  • In life, Manuel "Manny" Calavera committed a crime or several severe enough that when he ended up in the (Mayan) afterlife, he had to work his time off to the powers that be. Thus, he became a reaper — a travel agent psychopomp whose job was to give his clients different ways to cross the Land of the Dead safely, the best method being a train called the Number Nine, which shoots riders straight into the Ninth Underworld, the Mayan equivalent of Paradise. For a time, he was top of the heap, but then Manny started to get a long streak of bad, low-paying clients. When he finally had enough, he decided to steal a good commission from his rival, Domino Hurley. The client in question? A saint of a woman named Mercedes "Meche" Colomar. Unfortunately, this theft would turn out to be Manny's undoing. His ambition had gotten the best of him, leading to Meche not getting her deserved Number Nine (or Double-N) ticket, in turn forcing her to go through the very dangerous Land of the Dead on foot.
    • However, it also led to Manny uncovering a web of corruption in the Department of Death. It turned out that some — if not more — of Manny's clients were destined for better things than going on foot after all, not unlike Meche. To set things straight, Manny went on a four-year journey of his own, helped along the way by an elemental spirit (or "demon") named Glottis (who ended up becoming his best friend) and a revolutionary group called the Lost Souls Alliance. In the end, it turned out that at the center of the corruption was a truly vile man named Hector Lemans, who plotted to literally buy his way into paradise. It took quite a bit of sweat, blood, and tears (metaphorical on Manny's part), but at last, Manny foiled Hector's plan, forcing the latter into a second death by Sprouting him (more on that later), and saved many innocent souls, even getting his own Number Nine ticket in the process.
    • One day, in the Ninth Underworld, Manny and Meche found a mysterious, golden door. Curious as to where it went, they opened it to find themselves...somewhere that neither of them could have expected. They soon realized that this was the Main House of a place called the Pantheon of Tropes. They were greeted by the good-aligned deities there, who noted that they were just looking for someone to represent Calacas. After they were escorted to the Court of the Gods, where much discussion took place, they were given the position. Manny had only this to say:
Manny: Huh. Well, I guess it was about time for another adventure.
    • Manny and Meche were more than a little surprised to find that they were able to view the folks in the Pantheon, who were varying degrees of "alive", as they would've if they themselves were still breathing. Manny explained to someone who asked that before the Pantheon, whenever souls (in the version of the afterlife he hailed from) visited the Land of the Living, everyone seemed...very off, like someone had cut out a bunch of pictures of people in magazines and the like and pasted them together haphazardly. Not here, though, it seemed; the theory is that the Pantheon is a sort of afterlife itself, or at least adjacent to multiple afterlives, being a realm of gods.
  • Soon after the two made themselves at home in their new temple, they decided to wander around the Pantheon and take in the sights. Not long after, they ended up finding the House of Travel. As they walked toward the door, a huge shadow fell over the both of them. Who should they find walking beside them but an enormous, orange, familiar face, Glottis! The elemental did a double-take when he realized he was walking next to his best friends and scooped them up into a big hug.
  • Manny and Meche were interested to learn of other versions of the afterlife they know from fellow calacas such as Héctor and Manolo Sanchez; . Of course, not all the calacas in the Pantheon are good people; namely, Ernesto de la Cruz and Chakal are nasty people that the two want nothing to do with, especially since the former tried to kill a child and the latter
  • Due to the process of Sprouting — causing fast-growing plants to painfully grow out of your bones and force you to live life all over again — Manny and Meche get a little nervous around flowers. Imagine their consternation when they learned that there were flowers in the Pantheon who could talk. It certainly didn't help that some of them, such as Flowey and Cagney, weren't as kind as they initially let on.
    • Due to how aggressive the pigeons back in the town of El Marrow could be, Manny is also a bit nervous around birds (especially, yes, pigeons). He tends to steer clear of the Hall of Birds for this reason.
Manny: If they all attacked at once, they could carry me off and I'd never be heard from again.
  • Having been a psychopomp for a time, Manny gets along with other non-evil psychopomps, such as the Reapers of the Bleach universe and the Soul Reapers of Lord Death's Academy.

  • Relationships between ascended characters go here with your chosen character, it goes something like this:
    • Allies: Members of the Pantheon that are allies, those that share the same values as them and would theoretically be friends with them.
    • Rivals: Members of the Pantheon that are rivals, people who may look at your character with suspicion or a challenge.
    • Enemies: Members of the Pantheon that are foes, those who would see your chosen character as a threat, either from their perspective or yours.
    • Additional Character Relationships: Members of the Pantheon that do not fit in various relationships (examples include Enemy Mine, Vitriolic Best Buds, Teeth-Clenched Teamwork, Headbutting Heroes, Friendly Enemy, Friendly Rival, Just Friends, etc.), allies, rivals, or enemies.
    • Partner: Defines a partnership with an ascended deity and Mon-type. (if any)
    • Feared by/Fears: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon notably fear or are feared by.
    • Respected by/Respects: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon respect or are respected by.
    • Opposed by/Opposes: Not necessarily the same as "Enemies", but this is used for any deity whom the members of the Pantheon directly oppose or are opposed by (basically the opposite of "Respects", "On Good Terms With", and/or "Commonality Connection") in terms of certain viewpoints, regardless of alignment.
    • Pitied by/Pities: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon feel pity for or are found pitiable by.
    • Conflicting Opinion: Sometimes, the Deities argue over specific themes and philosophies.
  • Add the Intro. The intro is made up of two trivia, the Ascension Text (or just the Ascension) and The Bio. Both are necessary, but which order you use for them may vary depending on the profile in question. It may be better for one profile to have The Bio first and the Ascension second or vice-versa, although for the most part, the order is irrelevant:
    • The Ascension Text: This is the story of how the character got into the Pantheon and/or was ascended. There are many ways for this to happen. They may be tricked into it or have simply wandered into the Pantheon, they may have had an already ascended character bring them in, they may already be in the Pantheon (via being another deity's Herald or sharing a trope) and got "promoted", or some combination of the above. Anything is possible in the Pantheon, so use your imagination, but try to incorporate their trope into the story, if possible.
    • The Bio: A brief synopsis of the character's backstory. No need for the character's entire life/production history, but just give enough that those who don't know the character can get an idea of how the character works.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Deities/Characters is 10-15 (15-20 for group profiles) at minimum to 20-25 (30 for group profiles) at maximum.
