WMG / Deadpool & Wolverine

Go To

As a WMG subpage, all spoilers are unmarked as per policy. You Have Been Warned.

The TVA is playing Wade. They’re using him to get to Wolverine who was offered a similar deal but got wise.
  • Or the TVA plans to extort Wade for altering the timeline in Deadpool 2. They demand he follows their orders, or they will wipe away his altered present.

In addition to the Fox logo in the teaser, other Marvel/Fox/Disney elements and properties will be seen.

The ending to The Marvels will be followed up on.

The TVA agent is actually Mojo. Specifically a version of Mojo who’s just as fourth wall aware as Wade and is tricking him into his own twisted version of the MCU.

Wade will come to blows with She-Hulk.
  • Needless to say, the fourth wall will not be safe from their combined snarking.
    • Bonus points if Shulkie brings up her threat to destroy him from Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
    • Considering that Paradox was a judge who presided over Jennifer's trial in the comics, it would be a nice Mythology Gag to have her show up in this movie.
    • Deadpool albeit in a reasonably playful way will be annoyed that she beat him to the punch as the first major character in the franchise to regularly break the fourth wall.

The post credits scene will follow up on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
Deadpool will arrive on Earth-833 to collect Charles Xavier's dead body while saying "Come Jean-Luc, we got X-Men to reboot."

Loki (in his new role as the god of stories) or Uatu will cameo.

There'll be a Take That! to Secret Invasion
Whether that be it being on a pruned branch or Wade hoping he won't have to reference it. Or he could snark how Marvel did the exact thing they called themselves out on in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

Wade will kill the Kangs played by Jonathan Majors offscreen
To make room for Majors's replacement.
  • All while mocking how over-hyped Kang the Conqueror is as the supposed next Big Bad when he and his Variants did not really live up to the expectations:
Paradox: Tell me, Wade. How was it neutralizing all those Kangs, any difficulties?
Wade: Actually it was super easy, barely an inconvenience. The next "Thanos", my ass. Him and Roiland just had to screw things up for themselves.
Wade will make a quip about the Seasonal Rot the MCU underwent in Phase 4
Though this is Hypocritical Humor, since overuse of quippy comedy was one of the main complaints.

The film will open with the Disney Vanity Plate as a jab at the studio.
And it'll be defaced to fit Deadpool's brand of humor, with a big "EL DEADPOOL WUZ HEER" tag spray-painted all over Cinderella Castle.
  • Except the MCU films never have the Disney Vanity Plate. If anything, the Marvel Studios logo will have Deadpool everywhere, complete with Ryan Reynolds doing an a capella cover of the Marvel theme.

Since it was one of the most infamous Fox films based on a Marvel IP, it's possible that the TVA will have its universe pruned, or Wade being dismissive of it.
  • Wade will run into that film's version of Johnny Storm and confuse him for Erik Killmonger before correcting himself by saying "No wait, Killmonger is actually well-written."
  • Wade will dismiss Reed's advice by threatening to sic Jameson on him.
  • Alternatively, the Fant4stic universe will have a plot-relevant role, with Miles Teller's Reed Richards having become The Maker, setting him up as a major antagonist going forward for the Multiverse Saga.

The line "What would you prefer, black leather?" will be used in reference to Wolverine's new costume.
It would be the perfect book-end to Fox's X-Men movies after the first film jabbed at yellow spandex.

The Stinger will have Deadpool wreaking havoc across other Disney properties
He could interrupt the final battle of The Rise of Skywalker by killing Palpatine before he unleashes the Final Order, hijack one of the Disney remakes, invade one of their animated or live action television shows, or cry his eyes out while watching a certain tearjerking moment from whatever Pixar movie he lands in.
  • Likely Jossed for any Star Wars crossovers, as Kevin Feige wants the two franchises kept seperate.

Elektra will comment on whether or not she found Bullseye and killed him
Deadpool will ask if she ever got to avenger herself and her father, assuming Bullseye will even appear even if just for 10 seconds. It can go either way.
  • Elektra says she found him, he's still in a body cast before she stabs him in the chest before he could realize it's her. She left and says with a satisfied grin "finally..." before admitting in the present "Yeah, but now that I did it... I kind of got nothing else going on..."
  • Turns out someone gave her and Bullseye immortality for laughs, meaning they could keep stabbing each other all the want but because they can't die, they lost interest in revenge or sadism and are now semi-friendly with hint of flirty with each other.

We get a nod back to X-Men Origins: Wolverine
  • Some members of the old team like Blob and Agent Zero appear

Potential Characters who will make surprise cameos
As it has been hyped, there will likely be surprise appearances of various Marvel characters:
  • TVA
    • Loki, Sylvie, Miss Minutes, Mobius, Hunter B-15/Verity Willis, O.B. , Ravonna, He Who Remains
  • X-Men/Mutants:
    • Charles Xavier, Magneto, Jean Grey, Beast, Cyclops, Rogue, Gambit, Wanda, Pietro, Jubilee, Cable, Domino, Laura, Mystique(s)
      • The Wolverine-Yukio, just for the contrast and potential interaction with DP-Yukio
  • Villains
    • Kang, Ajax, Sabretooth, William Stryker, Lady Deathstrike
  • Other Characters
    • The Watcher, She-Hulk, Squirrel Girl, Dr. Strange, Clea, Spider-Men, Howard the Duck
    • Longshot, since Shatterstar is already confirmed (and most likely played by Brad Pitt)
  • Non-Marvel Disney owned characters
  • Likely Jossed for any Star Wars crossovers, as Kevin Feige wants the two franchises kept seperate.

The movie will finally clarify (or at least parody) the time travel rules for Fox's X-Men Universe.
Unlike the MCU's concept of parallel branch realities, Fox's X-Men universe has shown that using Time Travel to alter the past, will alter the future. This contradicts the rules referenced in Avengers Endgame and Loki, where Branch Realities are instead created. This will be pointed out in Deadpool and Wolverine in potential ways:
  • Deadpool realizes he didn't actually alter time. But rather his "Happy Ending" was in a parallel timeline.
  • The MCU's time travel rules have an addendum added, which clarify that certain beings ("Nexus Beings") can altered their branch entirely, without causing a new universe. Deadpool learns that he, Wolverine, Wanda, Loki, Cable and/or Kang all have the ability.
  • The X- Men universe is about to collapse on itself from the "Poor Construct of Ideas and Contadictions" of that Universe.
  • Paradox is behind the inconsistencies of the X-Men Universe.

The return of Hugh Jackman for Wolverine is only a Back for the Finale casting
  • Despite rumors of Jackman being involved in Avengers: Secret Wars. Jackman's return could be a short one to serve as a bookend for Ryan Reynolds turn as Deadpool. The movie will end with Deadpool being forced to let Wolverine meet his fate in Logan.

Taylor Swift isn't making a cameo in the film, but rather she is singing the Award-Bait Song for the film.
Much like Céline Dion singing the End Credits song, "Ashes" for Deadpool 2, Swift's will perform the End Credits song for Deadpool and Wolverine.

Vanessa is finally labeled a Mutant.
Despite her comic book counterpart being a known mutant (Copycat), Vanessa has been portrayed as a regular human. However, this film will either have Vanessa awaken to her shape shifting abilities or Deadpool will come across a Parallel version of a Mutant Version of Vanessa.

Vanessa will be retconned as a Parallel version of Vanessa Fisk.
With the return of Wilson Fisk and the upcoming Daredevil revival, what if Deadpool's Vanessa is another version of Fisk's wife, Vanessa Fisk? While Marvel has broken the One-Steve Limit for other characters (such as Peter Parker & Peter Quill or Hank Pym & Henry "Hank" Mccoy). Could this mean that another Kingpin exists in the X-Men Universe?

There will be an explanation regarding Wolverine's comic-accurate costume
Wolverine finally donning his comic-accurate costume but the question is why? It's possibly that Wolverine was supposed to get his black leather suit but he accidentally grabbed a yellow and blue suit instead.

There will be a jab made at the expense of Gina Carano
Carano's controversial social media posts and comments that got her fired from The Mandalorian is so notorious that Deadpool deserves to address it, given that he encountered Carano as Angel Dust and is now himself part of the Disney family. This could manifest in the following ways...
  • If Wade encounters a fresh new face set for future MCU appearances, he'll demand that the actor's social media be checked.
  • A line of dialogue will indicate that Angel Dust was not only pruned by the TVA, but sent to the void where she was devoured by Alioth offscreen, thus negating any and all possibilities for Carano to reprise the role.

Considering Deadpool is going on a multiversal jaunt, he will poke fun at how The Multiverse concept is getting really played out with literally every franchise
  • Considering Wade Wilson made a joke in the last movie to Cable, "So dark, are you sure you're not from the DC Universe?", maybe he will make another jab at The Flash's expense.
    • He could brag that they have the actual actors for their cameos and not "CGI dolls of dead people who just stare instead of helping".
  • He could reference Everything Everywhere All at Once by saying that no one can top what The Daniels did...albeit still with some snark.
Wade: Seriously, if Kwan and Scheinert ever do something for Marvel, the anti-superhero snobs will turn on 'em just as quick as they did on Chloé Zhao.
    • Bonus points if he only brings them up as a result of the "pegging" thing.
  • He could also say he has to apologize to "Percy Jackson" for calling him stupid for believing in the Multiverse.
  • Wade will make fun of how Rick and Morty popularized the multiverse before saying that It's Been Done by either comic books or Greek philosophers.
  • Wade points out that having a second lifetime worth of memories in your head will just cause brain damage, citing Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4 as an example.

Deadpool will make a pun about X-Men and Twitter being renamed X
  • Along with a well deserved Take That! at Musk, naturally.

Elektra will challenge someone to a basketball game to, in her own words, "impress the children"
  • But they'll say no and then point out that there aren't any children around. A small crowd of children will appear out of nowhere to express their disappointment.

There will be a joke made about Steamboat Willie becoming public domain
  • Wade will come across a monstrous parody of Mickey Mouse that he quickly kills while complaining about the amount of children's media being turned into horror movies these days before saying he blames Freddy Fazbear for making everyone Follow the Leader.

There will also be a PG-13 cut of this movie.

Other characters besides Wade will realize they're fictional characters… and unlike Wade, they will not be happy about it.

Wade will ask if he needs to watch Loki in order to learn about the TVA
As a reference to complaints about how the Disney+ shows are now mandatory in order to understand plot elements in the movies, like Kamala Khan's presence in The Marvels.

If Cable returns, he will encounter a Variant of Thanos
Naturally, Deadpool calling Cable Thanos in Deadpool 2 will result in jokes about how Josh Brolin is Acting for Two now.

Deadpool's "WAIT!" will be interrupted.
The TVA soldiers will know he's only doing it to rest, reload, and take them off guard. They'll open fire, pissing Wade off something fierce for subverting his running gag.

Wolverine's Patch persona (who appears briefly in the casino scene in the teaser) is actually a Wolverine Variant instead of Jackman's Wolverine, played by Daniel Radcliffe, who's been rumored to play another version of Wolverine.

Lady Deadpool will appear as one of Deadpool's Variants and will be played by Reynolds' wife Blake Lively.

Ravonna Renslayer will show up at one point for a cameo.
Since she was last seen staring down Alioth in the Void at the end of Loki, and Alioth is confirmed to appear in this film, there's a good chance she'll show up here too.

All of the non-MCU characters are going to get a happy ending, showing that the tagline is more than just a sexual reference
By the end, Wade convinces the TVA to revive the timelines of the other Marvel characters or at least give them a new world to call their own. That way, they have to potential to appear again in future films and can finally get resolution on any lingering plots. For example, a brief look at the old FF films will show Reed and Sue have a family, we get a brief appearance of the X-Men of post-Dark Phoenix, and Elektra is shown standing above Bullseye's dead body after finally killing him. All the while, Deadpool finds he'd rather stay with Vanessa on the rest on this Earth, but tells the TVA people if they need another R-Rated rescue for Disney, he'll be around.

There will be cameos and references to the 20th Century Studios franchises, which now belong to Disney.
Since Disney bought 20th Century Studios, it is very likely that there will be cameos and references to various franchises that belonged to Fox, but are now owned by Disney.

Wade will meet Mickey Mouse himself at some point
Given the Biting-the-Hand Humor that the movie seems to be going for, Mickey's portrayed like the distillation of every criticism Disney has been faced with the past few years.
  • Alternatively, Mickey will be portrayed as fed up with being Disney’s scapegoat. Either way, he will portrayed as he was in the Paul Rudish cartoons.

Deadpool will encounter a male Variant of Kitty Pryde, played by Elliot Page
Cue Deadpool making fun of the MCU's tendencies to turn characters who were male in the comics into females such as Ghost, Captain Mar-Vell, Taskmaster, and those Eternals. So he thought it would make everyone feel better by having someone who was a girl in the comics be a guy for once.

Deadpool will see Natasha Romanoff at some point (perhaps not in person, more likely on a TVA screen) and will make a joke about Scarlett Johansson being Ryan Reynolds's ex-wife.

At least one joke about Domino not being real
"I should've known, nobody is THAT lucky!"

The ruined and half-buried 20th Century Fox logo is (fittingly) a Planet of the Apes (1968) reference, and Wade will re-enact the famous "you maniacs" speech in the movie proper.
  • Come to think of it, he does briefly call Wolverine an ape, too…

At least one of Wade's family will be Stuffed into the Fridge because of his Time Traveling.
Deadpool breaking the multiverse will likely lead to the unfortunate consequences. At least one member of Wade's family could meet their demise from his time traveling or as collateral damage in the process. The question is who?
  • Blind Al, because she can be viewed as Deadpool's mentor.
  • Vanessa. Again. Deadpool's time traveling will be entirely undone, leading to her demise again.
  • Colossus. To show how powerful the new villiain is, the normally formidable Colossus will be done away easily.
  • Megasonic Teenage Warhead. Her actress, Brianna Hildebrand, is now in her late twenties, which might mean the character will be written out, to prevent Dawson Casting.
  • Wolverine, to shock the audience.
  • Weasel, offscreen to justify his absence caused by T.J. Miller's real-life behavior.

Deadpool will make fun of Joker (2019), the movie that unseated him as the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.

Wolverine's death at the end of Logan is a Canon Event, similar to Iron Man's death at the end of Avengers: Endgame.
  • During the events of the film, Deadpool discovers that Wolverine must die during the events of Logan to preserve the Sacred Timeline. Deadpool tries to prevent this from happening but ultimately comes to accept that Wolverine will die during the events of Logan.
  • Plus if Hugh Jackman won't come back as Wolverine for Avengers: Secret Wars, this will be a good way to say goodbye to his incarnation of the character.

All the returning characters from previous films are pruned variants from the old X-Men timeline pre-Days of Future Past.
Since many of the characters are recast or flat-out disappear after Logan alters the future for mutants, the TVA had to prune variants of characters who changed their fate of their timeline, whether it be knowingly or unknowingly.
  • Imagine how hilarious it would be when Deadpool freaks out, thinking he has to fight the Juggernaut again. Only to find out it is the Juggernaut from The Last Stand. He still gets to say his memetic line though, "I'm the Juggernaut, Bitch!"
    • Jossed. Vinnie Jones turned down a cameo appearance in the film.

The film is going to be based on Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe.
  • Specifically, though, it's gonna be Deadpool kills the Fox Marvel Universe. Basically the TVA is going to require Deadpool to eliminate most of the Fox universe characters (if not all of them) in order to avoid getting eliminated.

Deadpool will reference how Oppenheimer and Barbie (2023) overshadowed Marvel's output in 2023, barring Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Something along the lines of: "This franchise used to be the shit until it wasn't. Movies about plastic dolls and an old science guy were what cinemas were about last year!"

The movie will finally address the lingering Nathaniel Essex plot thread
Wade Wilson expresses annoyance at how the X-men movie franchise constantly teased the presence of Mister Sinister for years only to be discontinued with Disney buying the rights to the X-Men franchise. He was looking forward to fighting Keanu Reeves (whom has been widely considered a popular fan-cast to play Mister Sinister).

Deadpool will make a Succession joke at Paradox's expense.
Bonus points if he references how Brian Cox once played William Striker before becoming Logan Roy, and by extension, Paradox's father-in-law.

Wade and Vanessa broke up in between Deadpool 2 and third film.
  • In the first teaser trailer heavily implies Vanessa broke up with Wade. However, they continue to remain as friends.
    • It is either they are unable to conceive a child together or one of them is infertile.
      • Deadpool's cancer has been super-charged for years ever since he got his healing factor which is the only thing keeping him from dropping dead. His equipment is likely non-functional at this point.

The incarnation of Wolverine in this movie isn’t the same one from prior X-Men or standalone films.
He could be a new continuity, or the version from X-Men: The Animated Series and X-Men '97.
  • The main trailer states that this variant let his whole world die.

Wolverine will encounter Ouroboros, who will ask Logan if he can teach him how to fight like he does.
It would be a perfect Casting Gag, since Ke Huy Quan was a stunt rigger on the very first X-Men film, and even worked with Hugh Jackman behind the scenes.

Rob McElhenney will cameo in the film.
Given Rob’s close association with Ryan Reynolds, he will appear somewhere in the film.

Wolverine will be the True Antagonist for the film.
Despite the film being teased as a "Buddy Picture", it might be a Red Herring (similar to the Red Herring over the villian in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness). The film could flip the dynamic of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, with Deadpool now being the hero, and Wolverine as the villian.

This Wolverine might not even be Logan himself, but rather one of Logan's clones from Logan. If the latter is true, Deadpool could complain how unoriginal the twist is.

K.E.V.I.N. will appear again
Deadpool may need to rescue K.E.V.I.N. But he ultimately fails, as K.E.V.I.N is destroyed which threatens the very existence of the MCU.

Either the Watcher or Loki/Variant L1130 recruits Deadpool for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and/or Avengers: Secret Wars.
Somebody will notice Wade's actions through the Multiverse, and either The Watcher or Loki will recruit Wade to fight against Kang.

Deadpool will crossover into X-Men '97 universe.
Deadpool will jump briefly into the same universe as the X-Men Animated Series.

The TVA will use the squishing torture machine from Loki Season 2, except this time we will get to see the gory aftermath onscreen.
Bonus points if it's Miss Minutes doing so once again.

Deadpool will address the audience not knowing any characters that originated from the MCU shows.
The TVA, first and foremost, or if Renslayer or other rumored characters that were first seen on Disney Plus will be mentioned by Wade in a manner of “you’d know them if you saw the shows” before also acknowledging the audience’s frustration with this, leading to a potential Take That! to The Marvels.

The theme of the X-Men Animated Series will appear in the film
Much like the other recent homages to the theme, Deadpool will feature a variation of the theme.

The events of the TVA are actually before Loki
Because the TVA operates differently from real time, there is a chance that Wade's visit to the TVA will technically pre-date the events of Loki. This is why Paradox is the one interrogating Wade and not Mobius, as Mobius has yet to "join" the TVA.

If Hunter B-15 appears, she will now go by the name Verity
With Hunter B-15 being more involved with the TVA, she will likely be promoted from being a Hunter. This leads to her using her actual name, Verity Willis, after her real name was hinted at during Season 2 of Loki.

The Deadpool Variants from Wolverine and the X-Men and Ultimate Spider-Man (2012) will appear.

Cassandra Nova will be the next Big Bad of the MCU.
Cassandra Nova's rumored appearance in Deadpool & The Wolverine could set her up to be the next Thanos or Kang for the MCU. At the very least, Cassandra's role could lead into the MCU version of the X-Men, with her serving as the initial villain for the team to face.

Mobius M. Mobius will make an appearance
And at Deadpool's insistence, Mobius will finally say "WOW!"

Deadpool will call out toxic Marvel fans for their online behavior
Ever since Marvel has added more diversity into their content, there has been an uptick of online trolling "fans", who have complained how "woke" Marvel has gotten and how it has turned into the "M-She-U". During the film, Deadpool will decide to mock these fanatics by publicly calling them out or make fun of how petty they are.

Deadpool gets cursed to look like another Movie Star.
Referencing a Deadpool comic where Loki once cursed Deadpool to look like Tom Cruise, Deadpool will once again have a nasty encounter with another Magic user that leaves him looking like another famous movie star. Probably Brad Pitt as a Callback to the last movie where he made a cameo as Vanisher. If it looks creepy and unconvincing, that would be on purpose. cue Deadpool making yet another joke about how Deepfake is getting out of hand nowadays.

Cassandra Nova will be adapted as Charles Xavier's variant, instead of twin sister.
With the MCU focusing more on the multiverse and parallel universe characters, it's quite possible that Cassandra Nova's background will be altered. Cassandra will now be an evil female variant of Charles Xavier, instead of his sister. This would be similar to how Sylvie (who is The Enchantress in the comics) became a female variant of Loki in the MCU.

Cassandra is a Variant but still a Cassandra... specifically from a universe where she won the fight in the womb.
She's visited by a Cassandra closer to Patrick Stewart's age and heavily implied to be the sacred timeline one. Good money's on Helen Mirren.

There will be a scene involving a Lego Deadpool
Similar to the appearance of Lego Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

The Opening Credits Gags

Dog Logan will make an appearance
In the comics, Dog is Wolverine's time-traveling half-brother who hates him for killing their dad. He will appear in this movie trying to kill Logan and Deadpool (because he thinks they're friends). He will be played by either Woody Harrelson (Carnage from Venom 2), Ray Hurst (Beta from TWD and Thor from God of War: Ragnarok) or better yet Tyler Mane (Sabertooth from the first film).

The world that this film's Wolverine Variant comes from is a Truer to the Text adaptation of Old Man Logan
Bonus points if this leads to the (brief) return of Jake Gyllenhaal's Mysterio.

Wade isn’t the first hero the TVA recruited for the mission.
Other heroes, like Scott Lang, could have been chosen and failed. Hence the giant Ant-Man corpse in the trailer.

Cassandra Nova’s motivation is that SHE ALSO KNOWS ABOUT THE FOURTH WALL.
She could be doing something to the universe that threatens to destroy the MCU and escape into the real world.

Deadpool's universe will be destroyed or pruned.
Officially ending the Fox universe and permanently placing Deadpool in the MCU via Soft Reboot. It would be quite the shocking Downer Ending.

The cast of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will show up in the Void as a reference to their show being rendered non-canon.
  • That, or the TVA recruits them too into the "prime" MCU.

There will be a cameo or direct reference to Bluey.

Russell isn't actually Put on a Bus
He's been adopted by Peter, and all his absences are explained as him going to a proper school now ... ok, still counts as Put on a Bus.

They will poke fun at the Sony Spider-Man Cinematic Universe
Deadpool will be like: Oh F**k no. Even I won’t save that dumpster fire hell hole. Especially when Spider-Man isn’t even in there.

The TVA don't actually come for Deadpool on his birthday.
It's just a case of Never Trust a Trailer that it seems to be cut that way, but we never actually see the party going on behind Deadpool nor any proof that the TVA's Hunters ring his doorbell in the middle of it. It could be the next morning, for all we know. He just shuts the door as if there's someone else inside his apartment (presumably Vanessa) who he doesn't want to disturb as he argues with the agents.

The ending.
The film will end with Deadpool and Wolverine being rewarded the chance to stay in the MCU, though all of the other X-Men Fox characters get pruned to make way for new actors when their MCU movie comes. There will be a tearful goodbye. The final scene is a short bit of them in the MCU finally and meeting a member of the new MCU X-Men, portrayed by a new actor.
