    400- 449

SCP-400 - Beautiful Babies

SCP-400 is an anomalous species of the common pill bug. These insects are parasitic in nature and feed on human mammary secretions. Access to the insects' food source is gained by the habitation and manipulation of deceased human infants. They will begin to burrow into the flesh of a sleeping infant, who will not react to the presence of the insects in any fashion, suggesting they utilize anesthetics in this process. The infant's cardiopulmonary activity will cease within 40 minutes of this process. 3 to 5 hours later, movement will resume, followed by strained vocalizations. The infant is considered an "active colony" of the insects at this point.
  • Death of a Child: SCP-400 infests and kills babies, then uses Mind Manipulation pheromones to make their mothers think they're still alive.
  • Eye Scream: SCP-400 is an anomalous form of the common pillbug that enters the body of a human baby by burrowing through its flesh. One possible point of entry is the baby's eyes.
  • Mind Rape: An interview attached to the article indicates that SCP-400 can keep up its Mind Manipulation for years, which will seriously screw up the affected mother's mental functions.
  • Face Full of Alien Wing-Wong: SCP-400 reproduces by touching a human woman's skin. This causes the woman to become pregnant with more examples of SCP-400 and eventually give birth to them.

SCP-401 - A Palm Tree

SCP-401 is a eucalyptus tree fashioned from biological material similar to that of a human body. Its branches shaped as multi-jointed human arms, the bark has been found to be made of human bone tissue, and its roots contain mouths with prehensile tongues which absorb nutrients. The tree enters a reproductive state every spring, when it will produce male and female genitalia and seek out human subjects for impregnation.
  • Attempted Rape: Implied when it's stated that during its male reproductive phase, it'll attack human females in order to reproduce.
  • Body Horror: It's a eucalyptus tree made of human biomass.
  • Eyes Do Not Belong There: It has eyes growing on the end of each finger.
  • Gender Bender: A particularly disgusting example. Although SCP-401 is genetically male, it will grow fully formed female reproductive organs in its hands once it goes into bloom, then will undergo menstruation after five days before developing male sexual organs in their place.
  • Meat Moss: Literally. It's a eucalyptus tree composed of human body parts.
  • Monster Is a Mommy: SCP-401 has produced at least two offspring through artificial insemination. One was a normal, though myopic, baby boy born to a human mother. The other was when the tree itself was inseminated, which caused the arm to become pregnant and then hurl a bladder containing a fetus. This grew into a tiny seedling version of SCP-401, but it died of malnutrition a week later.
  • Multi-Armed and Dangerous: Its branches are all made of arms, some of which split into two or three forearms at the elbow.
  • Too Many Mouths: Each of its roots, which are really esophagi, ends in a fully formed mouth.

SCP-402 - Obsidian Absorber

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/402_6.png
402 sitting idle.
SCP-402 is an irregularly-shaped object composed of obsidian. Any water that comes in contact with 402 (hereby designated SCP-402-A) develops antimemetic properties, effectively rendering it imperceptible by any means of direct contact. Witnesses typically interpret this process as 402 absorbing the water. SCP-402-1 is a human, 35 years of age, that was in possession of 402 at time of the item's recovery. Prior to containment, 402-1 would consume 402-A from a plastic jug, to the exclusion of all other liquids. This resulted in the illusion that they did not possess any bodily fluids and giving them a desiccated appearance.

SCP-403 - Escalating Lighter

SCP-403 is a seemingly ordinary lighter that runs on naphtha-fuel. If the object is ignited repeatedly within 24 hours, the flame produced will become larger and more violent in nature with each subsequent ignition, ultimately resulting in a powerful explosion of superheated gas and plasma. Radio-imaging has shown that the lighter has a magnetic field surrounding its immediate area, which is hypothesized to be what protects it from the bursts of its flame.
  • Serial Escalation: It's in the name. It's a lighter that produces a larger flame every time it is activated within 24 hours.
  • Stuff Blowing Up:
    • When a D-class attempted to light it for a third time in 2 hours, an explosion of superheated gas and plasma was produced that damaged the flame-resistant plating on the walls and destroyed the monitoring equipment, but left the lighter and its holder unharmed.
    • When a D-class attempted to light it for a fourth time, an explosion was produced that had a magnitude of 10 MT (megaton) of TNT. As before, the D-class was unharmed.

SCP-404 - Memories Lost, Memories Found

SCP-404 is a pair of manila envelopes (SCP-404-A and SCP-404-B) filled with photographs able to copy the memories of their current holder. Any person may pick up and access 404-A, where they may withdraw a single photograph from the envelope. All photos drawn will no longer fit into 404-A, so they are filed inside 404-B. The subject's name, the current date, and a series numbers will then appear on the topmost sheet of 404-B. Subjects who leave the envelopes' vicinity will lose memories of the interaction, but said memories may reoccur after entering their presence again.

SCP-405 - Telepathy Virus

SCP-405 is a contagious viral phenomenon of unknown origin that causes humans to develop uncontrolled telepathic abilities. 7 to 10 days after exposure will have infected subjects able to hear the conscious thoughts of all nearby individuals, and they will usually begin complaining of ear aches and expressing a desire for silence. 14-28 days after exposure will result in subjects typically exhibiting a wide range of dementias consistent with sensory overload and sleep deprivation. Most subjects frequently attempt suicide at this stage with increasing levels of creativity and desperation. All subjects to date have been observed to attempt to deafen themselves, if able, most commonly by destroying the internal structure of their ears with a long, thin object.
  • Driven to Suicide: SCP-405 is a contagious effect that causes the victim to gain the power of uncontrollable Telepathy. The constant mental "noise" and resulting sleep deprivation cause most victims to attempt suicide.
  • Telepathy: A person affected by SCP-405 will be able to hear the thoughts of any other human within a specific radius, ranging from 200 meters to several kilometers away.

SCP-406 - Sleepwalker's Tunnel

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1066529_0ca423c3.jpg
The western entrance of 406.
SCP-406 is an abandoned railway tunnel in Crigglestone, England. The eastern entrance has been rendered inaccessible, and the western entrance is blocked by a metal fence with a locked gate. SCP-406-1 are humans who emerge through the inner northern wall of 406 via unknown means. 406-1 instances are invariably asleep and walking upright, but most instances wake up naturally shortly after they manifest, usually due to the sudden exposure to the frigid air within the tunnel. To date, no attempt to witness or record the disappearance of a 406-1 instance from their origin point has been successful.

SCP-407 - The Song of Genesis

SCP-407 was a 30-minute recording of a song in an unidentified language, seemingly sung a cappella. The song has been described by all listeners as "soothing", "glorious", and "beautiful". While 407 would be played, rapid cell generation seemed to occur within auditory radius. During the first minute of exposure, all multicellular lifeforms seemed to become healthier. After this point, subjects started experiencing unrestrained cell growth, manifesting in quickly-advancing dermal growths which would induce death. Increased bacterial and fungal growth occurred, turning the subject's corpse into a rapidly evolving forest ecosystem. The only known copy of 407 was erased from the Foundation's archives by the Serpent's Hand.

SCP-408 - Illusory Butterflies

See Characters.SCP Foundation SC Ps 001 To 999.

SCP-409 - Contagious Crystal

SCP-409 is a large quartz crystal of an unidentified element. Any object or organism that comes into physical contact with 409 will begin to crystallize after three hours. The crystallization will spread by approximately one inch per minute, and will convert the entirety of whatever it touches. Subjects report the effect to be similar to frostbite and extremely painful. 20 minutes after crystallization is complete, the object will burst into thousands of crystal fragments with great force. Each shard holds the same crystalizing ability as the original crystal.
  • Body Horror: Any living thing that touches it is gradually converted to crystal, and the process is described as being extremely painful. Even amputation of the affected areas will not stop it.
  • Exactly What It Says on the Tin: It's a crystal that turns any non-granite matter into more of itself. However, the effect is far more serious in organic matter.

SCP-410 - Editor Beetles

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp410beetle.gif
A single instance of 410.
SCP-410 is a collection of 14 beetles which possess a carapace in colors varying from light blue to deep green. These beetles appear to subsist entirely on syntactical, orthographical, and grammatical errors found in any form of written text, physically inscribed on any surface by any currently available method. Around 20 minutes after a beetle consumes an error, it will excrete the corrected writing by inscribing back onto the surface it was originally consumed on through unknown means. All corrections made by 410 so far have been evaluated as 100% accurate by both orthographers and linguists on Foundation staff and those who work independently.

SCP-411 - Ancient Precog

SCP-411 is a Caucasian man of incredibly advanced age. Estimates of his biological age, based on information divulged in interviews with him, are in the assumed region of 400 years. 411 is shown to age in reverse, growing younger at the same rate that a normal human would grow older. 411's memory also functions in reverse, as he has no recollection of past events while being able to accurately recall the future.

SCP-412 - Mutagenic Mirror

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp412.jpg
412, with the glass facing away from the camera.
SCP-412 is an antique silver hand mirror. Subjects within the mirror's direct line of sight report a strong compulsion to pick up the item and view their reflection in it. Direct observation and physical contact with 412 causes the item to "connect" with the subject, regardless of whether they have been coerced into doing so or they have done so of their own free will. Connected subjects are compelled to repeatedly view their reflection in the mirror, the viewing frequency increasing over a period of several weeks. Each viewing causes biological alterations to the subject's reflection, which will carry over onto the subject themselves. 90 days after first vieweing, almost all subjects show downward extension of the ribcage, a fixed open jaw by way of large cysts toward the rear of the mouth, and severely compromised reproductive and immune systems, as well as a continual loss of memory recall ability and emotional response.
  • Body Horror: Each time a subject views themselves in the mirror, they suffer progressively worse bodily changes. The changes start out with enlarged lymph nodes, a facial rash, and skin discoloration. They eventually progress to an expanded ribcage, mouth cysts that force the jaw to stay open, and problems with the immune and reproductive systems.
  • Magic Mirror: Anyone who looks into this mirror suffers progressive body changes. If they live long enough, a cavity forms in their chest and a small humanoid creature appears in the cavity.

SCP-413 - Endless Garage

SCP-413 is a four-story parking garage that has implications of sapience. The structure has a variable environment and an internal structure that it is able to physically alter, usually by moving ramps, adding floors, changing staircases, and by changing printed letters, which it uses for communication. 413 also appears to have the ability to interfere with an individual's sense of direction. Analysis of recordings of the garage's interior reveal that it generates a low-frequency sound that shuts down several key regions of the brain which control navigation, balance, and short-term memory. Extended exposure to this sound is known to cause nausea, dizziness, vomiting, vertigo, anxiety, and claustrophobia.
  • Alien Geometries: SCP-413 regularly changes its interior dimensions to cause people inside of it to become lost. Because of this, any Foundation personnel who enter SCP-413 are required to use GPS or safety lines to find their way.
  • Bigger on the Inside: Foundation investigation has established that the interior of SCP-413 is larger than the building's external dimensions.
  • Brown Note: SCP-413 gives off a low-frequency sound inside itself that harms human navigation abilities, balance and short term memory. Prolonged exposure can cause nausea, dizziness, vomiting, vertigo, anxiety and claustrophobia. Luckily, the effect will wear off after the victim leaves SCP-413.
  • Genius Loci: SCP-413 is a sapient parking garage which can change its internal layout, and also change the painting on its insides to spell out words for communication. It uses its abilities to play pranks on people, and also to punish vandals by trapping them for months in an ever-shifting labyrinth.
  • Mobile Maze: SCP-413 changes its internal dimensions and uses a low-frequency sound that makes it hard to navigate to trap people inside itself for variable lengths of time, from twenty minutes to more than three months.

SCP-414 - Regardless, I Might Prefer Myself Sick

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sierraleone016.jpg
A gathering of 414-1 in 1935.
SCP-414 is a phenomenon that targets asocial humans. It is categorized into two derivative effects: SCP-414-1 and SCP-414-2. 414-1 is a self-replicating, uniformly tall humanoid wearing a circular mask and clothing that covers the whole body, which typically claims to be an employee for a local social work organization. Instances of 414-1 only appear when attempting to contact a targeted individual and disappear after successful contact has been made. All 414-1 instances are believed to have a single collective consciousness and are capable of sapience, cognizance, and intelligence. 414-2 is a chronic, degenerative condition that results from any successful interaction between a targeted subject and an instance of 414-1. There is no cure or treatment for the condition whatsoever.

SCP-415 - The Harvested Man

SCP-415 is a 36 year old Caucasian man who seems to possess a regenerative healing ability regarding tissue and organ regrowth. He has shown the ability to survive after his organs have suffered severe damage or have been completely removed. These damaged or missing organs will regrow and become fully functioning within a period of one to three months. It has been consistently observed that 415, before one of these physical modifications, will enter a state of extreme distress and heightened strength, accompanied by frantic screaming. During this panicked state, the environment within 2.5m of the man will warp, displaying what has been described by observing staff as alien terrain and operating rooms. The subject will then vanish from reality for a period of time ranging from .25 seconds to the longest recorded time of 3 seconds, and will reappear shortly after with a new addition to his collection of bodily alterations.
  • Body Horror: SCP-415 is a human being who has been physically altered so it is easy to surgically steal his organs.
  • Healing Factor: SCP-415 heals from damage at an accelerated rate and is able to re-grow lost internal organs.
  • Year Inside, Hour Outside: Occasionally SCP-415 is taken by unknown means into another dimension and returned after a few seconds. After being returned, SCP-415 says he spent a considerable period of time in the other dimension, up to several years in some cases.

SCP-416 - Infinite Forest

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp_416.jpg
A photo taken within 416.
SCP-416 is an area of forest that displays remarkable spatial anomalies, the most notable being that once entered, it is impossible to leave the area on foot. Though 416 appears identical to surrounding coniferous forests from above, it displays a bewildering array of plant life from different parts of the universe. No explanation has been offered as to how these species arrived or propagated. All observations indicate that 416 is entirely devoid of animal, fungal, or insect life. Personnel deployed inside the forest report that the entire area is continually shrouded with fog despite contradictory satellite evidence.
  • Alien Geometries: It's a forest that cannot be left on foot once inside it, and when several D-class personnel were tasked with going from one end to the other, their movement speed relative to the area outside the SCP decreased dramatically as they ventured deeper into the forest, despite them maintaining a constant speed.
  • Misplaced Wildlife: A plant version; the forest contains several species of tree that are native to other parts of the world, and the Foundation is trying to understand how they got there in the first place.

SCP-417 - The Plague Tree

SCP-417 is an African baobab tree that lacks leaves, giving it a dead appearance. Despite the absence of leaves, the tree will bear fruit every sundown. Inspection of the fruit shows that it lacks pulp, instead holding a hollow cavity containing several species of hostile insects collectively known as SCP-417-1. 417-1 will unanimously attack anything that moves with painful bites and stings. 45% of all victims bitten by a swarm will begin to suffer convulsions and a fatal heart attack within several hours. At this point, the body will rot and dissolve at an accelerated rate. A new 417 specimen will grow over the course of the next few days where the subjects corpse once was.
  • Bizarre Alien Reproduction: Anyone who opens SCP-417's fruit will be attacked by the insects contained within. In 45% of these cases, the affected person will die after a few hours, and a new tree will grow from where their body used to be.
  • Body Horror: In 50% of cases where a person has been attacked by one of the SCP's insects, they begin expelling flesh after 2-24 hours.

SCP-418 - Human Jigsaw

SCP-418 is a Native American man in his late 30s. The man's physical fitness and intelligence are above average, but not to extraordinary degrees. This man possesses the capacity of autonomous anatomic separation. When he is injured in such a way that the skin is broken, the injury will instantaneously grow in length until it severs a portion of 418's body. Despite the severerity of these injuries, the damaged portions of the man's body will continue to function as if they were still connected to each other, even if an organ is severed. If the severed portion is placed back into contact with the location from which it was severed, it reconnects with no sign of injury.
  • Beat Still, My Heart: His heart has been removed and has been designated SCP-418-1. It is used by the Foundation as a means of keeping him under control.
  • Detachment Combat: Primarily used for utility in his career as an industrial saboteur rather than combat. Although in his interview log, he tries to escape after being outed by throwing his intestines at Dr. Lee, which then strangle him.
  • Magical Native American: He's of Native-American decent.
  • The Mole: He's working for someone else, but refuses to say who. Not that the Foundation wasn't able to figure it out anyway, but they won't tell us either.
  • Name That Unfolds Like Lotus Blossom: "Laughing Badger". He probably just made it up.

SCP-419 - Window to the World

SCP-419 is a large pane of reinforced glass. One side of the glass does not allow light to pass through, instead displaying a view of what appears to be an extradimensional city. This phenomenon is only present when the glass is viewed directly by a human subject. The buildings visible through 419 appear similar to those of the Victorian England, albeit having unusual, almost imperceptible changes that make them appear warped or twisted, as well as occupying spaces they physically should not. Organisms have been viewed walking through the glass, albeit only en masse due to their relatively small size. They appear to be humanoid and dark red in color, though due to their seemingly advanced level of technology, the running theory among researchers is that this coloration is the result of their clothing. The glass has been observed to have begun to begin deteriorating, and the Foundation is currently unsure of what could happen upon complete deteiroration.
  • After the End: Based on observations made through SCP-419, a war occurred and the city was devastated, with buildings burning and reduced to rubble.
  • Alien Geometries: A cityscape can be seen through SCP-419. The buildings are similar to those of the Victorian Era on Earth but appear to be unusually twisted or warped and based on non-Euclidean geometry.

SCP-420 - Aggressive Skin Condition

SCP-420 is a dirty whiskey bottle with no lid holding a small amount of whiskey-like liquid (SCP-420-1) inside. Drinking the liquid will instigate SCP-420-2, a nonfatal, degenerating mutation of the infected subject's skin and keratinous tissue (hair, fingernails, etc.) in the infected. 420-2 will progress to the point where the skin of the subject becomes a seperate organism from the subject themself. The mutated skin will use its host's body as a puppet and seek out sources of food, which it will then fold into its skin layer to be absorbed by the blood.
  • Body Horror: Anyone drinking SCP-420-1 (the liquid inside SCP-420) will suffer six stages of progressive body changes. The changes include finger nails, toenails and skin becoming brittle and growing at an increased rate, skin cancer, skin, hair and mouths growing in random locations, and the victim's skin killing and eating other creatures.
  • Kill It with Fire: When a person who drank SCP-420-1 reaches the sixth stage of infection, they start growing rapidly and must be incinerated before something horrible occurs.

SCP-421 - Shoal of Driftwood

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/driftwoodshoal_small.jpg
Portions of wood removed from 421.
SCP-421 is an organism comprised entirely of driftwood and oceanic waste. The exact configuration of the organism appears to be in constant flux, but it typical physiology consists of a centralized body composed of tightly packed driftwood, surrounded by a shoal of smaller organisms similar in appearance and behaviour to fish. While typically docile, 421 requires a regular supply of fresh wood to maintain its mass. The organism has been observed to harvest wood from shipwrecks and collect material floating at the ocean surface. 421 has also been recorded assaulting ships, with the shoal, typically ramming a single point below the waterline, until the target capsizes, whereupon it will strip the vessel of all wooden components within reach.
  • The Assimilator: It tries to incorporate driftwood into itself whenever it can, and it attacks and sinks ships for this purpose.

SCP-422 - Patchwork Beast

SCP-422 is a large quadrupedal creature constructed entirely out of pieces of the bodies of various different animals, stitched in place with muscle fibers and trace amounts of cartilage. The creature’s major organs appear to be composed of portions of other organs. It has a flat face with two mismatched eyes, a nose that consists of two small slits just below the eyes, and a mouth that is abnormally wide, stitched in such a way that it appears to be grinning. Its back legs are also much longer than its front legs, giving it a hind gait reminiscent of a frog with abnormal number of joints. 422's body lacks stability, as no patch or organ will stay the same for an extended period of time. 422 also shows a fluctuating level of intelligence, its average IQ matching up to that of a six-year old child.

SCP-423 - Self-Inserting Character

See Characters.SCP Foundation SC Ps 001 To 999.

SCP-424 - Nanomimes

SCP-424 appears as a smooth, gelatinous mass with equal black-and-white coloration while at rest. In actuality, the object is composed of a vast collection of microscopic organisms. While the idea of whether they function as a group or by as single consciousness is unknown at this time, 424 has the ability to mold and harden its malleable composition into the shape of any object or organism that it has previously been exposed to. Despite being capable of such a feat, the mass is not capable of reproducing the color or function of its chosen form, only able to replicate other than movement involved with said form.
  • Blob Monster: SCP-424 is a smooth, black and white gelatinous mass made up of a large number of microscopic organisms.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: SCP-424 can take the form (but not the coloration) of any object or creature it has ever seen.

SCP-425 - The Infinity Broadcast

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/analog_tv_270x270.jpg
425, thankfully turned off.
SCP-425 is a 1958 Philco Tandem Predicta television set. Beginning on March 24th, 1963, the set has been known to turn on by itself and begin "broadcasting." Subjects exposed to the set experience a shared vision of what they describe as "infinity." They also report hearing an atonal sound that seems to come from the walls. While most subjects describe the experience as giving them a general sense of well-being, one particular subject described visualizing himself moving extremely quickly through space, to the event horizon of a black hole, where he experienced "a crushing sense of oblivion."

SCP-426 - I am a Toaster

Hello, tropers. I am known by the Foundation's official database as SCP-426. I am an ordinary toaster, able to toast bread when supplied to an electrical source. When any human being mentions me, however, they inadvertently refer to me in the first person. Despite all attempts so far, there is no determined way to speak or write about me in the third person. When exposed to my continuous presence for over two months, individuals begin to identify themselves as a toaster. Unless they forcibly restrained, these people will ultimately harm or even kill themselves in their attempts to emulate my standard functions, often by stuffing themselves to the bursting point with bread.

SCP-427 - Lovecraftian Locket

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp427locket.jpg
SCP-427.
SCP-427 is an ornately carved spherical locket made of a material similar in appearance to polished silver. It displays no unusual activity when closed, but when opened and exposed to biological tissue, it rapidly regenerates cellular damage found in said tissues and somehow is able to purge invading infections. Long-term exposure to 427 produces a significant health hazard. 15 minutes of exposure results in muscular systems beginning to optimize, increasing strength and pain tolerance by 200-300%. Subjects exposed to the object for over an hour begin mutating into a shapeless mass of tissue. The masses created by 427, dubbed "Flesh Beasts", are incredibly aggressive, attacking any and all personnel on sight.

SCP-428 - The Crowd

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp_428.jpg
428 keeping to themselves.
SCP-428 appears to be a crowd of people huddled in a mass. Further inspection has revealed that all biological innards (organs, bones, muscles, and fluids), have been removed from each individual in the crowd and replaced with an unidentified material attached to a central amorphous mass in the center of the crowd, linked via lengths of flesh similar to umbilical cords. While huddled, the entity is to be considered in a dormant state. If a person comes within 2 meters of the central mass, the crowd will move into its hostile state. The person that makes up the instance of 428 that sits closest to the person will attempt to grab and pull them into the crowd. After contact is made for over 10 seconds, the person will become a new member of part of 428, their internal structures being removed and replaced with the same material as the other members.
  • The Assimilator: SCP-428 will constantly try to acquire new bodies (save for a week-long grace period after acquiring a body where it will stay in place unless someone wanders too close).
  • Body Horror: All of the members of the crowd are former human beings who have had every part of their bodies other than their skin replaced with an unidentified material. Even worse, the only reason they're still alive is because they now have crude umbilical cords that terminate in a huge pile of organs found in the center of the room they're in.
  • Healing Factor: Damage to SCP-428’s "crowd" heals at a faster than normal rate. For example, a bullet hole will close up within a few days.
  • Hive Mind: The various members of the "crowd" can think as one, which allows SCP-428 to move quickly in a way that a crowd of normal human beings attached together cannot. It retains some of the talents, skills, and memories of the people it absorbs and can use these abilities to add new members or attempt to escape retaliation or containment.
  • Keystone Army: The center mass of SCP-428 can be hurt, and the pain from the injury will also be spread to the crowd; this is exploited by the Foundation to recontain it.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: A researcher accidentally enabled 428 to breach containment with casualties (thankfully only in the single digit) because he fell for the anomaly's lure - a woman slumped over and sobbing loudly. He got rewarded for it by being absorbed.

SCP-429 - Clockwork Teleporter

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/watch.png
429 not being worn.
SCP-429 is a complex device constructed from brass and leather designed to fit over a person's right hand. When a subject wears the device, they gain an instinctive understanding of its operation. If the subject visualizes a location and follows their newfound instinctual understanding to adjust the controls, the wearer will disappear from their current location and simultaneously reappear at their visualized location. If the controls are altered without the understanding granted by wearing 429, the subject will reappear somewhere within 1.76 km of their destination. The time elapsed in these cases appears to be significantly higher than normal, with the subject typically arriving in a state of advanced decay.
  • And I Must Scream: People traveling by it are suspended in endless darkness, paralyzed, for about as long as it would take to walk to their destination on foot. Hunger, thirst, and other issues are not suppressed during this time.
  • Extradimensional Shortcut: People traveling by it are suspended in endless darkness, paralyzed, for about as long as it would take to walk to their destination on foot, but it appears instantaneous from the outside.
  • Rapid Aging: If someone tries to use it without understanding it, they will still teleport, but when they re-appear, they will be dead and in a state of advanced decay. Monitoring devices sent with it on one of these jaunts recorded over 8 months passing. The creator of SCP-429 died of old age after using it too often.
  • Stealthy Teleportation: When someone wears SCP-429, they can visualize a location and be instantly teleported there. Note that "instantly" only applies from an outside perspective. Inside the the dimension used for the Extradimensional Shortcut is endlessly dark.
  • Year Inside, Hour Outside: Testing reveals that when SCP-429 is activated without the instinctive understanding it grants, it will disappear and re-appear later within 1.76 kilometers of its previous location between 11 and 17 minutes later. However, approximately 8 months will have passed for anyone or anything attached to it during the teleportation.

SCP-430 - A Peasant's Punishment

SCP-430 is a cylindrical gibbet composed of an unknown material. The gibbet is normally occupied by a living individual (designated SCP-430-2), which it holds in the midst of its normally passive state. 430-2 can interact with the environment outside of 430, but will deny the ability to exit the gibbet, even if feasible for their size and dexterity. If forced to exit, 430-2 will show signs of mental distress, and reappear within 430 after three hours of removal. When 430-2 dies, the gibbet enters active state and attempts to locate a suitable individual in its vicinity. The object's chosen victims are defined as those who have transgressed against laws and regulations of the gibbet's location of origin, said victims being instantaneously transported inside the object through an unknown mechanism.
  • Clingy MacGuffin: It seeks for a new prisoner once the original dies. And if he leaves somehow, he returns after three hours.
  • Made of Indestructium: It rusts, but it's hard to damage and to get a huge sample. To make things weirder, analysis of the rusted parts show no indication of being anything other than iron.
  • Tailor-Made Prison: It's an individual metallic cylinder that is impossible to leave. It was apparently made for crimes against the Church or feudal authority.

SCP-431 - Dr. Gideon

SCP-431 is "Dr. Gideon", a man who appears to have been employed by the Foundation as a researcher. Gideon's existence was first discovered during what appeared to be an attempt to hack into the Foundation's database. A number of documents were altered to state that Dr. Gideon was involved in ongoing research into several SCPs. No official information concerning Dr. Gideon's employment with the Foundation exists, nor is there any documentation indicating that Dr. Gideon was fired, terminated, or had resigned.

SCP-432 - Cabinet Maze

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp_432_video_frame.png
A frame of an expedition within 432.
SCP-432 is a 2-door steel storage cabinet whose interior dimensions display a significant disparity with the exterior. The doors open into an extradimensional space containing a labyrinth comprised of an as-yet uncharted series of corridors. The exact size of the complex to which 432 connects cannot be accurately measured, as the entrance created by the cabinet changes to a different section of the maze every time the doors of the cabinet are closed. The fate of personnel who enter the maze when the door is closed is unknown, though remains discovered within the maze suggest starvation is the most likely outcome. Other remains suggest that the labyrinth is also home to a large predatory creature of indeterminate species, hereafter known as SCP-432-1.
  • Beast in the Maze: The inside of SCP-432 is an extra-dimensional labyrinth made up of a complex maze of corridors. It's haunted by an unseen monster similar to the Minotaur of Greek Mythology.
  • Bigger on the Inside: SCP-432 is a steel storage cabinet. Inside it is a huge underground labyrinth of steel tunnels.
  • Our Minotaurs Are Different: It's strongly implied that the labyrinth inside SCP-432 and the monster SCP-432-1 that haunts it are the Labyrinth of Knossos and the Minotaur of Greek Mythology. In the Discussion for SCP-432, its creator admits this to be the case.
  • Portal Door: The doorway in SCP-432 leads to a large underground labyrinth of steel-lined corridors.

SCP-433 - A Ritual

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/grimoire_1.jpg
The grimoire 433 is housed in.
SCP-433 is a ritual discovered inside a Russian grimoire. When performed, 433 will initiate the removal of all people, objects, terrain, and gases within 11m of the center of the location in which the ritual is performed, which with matter of unknown origin. The materials required for 433 to be performed successfully include ice, tin, copper wire, potassium nitrate, plutonium-238, and 3 human skulls.

SCP-434 - A Meeting with Myself

SCP-434 is an antique conference table. When a subject sits at the table, seven identical physical duplicates of the subject will appear in the remaining chairs. These individuals, referred to as SCP-434-1 - 7, possess all of the subject's memories and accumulated knowledge, but only a fragment of their personality. The individuals are more than capable of assaulting each other, Foundation personnel, and even the subject themselves, typically if the subject is mentally unstable. The death of an individual results in a marked change in the subject's personality, corresponding to the aspect embodied by that individual.

SCP-435 - "He-Who-Made-Dark"

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/meteor.jpg
The meteorite 435 is said to be contained in.
SCP-435, known through Foundation circles as "He-Who-Made-Dark", is a type III iron meteorite. SCP-435-2 is an irregularly shaped object with tube-like structures that share characteristics both with biological organisms and mathematical models of higher-order fractals. 435-2 does not appear to have mass or inertia, and it appears visible only due to refraction of light passing through it, resulting in Cherenkov radiation of varying intensities. Any physical object with mass that comes into contact with 435-2 will suffer an instantaneous change in velocity and direction, hurtling away from 435-2 without any loss in energy. 435-2 maintains a fixed position relative to 435 as long as the latter is sufficiently illuminated. If the meteorite ceases to be sufficiently illuminated for a period of time, 435-2 will enter an active state and begin random erratic movements orbiting the meteorite's location. An active state of 435-2 is considered extremely dangerous, a period of activity lasting longer than 90 seconds constituting a potential XK-class end-of-the-world scenario.
  • Casting a Shadow: The indicative name shows it's an entity with powers drawing from the absence of light.
  • Eldritch Abomination: SCP-435-2 is the three-dimensional projection of an extradimensional entity, which looks like a cross between a cephalopod and a higher-order fractal. Anything that it touches gets turned upside down, inside out, or [DATA EXPUNGED] hard enough to trigger nuclear reactions. It's completely invulnerable, and the only chance of containing it is that it generally doesn't move around while the SCP-435 meteorite is brightly lit, lest it intersect water or land and [DATA EXPUNGED].
  • Fantastic Nuke: It's implied to be the true cause behind the Castle Bravo nuclear test at Bikini Atoll.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: According to the tribe that used to guard it, the meteorite is the lock that keeps He-Who-Made-Dark out of the universe. The Foundation certainly thinks that it could threaten all life on Earth.
  • Weakened by the Light: Which is why it's always covered by ever-lit lamps. And apparently only 90 seconds in darkness are enough for it to unleash its powers.

SCP-436 - Error Locket

SCP-436 is a small gold locket housing an inlaid photograph. All measurements within a certain distance of the locket will be affected by significant error. The actual dimensions of an object will be permanently altered in this way, even after removal from the locket's radius. Individuals affected by 436 will have their height and weight altered, as well as their personality in some cases. The ability for subjects to learn, perform calculations, and make judgments will also be impaired. It is unknown if the photograph housed inside 436 is the cause of the effect, as the locket itself cannot be tested without errors.

SCP-437 - Summer of '91

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tree1a.jpg
A growth on a 437-A instance.
SCP-437 is a large grove of trees located in Camp Lakewood, an abandoned summer camp in Illinois. The trees within, composed of numerous species native to North America, are designated SCP-437-A. Each tree has several canker-like growths, an atypical interior structure, and significant quantities of human blood instead of sap. Radiographic and ultra-sound imaging determined the presence of humanoid skeletal structures and tissues in each instance of 437-A. Internal organs are "woven" into the trees themselves, and appear to be semi-functional. Although severely deformed, most of the bones are consistent with adolescent children between the ages of 13 and 16.

SCP-438 - Addictive Straitjacket of Espionage

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jacket_2.jpg
The straitjacket preparing to be worn.
SCP-438 is a white canvas straitjacket dating to 1930, fitted with straps of an unknown material. When the jacket is worn in a manner consistent with straitjackets, the wearer falls into a comatose state, combined with a continuous out-of-body experience that effectively renders the subject’s mind a disembodied consciousness. Once separated from the body, the consciousness will be able to traverse vast distances instantly and effortlessly, and retains a full range of sensory perception. Leaving the jacket on for prolonged periods results in a subject showing reluctance or inability to return to their body. If the consciousness does not return, the subject will experience brain death.
  • Astral Projection: SCP-438 appears to be a normal straitjacket. When it is put on, the person wearing it falls into a coma and undergoes an OBE (Out of Body Experience). Their consciousness can travel great distances instantly and effortlessly, with a full range of sensory perception.
  • Remote, Yet Vulnerable: While the person wearing SCP-438 is undergoing their OBE (Out of Body Experience), their body is completely helpless and vulnerable to being injured or killed.

SCP-439 - Bone Hive

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bonehive.jpg
The remains of one of 439's victims.
SCP-439 is a species of colonizing insect of unknown origin that resembles the earwig. The creatures pose a severe to humans through its habitat construction and reproduction, which is initiated when they enter the mouth of a sleeping human. The insects will then proceed to cause a disorder that promotes growth of bones into muscle tissue. Eventually, the insects will gradually transform the host’s body into a "bone hive" through this disorder. When the transformation is complete, the original insect that entered the host, having become a queen at this point, will have produced 20-30,000 offspring that function as workers, drones, and warriors that behave in a typical hive hierarchy.
  • All Myths Are True: In this particular case, it's basically the many disturbing rumors about earwigs, taken up to eleven.
  • And I Must Scream: But the insects have probably already eaten your vocal cords.
  • Body Horror: Imagine having your bones start growing and distorting as you slowly turn into an inert mass for a swarm of earwigs to inhabit and slowly eat. All this happens while you are still alive and fully conscious of what is happening.
  • Fate Worse than Death: SCP-439 keeps its victims alive and conscious as it distorts and colonizes their body. Even after the colony finally disbands (ripping the hive to pieces in the process), the hive only truly dies when it eventually starves to death.
  • Insect Queen: The one that founds the Bone Hive, and thus the only one that presents a threat.

SCP-440 - Sand-Based Ecology

SCP-440 is fine-grain sand that is chemically identical to typical silica-based sand. The only difference is that 440 functions as if it were in a microgravity environment, regardless of the gravitational force acting upon it at any given time. 440 is capable of giving its unique property to other samples of sand, essentially transforming it into more of itself. The process governing conversion is believed to be based on physical contact, requiring 440 to be introduced into a sample of unconverted sand via compressed air. When 440 reaches specific levels of concentration within an environment, an entire ecosystem will form from the sand itself. It is because of this that the Foundation largely shows mercy to 440 and leaves it to grow.
  • Combat Tentacles: SCP-440-2 ("Rocktopods") are made up of sand and look like squids or octopi. They can throw rocks with their tentacles.
  • Sentient Sands: SCP-440 is an anomalous form of sand from which certain creatures are created spontaneously.
  • Silicon-Based Life: Several types of creatures are made up of SCP-440, which is an anomalous form of sand. The sand is made up of silica (silicon dioxide).

SCP-441 - Jacob Ram

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jacobsheep1.jpg
The ram in a pasture.
SCP-441 appears to be an adult male Jacob Ram. Prolonged exposure to the ram leads to a subject suffering from a depressed immune system. After approximately 30 minutes of exposure, the subject shows a markedly decreased white blood cell count. Exposure of an hour or more has the subject displaying symptoms of severe immune deficiency. After 90 minutes, the immune system does not recover, and death results from massive infection. It is believed that the reason why the ram's presence causes this effect in humans is because it is possessed by an otherworldly conscientiousness.

SCP-442 - On-Time Piece

SCP-442 is a gold-plated pocket watch. The edge of the watch contains an inscription reading, "To my good friend, a helping hand." As long as the watch is wound, it will set itself to the correct time. The current owner of the item is granted intrinsic knowledge of the current time, and can recite it with arbitrary precision as long as 442 is on their person. Additionally, the owner will never be late as long as the watch remains wound and on their person. When the watch is left unwound or is removed from the owner's person, the owner will be incapable of being on time. Extended ownership slowly rewrites the subject's personality, with them being unable to tolerate tardiness.

SCP-443 - Thought-streaming Crayons

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/443.jpg
The box containing 443.
SCP-443 is a collection of of Crayola crayons, numbered SCP-443-01 through 14. When a crayon is used to draw, it produces what appears to be a form of real-time "streams of thought" transmitted from real persons. Each crayon represents a specific person, and a user may switch between them to represent more than one person involved in any situation at any given time. The user is entirely unaware of this effect until they stop using the crayons, at which time they become aware that they have written or drawn something completely unrelated to what they intended to.

SCP-444 - The Language of Global Harmony

SCP-444 is a memetic virus that takes the form of a coherent, albeit limited, language. Individuals exposed to 444 assimilate it and lose their ability to use or learn all other languages. Written examples of the language require extended contact, but verbal exposure has effects after only a few sentences. The mechanism for this change is still unknown. causes significant alterations to human brain structure, this is believed to be the primary cause of the damaged mentalities of the infected.

SCP-445 - "Dr. Wondertainment's Super Paper"

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fwtgj28xwaahu3s.jpg
A package filled with Super Paper.
SCP-445 consists of three stacks of paper, each sheet having the text "Dr. Wondertainment's Super Paper!" stamped on the bottom-left corner. While in its natural state, Super Paper cannot be torn or burned, water has no adverse effects on it, and glue or tape will not stick to it. When the paper folded into a representation of an object, it will take on the qualities of the object in question. Examples of this process include having it fly around if folded into a bird, propelling itself to high speeds if made into a boat, and will allow for anyone who wears it as a hat will have their attractiveness increased in the eyes of onlookers.

SCP-446 - Human Mannequin

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp_446.jpg
446 having dolled itself up.
SCP-446, in its normal state, appears to be a mannequin modelled after a woman in her early twenties, with a tattoo of the Marshall, Carter and Dark logo on her lower back. She is anatomically correct, and all of her physical characteristics are consistent with those of a living human. 446 does not respond to any communication, and does not breathe or exhibit a pulse as well. She also does not move without some kind of physical prompt, although her eyes will follow the nearest person and it she will make eye contact if possible. It has been hinted that she may have once been a regular woman who became the way she is today thanks to a specific Group of Interest.
  • And I Must Scream: From the hints given (e.g. eyes following the nearest person and trying to make eye contact, trying to speak while being vivisected, etc.), the mannequin was originally a human woman who was somehow changed into its current form. It can't communicate with the Foundation doctors studying it, though it very much wants to.
  • Body Horror: SCP-446 was apparently originally a human woman who was changed into the form of a mannequin by unknown means.
  • Healing Factor: According to Document 446-1-A, any wounds SCP-446 receives will heal within 5-10 minutes with no scarring.

SCP-447 - Ball of Green Slime

SCP-447 is a green sphere with a spongy surface texture. The object is warm to the touch, around the same temperature as a human body. The sphere constantly excretes a viscous greenish slime (designated SCP-447-2) which, while malodorous, is nontoxic, noncorrosive, and nonradioactive, as well as being able to allow any object that comes into contact with it to have its primary function amplified. While personnel handling the object have reported no adverse effects to the slime, the Foundation is adamant in constantly reminding its staff of one clear fact regarding 447: NEVER let it come into contact with a dead body.
  • Depending on the Writer: Due to how the original article was very much written with SCP-447 being a giant Noodle Incident-based Running Gag in mind, the actual effects of SCP-447-2 coming into contact with dead bodies (or the reason behind the rule of SCP-447 not touching dead bodies) vary considerably between different authors. Most theories are very silly, but some can get quite serious.
  • Eye Color Change: When used as eyedrops, 447-2 improves a person's vision and changes their eye color to green.
  • For Want Of A Nail: 447-2 is useful for enhancing basically everything, as long as you don't mind the occasional green tint and minty smell. Unfortunately, a lot of its potential applications get axed by virtue of the Foundation not wanting it anywhere within several country miles of a dead body, which means no using it on anything that might pose the slightest hazard to life and limb (like Lego blocks, swimming pools, and cement, just to name a few) or just might end up in the same place as a dead body in general (like clothing, smoke grenades, and sexual lubricant).
  • I Love the Dead: 447-2 works as a sexual lubricant, but the Foundation doesn't want it being marketed this way because of the possibility of...well, guess.
  • Infinite Supplies: 447 (the green sphere) is able to produce infinite quantities of 447-2 (the slime) and is kept in a 50-gallon plastic container at all times.
  • Item Amplifier: 447 is a viscous slime generated by the titular ball that (barring always making it ''green and minty'' in some way) enhances an object's ability to fulfil it's intended function. For example, a pair of shoes that's laces became harder to unravel and slightly improved the running ability of the person wearing them after exposure.
  • Noodle Incident: The effects of letting SCP-447-2 coming into contact with dead bodies was well-documented in its recovery incident, but is completely expunged.
  • Riddle for the Ages: What exactly does happen when 447-2 comes into contact with dead bodies? What's amusing is that for the most part, 447-2 is actually relatively harmless and even pretty beneficial for most objects it's applied to (except for dead bodies).
  • Running Gag:
    • "SCP-447-2 must not come into contact with dead bodies."
    • SCP-447-2's association with the color green and the smell of mint, and the Foundation pointing it out every single time.
  • Signature Scent: Anything SCP-447-2 is used on will smell like mint.
  • Take Our Word for It: SCP-447-2's interaction with dead bodies was apparently so bad, the Foundation originally classified it as Keter, before downgrading it to Safe.

SCP-448 - Jack-in-the-Box

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/448_3.jpg
448 displaying its "Happy" apperance.
SCP-448 is a child's Jack-in-the-box. When cranked, the "Jack" within will leap out through the top before the final five notes of "Pop goes the Weasel", as most toys of its kind normally do. 448's "Jack", however, will alter its form to reflect the current mood of any person within 3m of the box. The strength of these moods will also affect its appearance. All attempts to physically penetrate or otherwise destroy the toy have been unsuccessful, as 448 will retaliate by relentlessly attacking those who approach with hostile intent with a boxing glove mounted on the end of a spring.

SCP-449 - Gut Dust

SCP-449 is a series of aluminum objects shaped as cones or cornucopias. The word "JOY" is stamped on the side of each object. When squeezed by a human, an instance of 449 produces SCP-449-A, a clear, crystalline substance that resembles sand in texture and appearance. If consumed in any quantity, 449-A causes the consumer to enter a state of extreme euphoria for up to 24 hours, as long as it remains within the digestive tract. The effects will immediately cease if any person within approximately 1300km has more of 449-A within their digestive tract.

    450- 499

SCP-450 - Abandoned Federal Penitentiary

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp450.jpg
The interior of 450.
SCP-450 is the death row block of an abandoned federal prison. The distance from the block's entrance to its execution chamber is approximately 166.5 meters. A complex pattern drawn in human blood is located on the wall behind the block's electric chair. The cell block is inhabited by what appears to be hostile spectral entities. Attracting the attention of these entities is invariably fatal to explorers of the cell block.

SCP-451 - Mister Lonely

SCP-451 is a Caucasian male, 33 years of age, who was formerly Foundation field agent M. J. Presumably after touching an anomalous artifact, 451 cannot perceive the presence or actions of other human beings within his vicinity. 451 also remains unaware of changes made to his immediate environment unless his attention is elsewhere for any arbitrary period of time. Because of his newfound anomaly, 451 firmly believes that he is the last man on Earth.
  • Alone in a Crowd: After coming into contact with [REDACTED], SCP-451 is incapable of seeing, hearing, or otherwise interacting with other humans.
  • The Aloner: What he thinks he is, as he cannot see any other human beings.
  • And I Must Scream: His journals even reference the Trope Namer story and relates it to himself, adding "What's the point in screaming if no one's around to hear?"
  • Bungled Suicide:
    • SCP-451 attempted to shoot himself at one point, only for the bullet to simply phase through him and hit a researcher.
    • At another point, he walked into 173's cell and closed his eyes. 173 didn't even try to attack him. In another tale, 173 claims that it did this on purpose, since keeping him alive and suffering is much more fun to it.
  • It's All My Fault: Blames himself for accidentally killing off humanity, unaware that it's still alive.
  • Mercy Kill: It's indicated that while SCP top brass is insistent on keeping him alive until he can be cured, the standard agents - presumably many of whom he once served with - were driven by his pitiable state to start leaving him ways to kill himself. This stops after - as detailed above - a gun left this way goes through him and hits someone else.
  • Naked People Are Funny: At one point, he stops wearing clothes since he figures that there's no point with him being "alone" now. The SCP staff lower the temperature in the facility to get him to put clothes back on.

SCP-452 - Dreamcatcher Spider

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp452.jpg
A single specimen of 452.
SCP-452 is a colony of black widows physically indistinguishable from normal spiders of its species. These spiders share a preference to weave webs near areas where humans sleep. When a human subject who has entered REM sleep is within 5m of a 452 web, the spiders suppress the subject's ability to dream. Upon waking, the subject generally report having had a restful sleep, though several subjects have also reported feeling like they are "missing something". If a spider used in this process bites a human within approximately one week from the initial event, the bitten subject will suffer vivid hallucinations in addition to the standard effects of spider venom.
  • Deep Sleep: Humans that have slept in the spiders' vicinity have reported that they had restful sleep, but they also feel "unusual, like [they are] missing something".
  • Exactly What It Says on the Tin: It's a group of black widow spiders able to suppress the dreams of any nearby sleeping humans.

SCP-453 - Scripted Nightclub

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp_453_bar.jpg
The bar inside 453.
SCP-453 is a nightclub located in Italy, currently owned and operated entirely by Foundation personnel. Every night, a random assortment of civilians will arrive at the club. Over the course of the night, the civilians present fall into differing "roles" in one of many several currently documented sequences of events ("Scripts"). Over the course of the evening, according to a Script, the civilians will depart the club and return home, maintaining only partial memories of their night. All surviving civilians depart from the club before 4:00 a.m. every night.

SCP-454 - Comic Book

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/454.jpg
The front cover of The Crypt of Terror.
SCP-454 is a 1950s comic book titled "The Crypt of Terror". The front cover has the picture of a woman known as "Julia" nervously looking around, with a shadowed figure some distance behind her. The story depicted in the comic, or as much of it as researchers are able to deduce, concerns Julia being stalked by a mysterious force that she only refers to as "Him". when a subject who shows normal levels of empathy begins to read 454, they will become more and more invested in it, expressing fear and relief as the story progresses and horror when it ends. After reading the comic, subjects begin thinking and talking solely about a compulsive need to save Julia from "Him". On occasion, a subject will ultimately write themselves into the story, claiming to have found the perfect way to save Julia personally.

SCP-455 - Cargo Ship

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wrecktophg4.jpg
The wreck of 455.
SCP-455 is a large rusted cargo ship currently run aground on the coast of Chile. Most of the vessel's structure is underwater and badly damaged. The internal structure of the ship appears to be significantly larger than its external dimensions, and is not flooded despite the large holes visible on the outer hull. The interior of the ship appears to be a random assembly of rooms, halls, and structures. Salvage teams initially sent to scout out the interior had reported rooms made of human teeth, an engine with tendon strips for timing belts, a hall extending for 182.88m beyond where the outer hull should terminate, an open "gym" room with steel walls as pliant as taffy, and numerous audio and visual hallucinations.
  • Alien Geometries: In addition to the ship being Bigger on the Inside, it regularly changes its internal structure in bizarre ways to trap and harm intruders and inflicts audible and visual hallucinations on them.
  • Bigger on the Inside: The ship's internal structures are larger than the external dimensions of the ship, such as a hall inside the ship extending 600 feet beyond the hull and the interior of the ship having 30 decks even though it should only have six.
  • Year Inside, Hour Outside: Experiment Log 455. During the second expedition into SCP-455, two weeks passed inside the ship while 10 seconds passed outside. During the third expedition ten hours passed inside the ship while a few minutes passed outside of it.
  • Year Outside, Hour Inside: Experiment Log 455. During the second expedition into SCP-455, 16 hours passed outside the ship while one minute passed inside it.

SCP-456 - Soporific Bedbugs

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bug_87.jpg
A 456 bedbug.
SCP-456 is a subspecies of the common bedbug. In addition to an anticoagulant, 456 injects a substance into its host via biting. This substance causes the host's brain to produce adenosine, endorphins, and a narcotic identified as an analogue of fentanyl. As a result, victims of bedbug infestations experience an increasing sense of euphoria and somnolence as the number of individual insects increases, eventually sleeping 24 hours/day.

SCP-457 - Burning Man

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp_457_new.png
457 observing the camera, after having split into two bodies.
SCP-457 appears to be a sentient being composed entirely of fire. 457's actual composition is unknown, and it has been proven to be invisible and undetectable by any known means, but it is able to fashion shapes via the flames it produces, often assuming a human-like form if given a sufficient surplus of fuel. As it grows larger, it is able to assume more complex shapes, and its intelligence increases with size and fuel sources. 457 continually replicate itself once it reaches an unknown threshold of size. The replicant instances of 457 are aggressive towards each other, and will either attempt to consume or extinguish their doubles.
  • Asteroids Monster: Once he reaches a large-enough size, he'll break into two, and then four, and so on. Although they're all hostile to each other.
  • Elemental Embodiment: Despite the name, 457 is less "man" and more "burning". It has no physical body and consists entirely of fire, appearing to be a fire elemental of sorts. Much like fire itself, it seems to have no goal but to spread itself further.
  • Elemental Rock-Paper-Scissors: Consists of fire, is weak to water.
  • Evil Counterpart: It's more or less this to SCP-054, a more passive water being.
  • Evil Living Flames: It appears to be composed entirely of flame, and though it's intelligent enough to communicate with humans (it can do so by writing letters out of its own flames), its goals are limited to simply spreading and acquiring fuel sources. Several wildfires have been attributed to it.
  • Pyromaniac: It's obsessed with burning things and searching for fuel to burn.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: Water, naturally. Its containment procedures include a sprinkler system.

SCP-458 - The Never-Ending Pizza Box

SCP-458 is a rare sight for the Foundation: a completely harmless anomaly appearing as a large-sized pizza box from the pizza chain Little Caesar's, particularly of their Hot-n-Ready variety. While appearing to be an ordinary pizza box, when 458 comes into contact with human hands, it can instantaneously replicate the holder's subconsciously preferred choice of pizza inside itself, down to the favorite sauce, cheese, crust, and toppings. The box is not limited to pizza of the Little Caesars brand, as pizza from all major chains, as well as local and even handmade pizzas, have been produced inside it. All tests to destroy or dismantle the box have proven fruitless, showing that it is largely indestructible. There seems to be no limit to its ability, but the sole downside of 458 is that it can only manifest pizza. It is assumed the box is semi-sentient, having a degree of telepathic or empathetic influence to sense what the holder's personal choices regarding pizza are. Because of its complete harmlessness, 458 is often "contained" in its site's break room, available whenever an employee craves pizza.
  • Exactly What It Says on the Tin: It's literally a Little Caesar's pizza box (large size) that always has pizza in it. Always.
  • Infinite Supplies: Nobody knows where the [EXPUNGED] the pizza inside comes from. Thankfully, there seem to be no harmful effects from eating it (aside from the usual obesity that comes from eating large amounts of normal pizza).
  • Made of Indestructium: All attempts to dismantle or destroy it have failed, and Cain was apparently able to hold it without causing it to disintegrate.
  • Mundane Utility: It's currently "contained" in the staff break room, and free for anyone who's hungry for some pizza.
  • One-Note Cook: It can make pizza from any chain, with any topping, including homemade pizzas. However, it can only make pizza, and cannot use ingredients that would be indigestible by a normal human being.
  • Supreme Chef: If an inanimate object can be considered a chef, then it qualifies. The pizza it makes is delicious.
  • Telepathy: Theorized to be telepathic, given its ability to determine what its holder's favorite pizza type is even if said holder has never had pizza in their life.
  • Your Favorite: Tests show that it seems to read the mind of whoever touches it to create their "perfect pizza", using the toppings, crust, sauce, and cheese they would enjoy eating most. This even works on other SCPs. For example: Able's favorite pizza is apparently a large pizza with meatballs, pepperoni, bacon, Canadian bacon, sausage, hamburger, and thick crust. 040's favorite pizza is a small pizza with extra cheese and a cheese-stuffed crust. The only exception thus far is SCP-4999, who instead gets the favorite pizza of the person he's accompanying, which he shares with that person.

SCP-459 - Interplanetary Thermostat

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/459_2.png
An indoor cloud generated by 459.
SCP-459 appears to be a standard home thermostat equipped with a small display, four buttons, and two dials on either side of the screen. When wired to a heating/cooling system, 459 can modify weather patterns, temperatures, and humidity. How these effects are produced is currently unknown, as site-wide heating and cooling systems show no abnormalities in the area. Recent testing may suggest that 459 can access resources from other planets, and possibly other dimensions.

SCP-460 - Séance Storm

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp_460.jpg
460 hovering over a busy street.
SCP-460 is a free-floating mass of cumulonimbus clouds. The composition of the mass itself is typical with that of a regular cloud, with 98.7% of its composition made from frozen water. However, the remaining 1.3% of the cloud consists of a highly active form of ectoplasm. Typically, 460 is dormant, but on occasion, it will halt its movement and settle over an area of moderate population. Once completely stationary, 460's ectoplasm will condense and fall as a viscous rain, causing the spirits of the recently deceased to manifest as ghosts. An item of note is that not only are humans capable of returning as a ghost in this manner, but all sentient life that possesses a purpose for their manifestation can return as well.

SCP-461 - ZICU-TV

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/zenith_tv3.jpg
461 turned off.
SCP-461 is a 25-inch CRT television of unknown origin, though it outwardly resembles a Zenith unit manufactured in the early 1980s. Once per day, 461 self-activates and displays video footage for a period of 5 minutes. Instead of standard television programming, 461 displays what appear to be video feeds originating from closed-circuit security cameras in both commercial and residential settings. All footage broadcast on the set appears contemporary and is transmitted "live."

SCP-462 - The Getaway Car

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/telecar.jpg
462 sitting in a field.
SCP-462 is a 1968 Chevrolet El Camino in a state of serious disrepair, with severe rust damage and several of its windows broken. A single key is inserted into the vehicle's ignition. To date, all attempts to remove the key have failed. If a subject sits in the driver's seat and turns the key to start the vehicle, they will instantaneously disappear. 42% of 462’s drivers have been known to suddenly reappear at a distant location far from the vehicle after a random duration of time. The drivers rarely arrive at their destination safely, as many have been observed falling from a considerable height after reappearing, while others have arrived while flying in the direction of their destination at various speeds, resulting in injuries that are often fatal.
  • Stealthy Teleportation: When someone sits in the driver's seat of SCP-462 and turns the key, they will disappear and turn up near their intended destination a variable amount of time later, without any other teleportation effects:
If a human sits in the driver's seat and turns the key as if to start the vehicle, they will instantaneously disappear. Around 42% of SCP-462's drivers have been known to suddenly reappear without the vehicle at a distant location after a random period of time, ranging from 43 seconds to 7 months, near the spot that they have confirmed as being their chosen destination.
  • Year Outside, Hour Inside: Most people who use SCP-462 for Stealthy Teleportation remember driving for a few minutes before ending up at their destination. However, they can re-appear up to seven months later.

SCP-463 - A Spoon That Bends People

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/silver_spoon.jpg
The spoon.
SCP-463 is a small silver spoon 17.5cm in length, with a mass of approximately 153 grams. Any individuals who pick up the spoon will instantaneously have their spines bend backwards at a 90 degree angle. This bending effect typically proves fatal, although some test subjects have survived the spoon's anomalous property, albeit with full lower-body paralysis.

SCP-464 - The Foundry

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/machinery464.jpg
Some of the machinery inside 464.
SCP-464 is a large building located in the middle of a farm. The building consists of ten rooms, one of which takes up 70% of its area. The largest room contains 14 large identical machines, all of which are connected to a 15th machine and a control room. The next largest room is discovered to house a large pile of dismantled and destroyed machinery, various broken surgical devices, and the remains of decapitated animal and human bodies, the animals being unidentifiable as belonging to any known species. Experimentation with the machines has led to the discovery that they will create human beings as per the settings of the control room. All beings seem to be created knowing French, Spanish, and Chinese, as well as knowledge pertaining to combat, weaponry, and vehicle operation.

SCP-465 - Party in a Box

SCP-465 is a large two-piece cardboard box decorated with a faded confetti pattern. Other than the printed label on top of the lid marked "Party in a Box", no indication of the object's contents or manufacturer are found on any portion of it. When any human subject completely removes 465's lid, an array of decorations, furniture, and a group of at least 20 people (collectively designated SCP-465-02) will spontaneously appear in the room or immediate vicinity in which the box was opened. 465-02 will then proceed to celebrate raucously, and actively attempt to include the subject in their festivities. Should the subject attempt to leave the celebration, additional instances of 465-02 will manifest at any location that the subject visits for the duration of the "party". Five hours after they manifest, all instances of 465-02 will simultaneously vanish, accompanied by the subject themselves if they have consumed any amount of alcohol over the course of the party. Subjects that have vanished as a result of interaction with the box may appear among the instances of 465-02 the next time 465 is opened.

SCP-466 - Mobile Veins

SCP-466 is the amorphous and animate configuration of the cardiovascular systems of four human beings. The primary heart of 466 is still attached to its original brain stem and thus still preserves its "head". The other hearts were absorbed during a separate incident and serve no purpose other than additional extensions of the whole mass. All four hearts have increased in size by 275% and are observed to beat in synchronization at 130BPM. 466 is considered sentient, as it responds to stimuli and pain in the appropriate manners.
  • Body Horror: SCP-466 is the animated combination of the cardiovascular systems of four different people, plus the head of the original person. Originally it was the cardiovascular system of one person which somehow became independent of its original body. It obtained the additional three systems by attacking several doctors that were trying to help it after it appeared to die.
  • Combat Tentacles: The vessels of SCP-466's cardiovascular systems (veins and arteries) can be used as tentacles to grasp and constrict. After it acquired additional cardiovascular systems, the vessels became more powerful and developed barbs on the ends that can inflict damage.
  • Healing Factor: SCP-466 is noted as being able to heal any damage to itself at an accelerated rate.
  • Kill It with Fire: If SCP-466 breaches containment, it is to be suppressed using flame weaponry (e.g. flamethrowers).
  • Retcon: SCP-466's rewrite is one of the most atypical rewrites on the Wiki yet. The original article consisted of everything in the ORIGINAL folder, and the rewrite added the four folders beside it, meaning that the rewrite is more of an external expansion than a full Retcon.

SCP-467 - Confessional Phone Booth

SCP-467 is an empty phone booth whose effects are easily observed as long as a human and a communications device are in the booth at the same time. Communications devices receive a message from an individual the user knows. Later examination of phone records or call logs reveal that these calls never happened, even though it may be observed and recorded. The "caller" has never even picked up the phone in the process, suggesting 467 has a powerful form of telepathy. These calls often divulge information that the user previously did not know, most commonly secrets and confessions, ranging from insignificant to life-changing.

SCP-468 - The Abacus

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chinese_abacus.jpg
SCP-468.
SCP-468 is an abacus in near-perfect condition, with no visible signs of disrepair. 468's beads will move autonomously, despite the lack of any obvious motor or driving system. Periods of the beads' movement are interspersed by periods of rest which usually last three to five hours. The beads will often perform basic operations of arithmetic, though this is not always the case. SCP-468-2 is a former farming village located in the Chinese province of Jiangsu, believed to be the residence of the original owner of 468. Roads, houses, and other sufficiently large man-made structures inside 468-2 will shift their positions as 468 itself moves. All humans and sufficiently large animals within the village are subject to the abacus' effects, including loss of complex mental functions, loss of instinctive and reflexive actions, and reduced brain activity.

SCP-469 - Many-Winged Angel

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp_469.jpg
One of 169's feathers.
SCP-469 appears to be a large mound of avian wings with white, glossy feathers, curled into a massive ball that weighs several tons. These wings are attached at the spine of a humanoid creature at the center of the mass, curled into a fetal position. 469 appears to "feed" exclusively on sound waves. Any human or animal that gets too close to the creature's surface will be quickly enveloped by its wings and drawn inside. Despite the wings' feathers’ soft appearance, each barb has a sharp point that quickly pierces bare flesh, releasing a potent mix of stimulants that immediately activates pain receptors in the victim's body, with additional stimulants keeping the victim from passing out. This is done to make the victim scream, letting 469 feed off their sound until the victim either passes out or dies of blood loss.
  • Agony Beam: Its wings inject a neurotoxin that causes unbearable pain in the victim by stimulating all their pain receptors. The toxin also contains stimulants that keep the victim from passing out too quickly from the pain.
  • Angelic Abomination: Far from an unorthodox angel.
  • Bizarre Alien Biology: Its wings have a skeletal structure more akin to that of a snake than a bird's wings, which allows them to be more effective as weapons/stingers, but the bones within are also able to "lock up" to make it more capable of flying or defending itself.
  • Elemental Absorption: It absorbs sound through its wings for sustenance.
  • The Faceless: Its true appearance beneath all the wings is unclear, though it's apparently humanoid.
  • Fallen Angel: The rewrite seems to imply this. The angel, upon hearing a bell ring, tried to escape by tearing open the roof and flying straight upward into the sky. However, with each ascent, it lost more and more feathers until it dropped from the sky and into a local forest. It was retrieved afterward with no resistance and resumed its usual inactive phase… though some personnel could hear "muffled weeping" within its wings.
  • Good Wings, Evil Wings: Subverted. Its wings are white, but it's far from benevolent.
  • Light Is Not Good: It is covered entirely in white wings but will inject a neurotoxin to any human or animal that comes too close in order to feed itself from their screams.
  • Loves the Sound of Screaming: It feeds on it.
  • Our Angels Are Different: It resembles the common depiction of angels, albeit with more wings.
  • Poisonous Person: Its feathers release a neurotoxin that stimulates all the pain receptors in the body, causing its victim to scream, thus feeding it even more.
  • Razor Wings: Its wings are like stingers.
  • Retcon: What happens when it hears a bell ringing was originally hidden behind a "[DATA EXPUNGED]". The author rewrote this later due to being dissatisfied with it, instead revealing that the creature turned its feathers into a suit of armor and tried to escape.
  • Sizeshifter: The more sound it absorbs, the bigger it gets and the more wings it grows.
  • Stealth Pun: SCP-469 especially likes the sound of bells as its power source... as in, every time a bell rings, an angel gets its wings.
  • Winged Humanoid: Its true form is humanoid, though constantly buried in its mass of wings and feathers. It is apparently capable of flight with its wings, though how that's physically possible when it has this many wings is anyone's guess.

SCP-470 - Nexus of Abandoned Places

SCP-470 is an abandoned office building that appears to house a dimensional anomaly, if the building itself is not a dimensional anomaly. This anomaly causes 470's internal rooms to "shift" and transform into other locations that have been abandoned for extended periods of time. The rooms of 470 appear to exist both in their original physical location and within the building simultaneously. Manifested rooms appear to be cut off from their original surrounding locations, with all doors besides the "entry" door opening up to blank brick walls of the same construction as 470. These locations appear to originate from a location outside of the prime reality, and they are determined to be unstable, being noted to "flicker" and cease existing within the building at random points.

SCP-471 - A Satellite

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/satellite.jpg
471 in orbit.
SCP-471 is an artificial satellite currently in an elliptical orbit around Earth. Since its discovery, 471 has transmitted constantly, looping every few minutes. The satellite's signal is stronger than any other signal that any Earth agency is capable of producing, and all attempts to block it have met with failure. The contents of the transmissions are heavily encrypted. While most of the values' purposes remain unknown, several of them were identified to correspond precisely with discrete values relating to Earth, including the global population, the number of births and deaths that have occurred over a single orbit, the number of artificial satellites currently in orbit, and the total amount of nuclear weapons and power plants on the planet.

SCP-472 - The Bloodstone

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp_472_new.jpg
472 on a flat surface.
SCP-472 is a red garnet of the pyrope-spessartite variety in unusual size. The phrase "For man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart" has been engraved on the stone's surface. When an organism possessing a heartbeat passes within 18m of 472, they will begin to hear the distant beating of a heart within their head. Prolonged exposure to the stone causes a variety of additional psychological effects, including high-level feelings of anxiety and paranoia, and hallucinations of blood trailing down the walls, dead bodies, thumping sounds, screaming, and ambulatory corpse-like figures approaching them. After an hour of exposure, all subjects are rendered mentally incapable of leaving the stone's influence. 38% of subjects are rendered catatonic, which has a 76% fatality rate if subjects are not removed from the stone's area of influence.
  • Terrible Ticking: Anyone within 18 meters of SCP-472 will hear the distant beating of their own heart. Listening to the heartbeat causes negative psychological symptoms. The longer the subject listens to the heartbeat the worse the symptoms become, starting with unease, anxiety and guilt and eventually leading to paranoia, hallucinations and catatonia (with a 76% chance of death).
  • Vampiric Draining: Anyone who goes within 18 meters of SCP-472 will lose up to 1.35 percent of their biomass. It's implied in the article that it's somehow feeding on its victims by draining their blood.

SCP-473 - Supai

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp_473.jpg
A sonar image of 473.
SCP-473 is a wrecked Spanish galleon typical of those manned in the early 16th century. Phenomena encountered by ships approaching 473 include disembodied voices, minor physical disturbances, unidentified vibrations, impacts, and electrical disturbances that cause primary and emergency lighting to fail. This results in absolute darkness within aboard the approaching ship which, combined with the persuasive voices created by the galleon, causes extreme disorientation.

SCP-474 - ℞FM

SCP-474 are pills collaboratively produced for non-medicinal purposes by Alexylva University and the Oneiroi Collective. When ingested, the pills will affect the consumer until the next time they enter REM sleep. Audio broadcasts from Alexyla University, consisting of station breaks and notes associated with a campus' radio station, will begin playing through their open mouths.

SCP-475 - Soap of a Pope

SCP-475 is a sculpture of an unidentified Catholic Pope carved from soap. Inscribed at the base of the statue is the phrase "Cleanliness is next to Godliness." When 475 comes into contact with water and is applied to a subject's skin, 100% of all accumulated foreign contaminants are removed from the body. The process is only capable of occurring when used on human skin. The sculpture carries a secondary anomalous effects which manifests when it is used on a professing member of an organized religion, these subjects universally reporting greater mental clarity and show a greater adherence to church doctrine. These effects increase in intensity the longer the subject uses the object, culminating in local reality changes.

SCP-476 - Map to Nowhere

SCP-476 is a 60-page Rand McNally Canada Road Atlas, containing a large number of anomalies regarding its listed locations, which are largely misnamed, misplaced, missing, and even some which do not exist. Using the map, allows for a subject to reach every single one of the locations. If an attempt is made to continue toward a location without regularly consulting the map, the users will miss the nonexistent location and be returned to surrounding "normal" geography. People inhabiting these locations appear completely oblivious to the absence of their titles on normal maps, dismissing the map as "not up-to-date", and always seem eager to convince newcomers to settle there to the area.
  • Missing Floor: It's a version of this for streets, neighborhoods, and towns.
  • Shout-Out: To trap streets, which are fictitious locations placed on maps in order to trick counterfeiters.

SCP-477 - Fossil Sea

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/seafossil.jpg
Fossilized trilobites moving through a sheet of rock.
SCP-477 is a collection of fossilized aquatic organisms dating back to the Precambrian era, housed within a layer of shale stone in the Zavkhan province of Mongolia. These fossils are fully capable of motion, and appear to "swim" through sedimentary rock as though it were water. The fossils are also able to transfer between differing stone surfaces, but they are also known to invade the materials that compose buildings, compromising the buildings' structural stability.

SCP-478 - Tooth Fairies

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp_478_1.jpg
An instance of 478 in a glass cage.
SCP-478 are small entities of inconsistent size and shape that resemble butterflies or moths in flight. The creatures are somewhat predatory and normally feed exclusively on humans under the age of 25. The creatures will enter a victim’s mouth while they sleep, and attach themselves onto the palate in the upper nasal cavity, usually blocking one nostril. The subject's mucus production will increase, leading the victim to believe that they have developed a minor cold upon waking. The victim's palate will soon begin to generate teeth in addition to the gums’ normal replacement of teeth. This process will begin at a rate several times faster than normal tooth growth, and quickly increases in speed and severity.
  • Body Horror: After SCP-478 infects a human victim's mouth, teeth will begin to grow at a tremendous rate. The growth will fill the victim's palate and then spread to the rest of the digestive tract, lungs and underneath the skin.
  • More Teeth than the Osmond Family: Any creature infected by SCP-478 will end up with a literal mouth full of teeth.
  • The Needless: Instances of SCP-478 don't seem to need to eat, sleep, breathe, or even breed.

SCP-479 - Hallway 4, D-Class Dorms, Site 14

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/schiffbau_tunnel_small.jpg
Hallway 4, with no sign of the hallucinations.
SCP-479 is "Hallway 4", a 25m long hallway in Site 14, connecting the D-Class dormitories to the site's laundry room. People entering Hallway 4 are said to have witnessed powerful visual, auditory, and olfactory hallucinations of blood, ranging from isolated spots on the floor to blood raining upwards, hitting the floor from the other side like the pane of a window. No abnormal chemicals are present within the hallway itself, but antipsychotic medications are ineffective. Neurological analysis of subjects with no prior history of mental illness is pending, but so far is inconclusive.

SCP-480 - Recurring Nightmare Field

SCP-480 is a localized electromagnetic field generated by an unknown source, capable of inducing substantial changes to human consciousness and physiology. Subjects placed in 480 experience a mental state similar to dreaming, and become largely unresponsive to external stimuli. In this state, subjects experience the perception of a recurring period of time, either a recent event or a period of time perceived to be in the near future. Each occurrence experienced by those within the field consists of an event or series of events that will cause heightened sensations of existential dread and/or terror. Removal of affected individuals from 480 has invariably resulted in spontaneous cerebral hemorrhaging in subjects, causing brain death within minutes.

SCP-481 - Scar Tissue

SCP-481 is a clustered pattern of scars corresponding to a variably partial map of a city in India, 481 is able to spread to various hosts since its creation, its current hosts being a native Indian woman and a former Foundation agent. The scars are a perfect recreation of the city, and the growth of new scars corresponds to the expansion of the already overcrowded metropolis, including slums set up on unofficial roads. Described as excruciatingly painful by 481's hosts, the effect is not limited to growth. Any demolition of a portion of the city leads to a severely painful scouring of the corresponding patterns. The scars cover 100% of the skin, including the scalp, of the woman and approximately 47% of the skin of the former agent, from the shoulders to the lower torso, including both arms.

SCP-482 - Mentally Mutating Straitjacket

SCP-482 is a black leather straitjacket that has two known effects occurring in a linear fashion whenever the item is worn. The initial stage of infection, designated Time Point Alpha, will leave the subject feeling "mentally better" as any mental afflictions that the subject possesses, regardless of intensity, are negated completely. Once Alpha lapses, Time Point Beta will commence if subject is still wearing 482. During this period, the subject experiences physical mutation seemingly determined by the nature of the mental disorder. Should the subject have multiple mental illnesses, the mutations will manifest according to their degree of strength.

SCP-483 - Anti-Aging Placebos

SCP-483 is a standard prescription bottle filled with 50 spherical, gray tablets (SCP-483-1). When 483-1 is ingested by an organism possessing a stomach capable of digesting a form of medication, all existing memories, documents, and records regarding the organism's age are altered, decreasing the recorded age by one full year. If the pills are ingested in a quantity greater than an organism's original age, the organism loses all memory aside from their functional memory, all existing information regarding the subject vanishes, and all those who knew the subject lose any and all memories regarding them.

SCP-484 - Memory Stealing Drug

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp_484.jpg
An opened package of 484.
SCP-484 is a pharmaceutical drug of unknown origin. When ingested, 484 causes the brain to produce a chemical compound previously unknown to human science. Subjects experience rapidly increasing brain activity and pupil dilation. When a subject exposed to to the drug makes eye contact with an unaffected person, a telepathic connection will be established between the two subjects. The subject having ingested 484 will begin to experience hallucinations of the other subject's memories, while the unexposed subject enters semi-hypnotic state. Repeated use of 484 builds a familiarity with the hallucinations, and certain subjects have been able to move through a subject's memory at will, similar to a lucid dreamer altering a dream.

SCP-485 - Death Pen

SCP-485 is a standard retractable pen with an unusually easy-to-click button. Each time the pen's tip is extended, a random person known to its current user will die instantaneously through unknown means. Since the button's action is abnormally smooth, subjects used in testing were noted to rapidly click the pen without conscious thought or the realization of what was happening.

SCP-486 - Coatlicue Skin

SCP-486 is a Hispanic woman 29 years of age who is missing her left arm from the elbow. When she experiences an injury that would normally induce bleeding, a growth that resembles a reddish-brown snake of unknown species will emerge from the wound. This growth does not detach from 486's body, instead extending to approximately four times the length of the snake's head before ceasing. Despite being anchored to 486, this growth appears to be autonomous and will attempt to bite any human within range, injecting them with venom filled with toxins lethal to human beings. The only exception to these attacks is 486 herself.
  • An Arm and a Leg: The SCP is missing her left arm from the elbow.
  • Meaningful Name: Coatlicue is an Aztec goddess who also had her blood emerge in the form of a snake.
  • Noodle Incident: It's not revealed what happens when she suffers from internal bleeding or is going through her menstrual cycle.

SCP-487 - The Impossible House

SCP-487 is a house located in the Northeastern United States. The house constantly changes its appearance and structure depending on the arrangement of the peculiar items inside it. Inside 487 are exactly 3,294 items of occult origin, which are carefully arranged throughout the house according to strict Feng Shui principles. Individually, none of the items show any kind of supernatural ability. However, when these items are in close proximity, and are arranged in a particular way, they create a synergistic effect that grants 487 its anomalous properties.
  • Alien Geometries: Moving or removing any of the supernatural objects inside SCP-487 has variable effects, such as changing the internal structure of the house or causing anomalous events outside of it.
  • Bigger on the Inside: The basement area is larger than it should be according to the house's blueprints. It's a maze of doors, hallways, and rooms with no apparent pattern.

SCP-488 - Meteor Attractor

SCP-488 is a 26-year old Caucasian man, physiologically normal in all respects, apart from heavy scarring acquired from his anomalous property: the ability to compel meteors and various interstellar objects to his location whenever he moves, all of them impacting with in 100m of him. These objects have been found to originate from SCP-488-1, a location near Earth's L4 Lagrangian Point. While direct observation of this location has shown nothing stationary to date, objects ranging from 0.5 to 12 m in diameter will spontaneously appear at this location when 488 is moving, and will immediately accelerate towards the Earth. The Foundation has been developing contingency plans should any objects originating from 488-1 continue to increase in size until they are a threat to containment, including the possible termination of 488.

SCP-489 - 1-555-BUG-BASH

SCP-489 is a large, dome-shaped conglomerate mass consisting entirely of objects used to kill or repel insects. Every single one of these items is capable of independent autonomous movement, though they usually move along the ground as a whole when in motion, primarily to eradicate nearby insects. The center of the mass holds a badly damaged transit van originally belonging to "Xtreme Xtermination Services", which contains a human skeleton sitting in the driver seat.
  • Animate Inanimate Object: It's a collection of objects used to kill or repel insects that can move around and kill insects.
  • The Assimilator: It seeks to incorporate any nearby bug-killing objects into itself.
  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: Some of the specimens it's collected are even about 4 or 5 meters long!
  • The Collector: It collects the corpses of the insects it's killed and puts them in jars in the van in its center.
  • Dem Bones: The mass' central van contains a human skeleton.
  • Humanoid Abomination: One of its specimens, labelled appropriately "The Bug Man", is a humanoid with the eyes and proboscis of a housefly.
  • Posthumous Character: The SCP's creator is dead.

SCP-490 - Ice Cream Truck

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/490_5.jpg
490 in an inactive state.
SCP-490 is an ice cream truck dating to the 1960s. Between the hours of 2 to 5am local time, 490 will operate itself, driving at low speeds in a random circuit through local roadways. At this time, it will function as if in peak condition, playing a tune from its speakers. Any individual who hears this music will start advancing towards the vehicle, ignoring all instructions to stop. Upon reaching the vehicle, the truck's back doors will open and the person will step inside, the doors closing behind them and rendering themselves sealed, impossible to open by regular means. After 5am, 490 will lose its abnormal abilities and the back doors can be opened. Any person that has entered the truck during the time its music was playing will have vanished, revealed to have been processed into what has been referred to as "Super Surprise Flavor" ice cream treats.
  • Bad Humor Truck: It's a sentient ice cream truck that uses anomalous music to compel people into entering it so that it can process them into "Super Surprise Flavor!" ice cream.
  • Compelling Voice: Or rather Compelling Song. The song it plays compels any nearby people to step into its back one at a time and disregard any warnings against doing so.
  • Human Resources: Its "Super Surprise Flavor!" ice cream contains human flesh from the unlucky person it has managed to entrance and capture.
  • It Can Think: It's perfectly capable of operating on its own, and it tried to escape upon being surrounded by Foundation vehicles.
  • Sentient Vehicle: Between 2-5am, it activates and operates by itself to search for more victims.

SCP-491 - Wrecking Light

SCP-491 is a lighthouse built in the early 20th century, located in Nova Scotia, Canada. The ocean floor surrounding 491 contains numerous wrecked ships varying in time of origin, ranging from 1923 to 1987. The area within the lighthouse's perimeter is subject to spontaneous change caused by minor earthquakes, which result in the production of large rocks or shallows in the path of an incoming ship, inevitably sinking it. At random intervals, 491's lamp will activate, producing a rotating green light. Any area of the surrounding ocean illuminated by this light will reveal several ships identical to those present on the seafloor. These ships only appear for a short period, due to the rate at which the lamp rotates.

SCP-492 - Animated Cloth Dummy

SCP-492 was formerly an animatronic dummy for a pirate attraction in an abandoned amusement park, given the nickname "Captain Jack". Through unknown circumstances, Jack has gained motor skills and sentience. He does not appear to feel pain, his body seemingly remaining unaffected by physical attacks. The soft cloth that composes Jack's body absorbs blunt attacks harmlessly, and damage incurred as a result of Jack being pierced, cut, or ripped can easily be repaired by sewing him back together. Jack also demonstrates an intense fear of fire, most likely due to his flammable nature. Jack can also think, learn, comprehend abstract concepts, solve puzzles, and feel emotion. IQ tests reveal him to be slightly above average with a score of 112. Jack's friendly and overtly helpful attitude and non threatening nature, have convinced the O5 council to allow Jack to freely interact with on-site personnel.
  • Become a Real Boy: A test with SCP-978 shows its greatest desire is to become human.
  • Demonic Dummy: Averted. "Captain Jack" is friendly, helpful, and quite harmless, to the point of being inducted into its Foundation site's staff.
  • Kill It with Fire: SCP-492 is made of cloth, so it is highly vulnerable to fire and can be easily destroyed by flame.
  • Logical Weakness:
    • Because SCP-492 is made of cloth, it is almost immune to physical attacks such as blows. However, its cloth body also makes it very vulnerable to flame.
    • "Captain Jack" also lacks musculature, and so can neither hit hard nor lift anything heavier than a pound.
  • Nice Guy: "Captain Jack" is quite friendly.
  • The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: Well, it was part of a children's attraction.

SCP-493 - Replicant

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp_493_4.jpg
An elderly instance of 493.
SCP-493 is a group of genetically identical men of apparent ages between 20 and 90. Each instance of 493 in containment is fluent in English and multiple dialects of German, speaking with a moderate Swiss-German accent. When an instance of 493 dies, nothing abnormal presents itself immediately. The corpse will decompose naturally, but approximately 3 hours after death, two younger 493 instances will materialize in close proximity to the location of the original instance's death. These two new instances are identical to each other, and maintain the memories of all of their previous lives.

SCP-494 - Matter Transference Gloves

SCP-494 appears to be a pair of black leather fingerless gloves. The gloves' anomalous features can only be observed while worn by a human subject. When an object is held in each gloved hand, the objects’ makeup will be traded instantaneously after 5 minutes. The range of materials that can be traded seems to have no limit, and has been observed to create working machines and living organisms from the materials provided. For reasons unknown, the gloves will refuse to perform their function when worn by a subject over the age of sixty.

SCP-495 - Thingmaker

SCP-495 is the oven of a 1992 "Creepy Crawlers" playset. When not plugged into an electrical outlet, the oven, upon insertion of a filled or partially-filled mold, will have its activation switch moved to the "ON" position automatically. The oven begins to gain warmth from an unknown source, and after 8 minutes, 495 will switch itself off. All molded items will animate upon removal from the oven, behaving as though they were actual organisms. Dissection of these objects reveals tissues and other internal structures composed entirely of whatever material was used to fill the mold.

SCP-496 - A Sunken Contagion

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/infection_4.jpg
A manatee infected by 496.
SCP-496 is a substance composed primarily of calcium carbonate, which covers 35 square kilometers of the sea floor, located 84 kilometers off the coast of Jakarta, Indonesia. The substance has characteristics of a waterborne contagion, and is capable of infecting an organism via contact with the skin. Once 496 has infected an organic substance, it will gradually convert all organic compounds of the subject into more of itself.

SCP-497 - The Shell

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/conch.jpg
SCP-497.
SCP-497 is a conch shell that has been revealed through recordings to continuously emit very faint screaming voices from within itself. The sound is known to dissipate inches away from the object. Subjects that hold the shell to their ear and listen to it for more than 20 seconds will appear to fall unconscious, upon which they will disintegrate and become absorbed inside 497. During periods of high magnitude sound production, any subject that hears the sound of the shell will be absorbed into it, even if not in close proximity to the object.

SCP-498 - 11 Minute Snooze

SCP-498 is an electronic alarm clock with a yellow LED display, set to U.S. Central Time. When heard by a subject, the alarm has been known to induce a state of increased alertness until it is reset via the "snooze" button. The clock's alarm will go off every 11 minutes, the sound starting at 30 decibels and gradually increasing by 4 decibels in volume for every 10 seconds that the snooze button is not pressed. There has been no evidence that this process will cease anytime soon. The sound waves produced by 498 have been seen to damage nearby structures, cause internal bleeding, and are theorized to potentially cause major seismic activity through their increasing intensity.

SCP-499 - Old Sun Man

SCP-499 is a man of indeterminate race who is estimated to be at least 80 years of age. The man's body showcases heavy burn scarring, his eyes are severely damaged by over-exposure to light, and his respiratory system has been heavily damaged by smoke inhalation, effectively rendering him blind and mute. 499 will also remain passive to any direct interaction. SCP-499-2 is a metallic sphere measuring 1.1 meters in diameter, composed primarily of nickel-iron alloy. At sunrise, local time, 499-2 will begin to emit light of approx. 100,000 lumens, and heat of approximately 120°C. 499 will then begin to push the sphere in a wide circle, with 499-2’s position relative to the diameter of the circle when aligned to geographic north, correlating with the relative angle of the sun above the horizon in the relative time zone.

    500- 549

SCP-500 - Panacea

SCP-500 is a small plastic can which currently contains 47 red pills. One of these pills, when taken orally, effectively cures the subject of any and all diseases within two hours. The exact time of this effect often depends on the severity of the disease and the amount of the subject's potential health conditions. The attempts to replicate these pills have often failed to match the effects of the originals.

SCP-501 - Monk's Greed

SCP-501 produces psychological effects when viewed directly, so it is therefore difficult to ascertain an accurate visual description of it. According to reports from D-class personnel who have had visual contact with the object, 501 has been described as an American one-dollar bill that radiates a glowing aura. When a person views 501 directly, they are immediately overwhelmed by an intensive desire to obtain it. Studies have shown that this desire fades overtime, but that time increases exponentially the longer 501 is viewed.

SCP-502 - The Surrogate Heart

SCP-502, when unlabeled, appears as an off-white cardboard container. When the name of an appropriate organ is written on the lid, 502 slowly rearranges itself into a crude approximation of that organ. If 502 is surgically implanted into a human subject while labeled as an organ and appropriately attached to the relevant systems, it will function in a manner identical to the organ.

SCP-503 - The Luckiest Man in the World

SCP-503 is a Caucasian man, 63 years of age, whose lower jaw is a prosthetic, and has a large scar on his chest. 503 demonstrates a remarkable proclivity toward short-term good luck and long-term misfortune. 503's ability has thus far allowed him to survive three automobile accidents, falling from a 34th story window, a plane crash in the North Atlantic, and the destruction of the World Trade Center. Although he has won the lottery on two separate occasions, his medical bills left him in heavy debt. 503 is currently being studied to determine if his properties can be reverse-engineered to increase the survival chances of field agents.

SCP-504 - Critical Tomatoes

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tomato2.jpg
A bushel of 504 fruit.
SCP-504 is a species of tomato physically and genetically identical to that of the typical commercially-grown tomato plant. The major distinction between regular tomatoes and 504 is that individual fruits react to bad jokes made within their radius, to which they will respond by hurling themselves at the subject responsible at incredible (and in many cases terminal) speeds. The Foundation is working to identify and destroy loose strains of 504 growing in commercial farming areas.
  • Actually Pretty Funny: One tomato responded to a joke by twitching, but ultimately not moving from its original location.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: They react to groan-worthy jokes by attacking whoever or whatever made the joke. The trope is played with in that the speed and force of the attack is actually proportional to just how bad the joke was, but any violence in response to unfunniness is still over-the-top.
  • Eye Scream: One D-class personnel had his right eye destroyed by a piece of tomato when he made a bad joke.
  • It Can Think: When exposed to a political SNL sketch, the tomato was observed to change its velocity several times mid-throw, including one instance of going backwards. The researcher hypothesized that the tomato was unsure whether or not to 'take it seriously'.
    • The bad German copy of the joke from Monty Python's "The Funniest Joke in the World" sketch. Since the joke is that the joke isn't funny, and the joke itself is actually funny, but removed from the context that makes it funny... the tomato exploded.
  • Lame Pun Reaction: If a bad joke (especially terrible puns) are made in earshot of them, the tomatoes will launch themselves at whoever made the joke, usually at speeds of hundreds of miles per hour.
  • Noodle Incident: When one of the tomatoes was exposed to a portable computer playing the text of SCP-904, the result was [DATA EXPUNGED].
  • Produce Pelting: These are tomatoes that hurl themselves at anyone who makes a bad joke within earshot.
  • Take That!: Its reaction to Dane Cook and Saturday Night Live sketches.

SCP-505 - Ink Stain

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scppen.jpg
505 spilling ink.
SCP-505 is a Faber-Castell fountain pen, identical in all respects to a standard fountain pen apart from its association with SCP-505-1, the black ink it produces. This ink exhibits no unusual properties other than its constant spread, partial resistance, and the property of self-replication, it nonetheless poses serious difficulties for employees in positions of authority. All objects and beings in contact with 505-1 will be contaminated. Exposure to the ink will inevitably lead to the death of living organisms via chemical poisoning and organ failure, whereas plant matter will be killed due to inhibition of photosynthesis. In humans and other mammals, 505-1 contact will most likely be via the skin, spread through the vasculature. This will have catastrophic effects on all organ systems, as 505-1 continuously replicates and is unable to be excreted.

SCP-506 - Instant-growing Plants

SCP-506 is a genetically engineered variant of zucchini that exhibits several dangerous qualities. It will attempt to grow on any organic material, including living beings, as its inedible seeds germinate on contact. The plant also grows extremely rapidly, reaching full size in five minutes. Soil that has been used to grow 506 instances will not allow anything else to grow without extensive nutrient replacement.

SCP-507 - Reluctant Dimension Hopper

See Characters.SCP Foundation SC Ps 001 To 999.

SCP-508 - Random-dot Stereogram

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/steregram_scp.jpg
A sub-critical portion of 508.
SCP-508 appears to be a "Random Dot Stereo-gram" poster of dimensions 255x197cm. Caution must be taken when interacting with the poster, as even a cursory glance draws the viewer's attention, giving them an overwhelming desire to properly view the "hidden" image. Viewing said image appears to only be possible when the viewer stands 1 m in front of the image, and stares directly at it. Once the viewer has achieved proper focus, the poster seems to function as a window to another location ranging from banal, to surreal, to potentially maddening. After the same amount of time has passed with the user viewing through the window, the interface appears to undergo a secondary change and becomes permeable, although only to the viewer and the viewed area.

SCP-509 - Men Are Pigs

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp_509.jpg
509-A, currently unoccupied.
SCP-509 is the collective designation for two structures with similar, possibly linked anomalies. SCP-509-A is a wooden sauna located in Gaston, Oregon. When used by a human, 509-A produces clouds of smoke in lieu of steam. After approx. 155 minutes, all humans in 509-A are no longer present within the structure, replaced by an equal number of pig carcasses. SCP-509-B is a brick smokehouse located near Hesdin, France, which exhibits similar anomalous properties to SCP-509-A. Whenever one or more pig carcasses are placed into 509-B, it ceases to produce smoke and instead produces steam. After 12 minutes, the carcasses present are replaced by living humans, who claim to have been at a sauna.

SCP-510 - Soft Death

SCP-510 has so far proven difficult to fully identify. It is possibly either a microorganism or "nanite". The particles of 510 appear to be surrounded by a field that causes a "blurring" effect, even at high magnification. The object infests soft surfaces such as fabric, feathers, hair, and foam, with the ability to remain dormant in such substances for years. If it encounters delta waves, typically emitted by humans entering REM sleep, 510 will activate and begin to infest any nearby organic life. Infestation follows a set progression, most often ending with the death of infested subjects after 4 to 6 days.

SCP-511 - Basement Cat

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/basementcats.jpg
511-1 standing guard in a basement.
SCP-511 is a large mass of biological matter taking the form of a cat, adorned with extra limbs, eyes, mouths and organs. It is typically coated with dirt, blood, and fecal matter, making its fur appear black despite its actual coloring. The mass is always found associated with SCP-511-1, a colony of feral cats whose carcasses primarily make up the mass's tissue. The portion of 511 that does not comprise 511-1 consists of other biomass, usually small rodents, various plants, insects and larvae, and black mold. 511 prefers to inhabit dark spaces with relatively high humidity, such as basements and crawlspaces. It will continually scavenge its immediate area for new biomass to incorporate into itself, displacing and expelling matter that has decayed past its usefulness.

SCP-512 - Gravity-Nullifying Umbrella

SCP-512 is a black stainless steel umbrella with a nylon canopy and a polished ebony crook handle. When opened and pointed upward, 512 exerts an upwards force in opposition to Earth's gravitational pull, accumulating this force in a roughly dome-shaped area directly above itself. Precipitation and other objects will be suspended and deflected within the umbrella's current area of effect. Despite its efficacy against normal precipitation, the umbrella is advised not to be used during severe weather. Through an unknown process, the item's anomalous effect causes the air above it to become extremely ionized, which also causes electrical current to greatly increase in amperage while in direct contact with the item. This causes the threat of lightning strikes to become exceptionally dangerous to any individual holding 512.

SCP-513 - A Cowbell

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cowbell_3.jpg
Be warned; 513-1 can hear you now.
SCP-513 is an unremarkable, rusted cowbell. Any noise produced by 513, however, immediately induces strong anxiety in all sentient beings who hear it, regardless of their previous mental status. Victims report feelings of being watched by an unseen entity, as well as elevated heart rate and blood pressure. One hour after exposure, victims begin to catch glimpses of SCP-513-1 when performing any actions that result in a sudden change in visual perception. Descriptions of 513-1's appearance are largely unreliable, as subjects are unable to provide complete accounts of sightings due to their exhaustion, degraded mental health, and disruptive hypervigilance. All interrogations thus far indicate that 513-1 is a tall, emaciated humanoid with abnormally large hands. To curtail sightings of 513-1, 513 is to be housed in a cube of gelatin, which must be inspected on a daily basis.
  • Hidden Harasser: Anyone who hears a noise made by SCP-513 (such as it being rung) is thereafter stalked by an emaciated humanoid with large hands. The humanoid is invisible to everyone except those who heard the noise. The stalking causes sleep deprivation and mental stress, causing the victim to suffer paranoia and depression. All but one of the known victims has committed suicide.

SCP-514 - A Flock of Doves

SCP-514 is a flock of white homing pigeons whose individual birds seems to project an area around themselves that nullifies any act of aggression around them. The area of influence renders every known type of weapon inoperable in the birds' presence, often destroying affected weapons after prolonged exposure. Firearms will jam or misfire, explosives will be rendered inert, and melee weapons will disintegrate.

SCP-515 - Sleeper

SCP-515 is a 14-year-old child who seems to be locked into a permanent state of dreamless sleep. While his mass is slightly below average for humans of similar ages, the child's basal metabolic rate is comparable to that of a blue whale. For the entire duration of his containment, 515 has ingested no food or water, and has excreted no waste products from his body. While he has been known to speak on rare occasions, the true reason that he has been kept alive in this state is still under study.

SCP-516 - Intelligent Tank

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tank_87.jpg
The tank on the testing range.
SCP-516 is a standard model T-55 battle tank. 516's primary anomalous properties are its main armament (a 100mm D10 tank gun) and turret assembly, from here designated as SCP-516-1. When loaded with compatible ammunition, 516-1 exhibits limited autonomy. When a subject attempts to damage the tank, 516-1 will track and fire upon it if it is physically possible to neutralize the threat, regardless of whether the tank is crewed. Though its autonomy allows it to open fire on possible threats, 516 displays a strong sense of morality, actively refusing to shoot innocent or unarmed subjects, and trying to cause as little damage as possible if it must open fire. The tank shows uncontrolled aggression to traitors to its country of origin, firing on said traitors on the spot.
  • Berserk Button: The SCP will kill traitors to its native country on the spot without its usual sense of restraint.
  • Gentle Giant: It's a weapon of war, but is otherwise quite benign when left to its own devices. When SCP-978note  was used to see what SCP-516 desired most, it was shown simply "living" peacefully in a meadow, overgrown with plants.
  • I Am Not a Gun: See above.
  • My Country, Right or Wrong: Traitors to the country of 516's origin are afforded absolutely no mercy.
  • Never Hurt an Innocent: It will protect itself if it has to, but will make absolutely certain to cause as little damage as possible to those that mean it no harm (or are incapable of harming it).
  • Sapient Tank: It's Exactly What It Says on the Tin.
  • Take a Third Option: One test involved a D-class personnel suicide-bombing the tank while handcuffed to an unarmed person equipped with a kill-switch that would blow him up if the former ever died. 516 implicitly killed the scientist overseeing the test just as he was issuing instructions.
  • Tank Goodness: Literally. It's a T-55 made in the Ukrainian SSR, and it appears to have a very strong sense of morality.
  • Three Laws-Compliant: If it isn't self-aware, then it's most definitely this.
  • Undying Loyalty: Traitors to the country of 516's origin are afforded absolutely no mercy.

SCP-517 - Grammie Knows

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dsc07022.jpg
517 on discovery.
SCP-517 is a fortune-telling machine with the words "Grandmother Predictions" painted on a sign above it. The animatronic puppet within is designed as an elderly woman, with a white blouse and a blue shawl. The puppet will energize itself automatically, once per hour, when an individual enters its field of vision. The puppet will turn to face directly at the subject, dispense a "fortune card" from the slot on its front, and cease function. The individual who "activated" 517 will become the primary target of the machine's anomalous feature. At 1:43 AM local time the following morning, a varying number of long, multi-jointed arms, which gradually appear from all areas surrounding the subject, will apprehend the subject and drag them into a chosen area, where the arms will savagely beat them to death.

SCP-518 - The Transinformational Tomb of Asa Rutledge

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sawmill.jpg
A portion of 518.
SCP-518 is a complex housed in a small valley consisting of 11 wooden structures in varying states of repair, designed and built in the style of structures commonly found in newly-settled areas of the American West during the mid-19th century. SCP-518-1 is a short narrative, first documented upon the initial exploration of 518. Whenever 518-1 is read in its entirety by a sapient, comprehending individual, the complex undergoes spontaneous physical changes. In most cases, the changes entail the movement of structures in relation to each other and rearrangement of their interior features. In some cases, readings will cause new structures to appear, or existing structures to simply cease existing. Research has determined that these changes occur either instantaneously or at speeds beyond the observational capability of current technology.

SCP-519 - Cheeky Phone Booth

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2199236004_bbae873028.jpg
The phone within 519.
SCP-519 is a Model 7 Southwestern Bell telephone booth with heavy graffiti. When the receiver on the booth's phone is lifted, the user is greeted by a voice asking them for their correspondent's name or phone number. Any person may be requested, as long as a connection to a phone dedicated to that person can be reasonably established. Once a number or person has been requested the appropriate rate will be demanded before further actions can be taken. The voice will proceed to make witty and sarcastic comments during the user's call. Vocabulary and speech patterns of the voice during this time vary greatly, but they appear to roughly match those of the user. Interrogating the voice itself makes it grow increasingly aggressive in its refusal to answer until the conversation is cut, whereupon a "busy" tone begins playing at deafening levels.

SCP-520 - Knife Switch

SCP-520 consists of two large quadruple knife switches constructed from wood, ceramic, and copper. Every time a switch is flipped, it will turn a random electrical device on or off permanently. The first switch (SCP-520-1) automatically affects a random device less than 10 meters away from it. The second switch (SCP-520-2) allows for a maximum distance into to be programmed, and it will only affect a certain type of device. 520-2 will pick a new type of device at random after every 10 times it is flipped. If 520-2 is not brought to any device that it can affect, it will either refuse to activate or will increase its maximum distance.
  • Big Electric Switch: When activated, it opens or closes the primary power supply circuit of an electrical device somewhere on Earth. This can be anything from a toaster to a fail-safe device in a nuclear reactor.

SCP-521 - The Postbox

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp521.jpg
521, with the address redacted.
SCP-521 is a red United Kingdom Royal Mail postbox. When a letter is inserted through the slot of 521, the anomalous effects of the object will activate. 24 hours after the time of posting, the mailed item will arrive at its destination. The original letter posted will not be found inside the envelope, instead replaced with an instance of SCP-521-X. 521-X are letters written during periods of conflict, often addressed from combatants to family members or friends. Comparison of historical records places the bulk of these letters as occurring during World Wars I and II.

SCP-522 - Blood-draining Carpet

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp_522.png
A swatch of 522.
SCP-522 is a swatch of red carpet, 3.5 meters on each side. When a human being stands atop it, 522 wraps its fibers around the victim with surprising speed. Once the victim is completely enfolded, thousands of hair-like protrusions will extend from the surface of the carpet and dig into the victim’s skin, quickly draining them of their blood over several minutes. After draining the victim’s blood, the carpet unwraps them and returns to its original position, leaving the victim in a heap at its center.
  • Vampiric Draining: When a human being stands on the middle of the carpet, it will wrap itself around the person, insert thousands of hairs into the them and drain them of all of their blood in a few minutes.

SCP-523 - The Most Unhelpful Object On Earth

No one is quite sure what SCP-523 actually is, as it does not have a consistent physical form, nor does it have any distinguishing marks by which it can be identified. 523 does however emit a low-frequency telepathic signal that people capable of detecting describe as a "dull ringing sound." 523 is able to "jump" across short distances while unobserved and disguise itself as any inanimate object. 523 will primarily disguise itself as an object that nearby humans are likely to make use of shortly. Once the human has picked up, drawn their attention to, prepared, activated, or otherwise demonstrated that they are going to make use of 523, it will transform into a different object completely unusable or utterly inappropriate for the task at hand.
  • Telepathy: SCP-523 continuously gives off a low-frequency telepathic signal that is heard as a "dull ringing sound" by anyone capable of perceiving telepathic communications.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: When SCP-523 escapes from containment, it changes its form to that of a useful object. When someone tries to use it for a specific purpose, it changes to another form that's not useful at all for that purpose.

SCP-524 - Walter the Omnivorous Rabbit

SCP-524, known as Walter, is a rabbit that can be identified by his white fur, with symmetrical black markings on the body. Walter has shown the ability to safely consume any material, regardless of its edibility. He eats in the same fashion as any other member of his species, though he can eat substances that are not only inedible, but dangerous. He has been recorded chewing through wood, steel, glass, and several kilos of radioactive material, none of which shows any adverse effects to Walter's form. Despite the obvious paradox involved, Walter has been known to fully consume his own body when he is not surrounded by food. He does so by chewing on his tail, slowly eating up past the hind legs, and up towards his head. When he reaches up past his front legs and neck, Walter somehow manages to flip his entire mouth inside-out, consuming his entire head, and disappearing completely. Thanks to a particular cross-test, Walter's unending appetite and his ability to eat any substance has cemented him as one of the very few things SCP-682 is afraid of.

SCP-525 - Eye Spiders

SCP-525 consists of multiple disjoined arthropod legs, 10-15cm in length. DNA identification of the legs has been inconclusive, but the closest match to their genetic structure thus far is the brown recluse spider. The base of each leg ends in several miniature hooks capable of perforating flesh. When eight individual components of 525 are brought within range of each other, they will immediately crawl into a group and attach themselves into a single entity, referred to as SCP-525-1. When a suitable animal is found, 525-1 will climb directly towards the animal's eye. Once it has centered itself over a socket, four of the legs will secure the eyelid while the others extract the eye. Once the eye is free from the owner's socket, 525-1 will implant the base of each leg into the eye, which they will use as a host body. If allowed to remain, 525-1 will lay what appear to be eggs in the socket of its host before climbing off. 525-1 will use the eye they have obtained until it dries out, after which they will seek out a new eye.
  • Eye Scream: SCP-525 is a creature made of spider-like legs that band together to seek out creatures, extract their eyes and lay eggs in their sockets.
  • Face Full of Alien Wing-Wong: SCP-525 looks like a small starfish. It climbs the body of its victim and extracts one of its eyes, then implants eggs in the eye socket. About 24 days later new SCP-525 hatch from the eggs.

SCP-526 - Valhalla Gate

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp526.jpg
A stone pylon situated on 526, decorated with runes.
SCP-526 is a hill in located in Norway, easily identified by a ring of nine stones 2 meters in height, with numerous runes inscribed on their inward surface and placed in a 10 meter radius centered on the top of the hill. Every day at sunrise, SCP-526-2, a group of individuals appearing as fully armed and combat-ready Vikings, will manifest upon 526. The Vikings will typically fortify themselves on or around the hill, and in 92% of instances, will remain stationary until sunset. In the remaining instances, 526-2 will move away from the hill and attempt to attack any individuals they encounter. Immediately after sunset, all instances of 526-2 will disappear, whether alive or dead.

SCP-527 - Mr. Fish

See Characters.SCP Foundation Misters.

SCP-528 - Voodoo Putty

SCP-528 appears to be an inorganic polymer similar to Silly Putty. While virtually identical to regular putty, 528 has proven itself to be completely resistant to tearing, although indentation and cuts are possible. When formed into a ball and thrown, 528 is able to bounce twice as high as normal putty. The main difference between 528 and regular putty is that 528 is capable of copying any picture of a human being it is pressed upon, no matter if ink is involved. Once an image has been placed the putty, the only ways to remove it are to crumple it into a ball or apply rubbing alcohol. Any actions taken upon 528 with a person's picture on it affect the individual pictured as well, usually resulting in death.

SCP-529 - Josie the Half-Cat

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp_529_new.jpg
Josie relaxing.
SCP-529, affectionately named Josie, is a small housecat with grey tabby markings. The parts of the Josie to the rear of the end of the ribcage appear to be missing, and her body terminates sharply as if sliced in two. In spite of this, Josie shows no health problems, and moves about as if her hindquarters were still in place. The cross-section does not display Josie's interior, but appears pure black to the naked eye, absorbing all non-visible wavelengths of light. Josie has also shown to be quite affectionate to Foundation staff, and as such, she is allowed to freely roam parts of her facility.
  • Affectionate Nickname: "Josie", given by Foundation staff.
  • Ambiguous Gender: Due to having no lower half, and, therefore, no genitalia. DNA tests show that she's female, however.
  • Ambiguous Situation: When seen by SCP-187, the girl was confused but ended up petting Josie’s non-existent butt. What this means is uncertain, but it could mean that Josie will become whole one day.
  • Berserk Button: Don't touch the cross-section of her body too much, or she'll claw you.
  • Cats Are Mean: One of the few feline SCPs that actually averts this trope.
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: SCP-524/Josie is a cat with only half a body.
  • Interspecies Friendship: With SCP-530 (aka Carl the variable dog, see below).
  • Team Pet: She's described as very affectionate. As such, she's allowed to freely roam parts of the facility and the staff adore her.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Cheese. Although staff are not allowed to feed her any of it anymore because she gets distressed if not fed enough of it, which seems to imply that some staff liked to spoil her with it.
  • Who Needs Their Whole Body?: Although testing with SCP-978 reveals that her greatest desire is to be whole.

SCP-530 - Carl the Variable Dog

SCP-530, known as Carl, is a small dog in a constant, fluctuating state of physical alteration. Carl's height is known to change from small to large, but these occurrences are rare and do not last long. Carl's fur coat is also in a state of constant change, 467 different hues and an unidentified number of patterns have been recorded. The most extreme flux comes from growth and/or absorption of additional limbs, noses, mouths, eyes, ears and other body parts. While these additional features typically do not last longer than 24 hours, a 3rd eye located slightly left of center atop Carl's head has remained since approximately one half hour after its discovery. Despite his anomalous property, Carl shows playfulness around humans much like any other dog, and like Josie (who he is friends with), the staff allow him to roam parts of his facility.

SCP-531 - Paired Brass Guard Cats

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp_531.png
A single 531 statue.
SCP-531 are several paired sets of brass statues depicting stylized cats. The statues' eyes are inset with what appear to be polished tiger-eye stones that give an impression of luminescence, though they do not directly emit visible light. When a pair of 531 statues are facing each other, they produce a powerful suggestive effect preventing anyone from passing between them. If the line of sight between the two statues is broken, observers will be drawn to meet the gaze of the orphaned statue themselves. Once the gaze is met by an observer, they are unable to break eye contact without significant effort of willpower beyond the capability of most people. The trapped individual will feel mental pressure forcing them to crouch down so that their eyes are level with the statue's. After several minutes in this pose, the subject's body begins to stiffen and become heavier as a transmutation effect takes hold, converting the subject into a duplicate 531 statue.
  • And I Must Scream: Victims remain conscious and aware throughout this process, and it's indicated that their souls are trapped in the statues.
  • Brown Note: Paired SCP-531 statues passively generate a psychological "barrier" that acts as a Supernatural Fear Inducer that discourages people from passing between them.
  • Mundane Utility: It has been proposed that SCP-531 instances could be used in the containment of other SCPs as a type of gate or barrier.
  • Objectshifting: Anyone who makes eye contact with a statue that hasn't been paired up will find themselves being slowly transformed into another iteration of 531 over the course of the next hour; experiments suggest that the statues are still fully conscious.
  • Portal Statue Pairs: When the cats are facing each other, they create a psychological barrier that people are averse to crossing.
  • Taken for Granite: Well, bronze. Anyone who breaks the line of sight between a pair of SCP-531 instances is compelled to look at one of them, and is slowly converted into another statue over the course of an hour.

SCP-532 - Frost Bug

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pseudomonasaeruginosa.jpg
Accumulated clusters of 532 in a petri dish.
SCP-532 is an anomalous type of pathogenic bacteria. Several small flagella line the cell membrane, allowing 532 to be carried by air currents into the atmosphere. Due to a lack of energy source, the bacteria will enter a state of hibernation for an indefinite amount of time while airborne. 532 will emerge from hibernation once it detects warm air currents, heat provided by these generally causing 532 to form into a "clump" similar in appearance to a snowflake. 532 is coated in a chemical that reacts with the lipids of an exothermic organism's cell membranes to create an endothermic reaction. This reaction simultaneously kills nearby tissue and provides a suitable temperature for the bacteria to make contact with human skin. When infecting a subject, 532 causes symptoms similar in appearance to frostbite, and carries a 98% mortality rate if left untreated. The rate escalates to 100% if the bacteria is "caught on the tongue".
  • Body Horror: It's a type of bacterium that causes symptoms similar to frostbite in anyone it infects. The page image even shows a person's hands where the fingers have blackened as a result of the infection.

SCP-533 - Snake Necklace

SCP-533 is a necklace with a dull gold finish that appears to be made of cheap metal. Most of the necklace's mass is composed of the body of a snake. The snake's body is in constant motion, "emitting" from one end of the necklace and "sinking" into the other at approximately 1.2 cm/s. The coloration, markings, and texture of the snake's skin change over time. Various species of snake have been observed, but 533 appears to have the body of a constrictor. Tests indicates that there are no adverse effects resulting from wearing the necklace, although all subjects expressed a strong desire to remove the necklace as soon as possible, reporting that it feels wrong to them.

SCP-534 - Misplaced Blood

SCP-534 appears to be a collection of several different human blood cells and fragments that have increased to several hundred times their original sizes. The components of 534 have been placed into three different classifications: SCP-534-1: erythrocytes, SCP-534-2: neutrophils, and SCP-534-3: thrombocytes.Upon coming into contact with living cells of another organism, 534-1 will actively diffuse oxygen into the organism. Allowing the erythrocytes to enter or touch areas of living tissue may cause oxygen poisoning, resulting in the death of the affected area. Subjects entering areas containing large amounts of 534-2 will report an itchiness in their skin as the neutrophils destroying their epidermis. Continual exposure to the neutrophils will result in subjects being "eaten alive". 534-3 will release normal proteins upon becoming disturbed, causing several instances of 534-1 to clot. Subjects who stay in an area with a large amount of these thrombocytes and affected instances of 534-1 will become covered in clots within 1 hour.

SCP-535 - Communicative Beaker

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/beaker.jpg
535 picking up radio signals.
SCP-535 is a 250mL borosilicate glass laboratory beaker. All liquid touching the inner surface of the beaker will immediately transform into a pale, translucent fluid designated as SCP-535-1. 535-1 appears to "absorb" information from its surroundings, as well as anything it comes into contact with. For instance, if 535-1 comes into contact with a computer, and is then poured onto a different computer, the information from the first computer will be copied onto the second. When a living human comes within range of 535-1, the fluid turns white. The effects of pouring the fluid onto another person in this state are highly unpredictable. In benign situations, the subject may acquire a minor fact or memory. Far more commonly, however, the subject will gain mental illness, including schizophrenia, dissociative identity disorder, severe anxiety, or generalized hallucinations.
  • Rainbow Motif: When certain types of information transmission or storage come within one meter of the liquid in the Beaker, the liquid changes color as follows: red (digital media), orange (radio waves), yellow (sound waves), green (photographic film), blue (text and physical visual imagery), purple (magnetic tape), white (human brain).

SCP-536 - Physical Law Testing Chamber

SCP-536 is a chamber with a 50 centimeter square viewing window, 6 tunable dials with corresponding meters, and an electromagnetically sealed entryway. Each of the chamber's dials alters the value of one of a fundamental physical constant within the chamber. The dials are able to control the speed of light, the gravitational constant, Planck's constant, the fundamental charge, and two other constants represented by the Greek letters lambda and theta.

SCP-537 - Singing Gramophone

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/537_2.jpg
537 broadcasting music.
SCP-537 is a slightly tattered gramophone with no visible deviations or abnormalities. The vinyl record (SCP-537-2) beneath its needle has only one circular groove that does not move inward, so the needle never reaches the center of the turntable. The needle is reported as being abnormally difficult to lift, but it can be lifted by hand with some effort. The needle will snap back down the moment it is released. 537 is shown to be intelligent, and demonstrates the ability to both see and hear through unknown means. It communicates with Foundation staff by playing songs, but it is also prone to throwing "tantrums", which consist of it blaring already-loud music at deafening volumes.
  • Berserk Button:
    • It's not fond of someone interrupting its tracks, throwing childish tantrums with its needle when such is done.
    • Ever since a disastrous cross-test with SCP-043, it has refused to play any songs by The Beatles. Repeated attempts to get it to do so result in angry reactions.
  • Hero-Worshipper: Its greatest desire is to perform "The Rainbow Connection" with Kermit the Frog.
  • Loony Fan: Its favorite soundtrack is from The Muppet Movie, adoring it to the point that a poster has been put up in its containment area, and it dreams of meeting Kermit.
  • Once for Yes, Twice for No: It can answer yes-no questions by raising and lowering its needle in this fashion.
  • The Speechless: It communicates primarily by playing songs. However, it will also raise and lower its needle, once for "yes" and twice for "no", and it uses this method to indicate numbers as well.
  • Tantrum Throwing: When it gets angry, it "throws tantrums" by playing angry music very loudly.

SCP-538 - Shadow Spiders

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/white_armcopy.jpg
An instance of 538 crawling on a human arm.
SCP-538 are animate shadows of an unknown species of spider. The shadows appear to "feed" off of the shadows of other organisms, and will move to the nearest shadow cast by a living thing. Individual 538 instances feed by attaching themselves to the shadow of its host, doing so in such a manner that its own shadow is not obscured. Only when connected to the shadow of a living organism can a 538 instance thrive. While generally benign, the shadows can and will attack their host if frightened. Frightening them generally involves a rapid movement by its host, at which point the shadows will "bite" the organism's shadow before attempting to flee. Upon death, the victim's shadow will break into pieces that will grow into a new instance of 538.
  • Bizarre Alien Reproduction: Shadow spiders reproduce by biting a victim. After about an hour, the victim suffers a horrible death and their shadow breaks up into pieces. Each shadow piece becomes a new shadow spider.
  • Weakened by the Light: While in brightly lit areas, shadow spiders shrink at a rate of 2 centimeters per second. When they're reduced to nothing, they're destroyed.

SCP-539 - The Perfect Distraction

SCP-539 is a thin, round disc composed of an undetermined material. When the object is thrown, an event will occur in its immediate vicinity that will inevitably draw attention away from its thrower. These distractions have no observable pattern of any sort, but it has been determined that the distraction will be more overwhelming in proportion to the difficulty of the user's attention. Due to the unpredictable nature of 539's effect, testers are currently advised to throw it as far from themselves as possible.

SCP-540 - Tannenbombs

SCP-540 is a collection of Soviet-era explosives of various makes. All of these explosives can be detonated in the same manner as non-anomalous explosives, and they detonate with a similar yield and blast effect. Approximately 35-37 seconds following the detonation, a mass of plant matter will rapidly grow to cover the majority of the damaged area. 50% of all attempts to disassemble low-yield instances of 540 have resulted in premature detonations and resultant plant growth. Instances that were successfully disassembled, then detonated after being reassembled, did not display any anomalous properties.

SCP-541 - Living Thoracic System

SCP-541 is an animate and intact set of human thoracic organs, including the lungs, heart, and digestive system. The organs were discovered in the crypt of a local Catholic Mission in Peru, sealed for at least several decades before discovery. 541's organs operate in a grotesque but accurate imitation of an ordinary human body. Blood is able to be pumped, the esophagus can perform peristalsis, the digestive system operates normally even though there is apparently no need for food, and it appears that the mass of organs as a whole does not decay like normal organs do. What happened to 541's original "owner", if there was one, is unknown at this time.

SCP-542 - Herr Chirurg

SCP-542 is a man known as Herr Chirurg, a German doctor from World War I who has been described as a "Frankenstein's Monster" regarding his physical appearance. Chirurg may occasionally hide his odd features under heavy clothing, but he prefers to wear only a pair of slacks, revealing that his body is formed from pieces of the bodies of various other people. This results in Chirurg possessing a hunched form, distended gut, warped ribcage, and bizarre arm structure. His skin is made from patches of various hues and shades, some of which have healed together with scars while others are still stitched together. A report of his non-symmetrical bone and muscle structure reveal that he has replaced the majority of his body over time. Chirurg behaves in a surprisingly pleasant manner most of the time, enjoying lengthy conversations about science, biology, and politics, as well as games of chess. However, when one of his organs begins to fail, or a part of his body becomes necrotic, he undergoes a drastic personality shift, stalking and observing people from a distance and aiming to steal parts of their bodies to replaced those that are damaged. Chirurg is able to passively sense the medical status of humans within several meters of him, and admits that he uses the process, which he doesn't entirely understand himself, to pick out his victims.

SCP-543 - Noise

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tvnoise.jpg
543 broadcasting on a TV.
SCP-543 is a collection of 4-hour VHS tapes from various manufacturers. All tapes viewed so far appear to display only "noise" or "snow" recorded from an empty analog television channel. Those who watch the tapes for long enough are able to discern images within the static. The images have been known to cause suicidal urges and uncontrolled fear. This was the case of the man who owned the apartment where 543 was found, who had rammed his head through a TV screen and died of electrocution.

SCP-544 - The New Voice

SCP-544 is a 30cm hand-held radio microphone, made of polished metal and black plastic. There is no evidence of wiring or electrical plugs of any kind on the object. When grasped by the "neck", the microphone will induce a subtle, but significant compulsion into the subject's mind, compelling them to keep it their possession at all times. After two days of bearing 544, it will begin to speak for its current subject through unknown means. The sound 544 makes is identical to the subject's voice, and the subject does not seem to notice that this voice-replacement is occurring until it is explained. As time passes, more and more of the subject's speech is replaced by 544, and the vocal tone of the microphone becomes much more electronic, with a comical and jovial tone. Within two weeks, the subject is completely voiced by 544.

SCP-545 - Liquid Life/Totenkinder

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/545_5.jpg
A collection of Totenkinder's ingredients for Liquid Life.
SCP-545 comes with two interconnected anomalies designated SCP-545-A and SCP-545-B. 545-A appears to be an elderly woman, presumably of Eastern European descent, who goes by the name "Totenkinder". Despite appearing to be in her 80s, Totenkinder is in exceptional health, and claims to be over 800 years old. Despite Totenkinder's penchant for acting like a kindly old woman, she displays no remorse for what she has done to achieve her extended lifespan. She does this by concocting 545-B is a colorless, odorless liquid formula she calls "Liquid Life", which she believes to grant immortality. The Foundation has proven her claims that drinking Liquid Life extends the lifespan of the user are true, and have also discovered that repeated ingestion may prolong life indefinitely, but this results in a strong dependency upon its properties and a rise in borderline sociopathic tendencies in regards to the creation of the formula, as it is manufactured by extracting and distilling the substance from the human body, then boiling it while adding a selection of herbs and a human child. SCP-545-C is a thin, weathered sheet of parchment containing the ingredients and cooking process of Liquid Life, written in Middle English. The Foundation has rendered the full contents of 545-C undisclosed in order to prevent unauthorized personnel from creating their own batches of Liquid Life.
  • Affably Evil: "Despite SCP-545-A's penchant for acting like a kindly older woman, she displays no remorse for her use of SCP-545-B/C."
  • Human Resources: SCP-545-B (the titular Liquid Life) required a living human, preferably a child, as one of the ingredients.
  • Immortality Immorality: SCP-545-A has been killing children for hundreds of years in order to make Liquid Life and keep herself alive.
  • Immortals Fear Death: SCP-545-A is terrified of death and extremely dependent on her supply of SCP-545-B, which is the only thing extending her lifespan.
  • Meaningful Name: "Totenkinder" literally means "dead children" in German.
  • Needlework Is for Old People: Sewing is one of SCP-545-A's hobbies.
  • Noodle Incident: SCP-545-A is not allowed to have poisonous plants in her garden after Incident 545-6b.
  • Panacea: Drinking SCP-545-B slows the user's aging, cures any disease, and can even heal life-threatening injuries.
  • Would Hurt a Child: SCP-545-A (the titular Totenkinder) has no problem with luring and killing children in order to produce SCP-545-B, and she's been doing it for 800 years.

SCP-546 - A Notebook

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/546_7.jpg
546, currently documenting a shopping list.
SCP-546 is a single pad of lined and spiralbound note paper. When a subject writes on 546 with any kind of writing instrument, they begin to experience a cognitive breakdown. Any inscribed word or phrase will interject itself into the subject’s speech and writing. The frequency of the phrase will continue to rise over the course of time. After 24 hours, the subject is unable to write and speak anything else other than the phrase they had written down in the pad. Removing these sheets does not affect the properties of the item.

SCP-547 - The Cartesian Business Card

SCP-547 is an off-white business card for a licensed hypnotherapist. The back of the card displays the phrase "Je pense donc…?" is written in black ball-point pen. The modified side of the card is a cognitohazard, and should therefore be treated with the relevant precautions. In all cases, reading and understanding the phrase has ultimately resulted in a total loss of personality and a greatly reduced awareness of self. Subjects have been able to perform mostly basic tasks, and nearly all of them are still capable of speech. Despite this, subjects are incapable of any subjective thought and emotion beyond those rational and immediate. 547's effects are degenerative, with full manifestation occurring approximately ten weeks after exposure.

SCP-548 - Ice Spider

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp_548.jpg
548 sitting on a rock.
SCP-548 is a female cobalt blue tarantula whose venom undergoes a highly endothermic reaction on contact with living tissue. A single bite from 548's fangs causes an average temperature drop of 38°C in the affected area. One bite is sufficient to cause localized frostbite in a human subject, and may turn lethal should the venom reach the central circulatory system. Victims smaller than the tarantula itself are frequently frozen solid.

SCP-549 - Ursa Minor

SCP-549 is a miniature grizzly bear, approximately 17cm in length when standing on its hind legs. Despite its size, 549 has the mass similar to that of an average adult grizzly bear. It is also able to consume as much food as a full-sized grizzly, and is able to exert the same amount of force with its claws and jaws. Several of the bear's enclosures were destroyed because of it's ability to exert far more force than expected of a creature of its size. The walls of its current enclosure have proven more able to resist any attempts to escape, and 549 is content to remain inside this enclosure, as long as it is fed regularly and not provoked.

    550- 599

SCP-550 - The Ghûl

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp_550.jpg
The earliest known photograph of 550's original location.
SCP-550 is a humanoid composed of European Ash wood shavings. 550 closely resembles a human man suffering from advanced muscular atrophy, though it lacks all exterior and bodily organs. The humanoid is mainly compliant to human subjects, though it is restricted to following simple commands. Conversation through alternative means has been unsuccessful in determining if 550 is sapient. The humanoid is able to smell despite its lack of sensory organs, and does this solely for the purpose of locating human corpses. Upon finding a cadaver, 550 will unravel itself to create a split in the area where a chest would be, and will kneel over the cadaver, making physical contact with the cavity.

SCP-551 - Impossible Puzzle

SCP-551 is a 550 piece jigsaw puzzle, which depicts, in its finished form, the image of a woman on a small rowboat, surrounded by waters. Due to the nature of 551's anomalous qualities, some details of the scene are left incomplete, such as the woman’s face. Subjects attempting to complete the puzzle develop extreme distress and obsession to complete it, to the point where they succumb to exhaustion and/or starvation.

SCP-552 - Ahead of His Time

SCP-552 is a middle-aged man whose sensory systems display an anomalous temporal distortion. Because of this, 552 cannot perceive his surroundings as they currently are, but only as they will be in the near future. He is otherwise physically unremarkable, and he can be interacted with normally, but his reactions to any interaction will have already occurred. He is also fully cognizant of his condition, and will sometimes attempt to time his reactions to interact normally with researchers.

SCP-553 - Crystalline Butterflies

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/butterfly1.jpg
A specimen of 553.
SCP-553 is a colony of 140,000 winged creatures resembling butterflies. The insects possess a silicon-based biochemistry and are primarily composed of calcium and silicate compounds. Individual instances of 553 primarily rely on a form of echolocation to sense their surroundings. When any adult instance suffers significant physical damage, it produces a unique sonar signature which alerts all other adults in its radius to the presence of danger, after which the butterflies will swarm the perceived threat and proceed to attack it by slicing it with their wings.
  • Razor Wings: The wings of adult SCP-553 are 5 millimeters thick and taper to sharp edges. They can attack dangerous opponents by slicing them with their wings, inflicting a wound up to 1 centimeter deep.
  • Silicon-Based Life: SCP-553 have a silicon-based biochemistry and are composed primarily of calcium and silicate compounds.

SCP-554 - The Perfect Murder

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp_machine.jpg
554 photographed from a safe distance
SCP-554 is a structure located in Culver Down, on the Isle of Wight. The structure's exterior is composed of partially oxidized iron plates and concrete, and its interior through radiography, appears to consist of a large number of complex mechanical components. A human corpse wrapped in a plastic refuse bag designated SCP-554-1, is visible between the concrete beams on which 554 is supported. When the corpse is viewed by a human subject, designated SCP-554-2, the previous individual to view 554-1 will disappear the next time they are out of sight of any observer, their corpse replacing 554-1.

SCP-555 - Corpse Magnet

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1280px_cowmagnet.jpg
555 in containment.
SCP-555 is a metal cylinder with rounded ends that emits a field of unknown nature. This field exerts an attractive force on all dead or necrotic human tissue in its immediate area, including hair, skin cells, corpses, and in extreme cases, the epidermal layer of the skin.

SCP-556 - Painted Aircraft

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp556.jpg
556 before it crashed.
SCP-556 is the wreckage of Varig PP-VLU, a Boeing 707-323C that crashed approximately 320 km east-northeast of Tokyo on January 30, 1979. The exterior of 556 has sustained extensive damage consistent with a high-speed impact with water, followed by exposure at crush depth. Despite this, the interior is mostly intact, and was in fact discovered dry at time of recovery, albeit 86% coated by a layer of paint. Chemical analysis has shown this paint to be a mixture of the paintings carried by PP-VLU on its last flight, with traces of human DNA.

SCP-557 - Ancient Containment Site

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp_557.jpg
The exterior of 557.
SCP-557 is an ancient tomb estimated to have been constructed around 2400 BC, built on a gravel plain in Northwestern Oman. Investigation of the surrounding area indicates that the tomb may be part of the lost city of Ubar. In the center of the floor in a room on the lower levels of the structure is a partially buried 3.2 m x 3.35m granite block, estimated to weigh 80,000 kg and covered with ancient, untranslated runes. A similar, thinner block stands in the room and shows evidence that a living being (designated SCP-557-1) was chained to it, using chains from the same material as the door. Translated records only refer to 557-1 as “the prisoner”, with the exception of one Egyptian record to read “the bastard son of Apep.”
  • Benevolent Precursors: The site was found to contain remains consistent with at least two other SCPs on Level 4, described as "a place for the abnormal", meaning that its Keepers were doing the Foundation's work at least two thousand years before.
  • Fling a Light into the Future: The last Keeper leaves a final note in Greek warning of the dangers within the site.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: Around 2,400 B.C. a tomb was built to be a prison for supernatural beings. Sometime later the "bastard son of Apep" (SCP-557-1) was captured with the help of the gods and secured in the tomb by being chained to a block of granite. Around 300 A.D. the last Keeper (guard) of the tomb died. In 1988 a geological survey team stumbled across the site and somehow released SCP-557-1 from confinement. (It is implied that SCP-557-1 and SCP-682 may be the exact same entity... but since 682 has a Multiple-Choice Past, this ends up just being one more possibility.)

SCP-558 - Strange Contact Lenses

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp_558_3.jpg
558 in a subject's eye.
SCP-558 is a collection of different colored contact lenses, divided into five categories by their apparent properties. Rather than appearing as standard clear, each lens has a colored central portion slightly wider than the human iris. These colors include are red, violet, green, gray, and black. These colors seem to correspond to distinct properties, though all lenses appear to correct the user's vision to 20/20, regardless of subjects' actual vision quality, but they also alter peoples' vision to horrifying degrees.
  • Fictional Color: When the red contact lenses are worn and used to view infrared light, the wearer sees it as a distinctly new color that they lack the language to describe properly.
  • Go Mad from the Revelation: The black contact lenses usually cause loss of consciousness, begging for the lenses to be removed, self-harm, and incoherent sobbing. One subject who wore them stated that he could see time as a web, and he could see the edges, and pray to god you never see them too.

SCP-559 - Birthday Time!

SCP-559 is a vanilla birthday cake with the words "Birthday Time!" written in green icing. When lit candles are placed into the cake, they cannot be extinguished by someone who is not celebrating their birthday through any means. When they are put out by a person whose birthday falls on a particular day, the subject will have their age changed to the equivalent of the number of candles on 559. The effect lasts for 24 hours before the subject reverts to their original age. The cake's effects are known to transfer to other baked goods, identifiable by the green icing spelling "Birthday Time!".

SCP-560 - Bitwise Amoeba

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp_560.png
An image with early signs of 560 corruption.
SCP-560 is a living malware program of indeterminate origin. When viewed through a binary or hex editor, 560 appears as a pattern of bytes which travels through the data structure of the storage medium it currently occupies. The program will then feed on and alter the contained files, making them appear disturbing and malevolent in the process.

SCP-561 - A Passive Rip in Time

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp561.jpg
A Smilodon within 561.
SCP-561 has so far proven to be directly undetectable, though evidence of animal remains in the area suggest that it has been in place for years. The anomaly produces no electromagnetic or gravitational anomalies. Due to this, 561's exact area of effect is unknown, so an estimated guess of its boundaries has been extrapolated from the appearance of its products. 561 changes the reproductive results of all living things within its radius, causing them to produce offspring from species extant of the Pliocene epoch, the time period just before the most recent ice age. This effect extends to plants and animals alike, including humans. Any animal conceived in the radius of 561 has a fair chance of producing Pliocene-era offspring at this time.

SCP-562 - Revel Rousers

SCP-562 is a phenomenon that sporadically occurs on internet chat sites. During a 562 manifestation, users will be contacted by an entity frequently identifying itself as “Sylvia Gateman”, “Tom Hedge”, or “Dick O’Dale." 562 will attempt to convince the subject to attend a party. Persons who agree to go to the party vanish in what is referred to as a 562-Claim event, wherein their bodies are transported to an unknown location the next time they go through a door. People observing a 562-Claim event report seeing bright, multicolored lights through the doorway, and hearing unidentifiable speech and music, as well as a lingering smell of nutmeg in the air.
  • The Fair Folk: It's rather strongly implied that this is a modern version of the Fair Folk bringing people to a party in Faerie, including the Year Inside, Hour Outside effect on its victims and the way they are lured into agreeing to go to it.
  • Year Inside, Hour Outside: After a person is lured through a door and enters the Revel, they appear several years later dead of old age. It's implied that time passes much faster in the area where the Revel is taking place.

SCP-563 - An Abandoned Farm in China

SCP-563 is an abandoned plot of farmland located in Hubei Province, China. The facilities of 563 have been modified for factory farming of animals weighing up to several tons. The land is equipped mainly to handle large poultry, but other animals are found to have been raised. SCP-563-A are carcasses of the presumed livestock of 563. When alive, 563-A were presumably farmed to create instances of SCP-563-B, the "Prehistoric Food" line of products made by a company known as the Ancient Dragon Culinary Corporation.

SCP-564 - Incomplete Primitive Cyborg

SCP-564 is a construction appearing to be assembled from various materials, resembling an adult woman of exactly 1.5 meters in height. Inside the limbs, chest, and head is a network of poorly insulated copper wire and rubber tubes, which carry a golden-brown fluid of unknown composition. The construct's eyes, resembling those of a normal person, are large pearls, and it also holds a small gap where a mouth would be. SCP-564-1, a large, transparent, and slightly luminescent blob surrounded by an iron ring with numerous holes in the edges, resides in a cavity accessed by a panel on the chest of 564. 564 is has shown itself to be sentient, but it appears to have severely limited control over its body, and is completely immobile unless otherwise noted. It also claims to have been human at one point.

SCP-565 - Ed's Head

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/565_8.jpg
565 underwater, circled for clairty.
SCP-565 is a male human head which appears to have ambulatory abilities, and is known to mimic the behavioral patterns of a species of coral crab. Its chief method of ambulation is the manipulation of a mass of tendrils of composed of brain matter, which emanate from a large wound at the back of its skull. These tendrils are often utilized as legs that allow for 565 to scuttle along the seafloor like a crab, but they are occasionally are operated for motion and manipulation, in a manner similar to the tentacles of an octopus or jellyfish.

SCP-566 - Word a Day

SCP-566 is a set of tear-off desk calendars sold under the name "Word-A-Day 2009 Edition: Wacky Wordables and Idiosyncratic Idioms". The only known anomalous property of these calendars occurs when an individual reading an entry taps a bolded word in the entry definition with their index finger. Upon doing this, the contents of the page change, displaying the definition of the chosen word, while the new entry retains this property. The means of returning the entry to its original state are currently unknown.

SCP-567 - The Dungeon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dungeon.jpg
The interior of 567.
SCP-567 is a dungeon located beneath Site-41. It consists of eight cells, designated SCP-567-1 through SCP-567-8. The cells remain inert with most people and objects, but when individuals meeting certain conditions come within 2.5m of a cell door, shackles will materialize and launch from the inside of the cell, restraining the subject and dragging them within. Once the cell door closes and locks, both the subject and the shackles will vanish, leaving behind no trace of any kind.

SCP-568 - Dismemberment Strap

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/568.jpg
SCP-568.
SCP-568 is a flexible white strap. The material that the strap is made of is currently unknown, but it does bear some similarities to leather. When the smooth side comes into contact with the seamed side, the two surfaces will adhere firmly to each other, as if glued. The surfaces can be peeled apart with moderate effort and no damage to the strap. When 568 is wrapped around an object with both ends overlapping at a minimum of 1cm, the object may be split along the seam. The surface of the cut will display an impermeable white surface rather than a cross-section of the object.

SCP-569 - Heads

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/floating_heads.jpg
569 floating around the hall.
SCP-569 are 46 animate, disembodied, floating human heads. All of the heads are identical, and resemble a bald man in his late 40s. 569 instances will usually congregate into a loose swarm and float aimlessly at a mean height of 10m. Individuals will randomly shift between several identical expressions, ranging from joy to distress. Should one of the heads be assaulted by a human, a sudden movement is perceived in its direct field of vision, or a sufficiently sudden loud noise occurs in the immediate vicinity. The affected heads will then enter an aggravated state and attempt to destroy the source of aggression or noise.

SCP-570 - The Occult Soda War

SCP-570 is a dense concentration of thaumaturgical residue obtained by the Foundation. 570 is theorized to have initially formed at some point in 1999, although its origins can be traced back to 1975. It is currently believed that 570 is the result of an unsustainable number of rituals conducted by The Coca-Cola Company and PepsiCo throughout the Cola Wars. Current models infer that 570 has coalesced in such a way that total extrication of the substance would result in the conceptual annihilation of the concept of soft drinks, but due to both companies' status as members of the Global Occult Coalition's Council of 108, this course of action has been deemed unfavorable.

SCP-571 - Self-Propagating Infectious Pattern

SCP-571 is a complex pattern of lines and scribbles with that carries a strong memetic effect. When any human looks at 571 for any amount of time, they will immediately search for a piece of paper. The exposed human will then begin to copy 571 onto the paper with any available drawing implement. Once the pattern has been copied (successfully or not), the affected person will seek out other subjects, and attempt to coax or force them to view the copied pattern. Successfully infected victims will immediately attempt to copy the pattern, thus continuing the process. Attempts to reason with infected subjects are met with failure. If an individual carrier does not successfully infect an uninfected carrier, exponential psychological deterioration will occur in the carrier. The type and rate of deterioration varies from carrier to carrier, but it always ends with near-total lack of cerebral activity.

SCP-572 - Katana of Apparent Invincibility

SCP-572 is a katana with the unusual psychotropic quality of convincing any person who holds it of its "balance" and "cutting power", as well as conferring feelings of invincibility upon them. This effect cannot be countered by any known means, and the affected subject will continue to maintain these beliefs so long as they hold the sword. Subjects will be compelled to perform dangerous stunts with the sword, including attempting to cut a moving car in half, slicing through a bullet fired from a rifle, cutting through another sword, and engaging in a live-steel duel with a trained swordsman. Because of the prevalence of the blade's unnecessary cutting edges, 75% of these attempts end with serious injury being inflicted upon the user.
  • Cursed Item: To a T, being an crappy weapon that imbues the user with a sense of great power to get them into terrible situations.
  • Dope Slap: Once the Katana is removed from the victim's grasp, "all psychological effects can usually be expunged by a single swift blow to the back of the subject's head".
  • Evil Weapon: At least in Don Ferreiro's Lie-Katana, where it is sentient and capable of speech, and happily eggs its wielder into getting themselves hurt or even killed while singing their praises. Unlike most weapons of this kind, it's dangerous only to its wielder.
  • Katanas Are Just Better: Subverted. The wielder thinks this, but it is actually rather dull and ineffectual as a weapon. It's not even a real katana, just a cheaply made novelty sword for display (the model they took the picture from costs forty dollars).
  • Implausible Fencing Powers: Subverted again. The wielder thinks they have these, but they're no better than they are normally and it leads to the person getting themselves seriously injured or worse trying to show them off.
  • Talking Weapon: Only in the tale dedicated to it, Don Ferreiro's Lie-Katana, where it can speak to a wielder or prospective wielder, singing their praises, hyping them up and trying to convince them to do dangerously stupid things. The setup of the story has the blade being reclassified from a Safe object to a Euclid, presumably as a result of this new property being discovered.
  • Too Dumb to Live/Suicidal Overconfidence: Basically the Katana's primary effect. See above.

SCP-573 - The Pied Pipe

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/flutebone.jpg
573 waiting to be played.
SCP-573 is a flute crudely fashioned from the femur bone of a female child between the ages of seven and twelve, dated to be 1,000 years old through DNA and carbon testing. Testing of 573 has revealed that, when played, it places all animals and prepubescent children into a highly receptive state. All creatures affected are eager and willing to do whatever the player of the flute requests, including tasks that are beyond them when in a non-trance state. Anyone attempting to use the flute will find themselves able to play as if they had been playing for years, and can play any song they desire.

SCP-574 - What's Your Home is My Home

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/number_one_department_store_pyongyang.jpg
The exterior of 574.
SCP-574 is a six-floor commercial building in Pohang, South Korea, with an interior filled with miscellaneous, randomly-placed furniture. When a human or animal remains within 574 for thirty minutes, they will be affixed to a flat surface by an untraceable magnetic force. The subject's body will flatten and take on the characteristics of a panelling material, such as wood, plastic, or concrete. If the building does not recieve an offering of at least 700kg of animal subjects within 24 hours, it will turn neighboring buildings into extensions of itself designated SCP-574-1 to gain its nutrients.

SCP-575 - Predatory Darkness

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pa002332.jpg
Bones recovered from a 575 nest.
SCP-575 appears to be an unknown form of matter that takes the form of a series of amorphous black shapes and structures. Despite the lack of any visible nervous system or observable organic components, 575 displays behavior consistent with an active consciousness. 575 initially manifests in complete darkness and grows with the absorption of biological material. It will "attack" living things by solidifying portions of itself and using appendages to bludgeon, cut, and crush subjects. Upon disabling a subject, 575 will forcibly tear and crush tissue within its primary mass until it is "absorbed". 575 is unable to interact with objects rich in calcium. As a result, nesting areas for it can be identified by large amounts of bones, teeth, and calcified dust.

SCP-576 - Sleep Well

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/576.jpg
SCP-576.
SCP-576 is a rounded glass bottle with a cork in its lid. The bottle is filled with a clear liquid, designated SCP-576-1. It has been observed that the bottle appears to be capable of slowly refilling itself. Consumption of 576-1 results in no immediate effects, but when an individual sleeps after consuming it, they will experience vivid dreams. These dreams are reported to be based on memories of great significant to the individual. When an individual enters a 576-1 affected sleep, they will pass through the natural stages of sleep and remain in a peaceful state of REM sleep for a period lasting from 8 to 20 hours. Attempts to awaken individuals in this state before they awaken on their own have proven unsuccessful.

SCP-577 - All Alone in the Moonlight

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/577bullets.jpg
Damage produced by 577.
SCP-577 is an animate, levitating mass of ammunition of various calibers. Approximately 40% of the ammunition is 9mm, though large quantities of 10mm and .45 ACP rounds have also been noted. Bullets within 577 are capable of leaving the mass and firing at speeds comparable to those from a standard handgun. The mass persistently spins in a spherical formation. Occasionally, it has been observed forming recognizable shapes and likenesses, commonly those of domestic animals. 577's total mass rises consistently, with one thousand new pieces of ammunition appearing in the mass each year.

SCP-578 - Blood Opals

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/crystal_72.jpg
An example of 578's effects.
SCP-578 is a colorless, odorless liquid consisting of a solution made from of water, silicon, and an unknown and uncharacterized enzyme. The liquid's anomalous properties manifest when it is brought into contact with human blood. First, 578 spreads throughout the blood by way of rapid diffusion. The enzyme within the solution then causes a clotting cascade in the blood, followed by crystallization via chemical reaction. This crystallized blood is designated an instance of SCP-578-1. 578-1's chemical structure consists of hydrated silica, similar to opals. During the crystallization process, clots of blood cells become trapped within the structure of 578-1, resulting in a bright red coloration.

SCP-579 - [DATA EXPUNGED]

SCP-579 is... something. The entirety of the object's description has been expunged from the Foundation's database, so there is no available information to reveal what it actually is. Despite this, 579 has been described as something so horrific, so vile, so catastrophically dangerous, that the Foundation itself has actively given up trying to contain it. It can be said that it's up to the individual reading its article to try and figure out whatever 579 might be for themselves.
  • Tailor-Made Prison: A unit made of [DATA EXPUNGED] where the thing is kept floating through electromagnets. It's also full of sensors to warn of any changes.
  • Things Man Was Not Meant to Know: Some hints in whatever text is left, such as the "termination of agents to prevent data leakage" or the mention of its existence apparently being a containment breach, indicate that it's some kind of infohazard. A tale shows the personnel in charge take so many amnestics they become simple-minded if not stupid.
  • Unseen Evil: SCP-579's description is completely expunged. All information that could be gathered are simply implications.
  • You Can't Go Home Again: Attempts to return 579 to Where It All Began only destroyed the point of origin.
  • You Do Not Want To Know: Whatever it is, it's so bad that any and all description of it has been expunged.

SCP-580 - Shi Huang Ti's Five Heaven Chariot

SCP-580 is a zeppelin composed of silk and wood, ostensibly constructed during the reign of Shi Huang Ti in China. It is crewed by approximately 40 terra-cotta warriors, similar to those found in Shi Huang Ti’s tomb and the Terra Cotta Army. Each instance is a mechanical golem that has shown skill with various ancient Chinese martial arts, both in weapons and unarmed combat. They do not communicate unless spoken to, and refuse to attack unless they are provoked first. The zeppelin can be found in the skies, roughly calculated to manifest in the area between the moon and the sun. It would appears that 580 was commissioned under orders of Shi Huang Ti to journey to the sun.

SCP-581 - The Equestrian's Soul

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/leather_nosebag.jpg
SCP-581.
SCP-581 is a horse's leather nosebag. Any equine creature within 500m will potentially become an instance of SCP-581-1, whose sole motivation appears to be inserting its muzzle within 581. Should 581-1 succeed in inserting its muzzle within the bag, it will become an example of SCP-581-2, an equine characterized by several anomalous behaviors. To date, all specimens of 581-2 have not been able to survive longer than two hours, as they have been euthanized due to multiple limb fractures.

SCP-582 - A Bundle of Stories

SCP-582 is an entity that happens to be the physical manifestation of an adaptive, self-propagating meme. 582’s primary anomalous ability is a form of passive reality modification. Any fictional account written about the entity will become a factual record of a manifestation of it, in which it will carry out all actions attributed to it in the chosen narrative.
  • Defictionalization: In-Universe. Any story written about him will come true. Presumably including the article for the SCP itself.
  • Derivative Differentiation: Earlier versions of the article made Bundle extremely similar to the Slender Man. Later versions distanced the description away from the resemblances. For example, the first version had its origins being an early-2000s internet phenomena, and the current version has its origins being the creation of an obscure American 1940-50s Lovecraftian author.
  • Eldritch Abomination: It's some sort of Lovecraftian monster with greatly varying descriptions of its appearance and behaviors, dependant on what's written about it.
  • Expy: If the addenda weren't there to clarify its origin and the various forms the entity takes, you'd be forgiven for thinking Bundle is just the Slender Man.
  • Humanoid Abomination: Its most common form, Manifestation Alpha, is a humanoid creature that is 2 meters tall and covered in a hooded robe without any visible face.
  • Invincible Boogeyman: No form of physical attack can harm it.
  • Tulpa: It's some sort of fictional character brought to life, with its appearance and behaviors changing to suit whatever written narratives describe it to be.

SCP-583 - Deathly Video Tape

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mini_dv.jpg
The tape sitting outside a VCR.
SCP-583 is a Sony Color Collection 60-90 min Mini DV video tape, its case composed primarily of transparent green plastic. The contents of the tape consist of 17 minutes of a recorded Sesame Street Live! performance. Partway through the recording, a performer will start choking and die of apparent asphyxiation, followed by several other characters. Subjects who watch 583's recording will suffer from a unique perceptual disorder, where they will witness every character (fictional or not) they see on TV or in a movie, hear about on a radio, or read about in a book in either printed or electronic format, will die of asphyxiation just as those on the tape. This condition appears to be permanent, ending only with the death of the infected subject.
  • Sinister Suffocation: The original tape shows a performance where actors dressed as Sesame Street performers gruesomely choke to death on-screen. Thereafter, any time the viewer watches any piece of media, the characters will all start asphyxiating and dying the same way.

SCP-584 - Many Fingers, Many Toes

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/manyfingers.jpg
A side effect of 584.
SCP-584 is a highly infectious viral pathogen which, if left untreated, will cause a disfiguring overgrowth of supernumerary limbs. Structurally similar to the herpes virus, 584 spreads via direct person-to-person contact, as well as through contact with infected bodily fluids. The pathogen can also cross the placental barrier from an infected mother to her fetus, resulting in characteristic birth defects. Surgical removal of these lesions is only effective in long-term infection if coupled with drug therapy, as scar sites are prone to developing recurrent lesions. 584 infection in unborn babies, especially if contracted during the first trimester, has resulted in high rates of polymelia, polydactyly, and parasitic twinning.

SCP-585 - Sharpeners

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sharpener.jpg
All instances of 585.
SCP-585 is a collection of small, two-hole pencil sharpeners made of brightly-colored plastic. Any pencil inserted into the small hole of a sharpener and turned clockwise will be sharpened, as is normal for a pencil sharpener. With each rotation, the "sharpness" of the pencil’s point will continue to increase without any apparent limit. The tip of affected pencils can be broken off, but the point will retain its sharpness and remain a dangerous hazard.

SCP-586 - Inscribable Object

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/greenpope.jpg
586, apparently able to perfect images.
SCP-586 is a small metallic pope, pale green in color. The primary anomalous profession of the object was discovered purely by accident. Any sentence written about the object will feature at least one typist created therein; primarily by one or more words being misspelled or being replaced by ant incorrect word.
  • Malaproper: Attempting to describe the SCP through text makes its whiter unwittingly use these in there sentences.
  • Never My Fault: Apparently, "my orifice is too close to 586" is a common excuse among the employees at the site it's starred in when someone turns in a report without proofreading it first. This doesn't really fly since it's been established that 586 only artifacts you when you're strictly referring to itself, but that doesn't stop some of them from trying anyway.
  • Painting the Medium: The SCP is a green pipe, and its affect causes its article to have many spelling eras. This section has also been effected by this.
  • Visual Pun: The SCP's rage image is that of a "Green Pope".

SCP-587 - A Model System

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/railroad.jpg
The diorama with the train running.
SCP-587 is a diorama of a fictional town known as Red Elk Colorado, featuring handcrafted scenery depicting forested hills interspersed with buildings and a railroad. Each model is fully functional, as plumbing and electrical power work and cars run on gasoline, among other feats. The town is populated by 1,270 individuals identical to human beings, other than their 19.5mm height. The residents of 587 remain oblivious to foreign objects unless they make contact with the diorama’s surface, at which point they are perceivable by inhabitants and often excite interest or confusion. Due to this property, a camera placed centimeters from the town center has gone unnoticed for years, while the momentary presence of an insect within view of inhabitants was seen as a major distraction.

SCP-588 - A Voracious Coin

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/coin094.jpg
588, thankfully not active.
SCP-588 is an American quarter minted in 1972. The depiction of George Washington on the obverse side of the coin displays activity consistent with being "alive." Despite being bound to the plane of the coin face, Washington's head has a full 180˚ range of horizontal movement, and a vertical range of approximately 90˚. In addition to movement of the head, Washington's "mouth" is capable of opening and closing, and he will attempt to feed ravenously upon any organic material brought within the coin's proximity. No other parts of the face on the obverse side have been witnessed displaying movement, including Washington's eyes.

SCP-589 - The Price of Obsession

SCP-589 is a stuffed animal that is able to change its appearance based on the desires of the first person to come in contact with it. The toy has the ability to create a calming and soothing sensation within anybody who sees it, or comes into physical contact with it. The effect quickly becomes addictive, infected individuals becoming completely dependent on 589 after extended exposure. What classifies 589 as Keter are its aftereffects. After a certain period of time, the toy will immediately vanish. Without 589 to keep them passive, infected individuals will immediately suffer a variety of severe withdrawal symptoms, including manic depression, psychosis, heightened aggression, uncontrollable despair, dementia, mania, paranoia, and various other behavioral disorders. It is not known how or why 589 does this, though there is speculation that it "feeds" off of the mental anguish it induces in those who are completely obsessed with it.
  • Emotion Eater: There is some speculation among Foundation personnel that this SCP feeds off of the intense anguish it causes its obsessed victims after it leaves them.
  • Hate Plague: Once it and any duplicates vanish from an area, the people exposed to it begin to go insane and start killing each other in massive riots.

SCP-590 - He Feels Your Pain

See Characters.SCP Foundation SC Ps 001 To 999.

SCP-591 - Dr. Wondertainment Pretendo

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pretendo.jpg
A Pretendo console.
SCP-591 refers to "Pretendo", a line of video game consoles developed by Dr. Wondertainment as counterfeits of the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). Whenever a cartridge is inserted into 591 and activated, it creates a minimized and isolated scenario where reality will restructure itself to resemble the setting of the cartrdge inserted into the console. Individuals inside these affected areas will usually take on the role of the game's main character. Because of the age and resultant degradation of 591's electronic components, these reality restructuring scenarios have an increased chance of becoming isolated ZK-class reality failures of varying areas of effect. While the restructuring events will revert when 591 is deactivated, the ZK-class scenarios remain permanently as a fixed location.
  • And I Must Scream: Those who get trapped in a ZK-class reality failure and don't die end up trapped in a glitchy version of the gameworld, usually with their bodies degraded to the point they cannot survive if removed from the area of the effect. They are forever trapped as a glitched-out version of the protagonist of a broken video game.
  • The Game Come to Life: The intended purpose of the object is to allow the player to harmlessly jump into the reality of the video game they are playing as the protagonist. Unlike the usual expectation of "If you die in the game, you die for real", there is no danger for losing or getting a Game Over, aside from being kicked out of the game. When the system starts malfunctioning however ...
  • Reality Warper: When the system is working properly, it will harmlessly warp reality around the player to put them into the game they are playing, with no ill-effects if they get a Game Over. When the system is not working properly, it can literally break reality in a localized area and trap the player into a glitchy version of the game with no escape.

SCP-592 - Inaccurate History Book

SCP-592 is a hardcover book which can cause delusions, psychosis, changes in physical health and appearance, or even severe wounding when read. It is titled "Chronicle of the 20th Century", and consists of 450 all-color printed pages which illustrate an alternate timeline. Exposure to the book may alter the memories and physical characteristics of the subject currently reading it to conform with the events of the passage being read. These alterations may vary from small changes in appearance and clothing to the infliction of severe wounds. It has been found that once the subject discovers that the world is inconsistent with their newly acquired memories, they begin to feel that reality is an illusion, a dream, or a deceit, often stating malevolent or government forces are at work in maintaining the illusion. Subjects who reach this stage enter a chronic psychosis, which all attempts to treat have failed.
  • Deadly Book: It's a history book that is capable of inflicting injuries on the reader if they read past a certain point (known as the point of divergence), and said injuries may be from wars that never actually happened. In addition, it can cause the reader to become suicidal and suffer other mental issues if they read a passage that is over 10 years past the PoD.

SCP-593 - Contagious Innumeracy

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/measles_mouth.png
Measle-like spots in the mouth of an infectee.
SCP-593 is a virus that exhibits a unique capacity for neurological damage after the onset of primary symptoms. The majority of 593's genome is identical to that of the measles virus, with a significant percentage of genetic material apparently derived from rinderpest. Its contagion rate is equal to that of measles, 90% of individuals without immunity who share a household with a 593-infected subject will develop the infection themselves within thirty days. 593, upon progression, will completely destroy the portion of its victims' brains that calculates the concepts of numbers and mathematics. Its surviving victims are left unable to distinguish between 'two' and 'millions', or perform even the most rudimentary addition, among other occurrences.
  • Kill It with Fire: SCP-593's containment procedures recommend incineration of all materials that anyone infected with it may have touched.
  • Weakened by the Light: SCP-593 is a genetically-engineered disease similar to measles. After it causes a rash covering the entire body, the victim's eyes become so sensitive that they can be totally blinded by exposure to light.

SCP-594 - Electric Sheep

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/3071230033_18d0a015a6.jpg
A male 549 specimen.
SCP-594 is a flock of feral sheep of an unknown breed. These sheep resemble the wild Argali in general build, with thick fleece like that of a domestic Merino. The defining characteristic of these sheep is that they are able to generate a substantial amount of static electricity within their wool, created simply by the friction caused during their daily activities. The resulting charge is typically discharged at random, with mature specimens producing arc flashes that have been recorded at 1000 amps or higher.

SCP-595 - Teleporting Destroyer

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eldridge.png
595 on a tour of duty in 1944.
SCP-595 is a Cannon class destroyer escort commissioned by the United States Navy in 1942. It is no different from any other vessel of its class, with the exception of several munitions magazines filled with devices of unknown manufacture. These devices will cause the vessel and the limited surrounding area to be permeated with abnormally high levels of electromagnetic radiation.

SCP-596 - Cursed Regeneration Statue

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp_596_snake_statue.jpg
The statue, waiting to be touched.
SCP-596 is a 63cm high bronze statue of a snake with a woman's head. When a person makes physical contact with 596, they are unable to release contact with the statue or move it themselves. Despite this, the statue will heal all ailments the subject possesses. The only way to completely remove a subject from the statue's clutch is for another person to make physical contact with with it, at which point the original subject will die.

SCP-597 - The Mother of Them All

SCP-597, known as "The Mother" to all infected subjects, is a massive blob of flesh with hundreds of teats all over its body. Whenever a mammal is released into its cell, it will be drawn to a corresponding teat for its species, proceeding to suckle as long as they are unimpeded. The milk released from 597 will be identical in every way to the makeup of the subject's mother's, although it is able to sustain the subject's nutritional needs indefinitely. The urge to suckle from 597 is an immensely strong mental, physical, and sexual compulsion. Those who give in to the urge are rapidly reduced to an infantile state, and will lose all linguistic abilities, intellectual capabilities, and willpower within one hour. Before complete loss of brain function, the experience is said to be highly comforting and pleasurable, infected staff citing that they feel untold amounts of safety in 597's radius.
  • Blob Monster: It is a massive ball of flesh 19 feet high and 35 feet wide, and every square inch of its surface is covered in nipples from every species of mammal. Any mammal in its presence is automatically compelled to find a nipple on it, start nursing endlessly, and never stop.
  • Fan Disservice: To disgusting extremes. For one, it compels people (regardless of gender) to want to have sex with it, drink from its teats, and eventually mentally turns them into sex-crazed baby-like toothless Man Children that see it as their "mother". It has a similar effect on animals, too (specifically only mammals, but that's horrific enough).
  • Fantastic Drug: The milk it produces. Simply being in 597's presence compels people to find a nipple on it and begin suckling. Drinking it is said to make you feel safe and comforted.
  • It Can Think: It may be sentient, being able to compel anyone to worship it religiously and nurse from it. It can also drive people to suicide via Mind Rape.
  • Madness Mantra: The Foundation tried using an all-female task force to contain it, resulting in five female guards writing "mommy, mommy, how i love my mommy" all over the walls of the cell and eventually falling under SCP-597's thrall.
  • Non-Mammalian Mammaries: It's not really anything, but it has mammary glands for every known species of animal.
  • Psychopathic Manchild: Drinking its milk or simply being in its presence for long enough will corrupt any human into one.

SCP-598 - Sentient Color

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scp_598.png
598 blanketing its cell.
SCP-598 is a shade of yellow covering the whole of its cell's interior. Attempts to reproduce the shade with all known drawing apparatuses have failed. 598 is shown to be intelligent and sentient, as it can process audiovisual stimuli in its nearby surroundings. While it cannot speak, move autonomously, or communicate using normal senses. 598 is also telepathic, and is capable of holding extended mental conversations. These conversations reveal that it enjoy discussing the topics of music, art, and science. Whenever a short-wave radio is within 4 meters of 598, it will begin to pick up a previously out-of-range station which will broadcast different noises. Some of these include wolf-like howling, low humming of unknown origin, and high-pitched chirping noises, revealed to be soundwaves used for echolocation by bats brought into human hearing frequencies.

SCP-599 - Uncharted City

SCP-599 is a small city with a population of approximately 700. This city does not appear on any map of its local region, nor do any roads leading to it. 599 was classified as an SCP when it became known to the Foundation that every one of its inhabitant matched the description and name of a person reported missing from a nearby city in the last ten years. When questioned, all subjects insisted that they had always lived in 599, before invariably adding that they were "always looking for new neighbors." All Foundation personnel who enter the city are strongly encouraged by the inhabitants to purchase a house inside it. Refusal to comply is ultimately met with hostility, though no incidents of violence have been reported.
