Undoubtedly part of the reason for the success of Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger in their heyday - just like Steve Reeves, Reg Park and the other bodybuilders turned stars of Hercules and other Italian sword and sandal flicks who inspired them. This continues with their successors Vin Diesel and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
The late Burt Lancaster, a former circus acrobat before he took up acting, was one of Hollywood's earliest examples.
Think the Andy Sidaris collection is all about BBB, or Bullets, Bombs, and Babes/Boobs? His films also have no shortage of buff men (including a man called Buff) walking around shirtless, or with open shirts, vests, or jackets.
Rob Lowe's nude scenes in Youngblood, About Last Night and Masquerade.
It's difficult to find a film in which Jason Statham appears and doesn't take his shirt off at some point. The Transporter includes three (count 'em, three!) shirtless scenes.
Jean-Claude Van Damme, full stop. He must have a contract stipulation that states he must show his bare ass at least once in every movie he's in, and he spends a good amount of combined time shirtless.
Pedro Infante spent quite a few scenes in his films shirtless.
There was also Bruce Lee, the supreme Martial Arts film star with a sculpted adonis of a body that could wow any woman with his compact musclebound perfection.
Post-High School MusicalZac Efron. Shirtless in every film since, including nude scenes in three films to date (with possibly inadvertent frontal in one).
28 Hotel Rooms: The man is quite handsome and spends much of the film shirtless or having sex with the woman. He also shows frontal nudity at one point.
Justin Hartley as Ty, as one of the Santa male entertainers who Carla falls for.
Also, Ty's suggestive dance for Carla at the end.
In Beyond the Lights, Kaz (Nate Parker) spends an awful lot of time sans shirt. On one occasion he ups the swoon factor even further by removing the garment (which just so happens to be WHITE!) specifically to use as a towel to clean the blood off Noni's hand after she injures it by smashing posters of herself during a breakdown. AWWWW!
In the first film, both (trim and muscular) McManus brothers are seen shirtless when they awaken from the vision/dream.
In the second film, Connor and Murphy get an outdoor shower scene.
Casino Royale (2006) is just chock full of naked, shirtless and tiny-swimsuit-wearing Daniel Craig. The scene to the right was pure dumb luck due to where they were shooting (the water was too shallow so Craig couldn't swim and had to stand up). The director decided to Throw It In! and Craig proved he could live up to Bond's Mr. Fanservice status.
Dragonslayer: Peter MacNicol is shown fully nude, though only observed from behind.
Elysium: Matt Damon gets several opportunities to showcase the benefits of additional gym time. Not that anyone's complaining.
The Exception: Stefan Brandt, a handsome, muscular German officer who gets several sex scenes, played by Jai Courtney. There's even some Male Frontal Nudity.
Chris Evans in Fantastic Four (2005)... when his powers flared up while skiing and somehow turned a snowbank into a jacuzzi, would any straight woman, gay man, or bisexual have turned down that invite? And watching him awkwardly prance around naked afterwards...
Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy: Christian Grey, played by the well-toned Jamie Dornan, is often seen shirtless whenever he is alone with Anastasia and definitely fully-nude when having sex with her.
Friends with Benefits: If you were ever curious about what Justin Timberlake's bottom looks like, this film is eager to help you with that. His muscular torso also gets shown off several times.
Galaxy Quest lampshades this hilariously, along with many other tropes. During the fight with the giant rock-monster, Jason somehow manages to lose his shirt.
The Half-Breed: An example that was doubly unusual for the era both because the character was nearly nude and because the character was male. Douglas Fairbanks is shown standing on a rock and then diving into a river, wearing nothing but a loincloth.
Thranduil's tight shirts with slightly open collars wouldn't be notable in most films, but nobody shows skin in these. He also wears mostly mail armor, rather than the breastplates that most other characters have. He also has a somewhat exotic look: platinum blond hair paired with Lee Pace's famous dark eyebrows. It's all very tasteful, but you can tell that Thranduil revels in how attractive he is.
There is also a nice shot of Bard's chest when he pulls back his bow for the killing on shot on Smaug. As might be expected from an expert bowman, his pecs are chiseled.
Vincent Perez in Indochine spends most of his screen time staring vaguely past the camera with his open shirt flapping around his impressive pecs.
In the Cut: Malloy is a handsome, muscular man who's shirtless at length while having sex with Frannie.
The film Into the Wild. Emile Hirsch spends a significant part of the film in a state of close up shirtlessness.
Jason's Lyric: (Probably) Allen Payne's most memorable Fanservice performance; as Jason Alexander who is often seen from simply shirtless to fully-nude when having sex with Lyric.
Thor from the 2010 film Kaboom is nothing but a Mr. Fanservice.
Paul Bettany as Geoffrey Chaucer in A Knight's Tale. Spends his entire very memorable introduction sequence (several minutes long) completely naked and in desperate need of a scrubbing. He's naked again not long after that.
Trent, the male protagonist of Lawn Dogs, has several shirtless scenes, wears shirts with varying numbers of buttons undone, and has a full nude scene near the beginning of the film for good measure. Not to mention all the sweat he works up.
The Little Hours: Handsome young Masseto spends most of the movie in different states of undress. In-Universe, several of the nuns immediately start trying to have sex with him. Even an entire coven of witches.
Love Is Not Perfect: Marco is a very handsome, muscular man who's often in shirtless scenes and does a striptease for Elena. He claims initially to be a male model, which is convincing.
Lycan: Blake and Irving are handsome, muscular young men. Both have lengthy scenes where they take off their shirts.
Magic Mike is a film about male strippers. The Powers that Be were aware of this, as one of the bonus features of the DVD was all of the stripping scenes strung together without any of that pesky dialogue or plot getting in the way.
In Maleficent, Diaval is naked when he is first turned from raven to human. He later wears rather loose shirts that are open — allegedly the intended effect was to make him look like a pirate, but he does show a lot of bare skin, too.
In Captain America: The First Avenger — including in-universe: When he first comes out of the chamber that buffs him up, Agent Carter can't resist reaching out and touching his newly-incredible bare chest◊ for a moment. Also meta since her actress was overcome by the moment and they got some Enforced Method Acting for nothing. There's also a nurse in the background who holds out a shirt for Steve, gets a second look at him, then puts the shirt away. She is a true American hero.
Steve also sporadically evokes this in the sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier — that tight T-shirt (and later on, the white tank top) really shows off those muscles...
Hell, his Captain America uniform is designed specifically to show off his beefy pecs, as seen here◊.
The helicopter scene in Captain America: Civil War was shot in such a way that his biceps were displayed in their full glory, something which Evans would later make fun of.
This gets lampshaded in Avengers: Endgame, as several people, including Steve himself refer to his ass as "America's Ass".
Bucky Barnes himself is not all that bad either, being played by Sebastian Stan and whatnot. He spends nearly all his screentime in very tight clothing and has a shirtless scene (though said scene is Fan Disservice) and some shots tend to focus on his legs. Being a major woobie with a Dark and Troubled Past helps ramp it up.
Having Chris Hemsworth walk on-camera without his shirt in Thor didn't accomplish anything except for a very happy Darcy to note he's pretty ripped for a hobo. His shirtless scene in Thor: The Dark World is just as gratuitous, probably much more so. Even Chris Hemsworth asked why it was included. He gets yet another shirtless scene during Age of Ultron, making the first Avengers the only film Thor's been in, for more than a cameo, that didn't show his body (too much). Hemsworth continues his shirtless streak in Thor: Ragnarok as well.
Stephen Strange is shirtless for no apparent reason when he shaves off his Beard of Sorrow. Mordo's tank tops during the training sequences also give Chiwetel Ejiofor an excuse to show off his biceps.
Black Panther is loaded with these. T'Challa fights shirtless twice, while Killmonger turns into a Walking Shirtless Scene for the last half hour.
Spider-Man: Homecoming has a quick scene of Peter changing into the Spider-Man suit, and then a longer when he changes out where he's only wearing his boxers for most of it.
Spider-Man: Far From Home features a very brief shot of Peter changing into his Spider-Suit with Michelle turned away, although she slowly takes a peek.
The Mission: Impossible Film Series has Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt. The guy has a shirtless scene in basically every installment, and remains its most prominent eye candy, despite the series having run for more than twenty years, and Cruise rapidly approachinghis mid-fifties.
In The Mummy and The Mummy Returns, Oded Fehr's character Ardeth Bay acts as fanservice with fighting scenes and an alluring accent. To some extent most of the male cast, including Imhotep... once he is less corpse and all man.
Teddy from Neighbors, natch, when you're played by Zac Efron, you're automatically this. It also helps him get a post-college career at Abercrombie & Fitch, and there's a prolonged Shirtless Scene at the end that seems to say "Thanks for watching, ladies, and now: here's the reason you bought a ticket."
Never Cry Wolf: Tyler spends a pretty long scene wearing nothing but his glasses and boots, and there are some full-body shots of him with no Scenery Censor at play.
The Outsiders is FULL of this. It has a bunch of guys who are usually wearing tight shirts or even no shirts. There's even a scene where Rob Lowe comes out of the shower wearing only a towel. Later, he's laying on the couch with his knees up so it looks like he's naked.
Passengers (2016): Chris Pratt is seen in various states of undress in some of his scenes, which show his muscular torso.
The 2003 adaptation of Peter Pan might be the most egregious example on this list. As soon as Peter shows up it's non-stop, maximum-strength teen girl fanservice.
Pretty much the entire male cast of Pirates of the Caribbean, excepting perhaps some of the minor characters.
Point Break (1991)Keanu Reeves in spades. The film starts him in the rain wearing a tight t-shirt, which is a trend that continues into the rest of the film. There's also a scene in bed where he's fully naked with a blanket barely covering his privates.
Tom Cruise again as Stacee Jaxx in Rock of Ages, Walking Shirtless Scene extraordinaire, with rocker tatts, long hair and a decent singing voice to boot.
While his appearance is not clarified, it seems that if you are looking for an actor to play Romeo from Romeo and Juliet, one of the golden rules is that the actor must be attractive.
In the 1968 adaptation, he is played by a very young and handsome Leonard Whiting, who's shown fully nude after nuptials with Juliet when he gets out of bed. Also ditto for the 1996 version, with Leonardo DiCaprio. Others include Douglas Booth, Leslie Howard, Orlando Bloom and Laurence Harvey (the latter three were not very young when they played the part, but that doesn't mean they weren't easy on the eyes, either).
Garrett Dillahunt (Hogan) in The Scribbler, In-Universe. Not only does he have many shirtless scenes, but as the only guy in an otherwise all-female psychiatric halfway house, he's more than happy to sexually service his fellow inmates.
She-Devil features A. Martinez as a surly and shirtless manservant.
She's Gotta Have It: Jamie is a handsome man, whose muscular torso's shown frequently while having sex with Nola.
Shoot 'Em Up: Clive Owen naked having sex and shooting things.
In The Show, Robin (John Gilbert) is definitely this In-Universe, as much of Robin's stage act consists of him and the ladies in the audience exchanging winks and lascivious glances. At the end, after one woman in the audience remarks that Salome the actress hid him in her apartment for weeks (he was a murder suspect), another woman says "Why not?"
Tango & Cash: Despite heavily targeting a male demographic, seeing the backsides of Stallone and Russell in the shower scene likely helped many a girlfriend sit through this film.
Terminator Salvation. Not only can Marcus not keep his shirt on, but Ahnold shows up as the T-800 at the climax. Naked.
Top Gun features an extended scene where the cast (Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer at peak l986 sex appeal) get shirtless and play beach volleyball, for no better reason than to show off some sweaty, sculpted bodies gleaming in sunlight.
Velvet Goldmine features young Ewan McGregor, young Christian Bale and young Jonathan Rhys Meyers. Shirtlessness, full nudity (Ewan, of course), and man-on-man makeout sessions abound.
Virgin Territory: Lorenzo is a very handsome young man who's often seen shirtless. The nuns find him appealing enough, apparently, that he's able to sleep with four without really doing anything.
The Voyeurs: Sebastian is a handsome man who's basically a Walking Shirtless Scene, since he spends about half the film with his shirt off, showing his muscles (in some cases while having sex too).
In The Wedding Date, Dermont Mulroney as Nick Mercer, a male escort who hired by Kat Ellis (Debra Messing) to pose as her boyfriend. He has no problem about taking a shower in front of her.
Chris Evans basically spent much of What's Your Number? naked or at least in various states of undress.
