. This friendship would play a huge part in ending the Dragon Town Slasher's reign of terror.
  • Interspecies Friendship: He would make many friendships of this nature, which went a long way in bringing out his good side.
    • Blacktip's most prominent friend is Urtica, a female New Changeling who eventually Ascended to become a Royal Changeling. Despite their respective races being at each other's throats for millennia since the 'Burning of Amorea', both Blacktip and Urtica never developed their people's racial hatred and stayed very close friends even though they first started off as fierce academic rivals. Urtica also supported him during his Darkest Hour and accompanied him during his globe-trotting. Blacktip's friendship with a Changeling is what brought out his good traits and in part contributed to his Ascension to demi-godhood.
    • Besides Prince Arcaniss, his mentor, Blacktip's intellectual pursuits and personality has led him to those who shared similar domains and mindsets, such as Queen Ragionare (a Deinonychus Sauropod goddess), Prince Crimson Star (an Alicorn demigod), and other deities within the Church of the Stars. This also applies to Horwitz (a Yak) and Glenda (a Griffon), who he both met during the Convocation of Creatures.
    • In a huge irony, Blacktip would end up befriending Sacred Swan, a bigoted Griffon ambassador. While her anti-Dragon racism rubbed him the wrong way, Blacktip would quickly become one of Sacred Swan's greatest allies once she approached him tearful and repentant following her discovery of an Awful Truth concerning her kingdom's founding. Having previously experienced a similar situation, he would help her overcome her guilt and racism, and, following her kingdom's destruction, help her accept the loss of her home as well.
  • Internalized Categorism: Learning from Prince Arcaniss the truth behind the 'Burning of Amorea' turned his preexisting self-loathing into this, making him believe that all Dragons (including himself) are destined to be nothing more than "savages". Fortunately, he would overcome this thanks to his friends' support and Moon Ray Vaughoof teaching him the importance of Forgiveness, triggering his Ascension to demi-godhood. His experience with this would later help him help a despairing Sacred Swan out when she went through the same situation.
  • Karmic Jackpot:
    • He helped foil a revanchist Griffon Autorist plot to destroy an ancient document so they can seize much of Equestria's land and restore Griffonstone's former glory. This leads to him becoming a student of the famed Prince Arcaniss, causing him to faint from shock.
    • His Ascension to demi-godhood was triggered by a combination of positive factors like his friendship with Urtica, a New Changeling, globe-trotting, and seeking out Moon Ray Vaughoof so he can let go of his resentment of Dragonkind.
  • Keep Away: He participated in a game of keep-away with Twilight, Raven Inkwell, and a group of other historians/archivists/scribes to prevent an important treaty addendum from being destroyed by Lord Goldstone and his revanchist Griffon Autorist co-conspirators. It led to him flying Raven Inkwell into the glass window of a conference room occupied by then-Princess Celestia and Lord Gestal, saving Equestria and exposing Lord Goldstone's treachery in the process.
  • The Magnificent: Known as "the Seeker of Knowledge", due to being a demi-Ryujin of Knowledge who is passionate about learning and passing knowledge onto others who are willing to listen.
  • Making a Splash: Post-Ascension, one elemental Dragon power he gained is water.
  • Master of Illusion: As a demi-Ryujin of Desire, he can create illusions based on one’s desires. Arcaniss’ benevolent influence motivated him to use this power to teach the consequences of unfettered, malicious desires.
  • Mundane Utility: Like Spike, he can use his fire breath to teleport mail to people, like a living fax machine.
  • No-Sell: His domain of Nobility allows him to resist spells and hexes that pertain to corruption and vice.
  • No True Scotsman: Deconstructed. Many Dragons, up to including his own parents, mistreated and scorned him for not being a 'real' Dragon because he wanted to pursue intellectual goals instead of being domineering, greedy brutes like the majority of Dragonkind is — conveniently ignoring the fact that one of Dragonkind's creators is the intelligent Dragon King Bahamut. He later ran away from home with King Bahamut's blessing/encouragement, but then he discovered Dragonkind's role in 'The Burning of Amorea' and the near-extinction of Changelingkind, which emotionally broke him. All these factors turned him into a Boomerang Bigot who believed all Dragons, himself included, are destined to be good-for-nothing savages who burned, pillaged, and destroyed because they can.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: He notes that he and Sacred Swan are very similar, both learning an Awful Truth about their people that sent them into a Heroic BSoD, in his case Dragonkind's 'Burning of Amorea' while Swan learned her Fantastic Racism was based on a complete lie created by a genocidal mass-murderer. He proceeds to comfort her and help her through it because he knows exactly what she's going through.
  • Paying It Forward: Moon Ray Vaughoof helping him overcome his issues regarding Dragonkind later influenced him to befriend ex-Dragon Lord Isona through her own Darkest Hour, saving her from suicide and helping her overcome her guilt over her actions as a monstrous tyrant. Thanks to him, Isona made a genuine Heel–Face Turn, and would play a huge role in stopping the Dragon Town Slasher. It's also thanks to Moon Ray that he's able to help Sacred Swan, a formerly racist Griffon ambassador, overcome her own guilt and self-loathing towards her perceived association with her kingdom's founder.
  • Playing with Fire: Besides his fire breath, he gains the ability to cast fire-based spells after becoming Prince Arcaniss' student. He also has some knowledge in 'Fire Shaping', where a Dragon uses their fire breath to create various shapes and patterns, a skill that was passed down from his grandfather.
  • Point of Divergence:
    • He wouldn't have come to the realization that both his resentment and Boomerang Bigot feelings towards Dragonkind are wrong if he hadn't heard of Blue Suede Heartstrings snapping and nearly turning into a Fallen Alicorn during his globe-trotting.
    • This is later discussed with Dragon Lord Pyro II. Blacktip notes that if he hadn't met good people like Urtica, Moon Ray, and other benevolent Dragons like Arcaniss, he would have gone down a path of villainy that's similar to Valefor's.
Blacktip: [There] was a time I didn't want to be a Dragon, period. After learning of all the horrible things they did to others, including the Changelings, I was sure we were all destined to be nothing but savages.
Dragon Lord Pyro II: Yikes. That sounds like something Valefor would say.
      Blacktip: Ugh, really?
Dragon Lord Pyro II: Yeah. I recall him saying something about Dragonkind being destined to be nothing more than the 'beasts' Tiamat made us to be at one point.
Blacktip: Well, that makes me glad Urtica, Moon Ray, and good dragons like Arcaniss snapped ME out of my funk. I don't know where I'd be without them.
  • Politically Incorrect Hero: Downplayed. While he doesn't mean any malice, he is genuinely puzzled over how blind teachers, scholars, and academics like Prince Crimson Star and Prince Healing Song can still learn despite their disabilities.
Blacktip: No offense, but how do you learn or teach if you can't see?
Prince Healing Song: Oh, I get by with magic. And feeling around with my hooves.
    Blacktip: ...That’s it?
Prince Healing Song: Hehe, you’d be surprised by how fast and well creatures like me can adapt.
  • Reality Warper: As a demi-Ryujin of Desire, he possesses a degree of reality-warping powers. This includes things like the conjuration of certain things like wealth, or the power to take them away.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Subverted. He has red eyes like in canon, and he's a bigoted Dragon... except he really isn't. He's actually an intelligent Dragon who wants to learn and teach, but puts up a front to protect himself from ridicule over being "fake".
  • The Runaway: Of the "Abused Runaway" type. He wanted to become a scholar, but it led to him being mistreated and scorned by many Dragons, including his own parents. Dragon King Bahamut eventually noticed his misery and encouraged him to leave home so he can pursue his dreams elsewhere, which he did. The rest was history.
  • Self-Duplication: As a demi-Ryujin of Teaching, he can create magical doppelgangers of himself for multitasking. However, it can be taxing, and he can only create a certain number of doppelgangers before he runs out of energy.
  • Semi-Divine: He's a demigod like Urtica, making him an 'infant' by divine standards. Currently, he's learning how to Ascend to true godhood under Arcaniss while serving as a teacher and scholar for Dragonkind.
  • A Shared Suffering:
    • He ends up befriending Dragon Lord Pyro II, who was almost completely crushed by his discovery of himself being a son of Yamata no Orochi, having known what it's like to experience self-loathing for what they are due to circumstances beyond their control.
    • He also connected with Sacred Swan, a female Griffon ambassador from the kingdom of Talon Bàis and ironically an anti-Dragon bigot. Though Sacred Swan rubbed him the wrong way with her extremely racist tirade about Dragons being "savage beasts pretending to be civilized", he ends up comforting her after she discovered the extremely Awful Truth concerning her kingdom's founder, a heroic Dragonslayer who is actually a racist mass-murderer. Having been in the same situation before, he deeply understood Sacred Swan's mental anguish.
  • Shock and Awe: Post-Ascension, one elemental Dragon power he gained is lightning.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: When a Dragon of the Griffonian Dragonflight rebukes him for siding with "pathetic, lovey-dovey 'Tinies'" during the 'Griffonian Dragon Incursion', in response he calls them a "bully" who takes things for themselves without asking. Coincidentally, the Griffonian Dragon turned out to be a former neighbor who scorned him for his intellectual pursuits in his youth.
Griffonian Dragon: You're not a 'real' Dragon! Ditch those pathetic, lovey-dovey 'Tinies' and THEN I'll consider being friends!
Blacktip: You know what a 'real' Dragon doesn’t do?! Bully creatures weaker than them and take things away without asking!
  • Super-Empowering: As a demi-Ryujin of Desire, he can empower himself based on how much desire is present, usually good ones.
  • Super-Strength: While not to the degree of older Dragons, he's still incredibly strong by normal standards.
  • Super-Toughness: While not to the degree of older Dragons, he's still incredibly durable by normal standards. This allowed him to endure flying through windows trying to get Raven Inkwell to then-Princess Celestia and Lord Gestal.
  • Super Window Jump: After correctly guessing that Princess Celestia and Lord Gestal might be somewhere else in the Convocation of Creatures, he flies outside through a stained glass window to find them, taking with him both Raven Inkwell and an ancient document so they can give it to the aforementioned authority figures. Unfortunately, he didn't know what Celestia or Lord Gestal looked like, so he had to rely on Raven Inkwell to recognize them before Lord Goldstone's guards catch up with them.
  • Tail Slap: In physical combat, he can use his own tail as a whip to strike at enemies that are behind him.
  • Talking Down the Suicidal: He did this with Isona at some point, saving her from her attempt to kill herself by slitting her wrists and convincing her she could atone for her crimes.
  • Telepathy: His domains of Nobility and Desire grant him telepathic abilities that encourage nobility and desire in others. In his case, he can see others' desires take the form of magical flames that can be stoked or extinguished.
  • Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: He's much smaller than Isona, a centuries-old mortal Dragoness, but he's older than her by divine standards due to having Ascended to demi-godhood first.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: He once relied purely on brute strength and his fire-breathing like many of his kind did. Arcaniss rectified this by helping him refine his combat skills.
  • Why Couldn't You Be Different?: While not outright abusive, his parents were disappointed in him for not following the ways of their people — that is, being domineering and greedy brutes whose strength made them 'superior' to 'Tiny' races. It's deconstructed as this contributed to his present issues regarding his desires and self-image.
  • Younger Than They Look: His entry notes that because Dragons age differently, he looks like an adult to many, but is still rather young by his people's standards.
  • Your Heart's Desire: Invoked. His domain of Desire revolves around encouraging and manipulating the desires of others, such as illusions and reality-warping, the latter which allows him to conjure or destroy desired things like wealth.

    Urtica, the Young Historian

Classification: Ethereal/Ascendant

Portfolio: Knowledge, History, Intelligence

Rank: Demigod

"Um... I don't want to rule anything. I just- I just want to teach every-creature the wonders of history. That's all!"

Urtica (her entry here) is a young Changeling demigoddess of Knowledge, History, and Intelligence, and has a lot of nascent potential despite her youth and unassuming personality.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Here, she was bullied by other young Changelings for being shy, having a stutter, and wanting to become a historian despite Changelingkind's reputation for secrecy, which led to her becoming a Shrinking Violet by the time she meets Princess Twilight in the Convocation of Creatures. This wasn't apparent in the comics.
  • Adaptational Backstory Change: In canon, she was just a Changeling bureaucrat from Thorax's Hive who was really excited to see Princess Twilight, given the latter's heroic reputation. Here, she's an aspiring historian and Shrinking Violet who idolized Princess Twilight/Amicitia and was bullied by other young Changelings. When she meets Twilight/Amicitia in person during the 'Convocation of Creatures' event, she was super excited to meet her idol.
  • Adaptational Badass: In the comics, she's an ordinary Changeling librarian from Thorax's Hive who helps Princess Twilight protect an ancient document addendum from a treacherous Griffon Lord. Here, her actions combined with being in the presence of multiple deities during a public ceremony celebrating said actions led to her Ascension to demi-godhood. She also neutralized a surprise assassination attempt on herself by dropping an entire library's worth of books on her attackers.
  • Adaptational Intelligence: She's noted to be extremely intelligent, and becoming a demigoddess of Knowledge, History, and Intelligence enhanced her natural intelligence to the point where she could rival some of the younger Changeling Queens. This wasn't apparent in the IDW comics.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: She's a young Royal Changeling demigoddess who embodies Knowledge, History, and Intelligence.
  • Badass Adorable: Many people note In-Universe that she's very easy to befriend because she's adorable. She's also a Royal Changeling who, despite her inexperience, has a lot of potential that many deities want to see fulfilled, and was responsible for helping expose a treacherous Griffon Lord's ties to revanchist Autorist factions. She also subdued some would-be assassins by dropping an entire library's worth of books on them.
  • Badass Bookworm: Pre-Ascension, she helped Princess Twilight and other historians/archivists/scribes save Equestria from losing much of its land to the Griffons via an ancient deal, as well as expose the treachery of an Autorist Griffon Lord. Post-Ascension, while she's a very inexperienced Royal Changeling, it's clear she has a lot of potential, and once neutralized some would-be assassins by dropping an entire library's worth of books onto them.
  • Bad Powers, Good People: Her Knowledge domain gives her abilities like omitting information and making people forget what they learned. Understandably, she refuses to use said abilities after learning about them.
  • Canon Foreigner: She's a character from the IDW comics (specifically the 'Convocation of the Creatures' issue) that was created outside the main show and then adopted into the Codexverse.
  • Color Motif: Green. Parts of her body are different shades of green (light green wings, forest green carapace, and aqua-green exoskeleton). Green represents growth, adaptability, and kindness — Urtica's a sweet and adorable Changeling who's easy to befriend because of her adorableness, and despite her Shrinking Violet tendencies, she was able to become a Changeling demigoddess in part thanks to the encouragement she received from those around her. But Green also stands for inexperience — despite her newfound power, Urtica is very inexperienced by Royal Changeling standards and has little to no combat experience.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: When she was younger, she was bullied by other young Changelings for being shy, having a stutter, and wanting to become a historian in defiance of Changelingkind's reputation for secrecy. By the time she meets Princess Twilight in the Convocation of Creatures, she has become a Shrinking Violet.
  • Deity of Human Origin: She started out as a mortal Autumn Changeling of King/High Prince Thorax's hive. A series of events at the Convocation of Creatures would lead to her Ascending to godhood, thanks to her being surrounded by multiple deities and receiving praise from them for her heroics when it happened.
  • Faint in Shock:
    • During a public ceremony that celebrated her actions in exposing a Griffon Lord's treachery and Autorist ties, the sheer amount of love and other positive emotions displayed by the adoring crowds transformed her and caused her to Ascend to demi-godhood. She proceeded to faint from the sheer shock of it all.
    • Later, she would faint again when Prince Caerulus Melodia met her and revealed that her heroics were adapted as a comic book.
  • Fantastic Racism: Averted. She expected Blacktip to hate her on account of the racial grudge between Dragonkind and Changelingkind, but Blacktip reveals his true colors by expressing his distaste for his people's toxic bigotry. Other than that, she herself never hated Blacktip for being a Dragon and even befriended him, which played a role in his eventual Ascension to demi-godhood.
Urtica: ...You-You don't hate me? But... I thought... I read that-that all Dragons-
Blacktip: Correction: Not ALL Dragons. I came here with a Dragon envoy led by Ember, and trust me, if I hated the Changelings, I wouldn't have come. Besides, for some-Dragon like me, all that 'Dragons are better' rhetoric I keep hearing at home gets tiring REALLY fast.
  • Hero-Worshipper: She idolized Princess Twilight/Amicitia Sparkle for becoming a legendary heroine despite her bookish personality, and wanted to be great like her, too. Meeting and receiving words of encouragement from Twilight during the 'Convocation of Creatures' event was what in part influenced her to come out of her shell and do great things herself, leading to her own Ascension.
  • Humble Goal: Despite being a Royal Changeling, she's utterly disinterested in ruling a Hive of her own. Instead, she seeks scholarly pursuits, with her end goal becoming a historian, archivist, or a History Professor.
  • Humble Hero: She sees her act of saving Equestria from revanchist Griffon Autorists as 'doing the right thing', and doesn't want to rule a Hive like other Royal Changelings, instead pursuing a Humble Goal like becoming a historian, archivist, or possibly a History Professor.
  • Interspecies Friendship:
    • During the 'Convocation of the Creatures' event, she befriended fellow historians, archivists, and other academics like Professor Horwitz (a Yak), Glenda (a Griffon), and Blacktip (a Dragon). Blacktip in particular is noted to be rather unusual because he's a Dragon who's friends with a Changeling, whose races are known for being deeply racist and vindictive towards each other. While she and Blacktip shared a fierce rivalry, it's only as fellow academics and they mellowed out over time aside from passionate debating. And when Blacktip decided to travel the world during a low point in his life, she followed him as his travel buddy. It's noted their friendship brought out Blacktip's positive traits and indirectly played a role in helping him Ascend to demi-godhood himself.
    • She's also friends with a few Alicorns like Prince Crimson Star, Princess Nete, Prince Crystal Clear, Prince Shamrock, and Princess Twilight/Amicitia. Twilight/Amicitia in particular is her idol, while Princes Crystal Clear and Shamrock are not academics like her, yet they still befriended her anyway due to sharing similar struggles with their own shyness.
    • She also became friends with the Raptor goddess Queen Ragionare and Jasper, a Terran Abyssinian. In the former's case, Ragionare shares similar domains and intellectual pursuits, her domain of Learning from the Past being related to History. In the latter's case, Jasper is a mortal historian whose pursuits align with Urtica's.
  • Karmic Jackpot:
    • She helped Princess Twilight/Amicitia protect an ancient, important document from being destroyed by Lord Goldstone, a treacherous Griffon Lord with revanchist Autorist ties. Not only was Equestria saved from being seized by the Griffons, but she was publicly rewarded for her heroism by both mortals and deities alike, which led to her becoming a Royal Changeling due to ingesting a massive amount of positive emotions. This made her the subject of praise and attention from benevolent deities, who are interested in helping her Ascend to true godhood, and impressed both Empress Blackrose and Emperor Blackthorn enough to send agents to protect her from reactionary Changelings who want her dead.
    • She befriended Blacktip, then a young male mortal Dragon and fellow academic, and didn't share her people's Fantastic Racism against Dragonkind. When Blacktip entered a low point in his life, she supported him and became his travel buddy when he decided to take up globe-trotting to understand Dragon Lord Ember's advice. This brings out Blacktip's positive traits, which indirectly plays a role in his Ascension to godhood when, with Moon Ray Vaughoof's help, he comes to terms with the hardships he suffered in his youth and forgives Dragonkind for mistreating him.
  • Keep Away: She participated in a game of keep-away with Twilight, Raven Inkwell, and a group of other historians/archivists/scribes to prevent an important treaty addendum from being destroyed by Lord Goldstone and his revanchist Griffon Autorist co-conspirators. It later led to Raven being flown by Blacktip into the glass window of a conference room occupied by then-Princess Celestia and Lord Gestal, saving Equestria and exposing Lord Goldstone's treachery in the process.
  • The Knights Who Say "Squee!": Despite being a Royal Changeling now, she still very much admires Princess Twilight/Amicitia for her intelligent and heroic qualities, and always had since grubhood.
  • Large and in Charge: Subverted. Becoming a Royal Changeling made her grow taller than the average Changeling, but she's disinterested in ruling a Hive, instead wanting to become a historian and/or archivist.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Her Knowledge domain gives her the ability to omit information and make people forget what they learned. She refuses to use said abilities after learning about them.
  • Light Is Good: Before her Ascension, she wore a white turtleneck sweater. She's a sweethearted and adorable New Changeling with not a mean bone in her body, and this didn't change much post-Ascension.
  • Magic Hair: After becoming a Changeling demigoddess, she gained a translucent mane made of Knowledge energy.
  • The Magnificent: Known as "the Young Historian", due to being an aspiring historian who now embodies History, and a nascent Royal Changeling who is 'young' by divine standards.
  • Morality Pet: Her act of befriending Blacktip, a young Dragon scribe, brought out his kinder traits and in part helped him realize that his Boomerang Bigot feelings towards Dragonkind are wrong. As it turned out, having a positive influence in his life is what prevented Blacktip from becoming a genocidal maniac like Dr. Toxikon, who in his rage and grief tried to wipe out both Changelingkind and Dragonkind, save for those who didn't follow their respective people's toxic mindsets.
  • Mind over Matter: She has telekinetic abilities thanks to her domain of Intelligence.
  • Nice Guy: Gender-inverted. She's described as a sweethearted and adorable Royal Changeling who is intelligent and humble, with her only flaws being her opinionated tendencies, shyness, and perpetual stutter. Many deities and mortals have found her easy to befriend because she's adorable.
  • Odd Friendship:
    • Her friendship with Prince Crystal Clear, Blue Suede/Caerulus' adoptive son, is seen as odd In-Universe due being of different races and personalities. However, it's only on the surface, as Crystal was once a Shrinking Violet himself as a colt and still suffers from Performance Anxiety.
    • The same thing can apply to her friendship with Prince Shamrock, who is not an academic like she is but still befriended her nonetheless. Urtica sympathizes with him for still having a stutter after Ascending.
  • Point of Divergence:
    • Had she not followed Twilight/Amicitia's suggestion to participate in the Convocation of Creatures despite her Shrinking Violet tendencies, she would not have gained the information needed for Professor Horwitz to find an addendum document that confirms the Ponies' debt to the Griffons was paid, dooming much of Equestria to be seized by Griffonstone (especially its revanchist Autorist factions).
    • If she hadn't befriended Blacktip, he likely would not have come to terms with the hardships he suffered because of his people, or forgiven Dragonkind for mistreating and scorning him for wanting to become an intellectual. He also likely would not have become a demigod like she did.
  • Psychic Powers: Her Intelligence domain gives her some degree of psychic abilities such as telepathy, telekinesis, and teleportation. Her History domain gives her psychometry.
  • Psychometry: Her History domain gives her psychometric abilities in which she can gain information about objects/people via touch.
  • Semi-Divine: As a Royal Changeling, she's a demigoddess by default. However, as is the case with Thorax, her potential and heroism has made many deities interested in helping her Ascend to true godhood, something that no other Royal Changeling has done before.
  • So Proud of You: Both she and Moon Ray Vaughoof were extremely proud of Blacktip for Ascending to demi-godhood, just by letting go of his resentment towards Dragonkind.
  • Speech Impediment: She was born with a chronic stutter that in part contributed to her grubhood bullying, and even after Ascending to demi-godhood, it never went away. She sympathizes with Prince Shamrock Bloom for still having his stutter post-Ascension.
  • Telepathy: She has telepathic abilities thanks to her domain of Intelligence.
  • Teleportation: She has teleportation abilities thanks to her domain of Intelligence.
  • Throw the Book at Them: Her entry notes that due to being an aspiring historian and a newly-Ascended Royal Changeling, she has little to no physical combat experience. One of her (few) options is to throw books at her enemies... which is how she ended up neutralizing a surprise assassination attempt on her life by dropping an entire library's worth of books on them.
Princess Amicitia Sparkle Equestria: Never underestimate what a clever Changeling could do with only what little they have.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: As a Changeling, she has her people's shapeshifting abilities, but they're much more potent due to being a New Changeling. After becoming a Royal Changeling demigoddess, she can cast shapeshifting-based spells on a greater and larger scale due to her magic being increased by her Ascension.
  • Walking the Earth: She became Blacktip's travel buddy when he decided to travel the world to make sense of Ember's advice. It's implied that this in part contributed to Blacktip's eventual Ascension to demi-godhood.

Ambassador Sacred Swan/Sacred Swan, the Truthful Ambassador

Classification: Ascendant/Ethereal

Portfolio: Truth, Diplomats, Hatred, Coexistence

Rank: Demigod

Affiliation: Cobbletown Pantheon (main), Frieden Pantheon

Sacred Swan (her entries here and here) is the Swan Griffon demigoddess of Truth, Diplomats, Hatred, and Coexistence, and is a formerly racist Griffon ambassador who uncovered the Awful Truth about her homeland and eventually repented, defecting to Cobbletown and becoming a genuine 'Sapient Rights' activist.
  • Alliterative Name: Sacred Swan.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: After training under Prince Sermo Machina for many years, she becomes a Celestial Griffon demigoddess who embodies Truth, Diplomats, Hatred, and Coexistence.
  • Awful Truth: Her situation essentially consists of her discovering that her beloved homeland was founded entirely on genocide and racism, which was covered up by higher authorities. In the ensuing social/cultural divide, she and others who learned the truth are branded as heretics, forcing them to flee and seek asylum in another kingdom. Then she loses her old homeland permanently when various kingdoms and allied nations destroy it in a war, though she comes to accept her loss with help from her friend, Blacktip.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: She started searching for truths about her kingdom's founder, Gael, with the intention to support her anti-Dragon rhethoric. Gamall/High Queen Kunnusta gives her exactly that, but the truth she discovered isn't exactly a pleasant one.
  • Biblical Motifs: According to her creator, she was written with intentional symbolism to Saint Paul.
  • Break the Haughty: It's noted she used to be very haughty, racist, and self-rightous...until she discovered the Awful Truth of her kindom's founding and Gael's true nature. This discovery utterly breaks her, heaving her a sobbing wreck who can only tearfully beg Blacktip for forgiveness for what she did.
  • Broken Pedestal: Following her eviction from a diplomatic conference, she discovered through research that her kingdom's founder was a racist bigot who murdered an innocent Dragonflight and demonized his victims as savage beasts. She was so devastated by this that she approached Blacktip and broke down sobbing in his claws, begging for his forgiveness. Later, she and others who learned the truth would flee to Cobbletown after being branded as heretics by their hardline neighbors, and would play a role in its utter victory over her former kingdom.
  • Broken Tears: Learning Gael's true nature and thus having a Heel Realization over her own actions utterly breaks her, leaving her a sobbing wreck. Even once Blacktip calms her down, she couldn't stop crying due to the sheer anguish she's going through.
  • Eats Babies: Averted. Despite knowing of Draco-Balut and how it was made from unborn Dragon babies, she never ate them herself, but nonetheless condoned the practice because of her racism. She eventually realizes how horrible it actually is following her discovery of Gael's true character and publishes her findings, causing the world (especially the Dragons) to explode with outrage.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: On the receiving end from her former country-griffons. She used to be one of their star diplomats and a well-respected purveyor of their ideology and beliefs. Then she learned and published the Awful Truth about Gael, the founder of Talon Bàis, which caused a massive uproar in and out of the country. She was eventually branded as a traitor and a heretic by the fanatical Police State that rose to power, forcing her and other likeminded Talon Bàisians to flee elsewhere for asylum.
  • Excrement Statement: It's implied, to vent her resentment and anger over being branded a heretic for speaking the truth, that she did something... indecent on one of Gael's toppled statues. A Griffon Death god later admitting to making Gael's spirit watch her doing it.
  • Fantastic Racism: Deconstructed. Despite being an ambassador, she became incredibly racist herself due to growing up in an environment with strong anti-Dragon racism, and saw all Dragons as less than sapient. This leads to her launching an extremely racist tirade about Dragons being "savage beasts pretending to be civilized" during a diplomatic meeting, enraging the Dragon representatives there (including an attending Blacktip) and getting herself evicted. However, after doing research on her kingdom's history, she discovers her beliefs were based on a complete lie, which devastates her so much that she visits Blacktip's apartment and tearfully begs for his forgiveness. She also flees to Cobbletown along with those who also learned the truth, after which she would play a role in her former kingdom's destruction. At one point, she believed her racism made her guilty of the crimes committed by her kingdom's founder by association, but Blacktip would assure her she's not responsible for what happened and the only thing she's guilty of was simply being racist.
  • Former Bigot: Like the huge majority of her kingdom, she was incredibly racist towards Dragons, treating them like animals and using her ambassador position to encourage the systemic dehumanization and persecution of Dragons in other allied kingdoms. Then she gets kicked out of a diplomatic conference for her racism, which leads to her discovering an Awful Truth about her kingdom's founder whom she idolized up to that point. Her discovery drove her and others to seek asylum in Cobbletown after they were declared heretics by her kingdom's new fanatical government, and her knowledge played a small yet critical role in her kingdom's destruction. She is now an activist who advocates for sapient rights for all, though her previous actions have left her with a Guilt Complex that hasn't entirely gone away.
  • Foul Waterfowl: She's a Swan Griffon, but was an incredibly racist bigot who abused her ambassador position to encourage the systemic dehumanization and persecution of Dragons, seeing them as little more than savage beasts to be curbed. Once she discovers the horrible truth about her kingdom's heroic founder, she renounces her racism and becomes a sapient rights activist to atone for her previous actions.
  • Godhood Seeker: A positive example. Wanting to atone for her racism and condoning the atrocities committed against Dragonkind by Gael and the Talon Bàis Pantheon, she approached Prince Sermo Machina with a request to help her Ascend, so everyone will learn how ugly and horrific racism of all kinds can be if allowed to fester for so long. Sermo accepts her request, impressed by her honesty and sincerity, and she eventually becomes a Celestial Griffon demigoddess after many years of training.
  • God Was My Co-Pilot: It turns out Gamall, the griffon who helps her find Gael's journel, was actually the reformed High Queen Kunnusta all along.]]
  • Heel–Face Turn: Learning the Awful Truth of her kingdom’s founder and origins of their infamous racism causes one of these for Sacred Swan.
  • Hot-Blooded: She's noted to have anger problems and will lose her temper if pushed too far. She's also sometimes prone to swearing because of it. Blacktip and others are trying to help her deal with this, however.
  • Internalized Categorism: Learning the Awful Truth of the founding of her kingdom broke her, to the point of seeing herself as a monster on par with Gael just for idolizing him and endorsing the anti-Dragon racism he instilled in her people. Blacktip would forgive her and help her realize she was only guilty of her own racism, not Gael's crimes, though her guilt would never truly leave her.
  • Interspecies Friendship: She ends up befriending Blacktip, an Ascendant Dragon demigod, of all people. This is because she was previously a racist ambassador who saw Dragons as "savage beasts", but discovered to her horror that her beliefs were based on lies her kingdom's founder created out of sheer hatred for Dragonkind. Blacktip, for his part, was willing to forgive her on account of her genuine remorse and how her discoveries affected her mentally and emotionally.
  • Minor Crime Reveals Major Plot: She got kicked out of a diplomatic conference for violating diplomatic protocols with her extremely racist behavior. She starts researching her kingdom's history out of desire to support her anti-Dragon racism, and discovers that her kingdom was founded on complete lies — her kingdom's founder was not a noble warrior who saved his people from rampaging Dragons a racist mass-murderer who targeted innocent Dragons out of sheer hatred for them. Her discovery creates a fall-out so bad that her kingdom is reduced to rubble by the end of it, thanks to divine and mortal retaliation.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: She is horrified to learn that Gael was actually a racist mass-murderer who portrayed himself as a hero, and that both she and her people were unwittingly supporting his actions. The truth affects her so much that she pukes up everything in the bathroom. When she meets Blacktip afterwards to apologize for her previous racist behavior, he is shocked to see her changed from a haughty, racist ambassador to an emotional wreck with a huge guilt complex pretty much overnight.
Sacred Swan: (after learning Gael's journal and discovering he was Evil All Along) What have I done? NOTUS AND BOREAS, WHAT HAVE I DONE?!
  • "Not So Different" Remark: As Blacktip noted, her situation regarding her former kingdom is similar to his — both of them learned of an Awful Truth that was deliberately twisted by their own people to make themselves look more heroic, sending them into a Heroic BSoD. In Blacktip's case, he learned of the 'Burning of Amorea' and how Dragonkind twisted it to make themselves appear more heroic, while Swan learned her Fantastic Racism was based on a complete lie created by a genocidal mass-murderer. This actually led to them becoming friends as Blacktip knew full well what she was going through, having experienced it himself.
  • Oh, My Gods!: She screams the names of Notus and Boreas, two prominent Griffon deities, as she laments how she was unwittingly endorsing a racist mass-murder who decieved everyone.
  • Our Gryphons Are Different: She's a Southern Griffon — specifically, a Swan Griffon — and thus is part Swan and part feline.
  • Red Pill, Blue Pill: After discovering Gaul's journel, Gamall (actually High Queen Kunnusta in disguise), who helped her find it, offers her a choice: close the book, hide it away, and forget she ever found it so she and her kindgom can continue living in peaceful, ignorant bliss, or leave the book and read it to the world, exposing King Gaul's horrific crimes. She ultimately chooses the latter, setting in motion the events that lead to her kingdom's destruction.
  • Semi-Divine: She became a Celestial Griffon demigoddess after training under Prince Sermo Machina for many years.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: Before her Heel–Face Turn, she wore fancy suits. She stopped doing it after discovering her homeland's Awful Truth and defected to Cobbletown.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: As part of her recurring anger problems, she can become rather foul-mouthed when angry despite her best efforts to control her temper. Even after pulling a Heel–Face Turn, she still suffers from it. Blacktip and others are trying to help her through this, however.
  • Stress Vomit: Learning the Awful Truth about Gael, someone she idolized, being a mass-murdering liar on top of guilt realizing that means her own actions following his example were vile forces her to run to the bathroom and puke her guts up.
  • Swans A-Swimming: She's part Swan as a Southern Griffon, and occasionally shows signs of it like honking when she gets angry. Also, her webbed paws make for good swimming, but are less dexterous for actually holding stuff.
  • Take Our Word for It: In Univesre, her massive, racist tirade at the conference was so foul-mouthed, bigoted, and inflammatory that Codex Equus researchers refused to reprint it.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: According to her, her favorite breakfast food was a Dragon omelet, "filled with bacon, watercress, and cheese, topped with chives and accompanied by buttered bread and a cup of coffee". This stemmed from how she grew up eating Dragon omelets with her siblings as a young chick. Following her discovery of her kingdom's Awful Truth and the loss of her home, however, she was confirmed to be one among many ex-Talon Bàis Griffons who turned to vegetarianism to atone for their crimes and/or condonement of their society's racism.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Her discovery of secret records regarding Gael's true character and crimes kickstarts a series of events that leads to (among other things) the kingdom of Talon Bàis experiencing a cultural-political crisis, becoming a xenophobic Police State, and being utterly destroyed by the 'Free Dragon' kingdoms it tried to wage war against. She felt guilty and saddened over the loss of her home, but thanks to Blacktip, she ultimately accepted that her people chose to doom themselves by clinging onto their anti-Dragon racism.
  • Villainous BSoD: To say she was NOT happy learning about the Awful Truth about her nation’s founder would be a massive understatement. She ultimately rallied though and chose to do the right thing by publishing it.
  • Virtuous Vegetarianism: As a Talon Bàis Griffon, she used to eat various Dragon dishes (including those that used Dragon eggs and juvenile Dragons as ingredients), and saw nothing wrong with this due to her racism. After discovering the Awful Truth of her home and surviving the destruction of Talon Bàis, she was among many who turned to vegetarianism to atone for partaking in their former kingdom's atrocities. Deconstructed, as it's pointed out she biologically needs meat to live and this was actually Self-Harm. Fortunately, she's convinced to eat meat again.
  • What You Are in the Dark: As pointed out by Gamall/High Queen Kunnusta, after discovering and reading Gael's journal, she's the only mortal presently alive who knows the Awful Truth about his actions. As such, she could either close the book and never reveal the contents, allowing her kingdom to continue living in ignorance, or blow the lid on it and finally expose injustice that was hidden since its founding. She ultimately chooses to do the latter.
  • Your Approval Fills Me with Shame: She was praised by her fellow Griffons for "putting those scaly savages in their place", while telling her not to worry about getting evicted from the diplomatic conference too much. After learning what her kingdom's founder really did to the 'wicked' Dragonflight he killed in legends, however, she remembers the praise she previously received, and it's the last straw that pushes her to Stress Vomit in the bathroom.

    Pit Viper, the Insidious Vine

Character: Villainous

Alignment: Neutral Evil

Type: Tyrant King, Mad Scientist, Ancient Human, Transhuman Abomination, Parasitic Plant, Malignant Undead, Species Endling (Unverified)

Faction: Himself

"I am the rightful owner of this continent. It was mine, all mine, every insect and blade of grass and grain of sand. I ruled it all. And then you came, with your outsized brains and your clumsy crushing talons and your fire. And you stole it from me."

Pit Viper (his entry here) is an ancient Human King from the First Age turned mind controlling plant entity that's unleashed in the modern day.
  • Achilles' Heel: After becoming a Botanical Abomination, Pit Viper is extremely difficult to kill and exceedingly dangerous, but the taproot of the plant growing through his and Lizard's heads it his weakspot. Ripping it out and destroying it kills Pit Viper and the entire parasitic plant superorganism.
  • Adaptational Badass: Cottonmouth was a normal human prior to becoming the Othermind, Pit Viper was a skilled magic user and alchemist in life. He also puts up much more of a fight against the heroes than Cottonmouth in the finale, as once Luna convinced Lizard to rebel, the fight was pretty much over, whereas Pit Viper has a Battle At The Center Of The Mind with Sacred Swan before the group kills him.
  • Age Lift: Cottonmouth was already one of the oldest beings in his setting, but was 'only' 5,000 years old. Pit Viper is tens of thousands of years old.
  • Ancient Evil: Pit Viper is a First Age sovereign turned Botanical Abomination who laid dorment under what is now Cobbletown for tens of thousands of years before being accidentally unearthed.
  • Big Bad: Pit Viper serves as the main antagonist of the Cottonmind Outbreak in his attempt to retake the land he once ruled that is now replaced with Cobbletown.
  • Botanical Abomination: He used to be a human but has long since merged with and took control of mind controlling plant.
  • Dead All Along: His body died long ago. His consciousness/soul survives as part of and co-central intelligence of a mind-controlling parasitic plant superorganism.
  • Dragged Off to Hell: After being killed, Pit Viper spirit is dragged off to Nekelmu's Hell-Realms due to him having violating Primeval Law.
  • Dug Too Deep: He and the Cottonmind were unearthed by a construction project in Cobbletown after tens of thousands of years of dormancy. They didn't dig quite deep enough to fully unleash him, however, so he used his brainwashed minions to finish the job of digging up the ancient root system so he could begin rapidly spreading under Cobbletown.
  • Expy: Of Cottonmouth/the Othermind.
  • Fantastic Slurs: The name he gave the whelp in his care, "Lizard", also counts as this, as he is extremely racist towards the Dragons and refuses to see them — even Lizard herself — as nothing but savage beasts. He called her "Lizard" so much that it became her name.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: He attempts to wear down Sacred Swan's resistance so he can take her over and stop them from killing him by explaining how his empire was destroyed by dragons. Sacred Swan has none of it and points out he brought that on himself by kidnapping their eggs and experimenting on them despite being on good terms with them.
  • Leaking Can of Evil: After a sample of the Cottonmind was dug up and Queen Vespidae began tampering with it, he and Lizard woke up and began to spread as she used it for her own ends. However, the bulk of the Cottonmind was still buried in the ruins of his dungeon, but this gave him enough brainwashed slaves to dig up his root system and fully set himself free.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Pit Viper is a cunning manipulator and can trick people into trusting him. This is very important to his powerset, as he can't actually read people's memories unless they give him permission, so he has to manipulate them into doing it.
  • Mind Control: Has the ability to do so through the spores of the Cottonmind, which quickly germinates inside a victim who has inhaled, injected or ingested them and take over their nervous system.
  • Parasitic Horror: Pit Viper has long sense become a parasitic plant capable of taking over people's bodies. He manages to take over a large portion of Cobbletown at the height of his rampage.
  • Puppeteer Parasite: Once his spores germinate inside a victim, they take over their nervous system and allow him to take control of them. He can either do this by making them obey his commands, or assuming direct control of them.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: After his first outbreak was put down, he was left buried in his own dungeon for tens of thousands of years until a construction project in Cobbletown unearthed a piece of the Cottonmind. He wasn't fully set free until he used his brainwashed slaves to break into the ancient root system and let him begin spreading.
  • The Sociopath: Beneath his veneer of excuses, he is utterly incapable of caring about anyone and anything beyond himself and his goals. He is a narcissistic sociopath through and through.
  • Villains Want Mercy: As he realizes the Cobbletown Trio are about to actually kill him, he begins begging for them not to do so. He goes from appealing to him (supposedly) being the Last of His Kind to pointing out that they'll kill Lizard along with him, to finally offering them anything they want, including control of the Cottonmind. They don't listen and put the monster down.
  • Was Once a Man: To the surprise of the heroes, who thought the plant was simply a tool of Queen Vespidae Avalon, he's actually a human who became the controlling consciousness of a mind controlling plant. All that remains of his original body is his skeleton overgrown by the plant. Even his soul has long since become twisted by his evil into something utterly inhuman.

Lizard, the Devil's Flower/Freiheit, the New Sprout

Character: Anti-Villainous -> Heroic

Alignment: Neutral Evil -> Chaotic Good

Type (formerly): Undead, Dragon, Parasitic Plant, Abused Child, Florakinetic

Type (currently): Reincarnation, Botanist, Green Dragon, Photographer, Telepath

Faction: Herself -> Cobbletown

Freiheit, formerly known as Lizard (her entry here), was a severely abused Dragon whelp who was once part of a botanical hivemind along with Pit Viper, before she was rescued and reincarnated to receive a better life.
  • Cheerful Child: After being reincarnated, she became a cheerful baby Dragon whelp who adored her adoptive family, including Blacktip and Urtica, and enjoyed spending time with them. She mostly retained those cheerful traits as she grew older, though she also developed a Tsundere side.
  • Discard and Draw: Her Reincarnation loses access to the Cottonmind, as it was completely obliterated down to the DNA and thus no longer exists, but gains Psychic Powers instead.
  • Expy: Of Lizard/Freedom.
  • Meaningful Rename: Her initial name was "Lizard", which doubles as a slur as her abuser and guardian, Pit Viper, is a strong anti-Dragon bigot. Fortunately, after Pit Viper is killed, Lizard is renamed "Freiheit" ("freedom" in German) by Sacred Swan and her group in consideration for everything the little whelp went through.
  • Past-Life Memories: Her Reincarnation begins dreaming of her past life, which causes some emotional issues until Sacred Swan finally tells her the truth about why she was reincarnated.
  • Poisonous Person: She reincarnates as a Green Dragon, and thus has poison powers. She chose a Green Dragon so she'd be like Blacktip.
  • Puppeteer Parasite: Like Pit Viper, she can control those infected by the Cottonmind parasite. However, she very rarely actually uses it because she's not interested in doing so much.
  • Reincarnation: While allowing herself to be killed alongside Pit Viper and the Cottonmind, she's allowed to reincarnated as an innocent whelp to have an actual life as Sacred Swan's adopted daughter.
  • Shoot the Dog: The only way to kill Pit Viper and destroy the Cottonmind will also kill Lizard/Freiheit. Ultimately, there's no other option and the Cobbletown Trio have no choice but to do so, though the whelp tells them to go ahead.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Played With: she does die like in canon, but unlike Freedom she comes back in a way, which Freedom never did.
  • Symbiotic Possession: After Sacred Swan convinces her to rebel against Pit Viper, she sticks around in Swan's head and possesses her on several occassions to prevent Viper from realizing it as well as help the group out.
  • Taking You with Me: She tells Sacred Swan how to destroy the Cottonmind and kill Pit Viper, despite knowing it will kill her along with them. She even helps them do so when Pit Viper tries to take over Sacred Swan.
