    In General
  • Audience Surrogate: Everyone in the Anime House serves as the general audience's critiques regarding the various pros and cons of their series.
  • Fantastic Racism: They show shades of this towards the Cartoon House, refusing to respect or acknowledge their strength and skill, even to the ones of Animesque origins.
  • Ki Manipulation: Most of the heroes of the Anime House are capable of this; such as Goku, Vegeta, Yusuke, Naruto, Sasuke, Inuyasha, Luffy, etc.
  • Lucky Seven: The selected strongest of the Anime heroes chosen to guard the Dragon Balls are: Goku, Luffy, Ichigo, Tanjiro, Yusuke, Itadori, and Saitama. Ironically, they, and Naruto, all end up either dead (Goku, Luffy, Ichigo, Tanjiro, and Yusuke), possessed (Yuji), or MIA (Saitama). Though the OVA reveals that Luffy survives his battle against Madara thanks to his Plot Armor and Bond Villain Stupidity on the Shinobi's part.
  • Rotating Protagonist: Each segment focuses on a different character.
  • Spotlight-Stealing Squad: Out of all the characters from the Anime House, L, Light, Goku, Vegeta, and Yusuke clearly get the lion’s share of focus, causing basically everyone else to be left dwindling in the void.
  • Stock Shōnen Hero: A lot of the male heroes in the Anime House have this characterization which makes sense given the success of Goku from Dragon Ball.
  • Super Team: Played with. While they will work together at times, overall, they're simply roommates.

Major Characters

    Yusuke Urameshi

Yusuke Urameshi

Portrayed by: Mark Phillips
Origin: YuYu Hakusho

  • Ambiguous Situation: While it's clear that his initial fight against Shinji is nothing more than a Curb-Stomp Battle, it's unclear whether or not Shinji would've killed him by using his "hand of the storm" technique as he was stopped by Tetsuo. On the other hand, Yusuke believes he would've won regardless of what Shinji could throw at him.
  • Berserk Button:
    • Do not make fun of his "pants", or his choice of attire.
    • He really doesn't like the newer Anime characters getting a big head just because the first season of their respective animes was good and often criticizes them for that.
    • In that same breath, he also doesn't like them calling him a Hypocrite, since in their eyes, his anime wasn't good either due to "low quality" and "not mentioned on social media"note .
    • Don't disrespect him or talk trash about his fighting skills.
    • In Episode 5, he gains one for the Netflix Anime characters coming into the Anime House despite their shows being minor or very obscured.
    • Also, do not mess with Keiko, or even sexually harass any of the women in the Anime House. The "fanservice" cameraman finds this out the hard way.
  • Blue Is Heroic: His Spirit Energy is blue as seen when firing his "Spirit Gun", but Yusuke is more anti-heroic rather than a straight example.
  • Brutal Honesty: He has no problems with speaking his mind and pointing out the uncomfortable truths that others would avoid, often with mixed results.
  • Bullying the Dragon: He has no problems with causally threatening or boasting about beating up those who are more powerful than him.
  • Calling Your Attacks: Does this whenever firing his Spirit Gun.
  • Character Catchphrase: He sure loves to use the word, "Bastard".
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: He doesn't like the idea of Keiko hanging out with Tengen despite the latter having three wives (whom Yusuke wonders of their whereabouts in the interview) and was only chaperoning her beach trip with the other female anime characters.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Often does this at times, especially if he's annoyed.
  • Delinquent Hair: In his series, Yusuke's hair is frequently styled in the form of a pompadour. In Anime House however, he has messy Shonen Hair instead.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Despite having his own perverted moments of pulling up Keiko's skirt in his own series, he's disgusted by the cameraman's constant attempts to take non-consensual and sexually inappropriate pictures of the Anime House's female members for "Fanservice", especially with Keiko being involuntarily involved.
  • Finger Gun: Yusuke's Spirit Gun is one that fires, like in his series.
  • Good Old Fisticuffs: If he doesn't use his Spirit Gun, or resorts to using it first, then he would use his fists to fight.
  • Hand Blast: Yusuke's signature move is the Spirit Gun, which fires energy blasts from the index finger.
  • Irony: He's a Heroic Bastard whose catchphrase is "Bastard".
  • Nerves of Steel: Most of his roommates are heavy hitters in their series, yet Yusuke has no problem with confronting them anytime with no fear of retaliation despite the power difference.
  • Off with His Head!: It's heavily implied that his head was torn off after taking a direct punch from Akaza, who has Super-Strength despite the possibly that he's weakened by the sunlight, along with the fact that Hisoka's bungee gum technique kept Yusuke's feet stuck to the ground.
  • Rebellious Spirit: Yusuke is a delinquent who cares little for school work and has very little to no respect for male authority figures.
  • Shonen Hair: Has this type of hairstyle in Anime House instead of his pompadour.
  • Smarter Than They Look: Yusuke may be Book Dumb but he's a genius at fighting. Also, he shows a good amount of insight regarding pop culture and critiques new and upcoming anime for its pros and cons...though with mixed results.
  • Super-Strength: He's physically strong enough to be able to confront and harm many of the other heavy hitters in the Anime House and Villain House.
  • When All You Have Is a Hammer…: Again, like in his series, his solution to any problem is hitting it with his fists or firing the Spirit Gun.

    Vegeta

Vegeta

Portrayed by: Desmond Johnson
Origin: Dragon Ball

  • Action Dad: Like Goku, he's also a father with a son named Trunks.
  • Always Second Best: Deconstructed as the idea of Goku being stronger than him and not getting any respect causes Vegeta to pull a Face–Heel Turn at the end of Episode 4.
  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: He begs Goku to help him in Episode 6, as he's being controlled by Aizen to help decimate the Anime House and steal the Dragon Balls.
  • Big "WHAT?!": He utters this when reading the script of Dragon Ball Super and finding out that he gets beat by Cabba.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Does to Goku in Episode 5, by sucker punching him and then giving him a vicious knockout punch when he was already down and loses Super Saiyan Blue. All while framing the whole thing as proof that Goku is weak and that he's the strongest in the interview.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Vegeta lambasting the script of Dragon Ball Super mirrors the Vocal Minority regarding the Power Creep, Power Seep between the veteran and newcomers of the series.
  • Evil Is Easy: Deconstructed. When he realizes that he won't be getting stronger in the Anime House, he turns to the Villain House to get a power boost from Babidi. However, he never actually beats Goku in a "fair fight", especially since the latter isn't focused on fighting him at the moment, is barely respected in the Villain House, gets curb-stomped by Frieza, and later gets brainwashed by Aizen to kill Goku and decimate the Anime House in Episode 6.
  • Evil Laugh: He does this no less than three times in Episode 5. The first one after sending Goku flying across the field when the latter wasn't expecting the sneak attacks. The second one was in the form of a chuckle before giving the powered-down and confused Goku a vicious knock-out punch. Finally, the third one after bragging in the interview that he's now the strongest and that Goku is "weak".
  • Face–Heel Turn: Downplayed. He joins the Villain House after his ego can no longer tolerate the lack of respect towards him (i.e. "The Prince of all Saiyans") and Goku being Always Someone Better. However, he never really becomes "evil" per se (e.g. everyone in the Villain House treats him as a No-Respect Guy and doesn't mind if he goes back to the Anime House), and only intends to prove his superiority to Goku.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: One of his major traits and pet peeves in Anime House is that he's Always Second Best to Goku.
  • Insane Troll Logic: Played for Laughs. He comes to the conclusion that himself being the strongest while Goku is weak after sucker-punching him and then knocking him out after he's down. Adding in on that, Goku wasn't even focusing on him at the time due to Alien X.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: To showcase just how dire the situation is in Episode 6 with the Villain House's plans, Vegeta discards his pride and straight up begs Goku to help him break free from Aizen's controll.
  • Rival Turned Evil: He performs a Face–Heel Turn and goes to the Villain House to gain the power to become the strongest Saiyan. However, this is downplayed as he only gets slightly worse than outright evil.
  • Sneak Attack: He does this to Goku by Flash Stepping behind him and killing him with a combined punch to the head in Episode 6.
  • Stock Shōnen Rival: The Trope Codifier to Goku's own trope codifier of the Stock Shōnen Hero.
  • I Surrender, Suckers: When Goku points out that it's not a good time for them to fight as there's still Alien X to deal with, Vegeta concedes...only to give a brutal gut punch when Goku wasn't looking and another punch to the face that sent the latter flying across the field.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Downplayed as he was already a jerk, but he becomes a bit worse when going over to the Villain House.

    Son Goku

Son Goku / (Saiyan birthname: Kakarot)

Portrayed by: Leland Manigo
Origin: Dragon Ball

  • Action Dad: He's the strongest Saiyan warrior and is a father to two sons, Gohan and Goten.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: He's usually a happy-go-lucky Nice Guy, but he's the strongest Saiyan warrior of the Anime House.
  • Blood Knight: He's always ready for a fight to break his limits.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Due to him being a Genius Ditz, certain things would fly over his head.
    • Yusuke tells Goku point-blank that the latter is neglecting his two sons in favor of physical training and spars, especially to the point where Piccolo is basically raising them. Not only does the implications fly over Goku's head by stating Gohan and Goten are fine he also says that he can feel his limits pushing to the brink. This prompts Yusuke to give up convincing Goku while also calling him a "deadbeat".
    • As Vegeta chastises Goku for eating all the food and not saving any for the rest of them, the latter replies that it's not a big deal as they can always make more...only for Vegeta to point out that it took them half a day to make it.
  • Challenge Seeker: It goes hand-in-hand with his Blood Knight tendencies, which is deconstructed since it grates on the nerves of some of the other Anime characters as they get tired of his daily challenges.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: He does this to Vegeta in Episode 1, complete with him not having a scratch on him while the latter has Clothing Damage.
  • Fatal Flaw: Like in his show, his Blood Knight tendencies and overly trusting nature. While Goku is sharp and can strategize in a fight, his eagerness to test his limits can be taken advantage of by others such as Yusuke setting up against Saitama. His overly trusting nature also causes him to overlook the obvious hostility that Majin-SSB Vegeta has for him which leads to him getting brutally knocked out. In the end, these two flaws eventually result in his death in Episode 6.
  • Genius Ditz: As a martial artist, or anything involving his physical abilities, he's practically a genius, along with being surprisingly tech-savvy. Other than that, he's incredibly Book Dumb, socially naive, and overly trusting.
  • Parental Neglect: He gets called out for this by Yusuke, as he focuses on training and fighting all the time instead of being with his two sons. When Goku Comically Missing the Point by saying that they're both fine and with Piccolo, Yusuke only points out that is "a whole 'nother nigga raising [his] kids!". Again, the "harsher implications" fly over Goku's head and he says that he can still feel other limits to reach, which Yusuke gives up by calling him a "deadbeat".
  • Stock Shōnen Hero: The Trope Codifier himself.
  • Super Mode: Super Saiyan Blue.
  • World's Strongest Man: Overlapping with World's Best Warrior. Everyone in the Anime House considers Goku to be the strongest fighter (Saitama being the exception due to him being more of a Deus ex Machina), with the only one willing to answer Goku's daily challenges is Vegeta.

    Light Yagami

Light Yagami / Kira

Portrayed by: Mark Phillips
Origin: Death Note

  • Achilles' Heel:
    • Like in his show, the Death Note doesn't work unless he knows the name and face of the person he's trying to kill, which gives him great frustration that he doesn't know L's real name till the end of Episode 2.
    • As seen in Episode 4, the Death Note doesn't work on people with Only One Name.
  • Artifact of Doom: He uses the Death Note, which can kill anyone by writing their full name down.
  • Bad Liar: Played with. He can lie well to others when being Beneath Suspicion, but to those who can see through his lies, he can only grasp at straws for convenience.
  • Beneath Suspicion: Deconstructed. Despite everyone being aware of Light's Bitch in Sheep's Clothing/Wolf in Sheep's Clothing antics from his series, nobody suspects Light of actually being a murderous mastermind because he's just "acting" besides L, Near, and those who dealt with people like him. It doesn't end well for the heroes of the Anime House once he orchestrates a plan with Madara and the Villain House to steal the Dragon Balls.
  • Big "NO!": This is followed by an increasing volume of "no's" beforehand after seeing Orochimaru resurrect L at the beginning of Episode 4.
Light: (after Orochimaru resurrects L) Nooo...nooooo...NO!!!
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Like in his own show, Light puts on a friendly facade in front of the heroes of the Anime house, but he's really a villainous schemer with a very short temper beneath the exterior.
  • Broken Ace: Intelligent, athletic, handsome, and accomplished in a social-economical sense. But beneath all of that, is a dangerously unstable Knight Templar with delusions of godhood.
  • Child of Two Worlds: A variation. Due to his unique status as a Villain Protagonist, he's capable of going in and out of both the Anime House and Villain House. As well as sneaking any villainous Anime characters into the Anime House, as seen with Ryuk.
  • Deadpan Snarker: He tends to do this in his inner monologue.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Light may be an incredibly smart guy and is proven to be capable of manipulation, but his numerous Fatal Flaws still cause plenty of holes in his plans.
    • Played for Laughs in Episode 1. He tries to Opt Out in pitching in to pay for his and the others' meal by conveniently "forgetting" to bring his wallet, only for L to have already brought it along with him.
    • Near the end of Episode 3, he was confident that Orochimaru was on his side and wouldn't oblige with Near's request of reviving L. Not only was Light shocked that Orochimaru obliged, but he also conveniently forgets that Orochimaru is a villain whose only loyalty is himself and is known to backstab others at a given notice in Naruto.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: While he's usually calm and collected on the outside, deep down, he's also got a nasty temper involving anything relating to his ego, as seen in his inner monologue throughout Anime House. In fact, messing with his ego is a surefire way to set him off, as well as things not going his way.
  • Knight Templar: Although he does acknowledge his status and actions as villainous this time around, he still intends on creating a world that fits his vision of peace.
  • Light Is Not Good: He wears a white dress shirt and light-colored pants, and has a name that is literally "Light" in English with a very unusual Alternate Character Reading of "Moon" in the Japanese naming convention. He's also the Villain Protagonist of his own show and is one of the main viewpoint characters in Anime House.
  • Mask of Sanity: He puts on an intelligent and charming facade in front of the heroes of the Anime House, but beneath the facade is an egotistical and delusional Serial Killer who seeks godhood.
  • Non-Action Big Bad: He's one of the Big Bads of Anime House, but he rarely fights due to many other Anime heroes and villains being much more skilled fighters than him.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: Whenever he gets riled up, Light has a surprisingly dirty mouth.
  • Smug Smiler: He tends to smile smugly whenever he gets the upper hand.
  • Squishy Wizard: He's a force to be reckoned with when using the Death Note. But without it, Light isn't that great of a fighter nor does he have superpowers and has to rely on his wits and being Beneath Suspicion to overcome obstacles.
  • Too Clever by Half: Like in his own show, Light's intelligence and pride often lead to his plans having holes in them, especially of how other people would react and do at crucial moments.
    • A good example is when he is so assured of himself that Orochimaru is on his side and as a member of the Villain House, he wouldn't want to help the heroes anyway, only to be shocked that Orochimaru did go with Near's request. It seems to fly over Light's head that the Snake Shinobi is on no one's side but his own and because he is a villain and has nothing to lose if Light's true nature is exposed.
    • Then when Light went on a Roaring Rampage of Revenge against Orochimaru soon after L's revival, now armed with the Shinigami Eyes, he also killed off any of the villains in his way. By the time he got to Orochimaru and wrote his name down with glee, he not only quickly found out that the Death Note doesn't work on people without a full name but he now made himself an enemy of both houses with his true motives at risk of being exposed to the Anime House and later with L confronting him with a Shared Fate Ultimatum.
  • Villain Protagonist: Of his own show and in Anime House, being one of the focused characters. This becomes a plot point in the OVA, as he already had Plot Armor all along and has now lost it due to the wish he and the Villain House made in Episode 6.
  • Wolf in Sheep's Clothing: Light is a murderous mastermind who puts up a front as a kind man and ally of the Anime House.

    L

L / L Lawliet

Portrayed by: Dylan Patel
Origin: Death Note

  • Arch-Enemy: To Light Yagami.
  • Death Is Cheap: He dies at the beginning of Episode 3 due to Light finding out his real name at the end of the previous episode, but he gets resurrected at the beginning of Episode 4 thanks to Orochimaru.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Despite keeping his real name under wraps, he didn't anticipate that his real name would be written on any mail addressed to him.
  • Killed Offscreen: Light mentions L to be dead during the OVA, implying that he was executed some time after the Season Finale.
  • Stronger Than They Look: Just like in Death Note, L boasts that Light must think he's weak after punching him out of anger, before giving him the one-two combo.
  • Shared Fate Ultimatum: Invoked. After coming Back from the Dead at the beginning of Episode 4, L uses the Death Note to tie his own life to Light if the latter tries to kill him again. Doesn't work as Light is able to adapt around this and succeed in the decimation of the Anime House in Episode 6.
  • Troll: Does this to Light in the first two episodes whenever the latter tries to lie his way out of anything.

Supporting Characters

    Spike Spiegel

Spike Spiegel

Portrayed by: Ben Skinner
Origin: Cowboy Bebop

  • Anti-Hero: In his own show, he's a bounty hunter whose main concern is the monetary gain from capturing wanted criminals. Though, he's not without standards.
  • Badass Boast: When Inuyasha starts losing his patience with him to the point of shoving him, Spike calmly warns him not to do that and boasts that both of them would know that he (a trained assassin with a gun) can "drop" him (a Human-Demon Hybrid wielding a powerful sword).
  • The Cassandra: The most consistent trait he has throughout Anime House is that he can never convince anyone, aside from L and later Near, that Light isn't a hero until it is too late.
  • Handguns: His primary weapon is a customized IMI Jericho 941 R chambered in 9x19mm.
  • Good Is Not Nice: Downplayed as he's not really a Jerkass, just sarcastic and witty.
  • Jerkass to One: While he's usually his sarcastic and witty self to everyone else, he's a bit more antagonistic to Light. Often criticizes him and points out his obvious bullshit, which is justified considering that Light is a Bitch in Sheep's Clothing.
  • No-Sell: The only one of the Anime House beside L to see through Light's Bitch in Sheep's Clothing persona. He also doesn't get fooled by Naruto's claim that he was just trying to see everyone when he was really subtly, and failingly, checking out Boa Hancock and unfairly punishes Boruto for calling him out on it.
  • Only Sane Man: The only one in the Anime House aside from L to be rightfully suspicious of Light.
  • Oral Fixation: Even when he's not smoking, he usually has a cigarette in his mouth.
  • Properly Paranoid: Of Light Yagami, as he's the only one besides L to be suspicious of him regardless of the others pointing out that Light is "only a bad guy in his own show". In the end, he was right about Light's true nature and the eventual damage he does in Episode 6.
  • Smoking Is Cool: Is constantly seen with a cigarette in his mouth and is a total badass.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Justified when he goes up against Robin in Episode 5, since the latter attacked first and is currently invading the Anime House along with the other Cartoon characters.

    Inuyasha

Inuyasha

Portrayed by: Desmond Johnson
Origin: Inuyasha

  • Ancestral Weapon: The Tessaiga was once wielded by his father.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Like in his own show, he's openly grumpy, with a base state of "mildly irritated", and it doesn't take much to set him off. He nearly starts a fight with Spike after his patience is tested in the very first episode.
  • Human-Demon Hybrid: He's a half-dog yōkai.
  • Not a Morning Person: He prefers to sleep in and only wake up at a certain time.
  • Red Is Heroic: He wears a red kimono and is an Anti-Hero.

    Sasuke Uchiha

Sasuke Uchiha

Portrayed by: Dylan Patel
Origin: Naruto (formerly), Boruto (Current)

  • Beware the Quiet Ones: He rarely talks and usually stands in a corner. But he's a powerful Shinobi on par with Naruto.
  • Dark Secret: Episode 6 reveals that he's secretly seeing a woman behind Sakura's back.
  • Handicapped Badass: Of his own choice. Unlike Naruto, Sasuke doesn't get a replacement arm but it doesn't dull his badassery in the slightest.
  • Man of Kryptonite: Downplayed, as Sasuke is only this to Aizen's Kyōka Suigetsu's Shikai, which allows Aizen to put one under complete hypnosis (i.e. complete control of the target's five senses). However, the match is implied to be cut short due to both fighters getting too serious for sparring sessions, so we don't see how heavily this impacts Sasuke and Aizen's matchup outside of evening the playing field.
  • No-Sell: Thanks to his Sharingan and Rinnegan, he can easily break free of Aizen's Kanzen Saimin.
  • Master Swordsman: Courtesy of Bukijutsu, and he primarily uses a sword.
  • One-Armed Warrior: He only has one arm, but is still a deadly Shinobi.

    Naruto Uzumaki

Naruto Uzumaki

Portrayed by: John Newton
Origin: Naruto (formerly), Boruto (Current)

  • Action Dad: He's the strongest Shinobi and father to Boruto.
  • Awesomeness by Analysis: The moment he sees Frieza as his training partner, it firmly proves in his mind that the training exercise set up by the producers is fake.
  • Battle Aura: He flairs up his Six Paths Sage Mode in preparation to fight Frieza.
  • Doting Parent: To Boruto, often chastising the younger Anime characters for excluding his son in their activities and promoting that his son's show is just as good as his own...with mixed results.
  • Me's a Crowd: The Shadow Clone Jutsu, though he's only seen using this in the opening of Episode 5.
  • Not a Game: "I know this isn't training. Cause why would they send [Frieza]?"
  • Parent-Child Team: With his son Boruto, whether it be training or promoting the latter's show.
  • Power Palms: He uses Rasengan, which is a one-handed Jutsu that allows him to form a ball of concentrated and rotating Chakra on his palm. Like with the Shadow Clone Jutsu, he's only seen using this in the opening of Episode 5 in its "Big Ball" variant and later uses it again while showing off with the Big Three plus Aizen.
  • The Worf Effect: Although his Boruto-era self is relatively weaker (emphasis on relative) due to the ongoing peaceful times in his son's Spin-Offspring series, he's regarded as the most powerful Shinobi in the world. In Episode 6, however, he gets killed quite easily by a casual Death Beam to the right lung by Frieza, even after going into his Six Paths Sage Mode. This not only shows just how dangerous the villainous alien (especially since he has attained his "Black Frieza" Super Mode in the Super manga) is but also shows how driven the Villain House is to win.

    Ichigo Kurosaki

Ichigo Kurosaki

Portrayed by: Ben Skinner
Origin: Bleach

  • Achilles' Heel:
    • Since his current form is entirely made of Reishi (i.e. spirit particles), he's just as vulnerable to Kabuto's Chakra Scalpal as every other living being. But instead of killing him, it would only cause his Soul Reaper form to be paralyzed.
    • One of the surefire ways to kill a Soul Reaper is decapitation, which is what Orochimaru does to Ichigo in Episode 6.
  • Black Swords Are Better: His Zanpakutō, Zangetsu, and its true form are all black swords.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: He wears mostly black, his Zanpakutō is black, and the Reishi he unleashed is colored black, but he's one of the heroes.
  • Deader than Dead: He gets killed in his Soul Reaper form.
  • Katanas Are Just Better: His Zanpakutō is currently in its Bankai form; a black katana.
  • Master Swordsman: He's very capable of wielding his Zanpakutō, Zangetsu.
  • Off with His Head!: He gets his head cut off by Orochimaru's Kusanagi Sword in Episode 6.
  • Our Ghosts Are Different: He's always seen in his shinigami form; who has been granted tremendous supernatural powers to police the afterlife.
  • Sword Beam: Getsuga Tenshō!

    Izuku Midoriya

Izuku Midoriya

Portrayed by: Mark Phillips

  • Cassandra Truth: Double Subverted. When Izuku warns the other Anime characters currently upstairs that the Cartoon House is attacking, everyone believes him, but they don't take the threat seriously as "cartoons" are not at their level.
  • Didn't See That Coming: He wasn't prepared when Hisoka was capable of catching his punch in 'Full Cowling', and neither was he aware that Hisoka set a trap with his Bungee Gum.
  • Empowered Badass Normal: He was originally Quirkless, but is given One for All, one of the strongest Quirks in his show.
  • Endearingly Dorky: It wouldn't be Izuku if he wasn't his usually socially awkward and emotionally sensitive self.
  • Fast as Lightning: After Izuku starts beginning to safely use One For All at safe levels his body can handle with 'Full Cowling', his usage of the power is indicated by green lightning arcing off him rather than the Volcanic Veins that indicated where he was channeling the power beforehand. At this point, rather than using the full power of One For All for devastating but single-use attacks, Izuku becomes more primarily focused on utilizing the enhanced speed and mobility Full Cowling grants him to engage opponents. The more power he channels, the stronger and bigger the lightning that generates off him, though it appears to be purely a visual effect, as Izuku can handle both machines and people whilst in this state without electrocuting them.
  • Flash Step: He's capable of avoiding Hisoka's attacks through his Super-Speed.
  • Kiai: Invoked in Episode 1 by him yelling "Detriot Smash" when practicing for his show. Unfortunately, Izuku couldn't impress the Veteran Anime characters as he "lacked" something.
  • No-Respect Guy: Izuku finds himself in this position every now and then with his show being looked down on by the veteran anime protagonists, though it's downplayed he at least has more respect from others in comparison to Boruto and Shinji.
  • Not So Above It All: Despite being a Nice Guy, Izuku does have his moments of not being one.
    • In Episode 4, he, along with Tanjiro, Bam, and Senku, would often exclude Boruto from hanging out with them as even he doesn't respect Boruto's show.
    • In Episode 6, he digs into Asta's show falling off in his own way by stating that he came back "buff and shit" for no reason. He also rebukes Tanjiro's critique of his show by stating that "he wouldn't understand and that he's just like the rest of them".
  • Prone to Tears: He often sheds Tender Tears whenever he gets distressed, which is something that's constantly lampshaded by the other Anime characters.
  • Shirtless Scene: Doesn't wear a shirt in his first appearance in Anime House.
  • Speed Blitz: He does this against Hisoka using 'Full Cowling' to land an initial punch and try to confuse him to get an opening.
  • The Strategist: Deconstructed. He does this in Episode 3 against Hisoka, and after his initial attack fails, he comes up with a plan to avoid his attacks with his speed advantage and tire him out. But ultimately, Izuku fails to win the fight due to Hisoka's fighting experience, greater power, and creative use of his Nen ability, "Bungee Gum".
  • Super-Speed: He can run extremely fast thanks to 'Full Cowling'.
  • To Be a Master: He wants to become the #1 Hero like his idol, All Might.
  • The Worf Barrage: No matter how fast he is or what plan he comes up with, none of that works against Hisoka as the latter can easily counter him and manipulate him into a trap.

    Monkey D. Luffy

"Straw Hat" Monkey D. Luffy

Portrayed by: Mark Phillips
Origin: One Piece

  • Not Quite Dead: After seemingly being killed by Madara in Episode 6, the OVA not only reveals that he's alive, but he's also activated Gear 5, leading him to pull up to the New Villain House to lay out everyone there.

    Yugi Muto

Yugi Muto / Yami Yugi (Atem)

Portrayed by: Mark Phillips
Origin: Yu-Gi-Oh!

  • Berserk Button: Don't be an asshole to him, whether you lose or win, or Yami will appear.
  • Bully Hunter: Yami will come out whenever Yugi feels mistreated.
  • Crippling Overspecialization: Challenge Yugi to a video game, or any sort of game that doesn't involve strenuous physical activity, then he's a Godlike Gamer. Challenge him to an organized sport, that involves that sort of strenuous physical activity, then he'll be in trouble.
  • Irony: There's something funny about Yugi accepting invites to play basketball in Episode 3, as his first, original manga appearance has him turning down the offer to play basketball.
  • Mythology Gag: Yugi playing Basketball in Episode 3 is a contrast to the very first chapter of the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga where he turned down an invite from a classmate to play basketball.
  • Non-Action Guy: Like in his series, Yugi doesn't physically fight nor have the strength and aggression for it.
  • Secret Identity Vocal Shift: Whenever he shifts into Yami, his voice either becomes deeper or gains an electronic echo.
  • Signature Mon: Dark Magician and strangely, Obelisk the Tormentor.
  • Sore Loser: Inverted. Anytime Yugi were to lose in a game, he'd take it with stride. If you're being an asshole about your win, however, then prepare for Yami.
  • World's Best Warrior: Gamer in this sense, as he beats Vegeta in Jump Force in his debut appearance. Also, Yami could be anyone in Duel Monsters.

    Afro

Afro

Portrayed by: John Newton
Origin: Afro Samurai

    Saitama

Saitama / One-Punch Man

Portrayed by: Mark Phillips

  • Adapted Out: He's never called by his hero name, "Caped Baldy".
  • Blood Knight: Downplayed. He's always up for a fight to feel the thrill he once lost, but only if he thinks the opponent will be worth it.
  • Challenge Seeker: Played with. He would seek fights in order to regain the once-forgotten thrill of a real fight after being an Invincible Hero for so long, but only if the opponent's strength catches his eye as seen with Alien X.
  • Crippling Overspecialization: In a direct physical fight, or anything involving his physical abilities, Saitama is invincible. But anything outside of that, he'll range from average to near helpless.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle:
    • He does this Vegeta in Episode 2, even though he didn't want to fight him.
    • He does again in Episode 5, but against Alien X.
  • Deus ex Machina: He functions as this in Anime House. Whenever he appears for a battle, his victory is always ensured, and by extension, the Anime House. This works against the Anime House in episode 6 as he "forgot" to take the Dragon Ball he's supposed to guard, which ends up giving the Villain House the victory they seek.
  • Flat Character: He has minimal characterization besides being a selective Blood Knight and Challenge Seeker, and a Lazy Bum off the clock whenever he physically makes an on-screen appearance. But it's not always a bad thing and his forgone victories are always entertaining to watch.
  • Invincible Hero: Nobody can defeat Saitama in a physical fight, whether they be a hero or villain.
  • Irony: Aside from Saitama, he's referred to as "One-Punch Man" instead of "Caped Baldy", which is ironic given that inverse in his own series.
  • Lazy Bum: When off the clock, he would usually take naps for long periods of time.
  • One-Hit Kill: It's in his title, as he can defeat anyone and everyone with a single punch. If not, then he's not "trying" hard enough.
  • Perpetual Smiler: He's usually seen wearing a dopey grin on his face.
  • Powerful and Helpless: Just because he's an Invincible Hero who can singlehandedly beat anyone and everyone in a direct fight doesn't mean he's reliable nor is he immune to trickery, which ends up causing the Anime House to be devastated by the Villain House as they stole the last Dragon Ball since Saitama "forgot" to bring it with him.
  • The Stoic: He never raises his voice or gets overly excited.
  • Uncertain Doom: While everyone else's death is confirmed and they get killed on-screen, Saitama's fate remains uncertain despite Madara assuring Sukuna that he'll be dealt with, as his "training match" wasn't shown nor does Light's phone show that he was confirmed to be killed.
  • Whatever Happened to the Mouse?: His fate remains unknown after getting separated from the Anime House and "forgetting" to bring the Dragon Ball he was tasked with guarding in Episode 6.

    Asta

Asta

Portrayed by: Desmond Johnson
Origin: Black Clover

  • No Indoor Voice: He's usually loud when talking to others.
  • Spoiled Brat: Not to the extent of Boruto, but Asta is this in relation to music, as despite having a ton of openings for his show, whenever the music composer is around he just keeps demanding that the composer makes more opening songs for his show.

    Edward Elric

Edward "Ed" Elric

Portrayed by: Affiong Harris

  • Badass Bookworm: He's first seen reading a book and is confident of holding his own in a fight against Asta. He's also recruited by Near in order to help find the perpetrator of L's murder due to his intelligence.
  • Berserk Button: Don't call him short or anything along those lines.

Origin: Dr. STONE

    Shinra Kusakabe

Origin: Fire Force

    Tanjiro Kamado

Tanjiro Kamado

Portrayed by: Leland Manigo

  • Big Brother Instinct: He carries his only surviving and currently demonized sister in a box he carries on his back and would be protective of her if anyone tries to harm her.
  • Black Swords Are Better: While played straight in Anime House, it's subverted in his own show. Demon Slayers' swords take their color depending on the slayer who owns them. Tanjiro's black blade seems to be an oddity, and an ill omen of sorts - no slayer with a black blade ever became a Hashira.
  • Crippling Overspecialization: Downplayed. As part of the Demon Slayer Corps, Tanjiro's Breathing styles are focused more on exterminating the Demons in his own show but are capable of utilizing them against human and living opponents. However, it's played straight against a former Soul Reaper like Aizen, whose also a Long-Lived Master of All, as he's utterly helpless against him, even if Aizen is without his illusions.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: He meets a fatal end this way in Episode 6 after Aizen, through his illusions, tricks Tengen and Zenitsu into impaling him.
  • Making a Splash: Tanjiro's main Breathing Style is water, and he uses "Total Concentration, Water Breathing, Seventh Form" against Aang.
  • Playing with Fire: When going up against Aizen, Tanjiro decides to use Hinokami Kagura (i.e. Sun Breathing) for a single powerful attack.
  • Relative Button: Don't mess with Nezuko, as Yusuke threatens the kick the box off his back.
  • Sorry That I'm Dying: When it's clear to him that any chance of surviving Aizen is out of the question after using his strongest attack, Tanjiro only apologizes to Nezuko in his mind as Aizen raises his sword.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Only in comparison to the six chosen heroes to guard the Dragon Balls, as Tanjiro is relatively less experienced and doesn't possess the raw power they have, but he's a very skilled swordsman whose main Breathing styles (Water and Hinokami Kagura) makes him both adaptable and powerful. Though it's deconstructed against Aizen in Episode 6, as even without his illusions, Aizen is still a very, very powerful and Long-Lived experienced Soul Reaper whose a Master of All.
  • The Worf Barrage: He throws the strongest attack he knows with "Hinokami Kagura: Clear Blue Sky" at Aizen. Which the former Soul Reaper easily and casually No Sells by catching Tanjiro's sword with his fingers to show the very, very, immense power difference between them.

    Mob

Shigeo "Mob" Kageyama

Portrayed by: Dylan Patel

    Near

Near / Nate River

Portrayed by: Dylan Patel
Origin: Death Note

    Boruto Uzumaki

Boruto Uzumaki

Portrayed by: Desmond Johnson
Origin: Boruto

  • Antagonistic Offspring: Downplayed. He's not evil and certainly not one to Naruto. Instead, he's this to everyone in his age group in the Anime House due to his show not being very popular and being a Spoiled Brat.
  • Dark Is Evil: Downplayed. He wears a black coat and black pants but is considered a Spoiled Brat by nearly everyone in the Anime House, and often calls his dad to "encourage" others into including him in their activities.
  • Disappointed in You: A rare child-to-parent example in a non-verbal way. When Naruto expresses concern about the Cartoon House coming back one day, Boruto gives a disappointed stare at his father for being worried about the "cartoons" despite being the Hokage.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: None of the Anime characters in his age group "likes" Boruto and often exclude him from their usual activities, and it doesn't help that he would get his dad to shame them into letting him join.
  • Heroic Lineage: His father is Naruto, who is hailed as the savior of the world in his own show.
  • Parent-Child Team: With his father Naruto, whether it be training or promoting his own show.
  • Power Palms: Like his father, Boruto also knows the Rasengan, but can only use it in a smaller form. Also, he only does it in the opening.
  • Spoiled Brat: He takes this role among the new anime protagonists, often calling for Naruto to back him up if the others aren't letting him join in due to the lack of respect he has going for him, with Naruto himself constantly trying to keep things going well for Boruto and saying people should be able to see that his son's show is just as good as his own.

    Shinji

Shinji

Portrayed by: Leland Manigo

  • Ambiguous Situation: Shinji's anime series is an extremely obscured one In-Universe to the point that Yusuke isn't sure if it's a real show, as no matter what search engine he uses, "Shinji Adventures" doesn't pop up. It doesn't help with the "conveniently timed" fan coming in out of nowhere as Shinji's show is getting doubt from Naruto, Spike, and Yusuke, causing them to believe that it was a "crisis actor".
  • Big "NO!": He screams this in the Season 2 trailer of his anime.
  • High Hopes, Zero Talent:
    • When reviewing the first season of his anime and seeing his Season 2 trailer, Shinji gets excited about his series being possible "Big Three" material. However, Naruto, Spike, and Yusuke know it's not the case, and while the former two gently try to break the news to him, Yusuke, being Brutally Honest, just tells Shinji straight that it was the "sorriest" trailer he had ever seen and how it's "basic as fuck".
    • He's also not that great of a fighter as he was getting his ass initially handed to him by Yusuke, although it's played with with his "hand of the storm" technique, as Tetsuo stops him from using it as it would destroy the entire field.
  • No-Respect Guy: He is constantly berated by Yusuke for being from an extremely obscure (and fictional for reference, doesn't exist in real life) Netflix anime, Shinji Adventures.
  • Original Character: He's a completely original character to Anime House, with his Show Within a Show being an extremely obscured one In-Universe.
  • Purple Is Powerful: Implied. He wears a blue-purple vest and his "hand of the storm" technique involves his left arm briefly letting out purple smoke, but it's ambiguous if he's capable of killing Yusuke due to "Tetsuo" stopping him.

    Yuji Itadori

Yuji Itadori

Portrayed by: Mark Philips

  • Dark Is Not Evil: His attire is mostly black and is a Jujutsu Sorcerer whose Jujutsu is fuelled by Cursed Energy. But he's one of the heroes.
  • Demonic Possession: He gets possessed by Sukuna halfway into Episode 6.
  • Keet: He acts quite upbeat when joining the Anime House in Episode 5.
  • New Meat: Downplayed. Upon joining the Anime House in Episode 5, he's treated neutrally by others with only a few of them having doubts of his show being "legendary".
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: Averted with Yuji. Despite wearing primary red and black in his usual attire, he's a Nice Guy. Sukuna on the other hand...
  • Unwitting Pawn: To Sukuna and the Villain House in Episode 6.

    Armin Arlert

Armin Arlert

Portrayed by: Desmond Johnson

    Lelouch Lamperouge

Lelouch Lamperouge / Lelouch vi Britannia / Zero / Julius Kingsley / 99th Emperor of Britannia

Portrayed by: Ben Skinner
Origin: Code Geass

  • Ascended Meme: Played for Drama in a dark example. A popular trend in the anime fandom is how often Lelouch and his own show are "similar" to Light and his show, and it should come as no surprise that he's revealed to be allied with him in Episode 6 and helped destroy the Anime House. At the same time, it would also be pointed out that Light and Lelouch are two very different characters and that their shows don't have much in common once you dive into their storylines, which gets Played for Laughs in the OVA upon the reveal of Light's plan behind the stolen Dragon Balls; to gain Plot Armor, but overlooks the very important fact that he was already a protagonist in Death Note despite being a Villain, which in turn, would also cause Lelouch to lose his own protagonist status since he was one in his own show as well.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Just like in canon, Lelouch loves his little sister Nunnally so much, that he becomes Zero and starts a war against Britannia so he can make a better world for her to live in. This is what also motivates him to solve the case of who killed L at the end of Episode 5 due to the reward being a wish granted by the Dragon Balls, until Light works out a deal with him to decimate the Anime House to steal the Dragon Balls instead.
  • Big "WHAT?!": When he uses his Geass on Light to reveal if he knew who killed L, Light states that he doesn't (thanks to his Memory Gambit), causing him to exclaim a shocked, "Wait, what?", since the Geass is absolute and can force those under its thrall to reveal the truth of what they knew. It's also heavily implied that his reaction was genuine since it's also implied that Light recruited him after getting his memories back, leading to him doing a 180° by clearing up Light's name in the next episode.
  • The Mole: Episode 6 reveals that he's secretly a traitor to the Anime House and a spy working with Light and the Anime House.

    Shikamaru Nara

    Meliodas

"Dragon's Sin of Wrath" Meliodas

Portrayed by: Desmond Johnson

    Bam

Twenty-Fifth Bam / Jue Viole Grace

Portrayed by: Dylan Patel
Origin: Tower of God

  • New Meat: Averted. Everyone treats Bam with respect when he joins the Anime House in Episode 4, due to Tower of God quickly being a sensational hit upon its anime release. However, his popularity does take a hit when losing to the Cartoon characters.
  • Token Minority: He's the first Anime character in the Anime House whose show originated from a Manhwa, specifically, the Korean Webtoons subgenre.

    Jotaro Kujo

Jotaro Kujo

Portrayed by: ???

    Jin Mori

Jin Mori

Portrayed by: Desmond Johnson

  • Compressed Adaptation: An In-Universe deconstruction of his show. This led to Yusuke pointing out how horrible the pacing was, with action being the only thing the characters do, and having so many characters introduced out of nowhere which can lead to him having no attachment to them, especially with not knowing their names.
Yusuke: (To Jin about his show's pacing) "...and plus, the pacing of your show is so bad! Like slow down! Hey, we're not going nowhere! Y'all introduced ten characters every episode! For what reason?! I can't keep up! Y'all might as well just box and say no words! (Beat) Oh wait, you already do that!"
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: He easily gets knocked out by Alien X.
  • No Name Given: An In-Universe subversion. He does have a name, but due to his anime's Compressed Adaptation, Yusuke has no idea what his name is nor do the names of his friends.
  • Non-Indicative Name: Not him, but the title of his show. As Yusuke points out, why is Jin's show called, "The God of High School", with the main setting no longer taking place in a high school after three episodes?
  • Token Minority: He's the second Anime character in the Anime House whose show originated from a Manhwa as well.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: He has this reaction when Yusuke doesn't know his name or his friends' names at all. This is only to highlight how bad his anime is due to the compressed storyline consisting of the first 120 chapters crammed into a single season of 13 episodes.

    The Netflix Anime Trio

The Netflix Anime Trio

Portrayed by: John Newton (blue-purple hair and black suit guy), Dylan Patel (black hair and shirt guy), and Ben Skinner (violet hair and blue coat guy)
Origin: ???

  • No Name Given: None of them have their names or the titles of their shows revealed or mentioned. Which is lampshaded by both Goku and Yusuke.
  • No-Respect Guy: None of them are liked or held in high regard by the other Anime characters, especially Yusuke.
  • Original Character: They're completely original characters to Anime House.
  • Red Herring: To divert suspicion away from Light, Lelouch invokes this trope on them and Shinji as possible suspects for L's murder...with little success.
  • The Scapegoat: Lelouch tries to invoke this on them and Shinji as possible suspects for L's murder to draw suspicion away from Light. Keyword: "try", as L and Near are unconvinced as they already know that Light's the killer, while Armin finds it very unlikely despite not ruling them out.

    Roronoa Zoro

Roronoa Zoro

Portrayed by: Desmond Johnson
Origin: One Piece

    Sanji

"Black Leg" Sanji (born Vinsmoke Sanji)

Portrayed by: Ben Skinner
Origin: One Piece

    Thorfinn

Thorfinn "Karlsefni", Son of Thors

Portrayed by: Dylan Patel
Origin: Vinland Saga

  • The Aloner: He prefers to be alone.
  • Berserk Button: This also doubles as a Relative Button. Mentioning his dead father, even if it's coming from others who went through similar losses, causes Thorfinn to be annoyed. But mentioning his very complicated love-hate relationship with Askeladd, who also killed his father, in that same breath will drive Thorfinn into a murderous rage.
  • Beware the Quiet Ones: Whenever he's not perpetually angry, he's usually very quiet. Which only shows the simmering hate he has for Askeladd.
  • Big "SHUT UP!": As Tanjiro casually mentioned both his dead father and his complicated relationship with Askeladd in the same breath, Thorfinn loses his temper and yells at him to "shut up!", all while running up to him with the intent to kill him.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Usually, Thorfinn is anti-social and quiet, but he also has a very short temper that can trigger him into a homicidal rage if you managed to piss him off.
  • Jerkass: Doesn't so much as greet Yuji nor does he appreciate the latter trying to sympathize with him over a dead relative.
  • No Social Skills: As Tanjiro puts it, he's anti-social due to the trauma from watching his dad get killed and the murderous hate he has towards Askeladd.
  • No Sympathy for Grudgeholders: Played with. No one calls Thorfinn out for his grudge against Askeladd and some of them understand where he's coming from and his current anti-social behavior, but they clearly don't condone Thorfinn lashing out whenever someone accidentally hits his Berserk Button. Tanjiro even warns Yuji to stay clear of people like Thorfinn, mentioning that he would have to kill Thorfinn if the latter were to try something like that again. Yuji goes so far as calling Thorfinn "crazy", with Tanjiro agreeing in turn, all while still within Thorfinn's earshot.
  • Psycho Knife Nut: He's a revenge-driven Anti-Hero dual-wielding his father's dagger and another one as his primary weapon.

    Eren Yeager

Eren Yeager

Portrayed by: Mark Phillips

  • Creepy Good: This version of Eren is his timeskip-self, and his Heroic BSoD weirds out both Tanjiro and Yuji, especially the latter as he hears him whispering of revenge.
  • Heroic BSoD: When Yuji meets him for the first time, Eren is currently brooding in a dark room with Tanjiro explaining that he's in a weird place from stress, due to his show's last season airing with a different animation style.
  • Sanity Slippage: When meeting Eren for the first time, he starts off with a Heroic BSoD; involving him sitting on the bed, his head down, and not making a single sound. Tanjiro explains that it's the result of Eren being stressed due to his last season airing with a different animation style and whatnot, but once Tanjiro leaves the room, Eren starts whispering about Revenge on the Marleyans and Reiner. This causes Yuji to get creeped out as he hears this before going as well.
