Go To

Death Battle:

Due to the nature of the show, all spoilers are unmarked on this page! As the page concerns itself with the recurring fighter, You Have Been Warned.

For the longest matchup, Batman has been used in many battles against heroes of similar equivalent. This is such a debated topic that DEATH BATTLE! not only pits Batman against one opponent but more times than not with significant updates in feats. It eventually evolved from a Surprisingly Realistic Outcome to making Batman something of The Worf Effect and Jobber.

Batman has so far lost three times and won one time and both Wiz and Boomstick conclude that Batman's losses are more to do with his skill set, lack of preparation, or his opponent just being better at what he does and more before the fight in setting and story: Batman's story casts him as a Badass Normal who pushes past his limits to be the best of the human condition, a Gadgeteer Genius with an endless supply of wealth, and a master strategist with a plan that always let him win, even against superhuman opponents. But sometimes, it's not often a guarantee that'll give him an edge or victory in a one-on-one fight.

    In General
  • Animal-Themed Superbeing:
    • Bruce Wayne's superhero persona is called Batman. His Batsuit has a very bat-like design, and he's also seen with bats in his battle against Spider-Man and Black Panther respectively.
    • Likewise, Peter Parker's superhero persona is called Spider-Man.
    • The black panther for T'Challa, of course. He has a suit that has the appearance of a panther, is the totemic avatar of the Panther Goddess, and has abilities of a panther such as enhanced strength, agility, and senses. When he gets the drop on Batman near the end of the battle, he's even briefly shown as the image of a lunging panther.
  • Badass Normal: Bruce and Tony have no superpowers, just two men who are solely relying on their advanced technology and wits to contend with godly beings.
  • The Cowl:
    • Wiz describes both Batman and Spider-Man as the "guardians of the night" and "the superhuman saviors of the lone and helpless". Batman watches over Gotham City from the shadows, his silhouette is enough to strike fear in the hearts of petty criminals, and after Spider-Man gets onto the building where they'll fight, Batman jumps out of the shadows.
    • Black Panther sometimes operates in the night.
  • Crimefighting with Cash: Except for Spider-Man, they possessed immense wealth that is quite useful in funding their respective crusades against villains.
  • Dark Is Not Evil:
    • Black Panther wears an all-black high-tech suit of Vibranium-laced armor but is the more-or-less benevolent king of an African nation.
    • Bruce Wayne may spend his nights dressed in a suit of bat-themed high-tech combat armor, but he's one of the DC universe's staunchest superheroes.
Batman: I'll give them something to fear.
  • Genius Bruiser:
    • T'Challa is one of the top eight smartest people in the Marvel universe, possessing multiple degrees from some of the world's most renowned universities. He is also an even better fighter than Captain America. He can equal Bruce in both combat and mental ability, though it turns out equipment is what carries the day... equipment T'Challa has a serious edge.
    • Bruce has mastered multiple martial arts and possesses a genius-level intellect and keen analytical mind to match. He proves to be T'Challa's equal in skill and mental capacity, but equipment load-out proves a fatal discrepancy.
  • Hopeless Boss Fight: Ultimately, Bruce's respective fights against Peter, T'Challa, and Tony is not a matter of "if Batman could win?" but "how long can Batman last?".
  • Powered Armor: Bruce, T'Challa, and Tony wear highly protective, high-tech armor with plenty of integrated gadgets and machinery to aid them in their fights against supervillains. Bruce and Tony's most powerful armor has allowed them to fight toe-to-toe with gods and come out on top.
  • Properly Paranoid: Both Bruce and Tony are very cautious with anything or anyone that could be a threat, resulting in them planning and developing plenty of contingencies and countermeasures just in case anything happens.
  • Rich Genius: Both Bruce and Tony have a lot of wealth to throw at and the smarts to run successful enterprises, create and afford nifty gadgets and gizmos, and operate as A-List superheroes and figureheads. While T'Challa surpasses them due to being the king of Wakanda; a secretly advanced country that's littered with vibranium.
  • Something Person: Both Bruce Wayne and Peter Parker's superhero aliases are spelled with their Animal Motifs as the adjective. In Tony Stark's case though it's "Iron" instead.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Both Bruce and Tony are granted access to the most powerful set of armor they can get their hands on for their battle, which puts them in the same league as universal-level entities like Darkseid and the Celestials.

    Batman

Batman (Bruce Wayne)

Thief: "Where are you?!"
Batman: "Here."

Bruce Wayne, the Batman

Batman: "From this moment on... none of you are safe..."

The Dark Knight

Carmine Falcone: "What the hell are you?"
Batman: "I'm Batman!"

The Genius Crime-Fighter from DC Comics

Darkseid: "My Parademons arrive soon."
Batman: "Think I haven't planned for this?"

DC's Vengeful Crusader of the Night

Voiced by: N/A (1st, 2nd, and 3rd match), Gianni Matragrano (4th match)

  • The Ace: In addition to his martial arts training, he has mastered escape artistry, swordfighting, detective skills, stealth, has a Photographic Memory, earned 12 Master's degrees, is an expert marksman, and has vast knowledge on how to exploit pressure points.
  • Ambiguously Human: In-universe. During the pre-battle analysis in Batman vs Captain America, Boomstick repeatedly doubts he's merely a ludicrously strong and skilled man, and Wiz's best justification for his feats is that he might as well have been exposed to gamma rays a la the Hulk.
  • All Webbed Up: Near the end of his fight with Spider-Man, he gets restricted by the webbing after getting hit with several web balls, all at rapid succession. This renders him helpless, and Spider-Man finishes him off by ripping his torso clean off.
  • Attack Its Weak Point: In Black Panther VS Batman, the hosts explain that Batman has often beaten tougher foes by abusing this trope, like preventing Bane from getting a supply of Venom. However, Black Panther had nothing he could exploit in the same manner given his default loadout.
  • Back for the Dead:
    • The first defeated combatant to make a return, in this case after losing to Spider-Man in Season 1. Also, the first previously defeated opponent to return with a win by defeating Captain America in Season 2.
    • Then he returns for a fourth time after being defeated by Black Panther in Season 5... only to die at the end once again at the hands of Iron Man in Season 8.
  • Badass Bookworm: Bruce has achieved 12 Master's Degrees, studied 127 martial arts, and perfected escape artistry. Boomstick says that "whoever says being a nerd is a bad thing has never met Batman".
  • Badass Normal: In general, Bruce doesn't have any superpowers and he's the only founding member of the Justice League whose The Team Normal. While he trained to achieve Charles Atlas Superpowers, making him massively stronger, faster, tougher, and smarter than the average human especially by Real Life standards, underneath the Batsuit he can be either crippled or taken down with a bullet like any other mortal man by the end of the day.
    • Batman was the closest thing to a normal human in Season 1. This is a bad thing when he's fighting an enemy that's stronger and faster than him and has an ability that neutralizes his main strengths, along with not being able to prepare beforehand per Death Battle rules.
    • Experience fighting superpowered villains allowed him to keep pace with Black Panther for a while.
  • Bat Scare: Batman weaponized this trope, using sonar technology to attract bats. However, Spider-Man's encounters with Mysterio and Green Goblin, who also employed bat-themed tactics, suggest he's accustomed to such strategies, rendering Batman's attempt ineffective.
  • Batman Gambit: He's able to get people to do what he wants by making them think it was their own decision. During the fight against Black Panther, he goads the latter into walking over a bomb that would destroy the bridge he's on and fall to his death. However, T'Challa quickly recovered, fatally punishing Bats' mistake.
Batman: (*after trapping Black Panther*) Amateur.
  • Battle Boomerang: With his super-sharp Batarangs.
  • Bulletproof Vest: His Batsuit can resist knives and gunfire.
  • Cape Wings: Can glide with his cape, and uses them to full effect during the Free-Fall Fight scene.
  • Cast from Hit Points: The main flaw of Batman’s Hellbat armor in Season 8 was that it fed on his own metabolism and several of its features put a strain on his body. This was a deciding factor in the fight, as while the Hellbat could match and surpass most of Tony’s armors, the strain it placed on his body meant he couldn’t keep up in a prolonged fight — and Tony's army of suits certainly could keep him busy for a while.
  • Charles Atlas Superpower:
    • His strength, speed, and endurance are above Olympic level after many years of physical and martial training, allowing him to go toe-to-toe with the superhumanly strong Spider-Man and outpace the latter's Spider-Sense.
    • Discussed and played with In-Universe in Batman VS Captain America. With enough training, Batman was able to master every martial art known to man. But Boomstick repeatedly questions whether or not Batman really isn't superhuman. Wiz points out that in the Bat's line of work, he could easily have stumbled upon mutating gamma rays or something of that nature.
    • As discussed in his previous appearances, Batman is a master martial artist and is in peak physical and mental condition — the trauma of losing his parents at a young age notwithstanding. Unfortunately for him, this simply isn't enough to overcome the Panther Habit in Black Panther VS Batman.
  • Combat Pragmatist:
    • Justified and deconstructed. In comparison to Spider-Man, he is this. Stealth, explosives, and using any trick he has up his sleeve all while preventing his opponent from having any sort of breathing room are all fair game to Batman in their one-to-one fight (except with guns of course). But considering how many of his victories over super-beings are the result of being Crazy-Prepared, along with Death Battle rules preventing such a thing, and Spider-Man is a completely unknown opponent, you can hardly blame him. In the end, though, none of Batman's abilities, tools, greater combat experience, and tactics mean jack-squat against an opponent whose powers are practically tailor-made negate his main strengths.
    • In his battle against Captain America, he attacks from all blind spots, exploits pressure points, Steals Cap's shield, and uses it against him.
    • Similar to Spider-Man, this is deconstructed in his battle against Black Panther. None of his tricks work on the King of Wakanda due to having no tool, gadget, or weapon that can exploit Panther Habitat's ability to absorb energy and redirect it, nor damage it with his usual toolset.
  • Composite Character:
    • He's a combination of the Mainstream (Pre-Crisis) Batman from the comics, the Batmen from the 1966 TV series and the 1989 film series and the Nolan films, and the Batmen from the various animated series, films, and video games, all of whom are separate characters in the DC Multiverse.
    • In his second match, more or less the same information was granted from his fight with Spider-Man, as well as additional information from Screwattack adding more research to their analysis, such as the Shock Gloves from Batman: Arkham Origins.
    • As various Bat-related media had come out since Batman's last appearance in Season 2, including Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the New 52 Movie Universe starting with Justice League: War, they were incorporated into Batman's character.
  • Crazy-Prepared: He's gained a reputation both in-universe and out for having a trick up his sleeve to get out of nearly any problem.
    • The hosts note that with prep time, Bruce can be prepared for pretty much anything in a fight. Wiz notes that his major victories in canon are due to months of planning and preparation that come before he throws the first punch. Unfortunately, this is averted in Death Battle due to the rules.
    • Bats basically boast about it in front of Black Panther's face. Unfortunately, Vibranium armor proved to be something he wasn't ready for.
    Black Panther: Prepare yourself.
    Batman: I'm prepared for anything.
    • Batman is prepared for nearly any situation and has numerous contingency plans meant to take down some of his world’s heaviest hitters. Unfortunately Tony was even more prepared than him.
  • Crippling Overspecialization: This is pointed out by the hosts in Batman VS Iron Man. A major factor in his loss is while he had numerous contingency plans, most of the said plans were tailored towards specific beings, as opposed to Iron Man’s suits, with even the most specialized of his armors having the same basic arsenal. For example, the Justice Buster was meant to be his main tool in defeating the other founding members of the Justice League, and while it was well-equipped to abuse their weaknesses, its armaments could easily be countered by the vast majority of Iron Man armors.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: When Batman loses in his respective fights against Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Iron Man, his deaths are particularly gory.
    • After getting All Webbed Up in his fight with Peter, Bruce gets his torso ripped off and ends up as a limbless corpse on the street.
    • In his fight with Black Panther, after being slashed open, Bruce is decapitated while a whale eats up his headless corpse.
    • When getting blown up in his fight against Tony, Bruce is reduced to a skeleton.
  • Curb Stomp Cushion: In thrice his fights against Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Iron Man, Batman's loss is inevitable due to Spider-Man being a walking deterrent to his usual main strengths, Black Panther being his equal in martial arts and combat experience, on top of having superpowers, better equipment, greater resources, and no exploitable weaknesses, and Iron Man being much better at planning and more flexible with his Powered Armor. Yet, he still gives Peter, T'Challa, and Tony one hell of a fight before ultimately getting killed by either of them in their respective battles.
  • Death or Glory Attack: The Hellbat's Devastator, a punch powered by the strength of fellow Justice League member, Wonder Woman, that Bruce can use to the same extent, though it has a very high risk of giving him a heart attack if used. Bats use it against the Godbuster to knock it away and avoids having a heart attack.
  • Deceased Parents Are the Best: After his parents were murdered, he vowed to protect the citizens of Gotham City.
  • Demolitions Expert: Carries a few explosions on his utility belt. He uses one to his advantage when Spider-Man is tied up, and another after knocking him onto a car after their Free-Fall Fight.
  • Destination Defenestration: In their one-on-one fight, Batman knocks Spider-Man through a window into a tall tower, and the latter persistently tries to knock him out of another window. He eventually succeeds after a lot of hassle.
  • Determinator: It takes an incredibly strong willpower that to overcome his adversaries and survive events that would normally cripple or kill any other person.
  • Doesn't Like Guns: Due to a gun being what killed his family, Bruce has a pathological hatred of them. This is what really bites him in the ass — Boomstick and Wiz searched high and low for a weapon Batman could have used to overwhelm Black Panther's Vibranium armor and found that he didn't have any. As well, any usage of guns was right out because of this hatred.
  • Escape Artist: He's an expert in escape artistry, and given enough time can escape the toughest traps.
  • Fed to the Beast: During the encounter in the orca enclosure, he attempts to do this to Black Panther by blowing up the walkway to make him fall in, but T'challa avoids this by jumping off the falling debris to get to the high ground. Later on, this fate befalls his decapitated body after T'Challa kicks it in, where an orca indeed eats him.
  • Fiction 500: Bruce Wayne is the head of Wayne Enterprises.
  • Fragile Speedster:
    • In Season One, he's only fragile in comparison to Spider-Man. Despite being Made of Iron and wearing a protective suit, Batman can still be killed by one good, clean hit from his superhumanly strong opponent, forcing him to utilize evasive tactics along with his above-Olympic-level agility and speed to give himself the edge in their one-on-one fight.
    • Similar to his fight with Spider-Man in Season One, he's only fragile in comparison to Black Panther in their Season Five battle. T'Challa is ultimately like Batman except with superpowers, better resources, and a battle suit that is both more durable, and capable of Attack Reflector and has Absurdly Sharp Claws. In the end, Batman could only delay the inevitable before Black Panther can get one good clean swipe at him with his Antarctic Vibranium claws.
    • In Season Eight, he's once again fragile compared to Iron Man, as obviously when comparing their standard arsenals, a suit made of Kevlar able to stop bullets and knives is still way weaker than a suit that can survive getting hit by the force of the sun from a Man of Kryptonite.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Bruce had his Batsuit, Batmobiles, and other gadgets custom-made and built (with some help from others) thanks to his wealth and genius-level mind.
  • Genius Bruiser: Batman has a Genius-level intellect and is listed to be a great strategist.
  • Glass Cannon: Batman is a good fighter, and his gadgets—despite being non-lethal—are enough for him to pummel Spider-Man like a rag-doll through the fight, despite Spider-Man's amazing strength and speed. One good hit from Spidey himself, however, is more than enough to kill Batman.
  • Glowing Eyes of Doom: The first thing we see of him as he enters the battlefield.
  • Grappling-Hook Pistol: A classic device used by all incarnations of Batman known as "The Batclaw". It's used against Spider-Man and later used to snap Captain America's neck.
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: His torso is ripped off from the sheer force of Spider-Man's kick.
  • Idle Rich: Bruce Wayne in the public eye is just the face of Wayne Industries. This is used to contrast with T'Challa's very-busy-king image.
  • Innate Night Vision: His cowl contains gear that has night, infrared, and ultraviolet vision, as well as a triangulation imaging system that can create a 3D map of the world just by hacking into every cell phone on Earth.
  • Jobber: Batman functions as something of this trope in DEATH BATTLE! Besides trumping Captain America, Batman's other fights against Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Iron Man can be seen as simply "good showing" due to his own limitations.
  • Leitmotif:
  • Lightning Bruiser: He's strong and fast enough to take down rooms full of mooks ranging from thugs to ninjas to mercenaries, and his body armor enables him to tank hits from the likes of Bane. However, while he's defeated opponents as strong, fast, and tough as T'Challa, he's simply not equipped to bypass the nearly indestructible Panther Habit, and his armor is no match for the Habit's Antarctic Vibranium claws.
  • Lights Off, Somebody Dies: Attempted. Batman destroys the lights in a building to ambush Spidey, but Spidey's spider-sense counters the stealth.
  • Logical Weakness: Best seen in his loss against Spider-Man.
    • As Wiz points out, many of Batman's achievements (including his victory over his superhuman teammates) are rooted in his Crazy-Prepared tendencies. This means that without prep time against an unknown foe, it could lead to his downfall.
    • His Stealth Expert methods will prove invalid against a foe with Super-Senses and/or Spider-Sense.
    • His usual gadgets are all specifically designed to deal with opponents non-lethallynote , which it'll be less effective against the superhumanly strong and tough Spider-Man.
  • Made of Iron:
    • Despite being a normal, but well-trained, human, Batman has overcome having his back broken, fighting the other Justice League members, and being disintegrated. However, none of this matters against the superhumanly strong Spider-Man once the latter lands a very good and clean hit.
    • To superhuman levels, he has withstood the vacuum of space for 24 seconds and is buried 6 feet under in a coffin stuffed in a straight jacket deprived of sleep for days with Joker's latest venom toxin and a cocktail of hindering drugs in his system. Boomstick wonders aloud if he's even human at all because of this feat.
  • Man of the City: To Gotham City
  • Martial Pacifist: Despite showing no mercy to Spider-Man during the fight none of Batman's weapons are designed to kill. Even Batman's car bomb was not powerful enough to kill someone as superhuman as Spider-Man: who can survive lethal explosions and powerful enemies like Rhino, Hulk, or the Juggernaut.
  • Megaton Punch: The Hellbat can use one powered by Wonder Woman's strength, which has a 95% chance of giving him a heart attack. He uses such a punch to send the Godbuster flying.
  • Neck Snap: With his grappling hook, he wraps around Cap's neck, tethers it around a streetlamp, and... this trope.
  • Nerves of Steel: Never almost let his emotions get the better of him even in the worst situation imaginable. In their one-on-one fight, Batman is as stoic as ever compared to Spider-Man.
  • Ninja: Bruce Wayne trained in ninjutsu, and Batman uses that training to great effect in taking out criminals.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Spider-Man began the fight as his usual cocky self, which left him wide open to Batman's trick gadgets. Despite giving him a thrashing on the roof, Spidey quickly recovers and adapts to Batman's tactics.
  • No-Nonsense Nemesis: In contrast to his opponent in Season One, Batman forgoes Trash Talk, battle taunts, or any sort of banter and hyper-focuses entirely on their fight to kill his opponent with everything he's got. Unfortunately, Batman's greater fighting experience and martial training, pragmatism, stealth tactics, and non-lethal gadgets prove inadequate to trump Spider-Man's superhuman physiology, Spider-Sense, and his own Fantastic Fighting Style, the Way of the Spider. Ironically, early iterations of the Dark Knight show him just as much of a wisecrack in his fights until he's later written as The Stoic.
  • Non-Fatal Explosions: His explosive gel doesn't fatally harm foes, it can only stun them. This is enough to catch Captain America off guard and let Batman go in for the kill.
  • Off with His Head!: On the receiving end by Black Panther.
  • Orphan's Ordeal: His parents were shot by a common thug. He became a vigilante in their honor and fought against Gotham's criminal underbelly.
  • Papa Wolf: Used the Hellbat Armor to engage in a one-man war against Apokolips and Darkseid: all to resurrect his deceased son Damian.
  • Powered Armor: Batman uses the Hellbat armor in Batman VS Iron Man. The analysis also brings up some of his other armors, like the Final Batsuit, though only the Hellbat is used. To its credit, the hosts note that power-wise the Hellbat outclasses almost all of Tony's various armors and could likely defeat even the strongest ones like the Godbuster if given enough time, but the strain it puts on Bruce coupled with the sheer amount of armors Tony could throw at it meant Batman would likely tap out in a prolonged fight or give Tony time to figure out a way to disable it via hacking.
  • Precision-Guided Boomerang: Got some in normal and explosive batarangs. Spider-Man was able to dodge most of them due to his spider-sense.
  • Pressure Point: More knowledgeable in this than Cap. This helps him in the end, rendering Cap helpless.
  • Shock and Awe:
    • His suit's taser functions but at only 200,000 volts (the minimum required voltage for standard tasers) it's not enough to kill. Spider-Man isn't bothered by it.
    • His Shock Gloves, which are significantly deadlier than his suits' taser function, are capable of puncturing Kevlar and stopping Bane's heart. They don't do much in the fight due to Cap's shield having no conductivity and Cap's own resistance to shock, nullifying the gloves.
  • Smoke Out:
    • Carries smoke pellets in his utility belt. He manages to get the upper hand on Peter by using one.
    • Carries around several smoke pellets to supplement his stealth skills. He uses this to set up an ambush against Cap, as while he could "see faster" than Batman, this won't let him see through thick smoke.
  • Stealth Expert: Bruce trained in ninjutsu and specializes in using the shadows in conjunction with his dark costume to catch enemies off guard. He could disappear and reappear in an instant thanks to his mastery of stealth and the various gadgets he carries around his utility belt. This helps net him the win in the end. Since Batman is capable of hiding from the likes of Superman, there's no reason why he couldn't do the same against Cap.
  • Stealth Hi/Bye: He's a master of disappearing as soon as you take your eyes off him. Even Superman doesn't know how he does it.
  • The Stoic: Boy as he ever; not making a single peep throughout his fight against Spider-Man. This carries over to his battle against Cap.
  • Stone Wall: Slightly demonstrated with Batman's Batsuit. Captain America's strength is significantly lower than Spiderman's, so Batman is able to endure this fight long enough to discover Cap's weaknesses and adapt to the battle. Also, the Captain wore relatively lighter armor, meaning without his shield Batman had a slight advantage in endurance.
  • Straight Man and Wise Guy: The straight man to Tony's wise guy. He takes this bout with a grim tone and constantly warns Tony not to push him.
  • The Strategist: Batman is clearly more intelligent than Captain America in both tactics and knowledge, even if Cap is an effective commander. Batman was able to conclude that Cap's shield was too much of a threat, so Batman gained an advantage in the match by disarming and stealing the shield. He also confused and ambushed America by using his gadgets and stealth.
  • Stripped to the Bone: After Tony makes the Nano Armor self-destruct with Bruce inside, all that's left of the Dark Knight is his smoking skeleton.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: Explosive Gel.
  • Super-Intelligence: Batman is a super genius with a photographic memory and the world's greatest detective, bar none. Sadly, it doesn't help him in his fights with Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Iron Man, who also possess Super Intelligence on par with him.
  • Super-Reflexes: Shown dodging a bullet and can dodge Darkseid's Omega Beams. This enables him to react and dodge nearly every one of Captain Amercia's attacks, giving Batman enough breathing time to think up a plan.
  • Super-Senses: Batman uses gadgets in his cowl to give him sonar vision, radios, superhearing, and other traits that increase his effectiveness in stealth, detection, and ambush. It's a clear advantage over Cap, whose senses are not as extreme.
  • Superman Stays Out of Gotham: Invoked. One of the first things Bats does is try and hail Superman through communications, but Iron Man stops it via hacking, leaving the battle a one-on-one affair.
  • Terror Hero: He uses scare tactics, causing the thugs of Gotham City to start shaking in fear the moment they see his silhouette.
  • There Are No Therapists: He may be a superhero, but the death of his parents mentally scarred him. Boomstick points out that someone who fights villains dressed as a bat alongside kid sidekicks isn't the most mentally stable.
  • Thou Shalt Not Kill: Batman's steadfast adherence to his moral code, epitomized by his unwavering commitment to never taking a life, is a defining characteristic. This principle, a core tenet of his identity, remains resolute even when faced with formidable adversaries like the Joker. However, this refusal to compromise his beliefs, coupled with his aversion to firearms, presents a vulnerability, exemplified in his inability to overcome challenges such as Black Panther's Vibranium-laced armor. Despite the temptation to deviate from his moral code for strategic advantage, Batman's commitment to the principle of non-lethality remains unwavering, underscoring his integrity and defining his character.
  • Undignified Death: While Batman certainly gave it his all against Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Iron Man respectively, how he dies is certainly not pretty.
  • Unexplained Recovery: The episode, Batman VS Captain America, makes no references to the results of Batman's previous match. He just appears from the shadows to battle Cap, as good as new. Since these battles are just a dramatization based on the research, one can say that the characters aren't actually fighting, and therefore no one's actually dying. Also, according to Max of Few Trades who is one of the members of the research team, this episode was planned out before Batman Vs Spider-man and was kept in reserve just for such an occasion as the hard drive failure that pushed back Godzilla Vs Gamera.
  • Utility Belt: One of his most iconic tools and practically every iteration of the Caped Crusader carries one. It's where he keeps his gadgets and seems to have everything he would need in a fight.
  • [Verb] This!: When Iron Man boasts that he's got a suit for busting anything, Bats' response is succinct:
    Batman: Bust this.
  • Vigilante Man: After the tragic circumstance of losing his parents to a common criminal, Bruce became Batman to make sure no one else suffers the same way he did, even if he has to break the law to do so. This is one of the many traits he shares with Spider-Man.
  • The Voiceless: He says nothing during his battle in contrast to his opponent Spider-Man, not even a pained grunt from getting hit by him. This is also carried over in his battle against Captain America.
  • Weak, but Skilled:
    • Although a very strong human (bench-pressing half a ton could break some Olympic records), Batman is noticeably weaker than other superheroes as most superheroes have Super-Strength. He can outmatch Spider-Man with his knowledge of over 100 different martial arts. At the same time, Batman is not strong enough to beat Spider-Man to death and even with his body armor, Batman would have little defense against someone as strong as Spider-Man (as Batman's body armor is light enough to allow him mobility).
    • Batman is slightly physically slower and weaker than Cap but has a slight edge in skill, MASTERING all the martial arts skills that he knows.
    • With his Hellbat armor, he becomes Strong and Skilled. Unfortunately, compared to Tony's wide assortment of varied armors, he was simply outclassed in versatility and technological prowess making him Unskilled, but Strong in comparison.
  • The Worf Effect: Batman's role in the series serves to function as this towards his designated opponents.
    • In Batman VS Spider-Man, the Dark Knight loses due to his main strengths (i.e. Crazy-Prepared, Stealth Expert, and lack of lethality in gadgets) being negated by Spider-Man's superhuman physiology and Spider-Sense.
    • In Batman VS Captain America, the Dark Knight wins due to his mastery of martial arts, smoke bombs, and pragmatism trumping Cap's more straightforward fighting style and inability to see past the smoke.
    • In Black Panther VS Batman, the Dark Knight loses due to his opponent being Strong and Skilled and having better resources and superior technology. Never mind the fact that he lacks any gadget capable of negating the Panther Habitat.
    • In Batman VS Iron Man, the Dark Knight loses due to his opponent being much more Crazy-Prepared than him and having many high-tech battle armors that are both powerful and flexible in combat compared to his Batsuits, and his own variety of high-tech battle armor being limited to specific beings, including the Hellbat armor.
  • "World's Best" Character: Batman is hands-down DC universe’s greatest detective, and is also one of its most skilled martial artists.
  • You Are Already Dead: Doesn't realize that Iron Man has implanted the Model 58 Nanosuit on his person since the start of the battle until it's pointed out to him near the end, where all he can do is try and resist the inevitable.

    Spider-Man (Season 1)

Spider-Man (Peter Parker)

Mary Jane: "Wait! Who are you?"
Spider-Man: "You know who I am."
Mary Jane: "I do?"
Spider-Man: "Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man!"

Peter Parker, the Spider-Man

  • All Webbed Up: Spider-Man invented the web shooter cartridges that produce webbing strong enough to restrain bruisers like the Hulk. Near the end of the fight, Spider-Man then constricts Batman with webbing by hitting him with several web balls all at rapid succession, rendering him helpless for Spider-Man to finish him off by ripping his torso clean off.
  • Animal Motif: Again, do I have to spell it out?
  • Apologetic Attacker: Let's out a playful "Sorry about that" after killing Batman.
  • Badass Bookworm: Peter was a nerdy bookworm before gaining his superpowers and is capable of kicking ass on top of it as Spider-Man.
  • Building Swing: Uses his webbing to swing across NYC. It's also how he enters his Death Battle.
  • Catch and Return: Can use his web lines to redirect thrown weapons.
  • Chick Magnet: It's outright listed in his feats that he has had more girlfriends than any other superhero.
  • Composite Character: He's a combination of the Mainstream (Earth-616) Spider-Man from the comics, the Spider-Men from both film series, and the Spider-Men from the various animated series and video-games, all of whom are separate characters in the Marvel Multiverse.
  • Confusion Fu: The Way of the Spider is a unique martial art that allows Spider-Man to utilize his Spider-Sense to the fullest. Allowing him to go toe-to-toe with the most advanced masters of combat, even while blindfolded. This is one of the factors that allows him to overcome Batman in their one-to-one battle despite the latter's greater experience and 127 martial arts.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Discussed. The hosts mention that if they give Batman prep time, then the same would also go for Spider-Man.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Listen to him during his battle with Batman; not entirely deadpan, but definitely a snarker.
  • Destination Defenestration: In their one-on-one fight, he gets knocked through a window into a tall tower by Batman, and the latter persistently tries to knock him out of another window. He eventually succeeds after a lot of hassle, but Spider-Man also pulls him down with him.
  • Determinator: A trait he shares with Batman. Despite possessing superpowers, it would also require a strong will to overcome the horrors, trauma, and adversaries that come with being a superhero and remain a good man despite being a Butt-Monkey.
  • Fantastic Fighting Style: He developed the Way of the Spider fighting style, using the Spider-Sense at its full capacity.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Spider-Man made his signature web-shooters, web fluid, and web cartilages on a budget.
  • Improbably High I.Q.: 250; not as bad an example of this trope as Donatello, but still pushing it.
  • It Began with a Twist of Fate: A bite from a radioactive spider turned unassuming nerd Peter Parker into a superhero.
  • Kryptonite Factor: Ethyl Chloride Pesticide. Since Batman wasn't given time to research Spider-Man's attributes, he didn't have any of the poison to use on him.
  • Leitmotif: The Spider-Man main theme, the main theme of The Amazing Spider-Man, his theme from Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Saving New York from The Amazing Spider-Man play during his analysis.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Spider-Man is fast, agile, very durable, and quite strong. Without Batman's gadgets, the Caped Crusader was easily overwhelmed by Peter Parker. Boomstick said that at the very least, Bats can handle Spider-Man's speed and strength, but the latter's Spider-Sense prevents that.
  • Man of Kryptonite: The combination of his Spider-Sense and the Way of the Spider makes Spider-Man nearly untouchable in combat and counter against other experienced and skilled martial artists, making him a bad match-up against Batman's main strengths.
  • Man of the City: To New York City.
  • Nerves of Steel: Keeps a talkative and joking persona in the most stressful situations as Spider-Man. In their one-on-one fight, Spider-Man is unfazed by the Dark Knight's intimidating appearance and is pretty much the only one quipping.
  • Primary-Color Champion: His costume is largely red and blue.
  • Projectile Webbing: Spider-Man's web-shooters allow him to shoot out his webbing as projectiles.
  • Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: How he made his physical contact against Batman at the start of the fight.
  • Really Gets Around: Even a bigger ladies' man than Batman himself. One of his listed feats during his analysis is having more girlfriends than any other superhero.
  • Revenge: Played for Laughs, he was once rejected by Batman from joining the Justice League. Boomstick jokes that he probably wishes he could fight him to the death in revenge.
  • Spider-Sense: Its warnings make it difficult for Batman to land a blow. True to the comics, it isn't always active and Spidey is tricked a few times even when it does activate, but still, it is key to his victory since it counteracts Batman's stealth tactics and projectiles. This forces Batman to resort to fighting in close combat, where the superhuman Spidey soon overpowers him.
  • Super-Speed: Can dodge automatic fire thanks to both his Spider-Sense and speed. He is sometimes depicted as running about 200mph. Boomstick claims that Batman could find ways to counter Spider-Man's speed, but Spidey's agility made it difficult for Batman to win a fair fight.
  • Super-Strength: Spider-Man can lift 10 tons, lift a tank, and knock a dinosaur out with a single punch. This is 20 times stronger than Batman. Batman's body armor could not survive the amount of damage Spidey could dish out. Spidey ended the fight by slingshotting himself into Batman with enough force and strength to rip off Batman's limbs, instantly killing him.
  • Super-Toughness: Spider-Man easily outlasts Batman, as Spiderman has survived superhuman blows in the past even though he is unarmored. He's been hit by cars and trains multiple times and had pumpkin bomb grenades blown up in his face, yet can continue a fight as if nothing happened. Batman's non-lethal gadgets and combat skills couldn't kill Spidey fast enough to guarantee a victory.
  • Taught by Experience: In the post-fight breakdown, it’s noted that one of the reasons for his victory is that his Arch-Enemy the Green Goblin uses many of Batman’s tricks.
  • Thou Shalt Not Kill: Like Batman, he also adheres to this principle, but it's also averted in the rules of Death Battle.
  • Trash Talk: Peter tends to run his mouth at opponents. For example- "You got a black belt in stupid if you think you're gonna beat me!"
  • Victory by Endurance: Besides being a Man of Kryptonite to Batman, Spider-Man is also able to outlast and exhaust Batman of whatever tricks he has up his sleeves.
  • Vigilante Man: One of the many traits he shares with Batman. Initially, Peter became Spider-Man as a way to earn money and feel validated after spending years as a bullied nerd with no friends. After the tragic circumstance of losing his Uncle Ben that involves him indirectly, Spider-Man atones by helping ordinary citizens and takes on threats that regular cops and the law can't handle.
  • Wall Crawl: Crawling up walls and buildings is one of his spider-like abilities.
  • You Will Not Evade Me: Uses his webs to bring Bruce in close several times.

    Captain America (Season 2)

Captain America (Steve Rogers)

Gabe Jones: "Who are you supposed to be?"
Captain America: "I'm... Captain America."

The Sentinel of Liberty

  • Absurdly Sharp Blade: The "blade" being his shield, which can cut through adamantium.
  • Badass Normal: That Super Serum increased his abilities beyond the maximum potential for humans, but he is still susceptible to guns and knives like any human man.
  • Blinded by the Light: When Batman tosses a shield covered in explosive gel, the resulting detonation blinds Cap, leaving him off-guard to Batman.
  • The Cameo: In The Flash vs. Quicksilver. Also makes an appearance in Deadpool vs. Pinkie Pie, where Deadpool poses as Batman and knocks him out with his shield. Then cameos again during Black Widow's rundown in Black Widow vs. Widowmaker.
  • Captain Ethnic: Steve Rogers Military Superhero codename is Captain America and he's an Irish-American.
  • Captain Patriotic: He's the Trope Codifier of this, being created mostly as a reaction to most people's desire to fight the Nazis in World War II.
  • Composite Character: Clips of his TV, cartoon, film, video game and comic book incarnations are used together in his bio.
  • Drugs Are Bad: He defeated a group of villains called the Drug Lords, who were personifications of typical street drugs.
  • Eagle Land: When his analysis mentions Steve Rogers becoming Captain America, Cap's picture gets superimposed images of fireworks, guns, and a flying eagle while Boomstick shouts "'MERICA!"
  • Finishing Move: The Captain attempted his Hyper Charging Star attack famously used in his Capcom videogames, but Batman used a smoke bomb and grappling hook to escape the attack.
  • Fragile Speedster: To some degree when compared to Batman. Cap can run almost 50mph yet his body armor is either very light or entirely non-existent compared to Batman's bullet-resistant armor. Because of this, Cap needs to use his shield to block attacks.
  • Genius Bruiser: Intelligent, and can kick ass. He is skilled at every form of hand-to-hand combat known to man.
  • Geek Physiques: Before his super-steroids, Cap was a frail, short, and sickly man. He had an encyclopedia of illnesses and potential vulnerability for most diseases. Most WW2-era facilities refused to accept him because of his frailty.
  • Groin Attack: Shown in his analysis to have given one to the Hulk, which impresses Boomstick for the sheer ballsiness of it.
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: Anyone unfortunate to be torso-shot by his shield, including Cap himself.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Batman tricks Captain America by spraying explosive jell on his shield. Cap expects the shield to ricochet or boomerang back to him, allowing Batman to throw the shield right at his feet without him immediately realizing the trap. After this Batman steals the shield, making Cap defenseless. Finally, he cuts America in half with the shield for good measure.
  • Human Popsicle: Cap fell into the Arctic Ocean and was frozen from the end of World War II until the modern-day (the exact date depending on when the comic or movie was created).
  • Hypocrite: In his rundown, the hosts lampshade that Cap promotes anti-drug use even though drugs are "the entire reason he became awesome".
  • Immigrant Parents: His parents were Irish immigrants.
  • Jumped at the Call: During World War II, he tried multiple times to enlist in the army, and was rejected each time until he signed up for Project: Rebirth.
  • Leitmotif: Captain America, Training the Supersoldier, Star Spangled Man, Captain America March, Invader's Montage and Triumphant Return from Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America's Theme from Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Lemurian Star from Captain America: The Winter Soldier play during his analysis.
  • Logical Weakness:
    • As lampshaded by Boomstick, Steve's Super-Senses, while sharper than the average person, aren't sharp enough to allow him to see past a solid wall of smoke which is something that Batman took advantage of in their fight. Also, Steve's Super-Senses serve as a double-edged sword, as after taking an explosive gel-laced shield to the face, he suffers from Sensory Overload, more so due to his senses being sharper than an average person, which allowed Batman enough time to get in and incapacitate him through Pressure Point.
    • As pointed out by Wiz, Captain America's own plethora of martial arts knowledge and being "good" at them won't help against an opponent whose martial arts knowledge is greater and had mastered all of them.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: His iconic Vibranium shield is a cornerstone of his fighting style, nearly indestructible, and can be thrown around like a boomerang. In the battle itself, this gave Cap the upper hand during the first half of the fight since Batman couldn't brute force his way past the shield until Batman used his mastery of stealth and trickery to disarm him.
  • McNinja: Boomstick classifies him as such because he knows ninjutsu.
  • Military Superhero: As Captain America, Steve Rogers serves as an American soldier fighting against the Axis Powers during World War 2.
  • Older Than They Look: He was born in 1920. After being frozen alive, he still looks like he's in his late 20s.
  • Pressure Point: Not as knowledgeable as Batman in this regard, but is still quite skilled in it. His inexperience compared to Bats renders him unable to counter Batman's own pressure point attacks.
  • Shield Bash: Commonly performs whacks, tackles, and punches with his shield as part of his fighting style.
  • Sickly Child Grew Up Strong: He was a skinny kid who aspired to fight for his country, but he was deemed unfit for service due to his weak build and multiple health problems. However, he was chosen for the US government's Project: Rebirth, a project in which he would be a test subject a super-soldier serum that would increase Steve's strength beyond the pinnacle of human performance. The serum was a success, and he became one of America's strongest warriors.
  • Stone Wall: With his indestructible shield, Captain America has been able to survive many deadly opponents. Even Batman's endless variety of gadgets made it impossible to get through Cap's defense through brute force. But Batman's stealth and disarming skills allowed him to steal Cap's shield. With Cap wearing, at best, light Kevlar he couldn't survive Batman's stealth ambushes and plastic explosives.
  • Super-Senses: Not to the extent as Spider-Man, but can pick up on sounds, smells, and sights far greater than the average human. This was an important point in the fight, Steve's senses aren't as worthy as the spider-sense, compared with Batman, who can sneak around Superman.
  • Super Serum: Steve was injected by one created by the US Government to make him one of their best soldiers against Nazi Germany.
  • Super-Soldier: He was created as one to counter the Nazi threat in the 1940s.
  • Super-Speed: Steve can run a mile in 73 seconds, over three times faster than the mile run record holder Hicham Guerrouj.
  • Super-Strength: He can lift 1100 pounds, twice as much as 2013's bench pressing record holder Eric Spoto.
  • Throwing Your Shield Always Works: Frequently throws his razor-sharp shield to and fro throughout his battles. This subverted in the fight itself where throwing away his shield is actually what costs Cap his victory.
  • Unbreakable Weapons: It's mentioned in the analysis that Cap's shield has only been broken by cosmic beings or Reality Warpers. Otherwise, it is impressive enough for Superman (the guy who can survive supernova explosions) to praise it and want one of his own. It even stopped the godly hammer of Mjolnir.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: To some degree against Batman. Captain America is slightly stronger and twice as fast as Batman but Batman has slightly superior skills and tactics than Cap.

    Black Panther (Season 5)

Black Panther (King T'Challa)

Black Panther: "Klaue, do you have any children?"
Ulysses Klaue: "...N-no?"
Black Panther: "Good... because I would have to kill them too."

Marvel's Royal Warrior Scientist

  • Absurdly Sharp Claws: The claws on his suit are made of Antarctic Vibranium, a.k.a. Anti-Metal, and can easily slash through anything — especially other metals — bar Wakandan Vibranium. As previously shown in Raiden vs. Wolverine, Antarctic Vibranium can even weaken Adamantium's molecular bonds. Batman's armor, while tough, was no match for that type of cutting power.
  • Anti-Armor: The Panther Habit's Panther Claws are made of Antarctic Vibranium and are especially able to weaken the molecular bonds of other metals, even Adamantium. Batman's Batsuit stood no chance once the claws came out.
  • Asskicking Leads to Leadership: To be crowned king, the first step of his initiation rite of passage was to beat down six powerful and trained opponents. He passed that with flying colors.
  • Badass Boast: Gives one which acts as a Pre Ass Kicking One Liner, a Pre-Mortem One-Liner, and a Bond One-Liner, seeing as he says this while killing Batman:
Black Panther: The strong shall hunt the weak — that is the law of nature! And my rule is law.
  • Color Character: Black Panther. It also doubles as Captain Ethnic due to being an African man who originated from Wakanda.
  • Empowered Badass Normal: T'Challa was a genius and a seasoned warrior even before he acquired mild superhuman strength, durability, agility, and senses by eating the Heart-Shaped Herb; and he is the totemic avatar of the Panther Goddess Bast.
  • Fed to the Beast: During the encounter in the orca enclosure, Batman attempts to do this to him by blowing up the walkway, but he avoids this fate by jumping off the falling debris. Later on, he pulls this off on Batman's decapitated body by kicking it into the orca pool, where one indeed eats Bruce.
  • Going to Give It More Energy: The major weakness of the vibranium-laced Black Habit is that it can only absorb and nullify so much kinetic energy at a time, and it tends to explode when given too much, leaving T'Challa vulnerable. Luckily for Black Panther, Batman didn't have any gadgets capable of such a feat before T'Challa could land the necessary killing blows.
  • Good Is Not Soft: Anyone wanting to invade Wakanda, as Boomstick learned as he was greeted with a scene from Secret Invasion of numerous dead Skrull bodies with a warning written in blood about what would happen to those who invaded Wakanda.
  • Immune to Bullets: His suit isn't just bulletproof; it stops the bullets in place and makes them immediately fall to the ground.
  • Lightning Bruiser: While T'Challa isn't the strongest, fastest, or toughest superhero in the Marvel Universe, he's still stronger, faster, and tougher than a normal human; and possesses superhuman senses, intensive combat experience, and vibranium-laced armor that make up for his shortcomings. While Batman has defeated opponents as strong, fast, and tough as T'Challa, the vibranium-laced Panther Habit gave him an insurmountable advantage.
  • Master of All: It's essentially why he beat Batman. As the hosts all but stated, he's basically Batman with superpowers, and if he wore a suit that's Made of Indestructium, and used claws that can cut through Indestructium.
  • Nigh-Invulnerability: The Panther Habit is virtually impervious to damage thanks to Vibranium nullifying kinetic energy, though it can be overwhelmed (explosively) should it absorb too much energy at once. Despite all of Batman's gadgets over his lengthy crimefighting career, he's never utilized anything that could bypass the Habit, and without any weak points to exploit, Batman just couldn't reliably kill him.
  • Off with His Head!: Inflicts this on Batman via Shoryuken.
  • Panthera Awesome: T'Challa's Panther Habit is themed after Wakanda's patron deity, the Panther Goddess — aka Bast — and as the Black Panther T'Challa acts as her totemic avatar.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: He's usually on the front lines of battle for his kingdom and the world.
Black Panther: To challenge a king is to face the might of his people!
  • Shoryuken: Uses one to knock out a rhino and uses another to slice Bruce's head off.
  • Stepping Stones in the Sky: When Batman breaks the bridge under him in an attempt to feed him to the orcas, he jumps across the debris as it's still falling to get to where Batman is and takes him by surprise.
  • Strong and Skilled: T'Challa had to beat several skilled warriors to earn his title and abilities (and is expected to do the same thing every year just to show he's still got it).
  • Super-Reflexes: While consuming the Heart-Shaped Herb and becoming Bast's avatar granted T'Challa's physical and sensory augmentations across the board, one of his greatest assets in combat is his enhanced kinesthetic awareness. While it certainly helped him in the fight, Batman's experience with fighting other superpowered opponents allowed him to keep up the pace.
  • Vibroweapon: While not explicitly mentioned by the hosts, two of the comic panelsnote  shown when explaining the Panther Habit's claws mentions that Antarctic Vibranium, which the Habit's claws are made of, emits a vibration that breaks down the molecular bonds of any other metals that it comes into contact with, up to and including Adamantium. Suffice it to say, Batman's armor put up minimal resistance against something that powerful.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: The lack of this played into his victory. Batman has often exploited specific weaknesses to defeat physically superior foes like cutting off Bane's Venom supply, but Black Panther has nothing for him to take advantage of.

    Iron Man (Season 8)

Iron Man (Tony Stark)

Iron Man: "You want my property? You can't have it! But I did you a big favor; I have successfully privatized world peace."
Voiced by: Reagan Murdock

Marvel's Genius Billionaire Playboy Philanthropist

  • Actually a Doombot: Thanks to the fact that he can pilot his many varieties of armors remotely means that even if one of them was scrapped, he would still be safe. The first armor he used was piloted this way.
  • The Atoner: After getting caught in an explosion from one of the bombs he created and sold along with being held by terrorist, Tony decided to make amends by ending his weapon manufacturing and building a more powerful armor suit to protect others.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Like Bruce, Tony has made many different sets of armor for every scenario, such as the Hulkbuster to combat the Hulk, or the Godbuster of which an earlier model was able to go up against Celestials. Tony had far more ways of ending the fight than Batman as a result. This was even shown in the fight animation — a Freeze-Frame Bonus reveals that he started hacking the Hellbat even before he encountered it, allowing him to disable it later on, and even earlier implanted the Mark 58 Nano Armor into Bruce from a simple Neck Lift, allowing him to turn the fight around when Bruce had him on the ropes.
Iron Man: (inside the Godbuster and alongside the Iron Legion) I've got a suit for everything, Bats! Including busting wannabe gods like you!
  • Deadpan Snarker: Like the last time he fought, Tony makes tons of snarky comments throughout the match.
  • Energy Absorption: Some of Tony's suits can do this, such as his Mark 50 Endo-Sym armor. According to the hosts' post-analysis, this was one of the ways Tony could defeat Batman, by draining the Hellbat suit until either it ran out of power or drained all of Batman's metabolism.
  • Fiction 500: Tony Stark is the head of a multi-billionaire tech company.
  • Flight: One of the standard features of all Iron Man suits is supersonic flight.
  • Friendly Enemy: At the start of the fight Tony was jovial, if cocky, and only started fighting in self-defense.
  • Hack Your Enemy: Tony has F.R.I.D.A.Y hack the Hellbat armor, leaving it open to be hit by a blast from Sol's Hammer.
  • I Need a Freaking Drink: After killing Bruce, Tony asks F.R.I.D.A.Y. for a drink.
Iron Man: F.R.I.D.A.Y., I could really use a drink.
  • Intangibility: Using Ghost Tech, Tony can do this to bypass Batman's physical defenses.
  • Kill Sat: Tony created Sol's Hammer, a space laser powered by an incomplete Dyson Sphere, which is capable of blowing up a planet at only 2% power. He fires it directly onto himself to take out the Hellbat, and it works, although it causes Tony's Virtual Armor to run out of energy.
  • Leitmotif: Whereas most vocal tracks for the fight animation are meant to represent both combatants, "Suit Yourself" more accurately fits Tony more than Bruce, as it's a hard rock song akin to the AC/DC and Black Sabbath songs that are associated more with Iron Man's MCU incarnation, with lyrics sung from his point of view that are part-Badass Boast talking about how great he is, while also doubling as "The Reason You Suck" Speech towards Bruce for being self-righteous.
  • One-Man Army: He can summon all of his Iron Man suits to battle alongside him, making him a literal one-man army.
  • Powered Armor: After being badly wounded by one of his own weapons and captured by terrorists, Iron Man built a suit of powered armor to escape. After doing so, he decided to become a superhero and improved on the suit dozens — if not hundreds — of times over the years.
  • Self-Destruct Mechanism: Some of his suits have this. Tony's finishing move weaponizes it by trapping Batman in the Nano Armor and having it self-destruct, reducing Bruce to nothing but a charred skeleton.
Iron Man: Model 58, the Nano Armor. Snuck it into your body back in the Watchtower. F.R.I.D.A.Y, initiate self-destruct.
  • Skewed Priorities: In the aftermath of the fight, all of Tony's armors are destroyed, a huge portion of the city is destroyed, and his arm is broken and bleeding thanks to Batman. His first priority is to ask F.R.I.D.A.Y. to get him a drink.
  • Straight Man and Wise Guy: The wise guy to Bruce's straight man. He's prone to Casual Danger Dialogue and cracking jokes while trying to blast Batman's face off.
  • Strong and Skilled: Despite being an ordinary human, Tony's armors all give him superhuman abilities, and he's built dozens for nearly every purpose over the years. While he is Weak, but Skilled compared to Batman's Hellbat armor, the sheer number of suits he's created meant he had a counter for everything Batman could throw at him.
  • Super-Intelligence: Tony built his first suit in a cave with a box of scraps. With actual resources, he's casually discovered time travel, built an (incomplete) Dyson sphere, and created an entire virtual universe (which he made into armor).
  • Super-Strength: A standard feature of all his armors. An outdated suit once destroyed a piece of rock as big as Manhattan.
  • Swiss-Army Weapon: A major advantage that Tony had over Batman was that even the most specialized of his armors, such as his Hulkbuster and Godbuster armor, had abilities that were shared between all of them whereas most of Bruce's suits were only useful against the opponents they're meant for.
  • Victory by Endurance: The hosts note that while it was unlikely any of Tony's suits could overpower the Hellbat armor in a straight-up fight, the sheer number of them coupled with the comparable power of some of his strongest like the Godbuster could definitely keep Bruce busy until Tony either figured out a workaround or Bruce's own body gives out from the strain of using the Hellbat
  • Virtual Sidekick: Tony’s armor contains the A.I. F.R.I.D.A.Y., who helps manage his suits’ functions, hack into enemy technology, can remotely operate other suits, and can react within a picosecond (a trillionth of a second).
  • Wealthy Philanthropist: Tony Stark once called himself a "genius, billionaire playboy philanthropist".
