Mason Mercenary Office

    As a group

  • Plucky Comic Relief: They at least get played more seriously than the Freedom Riders, but they're still the focus of many comedic scenes, mostly revolving around John being a perennially unlucky Butt-Monkey who gets no respect from his subordinates or clients.

    John Mason
Voiced by: KR: Kwak Yoonsang JP: Tetsu Inada
Type: Soldier
Role: Ranger
Rarity: SSR
"I'm John Mason, the Intelligent Mercenary. I'm sure you've heard of me... What? You haven't?"
An unusual mercenary with a doctorate degree in engineering, and the founder of the Mason Mercenary Office.

He first appears in Episode 2.

  • Badass Bookworm: He has a PhD in engineering. His fancy gadgets, including an Attack Drone that can summon a Corrupted Object? All built by him.
  • Butt-Monkey: Nothing ever seems to go completely right for this guy. He's constantly broke, people frequently make fun of or insult him, and even when he accomplishes something there's always strings attached.
  • A Day in the Limelight: He's the protagonist of "Bullets and Thorns" and "Mercenary, Thief, and..."
  • Distressed Dude: His debut scene is Mina and Amy finding him tied up after he was captured by Finley Hired goons.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: Despite his title of "Intelligent Mercenary", no one seems to know who he is (except Sylvia), and he tends to be the butt of jokes from Jane Doe and his own secretary.
  • I Call It "Vera": His drone is named Ian Jr.
    • In Episode 8, it seems to have been renamed Jane Killer after she swindled him out of most of his paycheck in "Mercenary, Thief, and..."
  • Jerkass to One: He develops a comical distrust of Jane Doe for constantly pulling the wool over his eyes.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Drawn with more realistic features making him more of a Hunk rather than a Bishounen.
  • Perpetual Poverty: Due to being a normal soldier in a world of superhuman Counters, John tends to take more dangerous missions, but the extra funds are used to buy special bullets for the next dangerous mission, leading to the Running Gag that his company is on the verge of bankruptcy. It's not helped by Jane stealing any additional money he's made whenever a mission involves her.
  • Summon Bigger Fish: If his drone survives long enough, it summons a powerful Corrupted Object to attack enemies. This is explained in his Side Story as the result of a device built into it that can attract C.O.s.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: His cooperation with Jake Walker in Episode 8 starts out rough due to their prior history in "Bullets and Thorns". Over time, they seem to smooth things over, culminating in him helping Jake into the Stormbringer armor and being Jake's Mission Control as he fights against Hollow God Khamimael.
  • Tragic Keepsake: His Exclusive Equipment is a broken Counter Watch that he wears near his left shoulder. It's never commented on, but it all but explicitly belonged to his late brother Ian since he retrieved it from Ian's corpse.

    Zhang Wei
Voiced by: KR: Yeo Yoonmi JP:
Role: Operator
Rarity: SR
Subtitle: One-man Corporation Bookkeeper
Command Skill: Ankle Grabber (Sniper > Ranger > Ranger)
"I'm pretty good at bookkeeping. ...Pardon? An Operator?"
A talented bookkeeper who always got involved with the wrong people until she settled down at John Mason's Mercenary Office.

She first appears in "Bullets and Thorns".

  • Brilliant, but Lazy: John Mason thinks she's lazy, but given her track record, the less work she has to do, the more transparent the company's finances. To her, working hard means a lot of money laundering.

    Jane Doe
Voiced by: KR: Sa Moonyoung JP: Mai Nakahara
Type: Soldier
Role: Striker
Rarity: SSR
"Jane Doe. Just an ordinary mercenary, as you can see. Nice to meet you, Boss."
A shady mercenary who always seems to get on John Mason's nerves.

She first appears in "Bullets and Thorns", and she's a supporting ally in Episodes 4 and 5.

  • Armor-Piercing Response: She drops her usual whimsical act when she finds out John named his drone "Ian Jr." Ian being John's brother and Jane's implied husband/lover.
  • Child Prodigy: Her "Suspicious Science Girl" skin shows her practicing chemistry as a child.
  • The Gadfly: She frequently mocks and irritates John Mason.
  • Hero Antagonist: She fights John Mason in "Mercenary, Thief, And..." because John's client has a C.O. as a pet, which is explicitly illegal.
  • Hunting the Rogue: Episode 4 opens with her making her escape from the Replacer Syndicate, with Replacer Queen calling her a rat.
  • In Love with the Mark: The Replacer Syndicate hired her to keep an eye on Ian Mason, and it's heavily implied that she ended up falling in love with him. From Episode 5 onwards, she even calls John "brother" since they're both connected to Ian.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She may be having fun screwing with John, but she does give him a clue towards avenging Ian in "Bullets and Thorns", she steals his payout from the Replacer Incident to advance her and Ian's research projects for the sake of humanity, and she indirectly gives him a stash of Credits in her fake bomb at the end of "Mercenary, Thief, And..." so he could stay afloat.
  • Made of Iron: Episode 4 opens with her surviving a sixth-floor drop while enduring a bullet in her leg and two in her arms. This is thanks to her perfected Elixir.
  • Mad Scientist: The incomplete Elixir that was distributed through the Magellan Prediction Society was her work as part of the Replacer Syndicate, but she secretly developed a safe version of the Elixir so that she could put up a fight against the Syndicate.
  • Meaningful Name: A Jane Doe usually refers to a woman or soldier whose actual identity is uncertain. In-universe, much of her background is unknown and "Jane Doe" itself is, as expected, a pseudonym.
  • Parental Abandonment: The scene unlocked with her "Suspicious Science Girl" skin reveals that she spent her childhood in an orphanage.
  • Put on a Bus: Her last appearance is in "Mercenary, Thief, And..." since she has avenged Ian and is now working on her and Ian's research for the sake of humanity.
  • Sexy Slit Dress: Her "Secretive Jet" skin mixed with a Qipao.
  • Sibling Rivalry: Taking her past and her relationship with Ian into account, she's implied to be invoking this with John since he's the only family she has.

Tommy the Die-hard (and Jerry and Mickey)
Voiced by: -
Type: Soldier
Role: Defender, Ranger (Jerry), Striker (Mickey)
Rarity: R
Team: Tommy and the Losers
""
A mercenary with two other lackeys named Jerry and Mickey. The down-on-their-luck trio struggle through thick and thin.

They first appear in Episode 2.

  • Balance Buff: Jerry and Mickey were updated to correspond with their classes, elevating the trio to a possible Lethal Joke Character.
  • Butt-Monkey: So much. Their subtitle is Tommy and the Losers.
  • Continuity Nod: "Bullets and Thorns" reveals their past history with John Mason that was mentioned in Episode 2.
  • The Dividual: In-story, the three of them are never seen apart despite their bickering. In gameplay, Jerry and Mickey are summoned when Tommy is deployed.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Their debut scene is them being late to a recent scuffle between the protagonist group and the mercenaries aiming for the recent bounty put on the group's heads. Knowing they stand no chance against five Counters, they shamelessly ask John if they can tag along, sensing that they're about to make some serious money. After they shill themselves, John then vouches for their "loyalty", or at least them not being turncoats.
  • The Faceless: The trio's faces are hidden behind their helmets.
  • I Call It "Vera": Mickey calls his shotgun Gran Turismo.
  • Lethal Joke Character: Despite their low stats and rarity, the trio are considered as whatever they are a Palette Swap of, meaning that together with Tommy you're also deploying a Ranger and a Striker.
  • Palette Swap: Of the regular Steel Lane soldiers, sharing the same appearance but with red armour instead of grey. Tommy is a Shieldman, Jerry is a Rifleman, and Mickey is a Suppressor.
  • Plucky Comic Relief: They're a trio of bumbling, comedic mercenaries whose dialogue almost always injects some sort of humor into the situation.
  • Recurring Extra:
    • In terms of the main story, they appear in Episodes 2, 3, 5, 9, and 10.
    • They also appear in the side stories "Bullets and Thorns", "Mercenary, Thief, And...", and "Neverland Nevermore".
  • Recruitment by Rescue: In John Mason's Side Story, he and Jane Doe indirectly help the trio survive their encounter with Jake Walker. By the time of Episode 5, the trio consider themselves part of the Mason Mercenary Office, even though John didn't actually recruit them. In "Mercenary, Thief, And..." Tommy calls John his team's agent.
  • Saying Too Much: In "Mercenary, Thief, And..." Tommy calls John his team's agent within earshot of their client who wants John dead, in turn painting targets on his own team's backs. Fortunately, John manages to deescalate the situation and dupe the client with a prearranged deception tactic.
  • Self-Applied Nickname: Jerry and Mickey both think "Tommy and the Losers" is a lame group name, and they swap it with "Jerry and the Raiders" and "Mickey's Gang of Twilight", respectively.
  • Shout-Out: Their names are Tommy, Jerry, and Mickey.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: The trio are mediocre mercenaries, but expect them to one-up each other's boasts to ridiculous levels.
  • Undying Loyalty: Downplayed; while John Mason and their own bio make it clear that they'd never outright betray a client (unlike most mercenaries), trying to bail when number two hits the fan is definitely a possibility.
  • The Voiceless: The trio are unvoiced despite having a lot of dialogue in story cutscenes.

The Militia

    As a group

    Kang Minwoo
Voiced by: KR: Ahn Hyomin JP:
Type: Soldier
Role: Defender
Rarity: SR
"So you've brought a third-rate villain aboard. Hope you're ready for the backlash from the rest of the world."
A member of the Militia, a vigilante group who hunts criminal Counters. Gruff and stubborn, he is relentless in his pursuit of eliminating his targets.

He is one of the protagonists of "The Weak and the Strong", and he also appears in "For the Uncrying".

  • Cape Busters: As a member of the Militia, he targets criminal Counters primarily. His Passive also gives him and any allied Soldiers (and Lee Yuri) damage resistance against Counters specifically.
  • He Who Fights Monsters: A former cop, he abandoned his career and became an underground assassin after a hostage situation with the Matchmaker led to the deaths of his fellow officers and the hostage.
  • Kill It with Fire: Many Counters are resistant to ordinary bullets, so he packs white phosphorus rounds and IEDs.
  • Lawman Gone Bad: His encounter with the Matchmaker turned him from cop to vigilante. Kang Soyoung's last Counter Case reveals that Minwoo was her former boss in SWAT 4, implying that the Matchmaker was the reason for the formation of both the Militia and the Black Tide (whose founder was also Kang's former superior).
  • Made of Iron: The Militia storyline seriously puts him through the wringer, including a couple hits that would've turned normal people into paste, but he just keeps soldiering on. Appropriately enough, he's a Defender in gameplay.
  • Mentor Archetype: "For the Uncrying" shows that he took up the position of leading Refugee District 6's neighborhood watch and rallying them to protect themselves and the innocent people of the district. The men call him "Instructor" as a result, though he'd prefer not to be referred to as such. He also offers advice to Horizon, having already been in her shoes on a quest for revenge.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: In Episode 9.5, Levia purposefully makes him shoot Kang to give Yuri an opening to escape Yumi, which devastates him. At the end of the Episode, he surrenders himself to the Black Tide, who was searching the destroyed Coffin Company building for survivors.
  • Retired Outlaw: After the Matchmaker's defeat, he settled down in Refugee District 6 as part of its neighborhood watch with a day job as a convenience store clerk. Of course, the district is a Wretched Hive at the best of times, so his expertise in fighting criminals makes him a valuable addition to the community.
  • Shotguns Are Just Better: While his primary weapon looks like an assault rifle, it's actually a shotgun that packs a hefty amount of knockback and inflicts area of effect damage.
  • Situational Sword: His tankiness comes primarily from his Passive giving him and other Soldiers damage resistance against Counters. Against non-Counter enemies, he goes down far more quickly.
  • Your Terrorists Are Our Freedom Fighters: Despite his acts of what could be counted as blatant terrorism, many civilians believe he and the Militia are in the right. It helps that they primarily target criminal Counters who believe that their powers make them untouchable by the law, even if their own methods can get rather destructive.

    Choi Jihoon
Voiced by: KR: Chaebin Lim JP: Yoshimasa Hosoya
Type: Soldier
Role: Sniper
Rarity: SSR
"Thank you for the offer. You'll be my last and only client now."
A member of the Militia, a group dedicated to hunting criminal Counters. A former soldier and sniper, he spends most of his time teaching the new recruits of the group.

He is a supporting ally in "The Weak and the Strong", and debuted as a Counter Pass unit.

  • Character Death: He dies in the climax of "The Weak and the Strong", and a news report in the epilogue mentions his body being found in the Matchmaker's villa.
  • Face–Heel Turn: When Yuri and Minwoo have their climactic fight against the Matchmaker, Jihoon reveals that he had switched sides when the Gunsmith's killer confronted him, but this is later revealed to be part of his plan to take down the Matchmaker.
  • I Lied: He mentions needing money for his hospitalized sister when he defects to the Matchmakers, but when the Matchmaker brings her up as Jihoon's about to conduct his Suicide Attack, he quips that she already died a long time ago, when "some maniac who sold matches used her as a hostage".
  • Mentor Archetype: He mentors the Militia's new recruits.
  • Once More, with Clarity: "The Weak and the Strong" opens with Lee Yuri and Kang Minwoo making their escape from a fire and an unknown person, with their comrade Jihoon absent. That scene is revealed to be set right after Jihoon's suicide bombing.
  • Secretly Dying: The next scene after Jihoon's suicide bombing reveals that he had pancreatic cancer, with only six months left to live at best.
  • Suicide Attack: When the Matchmaker orders Jihoon to execute a cornered Minwoo and Yuri to prove his new loyalty to the Matchmakers, Jihoon instead primes the explosives strapped to his body to take out the Matchmaker in an explosion as revenge for both the Gunsmith and his younger sister. Unfortunately, the Matchmaker survives it.
  • You Killed My Father: He secretly sought revenge against the Matchmaker for killing his younger sister after using her as a hostage in the incident that got Minwoo's fellow officers killed.

    Lee Yuri / Kasekabe Yuri
Voiced by: KR: Jung Yujung JP:
Type: Counter
Role: Ranger
Rarity: SSR
"I don't get involved in other people's personal business. I hope you're a wise boss."
The newest recruit of the Militia, and Yumi's sister.

She first appears in Lee Yumi's last Counter Case, and she's the protagonist of "The Weak and the Strong".

  • Amnesiac Dissonance: In "The Weak and the Strong", she doesn't remember how her parents died in a fire, and her only clue was the words of someone asking if she was scared, which makes her believe that person to be the culprit. It turns out that person was the Matchmaker, but he claims he was just in the area when her house went up in flames. The trauma made her forget that she awakened as a Counter.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: She first appears in Lee Yumi's last Counter Case.
  • Hunter Of Her Own Kind: She's the Militia's only known Counter, and she specializes in hunting down criminal Counters. As a unit, she gets a massive damage bonus against enemy Counters and can execute up to two low-health Counters via her Ultimate.
  • Internal Reveal: As a playable character, her status as a Counter is known; in the climax of "The Weak and the Strong", the Matchmaker reveals this to her (with Minwoo and Jihoon implied to have known for a while) and her Guest-Star Party Member version is treated as a Soldier.
  • Like Parent, Unlike Child: Episode 9.5 reveals that her father was a cop. She ended up becoming a vigilante. She still wants to protect innocent people like he did, though.
  • Made of Iron: Minwoo mentions that her ability to survive things that killed most Militia newbies wasn't just sheer dumb luck. She was unaware at the time that it was thanks to her Counter status.
  • One-Hit Kill: Her Ultimate can instantly kill one non-Boss Counter with less than 30% HP (two at Skill Level 5).
  • Parental Abandonment: She lost her parents when a criminal Counter broke into their home. By the end of "The Weak and the Strong", she has an idea of the truth, but not the full picture.
  • Playing with Fire: Her Counter powers.
  • Tomato in the Mirror: When a defeated Matchmaker tells Yuri that she may have been the one who killed her parents, she incinerates him in a moment of panic, and the sight of his death by her flames drives her to apologize to her parents and put her gun to her own head. It's interrupted by Minwoo, who tells her that she doesn't have the full truth yet.
  • Traumatic Superpower Awakening: It's heavily implied that she gained her Counter powers while she and Yumi were hiding from the Matchmaker at their parents' request, which tragically caused the fire that orphaned and distanced the sisters.
  • The Unreveal: By the end of "The Weak and the Strong", it's never explicitly stated whether the cause of her home burning down was her own awakening to her powers or the Matchmaker, but Minwoo believes that it's better that way. Episode 9.5 confirms that it's a mix of both: the fire was Yuri's, but the Matchmaker targeting her dad that night triggered it. The only reason she survived her own flames is the Mansion Master spiking her drink earlier that night when she was spending time with her family in ARC-KS1.
  • Unseen No More: She debuts as a playable character alongside the event "The Weak and the Strong".
  • The Voice: In Lee Yumi's last Counter Case, Yuri speaks but has no art. It's justified by Yumi not getting a good look at her.

    Levia Thanis
Voiced by: KR: Kim I-an JP:
Type: Counter
Role: Defender
Rarity: SSR
Subtitle: Successor
"Fashion begins with a hairstyle. And you know how they say that a good start is half done? So if you sign with me, you're already half done!"
A new member of the Militia, and its second Counter after Lee Yuri.

She appears in Episode 9.5, and debuted as a Counter Pass unit.

  • Hidden Villain: She's the main antagonist of Episode 9.5, having carefully arranged events to reunite with her "sister", the entity in Orca's Watch.
  • Possessing a Dead Body: Her body previously belonged to a hairdresser named Nancy. Nancy came across Levia's Watch after a mercenary toyed with her feelings for him and stole her necklace, a Tragic Keepsake of her mother. She murdered the mercenary with Levia's help, but after realizing what she did she gave up on living and let Levia take her body.
  • Shear Menace: Fights with scissors of various sizes.
  • Walking Spoiler: It's hard to describe her without spoiling Episode 9.5.

Nanahara Family Alliance

    As a group
The group first appears in "The Sun-Calling Tracks".

    Nanahara Chinatsu
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chinatsu.jpg
Voiced by: KR: Soeun Lee JP: Satomi Sato
Type: Counter
Role: Supporter
Rarity: SSR
"So, you're the one tied to the other end of the thread of fate. The wind brought me here. Nice to meet you. I'm the leader of the Nanahara Family."
The current leader of the Nanahara Family Alliance, she's tasked with keeping Orochi's seal from breaking. Also Chifuyu's older twin sister.

She first appears in "Fateful Summer", and she's a main character in "The Sun-Calling Tracks" and "Ethereal Moon Splitter".

  • Always Need What You Gave Up: Using her powers to heal Chifuyu after "The Sun-Calling Tracks" led to her losing the ability to hear the voice of the wind, which she sorely misses as without her foresight she constantly doubts her decisions.
  • Ancestral Weapon: "The Sun-Calling Tracks" reveals that her sword, the Kusanagi, has been passed down the line of Nanahara leaders. It was previously used to sacrifice the leader to reinforce Orochi's seal, until Chinatsu discovered a way that no longer needed a sacrifice.
  • Balance Buff: Her Rearm enhances her healing and gives her Kirin-like horns.
  • BFS: Her sword is longer than she is tall.
  • Blow You Away: Attacks with wind, mixed with some Cherry Blossoms.
  • The Chains of Commanding: Beneath her serene exterior, Chinatsu is heavily burdened by her role as head of the Family Alliance and is constantly worrying about making the right choices and, in "Ethereal Moon Splitter", wanting to protect everyone without making sacrifices. This ultimately drives Chifuyu to a Rage Breaking Point as Chifuyu very much wants to help share her burden and is frustrated that Chinatsu will not allow her to.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Gets one in the "The Sun-Calling Tracks".
  • Death Seeker: Due to the failed attempt to banish Orochi three years ago, she blames herself for allowing the seal to break and her prophecy apparently being wrong. She enlists Minato's help to mend the seal, but she does not tell him that it involves her sacrificing herself.
  • Heroic Suicide: Attempted twice - once in "The Sun-Calling Tracks" to pacify the Plague God by offering herself as a sacrifice (which was ultimately made unnecessary by Chifuyu), and the second time in "Ethereal Moon Splitter" by sacrificing herself to prevent the Nether God's blood from overwhelming her sister (successfully, but Nao gives up her own Divinity to revive Chinatsu).
  • Hidden Buxom: Her What If? skin and Rearm shows that she's actually hiding a pretty ample chest.
    • Averted in the dress she wears in Memorials Vol 1.
  • I Lied: In "Fateful Summer", this is how she manages to get Chifuyu on to a boat so they could enjoy not having to fight or be so formal.
  • Miko: Her clothing aesthetic.
  • Not So Omniscient After All: While she's gifted with power to foresee the future, what she predicts may not be accurate; in "The Sun-Calling Tracks", three years ago her prediction to bring down Orochi failed and cost many members of the Alliance, giving her massive guilt. As it turns out, what she predicted might have succeeded had Orochi's servant among the Alliance members not weakened Orochi's seal, thus leaking miasma on the combat ground.
  • Older Than She Looks: She's older than her more mature-looking twin sister Chifuyu.
  • Seers: The Alliance leader is determined by whether they can hear "whispers of the wind" (i.e., the future), and Chinatsu has this power.
  • Theme Twin Naming: "Chinatsu" means "thousand summers" while her sister's name "Chifuyu" means "thousand winters". Also a Meaningful Name, as Chinatsu is warmer and more welcoming than Chifuyu.
  • What If?: Her "I can't believe it's Master Nanahara" skin shows what could have happened if she sacrificed herself to Orochi and was possessed by it after the bloodline of the first priestess sided with Orochi.

    Nanahara Chifuyu
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chifuyu.jpg
Voiced by: KR: Kim Yeonwoo JP: Rina Sato
Type: Counter
Role: Striker
Rarity: SSR, ASSR
Subtitle: Orochinagi (Awakened)
"My sister- excuse me, the Family Leader has told me about you. As the First Instructor of the Nanahara Style, I, Nanahara Chifuyu, will cut down all your enemies."
"Nanahara Chifuyu, first instructor of the Nanahara Style, at your service. It is an honor to greet you once again." (Awakened)
A swordmaster who protects her leader, and her elder twin sister, Chinatsu.

She first appears in "Fateful Summer", she's a major character in "The Sun-Calling Tracks", and she's the protagonist of "Ethereal Moon Splitter".

  • Back-to-Back Badasses: In the climax of "Ethereal Moon Splitter", she and Sanae fight together to take down Lenore.
  • The Chosen One: "Ethereal Moon Splitter" reveals that she is the "unexpected child" that the first Nanahara priestess prophecized would awaken the Plague God, which technically comes true twice over: her blood awakened Orochi in "The Sun-Calling Tracks", and she later awakens the blood of the other Plague God, the Nether God, after seeing Chifuyu sacrifice her own life for her sake.
  • Critical Status Buff: The closer Orochinagi Chifuyu gets to death, the stronger she becomes. At certain health thresholds, she gains an Attack buff and unlocks additional passive bonuses. After dropping to critical health, she's immune to most hitstuns and Skill Seal and can Blind enemies with her Special, and at Skill Level 5 she becomes Immortal once when her health is depleted.
  • Damage-Increasing Debuff: Her Passive lets her lower enemy defense after every two basic attacks (at Skill Level 5, her Special and Ultimate are also counted).
  • A Day in the Limelight: She's a key character in the Nanahara Family Alliance story arc, especially in "Ethereal Moon Splitter".
  • Exact Words: In "Ethereal Moon Splitter", Nao requires a "warrior unafraid of all death" to complete the divine treasure Orochinagi, but despite Chifuyu's insistence that she's not afraid to die, Nao insists she's not the one. That's because she does fear one death: her sister's. So when Chinatsu sacrifices herself to pacify the blood of the Nether God coursing through Chifuyu, Chifuyu is finally able to wield the Orochinagi properly and achieve her Awakened form.
  • Flower Motifs: Her sword was named Narcissus by its smith, and her Awakened form incorporates narcissus flowers into most of her animations.
  • Iaijutsu Practitioner: Her default form fights this way, drawing her sword from its sheath in wide flourishes and re-sheathing it after attacking.
  • Immune to Flinching: At Skill Level 5, her Ultimate lets her ignore hitstun from Specials and basic attacks for 15 seconds.
  • Jack of All Stats: She's an incredibly versatile frontliner for both offense and defense, with her good natural defense and a kit that can weaken, stun, and silence enemies.
  • Lady and Knight: The Knight to her sister's Lady, swearing to protect her as her bodyguard.
  • Master Swordsman: Of the Nanahara Style. Notably, her Counter Grade is listed as D (the lowest possible) and only goes up to C in her Awakened form, meaning her Counter abilities are relatively weak and she overcomes opponents with pure swordsmanship.
  • My Blood Runs Hot: In her Awakened form, Chifuyu's body temperature rises drastically. It's the first thing about this form that Chinatsu comments on, noting that she'll no longer have to worry about being cold in the winter with Chifuyu by her side.
  • My Master, Right or Wrong: She follows her sister's guidance with no interest in deviating. If given a Lifetime Contract, she also extends this courtesy to the CEO.
  • Mystical White Hair: Her Awakened form turns her hair from brown to white as a result of her taking in the power of the Nether God.
  • Power Nullifier: At Skill Level 5, her Special seals the skills of non-Boss enemies it hits for 5 seconds.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: After being injected with the Plague God's blood, Chifuyu becomes a dangerous red-eyed berserker grappling to stay in control of herself. This is one of the tamer effects it has on people and only because she has enough Heroic Willpower to fight its influence; everyone else subjected to it turned into mindless Corrupted Objects instead. In her Awakened form, she fully overcomes it and one of her eyes returns to its usual blue.
  • The Starscream: In "The Sun-Calling Tracks", she competes against Chinatsu for position of Alliance leader due to the Alliance elders' doubt on Chinatsu's ability to lead, which both sisters accept. However, Chifuyu took up the challenge so readily because she knows Chinatsu aims to sacrifice herself to seal Orochi; by becoming the leader, she can sacrifice herself in Chinatsu's place, thus protecting Chinatsu and giving her back the position.
  • Theme Twin Naming: "Chifuyu" means "thousand winters", while her sister's name "Chinatsu" means "thousand summers". It's also a Meaningful Name, as Chifuyu is much more stoic and reserved than her sister.
  • Took a Level in Badass: The climax of "Ethereal Moon Splitter" reveals that her Awakened form is the result of the influence of the Nether God's soul running through her.
  • Younger than She Looks: Subverted. She looks more mature than her older twin sister Chinatsu.

"You're looking for a part-time employee right? Is an ordinary high school student okay?"
A self-proclaimed ordinary high school student.

He is the protagonist of "The Sun-Calling Tracks", and he's a supporting ally in "Ethereal Moon Splitter".

  • Blatant Lies: In the epilogue of "The Sun-Calling Tracks", he tells Masaki that he seems unable to use his Nine Suns technique anymore. Note that it's his Ultimate as a playable character.
  • Can't Refuse the Call Anymore: He initially refuses Chinatsu's invite to the Nanahara Alliance, but after Iroha becomes a victim of Orochi's poison he knows that Chinatsu's invite is his only lead towards curing Iroha.
  • Clueless Chick-Magnet: Aki tends to avoid her Dirty Coward ways in front of him, Chinatsu considers their Forgotten First Meeting as one of the most important moments in her life, Chifuyu blushes when Kanade's wraith assumes that she and Minato are looking for a "love nest", and his classmate Iroha treats him in classic Tsundere fashion. He considers all of them friends.
  • Forgotten First Meeting: During "The Sun-Calling Tracks", he tells Chinatsu that he doesn't remember their first meeting. The epilogue reveals that he never forgot, but he intentionally invoked this to let the moment pass by.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: He believes that this is the best way to live, and finds that if people know he's a Counter it would ruin his friendship with them, not that it stops him from going to rescue people.
  • Master Archer:
  • Ordinary High-School Student: He calls himself this in his intro. "The Sun-Calling Tracks" reveals why he's so insistent on this.

A member of the Nanahara Family Alliance, he's the leader of the Ogami's Shadow Group, a well-known secret organization with him as its only member since its establishment.

He's a supporting ally in "The Sun-Calling Tracks" and "Ethereal Moon Splitter".

  • Birds of a Feather: In one of his post-Lifetime Contract lines, he mentions being impressed by Gabriel Jun, who is also a showy person.
"I saw some boy standing on one leg nearby. He looked impressive. Gah, why couldn't I think of that pose first?"
  • Chuunibyou: He claims to have the power of darkness, and "Ogami" is totally his name and not made up. Granted, he does have those powers as a Counter, but he still acts the part.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: His Counter powers manifest as shadowy flames, but he is a very upstanding guy beneath his quirks.
  • Do Not Call Me "Paul": Hates being called by his real name.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: He first appears in Ingrid Johanna's last Counter Case, as one of her apparent mentors.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: He has known Minato since they were next-door neighbors in preschool, and "The Sun-Calling Tracks" shows them being best friends.
  • Hidden Depths: In "The Sun-Calling Tracks", Minato thinks Masaki would be a great Operator. In the event's climax, he also shows skill in piloting the Kamiizumi, the ship his family built.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: In "The Sun-Calling Tracks", he's initially wary of Hayami Sanae due to the Alliance's distrust of her entire family, but by the end of the event he considers her part of his Shadow Group. Note that he's a high school student, while she's at least sixty years old.
  • Know-Nothing Know-It-All: His bio mentions that part of his routine is "feigning knowledge he doesn't have".
  • Meaningful Name: His bio mentions that he made up his "Ogami" surname as a reminder to himself of his ambition to control the Family Alliance from the shadows one day.
  • Playing with Fire: With a mix of Casting a Shadow.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: In his touch animation, his red right eye gives an ominous glint.
  • Ship Tease: In the epilogue of "The Sun-Calling Tracks", he wonders how Sanae is doing, and gets flustered when Minato suggests them visiting her after school.
  • You Killed My Father: Indirectly. He's implied to have some resentment toward Chinatsu for the death of his father, who sacrificed himself to clean up the mess from her failed attempt to seal Orochi three years ago. This is a large part of the reason he's distanced himself from the Alliance. While breaking Sanae out of false imprisonment, he learns that his father's death was orchestrated by Sayo and her co-conspirator Habaki, and is so enraged that he drops his act and wants them dead. By the end of the event, he does get to see Sayo die and have Habaki arrested. Coincidentally, Habaki does end up dead in "Ethereal Moon Splitter", but Masaki was elsewhere at the time.

"Nice to meet you, Master. I'll do my best to serve you and protect my Family's honor."
A member of the Nanahara Family Alliance. Despite her bloodline being important, due to complications she had vanished for a time, and returned as the maid.

She first appears in "End of the Maze", and she is a supporting ally in "The Sun-Calling Tracks" and "Ethereal Moon Splitter".

  • Aloof Dark-Haired Girl: Although most of her aloofness stems from her Self-Deprecation.
  • Ambiguously Absent Parent: Despite her mother having a prominent role in "The Sun-Calling Tracks", there's no mention of her father at all. "Ethereal Moon Splitter" implies that he died before or during the Administration Failure.
  • Back-to-Back Badasses: In the climax of "Ethereal Moon Splitter", she and Chifuyu complement each other's techniques of the Nether God's style to take down Lenore.
  • BFG: Her massive firearm named the Sadiron.
  • Extreme Doormat: Makes a point that people should not interact with her due to the trouble her family has caused.
  • Last of Her Kind: "Ethereal Moon Splitter" reveals that the rest of the Hayami family died in the Administration Failure.
  • Master Swordsman: She was the one who taught Chifuyu the Nanahara style, though she's stopped using her sword due to her family's disgraced status.
  • Meaningful Name: Her Ultimate is named after the Japanese word for lightning.
  • Mentor Archetype: She taught Chifuyu the Nanahara Style.
  • Missing Mom: "The Sun-Calling Tracks" reveals that her mother was murdered by a traitor within the Nanahara Family Alliance who had poisoned her mother's tea beforehand, and her body was buried on Orochi's mountain. In the event's epilogue, she mentions her mother being given a proper burial.
  • Noodle Incident: It's not known what exactly her mother did that ruined her family's name. In "End of the Maze", Lyudmila implies that the Administration also took issue with her mother but had either been repaid or no longer considers it a priority. "The Sun-Calling Tracks" reveals the truth about her mother, Kanade.
  • Number Two: "End of the Maze" reveals that she was the Deputy Commander of the Old Administration's Gordias Division.
  • Older Than She Looks: She's either in her late 60s or early-to-mid 70s, all while looking to be in her 30s.
  • Secret-Keeper: She was the only person who knew the truth of Chinatsu and Chifuyu's mom: she sacrificed her Divinity (her ability to hear the voice of wind) to revive Chifuyu, who was birthed after Chinatsu yet was unbreathing.
  • Self-Deprecation: A lot of it stems from her association with her mother.
  • Uncertain Doom: Her one scene in "End of the Maze", set during the Administration Failure, has her mention to Lyudmila that the Gordias Division is also on the verge of getting wiped out, with the Alliance's leader rallying the remainder of their troops to fight a suspected Category 6 C.O. She then wishes Lyudmila good luck before going off to assist her leader. "The Sun-Calling Tracks" reveals that she did survive the Administration Failure in the end, and in the epilogue she's attending to the CEO, who she calls "Master".
  • Weapon of X-Slaying: Her Passive increases both her own and her allies' damage against Siege enemies.
  • Yamato Nadeshiko: As the maid of the Nanahara Family Alliance, she knows how to cook and clean.

"My name is Hayami Kanade. As for my organization... Would you pick it for me, Master?"
A former member of the Nanahara Family Alliance, and the mother of Hayami Sanae. Her duty was primarily being a bodyguard, and she eventually was tasked to guard the Nanahara Family priestess. However, an unfortunate incident led to her murdering the priestess, and as a result her family was cast out of the alliance.

She appears in "The Sun-Calling Tracks".

  • Absurdly Youthful Mother: She looks quite a bit younger than her own daughter, Sanae. Justified, as this is her in her prime before she died.
  • Due to the Dead: In the epilogue of "The Sun-Calling Tracks", Sanae mentions giving her mom a proper burial, implying that Kanade and the Hayami family have been exonerated after the truth came to light.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: If she dodges twelve times, she becomes an Air unit and gains access to an enhanced basic attack.
  • My Greatest Failure: She feels incredibly guilty over the loss of her priestess. Specifically, the fact that she had to kill the priestess with the Kusanagi in order to prevent the traitors of the Nanahara Family Alliance from awakening Orochi by sacrificing the priestess.
  • Ninja Maid: Quite literally - her family prides themselves on household duties, but her fighting style emphasizes ninja-like agility and she both dresses the part and favors Stock Ninja Weaponry.
  • Posthumous Character: It's established fairly early that she died after she killed the priestess.
  • Resurrection Revenge: In the climax of "The Sun-Calling Tracks", the combination of her fox mask being given life by Chinatsu and her body being buried on Orochi's mountain allows Kanade to help Chinatsu and Minato seal Orochi away.
  • Undying Loyalty: In her Lifetime Contract scene, she reaffirms her oath to sacrifice herself for the CEO, and wants the CEO to slay her first if he ever thinks about sacrificing himself, even for a noble cause.
  • Worf Had the Flu: Orochi's servant, having poisoned Kanade's tea beforehand to make her vulnerable when they made their move against the priestess, brutally kills her in their one-on-one fight.

A blacksmith serving the Family Alliance, and the former Commander of the Gordias Division. She is readjusting to society after recently recovering from a sixty-year cryosleep.

She first appears in "Ethereal Moon Splitter".

  • Heroic Sacrifice: Non-fatal version. The epilogue of "Ethereal Moon Splitter" reveals that she secretly sacrificed her Divinity to revive Chinatsu after Chifuyu awakened to her Orochinagi form.
  • Promoted to Playable: As a Supporter.

OZ

They're the protagonists of the Project OZ story arc ("My Wish Is...", "The Moonless Night", and "Neverland Nevermore").
  • Shout-Out Theme Naming: Except for Lulu, each member's name matches the Project OZ story arc's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz theme:
    • Dorothy's is main character Dorothy.
    • Skia Crow's is the Scarecrow.
    • Liona's is the Cowardly Lion, and her sword Toto's is Dorothy's dog, Toto.
    • Glinda's is Glinda, the Good Witch of the South.

"If anyone touches my friend, I'll rip 'em a new one."
A member of OZ who fights with a mechanical prosthesis known as Magic Slippers, which grants her extreme movement speed and jumping power.
  • Aloof Dark-Haired Girl: She tends to keep her distance from everyone, although she can get easily flustered by her friends.
  • Artificial Limbs Are Stronger: She's not a Counter, but has Super-Speed thanks to her prosthetic legs. As shown in "The Moonless Night", they're also strong enough to bust down concrete walls.
  • Career-Ending Injury: Her dreams of being an athlete were ended by the accident that put her under Wizard's care, which took both her legs.
  • Early-Bird Cameo:
    • The New Origin update for the Global server lists her as a playable unit in Collection ahead of her debut in "My Wish Is..." due to her presence in the Japanese server (which is technically merged with Global).
    • She's also a Guest-Star Party Member in the event ahead of her debut banner.
  • I Call It "Vera": She originally wanted to name her prosthesis "Toto", but went with "Magic Slippers" because Liona named her sword "Toto" first.
  • Kick Chick: She's mostly a normal person aside from her enhanced prosthetic legs, so of course they're also her main weapon in battle.
  • Unwitting Pawn: To Wizard/Last Haven, who was gaslighting her into believing they're good people and making her recapture runaways. She's deeply indoctrinated enough that even Liona couldn't sway her, though a particularly talkative mook fixes that after a single villainous monologue.

"This... It feels like throwing a paper plane in the breeze on a large field made of grass. Does this mean I'm glad to see you?"
A member of OZ who was left clinically brain-dead after an unfortunate disaster, but is kept alive and functional by an AI system attached to her head.
  • Artificial Limbs Are Stronger: Her AI "brain" can rapidly perform calculations and set up courses for navigation, something she almost certainly wouldn't have been able to do as a normal human. The tradeoff is that she's not as good with social cues and emotions, which she's working on.
  • Crazy-Prepared: When Wizard's goons show up to clean up after Dorothy and Skia were supposed to kill Liona, one of them forces a factory reset on Skia, expecting it to wipe out her memories and personality entirely. Fortunately, she was savvy enough to swap the connections of her "Reset" and "Reboot" commands, so all they did was briefly knock her out.
  • Punny Name: Skia Crow = "Scarecrow".
  • Who Even Needs a Brain?: Her body is maintained entirely by an AI with most of her personality and memories, because her actual brain has become non-functional from the same incident that cost Dorothy her legs.

A scaredy-cat girl who used to look up to Counters, she bonds with a parasite called "Shard of the Devil" during an unfortunate accident and becomes a Counter herself.
  • Death Faked for You: In "My Wish Is...", Wizard told Dorothy and Skia that Liona's corpse was confirmed as part of their plan to take in the then-crippled duo and manipulate them, but Liona had gone to find help for them immediately after the disaster and has been looking for them ever since they went missing.
  • Early-Bird Cameo:
    • The New Origin update for the Global server lists her as a playable unit in Collection ahead of her debut in "My Wish Is..." due to her presence in the Japanese server (which is technically merged with Global).
    • She's also a Guest-Star Party Member in the event's climax ahead of her debut banner.
  • Glass Cannon: She has a very good attack stat for a 3-cost, but very little defenses and no defensive Passives.
  • I Call It "Vera": She mentions the origin of her sword's name in one of her lines.
"Toto's originally the name of the dog my friends and I would raise in our club room. He was big and strong, just like this sword!"
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: Her sword is a long Eldritch Abomination held together only by a very thin taping. Not too surprising since it's another Fragment of Truth.
  • Shout-Out Theme Naming: Matching the Project OZ story arc's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz theme, hers is the Cowardly Lion and Toto's is the dog Toto.

Team: Four Fiends
Subtitle: Nightmare Realization
"This place is filled with nightmares. I'll take care of them. Sleep tight, and don't you worry about bad dreams tonight."
A little girl who enters people's nightmares every night and collects them.

She is one of the protagonists of "The Moonless Night".

  • Animal Motifs: Sheep, due to her fluffy hair and horns and their association with sleep.
  • The Atoner: Her bio notes that she removes others' nightmares as "repentance rather than courtesy", because she sees herself as those nightmares given life.
  • But Now I Must Go: After using her true form to help Sigma stop Havenland from crashing at the end of "Neverland Nevermore", Lulu tells her that she needs to leave to avoid awakening the other Fiends with her presence and to recuperate.
  • Curse: During the climax of "The Moonless Night", she curses Madam Heron to suffer a nightmare every single night as punishment for traumatizing the children that Wizard kidnapped.
  • Cute Monster Girl: She has sheep horns on her head. They weren't there when she first met Glinda, but after she took a nightmare from a homeless person in front of Glinda she's always shown with them, implying that they're permanent.
  • Forced Sleep: Her Ultimate inflicts Sleep on all non-Mech non-Boss enemies for 5 seconds (7 seconds at Skill Level 5), during which they lose up to 15% Defense.
    • In Gauntlets, her Ultimate has extra conditions and effects: it also inflicts Sleep on her non-Mech allies, the duration on each unit depends on their Deployment Cost (3 seconds for Cost 3 or less, 5 seconds for Cost 4 or more, plus 2 more seconds on enemies at Skill Level 5), and her allies recover 3% of their max HP per second while asleep by this skill.
  • Lunacy: Her abilities seem to be tied to the moon, as Lulu tiring herself out causes the moon to appear fuzzy. When she exhausts herself completely to cure the children held by Wizard, the moon disappears entirely.
  • Nice Girl: Overall very kind, well-meaning, and selfless, and rarely shows ill will toward anyone. Except Madam Heron, who deserved all the nightmares Lulu gave her and then some.
  • One-Winged Angel: A heroic example. In the climax of "Neverland Nevermore", she transforms into her true form, a giant sheep-like creature, to help Sigma stop Havenland from crashing on a populated city.
  • Protectorate: After the adventure she had with Lulu during "The Moonless Night", Glinda finds herself unable to leave Lulu alone.

"Hello! I heard you're looking for an unbelievably fast deliverywoman. Here I am, right on time!"
The top-ranked deliverywoman of Platina Express.

She is a supporting ally in "Vice President's Holidays", and she's a supporting character in "Otherworld Delivery Disaster".

  • Bland-Name Product: Her food delivery backpack has logos of "Sunday" (Subway), "Pizza Cat" (Pizza Hut), "Starseeker" (Starbucks), and "Dragon Bull" (Red Bull).
  • Dimensional Traveler: Her teleportation isn't limited to short distances and can cross into different worlds entirely. In "Vice President's Holidays" she briefly takes Lone Lee on an interdimensional trip for materials, and in "Otherworld Delivery Disaster" she mentions that Platina Express is built on this ability as an interdimensional delivery company.
  • Expy: Of Sonic the Hedgehog; she wields super speed, she can't swim, and chili dogs are her favorite food. She even has "Super Sonic" written on her shirt.
  • Kick Chick: Her basic attacks, Special, and Ultimate are all various types of kicks.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: As a Patrol unit, she bounces between two points on either side of her spot.
  • Mundane Utility: Her Counter ability allows her to move at extremely high speeds, described by Sooyeon as short-distance teleportation, which can be extended to jump into entirely new dimensions, and it's extremely rare even among Counters. Naturally, it comes in very handy in her job as a deliverywoman.
  • Rollerblade Good: She uses rollerblades as her primary form of transportation (not that she needs much else with her speed).
  • Superpower Lottery: Another big winner in the setting, with even Sooyeon noting just how formidable her actual abilities are. For reference, dimensional travel for the Old Administration required special high-end Applied Phlebotinum equipment, yet she does it as a day job.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Chili dogs.
  • Underwear of Power: Her speedo leaves her legs bare (aside from her knee protection).
  • Weaksauce Weakness: In spite of being a fairly powerful Counter, she can't swim.

Police SWAT 4

    As a group

Former Members: Kang Minwoo, Stronghold (Black Tide's founder)

  • Fair Cop: Given the art style of the game, neither of them is bad-looking in the slightest.
  • Lovely Angels: They share many of the hallmarks of a Buddy Cop Show's main characters, with Yumi being the by-the-book stickler and Kang being the renegade Cowboy Cop. However, they both play with the respective roles under the surface, as Yumi is the naive, reckless newbie while Kang is the experienced veteran who knows the ropes. What doesn't change is that they're fairly good at their job (if prone to The Worf Effect due to sometimes ending up as the Sympathetic Inspector Antagonist).
  • One Riot, One Ranger: They're effectively a two-woman police department for tackling Counter crimes. They do sometimes call in Black Tide as backup for sticky situations, though.
  • Shout-Out: Their April Fools' Day themed "skins" (which only change their Live2D portraits) are titled "Prepare for Trouble" and "Make it Double". Any doubts about it being deliberate is dispelled by the description of Yumi's portrait:
"Young Major Lee Yumi runs around every day to protect the world from devastation and unite all people for the security."
  • Sympathetic Inspector Antagonist: They show up in a handful of side stories trying (and usually failing) to apprehend the protagonist, usually after said protagonist was framed for a crime.

"I'm Lieutenant Kang Soyoung from SWAT 4. Leave the driving to me, I'm second to none when it comes to high-speed chases."
A veteran officer of SWAT 4, a special division that deals with criminal Counters.

She is a main character in "SWAT 4: Unofficial Investigation" and an ally in Episodes 4 and 5.

  • Badass Normal: Just a regular policewoman whose department is specialized to fight Counters.
  • Balance Buff: Given a rearm that increases her Anti-Sniper capabilities.
  • Cape Busters: She specializes in dealing with Counter-based crimes, and part of her job is being able to out-think people that have a definitive advantage over her in terms of sheer power.
  • Cowboy Cop: Her Counter Case reveals that she joined the force mainly to be legally able to ignore speed limits.
  • Drives Like Crazy: Weaponized. Her deployment has her driving her policecar into the enemy, after which it explodes.
  • Hidden Depths: Behind her playful, cheery demeanor, she's very good at reading people and has a track record of being able to outsmart Counters. Her Counter Case reveals that she used to break track records as a racecar driver a few years back. She also has a strong sense of duty, as she elected to remain in SWAT 4 even as her colleagues either died or left, because someone has to do the job.
  • Hollywood Police Driving Academy: She's not a bad driver, but absolutely a reckless one; her in-game bio implies that she makes a habit out of crashing patrol cars (usually into Counter perps). In "For the Uncrying", the Stronghold leading Black Tide shows apprehension about letting her drive their APC, and sure enough, she plows it right into Horizon. Horizon was completely unharmed.
  • Kicked Upstairs: For the longest time, she was seen as a throwaway member of the force due to being the last remaining member of SWAT 4. It wasn't until Yumi joined her that the department started being taken seriously again.
  • Last-Name Basis: Unlike most characters, Kang tends to be referred to by her surname, often with her title included.
  • Nerf: Removed the True Damage buff on her rearm, largely due to people using her primarily on the enemy ship.
  • Summon Magic: Her Where's the Location? passive summons a Shieldman alongside her. At level 5, it summons Stronghold instead.

"I came here to enforce the laws. Please keep non-powered incompetents away from me. I don't want any obstructions."
A By-the-Book Cop who wants all criminals arrested.

She is a main character in "SWAT 4: Unofficial Investigation" and an ally in Episodes 4 and 5.

  • Black-and-White Morality: When she first joined the force, she initially had zero tolerance for criminals. Her Side Story and Counter Cases show her being a bit more hesitant to act when she gets context on why people did crimes.
  • By-the-Book Cop: Follows police protocols to the letter, and Kang's antics cause no end of exasperation for her.
  • Goal in Life: The scene unlocked with her Cookie Store Regular skin reveals that her childhood dream was to both run a bakery and protect the people she loves. Her parents' deaths and her sister maintaining distance between them so that she can continue as a vigilante after Episode 9.5 make that second goal a distant one.
  • Judge, Jury, and Executioner: The SWAT 4 side story has her attempting at one point to execute a user of Elixir (an illegal Fantastic Drug that gives people Healing Factor and Counter-like powers at the cost of horrible side effects). Said user is a schoolgirl who used it both in response to bullying and to test it on herself under the belief it would help her injured brother, and she did so without actually getting authorization to use lethal force, no less. She eventually grows out of the mindset, though.
  • Lawful Stupid: Her initial mindset is "illegal is illegal, no matter what". Being around Kang helps her gain perspective about criminals and their motives.
  • Leeroy Jenkins: Enforced. Her passive grants increased Evasion and decreased attack when deployed. In-story, Kang (lightly) chews her out for her tendency to run in by herself with no plan and no backup, stating that previous recruits who acted like her and let their emotions (particularly their hatred of criminal Counters) get the better of them was exactly the sort of thing that led to SWAT 4 getting their support cut in the first place.
  • Like Father, Like Daughter: Episode 9.5 reveals that her father was also a cop who handled violent crimes. Their last family outing being in ARC-KS1 implies that he was part of that city's police.
  • Parental Abandonment: She lost her parents when a criminal Counter broke into their home.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Red to Kang Soyoung's Blue.
  • Super Cop: A Counter working for the police.
  • Sweet Tooth: The scene unlocked with her "Cookie Store Regular" skin reveals that she developed one as a child after the CEO met her back then and offered her a pastry.
  • Tsundere: She's abrasive with practically everyone. Shows a softer side if you Lifetime Contract her.

The current chief of the Prydwen Institution.

She first appears in "Sweet Promotion".

  • Action Initiative: Can be deployed anywhere on the map.
  • Aloof Dark-Haired Girl: While she's not the tallest of the group and a brunette, her height is above average and she does have a professional demeanor.
  • Balance Buff: Was given a Rearm which increases her attacking abilities and her ability to land anywhere on the map.
  • Brits Love Tea: To her, tea is Serious Business.
Elizabeth: (when poked) There are more gentlemanly ways to express your interest in a lady. Treating her to hot tea, for example.
  • Dynamic Entry: Drops in at an angle, prefiring knives where she lands.
  • English Rose: Prydwen are based out of England , and she's a noble Proper Lady with a sense of duty and a deceptively steely personality.
  • Flechette Storm: She fights with a seemingly endless supply of throwing knives. Her special in particular has her hurling a volley of them to attack enemies in front of her.
  • Glass Cannon: She has high attack power, a Dynamic Entry designed to take out backline, and an Ultimate which is a Critical Hit when upgraded, but she also has abysmal defense and less than reliable evasion.
  • Hero Antagonist: She serves an antagonistic role in "Old Fear" due to that side story taking place from the perspective of Regina MacCready and the ESPR.
  • I Owe You My Life: Sir Burnett kept her safe during an attack from the ESPR, and she extends this life debt into employing his grandson Roy to the Prydwen Institution.
  • Lady of War: Prim, proper, and very deadly with her knives.
  • Meaningful Name: Named after the Pendragons, a name attached to King Ulther Pendragon, a King of Britain and father to King Arthur, and she shares her given name with two of the most famous Queens of Britain.
  • Power Gives You Wings: Gains a pair of angelic white wings in her Rearm, implied by fluff text to be manifested by her Counter powers. They don't seem to allow actual flight, though, at least in-game.
  • Sexy Backless Outfit: In her default outfit, she has a cut out in her dress that bares her back and shows she is not wearing a bra. She can also be dressed up in a more revealing bunny girl outfit that not only is strapless, but also bares her back like her default attire.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: With Regina MacCready. In "Great Witch's Legacy", she calls Regina while the latter is on live TV, to say her inability to act scary is disappointing to see in a rival.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Her Counter Case suggests that she's afraid of the dark.
  • Younger Than They Look: Despite her regal demeanor and high class, she's in her late teens.

  • Limit Break: Wild Skip Chain.
  • Upper-Class Twit: His family is fairly poor, but due to his grandfather's work he's relatively better off.

    Sir Burnett
Roy Burnett's grandfather, he was a former member of the Prydwen Institution.
  • The Ace: He's considered one of the best, if not the best member in all of Prydwen's history, and many of its older members claim that his skills surpassed all of theirs. Roy's a bit startled by this.
  • Posthumous Character: Roy's second Counter Case confirms that Sir Burnett has already passed away.
