"Only Time Will Tell."

Led by ElAnthonyVixtin, Corruption Expanded is an alternate take on Friday Night Funkin': Corruption that expands on the Corruption's threat.

As part of the main plot, following Deathmatch in the base mod, Boyfriend was severely injured by Daddy Dearest, therefore rendering him unable to be uncorrupted. With him out of it, the rest of the corrupted go and claim every corner of Philly where they can.

Spoilers up to Part 1 and the first two songs of Part 2 will be unmarked! Also, unmarked spoilers for the official Friday Night Funkin': Corruption storyline.

A character sheet for the characters of this mod is here.

Links to the original videos will be provided in the song list.

Miscellaneous

This mod contains the following examples:

    Tropes A-I
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade:
    • In Friday Night Funkin': Corruption, all it took to push Daddy Dearest into his Despair Event Horizon was by bringing his corruption wife to fight him in "Deathmatch". For the "Deathmatch" of Corruption Expanded, Daddy Dearest gets his will broken even further by having to deal with both Evil Mommy Mearest and Evil Girlfriend coming into the battle to break his heart.
    • For Tabi, he only had to angst about Daddy Dearest and Girlfriend ruining his life in his original mod. However, Corruption Expanded cranks up his tragedy further by having Tabi deal with the Corruption, while also facing down Evil Daddy Dearest, one of the people who ruined his life.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance:
    • Zig-zagged. Evil Girlfriend was never playable in the original Corruption mod, but she does become an opponent for Boyfriend in Week 9. For Corruption Expanded, Evil Girlfriend gets to be playable and appears in the prologue, making her status as an opponent two weeks before her official confrontation in Friday Night Funkin': Corruption.
    • Tankman makes his official appearance in Week 11 of Friday Night Funkin': Corruption and glimpses of him are seen in Week 10. In here, Tankman is one of the corrupted characters that gets to fight Daddy Dearest in the prologue, making the former appear three weeks earlier.
  • Adaptation Expansion: The Deathmatch remix preceding these events becomes a full-blown Marathon Level, with not only more turns for several of the corrupted, but Evil Tankman, Evil Darnell, Evil Whitty and Evil Girlfriend join in on the final battle.
  • Adaptational Badass:
    • Although the Corruption lacks the power to utilize the Nexus state to give itself better combat abilities, it makes up for that transformation with the Corruption's ability to mutate itself into more powerful versions of itself. The Corruption is able to go through five phases of mutations at maximum to boost the strength it has to trap the victims it has corrupted.
    • In the original "Deathmatch", Daddy Dearest only faced off against Evil Pico, Evil Skid and Pump, and his corrupted wife as his only opponents. Here, Daddy Dearest's fight in the Corruption Expanded "Deathmatch" has him fight off Evil Darnell, Evil Whitty, Evil Tankman, and Evil Girlfriend as the extra included opponents. While Daddy Dearest loses just like in the original Friday Night Funkin': Corruption, he puts up a much better fight and requires two of his loved ones to put him into the Despair Event Horizon.
    • While Carol, Sunday and Kapi are exhibited as popular characters, they're not often seen with strong abilities. However, during their battle in "Intermission", they bring out all the stops, with Kapi clawing at Evil Girlfriend, and Sunday utilizing her guitar to its fullest potential to disorient her. Even without angel powers, Carol more than makes up for it by utilizing golf balls as her method of attack. It's these that allow the trio to temporarily survive unscathed.
    • Exagerrated. Ruv in the original Mid-Fight Masses was a boss who only had one song. While his one song, "Zavodila" is hard because of its double notes, he is still fairly slow at singing when compared to this version of him in here. The Corruption Expanded showcases Ruv's full power via rapping in an incredibly intense pace in both "Presledovanila" and "Rebellion". "Rebellion" in particular has Ruv be capable of facing off a large amount of corrupted victims for eight minutes, until his untimely defeat to the Corruption.
    • Downplayed. For Tabi, his knife wielding skills is more prominently featured in this mod compared to his original mod counterpart. In Corruption Expanded, Tabi uses his knife to get close to Evil Daddy Dearest to launch a Blade Spam attack. When contrasted to the original counterpart of Tabi, he only uses his knife in a game over screen for Boyfriend.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Downplayed. Tabi, just like his original counterpart wishes to take revenge on the Dearest family. However, in his quest for revenge, Tabi in Corruption Expanded isn't fully focused on getting back on the Dearest family, as he is prioritizing over saving his life from the Corruption. When faced with Evil Daddy Dearest, Tabi chooses to mock him for losing to the Corruption and wishes to kill him out of spite more than to save himself.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Evil Pico from Friday Night Funkin': Corruption was never really a jerk and mainly acted as a hostile creature that is only interested in corrupting survivors. He shows no other emotions other than wearing a constant Slasher Smile. For the Evil Pico in Corruption Expanded, his personality is expanded and given some depth during Week 2 where he confronts Ruvzyvat. Evil Pico's personality is that he is a constant Jerkass for endangering life to find Sarvente and can react violently from hearing Sunday's guitar music. Evil Pico's rude behavior reaches its peak during "Rebellion" where he silences Pico from escaping and making his declaration to Ruv that death won't save the victims trapped inside the Corruptiom.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy:
    • Ruv in the original mod was prone to Disproportionate Retribution in breaking Boyfriend's legs simply because Boyfriend refused to join Sarvente's church and only cared about going to the bathroom. In Corruption Expanded, Ruv is shown to be getting along with Kapi, Sunday, and Carol, wishing them to not endanger their lives in his mission to save Sarvente.
    • For Sarvente, she acted as a Bitch in Sheep's Clothing for taking extreme measures to have both Boyfriend and Girlfriend join her church. In this mod, Sarvente's niceness is sincere, since her first measure to deal with Evil Skid and Pump is to uncorrupt them from the entities controlling them. Sarvente calms Skid down during the process of uncorrupting him and upon failing to do so, Sarvente blames herself for failing and is remorseful for having left with no choice but to kill Evil Skid and Pump for her own safety.
  • Adaptational Protagonist: In Mid-Fight Masses, Ruv is only a supporting character with only one song that is about him battling Boyfriend. In here, Ruv gets an entire week that is filled with three songs related to his mission in rescuing Sarvente in her church.
  • Adaptational Wimp:
    • Downplayed: The Alternate Pico from the Friday Night Funkin': Corruption universe's strength remains the same, but his portrayal over losing to Sunday can make him come across as less threatening.
    • In Friday Night Funkin': Corruption, the Tankman there had the size of a kaiju and despite being undead, Boyfriend and Pico are unable to damage him in anyway. For Tankman in here, he is only a single unit and isn't fused with other Tankmen to create the Tank Amalgam. note
    • Sarvente in Mid-Fight Masses is able to fight at her best when she is transformed into her demon form. In here, Sarvente's demon form ends up making her weaker and more susceptible to the Corruption, since she had to transform in her partially corrupted state.
    • In Friday Night Funkin': Corruption, Evil Girlfriend had special abilities in which she uses to battle Boyfriend in her week. The abilities Evil Girlfriend had were her illusions, Tendrils of Darkness, and being able to create a set of wings for herself to be hung on. For Evil Girlfriend in Corruption Expanded, she lacks the special abilities of her original counterpart and is only singing during her fight with the main surviving characters in "Intermission".
  • Adapted Out:
    • Due to Boyfriend being rendered out of the picture, Soul Boyfriend is outright absent. While he is seen in the cover of Vs Sunday's "BI-NB", this is considered non-canon.
    • Downplayed. In the original Friday Night Funkin': Corruption, Evil Pico is able to transform into a powerful state called the "Nexus" form, allowing him to gain greater combat abilities at the cost of losing to corrupt people. Here, the Nexus form can only be activated if the corrupted victim reaches the fifth mutation stage to allow the Nexus form to manifest.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For Week 2, the main premise of the week is that Ruv is determined at his goal to reach Sarvente at her church, while Evil Pico is a constant setback that is slowing down in journey. However, in Day 2.5, it focuses on Kapi, Sunday, and Carol being confronted by Evil Girlfriend at their base. The confrontation results in the three survivors battling Evil Girlfriend, while Ruv is on his way to reach Sarvente.
  • A God Is You: Lambshaded. As Ruv begins his run in a cutscene before "Presledovanila", Evil Pico remarks on how Ruv's supposed "God" won't be able to save him in the battle.
  • All Deaths Final: Defied. The moment Pico briefly breaks out of his Corruption to talk to Ruv in "Rebellion", he requests for Ruv to kill him. Suddenly, the evil self of Pico quickly takes over again and this time, he declares to Ruv that death itself won't save the victims trapped inside the Corruption.
  • All for Nothing:
    • The whole course of Ruv's week is to get to Sarvente's church in hopes of helping her after getting her distress signal. Sadly, once he gets there during "Rebellion", he finds that he's too late, but still refuses to go down without a fight.
    • Sunday succeeds in freeing Pico out of his Corruption in a cover of "Blood Moon" but fails because of a fail screen appearing on her face. The reason Sunday failed is because the Friday Night Funkin': Corruption universe is simply too easy for her.
  • A Lighter Shade of Black: Downplayed. Tabi is less villainous than his original counterpart, since he never endangers Boyfriend and any innocent people, but he is still bloodthirsty over getting revenge on Daddy Dearest and Girlfriend. However, when compared to the Corruption, Tabi is a hero in comparison, because the Corruption wishes to infect everyone, regardless of how moral they are.
  • The Aloner: The Tankmen supporters end up being forced to leave Ruv all alone because of the immense corrupted victims that are cornering Ruv. Not having Carl and Joe to back him up, Ruv is left on his own to carry on Pico's request of wanting to be killed.
  • Alternate Self: Due to this mod taking place in an Alternate Universe that differs from Friday Night Funkin': Corruption, an alternate version of Pico exist in that universe. In Friday Night Funkin': Corruption, Sunday gets to meet a version of Pico where he can in fact use the Nexus form as a Deadly Upgrade, as opposed to the Corruption Expanded Evil Pico that can mutate himself to become stronger.
  • Alternate Universe: This mod is described as an alternate universe where Daddy Dearest ends up seriously injuring Boyfriend to the point that the latter is unable to heal himself from the Corruption. Having Boyfriend out of the picture provides the fanon characters that originate from different mods to be forced on dealing the Corruption all on their own.
  • Ambiguous Situation: In a cutscene of "Rebellion", Carl and Joe once mentioned about the disappearance of Sergeant John and his unknown fate ever since the Corruption had begun. However, a Tankman appears as one of the opponents Daddy Dearest fights in "Deathmatch", and it could be the same Tankman Carl and Joe are referring to as Sergeant John. Just incase the Tankman really is John, then it confirms his fall into the Corruption.
  • Anger Born of Worry: Deconstructed. In a cutscene dialog for Sarvente before the start of "Ruins", she mentions on how Ruv had been focusing himself onto helping some survivors to deal with the Corruption apocalypse. With Ruv taking his time to help others, Sarvente began to worry over the long lengths of time Ruv had been away with her. Eventually, Sarvente threw a tantrum to Ruv for endangering himself on his goal to help other survivors. Since Sarvente is all alone now inside her church, she regrets her poor treatment towards him and is soon confronted by Evil Skid and Pump.
  • Anti-Regeneration: Whenever a victim of the Corruption sings, their health bar is regained while at the same time, the victims are able to drain the health bar of the corrupted opponent that is fighting them.
  • Apologetic Attacker: Before Sarvente transforms into her demonic form, she apologizes to Skid and Pump for having failed to save them from the Corruption. Her apology to them is for her second option of needing to murder them in order to protect herself.
  • Arc Villain: Each week provides a specific corrupted individual as the main villain to corrupt the survivors they are up against.
    • Evil Skid and Pump are the main villains for Sarvente to face and are given the most focus in Week 1. Evil Skid and Pump bring out more corrupted victims for Sarvente to fight off in "Daemonophobia", but the both of them still sing most of the time in the song. After Sarvente's week, Evil Skid and Pump are gone, bringing in Evil Pico as the main threat for Ruv to fight.
    • Week 2 turns Evil Pico into the main villain for Ruv to battle, while doing a Big Heroic Run to save Sarvente in her church. Evil Pico is always chasing down Ruv in "Presledovanila" and a early portion in "Rebellion" to stop Ruv from ever succeeding in his goals.
  • Ascended Extra: Whitty only appears as a The Cameo for the original "Deathmatch" in Friday Night Funkin': Corruption, but in this mod, Whitty in his corrupted form gets to have a chance to rap against Daddy Dearest.
  • A Tragedy of Impulsiveness: Before Ruv goes out of his way to run all the away towards Sarvente's church, his allies being Sunday, Carol, and Kapi all want to come with him. However, Ruv wanting to reach Sarvente in a rush denies their help and request that they rest in their base. Later in "Rebellion", Ruv's decision to go alone ends up costing his life, since Sarvente had already been corrupted all along, and he just put himself in danger by going near her church. By the end of the song, Ruv is eventually corrupted by the massive Zerg Rush of corrupted victims overpowering him.
  • Attack! Attack... Retreat! Retreat!: Played for Drama. Carl and Joe arrive to support Ruv in his fight against Mommy Mearest and her corrupted henchmen. However, when Ruv begins to quickly struggle in keeping up on rapping against the overwhelming numbers of corrupted victims, Carl and Joe are forced to retreat, leaving Ruv all alone in the battle.
  • Autobots, Rock Out!: "Presledovanila" and "Intermission" have Sunday do this by instinct, mainly to disorient the corrupted. It works on both Evil Pico, who's undeniably pissed off by the antic and blasts the cellphone she's emitting it through, and Evil Girlfriend, who struggles to fight three characters at once.
  • Back-to-Back Poster: The visual image used for "Last Agony" shows Tabi facing forward, but looking behind him is Evil Daddy Dearest smiling near his back.
  • Badass Boast: Before starting "Rebellion", Ruv warns Evil Pico to prepare himself for battle since he will not be given any pity in their final fight. Evil Pico in retaliation prepares to give Ruv the fight the latter wants, naming the fight to be "Rebellion".
  • The Bad Guy Wins: The Corruption ultimately succeeds in corrupting Ruv and Sarvente in both Part 1 and Part 2 of Mid-Fight Masses.
    • Even after Sarvente uses her full powers to fend off Evil Skid and Pump, she is eventually overwhelmed once The Cavalry of the Corruption arrives to overpower any attempts she may have on surviving.
    • Ruv's entire journey to save Sarvente was All for Nothing by having to see witness her body in a corrupted state. Ruv's attempts to save her only backfire when Evil Pico summons Evil Mommy Mearest and her backup dancers to corner him in the fight. Once Ruv is cornered, it is only a matter of time before he meets his doom.
  • Baddie Flattery: In a cutscene before "Presledovanila", Evil Pico admits that of all the opponents he has succeeded in corrupting, Ruv proves himself to be the most difficult opponent to fight.
  • Battle in the Rain: Ruv's battle against the Corruption takes place in the rain during "Presledovanila" and "Rebellion".
    • Once Evil Mommy Mearest shows herself by opening her car window in "Presledovanila", the chase begins to rain.
    • Near the end of "Intermission", the battlefield for Sunday, Kapi, and Carol starts to rain in their fight against Evil Girlfriend.
    • The entire first half of "Rebellion" has the battlefield covered with raining and it stops raining when Ruv undergoes a Sanity Slippage from Evil Mommy Mearest, Evil Sarvente, and Evil Pico ganging up on him.
  • Beat the Curse Out of Him: The Corruption itself can be resisted and have infected victims be briefly cured out of their infection through The Power of Rock. Although very difficult to uncorrupt someone, it is possible to weaken the Corruption if the opposing singer is able to irritate it.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Ruv's goal throughout the entirety of Week 2 is to find Sarvente and save her from the Corruption before it is too late. Evil Pico grants Ruv's wish in "Rebellion" by showing Sarvente in her corrupted state. Ruv seeing Sarvente's corrupted form shakes him up a bit, but quickly puts aside his worries to focus on uncorrupting her.
  • Benevolent Boss: Private Skittles serves as one of the captains for the Tankmen fighting the Corruption. He shows his benevolence by sending out The Cavalry to rescue Carl and Joe in the aftermath of their attempts to assist Ruv and for thanking the both of them for their efforts.
  • Better to Die than Be Killed: Throughout "Rebellion", Pico makes many attempts to kill himself stop the Corruption from controlling his body. Pico's repeated attempts to die have resulted in the Corruption evolving itself to better suppress him. As one final push to have himself be killed, Pico requests a weakened Ruv to kill him while the opportunity is still open.
  • Big Guy Fatality Syndrome: Ruv when compared to Kapi, Carol, and Sunday, he ends up being the biggest out of all of them and is the most powerful, because of his loud voice. Due to being the strongest in the team, Ruv is the first of his surviving allies to fall into the Corruption. Ruv's decision to go alone in his mission to save Sarvente at her church ends up costing him his life, as Evil Pico's backups overwhelm him with too many corrupt victims to handle.
  • Big Heroic Run: Week 2 has Ruv receive a distress signal from Sarvente, which prompts him to run to reach Sarvente's church. Ruv's run includes him having to face off Evil Pico in "Presledovanila" and the early parts of "Rebellion", before he finally reaches Sarvente's church.
  • Big "SHUT UP!": Hearing Sunday's Rock n' Roll in "Presledovanila" greatly irritates Evil Pico that he has to shout loudly for Sunday to stop making noise. "Rebellion" has Evil Pico express to Ruv on how annoying it was to listen towards Sunday's rocking and for any potential hidden tricks Ruv might have.
  • Bilingual Bonus: The title, "Presledovania", is a Russian word that can be translated in Eglish as the word, "Haunted".
  • Bilingual Dialogue: In animated cutscenes, characters speaks exclusively in Spanish and they all understand each other with no problems. However, during an in-game song, characters will switch to speaking English and can still be understood by other characters.
  • Blade Spam: Tabi dashes right towards Evil Daddy Dearest in "Last Agony" and uses it as a opportunity to deliver lots of slashes at him. Sadly, it fails to hit Daddy Dearest, since the latter's Super-Reflexes are too fast for Tabi's slashes to keep up.
  • Blank Stare:
    • Ruv and Evil Pico are both baffled and can only stare in confusion from the Embarrassing Ringtone that is emitting off the phone that Sunday had given for Ruv.
    • Kapi, Sunday, and Carol are all staring in confusion as to how Evil Girlfriend was suddenly teleported away in their fight.
  • Bolivian Army Cliffhanger: Right after Sunday succeeds in freeing Pico from the Corruption in the "Blood Moon" cover, a large army of Tankmen zombies begin to approach her. Suddenly, a fail screen from the Henry Stickmin Series interrupts Sunday's chance to ever fight the Tankmen horde.
  • Boom, Headshot!: The majority of "Rebellion" consists of Pico shooting himself multiple times in the head so he would die to be free of being controlled by the Corruption and to provide Ruv opportunities in fighting back.
  • Bottomless Magazines: Evil Pico is never running out of bullets in every song where he is fighting Ruv.
  • Canon Discontinuity: The "Blood Moon" cover takes place in the aftermath of Sunday and her allies successfully beating Evil Girlfriend in "Intermission". However, the "Blood Moon" cover is considered non-canon to the main storyline, since it is mainly just an Excuse Plot about Sunday getting a random device that transport her into an Alternate Universe to fight a Nexus form Pico.
  • Can Only Move the Eyes: During the last couple of minutes in "Rebellion", Ruv loses most of his control over his body parts from the Corruption. The strain of having to fight three corrupted opponents at the same time has caused his body to be heavily corrupted, but despite the drawbacks Ruv is experiencing, he is able to continue rapping for a couple of minutes in an attempt to ensure Pico is killed.
  • The Cavalry:
    • A villainous example. Ruv appears to be doing well in fighting both Evil Sarvente and Evil Pico in "Rebellion", but his efforts to save Sarvente are ruined once Evil Mommy Mearest and her backup dancers corner him from fighting.
    • Invoked. As a measure to protect Carl and Joe from getting overrun by corrupted victims after attempting to save Ruv, Private Skittles orders for reinforcements to come to their rescue. Until the reinforcements arrive, Carl and Joe will have to defend their area to be rescued.
  • Cellphones Are Useless:
    • For Sarvente, she has repeatedly made many attempts to call Ruv by her cellphone, but she never gets a response by him. The only way Sarvente is able to send a signal to him is by transforming into her demon form to send out a magical distress signal.
    • Tabi made many attempts to call his boss while at a subway station, but each call had failed, due to the lack of a signal.
    • Averted. The phone Sunday had given to Ruv in "Presledovanila" functions perfectly and both are able to communicate properly in the song. In addition to their communication, Sunday is able to assist Ruv by rocking in with her guitar through the phone, allowing Ruv to irritate Evil Pico.
  • Chase Fight: "Presledovanila" and one part of "Rebellion" have Ruv on the run while Evil Pico pursues him with Mommy Mearest's limbo.
  • Clipped-Wing Angel: Sarvente transforms into her demonic form, believing that it will give her a better chance in killing Evil Skid and Pump as the final option. It turns out that Sarvente using her final form only results in her becoming more susceptible and weaker in combating the Corruption. Despite the disadvantages she accidentally gave herself, she remains determined in fighting off Evil Skid and Pump.
  • Combat and Support: Both "Presledovanila" and "Rebellion" give Ruv backup supporters to assist him in his fight against Evil Pico.
    • "Presledovanila" has Sunday be summoned via phone call, so she could use her rocking skills to irritate Evil Pico in the latter's fight against Ruv. Sunday's rocking is able to push forward Ruv's health bar and is even able to heal him up a bit during the battle.
    • "Rebellion" has Carl and Joe make their debut by supporting Ruv in his final fight against Evil Pico, Evil Sarvente, and Evil Mommy Mearest. Both Carl and Joe assist Ruv by shooting his corrupted victims, as a way to give Ruv an edge to win. Unfortunately for Carl and Joe, both of them are forced to retreat when Ruv is ganged up by too many corrupted victims.
  • Covers Always Lie:
    • Downplayed. The title and thumbnail for the final battle of Sarvente vs. Evil Skid and Pump advertises Evil Skid and Pump as the main enemies for Sarvente to fight in her final battle. While Sarvente does fight Evil Skid and Pump, it hides Evil Pico, Evil Daddy Dearest, and Evil Mommy Mearest arriving to assist Evil Skid and Pump to corrupt Sarvente.
    • Downplayed. For "Rebellion", the thumbnail and title show that Evil Pico will be the main corrupted opponent for Ruv to face. The actual video initially shows Ruv facing off Evil Pico at the start of the battle, but as the fight continues, Evil Mommy Mearest, Evil Sarvente, and the Evil Henchmen eventually arrive to Zerg Rush Ruv into a corner.
  • Creative Closing Credits: The usual credits that come up every time a song ends is that an instrumental of the played song is used to play the credits. For "Rebellion", it serves as an exception as it uses an original song to play the credits and it features all of the people who have worked on creating the entirety of Week 2.
  • Creepy Child:
    • Despite Evil Skid and Pump being kids, their presence is strong enough for Sarvente to feel threatened and is struggling to fight back against them. Evil Skid and Pump talk very slowly in their "Join Us" Drone, making them a creepy opponent for Sarvente to face.
    • The last few moments of "Rebellion" shows an illusion of Ruv and Evil Sarvente as children. Evil Sarvente in her child form tells Ruv on how he finally reached the end of his journey and that he will pay for turning his back on her. Evil Sarvente quickly goes back into adult form and quickly charges at Ruv to weaken him.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Both Sarvente and Ruv get easily corrupted once The Cavalry of the Corruption arrives to take away whatever hope they might have on winning.
  • Curb Stomp Cushion:
    • While it is clear that Ruv is completely outmatched by Evil Pico, Evil Sarvente, Evil Mommy Mearest and her henchmen, Ruv at least goes down fighting for a couple of minutes in a desperate attempt to kill Pico. Although Ruv can barely even stand up, he manages to unleash one last powerful attack to push back the Corruption before finally meeting his demise.
    • The "Blood Moon" cover features Evil Pico as the losing opponent, while Sunday is primarily dominating him in battle. Even when it is clear that Evil Pico is losing the battle, he at least gives Sunday a hard time winning by using his Nexus form abilities on her. What gets Evil Pico defeated is by Sunday using her blanket to blind him, allowing her an opening to strike him with a guitar.
  • Damsel in Distress: In Week 1, Sarvente is put in danger from having to battle Evil Skid and Pump. As a emergency, Sarvente creates a distress call to warn Ruv to save her before it is too late. Week 2 transitions to Ruv's rescue mission to save Sarvente from the Corruption endangering her life.
  • Dark Fic: While the original Friday Night Funkin': Corruption was already a bleak story, this interpretation of The Corruption takes the darkness even further. In the original mod, the Corruption only corrupts its victims and doesn't lament too much on how the lives of its surviving characters have been affected. In here, the mod characters are actively hiding to avoid drawing out corrupted victims and are willing to risk their lives to fight the Corruption, just so they could save those that have been corrupted.
  • Dead All Along: Both Evil Girlfriend and Evil Sarvente have their fates on what the Corruption had done to them is left unknown to the characters. But once they are both confronted, they shatter the hearts of the characters seeking them for their safety.
    • For the entirety of Week 2, Ruv's journey to reach the church of Sarvente was under the belief that she is still alive. Despite Evil Pico telling him that Sarvente is already gone, Ruv wants to do his best to find her and make sure she is okay. Sadly, Ruv is met with the unfortunate truth that Sarvente had already been corrupted at her church and that his entire run had only put himself in danger.
    • Carol had been repeatedly making phone calls to Girlfriend once the Corruption apocalypse had begun, but had received no answer from the latter. Carol finally learns as to what happened to Girlfriend when they both confront each other in "Intermission". Seeing Evil Girlfriend in her corrupted state, Carol, Sunday, and Kapi work together to survive on whatever Corruption Evil Girlfriend might infect them with.
  • Dead Alternate Counterpart: For the Pico of Corruption Expanded he remains trapped inside the hands of the Corruption, unlike his counterpart from Friday Night Funkin': Corruption. In the alternate universe that differs from Corruption Expanded, Sunday gets into a fight with Friday Night Funkin' Corruption!Evil Pico and successfully defeat him in battle. Unlike Corruption Expanded!Evil Pico, the version of Pico Sunday defeats was freed from the Corruption.
  • Deadly Euphemism: Having failed to save Skid and Pump from the Corruption during "Despair", Sarvente apologizes to them being trapped inside the Corruption. At the start of "Daemonophobia", Sarvente asks for their forgiveness, as she plans on "sacrificing" them once her powers work properly.
  • Death by Adaptation: Sarvente and Ruv's fate in ''Mid-Fight Masses" are left unknown, due to the mod lacking an ending in the aftermath of Boyfriend beating Sarvente in "Gospel". For this mod, Sarvente's fate is that she had been overpowered by the Corruption from Evil Skid and Pump invading her church. For Ruv's fate, his entire rescue mission to save Sarvente, only got him to get cornered by a massive corrupted army, leading to him getting corrupted.
  • Death Cry Echo:
    • Unlike the other sounds Sarvente produces in "Daemonophobia", her last note has her sing distortedly, as if the Corruption has won in fully taking control of her body.
    • After Ruv meets his end to the Corruption, he lets out a long scream that causes a Jitter Cam. His scream echoes through the wind by blowing the hair of Evil Mommy Mearest and Evil Sarvente, before the credits finally roll.
  • A Death in the Limelight: Out of all the songs Ruv had sung in Week 2, "Rebellion" ends up being his longest song. With it as the longest song, it puts to focus on Ruv arriving at the Church, but he is met with shock from discovering that Sarvente had already fallen to the Corruption. Seeing Sarvente in her corrupted state, Ruv spends his time trying to uncorrupt her, but he ends up being ambushed by Evil Mommy Mearest and her backup dancers. As Ruv slowly falls into his knees, "Rebellion" still continues for his attempt to kill Evil Pico. Ruv's screen time eventually ends in his week, once he has been completely overpowered by the Corruption.
  • Decoy Protagonist: Right after Sarvente is corrupted by Evil Skid and Pump, the new protagonists being Ruv, Kapi, Sunday, and Carol are introduced in this mod. As Ruv worries for Sarvente, he receives a distress signal from her and it causes him to go on an adventure to find her at her church. In Ruv's journey, he appears to be the main protagonist, because of getting a week where he is the main focus and having allies to back him up to fight his corrupted enemies. Tragically for Ruv, his decision to go after Sarvente alone costs him his life, as he gets ambushed by Evil Mommy Mearest and her Henchmen by the second half of "Rebellion". Once ambushed, Ruv is left all alone by Carl and Joe, which leads to him succumbing to the Corruption. With Ruv gone, Kapi, Carol, and Sunday become the true protagonist of Corruption Expanded and now have to survive on their own.
  • Deliberately Monochrome:
    • The instrumental music videos Vzer creates are Deliberately Monochrome, so they would not be confused with the music videos that have voices in them.
    • As Ruv slowly falls to his knees in "Rebellion", his Heroic Second Wind to continue fighting gives off a monochrome from having to listen Evil Pico telling him that not even death can save the corrupted victims.
  • Demonic Head Shake: For the last time Evil Pico mutates his body to become stronger in "Rebellion", the static animation of his sprite has his head shake aggressively. Before he reached that state, Evil Pico's previous sprites only had him bop his head up and down, but the final transformation near the end of the song has caused his head to shake aggressively.
  • Demoted to Extra:
  • Dented Iron: The entirety of Week 2 has Ruv overcome the many obstacles Evil Pico has thrown and to stop him from ever finding Sarvente at her church. While Ruv is able to tank most of the Corruption inflicted upon him by Evil Pico, Ruv is unprepared to face off against Sarvente. When finally forced to confront Sarvente outside her church, Ruv is already half corrupted, yet is still ready to fight. However, with the arrival of Evil Mommy Mearest and her backup dancers, Ruv is quickly overwhelmed from the stress and loses control over most of his body. Despite the setbacks put upon him, Ruv still refuses to give out and makes a final attempt to have Evil Pico killed.
  • Despair Event Horizon: Similarly to the Friday Night Funkin': Corruption, Daddy Dearest loses his will to furiously rap against the corrupted victims when his corrupted wife confronts him. Although Daddy Dearest slowly loses his will towards his wife, his own daughter joins in the fight to completely remove all the hope he might have to resume rapping.
  • Desperation Attack: Right before Ruv is overpowered by the Corruption in "Rebellion", he makes sure to unleash a long sets of notes as a final attempt to kill Pico.
  • The Determinator:
    • Ruv's strong willpower gives him the strength to fight Evil Pico, while doing a Big Heroic Run to reach Sarvente's church. Even when Evil Mommy Mearest reveals herself through the car window of her limousine, Ruv remains unyielding to the Corruption and brushes it off, until he can find Sarvente. Once Ruv finally arrives at her church, he focuses on saving Sarvente from the Corruption, despite having to deal with Evil Pico as a secondary obstacle. In spite of the fact that Ruv is ambushed from behind by Evil Mommy Mearest and her henchmen, he still keeps up rapping, until being disoriented. Despite losing most control over his body and the disorientation he received, Ruv keeps his focus on killing Pico because of the latter's request and manages to release a Last Ditch Move Spam Attack as a last attempt to win the fight.
    • For Pico himself in "Rebellion", despite having been fully taken over by his Corruption, he is actively fighting back and is giving Ruv opportunities to fight Evil Sarvente with less interruptions. Pico is frequently shooting himself in the head as a way to die and be free from suffering under its control. The last time he temporarily breaks free from the Corruption, he begs Ruv to kill him.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: Unlike Sunday and Carol feeling grim about having to face off Evil Girlfriend in "Intermission", Kapi is only thinking about Evil Girlfriend's beauty, despite her corrupted state. For Kapi to snap out of his distraction, Sunday warns him to just stop his nonsense, and while Kapi does quickly prepare himself to fight Evil Girlfriend, he is somewhat shy of her prettiness.
  • Do Not Go Gentle: Ruv gives it his all to resist the Corruption even after he has lost most of his control over his own body. He even succeeds in pulling out one last long attack to fight the Corruption, until being corrupted as his fate.
  • Dramatic Irony: The end of Week 1 has Sarvente be overwhelmed by the Corruption and the audience is fully aware of her demise, except for how Ruv receives a distress signal from her and is unaware of what happened to her. Later in "Rebellion", he finds Sarvente, but is met with the painful revelation of seeing her being completely corrupted.
  • Downer Ending: Sarvente and Ruv are both overpowered and corrupted in their Mid-Fight Masses weeks, leaving the few survivors a harder time to combat the survivors.
  • Dramatic Spotlight:
    • Tabi for "Last Agony" receives a spotlight that shines down on him for the fight, while Evil Daddy Dearest is kept in the dark with no light shining.
    • Evil Daddy Dearest himself gets a spotlight to act as a reveal over Emerging from the Shadows to threaten Tabi with his Evil Laugh.
  • Dramatic Wind: In Ruv's fall to the Corruption, he lets out a Skyward Scream so powerful that it manages to blow away the hair of Evil Sarvente and Evil Mommy Mearest, before rolling to the credits.
  • Duel Boss:
    • Sarvente deals with Evil Skid and Pump in the first three songs as her main opponents, before Evil Skid and Pump eventually get back up with more corrupted victims, thereby subverting this trope.
    • "Presledovanila" brings in Sunday to assist Ruv in combating Evil Pico, who refuses to leave Ruv alone in the latter's mission to find Sarvente. When Sunday's connection is blasted, Evil Mommy Mearest shows herself up inside her car window to work with Evil Pico on further corrupting Ruv.
    • "Rebellion" brings in Evil Sarvente to support Evil Pico in battling Ruv, forcing the latter to rap against two corrupted victims at the same time. Eventually subverted once Mommy Mearest ambushes Ruv in the back, now giving the latter a much harder time in battling three corrupted victims.
  • Dull Surprise:
    • Sunday in a Freeze-Frame Bonus is shocked from her communications with Ruv being cut off from Evil Pico blasting away Carol's phone.
    • By the end of "Intermission", Sunday, Carol, and Kapi are left completely surprised from watching Evil Girlfriend suddenly disappear during the middle of their fight.
  • Dwindling Party: The survivors introduced in Week 2 were initially composed of Ruv, Kapi, Sunday, and Carol. However, Ruv eventually falls into the Corruption by the end of Week 2, leaving only three surviving members.
  • Embarrassing Ringtone: Ruv receives a phone from Sunday and is advised to answer her call once he is able to attach it into an oil tanker. However, when the phone starts to ring in preparation to be answered, Evil Pico and Ruv are both confused as to what sound they are even hearing.
  • Evil Laugh:
    • Evil Pico prone to letting out his evil laughs in his fight with Ruv.
      • As "Rebellion" begins, Evil Pico laughs while firing his gun to completely lower down Ruv's health at the start of their battle.
      • When "Rebellion" reaches its halfway point, Evil Pico lets out another evil laugh in preparation of revealing Evil Sarvente to Ruv.
      • Evil Pico releases his next evil laugh in "Rebellion" by shutting down Pico's pleas to die and claiming that death won't save him from the Corruption.
      • The last Evil Laugh Evil Pico does is by laughing at Ruv's defeat once "Rebellion" nearly reaches the end of the song.
    • Daddy Dearest's introduces himself to Tabi in "Last Agony" by laughing maniacally to threaten the latter.
    • As for Tabi to respond back to Evil Daddy Dearest, he laughs back to intimidate him for their incoming battle.
  • Evil Sounds Deep: The "Phantasm" cover demonstrates the different pitch of voice Skid and Pump can let out, when in contrast to their corrupted selves. During the times where Skid and Pump are in control of themselves, their voices are in a high-pitch and lack any sort of distortion. For their evil selves, their voice are in a much lower pitch and they both sound similarly like when they sang in "Chiller" from Friday Night Funkin': Corruption.
  • Evolution Power-Up: Evil Pico's body is constantly evolving in "Rebellion", so that the body is better able to combat against Ruv's rapping and Pico's attempt to kill himself.
  • Excuse Plot: For Sunday's fight to happen with Evil Pico in the "Blood Moon" cover, Sunday needed to use a wacky device that acts as a Shout-Out to the Henry Stickmin Series that transports her into the Friday Night Funkin': Corruption universe. For no reason whatsoever, Sunday is the only person transported with the device and is given the opportunity to battle Evil Pico, despite no longer being able to assist her allies. Once Evil Pico in defeated by the end of "Blood Moon", Sunday's adventures in the Alternate Universe just ends, because the fight was too easy for her.
  • Eye Colour Change: Depending on how much the Corruption has spread into Ruv's body, his eyes can create a pink outline around it.
  • Eyeless Face: The defeated expression icon of the Corruption is that its set of eyes are either inactive or damaged from fighting their opponent.
  • Eye-Obscuring Hat: The hat that Private Skittles wears fully obscures his eyes in his profile picture during his communication with Joe.
  • Eyes Always Shut: The "left", "down", and "up" poses for Evil Sarvente have her sing against Ruv while her eyes are closed.
  • Eye Scream: Some of Ruv's Expressive Health Bar shows how his eye is reacting to being infected by the Corruption. At times, Ruv's eye can be bleeding or be slowly turning into its corrupted version.
  • Facial Horror: The health icon of the characters resisting the Corruption shows how their faces are being slowly infected with the virus and. The further the Corruption spreads, the characters' faces ends up being forced to smile and pinkish colors starts to show from the black substance of the Corruption itself.
  • Feet-First Introduction: Once Ruv is overpowered by the Corruption, the camera starts showing his corrupted feet before it expands to reveal his entire corrupted body. Once Ruv's corrupted body is shown, he lets out a loud scream that disables the camera and rolls into the credits.
  • Fighting Your Friend: Girlfriend and Carol used to be friends before the Corruption had ruined their lives. Due to the Corruption apocalypse happening, Girlfriend become one of the first victims infected with the Corruption, while Carol is left out of the dark from what had happened to her. In "Intermission", Carol finally learns what had happened to Girlfriend and now has to work together with both Kapi and Sunday to defeat her.
  • Fist of Rage: Ruv's sprites in battle have him crush his hands into a fist to demonstrate his anger and willpower to fight the Corruption.
  • Flashy Teleportation: When Evil Girlfriend is teleported in "Intermission", it creates a shiny glow that appears as a tall Pillar of Light.
  • Floating Head Syndrome: The teaser for Tabi in the end credits of "Rebellion" show only his head, before the credits come to an end and the fanarts start rolling in.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus:
    • A sign can be seen at the beginning of "Presledovanila" referencing Corruption Takeover and how viewers shouldn't confuse it with this mod.
    • When Evil Pico shoots off Carol's phone in "Presledovanila", Sunday briefly expresses a Dull Surprise from her communication being cut off, before finally going away.
    • At the start of "Rebellion", a mysterious figure can be seen on top of a building, and it resembles the same mysterious figure from the original Friday Night Funkin': Corruption.
    • Once Evil Sarvente arrives in "Rebellion", Ruv is briefly taken a back from how she had been overpowered by the Corruption. Nevertheless, Ruv refuses to give up his mission on saving her and works to fight harder than before.
    • When Pico temporarily breaks free of the Corruption, then reclaimed by it seconds later, one can glimpse the HP bar having its icons rapidly cycle between various FNF characters, including several modded ones not introduced just yet.
  • Funny Background Event: A Freeze-Frame Bonus can reveal the background bill board in "Presledovanila" saying that it doesn't want to confuse this mod with Corruption Takeover.
  • Gender-Equal Ensemble: The survivors that get introduced in Week 2 have an equal amount of females and males for the group. The males of the team are Ruv and Kapi, while the females are Sunday and Carol. The Gender-Equal Ensemble is soon turned into Two Girls and a Guy, when Ruv falls into the Corruption during "Rebellion", which leaves Kapi as the only guy.
  • The Generic Guy: Out of all the corrupted characters that have appeared in "Deathmatch" to rap battle Daddy Dearest, Evil Darnell has the least amount of outstanding traits. Although Whitty was Promoted to Playable in the remix and Tankman has a relation to his Tankmen army, just like the original Friday Night Funkin': Corruption, Evil Darnell is simply just an extra opponent for Daddy Dearest to face.
  • Giggling Villain: As Sunday and Kapi discuss on Ruv's safety, they both suddenly hear a giggle from the distance, which something Carol questions. The group go out of their base to find out the giggle and they are met by Evil Girlfriend giggling in their faces. Before the group of survivors prepare to battle Evil Girlfriend in "Intermission", Evil Girlfriend releases one more giggle.
  • Gotta Get Your Head Together:
    • Whenever Sunday plays loudly on her guitar, Evil Girlfriend places her hands onto her head to block out the intense noise Sunday is producing.
    • Ruv ends up needing to place his hand onto his head just to keep himself stable from having to rap against the staggering amount of corrupted victims that are outnumbering him.
  • Guns Akimbo: Evil Pico gets himself another gun to wield in his hand because of his Evolution Power-Up. His evolving sprites allow him to wield two guns to have a increased advantage in fighting Ruv.
  • Gun Twirling: One of Evil Pico's evolving sprites has him twirl both of his guns in frustration to have Ruv be corrupted.
  • Hammerspace: Played for Drama. One of Evil Pico's Evolution Power-Up sprites has him pull out a gun from no where to give himself a better chance at battling Ruv.
  • Hat Damage: The cutscene before starting "Presledovanila" has Evil Pico shoot off Ruv's hat while the latter talks.
  • Healing Factor: Downplayed. With Sunday's help, she and Ruv are able to heal up a bit of the latter's corruption, but it doesn't last for long, once Evil Pico destroys Ruv's communication with Sunday. Without Sunday, Ruv is forced to fend off against Evil Pico during the last parts of "Presledovanila".
  • The Heavy: The Corruption has an army of infected victims that are constantly out to corrupt any remaining survivors. Individual corrupted victims are paired up with the opponent they are faced with in their respective weeks and are given the most focus.
    • Part 1 of Mid-Fight Masses has Evil Skid and Pump be the main driving antagonist that is focused on corrupting Sarvente in their battle. While an entire army of Corrupted victims eventually arrive to support Evil Skid and Pump, they are still given the most focus on corrupting Sarvente.
    • Part 2 of Midfight Masses focuses on Evil Pico's goal on corrupting Ruv throughout the latter's run to save Sarvente before being too late. Although Evil Sarvente and Evil Mommy Mearest have their time to rap against Ruv, Evil Pico is still the most prominent villain with the most vocals to sing.
  • Heroic Resolve: Before Ruv is completely defeated by Evil Mommy Mearest, Evil Sarvente, and Evil Pico, Ruv is able to muster up the very last of his strength to continue fighting a little longer. Right before his body is completely corrupted, Ruv releases one last powerful attack in one last attempt to resist the Corruption. However, his efforts all end up in vain, as Ruv is still corrupted, despite his best efforts to save Sarvente.
  • Heroic RRoD: When Ruv gets outnumbered by too many corrupted victims in the second half of "Rebellion", he begins to smile in a forced manner from being unable to cope up with the increasingly difficult situation. Despite the disadvantages he is put through, he goes out rapping for a couple of minutes to aim on killing Pico. Right before he is overpowered by the Corruption, Ruv carries out one last powerful attack.
  • Heroic Second Wind: Although Ruv gets ganged up by Evil Mommy Mearest, Evil Sarvente, and Evil Pico in "Rebellion", he manages to continue fighting all three of them at the same time, because of Pico's request to be killed. By hearing Pico's request for a Mercy Kill, Ruv gathers up his strength to fight harder. Unfortunately, Ruv's Heroic Second Wind isn't enough to save him.
  • Hold the Line: "Blasphemy" focuses on Ruv defending the fort and the mod characters from Evil Pico wishing to corrupt them all.
  • Hope Crusher: Evil Mommy Mearest serves as a huge obstacle that can prevent characters who are trying to beat the Corruption to fail horribly in the end of their fight.
    • To Daddy Dearest, Evil Mommy Mearest's appearance is the first major factor that weakens his will to face off the Corruption. Eventually, Daddy Dearest's anger slowly fades away and he is consumed by sorrow once Evil Mommy Mearest and Evil Girlfriend appear in the battlefield to break his heart. Once the both of them go away, Daddy Dearest simply has no more power within him to continue fighting Evil Boyfriend.
    • To Ruv, Evil Mommy Mearest is the main reason that foils his attempts to save Sarvente from the Corruption. At first, without Evil Mommy Mearest appearing, Ruv is able to keep up on uncorrupting Sarvente, while rap battling Evil Pico at the same time. Due to Evil Mommy Mearest's sudden appearance, Sarvente ends up getting re-corrupted again and Ruv is pushed into a corner where he has to turn his back around just to directly rap battle Evil Mommy Mearest. Sooner or later, it becomes apparent that Ruv can't keep up and his Corruption gradually worsens, until being he can no longer stand.
  • Hopeless Boss Fight: A heroic example. "Intermission" has Kapi, Sunday, and Carol as the bosses of Day 2.5, while Evil Girlfriend is the playable character of the song. Evil Girlfriend tries to have them infected, but with the combined efforts of Kapi, Sunday, and Carol, they succeed in beating her in the song. As Sunday releases a powerful rock tune from her guitar, Evil Girlfriend is teleported out of the battle by someone.
  • Hope Spot:
    • Sarvente's chance to uncorrupt Skid and Pump end up in vain from lacking the strength to save them. By having failed to save them, Sarvente's last hope to survive is to fend them off in her demonic form.
    • Ruv appears to be doing well in fighting off his corrupted enemies in "Rebellion", but fails in every chance that appears to be in his grasp.
      • Ruv slightly uncorrupts Evil Sarvente despite having to face off Evil Pico at the same time, and Ruv looks as though he may actually win the fight. Ruv's luck and chances to save Evil Sarvente are quickly stripped away once Evil Mommy Mearest and her backup dancers gang up on him.
      • Ruv's Heroic Resolve in his refusal to surrender and his desire to fulfill Pico's request to be killed ends up in vain. Even Ruv's final attack wasn't enough to save him, as he still ends up in a position of being corrupted.
  • I'll Kill You!: Before starting "Rebellion", Ruv stops running and prepares himself on a promise that he will kill Evil Pico with his own bare hands in their final fight.
  • Immediate Sequel: Downplayed. After Sarvente's fall to the Corruption in her week, she sends out a distress signal to Ruv. While the distress signal takes three days to reach Ruv, it immediately jumpstarts his week to save her
  • Immune to Bullets: Downplayed. Ruv is not completely immune to Evil Pico's bullets, but the former is able to tank them in their battle. The bullets mainly lower Ruv's health, but they don't do much to severely injure him.
  • Impairment Shot: With Evil Mommy Mearest and Evil Sarvente singing in a rapid pace, the camera quickly distorts by switching back and forth. The constant switching acts as Ruv being disoriented from having to constantly turn around to face off the corrupted victims.
  • Impeded Communication: Sunday's ability to communicate and support for Ruv is ruined halfway through "Presledovanila", because of Evil Pico shooting her phone.
  • Improbable Weapon User:
    • Carol uses her golf balls, and her golf club as means to attack Evil Girlfriend in "Intermission".
    • The "Blood Moon" cover has Sunday use her guitar as a weapon to end the song by smacking Evil Pico's face with it.
  • In a Single Bound:
    • Evil Pico is surprisingly good at jumping at incredibly high heights, as he manages to get in front of Ruv in a single leap during a cutscene before "Rebellion".
    • For Evil Mommy Mearest, she gets ends up joining Evil Sarvente and Evil Pico by jumping from her car and into their location, so they would all work together in overpowering Ruv.
  • Increasingly Lethal Enemy: Evil Pico consistently evolves himself into a new form in "Rebellion" to give himself a better advantage to combat Pico's attempt to break free and Ruv's rap battle.
  • Interface Screw:
    • The arrival of Evil Mommy Mearest in "Rebellion" forces Ruv to constantly turn around to face her, while also having to face forward to deal with Evil Sarvente and Evil Pico. By having Ruv constantly turning his head around, the interface of the arrows is switching alongside the corrupted singers rapping against him.
    • The arrow receptors quickly disappearing and reappearing from the Blade Spam of Tabi can make it hard for players to catch the notes as Evil Daddy Dearest.
  • Internal Reveal:
    • In the end of Week 1, Sarvente loses the Evil Skid and Pump, leading to her Corruption. Before her Corruption, she had sent out a distress signal for Ruv to save her, but when it finally reaches him, Sarvente had already been corruption. So when Ruv chooses to go after Sarvente's church, he only led himself into a vulnerable place where he has to learn that Sarvente was gone all along.
    • Carol had been calling Girlfriend many times when the Corruption had begun infecting everyone. However, Carol was left out of the dark about Girlfriend being one of the first victims to be infected with the Corruption. At "Intermission", Carol finally learns what had happened to Girlfriend and is saddened on having to fight her own friend.
    • Evil Daddy Dearest had lost to the Corruption, since his battle against it in "Deathmatch". For Tabi, he is left unaware over what had happened to Daddy Dearest and assumes him to be strong enough to survive the Corruption. When Tabi sees Daddy Dearest in his corrupted form, Tabi taunts him for being too weak to endure the Corruption and is given confidence over beating him in their fight.
  • It Can Think: Ruv assumes that Evil Pico and the corrupted victims are mindless zombies that only work to spread the Corruption, until Ruv hears Evil Pico talk to his face. Upon hearing Evil Pico talk, Ruv demands to know his reasons to spread the Corruption, in which Evil Pico replies that he is hired to take out the remaining survivors.
  • It's All My Fault: Sarvente blames herself for being unable to save Skid and Pump from the Corruption. She expresses her anger from how close she was of saving them in "Despair", but her failure means that the only option to deal with Skid and Pump is to have them be sacrificed.
  • It's Personal: At first, Tabi is initially threatened over a corrupted opponent being near him to threaten his life. However, once the corrupted opponent reveals himself to be Daddy Dearest, Tabi's initially worries are gone and are replaced with a burning anger to get revenge on him. Though Daddy Dearest is corrupted, Tabi views it as a form of his humiliation for being weak enough to lose to the Corruption and wishing to ensure Daddy Dearest is killed.

    Tropes J-Z
  • Jitter Cam: In Ruv's fully corrupted state, he lets out a powerful Skyward Scream, causing the entire screen of the audience to shake, showcasing that he lost the battle against his corrupted foes.
  • "Join Us" Drone:
    • Evil Skid and Pump utter "join us" in their dialog frequently to have Sarvente give up resisting to them.
    • The only word Evil Pico says in preparation to battle Ruv in "Blasphemy" is demand that he joins the Corruption.
  • Kill the Host Body: Due Daddy Dearest's Corruption, Tabi views it as a form of suffering to the person who ruined his life. With the Corruption, Tabi uses it to mock Daddy Dearest for falling to its effects and promising to kill him while he is consumed by its infection.
  • Knee Fold Fall of Defeat: Before being completely defeated by Evil Pico, Evil Sarvente, and Evil Mommy Mearest, Ruv refuses to surrender to them and carries on the fight. In Ruv's weakened state, he is forced to face off against all three of them while kneeling down, showing signs that he is losing control of his body.
  • Last Ditch Move: Near the end of "Rebellion", it becomes clear that Ruv will not survive the Corruption, so he pulls out a speedy Desperation Attack in a final attempt to kill Pico.
  • Last Stand: Ruv having to face off Evil Mommy Mearest, Evil Sarvente, Evil Pico, along with the backup dancers ends up overwhelming him in the second half of "Rebellion". Yet despite the overwhelming forces of corrupted victims, Ruv forces his body to resume rapping against everyone to make one last attempt on killing Pico from the Corruption. While it was inevitable for Ruv to survive the staggering amount of corrupted victims, he truly gave his all to defy the odds.
  • Leave Him to Me!: As Evil Pico chases down Ruv, he orders Evil Mommy Mearest to stay in her car, so he would be able to face down Ruv on his own. Later down in "Rebellion", Evil Mommy Mearest joins the battle to act as reinforcement to ensure Evil Pico and Evil Sarvente don't end up losing to Ruv.
  • Leitmotif:
    • "Presledovanila" brings in the leitmotifs of Pico's "Pico" song from the original Friday Night Funkin' and it is combined with Ruv's loud voice, rumbling instrumental, and Sunday's guitar.
    • "Rebellion" combines the leitmotifs of Ruv, Evil Pico, Evil Sarvente, and Evil Mommy Mearest into its Marathon Level. Themes of Sarvente's songs can be heard once she makes her appearance and is slightly uncorrupted by Ruv. As for Mommy Mearest, her "Milf" instrumental interrupts Ruv's intense battle when she joins in to assist Evil Pico and Evil Sarvente.
  • Let's Split Up, Gang!: When Ruv receives a signal of help from Sarvente, he opts to go alone in his rescue mission, despite the fact that Carol, Kapi, and Sunday all wish to go with him. However, Ruv insists that they stay so they could all get some rest. Unfortunately for Ruv, his decision to go find Sarvente on his own really screws him over, as he ends up being too late to save her and is ganged up by lots of corrupted victims, which leads into his corruption.
  • Little "No": At the end of "Daemonophobia", Sarvente loses to the entire army of corrupted victims that overpowered her attempts to fight back. Having lost to the Corruption, Ruv can only utter out a Little "No" from having lost Sarvente.
  • Lost in Translation: Most of the spoken dialogue is in Spanish (though with captions to compensate for it), though spoken dialogue in the songs is in English (in Rebellion's case, with Spanish subtitles).
  • Loud of War: The survivors of the mod use their voices to fight back against the Corruption or to try and save the victims that are trapped inside their bodies.
    • Ruv himself has his tremoring voice to fight back against Evil Pico and to partially regain his health back from the Corruption.
    • Sunday supports Ruv in fighting back against Evil Pico through irritating the latter with the songs she is producing through the phone Ruv was given.
  • Made of Iron: Throughout three songs, Ruv is capable of being great at resisting the Corruption and fighting back against the infected victims that are facing him. Even in his heavily corrupted state, Ruv has the determination and will power to continue resisting the Corruption, without showing any signs of slowing down in his songs.
  • Major Injury Underreaction: For Ruv, whenever he is on his winning icon, he can be able to manage the Corruption that has spread on his body and can relax himself when battling his corrupted opponent. Even when pushed to a point where he can barely move his body, Ruv's winning icon expression has him relaxed, despite being on his weakest state.
  • Marathon Level: "Rebellion" ends up as the last song Ruv sings and it is by far the longest song ever sung compared to the rest. Ruv ends up singing for a good 8 minutes in his final fight against the Corruption, before his eventual defeat. Even when his body appears to be heavily corrupted, he is able to force himself to sing for a couple minutes, until being completely corrupted.
  • Mercy Kill: Right before Ruv falls to the corruption from having been outnumbered by three corrupted victims, Pico temporarily breaks out of his own corruption to beg Ruv to kill him while there is still a chance. However, Evil Pico appears to taunt Ruv on how death is a futile choice in attempting to save Pico.
  • Mickey Mousing:
    • The flashing lights in "Rebellion" go in sync with the dropping beats of its music.
    • The beat of "Rebellion" drops in sync when Ruv slowly falls too his knees and his preparation to resume his rap battle against Evil Sarvente, Evil Pico, and Evil Mommy Mearest.
  • Mook Chivalry:
    • Despite having a large cast of corrupted characters ganging up on Daddy Dearest during "Deathmatch", they all attack him in their respective turns.
    • "Daemonophobia" has Evil Pico, Evil Daddy Dearest, Evil Mommy Mearest help Evil Skid and Pump to corrupt Sarvente, but they all take individual turns in confronting Sarvente.
    • Averted. "Rebellion" has Evil Mommy Mearest, her corrupted henchmen, Evil Pico, and Evil Sarvente gang up on Ruv and overwhelm him by constantly exchanging turns in a speedy manner. The quick changes ends up being too much for Ruv to adapt that it ends up being what overpowered him.
  • Mook Lieutenant: Evil Pico serves as the boss of the Corruption army he is leading against Ruv and his surviving allies. Despite Evil Pico being only a single victim of the Corruption, he is able to command his corrupted allies on how they can coordinate their attacks. For Evil Girlfriend, Evil Pico sends her to deal with Kapi, Carol, and Sunday, while he has Evil Mommy Mearest drive him to chase after Ruv.
  • Musical Assassin: Both corrupted victims and the remaining survivors create music with their voice to either infect one another or to be protected from the Corruption.
  • Mysterious Watcher: At the start of "Rebellion", a Mysterious Watcher can be seen in a background building. The figure watches Ruv and Evil Pico battle each other, before flying away as Ruv begins his Big Heroic Run to find Sarvente.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • "Presledovanila" references Corruption Takeover through a bill board sign at the beginning of the song. The bill board states that this mod should not be confused with Corruption Takeover.
    • Over the course of "Rebellion", Evil Pico's design gradually evolves to match his design seen in the official Week 10, harkening back to the original mod's Art Evolution.
    • A mountain of Tankmen corpses can be seen near Sarvente's church, referencing the same corpses where Evil Pico stood to fight Boyfriend in the original Corruption mod.
  • Negative Continuity: The miscellaneous videos that are included in the Corruption Expanded playlist play no role into its main story where the Corruption is confronting its main characters. Instead, the miscellaneous videos feature vocal remixes of other songs where different characters are singing.
  • Never Got to Say Goodbye: For the cutscene of "Intermission", Kapi laments for being unable to tell Ruv something important, since the latter left in a quick rush to find Sarvente at her church.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Pico frequently making attempts to kill himself to stop the Corruption from using his body ends up being a bad choice in the long run. While Pico shooting himself in the head temporarily disables the Corruption's control on him, he is also improving its strength each time it recovers from Pico's shots. In the end, the Corruption's mutations become so powerful that Pico can no longer break free and now requires Ruv's assistance to kill him.
  • No Challenge Equals No Satisfaction: This serves as the main reason for Sunday being unable to continue her route in the original Corruption mod. Sunday fights off Evil Pico's Nexus form in a cover of "Blood Moon", and she easily beats him in the rap battle. Due to the easy victory, a fail screen appear to explain towards the viewers that the original Corruption mod universe is too easy for Sunday to continue playing.
  • No Indoor Voice: Ruv is constantly singing at maximum volume, causing the camera to jitter quite a bit. Evil Pico comments to Ruv on how his loud voice won't be enough to save him in their battle.
  • Not Using the "Z" Word: The corrupted victims are usually referred to as "the infected" by Ruv and Sarvente calls them the victims as people controlled by "anomalies". Despite the virus' official name being "Corruption" and the infected victims acting similarly like zombies, they are never referred to as such.
  • Not Worth Killing: Ruv runs away to go save Sarvente before it is too late and leaves Evil Pico on his own, believing Evil Pico to not be worth fighting over. Evil Pico watching Ruv run away refuses to let the latter get away so easily. To catch up to Ruv, Evil Pico has a limousine pick him up and chase after Ruv.
  • Oh, Crap!: In Ruv's entire run to find and save Sarvente before the corruption gets to her, he is met with the unfortunate reality that he was too late and that she had already been corrupted. Seeing corrupted Sarvente, Ruv is briefly saddened from what had happened to her, so he strives to corrupt her in their continued fight in "Rebellion".
  • Ominous Latin Chanting: Once Evil Sarvente makes her arrival to battle Ruv in "Rebellion", ominous hymns can be heard within the instrumentals to reference the Leitmotif of Sarvente's holy nature in her songs.
  • Ominous Visual Glitch: The entire screen of "Rebellion" glitches into the credits once Ruv has been overpowered and corrupted by the enemies that ganged up on him.
  • One-Man Army: Ruv manages to fight Evil Pico for three songs straight and does so while not getting heavily corrupted. Even when Evil Sarvente and Evil Pico work together to fight Ruv in "Rebellion", the latter puts up a great fight and would have probably uncorrupted then, if not for Evil Mommy Mearest's arrival. While Ruv ultimately gets ganged up, he at least survived for two extra minutes, until falling to the corruption.
  • One-Winged Angel: Sarvente transforms into her devil form to fight off the corrupted, though it strains her too much and leaves her to be corrupted. This translates over to her corrupted form once she shows up again in "Rebellion".
  • Original Character:
    • Carl and Joe are characters that never existed in the original Friday Night Funkin': Corruption or in any other media. They are two Tankmen soldiers that were created for this mod to assist Ruv in "Rebellion", as the latter battles his corrupted enemies. After the fall of Ruv, Carl and Joe are left on their own to fend for themselves in battling out the Corruption.
    • Soul Skid and Soul Pump are characters based off of Soul Boyfriend and they both appear near the end of the "Phantasm" cover. The roles of Soul Skid and Pump are similar to Soul Boyfriend, due to being guardians that act as The Rival for Skid and Pump to beat their evil selves.
    • Private Skittles is a character that is exclusive to this mod and acts as one of the captains for the Tankmen. He is introduces as the boss where Joe communicates for in the aftermath of "Rebellion".
  • Outside Ride: Evil Pico rides on top of Mommy Mearest's limousine to chase after Ruv whenever the latter tries to run away from him.
  • Pain & Gain: Word of God says that the Corruption is capable of going through five phases at maximum of its mutation to combat the victims who are trapped from fighting back.
    • In Evil Pico's case, he is shown to be constantly being damaged and inactive in "Rebellion", due to the loud noises that Ruv is generating. Each time Evil Pico is left damaged, he always mutates himself to grow even stronger and to stop the real Pico from ever escaping.
  • Parting-Words Regret: The last time Sarvente ever spoke to Ruv was by throwing a tantrum on him for endangering his life to help other survivors. Being unable to contact Ruv anymore, Sarvente feels bad for her poor treatment towards Ruv and wishes to make amends if they ever meet again.
  • Perpetual Frowner: Once Evil Pico mutates himself to become stronger in his teamwork with Evil Sarvente during their fight against Ruv, Evil Pico's sprite always has him be spouting an angry face. Ruv's persistence to continue fighting has irritated Evil Pico so much, that being angry becomes his default expression.
  • Perpetual Smiler: Played for Horror. Ruv is forced to smile in a rather fearful and worrying manner once Evil Mommy Mearest, Evil Sarvente, and Evil Pico completely outnumber him in the second half of "Rebellion". Ruv manages to return to his determined expression to continue fighting the enemies, when Pico temporarily breaks out of his corruption to beg Ruv to kill him.
  • Pillar of Light: As Evil Girlfriend is being teleported out of her fight against Carol, Sunday, and Kapi in "Intermission", the teleportation sports a Pillar of Light that flashes brightly.
  • Plot Armor: Boyfriend being taken out of the events throws this out of the window, to ensure that everything is played evenly here. This even applies to the Corruption itself, who undergo a couple of big hurdles thanks to Sunday.
  • Power Dyes Your Hair: Inverted. Whenever Ruv's hair is getting infected by the Corruption, it slowly weakens his body and tires him out from fighting. Near the end of "Rebellion" a pinkish dye appears on Ruv's hair, and it only disappears only if Ruv is on the winning side of the rap battle.
  • Predecessor Villain:
  • Pre-Mortem One-Liner: Before Ruv falls in battle and is fully corrupted, Evil Sarvente mocks him for having turned his back on her. Once Sarvente is finished mocking Ruv, she charges at him, resulting in the reveal that Ruv has been corrupted.
  • Prepare to Die: The cutscene of "Rebellion" has Ruv declare that Evil Pico will die in his hands in preparation for their final battle. At the start of the song, Evil Pico warns Ruv to say his prayers, before proceeding to shoot Ruv with many bullets.
  • Previously on…: From Week 1 onwards, Vixtin's videos on Corruption Expanded has a recap of previous events and battles, before proceeding on doing the current battle to see what the surviving character is doing against the Corruption.
  • Promoted to Playable: Whitty in Friday Night Funkin': Corruption was only a background character who never got to take a lead in rap battling Daddy Dearest in "Deathmatch". For the "Deathmatch" remix of Corruption Expanded, Evil Whitty gets to be among the corrupted characters that get to be played with in battling Daddy Dearest.
  • Put on a Bus to Hell: In "Deathmatch", Evil Boyfriend receives a powerful attack from Daddy Dearest, resulting in him being put out of commission. The attack Evil Boyfriend endured is so powerful that he is unable to properly recover himself. By being unable to recover, it acts as a way for Evil Boyfriend to be written out of the story, while the mod characters get their chance to shine and fight the Corruption.
  • Pyrrhic Victory:
    • The end result of "Deathmatch" is that Evil Boyfriend and his corrupt army were able to overpower Daddy Dearest with the Corruption. Despite the victory of the Corruption, Daddy Dearest was able to severely wound Evil Boyfriend and prevent the latter from participating in corrupting more victims. With Boyfriend out of the way, other characters get to have a chance to face off the Corrruption.
    • In the "Blood Moon" cover, Sunday is pitted against Evil Pico, due to being transported into the Friday Night Funkin': Corruption universe. Sunday emerges victorious against Evil Pico by having used her blanket to block his view, before smacking him in the head with her guitar. Despite successfully beating him, Sunday's victory is quickly cut short by a fail screen appearing in her face and declaring that the Friday Night Funkin' Corruption universe is too easy.
  • "Ray of Hope" Ending: Although both parts of the Mid-Fight Masses week result in Ruv and Sarvente being corrupted, the end credits of "Rebellion" brings out the possibility of Kape, Carol, and Sunday's survival against the Corruption.
  • Razor Wind: Kapi utilizes his claws to slash the air, allowing him to attack Evil Girlfriend from a distance in "Intermission".
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: A major reason as to why Ruv and Sarvente were needed to fall into the hands of the Corruption is that they are characters that have been banned from being used by the original creators of Mid-Fight Masses. To prevent complications that Ruv and Sarvente may potentially create, Vixtin chose to have them lose to the Corruption.
  • Recursive Fanfiction: The Corruption Expanded is based off the Friday Night Funkin': Corruption. The Corruption Expanded features the lives of how the fanon FNF characters are dealing with the Corruption itself. The story takes place in the aftermath of Daddy Dearest's defeat in Week 7 and Boyfriend being too injured to uncorrupt himself.
  • Recycled Soundtrack: Week 1 of Mid-Fight Masses has Sarvente sing the original songs of her mod in a remixed fashion in rapping against Skid and Pump. The remixed versions of the original songs sound more distorted and panicked in Sarvente's fight. Averted in Week 2, as Ruv's songs are completely original and have some leitmotifs of his original themes.
  • Red Filter of Doom: As "Rebellion" nears the end of the song, the screen gains a red filter to signify Ruv's intense struggle to continue resisting the Corruption. The red filter reaches its strongest once "Rebellion" ends, showing that Ruv has no more power to resist the Corruption.
  • Reveal Shot: Evil Pico talks to Ruv about the latter's desire to find Sarvente to build up the suspense of what had happened to Sarvente. Once Evil Pico grants Ruv's wish to find Sarvente, Ruv is met with the horrible revelation that she had been overpowered by the Corruption and is now working to corrupt him also.
  • Rockers Smash Guitars: For Sunday's plan to defeat Evil Pico in the "Blood Moon" cover, she use a blanket to blind him before smacking his head with the guitar. Sunday's attack ends up being successful, as she ends up freeing him from the Corruption, until a fail screen interrupts her journey.
  • Sanity Slippage: Ruv quickly loses his focus and cool with Evil Mommy Mearest and Evil Sarvente singing so fast that it ends up disorienting him. In Ruv's disoriented state, he ends up making an unnatural smile and is only able to temporarily regain his focus through Pico's request to be killed.
  • The Scream: The ending of "Rebellion" has Ruv in his fully corrupted state scream so loudly that the camera shakes, until it rolls onto the credits.
  • Second Episode Introduction: The second Week of Mid-Fight Masses introduces the main protagonists of Corruption Expanded, after Sarvente's fall into the Corruption. The main protagonists are composed of Ruv, Kapi, Sunday, and Carol, all whom are living together to survive the apocalypse.
  • Sequel Hook: The end credits of "Rebellion" teases Tabi as the next victim that will face off the Corruption.
  • Sinister Silhouettes: Just like Week 4 in Friday Night Funkin': Corruption, The corrupted Henchmen that appear in the second half of "Rebellion" are all in the background and have their entire bodies only seen through their Sinister Silhouettes.
  • Shoot the Shaggy Dog:
    • The entire week for Sarvente ends up being a completely loss for her, as she fails to save Skid and Pump from the Corruption. Even when Sarvente is pushed into using her demonic transformation, she ends up succumbing to the Corruption, alongside her efforts to protect her church and to save Skid and Pump from the Corruption.
    • Ruv's run to rescue Sarvente before its too late was never going to end well for him, as he received her distress signal after her corruption. Even though Ruv attempted to uncorrupt Sarvente in "Rebellion", his struggle to save her ends up being waster with the arrival of Evil Mommy Mearest and her Henchmen. Near the end of "Rebellion", Ruv tries to succeed in killing Pico because of the latter's request, but it still ends up being another screw up Ruv is unable to do. With "Rebellion" over, Ruv fell to the power of the Corruption with nothing in the week where he was victorious in a battle.
  • Shout-Out: The "Blood Moon" cover of Sunday features her being given options, which references the Henry Stickmin Series. The two options Sunday receives are a "Dimensionator" and a cellphone. The two options reference how Henry, the main protagonist of his game series, requires choosing the right option to succeed in his goals. When Sunday succeeds in overpowering Evil Pico's Nexus form, she ends up being given a fail screen from the Henry Stickmin game called, "Completing the Mission".
  • Simple, yet Awesome: Although Sunday and the rest of the other survivors are unable to come with Ruv in his mission to save Sarvente before it is too late, she is still able to help Ruv through a phone given to him. The phone Ruv has in his arsenal ends up being beneficial in "Presledovanila", allowing both himself and Sunday to work together in singing against Evil Pico.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: Evil Pico frequently swears whenever he feels frustrated at the irritating music that Ruv and Sunday are producing towards him.
  • Skyward Scream: The last sounds Ruv produces in "Rebellion", when he is truly defeated and completely corrupted is to scream loudly.
  • Slasher Smile: Combined with being a Perpetual Smiler, all corrupted victims are constantly smiling in a malicious manner towards the victims they plan on corrupting. This is exaggerated if the corrupted victims are in their winning icons during battle.
  • Slow Transformation: Downplayed. Similarly to the original Corruption mod, the Corruption in here takes at least a week of songs to fully infect their victims.
    • In the span of four songs, Sarvente has her body gets slowly corrupted by the Spooky Kids. When the Corruption starts to endanger Sarvente's life, she transforms into her final form. Sadly, her final form only makes the infection worse, resulting Sarvente getting corrupted much faster.
    • Ruv's fares better than Sarvente, as he acquires the help of Sunday, and Carl and Joe to assist him in battling the corrupted opponents getting in his way. Ruv in the first song gets only his hat infected and when the second song, "Presdelovanila", comes, Ruv is more susceptible to the Corruption by having to run. Ruv's Corruption really speeds up on his body in "Rebellion", as he receives a huge number of corrupted opponents doing a Zerg Rush on him.
  • Snowy Screen of Death: A static effect is used during the moment in "Rebellion" where Ruv is slowly falling onto his knees, because the Corruption had almost fully corrupted him. While he sings in his kneeling state, the snowy screen could be foreshadowing his eventual doom and his final attempts to fight back, so that Pico would be killed because of his request for death.
  • Spam Attack: Ruv's final attack against Evil Pico, Evil Sarvente, and Evil Mommy Mearest is to rap so fast that he regenerates his entire health back and pushes down their health. Ruv's luck to kill Pico quickly runs out when Evil Sarvente counters by singing back to regenerate her health, ruining whatever chances Ruv might have.
  • Spared By Adaptation: When looking at the files for Corruption Expanded, a file saying "Spirit is Alive" confirms that Spirit had survived Evil Boyfriend deleting the Hating Simulator. The reason for Spirit surviving could be because Evil Boyfriend's delete request only applied to Senpai.
  • Speaking Simlish: Discussed. When Ruv acts surprised that Evil Pico is actually capable of communicating in an understandable language, Evil Pico assumes that his speaking is being compared to Boyfriend's beeping sounds.
  • Speech Impediment: While Kapi speaks to Sunday for being unable to deliver an important message to Ruv before the latter had left them to go find Sarvente, Kapi stutters some of his words from the stress building up inside him.
  • Speed Echoes: Ruv's ultimate attack in "Rebellion" and Sarvente's counterattack has them sing so fast that their whole bodies are echoing in speed.
  • Stacked Characters Poster:
    • The music video Vzer made for "Rebellion" showcases all the corrupted characters Ruv is going to face in the song. Ruv's body is partially corrupted and he is at the front, while Evil Sarvente, Evil Pico, and Evil Mommy Mearest are charging at him at the sides of the picture.
    • For the music video art of "Daemonophobia", Sarvente is on top of the picture while all the corrupted victims that is going to fight are at the bottom. The bottom of the picture contains Evil Pico, Evil Skid and Pump, Evil Mommy Mearest, and Evil Daddy Deaerest.
  • Starter Villain:
    • For the mod as a whole, Evil Boyfriend is the first villain to be ever introduced and is only fought in "Deathmatch". Evil Boyfriend confronts Daddy Dearest and uses an entire army of corrupted victims to fight Daddy Dearest. It is only when Daddy Dearest is at his weakest from fighting Evil Mommy Mearest and Evil Girlfriend is that Evil Boyfriend returns to finish him off. However, before Daddy Dearest is overpowered by the Corruption, Evil Boyfriend gets severely wounded by him and is unable to properly recover from the attack.
    • For the main characters dealing their first villain, Evil Girlfriend serves as their Starter Villain. With Evil Pico finding the hidden base of Kapi, Sunday, and Carol, Evil Pico has Evil Girlfriend be sent to deal with them, while he goes out of his way to chase Ruv. When Sunday, Carol, and Kapi meet Evil Girlfriend, they engage into a fight with her in "Intermission", and emerge victorious because Evil Girlfriend had been teleported out of the fight.
  • Stepford Smiler: As Evil Mommy Mearest, Evil Sarvente, and Evil Pico begin to really outnumber Ruv, the latter begins to smile in a worrying manner from being unable to keep up with his enemies.
  • Suddenly Voiced: When Evil Sarvente makes her appearance in "Rebellion", she simply sings against Ruv and doesn't say anything back at him. However, near the end of "Rebellion", Sarvente's illusion as a younger version of herself suddenly speaks to Ruv returning back to her and how he will now be punished.
  • Super-Reflexes: Evil Daddy Dearest's reflexes are demonstrated by his ability to dodge all of Tabi's Blade Spam knife attacks in the midst of "Last Agony".
  • Super-Speed: "Presledovanila" and "Rebellion" showcases Ruv's speed by his ability to race, while rapping against Evil Pico on top of Mommy Mearest's limo.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Soul Skid and Pump are characters that appear near the end of the "Phantasm" cover to assist Skid and Pump to battle out their Corruption. Soul Skid and Pump have a similar role that of Soul Boyfriend, since all of them play the role in assisting the weakened victim in fighting back against the Corruption. To further show Soul Skid and Pump's similarities with Soul Boyfriend, both of them have a darkened appearance and have Monochromatic Eyes.
  • Sweat Drop: Survivors fending off their corrupted enemies are likely to sweat from the dangerous situation they are forced to confront. When a victim is slowly getting corrupted, they continue to sweat from the infection spreading.
  • Taking You with Me: Once Ruv is down to his knees, because of the corruption spreading to nearly all the parts of his body, he makes sure to focus on killing Pico to relieve the latter from the Corruption before ultimately succumbing to it.
  • Talking Is a Free Action: Tabi in "Last Agony" takes a brief time to stop rapping in the fight against Evil Daddy Dearest and chooses to use his time to rant on about how Daddy Dearest had ruined his life. While Tabi rants, Evil Daddy Dearest stands around in the battlefield doing nothing, until Tabi resumes rapping again.
  • Talk to the Fist: As Ruv warns Evil Pico to stay away from the hide out of the other survivors, Evil Pico shoots Ruv's hat as the latter warns him of the consequences that will occur.
  • Tank Goodness: Carl and Joe use their big tank to follow Ruv in his battle against Evil Pico. Carl and Joe's big tank allows them to chase after Ruv so that they can protect their ally from getting too overwhelmed in his battle against his enemies.
  • Tempting Fate: Joe suggests that the survivors Ruv was with are cowards for not helping him and that Joe and Carl are the true heroes for backing up Ruv. However, Carl and Joe are quickly proven wrong when they end up ditching Ruv at his Darkest Hour in "Rebellion", due to Evil Mommy Mearest and her Henchmen ganging up on him
  • Thinking Tic: Tabi puts his hand at his jaw to take the time to think about how he can survive from the Corruption at a subway station.
  • Tired of Running: Having to run away from Evil Pico and Evil Mommy Mearest's limousine has resulted in Ruv getting to tired in having to carry on his chase to find Sarvente. Ruv chooses to stop running so he would directly face off against Pico and kill him with his own bare hands.
  • Title Drop: Evil Pico dramatically utters the words "Rebellion" in preparation for his final fight against Ruv and his tankmen supporters.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Out of the surviving characters, Tabi is the most aggressive towards how he deals against the Corruption. While other characters only fight the Corruption to either save themselves or someone trapped inside it, Tabi views the Corruption as an excuse for Daddy Dearest to suffer and a chance to take revenge.
  • Token Non-Human: With Ruv falling into the Corruption by the end of "Rebellion", the main characters being Kapi, Carol, and Sunday are now on their own. Among them, Kapi stands out by being the only one that is clearly not a human, but a humanoid cat person.
  • Trauma Conga Line: In Part 2, Ruv goes through a lot of obstacles that got in his way to save Sarvente. Ruv starts off his week by first defending his allies from Evil Pico before acquiring a phone from Sunday as a way to gain assistance on his run to find Sarvente. In "Presledovanila" Ruv gets a portion of his body corrupted and loses his phone to contact with Sunday. Once "Rebellion" starts, Ruv's situation goes From Bad to Worse as he finds out that Sarvente is corrupted. Despite the efforts to save Sarvente, Ruv's rescue mission is foiled by Evil Mommy Mearest and her Henchmen ambushing him in the middle of the fight. As Ruv quickly gets a huge majority of his body corrupted, he tries to have Pico killed off near the end of the fight, but ultimately loses to every corrupted opponent.
  • Two Girls and a Guy: At first, Ruv was once a team member that survived alongside Kapi, Sunday, and Carol. However, in "Rebellion", Ruv is overwhelmed in battle and fell into the Corruption, causing his team of surviving characters to go on without him. With Ruv no longer being a part of the team, Kapi is left as the only guy in the party, while Sunday and Carol are the two girls of the party.
  • Two Lines, No Waiting: "Intermission", also known as Day 2.5, serves as the main focus for Kapi, Carol, and Sunday, while Ruv is on his way to reach Sarvente at her church. "Intermission" takes place right after Ruv's connection with Sunday is destroyed by Evil Pico blasting Carol's phone during "Presledovanila". Once "Intermission" begins, it could be presumed that the song takes place either during near the end of "Presledovanila" or the beginning of "Rebellion".
  • Undying Loyalty: Ruv's loyalty to Sarvente is what leads to him splitting up with his allies to go for a search hunt for her. No matter how many corrupted victims slow down or injure Ruv, he does whatever he can to plow through in his run, until finding Sarvente. Although Ruv was shaken from having to see Sarvente in her corrupted form, he nevertheless tries his hardest to uncorrupt her.
  • The Unfought: The end of the "Blood Moon" cover has a large army of Tankmen zombies approach Pico and Sunday. As they approach them, the eventually battle is cut short by a fail screen appearing to alert the Sunday that the Friday Night Funkin': Corruption universe is too easy.
  • Vampire Refugee: Survivors that have their bodies partially corrupted will focus on protecting themselves from the victims that have fallen to the Corruption and will sometimes focus on saving the victims trapped inside the Corruption.
    • Sarvente, despite being slowly corrupted works towards saving Skid and Pump from the Corruption, and when saving them becomes futile, Sarvente opts to killing them as a last resort.
    • Even as Ruv has half of his body taken over by the Corruption, he is still willing to uncorrupt Sarvente from the Corruption and has no intentions on giving up.
  • Versus Character Splash: Similarly like how Phantom Fear makes his thumbnails for his Friday Night Funkin': Corruption videos, the thumbnail of Vixtin's Corruption Expanded videos shows a survivor on one side and a corrupted character on the other side, with a "VS" sign in the middle to show the incoming battle.
  • Victory Fakeout: A villainous example. The Corruption is believed to have won in taking down Ruv in "Rebellion" by having him get ganged up by Evil Mommy Mearest, Evil Pico, and Evil Sarvente. However, because of Pico's temporary breakout and request to be killed, Ruv ends up forcing himself to resume fighting for the couple of minutes before being put down for good.
  • Villainous RRoD: Evil Pico is occasionally breaking down during some parts of "Rebellion" as a result of Ruv's voice allowing Pico to temporarily force himself to break free. Each time Pico tries to break free of the Corruption, Evil Pico counters by mutating itself to become stronger. Evil Pico stops overexerting himself once he has reached the fourth stage of his phase, allowing himself to fully suppress Pico and go full power against Ruv.
  • Violence Really Is the Answer: When Sarvente first encounters Evil Skid and Pump, her first option to dealing them is to save them from the Corruption. Despite Sarvente's best efforts, Skid and Pump's Corruption proved to be too strong and had corrupted them again by the end of "Despair". Left with no other options, Sarvente transforms into her demon form to kill them, so she would save herself.
  • Walking Spoiler: Soul Skid and Pump are spoiler characters, since they only make their appearance near the end of the "Phantasm" cover. For the majority of "Phantasm", it only consists of Skid and Pump singing together, while their evil selves occasionally take the lead of the song. It is only when Soul Skid and Pump appear near the end of the song is when Skid and Pump overpower their Corruption.
  • Worf Effect: Evil Pico in Friday Night Funkin': Corruption was once a serious threat to Boyfriend, because of his Nexus form abilities. However, when Sunday is endangered by that version of Evil Pico, she beats him in battle and a fail screen appears on her face, because the foreign version of Evil Pico is just too easy for her.
  • Wouldn't Hurt a Child: For Sarvente's confrontation with Evil Skid and Pump, she refuses to hurt them as her first option and instead wants to save them from the Corruption. It is only when Sarvente realizes she is too weak to save them is that she chooses to have them killed. Even as she prepares herself to kill Evil Skid and Pump, Sarvente begs God for forgiveness on how she has to kill innocent children to save herself.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain:
    • Sarvente starts to get close on saving Skid and Pump from the Corruption, but she ends up failing near the end of "Despair". Having failed to save Skid and Pump, Sarvente apologizes for her failure and is left with no other choice but to transform and kill the two of them.
    • When Evil Sarvente makes her entrance in "Rebellion", Ruv becomes briefly shocked at her corrupted state, but continues fighting on with hopes that he can still save her. Ruv slightly uncorrupts Sarvente and he seems to be doing well in fighting both her and Evil Pico at the same time. Sadly, Ruv's efforts to save Sarvente are All for Nothing once Evil Mommy Mearest makes her entrance to corrupt him.
  • You Are Too Late: "Rebellion" has Ruv reach Sarvente's church to rescue her from the Corruption, but once he finally arrives to the church, he ends up finding Sarvente in her corrupted state. Realizing that he was too late, Ruv refuses to give up and instead focuses on uncorrupting Sarvente as the next choice to have her saved.
  • You Can Barely Stand: Ruv's fight against Evil Mommy Mearest, Evil Pico, and Evil Sarvente ends up being too much for him to keep up at their level. As a result, he ends up falling to his knees and is only able to to gather up the will to resume rapping from having heard Pico's request to be killed. Ruv's Last Stand has him be forced to kneel in the last minutes of "Rebellion" in a desperate attempt to have Pico killed.
  • You Can Talk?: In "Blasphemy", Evil Pico only speaks in a "Join Us" Drone, giving the impression that he is incapable of reason when listening to Ruv's warning to leave the hideout of the survivors. However, "Presledovanila" reveals that Evil Pico can in fact communicate in proper words. Evil Pico even discusses on how he is being compared to Boyfriend's beeping.
  • You Shall Not Pass!: The plot of "Blashemy" focuses on Ruv making his declarations to defend the base that is protecting the other survivors and the warnings he gives convince Evil Pico into leaving the base alone.
  • Zerg Rush: What gets Ruv and Sarvente to fall in battle is that they were forced to face off a huge number of corrupted victims, destroying any chance they may have in their survival.
