Trope Pantheons Discussion

Go To

Welcome to the Trope Pantheons thread! Please read the rules:

    Rules
Rules. The following are not suggestions or tips, but things that have to be followed:
  • When writing a profile, take note of the following:
    • Gods cannot be followers or high priests for obvious reasons. The 'gods' have ascended meaning there is no need for said character to be a follower of another if they have ascended.
    • No hype profiles, please. 'Hype Profiles' are profiles that have been made out of ongoing events and have not been around for a long time. This creates 'hype' due to popularity and certain elements either through certain scenes, memes, dramatic acting or considered overly awesome. They are not bad tropes but building a portfolio solely for that is a bad idea, as they do not say a thing about representing the trope best (unless it's those trope concepts that they are trying to embody for a long time)
      • You can see one if the profile is only showing off how awesome they are or suddenly pushing how 'significant' they are thanks to the just very recent events rather than respecting the longstanding good representations of the trope. And usually having... minimum portfolio or flavor texts and being a bit too generalized or self-contained to events from within their home series instead of interacting with other Pantheon members.
  • When posting in the forum, take note of the following:
    • When you suggest a God, please explain why they fit the trope. Not everyone is going to understand just "X should be the God of Y because they exemplify the trope" off the bat, especially if they're unfamiliar with the work.
    • You must use the Trope Pantheons discussion thread in the forums if you wish to add a new deity, story, something else of importance to the Trope Pantheon canon, or reworking an existing deity (be it simply improving their existing profile or changing their title).
      • For new and reworked deities, 3 [tup] means the profile will have a one week waiting period.
      • For new and reworked deities, 4 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 5 [tup] is an automatic ascension for new and reworked deities.
      • Speaking of reworks, for anyone that wants to improve such profiles, they have to review the current trope the character(s) has and see if it still holds up or if there is a better rep for their trope.
    • For adding new Treasures to The Great Treasury or new Dominions to the Dominions, the following rules apply:
      • For new Treasures or Dominions, 3 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 4 [tup] is an automatic addition to the Great Treasury or Dominions.
    • Do not repost a profile in the forums more than twice in a day if noticeable changes have not been made in between. If a profile is posted a third time in a row without noticeable alterations, it will be downvoted. This is so spamming of no-effort profiles is less frequent and to prevent tropers from getting aggravated seeing the same profile over and over. The minimum acceptable change has to be a single flavour text.
    • The Pantheon is not a mouthpiece for you to voice your opinions on certain characters. You may like certain characters more than others, but do not make the mistake of making profiles for characters you like look like Character Shilling.
    • Tropers new to the Pantheon are barred from approving or downvoting profiles until they have ascended at least two profiles.
    • Do not include fan reception in any profiles. It has nothing to do with the character themselves and will create unnecessary conflict.
    • Write a detailed explanation on why the character is the best candidate for deity of that trope. If people disagree with you, do not force it on the people.
    • Keep in mind that if you still want to try to find a trope for a particular character, you are only given three chances to find a particular trope for them. If a suggestion goes past three possible tropes, then it will come off as shoehorning a character into the Pantheon just for the sake of that character to be there.
      • On a related note, even if a character does have a free trope being suggested, there is still a limit of three attempts for suggesting that character for that trope. If no one responds to that certain proposal after being posted three times, then it will get to the point where the idea will be seen as being shoehorned into the Pantheon. In addition, the idea needs to be considered acceptable and approved because they are good, not for the sake of pitying others because no one is responding to their idea.
  • When posting Pantheon related stuff to the wiki, take note of the following:
    • Do not put a link to these Pantheon pages into the main wiki page. The moment you want to add in a main Characters page that the character is a God of this trope, do not do it. If you see leftovers of this practice, inform the forum and use the cutlist. This also goes to the Trivia page. The only exception to this rule is if a page in the Pantheon could be confused for a page in Main, like Good Colors, Evil Colors and Good and Evil Colors.
    • Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment ALSO applies here. Do not bring things that would incite fights, even if it is what is currently the hot topic and might be 'urgent'. For example, the political scene and some really bad politicians. We are not here to fight at each other, so don't suggest things that go to that direction, this is a fictional Pantheon after all.
    • To add a Pantheon page for a certain work, 4 or more characters coming from the same series/franchise should be ascended before adding the page. For Creator specific pages, 4 deities coming from the same creator and 2 individual work pages coming from the same creator is the minimum to warrant a page.
    • Do not create a trope page for a story until the story is fully completed.

    Instructions and Tips
Here are some tips one should keep in mind when editing:

  • Preparing to write:
    • First thing to do before present a profile is to go to the Trope Pantheons discussion thread. In the forums, you must discuss with other users on adding ideas and seek their approval with sound reasoning. You can also get some assistance in the forum thread by either asking for help and those interested asking if they can help. Submissions that are added without discussion are likely to be deleted and those who violate those rules by adding Pantheon content without discussion will get reported to the mods.
    • If you feel the need to remove a character for some reason (poor quality, outdated titles, etcetera) and replace him/her with another or outright rework, please see what the other tropers think about this in the discussion thread before doing anything hasty. Use good reasoning to see if your idea can easily replace the character present without drawing out your statement or giving too ambiguous claims most do not understand.
    • Please be sure to consult others in the discussion about what you want to work before making the profile. This is done to see if your proposal is the best representative and so, in case your profile is turned down, you do not waste time writing something that others might not find suitable.
      • In the same vein, if you adopt a profile from another troper, it is recommended that you make an announcement that you have done so on the discussion thread. More often than not, a trope that was reserved for something was given away to someone else. Check the Related tab on the top of a page to see if a trope or character has been reserved by a user.
    • If, for whatever reason, you are writing about a God who just happens to be a person in real life, just try to be very careful about what you decide to say. Do not try to make the editing seem too meta (self-referential) and use the aformentioned creativity to create hypothetical scenarios towards fictional characters.
  • When writing a profile for a character, here are a few things to note:
    • All deities should be sorted by their divine ranking. Put Overdeities on the top of the page and Quasideities on the bottom. Also be sure to add them in alphabetical order by their first/given name (can be reversed if it is Eastern ordered). For a group, if there is no official name for them all list down all their names by order of relevance or (if too long to list) title them as Insert Name Here Main Characters or some other identifiable title along the same lines.
    • The maximum number of tropes that a god can have is two, but do not try to abuse that fact. If you need to use a second trope to specify a certain thing about their position, that can be excused either because said character represents their trope choice very well alongside the first trope. It is still generally encouraged to only have one trope.
    • A trope can only belong to one profile at a time. The only time two profiles can share a trope is if there are explicit variations listed in the trope page proper (e.g. Muscle Angst is held by both Biscuit Krueger and Chihiro Fujisaki as the former represents "Too Much Muscle" and the latter represents "Not Enough Muscle")
    • If the character you are about to add to a House already exists in another, make sure to mention that this person has spots in other House as well. Up to 2 places can be made for a deity, with the sole exceptions being those at the Main House to highlight those characters’ importance to the Pantheon’s lore.
    • For a character's theme song, try to avoid calling it "Theme of God X" or "Theme of (Show where God X originates from)". If possible, try to find out if the song has an actual name through research. Most importantly, it has to be part their series’ official soundtracks from media. Do not list songs that are made by fans or outside sources. If they were not specifically used as music for that specific character, then they do not count. Furthermore, it has to be a general theme specifically made for that characters’ appearances, not some generic music that plays for many other instances not related to the character in question.
    • For images, when adding an image for your chosen character, it is highly recommended to use a stylized image that embodies the character or renders that also highlights a character’s behavior (such as cool poses). Most images should be from the main adaptations of the character, unless the images from the other media are of a higher quality than the adaptation. Unless it is needed, do not use fanart for images. If you are, please attribute to the original artist. Due to the website’s dark mode, removing white backgrounds from an image is paramount. This website is suggested to do the background removal. If an image you have takes up too much bytes, it is suggestible to use this site to reduce the byte size. If the byte is still too big, put the compressed image to other sites (or even the same one) to compress even further. Use wikias to look for better images, as even wikias for the series might not contain good official images.
    • Creativity is your friend. While it is not recommended to get too ditzy at your ideas, it is best that when writing a profile for a certain character, do you think of capable scenarios between X and Y. Tip: do not use shallow examples (X wields a sword and Y wields one too) and try to think of relationships that makes sense (i.e those characters that are shout-outs for another).
  • Pantheon Content:
    • Some series or genres will eventually have greater representation in the Pantheon than others. This is unavoidable, but a little diversity helps to make you not look like a shill per say. Try to ensure that if you add a deity from a popular series, make sure that it is because they are a good representative for the trope in question, and not just because they are connected to another deity in their respective canon.
      • As far as deities from actual mythologies, there is generally expectation to build the profiles off interactions from fictional portrays rather than basing it entire from the actual myth. Therefore, a mythological deity should be more of a Composite Character whose main identity is from the actual myth.
    • Occasionally there will be Gods that carry a title without a trope. This is not forbidden, but it is well advised not to abuse them. The only house that a tropeless profile are wholly allowed is the House of Food. Mainly due to most food items lacking tropes, and adding tropes about said foodstuffs is slightly unnecessary. However, the character being ascended for their choice of a food, or food-related thing must be a decently good representative of said item. (i.e their Trademark Favorite Food, or something that they are closely associated with In-Universe, or both).
    • For Dominions and Treasures profiles, always consider what made those places/objects popular in the first place. Were they plot-important, identifiable imagery or have a unique aspect of it? Do not just bring regular objects under the basis of following a certain canon.
  • For Profile Standards:
    • Flavor text is used to describe certain things about a character, place or object. To avoid short ones, it is recommended to write flavor text with 4-7 sentences that can fill around 2 lines each. Be warned that adding too many sentences does not equal good flavor text as it is not an essay of sorts (unless words are substantial and do add to the overall line).
    • Character Profiles of a certain person should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 7 (at the minimum) tropes describing their character.
      • Flavor text count for a deity profile should have by minimum, 10 (depending if the character in question has enough relationships/characterization) to 15 with a maximum of 20-25 for an individual profile.
      • On the other hand, group profiles (profiles of a group that has 4 or more members) have their maximum flavor text count to 15 minimum, giving individual lines for the other members of the group (unless the members are not as characterized) up to 30 at max.
    • Dominion profiles of a certain place should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 5 (at the minimum) tropes describing the context of the place.
      • Flavor text count should range at least 10 to 15.
    • Treasure profiles (inanimate objects without a trope) should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 6 (at the minimum) tropes that describes the object itself.
      • Flavor text count should be at least 7 flavor text up to 12 to constitute a treasure profile.

    Divine Ranking System
  • Overdeity: Omnipotent-level Reality Warpers capable of manipulating the entire universe (or at least the world) at will. Within their own universe they are believed to be omnipotent, or at least impossible-to-completely-destroy embodiments or concepts.
  • Greater Gods: High-level Reality Warpers and that are extremely powerful (capable of destroying or changing anywhere from a large city to a planet at will) and very strong non-reality warpers capable of doing the same thing.
  • Intermediate Gods: Deities at this level are capable of strong but specialized powers such as hydrokinesis, pyrokinesis, etc. without major drawbacks and low level Reality Warpers capable of affecting their immediate area at will.
  • Lesser Gods: Capable of highly specific or little power on their own, or suffer from Power at a Price. However, they may be able to ruthlessly exploit their power or combine it with just being badass enough to make up for it.
  • Demigods: Basically the Badass Normals of the pantheon, making up for their lack of abilities with strength, strategy, and/or planning.
  • Quasideities: Any otherwise normal human, human equivalent, or below without any special powers or training will fall here.

    Templates
Template for adding a new deity:

God X, God/dess of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Rank: This can range from Quasideity, Demigod, Lesser God, Intermediate God, Greater God, to Overdeity, based on representation of power mentioned above.
  • Symbol: An image or icon used to represent the deity.
  • Theme Song: Official song (in other words, no fan music, regardless of quality) that usually is used in affiliation with the character. If the deity is a musician this will most likely be their Signature Song. If possible, give a link for reference, preferably on either a website like Soundcloud or YouTube.
  • Alignment: Good, evil, neutral etc. Forget about The Great Character Alignment Debate here, the Pantheon is one of the few places where you can assign Dungeons & Dragons alignment to characters that don't have alignment system. After all, the Pantheon is based on D&D and is made for fun.
  • For Pokémon deities only:
    • Gender: Defines the gender of the Pokémon; if genderless, it instead defines what gender they identify as.
    • Ability: Provides the Pokémon's ability. If they can Mega Evolve, the new ability is listed as well.
    • Moves: Defines the four moves used by a Pokémon. A Z-Move may also be listed.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the character.
  • Domains: Things that the character has influence over.
  • Herald: Non-ascended loyal character that is from the same series as the ascended character.
  • High Priest: Non-ascended like heralds, but not from the same series, and can serve as a worthy replacement in case something would happen. They can be served as part-time workers in case the originals are busy with some jobs. Co-Godhood is accepted depending on the approval of the originals, usually if the co-deity is from the same series.
  • Followers: Non-ascended characters that are not part of the Pantheon, but would probably worship this character by the fact that they share the ascended character's trope.
  • Relationships between ascended characters go here with your chosen character, it goes something like this:
    • Allies: Members of the Pantheon that are allies, those that share the same values as them and would theoretically be friends with them.
    • Rivals: Members of the Pantheon that are rivals, people who may look at your character with suspicion or a challenge.
    • Enemies: Members of the Pantheon that are foes, those who would see your chosen character as a threat, either on their pespective or yours.
    • Additional Character Relationships: Members of the Pantheon that do not fit in various relationships (examples include Enemy Mine, Vitriolic Best Buds, Teeth-Clenched Teamwork, Headbutting Heroes, Friendly Enemy, Friendly Rival, Just Friends, etc.), allies, rivals, or enemies.
    • Partner: Defines a partnership with an ascended deity and Mon-type. (if any)
    • Feared by/Fears: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon notably fear or are feared by.
    • Respected by/Respects: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon respect or are respected by.
    • Opposed by/Opposes: Not necessarily the same as "Enemies", but this is used for any deity whom the members of the Pantheon directly opposes or is opposed by (basically the opposite of "Respects") terms of certain viewpoints, regardless of alignment.
    • Pitied by/Pities: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon feel pity for or are found pitiable by.
    • Conflicting Opinion: Sometimes, the Deities argue over specific themes and philosophies.
  • Add the Intro. The intro is made up of two trivia, the Ascension Text (or just the Ascension) and The Bio. Both are necessary, but which order you use for them may vary depending on the profile in question. It may be better for one profile to have The Bio first and the Ascension second or vice-versa, although for the most part the order is irrelevant:
    • The Ascension Text: This the story of how the character got into the Pantheon and/or was ascended. There are many ways for this to happen. They may be tricked into it or have simply wandered into the Pantheon, they may have had an already ascended character bring them in, they may already be in the Pantheon (via being another deity's Herald or sharing a trope) and got "promoted", or some combination of the above. Anything is possible in the Pantheon, so use your imagination, but try to incorporate their trope into the story, if possible.
    • The Bio: A brief synopsis on the character's backstory. No need for the character's entire life/production history, but just give enough that those who don't know the character can get an idea of how the character works.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Deities/Characters is 10-15 (15-20 for group profiles) at minimum to 20-25 (30 for group profiles) at maximum.

Template for Dominions profiles:

Place X, Place of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Alignment: Refers to the dominion's role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the dominion.
  • Domains: Things that the place has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the location has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as where the dominion is linked to, note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said dominion, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Dominion is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Dominions is 10 at minimum to 15 at maximum.

Template for Treasure profiles:

The name of the item in here (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Appearance: A shortened description of the item's looks with some notable features also mentioned.
  • Class: Refer to the Treasure Classification System in the Great Treasury.
  • Alignment: Refers to the objects' role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Museum Check: A note that says whether the item is viewable by the public.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the item.
  • Domains: Things that the item has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the item has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as where the item is linked to (especially the original owner of the item), note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said object, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Treasure is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Treasures is 7 at minimum to 12 at maximum.

I'm wondering if Sally Acorn fits Chessmaster Sidekick (Sonic is the leader and she's number two, but smarter and forms the group's plans), or is there a superior trope for her to take?

Garnet would be a good fit for Star Sapphire recruits on a Pantheonic Green Lantern Corps.

How about Ultraviolet Corps? Too new?

Colonel James Rupert "Rhodey" Rhodes, God of Escalating Weaponry Barrage (War Machine, Iron Man, Iron Patriot, Jim Rhodes, Commander Rhodes, Shellshock, The Mighty Atom, Whiskey Mike)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/war_machine_vol_2_8_textless.jpg
Iron Patriot
  • Intermediate God
  • Symbol: A red-lighted Arc Reactor
  • Theme Song: His Theme in Marvel vs. Capcom, His Theme in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
  • Alignment: Lawful Good with doses of Lawful Neutral
  • Portfolio: Preferring to Fight Using Firearms and Escalating the Scope Constantly, Tony Stark's Best Friend, Using a Modified Version of an Iron Man Suit, Ace Pilot, Popular Enough to Warrant his own Series, Colonel Badass, Flying Brick/Lightning Bruiser, Always with a Gatling Gun, Can Create an Endless Amount of Weapons and Ammunition, Military Superhero, Is Not Tony's Sidekick, Walking Armory
  • Domains: Weaponry, Military, Technology, Friendship, Flight, Navy
  • High Priest: Laguna Loire
  • Allies:
  • Friendly Rival: Nathaniel Adam/Captain Atom, Genos
  • Enemies: Obadiah Stane/Iron Monger, Thanos, Ultron, Norman Osborn/Green Goblin, Darkseid, Lex Luthor, Ali Al-Saachez, Muruta Azrael, Megatron, Starscream, Frank Underwood, The Grineer
  • Who says the Iron Man suits are exclusive to Tony Stark? Enter Colonel James Rhodes, a United States soldier who once served in the The Vietnam War, he first met Tony after he saved Rhodey from a helicopter crash. The results after were Rhodey and Stark becoming friends with the two of them defeating the Viet Cong and Rhodey taking up a job as Stark's personal pilot, being one of the few who knew of Tony's identity as Iron Man and becoming the chief aviation officer. That is until Tony was dealing with alcoholism and battles against the Iron Monger when Rhodey took up the Iron Man mantle and soon established the West Coast Avengers, though he soon gave up being Iron Man due to having difficulties with the suit via his helmet being calibrated specifically for Stark, hence causing Rhodey headaches and being heavily injured by a bomb attack from Stane.
    • However, he would return to duty soon, alongside receiving a modified Iron Man suit equipped with all sorts of weaponry ranging from gatling guns and missiles to flamethrowers and laser-firing tech known as the Variable Threat Response Battle Suit. Designed for all-out battles, Rhodey took the suit for himself, christened himself War Machine and went on to become an incredibly formidable superhero in his own right.
  • Initially one of Tony's two heralds, Rhodey really made his mark in the Pantheon after displaying his abilities to its residents and how his time as a superhero and as Tony's friend has made him the man that he is now. Even more impressive was when he managed to stop an attack carried out by the Green Goblin who was intending to bomb a building in the House of Commerce. His most striking feature and what distinguishes him from Iron Man, his never-ending supplement of weaponry was what made War Machine eligible to join the Pantheonic ranks, representing More Dakka.
  • Being a part of the military and for his representing trope, War Machine is undoubtedly one of the more physically offensive and destructive superheroes in the Pantheon. Most of the House of Weapons are very intrigued by his armour and what he is capable. Unfortunately, Rhodey doesn't have much time flashing his weapons to fans, instead spending more time in military services and preparing himself for future threats. Being a soldier means being prepared after all.
  • Given that he was an adept Ace Pilot, Rhodey made quick friends with Hal Jordan and, while not too phased about the Lantern Corps, was nonetheless impressed about how Hal was able to utilise his and lead the Green Lanterns several times. While Rhodey isn't interested in the rings, he states he's more than welcome to come help out Hal and the Green Lantern Corps at any time.
  • Given his military prowess the Grand United Alliance of Good were eager to have him as one of their major military assets, which Rhodey was content with, provided that they keep a good promise of the military being provided with good support just as much of Rhodey getting weaponry upgrades. The GUAG have complied thanks to Rhodey's dedication to justice and protection. Still, it wouldn't hurt if he could get some combat training from various deities.
  • On one occasion, Frank Castle took hold of an old War Machine suit and used to fight against crime, with predictable results given the fact that he's a vigilante who isn't hesitant to kill. Rhodey eventually showed up to convince Frank to give the suit up, which he does given the amount of respect Frank has for Rhodey who reciprocated. The two have been good allies since.
  • Was surprised to see that there was someone who formerly held his trope in the form of Laguna Loire. However, with Rhodey coming in full-time, Laguna was forced to pass on his title, feeling that Rhodey may be better suited to the title. Rhodey did, however, decide to keep Laguna by nominating him as his High Priest. By doing so meant that Laguna was still in the Pantheon, though he's not as prominent as he used to be. Still, Rhodey has the feeling that he and Laguna can be pretty good partners on the battlefield.
  • He became fast friends with Heero Yuy and Trowa Barton. Considering they're all skilful pilots with adequate experiences in War, Rhodey was impressed to see them utilize Alpha Strikes on their opponents to get a situation done, alongside bombarding them with as many weapons as possible. He also sympathizes with Yuy and Barton's age during their battles, especially given that Heero accidentally killed a little girl, prompting him to become reserved and quiet and Trowa forgetting about himself and his sister and using an alias to compensate.
    • He also has some sense of camaraderie with the 501st Joint Fighter Wing. Being soldiers who persevered through dedicated teamwork and friendship, Rhodey has a measure of respect for the girls. He was thinking of having Stark present them Iron Man suits as a sign of goodwill, though the girls respectfully declined. Still, wherever the 501st JFW are fighting, Rhodey is more than welcome to tag along.
  • He was once killed by Thanos. Of course, Rhodey returned from the dead to carry on his superheroics as usual. That said, he's become more aware of cosmic deities, especially Darkseid, given that not only does he resemble Thanos, but is much more malicious to boot. He'll probably be upgrading his weapons further and reach out to advanced sciences for that if it means taking on the Lord of Apokolips and other similar foes. Oh, and Rhodey hasn't forgotten about Thanos either.
    • Another thing to clarify was that he wasn't happy about the fact that there was another superhero civil war that was influenced by his death in some way. He does recall the last time that sort of thing happened and how disastrous it was for all combatants.
  • Has a sort of rivalry going on with Genos, though both remain on friendly terms with one another regardless. A battle simulation conducted by Wiz and Boomstick came out with the conclusion of Rhodey being able to near-effortlessly defeat Genos. Ever since then, Genos has been striving to become stronger and equip himself with better tech in the hopes of becoming a stronger and more capable hero.
  • He might be one of the more capable beings in the Pantheon to take on the Grineer. Rhodey was rather concerned about the fact that they're an invasive army who go out of their way to kill and plunder out of hatred and superiority. To top it off, they're no stranger to pulverizing their enemies with as much weaponry as possible. If anything, the Grineer is one of the reasons why Rhodey (With Stark's permission of course) would sometimes offer Iron Man suits to his allies and other military personnel to hive them a fighting chance.
  • At some point, he rechristened himself into an American version of Iron Man, aptly named the Iron Patriot. However, that position was first taken by Norman Osborn when he was leading the Dark Avengers. Rhodey apparently went on a brief stint with this identity someplace else which is the reason why some remember him for having an Iron Man suit styled after the Star-Spangled banner. Still, given what Norman really is, Rhodey is willing to strip the Iron Patriot identity from him. Not that Norman is bothered by it, as he's more preferable to be the Green Goblin instead.
Little late for that. If I were still... Human. I'd have lost count of how many I've killed. But I can't forget anything, now... And I can't stop seeing everything. Every woman they've raped... Every child they've shot... I hate them. God help me, I hate them. Maybe someday someone'll hate me just as much. But I don't care. All I know... Is that today... The world needs a War Machine.

  • Disregards: Dis
  • You die and go to Hell because you've committed one too many morally reprehensible actions in your life. So what's to be expected is to be damned for eternity. Instead, for a select amount, they're instead taken to the Demon Lord, Malebolgia, ruler of the 8th Circle of Hell who gives out promises of giving you your life back. It actually works... until you realize Malebolgia has turned you into a demon known as a Hellspawn and the Demon Lord wants to make you a herald of the Apocalypse so that he could launch a grand assault on Heaven and take it over for all eternity.
  • Malebolgia was killed by Spawn at one point and returned to do battle against him again. Sooner or later, he'd have figured out that manipulating him was futile and that being opposed by the Anti-Hero was an eternal occurrence. Well, if that's the case, Malebolgia will do his best to torment Spawn and his loved ones with any means necessary. This is also the reason he joined the Pantheon; he once demanded and forced Ghirahim to give up his position of Demon Lords and Archdevils after showcasing his powers. However, knowing that he may be useful to him in the future, Malebolgia left Ghirahim to be anointed with Sissy Villain. Being fellow diabolical demons has its benefits after all.
  • His Pantheonic arrival was marked by loud, bombastic laughing from many parts of the Pantheon, especially the Houses of Villains and Otherness. He made a grand announcement that he is one of the most powerful Demon Lords and that any and all demons should come to revere him. Of course, he was surprised to see some demons see him with utter disgust and contempt, though most villainous ones were comfortable at least acknowledging his influence and power.
  • While he possesses incredible power, being able to take on a group of powerful angels and win effortlessly and his influence is undoubtedly recognized, Malebolgia's special talent relies on his deceit and manipulation towards his minions and pawns. He is very clever when it comes to granting the wishes of someone, only to cruelly screw them over in the next life, something that he had done to Al Simmons and would gladly do it again. He is very obsessed with starting a War on Heaven and wants to drag the Angels Sub-House with it, hoping to destroy it and allow the Demons Sub-House to pillage and rule over what's left of it. Unsurprisingly, he opposed by every angel in the Pantheon.
    • Excluding angels, most humans don't like Malebolgia all too much either. Father Kerras and Father Merrin see him in outright disgust as Malebolgia revels in sadistically mocking those he is meant to punish as well as being similar to Pazuzu in that regard. He's also seen with scorn by Zafina who sees him as even worse than Azazel, a demon that once possessed Zafina and forced her into harming innocents. Malebolgia seeks to torment them in his own spare time, but for now, he has bigger issues to tend to.
  • He does take great precaution towards the Doomslayer, given his infamous reputation for inspiring fear towards his enemies, especially demons. Given that even the Violator is not very confident in taking him on, Malebolgia is quick to strike new partnerships in an attempt to combat the Doomslayer. He's aware of the fact that he'll come for him one day, and he's not ready to die with his goals not realized.
  • Upon arriving in the Pantheon, the Violator immediately sought to strike a partnership with him again, eager to finally get an old face to collaborate against Spawn. Malebolgia has since heaped high praises to his lieutenant for killing Wanda Blake and receiving a significant power boost from it. They've since made up several headquarters around their domains, plotting out different methods to take on Spawn, now that he's on a warpath for what Violator had done to him.
  • He is not unlike a lot of deities in the Pantheon who rely on tricks and false promises to get what they want. Case in point; Quan Chi, a demon from the Netherrealm who was infamous for backstabbing several of his allies and for instigating the destruction of the Shirai Ryu and sullying the reputation of the Lin Kuei. Malebolgia himself became a sour reminder for Scorpion, who finds the Demon Lord to be very similar to Quan Chi in their habit of deceiving and ruining others for their amusement and swears to eliminate him once and for all, even forming an alliance of convenience with Spawn for that matter.
  • Prideful as he is, he doesn't have much of a high opinion about Melkor. The Dark Lord himself, however, thinks that given how he relies more on lying and trying to deceive others, Malebolgia really has no position to compare himself. Malebolgia, however, shot back at Melkor for shrewdly stating that whenever he has to fight against someone who actually poses a threat, he chickens out unless he has to prove his superiority towards his followers. This actually prompted Melkor to suddenly attack him, with Malebolgia quickly making a getaway.
    • That said, he is a member of the GUAE Mastermind due to his incredible power and influence. Oh sure, him and Melkor still have some beef, but given they have similar opponents, for the time being, they're going to have to work together in this case. He does, however, have plans to backstab Melkor once the forces of Good are wiped out. Then again, so is most of the GUAE.
  • Intrinsically, he is opposed to YHVH. He personally finds it rather amusing that he's similar to the God of his Universe, who's also no better than YHVH. On the other hand, he's rather conflicted about Lucifer. He expresses some respect towards his power and leadership, though he finds his encouragement towards humans to be rather annoying and rather out-of-touch for someone like him. On the other hand, YHVH sees Malebolgia as another one of Melkor's lackeys and Lucifer just sees him with seething disgust.
  • His deceptive mind had him clashing against the working ethics of the Incubators at one point. Them, especially Kyubey stated that at the very least, they do mean what they say and try to stop the universe from ending. Malebolgia instead retorted that they're instead doing it for self-sustainance and them tricking Magical Girls is not far away from what Malebolgia does to damned souls.
    • Naturally, this led to him being opposed by the Puella Magi, though Homura Akemi personally has out on him the most. She hates Malebolgia for simply reminding her of Kyubey and how his actions of trickery led to the other Puella Magi taking in so much despair. Malebolgia himself found the suffering of the girls funny on his part, which prompted Homura to blast him back to Hell. Still, just because he lost to Homura doesn't mean Malebolgia is siding with the Incubators, given that the Violator already has his feud against the girls.
  • He gets along splendidly with Molag Bal, considering the fact that both of them get a knack out of tormenting souls for the hell of it and committing condemnation without any sort of fairness. Malebolgia also seems to like Coldharbour for somewhat reminding him of his hell.
    • This, of course, bought him into enmity to the Daedric Princes, particularly Meridia and Jyggalag for reasons more than just Malebolgia and Molag Bal are allies. Meridia sees him with open content due to the depravities he casually commits and sees his way of restricting individuals as Hellspawns as some form of Necromancy. Jyggalag being an enforcer of Law opposes Malebolgia for representing the malicious side of Chaos and that Malebolgia's skills in tricks and manipulation may be an obstacle to Jyggalag's mind as each seeks to conquer the Pantheon with the use of their intellect.
  • Is impressed to see there are two different versions of Hell. The one based on The Divine Comedy was one of immediate comfort for him, given that Malebolgia rules over the 8th Circle (representing malice and fraud) and was further amused that's it's name, Malebolge, was the inspiration for his own name. The other Hell, on the other hand, had Malebolgia confused. He found it weird imagining Hell being a fun and enjoyable place (or at least for those who aren't demons), but still, demons enjoy it as well. He doesn't have much to comment on, given that Malebolgia already has an iteration of Hell that he can easily dwell under.
    • And no, Dis isn't the ideal Satan for him. The Satan he knew terrified him to no end, Dis, on the hand, was reduced to a sobbing, pathetic and eternally confined shell of his former self, remaining in the lowest pits to suffer for personally defying and insulting God. Still, he does have some respect for other iterations of Satan, given that they're actually competent and respects Damien Thorn for actively trying to oppose his destiny of losing.
  • At one point, he was imprisoned in the Netherrealm alongside Kronika by Spawn. Seeking vengeance, Malebolgia decided to strike an alliance with the Mistress of Time. All things considered, being with Kronika had Malebolgia very interested in her Hourglass, and he wants that badly. For now, however, he's working with Kronika in fighting against Spawn and Kombatants who are vehemently opposed to the Mistress of Time. Once that's been settled, Malebolgia will swipe the Hourglass from Kronika and use it to assure Hell the ultimate victory against Heaven.
There is a reason you were chosen among the tortured millions. Death. Evil. Blackness. Those seeds were planted in you at birth. Soon. Very soon. All shall come to fruition.

@Crimson: [tup] for both

Figured I'd review a couple of past ideas and make a change or two to them, as well as suggest a new idea to see how well they work.

  • I had Pichu for Ridiculously Cute Critter, by virtue of it being an even more marketable version of Pikachu, itself an already cute Pokemon. I'm wondering if it's possible to include Togepi in the profile, as it's an anthropomorphic egg and one of several "baby Pokemon" (introduced in the Generation 2 like Pichu), and its evolution line remains consistently cute.
  • One of my old ideas was Harvey Birdman for Hilarity Sues, given how the show focuses on lawsuits directed at Hanna-Barbera characters for their generally normal antics in their original show (ie: Quick Draw Mcgraw's guitar is treated as a concealed weapon and Scooby and Shaggy get mistaken for stoners) and Harvey Birdman takes cases involving them. I'm wondering if this works or Omnidisciplinary Lawyer is better since the cases are varied, including injury-based lawsuits, business-based lawsuits, civil defense, and even being the plaintiff.
  • My new idea involves giving Too Clever by Half to Klug. He's a nerd and Insufferable Genius who gets so caught up in his own intellect that it causes him some problems, among them include carrying a book housing a demon that can possess him at any moment (the first time it happened was when he found three items and used it to unleash the book's full power, despite the book saying not to open it near those specific items).

@ azul: More the issue that the only willing convert(as far as I know) in the UV Corps is Sinestro. Also there's Umbrax, but I don't think that's been shown as more of a character than a plot-based Eldritch Abomination (but it's still metal af)

@ r-lock: Pichu and Togepi seems a nice balance, as they're the most well-known baby Pokemon

I'm considering Methuselah for Anthropomorphic Personification or Gratuitous Latin. The former as he is the concept of darkness given form and personified by collective humanity(distinct from the Hadou Gods), the latter because all his spells are various Latin phrases

Ai Astin, Goddess of Worlds Without Death

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aiastin.jpg
  • Lesser Goddess
  • Symbol: Her shovel
  • Theme Song: "Birth"
  • Alignment: Neutral Good
  • Portfolio: Moe, Wide-Eyed Idealist, All-Loving Heroine, half-human, half-Gravekeeper, performing a reaper's job in a deathless, godless world
  • Domains: Death, Life, Travel, Idealism
  • Heralds: Julie Sakuma Dmitriyevich, Scar, Alice Color
  • Allies: 7S!Death, Death of the Endless, Decim, Lord Death, Chito and Yuuri, The Young Girl and the Soldier, Sam and Dean Winchester, Antonius Block, Shovel Knight
  • Enemies: Nekron, Nagash
  • Opposes: Dhuum, Chuck Shurley
  • Ai Astin is a young girl hailing from a world that has been abandoned by God. That world fell out of order and became stagnant, with no new people being born and nobody dying when they should. God's last gift before leaving was the Gravekeepers, the only beings capable of granting true death to humans who don't wish to soldier on as undead. Ai is half-Gravekeeper, having been born from the very first Gravekeeper and a human father. Although she is very naive, she has a strong desire to save the world that God has abandoned. After meeting her father and burying him, she went on a journey in order to help people in whatever ways she can, accompanied by her father's friend Julie, a pure Gravekeeper known as Scar and later a boy around her age called Alice.
  • Ai was traveling with her friends through her devastated, yet oddly beautiful and peaceful world. At some point they stopped to set up camp for the night, and Ai decided to wander off on her own. After arriving at a beach, which she marvelled at because she had never seen one before, she was approached by an eerie figure in a black cloak. When Ai levelled her shovel at him and demanded to know his name, he answered "I am Death," which astonished Ai. She didn't have time to fully process that information before Death was suggesting they have a nice game of chess, which a confused Ai found herself agreeing to. In the conversation that ensued, Ai wondered, somewhat accusingly, what Death was doing if he no longer reaped lives, to which he replied he was not the Death of her world and thus had no power over it, and that he was only visiting out of curiosity at what a deathless world was like. The implication of another world got Ai's attention, but she had a chess game to focus on first. Except, as she came to realize, she had no idea how to play chess, as she'd never had a chance to before...
    • At any rate, Death eventually left Ai with a portal to the "other world" open and an invitation to enter. Curiosity got the better of her and she went in. She explored on her own for a bit until she came across a tank, from which popped out two girls, Chito and Yuuri. The three girls talked and Ai learned that the place she was in was the Pantheon, and that Chito and Yuuri themselves were from a world that was also nearing its end and they had been traveling, much like Ai. As Ai joined them on their travels, the three girls became close, and Chito and Yuuri decided to bring her to the Main House to suggest her for proper ascension. Ai's story and the world she came from were deemed interesting enough that she got a position.
  • Of course, she met Death again, who was rather satisfied to see her made into a goddess and invited her to play chess again someday... when she has a better grasp on the game. Given he's one of the heads of the House of Life and Death where Ai is placed, the two are in close contact. The other House head Ai gets along with is Death of the Endless, who appreciates the young girl's zest for life and empathy despite her paradoxal position as a reaper-like being. She also thinks Ai is just adorable and often fawns over her. She also makes sure Death doesn't mess with the naive Ai too much.
    • Other death-bringers she likes include Decim and Lord Death, largely because of how kind they are. With Decim in particular she finds him to be the entity most similar to a Gravekeeper due to him originally lacking in emotion and later learning to be more expressive, in a similar development to that of Ai's pure Gravekeeper friend Scar (Ai herself always had emotions due to being half-human). Ai likes to hang out at Decim's bar, though he can't help but think it looks bad for a 12-year-old to hang around his joint, but he likes her too much to tell her to leave.
  • Gravekeepers are naturally able to detect the proximity of any undead and have an itch to bury any they find (something that is belied by their constant Dissonant Serenity). Because Ai was born half-human, these instincts are not present in her, and she is more than happy to allow the undead go on with their un-lives if they truly wish to remain in that state of being. Thus, she has a better relationship with the House of Undead than one might expect. Even back in her world there was a whole city for undead called Ortus whose culture she respected and she got along swimmingly with its leader. The House of Undead is much the same as Ortus to her. It's just too bad that the House heads are awful, especially Nekron and Nagash. Ai thinks it's unforgivable that they use the undead to build their armies when she knows for a fact that many just wish to lead peaceful existences. Nor can she abide their plans to respectively turn everything into nothing or turn the entire world into their personal undead kingdom. Given Ai's power to grant true death would make dead bodies impervious to Nekron and Nagash's manipulations, the two think this otherwise insignificant little girl does pose a threat to their goals, so it's a priority to have her assassinated.
  • At the very least, an "ally" (which is a very loose term in this case) of Nekron that doesn't go along with the idea of getting rid of Ai is Dhuum, because as an obsessive hunter of those who have cheated death, he approves of Ai being capable of granting true death, so he has an interest in protecting her. Ai by her turn doesn't like his merciless nature at all and avoids him as much as she can.
  • In her time in the Pantheon, she has become aware that there are quite a few beings that go by the name of God. She has some suspicions that Chuck Shurley is the god who created and abandoned her world, given he has been similarly flaky towards the world he is confirmed to come from. Which speaking of, she proved to get along very well with Sam and Dean Winchester, identifying with them as they also travel the world in order to fulfill a mission and have had their lives plagued by tragedy such as losing a parent. Of course, Sam and Dean have gone through a lot more than Ai, but then again Ai is far younger than them, and when you live in a world like hers, it's only a matter of time... Sam and Dean at least feel inspired to protect Ai like a little sister and try to ensure she doesn't become traumatized too quickly (especially now that she's in a place as crazy as the Pantheon).
  • Ai once met a girl about her age who seemed to be carrying an unusually large egg around. She got curious about what the egg was supposed to be and why the girl was carrying it, but the girl only gave her very sparse and mysterious answers. Ai wasn't deterred and spent that day with the girl helping her, filling up the silence with her chatter, which the girl didn't seem to mind. They ended up spending the night at the girl's temple, and once the girl fell asleep, Ai met a young man carrying a cross, who she had noticed earlier in the day following them around and who somewhat reminded her of her father. They talked a bit, and while it was a bit hard to follow for Ai, she could surmise that the two also came from a ravaged world that had been abandoned by God. The nature of the egg still eluded her, but that was fine, because it was obviously something important to the girl and Ai was happy to have helped. Though it puzzled Ai why the man kept himself out of the girl's sight, to which he admitted that he purposefully broke her precious egg in the past. This gave Ai pause, but it didn't last long as she smiled and told the man to keep protecting the girl. From that day on, Ai visits the two regularly.
  • Met Death's favorite chess opponent Antonius Block while visiting the former one day. As one might imagine, Ai was surprised that a regular human like Antonius was so at ease in the presence of an embodiment of death. They started talking about themselves and Ai learned about how Antonius' world went through a crisis of its own that at least resembled the end times, due to a black plague epidemic, and how Antonius traveled through the land on a spiritual search for God, which Ai realized was pretty similar to her own adventures. They wound up becoming pretty good friends, with Antonius reminding Ai of Julie. She has also found in him someone willing to teach her about chess.
  • Met the Shovel Knight when he suddenly appeared to her out of nowhere and demanded an honorable duel with her, having noticed the impressive-looking shovel strapped to her back. A panicked Ai managed to explain that she really wasn't a fighter at all before any fighting started and explained what her shovel's purpose was. Shovel Knight was somewhat disappointed, but not for too long as he got the idea to take Ai under his wing and train her in the art of wielding a shovel so she can deal with the many dangers of the Pantheon. Ai isn't really sure that's a good idea, but at least she can see Shovel Knight has good intentions and humors him. She remains rather on the clumsy side as of yet, but that doesn't seem to deter Shovel Knight as he enthusiastically works her to the bone in their training sessions.
