Trope Pantheons Discussion

Go To

Welcome to the Trope Pantheons thread! Please read the rules:

    Rules
Rules. The following are not suggestions or tips, but things that have to be followed:
  • When writing a profile, take note of the following:
    • Gods cannot be followers or high priests for obvious reasons. The 'gods' have ascended meaning there is no need for said character to be a follower of another if they have ascended.
    • No hype profiles, please. 'Hype Profiles' are profiles that have been made out of ongoing events and have not been around for a long time. This creates 'hype' due to popularity and certain elements either through certain scenes, memes, dramatic acting or considered overly awesome. They are not bad tropes but building a portfolio solely for that is a bad idea, as they do not say a thing about representing the trope best (unless it's those trope concepts that they are trying to embody for a long time)
      • You can see one if the profile is only showing off how awesome they are or suddenly pushing how 'significant' they are thanks to the just very recent events rather than respecting the longstanding good representations of the trope. And usually having... minimum portfolio or flavor texts and being a bit too generalized or self-contained to events from within their home series instead of interacting with other Pantheon members.
  • When posting in the forum, take note of the following:
    • When you suggest a God, please explain why they fit the trope. Not everyone is going to understand just "X should be the God of Y because they exemplify the trope" off the bat, especially if they're unfamiliar with the work.
    • You must use the Trope Pantheons discussion thread in the forums if you wish to add a new deity, story, something else of importance to the Trope Pantheon canon, or reworking an existing deity (be it simply improving their existing profile or changing their title).
      • For new and reworked deities, 3 [tup] means the profile will have a one week waiting period.
      • For new and reworked deities, 4 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 5 [tup] is an automatic ascension for new and reworked deities.
      • Speaking of reworks, for anyone that wants to improve such profiles, they have to review the current trope the character(s) has and see if it still holds up or if there is a better rep for their trope.
    • For adding new Treasures to The Great Treasury or new Dominions to the Dominions, the following rules apply:
      • For new Treasures or Dominions, 3 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 4 [tup] is an automatic addition to the Great Treasury or Dominions.
    • Do not repost a profile in the forums more than twice in a day if noticeable changes have not been made in between. If a profile is posted a third time in a row without noticeable alterations, it will be downvoted. This is so spamming of no-effort profiles is less frequent and to prevent tropers from getting aggravated seeing the same profile over and over. The minimum acceptable change has to be a single flavour text.
    • The Pantheon is not a mouthpiece for you to voice your opinions on certain characters. You may like certain characters more than others, but do not make the mistake of making profiles for characters you like look like Character Shilling.
    • Tropers new to the Pantheon are barred from approving or downvoting profiles until they have ascended at least two profiles.
    • Do not include fan reception in any profiles. It has nothing to do with the character themselves and will create unnecessary conflict.
    • Write a detailed explanation on why the character is the best candidate for deity of that trope. If people disagree with you, do not force it on the people.
    • Keep in mind that if you still want to try to find a trope for a particular character, you are only given three chances to find a particular trope for them. If a suggestion goes past three possible tropes, then it will come off as shoehorning a character into the Pantheon just for the sake of that character to be there.
      • On a related note, even if a character does have a free trope being suggested, there is still a limit of three attempts for suggesting that character for that trope. If no one responds to that certain proposal after being posted three times, then it will get to the point where the idea will be seen as being shoehorned into the Pantheon. In addition, the idea needs to be considered acceptable and approved because they are good, not for the sake of pitying others because no one is responding to their idea.
  • When posting Pantheon related stuff to the wiki, take note of the following:
    • Do not put a link to these Pantheon pages into the main wiki page. The moment you want to add in a main Characters page that the character is a God of this trope, do not do it. If you see leftovers of this practice, inform the forum and use the cutlist. This also goes to the Trivia page. The only exception to this rule is if a page in the Pantheon could be confused for a page in Main, like Good Colors, Evil Colors and Good and Evil Colors.
    • Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment ALSO applies here. Do not bring things that would incite fights, even if it is what is currently the hot topic and might be 'urgent'. For example, the political scene and some really bad politicians. We are not here to fight at each other, so don't suggest things that go to that direction, this is a fictional Pantheon after all.
    • To add a Pantheon page for a certain work, 4 or more characters coming from the same series/franchise should be ascended before adding the page. For Creator specific pages, 4 deities coming from the same creator and 2 individual work pages coming from the same creator is the minimum to warrant a page.
    • Do not create a trope page for a story until the story is fully completed.

    Instructions and Tips
Here are some tips one should keep in mind when editing:

  • Preparing to write:
    • First thing to do before present a profile is to go to the Trope Pantheons discussion thread. In the forums, you must discuss with other users on adding ideas and seek their approval with sound reasoning. You can also get some assistance in the forum thread by either asking for help and those interested asking if they can help. Submissions that are added without discussion are likely to be deleted and those who violate those rules by adding Pantheon content without discussion will get reported to the mods.
    • If you feel the need to remove a character for some reason (poor quality, outdated titles, etcetera) and replace him/her with another or outright rework, please see what the other tropers think about this in the discussion thread before doing anything hasty. Use good reasoning to see if your idea can easily replace the character present without drawing out your statement or giving too ambiguous claims most do not understand.
    • Please be sure to consult others in the discussion about what you want to work before making the profile. This is done to see if your proposal is the best representative and so, in case your profile is turned down, you do not waste time writing something that others might not find suitable.
      • In the same vein, if you adopt a profile from another troper, it is recommended that you make an announcement that you have done so on the discussion thread. More often than not, a trope that was reserved for something was given away to someone else. Check the Related tab on the top of a page to see if a trope or character has been reserved by a user.
    • If, for whatever reason, you are writing about a God who just happens to be a person in real life, just try to be very careful about what you decide to say. Do not try to make the editing seem too meta (self-referential) and use the aformentioned creativity to create hypothetical scenarios towards fictional characters.
  • When writing a profile for a character, here are a few things to note:
    • All deities should be sorted by their divine ranking. Put Overdeities on the top of the page and Quasideities on the bottom. Also be sure to add them in alphabetical order by their first/given name (can be reversed if it is Eastern ordered). For a group, if there is no official name for them all list down all their names by order of relevance or (if too long to list) title them as Insert Name Here Main Characters or some other identifiable title along the same lines.
    • The maximum number of tropes that a god can have is two, but do not try to abuse that fact. If you need to use a second trope to specify a certain thing about their position, that can be excused either because said character represents their trope choice very well alongside the first trope. It is still generally encouraged to only have one trope.
    • A trope can only belong to one profile at a time. The only time two profiles can share a trope is if there are explicit variations listed in the trope page proper (e.g. Muscle Angst is held by both Biscuit Krueger and Chihiro Fujisaki as the former represents "Too Much Muscle" and the latter represents "Not Enough Muscle")
    • If the character you are about to add to a House already exists in another, make sure to mention that this person has spots in other House as well. Up to 2 places can be made for a deity, with the sole exceptions being those at the Main House to highlight those characters’ importance to the Pantheon’s lore.
    • For a character's theme song, try to avoid calling it "Theme of God X" or "Theme of (Show where God X originates from)". If possible, try to find out if the song has an actual name through research. Most importantly, it has to be part their series’ official soundtracks from media. Do not list songs that are made by fans or outside sources. If they were not specifically used as music for that specific character, then they do not count. Furthermore, it has to be a general theme specifically made for that characters’ appearances, not some generic music that plays for many other instances not related to the character in question.
    • For images, when adding an image for your chosen character, it is highly recommended to use a stylized image that embodies the character or renders that also highlights a character’s behavior (such as cool poses). Most images should be from the main adaptations of the character, unless the images from the other media are of a higher quality than the adaptation. Unless it is needed, do not use fanart for images. If you are, please attribute to the original artist. Due to the website’s dark mode, removing white backgrounds from an image is paramount. This website is suggested to do the background removal. If an image you have takes up too much bytes, it is suggestible to use this site to reduce the byte size. If the byte is still too big, put the compressed image to other sites (or even the same one) to compress even further. Use wikias to look for better images, as even wikias for the series might not contain good official images.
    • Creativity is your friend. While it is not recommended to get too ditzy at your ideas, it is best that when writing a profile for a certain character, do you think of capable scenarios between X and Y. Tip: do not use shallow examples (X wields a sword and Y wields one too) and try to think of relationships that makes sense (i.e those characters that are shout-outs for another).
  • Pantheon Content:
    • Some series or genres will eventually have greater representation in the Pantheon than others. This is unavoidable, but a little diversity helps to make you not look like a shill per say. Try to ensure that if you add a deity from a popular series, make sure that it is because they are a good representative for the trope in question, and not just because they are connected to another deity in their respective canon.
      • As far as deities from actual mythologies, there is generally expectation to build the profiles off interactions from fictional portrays rather than basing it entire from the actual myth. Therefore, a mythological deity should be more of a Composite Character whose main identity is from the actual myth.
    • Occasionally there will be Gods that carry a title without a trope. This is not forbidden, but it is well advised not to abuse them. The only house that a tropeless profile are wholly allowed is the House of Food. Mainly due to most food items lacking tropes, and adding tropes about said foodstuffs is slightly unnecessary. However, the character being ascended for their choice of a food, or food-related thing must be a decently good representative of said item. (i.e their Trademark Favorite Food, or something that they are closely associated with In-Universe, or both).
    • For Dominions and Treasures profiles, always consider what made those places/objects popular in the first place. Were they plot-important, identifiable imagery or have a unique aspect of it? Do not just bring regular objects under the basis of following a certain canon.
  • For Profile Standards:
    • Flavor text is used to describe certain things about a character, place or object. To avoid short ones, it is recommended to write flavor text with 4-7 sentences that can fill around 2 lines each. Be warned that adding too many sentences does not equal good flavor text as it is not an essay of sorts (unless words are substantial and do add to the overall line).
    • Character Profiles of a certain person should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 7 (at the minimum) tropes describing their character.
      • Flavor text count for a deity profile should have by minimum, 10 (depending if the character in question has enough relationships/characterization) to 15 with a maximum of 20-25 for an individual profile.
      • On the other hand, group profiles (profiles of a group that has 4 or more members) have their maximum flavor text count to 15 minimum, giving individual lines for the other members of the group (unless the members are not as characterized) up to 30 at max.
    • Dominion profiles of a certain place should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 5 (at the minimum) tropes describing the context of the place.
      • Flavor text count should range at least 10 to 15.
    • Treasure profiles (inanimate objects without a trope) should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 6 (at the minimum) tropes that describes the object itself.
      • Flavor text count should be at least 7 flavor text up to 12 to constitute a treasure profile.

    Divine Ranking System
  • Overdeity: Omnipotent-level Reality Warpers capable of manipulating the entire universe (or at least the world) at will. Within their own universe they are believed to be omnipotent, or at least impossible-to-completely-destroy embodiments or concepts.
  • Greater Gods: High-level Reality Warpers and that are extremely powerful (capable of destroying or changing anywhere from a large city to a planet at will) and very strong non-reality warpers capable of doing the same thing.
  • Intermediate Gods: Deities at this level are capable of strong but specialized powers such as hydrokinesis, pyrokinesis, etc. without major drawbacks and low level Reality Warpers capable of affecting their immediate area at will.
  • Lesser Gods: Capable of highly specific or little power on their own, or suffer from Power at a Price. However, they may be able to ruthlessly exploit their power or combine it with just being badass enough to make up for it.
  • Demigods: Basically the Badass Normals of the pantheon, making up for their lack of abilities with strength, strategy, and/or planning.
  • Quasideities: Any otherwise normal human, human equivalent, or below without any special powers or training will fall here.

    Templates
Template for adding a new deity:

God X, God/dess of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Rank: This can range from Quasideity, Demigod, Lesser God, Intermediate God, Greater God, to Overdeity, based on representation of power mentioned above.
  • Symbol: An image or icon used to represent the deity.
  • Theme Song: Official song (in other words, no fan music, regardless of quality) that usually is used in affiliation with the character. If the deity is a musician this will most likely be their Signature Song. If possible, give a link for reference, preferably on either a website like Soundcloud or YouTube.
  • Alignment: Good, evil, neutral etc. Forget about The Great Character Alignment Debate here, the Pantheon is one of the few places where you can assign Dungeons & Dragons alignment to characters that don't have alignment system. After all, the Pantheon is based on D&D and is made for fun.
  • For Pokémon deities only:
    • Gender: Defines the gender of the Pokémon; if genderless, it instead defines what gender they identify as.
    • Ability: Provides the Pokémon's ability. If they can Mega Evolve, the new ability is listed as well.
    • Moves: Defines the four moves used by a Pokémon. A Z-Move may also be listed.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the character.
  • Domains: Things that the character has influence over.
  • Herald: Non-ascended loyal character that is from the same series as the ascended character.
  • High Priest: Non-ascended like heralds, but not from the same series, and can serve as a worthy replacement in case something would happen. They can be served as part-time workers in case the originals are busy with some jobs. Co-Godhood is accepted depending on the approval of the originals, usually if the co-deity is from the same series.
  • Followers: Non-ascended characters that are not part of the Pantheon, but would probably worship this character by the fact that they share the ascended character's trope.
  • Relationships between ascended characters go here with your chosen character, it goes something like this:
    • Allies: Members of the Pantheon that are allies, those that share the same values as them and would theoretically be friends with them.
    • Rivals: Members of the Pantheon that are rivals, people who may look at your character with suspicion or a challenge.
    • Enemies: Members of the Pantheon that are foes, those who would see your chosen character as a threat, either on their pespective or yours.
    • Additional Character Relationships: Members of the Pantheon that do not fit in various relationships (examples include Enemy Mine, Vitriolic Best Buds, Teeth-Clenched Teamwork, Headbutting Heroes, Friendly Enemy, Friendly Rival, Just Friends, etc.), allies, rivals, or enemies.
    • Partner: Defines a partnership with an ascended deity and Mon-type. (if any)
    • Feared by/Fears: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon notably fear or are feared by.
    • Respected by/Respects: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon respect or are respected by.
    • Opposed by/Opposes: Not necessarily the same as "Enemies", but this is used for any deity whom the members of the Pantheon directly opposes or is opposed by (basically the opposite of "Respects") terms of certain viewpoints, regardless of alignment.
    • Pitied by/Pities: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon feel pity for or are found pitiable by.
    • Conflicting Opinion: Sometimes, the Deities argue over specific themes and philosophies.
  • Add the Intro. The intro is made up of two trivia, the Ascension Text (or just the Ascension) and The Bio. Both are necessary, but which order you use for them may vary depending on the profile in question. It may be better for one profile to have The Bio first and the Ascension second or vice-versa, although for the most part the order is irrelevant:
    • The Ascension Text: This the story of how the character got into the Pantheon and/or was ascended. There are many ways for this to happen. They may be tricked into it or have simply wandered into the Pantheon, they may have had an already ascended character bring them in, they may already be in the Pantheon (via being another deity's Herald or sharing a trope) and got "promoted", or some combination of the above. Anything is possible in the Pantheon, so use your imagination, but try to incorporate their trope into the story, if possible.
    • The Bio: A brief synopsis on the character's backstory. No need for the character's entire life/production history, but just give enough that those who don't know the character can get an idea of how the character works.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Deities/Characters is 10-15 (15-20 for group profiles) at minimum to 20-25 (30 for group profiles) at maximum.

Template for Dominions profiles:

Place X, Place of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Alignment: Refers to the dominion's role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the dominion.
  • Domains: Things that the place has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the location has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as where the dominion is linked to, note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said dominion, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Dominion is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Dominions is 10 at minimum to 15 at maximum.

Template for Treasure profiles:

The name of the item in here (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Appearance: A shortened description of the item's looks with some notable features also mentioned.
  • Class: Refer to the Treasure Classification System in the Great Treasury.
  • Alignment: Refers to the objects' role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Museum Check: A note that says whether the item is viewable by the public.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the item.
  • Domains: Things that the item has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the item has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as where the item is linked to (especially the original owner of the item), note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said object, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Treasure is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Treasures is 7 at minimum to 12 at maximum.

Can I be an ideas person? As much as a blast making pages sound, I'm busy with life at the moment to work on that stuff. I can share ideas though. Is that ok?

[up] You can make a sandbox like Ponymations and put your ideas there, perhaps someone would adopt one of them and work on it themselves. Generally, you're expected to work on your own ideas, but I understand if you're too busy to write them for now. Just don't tell others to do the work for you, that kind of behavior is frowned upon in this project.

Hello. I barely participated in the pantheon before, but I was wondering if I can add a 4th image to the Cronus profile (in Pantheon.Divine Roles and Pantheon.Flesh Eaters). The image in question is from Class of the Titans. Seeing as there are already three other imagesnote , I assume this would be OK?

I'm currently torn between two images (which will be shrunk when put into the entry):

A couple ideas I had for reworking a couple lackluster profiles:

  • Screwy Squirrel (Screwball Squirrel): The title character in a series of classic shorts, Screwy (or Screwball) is an unhinged squirrel that likes to prank others for his own amusement.
  • R.O.B. (Console Cameo): He originally had The Great Video Game Crash of 1983 due to him being released during that time frame and was marketed as a toy that later played a role in reviving the console market. That said, I think Console Cameo could work for R.O.B. as while he only appeared to two games that were compatible with the NES, he's made frequent cameo appearances in later Nintendo games.

Thank you for letting me know. I used the caption "Him in modern garb".

Just out of curiosity, is there any clear authority that I should refer to in Pantheon issues? If so, who might they be? Or is it almost completely decentralized? I ask this because I want to know who I should trust in getting approval in this kind of stuff.

Uranus as seen by the Voyager 2 probe
  • Hall: Astronomical Bodies (Dominions Expansion)
  • Description: An icy gas giant about 14.5 times more massive than Earth, with dark, nearly invisible rings
  • Symbol: A circle with a dot in the center and an arrow pointing upwards from the top of said circle
  • Moons: At least 27, with five spherical moons-Miranda, Ariel, Umbriel, Titania and Oberon
  • Related dominions: Earth, Mars (fellow planets of The Solar System)
  • Theme Song: Uranus, by Gustav Holst
  • Alignment: True Neutral
  • Portfolio: Celestial Fodder For Toilet Humor, Monumentally Massive Atmosphere, Made of Hydrogen, Helium and Methane Gases, Religious and Mythological Theme Naming
  • Domains: Gas, Ice, The Outer Solar System, Gravity, Astronomy, Toilet Humor

  • Sacred to: Ouranos, Haruka Tenoh, The Talking Toilets
  • Unholy to: Captain Underpants, Gaea, Cronus
  • During the 18th century, astronomers observed that the orbit of Saturn didn't behave as predicted. There was a theory that this was because of a yet-unknown planet's gravity impacting it. On March 13, 1781, William Herschel proved this theory and identified a planet orbiting between 2.7 and 3 billion kilometers from the Sun. This seventh planet would be named after the Greek primordial of the sky; Uranus. It turned out to be one of two "ice giants" alongside the eighth planet, Neptune; cold gas giants not quite as huge as Jupiter or Saturn, but still substantially more massive than the Earth and with a lot more "ices" than the first two gas giants. It is tilted at just over a 90 degree angle, causing one side to face the Sun for half its 84 year-long orbit.
  • The planet has become the buttnote  of many a jokes, due to its common pronunciation of Ur-an-us being similar to "your anus". Having a noticeable amount of methane has only made it easier to crack jokes. Yoor-in-us is an alternative, but given that's similar to "urine"...yeah. They tried to end the joke in 2620 by renaming it Urectum, though if you remove the "u" it becomes even easier to make jokes out of. Even Shepard couldn't resist probing it. The Hall of Jokes and Pranks commissioned a satellite to observe it. The Hall of Scientists and Geniuses demanded that they send probes to study it and its moons as well, since they want scientific study of the bodynote . They were fine with the name "Protocologist I", though.
  • People have dared Galactus into trying to eat Uranus, only for him to always ignore them since it's just down to wanting to make a lewd joke. Unicron, in spite of hating absolutely everything, is still above destroying Uranus because he's loathe to also be the subject of a lewd joke. The only one willing to eat it was the ambiguously sentient Planet Remina, who been going from farthest to closest planet on its feast of the Solar System. And it went and ate Uranus a second time before it could be forced out of the . Fortunately there was a spare incarnation of the planet to replace it.
  • Why name it something that can be made fun of? Jupiter comes from Jove, king of the gods. Saturn comes from Saturnus, Jove's father. And Uranus (or Ouranus as he prefers to be called here) is the father of Cronus (the Greek equivalent of Saturnus), and a right asshole in his own right. It's unclear why, like all the other planets asides from Earth, it wasn't named after the Roman version Caelus, though most agree it was a good call not naming it George's Star. The primordial god has declared it under his lordship and plots to regain dominion over the Earth from it. Being a lot bigger than the Earth, it has the benefit of preventing an infuriated Gaea from going after her ex-consort.
    • Due to how much he hates his father, Cronus is one of the only people willing to destroy Uranus (and keep it that way).
  • The primordial's ambitions have been hampered as Haruka Tenoh or Sailor Uranus was already up as the planet's guardian and representative, which has only fueled conflict between the two. Fortunately for the primordial the planet was the place the Turbo Toilet 2000 was condemned to. With an alliance to Ouranus, the ice giant is now a sanctuary to them where they can better plot revenge against Captain Underpants. They proceeded to rip off Robot Santa Claus by making a sweatshop and factory on Uranus' equator, which is functionally a massive Floating Continent protected from the harsh wind and extreme cold through a dome. When asked why not use Uranus' north pole, they admitted that the 97 degree tilt confused them to where "the top is".
  • The SCP Foundation decided that if she was there already, it might be in their best interest to inform Sailor Uranus of two SCPs found in the Uranian orbit; a large moon made entirely of skin cells that's habitable and appears to be alive, and large flower growths over the moon of Umbriel. The former is of keen interested to the Sarkic Cults as it has ties to their faith. The Chaos Gods are also interested in SCP-4524, if only because it's a huge mass of flesh they want to corrupt and turn into a Chaos Spawn. Because of this. The Imperium of Mankind has increased security over Uranus
  • Currently isn't inhabited by humans, but by the 853rd century it will be colonized by people and protected by Starman. Wally West was amused, but Kyle Rayner thinks Uranus jokes haven't been funny since the fourth grade. He doesn't care for jokes that E.T comes from there. The Green Lantern later gave Ron Weasely an advanced telescope construct so he can look at Uranus and get the joke out of his system, but it didn't. The planet does have a representative, and its valuable enough for aliens to take it over. Plus it's the larger producer of Helium-3 in Alliance space.
  • As they live in gas giants, the Slyandro consider Uranus a legitimate choice for colonization. Naturally, they'll have to give it a more dignified name when they do. These efforts were obstructed by the Grineer, who had gained a stranglehold on the planet and used it as a base for extensive research into cloning and reproduction. For a time, one Grineer scientist even learned how to bypass Clone Degeneration...however the Tenno sabotaged all that.
  • Bart Simpson disagrees with Kyle that Uranus isn't funnynote , and has decided to crank call the House of Extraterrestrials about it. Zim actually believed this crank call and went to the ice giant, only to get stuck there for weeks. Ever since then, he's declared vengeance on the prankster. He was most dissapointed at the lack of uranium as he was under the impression the planet had a lot rather than being what the element was named after, but he did get a bunch of diamond "rain". He hasn't figured out how valuable they'd be for the House of Commerce yet, though.
  • The Moons of Uranus are considerably harder to joke about in their nomenclature, as most are named after characters from the works of William Shakespeare. And before anyone tries to pester him, he isn't interested in any Frivolous Lawsuit about the naming...not that this didn't stop Lionel Hutz from claiming they should be his intellectual property. Oberon, Titania and Puck have declared ownership over the moons that carry their name, mainly for the sake of flexing and pomposity, however the first two also want colonies there to spread the reach of The Fair Folk.
    • Other gods have also been used to name Uranian moons. For a complete list of ascended deities who's name was used on a Uranian moon, they arenote  Ophelia, Juliet, Cupid, Puck, Medbnote , Titania and Oberon.

134340 Pluto, Celestial Butt-Monkey Of The Solar System (formerly Planet 9/Planet X/the ninth planet, Yuggoth, SCP-2362)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/800px_pluto_in_true_color___high_res.jpg
Pluto as seen from the New Horizons probe.
  • Description: An icy dwarf planet about 2/3rds the size of the Moon
  • Symbol: A stylized capital P
  • Alignment: True Neutral
  • Portfolio: Religious and Mythological Theme Naming, Pluto Is Expendable, Went From The Ninth Planet To One Of The Dwarf Planets
  • Domains: Cold And Ice, Dwarf Planets, The Outer Solar System
  • Related dominions: Earth, Mars, Uranus (closer bodies that orbit the same star as Pluto)
  • Sacred to: Setsuna Meioh, Hades, Nox (sort of), Charon, The Lernean Hydra, Cerberus, The Corpus
  • Banned entry: Cosmo, Vril Dox/Brainiac, any Planet Eater
  • On poor terms with: Jerry Smith
  • When Uranus was discovered, its orbit suggested an eighth planet causing gravitational influence. This was later confirmed with the discovery of Neptune, but something seemed to be influencing it's orbit. The hunt was on to look for the ninth planet, but instead in 1930 a far too small object was discovered by one Clyde Tombaugh; Pluto. For a time it was accepted as the ninth planet, but discovery of other Pluto-like objects led to its demotion to a new dwarf planet designation. Some still argue that it isn't fair. Cold enough for the air to freeze, Pluto
  • Because Pluto is a cold, tiny body at the edge of the solar system world enders like to use it as target practice. And given this is the Trope Pantheon, replacement Plutos are in demand. Cosmo once blew it up by accident with a button that'd destroy the worldnote  and Brainiac turned it into a new Warworld. Naturally, they aren't allowed entry to Pluto. The Borg were banned for assimilating it too. Later security ultimately was for naught since Pluto itself broke open and a massive space jellyfish hatched out...turns out at least in the SCP universe, Pluto was an egg.
  • Despite their goals the Grand United Alliance of Destruction doesn't try to use Pluto as target practice; they find it boring. Also, Nekron wants the end of all life specifically and there's usually nothing there, nor would it be a good candidate for a Black Lantern planet like the trick he pulled with Xanshi. Neptune's fair game, though. Galactus and Unicron are cool with eating it, but mainly as something for a hot day or as a dessert after having a full planet. Notably this was the first body Remina ate on its rampage, though only because it was going from farthest to closest body in the solar system during its world-devouring rampage.
  • Sailor Pluto wasn't pleased to hear that the world she guarded is no longer considered a planet, and protests the new definition of planets. Amusingly the new designation of dwarf planet upgrades a former asteroid, Ceres, into a dwarf planet. She was happy to learn that the New Horizons probe had finally snapped pictures, at least. Its discoverer, Clyde Tombaugh, would die before the demotion, and a small portion of his ashes was put on the New Horizons probe. Eventually the guy who demoted it went mad with power and the planet tried to get back in the planetary designation...for a price.
  • No, Pluto the dog had no influence in the naming. Because of how far and cold it was, it was named after god of the underworld Pluto. Aka Hades' Romanized version. Charon is the namesake of the moon half the size of Pluto, to the point of them being twin dwarf planets. Nix (based off Nox), Hydra and Kerberus (based off Cerberus) are names for Pluto's minor, more asteroid-like moons. Their opinion on being associated with the Pluto system ranges from apathy to disappointment. Naturally it's a very dark place, which is what Nox likes.
  • Because of how cold Pluto is (at most 55 Kelvin) and having ice make up a large part of its composition, the Hall of Ice and Cold holds some interest in studying it. It's possible that Olaf might be able to live on Pluto due to being made of ice and there being no proof he needs any atmosphere, though Elsa would definitely have to wear a spacesuit. Some believe that the Night King might want to set up a retirement there if he'd ever succeed at turning "Planetos" into a frozen grave, but it might be too cold for even the Others. It's not like he knows or cares much about extraterrestrial bodies anyway, but the question of what kind of power cryomancers might have on such a world is an ongoing question.
    • By contrast, no-one in the Hall of Fire and Heat likes Pluto because there's no oxygen and virtually no heat for fire. Aphoom-Zhah is the sole exception due to its properties and having landed on Neptune, which is almost as cold as Pluto.
  • One future has a Eurovision Song Contest on what world should be a gigantic rubbish dump, with Earth and Pluto being the last contestants. Guess who won. Hades could be heard laughing in one of his meaner forms as he wasn't pleased at his Romanized namesake being dumped on. That said, Pluto has made itself useful by being an important Mass Relay and spaceport, or a nature reserve, mainly for penguins. The Madagascar Penguins still don't think much of it.
  • Before its' discovery, H.P Lovecraft believed that it was an important outpost for the Mi-go. For those from the Cthulhu Mythos, they know it as Yuggoth. This is probably the most valuable incarnation of the dwarf planet and it's a source of some discussion among eldritch brethren. Hades has encouraged all this discusson in hopes of boosting interest on it, if only because he's annoyed of the Pluto Is Expendable jokes Zeus has made at his expense. He wants to cut off the Corpus' stranglehold of it since while cold and desolate, they're capitalists and their ventures in the name of profit takes them to all sorts of places.
  • It used to be a lot bigger before being exploited for its resources. Jerry was the only person who believed Pluto was still a planet, which was exploited by the rich elites draining the planet dry. Eventually he had to shame himself by denying Pluto is a planet so it wouldn't get destroyed, and due to the whole incident he still isn't welcome by the natives.

Done with this.

Mark Lewis, God of the Murderer P.O.V.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/peepingtomtvtp.png
  • Quasideity
  • Symbol: An eye looking out through a camera lens
  • Alignment: Reluctantly Chaotic Evil
  • Portfolio: Murderer P.O.V., Sympathetic Murderer, Reluctant Psycho, Camera Fiend, used as a test subject by his father, Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds
  • Domains: Murder, Insanity, Sadness, Love, Film
  • Allies: Norman Bates, Yoshikage Kira, Richter Berg, Frasier Crane
  • Enemies: Rev. Harry Powell, Lisbeth Salander
  • Unknown Rival: Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees
  • At first glance, Mark Lewis was just an innocuous and timid young man who worked as a photographer and cameraman. As his downstairs neighbor, Helen, pursued a relationship with him, Mark revealed his traumatic childhood by showing her the home movies made by his father, a psychologist who experimented on Mark in order to study the emotion of fear, which included filming rather private moments and recording every sound. This made Mark into a sick person with a penchant for voyeurism; at his worst, he's a serial killer who films his victims, wishing to capture the fear in their faces as the knife hidden in the tripod is driven into them. That said, these sinister inclinations are urges he can't control and he feels no joy in his deeds. His growing affection for Helen also made him afraid that she might fall prey to him eventually, so when she finally discovered the truth about Mark and the police were coming for him, he decided to put an end to it all by killing himself with his weapon of murder.
  • Mark was selected to join the Pantheon on the strength of him being the villain that served as a precursor to those that shaped the Slasher Movie into what it is today. Mark mostly feels confused and a little dismayed that he's being celebrated for his evil, and unlike so many other horror villains who also got ascended, he remains discreet in his murderous activities, only pursuing them when that insidious itch inside him overcomes his better judgment. The more benign and artistic part of him can't deny that he's filled with curiosity at a place as fantastical as the Pantheon, though.
  • Mark has a very different demeanor from the more famous slasher villains that came after him, such as Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees. Unlike them, he's unwilling to fully embrace the monster inside of him and keeps hanging on, with all his strength, to a productive life within civilized society. In fact, one could say he is the opposite of Michael Myers, who was absolutely vile even in his childhood and has no known justification for wanting to commit the crimes he does. Jason Voorhees, while every bit as dangerous as Michael, does have some extenuating circumstances to his name, since he was bullied as a child, saw his mother killed and never had the greatest intellect. Neither is very interested in paying respects to their precursor, looking at him as a rival instead, as they tend to do with any similar villain. Mark himself does his best not to engage them (although he feels some sympathy for Jason), partly because he knows he'd be lousy in a serious fight, especially against them. It's also bad enough that a lot of deities have him under scrutiny without associating himself in any way with those two.
  • A killer like him is going to have his criminal record be easily accessible in the Pantheon, whether he likes it or not, and because of that and his reluctance to associate with other killers, he has a hard time finding true allies. Nonetheless, he did find one in Norman Bates, on an occasion when Mark stayed at the Bates Motel for work reasons. The two were drawn to each other for their similar awkward personalities and had some amiable conversations in which Mark discovered Norman had a very similar background to him, having also been abused by his mother. Later that night, Mark felt the urge to procure a victim and brought her to the Bates Motel, whereupon he was found out by Norman, but instead of getting reported, Norman helped him dispose of the body, confessing he engaged in similar "hobbies" and he understood how Mark felt about them, given he harbors similar thoughts. Afterwards, the two could be considered best friends and often help each other in their killings when their urges strike them.
  • Yoshikage Kira extended him his sympathies for being a killer who does not wish to draw attention to himself and wants to live in normal society, a sentiment which Mark did welcome, as guarded as he is when he meets a fellow killer. When Yoshikage offered to support Mark in his activities, in exchange for Mark letting him have the victims' hands, Mark proposed instead that he do the killing himself while Yoshikage just use his alien (to him) method of murder to dispose of the bodies, as there can't be much fear to capture with his camera if the victim doesn't even know what's happening. Yoshikage finds that fair.
  • His victims are all women, particularly prostitutes as they are easy to gain access to and talk into going to a secluded place. His preference led to him being approached by the Reverend Harry Powell, who commended the younger man for doing his part in ridding the world of such creatures of sin, as he likes to put it, and asked him to join his holy crusade, saying the two of them together would be of more use to God than operating separately. Mark declined, saying he didn't at all think that women he killed deserved it or that he shared Powell's view, adding that the truth is that both of them are just sick people in need of help or who needed to be stopped. Powell voiced his extreme disappointment that a promising youth had failed to see the light, and then tried to kill him, believing it would help put him on the righteous path somehow. Mark managed to escape the fight ensued, though Powell yelled after him that he would not give up in trying to convert him to his noble cause.
  • Despite everything, he (mystifyingly, in some's opinion) still enjoys some popularity among the Pantheon's female population, likely due to his status as a woobie, as well as his shyness and awkwardness, and being somewhat on the handsome side. This is far from a universal reaction though, as Mark is still a dangerous serial killer. For his part, Mark doesn't show interest in attempting to pursue any other romantic relationship, though, not after what almost happened with the one woman he fell in love with. Incidentally, when Mark was told Helen would probably love to be his Herald and know he's safe and sound, he had a burst of emotion and was vehemently averse to the idea, saying that he didn't want to risk capturing her with his camera and harming her ever again.
  • The vigilante hacker Lisbeth Salander keeps Mark under constant surveillance, as she does with every killer of women that gets ascended. Lisbeth is the ruthless sort of person who does not put much stock in sympathetic tragic backgrounds, and she claims that Mark is no exception, especially as he did try to seek help for his condition, only to give up immediately when he found out the process would take very long, so Lisbeth has her doubts that his conscience bothers him as much as he claims. That said, even she seems to go easier on him than other killers when it comes to punishing him. When this was pointed out to her, she answered that people were imagining things, although some speculate that, with his shy, mild-mannered and remorseful attitude, perhaps she pities him too much to give him the full Salander treatment after all.
  • Good news is, Mark is picking up where he left off in a way, by seeking help for his condition, a prospect that seems more appealing to him now that, as a deity, he has nothing but time on his hands and stands to lose next to nothing. That said, he also has to take extra care with his choice, as certain therapists are as or even more unhinged than he is. The most brilliant of the psychologists in the Pantheon is probably Hannibal Lecter, but he is also every bit a cannibalistic psycho many times worse than Mark could ever be, so it would be quite foolish to seek his council; Mark fears he might become more comfortable with his evil side thanks to him, or something similar. He's figured out that his best bet probably lies in Frasier Crane, and the God of Shrinks is indeed very interested in the killer who doesn't want to be a killer. That said, he's also very hung on Freudian theory, making Mark uncomfortable that he tries to connect his fixations to his mother, whom he admittedly feels complicated about.
  • Richter Berg is an example of a killer who was forced into that activity by outside instead of internal forces, but he still finds himself having some sympathy for Mark, since it's so obvious that Mark wishes things weren't the way they are. Mark, for his part, thinks that perhaps being forced to kill by an outside force might rid him of some of the weight on his conscience, but then again, wanting to shirk responsibility for murder is an ugly thought to have. At any rate, he does think Richter's situation is quite tragic as he did the things he did to protect his mom, which makes Mark recall his own mother and how she died when she was very young, with his grief being recorded and trivialized by his father for the sake of scientific research.
