Welcome to the Trope Pantheons thread! Please read the rules:

    Rules
Rules. The following are not suggestions or tips, but things that have to be followed:
  • When writing a profile, take note of the following:
    • Gods cannot be followers or high priests for obvious reasons. The 'gods' have ascended meaning there is no need for said character to be a follower of another if they have ascended.
    • No hype profiles, please. 'Hype Profiles' are profiles that have been made out of ongoing events and have not been around for a long time. This creates 'hype' due to popularity and certain elements either through certain scenes, memes, dramatic acting or considered overly awesome. They are not bad tropes but building a portfolio solely for that is a bad idea, as they do not say a thing about representing the trope best (unless it's those trope concepts that they are trying to embody for a long time)
      • You can see one if the profile is only showing off how awesome they are or suddenly pushing how 'significant' they are thanks to the just very recent events rather than respecting the longstanding good representations of the trope. And usually having... minimum portfolio or flavor texts and being a bit too generalized or self-contained to events from within their home series instead of interacting with other Pantheon members.
  • When posting in the forum, take note of the following:
    • When you suggest a God, please explain why they fit the trope. Not everyone is going to understand just "X should be the God of Y because they exemplify the trope" off the bat, especially if they're unfamiliar with the work.
    • You must use the Trope Pantheons discussion thread in the forums if you wish to add a new deity, story, something else of importance to the Trope Pantheon canon, or reworking an existing deity (be it simply improving their existing profile or changing their title).
      • For new and reworked deities, 3 [tup] means the profile will have a one week waiting period.
      • For new and reworked deities, 4 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 5 [tup] is an automatic ascension for new and reworked deities.
      • Speaking of reworks, for anyone that wants to improve such profiles, they have to review the current trope the character(s) has and see if it still holds up or if there is a better rep for their trope.
    • For adding new Treasures to The Great Treasury or new Dominions to the Dominions, the following rules apply:
      • For new Treasures or Dominions, 3 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 4 [tup] is an automatic addition to the Great Treasury or Dominions.
    • Do not repost a profile in the forums more than twice in a day if noticeable changes have not been made in between. If a profile is posted a third time in a row without noticeable alterations, it will be downvoted. This is so spamming of no-effort profiles is less frequent and to prevent tropers from getting aggravated seeing the same profile over and over. The minimum acceptable change has to be a single flavour text.
    • The Pantheon is not a mouthpiece for you to voice your opinions on certain characters. You may like certain characters more than others, but do not make the mistake of making profiles for characters you like look like Character Shilling.
    • Tropers new to the Pantheon are barred from approving or downvoting profiles until they have ascended at least two profiles.
    • Do not include fan reception in any profiles. It has nothing to do with the character themselves and will create unnecessary conflict.
    • Write a detailed explanation on why the character is the best candidate for deity of that trope. If people disagree with you, do not force it on the people.
    • Keep in mind that if you still want to try to find a trope for a particular character, you are only given three chances to find a particular trope for them. If a suggestion goes past three possible tropes, then it will come off as shoehorning a character into the Pantheon just for the sake of that character to be there.
      • On a related note, even if a character does have a free trope being suggested, there is still a limit of three attempts for suggesting that character for that trope. If no one responds to that certain proposal after being posted three times, then it will get to the point where the idea will be seen as being shoehorned into the Pantheon. In addition, the idea needs to be considered acceptable and approved because they are good, not for the sake of pitying others because no one is responding to their idea.
  • When posting Pantheon related stuff to the wiki, take note of the following:
    • Do not put a link to these Pantheon pages into the main wiki page. The moment you want to add in a main Characters page that the character is a God of this trope, do not do it. If you see leftovers of this practice, inform the forum and use the cutlist. This also goes to the Trivia page. The only exception to this rule is if a page in the Pantheon could be confused for a page in Main, like Good Colors, Evil Colors and Good and Evil Colors.
    • Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment ALSO applies here. Do not bring things that would incite fights, even if it is what is currently the hot topic and might be 'urgent'. For example, the political scene and some really bad politicians. We are not here to fight at each other, so don't suggest things that go to that direction, this is a fictional Pantheon after all.
    • To add a Pantheon page for a certain work, 4 or more characters coming from the same series/franchise should be ascended before adding the page. For Creator specific pages, 4 deities coming from the same creator and 2 individual work pages coming from the same creator is the minimum to warrant a page.
    • Do not create a trope page for a story until the story is fully completed.

    Instructions and Tips
Here are some tips one should keep in mind when editing:

  • Preparing to write:
    • First thing to do before present a profile is to go to the Trope Pantheons discussion thread. In the forums, you must discuss with other users on adding ideas and seek their approval with sound reasoning. You can also get some assistance in the forum thread by either asking for help and those interested asking if they can help. Submissions that are added without discussion are likely to be deleted and those who violate those rules by adding Pantheon content without discussion will get reported to the mods.
    • If you feel the need to remove a character for some reason (poor quality, outdated titles, etcetera) and replace him/her with another or outright rework, please see what the other tropers think about this in the discussion thread before doing anything hasty. Use good reasoning to see if your idea can easily replace the character present without drawing out your statement or giving too ambiguous claims most do not understand.
    • Please be sure to consult others in the discussion about what you want to work before making the profile. This is done to see if your proposal is the best representative and so, in case your profile is turned down, you do not waste time writing something that others might not find suitable.
      • In the same vein, if you adopt a profile from another troper, it is recommended that you make an announcement that you have done so on the discussion thread. More often than not, a trope that was reserved for something was given away to someone else. Check the Related tab on the top of a page to see if a trope or character has been reserved by a user.
    • If, for whatever reason, you are writing about a God who just happens to be a person in real life, just try to be very careful about what you decide to say. Do not try to make the editing seem too meta (self-referential) and use the aformentioned creativity to create hypothetical scenarios towards fictional characters.
  • When writing a profile for a character, here are a few things to note:
    • All deities should be sorted by their divine ranking. Put Overdeities on the top of the page and Quasideities on the bottom. Also be sure to add them in alphabetical order by their first/given name (can be reversed if it is Eastern ordered). For a group, if there is no official name for them all list down all their names by order of relevance or (if too long to list) title them as Insert Name Here Main Characters or some other identifiable title along the same lines.
    • The maximum number of tropes that a god can have is two, but do not try to abuse that fact. If you need to use a second trope to specify a certain thing about their position, that can be excused either because said character represents their trope choice very well alongside the first trope. It is still generally encouraged to only have one trope.
    • A trope can only belong to one profile at a time. The only time two profiles can share a trope is if there are explicit variations listed in the trope page proper (e.g. Muscle Angst is held by both Biscuit Krueger and Chihiro Fujisaki as the former represents "Too Much Muscle" and the latter represents "Not Enough Muscle")
    • If the character you are about to add to a House already exists in another, make sure to mention that this person has spots in other House as well. Up to 2 places can be made for a deity, with the sole exceptions being those at the Main House to highlight those characters’ importance to the Pantheon’s lore.
    • For a character's theme song, try to avoid calling it "Theme of God X" or "Theme of (Show where God X originates from)". If possible, try to find out if the song has an actual name through research. Most importantly, it has to be part their series’ official soundtracks from media. Do not list songs that are made by fans or outside sources. If they were not specifically used as music for that specific character, then they do not count. Furthermore, it has to be a general theme specifically made for that characters’ appearances, not some generic music that plays for many other instances not related to the character in question.
    • For images, when adding an image for your chosen character, it is highly recommended to use a stylized image that embodies the character or renders that also highlights a character’s behavior (such as cool poses). Most images should be from the main adaptations of the character, unless the images from the other media are of a higher quality than the adaptation. Unless it is needed, do not use fanart for images. If you are, please attribute to the original artist. Due to the website’s dark mode, removing white backgrounds from an image is paramount. This website is suggested to do the background removal. If an image you have takes up too much bytes, it is suggestible to use this site to reduce the byte size. If the byte is still too big, put the compressed image to other sites (or even the same one) to compress even further. Use wikias to look for better images, as even wikias for the series might not contain good official images.
    • Creativity is your friend. While it is not recommended to get too ditzy at your ideas, it is best that when writing a profile for a certain character, do you think of capable scenarios between X and Y. Tip: do not use shallow examples (X wields a sword and Y wields one too) and try to think of relationships that makes sense (i.e those characters that are shout-outs for another).
  • Pantheon Content:
    • Some series or genres will eventually have greater representation in the Pantheon than others. This is unavoidable, but a little diversity helps to make you not look like a shill per say. Try to ensure that if you add a deity from a popular series, make sure that it is because they are a good representative for the trope in question, and not just because they are connected to another deity in their respective canon.
      • As far as deities from actual mythologies, there is generally expectation to build the profiles off interactions from fictional portrays rather than basing it entire from the actual myth. Therefore, a mythological deity should be more of a Composite Character whose main identity is from the actual myth.
    • Occasionally there will be Gods that carry a title without a trope. This is not forbidden, but it is well advised not to abuse them. The only house that a tropeless profile are wholly allowed is the House of Food. Mainly due to most food items lacking tropes, and adding tropes about said foodstuffs is slightly unnecessary. However, the character being ascended for their choice of a food, or food-related thing must be a decently good representative of said item. (i.e their Trademark Favorite Food, or something that they are closely associated with In-Universe, or both).
    • For Dominions and Treasures profiles, always consider what made those places/objects popular in the first place. Were they plot-important, identifiable imagery or have a unique aspect of it? Do not just bring regular objects under the basis of following a certain canon.
  • For Profile Standards:
    • Flavor text is used to describe certain things about a character, place or object. To avoid short ones, it is recommended to write flavor text with 4-7 sentences that can fill around 2 lines each. Be warned that adding too many sentences does not equal good flavor text as it is not an essay of sorts (unless words are substantial and do add to the overall line).
    • Character Profiles of a certain person should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 7 (at the minimum) tropes describing their character.
      • Flavor text count for a deity profile should have by minimum, 10 (depending if the character in question has enough relationships/characterization) to 15 with a maximum of 20-25 for an individual profile.
      • On the other hand, group profiles (profiles of a group that has 4 or more members) have their maximum flavor text count to 15 minimum, giving individual lines for the other members of the group (unless the members are not as characterized) up to 30 at max.
    • Dominion profiles of a certain place should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 5 (at the minimum) tropes describing the context of the place.
      • Flavor text count should range at least 10 to 15.
    • Treasure profiles (inanimate objects without a trope) should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 6 (at the minimum) tropes that describes the object itself.
      • Flavor text count should be at least 7 flavor text up to 12 to constitute a treasure profile.

    Divine Ranking System
  • Overdeity: Omnipotent-level Reality Warpers capable of manipulating the entire universe (or at least the world) at will. Within their own universe they are believed to be omnipotent, or at least impossible-to-completely-destroy embodiments or concepts.
  • Greater Gods: High-level Reality Warpers and that are extremely powerful (capable of destroying or changing anywhere from a large city to a planet at will) and very strong non-reality warpers capable of doing the same thing.
  • Intermediate Gods: Deities at this level are capable of strong but specialized powers such as hydrokinesis, pyrokinesis, etc. without major drawbacks and low level Reality Warpers capable of affecting their immediate area at will.
  • Lesser Gods: Capable of highly specific or little power on their own, or suffer from Power at a Price. However, they may be able to ruthlessly exploit their power or combine it with just being badass enough to make up for it.
  • Demigods: Basically the Badass Normals of the pantheon, making up for their lack of abilities with strength, strategy, and/or planning.
  • Quasideities: Any otherwise normal human, human equivalent, or below without any special powers or training will fall here.

    Templates
Template for adding a new deity:

God X, God/dess of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Rank: This can range from Quasideity, Demigod, Lesser God, Intermediate God, Greater God, to Overdeity, based on representation of power mentioned above.
  • Symbol: An image or icon used to represent the deity.
  • Theme Song: Official song (in other words, no fan music, regardless of quality) that usually is used in affiliation with the character. If the deity is a musician this will most likely be their Signature Song. If possible, give a link for reference, preferably on either a website like Soundcloud or YouTube.
  • Alignment: Good, evil, neutral etc. Forget about The Great Character Alignment Debate here, the Pantheon is one of the few places where you can assign Dungeons & Dragons alignment to characters that don't have alignment system. After all, the Pantheon is based on D&D and is made for fun.
  • For Pokémon deities only:
    • Gender: Defines the gender of the Pokémon; if genderless, it instead defines what gender they identify as.
    • Ability: Provides the Pokémon's ability. If they can Mega Evolve, the new ability is listed as well.
    • Moves: Defines the four moves used by a Pokémon. A Z-Move may also be listed.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the character.
  • Domains: Things that the character has influence over.
  • Herald: Non-ascended loyal character that is from the same series as the ascended character.
  • High Priest: Non-ascended like heralds, but not from the same series, and can serve as a worthy replacement in case something would happen. They can be served as part-time workers in case the originals are busy with some jobs. Co-Godhood is accepted depending on the approval of the originals, usually if the co-deity is from the same series.
  • Followers: Non-ascended characters that are not part of the Pantheon, but would probably worship this character by the fact that they share the ascended character's trope.
  • Relationships between ascended characters go here with your chosen character, it goes something like this:
    • Allies: Members of the Pantheon that are allies, those that share the same values as them and would theoretically be friends with them.
    • Rivals: Members of the Pantheon that are rivals, people who may look at your character with suspicion or a challenge.
    • Enemies: Members of the Pantheon that are foes, those who would see your chosen character as a threat, either on their pespective or yours.
    • Additional Character Relationships: Members of the Pantheon that do not fit in various relationships (examples include Enemy Mine, Vitriolic Best Buds, Teeth-Clenched Teamwork, Headbutting Heroes, Friendly Enemy, Friendly Rival, Just Friends, etc.), allies, rivals, or enemies.
    • Partner: Defines a partnership with an ascended deity and Mon-type. (if any)
    • Feared by/Fears: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon notably fear or are feared by.
    • Respected by/Respects: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon respect or are respected by.
    • Opposed by/Opposes: Not necessarily the same as "Enemies", but this is used for any deity whom the members of the Pantheon directly opposes or is opposed by (basically the opposite of "Respects") terms of certain viewpoints, regardless of alignment.
    • Pitied by/Pities: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon feel pity for or are found pitiable by.
    • Conflicting Opinion: Sometimes, the Deities argue over specific themes and philosophies.
  • Add the Intro. The intro is made up of two trivia, the Ascension Text (or just the Ascension) and The Bio. Both are necessary, but which order you use for them may vary depending on the profile in question. It may be better for one profile to have The Bio first and the Ascension second or vice-versa, although for the most part the order is irrelevant:
    • The Ascension Text: This the story of how the character got into the Pantheon and/or was ascended. There are many ways for this to happen. They may be tricked into it or have simply wandered into the Pantheon, they may have had an already ascended character bring them in, they may already be in the Pantheon (via being another deity's Herald or sharing a trope) and got "promoted", or some combination of the above. Anything is possible in the Pantheon, so use your imagination, but try to incorporate their trope into the story, if possible.
    • The Bio: A brief synopsis on the character's backstory. No need for the character's entire life/production history, but just give enough that those who don't know the character can get an idea of how the character works.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Deities/Characters is 10-15 (15-20 for group profiles) at minimum to 20-25 (30 for group profiles) at maximum.

Template for Dominions profiles:

Place X, Place of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Alignment: Refers to the dominion's role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the dominion.
  • Domains: Things that the place has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the location has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as where the dominion is linked to, note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said dominion, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Dominion is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Dominions is 10 at minimum to 15 at maximum.

Template for Treasure profiles:

The name of the item in here (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Appearance: A shortened description of the item's looks with some notable features also mentioned.
  • Class: Refer to the Treasure Classification System in the Great Treasury.
  • Alignment: Refers to the objects' role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Museum Check: A note that says whether the item is viewable by the public.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the item.
  • Domains: Things that the item has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the item has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as where the item is linked to (especially the original owner of the item), note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said object, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Treasure is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Treasures is 7 at minimum to 12 at maximum.

@Shinobi: Again, I feel the distinction is arbitrary. Cause if we take a step back and look at what the tropes is about, we can see that it about sharks that are a menace. Very cut and dry. Sure, Garchomp is on land but I don't see how that is a big enough difference to justify splitting the trope. You could honestly easily argue splitting the trope for flying sharks or space sharks for the same reasons as Garchomp.

And you bring up Lizard Folk as a point for your argument, but I feel that is actively detrimental to your point as unlike with Threatening Shark there is large and distinct differences in how the trope is portrayed that you can justify splitting it between multiple reps, such as fantasy Lizard Folk or sci-fi Lizard Folk. And while I personally think the Hunters are not great reps for the tropes, you could at least argue that they represent beastial Lizard Folk.

  • Vitriolic Best Buds with: Dr Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik (excluding his more serious incarnations), Hal Stewart/Titan
  • Rivals: The Evil Geniuses
  • Enemies: Felonius Gru, Dexter, Megamind, Hank Pym/Ant-Man, Ray Palmer/the Atom, the Powerpuff Girls, The Hedgies
  • Opposes: Rusty, Patrick Bateman, Robert Daly
  • Opposed by: Bandit, Tinker and Pirate
  • Sitcom Archnemesis with: Deities associated with the moon like Princess Luna or Selene, Cynthia
  • On poor terms with: The Egyptian gods and those native to the country of Egypt
  • In his time Felonius Gru has dealt with some skilled antagonists...and then there's Victor Perkins. The son of the owner of the Bank of Evil, Victor is a nerdy and immature young man who wants to strike out as his own as a hip, young villain. He goes by "Vector", a mathematical term applying to both direction and magnitude. Wanting to be known as the world's greatest thief, he managed to steal the Great Pyramid of Giza thanks to daddy's money and has a bunch of fancy technology...thanks to daddy's money. Gru fought him over the shrink ray, and later the Moon that he tried to take for himself after Gru shrunk it.
  • Victor Perkins was thought to have been stuck on the now regrown moon, though it's kind of unclear. Given who his father is, he may have just been rescued anyway. Needless to say he's still pretty salty over the whole affair and wants revenge on Gru. Doge was intrigued at the idea Vector could get back at the Minions too since it would annoy Karen, but soon decided Vector was "cringe" as he is outclassed by almost every other Despicable Me baddie. That's not to say one later foe of Gru didn't see potential in Vector; Balthazar Bratt. He wants revenge on Gru as well, so he proposed a Villain Team-Up. They're both show-offs with fun quirks to their name, so Victor decided "eh, what the heck. Do me a solid and I'll give you a good word to dad".
  • Would prefer people refer to him as Vector even if they don't get the reference. Though mostly harmless, he did still steal the Great Pyramid and in doing so he isn't all that liked by anyone from Egypt. Vector isn't too fond of those associated with the moon due to how that backfired in his face and he got stuck up there; he's sworn he's going to up his game by one-upping all those who call the moon their domain. It's entirely talk, and he is largely ignored by them. They do wonder what he feels about Dr Eggman given he blew up half the moon that one time, and the answer is "it depends". The goofier versions of Eggman have a soft spot for the cocky Evil Genius, perhaps reminding them as a younger, inexperienced version of themselves. He still recognizes him as a brat though, and Vector only amuses the versions capable of being Affably Evil and lighthearted.
  • Vector tried looking for a shrink ray in the Trope Pantheon, but he couldn't find it. He did, however, find two superheroes who use shrinking powers; Ray Palmer/the Atom, and Hank Pym/Ant-Man. Immediately he started harassing them as he wants their powers, both to shrink himself and to shrink other things for fun. They immediately outplayed and knocked him out, before putting a "kick me" sign on his back for good measure. Rather than be humbled and realized his limits, the up and coming supervillain has sworn revenge for the humiliation. To date, neither size-shifting superhero takes him even remotely seriously and consider his antics amusing rather than threatening.
  • The Hall of Villainous Reputation has lumped Vector in with "those lovably goofy, not too bright baddies". The Grand United Alliance of Evil regards him as barely passing membership, as he mainly uses his father's connections. They tend to put him in the metaphorical kid's table as the Team Rocket trio or the League of Super Evil. As a young bad guy wanting to prove himself that's fine for now, since there are so many actually serious villains in the GUAE that he's scared of the "adult table". He tends to geek out around Jesse and James, as he loved watching their show and he wants to try and capture some Pokemon of his own.
  • He and Dr Drakken occasionally work together in order to prove themselves as villains, with Vector particularly interested in outdoing the Evil Geniuses...and trying to make his own doomsday device "for a rainy day". Vector admits they're cool and his dad would definitely consider financing them, but he only admits that in private to keep his "street cred" that he doesn't actually have but thinks he does. The tiny, villainous inventor Sheldon J Plankton was intrigued by Vector and not because the Evil Geniuses called him mediocre, so he suggested they could work together to achieve their mutual ends. The two also prefer not to go by their first name. Amusingly enough Vector of all people questioned why he doesn't just patent his inventions to which Plankton yelled "It's not about the money, it's about beating the crab!"
  • He is currently trying to hunt for two shiny Carvahna; one to be the star of his piranha gun, and the other to evolve into a friend for his pet shark. The piranha gun is his invention, by the way, and he won't let up about that fact. He has a soft spot for the Hall of Aquatic Life, and has made a lavish aquarium for Bruce and the piranhas. They seem to like it, but probably because they see Victor as a, well, vector for the carnage they enjoy. Victor Perkins tried to capture the Kraken but he's yet to figure out how to do so safely. He also wanted to catch Garchomp the land-shark, however Garchomp is Cynthia's partner. He wants to prove that he's a better trainer than her and can out-think whatever strategies she comes up with...and she couldn't care what he thinks.
  • Bandit, Tinker and Pirate aren't fond of Vector for how he weaponizes animals, however Vector isn't that evil. He's said "oh if you want to see animal abuse, look no further than Rusty!" Rusty is also extremely stupid while Vector is brilliantly arrogant so they were never going to get along anyway. As he's on the light-hearted scale of villainy, he sees what his fellow nerd Robert Daly does as "deeply disturbing", and he considers Patrick Bateman as "deeply disgusting". Why did he single him out? Well they're both the spoiled sons of rich bankers, but Vector is a comical supervillain while Bateman is a sadistic psychopath. When Patrick sarcastically asked "what's even the difference", Vector said "PRESENTATION!".
  • If you're wondering, yes Megamind was aware that Vector quoted him and no, he was not impressed. Frankly, he sees Vector as lame and his "hip, new nerdy villain" routine as trying too hard. This annoyed Vector, but what pushed him into conflict with Megamind was complimenting Gru over Vector since Gru actually had to prove himself against others. Vector decided "you know what, since you're a good guy now let's see how much of a superhero you really are!". He tried to call up Balthazar Bratt but he was busy, so instead he called Hal Stewart, Megamind's nemesis. Hal is a similarly entitled jerk, and took the opportunity to get even. However this is an alliance of convenience as Hal's stupidity gets on Vector's nerves.
  • He likes to buy girl scout cookies, but his favorite cookie is coconut-cookie. He's open to try some other treats; he decided to try some of Muffet's bakery goods. Vector didn't expect something made of spiders to be tasty and guesses it's not for everyone, he mainly did it out of curiosity, but hey he was pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately for him while he was gone the Hedgies had managed to steal the box of girl scout cookies he hadn't finished, and ever since then he has been in conflict with them. On another note, with his flashy tech and money to burn he's somehow convinced himself he's comparable to Seto Kaiba and he intends to claim his super-rare Blue Eyes for himself; they're something daddy's money can't buy. Kaiba considers him laughably pathetic.
  • Enjoys playing video games with Mandark. Like him, Mandark is an Evil Nerd who goes by a nickname instead of his actual name. Except unlike Victor Perkins, he actually has a good reason to do so. Mandark's eternal rival Dexter wasn't shocked the two would get along, nor was he shocked that Vector sees him as a rival. Unlike his hate of Gru, Vector actually respects Dexter as an adversary since he sees him as a likeminded individual. However, he's also jealous that Dexter has better toys than him (though he'd never admit it). When Mandark isn't available to play video games with him, he'll call up Bowser Jr and Nina Cortex. He can relate to them somewhat given his background and own villainous parentage.

  • Publicly Eduardo Perez is owner of the Mexican restaurant at a mall, Salsa y Salsa. He's charming, macho Mexican, but privately he is the thought to be deceased supervillain El Macho. El Macho is a Masked Luchador villain famed for being really macho; he pulled off heists with his bare hands. He faked his death in the coolest way possible; riding a shark with 250 pounds of dynamite strapped to his chest into an active volcano. Plotting world domination, he managed to convince Dr Nefario to side for him for a time and turn the Minions savage with the PX-41 serum, making them a ferocious army. He may have succeeded if he convinced Gru to be his amigo, and though he lost he remains one of the more memorable villains of his world.
  • Eduardo Perez was considered an attractive choice for the Macho Latino as "Testosterone Poisoning Latin American" is his whole identity. However he's not just a meathead, as he effortlessly faked his death, made a huge machine and plane and is a macho planner. There might be a lot more serious and dangerous villains out there than him, but he's still a pro at what he does. Despite the bad blood between the two (also, his son cheated on one of Gru's daughters) Gru still respects him for what a brilliant badass he is, and El Macho also holds respect for him. However, he is still trying to take over the world and Gru is a member of the Anti-Villain League.
  • Because of how much of a fun, cheery guy he is in spite of his evil, many Mexican superheroes see him more of a Worthy Opponent they have to stop in order to save the world rather than someone to actively despise. Speedy Gonzales is a particularly fun Friendly Enemy of El Macho's as they both represent pretty positive stereotypes of Mexicans. He really likes squaring off against Rey Mysterio, who's "beef" started because Eduardo challenged him for the title of Masked Luchador. His manliness and villainy has made Eduardo one of Bender's exceptions to his "kill all humans" list (something normally reserved for his friends)" and he even got El Macho's autograph. Eduardo is somewhat disappointed by Bender for how fast he gave up his superhero career and is a bit too impulsive to be a proper supervillain...but he is hilarious so El Macho thinks he has some potential. But if he wants another autograph, he better improve his Spanish.
  • He and Balthazar Bratt aren't friends, but he does see potential in a fellow supervillain and enemy of Felonius Gru. Inspired by the supervillains of Marvel and DC, Eduardo Perez envisions himself leading a Legion of Doom to defeat their shared enemies, take over the world...and monitor some of the less stable or cunning Illumination supervillains. In all honesty, he'd prefer it if Gru or Nefario would side with him but that's not going to be an option. One (via adaptation) Illumination supervillain he absolutely wanted on his team, though, was Bowser. He's definitely macho, is usually Affably Evil and occasionally proves just as cunning as El Macho.
  • One of the things that help him and Bowser get along is that they are both loving fathers even if they are also villains, though El Macho doesn't get his kid involved in his schemes. While he has nothing against Ozai's plan for world domination, his personal cruelty is something the supervillain abhorrent and he holds contempt for the Child Abuse Supporters in general, saying "you lot give villainy a bad name!" Though usually not a villain, he has issues with Peter Griffin for his bad parenting. These issues were only enhanced when he and Ernie the Giant Chicken met. Eduardo Perez is quite fond of his pet chicken, and he recognizes Ernie's ability to kick ass. So he decided to train him in physical fitness, which was also done to get himself back into shape. As such, he has been labeled "an accessory to my greatest enemy!" by Peter.
  • Eduardo Perez's passion for Mexico is strong. He has a chest tattoo of the Mexican flag, is dressed like a Mexican super wrestler and his lair is decorated very Aztec-like. He's quite impressed by the Pillar Men, or "Aztec gods of fitness" as some have called them, and he sees their toned bodies as motivation to get back into shape. He's sympathetic towards Butters due to how much he has helped the country of Mexico, and amused by his adorable attempt as supervillainy in the form of Professor Chaos. Despite having differing goals and being from series with much different tones, El Macho gets along with Bane as they're both Macho Latinos with an impressive amount of cunning.
  • While a villain from another country, El Macho admires Captain America for his heroic spirit and being a great, positive representation of the United States. Steve appreciates the compliment, though he still regards him as an enemy since he's a supervillain aspiring for world domination. El Macho jokes that their fight "will be another Mexican-American War, but this time we win!" Like many supervillains, El Macho detests the Red Skull and will actively help Cap stop him. Due to his more flamboyant and comedicnote  demeanor, the Mexican supervillain is more than likely to find himself fighting Team America in what he's jokingly called "another Mexican-American War".
  • He's wondered what effect Bane's Venom might've had on the Minions, especially if used in conjunction with PK-41. Perhaps more appealing to Eduardo is Chemical X. As such, he has sought out (read: kidnapped) Professor Utonium and tried to get him to make more for him. As badass as he is El Macho is still human and ended up losing. He was a Graceful Loser, admitting that even he makes mistakes like not playing the long game dealing with them, and said they are still welcome to go to his restaurant. Professor Utonium refuses to accept any of his Affably Evil behavior as his scheme painfully reminds him of Dick Hardly. Given what a monster Dick was, Eduardo Perez takes offense to the comparison.
  • El Macho doesn't just use rattlesnake venom as a chaser, he eats the glass. Moe Syzlack doesn't get how he could possible enjoy that, but he made sure to use his snake handler talents for this rather exotic dish. One of the barflies present at the same time was Oberyn Martell, who's from a region of Westeros inspired by Spanish and Moorish culture. El Macho took a liking to the Red Viper for his guile and Hot-Blooded personality, and his charm with the senoritas. While Eduardo Perez is a supervillain, he's pleasant company and definitely more moral than a lot of those Westeros can undeniably label as "evil" so Oberyn finds him a good conversationalist. Eduardo really likes Dornish spicy food and would like to study more of the culture.
  • Being the badass that he is, Eduardo Perez does not want to be reminded of how his final defeat was with a fart gun. This is why he drops any affably evil traits around the New Kid. Oh sure, even he isn't above some Toilet Humor now and then, but fighting your opponents with farts? Now that, he just can't let that stand! On another note, while he's a villain who gained a superpowered form for a time thanks to a variant of the mutagen used on the Minions, he's no fan of Hal Stewart and considers him pathetic. On the flip side he respects Raoh for how awesome his actual death was.

[up] I actually have a better trope for Buggy than his current one: Mistaken for Badass, and I'd like to request to change his trope to such.

Reason: Buggy the Clown is a Starter Villain who hardly poses a threat on his lonesome to any of the big names in the series, and still is. However, a lot of his growth is a result of an in-universe reputation of being way more powerful than he really is. Due to his history with the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, as well as personally knowing Shanks, a legitimately fearsome and legendary pirate, he gains the allegiance of a whole army of Impel Down prisoners who are generally much stronger than him. He continues to get into situations that make him appear more badass without context, liking directly confronting Whitebeard, surviving Mihawk (due to his powers actually granting immunity to cutting), and while his escape from Impel Down wasn't led by him, the Marines believed it to be a genius plan by him given similar schemes from the actually competent Blackbeard, leading to him being promoted to Warlord and eventually one of the Four Emperors (basically a title for the most infamous pirates alive). Despite some people who actually know better and actually boss over him, his reputation only improves with time.

As the guy who did Buggy, I dont think that fits because Buggy has some genuinely badass moments as of late. He’s even presented a bit intimidating in his first appearance.

Also, the One Piece manga's final arc is still ongoing, so it's likely too early to change Buggy's trope, as future plot developments might invalidate Buggy's worthiness of holding Mistaken for Badass.

[up][up] Yeah, that's true and given One Piece's Long Runner status, that could start another problem later.

The other possible tropes I had in mind were The Power of Acting and Petty Childhood Grudge, but still unsure on those.

I'm going to propose a rework of Neith soon, but do you guys know of any other pieces of media in which she appears? Besides her base religion there is Smite, Marvel Universe, The Kane Chronicles, and a one-scene cameo in Gunnerkrigg Court. Is there anything I might be missing before trying to propose the rework?

Paul Bäumer, Denouncer of the Horrors of War

  • Paul Bäumer is a soldier who served in the Imperial German Army during World War I. Like most of his schoolmates, he volunteered to join due to the influence of his teacher Kantorek, who routinely gave speeches to students about how honorable and glorious it was to fight for one's country. Paul and all of his friends would discover that the reality of war is far more sordid, with fear, suffering and death being constant presences in the army life. There's also not much room for dignity in the battlefield, with soldiers being so strapped for food, clothing and other resources that they'll steal them off a comrade's back the moment he passes. Despite these conditions, Paul grew so used to this life that he could no longer connect with his family or friends when he was allowed temporary leave to visit them, and was only too glad to come back. Then after slowly losing all of his comrades one-by-one, he unluckily died on a peaceful day in October 1918, a few short weeks before the Armistice.
  • After his death in that otherwise "all quiet" day of October 1918, Paul woke up to find himself in another battlefield, under the command of the infamous warmonger Wilhelm Strasse, aka Deathshead. As someone who is fanatically devoted to fighting for his country and determined to expand its borders, Deathshead thought he would "re-educate" his co-patriot Paul to understand his duty and see the glory in waging war, especially now that he was in a place called the Pantheon where he could never truly die and thus be all that more useful to the war effort. Needless to say, Paul thought this prospect was horrifying, and it didn't help that it quickly became evident how much more cruel Deathshead was than any of the tyrannical commanders he had served under. Not willing to go through an eternity of war, Paul deserted the moment he saw a chance to, being quickly brought under the wing of some neutral deities whom he asked for asylum.
  • Although his efforts to adapt to a peaceful civilian life are undergoing (as is completing his studies), he decided it was definitely better than the alternative, and he would go on to become one of the Pantheon's foremost spokesmen against the horrors of war, making him diametrically opposed to any who espouse that War Is Glorious or derive enjoyment or profit out of it. It would be an understatement to say that Deathshead is bitterly disappointed in Paul and ashamed of a fellow German who turned "yellow-bellied" and now talks of peace. Paul is now one of his top targets for assassination, if only out of sheer pettiness. Another German who seconds Deathshead's feelings regarding Paul is Franz Vahlen, who suported the use of poison gas during WWI, much to Paul's disgust as he's witnessed firsthand the effects of such a weapon on his comrades and could sum it up as a Cruel and Unusual Death. On top of that, Vahlen was perhaps even more cruel than Deathshead in the utterly merciless way he treated not only his enemies (whom he had executed just for knowing the locations of bases), as well as his allies, to the point where they grouped up to perform a Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal. Paul can recall some good times when he and his friends got some harmless revenge on abusive commanders, but he thinks Vahlen must have really been something else to get that level of retribution.
  • It was through reading more on Deathshead and Vahlen's cases that Paul came to learn, much to his horror, that there was another, even nastier "Great War" that followed two decades after the end of the one he knows all too intimately. And not only that, but his country by then had turned into a tyranny powered by hatred and responsible for some of the biggest monstrosities perpetrated both before and during that second war. This was all understandably a bitter pill to swallow for Paul, but he would not excuse his country for everything it did, especially when such an environment created monsters wearing human skin like Deathshead and Vahlen. If anything it makes him all the more determined to continue to speak out against war and work to bring peace to everyone.
  • Nor are the two global wars the only ones that Paul needs to think about; the Pantheon is a place outside of conventional time and space, so there are multiple wars and their veterans that might either from sometime far into the future from where Paul originally was, or else from completely different dimensions that practice warfare that Paul could not readily imagine. And yes, there are several bad apples all around who at best laugh at Paul, or at worst are out to get him just like Deathshead. Examples would be Apollyon, a (much to Paul's shock) female soldier who developed such a strong Might Makes Right view that she believes eternal war is preferable to peace, and also Sundowner, who thinks war is great fun and an excellent source of profit. To Sundowner's famous plea to "give war a chance", Paul would not hesitate to say "never again". Lastly, though not exactly a warmonger, John Kreese's experience with war led to him believing it's better to be merciless, pragmatic and ruthless, which Paul doesn't necessarily disagree with if it's for the sake of surviving, but Kreese seems to take it to a toxic level with his students.
  • Soldiers with amputated limbs is a sight Paul got very used to during the war; it even happened to some of his personal friends. He also recalls some of them declaring they would prefer suicide to having to live out the rest of their days in such a condition. With all this in mind, learning about the case of WWI veteran Joe Bonham was particularly upsetting to Paul, since Joe lost both legs, both arms, both eyes, both ears, mouth and nose in the line of combat. And even though Joe despaired at losing his senses, capacity for movement and overall independence, nobody would listen to his pleas to allow him to die, or those who were sympathetic were impotent to grant his wishes, leading to him sinking into madness. Joe was allowed a new lease on life in the Pantheon, but that horrifying experience was more than enough to get him to agree with Paul on the inhumanity of war, regardless of them being on opposite sides of the conflict (which certainly doesn't matter to them anymore, anyway).
  • Child Soldiers is also something Paul came across, especially towards the end of the war when Germany was getting desperate; way-too-young conscripts would get sent out with next-to-no training and more often than not, they'd get killed on their first combat situation. Whenever Paul saw them, he felt like he wanted to order them to go home, and that fatherly sentiment extends towards kids like Flyora, a 14-year-old who was once very eager to join the partisans and fight for his country, only to instead go on a haphazard journey of survival where he was almost entirely on his own, ultimately coming out of it alive but severely aged due to the stress and trauma. Additionally, Flyora saw many atrocities committed by the Germans against his people, which made Paul feel guilty despite it being impossible for him to have been there. Fortunately, Flyora realizes Paul had nothing to do with that and that he was just as much a victim of the mechanism of war as himself, so the Soviet boy welcomes the German as a friend and supports him working towards peace.
  • A rather unusual child soldier is Violet Evergarden, who actually made for a phenomenal warrior due to her fighting capabilities, however she permanently retired after losing both arms in combat. She can definitely relate to Paul in terms of struggling with adapting to civilian life, since war was all she knew since she was very young. Nowadays she works as a letter writer, trying to help people convey their feelings to their loved ones. She herself exchanges a lot of letters with Paul in which they talk about their feelings about living in war and then peace, and Paul finds her writing so heartfelt that he might have developed an infatuation for her, albeit not one that he ever intends to act on, believing he's currently still too broken for such things. Nevertheless, he considers her letters a balm for the soul.
  • Paul is in the habit of getting into contact with other assorted war veterans who developed trauma or a general aversion to war to share stories and bond over their experiences, which he then uses as basis for his pro-peace rhetoric. These include Niko Bellic, who participated in the Bosnian and Yugoslav Wars and is looking to start a new life, but despite his tough demeanor still can't help but be haunted by his experiences. A stranger one is Peppino Spaghetti, an otherwise comical figure whose career as a soldier is very dubious, but definitely feels as much contempt for war as Paul. There's also the curious case of Martin Walker, whose story went differently depending on the timeline, but the gist of it is that his desire to be a hero could cause him to go down a very dark path, and his happier ending is choosing to put down his weapons and go home. Fortunately for Paul's cause, the latter one is the one who was defied, but being aware of the other path he could have taken, he definitely agrees with Paul's vouching for peace and that nothing good comes from war, certainly no heroes.
  • When it comes to those soldiers who don't clamor for peace and in fact are quite comfortable living in a state of constant danger, it's not like all of them will look down on Paul as weak or something like that. An example of such soldiers that are friendly enough with Paul are John Captain and Steve, who live through their apocalyptic setting with a lackadaisical attitude and cracking crude jokes all the while. Paul saw enough of this sort of attitude among his comrades, and personally engaged in it as well, to suspect that John Captain and Steve do it to cope with their miserable conditions, but he's not about to openly psychologize them, since he realizes that would be arrogant of him.
